We bought a Trane heat pump about 6 years ago based on dealer recommendations and advertisements. Within the first 3 years every part except the cover was replaced under warranty. Since then we spent about $200 every quarter on repairs. The piece of crap is now 6 years old and the quarterly repairs just keep getting higher. I will never buy another Trane. Based on my experience it is a total piece of crap that cost more than any other product I have ever owned. We replaced a Goodman that I thought was expensive. When we replace this piece of crap Ill buy another Goodman and gladly pay the repair bills. My personal advice DO NOT BUY A TRANE!!!

After a few years I had to replace the condenser motor and it was not covered. It should not have went so early. You have to keep up with changing the filter and keeping the condensation pipe clean. You must do this on all AC units.

Im a HVAC Tech that has been installing and repairing equipment for 29 yrs. When buying a new HVAC unit, its like buying a car. You never know when youre going to get a lemon. If I have problems with repairing a Trane unit, the only option that I have is to call Trane Tech support. In 29 yrs, I have called them a handful of times and never have I talked to Tech support. I have left messages and in 1 case they have called back 2 days later when I wasnt in front of the system to check what they asked me to check. I install and repair units and Trane has made the list of units that I wont sell or recommend!!!!

I installed a Trane residential HVAC system in my home in 2012 and strongly encourage anyone looking to replace their home HVAC system to look anywhere else but at Trane. The system has broken down a number of times and recently the igniter switch has burned out three time in the past month. The installer cannot find the reason and now I am told that I have to replace a board with a cost in excess of $1,000. This is after replacing the igniter switch twice at a cost or $200 per switch. I called Trane and all they could tell me was that I am out of the warranty period. Clearly Trane does not stand behind their products. Pick another manufacturer and avoid Trane.

I was a Trane dealer in the new home market. Profit on these jobs are minimal and are eaten up by problems with equipment warranty. I didnt have many problems with the R-22, 13 seer equipment. When I moved to R410a, we had several expansion valve failures. I had to eat the cost of replacing the part, which was mileage, travel time and labor. When my builder pushed me to sell the 15 seer Tranes with 410a refrigerant, hell broke loose. These indoor coils are very thin and are highly susceptible to formicary corrosion from drywall, carpet and various new home products. Trane refused to acknowledge the problem and I replaced $28,000 worth of evaporator coils in 2012. I had to jump through hoops to prove the leaks existed in order to receive a warranty coil and was unable to get any assistance from Trane to recoup my expense to make things right with the customer. These coils would be a little over a year old typically, just out of labor warranty. Now most customers laughed at buying the extended labor warranty at installation and I could have charged for the labor to replace the coil. However, I dont have the mind of large corporations, so I would eat the cost to make it right by the customer. Trane quietly tried treating the coils to resolve the issue. Now they dont leak. Now they stink. When I walked from Trane, I was being called out a lot on coils that would run you out of the house with dirty sock syndrome. This is a problem that requires extensive work to remedy the problem. I had enough and walked away from Trane. Keep in mind this is in new modular homes. I cant say I had the same issues in older homes. Buy the extended warranty if you buy Trane. Labor costs of $900 to replace a coil or expansion valve are true when you think about everything that must be accomplished to accomplish the job. A variable speed motor or motor end change is several hundred dollars as well. One repair justifies a warranty and the annual service check cost. Remember that the guy fixing your unit isnt the guy who drove to Mexico and built it. It costs a lot of money to drive that mobile shop up and down the road to your house. The heat pump in your backyard works harder than anything you own. Take care of it. Your elected government/party makes no difference, has dictated units to meet high efficiency standards. The units are more sophisticated than ever and costs are going up a lot faster than your pay raise. Be careful of the HVAC company you call to service your unit. Parts and equipment sales are the goal of a good number of companies - large or small. If you price shop for cheap, then you are cheap and get what you deserve. Now is the time to ask your co-workers and neighbors who they recommend, not when you are broken down, looking online for someone you know nothing about. If you find a company that treats you well, shout it from the rooftop. You may save a neighbor some anguish.

I enjoy my two variable speed Trane units. They are quiet and very efficient. After replacing old (23 years) units (also by Trane), I noticed that the electric bill dropped by $50-60 / month in summer time and $20-30 in wintertime. I live in Arizona and the electric bill in summer was $400+. Now it is less than $350. But the best feature is that when the AC unit starts there is no "boom" noise, when the unit starts. What you can hear is just a soft whisper when cool air starts breezing in. I installed one, and 2 years later another one - both Trane. I have two floors, each floor is regulated by one unit. One unit is already 5 years old, another is 2, I signed up for a maintenance service plan, so far no problems at all. Trane seems to be an expensive brand, but I spoke with installers and they say that it is worth the money. I would recommend it - at least to consider - when replacing a unit for a new one.

We need a Lemon Law for Trane equipment! We built our new home in 2005 and installed two Trane heat pump systems. We have had repeated equipment failures and are about to replace our 4th indoor coil! I work for the major electric utility in Northwest Florida. We work closely with all the local heating and cooling dealers in our area. Without some sort of proper resolution to this continual problem, I will never recommend another Trane product to both our dealers as well as our customers. Our employees are considered the Energy Experts and feel it is my responsibility to be truthful and forthcoming to the public about the poor quality/service provided by Trane. Consumers beware!

Me encanta.

When I bought my house it still had the original Trane unit and it lasted 10 more years. That means it lasted 25 years. Naturally I thought I could trust them again for a quality product. I got the xr13 heat pump and hyperion air handler. From the beginning the air handler has been blowing massive amount of air out. The installer tried to get Trane to help but they said it was normal. It felt like an air blower coming out of the unit. That is not normal. The installer said lots of customers had similar complaints about that product. Now my fan on the condenser wont work after only 8 months. Trane doesnt stand by their product anymore and they make junk. Do yourself a favor and buy anything else.

We bought a BIG 5000 sq. ft. 5 br/6 1/2 bath house in foreclosure to renovate. We put 4 brand new, high-efficiency Trane central a/c units because wed always heard Trane was the best and thats what we wanted: pay a bit more than the rest upfront, but get the Best so you wouldnt have to worry as much in the long run... Apparently with the new high-efficiency units, it doesnt quite work that way... We had the house 9 yrs: for the 1st 7 yrs, there literally was not any 6-month period that 1 of the units did not require significant repair service; sure the parts were covered, but not the service calls - it cost us a LOT of extra money. There was a BIG lot next door and a brand new house was built while we lived there. The new owner put in all new Trane units. For the 1st year or 2, there was an a/c service company at that house almost constantly: he and I used to text back and forth rolling our eyes and shaking our heads at whose Trane system was the crappiest. All the service technicians concurred that Trane USED to be the hands-down best, but that things had changed at the top and they were now quite mediocre.

I had a Trane Heat Pump installed January 2014. Initially it was quiet and shut off the same... quietly. Because the compressor is close to my living room wall and the handler is up in the bedroom attic, this issue is quite important to me. The air-handler revs up and pulsates before the unit kicks on and then since it is a two-stage unit, it does the same when it shuts off. Its very annoying when I am trying to sleep at night. The outside unit which is located on the ground outside the living room runs quietly enough until it shuts off. It shuts off very hard and very abruptly causing the metal unit to sound like someone just hit it real hard with a rubber mallet. And then it continues to vibrate probably due to the fact that the metal that is used is so thin it cannot absorb it, I am guessing. Ive heard it go off half way down the block when I am out front. Its kind of startling. I had a routine maintenance check this week and mentioned this to the repair man. He went out and drilled something and it seemed okay but for only two days. Now it is the same as it was before. As far as the air handler, he said that that was its way of talking to the outdoor unit and it was normal. Thats just the way they work he said. All in all, I wish I would not have bought this system. I also will, in the future, deal with a company that takes my concerns seriously and fixes the problem... right. I am stuck with this unit for a while now so I guess I will have to make the best of it... somehow. In the meantime, I plan on calling Trane tomorrow (good luck, huh, from what Ive been reading) to see what might be up. I also will be calling the service company to tell them their fix didnt fix the problem. On the positive side, this system does cool well and my power bills are lower which is a great thing since I live in the desert. However, it is definitely coming at a price... my rest and peace of mind and the peace of my neighbors. Their patio is on the side of where my a/c unit is located.

Bought a new Trane a/c and had it installed by a local installer. Less than 6 months in the unit ran out of gas and required a new coil. The lack of gas meant the condenser unit was overworked. I had the installer out 3 times before it was running again. I contacted Tranes customer service to request a new condenser as in my opinion the one I have is faulty. I cannot get a response from Trane other than it has been forwarded to our escalation department. I have written to Tranes holding company Ingersoll Rand but they have not responded either. Their ad Nothing stops a Trane rubbish. This one did and their customer service is just as bad.

On 3 September we sent an e-mail with a formal complaint about the noise. We have had the Local Authorized Installer visit twice and make adjustments to the furnace and adjust the fan speed (lower the speed). It is now set at the lowest possible speed, which as expected, does not adequately cool or heat our house - the system is on all day to achieve a comfortable level of 73 degrees. On 11 September, the 2nd visit, the 2 person service team agreed that the noise coming from the Furnace Blower was not normal and sounded like metal on metal. They reported that information to the Local Authorized Installer Company Headquarters. On 21 September, the Local Authorized Installer informed me that they had ordered a replacement Motor and Blower Wheel. On 23 September the Installer Company confirmed the parts ordered. Today, 29 September, the Local Authorized Installer stated that they would not install new/replacement parts because Trane Corp HQ would not give them credit for the parts or for a replacement system. Moreover, Trane Corp HQ told the Local Authorized Installer that the noise was normal for this model. We live in a split-level house. The Furnace is in the center of the lower level. The metallic sound travels straight up the intake vents and can be heard in all three bedrooms. Expensive junk- deceptive customer service. We had a split system installed in our sunroom as part of a major home renovation project. The unit functioned erratically the whole time. We were told by the contractor that it was to be expected or maybe we were not using it right. Last December, 14 months later, the condenser died due to condensation turning it into a solid block of ice. We contacted a Trane certified repair company and found out our product has not been registered for the three year warranty, and the one year basic warranty had expired.I contacted Trane, to explain that my husband and I were not at fault for this, and asked them to stand behind their product and help us out. I wasnt expecting a full replacement or even 100% part replacement, but at least 50%. Their response after almost two months of back and forth, providing all sorts of information and getting transferred to three tiers of customer service levels, was to offer us 15% off a new unit. $315 for a $2200 installation! So much for standing behind their products! I guess I should have checked this site first and noted the one star rating! The only reason I gave it two stars is because I believe three out of the four CS reps truly tried to help, but it came down to the Escalation Specialists who dropped the hammer on my hopes for a decent resolution.

XV 90 Control Board fried after warranty expired - I had a XV 90 installed in 2004. It has run without issue up until Christmas Eve 2012. Ill spare the horror story around the troubleshooting process to determine the board was fried, but in the end, I ended up forking out $1,100 to have a new control board installed. Symptoms: (1) no heat; (2) it came on once, but that appeared to be its final cycle; (3) fan would still run, so it led me to believe that there was hope. Bottom line: Theres a known problem with the board for the model/serial of my furnace. It was recommended by Trane that a new control board/upgrade kit be installed. I plan to keep it around just so that I feel like I gained something from spending so much on a new control board. The service tech that did the repair mentioned that this is a common occurrence and he carries extra boards in his truck for this very reason - nice.

Purchased the Trane furnace 6 years ago. This summer when I came in the house from outside my whole house was full of smoke. I ran around looking for the fire and found nothing. A month later last week exactly when it got cold I went to run my furnace and it didnt work. When I went down and opened the panel I could smell the same smoke I smelt that day and there was my circuit board all black and melted. When I called the company who installed it (Masters) they came out and said the board was under warranty but the labor was going to be $300. Sounds cheap. But NO ONE can tell me why it caught on fire. So I told Masters I wasnt going to pay them to put in another circuit board because it could have BURNED MY WHOLE HOUSE DOWN. Their response was call Trane and let them deal with it. So I called Trane and the first question they ask is did I have it professionally serviced every year. I replied no but had heater coils replaced under warranty after just 3 years. Now I sit here waiting on Trane to tell me whats up and where we go from here. But I already know their answer and I told them dont even try and tell since I didnt have it serviced regularly its my fault, because had you WARNED me that if I didnt have it professionally serviced IT MIGHT CATCH FIRE I would NEVER have bought it. So after just 6 years here I sit with no furnace and no resolution. Now every time I call Trane, they say were working on it and well call you back. They have no intention of fixing it. So I called Masters back and said go ahead and replace the board and Ill pay the $300 BUT IF THE FURNACE CATCHES FIRE and burns down my house Im suing both Trane and you. The owner of Masters then says, NO THANKS. WERE NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN COMING BACK TO SERVICE IT. I said, Why are you worried it will catch fire? I mean if its safe whats the big deal? Both Trane and Masters heating and air are crooked and in this together to screw over the consumers knowing they GOT PROBLEMS they arent telling their buyers about when the purchase is made. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER FURNACE MAKER AS both Trane and Masters could care less for our SAFETY and cares if we lose everything. Of course all they are going to say is THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. So I ask if you have had a circuit board melt or catch fire please let me know. I know I am not the only one with this SERIOUS problem.

My husband and I purchased a Trane air conditioner and furnace in 2009. Both came with 10 year warranties on parts. Since we have had both units, each has broken every 2-3 years. The air conditioner broke in June of 2012 on a 90 degree day. The furnace broke in November 2015 on a very cold Michigan winter. June 2017 rolls around more problems with the air conditioner. We are feeling a sense of complacency and BOOM, summer of 2019 and the air conditioner fails us on another 90 degree day. We consult their website and Trane sends their MOST incompetent technician. Moral to the story: Do not buy anything from Trane!

We have 11 Trane furnaces installed in a house built 7 years ago. We have replaced 5 evaporator coils and now have another one we have to replace. The excuse we hear is that this was a manufacturing problem where copper was used instead of aluminum. There are tons of problems itemized on the internet related to quality problems. Every time we replace one, it costs $1,300 and all we get are excuses. Ill tell whoever will listen that they should not buy Trane products. I have never had a problem with any furnaces in any home we have ever lived in, which has been two previous homes (one for 10 years and another for 27 years). No interest from anyone from Trane to provide any assistance or demonstrate any interest in helping to reduce the cost and accept responsibility for faulty engineering design. Im actually surprised that there has not been a class action lawsuit filed since it is common knowledge that there was a major engineering design flaw.

I upgraded to a Trane or at least I thought is as I was told that it was a good size for my home. This Trane air cond 3 ton wasnt working the day my installer put it in the first year it was installed. Sept 2014 something with a valve and the wrong oil used in this units and Trane knew about this problem. Took over 6 weeks to repair. It was a nightmare. Even my installer didnt want to fix it. Took weeks for a part. They would not rush to help me, my wife and mother in law who had health issues. They were ** on the phone. Now I have a bigger problem with the heat system once again. ** cost me 700 dollars out of my pocket this time. This unit only 3 years old. 200 for shipping, 500 for labor and still waiting for part November 11, 2017. O-rings in the heat exchanger are burnt out like the space shuttle Challenger in 1984. This causes the furnace to run hot and will not lit so now youre in the cold. Check it out on youtube. If you want to be hot in the summer, cold in the winter with a big repair bill Take my advice. My Trane HVAC system was 17 years old and stilling working fine. I thought I had better replace it, because of its age and summer quickly approaching. I just had my unit replaced yesterday and I am very happy and satisfied with my choice. I received great service from my old unit, 9 hurricanes, many severe storms and never once has my Trane failed to function and operate flawlessly. If anyone asks I always recommend a Trane. I believe researching the installer is more important than the Trane manufacturer. If it's installed correctly, it'll run trouble free and give you many, many years of carefree service. Always hire someone that knows what they're doing.

I recently found it necessary to replace my 20 year old central HVAC. I contacted a local HVAC contractor in Denver for the job. They replaced my system with new a Trane furnace and A/C system. After waiting in 90 degree heat for 10 days for the equipment to be delivered and another 2 days for installation, when they flipped the switch - nothing! After another day of troubleshooting they discovered that a circuit board was defective! 8 days later, the new circuit board arrived. That finally got the A/C working. After a few days I noticed that the fan noise was really loud, constantly. After another service call, they determined that the fan controller was defective, and oh by the way, the heating was not working. Im sure it will take another 10 days to get a new controller. This is on a brand new, top of the line, $15k system. I strongly recommend that you consider another vendor for your HVAC. Trane clearly has quality control issues.

Purchased new Trane XL15i electric heat pump system for over $14K in 2013. Never used since house has wood heat, electric heat pumps are costly and A/C not necessary, Purchased for home re-sale. Discovered unit not operating in January 2015 - first time we attempted to heat house. Now almost May and unit still not working. So far fan motor has been replaced, a capacitor, two circuit boards, and now more Freon added. It appeared to work, but original problem appeared next day. Either units are defective, or technicians have insufficient repair training. I want to sell home, but it wont pass home inspection until the unit works. I should have read reviews, but assumed Trane was a reputable brand. It is essential to have a back up heating system if you choose this product. Unit is attractive and looks high tech. Too bad it cannot function.

We purchased a Trane XL18i high-efficiency heat pump back in the fall. We have had many issues with the unit since installation. It was initially not installed correctly and continues to not work properly. We thought Trane was a good product, but we are seriously questioning this. Now that the season has changed and we are using A/C for the first time, it does not work correctly. We spent thousands of dollars and NO ONE seems to be able to rectify the issues. We have been given our 3rd thermostat (I dont think theres anything wrong with the thermostats), and Im really not so sure that there isnt a much bigger issue with the installation or unit itself. We believe at this point that the entire installation needs to be checked, including all wiring that was done with it to find the problem and resolve it once and for all. The Trane dealer we used is useless, so we called the Trane 1-800 number and requested a field service rep be sent out. They refused and said that they didnt care about the issue, talk to the dealer. They really dont stand behind their product! We are obviously not alone with this experience, so couldnt we all band together for a class action lawsuit? Any attorneys reading this or does anyone know an attorney who would take this on? I am on board with this. We would love a refund at this point and have them take all the equipment back so we can go with another company. Wishful thinking.

I really like my Trane dealer. But€ The dealer advised me that Trane is not the Trane of old. They have issues in quality and design. I need two new units and am considering Carrier or another brand. What is worse is that the customer service reps are terrible. One last comment. Before you spend a lot of money on a new HVAC system you should air seal your attic. Remove the insulation and seal every hole and joint where the drywall touches wood. Do not add insulation on top of existing insulation in a leaking attic. I spent an extra $2k to do this and replaced the cardboard rafter baffles with corrugated plastic ones from DCI. They are great and brown recluse spiders don€t like plastic. The result is that my cooling costs was reduced by at least 30%. The existing HVAC system now runs less and should help reduce the maintenance cost of a new system.

After having over a hundred TRANE HVAC units installed by ZIRO and distributed by TERMO SERVIS, we had to replace all these rusted units (see attached photos) that were manufactured by Ingersoll Rands Kolin, Czech Republic manufacturing facility. These TRANE units were examined by a court-appointed expert who concluded that the manufacturer Ingersoll Rand used inferior quality materials in the manufacturing process. After only a total of less than 20 months of cooling activity, we had to replace completely over a hundred TRANE HVAC units due to corrosion. The most disappointing part of this entire process was that nobody from Ziro, Termo Servis, Trane nor Ingersoll Rand contacted us to find a solution to this serious problem. Even after receiving the report from the court-appointed expert, none of the above-mentioned companies (Ziro/Termo Servis/Trane/Ingersoll Rand) contacted us. Definitely zero quality and evidence that it doesnt take much to stop a TRANE.

Replaced old furnace in our new home. We had new duct work and the Trane v95 put in, 4 months later the ductwork fell down. Then the burners went out on the furnace, had to be replace after 3 months of use, said our basement was too damp. Had to have it serviced again for continuously running and not heating wasting my propane. They said it was our fault we didnt buy the extra warranty. Not everyone has the money to get that. Once again the burners are not heating one year after repair. Each time this has cost me 179.00, the part was under warranty. I am pretty handy but this is ridiculous. They were rude to us and blamed us. My galvanized ductwork was replaced with the foil foam stuff and I had to make many repairs from the mice eating it. Not to mention it keeps falling down heating and cooling my crawl space. We live in the country. They had a terrible time getting it to work at first. That should have been my first clue... I called home depot about it many times and the service company. When they did come out I ended up doing some of the work. Dont have an order number, bought it through home depot. OH, they are no longer using the company that installed my furnace. Too many complaints...

10 years ago we had a Trane heat pump and indoor unit installed, we didnt buy the extended warranty because Trane appeared to be a solid brand. Literally each year during a/c season weve had to replace some portion of the indoor and/or compressor units. Weve had a circuit board short out because a lizard found a way onto the compressor electronics box. Weve replaced 3 master control boards in the inside unit and numerous other circuit boards and sensors. The system has not been reliable and has cost us as much in repairs as we paid for it originally. The Trane website talks about all the extensive testing they do but they seem to overlook basic things. It doesnt seem that we should have to replace this many electronics each time we start the a/c season.

No he tenido ningún problema con él.

Barely more than 5 yrs ago, I had a gas-fired furnace model TUH2D120A9V5VA installed by a reputable HVAC dealer. Last week during 19 F weather, the blower motor quit costing me $1600 in repairs. I wish I had seen all the complaints on the internet before purchasing my furnace and A/C units. Trane obviously has a Quality problem for which their warranties are inadequate. I will not be purchasing another Trane product and I will make sure that my neighbors (neighborhood & internet) are made aware of Tranes numerous bad reviews. They are obviously more interested in their bottom line than in their products.

After our Trane heat pump that we had for 15 years went out, we had another complete Trane system installed. After 3 weeks when it was in the mid 90s the AC went out. We got a hold on the company that installed it and they came out, checked everything and said that it has a stuck valve. They would have to order one, which would take 3 weeks to get because they are on back order. I said BS! Told them get a whole new system and take the valve out of it and replace ours with it which would only take a day to get. After that it worked great again. That is until 3 more weeks went by, then it did it again. They will be out today to look at it, but he said it probably is the same thing as before. The tech said that they are having this same problem with several other Tranes systems they installed. He also said that Trane has known about the problem for quite a while and has done nothing to really fix the problem. I and the company that installed our system are talking about completely removing the system and installing a complete different system from a different manufacturer.

I have purchased several TRANE HVAC units over the years, as have my family. I have 2 new units 2.5 years old, in March, I was told the evaporator coil was broken and all the refrigerant had leaked out. I have maintained my units as recommended, even bought new Freon lines to avoid the whole leak scandal. TRANE did replace the part and paid 1/2 of the labor which was $1200. A month later, 2 capacitor motors are broken--on these 2.5 year old units. Customer service staff are robots that keep repeating they will not honor labor assistance but one time, they have no desire to discuss doing right by the customer nor will they allow you to speak to anyone in upper management that may actually care. NEVER BUYING A TRANE AGAIN.

I purchased a home in September 2012 and learned that the A/C unit was not working (found out on the day I closed). I advised seller that I would not move forward with purchase if I had to replace a major appliance like an A/C unit. Seller agreed to replace and I agreed to replace furnace portion of package to avoid a greater cost should the furnace not work. I started noticing the A/C heating up at certain parts of the day and thought I needed to readjust thermostat. After several days of increasing temperatures during the day I decided to call a service technician only to learn that I had no refrigerant in my system. Further investigation showed a leak in the coil. I called the company who installed and they said the part was no longer under warranty and that the warranty was only for 1 year. I decided to call the service technician back and advised him what the installing company said and he advised me that the part that is not working is under warranty and that Trane is aware of the defect with the type coils they use. So the part was definitely under warranty. It turns out that the Tech was correct and Trane provided the coil at no charge, however, I was stuck with a $575.00 labor charge for a unit that is only 2 years, 10 months old. While I am pleased with the work that the Tech did on the unit and how quickly he came to repair and how thoroughly he cleaned up the area after he completed the work, I immediately changed my servicing company. If Trane is aware of this defect, why are they allowed to keep selling a piece of equipment (part) that is obviously defective when they know it is going to fail? While they do not make money off selling the part it still costs consumers labor cost - in my case, $575.00. My dissatisfied rating is because Trane knowingly sells this defective merchandise that would cost consumers huge labor costs in such a short time. How can they do this?

We installed two Trane XLi20 units five years ago. The first floor unit has performed flawlessly. The second floor air handler was replaced within two months, followed by over 20 service visits by our local Trane installer (who has been great throughout). Since the local distributor has not been able to solve the recurrent coiling failure issues and Trane has not offered to replace the compressor, even though the problem almost always seems to be low refrigerant pressure, our installer has offered to install a comparable new Lennox system for free. Trane has been non-responsive to consumers for such a long time that I cannot believe they can still survive in this business. Never again. Has anyone started a class action against Trane? Id love to join in.

Replaced our 30-yr-old furnace with a new Trane furnace XT95 in Canada. This was installed on Feb. 20, 2013. The heating is poor. We have a finished basement and it never gets above 58 degrees F. When I sit on my couch just above the furnace, it feels like I`m riding on a train. Have had numerous service calls but they don`t know what`s the matter. Theyve changed motors, adjusted parts and used their diagnostics tools and this is the installers. Now have to wait for the big experts from Trane. Am extremely disappointed with Trane as a company and their products. I purchased a new system 8/2015 and made several attempts to register it and thought it was registered. I just learned from my dealer the registration did not go thru and I have to pay a lot of money to get a new coil for the inside part of the system. Purchased furnace and AC. Now 2.5 years later Trane says I have no warranty and I will have to pay all the expense. Even other types of junk has at least a year warranty on manufacturing defects. The coil has a hole in it. Which is obviously a manufacturing defect and Trane wont make it good. Product is not what it is advertised as. Its hard to stop a Trane?? Guess it would have to start first. I will never buy any other Trane products and will be sure no one in my family does either.

Purchased an American Standard (owned by Trane) HVAC in spring 2017. In spring 2018, the AC was not cold. Technician diagnosed the problem: leaking indoor coil. He replaced and recharged it, then told me that the $545 for labor/refrigerant was NOT covered under warranty - only parts are. When he sensed my outrage, he explained he was on my side and told me to call Trane Customer Service. I did - case #**. They explained the warranty to me (as if I needed that), and I made it clear that it IS A JOKE. How can a company stand by their product when they are asking consumers to incur cost for THEIR MISTAKES! When the supervisor realized I was not going to stop complaining (no yelling, no cursing), she asked if there was anything else she could help me with, to which I answered you have not helped me at all, and then she hung up on me as I began my next sentence... Just had a new XV18 air conditioner installed with all the bell & whistles. But when the fan is in continuous run mode it shuts off every time the AC comes on. So at night when the ac has to cool the house 1 degree the fan shuts off. The house goes quiet while cooling, then the fan comes back on, that is not the definition of continuous. Have contacted Trane many times asking if this is how the system operates or is there a problem. Neither Trane nor the dealer that installed the unit have been able to answer this simple question in 2 weeks. Trane just tells me to call the installer, and since the installer cannot answer the question I do not understand why it is so hard for Trane to get me to the right person at the company that knows the equipment. There are other issues with the unit in regards to noise & vibration in the wall, but I do not want the installer to put any more work into the unit if we cannot solve the fan issue. So now everything is on hold and I am not getting an answer. Has anyone else had this problem? If Trane cannot help with a basic question I am concerned about if they will back the equipment. Seems once you have it the problem is yours not theirs. Bad customer support & service.

I am actively seeking a Florida class action attorney to represent me and thousands of other Florida consumers. Here is the background: In Feb. 2013, I was quoted $6185 for a new TRANE XL Hyperion 16 SEER 3 ton heat pump system for my condo in Gainesville, FL. This included a 10-year limited parts warranty supplied via the TRANE corporation, which was why I selected their equipment. The local utility company supplied a generous rebate as well, so my final purchase price was $5085 out of pocket. There were lots of forms and even air flow tests to be performed for energy efficiency, and a city building permit, too.Unbeknownst to me, this 10-year limited warranty coverage required ONLINE REGISTRATION WITHIN 60 DAYS, or became invalid, and was reduced by 50% to a mere 5-year base warranty. The online registration had to be done via a TRANE company website. However, I was not told to register the serial numbers, or I would lose my warranty coverage. But, the dealer, who would be clearly advantaged by this reduced coverage, knew about it for certain, as the policy started 4 years prior in 2009.My AC system is now 2 years old and I learned quite by accident, that I had lost my warranty coverage because it was not registered online before Day 61 on the TRANE website. I then contacted the dealer by phone and email and filed a request with TRANE to get my original 10-year limited warranty (which I paid for) re-instated. After two weeks of email, calls and postings on Facebook with the TRANE Corporation, I was finally told this week by phone by Cierra **, Trane Escalations Supervisor, that Trane respectfully decline[s] participation to change your warranty terms to 10 yrs. On behalf of Trane Inc. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate the time you took to make us aware of your concerns. Thus my 10-year limited warranty is now invalid and I am left with only 5 years.I believe that this is warranty fraud and may also violate the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (DUTPA), and likely constitutes bad faith on the part of Trane, and the installing dealer, who should have registered the serial numbers on the day of the install, just as a LEXUS dealer would register your VIN with LEXUS when they sell you a car. Please note that this required 60-day online registration policy is an advantage to ANY UNSCRUPULOUS HVAC dealer, and a huge DISADVANTAGE to most consumers, including the blind, handicapped, mentally challenged, poor people with limited or no Internet access, out of town property owners, etc. I am appalled at TRANEs response to this sincere and genuine effort on my part to restore my original 10-year warranty coverage. I believe that it is possible that HUNDREDS of consumers fall victim to this disappearing warranty coverage policy, but I am only asking for your help to restore my original warranty. However, it is worth noting that TRANE could solve this problem tomorrow by REQUIRING that ALL FLORIDA DEALERS register the serial numbers of their system on the date of installation.Meanwhile, I believe the damages in the loss of 5 years of warranty coverage is about $3000, if not more. I have contacted an HVAC warranty services company to find out the actual cost to restore similar warranty coverage. I doubt that any other local dealer will issue extended warranty coverage on my system, as it is now 2 years 4 months old. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE IS APPRECIATED. I HAVE LOTS OF DOCUMENTATION I CAN SHARE, INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL SALES QUOTE, INVOICE, AND MANY EMAIL TO TRANE AND LIBERTY AIR.

I would HIGHLY suggest NOT buying anything by the Trane brand. Heres why: I purchased 2 new systems from them thinking I was getting better equipment, but that could not be further from the truth. Keep in mind that I live in Arizona where the temps are 115º plus. Now, the first issue is that one of the 2 units went out immediately. It broke when I was out of town forcing the heater to run indefinitely, even though it was set to cool only. As it turns out, they cover all of their wring with peanut oil!?? Well guess what, mice LOVE peanut oil and they were attracted to that lovely taste (probably why we set traps with peanut butter and it works so well). This to me is just simply a bad business decision. Needless to say, everything in our room melted as the temperature was kept above 118 for 3 days straight, while we were gone. Now none of our drawers close correctly, our doors do not shut right and all of the oil in our wood furniture is gone. On to #2! Oh, Keep in mind, these are less than 1 year old! I am still paying $20,000.00 for these two lovely babies!! This time the coil went out, causing us to live in the peak AZ heat for almost a week. I was told that this is uncommon for any brand. I guess we are just lucky. #3 This time the control module went out in the air handler! I was told this never happens unless it is just a bad unit... Again, I guess I am just lucky. #4 This time the Thermostat broke. This is their proprietary thermostat, so their own technology on that thing. Good luck with these things, they have some convoluted method of resetting and joining the network or adopting to your account that is a real treat. #5 Did I mention that I still have a good year or more to go on my payments for these gems!!! Now, the coil went out and leaked out all of the refrigerant. back to 100º in our house! They said it would be at least a week before they could get the part to me (which I thought was a bit long for such a well know brand with distribution) so I wrote them a letter on their website asking why Amazon can get me anything I need in 2 hours, but they take a week, even though they are installing hundreds of these daily, in my city. I also asked is this the type of QUALITY that I should expect from my purchase decision to go with them?Guess what I received back in response to that letter? Well, if you guessed NOTHING, you would be correct. Par for the course here with Trane.#6 The vents and 2 stage motor never really seemed to be very productive, so I called my dealer locally and asked them to investigate. They found that this unit was shipped with malformed flashing on the air handler and it was blocking 80% of the air flow. He trimmed it out and got it back to normal. So, again, I write another letter to Trane on their website asking if this is something that should be replaced or if it is common and again asked if this is the Quality I should expect from their brand. My Answer? Ding Ding Ding, if you guessed NOTHING again! #7 Still waiting on my coil to be delivered after 2 weeks and the installer just called to tell me that Trane sent the wrong coil, so we will need to reorder it from them, AGAIN, and I need to wait. So, moral of the story? If you want really bad quality, tons of headaches, appointments, ruined furniture and pay at least 4 times as much as other brands, you should absolutely buy Trane. Or if you simply want the indoors of your house to be like this, then you should also buy Trane! Otherwise buy ANYTHING ELSE.

My home in SW Florida was built in 1967. Any HVAC system will have a challenge keeping up with the humidity and high temps here. My Trane AC system is 6 years old. It performs pretty well for the most part. I use cheap filters that allow the system breath and I replace them every month. Don€t waste money on expensive filters unless you have serious allergies. Thick filters make the AC work harder and will wear out the equipment.General maintenance is easy and I am diligent about keeping the outside unit clean. I use a spray bottle with watered down Dawn dish soap and a garden hose. I regularly clear the drain pipe with my shop vac. I had a routine check-up recently from my home maintenance provider (HomeTech - I highly recommend) and asked the tech why cold air is blowing out of the crevices around the maintenance doors and bolts on my air handler. Plain and simple, it is a design flaw. He said he sees it all the time on Trane units.I called Trane to find out if there was a replacement part for the casing or a recommended remedy. It was a runaround... All they would tell me is to call my dealer to evaluate the problem. That would cost me $119 for somebody to come out and say, €yep, there€s cold air leaking from the air handler into your garage. Ill call Trane and get back to you.€ Parts are covered, but there was no evidence of parts available. Please! My solution was Gorilla tape and bubble wrap to cut down the loss of cold air. It worked, but it really shouldn€t be so difficult to get a straight answer and a fair solution. I paid a lot of money for my AC system. I didn€t expect to be patching it myself. There is a lot of room for improvement.

We purchased an American Standard Gold (made by Trane with Trane customer service) HVAC system for our upstairs area in 2012. We did so based ratings and quality reviews. We had good Trane systems in our previous homes with no major issues. This current system experienced 8 breakdowns in the past six years with four this year alone. In nearly every case it was a different issue. I have paid more than $3000.00 in repairs in spite of having a 10 year parts warranty with the system. I have never had such failures of HVAC in any of the homes that I have owned over the past 40 years.

Moved into our new home and had a new Trane HVAC System installed two-years-ago. About a week ago, my wife and I noticed that the heater began making a rumbling noise when starting. A couple of days later, the rumbling startup noise grew worse and became a constant loud noise resembling a playing card in bike spokes. We called the authorized Trane servicer who installed the unit in our home. The technician told us that the Blower Wheel broke away from the hub and needed to be replaced. The technician told us that we would be responsible for troubleshooting and labor cost to replace the part. After reviewing the Trane limited warranty; it is just that, very limited coverage for their obvious unreliable product. Ive owned several homes in my lifetime and never experienced a near new unit fail in such a short time. This is not the time have our heater breakdown when a historical cold front (single digits) is on us. The Trane model for this issue is 4TGB3F48A1000AA. After reading about similar failures to others, we are researching to locate a more reliable product and company.

We bought our Trane unit about 6 years ago... First, let me start by saying that Tranes slogan Nothing runs like a Trane is accurate! Although, a bit misleading because this thing runs worse than anything weve had previously! First, the compressor went out a year after install, charged for freon and told it was a defect... Trane still fought me on trying to charge for the compressor! Next, thermal switch went out, was told we dont change our filters enough... What, twice a month aint good enough for a freakin Trane?!? Now, weve got clogging in the Condensation drain system... Enough condensation to flood my sons bedroom! Reason for the clog: Reduced ID on the drain tube and a negative gravity feed which collects sludge and clogs. Dont know what school of thought these guys have, but honestly would it hurt to have a free flowing drain system under the tray? Instead of relying on these bozos, Im going to just retube the entire drain tray and fix their crap right. When youre looking for an A/C unit, look here, look there, look everywhere but stay the heck away from Trane! Theyre bad news, problematic and worthless!

A well respected HVAC installer turned on our Trane Heat Pump for the first
A well respected HVAC installer turned on our Trane Heat Pump for the first time today, Nov. 16, 2012, as our new home was being completed. Within 15 minutes, it exploded and caught fire and if our contractor had left 5 minutes earlier, our home would have burned to the ground. Fortunately, he was able to put out the fire, but within minutes it would have been out of control. This evening we read reviews of Trane Heat Pumps that consistently complain of poor service, poor quality, numerous repairs, even a report of one previous fire. It appears that this company is doing nothing to stand behind their products and correct serious problems.

My HVAC service man has just left after sharing the good news that yet another expensive fix is in store for me because of my Trane. My system was installed 5 years and 6 months ago, and wouldnt you know it, my leaking evaporator coil is toast and the warranty is... well yes... 5 years. This another in a long list of failures, repairs, bad contactor, bad capacitor, blown fuses, indoor unit fan not assembled correctly from the factory with evidence that the set screw was screwed down on the round instead of the flat of the shaft (that was a nice sound in the middle of the night btw), coolant added several times during the last 3 years until today finally discovering a huge leak in the evap coil. I guess it finally made its way from a slow leak to a deluge. Last fill lasted 24 hours. This is ridiculous. Stay away from Trane, please!

I purchased my home in 2010. The Trane AC was installed new in 2007. I have had issue after issue each and every year ironically at about the same time each year. I do not touch the unit. It is set for constant just about year round living in FL. First, it was a non-issue HVAC service call messed around with unit and said it was all under warranty - never got a real answer but the service call was $300. The second year it was the hi/low switch which cost me $300 in labor. Today, it is the blower again under warranty but labor costs are at $200. At this rate, I will have paid for this unit again before it should be time to replace it.

In 2015 I purchased a Trane XL 20 heat pump system with variable speed air handler and heat pump. Installer moved out door unit from where the old unit was to a place that made installation easier. As it was summer and the unit was in cooling mode, the outdoor unit was much quieter that the old one. When the weather changed and the unit went into heat mode the outdoor unit became so loud that it could be heard throughout the house. I called the installer and they came out and assessed the unit and informed me that the noise was normal. As the unit now sits outside my bedroom instead of the kitchen, it can be rather annoying if the weather is really cold and the unit is running at 100%.After about 3 years I awoke one morning to an error on the thermostat and no A/C. Service man checked unit and said the wire tie holding a piece of foam insulation around one of the lines inside the outdoor unit to keep two copper lines from chafing, had rubbed a hole through one of the lines and caused the failure. He took pictures and noted it on the service report. I contacted TRANE, as to me, this was a factory flaw in the wire tie placement. TRANE requested documentation which I provided. They rejected the claim and I was out almost $1000.00 to repair the unit. As far as efficiency goes, the unit has lowered my over all electricity bill. Also the filters for the air handler state that they are 4 inch filters but in actuality they are 3.75 inch. As such filters purchased on the open market do not fit and requires one to buy them from a TRANE installer or dealer.

In July 2014, I purchased a Trane 4 ton air conditioner and air handler. In July 2017, the coil developed a leak and I spent $1150 in labor cost to install new coil and $300 to replace refrigerant even though the coil was under warranty. In August 2019, the new coil also developed a leak. I had to pay $850 in labor to install my 3rd coil and $390 to replace refrigerant that leaked out. Replacing both coils under warranty cost me a total of $2690. My service technician from AA American Air Conditioning told me that this is a common problem with Trane coils. I called Trane Customer Service and was immediately told that they would not compensate me for my expenses even though they are selling defective coils. Customer Service told me to have my service technician request a visit by a Trane field representative. He tried to do this but was told that the customer (me) has to contact Trane Customer Service to request a visit by a company field representative. I am in a Catch 22 situation and Trane is giving me the runaround. They clearly do not want to take responsibility for their defective coils and they have a €customer be damned€ approach to customer service.

I bought a brand new heat pump system from Trane. The Certified Contractor who installed the unit was excellent, I have no issues with them. My brand new unit lasted less than 3 years at the beach. Please allow me to repeat less than 3 years, and Trane refused to stand behind their product. The unit actually rusted completely through in less than 3 years. I would highly suggest you never buy from Trane because they do not stand behind their own product. Do yourself a favor and skip all the headaches, DO NOT BUY A TRANE PRODUCT. I NEVER WILL AGAIN!

The original blower wheel installed in model 4TGB3F48A1000AA Furnace Air Handler is inappropriate. In my estimation, it was designed to fail. In my case, it failed just after 4 years of service. The notched blade design is not compatible with a direct drive system. The amount of overlapping material of the blade relative to the dual center drive disks is not sufficient to withstand the rotary forces placed on them by the motor. A solid blade design would be the best option. I would suspect that others have had the same issue. The seasonal HVAC tech who performs bi-annual service noted that he was very familiar with the sound this particular blower wheel prior to failure. As it stands, this item is not covered by any warranty and supposedly can only be installed by a licensed Trane technician for approx. $500.Failure in this case equals the dual center drive disk slipping out of its original position. Each fan blade skips out of its designated slot allowing the drive disk to rotate irrespective of the fan assembly. DIYers will be happy to know this can be replaced for less than $70 without any special tools. Just match the blower wheel attributes to those listed on Emotorstore.com

In April 2007 I purchased a Trane residential HVAC system for $8500 from Home Depot. The authorized Trane installer at that time was McCarthy Services. They installed the system and €completed€ the install on April 9, 2007. I was given a certificate of warranty by McCarthy that covered from April 9, 2007 to April 9, 2017. Several months later I was looking for the inspection certificate from the county and found that there was not one in my paperwork. I contacted the county to get a copy. They did not find a record of a permit issued for the installation of my HVAC system. I contacted McCarthy and informed them that they did not get a permit for the install and did not have a county inspection. McCarthy was issued a permit on May 13, 2008 and had the inspector come out. The install failed inspection. They made some changes to the system, and again it failed. Finally, on July 17, 2008, the install passed inspection by the county. On July 1, 2017, the AC failed. A tech looked at it and said the compressor had failed and needed to be replaced, and that the coil also needed to be replaced as the new compressors use a different kind of freon and are not compatible with that coil. The cost was to be $5975. I called Trane and explained that the original installation did not pass inspection until July 17, 2008 so my 10-year warranty should go from July 17, 2008 to July 17, 2018 and this compressor/coil replacement should be covered by the warranty. They told me to take a hike. I paid for the install out of pocket and filed a complaint with Trane. The Trane customer service person said they could not do anything. I escalated it and that person basically told me to stick it.I am a home inspector. We used to rate Trane and Carrier as two of the best HVAC systems. We typically tell our customers that any major appliance that is 10 years old could be ready for a replacement in the near future so they should start planning. I have seen AC units that are 20 years old still running fine. More and more we are hearing horror stories about Trane HVAC systems. I no longer recommend Trane to anyone and now suggest Carrier.Trane seems to have abandoned their commitment to quality and their customer service sucks. I can attest to both. It seems that the one thing that can easily stop a Trane is a few years. So, I decided to file a suit against Trane in the hope that they would at least negotiate some partial payment to me for this replacement (which was a Trane only because if it was a Carrier I would have no chance at any reimbursement). I filed suit in small claims court in my county. I heard nothing from Trane and expected them to be a no-show on the day of court. Instead, they sent a hot-shot lawyer from Washington DC to fight me. The case was moved to regular court and a trial date was set. I had to file a document called a Bill of Particulars stating my complaint. Their hot-shot lawyer filed a 10-page reply referencing a whole bunch of cases and provided 11 reasons why I should not get my money. I am certain that this has cost Trane more than the $5000 I was looking for. This attorney did not even ask me if I was willing to take some other amount to make me happy and drop the case. They are clearly really serious about not giving a crap about their customer. Please, don€t ever buy a Trane.

Had new Trane XL20i Heat Pump installed 10/20/2010. July 2014 Air Handle evaporator leaked, repaired. Then Condenser became erratic, low-pressure issues, numerous service calls, more parts replaced. Left for summer to NJ from FL, came back, low-speed compressor fried. Trane will not assist. Installer is a good company, and Trane simply tells us what we need to hear.First they tell you the service company need to contact distributor then service company tells you that not the way it works. Mentioned to Trane representative Alex, that the inconsistencies between service company understanding and Tranes position leaves me with no options. Want condenser system replaced and mention consumer affairs massive number of reviews complaining and they will no longer talk to you. It is time someone take the lead and file a class action lawsuit as there is a pattern here. I will purchase alternative equipment in the future. Nice going Trane!

I built my house and had an XL16i installed in 2005. Within 6 months there was a recall and the installer came out and swapped out both the exchanger and the compressor (virtually changed everything out except the copper and control lines). Since that time the high and low compressors have been replaced (at different times) three times up until the 10 year compressor warranty period expired. Since there is no coverage for freon or labor, I ate the costs every time and could probably have saved a reasonable amount toward the purchase of a reputable and reliable unit by now. So... two months (2016) out of the 10 year warranty the low-level compressor has once again failed. My service company was kind enough to wire past the defective compressor and now the unit is running on the high level compressor only. It is simply a matter of time before the remaining stage fails. I spoke at length with the Service Techs and both stated this has been a known, ongoing issue with this unit (in the HVAC community they replace these compressors on a regular basis!) and Trane simply ignores its existence... They (Trane) have a stockpile of compressors known to fail, a system (i.e. XL16i) with these ongoing, inherent problems which they refuse to address, and customers are simply stuck with their lemons! Where is a Class-action lawyer when you need them?

Installed a brand new HVAC unit in 2013. In 2018 the outdoor line cracked twice not covered under warranty. $400 to fix. In 2019 the compressor went bad. Apparently you have to register both the unit and the compressor separately in order to get the 10-year warranty. Which in my opinion is a scam so that maybe youll miss it and they can reduce the warranty to 5 years. At 5 years and 11 months $1,000 compressor went bad. No help from Trane at all. $1,900 bill this time, and only a one-year warranty on the new compressor. Buy another brand.

Bought a new house in June 2017 and saw that it had a Trane HVAC unit with a heat pump. I was thinking it would be like the Trane unit my dad bought 30 years ago that is still running, but it wasnt. AC worked fine from June till November when it started getting cold. Turned the heat on and the house actually got colder from the air coming out. Called the builder and filed a warranty claim. The HVAC installation company Carolina Comfort wanted to leave me without heat for 2 weeks. I called my realtor who got the builder involved and 5 days later they had the new valve to food it. Called the dealer and Trane telling them this was ridiculous and they needed to replace the unit since it was overheated from the bad valve. They said not going to happen. Fast forward to December 2018, as it got cold again and I turn the heat on it worked for one day then blew cold air cooling our house instead of heating it before I shut it off. Called Carolina comfort again and they looked at it and said the compressor failed from running last year with a bad TXV. Called Trane again and they said its fixed, thats all they are going to do. I explained that I am not comfortable with this unit being 0 for 2 in 18 months during heat season. They said it is what it is. Next time Ill buy a carrier Lenox or even a Goodman before I ever buy a Trane unit. And if I buy a house with a Trane unit already there, Im going to get a warranty to plan on replacing that trash. Done with buying Trane.

We purchased a new Trane A/C 16 months ago and have had a few small problems. Now our A/C has quit working due to a coolant leak. Paid $349 for a leak test only to find out the leak is in the evaporator coils in the air handler. The part is under warranty but labor to replace it will be $999. I spoke to a Trane representative thinking they should foot at least a portion of the bill because if their product worked correctly I would never be in this position. They adamantly refused to consider even paying anything, intimating that it was the environment or installation that caused the problem. We had our last air conditioner 15 years before having any service problems and have barely made it a year with this unit. This will be my last Trane purchase.

We purchased and had installed, a Trane 15 Seer heat pump unit in October 2008. In 2 1/2 years, we had 4 service calls, including a refrigerant leak and the necessity to replace the indoor coils. Luckily, we have a 10-year parts and labor warranty on this unit. But it is worse than the old unit we replaced. Now there is a strong chemical odor that fills our house each time the heat runs. Yet, another service call will be needed and another day off from work. This is the biggest piece of junk. Trane always had a good reputation, but I would never purchase another of their products.

Absolutely horrible product, customer service and shady warranties. We purchased a Trane HVAC system, XL90 furnace and a 2 ton AC unit in 2009. It is used a couple months out of the year at a lakefront house in Chicago and was installed 6 years ago. Warranty paperwork says 10 yr warranty. Trane says 5 yr. We are stuck with an inoperative system. It is now August and Trane Customer Service has yet to warranty their product. We are left without an AC unit again this summer - installer wants $4000 to replace a 5/6 year old unit. Trane wont cover compressor or condenser or other failed parts. There are better manufactured HVAC units out there. DONT BUY A TRANE. They do not warranty their products and there is a huge amount of built in obsolescence.

We have 5 Trane HVAC units and they are 4-5 years old. They have been the source of consistent leaks stemming from coil problems. The Trane dealer who installed them points at Trane and says it is product quality problems. We lost confidence in the service from our installation Trane dealer and the new Trane dealer is much more honest and transparent to explain that these are manufacturing problems. This dealers service people say the coils had manufacturing quality problems so Trane changed the material used in the coils and will not acknowledge this problem or face up to the problem with their customers. I have $2,500 of repairs on these Trane units and some house repairs as well. I have written 2 lengthy letters (with all supporting repair bills to support the problems) in May 2012 and one just recently and received no response from Trane, except my wifes persistence reached a Trane employee by phone on the first letter and this employee said Trane would not do anything. I called their Customer Service # a week ago on our 2nd series of problems and waited for over 1 hour with no response and no follow up response from them even though their customer service # takes your information and says they will call back the same or next day. I emailed their Customer Service 3 days ago and no response to that. In short, Trane is a company with serious product quality problems, and per their lack of willingness to service their customers, doesnt value their customers. I would strongly recommend to anyone building a home or replacing your HVAC systems that you not consider Trane.

I purchased a new air conditioner to replace a 18 year old one. They basically sold me a defective XL 15i. As soon as the tech started up the new unit I asked him why it shook so much. He said that is because Trane went to a 2 blade fan in it. I said that appears to be a stupid decision. For the next 3 years I had to keep tightening screws on it because it would squeak horribly and my neighbors would hear it. So I finally called the installers to have them check it out. After taking it apart they noticed that the fan blade was bent! There is NO way it bent on its own underneath the cover so I know it was that way from the beginning. They said since I did not get the extended warranty it would cost 400 dollars to get a new blade. I said it was like that from the day they installed it. They did not care. I called trane and they said since I did not get the extended warranty it was not covered. I said, Wait a minute, you sold me a defective air conditioner and you will not stand behind.. They said, NO.. So I am done with trane. Trane XB14 Weathertron. I purchased a brand new Trane 3T-15 Seer Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Unit from a reputable company who recommended this unit and completed the install May 2011. Ive been with this A/C company since I moved to Florida 18 years ago, so I trusted their recommendation. I was told Trane was the top of the line and worth paying more to have the best, peace of mind, 10 year warranty if registered within 60 days, etc. Its been nothing but a costly nightmare once the 5 year mark was reached and the 10 year warranty ended up NOT being what was sold to me. Even though the company has been good about some of the items that were supposed to be 10 years, they have haggled with me and TRANE over what is actually covered on the warranty and the period of time. CRAZY! CRAZY!With this major purchase, you would expect to get more than 5 years out of a system without spending additional major $$$. The following are my repairs/replacements since May 2016 to date: EFC control board, capacitor, condenser coil (plus R410 to replace what was lost), another trip to fix a R410 leak as a result of when the condenser coil was replaced, replaced entire circuit board, new blower relay, and thermometer all within a 3 year period. Keep in mind, that not only do you pay for labor to install the warranted item, each visit is a service/diagnostics fee.Today, my system runs constantly causing very high energy bills because the A/C simply cant keep up with the outside temps -- called for service and after diagnosing the units for 1.5 hours, they tell me they cant find anything wrong. The AC Guy told me that they just dont make Trane Units like they used to!! Im very disappointed in Trane products, I wish I would have read these reviews before taking the recommendation of a company I trust, and certainly dont recommend purchasing a TRANE to anyone. Very Disappointed!

I said that was NOT acceptable. This is a new unit and not even two years old and patching is not acceptable. I said Trane can replace both units at their expense, poor quality equipment. I said I cannot deal with this anymore and had to walk away. Tech said he will call his boss. 13:20 Tech said his boss would want him to patch leak so that I have air until they can deal with Trane regarding replacement. He did not know how long that would take. He is currently patching leak on outside unit. I told him this is causing me too much stress and I cannot deal with it. I will be seeking what legal avenues I have in the state of Arkansas. I have spent too much money and received inferior parts. 13:48 one of H&A owners called, and said they will talk to Trane tomorrow and will demand Trane do something and he will call me tomorrow. He said he will make it right. He also said he thinks I got a lemon and will push for new equipment. If youre looking for HVAC equipment, youve probably heard the Nothing runs like a Trane commercials. Well, my experience with them differs a bit. Their slogan should be Nothing RUINS like a TRANE... ruins your reputation with your tenants, ruins your day, ruins your familys holiday, and ruins your bank account. My system, which SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN WARRANTY cost me almost $2000 to fix due to a defective A coil, and TRANE weaseled out of their warranty and stuck me with the bill. If youre looking for HVAC equipment, do yourself a favor... dont believe Tranes advertising hype and choose a company that will truly stand behind their product. I contacted them through their website, explained what had happened, and a week later, got a machine-like call from a minimum-wage customer service agent who obviously couldnt care less if I ever bought another TRANE system and refused to even consider my warranty claim. Needless to say, Ill NEVER spend a dime with TRANE after this experience and I strongly suggest you heed my warning and avoid them like the plague.

Bought a Trane 15 months and had several issues with the unit. We use LP for the heat, the company installed a natural gas unit. Unit quit cooling and the repair company said it was a leak in the evaporator coil. Price to repair $212.50. Unit cooled for a couple days and they came back out and said the condenser coil had a leak. Price to repair $999.00. This is the worst company and I recommend buying a Goodman over this crap. Called Trane and they did not want to do anything but offer some help on the 999.00 bill. STAY AWAY FROM TRANE!!!

Our Trane dealer can€t even get a motor to replace this one as it is on back order. What does that tell you. It has been 2 weeks and still the part is on back order. I will never buy another Trane unit. My recommendation to everyone is DO NOT buy one.

I replaced a 2 ton heat pump in January of 2014 to replace another Trane 2T Heat Pump unit that had only been installed in 2001 when the house was built. The new unit quit heating in Nov of 2015 (less than 2 years) and I had Whites Heating and Air-conditioning (our local Trane Dealer) come out to fix it. They had to replace the TXV Valve and replace the refrigerant - at a cost to me of $888. Trane replaced the valve itself (which cost $130) but WOULD NOT COVER LABOR OR REFRIGERANT. This is ridiculous in my opinion for a $4000 Heat Pump. Tranes warranty is really bad and I would warn anyone who is thinking about purchasing a TRANE unit to look at another company that is more reputable.

We purchased a Trane heat pump in 2005 for a new residence. On September 18, 2011, the compressor failed. We called the installing company and was told that a new compressor would be $1600.00. I called the Trane Customer Service number and was told by a representative that there was nothing they could do. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no supervisor will speak to you. I will be calling again today.

My rating is for the heating and air conditioning company whom we purchased the equipment from and contact when repairs need to be made. We have 2 units. The first unit was purchased over 30 year ago and has not needed maintenance at all. The second unit was purchased five years ago and has needed to be repaired.... small repairs, nothing major, and we have been satisfied completely with both units.

In 2017, I moved into a brand new home equipped with a Trane HVAC unit. Approximately 30 months later, the air conditioner failed. I was told that the condensing unit, a major part that normally lasts for ten years or more, was defective; that although the part itself was under warranty, the installation labor and coolant replacement were not and that a repair would cost close to $2,000. I was also informed that Trane and their dealers knew they had a problem with their condensers beginning in 2014 but continued to sell them and, as far as I know, based upon the experiences of others, still do. When the problem first occurred, Trane reimbursed the customers affected but eventually stopped the practice when it became apparent that there were so many claims.Like many of the reviewers, I was given the runaround by Trane customer service. Each time I called, I was asked to repeat all the information I had already provided as though the call was my first. I was assured over and over again that my case was under review but it was never resolved. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that it was not possible. In short, my experience with Trane customer service was probably the worst experience I have ever had with any company. There are many HVAC brands worthy of consideration. Trane is not one of them.

This is the reason I chose Trane for my heating and cooling comfort. Both my units worked perfectly for about 8 years. When the furnace would stop, but blower would run in the winter, my Trane repairman blamed the control board and the blower motor which were quite costly. The second service expert found it was the limit sensor, and suggested the control board that I said I had it replaced. Three winters of blowing air with no heat unpredictably the third repair guy, replaced the temperature limit and suggested my under floor vents were the issue. It comes down to that my Trane Furnace XE-90 only works properly when the weather is mild and heat isnt really needed. Advice to Trane furnace owners to look up the control panel light flash indicators meaning, it can tell you how many flashes you see represent the problem supposedly. Additionally watching the Trane tech, there is a way to have the front panels off while the unit works (Be safe about electricity at this point.) There is a trigger button on the top left that can be taped down with electrical tape. I cant afford to have repairmen around, or replace it all. The A/C went too, still working on that one.

My first Trane unit lasted a little over 10 years but bought a new one back in 2017 which has been a constant drain on my wallet. The furnace part seems to be OK but the AC part is worthless. Even though its still under warranty (parts only) am not sure if I am going to get it fixed. Installed a couple of window unit last year when it was broke down and am think about just using the very cheap window units all summer. Folks save your money and stay away from Trane.

The unit originally cost $4,500 and the installer BURGESS AIR CONDITIONING LOCATED IN CLEARWATER FLORIDA does not offer financing. Two years and one month later, we required service and the replacement of the coil which cost us $891. Time to repair unit by obtaining the coil took over 2 weeks. 90+ degree temperature over this period. The part was NOT EXPEDITED for delivery for our unit. Burgess or Trane would not take any action. I had a unit installed 4 1/2 years ago. I paid over 7k for the unit installed. Since that time I have required someone coming out at least every 6 months for a new issue. Each time having extra cost and fees associated. Last month 500 bucks for an issue, this month a coil needs replaced. Although the cost of the coil itself is covered by Tranes warrenty, the cost is still almost 1300 in charges for labor and coolant replacement. I would never purchase another Trane. Be sure and negotiate a warrenty which includes all associated labor and service charges in a purchase of an a/c when getting one and dont get a Trane.

We purchased three high efficiency Trane heat pumps for our residence which we occupied on January 2, 2008. All three heat pumps failed in early March 2012. We had to replace all the evaporator coils which had completely rusted. Trane refused to acknowledge that this was a latent defect or to offer any remuneration for installation of these three new coils which cost $1800.00. Several other neighbors experienced the same problem on their Trane units which were also high efficiency and installed within three months of my purchase of these units. The parts warranty expires in January 2013. I had asked for an extended warranty which they declined to give me.

We installed an XL15 system in our home - heat pump, air handler, etc. near the end of 2011. 6 mos. after it was installed the fan motor on the air handler died. It took a week to obtain the replacement. Now, in May of 2019 were dealing with the need for other parts for the air handler - a circuit board, valve, EVAP sensor and another sensor. Parts take much too long to be obtained. They say 3-5 business days, but were already past 4 days and I dont expect to see them within 5. So, buyer beware that unless the part(s) you need are readily and locally available, you could have a problem. The risk is high and when we replace this system it will NOT be with a Trane system.

In September 2009, I had an XL 15 Trane Heat Pump and air handler installed in my new home. In June of 2012, it was diagnosed with a leaking evaporator coil. The new coil was ordered and it was installed on June 19, 2012. I was presented a bill by the service tech for $960. The evaporator coil was under warranty, but I had to pay the shipping of $100 for the new coil and the return shipping of $100 for the old coil. I called the Trane representative for this area and he stated that he had no knowledge of any problem with their evaporator coils. Basically he said that it was too bad and offered no help at all. I would never recommend any Trane product. They have a poor quality product and an even worse customer service department. If there is a class action suit, I wish to be included.

I purchased a 3 ton 15 seer air conditioner from Climate Control in Liberty, MO. The first time it broke down at about one year after installation, Climate Control would not fix it without my signing a long term maintenance agreement, and they were rude and nasty upon my visit. The second time it broke down at 30 months old, I called Trane directly and had horrible customer service. The CSR kept trying to get me to call one of her preselected service providers and sign up for a long term maintenance agreement. The warranty DOES NOT require a maintenance agreement, and all they want to do is sell you more stuff. The A/C unit is a bad unit. Trane needed to simply stand behind their product. $4,800 was my cost.

My wife and I purchased a 2500 sf. home in 2011 that was equipped with 2 Trane HVAC systems. The home was designed to operate with 2 systems to provide adequate airflow for both 1st & 2nd floors and to eliminate the excessive wear & tear of only relying on 1 unit to do the job. To this point, I have never owned a home that was equipped with a Trane product, but have always heard great things. We actually thought we were getting a little Peace of Mind because of the feedback weve heard about the Trane brand, but Peace of Mind was the last thing we received. Our opinion about Trane products took a turn for the worst last week when I noticed that the AC system sounded slightly louder than usual. My first instinct was to check the vents for airflow, which there was no cold ac coming out. When I checked the main HVAC unit, I noticed the lines were frozen (usually means low Freon or better yet, a Freon leak). At this point I called a reputable AC company to come out, fix the leak and recharge the system. When the technician arrived he began troubleshooting the system and discovered there was severely more problems with the unit than originally expected. When the technician opened the unit he noticed that there was excessive corrosion to the internal parts, which also needed to be repaired. After a full survey of my ac system the technician told me that I have 2 choices: Option 1, repair the defective internal parts which was quoted at $2,600.00 or Option 2 Replace the entire AC system for about $6,000.00. I called Trane to inquire about any warranty offering and the lady kindly informed me that my unit was not covered.Im not a detractor of the Trane brand because of the quoted cost of repair, I am completely aware of the Cost of Ownership and maintenance cost. Im a detractor of the brand because the product performance/life expectancy does not meet the companys product message. There is a certain level of expectations that consumers have when they spend their additional money for a premium product. Being a first time Trane owner and having had my first experience working with Tranes customer service, I can honestly say I have ZERO interest in ever owning another Trane. I will try to load pictures of my A/C system to accurately reflect its condition. Externally, the system looks brand new. Internally, well, that is a different story.

Coil Leaking, HVAC person tells us ALL HVAC UNITS are bad now. I hope the title says it all. I purchased a high-end TRANE for roughly $8000 a little over 4 years ago and while still under warranty the coil has been leaking and I ran out of Freon. To fill the unit up to get through the summer I spent about $700 for the coolant. The warranty doesnt cover labor, so even if I order a new coil under warranty, it will cost a fortune to install it, with no guarantee it will perform any better. My HVAC person said theres roughly 350,000 units with bad coils right now. Is there an agency I can call, like an insurance commissioner in our state? I know theres such a thing as a Lemon Law with respect to cars. Can there be a class action suit brought against these companies?

We replaced our aging Goodman (18+ years) air conditioner with a new Trane
We replaced our aging Goodman (18+ years) air conditioner with a new Trane XR17 5 ton unit; in the process also changing the condenser, coils & furnace with Trane units. Our old unit was beginning to show its age with frequent breakdowns (but no compressor failure yet) so we decided to go with a installer recommended system. The units were installed by AC Advance of Houston, on February 3rd, 2018 - during winter. Total bill $8400. With the coming of summer in Houston, the air conditioner was switched on - and the ac compressor failed after just 1 week of usage, on 1st April 2018! Not quite what would be expected from a premium brand like Trane.Right now we are stuck in a limbo. I have requested that the ac be replaced by a new unit - since I consider that the unit was new enough when it failed that I should get a new one. The installer is willing to pick it up and install for free - if we can get one. The local distributor for Trane - Hunton Distribution - has shrugged it off by saying that at best we can get a compressor replacement. I have reached out to Tranes warranty replacement - and they are doing due diligence and thorough review of our request. Meanwhile we are sweltering in the Houston heat and humidity while we wait for them to decide on our request. I will update once I hear back from Trane.

We installed 2 new air conditioner units the end of January 2015. We paid over $12,000 for the new units and installation. In a service inspection performed June 2016 it was found one of the coils in one of the units was leaking refrigerant. The cost to repair this was $1028.32. Per Trane/American Standard even though the units were only 18 months old they would not cover the repair under warranty. The company that serviced them said they have seen several of their new units fail the same way as ours. I would not recommend their product to anyone at this point. They dont stand by their products.

We have a unit that was installed in 2005 to cool one section of our home by the prior owners and since buying the home in 2012, the unit has been weak but never failed to cool, just took a long time. As the home is large and has a large 2 story foyer, we thought it was the physics of cooling a space that was too large for the HVAC alignment in the home. Well, finally it stopped cooling a couple of days ago and..... it needs a new valve and new coil. Valve is leaking oil and we cannot adequately gauge how much oil is left in the coil so that may have to be replaced as well and at less than 8 years of age, that is really ridiculous - 3200 on a unit that is less than 8 yrs old and cost 7500 new. Most cars are better than this! Of course, not covered by the sham of a warranty they offer (allegedly 10 years but really just 5 years on almost anything that costs money to repair), and their service line was a complete joke.We went with a local, and reputable, HVAC company and the tech we got to come out said he was shocked how quickly the unit failed. After reading all the reviews on here, I am not shocked at all - Trane makes junk products and does not back them up with adequate warranties. Bottom line - we will be purchasing a Lennox or other brand unit next time. Trane will not be getting any patronage from our home again. Fortunately for our neighbors, they heard our troubles and cancelled an order with Home Depot for 4 Trane units and bought another brand. They are thankful we shared this information with them. If I have it my way, our whole neighborhood will avoid Trane.

I have never experienced more issues with HVAC units in my life than with Trane. We purchased #2 4 ton H/P Condensers and V/S air handlers and 1 #2 ton condenser and a 2 ton air handler, all with media cabinets, retrofit to €existing electrical, freon lines and replaced as much ductwork as possible€. Paid over $37k in 7/2016. Since then, we have had mold from moisture leaks, condensers just €stop running€, now a €4 ton air handler€ has an evaporator coil refrigerant leak!!! What??? I was under the impression that Trane is known for aluminum coils and they last for YEARS!!! Why is this costing me $1500??? I just paid over $800 less than 3 months ago for ductwork and Armour Flex due to leaks. Is this a faulty install job or a thin coil that Trane needs to cover the labor costs and refrigerant? Ridiculous.

After much research, we choose an American Standard Heat Pump and Air Handler because of Consumer Report listing their product as top in reliability. Complete system was installed in January of 2016 by Speedy Air Conditioning of Port St Lucie, FL. Since that time, we have had three (3) evaporator coil failures and, last month, the compressor and condensing fan motor failed. This system has a complete failure in every aspect. We are requesting a complete new system, including heat pump and air handler, and were deeply disappointed when the request for a new heat pump, rather than a repair, was rejected. The dealers owner/manager, David Binder, has written that in almost 43 years of HVAC industry experience, I cannot recall ever replacing 3 evaporator coils and having also a condensing fan motor and compressor fail all within the first 4 and a half years of a system being installed, and hope this information will assist you in acquiring replacement equipment from the Manufacturer.

I have a TRANE HVAC heat pump system, that is still in warranty, equipped with a Digital Thermostat. The digital thermostat is the piece of equipment that I am having an issue with. When I contacted TRANEs technical service department, a technician led me through several troubleshooting procedures. The technical support person, Brandon, then advised me that the thermostat was defective and needed to be replaced. I asked him for the part number so that I could relay that information to my Trane servicing dealer. Brandon advised me that my thermostat was no longer being manufactured and there wasnt a compatible replacement. I asked him what I was supposed to do, and he intimated that I may end up having to replace my entire HVAC system because there isnt a replacement thermostat. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. I have placed several calls to 2 servicing Trane dealers in my area and the thermostat is indeed unavailable. I told the Trane Technical support person, that is like going out to start you car and discover the battery is dead, and a mechanic telling you that you that the battery cant be replaced and youll have to buy a new car. This borders on consumer fraud. I have a call in to the consumer affairs department, but Im not holding my breath waiting for a response.
