I brought a KitchenAid Dishwasher and a KitchenAid Refrigerator and both are THE WORST purchase I’ve ever made!! I’ve had problems within 30 days of my purchase. The dishwasher does not drain properly, parts were falling off, the top rack sprout continuously broke till the point of not being to use it anymore. My fridge kept building ice in the back of it, all the lights inside repeatedly die out, the ice maker makes ice intermittently. I could go on and on!! Please buyer beware! Buying KitchenAid is a complete waste of money!!

KitchenAid Refrigerator KSSC48QMS01 - Do not buy this refrigerator. We bought a home with a beautiful custom kitchen with this KitchenAid refrigerator and its just given us grief. Thank goodness we bought an insurance package to cover appliance repair. After three different repairmen and waiting weeks for parts to arrive, we found out most parts were not the right ones. Finally we got a Sr. tech guy to assess what was going on and we had to have the mother board sent out to be re-done. Well that seemed to do the trick, but 8 months later we are having issues again. Our insurance carrier would NOT insure the refrigerator. We ended up buying insurance from another carrier which should have told us something. We have rented a refrigerator while new parts are being ordered. We have lost several full freezer and refrigerator loads of food. No fun. I have no confidence with this unit ever being repaired. Its built into its own lacquer custom cabinet. Ugh. We now have another rental refrigerator sitting outside on our patio as we wait two weeks for parts. Would I buy a KitchenAid unit again. No Way.....there is no help out there to fix this mess.

My wife and I, the only folks in the house and in our 70s, remolded our kitchen with KitchenAid products. The refrigerator, now 5 years old, has had two ice makers replaced at $700 and the temperature panel for the refrigerator side hasnt had a light for 3 years. The ice maker chute mechanism simply fell apart one evening while we watched TV. The microwave door hinge fell off and the temperature probe in the oven stopped working. We had two sets of GE appliances in our 54 years and replaced them with new styles, not because they were broken. KitchenAid customer service told me I should expect to repair kitchen appliances and would send a repairman if I paid for it? What a ripoff!

KitchenAid Refrigerator installed on July 17, 2014. Had repairman out twice, still have same issues with frost free fridge freezing up even after gasket replacement. Second repairman also found separate issue with moisture around ice maker in fridge. Still having same issue after gasket replacement. Microwave/Convection Oven--Needs whole new circuit board and touch pad. Have been without use of microwave for two weeks and no time frame on when replacement parts will be in. Any one interested in a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid?

After six years, our microwave stopped working. A service repairman said he could fix it for $375, something to do with the panel door message. I figured I could go without the microwave for a while. Then after cleaning the oven, the glass shattered in the microwave. Heat must have risen and too hot. The oven still works, but the glass is still getting into the oven and on the floor. Of course, this model is discontinued. Im looking at GE as a replacement. Too bad as everything else in our kitchen is KitchenAid. I would not recommend anyone doing their kitchen with this company.

Model KFIS29PBMS French Door Bottom Mount bought July 2013. Have had repeated problems for 3 years. Serviceman comes almost on monthly call. Nearly ALL parts have been replaced. KitchenAid refuses to own up to a bad product although I have found numerous reports online of perpetual problems with this model. KitchenAid (Whirlpool) says its warranty for one year only -- thats about all this product is good for. Serviceman replaced parts 3 times in last 2 months. He was here yesterday and I will be calling for his return again ASAP. Refrigerator ices up, leaks, fails to keep food cool, etc. etc. etc.

In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year
In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year old KitchenAid. Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

Frustrated and disappointed with KitchenAid regarding refrigerator model number KSC23C8EYY03 bought new in October 2014. Purchased refrigerator in October 2014 for residential use. In May 2016, owners observed ice accumulation behind the crisper drawers of the refrigerator. Items in fridge were not being cooled to appropriate temperature and freezer cold but not adequately freezing contents. Not under warranty at that time, owners called a local service company to review situation and a part was replaced.Owner then purchases a warranty, which was enacted in September 2016 when the same issue presented itself. Since then KitchenAid warranty has been called - February 2017, July 2017, October 2017, February 2018 and now April 26, 2018 - all for the same issue. The refrigerator is essentially inoperable during each service request every 2-5 months, resulting in food spoilage and loss of money. Owners are aware of the Lemon Law, however, there is no recognition on KitchenAid Warranty’s part on customer frustration regarding the investment of money into a product that has simply proven 6 times over that it does not work. It wasn’t until speaking with a KitchenAid Warranty supervisor today (April 2018) that owner was informed about the option of filing a food loss claim (again, after dealing with KitchenAid Warranty 5 times since September 2016). We again are having the refrigerator serviced, with the expectation that any repair would prove fruitless, a part will be replaced that won’t get us closer to a Lemon Law review, and resulting in a temporary fix that would need to again be serviced in 3 months time. The service repair technician who has serviced the unit all 6 times is equally frustrated that the solutions given to them by KitchenAid Warranty does not fully resolve the situation.

YKERS306BSS - purchased within the last year. The oven randomly shuts off and will not work, nor will the oven panel. The only way to restart the oven is to pull the unit away from the wall, unplug it then plug it back in. Unfortunately this is not a viable solution for our 91 year old mother. We cannot find anything in the manual to help solve the problem. It would seem from the website that this is somewhat a common problem.

Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars
Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars. I purchased the full range of KitchenAid equipment (microwave, dishwasher KUDS02VR and gas range, architect II). Fortunately for us, we also purchased the extended warranty even though I thought with top end equipment we probably would not need it.The microwave has had multiple call outs over the 4 years of owning the piece: F2 errors, cooling fans that dont just turn on but partially start then stop then start for a second then stop and start for 10 minutes or so at a time. Its driving me nuts! The dishwasher has trouble cleaning anything. It leaves dishes dirty and the glasses have developed white film on them. Dishwasher has gotten clogged and according to the technician because we have the audacity to use it . We now use dishwasher magic every month.Range oven: First of all, the door lock keeps locking with an error when you use the oven above 400F and you cannot open the oven door until it has cooled down and you reboot the system by removing power, this you have to do multiple time before the door complies. We replaced locking mechanism, now it seems to work at last. Secondly, every time you use the clean oven function, the electronics go on the frizz. Now, we are without an oven again for a week while we get a technician to come again to look and hopefully fix the electronic issue.Through all this (including digital movies of the issues, pictures etc., sent to KitchenAid), the general response has been that all equipment works as designed. Works as designed! They should fire the designers and send the specs to some elementary school kids who could do a better job!I, for one, hate KitchenAid and will never buy another product from them again and will tell as many people as I can how lousy their products are.

The brand new, top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher I recently purchased leaked the second time I used it and ruined my hardwood floor. It has been a nightmare dealing with Sears, where it was purchased, their insurance company, and KitchenAid. I have been waiting six weeks so far for KitchenAid to respond to the insurance company. That is a long time to be without a dishwasher! KitchenAid customer service has been useless. All I can say is I will never purchase any otherKitchenAid or Whirlpool product. I guess customer satisfaction is no longer important. I wish I had purchased another Maytag!

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

I bought this model (Kitchen Aid Oven KERS 205TSSO) a couple years ago. When they delivered it, draw on bottom was all dented in & scratched. They left it and said to call customer service. We called Lowes a few times. They told me to call Kitchen Aid. I called them half a dozen times. Few of them couldnt speak English. Kept telling her the problem. Big Joke. I checked to make sure they received my warranty. No answer. Now my stove wont come on and the oven wont come on. When I put the knobs on, no red light. We pulled it out and made sure it was clean. Knobs fell on and cant get on. Now we are stuck. Glad I didnt the cheap one as this one is a piece of junk. Dont know what to do. I figured the mixer is awesome. Not the appliances. My husband is disabled now and I am stuck with nothing to cook on. So disgusted. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance again. They do nothing to help. I will make sure I tell everyone too. I am sorry I didnt hear about it before I bought this piece of junk.

Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher from Home Depot on their recommendation. The machine was absolutely quiet for 6 months. Then the troubles started, Noisy - can hear in next room, grating noise on occasion and loud clicking when starting. Sent repairman, replaced control unit, then replaced motor assembly, then came and said they tested and everything was ok. Turned on machine and it was whirring loudly and repairman said sounds normal. Called KitchenAid to complain as well as Home Depot. Depot said not their problem but connected us to KitchenAid as they didnt answer the two calls I made and left messages. I wont bore you with any more details except to tell you to stay away from this brand and the parent company Whirlpool. Horrible customer service and worse product. Their people are rude and simply dont care. I had to give them a one star even though they deserve minus two, also beware of Home Depot. They couldve pressured KitchenAid but didnt. We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home in late 2011. Two years ago I had to replace the refrigerator after losing the compressor. It was going to be almost $900 to replace the compressor or $1300 to buy a new refrigerator, so we bought a new fridge, but NOT a KitchenAid. Also in 2017 two of the five burner knobs seized up and could not be turned on. Another service visit and about $500 later these were fixed. Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. I’m seriously thinking about replacing it with an electric range. It takes forever for the oven to preheat and also takes forever for water to start boiling. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID PRODUCT!! They used to be great but nothing but problems now.

As a retired chef I have preference for gas cooktop but electric oven. I built a new home with floorplan that did not offer separate cooktop and wall oven so I was very pleased when I found a Kitchenaid dual fuel product offering gas cooktop and electric oven combination. I had past experience with KitchenAid and thought I was purchasing a quality product.Although the cooktop and oven function well, the so-called AquaLift self-cleaning feature is useless! I do not let my oven become heavily soiled but found my first use of this feature did nothing to clean the oven. Even worse, instructions indicate even if I was willing to use an oven cleaning product and elbow grease I am warned this will damage the oven surface. It appears there are currently class action suits on this topic. Wish I had known this before purchasing this expensive product.

This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side
This is quick, easy, and short. I purchased a new KitchenAid side by side in March of 2011. One month later, it stopped cooling. As a service tech, I had already tested and found that the start relay and overload were bad because the compressor was about to take a dump. I called for service which took about a week to arrange. When the service tech arrived, he replaced the relay and overload without testing the compressor. I asked him if that was common practice which I knew wasnt. He replied that it was a common problem and it wasnt necessary to test the compressor and everything should be fine. Little did he know about my abilities. Knowing KitchenAids reputation, I was fully prepared on how to deal with the situation and didnt want or need to have to go through what so many others had to do. Also knowing that the compressor only had a limited life of maybe a week before it quit completely, I first purchased a used old refrigerator for $50.00 to get me by just in case. In about 8 days, the problem with the original fridge returned now even worse. Then, I went to the same store I bought the original KitchenAid. I purchased the same unit on my credit card for over $2,600. Foreseeing what was impending doom for the original fridge, I moved it out of site and had the new one delivered. The next day, I canceled the credit card transaction for the new fridge and called the store to advise them to come and get the fridge. What they didnt know is I exchanged the old fridge with the new one and even switched the ID tags that have the serial number. The next day, the store came to get the fridge not knowing they got the old one broken back in exchange. Ironically, no one had a clue nor did they even check. So, I ended up with a working new refrigerator. And I didnt have to deal with poor service not only from the store, KitchenAid reps, or a service provider that doesnt have a clue on how to repair these products. In the end, I not only now have a good working and new refrigerator, but the old one I bought as a stand by for $50 was cleaned up and completely checked out, then sold for $150.00.

When it was delivered there was a dent on the right panel. We were desperate to have the appliance as our other refrigerator had stopped working and we had had several hundred dollars food loss. So, we were told that we would be able to have the door replaced within a reasonable time without a problem and an appointment was made to have a local repair and parts company evaluate the dent and order a replacement door panel. On October 3, 2014 the local repair and parts representative wrote up an order for a new right side door panel. It is now December 28, 2014 and the panel has yet to be replaced! I have contacted the local parts people and have called Whirlpool directly without success. There seems to be no definitive date of replacement available. The KitchenAid refrigerator we recently installed (1 week ago on 08/06/2020) model KBFN502ESS02 - a built-in model (at about $9,000.) does not hold -5 degrees F in the freezer. Some of the foods we use like that temperature. The documentation about the model in the User Manual says the set point for the freezer is -5 degrees F to 3 degrees F. We set -5 F into the system. We today 8/12/2020 had a service tech (factory authorized) check the freezer and he found that the average temp in the freezer from the diagnostic panel showed 0 degrees F over the last 10 hours. The factory rep he talked to said that was within specs. There are no specs in any document other than the set point can be as stated above. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID. My wife was having issues getting the upper rack on the Kitchenaid Model KD
My wife was having issues getting the upper rack on the Kitchenaid Model KDFE304SS0 dishwasher back into place. Problem was traced to the right hand upper rack trucks bearing retainer failing, releasing multiple bits of plastic and several small stainless bearings into the interior of the dishwasher. Closer inspection indicates that the manufacturer chose to use a nylon (PA6?) carrier which is degraded by moisture and heat eventually causing the carrier to break down. Why they chose that material when so much of the other components are POM which would have held up is beyond me. This will be a problem for others for sure if they use the heated dry. An additional worry is that not all bearings could not be recovered so there may be additional issues due to small metal bits traveling through the rest of the system. The unit was purchased from Sears July 17, 2015 so entirely too soon for such a failure. Clearly a poor choice in materials.

After cooling down for one hour, the door opened and we removed the black pork roast. The oven is still in the broiler mode on high and will not shut off.

Each time I bake, I notice the bottom layer of the food is not baking, even after an hour in the oven. If I attempt pizza, the top is cooked. However, the dough underneath is raw pans. I am very frustrated. I bake daily and am wasting a lot of food. We have tried everything theyve told us to do, but yet still the top layer is being dried out and the bottom remains raw. Does anyone else have the same problem or had it resolved?

This has been a nightmare since we purchased, has stopped working several times and after service it continues to have issues, no ice making, fan freezing up, temperature in refrigerator up to 45 degrees. They have sent two repair companies and replaced all parts. The first company has declined to accept the insurance company work to repair again. They stated it was a lemon. Now they are sending another repair company to change the computer systems. That was a month ago and the parts are not in. This should become a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid, its suppliers and the employees of the claims department at Kitchen Aid with there false statements. Recall the product. It is defective.

I purchased a new KitchenAid model KUDL15FXSS5 for a house I moved into in January of this year. It was professionally installed and seemed to be operating properly when I ran it with normal load of dishes. The dishes did not come clean. There was food still on the plates and silverware. Soap was still draining from the detergent tray. I was perplexed. To give some background, I had been living across the street from my new location for 2 years in a house with the same water supply (main), using a 10-year-old dishwasher, using the same Cascade liquid detergent (recommended brand), getting great results. The only new variable is the dishwasher. I tried again using the ProWash cycle, same results.I added the recommended rinse aid, same results. I took out the dishes and washed them by hand. I then tried the dishwasher again with another load of dishes, still not clean. I ran the sink water until it was hot then tried again, still no improvement. I went online to the KitchenAid site and submitted a detailed problem report but never received a response. I finally called KitchenAid, went through all the call center questions and set up a service call. The technician spent about 30 minutes running through diagnostics only to tell me that everything checked out. He suggested the problem could be hard water or my detergent. When explained that Ive been living in the neighborhood for two years, his comment was, Well, they dont make them like they used to.I asked about the heater since it seemed to me that the water never got very hot. He indicated that energy star compliance has reduced the heater output to the point that it may impact cleaning performance. Long story short, Ive used KitchenAid products for 40 years. They were a good brand. Current product performance is not acceptable. The company does not seem to care. I guess Ill go to Goodwill and try to find a good used one.

Since Whirlpool stock is way up in price, might be a good time to sell...or short the stock...After owning Maytag for 4 years and having a manufacturers defect they made me an offer I could not refuse and I bought a new top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher on 6/2013. I am real happy with the performance. Its quiet... cleans great so far. The bad news is that a thousand dollar dishwasher should not have such a poorly designed upper basket. The wheels just broke and several expensive pieces of glassware fell out and broke. Ask me if I am angry...LOL. After reading the many complaints on the design and quality of the parts used and that most have experienced the same problem I urge everyone to call Whirlpool corp. at Corporate Office Headquarters HQ: Address: 2000 N. M-63, Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022-2692 USA, Corporate Phone Number: 1-269-923-5000, and ask for the Office of the President and complain. The cost of repair with service is over a 150.00 but if youre handy you can fix it better than new for under $2.00.

This is not covered by the warranty. They did send me some paint to cover the spot up. Now four years later, the original spot has reappeared and I have 3 more RUST spots. Bought this range 3 1/2 years ago and it worked fine until last Friday when it exploded in my face, burning my forearm. Shards of the glass top hit me in the face drawing blood. Fortunately, nothing in the kitchen caught fire and I didnt lose an eye. After two phone calls and more than an hour on the phone with two KitchenAid representatives, they declined to have a repair person come out to evaluate the damage and make a determination of whether it should be replaced or not. After I called around to find someone who could replace the product at our own expense, we found out that KitchenAid does not pay service people for warranty work so nobody in our area would come out to see it unless we paid them ourselves--which we are now going to do.From close examination of the damage, our best guess is there was an internal gas leak within the unit that ignited by the burners ignition spark as I began to prepare a meal, causing an explosion that burned my arm and shattered the glass top, sending shards of glass more than 30 feet. Please keep your family safe! Do not purchase this dangerous product. And, consider avoiding all KitchenAid products if you want them to deal fairly with you. We will take our business elsewhere.

We purchased a brand new refrigerator in May. By June, it was not keeping things as cold as it should and the frozen foods started melting. We contacted KitchenAid, which sent out a person from A&E Appliance who stated that it was not fixable and reported this to KitchenAid. We were then told that we had to have someone come for a second opinion, which we have never heard of with a brand new appliance. The second opinion said that it needs a compressor. We were then told that this persons assessment is still not enough and that a supervisor now needs to look at the fridge. By this time, we have lost hundreds of dollars in frozen foods and are unable to purchase food for the week, causing us to go to the store each day to buy what normally could be kept frozen. Months later, we still have no working brand new fridge! We were told a part has to be ordered which takes another few weeks. When it arrived, my husband called and they arranged a time for the part to be installed. The person never showed even though my husband and I made sure that one of us was here all day. The appointment gets rescheduled and the person did not show again. When he was contacted, he stated that he was from the business that made the first assessment and refused to put the part in. We want a brand new fridge, which we paid for, in our house within the next week.

We purchased the KA model KFIS29BBMS02 in December 2013. We noticed it was rather noisy but we were told that refrigerators make some noise. We have already had technicians out 4 times. They have replaced the evaporator fan motor on July 25 for a flapping noise. That noise is still present. We have a high pitched whirring noise that happens a few times each day. We have found out the mostly constant humming noise is the compressor, as it is always running. We have been told at todays appointment that the compressor needs to be replaced since it is apparently leaking Freon and will hopefully keep working until the repairman can get the part - which is on back order because so many have needed to be replaced!!!! We have also had to replace the touch pad control panel as it popped out of the front of the fridge! After 9 months, we are still unsatisfied with the refrigerator and the KitchenAid brand. So disappointed.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased
Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased new KitchenAid Proline KUDE40SPX3 to match our Wolf/Sub-Zero equipment. After several months, we noticed our cabinetry adjacent to the dishwasher was starting to warp and peel paint. We initially believed that the cabinetry was defective. Then one evening, our little 3-year-old screamed in horror from the kitchen. She had a burn on her face and said the dishwasher did it. We then noticed the steam coming from the side vent of the unit. The louvers are positioned so that the steam under pressure is directed downward. However, since the vent is adjacent to the kitchen cabinetry, the steam not only hits the cabinetry but is directed in front of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers have the vent at the top of front door lip, which directs the steam up and away from the front of the dishwasher. I notified KitchenAid Customer Service. Their first response was that the unit was 1 month out of warranty and they referred me back to Pacific Sales where I purchased an extended warranty. Pacific Sales extended warranty department stated that the defect was a manufacturer defect and not an electrical or mechanical defect and directed me back to KitchenAid. KitchenAid then agreed to send a service rep out and would cover any parts and/or labor to repair the defect, including any venting kit. They also said that the manual has a disclosure about the side venting; however, I pointed out there is no such disclosure and no special instructions with regards to steam being emitted out the side/front and being a potential hazard to children and surrounding cabinetry. KitchenAids factory repair rep came and observed the defect and notated such back to KitchenAid. Then, KitcheAaid took the position that it was not responsible since it was no longer within the 12-month warranty period.

I told them I want a new refrigerator and was told I have to give them an opportunity to fix this. I bought a new refrigerator. I don’t want a refurbished one. Awful awful company. I loved my Kitchenaid krff507e, until I didnt. Spoiled milk and sour orange juice is a bad way to start your day. I called Customer Service, and even though the fridge was just a little over a year old, they refused repair service. After much time spent on Google, I found the resolution for the frost behind the Deli/Cheese drawer and why the fridge wasnt cooling to acceptable temperature. The Temperature Sensor was in the wrong place. An actual appliance repairman was kind enough to post that this was KNOWN to Kitchenaid, that there was actually a technical service bulletin FOR this issue. Now, given that I spent $2500 on a fridge that I could only use for a year, I was not about to spend another dime for service, and since kitchenaid was not offering to repair what, in my opinion, SHOULD have been recalled, I fixed it myself. Hopefully my fridge and I will have many great years together, no thanks to Kitchenaid.

Installed 2003. There is something defective about this VERY expensive refrigerator. It builds up ice on the back refrigerator wall rendering 2 bins useless since it freezes the fresh food. If I turn down the freezer temperature down, ice cream turns to mush, so that is not an option. I have contacted KitchenAid over this situation years ago and all they do is send out a contracted appliance company to troubleshoot. You are responsible for paying for the troubleshoot and since I am not on warranty, I must pay for repairs. After the appliance company charges exorbitant fees, they say it is a bad baffle, and a new one is installed. I have done this 2x now, and the problem is still there. I am deeply disappointed with KitchenAid, an appliance manufacturer whom I thought built high quality, reliable products and who stood behind their products. I have a model KSSSC48QMS03 refrigerator that constantly runs with 1 second pauses and pinging noise. Technician diagnosed as faulty Gemini board 2307028 (W10219463). I cannot believe that Kitchen Aid does not provide repair part 2307028 (W10219463)! My home is only 8 years old and a showcase of high-end KitchenAid built-in stainless steel appliances; 48 wide refrigerator, microwave, warming drawer, double drawer dishwasher and gas stove with steamer. This Gemini Electronic Control is for the refrigerator (and, according to the service technician, in the stove as well). There are all kinds of complaints on the internet about KA refrigerators running continuously with a sonar-like pinging noise diagnosed as this faulty board. It is unbelievable that I have a $9K refrigerator for which KA will not provide a replacement part. According to the KA recommended service company, the only solution is to send the board off to a refurbisher. I dont like to buy parts from someone that is not supported by the manufacturer. Not that they may not do a good job, but that its not a new part, factory tested with manufacturer warranty. If this is what I can expect from KA, then as these appliances need to be replaced, I will change to a manufacturer who supports their products. Unbelievable, KitchenAid (Whirlpool)! This is probably a $50 part to manufacture that they could sell easily for $300. How can they anger so many customers? One comment said that KA told them this was due to the Tsunami in Japan that wiped out the plant. We had a plant affected as well at my company and its not hard to take the design to another manufacturing location.

I want compensation for my problem with dishwasher. The inconvenience and frustration of having an appliance that I can not trust. KitchenAids answer is to buy an extended warranty. How is that going to help when I never know if the dishwasher will work from day to day? They have replaced two door switches under warranty and I am out of warranty and I have the problem again. Am I to live with this every year two or more repairs for the same problem? My repairman is ordering another door switch. His opinion is they have a problem with it and it will be an on going problem. They need to redesign the door switch and give us all some relief. Not make us pay for extended warranties. That doesnt make sense. Why should consumers purchase high end appliances and pay to keep them running? Does the extended warranty cover all the days I have no dishwasher when I am afraid to have a dinner party because it could fail again and cause me more inconvenience?

Our new refrigerator like others never made it below 50 degrees in the freezer. That refrigerator was replaced after one week (thankfully) but the new refrigerator has never made more than 12 ice cubes! We called and they replaced the icemaker. Now after one week, since that icemaker also doesnt work, we have called again and scheduled another repair service call. At that time, the operator told us to turn down the temp of the freezer (below the recommended temp) so that it will freeze faster. We will see or we will replace this refrigerator with a different brand. It makes me wonder about the brand new KitchenAid dishwasher and oven we purchased at the same time.

Re: KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8, serial # F22604005. In September 2012 my wife and I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (referenced above) that can only be described as a lemon. Here are the reasons: Within a month of purchase, the drain pump needed to be replaced. Less than a year later, the touchpad and left-side top-rack support had to be replaced (the touchpad was under warranty, but not the rack support or labor). Total charge: $193.78. Eight months later the top rack had come loose again. Total charge: $182.60. Just two months after that the machine sprung a bad leak -- the motor and pump assembly had to be replaced. Total bill: $399.00. Exactly one year later the top-rack roller needs replacing. The service technicians estimate: $275.00. In less than three years of ownership, our overall repair bill adds up to $1,050.38. Thats just $71.66 short of what we originally paid for the machine, installation and sales tax included! But we have decided not to make that final repair. This machine is clearly a losing proposition. Instead, well save our money toward buying a new machine of another brand.

The plastic clips how did replace six times and still continue to break. The spraying arms on the top and bottom continually failed to work. We paid $1200--it is dishwasher that doesnt work. Will never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

I own 4 KitchenAid appliances, all 7 years old and all have needed repair. The microwave door spring broke, as well as the dishwasher door spring after the warranty. The refrigerator needed the entire electronic board and fan replacement, of course after the warranty. Lastly, the oven. But it was repaired while under warranty. We are 2 adults, no children and live in this home 6 months a year. I asked KitchenAid if there was a recall. The answer was no! So, I am not very happy about KitchenAid appliances and will not recommend or ever purchase Whirlpool products again. Not happy to say the least.

I had a similar experience with the interior. I ordered from a major online retailer (delivery was quick and professional). However, while I ordered installation, the delivery team informed me they could not install a wall oven. So, I had to look around for someone to install, and then wait until they could come out. This took about a month. While I inspected the unit upon delivery, and all looked great, I made the mistake of keeping the oven racks in. After installation, I pulled out the cardboard strips that kept the racks from damaging the interior during shipping, to discover one was covering a quarter-sized chip. Brand new, never used oven. KitchenAid just said sorry, its beyond the 30 day warranty, and it is not covered by the 1 year warranty as they consider it cosmetic. I turned it on for the first time today, and it started smoking horribly (yes, I have removed everything from the interior, including the yellow plastic feet from the bottom rack). I also ordered the glass downdraft KECD807XBL01 cooktop (both items replaced 30 year old JennAirs) directly from Whirlpool and the blower does not even come on at all. But, at least that is within 30 days, so they are sending someone to repair it next week. Well see, but I doubt it will sway my view that I am done with KitchenAid.

I have tried to be patient, but a week after an oven fire, that had it happened when we were gone, would have started a kitchen/house fire. As it is I had to call the fire department because I could not turn off the oven. A malfunction allowed the igniter to heat and by the time I woke up (4 am), the house was filled with acrid smoke smell. I went out and thought I had finally canceled the igniter (the cancel button seemed to turn things off after several attempts). Then my husband woke up and wondered what was going on and why, after 1/2 hour the smell was still very strong. Come to find out when I went back in that the igniter was still on and the cover plate over the heating element was bright red with flames shooting out of the sides (of the plate). It was self-contained in the oven, but so hot that when the fire fighters came, they couldnt touch it. They had to turn off the gas and unplug the cord.As I said, its been a week and there has been no call back after the initial phone call to send out a technician (The technician was great and found where there was a short on the board). What is most sobering to me is that my husband is disabled. Had the oven fire started on a day when I was gone volunteering, he could have been trapped by a house fire. I explained this and still no response. I would highly recommend not buying anything from KitchenAid/Whirlpool until they have a better service record.

KitchenAid freestanding induction range model KIRS608bss, purchased new, 4/12/13 3 months later the oven stopped working. I bake a lot so I knew when my baked products were taking 20 minutes longer than normal. I called for service and the first 2 times the tech literally said that all oven temperatures vary, this is to be expected! By the 3 call my oven started blinking message across the stovetop panel. They finally replace the computer system and told me I no longer had a warranty. At this point my range was 4 months old.. This same model although the oven is working the cleaning part is not. I have tried multiple time but the water does not get hot enough or steam long enough to clean the oven. To make matters worse, the front glass panel has so many grease stains in between the two glass panels that Im embarrassed to have people in my kitchen as it appears I have never cleaned the glass.. I was told the only way it can be cleaned is to remove the screws and bolts inside, clean the inside of the panels then replace. The technician also said its a waste of time as those streaks will come back the first time you use your oven and each time you remove the screws the tightness of the door panel loosens and heat will escape..

I love KitchenAid products, but my dishwasher, I dont like at all. It is one year old and works Great! The problem is that the bottom rack tines so-to-speak are not constructed so the plates stand UP. When I put the round-rimmed plates (which most plates are made that way today on the market) in the slots of the bottom rack, they SLANT over??? Because of this, I CANNOT fill the bottom rack with many dirty dishes, etc. The top rack is NOT WIDE enough for the larger coffee cups that are made. This is a problem also for filling...I run my dishwasher a lot because it is just not made to hold a lot of dinnerware (because of this). My old dishwasher (KitchenAid) in another town was great... The tines on the bottom rack slanted at the tip and the and the dishes stood up... I could really fill it up. I guess I just bought a cheaper grade of KitchenAid? Can I get a replacement for the bottom rack with tines that are bent or slanted at the top so my dishes stand up? I would NOT like to run my dishwasher ALL of the time because I cant put a lot of dishes, etc. in it. Water bill is higher because of this... :-(

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in 2007. It recently began having problems keeping the freezer temperature constant. A repair company came out and indicated that the problem was that we need a new main contact (part number W10219463) but KitchenAid (manufactured by Whirlpool) has discontinued the part. So, we are told we need a new refrigerator. Aside from the fact that it is environmentally irresponsible for refrigerators to have the shelf life of a disposable cell phone, thus resulting in landfills being filled with major appliances built to fail and be discarded rather than repaired, it is also outrageous for a company to discontinue parts in this way. I tried to contact the company using their website, but the system would not accept my message (the website seems to work as well as my refrigerator). I sat on hold on their corporate consumer line for 45 minutes but never got through to a person. I highly recommend that people avoid purchasing any refrigerator manufactured by Whirlpool (which manufactures KitchenAid, JennAir and Whirlpool refrigerators). It likely wont last and it wont be repairable.

KitchenAid KUDS30IXBL - Horrible product, barely worked right from day one. Never cycles through properly. I would recommend buying another brand than Whirlpool corporation products. Use the internet to find other brands. Whirlpool now owns/manufactures Kenmore, Maytag, Magic Chef, KitchenAid, among others. They are ruining these once great brand names. Read reviews, dont put up with it, find alternatives (LG, Samsung, GE all are superior quality durability) until they do something about their horrible quality and poor customer service. NEVER AGAIN, Whirlpool corp. I will not buy your products. For $630 I paid for this dishwasher I would expect 10 years service. Why make stainless steel inside and racking when all the rest of the components are so cheap, shoddy, they function for less than 6 months under normal to light use?

Purchased a higher end Kitchen Aid dishwasher model KUDE60FVSS3 in 2010. End of 2016 dishwasher was having issues with it not draining at the end of the cycle. Had a local repairman out twice. He replaced the drain pump and repositioned the drain line - didnt fix the issue. Contacted Whirlpool/KitchenAid customer service and set up an appointment with a factory authorized technician. Factory certified tech couldnt figure out what was wrong (test was not producing an error code). He suggested replacing the main board and drain valve sensor - ($400+). He couldnt guarantee that this would fix the problem since he couldnt get an error code. I understand that appliances break down, and I was prepared to have this one repaired, but when the fix is a trial and error throw money at it approach, this deems a product as disposable, since its cheaper to buy something new.Although the dishwasher is 6 years old, I estimate that it has run less than 1500 cycles (running it every 3-4 days over the 6 years). Also, in the 6 years Ive had to replace the cutlery baskets twice - cheap plastic garbage. I sent a complaint letter to Whirlpool executives and their response, although quick, was one basically one of Were not prepared to do much. KitchenAid use to have the reputation for quality and reliability. Now they have cheapened the design to where the higher end models are no different than a cheaper $300 disposable machine. There was nothing wrong with the quality of money I paid for this dishwasher, but certainly Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid quality and reliability leaves a lot to be desired. Will never buy another Whirlpool product, nor will I recommend.

In the meantime the floor and side wall of the kitchen which housed the fridge became damaged. I called the dealer and they tried to give some things to do which did not work. Eventually we got the dealer out and they came with a new valve and installed a P trap drain tube. Apparently Whirlpool have known of this problem and never let any of their consumers know.As we are on an Island it cost us a lot of money to get a repairman out to replace this piece. Just have to add my .02 here too. I used to have KitchenAid everything in my kitchen. Our house came with KA appliances, except for the range, when it was built back in 1987. All the appliances lasted, without issue, until we had a remodel done in 2005. We got a new Dishwasher, Range, and Fridge. The fridge was a nearly 2000 dollars French door style fridge. The range was a slide-in gas/convection oven. It cost roughly $1800. The DW was about $800. The Dishwasher was a Bosch. The Fridge and Range were both KitchenAid. Of the three, only the Bosch is still going. Two years ago, the fridge compressor went out suddenly, and it would have cost 600 dollars to replace it. We opted to buy a new fridge for about $1600 - we went with a Samsung. Never did like the KitchenAid fridge. On the other hand, the KitchenAid range was actually a good piece of equipment. I liked it very much... That is, until I used the self-destruct feature, oops, I mean self-cleaning feature. Yes, we had never used the self-cleaning feature of the KA range until about a week ago. We usually cleaned it regularly by hand, as the messes were small. We decided to use the self-clean feature, for the first time, and guess what? It shut down in the middle of the cleaning. The door was locked, and the control panel was not responsive. I got online and found this was a very common occurrence for KA ranges, even ones that were nearly brand new, my range included, as we very rarely used the oven, we almost exclusively used it for the cooktop. So, thinking that this wasnt a wear-and-tear issue, and that the self-clean feature caused the failure, I thought Kitchenaid/Whirlpool would be more than willing to give me some assistance with this. Ha ha, silly me. After nearly an hour on hold, the first rep told me to reset the breaker to the range and wait for awhile to see if that fixed the problem. I reluctantly agreed, and, of course, it didnt fix anything. I called back and this time they told me they would have to set up a service call and it would cost me. Now, again, silly me thinking since the poor design/defect of the stove caused it to fail, I thought they would be gracious to give me a one-time call, or at least send a free part or something. However, no, they didnt care at all and basically told me to get lost and they wouldnt take responsibility for the defect, or stand behind their product. So, after two crummy experiences with KA, and over an hour dealing with customer NO service, I have decided to replace the range with a Bosch, yes, the same company that made my DW that is still going like a champ. I will never, ever, purchase a KA or Whirlpool product again. I hope anyone who reads this will decide to be thoughtful about your money you spend, and if do purchase KA/WP, dont expect any kind of customer service, or a company that stands behind their products.

We spent a bunch of money on KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and double range) when we remodeled our kitchen and, if I could, I would like to go back in time a slap myself in the face for making this decision. KitchenAid appliances are GARBAGE. One side of our fridges french door pops opens then the other side closes. This is a nightmare when you have kids because it basically ensures that your fridge is open ALL OF THE TIME.The dishwasher doesnt work very well. We previously had a Bosche brand dishwasher and I SO wish we stayed brand loyal because that brand was terrific. The KitchenAid dishwasher doesnt completely clean our dishes, it does more of an 80% cleaning making us have to rewash some items after they been through the KitchenAid process. The nobs on the stovetop have broken twice now...I think you get the idea. We bought KA because we thought we were buying a premium brand and nothing could have been further from the truth. We will NEVER buy anything from this brand again and if my ship ever comes in I will happily throw this crap away and buy new appliances immediately.

I have the Kitchenaid electric double oven range model YKFED500ESS2. Its just my spouse and I here and we rarely use the oven at all, let alone the top oven. I wanted to use it one day, and noticed that all of the paint/enamel in the recessed corner of the rectangular indent at the bottom of the oven, was chipping off and cracks forming along the entire edge. The enamel chips were about 1/16 inch thick, and coming off in chunks and strips. My oven is about 16 months old, but I think this problem started before I noticed it. Of course, you can now assume that this oven is just off its warranty. I called Kitchenaid to complain and see if they would cover this DEFECT. They said nope... Its off warranty and just cosmetic. I ask you... If you bought a brand new car and the paint fell off it less than a year and a half later... Would you be happy? Needless to say, I am NOT happy and I will NEVER buy a Kitchenaid product of any kind again. They obviously make poor quality products and you are SOL when their stuff falls apart right after the warranty is over. I also have had issues with the fridge I bought at the same time... Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a 42 inch Kitchen Aid Refrigerator model kssc42qmS01 for about $5500. Seven years later, it required a rebuild of the circuit board for about $400. Last month the overtemp warning light was coming on for both the freezer and refrigerator. The authorized repair guy and Kitchen Aid said they could not fix the board due to the Tsunami in Japan. This excuse does not hold water since there are several after market repair shops that fix these boards daily. Just Google Kitchen Aid Control Board and you will find an entire market place of repair shops and used boards. (They all love Kitchen Aid!) If you read the detailed accounts of other pissed off homeowners who got stuck with a large piece of unserviceable junk in their kitchen read on from this website. My favorite is the guy who fixed his own control card for $6. Blaming a Tsunami is a convenient excuse to not fix or service these refrigerators because of underlying design flaws. Unfortunately I wasnt able to fix my board a second time despite the $500 in service calls and emergency repairs. The refrigerator still cant maintain its temperature. Kitchen Aid says theres nothing they can do except offer me a special price which is not better that a good Internet price from an online deep discounter. Keep in mind that this is a built in in a custom kitchen. (The Kitchen was featured in a local Milwaukee Magazine) I cant just rip this 42 inch built in out and put in a stand alone refrigerator because there would be a large gap in the 42 inch cavity not to mention a 3 inch projection even with a counter depth unit. And why would I buy another Kitchen Aid / GE built in when they walk away from their own product? My advise is to stay away from Kitchen Aid / GE built-ins.

KitchenAid fridge model #: KFIV29KPMS03, S/N K43117611. Delivered: 9-16-14. Price: $3,038.00, including $ 199.99 for five year warranty. Issue: Defective freezer seal causes frost ice accumulation, see photo, below. 1st warranty call to KitchenAid 10-22-14 recd appointment for 10-27-14. Repair tech made a few adjustments. 2nd warranty call 11-12-14 recd appointment on 11-14-14. Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why dont the display/floor models have it on them?Photo 11-14-14. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product?
