I had a contractor installed a new furnace yesterday, went to Tranes website today to complete the registration, its website does not allow me to enter series number or model number. The registration page design is a piece of junk. So I called customer service instead, it is funny that the rep asked me to repeat my address, phone number, model number, serial number, email address ... everything 2 to 3 times. I spent ONE hour to complete the registration, it should take 5 minutes to do this online with other companys products.

I recently found it necessary to replace my 20 year old central HVAC. I contacted a local HVAC contractor in Denver for the job. They replaced my system with new a Trane furnace and A/C system. After waiting in 90 degree heat for 10 days for the equipment to be delivered and another 2 days for installation, when they flipped the switch - nothing! After another day of troubleshooting they discovered that a circuit board was defective! 8 days later, the new circuit board arrived. That finally got the A/C working. After a few days I noticed that the fan noise was really loud, constantly. After another service call, they determined that the fan controller was defective, and oh by the way, the heating was not working. Im sure it will take another 10 days to get a new controller. This is on a brand new, top of the line, $15k system. I strongly recommend that you consider another vendor for your HVAC. Trane clearly has quality control issues.

XL18I AC system - Purchased and had the unit installed in Dec 2007 in a new house. The first year I went through a summer 2008 it did not cool properly. Had to configure the temp shutoff in the attic unit. The 3rd year 2010, had to replace the circuit board in the blower/condenser coil in the attic. The 5th year 2012 had to replace a relay on the blower/condenser unit in the attic. The 6th year 2013 the capacitor had to replaced in the outside unit. The 7th year 2014 the capacitor set had to be replaced again. The 8th year 2015 the condenser coils had to be replaced along with the expansion valve and refrigerant. This year (the 9th) 2016 I have had to have service person in again. He originally replaced the switching valve and the expansion valve and it worked the weekend and then went out again. Service person came in and pulled the expansion valve and it was plugged with trash. Installed a filter drier and is still not cooling. This is the biggest POS I have ever owned in my life. Warranty is about to run out and I have had it. Labor and freon cost are killing me.

Published on 02/20/2020: Despite paying top dollar for 2 variable speed units, I could not get anyone from Trane to respond. Customer service was no help at all and just referred me back to local installers who was equally unhelpful. Trane appears to be more focused on commercial not their residential customers.Original review: All I wanted to know was whether a backup generator I was considering was compatible with my recently purchased TRANE HVAC system. Was told TRANE does not provide technical support for residential consumers.

I bought a new Xi15 heat pump and furnace on 16 Jul 09 and the thing hasnt worked right more than a few days at a time since I bought it. I had to have gas serviced two times since install--the first time was just days after the annual service was done and nothing was found wrong. The first time, the tech didnt have enough gas and said that hed be back (yep, he came back the next year for the service and had to fill it again). I had the annual service done in July and ran the AC for two days. I just decided to turn on the heat a couple of days ago and it didnt work again. Every time I turn the unit on, after a couple of months, it doesnt work. Its an $8,700 piece of **.The tech came out Friday again and said that the fan motor is bad and said that it will be $328.75 labor to replace--should take all of an hour. Anyway, Ill never do business with Dicks or Trane again. Mike **, the sales guy, lied about the warranty and Dicks tried to scam me on the annual service that was free. Trane doesnt even want to discuss the issues and refers me back to Dicks so they carry the same reputation in my book. I am just sorry that I went way out of my way to help Trane get cutting edge technology from my own company. I should have thrown them the same bone, but Im not like that.

Trane dealer installed a new Trane heat pump system in Summer 2016. I regret I did not read the reviews online. The system started having problems in winter 2018. Dealer checked it and said the heater in air handler was broken and needed replacement. Then defrost board and fan motor in heat pump were found broken. The condenser coil could also be leaking. I was shocked by all these major issues. Dealer just told me I was unlucky to get a bad system. I was asked to pay about $900 labor fee since only parts are under warranty. In addition, there could be other issues since testing could not be done without replacing the parts. So whole system is a junk. I complained to dealer manager, then to Trane customer service, then escalated to supervisor. I sent them all the documents they asked for, but never heard from them. Whenever I called them, I was transferred many times and held for one hour, but nothing was done. I emailed them many times, but no reply. People working at Trane just don€t care. Do not buy Trane products, because you will regret.

Replaced our 30-yr-old furnace with a new Trane furnace XT95 in Canada. This was installed on Feb. 20, 2013. The heating is poor. We have a finished basement and it never gets above 58 degrees F. When I sit on my couch just above the furnace, it feels like I`m riding on a train. Have had numerous service calls but they don`t know what`s the matter. Theyve changed motors, adjusted parts and used their diagnostics tools and this is the installers. Now have to wait for the big experts from Trane. I was told by the company that sold and installed the furnace that they were coming about 2 weeks before. I even contacted Trane company myself. Still waiting .

I am actively seeking a Florida class action attorney to represent me and thousands of other Florida consumers. Here is the background: In Feb. 2013, I was quoted $6185 for a new TRANE XL Hyperion 16 SEER 3 ton heat pump system for my condo in Gainesville, FL. This included a 10-year limited parts warranty supplied via the TRANE corporation, which was why I selected their equipment. The local utility company supplied a generous rebate as well, so my final purchase price was $5085 out of pocket. There were lots of forms and even air flow tests to be performed for energy efficiency, and a city building permit, too.Unbeknownst to me, this 10-year limited warranty coverage required ONLINE REGISTRATION WITHIN 60 DAYS, or became invalid, and was reduced by 50% to a mere 5-year base warranty. The online registration had to be done via a TRANE company website. However, I was not told to register the serial numbers, or I would lose my warranty coverage. But, the dealer, who would be clearly advantaged by this reduced coverage, knew about it for certain, as the policy started 4 years prior in 2009.My AC system is now 2 years old and I learned quite by accident, that I had lost my warranty coverage because it was not registered online before Day 61 on the TRANE website. I then contacted the dealer by phone and email and filed a request with TRANE to get my original 10-year limited warranty (which I paid for) re-instated. After two weeks of email, calls and postings on Facebook with the TRANE Corporation, I was finally told this week by phone by Cierra **, Trane Escalations Supervisor, that Trane respectfully decline[s] participation to change your warranty terms to 10 yrs. On behalf of Trane Inc. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate the time you took to make us aware of your concerns. Thus my 10-year limited warranty is now invalid and I am left with only 5 years.I believe that this is warranty fraud and may also violate the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (DUTPA), and likely constitutes bad faith on the part of Trane, and the installing dealer, who should have registered the serial numbers on the day of the install, just as a LEXUS dealer would register your VIN with LEXUS when they sell you a car. Please note that this required 60-day online registration policy is an advantage to ANY UNSCRUPULOUS HVAC dealer, and a huge DISADVANTAGE to most consumers, including the blind, handicapped, mentally challenged, poor people with limited or no Internet access, out of town property owners, etc. I am appalled at TRANEs response to this sincere and genuine effort on my part to restore my original 10-year warranty coverage. I believe that it is possible that HUNDREDS of consumers fall victim to this disappearing warranty coverage policy, but I am only asking for your help to restore my original warranty. However, it is worth noting that TRANE could solve this problem tomorrow by REQUIRING that ALL FLORIDA DEALERS register the serial numbers of their system on the date of installation.Meanwhile, I believe the damages in the loss of 5 years of warranty coverage is about $3000, if not more. I have contacted an HVAC warranty services company to find out the actual cost to restore similar warranty coverage. I doubt that any other local dealer will issue extended warranty coverage on my system, as it is now 2 years 4 months old. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE IS APPRECIATED. I HAVE LOTS OF DOCUMENTATION I CAN SHARE, INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL SALES QUOTE, INVOICE, AND MANY EMAIL TO TRANE AND LIBERTY AIR.

I bought a new indoor and outdoor Trane system in May 2013 (after saving for one year with no a/c or heat in the house) thinking that I made a good choice. I really believed their manipulative slogan NOTHING STOPS A TRANE which it needs to changed to TRANE NEVER STARTS, I am such a fool for believing that. Shortly after we had it installed we started having problems. So far we spent $1250 in repair on this Trane product. Tried to contact Trane to get reimbursed for some of this expense and they offered one time goodwill gesture of $85.12 and at the end saying hope you will trust our product in the future. I will never buy another Trane product. I have already stopped 2 people from buying a Trane product.

On October 23 2019 Trane dealer from Ormond Beach FL installed Trane® 4TWR4036G1000 XR14 heat pump and Air Handler. According specifications on heat pump it must include Climatuff® compressor. The Climatuff® compressor is the only one Trane uses in its residential systems. Its durable, reliable, and highly efficient. That was the reason I decided to install Trane. My heat pump has a LG compressor. (Number part COM11968). When I ask my dealer why, they just told me they changed it without explanation. I do not know was it a bad unit or installation. They also changed evaporation coils. All in first week. When I called Trane customer service they told me last time they had such problem in August 2016. They advised me to tell my dealer to send unit back to distributor and get a new one. No warranty claims. No invoices for product and parts installation. My system did not pass city inspection because they did not put hurricane pad for elevation. I refuse to have Trane without Climatuff compressor. I am a widow living on VA pension and can not afford to pay for future repairs. I need second opinion from another Trane dealer and resolve this situation as soon as possible because it is affect my health.

Coil Leaking, HVAC person tells us ALL HVAC UNITS are bad now. I hope the title says it all. I purchased a high-end TRANE for roughly $8000 a little over 4 years ago and while still under warranty the coil has been leaking and I ran out of Freon. To fill the unit up to get through the summer I spent about $700 for the coolant. The warranty doesnt cover labor, so even if I order a new coil under warranty, it will cost a fortune to install it, with no guarantee it will perform any better. My HVAC person said theres roughly 350,000 units with bad coils right now. Is there an agency I can call, like an insurance commissioner in our state? I know theres such a thing as a Lemon Law with respect to cars. Can there be a class action suit brought against these companies?

Im compelled to write my review about my experience with Trane and their authorized dealer YEAKLES HVAC out of Hagerstown, MD. First Yeakles completed the installation of a dual fuel (supposed) 16 seer heat pump and A|C system. Immediately I had concerns. The system just wouldnt heat my house in heat pump mode. As questioned the dealer he had argued everything is correct. Just give it time it will work. Anyway as I wait for this system to work. In January I call because again no heat in heat pump mode. He had sent a tech in. His own tech had told me my system is wrong. That his boss had installed a 5tn blower under a 4tn coil. Making it that the 5tn of air across the coil is cooling the system down not allowing it to heat up correctly. So I called Trane, file a complaint. The representative showed me documents that my system is not correct. His data showed that my 16 seer system is rated at a 14.5 seer. So you would think they would make their authorized dealer fix it right? WRONG! On March 1 Yeakles had called me confessing he had in fact installed the incorrect stuff. Great right. No, because within 5 short days Yeakles mind has changed. Even though there is documented proof. He had messed up. Yeakles is now refusing to fix it. What! Oh yeah and Trane has told me they have done all they could do. What! I thought Yeakles was your authorized dealer? Make him fix it! To my point, maybe you cant trust a Trane dealer.

In July 2014, I purchased a Trane 4 ton air conditioner and air handler. In July 2017, the coil developed a leak and I spent $1150 in labor cost to install new coil and $300 to replace refrigerant even though the coil was under warranty. In August 2019, the new coil also developed a leak. I had to pay $850 in labor to install my 3rd coil and $390 to replace refrigerant that leaked out. Replacing both coils under warranty cost me a total of $2690. My service technician from AA American Air Conditioning told me that this is a common problem with Trane coils. I called Trane Customer Service and was immediately told that they would not compensate me for my expenses even though they are selling defective coils. Customer Service told me to have my service technician request a visit by a Trane field representative. He tried to do this but was told that the customer (me) has to contact Trane Customer Service to request a visit by a company field representative. I am in a Catch 22 situation and Trane is giving me the runaround. They clearly do not want to take responsibility for their defective coils and they have a €customer be damned€ approach to customer service.

I am done dealing with Trane. Turns out Nothing can stop a Trane except bad customer service. Purchased a packaged rooftop HVAC unit about a year ago. It suddenly stopped working. Inspection showed the fan shroud had not been installed correctly at the factory (missing a rivet) and in time it drop down, caught the fan and ripped it from the remaining anchors. Fan & motor also damaged.Contact my installer who informed me that the shroud, fan & motor would be covered but not labor ($480) & the top cover (all bent up) because it is not a functional part of the unit (ignoring the fact it hold the fan assembly & shroud). So, add $800 to the cost of the unit. I contacted Trane myself & escalate the issue. They did not care, simply quoting the warranty. I gave up, did my best to bend the top back into place, bought a rivet gun, and fixed it myself in about two hours. This is the 4th Trane I have purchased in my remodel business. It is the last. Plenty of other options.

I purchased a Trane Total Home Comfort System (XV95 gas furnace and XL15i air conditioner 4 ton capacity) in June 2009. The cost was $8,500.00. I thought Trane was a good unit. I had a Lennox builders grade and it was 15 years old and thought I better replace it since it was going to cost me $400.00 to repair because ants got into a part. Well, 4 seasons later the air is not working and the repairman told me there is a leak in the A Coil. I told the repairman I always heard if something goes wrong with the A Coil you need to replace the unit. He said he usually recommends this and it would be over $4000 but since the unit is not even 5 years old he said to just replace the A Coil. The part is under warranty but the labor would be $1200. Good grief!!! This must be a very difficult repair since it costs $1200 to fix. I thought I was buying a good product but now I know not to recommend Trane to anyone. I guess I better hope the furnace works this winter.

September 24, 2011, we purchased the entire Trane Duel Fuel System from McCrea Heating and Air Conditioning Service of Virginia for $10,000. This included a variable speed 2-stage furnace, top-of-the-line Trane heat pump, new coils, and a whole house humidifier. The system worked for a year. In September 2012, we started to get error messages on the thermostat. Since calling McCrea to fix this system, they have been here seven (7) times. The problems were no outdoor temperature reading, the system not being able to switch from heat pump to furnace when the temperature dropped below 35 degrees, and the humidifier stopped working. Most of these issues are related to a defective relay panel, which Trane apparently doesn€t keep in stock, or they break quite often and they can€t keep them in stock. The system still does not work as advertised and has not worked correctly for five (5) months. I do have a service contract with McCrea, and all repairs have been under warranty, but the system still doesn€t work correctly.

We have a top of the line variable speed high efficiency Trane natural gas
We have a top of the line variable speed high efficiency Trane natural gas furnace. It is now 14 years old, but apparently nearing the end of its life. So much for the 20-year life expectancy we were told to expect when we bought it. We had to have the inducer motor assembly replaced twice within the first year of ownership - at least that was covered under warranty. 13 years later, we have had to replace the blower motor assembly in December 2014 for $800, parts and labor. Now, in March 2015, we have to have the inducer motor assembly replaced again at a cost of $900.00, parts and labor. The local HVAC service technician was able to get it running temporarily - bad bearings - while they order the part. Its been a brutally cold winter here in the northeast, so the furnace has gotten a work-out. We will be pricing new furnaces this summer - and we will not be buying a Trane. When the furnace works, we have been happy with the variable speed functionality. But the endurance has been very disappointing, especially since it was such an expensive furnace to begin with.

My HVAC service man has just left after sharing the good news that yet another expensive fix is in store for me because of my Trane. My system was installed 5 years and 6 months ago, and wouldnt you know it, my leaking evaporator coil is toast and the warranty is... well yes... 5 years. This another in a long list of failures, repairs, bad contactor, bad capacitor, blown fuses, indoor unit fan not assembled correctly from the factory with evidence that the set screw was screwed down on the round instead of the flat of the shaft (that was a nice sound in the middle of the night btw), coolant added several times during the last 3 years until today finally discovering a huge leak in the evap coil. I guess it finally made its way from a slow leak to a deluge. Last fill lasted 24 hours. This is ridiculous. Stay away from Trane, please!

I now have it over 10 yrs and have not had one service call except for the yearly maintenance service to keep it running at maximum precision. This is the reason I chose Trane for my heating and cooling comfort. Both my units worked perfectly for about 8 years. When the furnace would stop, but blower would run in the winter, my Trane repairman blamed the control board and the blower motor which were quite costly. The second service expert found it was the limit sensor, and suggested the control board that I said I had it replaced. Three winters of blowing air with no heat unpredictably the third repair guy, replaced the temperature limit and suggested my under floor vents were the issue. It comes down to that my Trane Furnace XE-90 only works properly when the weather is mild and heat isnt really needed. Advice to Trane furnace owners to look up the control panel light flash indicators meaning, it can tell you how many flashes you see represent the problem supposedly. Additionally watching the Trane tech, there is a way to have the front panels off while the unit works (Be safe about electricity at this point.) There is a trigger button on the top left that can be taped down with electrical tape. I cant afford to have repairmen around, or replace it all. The A/C went too, still working on that one.

Keeping the filters changed and regular maintenance are the only expenses so far.

We had a Trane heat pump installed 3 years ago. Even though it is still under warranty, it is still costing us a ridiculous amount of money in repairs, yearly!!! The fault has clearly been from the manufacturing facility but Trane will only replace the part. NOT labor... and NOT the coolant replacement which leaks out due to the faulty part! Our HVAC provider refuses to sell or install any future Trane units due to the ridiculous new policies, apparently the once solid company has been bought by bankers... and customer service and quality is no longer important.

I just read 2 recent reviews that are my story!!! Omg! If someone wants to do a class action against Trane for this recurrent issue, I am in. The coil is defective and leaked coolant. The unit had been shutting down hard and sounded like it was going to explode. I also had a $500 electric bill. My HVAC company came out Saturday and put 10lbs!!! of Freon in a 14lb system. They had to order the warrantied coil. They informed me the labor and Freon would be around $1150!!! The manager reduced the price to $850, and told me to call Trane as they knew Trane worked with residential owners. Well, if you got the rep I did, I have no idea how you get anything from them. Christina was no help. She kept telling me that Freon is from a 3rd party vendor. I don€t want Freon from Trane. She also said Trane is only responsible for the part, not the Freon one or labor. But if you just admitted responsibility for the functioning of the part that keeps coolant in, your part didn€t do what you said it is supposed to. So, I paid $10000 for the unit which we are in our last year paying for. I paid $200 for Freon from a previous HVAC visit suspecting a leak with dye and found nothing. Then, the $850 I am paying tomorrow, right before our next winter event in Texas, plus the increase in the electric bill last month and most likely this month. When the tech came out Saturday at 9am, the system had gone into emergency heat on 14!!! occasions. So, I will be lucky if the electric bill is only $500 this next month. If your part fails that is responsible for keeping the coolant flowing through the unit, you are responsible Trane, for the cause and effect from that failed part which is you owing me and the others on this feed money for an obvious issue with the coil!

I€m a master HVAC tech. I installed 2 Trane xl16 heat pumps in my in-law€s house in 2006. So far both inside coils blew out in the first two years and one of the replacement coils that was suppose to be of better construction just blew out in the same place the last one did. Although I can get the parts under warranty, I€m out $250 worth of 410a Freon, not to mention the time and aggravation. All I can say is what happened to Trane and where did their quality go? Obviously profit outweighs making a good product. It has gone downhill so bad that companies in my area that have sold them for decades quit selling them, including me.

In 2001, we built our house and went with top of the line Trane heat pumps, two of them. In 2004, hurricane Ivan came in and took our house. In 2005, we rebuilt and had the same units installed, Trane heat pumps with the UV filter system 14xl. Well in 2007, the 3.5-ton unit went out. We called the company that installed both units, Mooneyham Heating and Air in Milton, FL. They came out and told us the coil was no good and needed to be replaced. It would cost us $1,500. We told them it is under warranty. They said, €Let us check on that and we will get back to you.€ Well, several days go by and no call back, so I called them and they said, €Sorry for not getting back to you but we have been really slammed.€ I told them, €Well, I would like to have A/C again.€ It is 90 + outside. They told me that Trane would only cover the coil under warranty and we would have to pay the labor. I said, €Can I have their phone number?€ So I called Trane in South Florida. After two days of the dog chasing its tail, they got back to me and told me over a 3-way call with Trane and Mooneyham that Trane would be paying parts and labor to Mooneyham. I said, €Great, when can I have my A/C back?€ Well, that€s another issue. The coils are on backorder. I said, €What? It could take up to three weeks to get you one sent in the mail.€ I told them that is not going to work, so I called our local district and they have one on the shelf, 6 miles from me. So I called Trane back and told them there is one on the shelf at this place, call them and I will go and pick it up for Mooneyham. €We can€t do that, sir. It has to come from us.€ I know the system is out again and they will not fix under the warranty agreement and the other unit just went out for the same thing. So I have two units not working and no A/C in 90+ weather. I guess their slogan is incorrect - Its hard to stop a Trane. Well, everything I have seen on this form and other Trane units are junk and overpriced. It was our first and last and I will be turning this over to our lawyer.

After 7 years my a-c evaporator (the coil in the air handler located in my garage) needed replacement. It could not be repaired because the copper tubing was so thin that it could not permanently contain the refrigerant (Freon 22). The technician who installed the new coil asked me to lift the defective coil he had removed. It weighed about ten pounds, then he showed me a coil that was in perfect condition, from a similar a-c (48,000 BTUs (4 tons)) that was manufactured about thirty years earlier, it weighed about twenty five pounds. More than twice as heavy. The copper tubing was much heavier, not tissue paper thin like the newer unit. Why have our political leaders created very strict laws to prevent the escape of refrigerants and other destructive gases but they allow companies like Trane to make exorbitant profits while polluting the environment with these millions and millions and millions of leaky a-c coils? Why? Ask yourself, why?

He€s done everything from change valves to Freon to pulling vacuums etc. Trane won€t stand behind their products, their consumer relations department is useless. Three different people gave me three different responses on how they would or wouldn€t help me. Replaced old furnace in our new home. We had new duct work and the Trane v95 put in, 4 months later the ductwork fell down. Then the burners went out on the furnace, had to be replace after 3 months of use, said our basement was too damp. Had to have it serviced again for continuously running and not heating wasting my propane. They said it was our fault we didnt buy the extra warranty. Not everyone has the money to get that. Once again the burners are not heating one year after repair. Each time this has cost me 179.00, the part was under warranty. I am pretty handy but this is ridiculous. They were rude to us and blamed us. My galvanized ductwork was replaced with the foil foam stuff and I had to make many repairs from the mice eating it. Not to mention it keeps falling down heating and cooling my crawl space. We live in the country. They had a terrible time getting it to work at first. That should have been my first clue... I called home depot about it many times and the service company. When they did come out I ended up doing some of the work. Dont have an order number, bought it through home depot. OH, they are no longer using the company that installed my furnace. Too many complaints...

Trane Heat Pump Model 63256PF1F - I had this unit installed in the Winter of 2008 and have had 10 service calls on it during that time frame. Number 11 will be done this week. When the unit was 2.5 years old, the compressor went out. I had to pay for the service call, Freon and incidentals. Last year, the unit had issues during the winter. A leak developed causing the heat pump to quit working and all heat came from auxiliary heat strips. My electric bill soared to $1,100.00 while the former highest bill had been $400.00. I have lived in this house for 9.5 years and know what to expect for electric bills. The service technicians made five visits before supposedly repairing the problem. I was billed $1,800.00 for these visits. Each time they came out, Freon was added and charged to the bill without ever fixing the leak. Now this winter, I have the same problem. I suspected that there was an issue (the unit was running on heat strips a lot more frequently) so I called for service. The tech said everything was operating as it should. I paid the $80.00 fee but was not satisfied with his findings. I contacted a different company for a second opinion. They too said everything was working fine. Less than a week later, I awoke to a 7 degree difference between thermostat and room temp. I called them back out and they said it was the thermostat. $150.00 was the charge for this visit. Two and one half days later, the same thing occurred. This time they checked the Freon and found it to be low. Four pounds were added (more money) but the tech said he would have to come back to try to find the leak. That was last Monday. I am anxiously awaiting to hear what the problem is this time.I am at their mercy. The unit still has four years warranty remaining on all parts but I cannot keep putting money into this lemon. If anyone knows of any recourse to Trane, please advise. I have spent over $3,000.00 in service calls, repair costs and added utility costs because of this unit.

Just had a new XV18 air conditioner installed with all the bell & whistles. But when the fan is in continuous run mode it shuts off every time the AC comes on. So at night when the ac has to cool the house 1 degree the fan shuts off. The house goes quiet while cooling, then the fan comes back on, that is not the definition of continuous. Have contacted Trane many times asking if this is how the system operates or is there a problem. Neither Trane nor the dealer that installed the unit have been able to answer this simple question in 2 weeks. Trane just tells me to call the installer, and since the installer cannot answer the question I do not understand why it is so hard for Trane to get me to the right person at the company that knows the equipment. There are other issues with the unit in regards to noise & vibration in the wall, but I do not want the installer to put any more work into the unit if we cannot solve the fan issue. So now everything is on hold and I am not getting an answer. Has anyone else had this problem? If Trane cannot help with a basic question I am concerned about if they will back the equipment. Seems once you have it the problem is yours not theirs. Bad customer support & service.

The old Carrier unit (installed in the mid 80s) finally died three years ago. Since I retired from Trane after 25+ years I wanted a Trane heat pump. Every winter since it was installed we have had Dirty Sock Syndrome. It makes the entire house smell just like dirty socks. Never had this issue with the Carrier unit all those years. The Trane dealer cleans the unit and the smell goes away till the next winter. However, my dealer is now saying if this next cleaning doesnt work we should look into purchasing and installing ultra violet lighting to kill the bacteria. Why doesnt Trane assume responsibility for the problem?

Variable speed air handler manufactured by Trane has a motor failure after 11 years? Trane boasts about their rigorous testing yet with light residential use, my air handler motor FAILS??!! AND it is just beyond the 10 year warranty. Well isnt that convenient? This is unacceptable considering the amount of money paid for this product and the time and money spent in twice yearly preventative maintenance. I was hopeful that I was buying a quality product given the amount of money paid for my a/c system. I wont do it again and strongly urge others to consider Carrier or Amana over Trane. I recently moved into my custom built home. During the planning phase I requested TRANE equipment due to prior good experiences. Upon completion I had no idea that the TRANE equipment had to be registered 60 days after closing (I am sure its stated in the fine print or piles of documents one receives when purchasing a new house). Minor mistake... WRONG! The difference is with a brand new home and brand new trane furnace/ac/coil equipment you lose 5-7 yrs of warranty on the equipment if you do not register in 60 days... NO EXCEPTIONS, NO OPTIONS, NO INTERMEDIARY SOLUTIONS. BASICALLY NO ONE THAT APPARENTLY REALLY CARES! I strongly recommend using another company that is more transparent with their policies and has a real customer service department that is equipped to do the right thing when necessary! 10 year parts warranty if you register in 60 days! 5 & 3 year warranty if you dont... same new equipment, same new house but a rigid, ridiculous policy that none of their customer relations employees can even really defend. Weve already had the furnace go down (23F outside) & now I learn about their policies & customer relations efforts. Ill never make this mistake again (Trane equipment).

We replaced a failing heat pump with what we thought was the Gold Standard
We replaced a failing heat pump with what we thought was the Gold Standard - a Trane system with a 10 YEAR warranty. The system performed admirably for 4 summers, but when hot weather came to Virginia this year, the system stopped cooling b/c of what the installer indicated was a poorly located copper tube that had split and allowed the refrigerant to escape. We assumed it was an installation error that would be covered by the warranty, but in fact, the technician said the units are made that way. Four weeks later and over $1,500 of labor and service charges [$800 of which is 2 occasions of lost refrigerant] we are still waiting for parts because we balked at paying an additional $300 for expedited shipping. It may be Hard to STOP a TRANE, but from our experience, its even HARDER to START a TRANE!

My first 3-Ton Trane 18XL system installed in December of 2004 lasted until May of 2018. I live on an island and so my condensers are exposed to harsh conditions, even so my old system never stopped until the condenser coil sprung a leak on a copper to aluminum factory swaged joint. I replaced the system with a new XL 18i condenser and a TAM9 air handler (AHU). This new AHU lasted from May 2018 to December 2018 having developed a leak on a factory welded u-joint. My dealer in Miami was kind enough to provide a new coil under warranty but Trane would not pay for the shipping and wanted me to send back the defective coil back at my cost. The new AHU coil installed in late March 2018 and lasted until late May 2020 and failed the same way as the first. My dealer was swift in getting me a warranty replacement again but said Trane offered no comment about why the same failure happened. My dealer also noted several other failures of the same nature on AHU coils he supplied over the past year. This is very concerning to me as my previous Trane units seemed unstoppable. Now I think it is time for Trane to change its slogan to Trane stops every year. Ill be looking for another brand if this one fails within the warranty period.

We built a new home and installed a Trane propane HVAC unit because they are supposed to be better than others. Well, fast forward to December 2018. We have a 1 1/2 year old unit that is constantly breaking. First the pressure switch and board went out, then they replaced the igniters and a couple gas parts. Now another switch has went out and they replaced it. This unit has been broken continually since December 2018. Our installing company has been here sometimes on a daily basis, they have been wonderful through the whole process. Every time they fix something though, something else goes wrong. This has been so bad that the Field Service Representative from Trane came to see if he could help fix it. That was two breaks ago! I have contacted Tranes customer service and they have blamed it on the installing company and said they did not know what they were doing. LOL. It was the Trane service representative that said what parts to replace and how to fix it. Trane has said they will give us parts and we are responsible for the rest. This unit is broken more than it is working. We want a new unit! I am with anyone who files a class action lawsuit over these inferior units.

In 2015 I purchased a Trane XL 20 heat pump system with variable speed air handler and heat pump. Installer moved out door unit from where the old unit was to a place that made installation easier. As it was summer and the unit was in cooling mode, the outdoor unit was much quieter that the old one. When the weather changed and the unit went into heat mode the outdoor unit became so loud that it could be heard throughout the house. I called the installer and they came out and assessed the unit and informed me that the noise was normal. As the unit now sits outside my bedroom instead of the kitchen, it can be rather annoying if the weather is really cold and the unit is running at 100%.After about 3 years I awoke one morning to an error on the thermostat and no A/C. Service man checked unit and said the wire tie holding a piece of foam insulation around one of the lines inside the outdoor unit to keep two copper lines from chafing, had rubbed a hole through one of the lines and caused the failure. He took pictures and noted it on the service report. I contacted TRANE, as to me, this was a factory flaw in the wire tie placement. TRANE requested documentation which I provided. They rejected the claim and I was out almost $1000.00 to repair the unit. As far as efficiency goes, the unit has lowered my over all electricity bill. Also the filters for the air handler state that they are 4 inch filters but in actuality they are 3.75 inch. As such filters purchased on the open market do not fit and requires one to buy them from a TRANE installer or dealer.

My wife and I bought a house a little more than a year ago with a 5 year ol
My wife and I bought a house a little more than a year ago with a 5 year old Trane TAM7, which at first was a major selling point. In the year we have had it the outside unit motor failed and the entire inside unit is currently being gutted and replace from a defective motherboard that seems to have affected all the other parts. Trane techs at the Trane supply in Orlando have repeatedly given false information on the units problem and false fixes that have cost us and our techs working on the almost 24 hours of repairs and it is still not fixed. It has been 6 days since our unit stopped working and Trane tells us now it will be another 5 days until another part can be delivered and ready. Trane has been unhelpful and inconsiderate of the emergency of not having air conditioning in Florida when the heat index is over 100 and have done nothing but promise results from its equipment and parts which are not being met. This product is quoted as reliable. I believe if the unit hasnt worked properly for more than 5 months at a time without an issue occurring and HVAC techs needing to come and repair the unit then it is not reliable and should not be marketed as such. We have 8 pets that live with us and being without a air conditioning unit in the central Florida area can have negative effects on their health or possibly be worse. I believe Trane is responsible and is being negligent to their products and consumers that ultimately suffer from this negligence that Trane is refusing to be accountable for.

Replaced a 14-yr old 5-ton RHEEM split system with a new 5-ton XV20i conden
Replaced a 14-yr old 5-ton RHEEM split system with a new 5-ton XV20i condenser (matched field - XC80 gas furnace and 5-ton evaporator coil in the attic). Well, I was surely sold on looks and the rhetoric of what it can do - a variable speed (720 speeds) of compressor and furnace, Wi-Fi capable, energy-efficiency, etc. Right from the start I realized there is something fundamentally wrong with this AC system. As an example, lowering the temp. from 75 to 73 degrees takes over an hour to achieve (with inside humidity of 50% and outside temp just below 90 degrees). My old Rheem unit, before going out (due to its evaporator coil leaking) would take about 5 mins (for sure no more than 10 mins under similar conditions). After the system was installed I thoroughly inspected each and every duct supply coming out of the new plenum for leaks and found none. Please note, I did not have new ducts installed, so my existing ones were used with the new system. Also, the new system was connected to the existing freon lines (that run from the outside unit to the attic). I believe, if the freon lines (hidden as they pass thru walls and to the attic) are leaking (thus showing that the system is undercharged), the thermostat would detect such and give an error code. But no alerts or error code(s). When the unit is cooling (fan blower is on), there is a loud, annoying noise coming from one of the two return vents. When at night, being quiet, the noise is so loud that we can not stand it and takes us longer to fall asleep.Asking the install company to investigate/resolve an issue is like asking for a discount after you already paid them for the service - after being paid for their service, they are gone/done with you! Making things worse, calling Tranes customer service is just a joke - long wait time, untrained / uninformed customer service people. The company does not have any tech support. The company does not have a field rep like other HVAC manufacturers do. You get ZERO support from this company and you will immediately feel unwelcome when talking to them.As a result, we have nowhere to go, no help from Trane at all!!! Their response was call your installer or an authorized Trane dealer for help. Well, calling another dealer for service, after you tell them you had a brand new system installed a week ago, they will shy away (not wanting to deal with another installers flaws). Trane knows that and they do not care. This is TOTALLY unacceptable! Folks, this is a bad company, PERIOD!! Think twice before you buy their products. This has been an ongoing nightmare... cannot cool the house efficiently and cannot sleep at night from the noise. All of these because of Trane (an unorganized company making flawed products and providing zero tech support)! SHAME ON YOU TRANE!

We replaced our aging Goodman (18+ years) air conditioner with a new Trane XR17 5 ton unit; in the process also changing the condenser, coils & furnace with Trane units. Our old unit was beginning to show its age with frequent breakdowns (but no compressor failure yet) so we decided to go with a installer recommended system. The units were installed by AC Advance of Houston, on February 3rd, 2018 - during winter. Total bill $8400. With the coming of summer in Houston, the air conditioner was switched on - and the ac compressor failed after just 1 week of usage, on 1st April 2018! Not quite what would be expected from a premium brand like Trane.Right now we are stuck in a limbo. I have requested that the ac be replaced by a new unit - since I consider that the unit was new enough when it failed that I should get a new one. The installer is willing to pick it up and install for free - if we can get one. The local distributor for Trane - Hunton Distribution - has shrugged it off by saying that at best we can get a compressor replacement. I have reached out to Tranes warranty replacement - and they are doing due diligence and thorough review of our request. Meanwhile we are sweltering in the Houston heat and humidity while we wait for them to decide on our request. I will update once I hear back from Trane.

My wife and I purchased a 2500 sf. home in 2011 that was equipped with 2 Trane HVAC systems. The home was designed to operate with 2 systems to provide adequate airflow for both 1st & 2nd floors and to eliminate the excessive wear & tear of only relying on 1 unit to do the job. To this point, I have never owned a home that was equipped with a Trane product, but have always heard great things. We actually thought we were getting a little Peace of Mind because of the feedback weve heard about the Trane brand, but Peace of Mind was the last thing we received. Our opinion about Trane products took a turn for the worst last week when I noticed that the AC system sounded slightly louder than usual. My first instinct was to check the vents for airflow, which there was no cold ac coming out. When I checked the main HVAC unit, I noticed the lines were frozen (usually means low Freon or better yet, a Freon leak). At this point I called a reputable AC company to come out, fix the leak and recharge the system. When the technician arrived he began troubleshooting the system and discovered there was severely more problems with the unit than originally expected. When the technician opened the unit he noticed that there was excessive corrosion to the internal parts, which also needed to be repaired. After a full survey of my ac system the technician told me that I have 2 choices: Option 1, repair the defective internal parts which was quoted at $2,600.00 or Option 2 Replace the entire AC system for about $6,000.00. I called Trane to inquire about any warranty offering and the lady kindly informed me that my unit was not covered.Im not a detractor of the Trane brand because of the quoted cost of repair, I am completely aware of the Cost of Ownership and maintenance cost. Im a detractor of the brand because the product performance/life expectancy does not meet the companys product message. There is a certain level of expectations that consumers have when they spend their additional money for a premium product. Being a first time Trane owner and having had my first experience working with Tranes customer service, I can honestly say I have ZERO interest in ever owning another Trane. I will try to load pictures of my A/C system to accurately reflect its condition. Externally, the system looks brand new. Internally, well, that is a different story.

We have 11 Trane furnaces installed in a house built 7 years ago. We have replaced 5 evaporator coils and now have another one we have to replace. The excuse we hear is that this was a manufacturing problem where copper was used instead of aluminum. There are tons of problems itemized on the internet related to quality problems. Every time we replace one, it costs $1,300 and all we get are excuses. Ill tell whoever will listen that they should not buy Trane products. I have never had a problem with any furnaces in any home we have ever lived in, which has been two previous homes (one for 10 years and another for 27 years). No interest from anyone from Trane to provide any assistance or demonstrate any interest in helping to reduce the cost and accept responsibility for faulty engineering design. Im actually surprised that there has not been a class action lawsuit filed since it is common knowledge that there was a major engineering design flaw.

Trane unit cost $4,000 and is continuously breaking down. I bought this Trane home AC system 3 years ago. It stopped working last summer because the oil in the compressor was incorrect from the manufacturer based on the HVAC repair company I bought the unit from. They changed it out and it has worked this season until now. Out of nowhere the unit has frozen up and shut down. My last system was a Comfortmaker and lasted 28 years without any major breakdowns. Can someone tell me exactly what the problem is with TRANE equipment???

We purchased a new Trane A/C 16 months ago and have had a few small problems. Now our A/C has quit working due to a coolant leak. Paid $349 for a leak test only to find out the leak is in the evaporator coils in the air handler. The part is under warranty but labor to replace it will be $999. I spoke to a Trane representative thinking they should foot at least a portion of the bill because if their product worked correctly I would never be in this position. They adamantly refused to consider even paying anything, intimating that it was the environment or installation that caused the problem. We had our last air conditioner 15 years before having any service problems and have barely made it a year with this unit. This will be my last Trane purchase.

Purchased the Trane furnace 6 years ago. This summer when I came in the house from outside my whole house was full of smoke. I ran around looking for the fire and found nothing. A month later last week exactly when it got cold I went to run my furnace and it didnt work. When I went down and opened the panel I could smell the same smoke I smelt that day and there was my circuit board all black and melted. When I called the company who installed it (Masters) they came out and said the board was under warranty but the labor was going to be $300. Sounds cheap. But NO ONE can tell me why it caught on fire. So I told Masters I wasnt going to pay them to put in another circuit board because it could have BURNED MY WHOLE HOUSE DOWN. Their response was call Trane and let them deal with it. So I called Trane and the first question they ask is did I have it professionally serviced every year. I replied no but had heater coils replaced under warranty after just 3 years. Now I sit here waiting on Trane to tell me whats up and where we go from here. But I already know their answer and I told them dont even try and tell since I didnt have it serviced regularly its my fault, because had you WARNED me that if I didnt have it professionally serviced IT MIGHT CATCH FIRE I would NEVER have bought it. So after just 6 years here I sit with no furnace and no resolution. Now every time I call Trane, they say were working on it and well call you back. They have no intention of fixing it. So I called Masters back and said go ahead and replace the board and Ill pay the $300 BUT IF THE FURNACE CATCHES FIRE and burns down my house Im suing both Trane and you. The owner of Masters then says, NO THANKS. WERE NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN COMING BACK TO SERVICE IT. I said, Why are you worried it will catch fire? I mean if its safe whats the big deal? Both Trane and Masters heating and air are crooked and in this together to screw over the consumers knowing they GOT PROBLEMS they arent telling their buyers about when the purchase is made. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER FURNACE MAKER AS both Trane and Masters could care less for our SAFETY and cares if we lose everything. Of course all they are going to say is THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. So I ask if you have had a circuit board melt or catch fire please let me know. I know I am not the only one with this SERIOUS problem.

4 years ago the Trane condenser burned out. The air handler was also replaced with similar units. They too burned out after one week. A third unit was installed and I was told they were units made in China...so now after 3 new units failing they installed a Rheem unit for the air handler and a Trane for the condenser. The condenser just burned out again, and I am told the same thing. Made in China...or Mexico?? Anyhow that is 4 units in 4 years...and my system is clean and all new.

Our home was built in 2002 and completed in October. We have a closed loop geothermal system with 3 zones. Each zone has a heat pump and a Trane air handler. The system works well and weve had good heating and cooling for 9 1/2 years with low electric bills (thanks to geothermal). We have a 3 visit per year contract with the company that installed our system and have been generally pleased with this service. The first air handler failed after 4 years due to an evaporative coil leak. It was replaced under warranty (with plenty of labor costs). The second one had the same problem shortly after the 5-year warranty expired. It was replaced at full cost. The third unit now requires replacement at less than 9 1/2 years old due to another evaporative coil leak. 3 out of 3! That€s a definite strike out for Trane. All 3 air handlers are indoors in clean protected environments and have had the units serviced 3 times per year. Our much cheaper heat pump that we had in our previous house in TX (with air handler in a blazing hot attic) never had a coil leak. The electric bills were a lot more, but there were no failures in 13 years.

In April 2015 we purchased what we believed to be a quality XV20i €TruComfort System€. We spent $17,500. From the beginning, our electric bills increased during times when temperatures are below freezing. We have had sleepless nights due to the loud compressor noise and the system runs 24 hours a day at times. The coils ice up so badly that the ice build up extends out of the side vents and into the fan compartment. We have to resort to our emergency heat unit as the fan blades hit the ice and cannot function. We wait until the unit thaws out with above freezing temps. Our HVAC company has been out multiple times and says all sensor readings are normal and basically don€t know how to fix our problem. Again we have paid for multiple service calls, the most recent $294 with no resolution. Unlike others, I have not attempted to call Trane, as it seems impossible to get help. Our local dealer promises to take care of us, but my faith is dwindling. We work hard for our dollars just like the rest, and it is very frustrating to spend this kind of money on a product that does not live up to its name. It is like robbery.

I had a unit installed 4 1/2 years ago. I paid over 7k for the unit installed. Since that time I have required someone coming out at least every 6 months for a new issue. Each time having extra cost and fees associated. Last month 500 bucks for an issue, this month a coil needs replaced. Although the cost of the coil itself is covered by Tranes warrenty, the cost is still almost 1300 in charges for labor and coolant replacement. I would never purchase another Trane. Be sure and negotiate a warrenty which includes all associated labor and service charges in a purchase of an a/c when getting one and dont get a Trane.

We purchased a Trane HVAC system in 2006 for our new home. The home was not occupied until mid 2007 so the unit was not in use until then. The air conditioner is XL14i and the gas heater is unit XV90. Since then we have spent well over $2000 in labor costs to keep the unit running. The control board was replaced twice, once in June 2012 and again in March 2013. We came to learn this was due to a design flaw. We have had switches and contacts replaced several times, and are now in the process of having to have the coils replaced. Each time we have had to pay labor costs. We went to Trane and asked for reimbursement of labor for the control boards since it was an obvious design flaw. The same is true of the coils now being replaced. We were flatly turned down the first time, and I am sure we will be turned down again. I have no problem paying labor costs for a part that wears out, but when the problem is design the company should be liable. Take my advice. NEVER buy a Trane. It is a piece of garbage. We have spent several days last summer and this summer with no AC, and this past winter when the heat didnt work because of the control board issue. Fifty eight degrees is not a comfortable temperature in your house. I am angry and disgusted that a company that advertises you cant stop a Trane is so poor at standing behind their product.

I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old
I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old with two Trane Air Conditioner units. I received a 1-year buyers warranty for the house as part of the sales contract. As the summer heat started, we noticed the air conditioners were not working well. We contacted the warranty company for service. After a couple of checks including freon refill, they finally found out that there is a leakage in the main unit and the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. They said the unit is still under manufacturer warranty and asked me to directly contact Trane to receive a new evaporator coil and the warranty company agreed to follow up with the labor. I reached out to Trane but they said my warranty expired because I had to contact them within 90 days of purchasing the house. I have explained to them that I was never informed by anyone about this requirement, and I even did not know the brand of my air conditioner until there was a problem with it, but they did not accept. That is totally unreasonable, how can a home buyer know about this rule? This is just a way for them to get away from their warranty duties. I hope this review will help some people to know about this rule so that they can reach out to transfer the warranty within 90 days.

My nine year old XV90 Trane furnace leaks water and two different contractors concluded that the heat exchanger is cracked. Even though the heat exchanger has a lifetime warranty, it will not be honored by Trane because that piece for my model is discontinued. As a result, they will only offer a credit of $360 for that towards a new Trane furnace. For a piece that is the heart and soul of the machine, that amount of credit is simply laughable since it would cost a lot more than that if purchased out in the market. Therefore, this lifetime Trane warranty is simply misleading to say the least. For now there is no resolution other than me shopping for a new furnace and I will never buy a Trane product due to this fiasco of a lifetime warranty.

We purchased a new Trane heat and air system for our home nearly a year ago. We wanted the best and top of the line so we wouldn€t have to worry about problems. Paid a high price for the package for our up and downstairs. Within 3-4 months we realized we had an odd smell coming from the vents and after several visits we find out both units had Dirty Socks syndrome (Yep that€s for real). After several visits and attempts to fix this bacteria growing on the coils, they had to replace coils on both units with epoxy coated coils. Thinking now after 6-9 months of problems we should be good, a week before our warranty was up the condenser for the upstairs unit went out and Trane wouldn€t replace the entire compressor unit, only the condenser, so our heating and air company, knowing all the problems, replaced the entire compressor unit at their expense! We would never buy another Trane and will never recommend them after this experience!!!

I purchased a new Trane system XL16i May 2015. This May (2016) the unit was not working properly. The company that installed it first said it was the reversing valve that was not operating properly so they had to install another one. Then it still was not working properly and they said it was the compressor now that had to be placed. We have been w/o a/c for over a week now. After having my condenser coil replaced at a labor cost of 928.00 on my 5 and a half yr old 2.5 Ton XR13 I contacted Trane consumer affairs to see if they would cover some or all the labor costs. They took my info and told me it would have to go before a review board. 2 weeks later a Trane rep contacted me, denied my claim stating I did not have a service contract at a cost of 160.00 dollars a yr (which I now have) and if it was up to him he would not have warrantied the condenser coil. I explained to him the tech that replaced the unit identified the leak at the bottom of the coil and the vibration could have caused it to leak. I wasnt expecting much from him after he denied my claim, he is being paid by Trane to deny claims.. he probably gets a bonus for it. In September 2009, I had an XL 15 Trane Heat Pump and air handler installed in my new home. In June of 2012, it was diagnosed with a leaking evaporator coil. The new coil was ordered and it was installed on June 19, 2012. I was presented a bill by the service tech for $960. The evaporator coil was under warranty, but I had to pay the shipping of $100 for the new coil and the return shipping of $100 for the old coil. I called the Trane representative for this area and he stated that he had no knowledge of any problem with their evaporator coils. Basically he said that it was too bad and offered no help at all. A well respected HVAC installer turned on our Trane Heat Pump for the first time today, Nov. 16, 2012, as our new home was being completed. Within 15 minutes, it exploded and caught fire and if our contractor had left 5 minutes earlier, our home would have burned to the ground. Fortunately, he was able to put out the fire, but within minutes it would have been out of control. This evening we read reviews of Trane Heat Pumps that consistently complain of poor service, poor quality, numerous repairs, even a report of one previous fire. It appears that this company is doing nothing to stand behind their products and correct serious problems.

I had a new Trane HVAC unit installed three years ago after having nothing but problems for years with the original unit that came with the new house I bought. Total cost $1400 so far. When I talked to Trane they wont cover anything but replace the TXV which I have to pay to be installed. Due to it failing I have to pay for the Freon, and due to it blocking the line it caused a leak in the line, I have to pay for it to be repaired. TRANE claims to be the best there is, IT IS JUNK. Presently the unhappy owner of a Trane XE 90 - which was reported to be the best available by several dealers at the time of purchase. Over a period of the most recent 6 years this Trane unit has consumed $2,061.50 in parts and labor costs which consisted of a blower motor, four control boards, a flame rollout switch, a heat exchanger, a new thermostat and, just yesterday, $339 for the (20 minutes actual labor time) replacement of a $29.72 igniter. The control board was constantly being diagnosed, by Trane service representatives, as the problem with erratic heat and blower start up. After the third control board replacement, I contacted the White Rodgers Engineer that designed the board and he arrived our home, removed the board, installed a new one then took two of the old boards to their lab. Findings were that there is something else going on with the furnace so they contacted Trane.Trane sent their service representative to check our furnace out - after which a new heat exchanger was installed along with a flame rollout switch. The furnace has not run right for 6 years now and just yesterday it quit igniting. The local Trane repair service charged me $75 for a part that was priced by an internet retailer at $29.72. The labor cost was $309.28 for the technician who arrived at 3:50 p.m. and was out of our driveway at 4:15 p.m. Needless to say, this is $742.27 per hour which is 3.7 times the hourly cost of the surgeon that did my triple heart bypass surgery. I agree that Trane, and their service network, are probably the poorest example of product reliability and service on the U.S. market. I am of the belief that Trane owners are victims of being sold a bad product that technicians can not properly repair and Trane should be held accountable to their product owners as defendant in a class action law suit.

I enjoy my two variable speed Trane units. They are quiet and very efficient. After replacing old (23 years) units (also by Trane), I noticed that the electric bill dropped by $50-60 / month in summer time and $20-30 in wintertime. I live in Arizona and the electric bill in summer was $400+. Now it is less than $350. But the best feature is that when the AC unit starts there is no "boom" noise, when the unit starts. What you can hear is just a soft whisper when cool air starts breezing in. I installed one, and 2 years later another one - both Trane. I have two floors, each floor is regulated by one unit. One unit is already 5 years old, another is 2, I signed up for a maintenance service plan, so far no problems at all. Trane seems to be an expensive brand, but I spoke with installers and they say that it is worth the money. I would recommend it - at least to consider - when replacing a unit for a new one.

We bought our Trane unit about 6 years ago... First, let me start by saying that Tranes slogan Nothing runs like a Trane is accurate! Although, a bit misleading because this thing runs worse than anything weve had previously! First, the compressor went out a year after install, charged for freon and told it was a defect... Trane still fought me on trying to charge for the compressor! Next, thermal switch went out, was told we dont change our filters enough... What, twice a month aint good enough for a freakin Trane?!? Now, weve got clogging in the Condensation drain system... Enough condensation to flood my sons bedroom! Reason for the clog: Reduced ID on the drain tube and a negative gravity feed which collects sludge and clogs. Dont know what school of thought these guys have, but honestly would it hurt to have a free flowing drain system under the tray? Instead of relying on these bozos, Im going to just retube the entire drain tray and fix their crap right. When youre looking for an A/C unit, look here, look there, look everywhere but stay the heck away from Trane! Theyre bad news, problematic and worthless!

We recently purchased 2 new Trane roof mounted air conditioner units installed by very experienced company. Both (separate sides of home) failed soon after installation. The copper tubing came apart at joints from defective weld joints and all freon leaked out and house got very hot in Arizona sun with senior citizens and grandchildren on several occasions. Repair persons came and had to weld defective joints in several places. Now the units are not cooling again and apparently the joints are detaching again - leaking freon into the atmosphere again. We heard from AC repair company this is happening many times around Phoenix and they are running from house to house on these units - Trane model # 4whc3042a1000aa - I will file claim in Scottsdale Small Claims Court in near future.

No he tenido ningún problema con él.

Its getting old explaining to people why their blower motors fail within a year, coils leak within a year, white flakes from aluminum coils comes out of the vents etc. Trane also had a Model of air handler that had drain pans as brittle as egg shells. This isnt just Trane either. We service all makes and most use the same ECM motor, same chinese sourced copper and aluminum for coils, etc. I miss 20 years ago when a service call was a legitimate problem and didnt require an EXCUSE as to why things failed.

I bought a brand new heat pump system from Trane. The Certified Contractor who installed the unit was excellent, I have no issues with them. My brand new unit lasted less than 3 years at the beach. Please allow me to repeat less than 3 years, and Trane refused to stand behind their product. The unit actually rusted completely through in less than 3 years. I would highly suggest you never buy from Trane because they do not stand behind their own product. Do yourself a favor and skip all the headaches, DO NOT BUY A TRANE PRODUCT. I NEVER WILL AGAIN!

My home in SW Florida was built in 1967. Any HVAC system will have a challenge keeping up with the humidity and high temps here. My Trane AC system is 6 years old. It performs pretty well for the most part. I use cheap filters that allow the system breath and I replace them every month. Don€t waste money on expensive filters unless you have serious allergies. Thick filters make the AC work harder and will wear out the equipment.General maintenance is easy and I am diligent about keeping the outside unit clean. I use a spray bottle with watered down Dawn dish soap and a garden hose. I regularly clear the drain pipe with my shop vac. I had a routine check-up recently from my home maintenance provider (HomeTech - I highly recommend) and asked the tech why cold air is blowing out of the crevices around the maintenance doors and bolts on my air handler. Plain and simple, it is a design flaw. He said he sees it all the time on Trane units.I called Trane to find out if there was a replacement part for the casing or a recommended remedy. It was a runaround... All they would tell me is to call my dealer to evaluate the problem. That would cost me $119 for somebody to come out and say, €yep, there€s cold air leaking from the air handler into your garage. Ill call Trane and get back to you.€ Parts are covered, but there was no evidence of parts available. Please! My solution was Gorilla tape and bubble wrap to cut down the loss of cold air. It worked, but it really shouldn€t be so difficult to get a straight answer and a fair solution. I paid a lot of money for my AC system. I didn€t expect to be patching it myself. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Trane XB14 Weathertron. I purchased a brand new Trane 3T-15 Seer Air Condit
Trane XB14 Weathertron. I purchased a brand new Trane 3T-15 Seer Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Unit from a reputable company who recommended this unit and completed the install May 2011. Ive been with this A/C company since I moved to Florida 18 years ago, so I trusted their recommendation. I was told Trane was the top of the line and worth paying more to have the best, peace of mind, 10 year warranty if registered within 60 days, etc. Its been nothing but a costly nightmare once the 5 year mark was reached and the 10 year warranty ended up NOT being what was sold to me. Even though the company has been good about some of the items that were supposed to be 10 years, they have haggled with me and TRANE over what is actually covered on the warranty and the period of time. CRAZY! CRAZY!With this major purchase, you would expect to get more than 5 years out of a system without spending additional major $$$. The following are my repairs/replacements since May 2016 to date: EFC control board, capacitor, condenser coil (plus R410 to replace what was lost), another trip to fix a R410 leak as a result of when the condenser coil was replaced, replaced entire circuit board, new blower relay, and thermometer all within a 3 year period. Keep in mind, that not only do you pay for labor to install the warranted item, each visit is a service/diagnostics fee.Today, my system runs constantly causing very high energy bills because the A/C simply cant keep up with the outside temps -- called for service and after diagnosing the units for 1.5 hours, they tell me they cant find anything wrong. The AC Guy told me that they just dont make Trane Units like they used to!! Im very disappointed in Trane products, I wish I would have read these reviews before taking the recommendation of a company I trust, and certainly dont recommend purchasing a TRANE to anyone. Very Disappointed!

Im writing this review in regards to Trane air conditioning and heating unit that we purchased in 2015. Just after having unit for six months we had to replace the compressor unit outside. I continue to make calls to the installers of this unit regarding the air-conditioner not cooling. After coming to our house six different times to service the air-conditioner and installing Freon in the unit multiple times. We were told our air-conditioner now require new evaporator coils. The cost would be $995. I then decided to get another opinion of what was wrong with our air conditioner. Each person I had look at the unit had something different to tell me about what was wrong with it. I then decided to call the Trane manufacturer. They gave me a name of a Trane dealer teams. So I called them. They came out, told us that we needed to have the Expansion valve replaced. We did. That was $350, That didnt fix the unit so they had to do a complete unit inspection and have a trane support team tell them what was wrong with it. Now we need evaporator coils replaced. Now its another $950. This air-conditioner is less than two years old and weve had nothing but problems. Trane Will not stand behind their product. Do not buy a Trane.

Bought new furnace and quit working after 2 months - pipes froze due to 20 degrees cold. Igniter rod bad and technician replaced with new $15 different rod and works fine since. Tech said they had 2-3 other new Trane furnaces with same problem - Trane should have done a recall! Had $3000 in damage and Trane would not cover it!

I was a Trane dealer in the new home market. Profit on these jobs are minimal and are eaten up by problems with equipment warranty. I didnt have many problems with the R-22, 13 seer equipment. When I moved to R410a, we had several expansion valve failures. I had to eat the cost of replacing the part, which was mileage, travel time and labor. When my builder pushed me to sell the 15 seer Tranes with 410a refrigerant, hell broke loose. These indoor coils are very thin and are highly susceptible to formicary corrosion from drywall, carpet and various new home products. Trane refused to acknowledge the problem and I replaced $28,000 worth of evaporator coils in 2012. I had to jump through hoops to prove the leaks existed in order to receive a warranty coil and was unable to get any assistance from Trane to recoup my expense to make things right with the customer. These coils would be a little over a year old typically, just out of labor warranty. Now most customers laughed at buying the extended labor warranty at installation and I could have charged for the labor to replace the coil. However, I dont have the mind of large corporations, so I would eat the cost to make it right by the customer. Trane quietly tried treating the coils to resolve the issue. Now they dont leak. Now they stink. When I walked from Trane, I was being called out a lot on coils that would run you out of the house with dirty sock syndrome. This is a problem that requires extensive work to remedy the problem. I had enough and walked away from Trane. Keep in mind this is in new modular homes. I cant say I had the same issues in older homes. Buy the extended warranty if you buy Trane. Labor costs of $900 to replace a coil or expansion valve are true when you think about everything that must be accomplished to accomplish the job. A variable speed motor or motor end change is several hundred dollars as well. One repair justifies a warranty and the annual service check cost. Remember that the guy fixing your unit isnt the guy who drove to Mexico and built it. It costs a lot of money to drive that mobile shop up and down the road to your house. The heat pump in your backyard works harder than anything you own. Take care of it. Your elected government/party makes no difference, has dictated units to meet high efficiency standards. The units are more sophisticated than ever and costs are going up a lot faster than your pay raise. Be careful of the HVAC company you call to service your unit. Parts and equipment sales are the goal of a good number of companies - large or small. If you price shop for cheap, then you are cheap and get what you deserve. Now is the time to ask your co-workers and neighbors who they recommend, not when you are broken down, looking online for someone you know nothing about. If you find a company that treats you well, shout it from the rooftop. You may save a neighbor some anguish.

We bought a Trane heat pump about 6 years ago based on dealer recommendations and advertisements. Within the first 3 years every part except the cover was replaced under warranty. Since then we spent about $200 every quarter on repairs. The piece of crap is now 6 years old and the quarterly repairs just keep getting higher. I will never buy another Trane. Based on my experience it is a total piece of crap that cost more than any other product I have ever owned. We replaced a Goodman that I thought was expensive. When we replace this piece of crap Ill buy another Goodman and gladly pay the repair bills. My personal advice DO NOT BUY A TRANE!!!

Had new Trane XL20i Heat Pump installed 10/20/2010. July 2014 Air Handle evaporator leaked, repaired. Then Condenser became erratic, low-pressure issues, numerous service calls, more parts replaced. Left for summer to NJ from FL, came back, low-speed compressor fried. Trane will not assist. Installer is a good company, and Trane simply tells us what we need to hear.First they tell you the service company need to contact distributor then service company tells you that not the way it works. Mentioned to Trane representative Alex, that the inconsistencies between service company understanding and Tranes position leaves me with no options. Want condenser system replaced and mention consumer affairs massive number of reviews complaining and they will no longer talk to you. It is time someone take the lead and file a class action lawsuit as there is a pattern here. I will purchase alternative equipment in the future. Nice going Trane!

I utilized Lowes in Dec 2013 for the purchase of a total heating/air condit
I utilized Lowes in Dec 2013 for the purchase of a total heating/air conditioning system to include new ducts throughout the house in the attic. This work was subcontracted by Lowe€s using a local Heating&Air company (H&A). (I dont know if allowed to say their names). The work was done 6 Jan 2014 through 10 Jan 2014. Feb 4 2014 notified H&A heat pump covered inside and outside with solid ice, came and repaired. Feb 7 2014 H&A tech here as froze again. Feb 9 2014 I called and was told defroster ordered. Feb 13 2014 I called H&A they said they are supposed to expedite the part and defroster is on back order. Feb 17 2014 H&A here and changed defroster. Feb 21 2014 H&A replaced sensor and defroster from icing. Feb 28, 2014 I called H&A heat pump again iced up. 2 March 2014 I notified H&A heat pump fan hitting ice. 4 March 2014 H&A said defroster coming through Customs and should be here end of week or next week. 17 March 2014 H&A said defroster in yesterday (16th March). 18 March H&A changed thermostat in heat pump. June 27 2015 18:55 a/c not working called H&A, was told a tech will call. 19:16 Tech informed he was on another call and would be here next. 21:00 Tech here. Low on Freon. Found leak in air handler coils. He said someone will call Monday to let me know if they have part or will need to order. He replaced Freon. June 29 2015 did not hear from H&A. June 30 2015 11:07 am I called H&A and was told part had to be ordered and should be in tomorrow or Thursday. 14:00pm AC running and room temp at 77 degrees and increasing. Thermostat set at 72 degrees. Turned off AC and have fan on. 2 July 2015 14:18 pm I called H&A and was told part not in yet. 3 July 2015 14:40pm I again called H&A and got recording machine, I did not know they were not opened. 14:47pm I called and left msg with H&A that I again have had no ac all week and no one has bothered to call me to update me on what is going on. I said I would appreciate an update first thing Monday morning since the office is closed today.6 July 2015 11:30 Received call from H&A, he said he will try and track down where part is and call me back. 11:40 am H&A called and said it was on the dock in Little Rock and to be delivered today and H&A will install it tomorrow afternoon. I told him that if it isnt there then someone needs to put Freon in. 7 July 2015 H&A called and said truck driver with parts was in an accident and she was trying to find where part was. She said something about install tomorrow and I told her someone needs to come today and put Freon in today. I also informed her I have a mountain dog and the heat can kill her. She said someone will be here today to either install the part of put Freon in. Currently 95 degrees inside house and 90 degrees outside.7 July @17:10 Tech shows up to add Freon, he does not have part, said was almost empty of Freon. 17:33 still filling with Freon, house 86 degrees. I voiced to tech that I was very upset, that for 12 days and still no part and I had to call to find out any information and I was left without ac for so long. 17:43 completed filling with Freon and left. 8 July 2015 14:30pm one worker here and waiting for another to bring coil. 14:40 other guy here with coil. 16:30 replaced coil and added Freon and left10 July 2015 10:57 am Spoke with H&A and informed her ac set at 70 degrees and in 77 degrees in house, ac not functioning again. She said someone will be out this afternoon to look at it. 11:07 I called and informed H&A that there was fresh water on the wooden platform the air handler sits on. She said to turn off ac and turn on fan- I did this. 14:30 took dog to be boarded, she was lethargic and no ac in house. 15:33 H&A called and said hed be here in 20 minutes. 15:55 Tech here, after he looked over unit I asked what was wrong with it. He said a valve on the coils failed. 16:26 he went to pick up valve at Trane. 18:41 he completed replacing valve and left. 12 July 2015 10:40am called H&A after hours number and told her ac not functioning set at 70 degrees and 77 degrees in house. She said someone will call.11:23 received call from H&A will be here in 20 minutes. 11:25 boarded my dog, very lethargic. 11:47 tech here, said more than half Freon leaked out, recharging unit. 13:00 said leak at junction of heat pump compressor and he could patch it. I said that was NOT acceptable. This is a new unit and not even two years old and patching is not acceptable. I said Trane can replace both units at their expense, poor quality equipment. I said I cannot deal with this anymore and had to walk away. Tech said he will call his boss. 13:20 Tech said his boss would want him to patch leak so that I have air until they can deal with Trane regarding replacement. He did not know how long that would take. He is currently patching leak on outside unit. I told him this is causing me too much stress and I cannot deal with it. I will be seeking what legal avenues I have in the state of Arkansas. I have spent too much money and received inferior parts. 13:48 one of H&A owners called, and said they will talk to Trane tomorrow and will demand Trane do something and he will call me tomorrow. He said he will make it right. He also said he thinks I got a lemon and will push for new equipment. I told him I wanted inside and outside units replaced at Tranes expense. 14:30 Tech finished patching and recharging and left.
