Kitchenaid KUDS35FXSS type 5771 dishwasher - The top rack pins broke and the rollers fell off, making the top rack useless. Trying to find the part but unable. After using the dry cycle I still had to dry my dishes by hand. Replaced all my appliances, my biggest complaint is the dishwasher. Never buy Kitchenaid again.

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator on Sept. 15, 2015 and it arrived with a non-working ice maker. We purchased it from a local Eugene, OR company rather than a big box store. My wife wanted to support a local business. When called about the non-working ice maker that dealer said wait 72 hours to see if it comes on because sometimes it takes that long. Had we known that we could not have made the purchase. Other manufacturers provide ice makers that begin work immediately (e.g., GE or LP). When it did not work 72 hours later we called the dealer again and he said he would call KitchenAid (KA) about warranty service. KA called a couple days later to say the parts were on order and would be ready in about 5 days. Nothing happen after 5 days and our dealer has not been any further help (Appliance and TV Center, Eugene, OR). Given the fact that the refrigerator arrived broken and there appears to be no KA service, we regret this purchase. Others in the market would be well-advised to avoid KitchenAid and look to GE or LP whose appliances have worked well for us.

After yet another service call on our two-year-old dishwasher, damn thing is leaking again. Just cost us another $199 for a service call to find out the dishwasher is designed to dump water all over the floor when gunk gets under the overflow cap.

We have had this range for 6 years. If you check the service calls, 3 have been for the oven not reaching maximum temperature. Each service call is close to or more than $200.00. The temperature works for a while and then returns to 259 degrees. Never been fixed properly. Now we have an error F2E1, service call $125.00. The repairman said we have an error F2E1 and we would have to order a new keyboard. Really $125.00 to tell us what we already knew. Now, to make matters worse he said this part, estimated cost $500.00, may not correct the problem and further work/parts would be needed and he wouldnt know until he tried the new part. The most frustrating part is he said the keyboard part could not be returned if further work was necessary thus increasing the price and that couldnt be determined until he started the work! So, we have decided to buy a new gas range and a new fridge and obviously neither one will be a KitchenAid.

My husband and I purchased a custom home in November of 2010. We wanted high end appliances in our new kitchen and have about $25K in KitchenAid products in our kitchen. The largest expense was our built-in refrigerator (model number KSSC42KVS). We paid $8,000.00 for this supposed high end refrigerator. 2 and a half years later, it sits completely dead in my kitchen. The past 3 months have been a nightmare. First, the ice maker assembly had to be replaced at a cost of about $400.00. The cheap plastic arm that closes the ice chute stopped working and allowed warm air to move into the freezer, then the compressor kicked in overtime trying to cool the compartment. 3 days after the ice maker was replaced, the refrigerator side stopped holding its temperature. The compressor would kick on, the freezer would drop to -10 and the fridge temp would go up to 56-60 degrees. The repairman was out again. This time he replaced the damper door assembly which allows the air to move from the freezer side into the the fridge side. Cost me $700.00. Again, everything was OK for about the 3 days and then the same problem happened again. The repairman was out again and this time replaced the thermistors. Again 3-4 days works properly, then compressor kicks on, freezer down to -10 and fridge up to 56. All this time my technician is conferring with Whirlpool technical support and following their recommendations. Now Whirlpool says the main circuit board is bad. It cannot be repaired because all of the inventory was wiped out by the tsunami in 2010. I will have to wait 2-3 weeks while my board is shipped out to a 3rd party vendor to be rebuilt. Now I am out another $600 as we had to buy a cheap fridge to put in our garage because my $8,000.00 is unusable. The board comes in, the repairman puts it in and within an hour after him leaving, the whole fridge just shuts off. The rebuilt board is bad. The repairman is back with a new board.. The fridge works fine for 3 days and then on June 27th, the same problem is back. I let it run for a couple of days and by the 29th, now the freezer isnt holding temp either. Both fridge and freezer are at 60 degrees. I called the repairman again and he tells me that Whirlpool is saying that they are out of ideas. My 2-year-old, $8,000.00 refrigerator has some electrical problem and it cannot be repaired. I will have to buy a new one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I would have known what terrible quality KitchenAid is, I would have spent another $1,000.00 back in 2010 and bought a Sub Zero. Please do not be fooled into thinking that KitchenAid is high end and high quality!

We bought last July KitchenAid refrigerator. Seven months later we could see some issue with discoloration of the bottom door. I contacted KitchenAid service, they explained, the cosmetic of the surface is not under the warranty. I have extended 5-years warranty, but it is not cover cosmetic issue. We bought this refrigerator in Best Buy, but nobody explained about this type of issue. KitchenAid service can change this door if I will pay $500. I believe I paid a lot for this refrigerator and I am not going to pay $500 for factory non quality product.

KitchenAid® Superba® Series EQ Built-In Dishwasher - KUDE40FXBL1 - Like many others in this column, we spent a bit more money to buy a Kitchenaid dishwasher, thinking that the quality was better. The delivery date for our dishwasher was April 26, 2011. As many have noted, the wheel system on the upper racks continues to fail. The plastic tabs that hold the wheels onto the dishwasher rack adjuster breaks, allowing the wheels to come off and ultimately leading to the upper rack dropping down on top of the dishes in the lower rack. On April 7, 2012, a few weeks shy of one year, and just before the end of the full coverage warranty, we had the dishwasher rack adjuster replaced for the first time by Sears technicians (since the machine was purchased from Sears). In January 2013, two of the four wheels were falling off again and allowing the rack to unexpectedly drop from the upper rails. After much complaining to Kitchenaid, they agreed to send replacement parts (2 dishwasher rack adjusters, one for each side, part number W10350376). The new parts are exactly the same as the two sets of dishwasher rack adjusters that failed in the past. I had hoped that Kitchenaid would have made a design change to the parts by this point in time, but it appears as though they have not addressed the issue. I will be replacing the parts by myself, and if there is no change in design, it looks like this may be an annual task. If anyone knows of a solution, kindly advise.

We contacted them but they would say it is repairable and the Dan Marc company folks would come (4 times already) and still not fixed. I bought all KitchenAid appliances at the beginning of 2013 and I have had to have the freezer fixed 3 times and now the cook top is broken. I have an extended warranty that I bought through KitchenAid. It is Dan Marc Appliance Repair in New Jersey and they are horrible. They either order the wrong part or the part comes broken. I always have to go 2 weeks without a refrigerator or freezer. And I also lose a freezer-full of food. KitchenAid, who is owned by Whirlpool, is horrible to deal with and I would not recommend them to anyone. And to me these appliances are new and to have them fixed 3 times in 2 years is not acceptable. They are also overpriced.

We bought a KitchenAid gas range in 2010. When I used the self cleaning mode my display went black and my oven was locked. We called manufacture while it was still under their warranty. They sent a repairman out and he replaced the circuit board. Now 2015 we have a reoccurring problem. Used self cleaning again. Oven locked. We bought an extended service plus warranty on Jan 9th 2015. Today on Jan 27th we are told that they will gladly refund us our money on the service plan even though it was stated in their warranty if its an electrical issue or mechanical they will replace it if it cant be fixed. Well they have stated its gonna cost more in parts for a 5 yr old stove. Well if they would of fixed the problem back in 2010 would I still be having this problem today in 2015. Seems to me there is a issue in the manufacturing of this range.

The fridge started leaking at the top. I paid $115 from a repairman to be told this is a known defect for this fridge (air leak at the top). So KitchenAid should offer free repair for anyone who this affects. They are now made differently, so why should I be stuck with a lemon? I am so mad right now, repairing it is out of the question as I was quote $650. Also if this is a known defect, why didnt KitchenAid alert us? I could have saved $115 by not having a repairman out to our house. The solution for this is to turn the water off to our fridge and not having a water or ice maker, which is half the reason we bought the fridge. Stay away from this entire brand. We are also dealing with a Kitchenaid microwave that the whole door has fallen apart, literally, cracking and chipping away and I spent $225 for a new door that should arrive any day.

I am deeply dissatisfied with KitchenAids customer service, in particular with their Whirlpool Factory Certified Care. In June of 2011, I called KitchenAid customer service about a broken spring for my microwave oven door. They recommended a local certified KichenAid appliance repair shop. I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.

The door opens down like a regular oven door. It is all stainless steel inside so is very easy to clean. Kitchenaid Duel Fuel Range Oven Problem Model KDRP407HSS10 - While baking oven door locked and went into cleaning cycle, food in oven was smoking and could not cancel cycle. Husband had to turn breaker off and let oven cool down and then turn breaker back on so electronics would unlock door and then was able to get food out. Tried to use oven again and did the same thing. Called Kitchenaid and they would not admit or even acknowledge they were aware of the problem. I told them they had to be aware of the problem because I have seen postings of the same exact problem going all the way back to 2005. Had to ask twice to talk to supervisors at next level to try and get their explanation of what it would take to repair the range. I explained I wanted to talk to someone who had knowledge of what it was required to fix the problem. Someone at KA has to know what is wrong. I am now waiting for the third supervisor to call us back. One posting I read said that in the state of NY there was a class action lawsuit filed against KA. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could cause a serious fire. Do not understand why this problem has not been addressed. The ovens should have been recalled.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher model: KUDS30CXWH7 in august 2012. I realize that is some time ago. I have been unhappy with this appliance since the first time I used it. The only positive thing I can say is it is more quiet than the previous dishwasher. I have the heavy duty cycle - it is no better than the normal cycle for cleaning pots or pyrex baking dishes. Please understand they are virtually clean when put in the washer yet not thoroughly clean at the end of the cycle. The heat dry cycle dries NOTHING so a dish towel or drying pad must be used daily.I also find it so odd that an appliance that is supposed to clean must also be cleaned with a special dishwasher soap otherwise it smells like a wet dog. I have had repair people here for a variety of dishwasher complaints - some have been remedied - but generally their comments are thats the way new appliances are. They dont clean thoroughly, they dont dry thoroughly, and they will smell unless you use dishwasher cleaner. An unhappy customer.

We purchased a KitchenAid microwave/oven combo in April 2013 while building our home. It was installed in December. It immediately experienced an error. We called to have it serviced, but the repairman could not find the problem. The error had disappeared! It is now May, the warranty has expired, and the oven is beeping non-stop at all hours of the night and intermittently throughout the day. When it is experiencing this problem, none of the keys on the keypad work. I thought KitchenAid made a quality product, but this is not the case. Very disappointed that such an expensive product could cost us this much trouble and sleepless nights. Its a holiday weekend, and no one at KitchenAid can be reached. When my oven failed 2 days ago after using the self clean, I thought I would contact them to see if they really do have as poor of customer service as Ive read about. Yes, indeed they do have about the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They completely fail to acknowledge the very frequent problem that their ovens fail after using the self-clean. We purchased a KUDE40FXWH dishwasher in March of 2011. The top rack glides kept popping open letting the rack fall off. This probably was linked to binding due to breakage of the plastic pins that connect the glide wheels on the glide bracket. Three months out of warranty, the wheels on one side fall into the bottom of the dishwasher. Both sides have now been replaced for $250. The service technician said this is not isolated and they encounter this on these models. We called Whirlpool/KitchenAid and they politely noted the problems. But once they had the information, they made it very clear that they are unwilling to supply anything at their cost to correct our problem with their equipment. They are glad to have the info for engineering future equipment but are calculatingly unmoved about the predicaments of people who have bought their products to date. We paid for a higher end dishwasher to get reliability and service. KitchenAid is not worth the premium. I could just as well have bought a bargain brand and the repairs wouldnt have been any more than the glitzy one.

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

Ive had a KitchenAid model KSC24C8WH refrigerator for over a year now. Technically, it works as it cools food as intended. The manufacturer would not replace it and I was furious. The warranty only covers repairs. It never worked from day 1. After three visits by repairmen over 7 weeks, the broken part, the appliance manager was installed and it worked temporarily. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened. My builder was disgusted and took the oven out and gave me a brand new model (Whirlpool/KitchenAid wouldn’t). It was the same model but a brand new unit. After a few months, I had a similar problem and the repairman came out. And guess what, it’s the appliance manager again. I do not want this model back in my house. The parts KitchenAid suggested to these servicemen did not work. KitchenAid again knew of a problem with both ovens and did not recall. After many months without any ovens, I called KitchenAid. I asked for suggestions. All I got from the customer service rep was silence .... and then a sorry. He told me that he could not help in anyway. I spent $3200 on these ovens that only worked for 5 years and I cannot get parts to fix them. I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance again.

March 10, 2016 we bought a Kitchen Aid dishwasher from Home Depot. The earliest they could install was March 15. The installers stated the hole was too tall and we needed to remove the tile to shorten it; yes there was a dishwasher in the hole so why couldn’t this one fit? March 23 the second installer arrived, opened the dishwasher and said Your gasket is damaged. You need a new gasket. The gasket around the dishwasher had a large hole and a tear. After many phone calls and much discussion Home Depot stated the dishwasher would be replaced by Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool this week. During all this nonsense, starting March 10, we stated repeatedly we are having 40 people in our home on April 2, we must have this installed. Of course, no problem, you will have a dishwasher before April 2. March 31 arrives, no dishwasher. A representative came out to check that the dishwasher was really damaged. We call Kitchen Aid and speak to a manager, “oh well we just got notified of this on 3/29 there is no way we can get it to you this week.” I assume this is not true because to get the dishwasher replaced the permission had to come from Kitchen Aid March 23. Needless to say after many, many phone calls and 3 service calls I still do not have a dishwasher. Buy from Home Depot & Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool at your own risk.

25 month old KERS505XSS Electric Double Oven Range - Apparently, the self-cleaning cycle of KitchenAid ranges should not be used! After reading about the problems people are having with the self-cleaning cycle on KitchenAid ranges, we had a different problem. After using the self-cleaning cycle, a three-inch long section of the lower front corner of the Interior Porcelain coating was missing creating a deep groove where grease would collect. The KitchenAid Customer Service Department has a stock answer, We do not cover that problem! When we told Customer Service that we were worried about grease collecting in the groove and starting a fire, we were told Thats very simple, do not use the top oven!

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDC20CVSS4 in September 2010 to match all my other KitchenAid SS appliances. It will not totally rinse off top rack dishes and glasses of food residue, and as a result, food particles harden on them so bad that I must soak them in the sink to get them cleaned. I had repairmen out periodically since November 2010 to fix the problem. I have been told to run hot water before starting dishwasher, scrape/rinse dishes thoroughly before washing, switch to liquid Cascade from powder or tablets because H20 doesnt get hot enough to dissolve it, and to run dishwasher with 1/2 to 1 cup white vinegar on occasion. Nothing has worked. The bottom line is that we bought an $800.00 lemon with no recourse. Oh yeah, I was also told that new dishwashers are all made the same since the government enforced new Energy Use standards. I think its baloney being sold to me in order not to buy a new dishwasher (which we are considering). KitchenAid knows about the problems with this unit since it is now discontinued and replaced! I wish they would replace my dishwasher and start a class action suit against KitchenAid.

I was really surprised in that I have only used this burner about three or four times since Ive owned the stove!!! Will call Sears to get repairman out. I have never use the cleaning component since so many users have had problems. Will never purchase another stove by KitchenAid. I have never own a stove where the knob would not turn on. Purchased Refrigerator model #KSC2418EYYO2 less than 5 years ago. Nothing but problems. Had Ice maker fixed 4 times, Finally replaced door to fix problem. The door they fixed was bowed and could not be used. Shipped a new door, problem was repaired then the ice maker stopped working again. Finally they replaced the entire refrigerator. About 6 months ago the ice maker stopped working. Service was called and no problem was found and it started working again. Last month water started leaking out from the bottom. Service was called. Had to wait about a week for the part to come in. Problem was fixed. Now it is leaking again. Meanwhile, brand new kitchen hardwood floor was ruts in it from rolling out the fridge back and forth. And damage is appearing under the unit because of standing water. Between both fridges service was made at least 10 times and it just keeps going. Called KitchenAid direct and received 0 help. Told them I dont trust this machine and want it out, but their answer was, We dont do that. They did offer a discount on another KitchenAid machine but the last thing I need is another machine from them. STAY AWAY from all KitchenAid appliances. They dont work and their company does not stand behind them and turn their back on you. I only wish that I can give them less than 1 star.

3000.00 KitchenAid (purchased in 2014) refrigerator truly a loud disappointment. The buzzing sound from this fridge is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. I have to crank the volume up on my tv to hear it. I can not afford to buy another refrigerator. This one is only just over a year old. Due to this experience my family has decided to never buy another KitchenAid product again. Our friends feel the same way. No one wants to waste their hard earned money on junk.

After the first 2 years, I had to purchase the silverware caddy because the PLASTIC in the bottom of the silverware caddy had pieces broken and silverware was falling through. Then about a year later, PLASTIC brackets on the top rack broke. Replaced those. Now, the PLASTIC door is broken where the screw should be, and the touch panel is not working. JUNK! Count me in the group of very angry KSSC42QTSOO refrigerator owners. My circuit board started to ting about one month ago. It was sent to CoreCentric 1 week ago, and Im hopeful to have a working refrigerator in another week or two. In my Google search of this problem, I came upon an interesting post (which I could not relocate today) that may be helpful to some. A realtor from Ariz posted her problem with the same circumstances; same circuit board part number (W10121049 and substitute board 10219462. She said her husband had experience with soldering and circuit boards and was able to repair their refrigerator with a $5 capacitor, purchased at Radio Shack. She said she had found out these boards had defective capacitors manufactured in South Korea. Sure enough, my repairman showed me the rounded top of the blown out capacitor on my circuit board... Bought a new side by side with ice maker from Sears in Feb 2012. By July noticed my floor was swollen and wet. Called the tech out. It had a crack in the water valve so it had a slow leak for months. The tech said he never sees these crack. Told me to call Whirlpool. Did, they told me to call Sedgewick which handles the insurance claims. Then Sedgewick told me they couldnt do anything because I didnt have the broke part. How is the average consumer suppose to know to keep it? The tech took it with him. How nice for them. Sedgewick told me to call Whirlpool back. Did, no answer. Had to leave message. Did that twice. Then I went to Sears, said they would look into it. Havent heard a peep. Needless to say have to turn it into my insurance for the 6000.00 damage to the floor you can see, doesnt include the sub floor that might be damaged or the mold that might be under there. This has been a ongoing thing for over a year. Never again will I buy anything Whirlpool or Sears. Customer service is awful. Now 2 of the knobs on the stove I bought at the same time will not turn. No quality built into these products!!

I purchased a KitchenAid Model KUDS301XBLO from Best Buy 2 years ago this month. The first week I had to call KitchenAid concerning the fact that the dishwasher did not get my dishes clean. Stuck on food on dishes and silverware and cloudy glassware. They sent a repairman out and he said there was nothing wrong, it must be my water or the temperature setting on the hot water heater. He checked and said the temp was correct and he couldnt find anything wrong. The next week I called KitchenAid again and reported the same problem. Another repair service was sent and he could not find anything wrong either (other than the dishes were dirty). They both suggested a multitude of things to try, i.e.,Use of different product (used Cascade), adding Lemi Shine, make sure to use Jet-dry, etc, etc, all of which I was using anyway. The first guy said pre-wash the dishes before placing them in dishwasher. The 2nd guy said never pre-wash the dishes, always leave food on them because with the new machines this acted as a washing agent to get the dishes clean... Lordy, that blew my mind. I tried that and had to take all the dishes out of the dishwasher when it was complete and wash them by hand. The 2nd guy also informed me I should have never gotten rid of my 20-year-old GE, that it was a superior product (it worked fine, just was very noisy). I emailed a complaint to KitchenAid and several weeks after the complaint I had a call while I was not at home, from some lady who left a message. I tried to call her back and got her voicemail and left a message for her to return the call. Never heard from her. The 2nd repairman gave me a bill for services and I refused to pay it, so thats when I emailed the company. As far as I am concerned, I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

KitchenAid refrigerator model #KRFF507ESS01 defrost problems - Since purchasing the refrigerator I have had to have it defrosted four times. Every three to four months the fridge gets warm and the coils, fan and other components in the fridge get completely covered in a block of ice. Two service calls were made while the fridge was under warranty. The technician that came replaced a thermostat, but also said that he didn’t feel it would fix the problem and that it would happen again. In fact, it has happened twice since. KitchenAid refuses to do anything about this. My background is in engineering and product development and I must say that the design of this fridge is suspect. The use of a very low quality fan, no defrosting heater and some very cheap packing Styrofoam as part of the air routing system is very suspect in my opinion. It does not appear to be properly engineered. We are also experiencing some cosmetic degradation at the front of the water / ice serving area. We called on this also and KitchenAid sent us a replacement piece, which has already started to degrade since it was replaced. We purchased this refrigerator along with a gas stove top, convection microwave, oven, dishwasher and trash compactor. This was almost $11,000 in products from KitchenAid. We are very unhappy with the refrigerator since it will likely require regular defrosting for the rest of its life. The fridge is out of warranty, but this problem happened while in warranty and is in your records. We would very much a response from KitchenAid that include either fixing the problem once and for all or a replacement of the refrigerator with one that has the problem solved. It is not acceptable to sell a product like this.

We remodeled our Kitchen and we bought a new oven, microwave, dishwasher, warmer all KitchenAid appliances. First time we heated up the oven to 350 degrees, it heated up to over 500 degree and burnt the bottom of the oven. The temperature settings are very off and wrong, everything we cook we have to use set it very low to get it to cook properly. Dishwasher does not clean correctly and it was leaking, they did come in and adjust it. It kind of works now. The Microwave has been repaired twice in the first year, and this model cost $1000. The warmer works fine.I will never buy anything KitchenAid ever again. We have had nothing but 3 years of issues, and the customer service repair guy did not have a clue on how to fix any of these appliances so he just keeps ordering parts and wasting our time for this $1000 microwave. Really disappointed in KitchenAid. They are the worst and most terrible customer service team. They never offered to replace any of the appliances and when we unpacked the microwave it had a ding in the front of it.

Finally they replaced the board with an upgraded board which has worked so far. It only took from July 2013 until March of 2014 to fix that problem. Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased about two and a half years ago. The model is KUDS301XSS1 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. One and a half years into its use, it had a repair for $215 for a $30 fuse. The rest was labor because nothing on the dish washer would operate. The compartments that hold the knives, forks and spoons in place are held up on the sides of the utensil tray by bread twiggies to keep them from constantly falling into the respective sections. If anyone is experiencing this problem, the twiggies have been working now for over a year. The bottom panel which is plastic is held to the metal frame with cheap plastic that breaks. It is now held on by, you guessed it, another bread twiggie. Last week, the roller on the upper rack broke off of the cheap plastic spindle that holds it to more plastic parts on the rack. Now it is engineered by an ingenious screw washer fed by a strong plastic tie through a small washer fed through the opening of the roller and twisted onto the plastic frame on the upper rack. This works as long as one doesnt force the rack open. One should note that the end stops on the rack are made up of more cheap plastic parts that are quite fragile and will probably break in time. The dishwasher does clean dishes and is silent, but the cheapness of all these parts leaves me with one opinion - KitchenAid and Whirlpool do not care about making a good appliance. The KitchenAid was a replacement for two previous Whirlpools that gave decent service. I sold appliances in the past and know that KitchenAid made by Hobart was quite a top of the line dishwasher. My advice now - not worth the purchase price, not worth buying so let buyer beware. Because of this atrocious record, the rest of the new appliances in our kitchen went to Frigidaire. I have read many other complaints from others on the internet about this fuse that keeps going out. My repairman left the instructions for replacement so I can do it myself.

French Door Refrigerator - KRFC300ESS. I should have read reviews about KitchenAid appliances before I purchased one. Please read this review and be careful when selecting your appliances and also check the warranty and service for these appliances. I purchased the refrigerator in October, 2016. In August, 2017, the freezer stopped working so all the food I had there I had to take out and consume or keep it in an ice box with ice. The refrigerator part also did not work - the temperature was +12C. I called Whirlpool (they are responsible for KitchenAid) and I was told that they will send out a technician. The technician came on August 23 but said he needs to order the part. The part came and the technician changed it on August 30. The freezer worked but the refrigerator didnt. I called back customers centre at Whirlpool and they sent out the technician again on September 1. The problem still was not fixed and the repair guy came back on September 13 and said he has to order another part. The part which was ordered was a wrong part so it had to be re-ordered and the 2nd order came on September 27th. After that call the refrigerator worked but then it started to freeze stuff. Once again the technician came on October 16 and said he has to order another part, on October 24 he installed it.Yesterday I discovered that my fresh basil, lettuce were frozen. Again. I called the Whirlpool and they will be sending out the technician again (I think this guy can moved in with my family- he has been here so many times). Luckily I purchased extended warranty. Be prepared when you call the service centre to be put on hold - today I was on the phone with them for over 1 hour. I BOUGHT A LEMON!!! IF I KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE SUCH A PROBLEM WITH KITCHENAID I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT. How many times will it take to fix this lemon! Obviously there is something wrong with this unit.

Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

I have owned a KitchenAid Gas Range/Convection Oven KGSA906PSS for several years. I attempted to use the self-clean feature for the first time ever yesterday. I wished I had searched for KitchenAid complaints on this website first. Apparently, I am one of many who has burned up the oven control panel by merely using a feature of the oven. How is this possible that there is no recall or product support from KitchenAid for such a common problem and obvious product defect? I called KitchenAid and as you can guess from their low ratings on this and other sites. They were zero help and I got the impression they could care less if any of us ever buy a KitchenAid product again. They should be happy to know that I in fact would never buy another KitchenAid product or recommend that anyone else ever does. The repair (punishment) cost is estimated at $600. This is a repair for attempting to use the oven clean feature one time. One of the features we looked for on an oven although for some reason (thankfully) we didnt use. This represents a full 45 percent of the ovens purchase price and yet KitchenAid has no assistance or comment. Good Job, KitchenAid. I hope this experience helps somebody make a wiser purchase decision.

We purchased 6 years ago and have had non-stop issues with it. It stops working after about 10 min., then you have to push a few buttons and then it works for about 10 more min. until it stops again, and then finally you have to start the whole cycle over and then it will complete. Its like washing dishes twice! It takes about 2-3 hours for a complete cycle. Also there is a smell that is terrible and after trying dishwashing cleaners, it still smells. Finally, every few months Ive had to take the whole thing apart to clean out the filter area to try to rid the smell. Ive never had so much trouble with a dishwasher!!!! This was a top of the line and expensive model too. :(

In about a month the ice and water quit. Now not cooling and makes a noise similar to a leaf blower or lawn mower. Going on my 4th month. Service has been awful. Awaiting my 3rd time for Diamond Appliance to arrive and not be able to fix. There was a delay because Diamond had my name, address & phone wrong. I am not Carol in Virginia. I’m Linda from Kansas. Geez. BUT the latest is that I have to defrost the refrigerator on Sunday prior to my Tuesday appointment. Now its not cooling. Food is ruined. I had a bout of food poisoning this week that I think may have been the eggs. Now moving all the food to the garage. Some to the trash and some to the garage fridge. I have been told the warranty doesn’t cover food loss. I know Tuesday will not be the day it gets fixed because Diamond gets paid EVERY time they come to my house. What is the incentive to fix? He will tell me another part needs to be ordered and set another appointment for the following Tuesday .. But if he does, he will have to help me push this to the curb for pickup. I cannot help to think that mine is the only bad apple. It’s a good looking fridge but I wouldn’t get it if you intend to use it.

Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher 9/2012. Within the first year it required service on its electronic board. This was done under warranty. I purchased a service plan which covered the dishwasher until 8/18/2015. Of course the dishwasher didnt break down again until 9/8/2015. This dishwasher cost close to $2,000.00. For that kind of money it should last longer than 3 years. I will never buy a KitchenAid again.

I have a built-in electric KitchenAid double ovens. My new home is three years old and almost since the beginning, we have had trouble with the upper oven which we use the most. The red gasket between the glass and the door curled up and the oven has leaked since almost day one. We have the model KEBK206SS00, serial #XW0509649. I love all of my KitchenAid products but feel that KitchenAid should take care of this problem no matter what as it has been ongoing since almost the beginning.

KitchenAid refrigerator is making loud sounds, so I call service man. Could not get control board to fix. Wanted to charge for time and fan, so took appliance apart in pieces. Called Whirlpool. Told needed extended warranty for $400 for service. Next day service told me no part as not made. Rebuilt was only option without warranty & 2 weeks of waiting & if faulty, continue to return until they make it right. Receiving harassing phone calls (2 times) from first service man with demand of $275.00 at almost midnight. Out $400.00 & refrigerator does not work. Cant go without insulin as diabetic. Told have to keep warranty for years if needs service. Class Action lawsuit is necessary. (Refrigerator is about $9,000.)

I never had a dirty dish come out of it; provided you used the jet dry. No matter what I threw at it, they came out clean and spotless. The controls were on the top edge of the door so hidden during use and programmed before closing the door. The dishwasher ran whisper quiet and had multiple cleaning cycles; including pot scrubber. It should also be noted that the heater in this unit heats everything to the point of sterilization. You can actually smell the clean when the dishes come out. This dishwasher had the adjustable top rack so cleaning large items in the bottom was very easing. It also had extra large capacity so it took a lot of dishes to fill it. Stainless steel, and hidden controls were very nice. The large, rounded, stainless door handle was the only protrusion from under the counter so it blended well into the cabinetry. Kitchenaid 24-inch Stainless Steel with Proscrub. It came with the standard warranty and I paid to extend it an additional 2 years. It also came with a nicely written owners manual which was clear and concise on the operations.

I bought this 1st model about 8 years or when it was a new model. After 1 year the rectify started becoming very noisy to the point that you had to shut the bedroom door because of the sound! I bought it at Brandsmart USA and they sent out their tech in 2 weeks after call and ordered some parts and took another 2 weeks to come back and install. Seemed to work fine but soon the problem was back and another 2 weeks and a repeat of the latter! To make it short this went on into my extended warranty which I purchased with fridge. After humorous service calls from different techs they have me a refund and I purchased my 2nd same model rectify believing I had just got a lemon. Well to my surprise it began after about a year later with the same problems! I lost many days of work and pounds of food in this experience and was told this was going to be replaced also but to this day I have to defrost freezer and rectify about every 30 days. So my conclusion Dont buy a KitchenAid fridge because I see now after internet investigation Im not alone!!

Bought a KitchenAid model # kffs20EYBL00 in 2012. This refrigerator has given me nothing but grief since 2012. I bought an extended warranty on this refrigerator and glad I did, have had to use it numerous times. The back of the freezer will freeze up, makes this running noise that sounds like a motor is running and the upper refrigerator isnt as cold as it should be. They have had to repair this 5 times in 2012 to 2013. 2014 and 2015 probably 2 times and now 2016 we are getting repaired once again. I am very frustrated with this refrigerator. I not only have had issues with the freezer, but the shelving in this refrigerator is junk.I have had two shelves break so far. Its just junk! I dont recommend KitchenAid anymore. Maybe in the 80 and 90s this was a good brand but not any longer. Looking at buying a new one, hate too since this one cost me of $1600.00 and 4 yrs of grief. Stay away from KitchenAid and Whirlpool. They are made by same company from what I have been told by companies I am looking at for a new refrigerator!

We spent $6000.00 for a built-in side by side 48 inches refrigerator. Nothing but trouble with the ice machine. First, it froze up soon after purchase. They sent a appliance person out. He said just break up the ice. How stupid was that? The next appliance person, the water is leaking into the motor of the ice dispenser freezing it up. When exposed, you could see all the frozen ice. A lot of it. No wonder the motor wont work, it was frozen up. When the new part came, it had a new part with it. This rubber washer was to stop the water from going into the motor and freezing it again. Now these motors are not cheap. So this was a design flaw. Here we go again: same problem even with the new rubber washer. It’s frozen up solid. It makes a lot of ice you just can’t get it out of the dispenser. I am sure there are a lot of people that have this same problem. This started before the warranty was out. This is a two years and 9 months appliance. There’s trouble with the ice maker all the time. They just tell you your warranty is out even though they made a flaw in the ice machine design.

My house burned Oct 17, 2011. We rebuilt it and put in all new KitchenAid appliances. I was so excited to have something new, pretty, economical and what Id always thought was a top of the line brand. Boy was I wrong. I have had 4 cabinet depth side by side refrigerators from March 2012 to May 2012. None of them have worked. Feb 5, 2015 my ice maker quit. I paid the serviceman for a brand new one. It didnt produce ice at all for 5-6 days. I got up the 6th day and both fridge and freezer were hot. Lost all my food. The serviceman replaced the compressor on 2-26-15. It worked great for a day. I get up yesterday am and lost my food once again. Fridge and freezer are both hot and not working. Id like to add we have had problems with our dishwasher and double oven thermostat. All products are lemons. Very dissatisfied.

Purchased all new appliance for our renovated Kitchen in May of 2017. They were installed towards the end of June, and we started having issues with the refrigerator within months. This is Model KRFF305ESS00, French doors, with water dispenser inside on the left-hand side. Once you fill a glass with water, the water dispenser doesn’t shut off properly and continues to drip... not one or two drips... but constantly. I phoned and the first serviceman they sent out told me that there was nothing wrong with it, and that is just the way it is. I called back, they sent another service guy out who said “that’s not right, but I’m not really sure what’s going to fix it, but I will order a new water tank and tube and see if that does the trick. I will also order a new air damper because it seems to be grinding and it shouldn’t be”.Two weeks later he returned with the parts, installed them, and it worked better for about a month. Now it’s still dripping, and the noise it makes sounds like it’s going to take off. I just called with warranty department, and there is no more coverage. It will cost $139 plus tax just to have someone come out and then more money for whatever parts they want to try next, that likely won’t work. My husband says “take it to the dump, it’s a piece of $3,000 garbage”!!! We will be shopping for another refrigerator... and it won’t be KitchenAid. How do these people stay in business??? Oh... Cathy on the warranty line, sure was trained properly... All she could say was “I certainly understand how you feel, but there is nothing we can do about it”!!!

We have a (just barely) 3 year old KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer that has been very troublesome. First the ice maker was replaced; then the entire front door of the freezer had to be replaced because it had NO insulation; and now the top shelf in the freezer just exploded as I opened the door. There were only 4 small items on the exploding shelf so it was not too full. When I call the customer service number I waited over 20 minutes to speak with a real person who took down info and then transferred me to another person for whom I had to wait another 10 minutes. I explained that it was like a shot -- a boom sound and then tons of small pieces of tempered glass all over me, my kitchen, and into the adjoining office area next to the kitchen. KitchenAid response was that these things can happen -- seriously??? Waiting to receive a replacement shelf and waiting for a supervisor with customer relations skills to call me back.

Short story - Within 3 years the main control has gone bad, it no longer keeps temperature, and KitchenAid cannot provide me the parts to fix it even though its in warranty!!! Stay away from this product and stay away from KitchenAid / Whirlpool all together. Long story - Its completely worthless WITHIN 3 YEARS for a $4k product! I called KitchenAid and scheduled service to come out within 1 week (ok so far). Their service provider came out and said I need a new main control. They would order it and call when received. Two weeks go by, no call from them so I call. They inform me they are not able to tell me when the part will come in. Its up to their distributor and they have no way of knowing. Over 3000 customers are waiting on back-ordered parts. I wait another week and still no availability update. Meanwhile, I look online and see the part is available to ship the next day thru KitchenAids part website repair clinic. I decide to call KitchenAid directly again and a service rep tells me he sees the part is available, apologizes for the now four-week wait and says theyll send it directly to me via 2nd day. Of course, its now the next week (5 weeks without a fridge at this point) and the part still hasnt arrived. I called KitchenAid to ask what is going on. They said now the part is back-ordered until the end of the year at the earliest! Best case scenario that means I will be without a working fridge for 12 weeks!!! For a part that is supposed to be covered by warranty. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID OR WHIRLPOOL.

Buyer Beware! My partner and I bought a $6,000 KitchenAid 36-inch dual-fuel range about 12 years ago. Since then, the oven has failed three times, the last time for good. When I called the manager of the expensive appliance store where we bought it, Cocoplum, in Essex Junction, VT, he told me that we had a lemon and went on to say that the company was no longer any good. The problem, according to him, is that the high temperatures of the self-cleaning oven (which we have not used often) do not play well with the complex electronics of the stove. Bottom line: after 12 years, we have had to plunk down $7,000 for a new stove, this time a Thermador with gas only. There is a class-action lawsuit being brought against the company in New York, and other reviews online confirm our expensive bad experience.

KitchenAid fridge model #: KFIV29KPMS03, S/N K43117611. Delivered: 9-16-14. Price: $3,038.00, including $ 199.99 for five year warranty. Issue: Defective freezer seal causes frost ice accumulation, see photo, below. 1st warranty call to KitchenAid 10-22-14 recd appointment for 10-27-14. Repair tech made a few adjustments. 2nd warranty call 11-12-14 recd appointment on 11-14-14. Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why dont the display/floor models have it on them?Photo 11-14-14. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product?

Our KitchenAid refrigerator has had a host of issues since we bought it. The main current issue is ice buildup at the bottom of the freezer, which has created huge puddles that have warped our wood floor. The issue is a plugged defrost drain line. KitchenAid knows about this issue, as there is a published workaround and a new part to replace the too narrow, easily plugged drain line. I havent bothered to call them because its out of warranty, and they are sticklers for their 1-year warranty. Also about 9 months after I bought it, I noticed rust starting on the stainless steel door. It was caused by a faulty heating unit in the French doors, which was causing moisture buildup along the inside of the doors. KitchenAid sent a tech out to fix it for free. BUT the rust was not covered by warranty at all (Theres a 30-day warranty for cosmetic issues, never mind that the cosmetic issue was caused by an equipment failure).

We purchased nine top-of-line KitchenAid built-in refrigerators for the premium units in a condo development. A circuit board failed on the first unit after 6 years. We replaced the circuit board (at significant expense) and the unit seemed to work fine... for awhile. Then, two more circuit boards failed in other units but this time circuit boards were not available, reportedly due to the tsunami in Japan. There was no support from KitchenAid or Standard TV & Appliance in Portland, OR - out of warranty they said. We finally found a company that rebuilt circuit boards (very expensive). Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

We did a complete kitchen remodel Jan 2012 and chose a KitchenAid double oven. Model #KGRS505XSS02. It’s been a super disappointing experience all the way around. The rubber feet broke on the stovetop grates. Kitchenaid and Lowe’s both said that’s not under warranty and they don’t sell the feet alone so we would need to replace the entire grate for much higher costs. It scratches the stovetop! Next the top oven igniter broke. It was repaired under extended warranty I purchased, not by Kitchenaid. Knobs broke next, would not turn. Again fixed under my extended warranty. Next bottom oven igniter broke but now not under warranty. Next top oven igniter broke again! We called Kitchenaid very angry but they offered no resolution. This is a good looking, rather expensive refrigerator. It has a very well styled and functional interior; more room than I anticipated and much easier to store things neatly in freezer than my last side by side. The major disappointment is the drawers in the refrigerator part. They are so flimsy that they came apart and had to be taken out and put back together after using a short time. This was extremely disappointing since the rest of this appliance is sturdy, well thought out and beautifully styled. What were they thinking? I am very careful dealing with opening and closing filled drawers so they dont come apart again. I would certainly make checking out how well the drawers were made a priority when buying a new refrigerator. Something I would never have thought of before.

I would not recommend buying KitchenAid to anyone at this point! Cant fix nor replace unit!!

This is our first Kitchenaid brand refrigerator and has been the best refrigerator that we have ever owned. It is feels substantial when opening/Closing the doors and drawers. Very spacious and well-designed storage. Would not hesitate to buy this brand again.
