Purchased an American Standard (owned by Trane) HVAC in spring 2017. In spring 2018, the AC was not cold. Technician diagnosed the problem: leaking indoor coil. He replaced and recharged it, then told me that the $545 for labor/refrigerant was NOT covered under warranty - only parts are. When he sensed my outrage, he explained he was on my side and told me to call Trane Customer Service. I did - case #**. They explained the warranty to me (as if I needed that), and I made it clear that it IS A JOKE. How can a company stand by their product when they are asking consumers to incur cost for THEIR MISTAKES! When the supervisor realized I was not going to stop complaining (no yelling, no cursing), she asked if there was anything else she could help me with, to which I answered you have not helped me at all, and then she hung up on me as I began my next sentence... DO NOT BUY TRANE/AMERICAN STANDARD!!!

I purchased a new heat pump/ propane unit, to save on the anticipated high energy cost. Since, my bills have increased by nearly 40%! I used the National Weather Service Tables to try to make a fair check. SURE ENOUGH, this energy scam using the (more efficient units) is a scam.

We have 5 Trane HVAC units and they are 4-5 years old. They have been the source of consistent leaks stemming from coil problems. The Trane dealer who installed them points at Trane and says it is product quality problems. We lost confidence in the service from our installation Trane dealer and the new Trane dealer is much more honest and transparent to explain that these are manufacturing problems. This dealers service people say the coils had manufacturing quality problems so Trane changed the material used in the coils and will not acknowledge this problem or face up to the problem with their customers. I have $2,500 of repairs on these Trane units and some house repairs as well. I have written 2 lengthy letters (with all supporting repair bills to support the problems) in May 2012 and one just recently and received no response from Trane, except my wifes persistence reached a Trane employee by phone on the first letter and this employee said Trane would not do anything. I called their Customer Service # a week ago on our 2nd series of problems and waited for over 1 hour with no response and no follow up response from them even though their customer service # takes your information and says they will call back the same or next day. I emailed their Customer Service 3 days ago and no response to that. In short, Trane is a company with serious product quality problems, and per their lack of willingness to service their customers, doesnt value their customers. I would strongly recommend to anyone building a home or replacing your HVAC systems that you not consider Trane.

On May 23, 2016 I had a Trane 3 Ton, 16 SEER Condenser & Air Handler installed at my residence. This system uses R410a. On July 25, 2016 the units were no longer cooling, so I went outside to see what was happening. When I looked into the condenser unit I saw that the top of the compressor was cherry red so I disconnected power and called the installer. He came the next day and put some oil in the lines stating it must be a bad TXV valve. So I asked him to get a new one and he said that would not be necessary the oil did the job. It ran for the remainder of the summer. On Aug 15th 2017 the compressor started banging, going on and off, and water was coming out of the emergency drip pan PVC line. So again, I called the installer and he said given what I said happened he will order new parts; compressor and TXV. WELL it is 4 weeks now and still no parts. Call the 800 number you say? I did 5 times, I have a reference number. I know them by first name. Their answer; We understand you are upset. They cant get the parts, WILL NOT replace the units and will not give me my purchase price back. So whats a person to do? NEVER buy a TRANE - they continue to field defective units full well knowing they will break down in less than a year. And from I have read in this column, I am not that confident these replacement parts, should they ever arrive, are not going to be a permanent solution. It important to remember this system failed in less than 2 months of operation.

Im writing this review in regards to Trane air conditioning and heating unit that we purchased in 2015. Just after having unit for six months we had to replace the compressor unit outside. I continue to make calls to the installers of this unit regarding the air-conditioner not cooling. After coming to our house six different times to service the air-conditioner and installing Freon in the unit multiple times. We were told our air-conditioner now require new evaporator coils. The cost would be $995. I then decided to get another opinion of what was wrong with our air conditioner. Each person I had look at the unit had something different to tell me about what was wrong with it. I then decided to call the Trane manufacturer. They gave me a name of a Trane dealer teams. So I called them. They came out, told us that we needed to have the Expansion valve replaced. We did. That was $350, That didnt fix the unit so they had to do a complete unit inspection and have a trane support team tell them what was wrong with it. Now we need evaporator coils replaced. Now its another $950. This air-conditioner is less than two years old and weve had nothing but problems. Trane Will not stand behind their product. Do not buy a Trane.

We purchased a new Trane heat and air system for our home nearly a year ago. We wanted the best and top of the line so we wouldn€t have to worry about problems. Paid a high price for the package for our up and downstairs. Within 3-4 months we realized we had an odd smell coming from the vents and after several visits we find out both units had Dirty Socks syndrome (Yep that€s for real). After several visits and attempts to fix this bacteria growing on the coils, they had to replace coils on both units with epoxy coated coils. Thinking now after 6-9 months of problems we should be good, a week before our warranty was up the condenser for the upstairs unit went out and Trane wouldn€t replace the entire compressor unit, only the condenser, so our heating and air company, knowing all the problems, replaced the entire compressor unit at their expense! We would never buy another Trane and will never recommend them after this experience!!!

I had an old Goodman air conditioner that came with the house. I had it for 17 years and was still working. I upgraded to a Trane or at least I thought is as I was told that it was a good size for my home. The Trane broke 3 times in 3 weeks due to connection of the drain and I notice that this air doesn€t keep my room cold. I have to leave my door open and even like that it gets hot at certain times. My old one used to freeze me. I don€t recommend Trane. My nephew is looking for a new air and I mentioned to him what I have gone through and Trane is out for his home. I don€t recommend Trane. Thanks.

My nine year old XV90 Trane furnace leaks water and two different contractors concluded that the heat exchanger is cracked. Even though the heat exchanger has a lifetime warranty, it will not be honored by Trane because that piece for my model is discontinued. As a result, they will only offer a credit of $360 for that towards a new Trane furnace. For a piece that is the heart and soul of the machine, that amount of credit is simply laughable since it would cost a lot more than that if purchased out in the market. Therefore, this lifetime Trane warranty is simply misleading to say the least. For now there is no resolution other than me shopping for a new furnace and I will never buy a Trane product due to this fiasco of a lifetime warranty.

I bought a new indoor and outdoor Trane system in May 2013 (after saving for one year with no a/c or heat in the house) thinking that I made a good choice. I really believed their manipulative slogan NOTHING STOPS A TRANE which it needs to changed to TRANE NEVER STARTS, I am such a fool for believing that. Shortly after we had it installed we started having problems. So far we spent $1250 in repair on this Trane product. Tried to contact Trane to get reimbursed for some of this expense and they offered one time goodwill gesture of $85.12 and at the end saying hope you will trust our product in the future. I will never buy another Trane product. I have already stopped 2 people from buying a Trane product.

This Trane air cond 3 ton wasnt working the day my installer put it in the first year it was installed. Sept 2014 something with a valve and the wrong oil used in this units and Trane knew about this problem. Took over 6 weeks to repair. It was a nightmare. Even my installer didnt want to fix it. Took weeks for a part. They would not rush to help me, my wife and mother in law who had health issues. They were ** on the phone. Now I have a bigger problem with the heat system once again. ** cost me 700 dollars out of my pocket this time. This unit only 3 years old. 200 for shipping, 500 for labor and still waiting for part November 11, 2017. O-rings in the heat exchanger are burnt out like the space shuttle Challenger in 1984. This causes the furnace to run hot and will not lit so now youre in the cold. Check it out on youtube. If you want to be hot in the summer, cold in the winter with a big repair bill Take my advice. Do not even think of buy a Trane AC or heating or whatever else there. Wish I knew beforehand.

Put in new unit 2014. Took two weeks plus to make it run, never has run cold. In first year the compressor, evaporator coil, expansion valve, and circuit board replaced. Next year it stopped again. The tech. came out and fixed it again. Still not cold. 2016 broke again, evacuated Freon. Put in weighed charge. Replaced some parts and left, still not cold. 2017 stopped working. Original company quit working or selling Trane. Called four companies to fix it. All four said no longer will work on this system because of no Trane support plus Trane techs do not know XV20i heat pumps. NEVER BUY TRANE!!!

We are an HVAC contractor in California and have been in business for 40 years. In the last 3 years, we have seen more coil problems than in all the previous 37 years put together. Trane is not admitting to people that they have had a huge problem with quality control. Unfortunately, we are the middle-man on these issues and customers get upset when we have to charge money for our labor, refrigerant and welding materials to replace these coils. Trane gives nothing towards these costs. No wonder Americans are upset about so called American made products. We are tired of getting blamed for bad manufacturing. When you are a small business in America these days, you get squeezed between big government and big business. America, wake up and start spending money locally or this trend will continue and we will become an oligarchy, not a republic!

2.5 ton HVAC unit defective coil - Unit was installed on May 24, 2014. One month beyond unit installation guarantee on parts and labor the unit quit cooling. The unit originally cost $4,500 and the installer BURGESS AIR CONDITIONING LOCATED IN CLEARWATER FLORIDA does not offer financing. Two years and one month later, we required service and the replacement of the coil which cost us $891. Time to repair unit by obtaining the coil took over 2 weeks. 90+ degree temperature over this period. The part was NOT EXPEDITED for delivery for our unit. Burgess or Trane would not take any action. Would you believe that Trane offered $109 for our inconvenience. Burgess told us where we could buy a portable unit until ours was fixed.

Trane heat pump - I purchased this unit from Sears with Sears extended warranty. I dont have all the detailed paperwork at the moment. However, I had several repairs over the years and those were done satisfactorily through Sears. However, the last repair was the compressor. This was approx. one month prior to the warranty expiring. Unit was 10 years old. After struggling with Sears, the unit was finally repaired. However, now one year later, the compressor has now failed again. Since it is past my warranty, I am going to buy a new unit.I had to go pick up my parts - I missed l/2 day of work with no pay to do this. They would not come to my house on Fridays which is my day off. The first visit, there was no repair. The second time they were scheduled to come, they did not show up. And the parts did not show up since I had to meet a truck to pick up my parts. It took me like two months and several calls to Sears to get this repair. When the tech finally came to my house, he was late, lost and there was a thunderstorm in the area (afraid of the bad weather); therefore he did the repair in a haste. All in all, it was a very annoying experience and cost me lost time from work, etc. Im not sure if this complaint is against Sears or Trane, but they work in coordination so both companies are at fault.I have given up and will buy a new unit from more competent companies. In the meantime, I suffer in the heat again this summer just like last summer.

I purchased my home in 2010. The Trane AC was installed new in 2007. I have had issue after issue each and every year ironically at about the same time each year. I do not touch the unit. It is set for constant just about year round living in FL. First, it was a non-issue HVAC service call messed around with unit and said it was all under warranty - never got a real answer but the service call was $300. The second year it was the hi/low switch which cost me $300 in labor. Today, it is the blower again under warranty but labor costs are at $200. At this rate, I will have paid for this unit again before it should be time to replace it.

Installed a Residential Heat Pump during the build of new home Sept. 2008. We wanted a heat pump to get away from Oil & save money every year - so far not the case. NOTE: Filters were changed every 2 months regularly. Unit was fully serviced every fall. Dec. 2010 - went away for Christmas holiday - returned home to find exterior compressor in a 6 solid block of Ice. Service tech found a leak inside of the gases due to faulty valve. Jan. 23, 2013 - Fan blower motor gone! Part covered under Tranes 5 yr warranty - but not service labor to replace it. Jan. 16, 2015 - Fan Blower Motor GONE Again!! (was -27 cel. in N.S.). Ordered in a new one direct from Trane manufacturer, arrived, service tech found shaft was bent - so he rejected it. (I guess Trane doesnt do a QC check on parts when they build them or when they leave the facility). Had to Air frt. in a new motor once again. Jan. 22, 2015 $1200 later & Heat pump back working!!! Trane dealer installed a new Trane heat pump system in Summer 2016. I regret I did not read the reviews online. The system started having problems in winter 2018. Dealer checked it and said the heater in air handler was broken and needed replacement. Then defrost board and fan motor in heat pump were found broken. The condenser coil could also be leaking. I was shocked by all these major issues. Dealer just told me I was unlucky to get a bad system. I was asked to pay about $900 labor fee since only parts are under warranty. In addition, there could be other issues since testing could not be done without replacing the parts. So whole system is a junk. I complained to dealer manager, then to Trane customer service, then escalated to supervisor. I sent them all the documents they asked for, but never heard from them. Whenever I called them, I was transferred many times and held for one hour, but nothing was done. I emailed them many times, but no reply. People working at Trane just don€t care. Do not buy Trane products, because you will regret.

I have three 20i, 4 ton, dual fuel heat pumps on my home. The house is 5 years old. All three of these units have had major failures during the 5 year period. Failures include a heat exchangers, two leaking condensers, failed blower motor, failed gas valve, multiple failed circuit boards, failed thermostat, and a total air handler failure which resulted in the entire unit having to be replaced. Two of the failures resulted in the units being down for over a month before parts could be obtained. I have had multiple homes with many different brands of HVAC units. This is my first experience with Trane, and it will be my last. My house was custom built and is toured by many people for construction ideas. When asked if I would change anything, the only thing I advise people to do is stay from Trane HVAC units. When the warranty is up on these three units, I will very likely replace them all with another brand. Its obviously Hard To START A Trane.

When we built our house 8 years ago, the builder insisted on installing a TRANE unit with the suggestion that they were a very reputable company with a good product. In the 8 years weve had it, weve had 4 service calls on this unit, the last one was today and the tech informed me that the cheap copper tubing was rusted through and the condenser was damaged, total cost of repair will run me over $ 2600 to replace the air handler, the coil and filter drier. This is utterly inexcusable. Ive probably spent almost 1500 already on service calls and repairs on an 8 year old unit, pathetic.

Absolutely horrible product, customer service and shady warranties. We purchased a Trane HVAC system, XL90 furnace and a 2 ton AC unit in 2009. It is used a couple months out of the year at a lakefront house in Chicago and was installed 6 years ago. Warranty paperwork says 10 yr warranty. Trane says 5 yr. We are stuck with an inoperative system. It is now August and Trane Customer Service has yet to warranty their product. We are left without an AC unit again this summer - installer wants $4000 to replace a 5/6 year old unit. Trane wont cover compressor or condenser or other failed parts. There are better manufactured HVAC units out there. DONT BUY A TRANE. They do not warranty their products and there is a huge amount of built in obsolescence.

We built our house in 2010. Moved-in in Dec. 2010. In July of 2014 one of the Trane a/c units stopped working. The problem was apparently a bug crawled into a circuit box, fried itself and the part which was replaced by the a/c technician with a new circuit that was fully enclosed so it could not happen again. (Nice work on the design Trane). Sept 2014 another a/c stopped blowing cold air. The repair Technician said that the starter went bad so thats why the compressor was not working. So now another large bill to repair a 4 year old Trane a/c unit. $400 a few months ago and now $700 +. Not so happy with Trane right now. Of course none of the parts could be warranted. If youre looking for a dependable A/C, maybe you should bypass Trane.

This is the reason I chose Trane for my heating and cooling comfort. Both my units worked perfectly for about 8 years. When the furnace would stop, but blower would run in the winter, my Trane repairman blamed the control board and the blower motor which were quite costly. The second service expert found it was the limit sensor, and suggested the control board that I said I had it replaced. Three winters of blowing air with no heat unpredictably the third repair guy, replaced the temperature limit and suggested my under floor vents were the issue. It comes down to that my Trane Furnace XE-90 only works properly when the weather is mild and heat isnt really needed. Advice to Trane furnace owners to look up the control panel light flash indicators meaning, it can tell you how many flashes you see represent the problem supposedly. Additionally watching the Trane tech, there is a way to have the front panels off while the unit works (Be safe about electricity at this point.) There is a trigger button on the top left that can be taped down with electrical tape. I cant afford to have repairmen around, or replace it all. The A/C went too, still working on that one.

My rating is for the heating and air conditioning company whom we purchased the equipment from and contact when repairs need to be made. We have 2 units. The first unit was purchased over 30 year ago and has not needed maintenance at all. The second unit was purchased five years ago and has needed to be repaired.... small repairs, nothing major, and we have been satisfied completely with both units.

I bought a brand new heat pump system from Trane. The Certified Contractor who installed the unit was excellent, I have no issues with them. My brand new unit lasted less than 3 years at the beach. Please allow me to repeat less than 3 years, and Trane refused to stand behind their product. The unit actually rusted completely through in less than 3 years. I would highly suggest you never buy from Trane because they do not stand behind their own product. Do yourself a favor and skip all the headaches, DO NOT BUY A TRANE PRODUCT. I NEVER WILL AGAIN!

Trane unit cost $4,000 and is continuously breaking down. I bought this Trane home AC system 3 years ago. It stopped working last summer because the oil in the compressor was incorrect from the manufacturer based on the HVAC repair company I bought the unit from. They changed it out and it has worked this season until now. Out of nowhere the unit has frozen up and shut down. My last system was a Comfortmaker and lasted 28 years without any major breakdowns. Can someone tell me exactly what the problem is with TRANE equipment???

Our unit isnt 2 years old yet and the coil is leaking. They have no idea when the warranty part will be in. We paid $554 to have them come out, they tried to fix it to hold it over until the parts came in but it lasted 24 hours. Now we have to pay for a part that isnt covered under the warranty. The slogan Nothing stops a Trane is true. A Trane stops a Trane HVAC. Very dissatisfied. We went with Trane thinking it would last longer and have no problems.

Bought a new Trane a/c and had it installed by a local installer. Less than 6 months in the unit ran out of gas and required a new coil. The lack of gas meant the condenser unit was overworked. I had the installer out 3 times before it was running again. I contacted Tranes customer service to request a new condenser as in my opinion the one I have is faulty. I cannot get a response from Trane other than it has been forwarded to our escalation department. I have written to Tranes holding company Ingersoll Rand but they have not responded either. Their ad Nothing stops a Trane rubbish. This one did and their customer service is just as bad.

I am a HVAC contractor having installed Trane and American standard units for many years. So 3.5 years ago (this was the year they switched over from R-22 to R410A refrigerant... R410A is a much higher pressure refrigerant!) we installed a new Trane 2 circuit 10 ton condenser and air handler to cool a server room located in a 4 story building. After 13 months of operation the unit sprung a leak.. Trane said 1 year warranty was over so we repaired the leak, no charge to the customer. 2 years later another leak in a different brazing joint. 3 years later two more leaks on separate circuits and again on different brazing joints.. 3.5 years another leak... Finally customer had enough of their servers shutting down in emergency mode causing damage and customer loss.. We lost complete trust in the ability of this unit to hold a refrigerant charge. I stepped in again and installed a complete new condensing unit, crane rental, spot cooler rentals and all.... Thousands of dollars later I demanded Trane reimburse the cost of the new condenser and I would handle all other cost and rentals, they declined! The 10 ton Lemon is stored in the back of my shop at the moment (in case I need it for proof). Needless to say I have ended all sales of Trane and American Standard.

Barely more than 5 yrs ago, I had a gas-fired furnace model TUH2D120A9V5VA installed by a reputable HVAC dealer. Last week during 19 F weather, the blower motor quit costing me $1600 in repairs. I wish I had seen all the complaints on the internet before purchasing my furnace and A/C units. Trane obviously has a Quality problem for which their warranties are inadequate. I will not be purchasing another Trane product and I will make sure that my neighbors (neighborhood & internet) are made aware of Tranes numerous bad reviews. They are obviously more interested in their bottom line than in their products.

Custom built my home in 2008 and had 3 Trane heat pumps installed. Within 3 years 2 evaporator coils leaked. Trane replaced parts but not labor or Freon. One year later one of the same coils started leaking and needed to be replaced. Trane refused to supply parts but agreed to a cash settlement. Two months ago the other unit€s evaporator coil started leaking plus the coil that was previously leaking and replaced started leaking again.Trane refused to honor anything at first but after much pursuing on my part agreed to a one-time cash payment of $1200. I decided to spend $ to replace the entire two air handlers rather than just the evap coil. Since there was no conditions in the Trane $1200 offer I replaced the handlers with a different manufacturer. Trane refused to supply the parts. Now they rescinded their $1200 because I replaced everything not just the coil. Makes no sense to me.

Of course with commercial they only give a one year warranty, the units constantly back up with water. I thought I was buying the best, I have had 2 for their online thermostats go out at 500 a pop. Had new Trane XL20i Heat Pump installed 10/20/2010. July 2014 Air Handle evaporator leaked, repaired. Then Condenser became erratic, low-pressure issues, numerous service calls, more parts replaced. Left for summer to NJ from FL, came back, low-speed compressor fried. Trane will not assist. Installer is a good company, and Trane simply tells us what we need to hear.First they tell you the service company need to contact distributor then service company tells you that not the way it works. Mentioned to Trane representative Alex, that the inconsistencies between service company understanding and Tranes position leaves me with no options. Want condenser system replaced and mention consumer affairs massive number of reviews complaining and they will no longer talk to you. It is time someone take the lead and file a class action lawsuit as there is a pattern here. I will purchase alternative equipment in the future. Nice going Trane!

I built my house and had an XL16i installed in 2005. Within 6 months there was a recall and the installer came out and swapped out both the exchanger and the compressor (virtually changed everything out except the copper and control lines). Since that time the high and low compressors have been replaced (at different times) three times up until the 10 year compressor warranty period expired. Since there is no coverage for freon or labor, I ate the costs every time and could probably have saved a reasonable amount toward the purchase of a reputable and reliable unit by now. So... two months (2016) out of the 10 year warranty the low-level compressor has once again failed. My service company was kind enough to wire past the defective compressor and now the unit is running on the high level compressor only. It is simply a matter of time before the remaining stage fails. I spoke at length with the Service Techs and both stated this has been a known, ongoing issue with this unit (in the HVAC community they replace these compressors on a regular basis!) and Trane simply ignores its existence... They (Trane) have a stockpile of compressors known to fail, a system (i.e. XL16i) with these ongoing, inherent problems which they refuse to address, and customers are simply stuck with their lemons! Where is a Class-action lawyer when you need them?

OK... purchased new Trane HVAC with CleanEffects Air Cleaner in November 2011. In July 2012, returned from vacation to find that fan had quit working. Fixed in 2 days. In July 2014, the CleanEffects quit working - diagnosed as a bad door which contains the electronics. Waited 2 weeks for part. Called installer who said the Trane was having a problem supplying the part as they had changed to a new company to manufacture the units and parts for the CleanEffects. Installer said that he was trying to get local distributor to provide the door from a unit in stock but to date that has not been accomplished.I sent email to Trane and received response stating that they hoped to have backlog of parts orders caught up by mid-August 2014. My concern and disappointment with Trane stems from the fact that the company and its distributors appear quite ready to sell CleanEffects units on hand knowing full well they cannot support the product and are at the same time ignoring needs of current owners of the units. Trane seems to have a problem maintaining parts inventories for their products. I would certainly advise anyone to steer clear of buying the CleanEffects air cleaner as Im not convinced that it does much of anything when it does work.

When I bought my house it still had the original Trane unit and it lasted 10 more years. That means it lasted 25 years. Naturally I thought I could trust them again for a quality product. I got the xr13 heat pump and hyperion air handler. From the beginning the air handler has been blowing massive amount of air out. The installer tried to get Trane to help but they said it was normal. It felt like an air blower coming out of the unit. That is not normal. The installer said lots of customers had similar complaints about that product. Now my fan on the condenser wont work after only 8 months. Trane doesnt stand by their product anymore and they make junk. Do yourself a favor and buy anything else.

Theyve changed motors, adjusted parts and used their diagnostics tools and this is the installers. Now have to wait for the big experts from Trane. We purchased three high efficiency Trane heat pumps for our residence which we occupied on January 2, 2008. All three heat pumps failed in early March 2012. We had to replace all the evaporator coils which had completely rusted. Trane refused to acknowledge that this was a latent defect or to offer any remuneration for installation of these three new coils which cost $1800.00. Several other neighbors experienced the same problem on their Trane units which were also high efficiency and installed within three months of my purchase of these units. The parts warranty expires in January 2013. I had asked for an extended warranty which they declined to give me.

In April of 2017 we bought a new Trane heat pump. In early December of 2017 we found out the reversing valve was defective and that was why we had no heat. We asked Trane to replace the unit because we felt it was defective from the factory and they refused. They covered the cost of the part but we had to pay $860 in service charges to have it installed. In June of 2018 we spent another $220 having a fan capacitor replaced. We contacted Trane Consumer Relations and this time they offered to cover part of the labor charges with the condition that that would not be liable for any future charges arising from defects. We knew the equipment had a history of problems and turned down their offer. Now in May of 2020 we are looking at another $800 in service charges to replace a defective and leaking cooling coil. Trane Consumer Relations has refused to help in any way. They told us to go through the service company we are using and have them go to the local distributor. In addition to refusing to do anything to help the supervisor in Consumer Relations was evasive when asked simple questions and refused to answer some questions.

No he tenido ningún problema con él.

Im compelled to write my review about my experience with Trane and their authorized dealer YEAKLES HVAC out of Hagerstown, MD. First Yeakles completed the installation of a dual fuel (supposed) 16 seer heat pump and A|C system. Immediately I had concerns. The system just wouldnt heat my house in heat pump mode. As questioned the dealer he had argued everything is correct. Just give it time it will work. Anyway as I wait for this system to work. In January I call because again no heat in heat pump mode. He had sent a tech in. His own tech had told me my system is wrong. That his boss had installed a 5tn blower under a 4tn coil. Making it that the 5tn of air across the coil is cooling the system down not allowing it to heat up correctly. So I called Trane, file a complaint. The representative showed me documents that my system is not correct. His data showed that my 16 seer system is rated at a 14.5 seer. So you would think they would make their authorized dealer fix it right? WRONG! On March 1 Yeakles had called me confessing he had in fact installed the incorrect stuff. Great right. No, because within 5 short days Yeakles mind has changed. Even though there is documented proof. He had messed up. Yeakles is now refusing to fix it. What! Oh yeah and Trane has told me they have done all they could do. What! I thought Yeakles was your authorized dealer? Make him fix it! To my point, maybe you cant trust a Trane dealer.

In 2001, we built our house and went with top of the line Trane heat pumps, two of them. In 2004, hurricane Ivan came in and took our house. In 2005, we rebuilt and had the same units installed, Trane heat pumps with the UV filter system 14xl. Well in 2007, the 3.5-ton unit went out. We called the company that installed both units, Mooneyham Heating and Air in Milton, FL. They came out and told us the coil was no good and needed to be replaced. It would cost us $1,500. We told them it is under warranty. They said, €Let us check on that and we will get back to you.€ Well, several days go by and no call back, so I called them and they said, €Sorry for not getting back to you but we have been really slammed.€ I told them, €Well, I would like to have A/C again.€ It is 90 + outside. They told me that Trane would only cover the coil under warranty and we would have to pay the labor. I said, €Can I have their phone number?€ So I called Trane in South Florida. After two days of the dog chasing its tail, they got back to me and told me over a 3-way call with Trane and Mooneyham that Trane would be paying parts and labor to Mooneyham. I said, €Great, when can I have my A/C back?€ Well, that€s another issue. The coils are on backorder. I said, €What? It could take up to three weeks to get you one sent in the mail.€ I told them that is not going to work, so I called our local district and they have one on the shelf, 6 miles from me. So I called Trane back and told them there is one on the shelf at this place, call them and I will go and pick it up for Mooneyham. €We can€t do that, sir. It has to come from us.€ I know the system is out again and they will not fix under the warranty agreement and the other unit just went out for the same thing. So I have two units not working and no A/C in 90+ weather. I guess their slogan is incorrect - Its hard to stop a Trane. Well, everything I have seen on this form and other Trane units are junk and overpriced. It was our first and last and I will be turning this over to our lawyer.

All dates are estimated. Back in 2009, we had Vailes install a new Trane Heat Pump (outside unit and Air-handler in attic) along with all new flex duct work. After a full summer of running the unit - the dirty-sock syndrome smell came about in our upstairs. We called Vailes and they brought their Trane Rep, Ken **, out to investigate. He tweaked some of the duct work and airflow (speeds) on the air handler and also coated the coils so that it would not make that smell. He also redesigned the ramp so that water would not flow over the ramp...Everything seemed okay - until we had a Mold specialist check out our entire house. He found Mold in the Trane air handler and in the duct work. He found no other issues with the house. We contacted Vailes and shared the Mold report with them. They came out and looked and took pictures to share with their Trane Rep (Ken ** out of Richmond). They came back with a solution of cleaning out the air handler for estimated $500.00 and installing a UV light for another $1,000.00. I replied back with the following request to Vailes: Our game plan is to counter with: to have a Trane Rep come out and look at the situation. Possible solutions: Air flow is set incorrectly (after talking with other large heating and cooling companies). Another red flag: Having 3-4 degree variances in rooms upstairs. Some rooms have an extreme blast of air flow (especially in the winter). Our home was inspected by a professional environmental technician and the house is clean. The only issue is the air-handler in the attic. After discussing this situation further with my wife, father, Riddlebarger, and Landis Heating, they all suggested that Trane should come out and redo/check the air flow. They also think it could be a potential trunk issue as well. I was going to have my wife run with this but I dont want to add anything else to her plate. Will you please contact Trane again with our circumstance? We need to fix the issue and I would like for Trane to be there.Vailes shared this request with Ken ** (Trane Rep in Richmond) and Ken replied back to me with the following: The mold that is growing in the home is a product of the environment that the equipment is in. The Trane (or any other brand equipment) does not produce the bacteria; it already exists in the structure. The effort that needs to be put in is to address the source of bacteria whether it is infiltrating form the crawlspace, attic, basement, windows, fireplace, sewer system, or from the people that live in the house. The bacteria growing in the AHU is happening because it is a nice environment for it to grow (warm and moist) depending on the season but it is not the source. There is nothing that Trane can do to address the structure or the infiltration to the home. Vailes has made some suggestions about accessories that can be added to a system to help manage the bacteria (UV lights, and electronic air filters); these may help reduce the potential for growth in the unit but the bacteria will still be in the home.I was not satisfied with his response so I brought in several other HVAC dealers to analyze the situation. They have all pointed to the duct work and airflow. I could get another HVAC dealer to redo all the duct work but that puts me in a major financial crisis. I feel like they (Vailes and the Trane Rep) should have looked at the situation closer. Obviously, they knew something was wrong from the start when they coated the coils and redid the airflow and ramp shortly after it was installed. I feel like the coated coils only masked the issue. For some reason, we are getting mold in the air handler. Any suggestions? One particular HVAC dealer said that he firmly thinks it is the duct work - because the duct work going to the returns are the biggest he has ever seen on a ton 1/2 unit. He also said there is no trunk line (all lines are coming straight out of the small boxes on the air handler...). Hearing from 4 other HVAC dealer that they think it is the duct work - tells me something. I am meeting with two other HVAC dealers this week as well to see what they think. But it is very disappointing having to go to other dealers to fix this problem. We turned the unit off once the mold was found (back in April). I have a wife and 4 children and need to place some urgency on this.

Trane dealers refuse to offer us an extended warranty on our equipment, but from what I just read on the Trane website, Renewal is at the sole option of Trane Standard Warranty Company. So, which is it? Why are we getting the run around? Apparently, you can pick and choose whomever you want to offer warranties to? Why not just be honest on the Trane website and save the consumer a lot of grief? Dorothy ** with Customer Service was nothing but extremely rude to my husband today (10/01/14) as all we are trying to do is get an extended warranty for our furnace and air conditioning unit and we have received nothing but grief. We were told authorized dealers apparently can choose whether or not to offer extended warranties, so we are between a rock and hard place as dealers that are close enough to service us - will not offer us an extended warranty - aka no one will take our money and now I realize its actually up to Trane - weve been lied to. Do you actually even extend warranties? Trane says that there is nothing they can do so I guess after 5 years - we are on our own - even if we want to pay for an extended warranty? Apparently, Trane cares nothing about their reputation or the customer b/c these sites are currently FULL of complaints. My husband and I have been working to get this accomplished for months now (expires 10/04/14). According to the Trane website, the independent Trane dealer is committed to the best customer satisfaction - I assume your home office is as well. This cannot be farther from the truth as no one is willing to assist us. In addition, my husband and I have to take very valuable time out of our days to deal with this - which bewilders us both considering you are committed to the best customer satisfaction and all. Just like they say... Nothing runs from a customer like a Trane...

I bought this house that had two XR14 4-1/2 ton Trane Split heat pumps that were installed in 2010. The first major issue was April 2017. The coil in the air handler corroded from dissimilar metal corrosion. $3000 later for a Trane Parent American Standard Air Handler. July 2017 same thing happened. The repair guy put in $400 worth of super seal to get us through so they would not have to replace the other air handler in the attic. Nov 2017 it died. $6500 for an American Standard split Heat pump replacement. Jan 2018 the original Trane Condensing unit GE ECM condensing fan motor failed is been warm so researching why Trane would use a variable speed motor in an application where the whole unit is a single speed and the condensing fan runs at single speed. The main difference (Wholesale $600) vs a $150 + $10 capacitor connected to your T1 & T2 terminals. My AC guy said that the wont get a computer code when the fan fails again. Im like DUHHHH! The compressor was running and the fan stopped. Thats how I know it failed. Why would I need a computer to tell me the P.O.S. TRANE unit has failed. I am not expecting much better out of the American Standard. I am sure they are all made in the same place with different labels slapped on them. I know some of the cheaper brands do the same thing from a rental property where my 12 SEER unit ran for over 20 years. Doesnt Take much to stop a Trane but it sure takes an act of God to get the parts for them.

Trane XR15. Terrible Unit. My unit was installed in August of 2018 - biggest mistake I have ever made with a capital purchase. I bought the filtration system for $1500 and that has never worked. I had to buy 6 house air cleaners. I tried to return the unit after 1 year because it had NO dust whatsoever on it but they refused. The heating works just fine. The a/c is a constant nightmare. It just never cools except at night when the temperature goes down. I am out $10,000 and I am going to have to replace this unit because it is absolute junk. I keep having repair come out who find nothing wrong with the unit. So they have disconnected the $1500 air filtration system to see if this will help with cooling the air. I think I am going to call a couple of attorneys and see if they can help me to get a new unit ---- not from Trane but make Trane pay.

Bought new furnace and quit working after 2 months - pipes froze due to 20 degrees cold. Igniter rod bad and technician replaced with new $15 different rod and works fine since. Tech said they had 2-3 other new Trane furnaces with same problem - Trane should have done a recall! Had $3000 in damage and Trane would not cover it!

My HVAC service man has just left after sharing the good news that yet another expensive fix is in store for me because of my Trane. My system was installed 5 years and 6 months ago, and wouldnt you know it, my leaking evaporator coil is toast and the warranty is... well yes... 5 years. This another in a long list of failures, repairs, bad contactor, bad capacitor, blown fuses, indoor unit fan not assembled correctly from the factory with evidence that the set screw was screwed down on the round instead of the flat of the shaft (that was a nice sound in the middle of the night btw), coolant added several times during the last 3 years until today finally discovering a huge leak in the evap coil. I guess it finally made its way from a slow leak to a deluge. Last fill lasted 24 hours. This is ridiculous. Stay away from Trane, please!

I€m a master HVAC tech. I installed 2 Trane xl16 heat pumps in my in-law€s house in 2006. So far both inside coils blew out in the first two years and one of the replacement coils that was suppose to be of better construction just blew out in the same place the last one did. Although I can get the parts under warranty, I€m out $250 worth of 410a Freon, not to mention the time and aggravation. All I can say is what happened to Trane and where did their quality go? Obviously profit outweighs making a good product. It has gone downhill so bad that companies in my area that have sold them for decades quit selling them, including me.

I purchased a new Trane system XL16i May 2015. This May (2016) the unit was not working properly. The company that installed it first said it was the reversing valve that was not operating properly so they had to install another one. Then it still was not working properly and they said it was the compressor now that had to be placed. We have been w/o a/c for over a week now. The installer ordered the compressor from Trane and it will take 5 days to get here another weekend w/o air. I called Trane and was informed that 5 days is their standard shipping. If it was longer they could expedite. I guess you can stop a Trane!!! Terrible customer service from the manufacturer and a 1 year old unit that had two major parts fail within a year!!!

New home built in 2007 new Trane furnace installed. Wrong from install, not
New home built in 2007 new Trane furnace installed. Wrong from install, noted by the service technician during a routine maintenance check and trying to fix a water leak coming from side of furnace. Charged me $187.95 and still that night the water leak continued. The next day 3 other techs came and tried to diagnose the problem. A roll of duct tape and lots of PVC piping later, the leak finally stopped after making my new furnace look laughable. Now we have rust issues caused from the water leak causing parts and switches to degrade and corrode. Needing a $20 part replaced the same reputable Trane dealer would like to charge $278 plus tax for something their bad install job caused to go out. After explaining that I feel the part was damaged because of the water leak that developed from a bad install and should be replaced at no charge, they told me I should just buy the part and replace myself. I said Im not going to do that and they told me they are wiping their hands clean of me and walking away from my situation. I tried to call Trane and they hung up on me. I tried sending email and they tell me theyre free to charge whatever theyd like to charge me as they are independent dealer. They do not want to understand that these problems are because of either a bad product or simply the bad install the tech admitted to. I will never own another Trane product during my lifetime. Horrible customer service and worse product. You can see from my photos the install job they did to my Trane furnace and the rust that has developed. And yet still no one from Trane or the installer would like to take blame.

4 years ago the Trane condenser burned out. The air handler was also replaced with similar units. They too burned out after one week. A third unit was installed and I was told they were units made in China...so now after 3 new units failing they installed a Rheem unit for the air handler and a Trane for the condenser. The condenser just burned out again, and I am told the same thing. Made in China...or Mexico?? Anyhow that is 4 units in 4 years...and my system is clean and all new.

Now the unit is 8 yrs old and I am told that both the AC coil and the inside attic coil is leaking. Repairs will cost as much as installing a complete system, according to Smiths AC company. Im now shopping for a more reliable brand. Hopefully with American made parts.

My Trane HVAC system was 17 years old and stilling working fine. I thought I had better replace it, because of its age and summer quickly approaching. I just had my unit replaced yesterday and I am very happy and satisfied with my choice. I received great service from my old unit, 9 hurricanes, many severe storms and never once has my Trane failed to function and operate flawlessly. If anyone asks I always recommend a Trane. I believe researching the installer is more important than the Trane manufacturer. If it's installed correctly, it'll run trouble free and give you many, many years of carefree service. Always hire someone that knows what they're doing.

We have a unit that was installed in 2005 to cool one section of our home by the prior owners and since buying the home in 2012, the unit has been weak but never failed to cool, just took a long time. As the home is large and has a large 2 story foyer, we thought it was the physics of cooling a space that was too large for the HVAC alignment in the home. Well, finally it stopped cooling a couple of days ago and..... it needs a new valve and new coil. Valve is leaking oil and we cannot adequately gauge how much oil is left in the coil so that may have to be replaced as well and at less than 8 years of age, that is really ridiculous - 3200 on a unit that is less than 8 yrs old and cost 7500 new. Most cars are better than this! Of course, not covered by the sham of a warranty they offer (allegedly 10 years but really just 5 years on almost anything that costs money to repair), and their service line was a complete joke.We went with a local, and reputable, HVAC company and the tech we got to come out said he was shocked how quickly the unit failed. After reading all the reviews on here, I am not shocked at all - Trane makes junk products and does not back them up with adequate warranties. Bottom line - we will be purchasing a Lennox or other brand unit next time. Trane will not be getting any patronage from our home again. Fortunately for our neighbors, they heard our troubles and cancelled an order with Home Depot for 4 Trane units and bought another brand. They are thankful we shared this information with them. If I have it my way, our whole neighborhood will avoid Trane.

Purchased a home with a Trane XV90 furnace, furnace is 7 years old and out of warranty, product failed at 6 years, after the tech spent hours on the phone with Trane tech support he figured out the furnace needed a new main circuit board to the tune of $1200. We had the furnace repaired, everything was fine for 14 months, went to turn on the heat this year to find out no warm air, called the furnace guy to come out and he explained the main board had failed again. This was after spending 2 more hours on the phone with Trane tech support, we called Trane corporate only to find out the replacement board is only warranted for 12 months, and Trane tried to claim they dont warranty replacement parts, the 12 month warranty is from the dealer. So, to cut an already long story short we now have to shell out another 1200 dollars to repair it again. I called Trane customer support and explained my situation, got a nice email response that said SORRY, GOOD LUCK. It would have been far easier for Trane to do the right thing and either replace the clearly defective part or at a minimum offer a prorated reimbursement, but no they dont care! Do yourself a favor, dont buy a Trane furnace, they dont stand behind their products and if anything goes wrong the replacement parts only have a 12 month warranty from the dealer, Trane tried to argue with me that they dont warranty replacement parts. HIDING BEHIND THEIR DEALERS. So much to Cant stop a Trane. Guess what? You can, and they dont care...

Los sistemas que estaban aquí cuando compré la casa necesitaron mucho cuidado durante varios años, aunque sólo tenían dos años cuando compré la propiedad. I have a critical room that is served by 8 Trane Voyager units at this building for the purpose of keeping critical equipment cool (millions of dollars worth of stuff). In the 2 and 1/2 years since the installation, 5 of the units€ exhaust fan motors have gone bad. The economizer damper actuators have broken on 4 of them. Two condenser coils have leaked and needed replacement on the units. 3 condenser fans have had to be replaced. The pulleys on 3 of the supply fans have had to be replaced because they are made out of plastic garbage. Every month or two, I have to get one of these units repaired. It is a never ending cycle of having to replace parts and rent a crane sometimes for heavy parts like coils and compressors. Do not buy Trane! I am now looking to replace this equipment because the critical equipment cannot be sustained properly due to all these repairs.

In 2017, I moved into a brand new home equipped with a Trane HVAC unit. Approximately 30 months later, the air conditioner failed. I was told that the condensing unit, a major part that normally lasts for ten years or more, was defective; that although the part itself was under warranty, the installation labor and coolant replacement were not and that a repair would cost close to $2,000. I was also informed that Trane and their dealers knew they had a problem with their condensers beginning in 2014 but continued to sell them and, as far as I know, based upon the experiences of others, still do. When the problem first occurred, Trane reimbursed the customers affected but eventually stopped the practice when it became apparent that there were so many claims.Like many of the reviewers, I was given the runaround by Trane customer service. Each time I called, I was asked to repeat all the information I had already provided as though the call was my first. I was assured over and over again that my case was under review but it was never resolved. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that it was not possible. In short, my experience with Trane customer service was probably the worst experience I have ever had with any company. There are many HVAC brands worthy of consideration. Trane is not one of them.

I cannot recommend purchasing a Trane air conditioner. Ive had problems with my Trane air conditioner since my purchase. The air handler was full of mold after the first month of service and did not pass City inspection. The air handler had to be replaced in order to pass City inspection. A fluorescent bulb had to be added to the air conditioner which is not part of the engineering design to prevent mold. The main power switch corroded after the first year in service. Then the thermostat went bad. Trane customer service does everything possible not to warranty their parts. Tranes customer service definitely does not put its customers first, and they are extremely difficult to deal with. The experience is beyond upsetting. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Trane air conditioner. Trane makes a poor quality air conditioner and the value and reliability is not there for its price.

I just read 2 recent reviews that are my story!!! Omg! If someone wants to do a class action against Trane for this recurrent issue, I am in. The coil is defective and leaked coolant. The unit had been shutting down hard and sounded like it was going to explode. I also had a $500 electric bill. My HVAC company came out Saturday and put 10lbs!!! of Freon in a 14lb system. They had to order the warrantied coil. They informed me the labor and Freon would be around $1150!!! The manager reduced the price to $850, and told me to call Trane as they knew Trane worked with residential owners. Well, if you got the rep I did, I have no idea how you get anything from them. Christina was no help. She kept telling me that Freon is from a 3rd party vendor. I don€t want Freon from Trane. She also said Trane is only responsible for the part, not the Freon one or labor. But if you just admitted responsibility for the functioning of the part that keeps coolant in, your part didn€t do what you said it is supposed to. So, I paid $10000 for the unit which we are in our last year paying for. I paid $200 for Freon from a previous HVAC visit suspecting a leak with dye and found nothing. Then, the $850 I am paying tomorrow, right before our next winter event in Texas, plus the increase in the electric bill last month and most likely this month. When the tech came out Saturday at 9am, the system had gone into emergency heat on 14!!! occasions. So, I will be lucky if the electric bill is only $500 this next month. If your part fails that is responsible for keeping the coolant flowing through the unit, you are responsible Trane, for the cause and effect from that failed part which is you owing me and the others on this feed money for an obvious issue with the coil!

I had my upstairs unit replaced with a TRANE system, after the 15 y/o unit
I had my upstairs unit replaced with a TRANE system, after the 15 y/o unit failed. I researched models and went with TRANE b/c of their supposed good track record. I have had nothing but trouble with the unit since installed 4 yrs ago in 2012. The coil failed after the first 14 month in 2013, which I was told was an $1800 job had it not been covered by 2 yr labor warranty (thank God for me). The past 2 years I have had to have it serviced for AC failure twice! Each time it was for a different reason, but both resulting in leakage of Freon. The first year it was from a loosened Schroeder. This past repair was from for a leak at txv, a7# Freon leak!I have a great local company who worked with me on labor charges and recommended I contact TRANE for potential replacement. Their customer escalation department is a JOKE. I requested for them to replace my unit as there has been a problem each year and a major component failure with the coil. They basically said, sorry for the inconvenience but we cant do anything except pay half of your last charge (which totaled $274 of $550). It would have been closer to $800 as the labor was 3 1/2 hours but my HVAC company only charged an hour. Sheena **, the escalation rep did nothing but drag her feet for 2 months and offered me real compensation that I deserve.I honestly think I got a lemon or their product just has deteriorated so bad that they cant even stand behind it anymore. I had my downstairs unit replaced the year before this TRANE with a Carrier and havent had the first minutes trouble with it. I wish Id gone with Carrier again! AND, I have both units serviced twice a year for maintenance, so I take care of my investment. DO NOT BUY A TRANE! THEY WILL WRECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT and THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER.

On October 23 2019 Trane dealer from Ormond Beach FL installed Trane® 4TWR4036G1000 XR14 heat pump and Air Handler. According specifications on heat pump it must include Climatuff® compressor. The Climatuff® compressor is the only one Trane uses in its residential systems. Its durable, reliable, and highly efficient. That was the reason I decided to install Trane. My heat pump has a LG compressor. (Number part COM11968). When I ask my dealer why, they just told me they changed it without explanation. I do not know was it a bad unit or installation. They also changed evaporation coils. All in first week. When I called Trane customer service they told me last time they had such problem in August 2016. They advised me to tell my dealer to send unit back to distributor and get a new one. No warranty claims. No invoices for product and parts installation. My system did not pass city inspection because they did not put hurricane pad for elevation. I refuse to have Trane without Climatuff compressor. I am a widow living on VA pension and can not afford to pay for future repairs. I need second opinion from another Trane dealer and resolve this situation as soon as possible because it is affect my health.

Previous home owners spent a good $5,600 on this Trane unit from what I have always heard was the BEST! Installed in 2012, we moved in in 2015. Since winter of 2015 its been non stop issues! All issues has come from the air handler. Since 2015 we have spent a good $2,000 in fixing part after part. Now December 2019 after just spending $600 on it back in October, we are now being told its another $1400 to replace the coil! So far Trane isnt assisting with any of the costs although this unit isnt old at all and we have had issue after issue! We wont be putting more money into this pos we plan to just replace with a carrier unit!

We have a top of the line variable speed high efficiency Trane natural gas
We have a top of the line variable speed high efficiency Trane natural gas furnace. It is now 14 years old, but apparently nearing the end of its life. So much for the 20-year life expectancy we were told to expect when we bought it. We had to have the inducer motor assembly replaced twice within the first year of ownership - at least that was covered under warranty. 13 years later, we have had to replace the blower motor assembly in December 2014 for $800, parts and labor. Now, in March 2015, we have to have the inducer motor assembly replaced again at a cost of $900.00, parts and labor. The local HVAC service technician was able to get it running temporarily - bad bearings - while they order the part. Its been a brutally cold winter here in the northeast, so the furnace has gotten a work-out. We will be pricing new furnaces this summer - and we will not be buying a Trane. When the furnace works, we have been happy with the variable speed functionality. But the endurance has been very disappointing, especially since it was such an expensive furnace to begin with.

I am done dealing with Trane. Turns out Nothing can stop a Trane except bad customer service. Purchased a packaged rooftop HVAC unit about a year ago. It suddenly stopped working. Inspection showed the fan shroud had not been installed correctly at the factory (missing a rivet) and in time it drop down, caught the fan and ripped it from the remaining anchors. Fan & motor also damaged.Contact my installer who informed me that the shroud, fan & motor would be covered but not labor ($480) & the top cover (all bent up) because it is not a functional part of the unit (ignoring the fact it hold the fan assembly & shroud). So, add $800 to the cost of the unit. I contacted Trane myself & escalate the issue. They did not care, simply quoting the warranty. I gave up, did my best to bend the top back into place, bought a rivet gun, and fixed it myself in about two hours. This is the 4th Trane I have purchased in my remodel business. It is the last. Plenty of other options.

In July 2014, I purchased a Trane 4 ton air conditioner and air handler. In July 2017, the coil developed a leak and I spent $1150 in labor cost to install new coil and $300 to replace refrigerant even though the coil was under warranty. In August 2019, the new coil also developed a leak. I had to pay $850 in labor to install my 3rd coil and $390 to replace refrigerant that leaked out. Replacing both coils under warranty cost me a total of $2690. My service technician from AA American Air Conditioning told me that this is a common problem with Trane coils. I called Trane Customer Service and was immediately told that they would not compensate me for my expenses even though they are selling defective coils. Customer Service told me to have my service technician request a visit by a Trane field representative. He tried to do this but was told that the customer (me) has to contact Trane Customer Service to request a visit by a company field representative. I am in a Catch 22 situation and Trane is giving me the runaround. They clearly do not want to take responsibility for their defective coils and they have a €customer be damned€ approach to customer service.

I had a Trane Heat Pump installed January 2014. Initially it was quiet and shut off the same... quietly. Because the compressor is close to my living room wall and the handler is up in the bedroom attic, this issue is quite important to me. The air-handler revs up and pulsates before the unit kicks on and then since it is a two-stage unit, it does the same when it shuts off. Its very annoying when I am trying to sleep at night. The outside unit which is located on the ground outside the living room runs quietly enough until it shuts off. It shuts off very hard and very abruptly causing the metal unit to sound like someone just hit it real hard with a rubber mallet. And then it continues to vibrate probably due to the fact that the metal that is used is so thin it cannot absorb it, I am guessing. Ive heard it go off half way down the block when I am out front. Its kind of startling. I had a routine maintenance check this week and mentioned this to the repair man. He went out and drilled something and it seemed okay but for only two days. Now it is the same as it was before. As far as the air handler, he said that that was its way of talking to the outdoor unit and it was normal. Thats just the way they work he said. All in all, I wish I would not have bought this system. I also will, in the future, deal with a company that takes my concerns seriously and fixes the problem... right. I am stuck with this unit for a while now so I guess I will have to make the best of it... somehow. In the meantime, I plan on calling Trane tomorrow (good luck, huh, from what Ive been reading) to see what might be up. I also will be calling the service company to tell them their fix didnt fix the problem. On the positive side, this system does cool well and my power bills are lower which is a great thing since I live in the desert. However, it is definitely coming at a price... my rest and peace of mind and the peace of my neighbors. Their patio is on the side of where my a/c unit is located.

I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old
I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old with two Trane Air Conditioner units. I received a 1-year buyers warranty for the house as part of the sales contract. As the summer heat started, we noticed the air conditioners were not working well. We contacted the warranty company for service. After a couple of checks including freon refill, they finally found out that there is a leakage in the main unit and the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. They said the unit is still under manufacturer warranty and asked me to directly contact Trane to receive a new evaporator coil and the warranty company agreed to follow up with the labor. I reached out to Trane but they said my warranty expired because I had to contact them within 90 days of purchasing the house. I have explained to them that I was never informed by anyone about this requirement, and I even did not know the brand of my air conditioner until there was a problem with it, but they did not accept. That is totally unreasonable, how can a home buyer know about this rule? This is just a way for them to get away from their warranty duties. I hope this review will help some people to know about this rule so that they can reach out to transfer the warranty within 90 days.

I would HIGHLY suggest NOT buying anything by the Trane brand. Heres why: I
I would HIGHLY suggest NOT buying anything by the Trane brand. Heres why: I purchased 2 new systems from them thinking I was getting better equipment, but that could not be further from the truth. Keep in mind that I live in Arizona where the temps are 115º plus. Now, the first issue is that one of the 2 units went out immediately. It broke when I was out of town forcing the heater to run indefinitely, even though it was set to cool only. As it turns out, they cover all of their wring with peanut oil!?? Well guess what, mice LOVE peanut oil and they were attracted to that lovely taste (probably why we set traps with peanut butter and it works so well). This to me is just simply a bad business decision. Needless to say, everything in our room melted as the temperature was kept above 118 for 3 days straight, while we were gone. Now none of our drawers close correctly, our doors do not shut right and all of the oil in our wood furniture is gone. On to #2! Oh, Keep in mind, these are less than 1 year old! I am still paying $20,000.00 for these two lovely babies!! This time the coil went out, causing us to live in the peak AZ heat for almost a week. I was told that this is uncommon for any brand. I guess we are just lucky. #3 This time the control module went out in the air handler! I was told this never happens unless it is just a bad unit... Again, I guess I am just lucky. #4 This time the Thermostat broke. This is their proprietary thermostat, so their own technology on that thing. Good luck with these things, they have some convoluted method of resetting and joining the network or adopting to your account that is a real treat. #5 Did I mention that I still have a good year or more to go on my payments for these gems!!! Now, the coil went out and leaked out all of the refrigerant. back to 100º in our house! They said it would be at least a week before they could get the part to me (which I thought was a bit long for such a well know brand with distribution) so I wrote them a letter on their website asking why Amazon can get me anything I need in 2 hours, but they take a week, even though they are installing hundreds of these daily, in my city. I also asked is this the type of QUALITY that I should expect from my purchase decision to go with them?Guess what I received back in response to that letter? Well, if you guessed NOTHING, you would be correct. Par for the course here with Trane.#6 The vents and 2 stage motor never really seemed to be very productive, so I called my dealer locally and asked them to investigate. They found that this unit was shipped with malformed flashing on the air handler and it was blocking 80% of the air flow. He trimmed it out and got it back to normal. So, again, I write another letter to Trane on their website asking if this is something that should be replaced or if it is common and again asked if this is the Quality I should expect from their brand. My Answer? Ding Ding Ding, if you guessed NOTHING again! #7 Still waiting on my coil to be delivered after 2 weeks and the installer just called to tell me that Trane sent the wrong coil, so we will need to reorder it from them, AGAIN, and I need to wait. So, moral of the story? If you want really bad quality, tons of headaches, appointments, ruined furniture and pay at least 4 times as much as other brands, you should absolutely buy Trane. Or if you simply want the indoors of your house to be like this, then you should also buy Trane! Otherwise buy ANYTHING ELSE.

We bought a Trane Heat Pump and new furnace in February 2011. In November 2012 the unit shut down and we found out it had a leak and had lost all 410A. The leak was in the copper joint inside of unit so they brazed it. We had to pay $169 to have 410A replaced even though I thought it was very unfair that we should have to pay anything since it was a factory defect. Well, here we are 7 months later and we have another leak. They are having trouble finding it and had put dye in it to try to locate the leak. Two days later and the dye still doesnt show where the leak is so we have to wait another 5 days to let it circulate more. Of course it is 90 degrees here right now so the unit runs almost all day, so I would think the dye should have circulated. They have had to put in another 2 lbs. 410A and said they will give us a good price on it. Well, I say we shouldnt have to pay for it at all since we spent $7000 for all this 2 years ago. I guess maybe Trane is not real good at standing behind their products, so if they dont replace this unit we will be finding something different and we will be hiring an attorney to recoup our loss. We are retired and bought this new hoping that we would avoid repairs for a few years!! Well, I guess we were wrong. Very disappointed in Trane at this point in time!!!!!!!!

We have a Trane heat pump and electric furnace. The whole system is 11 years and 2 months old. The heat pump has to be replaced because the compressor is shorting out. When I contacted the Trane company, I was told there was nothing they could do since the warranty was only 10 years. I thought Trane was such a great product! I would never recommend this product to anybody!

I purchased a home in September 2012 and learned that the A/C unit was not working (found out on the day I closed). I advised seller that I would not move forward with purchase if I had to replace a major appliance like an A/C unit. Seller agreed to replace and I agreed to replace furnace portion of package to avoid a greater cost should the furnace not work. I started noticing the A/C heating up at certain parts of the day and thought I needed to readjust thermostat. After several days of increasing temperatures during the day I decided to call a service technician only to learn that I had no refrigerant in my system. Further investigation showed a leak in the coil. I called the company who installed and they said the part was no longer under warranty and that the warranty was only for 1 year. I decided to call the service technician back and advised him what the installing company said and he advised me that the part that is not working is under warranty and that Trane is aware of the defect with the type coils they use. So the part was definitely under warranty. It turns out that the Tech was correct and Trane provided the coil at no charge, however, I was stuck with a $575.00 labor charge for a unit that is only 2 years, 10 months old. While I am pleased with the work that the Tech did on the unit and how quickly he came to repair and how thoroughly he cleaned up the area after he completed the work, I immediately changed my servicing company. If Trane is aware of this defect, why are they allowed to keep selling a piece of equipment (part) that is obviously defective when they know it is going to fail? While they do not make money off selling the part it still costs consumers labor cost - in my case, $575.00. My dissatisfied rating is because Trane knowingly sells this defective merchandise that would cost consumers huge labor costs in such a short time. How can they do this?

I really like my Trane dealer. But€ The dealer advised me that Trane is not the Trane of old. They have issues in quality and design. I need two new units and am considering Carrier or another brand. What is worse is that the customer service reps are terrible. One last comment. Before you spend a lot of money on a new HVAC system you should air seal your attic. Remove the insulation and seal every hole and joint where the drywall touches wood. Do not add insulation on top of existing insulation in a leaking attic. I spent an extra $2k to do this and replaced the cardboard rafter baffles with corrugated plastic ones from DCI. They are great and brown recluse spiders don€t like plastic. The result is that my cooling costs was reduced by at least 30%. The existing HVAC system now runs less and should help reduce the maintenance cost of a new system.

We bought 1.5 year ago new AC system from Trane because the high quality standard (we had in mind). A month ago, after the one year warranty, the air handler started to leak and after consulting the dealer they ordered a new water pan and they did the installation of that pan. But to install a new pan the coil has to taken out. I was watching this all on the side, but when they took out the coil I saw a damaged coil and stopped them from finishing and took pictures of the damage. The dealer finished the job, I paid him.I filed a complaint against Trane. First I found it unfair to let me pay for that renewing of that pan and second about the damage on the coil. They agree to pay for the repair but the damage on the coil they waved that away. I then filed a complaint through the BBB and the answer of Ms. Erin ** (Consumer Relations Supervisor) was, There is no damage to your coil that is not cosmetic. The functionality, life expectancy, and efficiency will not be negatively affected by the bent spine fins on your evaporator coil. The equipment passed inspection because there is no mechanical damage to the equipment! I would like to say to Ms. **, You should be a great car sales women, you will sell me a car with substantial damage and you use the sentence from above. Functionality, life expectancy and efficiency will not be negatively affect your car. Also, sometimes when a product has a dent or a cosmetic damage, the factory or the dealer will give you a discount because of the damage. The worse of this case is that the coil with the damage passed quality control. So there are probably many of those coils in most of your air handlers. We now talk about the high standard quality Trane will allow us to believe.I already suggested to Ms. ** that if she allows this type of damage on their outside condensers (where you can see the coil), I explained to her that this quality of a condenser would never sell. Im seeking now for, first, a apologize for the way they allow to pass coils with substantial damage and just put them in your air handlers, is just wrong. Secondly, because I expected a brand new, not damaged air handler, a discount on the unit or replacement is in order. Because of all this aggravation and the time I have put into this that discount will be at least 50%. If needed I can add the pictures.

I utilized Lowes in Dec 2013 for the purchase of a total heating/air conditioning system to include new ducts throughout the house in the attic. This work was subcontracted by Lowe€s using a local Heating&Air company (H&A). (I dont know if allowed to say their names). The work was done 6 Jan 2014 through 10 Jan 2014. Feb 4 2014 notified H&A heat pump covered inside and outside with solid ice, came and repaired. Feb 7 2014 H&A tech here as froze again. Feb 9 2014 I called and was told defroster ordered. Feb 13 2014 I called H&A they said they are supposed to expedite the part and defroster is on back order. Feb 17 2014 H&A here and changed defroster. Feb 21 2014 H&A replaced sensor and defroster from icing. Feb 28, 2014 I called H&A heat pump again iced up. 2 March 2014 I notified H&A heat pump fan hitting ice. 4 March 2014 H&A said defroster coming through Customs and should be here end of week or next week. 17 March 2014 H&A said defroster in yesterday (16th March). 18 March H&A changed thermostat in heat pump. June 27 2015 18:55 a/c not working called H&A, was told a tech will call. 19:16 Tech informed he was on another call and would be here next. 21:00 Tech here. Low on Freon. Found leak in air handler coils. He said someone will call Monday to let me know if they have part or will need to order. He replaced Freon. June 29 2015 did not hear from H&A. June 30 2015 11:07 am I called H&A and was told part had to be ordered and should be in tomorrow or Thursday. 14:00pm AC running and room temp at 77 degrees and increasing. Thermostat set at 72 degrees. Turned off AC and have fan on. 2 July 2015 14:18 pm I called H&A and was told part not in yet. 3 July 2015 14:40pm I again called H&A and got recording machine, I did not know they were not opened. 14:47pm I called and left msg with H&A that I again have had no ac all week and no one has bothered to call me to update me on what is going on. I said I would appreciate an update first thing Monday morning since the office is closed today.6 July 2015 11:30 Received call from H&A, he said he will try and track down where part is and call me back. 11:40 am H&A called and said it was on the dock in Little Rock and to be delivered today and H&A will install it tomorrow afternoon. I told him that if it isnt there then someone needs to put Freon in. 7 July 2015 H&A called and said truck driver with parts was in an accident and she was trying to find where part was. She said something about install tomorrow and I told her someone needs to come today and put Freon in today. I also informed her I have a mountain dog and the heat can kill her. She said someone will be here today to either install the part of put Freon in. Currently 95 degrees inside house and 90 degrees outside.7 July @17:10 Tech shows up to add Freon, he does not have part, said was almost empty of Freon. 17:33 still filling with Freon, house 86 degrees. I voiced to tech that I was very upset, that for 12 days and still no part and I had to call to find out any information and I was left without ac for so long. 17:43 completed filling with Freon and left. 8 July 2015 14:30pm one worker here and waiting for another to bring coil. 14:40 other guy here with coil. 16:30 replaced coil and added Freon and left10 July 2015 10:57 am Spoke with H&A and informed her ac set at 70 degrees and in 77 degrees in house, ac not functioning again. She said someone will be out this afternoon to look at it. 11:07 I called and informed H&A that there was fresh water on the wooden platform the air handler sits on. She said to turn off ac and turn on fan- I did this. 14:30 took dog to be boarded, she was lethargic and no ac in house. 15:33 H&A called and said hed be here in 20 minutes. 15:55 Tech here, after he looked over unit I asked what was wrong with it. He said a valve on the coils failed. 16:26 he went to pick up valve at Trane. 18:41 he completed replacing valve and left. 12 July 2015 10:40am called H&A after hours number and told her ac not functioning set at 70 degrees and 77 degrees in house. She said someone will call.11:23 received call from H&A will be here in 20 minutes. 11:25 boarded my dog, very lethargic. 11:47 tech here, said more than half Freon leaked out, recharging unit. 13:00 said leak at junction of heat pump compressor and he could patch it. I said that was NOT acceptable. This is a new unit and not even two years old and patching is not acceptable. I said Trane can replace both units at their expense, poor quality equipment. I said I cannot deal with this anymore and had to walk away. Tech said he will call his boss. 13:20 Tech said his boss would want him to patch leak so that I have air until they can deal with Trane regarding replacement. He did not know how long that would take. He is currently patching leak on outside unit. I told him this is causing me too much stress and I cannot deal with it. I will be seeking what legal avenues I have in the state of Arkansas. I have spent too much money and received inferior parts. 13:48 one of H&A owners called, and said they will talk to Trane tomorrow and will demand Trane do something and he will call me tomorrow. He said he will make it right. He also said he thinks I got a lemon and will push for new equipment. I told him I wanted inside and outside units replaced at Tranes expense. 14:30 Tech finished patching and recharging and left.

We replaced our entire HVAC system in 2008 with a Trane heat pump and gas furnace. We got a 10 year warranty, which we used extensively. The warranty ran out in February of 2018 and I found out today that the blower motor has burn out, again. Previously the blower motor was replaced under warranty. Now it will cost $1,500 to replace the blower motor. I will never buy another Trane product and wont even buy from a HVAC company that sells Trane.

Unresolved Trane Corp Customer Complaint Case # **.We contacted the Local Authorized Installer the day after the installation to complain about the noise. On 3 September we sent an e-mail with a formal complaint about the noise. We have had the Local Authorized Installer visit twice and make adjustments to the furnace and adjust the fan speed (lower the speed). It is now set at the lowest possible speed, which as expected, does not adequately cool or heat our house - the system is on all day to achieve a comfortable level of 73 degrees. On 11 September, the 2nd visit, the 2 person service team agreed that the noise coming from the Furnace Blower was not normal and sounded like metal on metal. They reported that information to the Local Authorized Installer Company Headquarters. On 21 September, the Local Authorized Installer informed me that they had ordered a replacement Motor and Blower Wheel. On 23 September the Installer Company confirmed the parts ordered. Today, 29 September, the Local Authorized Installer stated that they would not install new/replacement parts because Trane Corp HQ would not give them credit for the parts or for a replacement system. Moreover, Trane Corp HQ told the Local Authorized Installer that the noise was normal for this model. We live in a split-level house. The Furnace is in the center of the lower level. The metallic sound travels straight up the intake vents and can be heard in all three bedrooms. I measured the sound on app Sound Meter with results of Decibel (DB) ratings of: Average 74 BD, Max 76 DB when the Air-Conditioner is on (Cooling) and Average 65BD, Max 69 DB with just the fan blowing.Unresolved Trane Corp Customer Complaint Case # **: I called Trane Corp customer service department 3 times to request for the Specifications on the Sound Ratings for this model. The Home Depot provider (ARS, a division of RotoRooter) has not repaired my unit because he alleges Trane is €punishing€ them for not selling the brand after they went with plastic??? Bottom line is they have given me the runaround since December 12. My unit is under warranty and my worst fear is that one day my a/c has a problem. Heating in Miami is not needed too often although I had to purchase portable heaters for my birds when we had a few very cold days. I am very upset with ARS and with Home Depot and would like to know if what they say is true. I still doubt that a reputable company refuses to sell parts for one of its products which is just 5 years old. I was very happy with my unit until this happened.

We purchased an American Standard Gold (made by Trane with Trane customer service) HVAC system for our upstairs area in 2012. We did so based ratings and quality reviews. We had good Trane systems in our previous homes with no major issues. This current system experienced 8 breakdowns in the past six years with four this year alone. In nearly every case it was a different issue. I have paid more than $3000.00 in repairs in spite of having a 10 year parts warranty with the system. I have never had such failures of HVAC in any of the homes that I have owned over the past 40 years.

Once AGAIN I am having to pay for ANOTHER repair on my 2006 XL14I Trane that I purchased in 2006. In Feb. 2013, I had to have the compressor replaced; June 2009 I had to have a coil replaced. Now at the current time, I am waiting on a new circuit board that goes on the fan motor. The parts are under warranty for 2 more years, but I am STILL having to pay for the labor which IS NOT cheap. But I SHOULDNT have all this trouble with a $5000 product that is ONLY 8 years old. Moral of the story is: DO NOT buy a Trane! Years ago they were a good product but NOW they SUCK! So heed the warning if you are looking to purchase a heat pump. NO TRANE!!!!

I had my Trane XL90 furnace installed by a Trane authorized HVAC dealer man
I had my Trane XL90 furnace installed by a Trane authorized HVAC dealer many years ago. I bought it specifically because they had (still say they do) a lifetime guarantee on the heat exchanger. Something that I knew at the time was a weak point for many brands. Years later my furnace started to fail and Im certain now that I was experiencing high levels of CO in my house. (damp windows) I attempted to patch/seal the holes at the end of the bottom of the heat exchangers. It is a cooler area of the heat exchanger and I imagine condensation was an issues that ultimately created holes and furnace ignition issues from the improper drafting of exhaust gases into my house. For almost two years, I tried to keep it working. I complained to the dealer more than once and they said to contact Trane. I did!On SIX occasions, they basically denied having to do anything for me. They instructed me to contact the dealer and they could likely get me a $250 rebate off a new one. But these crooks know that this rebate is the same as what they were offering everyone. The heat exchanger came with a lifetime warranty, but labor was not included. They kept giving me the excuse that this heat exchanger was no longer available. True, but I bought a lifetime warranty, not a whenever the parts run out warranty. Typically a heat exchanger is an $800 to $900 part; however, they refused to compensate me or offer that amount as a rebate/credit off the new XL90 or a similar models. I ended up with a very nice and efficient Goodman. In talking to several other people about Goodman, they always seem to honor their warranties. TRANE WILL NOT! They are LIARS ! Nothing RUNS away from their warranty like a Trane!
