In February of 2011, we replaced our dishwasher with a KitchenAid from Sears. We thought that KitchenAid was a high end dishwasher that would have very good quality and problem-free for years. Boy were we wrong. Within weeks, the top rack started coming off the track. When I called KitchenAid, they offered no solutions and seemed to be unaware of any issues with the quality of their upper racks guide system. The upper rack design of these dishwashers is a very flawed design with very sloppy tolerances that allow the tracks to come off. I will never buy another KitchenAid product again and we will likely replace this poorly designed dishwasher with a product from KitchenAid/Whirlpool. If you cant trust them with the very basics of designing an upper rack roller system, do you really trust them with electronics and water management?

Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

I bought a KitchenAid fridge side by side with freezer on the bottom. It leaks water all over the floor. Forms a sheet of ice under the freezer door then the water overflows. I called Lowes. They sent a repairman that stated it was our fault for not having air conditioning in our house. Nothing he can do. I called Lowes again and a new repairman said he replaced a faulty hose. Now it still leaks and the warranty is expired. I hate this, our old fridge worked better. Wish I had it back.

Our $600 KitchenAid microwave failed after less than 2 years. I spoke with customer service about repair, and was told that replacement parts are not made for this item as its a countertop appliance. Was not marketed as such - was sold to me as an installed piece with a matching trim kit. I was told that I would just need to purchase another microwave given that Im out of warranty. Very disappointing to discover that a seldom-used microwave that retails for that much money cannot be counted upon to last for 2 years. Sadder still that KitchenAid is not willing to stand behind their product by at least offering a discount toward the purchase of a replacement product. Based upon this experience, I will not purchase another KitchenAid appliance.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator. I could never get the ice maker out. Later found out it was stuck shut. At about 11 months I notices residue on the bottom of my glass after my drink sat. The volume of the powdery substance was quite substantial and noticeable. I really worked on the ice maker and forced it open. There was a pile of white powder inside the ice maker and on the sides of the interior. I cleaned it thoroughly removing all white power and thought the problem was solved. They just forgot to clean it before shipping it. After cleaning it the water/ice was clear. Within 3 months I noticed the white powder was back in my drinks. I cant believe how much of this powder I must have ingested. I called KitchenAid. Sorry you are out of warranty. I suggested they come out and get a sample of this white powder and identify it as harmless or toxic, if not for me then other who may have not noticed it. Sorry your out of warranty. Can I send you a sample of this powder and you can tell me what it is and if it is normal to be in my drinks. No. CAUTION!! LOOK in the bottom of your glass after the ice has melted. Dont let your children drink this substance. Write me if you have had similar experience.

My son purchased this refrigerator, great looking indeed. So a few months later in Nov 2014 I also purchased one. Shortly after he had problems with his defrosting needless to say so did I. The company sent me Dan Marc repair service in Fairfield NJ. Im still without a refrigerator, its 4 weeks now and Im living out of a cooler on my back porch also hundreds of $ of food lost. KitchenAid keeps saying sorry to hear that but that doesnt get me a working Frig!!! So Im stuck with a $2600 piece of junk. Its a nightmare!! Ive had much cheaper appliances that have worked for years. Shame on you KitchenAid and shame on you Dan Marc, worst service. They didnt show up for appointments 3 times and dont even call!! Ive since looked at reviews and they have the worst. And with holidays coming I cant even celebrate with Family. Beware!!!

Stainless Steel KitchenAid Dishwasher Complaint - I bought this high-end dishwasher for $1,600 in 2006, and it has broken several times - replacing internal panel, internal control unit, and exterior touch pad within warranty period in which I had to pay for labor and miscellaneous parts. It now has another broken internal panel, internal control unit, which is out of warranty now. The GE authorized repairman said I have a lemon and it’s not worth fixing. GE has offered to pay for a few parts but not labor. Or, I need to buy a new one with a slight discount. I feel this is unreasonable since I have had major problems with this dishwasher lemon within warranty.

My husband and I purchased a custom home in November of 2010. We wanted high end appliances in our new kitchen and have about $25K in KitchenAid products in our kitchen. The largest expense was our built-in refrigerator (model number KSSC42KVS). We paid $8,000.00 for this supposed high end refrigerator. 2 and a half years later, it sits completely dead in my kitchen. The past 3 months have been a nightmare. First, the ice maker assembly had to be replaced at a cost of about $400.00. The cheap plastic arm that closes the ice chute stopped working and allowed warm air to move into the freezer, then the compressor kicked in overtime trying to cool the compartment. 3 days after the ice maker was replaced, the refrigerator side stopped holding its temperature. The compressor would kick on, the freezer would drop to -10 and the fridge temp would go up to 56-60 degrees. The repairman was out again. This time he replaced the damper door assembly which allows the air to move from the freezer side into the the fridge side. Cost me $700.00. Again, everything was OK for about the 3 days and then the same problem happened again. The repairman was out again and this time replaced the thermistors. Again 3-4 days works properly, then compressor kicks on, freezer down to -10 and fridge up to 56. All this time my technician is conferring with Whirlpool technical support and following their recommendations. Now Whirlpool says the main circuit board is bad. It cannot be repaired because all of the inventory was wiped out by the tsunami in 2010. I will have to wait 2-3 weeks while my board is shipped out to a 3rd party vendor to be rebuilt. Now I am out another $600 as we had to buy a cheap fridge to put in our garage because my $8,000.00 is unusable. The board comes in, the repairman puts it in and within an hour after him leaving, the whole fridge just shuts off. The rebuilt board is bad. The repairman is back with a new board.. The fridge works fine for 3 days and then on June 27th, the same problem is back. I let it run for a couple of days and by the 29th, now the freezer isnt holding temp either. Both fridge and freezer are at 60 degrees. I called the repairman again and he tells me that Whirlpool is saying that they are out of ideas. My 2-year-old, $8,000.00 refrigerator has some electrical problem and it cannot be repaired. I will have to buy a new one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I would have known what terrible quality KitchenAid is, I would have spent another $1,000.00 back in 2010 and bought a Sub Zero. Please do not be fooled into thinking that KitchenAid is high end and high quality!

I have a 3 month old KitchenAid that has been serviced 4 times and STILL DOESNT WORK. Dan Marc Appliance who is the servicing company for Whirlpool has replaced the pump and the control board. Yesterday the technician and the supervisor promised it was fixed. They ran the test and no errors were detected. Loaded the dishwasher and ran it using the recommended settings and dishes came out dirty. They say there is nothing wrong with the dishwasher EXCEPT IT DOESNT WASH THE DISHES. Get the Bosch. KitchenAid is terrible to deal with, their chosen technicians are terrible to deal with and the product stinks.

Refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY03 just a year old. Problem with ice forming behind bottom drawer in refrigerator section. Needs a new fan and thermistor. After waiting for parts and then put on the service schedule, the repairman came but had the wrong part. Now, again waiting for the part and to be put on the service schedule. Without a refrigerator for three weeks. Also, the fan is encased in styrofoam held together by tape. No wonder there is a problem. Also the reviews for the repair company sent by KitchenAid were not favorable. I found this out firsthand.Updated on 03/10/2016: In August I had ice built up behind the drawers in the bottom of the refrigerator. KitchenAid replaced the fan and thermistor. Seven months later, same problem. KitchenAid denied any problems with these parts.

In my quest to contact Whirlpool (US), with perseverance, creativity, luck and detective work I received a telephone call from Whirlpool (U.S.) shortly after my initial review. A Whirlpool Executive (Mr. Chastain) was apologetic and took control and personal responsibility of my problem. Mr. Chastain arranged for a technician to service my microwave to my satisfaction and provided me with a full refund for all Whirlpool service charges (parts and labour). While I am grateful to Mr. Chastain for resolving my problem, it would be helpful if Whirlpool included direct telephone #s (not a call center) and legit email addresses on their website for consumer SOS.

Very, very quiet. Stainless steel interior. Does an excellent job of cleaning dishes. The only issue I have had is that a seal on the bottom of the door leaked when new and it had to be replaced under warranty. Now, a few years later, that seal began to leak again but I was able to clean and re-position it and it works fine now. They needed a better design for that seal.

I moved into a house with a KitchenAid 42 built-in side-by-side refrigerato
I moved into a house with a KitchenAid 42 built-in side-by-side refrigerator. In Sept. 2013, the ice maker stopped working. A reputable repair company told me the cause was one circuit board. They determined the board was no longer made by KitchenAid, and if a third party board repair company couldnt fix it, the fridge couldnt be fixed. A complete fridge replacement would be about $7,000! The good news: I then uncovered an extended warranty bought by the prior owner. The fridge was purchased Jan 2009, and extended warranty ending Jan 2014. Mercifully, the warranty company transferred the warranty to me, with 3 months left before expiring. The prior owner bought the fridge and warranty from a high touch, full price appliance store. Turned out the people who do the warranty companys repair are the people at this appliance store who told the same story as the earlier repair company. They sent the offending board to a board repair company and meanwhile supplied a loaner fridge as without that circuit board not only did ice maker not work, the entire fridge didnt work. Board repair company returned it a few weeks later, saying it was unrepairable. Now the warranty company had to replace the refrigerator, so they are actually the big losers, not me.Everyone involved tells me its not unusual for a 4-year-old $7,000 refrigerator to fail and be unrepairable after 4.75 years, regardless of the brand, apparently because appliance manufacturers havent placed importance on reliability of electronics. The problem is not specific to KitchenAid. In selecting the replacement fridge, I discovered that parent company Whirlpool owns, among others, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag and Amana. In the store, these brands are obviously the same fridge with minor differences in door and shelf decor. My conclusions after all this: 1) There should be some law requiring Whirlpool (and its several brands) to make it possible to buy parts, including electronics, for at least 10 years, for a $7,000 fridge. Today, Whirlpool stops making some board replacements 4.75 years after manufacturing the unit. Meantime, theres some opportunity here for entrepreneurs who can figure out how to acquire and stock working boards for whatever Whirlpool and its brands are manufacturing now. 2) $7,000 Built-ins are a particular ripoff: for about $2,000 one can buy an almost-as-large free standing counter-depth fridge. A few years from now, it would be lot less painful to lose $2,000 compared to spending $7,000 on a replacement. 3) Ive never bought extended warranties in the past, but an extended warranty saved me. For expensive kitchen appliances with significant electronics, I now buy extended warranties.4) Full-price full-service family-owned appliance stores (where they exist) offer more value than I ever appreciated. They held my hand through the whole process, I always had a working fridge, and they helped get an excellent settlement from the warranty company that they recommended when the fridge was purchased.

We bought all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances for our kitchen. Stove had a broken door piece - ok fair enough, we are still waiting on the new part. Fridge specs were given without consideration for the hinges so when it arrived it did not fit - poor. New fridge arrived with door overfilled so that foam was puking out from all the edges. KitchenAid makes the fridges with a greyscale side and the stove with a black side so they dont even match. Called Kitchenaid - the service gentleman arrived and agreed door should be replaced but will take minimum 8 weeks as the doors are made in Mexico. 2/10 would not buy from this company again though I thought they were supposed to be about quality. KitchenAid now owned by Whirlpool, includes Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana and Inglis.

Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a broken door release mechanism. 3 years later, the same thing is happening to the KitchenAid. Door wont open when depressing the button. Seems to be a common occurrence if you check YouTube. The selling dealer offered to sell us a new one for $400. Wrote KitchenAid and was told the unit was out of warranty and if there was a problem, it would have shown up in the first few months of ownership. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. Reliability, durability, and customer service are all oxymorons when it comes to KitchenAid microwaves.

I placed a review on this site regarding a catastrophic failure of a door seal on our very expensive fridge 3 years to the date after purchase. After numerous conversations with the Canadian warranty department and being told the part was not warrantied after one year I ordered a door seal from another provider and replaced the seal. I then wrote the review.Much to my surprise on Dec 4 The manager of Canadian Operations for Customer Relations Whirlpool contacted me to advise us they were prepared to send a service technician out to replace the seal at no cost to us. I advised the Manager that I had already replaced the seal and what the cost was. The Manager advised me to send him a copy of my receipt and that Whirlpool would reimburse me for any out of pocket costs for the seal replacement. This was a very pleasant surprise indeed and has replaced my faith in the KitchenAid product as they DO stand behind their product. There may be a takeaway here for Whirlpool to make it easier for Canadian clients to escalate a problem. A customer relations email address, phone number?

We have had a lot of problems with this microwave. The door locks and does not open (happened twice! I had to take it apart to replace the plastic mechanism). The light bulb burned out. This is NOT a consumer serviceable item! (Im a licensed electrical engineer; I think I can replace a light bulb without getting shocked by the capacitor!) I found one online and fixed it. The latest problem is the microwave runs with the door open! It happened earlier today. Then it worked fine, but it just happened again! We put something in and started it and then it timed out and stopped. We opened the door and it started running again. This is DANGEROUS! I have small children and the microwave is mounted below the counter! I dont want my children getting hurt by this hazardous device! We chose KitchenAid because we thought it had a reputation for quality. Boy, were we wrong! We have had problems with our other KitchenAid appliances as well, but the microwave is the worst!

We have had 9 service calls to date each requiring a 1/2 day of our time waiting for the appointment at home. The freezer has failed totally 3 times and the refrigerator then fails a few days later. We have lost our food three times and had damage to the floor as a result of the ice maker defrosting. Our last service call replaced the last operating part, and it failed in three days. Today, KitchenAid will require 7 to 10 days to determine what to do. And if they decide to replace it, another 2 or more weeks. So we have no refrigerator again for at least a month!!!! We bought a KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDL03IVWH0 in December 2008. It has leaked since the first time we ran it. We were both commuting long distances to work, trying to get moved in after putting our stuff in storage to have all the floors redone, have otherwise busy lives, and agreed my husband would fix it or call to get it fixed. To make a long story short, we put a cup under and forgot about it until after the warranty ran out. The extended warranty is $309.95 for a year, which did not seem worth it since it was a manufacturers defect - we did not want to give them any more money. Called Kitchen Aid to advise that my stainless steel Kitchen Aid refrigerator began developing rust marks 2 years after purchase despite using stainless steel cleaning product recommended. Advised that cosmetics such as rust or discoloration after 30 days from date of purchase are not something they will address. Advised that they do not sell warranty for rust or discoloration. My Kitchen Aid stainless steel range which was purchased at the same time also has a spot where it is discolored. I expect this is only the beginning. The stainless steel used is manufacturing Kitchen Aid is obviously VERY poor quality. When I asked both the customer rep and the manager if Kitchen Aid considered it okay that their products should begin rusting after 2 years, they stated that they were only saying that after 30 days cosmetic issues like rust and other discoloration is not something they can help with. Nor is it something that they will warrant. If you are looking for your appliances to look good in your kitchen for more than a couple of years, I do not recommend Kitchen Aid.

I have a 4 year old Kitchenaid Dishwasher. We spent over $1,000 for it thinking we were investing in a very nice, long lasting machine. After a year, the right clip on the top rack broke and needed to be repaired by a technician. 6 months later the other side broke and we needed another service call. In the last few weeks, all 8 wheels have fallen off the bottom rack. We run the dishwasher about once every three days. I spoke to Kitchenaid customer service this morning via their online chat. The service representative admitted that there were so many complaints about my model that it should have been recalled. She said there was nothing she could do for me. When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

Purchased all new appliance for our renovated Kitchen in May of 2017. They were installed towards the end of June, and we started having issues with the refrigerator within months. This is Model KRFF305ESS00, French doors, with water dispenser inside on the left-hand side. Once you fill a glass with water, the water dispenser doesn’t shut off properly and continues to drip... not one or two drips... but constantly. I phoned and the first serviceman they sent out told me that there was nothing wrong with it, and that is just the way it is. I called back, they sent another service guy out who said “that’s not right, but I’m not really sure what’s going to fix it, but I will order a new water tank and tube and see if that does the trick. I will also order a new air damper because it seems to be grinding and it shouldn’t be”.Two weeks later he returned with the parts, installed them, and it worked better for about a month. Now it’s still dripping, and the noise it makes sounds like it’s going to take off. I just called with warranty department, and there is no more coverage. It will cost $139 plus tax just to have someone come out and then more money for whatever parts they want to try next, that likely won’t work. My husband says “take it to the dump, it’s a piece of $3,000 garbage”!!! We will be shopping for another refrigerator... and it won’t be KitchenAid. How do these people stay in business??? Oh... Cathy on the warranty line, sure was trained properly... All she could say was “I certainly understand how you feel, but there is nothing we can do about it”!!!

The service man said the problem was Kitchenaid (who I think is Whirlpool) designed dishwasher so the silverware basket was located too close to the heating element in the back portion of the machine. The pieces of plastic crumbled and fell into the dishwasher, and caused the pump to fail. I immediately complained to KitchenAid. They immediately sent me a new basket. I asked at that time if their design was a flaw, and should these dishwasher be recalled. I was told no design failure, just basket worn due to silverware. We place all our silverware in the basket with the handle down so there is never a cause for anything to cut the basket. I have done this for 25 years with all my dishwashers. Well, now, I have to call a serviceman in again and yes, there are holes in the basket where the heat prematurely eroded the plastic which fell into the pump area. I called KitchenAid to see if they would send me another basket. They said, sorry, Charlie but your warranty is up. Over the past 35 years, I have owned KitchenAid dishwasher. Back when Hobart owned KitchenAid, they cared about quality. Unfortunately, Whirlpool only cares about shipping bad designed products. For sure it was a bad design, but I doubt if any consumer protection agency can do much. These companies are not only located outside the US, but the Federal Government cannot do anything about this poor workmanship.Maybe someday in the future, there will be a US engineer and entrepreneur who has their head on straight to design and manufacture a dishwasher in the US again. Until then, I suggest strongly that everyone wash their dishes the old fashion way in a sink until a company can start designing and manufacturing a quality dishwasher here in the US.We really deserve to go back to the old method of washing dishes by hand until this happens. Might take another 2 or 3 generations though! Fed up with the lack of quality of everything sold in the US.

The KitchenAid dishwasher I purchased in November 2019 is pretty, and its the quietest one Ive ever had. When its running, its hardly noticeable. But...its simply not good at thoroughly cleaning every dish and utensil, especially for the price point (≈$900), to warrant spending the money on it. Add to this, it is horrible at drying the dishes/utensils. I would not purchase again. I bought a suite of KitchenAid appliances when I got it as part of an entire kitchen remodel. The double-oven, dual fuel range and above-range microwave with vent are fantastic, and the cabinet-depth refrigerator is decent. But whoever designs and then builds KitchenAids dishwashers needs to go back to the drawing board. Next purchase will be a Bosch. Stay away from this model from KitchenAid.

We bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher from a wholesale dealer in Mississauga, Ontario less than a year ago with a 3-year extended warranty. Seven weeks ago, the fuse burnt and had we not stopped the machine, there could well have been a fire hazard. The repairs was called via the wholesale dealer who directs you to KitchenAid head office who eventually send a repairman who tells us that the parts have to be ordered and will be in touch. Weeks drag into months and it 7 months now. The handler for the company incidentally is in the USA and we live and bought the equipment in Canada. Multiple calls followed and we are offered a 3-year extended warranty to placate our annoyance. It seems 94 people ahead of us are waiting for their parts. Threats to reach the decision makers are blocked. We are given 48 hours notice which turns to 3 days. We are thinking of connecting with the Toronto newspapers and the Better Business Bureau. Where else can we complain where it will be noticed by other consumers and heed taken?

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, model #KDPE234GPS0, in March of 2020. In November right before Thanksgiving, the pump and motor died. The service tech told me that this normally happens in about a year and a half. He was surprised it happened so soon. He told me to get an extended warranty because it will happen again. Its now January of 2021, still no dishwasher and KitchenAid said they dont know when parts will be available! I should have spent the extra money and bought the Miele like I had previously. DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! STAY AWAY!! Oh yeah and 1 more thing.. This thing always has an awful odor to it.

KitchenAid keeps telling us we need to reset the main breaker and refusing to refund or replace our product. We are so fed up with every night not being able to cook dinner as its more frequently not working and now when we try to turn the oven on, Feature Not Available flashes across the control panel not allowing us to do anything.

So I will start out by saying that I did not read the negative reviews before purchase. This was not my first oven purchase and should have done more homework. The all the positives were so POSITIVE! So, that being said, my oven is about 6 weeks old. Yesterday for the first time, I tried out the self-cleaning feature. It ran well for a few hours then completely went out. Nothing. I tried everything with the power and fuses but nothing. I have been trying to get someone to help me but I cant reach anyone. Sears repair wont touch it. I will call again on Monday to KitchenAid again. But seeing all of these poor reviews it is making me very nervous. I will have to say that this is a piece of junk. The glass on the inside is stained and gross. I will update this complaint again after KitchenAid gets back to me. But this is crazy. If consumer affairs knew about this problem with the fan and cleaning cycle, why is are they allowed to sell this crap? Class action, I want in. Should have never purchased a KitchenAid.

We bought our KitchenAid Built-In Refrigerator in 2008 for approx $7,500. We have had several issues with the Ice Maker. However, this week, the Main Controller Board went out and had to be repaired. The authorized repair company told us that the Board had been discontinued by KitchenAid and they would work to get the board repaired. I called KitchenAid and eventually got through to someone that explained that the company that produced this board is located in Japan and was hit by the Tsunami and can no longer provide the board. Also, we are out of warranty and this is now our problem. My issue is that I had expectations that this high-end expensive refrigerator would last more than 6 years. A built in refrigerator should be repaired not replaced. I find it unacceptable that KitchenAid wouldnt have a Dual Source for this key component to the refrigerator. Bottom Line - Very Disappointed in KitchenAid!

We remodeled our Kitchen and we bought a new oven, microwave, dishwasher, warmer all KitchenAid appliances. First time we heated up the oven to 350 degrees, it heated up to over 500 degree and burnt the bottom of the oven. The temperature settings are very off and wrong, everything we cook we have to use set it very low to get it to cook properly. Dishwasher does not clean correctly and it was leaking, they did come in and adjust it. It kind of works now. The Microwave has been repaired twice in the first year, and this model cost $1000. The warmer works fine.I will never buy anything KitchenAid ever again. We have had nothing but 3 years of issues, and the customer service repair guy did not have a clue on how to fix any of these appliances so he just keeps ordering parts and wasting our time for this $1000 microwave. Really disappointed in KitchenAid. They are the worst and most terrible customer service team. They never offered to replace any of the appliances and when we unpacked the microwave it had a ding in the front of it.

I have KitchenAid Refrigerator KFIV29PCMS/01 Serial K33102532 (Less than 2 years old). The unit wasnt cooling so we decided to call any service company to get it fixed. They found that there was a leak on the refrigerator evaporator. We tried to order the part but there was no record of the part number on the system, so we decided to call customer service and they told us that that part was not serviceable so we ask them to talk to a supervisor for an advice because we dont want to dump a refrigerator that was barely new. Finally they had someone from the service depart. calling and telling us that of course the unit can be service but it has to be service by them, because they warranty the sealed system for several years and that was part of the sealed system. They got all my info. Never heard from then. I tried to call back many times to find out for a solution. They make you wait... Then I tried the call me back option and yes they call you back and then they make you wait... and then they redirect your call and then they make you wait... and they redirect your call again. Conclusion Im stucked with a new broken refrigerator. They wont let you solved the problem not even if you pay for it and they dont freaking care. Really sad for such a big corporation.

After purchasing and installing a new Kitchenaid Architect Series II convection wall oven (KEBS109SS), the noise from the convection fan was overwhelming. I removed the oven from the wall and opened the rear panel when I noticed that the fan motor was loose. Further investigation helped me determine that the mounting screws were accessible from the inside of the oven by removing the panel covering the fan. Once I tightened the mounting screws, the sound from the convection fan is almost unnoticeable. I can understand the complaints made from other Kitchenaid owners concerning the irritating fan noise. Hopefully, this simple repair will eliminate their problem so they too can enjoy their ovens too.

We have a KitchenAid Double Wall Oven purchased at Sears in 2001. Just now, fully out of the ten year warranty. Its model no. YKEBSDB3 and serial no. YK210XXXX.This unit has been nothing but trouble since we got it and we are at the point of replacing it. In Canada, this unit sells for over $3500.00. I never even thought to check consumer reports before we bought because I knew (ha!) that KitchenAid appliances were the top of the line, had an excellent reputation, and felt so lucky that I could financially buy such an excellent set of ovens for the first time in my life. Boy was I ever wrong.I wont go through the litany of issues we have had but they are similar to the rest of the complaints and issues stated previously. We had a Warranty with Sears which has now run out. I have to say the serviceman who does the warranty work for Sears was wonderful and I have no issues with him but, he also disclosed problems with several similar ovens. One easy fix: we have had issues with the door hinges/springs deteriorating and the doors not fully closing, hence the oven not warming. A quick fix is to buy two approximately 1 diameter rare earth magnets and place them on the sides of the door about 3 down from the top so as not to affect the electronic panel. They will keep your door tightly closed.I too, would join in any class action suit against KitchenAid/Whirlpool and will continue to badmouth the company at every opportunity until they had the decency to admit publicly that there are problems with these ovens and offer to repair them free of charge. Thanks for the platform to speak up.

I have owned my KSF26CXYY04 side by side for about a year. It does keep food correctly cooled and there have not been problems with leaks or other mechanical issues. However, the drawers (bins) are designed so that all the tension is on tiny triangles. We have had two drawers crack at this stress point and consequently they are unusable. Replacement drawers were ordered $90 a piece plus $20 min. fee for delivery ($200 and counting). It wouldnt be bad if that solved the problem, but it is a matter of time before these also break. I learned Whirlpool/KitchenAid customer service definition: The customer is responsible for serving KitchenAid/Whirlpool. I purchased a YKDSS907SS04 less than a year ago. The burners do not work correctly, heating unevenly and either taking too long to cook or burning food. I contacted Customer service, who gave the call to their local authorized service center. They called me back telling me they are not licensed to work on dual fuel ranges and would send the call back to Whirlpool/KitchenAid. Then the nightmare began. I received a call from Whirlpools re-scheduling department telling me to find a local repair shop and send them the bill. I refused. It is not my job to do their job. I followed up with a fax, received a call from their Executive Office - a woman named Carrie **. I could not take the call at the time. I called her back several times over the period of a week and only received a prompt return call after I threatened to contact my attorney. The story did not change - since Whirlpool cannot provide customer service, it is my job as their customer to provide service to them by finding a repair shop in the local Yellow Pages. Nothing changed. The story the same - different name. When I suggested to Ms. ** that Whirlpool should not sell their products in a market where they cannot service them, she told with a screaming tone of voice, that Whirlpool did not sell me the unit directly - but wholesaled it to Sears. Oh well. Forgive my poorly informed status. I initiated the service call reluctantly since I am uncomfortable about the fact that this is not a KitchenAid service provider. However, I will probably get much better service from them - since KitchenAid expect me - their customer - to service them. Carrie ** constantly interrupted me, screamed, and informed me that she would note my file that I refused to find a local provider, which would delay the warranty repair process and be noted in any legal action. BTW does a delayed return phone call qualify? Ms. **s voice mail states that she returns calls within 48 business hours. Well, she only works 8 hour days - I forgot - meaning it takes 6 days to receive a call.

We purchased our Kitchen Aid dishwasher for about $1000.00, when we renovated our kitchen. From day one, it was not a great appliance. It did not clean the dishes well, and it actually dried specs of food onto plates instead of washing them off. The little compartment that holds the soap started sticking closed within 6 months from purchase. After a couple of years, the door started squeaking very loudly when it was opened or closed, which was followed by the door balance strings snapping, breaking, and throwing the door to the dishwasher wide open. We had to get the balance kit replaced, which by the way currently looks different than the old kit, and actually does not do the same job. Its way tighter. Because the door flew open when the strings broke, it caused the hinges on the side to bend. Those had to be replaced as well. These parts were replaced by a kitchen aid service person. After the parts were replaced, our dishwasher would no longer lock. We were told by the service person that our model had a lot of issues an d the parts that are made now do not match up with the actual dishwasher. When I spoke with Kitchen Aid about this, they played dumb. They told me it was out of warranty and they no longer covered any repairs beyond this. My argument is that they are not even providing people with correct replacement parts to get the units to work correctly, so it seems like they are breaking the rules of warranty by not supplying customers with correct parts. Its very disappointing that they dont do a recall on an appliance that has so many known problems.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher new in 2012. In just 3 years it has broke several times. First 4 times it was the upper rack wheel assembly. Plastic wheel retainer clip broke ($22 each piece online-easy to install). Using the broken racks I made a new and improved replacement wheel retainer. I drilled a hole through the piece and added a stainless steel screw and washer. Now when it breaks again next week, I will have a permanent fix for it. Most recently the touchpad control panel also has to be replaced on the unit. I called customer service and they said I had to have a licensed tech diagnose it. Luckily the touchpad is covered under the 2nd to 5th year warranty but I have to pay for labor ($100). I bought this brand for its reliability and as a loyal customer, I will definitely look elsewhere the next time it breaks. I shouldnt have to pay repair service for something under warranty. They are obviously making there money on replacement parts. Please do not buy this dishwasher. They do not care about quality and you will pay for it over time.

Two years ago we purchased all new kitchen appliances. We did all appliances with KitchenAid, french door refrigerator, dishwasher, countertop range and built-in oven and microwave. In the two years, we have had a gas stove top burner that would not light, the refrigerator stop cooling and freezing and now the upper rack on the dishwasher is broken and falls out when it has the weight of dishes. The stove top was in excess of $100 (but covered by warranty) and the refrigerator was in excess of $1200 (just squeaked in under the 2 yr warranty), the dishwasher part is $45, not covered by warranty. This range (Frigidaire Gallery 30 electric range model# CGEF304DK) was included in our new home purchased last year. The range looks nice but the oven racks repeatedly fall down causing the food and pans to spill out! This problem I was told was due to my neglect. Are they kidding? Steel racks are not long enough to stay in contact with the oven sides! The racks are not distorted or bent they just fall down. This could cause serious flesh burns and or a catastrophic fire if unattended for any short time period. KitchenAid totally abandoned their responsibility in this matter. I have a $2850 piece of fruit in my kitchen that is less than one year old. Its a lemon made by KitchenAid. I purchased the refrigerator KFIS29BBMS00 in brand new condition from a Texas appliance retailer in North Richland Hills in September of 2012. All was well until six months later, in March of 2013, the refrigerator stopped keeping the non-freezer items cool and ice was forming around the ice maker in the upper refrigerator, and also inside the door of the freezer. They, KitchenAid, dispatched an appliance technician for diagnostics. Lets start the count off for personal days of vacation stolen by these guys. (1 day) Evaporator fan ordered, and installed 10 days later mid April. (2 days) Load noise and additional ice build up 1 week later, service call scheduled. Same repair guy, different day. Parts ordered to replace faulty fan. (3 days) Two weeks later, installed firmware upgraded circuit board. (4 days vacation) In late June, the ice maker stopped working, service scheduled mid July with new service company and technician. (5 days vacation) Of course, parts ordered again... This time, the technician had them shipped to my house.About 12 days later, we received a parts shipment. We called KitchenAid when we received the parts package, asking when the service company was supposed to be back. They contacted them and they were out the next day. (6 days of vacation) Unfortunately, there were two additional parts being shipped and the repair could not be completed. Should not someone have known this dependency when we called? Fast forward an additional two weeks, now we are in early August and we called the service company again since all the parts are in. They cant come out until Sept 3, and in the meantime the refrigerator is making a very loud annoying noise. So, we called KitchenAid to report it and let them know we could not have the appliance serviced with the previous work order since the service provider stated they were only authorized to repair the ice maker. KitchenAid dispatched a third appliance repair company, who was scheduled by KitchenAid for 8/26, then no call no show. They said they did not receive a work order from KitchenAid, but assured me they could make it tomorrow, 8/26. (7 days vacation lost) The third repair company came out today, 8/27, and said they cant repair the refrigerator until the other company completes their work order. (8 days of vacation) Remember now, I still have another appointment scheduled for 9/3/2013, so count on another vacation day, totaling 9 for now and counting.

I bought a KSCS25INS00 side by side and in its 3rd year of operation, the center wall between the fridge and the freezer started getting too hot to touch. When I bought the fridge from Sears, it stayed in their warehouse for one and half year (paid for) due to some family issue and therefore, when the problem happened, I was told it’s out of warranty. A technician checked it out and claimed the control board is bad. To my surprise, some time later, I was told KitchenAid does not sell this part anymore and I have to send it to some rebuilder for the tune of almost $500.00 plus shipping and of course, labor (about $875.00). I don’t think this a fair deal, to spend nearly $3000.00 for a fridge (I figured buying high end appliance will have fewer problems). That’s not bad enough. I had bought a stove and a dishwasher as well. The stove shows an error message and I have to pull it out and disconnect and reconnect every so often. The dishwasher had broken basket pieces and broken door spring line and roller. Now Im in the hell of a mess. From day one when the side by side refrigerator KSC24C8Eyp02 was delivered with the wrong handles and door was scratched with a buffer or something UNDER the stainless steel factory protective plastic cover. KitchenAid appliances have been 13 months of hell.

The dishwasher cleans the dishes reliably without worry! It was purchased in 1993 and it is still running great! It is a standard size dishwasher with a place separate for utensils. It is the top of the KitchenAid line at that time. It is the standard KitchenAid Superba from 1993. It has a black, shiny front with chrome control buttons. I have owned this dishwasher for a very long time. I have had one service call on it. I hope it lasts forever! The newer units are said to be less reliable and not as good at cleaning. I love this dishwasher. I am very pleased with it!

Our KitchenAid model KUDD01DSSS stainless steel dishwasher is a double drawer unit with plastic interior. It is very nice for my wife and I and small loads but probably not as useful for a family. It is a bit noisy and seems to run quite a long time. This is a 2006 model, so perhaps a newer model would be more efficient and address the noise issue. Overall, I have been satisfied with this dishwasher.

We’ve had many KitchenAid products and all have pretty reliable. Purchased top of the line model dishwasher 2 years and 4 months ago. The control board just went out. The part is covered by warranty but NOT THE LABOR. That is $249, about 1/5 of the original price. For the purchase price and the company’s profit margin, I wish companies would quite these boards from China because they are junk.

Purchased range KSEG950E in January 2016. The oven never has worked properly. I have had service out at least a dozen times. Purchased the extended warranty out of necessity and have regularly had technicians out for service. I’m told each time that there is nothing wrong. My oven does not hold temperature. I set it and it will vary up or down 50-75 degrees during baking time. This is totally unacceptable to me as a baker. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid, I usually love their products. We are about to trash this very expensive range and buy another brand!

Bought this particular microwave based on looks and price. Turns out its been a pretty good purchase and has outlasted all the others Ive purchased before it. The mechanical bits are kind of a pain though: The door mechanism is iffy sometimes; and the wheels on the ring below the turntable arent of good quality polymer... One chipped at some point and now it goes thunk, thunk, thunk as my meal/drink/whatever is warming up.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator in Sept 2014 for nearly $3000. On Oct 1, 2015 the refrigerator was warm resulting in loss of most of the food. I called my authorized dealer, Poirier Sales of Norwood MA, where I purchased the fridge and requested service that day. They came out and charged me $169 house call and found that the SEALED waterline was blocked which resulted in the fan freezing up and had stopped working. The fridge was 1 year 2 weeks old! I called KitchenAid and they REFUSED to pay the house call charge of $169. Why is shoddy workmanship the norm? I will NEVER buy a KitchenAid product again.

We spent a bunch of money on KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and double range) when we remodeled our kitchen and, if I could, I would like to go back in time a slap myself in the face for making this decision. KitchenAid appliances are GARBAGE. One side of our fridges french door pops opens then the other side closes. This is a nightmare when you have kids because it basically ensures that your fridge is open ALL OF THE TIME.The dishwasher doesnt work very well. We previously had a Bosche brand dishwasher and I SO wish we stayed brand loyal because that brand was terrific. The KitchenAid dishwasher doesnt completely clean our dishes, it does more of an 80% cleaning making us have to rewash some items after they been through the KitchenAid process. The nobs on the stovetop have broken twice now...I think you get the idea. We bought KA because we thought we were buying a premium brand and nothing could have been further from the truth. We will NEVER buy anything from this brand again and if my ship ever comes in I will happily throw this crap away and buy new appliances immediately.

Have been purchasing KitchenAid for years. Usually very satisfied. However, their products have changed. They are not made as well as they used to be. Especially this dishwasher. I have to clean it at least once a week with dishwasher cleanser. The dishes still come out dirty and that’s after I also rinse off the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I usually have to run the cycle twice to get them clean, and even then the dishes still don’t come out completely clean. I’ve also tried different brands of dishwashing detergent and finishing rinses. Even if I reduce the number of dishes I put in the dishwasher, I still get the same results. I had the machine looked at while it was under warranty. All they did was clean the arms. I was still getting the same results. KitchenAid did nothing for me and once it was out of warranty, they wouldn’t do anything. Now I’m stuck with a terrible dishwasher.

During a dinner party the week before Christmas, the oven door exploded in my 2 month old, second use of Superba model #KEB-277, which original cost is nearly $2,500. It took me being a proactive consumer, spending about 1/2 hour a day for 6 weeks for the final repair to take place. The first warranty repair company just did not show up for an appointment. Finally, it took to making two appointments with different companies just to make sure someone showed up to look at the problem. Second company was wonderful - however, it still took me being involved with KitchenAid Safety Division”, their customer service and HHGregg (who told me it wasnt their problem since the 30 day warranty had expired! ), to finally get pieces to repair the door.Since neither KitchenAid nor HHGregg saw any need to replace a defective product, I insisted on all 2 new pieces of glass, a new steel shell that had been dented with the explosion, and all new racks. The problem is behind me, but I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance nor buy any product at HHGregg.

KitchenAid freestanding induction range model KIRS608bss, purchased new, 4/12/13 3 months later the oven stopped working. I bake a lot so I knew when my baked products were taking 20 minutes longer than normal. I called for service and the first 2 times the tech literally said that all oven temperatures vary, this is to be expected! By the 3 call my oven started blinking message across the stovetop panel. They finally replace the computer system and told me I no longer had a warranty. At this point my range was 4 months old.. This same model although the oven is working the cleaning part is not. I have tried multiple time but the water does not get hot enough or steam long enough to clean the oven. To make matters worse, the front glass panel has so many grease stains in between the two glass panels that Im embarrassed to have people in my kitchen as it appears I have never cleaned the glass.. I was told the only way it can be cleaned is to remove the screws and bolts inside, clean the inside of the panels then replace. The technician also said its a waste of time as those streaks will come back the first time you use your oven and each time you remove the screws the tightness of the door panel loosens and heat will escape..

This dishwasher KUDS30IX is the worse single appliance I have ever owned period. Cheap plastic rack, adjustment brakes, and sheds plastic parts into the sump destroying the food grinder and impeller on the wash pump. I have had this repaired 4 times under the extended warranty in three years. Now it has failed again. Still under warranty but now I have to take a day off of work AGAIN to meet the repairman. Repairman said that it was good I had the extended warranty as the repair would have been $350.00! KitchenAid/Whirlpool never again on a dishwasher. I have owned other KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances and they have been of good quality with minimal issues. If you still want to purchase a KitchenAid/Whirlpool dishwasher product after reading this be sure to get the extended warranty. You will need it. P.S. I would have given it a zero star rating but 1 is as low as the website will allow.

We spent $6000.00 for a built-in side by side 48 inches refrigerator. Nothing but trouble with the ice machine. First, it froze up soon after purchase. They sent a appliance person out. He said just break up the ice. How stupid was that? The next appliance person, the water is leaking into the motor of the ice dispenser freezing it up. When exposed, you could see all the frozen ice. A lot of it. No wonder the motor wont work, it was frozen up. When the new part came, it had a new part with it. This rubber washer was to stop the water from going into the motor and freezing it again. Now these motors are not cheap. So this was a design flaw. Here we go again: same problem even with the new rubber washer. It’s frozen up solid. It makes a lot of ice you just can’t get it out of the dispenser. I am sure there are a lot of people that have this same problem. This started before the warranty was out. This is a two years and 9 months appliance. There’s trouble with the ice maker all the time. They just tell you your warranty is out even though they made a flaw in the ice machine design.

I absolutely love my KitchenAid dishwasher. It is so quiet you cannot tell is running. It is energy-efficient and the temperature of the water can be increased if necessary. There are three racks in the machine. The very top rack is flat and holds either cooking utensils or knives, forks, and spoons. That rack can also be removed if you prefer. The machine also has a special feature where you can place bottles directly on individual water spouts that will shoot up into the bottle for a perfect cleaning. The other thing I love about it is Shane is that it has a removable cover that goes over the normal utensil holder automatically separate utensils so they will not stick together during the washing process.

After a thunderstorm and lightning storm our power went off. When the power came back on we had no control board lights - none. Oven not working. Called repair man - waited 2 days for new power board and replaced it. Same thing - no control board. Now he says he needs to change the control panel boards because he gets no power out from the power board he changed out that supplies power to the control panel on top. Well about $200 for a board he changed and they want another $400 for the control panel if we decide to order it. Those prices are w/out labor costs. Min $85 just for call out. Even if I replace this part that is no guarantee that the oven will work again. I could spend as much money as it cost me originally to buy it. It was not cheap for the Kitchen-Aide Superb gas range when I bought it. I can remember when people would replace ovens/ranges just because they wanted a newer bigger one. Not that anything was wrong with the one they had, they just wanted to replace something that had already given over 25 years of service and was given to someone else just starting out in life. Where is the quality of workmanship that used to be in the things that we build and buy? It seems like today the young people have been brainwashed into thinking that when something breaks it is to be thrown away and replaced. I guess the manufacturers have succeeded in instilling a real throw away society in our youth. It dont work, throw it away because it will cost you more to fix it than its worth. Rule of thumb should be if something is going to cost you about 50% of what it originally cost to buy it --- then throw it away. They dont make anything like they use to.

Ordered dishwasher (Model # KDFE304DWHO) 3-9-15, Lowes delivered & set up 3-25-15. Dishes not getting clean on any of the settings, scum accumulates behind the door on bottom, stainless steel inside stays wet & there is an odor. Repair man came 8-14-15, said I was using too much soap, told me to put soap in prewash cup only. Same day I called KitchenAid, Ester told me to put 1 dishwashing tablet in the main wash cup only, use a rinsing agent, run my dishwasher thru a clean cycle monthly (where is the clean cycle?) & do not prewash my dishes. Ester told me all about her mother owning the same dishwasher only a SS. I told Ester we have had dishwashers for many years & I have already tried all the troubleshooting that was required many times. I told her I wanted to exchange the dishwasher, this was not an option. She told me if I requested another service call, I would have to pay for it. I believe KitchenAid wants to stall you so your warranty will run out then say sorry.

Our side by side (high end) refrigerator stopped working. We called out a reputable service company and after trouble shooting, he determined the main power board was the problem. He traced it down to a built in relay(?). It was a part that could not be replaced. He needed to send it into KitchenAid to be repaired or replaced. In the mean time, the service man found a used one. A couple of weeks later the power board was returned by KitchenAid. The replacement part was no longer available nor were they repairing them! I paid for high-end KitchenAid appliances because of the reputation of quality and service, and Ive experienced nothing but the opposite; in 2 years, my refrigerator needed a cooling element replaced, my oven glass exploded across my kitchen (thank goodness my children were not standing there!), a heating element in my convection microwave needed to be replaced, and most recently a door switch in the microwave needed replacing because it was causing it to not operate. This last repair, I was out of the 2-year warranty by one month, and they are refusing to cover the $142 cost of the repair. They dont stand by their products. In 2 years, for the thousands of dollars we paid, nothing should go wrong with any appliances, let alone these many occurrences. And to not cover a repair being 1 month past warranty, especially with all of the other problems Ive had, even just to save face, is ridiculous for such a large company.

Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did. Take a magnet shopping with you and avoid Kitchenaid.
