My KitchenAid oven sucks! This is now the 3rd time I have a problem with the self-cleaning upgrade in my oven. The thermostat fails with the heat of self-cleaning. This time, however, the main keypad is fried. Almost $500 just for the part, not counting labor and install. Thanks, KitchenAid, for delivering a product that is only successful in earning you more money! I could not be any more disappointed in their complete lack of responsibility in standing behind a product for which they make so much money. Brand new two years ago, and I continue to have mounting expenses for an appliance that was touted as being wonderful.

I have a KitchenAid Model KHHC2090SSS-2 Architect series. I have an extensive experience with concerns regarding this model. I replaced it once under warranty because it was arcing, and finally died completely. A year later, the microwave began to start on its own. There is nothing like walking into your kitchen and finding out the your microwave started it, set the cook time for an hour, and had already been running for 6 minutes. I called KitchenAid, and they immediately sent me to their safety department. They offered to fix it free of charge. Well, 4 months after being repaired, it started doing this again. After investigating this more, I have learned that KitchenAid has this problem, and Consumer Reports did an extensive investigation. Other models are involved. Fires have occurred. Buyer beware - these microwaves are a huge safety hazard.

It does not clean well as it should no matter which brand or type (gel vs power vs pack) I use. Noisy. Long long cycle. I have had two kitchen aids before this and was happy. Then this house came with Maytag which did not do halfway good job cleaning. Then when it broke I chose KitchenAid. But this one seems noisier and even the cycle seems long - it may be average just seems long. The dishes do not come clean. Especially forks.

Paid 2800. Horrible refrigerator, after year I had three service calls, ice melting water all over the floor. Refrigerator warm not cooling down, ice build up in the freezer. Waiting three days for service. Horrible service. For a brand new refrigerator they keep ordering for parts. Are used to always buy Maytag. One mistake and I’m paying for it dearly.

I purchased 5 KitchenAid appliances 45 days ago during their big 25% off promotion. That was mistake one. I get a call yesterday 4 days before delivery telling me that my fridge is backordered until April. This is the biggest load of lies since Donald Trump on Twitter. Investigating deeper and talking with my sales agent at home depot it sounds like any counterdepth fridge with external ice water have been pulled and no longer is available for purchase. They have even pulled all these models from the KitchenAid website. Ridiculous. Calling customer service, the company line is that there is no recall and it is available for order. So I ask if its available why is it no longer on the website. Needless to say I need to cancel my entire KitchenAid purchase. Do not make the mistake of buying KitchenAid.

I remodeled the kitchen in 2007. Refrigerator, freezer, 2-drawer dishwasher and combo micro and oven all broke down in Nov. of 2012. I called service for all appliances to be fixed. Freezer was fixed w/ new motor (service man stated KitchenAid knew of the problem for many years w/ no recall). After 3 months and 2 servicemen from different companies, oven is still not fixed. The parts KitchenAid suggested to these servicemen did not work. KitchenAid again knew of a problem with both ovens and did not recall. After many months without any ovens, I called KitchenAid. I asked for suggestions. All I got from the customer service rep was silence .... and then a sorry. He told me that he could not help in anyway. I spent $3200 on these ovens that only worked for 5 years and I cannot get parts to fix them. I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance again.

I bought a KitchenAid refrigerator on 5/30/11. The divider between the 2 crisper drawers has broken 3 times. It is now out of warranty but even if I had purchased an extended warranty, I was told that its purely cosmetic and would not be covered. I am unable to use my crisper drawers, but was told it is strictly a cosmetic issue! In 2011, I replaced my microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher with KitchenAid products. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product again. I would have even been willing to pay the difference in price to replace the refrigerator as obviously, this one is defective. But I could not get past Your problem is merely a cosmetic one.

As 32 others here have described, my KHMS155LSS-4 KitchenAid microwave turns on in PAN mode randomly after only 1 year of use. I left the door open to prevent it from recurring, but it beeps insistently. I ended up unplugging it. I called KitchenAid and they said it’s a known issue and will dispatch a no cost repairman. Having read the list of complaints here, I think I will start shopping for its replacement anyway. It sounds like this was a very bad model for KitchenAid. We also had the dishwasher door spring break just like others had described.

Do not buy KitchenAID refrigerator KFIV29 model. My refrigerator stopped working in less than 2 years. I had an extended warranty and they basically kept on sending a service contractor to address the issue who kept on finding new issues as to why my refrigerator was not working. KitchenAid refused to take any responsibility in regards to the quality of the product or the extended warranty that they sold to me in the first place, and refused to help solve the problem. The extended warranty company refused to stop the payment to the contractor until they had a confirmation from me that the refrigerator was actually working and six weeks in I still do not have a refrigerator.

Bought the range in March of this year for my mom. The salesman said the KitchenAid was a good brand (upper middle market), it has good looks, and a large oven. What he failed to mention is that they typically last 3-4 weeks, and you shouldn’t use them for cooking or they may get damaged :(. Within days of use enamel started falling off in the oven cavity - very dangerous when it lands on food, a couple months after the plastic door trim started peeling off and lately the cooktop scratched. We are extremely careful with all our appliances, we still use our green Admiral stove from the 60s and it is mint condition - I don’t understand how the KitchenAid stove can be so poorly built. I thought I was getting better value but in hindsight I should have gotten the basic GE stove. In conclusion, I do not recommend the stove, unless it is for display only, you are better off getting one at Goodwill.

Operationally this is a nice-looking, relatively quiet, efficient machine with multiple modes of operation. Where it falls from grace is the isolation of the top/hidden electronics from the moisture of a functioning dishwasher. The replacement by the owner is not out of the question, but most users wont do this. The main control board can be replaced by unplugging a socket after the front of the machine is removed. One other drawback is the spring and cord mechanism that balances the weight of the door, it can break more than once in a 20-year operating lifetime. On the good side this unit is still working after 20 years whereas many others are broken and replaced. The motor, pump and dish/silver racks are all working and in good condition. The inside and outside stainless is fully functional and easily cleaned.

This dishwasher (model KUDC10FXSS) was installed in early 2012. The electronic control panel went out less than a year later. It took about two weeks to get it replaced. Luckily it was under warranty. One year later it does not work again! I have been washing dishes by hand for more than a month waiting for this part to come in! I can never get a clear answer as to when exactly the repairman will get it. Clearly many other people are having this issue? The part seems to be in high demand! It is ridiculous. (We had another dishwasher for 20 years before this one - never had a problem!) I am so disappointed in KitchenAid not to mention frustrated! I am disgusted with KitchenAid! We purchased a refrigerator and it delivered at the end of March, less than 90 days old. The refrigerator just stopped working and now they are telling us they have no one to service our refrigerator until July 9th. This is 3 weeks away. We are an hour and a half away from Denver. They need to send up someone from Denver or give us a working refrigerator. They want to call us back within 3-5 business days. This company has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Plus we have lost over $300.00 in food product which they take no responsibility for the loss.I am reporting them to Consumer Affairs. I encourage everyone not to purchase any KitchenAid product ever! They could care less about their customers. It needs to be made right! I will message this information to multiple websites and consumer groups. They keep saying information is not available to the customer when asked who is servicing us! They wont give out any phone numbers and say our service provider is on vacation until July 9th! They do not care about the customer!!! Do not ever purchase any KitchenAid product! This company is a farce!

Bought a great looking KitchenAid oven last year, but it has an unusual malfunction of blowing hot air from the oven into the kitchen for extended periods of time while the oven is on, and most annoyingly, after the oven is turned off. It heats up the kitchen so much it is uncomfortable to be in there while cooking anything in the oven.Just now, we turned off the oven more than an hour ago, and incredibly, the fan in the oven suddenly turned on and for about five minute spewed more hot air into our kitchen. This is a major malfunction. Previously contacted KitchenAid, but the phone operator could not help and thought this was normal. This cannot possibly be normal. It probably heats up the kitchen by 10 to 15 degrees, which is a killer. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE/OVEN.

We have been dedicated KitchenAid fans for two decades. Two years ago, we renovated our kitchen and purchased brand new KitchenAid Stainless Steel Appliances. Within ONE year, the side-by-side refrigerators ice maker motor died. Through the warranty, a new motor was installed. Recently, the Freezer component that generates Freon died. KitchenAid Extended warranty was incompetent and arguable. Finally, after THREE weeks, our freezer was repaired. However, our refrigerator stopped working. KA Extended Warranty offered a repair man in 9-12 days. I cancelled the KA Extended Warranty contract, hired my own appliance doctor, and within 5 hours it was fixed (the previous tech did not plug-in the valve to the refrigerator!). Poor product and even poorer service through the extended warranty.

I purchased a KitchenAid 42 Built-In refrigerator through Western Appliances (located at 1976, W San Carlos Street, San Jose, CA 95128). Within 1 year the right door would pop open after closing. I called Western Appliance first and they said they can’t do anything and I should call KitchenAid directly. I called kitchen-aid and they sent service technician, but it didnt fix the problem. In last 1 year they have sent service technicians almost 6 times and the problem still persists. After paying $8389.31 I am using a duct tape to keep the door closed, otherwise the food will go bad.I would like to get either my money back or product exchanged for a good one. Customer service said that they have sent my compliant to Pex department, but they didn’t give me any assurance on when it would be replaced. For last 1 year I am tired of calling them, getting a service scheduled and then staying home from work for the service technician to come home. They have changed hinges, they have even changed the door, but the door still pops open within seconds after closing. Here are more details on the fridge. We bought out KITCHENAID dishwasher for a few reasons, (1) we love our KITCHENAID small appliances and (2) they were recommended by the sales person in the store. Our experience with all of our KITCHENAID large appliances has been very disappointing. Quality for price is zero. We have repaired our dishwasher 8 times in 8 years. To the point where the repairman is like an old friend! Our other KitchenAid appliances have had multiple repairs as well. Suffice it to say we will never buy another KitchenAid large appliance or anything else made by Whirlpool. I would rather pay more. Especially when all in I have paid the equivalent of a top of the line dishwasher for a piece of rubbish!

Our KitchenAid built-in electric/convection oven started a fire and burnt a turkey to a crisp because I made the oh-so-unthinkable mistake of basting it during cooking. The repairman came out and said its normal for the broiler to come on during the cooking cycle if the oven temperature falls, but I cant see how any appliance manufacturer can think this is a good idea. Aside from the fact that this feature makes conventional roasting and other types of cooking impossible, more critically, it represents a serious design flaw that makes the oven a fire hazard. I have contacted the CEO of Whirlpool about this hazard but I do not expect any satisfaction given the response KitchenAid had when a cheap relay on our 13-month-old refrigerator failed causing the temperature to rise and all the food within to spoil. They simply told us that since the fridge was one month past the warranty, it wasnt their problem. How can they justify making appliances that have the potential to harm people?

KitchenAid 21.9 cu ft Refigerator - KBFS22EWMS. Two year old 22 ft french door fridge with bottom freezer is falling apart. Poor build quality, poor service. For over two months, the freezer portion has be experiencing a build up of ice. We defrosted (manually) and build up began again. Waited for over a month for service man to visit. Upon inspection, service noted two things: 1) thermal defrost coil was faulty and 2) fridge door seal needed to be replaced. Our fridge does not experience abnormal usage, two adults and two university students. Why does a door seal deteriorate after two years unless...... its poor quality or defective... but no warranty?? (I have a 20 year old back of fridge in the basement, no problems other than its almond in colour). Why does a coil not work other than its defective or poor quality..... No warranty??? (I have a 25 year old deep freeze that still works). In addition to the defective manufacture and poor quality of this fridge, neither KitchenAid / Whirlpool or the service company can identify the part (i.e part number) to order, replace and fix the fridge. How do you build a product and not know the parts that go into it? Poor or lack of quality control! In the last two years I purchased a fridge, dual fuel range and dishwasher; all were KitchenAid. All were billed as being the best Kitchenaid had. I have had major repairs now on all three appliances! I bought and paid extra for KitchenAid, their quality was in theory better than most, NOT in my experience. In our home KitchenAid stands for KitchenDisabled or Kitchen in need of first aid. Poor build quality and poorer product knowledge and documentation. Run do not walk away from Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. They have a 1 year warranty on parts; is this because they know that within 14 months you will need to be replaced and thereby earn extra revenue from their parts sale? Interesting strategy and sales plan, poor customer service and reputation. Built NOT to last.

The oven shuts off in the middle of cooking, then will turn itself back on, anywhere from 30-60 minutes later. My husband and I moved into our just built, brand new home with brand new appliances, in November 2006. We have a Kitchen Aid Gas Range Architect II series (model KGRS807SBL00). The first Christmas meal, in December 2006 was just shy of a disaster. The fan in the oven kept making a horrible sound, and then the oven shut off in the middle of convection cooking the prime rib roast. Luckily, the neighbors let us use their stove to finish the roast. Our entire family and guests didnt eat, until almost 9PM that night. The oven, of course, turned itself back on within an hour or so. A service call the next day showed nothing was wrong with the oven, and the issue couldnt be replicated. Next year, no noise from the fan, but during the Thanksgiving dinner, the oven shut off again unexpectedly, in the middle of a regular baking cycle, and of course, with no warning, turned itself back on 30 minutes later. This year, same thing happened, and again, a $30-$40 service call to a licensed Kitchen Aid technician shows nothing. The diagnosis cant be made, because the issue cant be replicated. The oven is barely 5 years old, and of course, is outside of the warranties, and frankly doesnt get much use. Its just me and my husband cooking. Were often not even home, and Ive used the self-cleaning cycle twice in the 5 years weve had it. This oven doesnt take a beating in terms of use, and certainly seems to be a faulty product. The only similarity to the occurrences when the oven shuts off appears to be that several burners are going while the oven has been on for a while. Its like the system overloads, which sounds like a computer or electrical sensor issue. Ive spoken with several customer service agents, and and ultimately, my calls to Kitchen Aid are a waste of time. They continue to recommend more service calls, which cost money every time, with no resolution and a stove Im stuck with, which wont work consistently. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool oven again, and will tell everyone who will listen what a crappy product they produce, and how they wont stand by them.

I tried to find the diagrams for KitchenAid Model KDTE204DSS1 to no avail, as they keep providing a different but supposedly similar model. The washer has a pump that whines and screams and now it will not pump. I did the usual, and cleaned the filters etc. Finally with a turkey baster, I emptied all of the water from washer. I then carefully removed the three prong brown wire from the pump. I twisted the pump and it came out in my hands. Once the pump is totally dissimilar to all pump on the dishwashers that Kitchen Aid lists. This does not make very happy. As I write this, should I find/buy a pump in the morning and put it in place and the machine again fails, I look at the circuit board and head to Sears to buy a Kenmore. Kitchen Aid needs to be in the garburator.

Frustrated and disappointed with KitchenAid regarding refrigerator model number KSC23C8EYY03 bought new in October 2014. Purchased refrigerator in October 2014 for residential use. In May 2016, owners observed ice accumulation behind the crisper drawers of the refrigerator. Items in fridge were not being cooled to appropriate temperature and freezer cold but not adequately freezing contents. Not under warranty at that time, owners called a local service company to review situation and a part was replaced.Owner then purchases a warranty, which was enacted in September 2016 when the same issue presented itself. Since then KitchenAid warranty has been called - February 2017, July 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and now April 26, 2018 - all for the same issue. The refrigerator is essentially inoperable during each service request every 2-5 months, resulting in food spoilage and loss of money. Owners are aware of the Lemon Law, however, there is no recognition on KitchenAid Warranty’s part on customer frustration regarding the investment of money into a product that has simply proven 6 times over that it does not work. It wasn’t until speaking with a KitchenAid Warranty supervisor today (April 2018) that owner was informed about the option of filing a food loss claim (again, after dealing with KitchenAid Warranty 5 times since September 2016). We again are having the refrigerator serviced, with the expectation that any repair would prove fruitless, a part will be replaced that won’t get us closer to a Lemon Law review, and resulting in a temporary fix that would need to again be serviced in 3 months time. The service repair technician who has serviced the unit all 6 times is equally frustrated that the solutions given to them by KitchenAid Warranty does not fully resolve the situation.

As I write this, my oven is being repaired for the fourth time, for the same problem. Since it is out of warranty, I will be paying for this. When you try to self-clean, it goes for an hour or two, then stops, giving an error code because the plastic, yes plastic, around the latch has melted, and the oven thinks the door is open. The repairman this time told me to never again try to self clean the oven. It will just keep happening! This oven is about 6 years old, but this has been happening since it was just over a year old. Also, even when it did clean in the beginning, the glass door does not actually get clean, particularly the space left between the two panes of glass, again yes, a space left open. I would suggest the designer of this oven be punished by having to use it. Clearly these should have been recalled or replaced by KitchenAid, as they are aware of the problem. But no such luck, at least not that I am aware of.

I went over to Lowe’s and asked if KitchenAid has changed the design/plastics used in the upper rack and the salesman told me Im the first person hes ever heard complain about this problem. Find that hard to believe when the repairmen tell me they carry the racks in their service trucks and its a huge problem.

I bought a double KitchenAid oven 6 years ago. After 5 years, the upper door remained slightly open. Called service. The service person came over and told me defect from company. It would be important to change hinges also on the bottom one. They would fail in the future. After about $300.00 all fixed. I did not buy extended warranty. After about 6 months, both doors opened. Hinges are now gone on both doors. Called company to complain. You have no extended warranty, figure it out. I called the other service company provided by KitchenAid in South Florida. They came over and told me I need new doors on the unit and new hinges. Total price for both excluding tax $1500.00. I thanked for the visit that cost me $90.00. And do trust me. I will never ever buy this product ever again, after the way they think they can get away ways to rip off the consumer.

Having purchased an entire kitchen of KitchenAid products, almost every one has broken - more than once. While the company repaired the dishwasher handle the first time it broke, they refused to fix the dishwasher door, which flops open dangerously. I paid over $100 to have it fixed. Now that the microwave, which comes on spontaneously, must be fixed, theyve agreed to that, but not the handle that broke off or the faux-stainlesss/plastic vent cover that ironically fell on the floor days after the call. Turns out they now admit that the dishwasher door is a chronic problem and theyll cover it, but in astonishingly rude tones, refused to fully fix or replace the microwave, even though I have paid for defects they now acknowledge. Instead, theyve invited me to buy a new vent cover at my own expense, investing additional money in their plainly substandard appliances. Or, I can buy a new KA microwave = at 15% off?! (To be clear, I would sooner set $649 on fire and use the flame to cook). Customer service is, at the corporate level, woefully rude and disinterested in customer satisfaction, seemingly having deaf and numb to their growing number of angry consumers. Amazingly, I visited a friend in L.A. who has the same appliances. And the same problems.

My control panel had to be replaced because the oven temp was off by sixty degrees. That was in November. However, it didnt repair everything because I can no longer turn the oven on. I have been told its the touch pad. The service company ordered the part and KitchenAid said it is backordered until at least the end of February. I have been without an oven since early December! I have a family and I am an avid baker. No oven for three months? In addition, all the apartments in our complex have this oven and one by one, the problems are the same. What can I do?

I waited many years to finally get my KitchenAid appliances. I purchased them at Sears and I even bought the Premium service agreement. For unknown reasons, my refrigerator doors began to rust (I have pictures and would be happy to send them). There is no apparent leak or reason for this rust. When I contacted my service agreement, of course, they told me doors arent covered. I was told the only thing I can do is buy new doors. I would gladly do that if the damage was the result of neglect on my part. The refrigerator was purchased 11-02-99. I realize it is 13 years old but my last refrigerator was 25 years old when I gave it away (still running perfect and no damage - Kenmore). Since I have not received satisfaction about repairs, I have decided to keep my refrigerator as is. I make it a point to show it to everyone that comes to my home and telling them about how KitchenAid stands behind their product lines. Rest assured I will never purchase another KitchenAid anything. As much as it is embarrassing to have this in my kitchen, I feel spreading the word is more important.

Apparently this model has two compressors and it is causing a lot of issues. Being without a refrigerator for three plus days to defrost and then get serviced (my warranty ran out after 1 year) is a tremendous pain. I purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for mothers day in 2013. My refrigerator worked for about a year, and since that time I have place 6 service calls. Yes, I bought the extended 5-year warranty for $300, but thats a joke too. My refrigerator has made loud humming sounds, the ice melted, and I lost all the contents of the freezer and refrigerator. The ice container has rust in it (company wont replace), and when I called for service like today, they say Oh we can get there in 2 weeks. After reading all the complaints on this site, KitchenAid must know that its customers are not happy. I will never buy KitchenAid again.I am surprised that in an industry where customer service is king (or should be), this company cares so little about its customers. I would be willing to entertain a class action lawsuit on this company for selling faulty products. I too have to take time off of work every time the repair man comes out. I think its time this company be held responsible for the products it sells. Is there a lawyer our there that can help the little guy who just wants a refrigerator that works?

In the past 8 year I have built 2 new homes on the upscale side of the housing market. In both situations I used higher appliances from KitchenAid. For the investment made, I am very dissatisfied with quality of the produce drawers. On both drawers, the chrome deco on the drawer handle has come loose dueto faulty adhesive and both drawers have cracked in the center of the drawer handles. This is something I would expect from a 300.00 refrigerator, not one over 2000 dollars @ builders cost. In addition, I had the ice maker replaced in 6 months due to a faulty board, which is something you as manufacturers are aware of, but failed to advise the consumer. We have replaced the ice maker board and now will address replacing both produce drawers. I must say that after less than one year of ownership and facing the fact that all the other series of appliances are also KitchenAid products, I am waiting for the next problem to occur. I come from a family of builders, both residential and commercial and intend to advise them to consider other upscale appliance manufacturers on future projects. If this letter never goes up the management ladder I am sure I will receive the same reply as my last e-mail, indicating that your Customer Service Department also needs repair. Being an owner of several national companies myself, I am very aware of the damage that can be done by not reacting to a problem, where consumers are involved. Thank you.

I bought this a KitchenAid dishwasher model number KUDS30IXSS7 maybe 3 years ago and it hasnt worked for half of that time. In the first six months of owning it the circuit board went out then it stopped working again right after the warranty ran out. Had a service man come out to fix it. A wire burn in half in the panel that lasted a few months and again the board has gone out. My service guy said wed be better off buying another dishwasher without the touch controls because the boards are always going out in them due to bad design. Thought KitchenAid was a great brand maybe for mixers but not dishwashers.

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

Email to Trail Appliance: I meant to email you earlier but weve been away. All appliances are in and look great. Were just wondering though if a support might be missing from the fridge. Ive attached a couple of pictures to show what I mean. The shelf above the two crisper drawers seems to be missing a middle support? Because as soon as you put any items on it, it really sags in the middle. You can see the glass shelf separating from its white plastic rim and then gap between two crisper drawers getting wider at the bottom. Are we missing a piece or is there anyway to fix this? It seems such an obvious flaw. Trails response: I have checked both units on the floor and neither have a little support... so sorry... It does seem odd that it does not though. My last email to Trail: So what are our options? I must say every time I open the fridge door - what I see (that sagging shelf) is unacceptable. I thought we were upgrading our 17 year old appliances - but it appears not, and Im sure that anyone else who has bought this fridge would be experiencing the same issue. So just wondering what my options are? Does KtichenAid stand behind the supposed quality (or lack thereof) of their products or are we on our own? And what about Trail Appliances? Where do they stand on selling crap (pardon the harsh language) like this? Suggestions? Waiting on response to this last email - but would NOT recommend buying this fridge for this reason.

On November 17, 2011, I used my self-clean function of my KitchenAid gas range (model # KGRS807SSS01) according to instructions in manual. The oven is only three years old. After one hour, the oven turned off. The door was locked and it was not due to a circuit breaker. I have had to have two service calls, purchase an electric roaster to cook the Thanksgiving turkey in and received no help from the KitchenAid call center because the authorized repair person stated that I needed part #9762774 for the touch control system. But was told that the part would not be covered under the five-year warranty because it is not the touch control system. Utterly frustrated after spending three hours on the phone, two service calls and over $400 to repair something that should work. Both repair persons stated that they advise never to use the self cleaning function of the KitchenAid range for just this reason.

In 2012, I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator, model KFCS22EVBL. Weve had nothing but problems with this product. First, the freezer leaked water onto my beautiful hardwood floor. The refrigerator was repaired but it ruined my hardwood floor. My research indicates that this is a known design defect. I wrote a complaint letter to a Whirlpool executive, who referred me to their quality assurance expert. What a joke! I was left extremely frustrated and angry. Neither Whirlpool nor its QA representative understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Second, the refrigerator is extremely noisy. We have an open floor plan and sometimes we have to speak over noise from the refrigerator to hear conversations. Lastly, cleaning the coils is a nightmare. The user instructions state There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. I dont have pets; however, due to dust buildup, I need to vacuum the coils at least 2-3 times a year. Additionally, dust tends to collect behind the front coil and there is no way for the average consumer to reach the area behind the coils. Yet, Whirlpools instruction states Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area on the condenser. Gee, I wish I can figure out how to get behind the front coil. (The attached image shows unreachable dust behind the coil). I suspect the refrigerator was purposely designed this way to shorten the lifetime of the refrigerator. Whirlpool has underestimated this consumer. I will no longer purchase another Whirlpool product, especially since Im also having problems with my KitchenAid double oven. Im now looking for another refrigerator.

I moved into a house with a KitchenAid 42 built-in side-by-side refrigerator. In Sept. 2013, the ice maker stopped working. A reputable repair company told me the cause was one circuit board. They determined the board was no longer made by KitchenAid, and if a third party board repair company couldnt fix it, the fridge couldnt be fixed. A complete fridge replacement would be about $7,000! The good news: I then uncovered an extended warranty bought by the prior owner. The fridge was purchased Jan 2009, and extended warranty ending Jan 2014. Mercifully, the warranty company transferred the warranty to me, with 3 months left before expiring. The prior owner bought the fridge and warranty from a high touch, full price appliance store. Turned out the people who do the warranty companys repair are the people at this appliance store who told the same story as the earlier repair company. They sent the offending board to a board repair company and meanwhile supplied a loaner fridge as without that circuit board not only did ice maker not work, the entire fridge didnt work. Board repair company returned it a few weeks later, saying it was unrepairable. Now the warranty company had to replace the refrigerator, so they are actually the big losers, not me.Everyone involved tells me its not unusual for a 4-year-old $7,000 refrigerator to fail and be unrepairable after 4.75 years, regardless of the brand, apparently because appliance manufacturers havent placed importance on reliability of electronics. The problem is not specific to KitchenAid. In selecting the replacement fridge, I discovered that parent company Whirlpool owns, among others, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Maytag and Amana. In the store, these brands are obviously the same fridge with minor differences in door and shelf decor. My conclusions after all this: 1) There should be some law requiring Whirlpool (and its several brands) to make it possible to buy parts, including electronics, for at least 10 years, for a $7,000 fridge. Today, Whirlpool stops making some board replacements 4.75 years after manufacturing the unit. Meantime, theres some opportunity here for entrepreneurs who can figure out how to acquire and stock working boards for whatever Whirlpool and its brands are manufacturing now. 2) $7,000 Built-ins are a particular ripoff: for about $2,000 one can buy an almost-as-large free standing counter-depth fridge. A few years from now, it would be lot less painful to lose $2,000 compared to spending $7,000 on a replacement. 3) Ive never bought extended warranties in the past, but an extended warranty saved me. For expensive kitchen appliances with significant electronics, I now buy extended warranties.4) Full-price full-service family-owned appliance stores (where they exist) offer more value than I ever appreciated. They held my hand through the whole process, I always had a working fridge, and they helped get an excellent settlement from the warranty company that they recommended when the fridge was purchased.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty, because as I write this I am waiting for the repairman to come out for the FOURTH time. This will be the third time that ice has built up along the inside of the back wall, and to fix it requires the unit to be shut off, drawers and shelves removed, and the ice to melt away so he can open up the back and do his thing. The ice build up impacts the fan, creating a loud noise, and inhibits the ability of the unit to make ice. The other service call was for a malfunctioning deli tray control. I bought a higher end KitchenAid Dishwasher model W10502124A. It is almost 2 years old. I started having trouble with it after I used it for about a year. I took out the racks and got a flashlight inside the tub. It was covered with mold, grease and food residue. I took the spinner and cover off and cleaned the filter. It was somewhat dirty, so I cleaned out everything. I disinfected everything and put it back together. About 3 months later, I took out the racks again. The inside was covered in filth, grease and mold. I took it apart again and took out the food chopper assembly.First of all the food chopper was jammed into the opening, so it would have been impossible for it to even turn the blades. When I disassembled the unit, it appeared (I am not a professional repair person) that one of the arms that hold the shaft in the plastic assembly was broken off. I put the unit back together as well as I could. At least the blade could turn now. Its been about 2 months and there is powder residue left in my top rack, the dishes are not getting clean and I have finally summoned a repairman. I did contact KitchenAid and their cheerful reply was you need to call a professional repairman.

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator, bottom freezer, Model No D-KBFS20EVMS approximately nine months ago. The compressor failed over a week ago and we are still waiting to have it repaired. Unfortunately, neither the retailer nor the KitchenAid Customer Service can find a replacement part and we have been unable to pin down when we will be able to have the appliance fixed. We have been told it may be another week but at this point we have no confidence in the company or the retailer. We have had to purchase a dorm refrigerator in order to keep several medications cold. KitchenAid refuses to replace the refrigerator but they did offer us a $100 gift card, good for another KitchenAid purchase. Two years ago, we brought 5 items from KitchenAid. Basically, we spent over $10,000.00 and we have nothing but breakdowns. I did not extend our warranty as this would cost us over $800 a year plus I thought. Why buy a warranty as I should be buying quality? Well I was WRONG. First, the Refrigerator had problems, but they were able to fix that (in the first year). Second, the range kept clicking. That took two service trips (first year). Third, cannot remember actually but we had a problem with the double oven. Fourth, the refrigerator was leaking and ruin by built in cupboard as we did not realize the problem straight away (second year), pay just over $200 and had to put one of those metal door plates over the bottom of the cupboard as it was soak so had to cut the bottom off.Fifth and last I hope, press self clean on oven and you guessed it, burnt out the oven. Cost of repair nearly $900. When I spoke to customer service, they told me basically, Tough luck. You should have brought the extended warranty. I am finding out that this is a problem with Whirlpool self clean ovens. But my argument is that this feature does not work so I should not be held responsible for this. Customer Service answer was YOU SHOULD have BROUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. So beware. If you are thinking that buying KitchenAid is Quality, THINK AGAIN. Will never buy or endorse KitchenAid again unless they step up to the plate and recognize their mistakes. Really, why buy quality if they can only support it with 1 year warranty (thats a red flag)? Because every major kitchen appliance from any brand gives you 1 year warranty. Thank you for reading this. Now you know the pitfalls.

My three-year-old twin-door freezer is giving me many headaches and nobody
My three-year-old twin-door freezer is giving me many headaches and nobody seems to know what is going on or how to fix it. The problem is that about every two weeks, it freezes a cold air passage between the freezer and the refrigerator, blocking it with solid ice, causing it to make a stronger noise than normal and finally going into over temperature alarm since the refrigerator keeps going up in temperature. We have had the visit of two factory-trained technicians to try to remedy this problem but to no avail. Any clues???

Range KESS907XSP02 - Turned on brand new $2,300 range, wow can you say loud? KitchenAid arranged for a service call, turns out that is how loud this model is and there is nothing they will do about it, no refund or exchanges allowed. I would say us as consumers were not informed of this obnoxious feature. We would not have special ordered this model if KitchenAid would have disclosed this flaw. We sit and cringe when cooking in our new kitchen. The loud sound is not our imagination, friends and family agree. I bet no one at KitchenAid has this model in their own home unless it was given to them for free. What a waste of money.

I always wanted to own a KitchenAid appliances Because they’re supposed to be on a higher brand. We finally renovated my dream kitchen and I bought all KitchenAid appliances except for dishwasher which I got a Fisher & Paykel 2 drawer one. Anyway after 8 mos since I bought the Counter depth refrigerator KRFC704FSS It started having a problem with the ice maker. Called in for a service and said they will replace it and in a week the cooling system started to have problems. I called again for service and the guy said it’s a thermostat and they have to order the parts. I called customer service to follow up on the order and they said that it needs to be replaced because they been having problems with the cooling and that the model 704 Is being pulled out and being discontinued so I need to find another model. There’s so much inconvenience on this considering it’s a KitchenAid brand name. I was heartbroken because I really love the fridge and the platinum interiors and its counter depth feature.

My wife and I bought a Kitchen made dishwasher model # KDS301XBL at Lowes store in Clermont, FL on August 23, 2011. It cost over $700.00. After about a year, we started to have problems with the control panel lights: going dim, not lighting up, etc., then the ceiling lights in our kitchen started to blink and the circuit breaker clicked off... We then called a repair service who replaced the control panel. Within 3 weeks, the panel started to leak water down the front of the new control panel unit. We called the service tech again and he said that the first tech should have replaced the vent and deflector because that is why the water was getting into the control panel causing it to short circuit. $130.00 spent on the first visit and $130.00 on the second visit all for a dishwasher that was not near 3 years old. This D/W has a control panel problem and should have been recalled. There is a class action Lawsuit in the USA and one in Canada also. Avoid this D/W at all costs ....

I thought this was going to be such a great stove. The oven should have come with 4 racks, not the 2 plus 1 “sliding rack”. The sliding will not slide with the weight of a 16# Turkey! I needed to clean my stove top as something boiled over, the paint came off!! And as I had a full replacement warranty I called Sears repair and was told it wasn’t covered. When did it become ok not to use baked enameled finishes on stoves?

I have had my dishwasher for 2.5 years and so far it has filled with water and I have to keep turning the garbage disposal to drain out the backed up water. Today, I turned the dishwasher on and the water filled inside and then started to drip from the door onto my kitchen floor. Not sure I would buy another KitchenAid. I have never had this problem with any other dishwasher before. Very disappointing.

So far we have spent over $1400.00 on repairs and again it is not cooling properly. I will never purchase a KitchenAid again. Very disappointed. I purchased a new Kitchenaid dishwasher from Lowes. It cost over $600 and had to be ordered. Two weeks later it was installed. It leaked all over our floor. We called Lowes and they sent the installer back out. He removed it and could find nothing wrong. He reinstalled the machine. It leaked again and he told us we would have to call Whirlpool factory warranty. I did and they sent a repair company. This company worked on the machine for over an hour and could not fix it. They told us to try it. We did and it leaked. I called them back and they came. They worked on the machine, again over an hour. He told us to try it again. We did and it leaked again. The repairman said he had Whirlpool training and he would present our issue to the instructor. The instructor told our repairman they would replace the machine. We have now been notified that they will not replace the machine and are sending a new tub to the repair shop to be replaced in the machine, even though they do not actually know what is wrong. I went to Lowes and spoke to the assistant manager and he said that we should have called them back and they would have replaced the machine, even though their installer told me to call the Whirlpool warranty people, not Lowes. And, Lowes told me that had I bought their extended warranty plan they would replace the machine. But why should I buy an extended warranty when the machine is brand new and has its own warranty. It has been five months now and we still have no dishwasher. Our floor is ruining from the leaked water and no one at Lowes or Whirlpool cares. Im just out $600+. My recommendation is: dont buy anything made by Whirlpool; no Kitchenaid, nothing. And buy nothing from Lowes unless you buy their added warranty.

Not only was it costly, the top tray does not stay in and you have to hold it while filling the bottom tray. Purchased Stainless Steel Kitchenaid (Whirlpool Corp) dishwasher 2015-07-29
Purchased Stainless Steel Kitchenaid (Whirlpool Corp) dishwasher 2015-07-29 at the Brick. Total cost including extended 5 yr Trans Global Warranty, delivery and taxes $1350.34. Starting in early 2020 the Dishwasher intermittently stopped dissolving soap which would fall to the bottom of the tub undissolved and stopped drying the dishes which we ignored until May 2020. Called Trans Global many times to solve this problem. They made 3 repairs that included 6 visits from their repair man because he comes with no repair parts and orders them after each visit. He made adjustments and even said he changed the control circuit board. Which did not solve the problem.I finally took a whole Saturday in Jan 2021 and figured out how to read the cryptic service sheet provided with the machine and got the control board to give me the error code readout (with help from Google). Error code 8-2 (8 LED flashes followed by 2 LED flashes) ....check wash pump! Sure enough the bushings that hold the water pump shaft are worn down causing the wash pump to draw high current and stall periodically. Simply put, bad material choice for the bushings by the designers! (Also the rubber tubing & seals and plastic parts of the dish racks are breaking down - also bad material choices). Or was this stainless steel dishwasher designed to fail at 5 years? So the cost in Canadian dollars from Whirlpool Corp. for the repair parts (as the unit is now out of extended warranty) is: 1. W10529163 Wash Pump - Motor $291.77 2. W10445975 Rubber Elbow and 2 Clamps 92.653. W10538166 Rubber Sealing Grommet 33.73Total cost (shipping not included) $418.15 You would think that if the designers made errors they would supply these parts at cost... maybe $75.00??? Basically the cost of repairing this machine is not a good investment as a new one can be purchased for $600. Right now we call this unit our $1350 towel rack! I recommend that people do not support Whirlpool Corp or any other brands associated with them with repeat purchases, I will not.I also wonder if Trans Global Warranty Corp. is complicit in not replacing the pump under warranty because they are well aware of the exorbitant cost of these parts. The sad thing is that this stainless dishwasher that should have lasted at least another 7 or 8 years will end up in the dump. Also I will need several trips to an appliance store to buy a new unit shipped all the way from Korea or Germany.

I purchased a model # KFIS29PBMS refrigerator thru Whirlpool VIP program in Nov 2014 for 2K (List price nearly 3K!). Since nearly the day we bought this POS the fridge makes a non-stop buzzing sound. This sound is so loud that we have to turn up our TV at night and on some nights close our bedroom door to drown out the buzzing. We have had 4 service calls and the repair people run their diagnostics and come back with NO ISSUE! I ask them about the sounds and they tell me that it is normal fan operation and that these high end products are more energy efficient and the fans run more. But, I ask them about the DAMN noise and they say that it is normal. I say BS!!! It may be normal for when the fan runs but it cant be normal for them to run all day and all night! Whirlpool keeps telling me that they are sorry that I dont like their resolution and my response is what damn resolution! They have done nothing! I live in FL and am from St. Joe, MI. I am going back to MI in mid-June and I am going to go into Kitchenaid offices and go into their product showroom and see if their products buzz all day long. If they do I will shut up and if they dont I am going to play my videos for them all day long and see what they say. My product is junk and obviously they do not care!

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Office
I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whirlpool and Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America regarding a part they no longer made for my 5 yr. old KitchenAid refrigerator. Because of problems I was having with the refrigerator lights and the ice maker not working a repairman told me I needed to replace the electronic control board but that KitchenAid no longer made the part. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told I had to send the control board to Illinois for repair which meant my refrigerator would not be operating for a week or more. After spending hours online I found that Sears Parts Direct had a replacement control Board for my KitchenAid model which I ordered. By some miracle I was able to get the lights working by making an adjustment on the door hinges and the ice maker suddenly started to work. I returned the control board I received from Sears. What is interesting to me is the fact that I never received any response to my letter to Whirlpool senior management. In the letter I asked them 3 questions:When and why did they make the decision to stop producing an integral component for a KitchenAid product causing major inconvenience and problems for consumers? Why does KitchenAid Parts online show this component as available when it is no longer made? Why would a Whirlpool control board be defective in a 5 year old product? (As stated above my control board was not the problem after all.) I also told them I had noted the number of KitchenAid product complaints on Consumeraffairs.com. The fact that I never received any kind of follow up shows Whirlpools total lack of integrity and concern for their customers. The JOKE is Whirlpools Vision and Mission statements..... Pride, passion and performance.... Creating Loyal Customers for Life. We are a company of people captivated with creating loyal customers. Unfortunately the joke is on their customers.

We built a new house in 2012 and bought all new KitchenAid appliances. I thought I was buying a great branded product. My natural behavior is to buy the best and when I went in to buy appliances for my new house, I was directed to KitchenAid. I started my experience by having several problems with our microwave and with my cooktop at one time, with the burners not working correctly. I also had the board on our dishwasher go out. However, my fridge is a nightmare. I started having a problem 4 months into my purchase. I bought a French door fridge, and my kids do not always pay attention to how the door closes so once in a while, it stays slightly cracked open. KitchenAid tells me I need to train my 2, 5 and 8 year old kids to check the fridge door. Do you think kids will remember this all the time? The problem is that the beeper does not let you know if someone left it open until after 5 minutes. The other problem is the sound on the beeper. I can hardly hear it, and there is no adjustment for higher volume there either.I can hardly blame kids or teach kids that are 2, 5 and 8 years old to shut a door and check it. I can tell you that I know I bought the most highly priced fridge on the market and a simple timer and beeper on the thing is not adjustable. I cant even get an upgrade to fix my problem. I offered to pay for the fix and nobody can help. I am asking for a louder beeper and a timer for an alarm, and nobody can help. More functionality is what the consumer is asking for. Supposedly, we buy the highest priced item on the market so that we would get more support, or at least an option to add this to your fridge? I would have expected this from cheaper models, but a KitchenAid, as far as what I have been told, is the best. Well, I got room for argument on that one. I went to Sears today and LG and Samsung have adjustable timers and adjustable sound within their appliances. My plan is to buy one and never own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid ever again because I absolutely cannot get a response from this leadership team within the Whirlpool organization. This is the 6th time since I have owned this fridge that this has happened. I figured, to replace all the food in my fridge, it would cost me $60-$100 each time. At this rate, it is too costly, with your cost of the product and the way it is engineered to afford your products from this point forward. I am not happy about the communication I have gotten from KitchenAid and Whirlpool to address my problem. I am not happy about supposedly purchasing the best brand on the market and not having more flexibility to adjust timers and beepers.I am not happy about having to replace my fridge in my new home 18 months after purchase. I am not happy because I will have to try and match stainless colors on the new Samsung or LG brand product I intend on buying. I am not happy about not being able to match all my appliances in my new home because KitchenAid can’t offer a product with adjustable timers and beepers. I am only one customer, and I never bad mouth anyone’s products. But if someone asks about my new KitchenAid products, I will let them know my experience with customer support and product experiences I had from the Whirlpool umbrella.

We purchased a new refrigerator 2 weeks ago. The first one that was delivered was defective and after sending out a repair crew that could not fix it, it was replaced with a second defective refrigerator. After spending hours on the phone, KitchenAid sent out a repair company that stated the entire compressor and coils needed to be replaced and compared it to a new car needing a brand new engine and suggested having KitchenAid deliver us a new refrigerator. We requested that KitchenAid either deliver a brand new working refrigerator or pick up the defective one and refund us our money so we can buy another refrigerator elsewhere. KitchenAid refused and told us they just cant help us even though the refrigerator never worked from day 1 and is under warranty for 30 days. We spent a lot of money for a brand new refrigerator and do not want a rebuilt model when we paid for a new one. We have been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, have spent numerous hours taking off from work waiting for delivery and repair people and KitchenAid is not willing to assist us or even offered us any kind of concessions to make this situation right. We purchased this fridge 7 years ago and it is built into our kitchen -- thus not easy to replace with an alternative. It stopped working one week before Christmas. An engineer said that it was the main circuit board that was faulty, We called KitchenAid (Whirlpool) and were told that it could not be repaired and they could not assist in replacing it. They claimed that the company who supplied these boards to them had been destroyed in the Japanese Tsunami and it was not possible to replace them. They actually said to us, You are on your own. How can any responsible manufacturer say such a thing!? Clearly they have no concept of who keeps them in business. They offered 25% off a new fridge (to replace would be $10,000) but would not put this in writing or tell us how we could access the discount. It was impossible to reason with them. In despair we turned to the internet and found 355 similar complaints (all negative) about the same fridge. However, we also found a guy in Florida who said he could repair the board for $120. We had nothing to lose so we sent it to him. He was brilliant, texted when it arrived, texted that he had tested and confirmed it was repairable, texted when he had repaired it, and then texted again to say it was on its way back. Brilliant, all within 24 hours! We fitted it on its return and hey presto, the fridge worked and has continued to do so. So why cant Whirlpool be as caring and offer this service, indeed even work with this gentleman? You can go onto eBay and find the board you need for sale at $1800 (supply & demand!) plus you may also find other similar people who offer to repair the board for around $120. We now have our fridge working again (and have not had to buy a new one and refit the kitchen). However we will NEVER buy a Whirlpool/KitchenAid product again. (They trade under more brand names than just these, so look carefully). Indeed having had a whole spate of other kitchen appliances also break down for various reasons, we have determined to NEVER buy a US-made brand again if we can avoid it. (Marvel are another one to avoid in our view). The only branded kitchen appliances we have that has never broken down is made by Miele and LG. Our kitchen engineer said that this Miele and other German brands (and Korean) are the models they are called out for least. On telling this tale to friends, 3 of them all said that they had the exact same problem with their Kitchen Aid refrigerator at about the same time. One had felt obliged to replace with the same product but 2 others said, Never again with KitchenAid, and purchased other manufacturers. It makes you wonder how any company can stay in business with this level of low quality products and poor customer service. I suppose if you have bought up most of the competition (at least in North America), you can feel that you control the market and thus dont need to care. Complacency is the beginning of most disasters!

I hate my noisy oven. Why is there no option to turn off that very very very annoying fan? I hate that whining sound so much, I just stopped baking altogether. Cant wait to replace my new KitchenAid range with a quieter brand. Its driving me crazy. Today I have to use it. It is NOT a pleasure.
