The oven bakes perfectly even though it takes a while for the oven to reach temperature. The top electric 5 units are wonderful. I love the 3 racks. One has a handle type opening in the front and extends all the way out. The electronic display is easy to read and convert to convection baking or broiling. I havent tried the steam bake option yet, perhaps today when I make cookies. Repair shop recommended not using the auto clean as it heats to 800 degrees. So hello baking soda.

We purchased a Kitchen Aid gas stove-top in August 2010, for $1,323. Today, I noticed that the knob for the fan was cracked in two places, because it is made out of cheap junk plastic. We barely ever used that fan. We bought a Kitchen Aid stove, based on their reputation, which apparently they no longer deserve. I asked them to replace the obviously defective piece, but they just copied and pasted a bunch of warranty paragraphs. So instead of replacing the knob for me, they would rather have me write reviews of their product. So here it is!

Every Kitchen Aid appliance we own has failed. We have had multiple repairs to the refrigerator (compressor failed), dishwasher (door hinges made of cord failed), oven (multiple problems), microwave door, etc. Only after I started blogging all over the internet, did Whirlpool partially compensate us for repairs (that is a very long story). This month, the plastic tabs holding the vent above the microwave broke, and the oven racks rusted when I washed them. The oven self-cleaning cycle doesnt work very well either. I will never, ever, buy a Kitchen Aid product again. I will tell my story everywhere.

We built a new home and purchased all new appliances, including a very expensive KitchenAid dishwasher. The electronics burn out (and nearly cause a fire) after seven months. Kitchen Aid does not support its own product but relies on unreliable subcontractors. After already waiting for repairs for two weeks, now we are told the parts are not available. Frankly, I do not want a defective dishwasher to be defectively repaired. So far, KitchenAid will not honor our requests for a new dishwasher. This is poor product support and customer service. These are expensive dishwashers that you should avoid.

We bought a high quality KitchenAid dishwasher that leaked all over the floor 18 months later. Turns out the pump/motor assembly must be replaced at a cost of $459. The company could not care less. Im going to replace the motor assembly myself and I will never again buy KitchenAid even though my newly renovated kitchen was completely stocked with KitchenAid appliances. Ive never had such a problem with any other appliance in my 40 years of home ownership.

From the very start it only cleans the dishes if you put them in clean. Salesmen said I could put dirty dishes in. Not unless you want them coming out dirty. Everything has to be thoroughly rinsed before they go in, the regular cycles takes hours to run. So disappointed. I had my first KitchenAid for 15 years and it was quick and cleaned like it should. Repair man said everyone is complaining about the same thing. He had to fix the runners on the upper shelf because they were plastic and cracked. I would replace this in a second if I could afford to throw out the expensive piece of trash that it is. Picture are right after cycle ran, I turned dishes over to show insides for pictures submitted.

The first fridge was returned after a day when it never cooled. The replacement lasted 7 months and is currently at 65 degrees. Since it is still under warranty I must go through KitchenAid. Over the past week I have been placed on hold for 7 hours. The one time I did speak with someone about an exchange they were rude and misleading regarding the problems with this product, come to find out. When I had such a difficult time with corporate I went back to the dealer. After going through their channels, I was told that corporate tried to email me (not true) and wanted me to call them back! Can you believe that!

Our kitchen aid refrigerator, which is just about 5 years old, has an offensive odor when the door is ajar. We have thoroughly cleaned it with baking soda, have 2 baking soda canisters in the refrigerator. Two different repair people (factory authorized) have come, but done nothing to resolve the issue. In fact, they made matters worse, by not re-positioning the refrigerator correctly when leaving. We need assistance. We should not have to discard a 5-year old refrigerator.

I purchased a second Kitchenaid microwave KMCS1016GSSo after my first one lasted about 11 years. My custom cabinets were built to fit this microwave and trim kit. I purchased the extended warranty coverage although this model received poor ratings. But it fit perfectly into my cabinets. I specifically asked 2 years ago when purchasing the second unit if anything goes out on microwave would I receive a replacement. I was told “yes, we’ll replace the microwave since we don’t repair countertop models.”About 2 weeks ago the lcd display digits started to burn out. I checked online and found this same model is still being produced. I called Whirlpool who’s the parent company to discuss my options since I had 2 more years on extended warranty. After escalation to 3 levels of supervisors I was told they would only send me the depreciated amount of the microwave. The terms state replace or give cash settlement. But I was told at this time they are not replacing the microwaves. This is very upsetting and breach of what I was told when I purchased the extended warranty because this model fits my cabinet and trim kit.

Bought this built in fridge 2020. The doors slam so hard it will catch a finger or push you in the back as you load groceries. Also it gurgles so loud it annoying when you have any company. After several calls to KitchenAid they sent our service to replace springs, better but not great. They say no remedy for the gurgling. Unbelievable....This is a $9,000 fridge. I have purchased two KitchenAid gas ranges (yes, I should have learned my lesson the first time!). Both have been seriously problematic. Within a year of purchase, both locked up when I cleaned them for the first time, and I could not use them without a tech coming to my house to repair. One of those ranges had a faulty fan which did damage to another part due to overheating during the cleaning process, which resulted in damage to other parts! Most recently, the electronic range control on my Architect II went on my three-year-old gas range. So back to the repair techs. I will never purchase another KitchenAid stove. Based upon my experience and that of others, they are simply poorly manufactured and not reputable. Repair costs are ridiculous and I am thinking of replacing mine due to the high repair costs and lack of faith in this happening once again, at a time when I really need to use the stove!

I want to join in the conversation about NOT BUYING a KitchenAid refrigerator. Same problems as others. First water all over the floor from broken/backed up line. Now refrigerator completely stopped working. Service just left after stating that the main control board is fried. The servicer said he wouldnt even touch it until I spoke with KitchenAid because they no longer make the part and they will have to decide what will be done. Immediately called KitchenAid and was told they would have to file a claim and then decide what will be done. Its Tuesday. I have had no refrigeration since Friday and now I hear horror stories about the complete lack of response from manufacturer. Never Never Never buy a KitchenAid. I cant believe I did.

There are many issues with KitchenAid dishwashers manufactures with the past three years and KitchenAid DOES NOT stand behind their products. My mother had the motor leak on hers after three years of light usage. I’ve had to wash dishes by hand due to its inability of dispersing water after 2.5 years of normal use. KitchenAid only offers to replace parts but wants the consumer to pay for labor, as well as house calls to fix a very faulty product. My adjustable top rack also broke at 2 years. This is a shame when people pay close to a grand expecting a quality product that should be reliable for longer than 2-3 years. My 20 year old dishwasher was far more reliable than this overpriced hunk of junk!

I purchased my Kitchenaid Refrigerator on 8/15/2018 plus a Service Agreement with Safeware. The model number is KRFF507HBL. Within six months the freezer LED light extinguished. Within the another six months the LED lights extinguished in the refrigerator. I guess this is a common occurrence with this product. In the owners there is a sentence that states LED Lighting do not need to be replaced. Thats is obviously a lie. This has been very costly to repair and of course Safeware the Service Agreement plan will not cover lights. I will never purchase Kitchenaid product or buy a Service Agreement especially with a third party company. I am so disappointed but I stuck with product that is garbage and not living up to its good name.

We needed service on 3/18/16, only to find out that we need a NEW switch for our Ice maker dispenser. Shame on you! You are proud to make things American? Well the products SHOULD be made BETTER. After a little over 2 years, I must replace it to the tune of over $120.00. Now this Refrigerator was not the cheapest one you sell, but the most expensive. Shame! Shame! I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher in Nov 2016. The one with the window on front door. Gave trouble within a week. Waited 2 weeks for a serviceman who said pump was faulty. Said it would be another 2 weeks before that arrived. In meantime I insisted on Best Buy (where I bought it) giving me a new one. What a saga. A month later the new one eventually arrived. Guess what? Within a week same problem. Repairman again. Pump faulty again. Another 2 weeks. Pump replaced. Within a week same problem. Contacted KitchenAid direct which is really Whirlpool. Awful customer service. Scheduled a replacement this week but failed to keep appointment. Got a few hours notice. Theyre giving me another new one. Have told them this is the last one. If this one is crap like the last 2, then they just take it away. Not getting another. The control panel was faulty and the 3rd time it broke, KitchenAid paid for the replacement control panel but not the labor. When it broke again just 5 months after it was replaced, I decided not to fix it again and buy a new dishwasher (Bosch) and write this letter. I placed a review on this site regarding a catastrophic failure of a door seal on our very expensive fridge 3 years to the date after purchase. After numerous conversations with the Canadian warranty department and being told the part was not warrantied after one year I ordered a door seal from another provider and replaced the seal. I then wrote the review.Much to my surprise on Dec 4 The manager of Canadian Operations for Customer Relations Whirlpool contacted me to advise us they were prepared to send a service technician out to replace the seal at no cost to us. I advised the Manager that I had already replaced the seal and what the cost was. The Manager advised me to send him a copy of my receipt and that Whirlpool would reimburse me for any out of pocket costs for the seal replacement. This was a very pleasant surprise indeed and has replaced my faith in the KitchenAid product as they DO stand behind their product. There may be a takeaway here for Whirlpool to make it easier for Canadian clients to escalate a problem. A customer relations email address, phone number?

I purchased three appliances from KitchenAid - a dishwasher, gas range and a microwave. The microwave died and I had to buy another brand. The dishwasher had to have the panel replaced within a few months of use (fortunately under warranty then). The gas range KAID KSGA906PSS00 has had nothing but problems. The “Gas probe on” message problem is perennial even though I never use it. I have to reset the fuse switch off and mimic the probe as if I was cooking. The control panel died last year and I had to pay $303.45 to get it changed. Now a few months later, the oven does not shut off; I get the Cooking complete message which refuses to go away and I have to reset the fuse switch. I build new houses and new high end rentals. We have in the past used KitchenAid Refrigerators and dishwashers and stoves. I have 20 year old KitchenAid appliance in my own house. I purchased a new refrigerator 2 years ago for a new house I was building. It lasted less than 5 months before total failure. KitchenAid eventually replaced it after I spent 8 hours on the phone. This week a 15 month old KitchenAid dishwasher stopped working. The failure rate for Bosch appliances is about 1/2 the failure rate for KitchenAid. Customer Service for the new KitchenAid sucks at best. KitchenAid is now owned by Whirlpool and cannot care less about the old customers. If you want reliability and customer service buy Bosch or Miele. If KitchenAid cannot warranty their product for both part and labor for 2 years do not buy KitchenAid. The old KitchenAid company and its products and customer service is gone.

I echo what others have posted about Kitchenaids KFIS29 french door refrigerator - a total disappointment, buyers remorse, and Whirlpool must spend a lot of time and money making sure the people who answer the phone at their Customer experience Center are extremely polite while offering no solutions. From date of installation, Aug. 2013, the fridge never kept beverages and food in the upper unit cold, regardless of temp setting, the freezer simply could not keep items frozen, and the unit is loud. I chalked this off to the ill effects of being energy efficient. In the summer of 2014 I placed my first service call because the ice maker stopped making ice (never made much to begin with), the already high noise levels had increased, and the upper unit would not get below 43 degrees. When the repairman arrived, there was nothing I could tell him about the unit that he was not already very aware of. I was told I needed the kit and naturally the kit had to be ordered and I was told I had to call a special number at Whirlpool and order the kit. What an ordeal that was. In the mean time, the fridge started making a very loud sound like an impact hammer. Repairman can back out and found a huge amount of ice build up on the evaporator. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the noise. Ice removed, problem solved, at least for a while. A few days later the the freezer was frosting up so another call to the repairman. The freezer door gasket was faulty and had to be corrected. Finally, the parts needed to fix the ice maker situation arrived. The kit was to correct the issue with low ice production, frost build up between ice maker and rear of the fridge, and to correct the problem with water dripping down and onto the evaporator coils and freezing. The control panel and a couple of other parts were also replaced. All good? Not exactly. The fridge still was not cooling, water was leaking from ice bin, and the noise level was still very high. Trying to get this thing fixed within warranty period, I call for service once again. The repairman and Whirlpool tech center ran tests and determined I needed a new evaporator and several other parts related to the cooling system. I called the Customer experience Center and requested a new unit. I was politely told that I had not had enough problems to warrant a replacement and that as long as the unit was + or - 5 degrees of the recommended temp settings (37 upper / 0 freezer) it was considered acceptable. Do not know about you but 43 or higher degree milk is not good and ice cream is suppose to melt after you take it out of the freezer. I was told by a Supervisor that since I had experienced some problems with the unit they would extend my factory warranty for six months. I was told if the parts on order did not correct the issues we could talk about a replacement then. OK, all the parts came in and were installed. Things appeared to be good for about two months except for the fact that around 37 degrees is as cold as the upper unit appears to be able to do, 34 would be my preference. In mid Oct 2014 I noticed low ice production, the noise level increasing, water dripping from the ice bin again, and there is frost building up again between the ice maker and back of the fridge again. I called the Customer experience Center to discuss replacement. I was told that since it had been more than 30 days since the repairs I would have to have a repairmen come out and and get on a call with tech support and diagnose the problem and oh, by the way, the unit is no longer under factory warranty. I advised that I had been told and assured that my factory warranty had been extended for 6 months. I was basically told that I was not told that and it would be impossible for that to occur. When I provided the name and date that I was told the warranty was extended I was told there was no one there by that name. It should be noted that only two people live in the house and thus it is not like the fridge is in a constant state of opening and closing and so on. To sum up, I have had to take off work 7 times for the fridge to be looked at and actual repairs to be made. I have absolutely no confidence that any further repairs will produce long lasting results. Looking at the dates of comments about the KFIS29, it appears no changes have been made to the fridge since people are reporting the same problems on units recently purchased as people who purchased them a year or more ago have experienced. If you are looking for a french door fridge you might want to not have this one on your short list.

We purchased our dishwasher (as part of a full set as a matter of fact) 2 years ago. It’s quiet, but has stopped washing dishes. We only use the soap and dry aid recommended by the manufacturer, and the dishwasher itself is cleaner regularly. The soap dispenser opens, but unless the bottom rack is left half empty, Ten soap doesn’t come out of the dispenser, or comes out but doesn’t dissolve. We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher model # KUDS301XSS in February 2012. We previously owned a KitchenAid for 18 years and NEVER ever had a service call on it! Now this new one is less than 2 years old and the rollers on the top rack have broken (they are plastic). Then when I set the buttons to run the washer, it would act like it was going to start, then cancel and drain! Found out today from the repairman that this is a common problem. The pump is out! Says this happens frequently usually within the first 5 years! Thankfully I did purchase the extended warranty but on a dishwasher that cost nearly $1,000 one should not have to! I will NEVER purchase a KitchenAid again! Also, bought KitchenAid Refrigerator a year ago. And have already had to replace the ice maker and had a service call about a leak in one of the hoses! So disappointing!

Three years ago I upgraded my entire kitchen with stainless KitchenAid appliances, after much research - with a hefty price tag. I liked that the products were made in the USA and that they were considered high-end appliances. I even replaced a Bosch dishwasher (it did not live up to its reputation). The oven cost $1500 and change at the time of purchase, and the model is now over $1900. Two and a half years later my oven started having problems - it turns off during cooking and will not come back on. I had repair people out several times but they could not fix it. Turns out it needs a whole new keyboard, which is over $800 just for the part. I tried to contact KitchenAid customer service - yes, this was out of the 1 year warranty but I felt that it should not be having such problems after only 2.5-3 years (the oven that I replaced was 15 years old and was in perfect working order - and was a much lower-end appliance).Anyway, I have tried in vain to get KitchenAid to help me but they will not. My dishwasher has also had several pieces fall off that have had to be replaced. You would think this company would help their customers but no, they ignored my letter. All I wanted was to purchase a new oven at a discount - which they would normally allow but they will not let me do so because I have a home warranty plan (which I had not used to help in any way other than to diagnose the issue). Shame on KitchenAid for such horrible customer service, and for selling overpriced appliances that do not last and definitely are NOT worth the high prices. My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel
My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel failure twice now. The first time it’s just the oven that would not light and one of the panels (there are evidently 3) was faulty and was replaced under warranty. The second time the electronic control panel short-circuited and turned on the convection fan, which got red hot. Sparks and smoke were coming from under the burners, which is where the panels are located. I was not using the stove at all, but thankfully I was home! I was able to throw the circuit breaker in the basement. When the stove stopped glowing red, I pulled it out from the wall and unplugged it. The repairman that first came is no longer available. I have not been able to find anyone that has a card for both electric and gas. Customer service expressed regret that they could not help me find a repairman, but said to let them know should I find one. What? I will not repair this stove. I consider it an extremely dangerous appliance and do not want it in my house. I feel that Whirlpool should do everything they can to correct the situation for other consumers. Ive found other mention of the same failure with this model.

I am sorry I did not use this site before I purchased my KitchenAid refrigerator. Apparently, they do not stand by their shoddy product. I have had the same issues as most. The icemaker broke two years after purchase. Now after 6 years, the two circuit boards are broken and need to be replaced. The total cost for this could go up to $800. I had a service person look at it and replace the inverter board at a cost of $450. Two days later, the fridge got hot and service guy came back. He diagnosed that the main board needed to be replaced. KitchenAid does not even have this part anymore. Now I have to send out my part for repair and be without a fridge for more than a week. I am disgusted! Never again will I buy KitchenAid products.

We purchased the KitchenAid Dishwasher with built-in water softener not last summer, but the previous one (less than 2 years ago). A few weeks ago, we were sitting in our family room when we noticed acrid smoke pouring out of the dishwasher, and an electrical popping noise (shorting). We ran and turned off the power at the breaker box. Sure enough, the control panel was smoking and completely dead. Thankfully, we were in the next room in our open concept home or this could have turned into a major fire. We paid almost $1000 for this dishwasher, hoping that the better model & water softener would mean it would last longer. Do NOT buy this dishwasher as it is UNSAFE to have in your home. We walked away from the Whirlpool brand over this, after many years of brand loyalty to Whirlpool and its family of brands.

And within the last month (after ~5 months of use), the green clean light no longer resets automatically like it is supposed to when the door is opened after removing clean dishes. All kinds of bells and whistles that are really cool but they failed so quickly? And lights arent covered by the warranty?!?! Really!?!?

This is the second Kitchenaid refrigerator I owned. The first one had problems right from the start. Multiple repairs within the year. Symptoms were not cooling properly, no ice, ice buildup on evaporator coil. Kitchenaid finally replaced the unit because of leak in sealed system. The second one came Jan 2018. By March had issues again. The same problems. Ice build up, no ice, not holding temp. 5 more house calls, loss of food, missed work then conveniently after the manufacturers Warranty expired Kitchenaid deemed it unrepairable. How convenient. I could have told them that back in March. The only problem is that now I am in extended warranty and they only offer 70% of the value. They would not say why it was unrepairable (the sealed system again which should have a 5 year manufactures warranty). I know this because its the same problem as the first one and the same symptoms on last house call. What else would be unrepairable?? I spent 4 hours on phone trying to get satisfaction but they just said, I can transfer you but it will be same answer. Unbelievable that they would rather lose customers for life than replace what is apparently a Manufacturing issue. You can search for class action lawsuits and find many complaints on the same issue. They simply do not care.... I actually believe they deliberately instructed the repair people what to do to stretch out the time to avoid giving me another replacement or my full purchase price money back. I bought Model KRFF707ESS01 for $3,500. Never had a working unit for more than a few months.

For such an expensive dishwasher, it does not clean dishes well. Also, the unit is less than 5 years old and the door balance parts break? They are made of nylon cord and plastic, attached to a metal door and metal spring. Why in the world would you use such flimsy materials for such a heavy door? I nearly injured myself when the door came crashing down, just missing my foot (the repair parts were in shipment). And after reading all the complaints here I am not impressed.

We purchased a KitchenAid (R) 5-Burner Gas Freestanding Double Oven Range 4 years ago. Almost from the beginning, we have had problems, particularly with the controls. We have had to replace one, or possibly two (cant remember) of the handles, three times, all at our cost. They simply were stuck and would not turn. However, what is more of concern is that the controls will turn to the on position simply if I brush up against one of them. Oftentimes I will hear the click, click, click that alerts me that the controls have turned on but have not ignited. However, frequently, there is no click; I am just alerted to the fact the stovetop has turned on when I begin to smell gas. This seems to me to be a major safety issue. I have talked to the company, to no avail. They tell me its out of warranty and I would have had to address this issue within the first year. As these things go, I cannot remember when we first experienced the problem. I suspect I probably thought it was just a fluke at first and did not think much about it. But, regardless, I would think KitchenAid would want to assure that no one experiences a major gas leak due to their faulty equipment.

I have owned the KitchenAid Pro Scrub for two years. I purchased on the previous reputation of KitchenAid, and what a complete disappointment. What I was told about the dishwasher was, it is quiet, heats water to ultimate sanitation, no need to rinse, with garbage disposal, high powered, is an excellent option... the dishes have not gotten cleaned even pre-rinsing from day 1. Called the company I purchased the dishwasher from and the claim is I was not using the correct chemicals to clean the dishes. Really? I was told the dishwasher was the top product for cleaning the dishes... not chemicals. The dishwasher was somewhat quiet at the beginning but progressively became noisy, cleans off and on, and now, water does not make it up to the top basket. Followed the troubleshooting recommendations to check for blockages, although I always pre-rinse. No blockage; however, no water is getting to the top basket. Even tried dropping the basket to the lower setting and no luck. The top basket drops down and forward. The plastic pieces to the top sprayer in the back of the dishwasher does not line up properly, the plastic piece on the back is possibly warped. This is a very bad product.

Either the top or the bottom oven will not heat, the igniters on the burners has gone out several times. When we tried to find a repairman, there is not one in available anywhere in our area. We have tried several local repairmen. They replace numerous parts and we have been charged $200 to $300 dollars each time. The website for KitchenAid has been absolutely no help at all. The model number according to the inside of the machine is W10502126A. Now I just purchased a one year parts/labor warranty which was not cheap to have them come out to replace the panel. We have had nothing but problems, and KitchenAid Customer Service will not waive the service fee and parts cost to have it fixed. I have been calling and discussing this issue with them for over a year, and they wont help me resolve the issue. I was always under the impression that this company made durable products and stood by them, and it seems to be a BIG disappointment. It is now nothing but a fixture in our kitchen and hasnt been used since the summer of 2012. KitchenAid is NOT a company of customer service and product integrity. Buy at your own risk. Our KitchenAid oven/convection oven combo with Microwave Model # KEMS308SWH blew a fuse while on self-clean. Repairman said that KitchenAid ovens blow fuses all the time while on self-clean. He suggested that I not try to use that feature again because it will happen again and that Kitchen Aid tends to overheat. Repairs are expensive since the entire oven has to be removed from the wall and the back removed to access the fuse. We now realize that we have paid over $3000 for an oven with a feature we cannot use and, after reading other complaints, could even be dangerous. Kitchen Aid should do something about this immediately.

We bought a top of the line KitchenAid refrigerator, including an icemaker, about 2 1/2 years ago when we rebuilt our home after a fire. It has a stainless steel door to match the other appliances in out kitchen. Initially, everything worked fine. More recently, the ice was melting in the ice maker and it was jamming. The door also has become damaged and started rusting. We didnt buy the extended warranty, so we had a repair person come to service the refrigerator. He replaced a part and recharged with some freon. The repair cost $500. The ice was still melting (about a month later), so we asked the repair person to come again. He said the compressor is faulty and has to be replaced. It would have to be shipped from outside the country and would cost more than $1,000 (plus labor!). We have decided to replace the refrigerator.

The water on the door does not work at all, the door for the filter does not snap closed. The water was leaking so badly at one point I had to shut the water line off. I am on the my second service company and they still cant get it right. And that is just the refrigerator!!! Two of knobs on the stove were bent. The vented microwave above the stove has a handle that gets so hot you risk third degree burns if God forbid you forget to cover your hand before you pull the door open! I rarely use the dishwasher so I cant comment on that. PLEASE stay away from KitchenAid especially the Bella series!! Kitchen Aid Refrigerators Model KBFC42FTSOO - Shame on you KitchenAid. I have several media contacts and once they report on all this I am hopeful that consumers will boycott your product. I also bought a 6300.00 refrigerator from the Great Outdoors in 2011. They were closing and since Sears owned them I purchased a floor model that was on display in a cabinet but had no power on to it. So I figured I saved 1100.00 between the brand new one. Wrong, I was told by the salesperson that it was a new model but when it was delivered and I tried to register it, it was manufactured in 2007. I called the store and Sears but since my receipt was stamped no refunds or exchanges they got me good. So now 3 years later the damn thing never worked right from the start and I have called it a piece of ** from the beginning. Guess what, my control panel out!! They do not have the part, tsunami story told and then broken contract with other company. I immediately called KitchenAid because I could not believe what this Tech was saying. Either I find an outside company with a rebuilt Control Panel or I can wheel the refrigerator to the side of the and basically its junk. KitchenAid confirm that they did not have the part and that the manufacturer was destroyed in the tsunami and the other company that has been listed several of these others complain are no longer is willing to make the control panels for them. I might have a chance of them rebuilding one for me directly and proceeded to provide the phone number for me which was wrong having to call them back and spend another 30 minutes on the phone. Another woman gave me two different phone numbers, none of them worked as well. After the third phone call I was provided with a company name and phone number they gave me that will certainly sell me a rebuilt one. I just paid $1200 for a rebuilt board. Interesting enough this company is offering a 10 year warranty on a rebuild control panel however KitchenAid only offers a one year warranty. I am sure kitchen Aid knew there was problems with this board for years. They should have recalled that or extend the warranty. I have never heard of a company not having a part in to be able to fix these refrigerator when people have paid so much money for them. Unless you have a money tree in your backyard and are able to pick enough for a new $8500-$10,000 refrigerator which I do not. They should stock the part and be able to control the market from other outside companies hiking it up prices to their desperate customers that just need their refrigerators fixed, realistically the part probably cost about $2.00 to make. I called KitchenAid as well, they said theyre putting in my case up for review to do the prorated. Its changed. From what Ive heard $1500 doesnt equal $6000 and these parts are not that expensive to obtain. This is absolutely the most hideous thing Ive ever seen a company do. This is the United States. This is a huge corporation. I hope everyone never buys a KitchenAid product again. Why would anyone in their right mind take $1500 for refrigerator thats worth more so we have no choice but to go to outside venues for these parts? Again outrageous, ridiculous and the most disgusting thing a manufacturing company can do. If they’re so willing to cough up the prorated amount why dont they do the right thing and at least split the cost of the part with the consumer if theyre giving them willy nilly numbers of outside companies and not controlling the market. Why would a company offer a 10 year warranty and not the manufacturer? I have purchased KitchenAid products for years. My whole kitchen is full of this top-of-the-line series. I will be slowly changing every single KitchenAid product out of my kitchen and if I am going to spend the money on that type of product itll certainly be Sub-Zero that offers a 12 year warranty from top to bottom on the refrigerators. There are hardly any bad reviews about Sub-Zero. KitchenAids competitors seems like they at least know how to stand behind their consumer. Shame on you KitchenAid. This is disgusting. Oh by the way, the tech Whirlpool factory care that KitchenAid called for me cause if I used someone else, my what little of a piece of junk warranty is left would be void. Charged me $145.00 for call and removal of board and oh by the way I have to have him reinstall the board for another $145.00. Cause warranty on motor and compressor will be voided if I reinstall. Pissed off!!

This may be a fine refrigerator; maybe we bought the lemon of the bunch? Either way, KitchenAids repair service/process is TERRIBLE. KitchenAid uses Flamingo Appliance Repair based out of Florida with a branch here in Atlanta. They have been to my house 8 times within 4 weeks and they have been incredibly rude and unhelpful. How many of you have that much time that you can take off from work? Yea, me too! The customer service representatives with KitchenAid and Flamingo have been polite, but all they can do is read to you the script that is written for them. Meanwhile, we have spent $3,000 on a refrigerator that doesnt cool below 50 degrees and the ice maker may or may not dispense ice from the door, which Flamingo cannot address if the one time it decides to work is when the technician is here.. We purchased a KitchenAid gas stove (Model KGRC608LSS0) in 2003. The first year we had Thanksgiving, the oven completely shut off in the middle of cooking a Turkey. The oven would not restart for 2 hours. We called KitchenAid and had a repair come out, the next day, who of course could not find any problems, $150.00 wasted. The next Holiday dinner, the same thing happened, again couldnt find a problem. The next time I had Thanksgiving, I decided to cook the Turkey early so that I could turn the oven off for at least an hour before cooking the rest of the meal, and that worked. This past Thanksgiving, I tried my method again but this time the oven would not go back on for 1.5 hours. I tried heating the rest of the meal using the convection and after 45 minutes it shut off again. 22 people waiting for dinner and cooking side dishes in the microwave, not the way I want to host the Holiday. Perhaps this is one way of getting out of cooking the Holiday dinner. We also had used our self cleaning and it ran for entire day, the control panel didnt blow but this happened before we experienced our problems with the oven shutting off, perhaps connected? All of my major kitchen appliances are KitchenAid. I will not make that mistake again!

I am sick to my stomach... Just redid my entire kitchen in KitchenAid products thinking they were a good investment. The built-in wall oven is the WORST. I have used it once, for one batch of cookies - 350 degrees, bake time - 10 minutes. The first sign of trouble was how loud the oven was when cooking, seriously annoying. I figured I could get used to that, thinking it was just new technology at work. Was I ever wrong. The fan (and it is loud) has continued for an hour... As I write this, it is still as loud as can be. And we are talking only 10 minutes of cook time at 350 degrees! I am so bummed I cant stand it. I have never written a review for anything in my life, but because I know that I am going to have absolutely no recourse on this (I can hear it now... But there isnt anything wrong with the oven), Id like to prevent someone else from making the same mistake.

Issue 1: Condensation inside the back wall of refrigerator and thus make the refrigerator more noisy. Noise level is higher than the normal, because the ice is surrounded by refrigerator fan, so when the fan runs it is louder. Issue 2 . Not making the ice. The over the stove KitchenAid microwave has been in daily use for 6 months. It usually works well, but there are random times when a message code appears rendering the micro unusable. The open/close door message will flash and it doesnt matter how many times you obey the command. The microwave will not allow a time to be entered or heat. After an hour or two the microwave will work just fine... Always after the meal is finished without those baked potatoes you allowed 12 min. cook time for.

Just have to add my .02 here too. I used to have KitchenAid everything in my kitchen. Our house came with KA appliances, except for the range, when it was built back in 1987. All the appliances lasted, without issue, until we had a remodel done in 2005. We got a new Dishwasher, Range, and Fridge. The fridge was a nearly 2000 dollars French door style fridge. The range was a slide-in gas/convection oven. It cost roughly $1800. The DW was about $800. The Dishwasher was a Bosch. The Fridge and Range were both KitchenAid. Of the three, only the Bosch is still going. Two years ago, the fridge compressor went out suddenly, and it would have cost 600 dollars to replace it. We opted to buy a new fridge for about $1600 - we went with a Samsung. Never did like the KitchenAid fridge. On the other hand, the KitchenAid range was actually a good piece of equipment. I liked it very much... That is, until I used the self-destruct feature, oops, I mean self-cleaning feature. Yes, we had never used the self-cleaning feature of the KA range until about a week ago. We usually cleaned it regularly by hand, as the messes were small. We decided to use the self-clean feature, for the first time, and guess what? It shut down in the middle of the cleaning. The door was locked, and the control panel was not responsive. I got online and found this was a very common occurrence for KA ranges, even ones that were nearly brand new, my range included, as we very rarely used the oven, we almost exclusively used it for the cooktop. So, thinking that this wasnt a wear-and-tear issue, and that the self-clean feature caused the failure, I thought Kitchenaid/Whirlpool would be more than willing to give me some assistance with this. Ha ha, silly me. After nearly an hour on hold, the first rep told me to reset the breaker to the range and wait for awhile to see if that fixed the problem. I reluctantly agreed, and, of course, it didnt fix anything. I called back and this time they told me they would have to set up a service call and it would cost me. Now, again, silly me thinking since the poor design/defect of the stove caused it to fail, I thought they would be gracious to give me a one-time call, or at least send a free part or something. However, no, they didnt care at all and basically told me to get lost and they wouldnt take responsibility for the defect, or stand behind their product. So, after two crummy experiences with KA, and over an hour dealing with customer NO service, I have decided to replace the range with a Bosch, yes, the same company that made my DW that is still going like a champ. I will never, ever, purchase a KA or Whirlpool product again. I hope anyone who reads this will decide to be thoughtful about your money you spend, and if do purchase KA/WP, dont expect any kind of customer service, or a company that stands behind their products.

We purchased a brand new home in November of 2012 and ever since day one of operating our KitchenAid oven Model # KEBS109BSS00, we have had this awful metal on metal rattling noise. After contacting KitchenAid warranty repair department, they have sent Three different companies out over 18 visits to repair the issue. We have been informed that there are only two moving parts to the oven and both parts have been replaced TWICE. Also, we have had new extra insulation kits and exterior panels replaced, tightened, loosened, and so on and so on... to no avail. The oven still makes the awful noise through all three operating cycles. Kitchen Aid has been horrible with helping us repair this oven. They claim that some of the visits will not count because the tech that came out for the repair did not log a claim attached with the serial number of the unit. So we basically wasted half a day and and still have a broken oven. I will NEVER buy a kitchen aid oven again, cheap product and terrible customer service. Even the technicians they send out are saying that there is nothing more that can be done and they need to replace the unit but to be prepared that Kitchen Aid will fight us on that but 18 visits at $144 a pop they have already spent more than the oven is worth.

I contacted KitchenAid customer support during January 2012. I had bought a KitchenAid Microwave KHHC2090SWH in February 2011. It had suddenly decided out of the blue to stop working. I had contacted a repair technician and they agreed to pay for his visit. It is now March 14, and after 4 visits, the technician has been unable to fix the problem. He has now removed it from my home and even though I have had to contend with the absence of a microwave for almost 2 months, left me nothing to use in the meantime and no promise that it will be fixed only the confirmation that the company will almost never replace a defective product.I am so sorry that I decided on a KitchenAid and I will certainly let everyone and sundry know about my problems with the KitchenAid Microwave. I am at a loss as to what to do next. It seems like I am just trying to fly against the wind.

The issue I am currently having is trying to get a new control panel for our built in refrigerator. The day after Christmas the refrigerator went out. The following Monday I called a local appliance repair business so we could get the refrigerator fixed. They showed up the following day and informed us it was the main control panel that was out and this part was not available. They suggested we either were going to have to have the control panel rebuilt or if that did not work the only solution was to buy another refrigerator. I found that hard to believe so I called KitchenAid and eventually got to the Built-In Department. I was told the part was getting ready to be available and would be ready for distribution on 1-7-16. Was also told until now this part had not been available due to the manufacturer being destroyed in a storm and it had taken them several years to redesign a part that actually worked. I also found that hard to believe. However, I now thought all issues were taken care of and excepted the wait. Well, yesterday I decided to call checking on things only to find the part did not go out as stated and there was still (0) showing in their availability. The parts distribution company that our repair shop orders their product from had not even placed an order because there was still 0 showing available. After several phone calls and talking to several different people my frustrations only grew. It appears that even though the folks in the built in department could see the inventory was available nobody was able to order the part because the part is still not showing up as available in their system. Finally, the part was made available for me to order, shipping at my expense, to be shipped to my repair Co. I also then found out that I would then be responsible for shipping the core back and that I would have NO warranty on a $350.00 part. If the part was ordered through my repair Co I have a warranty and no shipping expense. They were not even willing to ship next day or 2nd day mail. For a part this expensive and with as many issues it appears there have been with it, I decided I needed the warranty so Im back at the mercy of KitchenAid and the wholesale part supplier to get the part to my repair Co. I found the policies at KitchenAid and the procedure they go through to be very non-flexible and not consumer friendly. In addition, we put all KitchenAid products with the exception of our gas stove in our house. We have already replaced the built in Ice maker and the microwave. This will be the last KitchenAid/whirlpool appliance we ever purchase.

My wife and I built a new house and moved in 8/2003. We purchased all KitchenAid appliances. We had to replace the ice maker twice on our 2003 refrigerator. The 2003 range top stove control panel does not work properly. The 2003 microwave completely stopped working at the end of 2011. The front door cracked in 2008 since it hits a screw at the underside. Our 2006 professional, heavy duty mixer broke in July 2012, my wife uses it about 15-20 times a year. How pathetic. They should be ashamed of the quality of all their appliance products.

KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator model KFIS29PBMS01 - I had a new kitchen installed in my home September 2013. The contractor bought the appliances from his distributor but I picked out the brand and all of the models. Within one week of the installation of the refrigerator, end of September 2013 there was water and frost coming down from the inside of my refrigerator. A tech was sent and ordered upgrades for the ice maker. It took three months to get the parts. The problem get a little better but very little ice and very, very small. In March of 2014 some food started to thaw in freezer and we had to remove the food. The ice maker then stopped working. My refrigerator is now 18 months old and I no longer have warranty. I e-mailed KitchenAid. They have a record of the problem we had and the long wait. They did not answer the e-mail. I called the distributor where the appliances had come from and they told me I should have bought an extended warranty. I asked why would pay more money when they could not get it right when under warranty. I bought a new ice maker but still having problems. KitchenAid does not care about their customers. I had bought another entire kitchen from them 15 years and they were good. Their products are now nothing but junk and I bought their top of the line. I hope they go out of business.

I have owned this KitchenAid DishWasher mod KUDS301xwh8 for only 3 years and today I find out I need a new motor plus a motherboard. When I called into KitchenAid for the repair scheduling, after I gave them this model number, they immediately offered me a one year warranty deal for more than 350$ which would cover the service call and all costs plus another year on a warranty. I thought that was odd to offer that right out of the gate and right after the model number, SO now I know that this model is a lemon and they have replaced motors on it so they offer this coverage to prevent fights from consumers. So now I will file an official complaint and request a new dishwasher plus I am canceling the payment of the warranty on my credit card as this is fraud on their part. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND... I have owned many dishwashers in 50 years of homeownership and never had any of them as much as need a service call in over 14 years of owning them but I never owned a KitchenAid and this one cost me more money than any other brand I ever owned. Guess you dont get what you pay for.

A little less than three years, we bought a high-end KitchenAid stove at Sears in Sarnia. I cook and bake a lot. I like to use the convection oven as well. However, right from the start, the fan seemed to be kind of noisy. When, after a cleaning cycle, the door did not open, I was very upset. They came out to repair it, and the repairman suggested that I should not clean it on a long weekend. He fixed it and the very bend fan from the convection.Today, remembering the affair, I did all my baking first and did the self cleaning. Once again, the door did not open at the end of the cycle; the front panel is also not lit at all. Paying this much money for an appliance and have such a let down is intolerable. Why is there no recall of such non-functioning appliance? These stoves should be taken back. I need to call them to come out and fix it once again. I have never had such unreliable appliance in all my life and I am certainly not recommending KitchenAid to anyone.

They came over and told me I need new doors on the unit and new hinges. Total price for both excluding tax $1500.00. I thanked for the visit that cost me $90.00. And do trust me. This is an update to my post here on 11/24/2011. KitchenAid dishwasher KUDE70CVSS2, 1.5 years old, sanitized light was blinking at end of sanitize wash, i.e. water was not heated up high enough to sanitize the dishes. Finally, it was repaired today, 2/8/2012, almost 11 weeks since it broke. We had 8 service repair visits made by 4 technicians from 2 service repair companies. During this period, the printed circuit board was replaced twice. We were told our hot water supply was not hot enough by one technician who didnt come prepared with a thermometer. A different visit and technician with a thermometer measured it at 142 degrees, well above the 120 degrees the KitchenAid manual says is needed. We were told the problem was in our household wiring. That was a miscommunication between one service repair company and the extended warranty company. Then the entire washer unit with pump and diverter valve was replaced, today, the 8th visit, and the unit now sanitizes and works just fine. Now Ill tell you how to navigate through the bad technicians, miscommunications and so on that I learned after being frustrated when the second service call did nothing to fix the problem. Inside the kick panel of the KitchenAid dishwasher is a large folded paper enclosed in a waterproof pouch. It a technicians debug sheet that describes how to operate and analyze the results of a built-in self test. Yes, these dishwashers can perform a rather complete self test that concludes with a code indicating what the problem is. Read the sheet in your washer to understand the proper sequence of front panel button presses needed to begin the self test. But beware, the test in my washer can be run to either display the concluding results, or skip the display. You will need to run it in the display mode to read the results, duh. Duh, because the first technician kind of ran it in the other mode and never saw the result. None of the other technicians even ran the self test. It takes about 27 minutes to run, and you have to sit and watch the lights flash so as to catch the final conclusion. Huh, KitchenAid? The technicians would rather just replace stuff than wait 27 minutes to find out whats wrong. But I ran it, not just once, but many times, and I always got error codes 4-1 and 4-4. And the documentation says that one of the causes of a blinking sanitized light is error codes 4-1 or 4-4. Duh again, only on the 7th service call did the technician say lets see what 4-1 and 4-4 are and the answer was an issue with the diverter valve, so he ordered a new one, replaced it on the 8th visit and the washer runs just fine. So run that self-test, get the error codes, then insist the repair company fix the error reported by the self-test. With each technician, I point to the KitchenAid refrigerator I bought in 1987 that still runs well, and, each has chirped, dont buy another KitchenAid refrigerator. Im not buying another KA dishwasher either!

Kitchenaid Gas free standing range. I always thought Kitchenaid was a dependable brand. I believe this range cost us $1700. I liked that it had convection oven and that the grates on top covered the entire top so no matter what size pan or griddle you used it did not wobble. This range turned out to be the worst range I have ever owned! The repair man knew us by name including our dogs! The other terrible thing about it is we had to order this range and had to pay in advance of receiving it. Purchased at Westar in Tucson Arizona. The range did not come in for 5!!! Months.AND to make matters worse our warranty started from the day we ordered it! Kitchenaid policy! I went on facebook and wished I had done that before the purchase because there were literally hundreds and hundreds of complaints. When I suggested we all get together and start a class action law suit Kitchenaid blocked me from posting on their wall. I will NEVER buy a Kitchenaid again. My advice would be stay away from Kitchenaid. They are not what they used to be. You pay alot of money for nothing!I now research completely before I buy any appliances. I take my time, I ask around. Sometimes the less expensive brands are 100% better. It took so long to get this range that after my complaining weekly (because every week they said it would be in that week) they finally gave me a GE use in the meantime since I had NO range. The GE they loaned me was a $700 range but after finally getting the Kitchenaid I realized the GE ran circles around the KA.

I purchased this 36 built-in side by side in 6/06 with the thought that it would be a good refrigerator --I couldnt be more wrong!! At 3 years, we started having problems. So far repairs include a new circuit board, hinge repairs, evaporator, drier, compressor and fan motor, and an ugly repair kit to cover up the burned area that runs the full length - top to bottom - on the front panel between the freezer and refrigerator doors that happened because KitchenAid didnt put a big enough fan motor in. And here again, it is leaking Freon, so the entire refrigerator has to be gutted again to replace the evaporator, compressor, heat loop and? KitchenAid will cover the parts at an approx. cost of $800-$1000, this type of sealed system is covered for 12 years. The labor, however, is out of my pocket at $2,000.One of the repair techs told me these type of sealed systems RARELY go bad which is why KitchenAid backs them up for so long. Go figure!! And, did I mention the cost of food spoilage!! GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!! Oh, and I need to mention the KitchenAid convection oven that had to be replaced early on (under warranty) and the microwave oven that was replaced 3 times and after that I put up with door that didnt quite and still doesnt fit quite right. GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED IN KITCHENAID!!!! WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER -- even with the discount they are happily giving me to buy another $8,000 refrigerator!!

I just spent $165 for yet another service call to replace the latch on my KitchenAid range that was purchased in July 2006 from Builders Source in Albuquerque, NM. This makes a total of almost $500 spent on repairs to a range for which we paid $1,346. This was the third call and the second latch for the oven door. The technician noted that the door hinges, replaced in November 2011, need replacing also. The oven door would not shut; it is losing heat and it couldnt maintain temperature and could not extinguish the light. Then, it would not open. All of these are safety and performance issues. There is no response to emails and calls to KitchenAids customer service.” Builders Source offered a discount if I want to buy a new range, but I dont want to shop for major appliances every 5 years. I dont want KitchenAids unsafe, over-priced, and unreliable junk in my house either. In addition to the range, the handle fell off my KitchenAid microwave, the compressor failed on the refrigerator, and the latch, springs, and door failed on the dishwasher. There was a time when an appliance’s longevity and dependability relied on being well-made, and buyers weren’t saddled with purchasing extended warranties. Until retailers like Builders Source insist that manufacturers stand behind serviceable appliances, consumers will be deluded and disappointed with shoddy merchandise and choosing between which brands will provide the least trouble and expense. I expect that KitchenAid will continue manufacturing unsafe, overrated products and unresponsive, uncaring service until their once-respected reputation and the retailers that push these shoddy products disappear.

We paid a lot for this appliance thinking we would get excellent service because of the KitchenAid reputation. This unit has been pulled out and apart and repaired more than I think is acceptable. When this unit gets replaced, I am thinking I will be going to another brand. It is aggravating to open this unit and find it has not drained, the dishes are not dry, or some other problem has become obvious. Perhaps a lot of people like this dishwasher, but I for one do not.

I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

Black smoke started pouring from the front of both ovens. Upon opening the smaller oven door, I saw flames up around the broil elements (I was NOT broiling at the time). My husband commented that it smelled like an electrical fire. We proceeded to cut off the power to the range. Smoke still poured out. We then heard the sound of gas burning off inside the oven (I was NOT using our gas stove top at the time). The stainless steel outside top and sides of the oven were burning hot to the touch. The control knobs were so hot they had become gummy/tacky to the touch. With no end in sight to the black smoke pouring out and the extreme heat OUTSIDE of the oven, we called the fire department. They cut the gas off to the house. The firemans hand-held temperature reading gun (Bullard Thermal Camera) measured over 250 degrees atop the range and along the back wall behind the range. Firemen said had we not been home, the back wall would have caught fire and this would have become a rescue call.KitchenAid sent a repair person to look at the oven. Deemed not safe enough to repair, the spark ignitor box inside was melted, wires crystallized, touch screen displays melted, wall plug charred and melted. After many lengthy calls and emailed pictures, we were given 2 options: get a replacement unit only by paying a participation fee of $2500 or get a prorated refunded due to age of unit (2 1/2 years old). We opted for the partial refund, as this unit is a FIRE HAZARD. To get a different brand, we still were out several thousand dollars, since we were not offered a full refund on a faultily designed range. Funny, because 8 WEEKS later when I finally had a different brand installed, the installer noticed my old unit had steam assist. He said he had replaced 3-4 other KitchenAid models that had burned up - all with steam assist. No one at KitchenAid could tell me anything. There has been no recall. BEWARE: This unit is poorly designed and is a fire hazard!

A $600 microwave should last more than 16 months. Ours did not. The LED start button is inoperative, making the unit worthless to us, because of a 1 year warranty. Find another manufacturer or purchase a longer warranty.

Purchased this model in 2016 and found that both upper and lower ovens are very poor at accurate temperature readings. Set for 400 but often register at 350. Lower oven very slow to come to temperature and inaccurate at sustaining set temperature. Despite using recommended cleaning products stovetop has stained noticeably. We are plant-based eaters thus stress on stovetop is minimal yet discolouration around elements is greater than expected.

We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store
We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store gave us a 5 yr warranty which we used on 5 different occasions. Long story shortened greatly... 2 yrs in we had water leaking on the floor which was warping the newly done wood! Ahh! We couldnt figure out what was going on b/c it both seemed to be running/leaking as well as there was water freezing up in the back of the freezer, until it created a frozen pool in the bottom and started to leak out the front. So I turned off the water supply (stinks to have this huge fancy fridge and NO ice or cold water!) But that didnt seem to stop the prob. First they said it required the duck bill to help w/ draining the water inside the fridge which wasnt covered under the warranty- even though KA had HUNDREDS of calls on this issue at that point in 2012. Then later we found that we were experiencing 2 separate problems. We needed a faulty valve which was covered and the repair company was nice and thorough in fixing the duck bill for free. The valve we were told might have been b/c the water was freezing inside the ice cube maker in the fridge (our ice is not indoor but in bottom freezer on left side). He showed me how the water was frozen inside the hard plastic tubing. NOTE that we DID defrost it and that sorry to say didnt help. ALSO BE AWARE that for us these issues seemed to coincide via coincidence or not.. We are unsure... But seemed to occur when either someone left the freezer opened for a prolonged time.. OR we went out of town for over a week and the freezer remained unopened. Unfortunately, we have never gotten an answer on that one.. BUT we just came back from a 1 month trip overseas and bam! The prob was back! Grrrr.. Anyway... So that repair of the duck bill and double valve seemed to work for 3 yrs.. b/c now we are in 2015 and experiencing very similar issues again. I called our old repair guys again and they told me that KA has changed out the duck bill for a new piece called the goose neck/P-trap drain tube. We just ran out of the warranty of course last month.. So to fix this would be $110 labor, $80 service fee + part $25. I found this website that shows how to put it in yourself. I dont even cut my own grass or nail something in the wall myself.. BUT this looks so easy I will do it myself! See link to Repair Clinic! Not sure it will show up here but google it! Has a video. Im going to give it a try. ** Also check out the threads on this forum **. ALSO lastly.. Sorry.. Wanted to let you know that one of the other calls we have had to make on this which was NOT at difficult to figure out but would have been pretty costly had we not had the warranty was the condenser went out 4 yr after we bought it 2014. The thing just started not to cool anymore! But the guys figured it out pretty quickly and got the new part in straight away. OHH And lastly... Really it is.. Haha. The stainless doors are the WORST of ALL of our stainless appliances to clean. and EVEN are getting tiny rust spots which is crazy as our fridge isnt anywhere near the sink/stove. Anyway... SO FOR CLEANING them.. I have tried several different products and the one that has by far done the best at cleaning and keeping spots away is Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish. I agree w/ ALL that has been said re: this machine.. Looks great.. But a total lemon! I will NEVER spend $2300 on a fridge again. I figured it was my once in a lifetime. Im grown up and get the kitchen I want & have it last a long time.. Im a teacher... So the cash is not flowing like the water on my floor. But I will never buy something like this again. Sadly too much $$, hassle, and time.
