I just moved in to a brand new house that had a Viking Range. I like the range except that its really hard to clean because it has all kinds of cracks and crevices and its hard to get food debris out of it.
We bought the Viking Series 7 48â Dual fuel range with the ViChrome griddle for our remodel. The range looks really good, unfortunately we need one that works as well. Let me start with what works well. The burners are very nice, delivering consistent heat. The stove top is easy to clean with few nooks and crannies. Now for the things that donât work well. The ViChrome griddle looks good but a horrible surface to cook on. The only thing that doesnât stick like superglue to the surface is pancakes, as long as we use ghee. Any other fat or oil does not work at all. The surface is very difficult to clean. The griddle itself has a problem that there is a high temperature difference between front and back. The back will burn things while the front will undercook. Only about a 6â piece of the griddle cooks at the set temp. I had the workings of the griddle changed out by Viking service but it did not change a thing. We gave up using it as itâs not worth the trouble.By far the biggest disappointments are the two electric ovens. There is also a large temp difference between front and back of the ovens, upwards of 10 degrees. This too was addressed by Viking service but no change. The only way to get even cooking is to manually rotate the dish. The convection fan sounds like a jet engine and makes this very large range shake. Viking service replaced the fan in the larger oven but it shakes now more than ever. We gave up using the convection ovens as the noise and shaking are just too much to stomach particularly given the $15,000 price tag. Finally, each oven has a heating element at the top which shuts off when oven reaches temperature, unfortunately it will kick on during cooking when oven is at temp and proceed to burn whatever it is we are cooking. I lost count of how many dishes have been ruined by this. We have to watch the heating element constantly to insure the dishes donât burn. The range looks great, but what a huge disappointment. I am a second generation Viking customer, growing up with the older models that built the great Viking name. There will not be a third generation Viking customer in my family. There are better products out there a 1/4th the price.
I like Vikings quality, and bought a range from a guy in Israel. So far, the range has been fine and the quality of the product is great.
I saw Viking in other peoples home and Ive heard about it before. I liked the look or their design. My builder bought the Viking refrigerator when I moved to the new construction five years ago. The refrigerator part is okay. I like the shelving and the refrigerator is very spacious. The look of the refrigerator looks great and looks very modern. Functional-wise, its a big refrigerator and it has a lot of space, but other than that, its just a refrigerator. Also, I had an issue with the freezer recently. It has a drain pipe to a pan underneath it to drain water. The pipe got blocked and there was icing there. I had the repair service to repair it. I learned from the service guy that I need to do maintenance every year to move the refrigerator out and then its back to prevent any blockage. I had a bit of interaction with the vendor and their service was okay, although it will be helpful if the appliance dealer could have a stronger service department.I have about everything from Viking. I also have a dishwasher, microwave, range, and the hood above the range, but the dishwasher has many problems. It has been serviced by the technician three or four times already. When I had the dishwasher problem, I called the service company and it took seven to 10 days for them to show up. Sometimes I had to wait for a long time for them to show up. I may not want to buy Viking at all because although I had good experience with the refrigerator and everything else, if one has a problem, I may have to buy another different set. I need to have matching appliances. Viking has to take care of everything including the one that I have a bad experience with, the dishwasher.
I like my Viking Range very much. I like the design and the ruggedness, and just the reputation they have. My favorite feature of my range is the six-burner top. I had one service call under warranty on it and it was a very simple and easy fix. If I ever move, Ill buy another one.
Ive had a couple of Viking Refrigerators and it got one compressor on it. For its price its a good refrigerator. I bought it to keep my food cold. When I ordered it, I knew what I wanted. I did my research, I went in and bought it. While its a professional-looking refrigerator I wish it had two compressors -- one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Id recommend it still to a friend.
Back in 2013, I was going to do a remodel to my house kitchens with a centerpiece. It was gonna be open to all of the appliances and weâre going to be in view in the open area. I was looking for a bit more than the GEs but thereâs quite a few to choose from and Viking was close. The Viking range is excellent. Itâs the leader of the pack and weâre so happy with it. The burners can be quickly assembled for cleaning purposes and I like their layout. The range is very serviceable, very durable, and the oven is fantastic. The racks in the oven are extremely easy to move and work with, very heavy and it gives me a lot of confidence working with them. The stove has a dent in the back for the heat to come out and that creates a primary heat in the backslash. I donât think thereâs another stove out there that would beat Viking but theyâve got to get rid of the heat somewhere. There was absolutely no service calls on the range. Itâs been perfect and itâs amazing.
I like the quality of the Viking and they seemed to be the only one of the few who had the type of configuration we wanted. Our Viking fridge is great and it works well for what we need. It has a lot of space, and the space is very well designed overall. I bought the unit at Pacific Sales in Best Buy, and it took a while to order a Viking from them. The dealer doesnât usually have them in stocks. I had to wait for two weeks for them to be available. The installation process was a bit of a journey of its own. The people in the store did their best but they are not very knowledgeable about what exactly was needed for the installation. But the people who installed the unit were really knowledgeable. They came to my house four times, so I got to know them a bit. What they do is they install high-end appliances, and theyre the ones who know exactly what needs to be done and in what order. So, I think it will be better if customers like us can speak to somebody that is knowledgeable after we purchased, so they can tell us exactly what to do because theres a complexity in terms of the water line and where the power outlet needs to be.So, this company came to my house four times during the course of two weeks. One time, we were missing a part. And then they came, and they couldnât install it because we didnât have the right cabinet dimensions in. I, as a consumer, could have saved a lot of time if I just had one phone call with somebody who would explain things to me and give me the specific details. When you buy a piece of equipment that is $12,000, a phone call like that should be granted. If I was buying a $1,000 refrigerator, I wouldnât expect that type of service. Other than that, Im very satisfied with the product and I would recommend Viking.
This is the worst refrigerator that Ive ever purchased. We ordered all of our Viking appliances while our kitchen was being remodeled. It arrived on February of this year, when our new kitchen remodel was finished. After delivery, I saw that the refrigerator doors were not parallel to each other. From then on I kept on calling them so they could fix it. They finally fixed it but then again the freezer started frosting very badly. So I called them again, after 2 weeks I received the new part and they finally came and installed a new part for freezer. So now my refrigerator started frosting again. I keep telling them that this refrigerator needs to be exchanged but they just keep sending me a technician to come fix it. They cant. I made a big mistake getting the Viking refrigerator.
I purchased Viking appliances in November 2009 - dishwasher, refrigerator, stove. My dishwasher has not been working since the beginning of July 2013 despite 4 visits by a tech and numerous phone calls to the extended warranty company and Viking. It was also repaired in 2010 and 2011. My refrigerator is also on its third repair and is failing to keep a consistent temperature... It is either freezing food or else keeping food in the 40-42 degree range. These are marketed as Professional appliances and certainly do not live up to this reputation. I discourage all consumers from purchasing Viking appliances... They come with a hefty price tag and leave the consumer frustrated, disillusioned and dissatisfied.
Im writing this letter in hopes that you can help me with a continuous issue I have had with your 36 Viking Stove. My wife and I purchased a new home in 2008, at which point we decided to renovate our kitchen. When we purchased our appliances, there was no doubt in our minds we wanted a Viking Professional range and oven. We were excited and happy with our appliance for a short time until we began to use it. Over the course of 3 years, we have had nothing but constant troubles with the oven. First the igniter went twice, then the thermostat, then a defect with the range top. We have had several Viking repair visits, each costing $300 or higher. When we made the decision to buy Viking, it was with the thought in mind that paying a little more meant getting better quality, craftsmanship and dependability. Unfortunately, this has been far from the reality we have experienced. Most recently we replaced the thermostat for the baking function and the oven doesnt heat up.Needless to say, three weeks before Thanksgiving, we find ourselves with yet another service call and Im sure more costly repairs. I have done extensive research on the Internet and various consumer affairs sites and found that there has been a groundswell of complaints with your ovens. Frequent mention of inconsistent bake temperature, issues with your igniter system and thermostats lead me to believe there is a known set of defects with your product and this particular model. To that end I am asking that you stand by your product and replace the oven. An investment of $6000 should not require a constant stream of maintenance for a product that should bring with it quality and dependability. Rather than spend time posting disparaging complaints on various consumer products sites. I am asking that you address the issue I have had with your oven so I can get the quality and craftsmanship I expect.I am reaching out for your help after multiple calls to your call center and ask for someone to contact me immediately. I will pursue this issue further and if necessary rally the countless people I have seen voice concern with the range product you offer and have sold. The information for my range is Model: VGSC3676BSS, Serial #: 081108C00053266
We owned a Viking beforehand. However, when we went into their store, we were not going to consider them. But we changed our mind and continued to use the brand because we were convinced by the sales rep that they had done some serious improvements in the product and that we should always consider them. Also, we were impressed by what we saw. The Viking team was excellent as well. They had the patience to work through all my wifeâs questions and issues since she was the one that needed to be comfortable that we were making the right decision and that Viking had all the right stuff that she wanted. However, the drawers were supposed to be self-closing, but they donât close. The repair guy was here for that and for the oven.
Bought both (Viking 30 All Fridge, and Viking 30 All Freezer) as showroom models at a discount manufactured 2009 and 2006. Thought they would be under warranty. Problems began - freezer does not freeze my ice cream. They replaced the coils, the fan, the thermistor, the thermistor connector wire. And STILL it does not freeze my ice cream. I have to manually defrost the freezer, then it works ok for a week then back again. Fridge is another story. Started off randomly beeping once a month or so. So I turned off the fridge and turned it back on, and it seemed fine. That was 3 months ago. Now it does not stop beeping, and the fan does not come on. We replaced the thermistor, the powerboard and still itâs beeping. Viking has now told me it is no longer under warranty and so Im on my own. They cant understand why it beeps. Ive had 4 different technicians come out and they are at a loss. Viking does not want to speak to me, since I am not a technician, and have no warranty. Problem is, itâs not easy to replace a 60 space in the middle of the cabinets and I cant think of replacing the whole kitchen which is only 2 years old.
For my kitchen renovation, my design company that they use, Fergusons and the chain of them here in the southeast, the only ones they had everything in stock was Viking. And when I purchased the stove, I got a free dishwasher. Headquarters had to call a lot and I had to have people here all the time. They were really concerned. When you open the fridge, the drawer to pull out, which is cold and you can keep cheese and meats in it, I cut my fingers and they were concerned and had headquarters call. And then, the repair people -- everything was free -- coming out all the time from Fort Myers. The guy called it metal burrs that havent been sanded down. That was quite a worry. They called me from Mississippi. Its very rare and it just wasnt finished. And depending where you place your fingers, you could cut them on metal to open that inside drawer. So, that was a bad experience. Also, the freezer didnt shut properly and the tech had come out several times. It was the most finite adjustment on something. But I could have lost a couple of hundred bucks worth of food because the alarm kept going off. And he came and fixed it, and an hour and a half later, the alarm went off again. He thought he fixed it. So, it was really challenging for the Morale in Fort Myers to contract repair people with Viking here in this area. That was maddening. And then, the dishwasher, an extra button for quietness fell right off on the floor, and it was a glue problem. The Morale had to come again. Its free for me under warranty. It just was disconcerting and all the appliances were brand-new. I heard him talk to headquarters and he said, Yes its a glue issue. And he said, No, I cant reuse it. Its covered in labrador fur and cat hair, which as soon as it started to hang out and the labrador would walk against it and it hung down from the bottom. It didnt seem to make much difference in the quietness. Its an incredibly quiet dishwasher anyway. But they had to order a new one, so that took a while, and they had to come back and put that in. That was a surprise, all that happened right away. But everything got fixed and Ive been very pleased since. Its a super quiet dishwasher and I like the red light that shines on the floor that shows when its on.And then, all the new fridges, all brands, the alarm for the freezer and different ways to adjust the temperature of that meat drawer and the freezer. And then, I like the microwave. Its so nice and simple. There were higher-end ones with the convection fan in the microwave, and I got simplest because I picked over the stove with the vent pan under the microwave. The way my kitchen was designed, it seemed the best route rather than a hood. The stove is unbelievable. This induction stove is the best thing in the planet. I heard good things about them and everybody I know whos renovating was getting new appliances, and new stoves are getting induction, and were just in shock about it was the fastest weve ever seen to boil water or cook. So safe, the way the magnetic field isnt hot. The oven is incredibly fast too. Its interesting. You dont have to preheat at all. The fix-it guy is a surprise too. He was fabulous, a longtime veteran and knows all his Vikings, and he was stunned. He was so puzzled about the freezer not closing. He thought of it truly as a challenge, a puzzle he had to solve. Because when he thought he fixed it, just 90 minutes later, it broke again. So truly, puzzled, and worked on the phone a long time with Viking in Mississippi and tried to solve it. It was the most infinitesimal thing, some tiny adjustment of a gear in the bottom drawer of the freeze. One tiny little gear off compared to the other side and it meant it couldnt close completely, and then it couldnt stay cold. That was his first time ever had to have that. Also, the button that fell off, he was also puzzled. We couldnt figure out where it fell off from. Just one day, I was just looking, and Id hardly had the dishwasher, and there it was hanging down the bottom, then it came completely off, and I called him up. When he came, You sure that came from this? He figured out where it was, couldnt save the old one or the new one, and it took a while to come. But ever since, things have been okay.
The techs came in and had to replace the whole shelf because they noticed that it wasnât glued in from the factory. It came apart. The middle shelf that we had to have repaired that had the deli drawers in it isnt stable enough to put heavy items on it. And there is no other place to put heavy items on it. There should have been a middle bracket in the middle to support it against the back of the refrigerator. The new half freezer and half refrigerator is something new to me. I feel like itâs small. But the product is fine.
The range has had several issue since being installed. 3 of the grates were warped, 2 have been replaced and one is still on back order. The LED lights above the knobs stopped working after one day and now the fan is making a banging noise when I use convection. When the repairman came to look at that the LED lights he noticed some pieces were missing inside the knob assembly, which are also on backorder. Just poor quality for a $6000 appliance. Will never buy Viking again.
I had a Viking at my previous home. I just like their product and the commercial aspect of it. The first one I had was the open burner kind of thing and all steel. With the new range, I like the way it cooks and the little LED light thing thats underneath that you can actually see the knobs that illuminate it. Compared to the old range I had that had a softer side and could easily be scratched at the back, this new one has a softer cushion and it doesnt mark like the first. The only shortcoming was my experience with the Viking dealer. I like the range and if I had just gotten it from someone else, it would have been a whole lot better. Everything did not happen like it was supposed to. The salesperson neglected to schedule the installers so I had appliances sitting in my kitchen for three days uninstalled. I went to that store so many times prior to them doing the delivery because I had such a bad feeling it wasnât going to go right and I was right. But theyre the only game in town and I was trying to buy local instead of ordering it on the internet.
Ice maker does not work and temperature does not stay constant. Anything in drawers and toward back of fridge freezes. I would never recommend this appliance to any one. They are expensive to purchase and definitely not worth it.
Viking Refrigerator is a higher end product. Itâs a good appliance. There was a slight beneficial discount for the Viking at the time we purchased it even though it was more money than some other appliances. I havenât had a problem with it other than a drawer breaking, and they sent us a replacement. I called Viking and they said to make sure the appliances are registered. So, they registered, and once they were registered, they were gonna send somebody out. I couldnât believe they were gonna do that. When they realized it was just a drawer, they just sent the drawer. The process was easy. I like all the features of the refrigerator. One feature is kinda interesting. They made it so you can put a full-sized pizza on the bottom of it, which is pretty cool because you always have a problem with the box of the pizza. Also, the dealer, Pacific Appliances at Best Buy was great.
I learned about Viking Ranges from word of mouth from a friend. I chose them for their reputation. Ive had the range for 2 months and I love the quality of the range -- especially the griddle. I would tell a friend to totally get it.
We purchased a complete Viking kitchen package from Pacific Sales and it was delivered on 11/04/2008. Appliances were installed in late November. So far in less than 4 years, we have had problems of malfunction with every single appliance. But by far, the worst is the 30 stove # VGCC5304BSS. On March 31, 2012, we had to have the convection oven motor replaced at a cost of $661.19. After it was replaced, we realized from the sound of it that the motor had not been working properly from the start. We also asked the repairman to look at why the oven would sometimes ignite and other times, nothing for days. He was not able to recreate the problem and left about 4 pm. At 5 pm, I went in to turn the oven on to cook for a party and, no oven. He returned the next day and said he thought it was the control board. He returned on 5/5/2012 and at a cost of $447.36, replaced the control board. Less than four months later, 9/4/2012, I went in to cook dinner and turn the stove on and, once again, nothing. I have tried repeatedly over the last few days but zilch! I had a cheap Hotpoint for 20 years that worked better than this piece of **! I am once again waiting for the repairman to come out this Saturday and I fully expect I will once again be asked to shell out several hundred dollars. I think everyone who has a problem with Viking should complain to the store where they bought it until Viking gets heat (no pun intended) from the places they expect to push their garbage off on people who still believe in the Viking name. As, for me, never again!
I had only been using my Viking Refrigerator for five months when the freezer would all of a sudden stop working. Then certain parts of the refrigerator would freeze things. I had to have someone keep coming out. They techs came pretty quickly but then I had to keep having to wait for parts and COVID. They came at least 3 times to change parts and I wasnt able to use the freezer part of the refrigerator for six months. Finally, I had to get another refrigerator. I wouldnt ever go and purchase a Viking appliance myself.
We have a Viking refrigerator and have had the repair person out several times to repair the many problems. I tried to get another repair person out here but they tell me I am in his area and no one else is to repair my refrigerator. This repair persons experience is a 1 from 1 to 10. I stopped calling him and started to repair the refrigerator myself and I have no training at all. I have replaced the strip across the top. I have replaced one of the thermistors and now I need to replace the other one. I have replaced the freezer fan, the refrigerator fan. The alarm is starting to go off at different times day and night. I have had water drain all over our wooden floor several times and its starting to show water stains now. I have had to take everything out of the Viking and put it in the GE in the garage. So, I can unplug the ice in the defroster outlet in the freezer. We have had several problems with our microwave, now the numbers will not show up and the part cost $210 dollars. I have put up with this problem for several months. It takes the oven a long time to heat up. I have spent several thousands of dollars on Viking products and what a bunch of ** their products are. The repair person that did come out said the Viking products keep him busy. He told me that he has less trouble with the GE Monogram and he thinks they are the best. Im about ready to take this refrigerator to the dump and get a GE.
Following a friends recommendation, I got a Viking range and its beautiful. I got the black one and not only does it work well, but itâs nice-looking. The quality is really good too. I love cooking with it, although there are things that it can do that I havent utilized yet because Iâve only had it hooked up for about four months. Also, when I first got it, the broiler was broken. They just fixed that about a month ago. Its an amazing broiler, it goes over the whole top of the oven. It took a long time for them to come out to get it fixed because I live in a rural area. There was some problem with me getting the paperwork, but it didnât have to do with Viking. I bought it through AJ Madison, and their company was the one that I was having trouble with obtaining the paperwork so that I could get the product registered, and then I could get it serviced for free under the warranty. The person who handled it did a good job, and it works now.Apart from the broiler, which I love that, I also love that on a standard stove that Iâm used to, it has the smaller center burners, and these can all go to the boiling. And then they have one thatâs huge, so it really gets your water boiling quickly. It also has a dehydrator built into it, which is amazing. It bakes well, too. Iâve had good experience with everything. I would buy one again for sure.
My Viking refrigerator and dishwasher are just over four years old. We have had constant problems with the fridge beginning within a year of purchase. Ice maker replaced twice, unit not cooling, plastic cracking, doors not sealing. We have had the entire unit replaced, since then the ice maker is still working but the plastic is cracking again on the covers to the butter storage. The dishwasher has been repaired at least twice, once due to a fire hazard recall. Now it doesnt dry the dishes and needs repair again. In over 30 years of homeownership I have owned several homes with other appliance brands at much lower cost - have never had any single appliance come even close to having major issues such as this. When I paid top dollar for professional appliances I never expected this low level of quality.
Please dont waste money on any Viking products! I have had two dishwashers in the past 10 years that fall apart and no longer work. I also have Viking fridge. The drawers broke, builds ice in the bottom of the freezer every few weeks that you have to hammer away to get the door to shut, and have replaced the ice maker twice which no longer works again! I buy bagged ice to fill my ice maker. Viking products stink.
Viking Refrigerators are crazy expensive rather than just going with a regular refrigerator. But my wife wanted one so we got one and it is fine. Our experience with the sales rep and the installation were great. We also have a Viking stove and the starters on the gas thing werenât working. But then a gentleman showed up, found the problem, came back with the parts, and fixed it.
Viking is a brand name thats been known for quite some time. We did a fair amount of research and, in my personal opinion, Viking is overpriced fairly significantly. But beyond that, the simplicity of it was important and there arent a lot of electronics involved although one major flaw is having no timer. Our Viking range is not very big but its certainly well-made, well-constructed and very durable. My wife does a lot of baking and she is getting used to the stove. There were some spills on it and we tried to clean them up. We got the manual out and read it. It said to put a wet towel down for a period of time, but that doesnt work at all. It said not to scrub it with abrasive scrubbers and so were trying to figure out how to keep it spotless as we can. I paid to have the range installed and had it all prepared for the installers. I had cut the countertop, vacuumed everything out, and removed the old stove so they had a pretty easy job. One thing I dont understand is Vikings concept of forcing people to buy a stove with a washer. We wanted a stove and we didnt need or want a dishwasher, but that was part of the deal. It was a deal-breaker for me, but my wife was pretty much convinced thats the stove that she wanted. It doesnt make any sense to force somebody to get a washer and I would have rather taken the cost of the dishwasher off the stove and felt much better about that.
We have the 36-inch Viking range. We purchased from AJ Madison online, and the shipping was fine. I like the size and the durability. It just feels super solid.
I love my Viking refrigerator very much. Its a side-by-side refrigerator-freezer and it has a lot of room. Its very easy to use and to put all my things in. We had a problem in the beginning when we got it delivered, spent a lot of money and then it stopped working. At first, somebody said the wires werent done correctly and that didnt fix it. So, when I called Airflow, their contractor, back and said my refrigerator needs a new motor, they came with that, put it in and the refrigerator has been absolutely perfect since then. Also, I got the gift for ordering my refrigerator. I chose Viking stainless steel cookware and its absolutely wonderful. It cleans well and cooks well. Its just lovely.
We went into a showroom and we had a choice between Wolf and Vikings. I didnât like the way the Wolf looks and I like where the griddle is on the Viking so I chose it. The reps were very nice and helpful. I had a service called on the range before I had it installed and they came out right away. It looks good.
Do not buy. We purchased a Viking Cooktop and Wall oven 7 years ago. We believed we were paying for top of the line equipment. Within two years the lettering that identifies the temperature settings on both wall oven and cooktop had worn off. Now, the only way to know what temperature youre cooking on is by looking at the manual for reference. We spoke with Viking and they said this is not covered under any warranty because its cosmetic. If you are looking for quality in product and customer service, keep looking. Very, very disappointed in how they stand behind their very expensive product.
I wanted to make sure everything matched for my wife and that my wife enjoyed it, and that it would look fine in the house that we live in, so we bought our appliances from Viking. I liked their stove and I was hoping that theirs would be better products than the other products right now. So far, nothing has broken down. I like my appliances, and everything I bought is great and excellent. At the Viking dealer, one of the salesmen helped me and as we were talking, the manager came up and then I was talking to him. They were really polite and kind and courteous. I appreciated that he took his time to explain things to me the things I would ask him about (like the warranty). Then he set up the delivery date and everything came out on time. Everything was fine. I have nothing bad to say about the people that helped me there or my whole experience with Viking. They were wonderful.
I purchased a home and a Viking refrigerator was in it. It was hard to register and they needed to know other numbers that were printed on the packaging in order to register all their appliances. So, you have to call, which was a pain and you couldnât register it via phone. You had to then go on their website and do it. Also, my fridge was not installed properly by the builder and Iâve had trouble getting someone to service to reinstall it for me. Other than that, the fridge is fine.
Our Viking Range is beautiful and it cooks very well. It actually cooks quicker than my former range. It looks very nice to the eye and thats really why we chose our specific model. However, our door isnt level. The right side of the door sticks out further than the left side. So, the light is often on.
Im in the cabinet business, specifically for kitchen and bath cabinets. I have a showroom at a local appliance store and we did a working Viking kitchen. I convinced some of the contractors that I deal with and theyre using Viking appliances. Viking has quality-built products so the name speaks for itself. I live alone and I got a 36-inch Viking range. It was great making the purchase. I worked with not only the local dealer but also the Viking representative. Im still getting used to my range. I dont use it too much, but Ive tried all of its features and Im very happy with it. Its everything that I expected it to be. I tell my contractors that the quality, the price, and the name of the Viking products will help sell the properties that theyre building.
We got our Viking range used and we got it at a really good price. I like the quality. I feel like the electronics and stuff in it seems to be kinda problematic, but that might also be because it is older. We had issues with the oven and a new control board was ordered and that fixed everything except for the broiler. Now, weâre just trying to fix the broiler problem. Other than that, my experience with Viking themselves is great. They gave me the history of the appliance and I was able to figure out what work had been done on it before. I was really happy with Vikingâs technical service and support. And I like the way the range looks and it cooks great. You can feel the difference just in the weight of the appliance we took out compared to this one. Its made much more solidly and well-constructed than typical appliances.
I thought Viking was a good and well-made product so I picked it over others. The reps in the store were great. They were very knowledgeable. I love that the shelves roll out but I donât think the heatâs accurate. I had to keep another thermometer inside as I cook. The overall experience was pleasant but the range is just okay, not great.
My husband is a cook and this is our last house. He wanted his kitchen like how he wanted it so he bought a Viking range and the dealer was fabulous. The overall quality of the range is fabulous too and I like its ease of use.
I purchased all Viking products for my home. The exterior look is excellent but looks are deceiving! Almost every interior component of my refrigerator (VCSB483D) has had issues. Cracked butter covers, drawers that crack and fall off the track, track that wont support drawers, cracked freezer interior lining, ice maker issues, drain issues. The problem is Viking does not really seem to want to help you when its under warranty (loopholes like cracked components are cosmetic) why should that matter! Ive owned many non luxury brands that not only held up better, the manufacturers stood behind their products.
My Viking double oven is a piece of junk. It never properly worked. Ive tried several times to get the ovens fixed and even the repairmen say that Viking is having serious manufacturing problems all related to maintaining heat. My cakes come out in a wavy shape because the heat isnt evenly distributed throughout the oven. The oven is so bad now that it cant stay heated; Thanksgiving turkey wouldnt cook because the oven couldnt sustain an even temperature after an hour or so. I tried turning on the convection and the fan wouldnt run. Just put in a pork loin roast, and the oven couldnt maintain its temperature. Another piece of meat destroyed by Viking. Piece of junk for $7,000!!
Where I live, I dont have natural gas and there were very few of the electric ranges that had the counter drop-in look, and that drew me to Viking. And then, the handles and everything about the refrigerator matched it. The Viking team was great and were there to help. The refrigerator is fine. Im enjoying the French doors and not having an outside ice maker. When the door to the freezer had been left ajar and there was ice that built up on the side, I had a nice repairman come. Apparently, some of the ice got in but some of the ice got in a slide and I couldnt move the tray and I was afraid to force it. The young and friendly man fixed it and I was very pleased.
We went to Best Buy and saw Viking there. We chose them based on what we saw and the recommendation of the salesperson and then compared the burners and the size that we had and thatâs why we purchased it. When we first got this stove in, a piece of sealing in the oven door between the glass was loose and we had to wait for that to get replaced. There was a dent in the bottom frame. Viking wouldnât automatically replace the stove outright. They wanted to send some service guy over and it took almost six weeks to get that taken care of. Also, the oven door does not stay shut when you use the oven. It hasnât even been a year and now we have the issue with the oven door just popping open in between when weâre cooking. Weâve got us a service guy coming on Monday, but would prefer to have that stove completely replaced given the fact that weâve got two service calls on the warranty.Viking keeps telling me that thereâs nothing they can do and I have to call the authorized service people. Ive called their headquarters to find the name of the authorized service people, and they said even though within a number of days of purchasing, if it arrives in my house, they wouldnât replace it which I donât understand. Other manufacturers do it automatically. When I had issues with Sears, Id call them up and theyd give me a replacement. We would not recommend Viking based on whats going on now.
I choose Viking Ranges for their quality and I just like them. They have a very good quality. My favorite feature is its consistency in cooking. I also love that each of the burners has a simmer mode, which is good. I bought the range from someplace online. I also bought the extended warranty and thereâs one company in our area that works on the Viking thats certified if I have any issues with it.
Ive known about Viking for years and the choice for the purchase was a toss-up between a Viking and a Wolf but I liked the design of the Viking better. I was redoing my kitchen and I wanted something very attractive in there and yet functional. I did my hardware in brass and silver and the rim of the burner was stainless and I would love to be able to have a little bit more brass on the outside. I noticed some of the higher end range that had the controls on the front and handle and doesnt have a combination of the brass and the stainless. So, I went online this week to see whether or not there were parts that I could buy and swap out for mine. I really dont cook very much but I like the look. One thing that I dont like about the stove and the first time that Ive ever had a stove that was so high-powered is that whenever Im baking or cooking something that produces smoke and I have the oven on a higher temperature then I must put on the vent because it doesnt vent outside. I have to turn on this vent to get rid of it because its hot. Its very hot such that on the first time, it set off the alarms. To put on the vent is annoying and distracting. Either they make some quieter motors or a different ventilation system for the stove so that it vents from the top of the stove. I am dissatisfied with that one feature.
We bought our Viking 6-burner range used, with very low usage on it. It looked all pretty with the stainless parts, and worked well... for a year or two. After a while, Ive noticed the lack of stainless parts and fasteners where it matters. This thing is just a rust-bucket. We live in an area where steel is not particularly prone to corrosion - the lousy materials are to blame. Rusty, creaky door hinges (maybe that is why our door actually stays closed :-o). Rotting gas oven burner. The pan under the grates has rust-through. On and on. If I thought this was a long-term keeper, Id order a truckload of igniters for the oven, as they go out regularly. If I had to pay someone to work on this, it would be much cheaper to buy something else. Rubbish! Id rather have an old 55-gallon drum and scrap wood than another one of these.
Besides finding out that their side-by-side refrigerator is the biggest disappointment in home appliances, I found out that their customer service is the same! I had some warranty repairs done by Vikings preferred service provider and during the work, they installed an upgrade kit for the refrigerator. Months went by and we would occasionally see water under the unit. Our warranty was up so we had a different service provider come over to estimate what was wrong, a service provider we found out later that Viking had put on their list of preferred repairers. The service person found that while the unit was under warranty and the upgrade was installed, the wiring was preformed incorrectly causing the refrigerator to leak water underneath, damaging the wood flooring in the house. I called Viking on the subject and they first told me that they would not cover the faulty workmanship so I complained that it was their provider that I had used. They gave me a case number and told me that they had 24 hours to research the case and they would call me back. They did not call back and the case was left unsolved. The Viking company does one thing very well, disappoint their customers! This is not the first time that I have had the experience of poor service from Viking. Buyer beware.
We had a new $8000 refrigerator from Viking. Over 5 years we had it repaired 18 times. The refrigerator was recalled so Viking charged us half price for a new one about 8 months ago. This evening - all of the food in the freezer is now thawed out. The refrigerator is not getting cold. Youve got to be kidding. Even the replacement of the recalled refrigerator isnt working now after 8 months. We have an old GE refrigerator out in the garage that weve had for 16 years and it still works perfectly with no repairs in 16 years. So tell me, what is better, the EXPENSIVE OVERPRICED 8-MONTH-OLD VIKING - OR 16-YEAR-OLD G.E. that has never needed repair?
Viking under counter bar fridge, $2200 plus tax - Purchased from Trail Appliance Richmond British Columbia. I paid upfront in May 2011, and it was received in September 2011. I t was not working when plugged in (no freon), 2 visits from repair man, with wasted time in between, no efficiency. End results: the fridge has not external scratches or dents, the visual inside is perfect. But inside, the workings of the fridge were a complete mess. Oil has dripped into the evaporator pan. Oil has been pumped into the system; the whole inside has to be replaced. This was brand new, never used. Viking has said they are going to replace the whole inside. We requested that they replace but Viking refused and said this was their policy. I guess their policy doesnt cover customer satisfaction. We requested to talk to a manager, but Viking refused and obviously wants to hide complaints. So, here we are after having paid for the expensive piece of **, 10 months after, and the appliance is in the repair shop. Poor, poor unacceptable customer service by both the retailer (Trail Appliances in Richmond, B.C. Canada) and Viking Appliance service center in Seattle, WA. I was planning an outdoor kitchen build and was going to use Viking products - no way. Stay away from Viking products as they are expensive, poorly made, and Viking service is absolutely terrible with no customer service considerations.
We just moved our belongings over to Bangkok, including a brand new Viking range which can handle gas canisters. The oven safety switch keeps switching off the oven, just like other have problems with, and the stove top click, click, clicks constantly. I thought this was a quality product. Now I have to find a Viking dealer in Thailand. The professionals that handle commercial stoves came over to our home and they also cant figure it out. How can such a good looking product be so absolutely unreliable? More to come.
We bought a Viking fridge and separate freezer in 2006 when we remodeled our home because they replaced SubZero products and fit into the spaces perfectly. We assumed when you pay for top end products, you get top end products. Instead, we have become used to the freezer leaking onto the floor and a sheet of ice on the bottom shelf. Meanwhile, our fridge has begun acting up and is unable to regulate its temperature. We have been getting up in the middle of the night every night to turn off the alarm and have been dealing with frozen fruit and slushy milk. We called a repairman out who told us the door hinge needs replacing and the door doesnt shut properly, so a couple of sensors now also need replacing. We are facing a $1300 bill for that alone, and also have to pay an installer to come out and re-level the fridge. Because we have a malfunctioning fridge and are trying to operate in a family home, this is an urgent repair for us. Today we found out the parts are backordered and it will be up to six weeks before they arrive. How is a family supposed to manage for six weeks without a properly functioning fridge???We were also told the water lines to the freezer are frozen up and we need to turn the freezer off for two days and defrost it. What exactly we are supposed to do with a freezer full of food during this process seems to be our problem. We read some of these reviews while trying to troubleshoot our own issues and hoped we would not end up adding a review to this site, but sadly, you can add us to the list of disgruntled Viking owners who are wondering exactly what they paid for when they bought top of the line appliances and ended up with an unreliable money pit instead. I will think long and hard before spending another penny on Viking products again.
I went to culinary school and we used Viking ranges all the time so I know that theyre reliable. They cook well and very evenly which is awesome. They usually dont break which is very good. Unfortunately, we had some problems with the one we got. The racks in it dont slide out. We also had a problem with one of the burners that wouldnt light. Were still waiting for pieces to come in for a few months now. The company has been fine but since theyve come to fix it, we still havent heard anything about the parts coming in. It would have been nicer to get kind of like an update.
I am not too happy that I have had quite a few issues with both the refrigerator and the freezer in the past three years. This includes replacing a brand new refrigerator. There have been too many temperature problems along with internal parts, drawers and shelves breaking.
We purchased a used Viking range, did a conversion from gas to LP.. Ive had most of the oven apart and must say, this thing is built like crap. The hardware used is cheap, the sheet metal is thin and rusts, nothing even close to a quality range. The Nords would be very disappointed!
I purchased a Viking refrigerator thinking that the product would be great. I have owned Viking grills and loved them, the quality was amazing and they lasted! I was wrong. The refrigerator is so loud, it hisses, seems to continuously run and makes a banging noise when it is running, rarely shuts down and when it does shut down (for 5 minutes) it makes such loud popping noises you would think a car is backfiring. I tried to return it to the appliance store but they told me it was a special order fridge and cannot be returned. I am so disappointed and feel like the $3250.00 plus tax that I paid was thrown out the window! I recently saw on the news about a refrigerator exploding and I am nervous that this one will do the same. I will not purchase another Viking fridge and also will not shop at Bill Smith Appliances in Fort Myers FL again!
Viking products have been in my family for as long as I can remember. I found the right size fridge for what I wanted to do from Viking and I went to the dealer and bought it. I was pleased with the delivery and installation. Itâs an extremely large refrigerator and itâs not the easiest thing to move around. The quality of the refrigerator is also fine. Itâs a high-end unit and its cold. Viking Refrigerators last forever.
Weve had a lot of problems with the Viking range. The repairman has been here twice. The hinges on the door have not worked properly. When you close the oven door, it kind of falls loose again a little bit. The lights are on all the time. The guy put in new hinges but the oven wouldnt turn on. It was some computer part. Ive been super disappointed.
Viking appliance are beautiful to look at, however, the quality of them, not so much. I bought a suite of Viking products in 2009 (Stove, Refrigerator, Hood, Convection Microwave, Dishwasher) and have had consistent problems with them since day one. The range being the worst. Its an all-gas 30 model. The surface burners on the range work beautifully. They have gotten me through holiday and entertainment cooking when the oven would stop working. It seem that the oven has a known issue caused by cooking at high temperatures (400 degrees) for a period of time. Not only does the knob control area get so hot that you need an oven mitt to touch them it also, over time, burns out the circuitry that is behind those knobs, caused by condensation and/or heat. The last incident was the icing on the cake when the oven wouldnt shut off. I had to turn the oven off at the breaker -- a safety issue no doubt. The circuitry is clearly fried again from cooking a chicken in the oven at 425. (The same faulty circuit board was replaced exactly one year ago.) Viking has told me before that the molding needs to be replaced, which it was. No change in heat coming out. The door shuts fine and solid from what I can tell. A recall was done on the stove that supposedly corrects the oven from turning on by itself. I sense that wasnt fixed because I couldnt get the oven to turn off the last time I had an issue. In a recent email correspondence with Viking, a parts tech said that a fan needs to be repaired or installed under the range-top area where the circuitry is housed. What?! There is no fan and whos paying for that work-around. (Honestly I dont think he knew what he was talking about. This is Viking (Middleby) customer service, mind you.) I dont use my oven that much as Im usually grilling. I probably use it 10-15 times per year and rely on a larger Breville toaster oven to roast/bake smaller things for the two of us. (That appliance has saved me many times and is worth every penny and has lasted well beyond the life of the Viking stove, at a fraction of the price.)Ive given up on Viking, as other appliances in this suite have been problematic just as much. I stopped using the dishwasher years ago. Thats a saga unto itself. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesnt You never know. You get a light show on the control panel telling you why it failed cleaning. My point here is that Viking Appliances needs to be held accountable for the quality of their products. Supposedly they are premier appliances that should be built to last. The Consumer Safety Commission needs to be aware as well, especially with regard to safety concerns with the range. I cant in good faith recommend buying a product from this company. Again, they look great but they just dont hold up. I will buy American again but not them!!
We really like the look of it more than anything. We like the stovetop ranges and the double oven. Its nice when its working. But the two burners arent working. We called within our warranty time but we havent heard back from them yet. Also, I wasnt real sure how to clean the griddle and we kind of had a hard time with that. I wish I would have had a little bit more instruction on how to connect griddle from where we bought it at Best Buy. But weve been pleased with it overall.
I know about kitchen brands since we have a restaurant, and though Wolf is my favorite, I went with a Viking range for its size. I like the Wolf way better. I like the way the Wolf looks more commercial. Vikings a little modern for my liking but I enjoy that it fits in our tiny condo and its a commercial range. However, it was installed crooked and its still crooked. It slopes, so the trays slide out when Im cooking. Its dangerous when Im cooking greasy items. I dont know if the guy that installed it is also the reason why it doesnt ignite properly or if its a Viking problem, but it explodes when I try to light it. I havent been able to use it for quite some time and Ive tried to get the guy out to fix it. Ive reached out to them a couple of times but he is a no-show and a no-callback. On the other hand, I called Wolf for my Sub-Zero at the same time I called Viking, and the Wolf guys were on it.
The range is large and stainless steel. And it feels like it has high build quality. I coordinated a fix on a gas leak through email. Viking had to send the repair guys out a few times to figure out the leak. They were attentive and followed up.
I dont know how this company is still in business. I purchased electric range early this year. At some point we damaged glass top of the range and ordered a replacement back in May. Today is October 14th and I sill didnt get it. Ive been given different dates on when glass top should arrive and any time the date comes there is always an issue. Bottom line. I WILL NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE BUY Viking, period and advise anybody who is thinking of purchasing any product from this banana company think again.
I am writing you this letter to make you aware of the quality control, R&D and customer service issues that you have with your products and within your company. As you read this letter, you will see that I have purchased quite a few of your products and have owned eight homes which exposed me to many brands. I also cook almost every night. Unfortunately, my Viking appliances have been the worst appliance purchases I have ever made. The issues I have with my Viking appliances are what I would expect from a much cheaper brand. With the money I spent on your products, I expected your products to be of commercial grade and able to hold up to repeated use. Based on the blogs all over the internet, I can see that my issues are in line with a lot of other folks. I have outlined the issues of each Viking product that I have owned for your review. In 2005, I bought a Viking 54 gas grill in Texas which I used through 7/8/2008. This item was a fire hazard waiting to happen. We used it 3-4 days per week. The grates that redirected the grease down to the grease pan were poorly designed. It was shaped in a V with round holes the size of a pencil eraser. The holes would clog and the grease and droppings would stay in the V. This forced me to clean them weekly to reduce the risk of fire (hardly ever had to clean the grease pan). Even after a thorough cleaning, you could not leave the hood down for extended time (even on low) or you would have a fire (my wife and post owner blew the knobs off the grill.). Fortunately, no one was in front of the grill at the time. I would never buy another Viking grill. The grates were a poor design. Weber and Wolfe have a much better design.I had a Viking dishwasher DFB450 (serial # 031109D00003895 & 031109D00003878) installed on 7/14/2009. I have two of them. First, the technology in the motherboard creates more problems than the benefits. After trying to reset the dishwashers by holding down the buttons (in manual), I can only get it to work occasionally. I do not know of too many people that enjoy pulling out the manual to decipher the many error codes your dishwasher has. There has got to be a better way to let the customer know what to do when an error light flashes. At least once per month, I have to flip the circuit breaker to each dishwasher to reset it. This cost me $75 for an appliance technician to show me this. I have never had this issue with the other seven brands I have owned. There is no indicator light to let you know the dishes have been cleaned (i.e., green light next to the blue running light). Since the dishwashers do not clean well all the time, we rinse our dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher and we end up running them again. Enclosed is a plastic clip that snaps in and holds a wire shelf for long spoons, knives, etc. All four clips are the same design thus preventing a snug fit causing the shelf to constantly fall/come undone. One of my clips broke (clip in itself is a bad design) and guess how much your company wanted to charge me to replace it? You canât buy the clip. You have to buy the entire rack for $360 plus tax and shipping. You talk about putting the screws to your customer. Would you be happy if your clip broke and you could not replace it for a reasonable price? After about an hour on the phone with customer service, they finally authorized a new rack to be sent to me. How much did that cost you for the part and an angry customer? There is another plastic part (U- shaped) that snaps on to the right side of the dishwasher that also continually falls off. Again, this is what I would expect from the cheap brands, not a Viking. My two and a half year old dishwasher (031109000003895) needs a new heater/wire harness (part#016403-000/P870612). This is something that is not needed by most dishwashers until much later in their life cycle (never had this issue with any of my previous 7 dishwashers including the one we owned in Texas for nearly 10 years). Also, when the non-Viking technician came out to look at my problem (popping the circuit breaker), he noticed a wire that had been crimped badly which he thought was the cause to the circuit popping. After running the dishwasher and watching until it popped, it was determined that the heater was bad. Was the poor quality (crimped wire) the reason my heater went out? After arguing with your customer service department, I am having a Viking technician (Lakeview) come out to tell me why the wire is crimped and how it would affect other parts to my dishwasher. Unless he is a certified electric engineer, his word is not any better than the other technician. Unless this is covered by Viking, I am being given a $500 price to fix it. Before I throw that kind of money at a Viking product, I will replace it with another brand. Lakeview fixed the issue prior to me sending you this letter. Covered by Viking because of a bad harness. My last dishwasher of 10 years was a KitchenAid and I never had it serviced. We used it every day not every other day (have two) like this dishwasher.Viking 6 burner stove with griddle VGRC6056GDSS (Serial # 050609C00015117) installed 7/14/2009 - First time I used the griddle, one side did not heat up and one of the control knobs did not work. Viking replaced both. The convection switch keeps popping out due to a poor design. Should have a nut on the backside to hold it in place instead of a cheap plastic catch. My wife and daughters were baking Christmas cookies in 2009 and had to open the windows (Chicago) to cool down the kitchen. After looking at the stove, I noticed one oven door stuck out more than the other one. A non-Viking technician came out and replaced the hinges and made other adjustments. We have not had that problem again when baking Christmas Cookies. I wonât even touch on the clicking noise from burners not in use and the sound of the gas being blown-sounds like wind in the oven blowing out the flame. Again, this gets back to my letters theme - this is what I expect from a cheap brand not a $13,000 Viking product. After reading hundreds of blogs on the internet, I have a feeling the worst is yet to come. My last stove and oven (10 years) was a Jenn-Air and I never had it serviced. The hinges of my Viking refrigerator DFSB483 (serial # 051508R00010392) replaced to support the custom wood covers. If Viking is going to sell a refrigerator with custom built in capabilities, your R&D team should have accounted for weight greater than the heaviest wood cover. Heavy-duty hinges should have been the norm not the afterthought. My wife left Warming Drawer DFWD101 (serial number hidden behind custom cover) on high for three days and it caused the custom wood cover to separate where it had been glued ($100 replacement). I realized that leaving the warmer on was my wifeâs fault. However, your R&D department should have realized that a custom cover would hide the control knob, thus out of sight, out of mind. My last warming drawer had a timer which shut off the unit after a period of time. I ended up getting thermal heat foil and placing it between the warming drawer and the custom cover. I assure you that it will not be the last time my wife or other Viking customers leave the warming drawer on. Again, with the amount of money the Viking warming drawer cost versus other brands, your customers should not have to worry about these things. I would not have purchased the drawer if it wasnât for the discount we received by buying all Viking. I had a feeling this purchase would come back and bite me and it did to the tune of $100 and a lot of legwork to get the cover fixed and prevent future issues.Viking Microwave DMOS200 (Serial # 05772W205079) - Over heated and caused the glass plate to break and the tri-wheels to melt. I replaced the glass plate and the Tri wheels for around $30 but the turn motor was destroyed. Viking replaced the motor at no cost to me. The problem was due to a sensor not responding to the issue. I was told by the technician that there were several sensors. We were lucky we caught it before a fire broke out. Is this a quality control issue or a fluke? I have no issues with my Viking Dishwasher DFVD042 to date because we hardly use it. Itâs in the basement bar and we use it two to six times a year.As for the Viking customer service, after spending a lot of time on the phone with your customer service about the enclosed part, I was told that Viking would send me a new rack at no cost. Three weeks went by and I called customer service again. I was told that an Email was sent to Lakeview. I called Lakeview and they had no record of the email. I called back customer service and they informed me that they would resend the request. The next day, I called Lakeview and they still had no record of the request. I called your customer service again and had them copy me on the third request (which I never received). The whole point is that I had to do all the follow up, do your employees job and waste my time (not to mention Lakeviewâs). Your customer service team should have put me on hold or a conference call and resolved this issue on the spot.I called customer service about the heater element on my dishwasher and they gave me the cookie cutter response that it was out of warranty. I explained the crimped wire and all the other issues I had with Viking products and that I was very upset because I would have to pay a Viking technician to come out to dispute the observation of a reliable technician that I used and had already paid for. I was told that Lakeview would call me to set up an appointment. After not hearing from Lakeview for 30 plus hours, I called your customer service again to find out when I could expect a call (I needed it fixed with Christmas coming up and knowing I was going to have lots of guests). I was informed to call Lakeview directly. Again, an already unhappy customer was asked to do your employees job and waste more of my time. After leaving a message with Lakeview to call me, I received a call 60 hours after I had my initial call to your customer service department. After talking with your customer service department, I get the feeling they are there to do a 9-5 job and after they hit send, they are relieved from all obligations related to that call. There is no sense of urgency to take care of an irate customer. Maybe this is the norm within Vikings customer service department because the internet blogs and the issues I have with my purchases tell me you have a lot of irate customers. Lake view does a good job.As you can see, I have had to deal with several issues concerning your products. To say the least, I am a very unhappy customer and will be very reluctant to buy another Viking Product. I am also informing everyone I know about the Viking quality and customer service issues. I wrote this letter in hopes that you are not aware of the quality issues your brand is having as well as the lack of vision by your R&D department. I just donât understand why your company would risk the loss of customers over the cheap parts you are designing and putting on your expensive products. Being an owner of a company myself, I just donât get it. Below is Viking response, a couple of generic I- am-sorry letters:Both dishwashers have been fixed since these letters at a cost of approx $200 each (motherboard went out on one-labor only, rubber gasket came off the other parts/labor). There should be no reason a rubber gasket comes off on a $1700 dishwasher. Also, the icemakers water line froze and was replaced with a better one. How long have icemakers been sold to the consumer?
Ive had my Viking range for about four months now and it has been good quality.
We have known for years that Viking a quality appliance, and we chose to go with them because of the name recognition. We also wanted a good quality product. However, there have been some hiccups. One of the refrigerator doors was damaged during the installation. It was installed a couple of weeks before we moved in, and that was when I notified them right away. They came to replace it in about three to four weeks after we moved in. And so, a new one was ordered, but the new one was worse than the one we had on, so we are still waiting on that. A couple of weeks back, I opened the refrigerator door and one of the parts, the locking mechanism to make sure that it does not open all the way broke off. I did not slam it open. It is like a cast metal part, so Im thinking that there had to be a crack or something in there. Fortunately, it is covered under warranty, but if it had not been, that would have been a very disappointing month and a half usage.I did my research, kind of on my own. We were to go through Builders Supply warehouse. Their prices were extremely marked up compared to what I could go get it from Pacific Sales. I had to show them documentation about the rebates and things that were going on, and I was willing to just buy the appliances myself and have them installed after the house was done. But the builder did not want that. So, basically, I was stuck at having to pay thousands more for the same product. That was frustrating. In the initial installation, they had one gentleman and his son installing it. I think that was very poor planning because that was a $10,000 refrigerator that was wobbling and coming off the trailer. He was also struggling to get it off the trailer, It was not enclosed, so it was open to the elements, and that was a little disheartening. I think that their installation should have shown a little more pride of ownership.
I saw Viking Ranges a few times and I liked the quality that it provided and how everything was cast-iron, durable. I like to cook so I told my wife if weâre going to upgrade the kitchen, Iâm going to go all-out and get the stove that I want. Something that blended a little bit and had that commercial, restaurant look, and Viking was definitely a factor and their warranty was a big reason too. It is what I was looking for. I also looked at some of the higher-end products but I thought of just getting the one that I want with a higher quality. I got the 30â Series 5 and I like its broiling infrared feature. I also bought a range hood for the top. I already told my wife that if we sell the house, theyâre either going to have to pay cash for the appliances or theyâre coming with me. I went through Elite Appliance and the shipping was free and the delivery was on time. They had it tracked for me. I got a good deal on my 5 Series. So, I was really happy with them. I would definitely recommend Viking Ranges to whoever is upgrading their house. I know itâs hard. People donât want to spend that kind of money on a stove. My wife still thinks Iâm crazy, but every time somebody comes over, itâs the wow-factor. They walk in and say, âWow, itâs a beautiful stove.â It makes the kitchen almost like a chef-style kitchen and thatâs what I like about it.
Viking is a high-end appliance which was in the price range that I wanted to spend on. So I spent $10,000 on a Viking refrigerator. However, its ice machine had not been working and Ive had to have it repaired three times in six months which doesnt make me happy though I didnt have to pay for the repairs. But I love the refrigerators look and quality, and its got beautiful lighting. Shelving is more than enough for me and my husband though it wasnt as big as I thought it was. I also had a wonderful time with the Viking dealer and they were absolutely helpful throughout that process of having to come fix it. It was an amenable experience.
I purchased this induction range ~4 years ago and have already had to make several very expensive repairs. I purchased Viking because I thought I would be getting a high-quality appliance and didnt expect to have to make ~$1000 in repairs in such a new appliance. The oven takes over 40 minutes to heat up to 350 degrees and does not heat/cook reliably. Very disappointing!
In Memphis, a lot of the really nice and elegant restaurants choose to use Viking products because of their quality and service. I purchased the Viking products from one of their suppliers, Metro Appliances, out at Jonesboro, Arkansas. The salesperson was great to deal with. He was very positive, upbeat and promotional for Viking and all other varieties that theyâre carrying. That was a wonderful experience. But upon receiving my brand-new kitchen suite, the refrigerator had to be repaired instead of completely replaced. The doors were out of alignment and will not be fixed and upon the receiving my ice maker, it didnât work and had to be completely replaced. I have had issues with my refrigerator going out already. I had to wait over a two-week service while all of my food was spoiled. Also, I currently have a problem with my microwave where the screen has gone out. I have already waited a week and a half and have yet to see the first person come and see what the problem is. Iâve made phone calls and chased all of these people around and I get very poor service for a $25,000 kitchen suite, professional series. But thatâs the way they choose to run their business and promote their products and services. I would have been better off going with Whirlpool or Maytag.
I like the look and size of my Viking Refrigerator. It works well in keeping my stuff cold. However, it leaks at the bottom and inside. Ive been with Viking back and forth numerous times. Theyve had three different service people come to my house and they dont know how to repair it. Im waiting to hear back from them because I want my refrigerator replaced. Its rusted, it has discoloration, and the inside parts, God only knows what they look like. My floor is warped and Ive had to stick Bounty paper towels under my refrigerator to absorb the water that pours out. Its been hellish and months upon months have gone by and Viking still has not addressed the issue. They have barely contacted me. Im highly dissatisfied with them.
I bought a house and it had an older Viking range and a Bosch dishwasher. I needed to replace my refrigerator so I wanted it to be Viking. I chose Viking because I wanted it to match the stove. Besides, Bosch did not have as good reviews as Viking. And I was a bit limited as I live in a very old house and itâs a standalone refrigerator. Itâs not a built-in and there arenât a lot of those high-end available and Viking had a nice one. So I purchased the refrigerator through Best Buy and they were very nice. They didnt have the refrigerator on the showroom floor and this guy named Ryan found it for me when I told him exactly what I needed. When I bought the French Door refrigerator, it was fine. I like the way it looks, as well as its lighting. But then it began making high-pitch tinging noise that was driving me crazy. I had an appliance guy come in to check it and I pointed it out and he took a video and told me that its no good. It was not the fan which a lot of people thought. The fan makes a fine sound. Almost a comforting sound. But this was a metal on metal and it was the condenser. They put me in touch with Viking and they sent out a technician and he put some sound deadening material on the condenser which has solved the problem. Thing is, it should be designed that way in the first place. Its silly. And also right there in the back of the fridge is a crazy piece of cardboard which doesnât make any sense. It should be a metal panel. But overall, its a very nice fridge with a very good price. I would recommend Viking.
I do a lot of cooking and I wanted a range thats really good. I ran into Viking on the internet. And then, I went to appliance stores to look for them. I got one and I love it. My Viking Range cooks so much faster than whatever I had before. I got the one that has the gas on top, because I want a gas range. I like the electric below and the roll out shelves that has it in there. Theyll pull out heavy stuff. I like the fan and our only trouble was when we tried to hook it up, the gas hook up was not in a very good position. The guy that we had here to work on it had to add to it, because the pipe for the gas did not come out the back. And then, he had to build a pipe up higher because I dont have gas on the bottom. The fan blew out, so we had to have somebody come back in and they didnt have service people around us. We had to wait about a month to get a new fan for that bottom part. But they were really nice when they got here. They adjusted my burners for me.
I like the way the Viking ranges look and the salespeople were very nice. But the company that I bought my range from hired out delivery people. And they were a nightmare. Theyre not in-house so they had no clue and they didnt set up my range. But once I got my appliances, I was satisfied. All my kitchen is Viking and IIm really happy with my appliances. I bought an electric, five-burner convection since I live in a townhome and were not allowed to have gas. Ive had the range for about two months now and so far, everything has been excellent. My favorite feature of all time is the rack in the oven thats on hinges. You can pull it out completely without pulling it from the sides. You can extend the rack stand.
Wanted a high quality stove top to replace an older GE. Decided on this 5 burner Viking (rvgc3365bss). Performs well but for the cost the SS quality could be better. Biggest problem is keeping it clean. You must clean the stainless every time it is used! If you dont you have a huge problem cleaning it the next day. The quality of the stainless steel finish is very disappointing for this price range.
My Viking Refrigerator has been great. I got it from Best Buy and Ive had it for several months now. I like its size and capacity. I called Viking weeks ago to tell them that my fridge is making a noise. They referred me to a local dealer and I left a message but they never called me back. Other than that, my experience has been excellent and I would recommend this appliance.
D3 Range. Reliable, beautiful, and I love the long center burner. I put my huge Le Creuset dutch oven on the center and the even and quick heating for the entire pot makes for a delicious stew or soup much quicker than on a regular burner.
Viking seems to have a pretty good reputation. Also, I had a Viking stand-alone refrigerator before that I bought on sale and it was good for years. So, when I saw that they had a floor model sale, I took it as a good opportunity to upgrade. I got another stand-alone refrigerator and its interior design is nice and quite functional. It also seems solid and reliable, like the Viking refrigerator that I had before. Viking Support has been very good, too. When the dealer sent a crew who was not a certified installer and did an extremely poor job, I ended up calling Viking Support and that was when I finally got help. So far, I like the refrigeration part of my current Viking refrigerator, but Im not too pleased that its freezer. It is so noisy and on all the time, which is quite bothersome when it is in the middle of a kitchen or family room area. It did not occur to me when I had the smaller refrigerator that the freezer kicked on all the time. With this one, the compressor kicks on for a few times a day and when I open it, which I find unnecessary. Even in a cool day in Northern California, it would kick on and last for a long time. And I hardly use the freezer. I have called their technical support and the guy said that the freezer does that because it needs defrosting. But why would it need to do that all these times? I was also told that itâs normal, which I find counter intuitive when I hear the freezer cranking more often than I open it. So if thats really not a defect, then it is a very poor design.
The Viking range cooks quickly and really well. I like it. We bought it from P.C. Richard. We had a problem with the installation of the range but getting it fixed was fine.
Viking has a good reputation, but weve never used a Viking refrigerator, so we didnt know what to expect. The refrigerator has been better than what we thought, and it was well priced. We went by the brand name, and so far, we havent been disappointed. Weve had our Viking since November 20th of 2018. We purchased the product from a Bellevue Albert Lee office, and they were great to work with. They were very responsive and helped us make the right selections on our appliances in general and the Viking refrigerator in particular. Weve been very pleased with the Viking refrigerator. It meets our needs. I like that it has a really good size freezer and ample compartments. The way the compartments work and the way were able to access and store food products has worked out well for us.
We installed all Viking appliances when we built our home. Thinking we had made a great decision on a high end appliance line. It has been very frustrating dealing with these appliances. The dishwasher stopped working and it was more to have it fixed than to purchase a new one. The double ovens have been running 75 degrees high after a year. After many expensive service calls they still are not fixed. The double sided refrigerator has been replaced once and the current refrigerator freezes food that is in certain areas of the refrigerator as well as we cannot regulate the temperature in the freezer, causes food to thaw. We have had many expensive service calls with no success in resolving this very frustrating problem. Viking appliances are beautiful but there is obviously a serious problem with their products.
Ive always wanted Viking appliances and I got a really good deal. I did it through AJ Madison. It was a package, so I got the fridge, the range, the hood, and the dishwasher. The range is beautiful. I havent gotten to using it, but Im very excited. I love everything. It really fits my house. It looks like everything is really good quality. AJ Madison was pretty good on the Viking products. However, they had a convicted felon deliver my products and steal my stove. AJ Madison and the freight company they subcontracted out to didnt do background checks and they hired a felon. He unloaded my stove before he delivered it to my house and tried to tell me that he delivered it and didnt know where it went. But AJ Madison made it right.
I purchased all Viking appliances for my newly remodeled kitchen 2 years ago. I have had to have each of them repaired at least once. I am currently waiting for the fourth service call on the refrigerator. There is only one warranty repair service company in my area and I have to wait at least 2 weeks to get service. The dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and 6 burner dual fuel range are not worth the money I spent. I would absolutely not recommend Viking appliances to anyone. I am very concerned what they will cost to repair when the warranties expire. I would strongly suggest potential consumers to look for an alternative product unless you enjoy waiting for repair service.
When we went to shop for appliances, the first time we saw the model from Viking Refrigeration I had already considered it. I did some research. It is supposed to be a quality name and it was a model that was on sale. It was affordable and would do a good job for us. The refrigeration is fine. The retractable filter is what I like best. But then I was a little surprised that we would have problems with the water dispenser and with the tube in the back of the ice maker so soon after we bought and installed it. Fortunately, we had to have it replaced under warranty. Overall, weve been very happy with Viking.
We bought a home and had the full line of Viking appliances put in the home. The dishwasher has broken down roughly 6 times in 4 1/2 years of use with a family of 4. The worst part is that once it breaks down it takes about a week to get a service tech to your home and EVERY TIME Viking needs to order parts. Parts take 4-6 weeks to arrive!!! So every time the Viking dishwasher breaks down we have no dishwasher for about a month to a month and half. So in 4 1/2 years our Viking dishwasher has been off of service for about 6 months. Customer service will not help and you CANNOT get transferred to a supervisor. Viking rep REFUSES to transfer us for additional help. I have NEVER seen such poor service with any company let alone one with appliances at the high price point of Viking. The plastic in the refrig cracks and has been replaced 3-4 times in 4 years!! DO NOT BUY VIKING IS MY BEST ADVISE. It is not worth the money and NO customer service!! I have to give them a rating but, 1 Star is TOO HIGH!!
We re-did our kitchen and we wanted nice appliances. I bought my Viking Refrigerator through an appliance place in Silver Spring. I researched online and I know its a high-end appliance. I also found the spec sheet and the warranty online. I bought Viking because of the name and the quality, but now, our refrigerator is a little over a year old and the icemaker broke. I have given to my daughter the cheapo refrigerator I took out of my kitchen when I bought the Viking refrigerator and that works fine. We already spent over $3000 on our Viking refrigerator and it should last longer than a little over a year. I like the refrigerator a lot with its space and the way its laid out, but I need ice and Ive been buying ice now for a couple of months. Ive owned a lot of refrigerators in my lifetime and Ive never had an icemaker go bad. Viking answered my phone calls but they were adamant. I have my own business and I dont treat my customers that way. When there is a problem, I take care of it. I was under the impression that I had a two-year warranty but Viking changes their warranty whenever they feel like it. The Viking rep told me that I should have looked at the floor model at the place where I bought it and reviewed the warranty there, but they didnt even have a floor model there. Since Im very persistent and I didnt give up, they finally agreed to supply the part after multiple phone calls. Then theyre supposed to send the part but they didnt and its another week I have to wait now. Im very disappointed for the amount of money I paid for this refrigerator. The cost to have the icemaker fixed, with the labor and everything, was $650 and that is a lot of money! I thought about getting a whole new refrigerator but they decided to replace it. So, hopefully, the new one wont go bad.
Built a new home in 2011, my ex wanted an elaborate kitchen that would be functional and fun to entertain in. We purchased Viking refrigerator, freezer, 2 dishwashers, 12 gas burners and 4 ovens, because our impression was Viking was top of the line. Turns out the line begins at the rear. The dishwashers never worked properly and I discarded them after 2 years & numerous service calls. The burners took several trips and replacement of the castings to get them level. The ovens take forever to reach temperature and each one takes a different setting to maintain required temperatures. Both doors on the refrigerator and freezer have sagged and required adjustments. Currently, we have been waiting for a month for a part for the refrigerator, in order to get the temperature under 50 degrees. Called yesterday again and was told that the part was on order and coming from the factory. I asked if it was coming by Pony Express, hello Viking have you heard about FedEx yet? Good thing I kept the 15-year-old Whirlpool or we would be eating out of a cooler.
We love our Viking range. Everything is perfect. The dealer, however, told me that we were going to have our Viking stove at a particular date. I called up and they said, âNo. Its not here.â And then they said it would be on this date. When I called them up again it still was not there. So, there was a delay action and then when the individual said, âOh, we donât get shipments in on this particular dayâ, in reality, yes, they did.
Our fancy refrigerator was replaced 3 times before we had a fully functioning refrigerator. First the doors did not align. Second and third time the ice maker did not work and finally on the third attempt the refrigerator install was completed.
I have owned my Viking oven for 13 years. I purchased the oven because of the Viking name and quality. Unfortunately, I have had 3 costly repairs and I am now faced with a fourth repair after a self-cleaning cycle broke the oven lock. The trouble is compounded by the fact that I cannot finding a repair person in the area willing to help. I have contacted 2 companies that have said they would call me with info about repair and neither has returned a call. Disappointed to now have 4 costly repairs on a very expensive appliance.
Placed an order for Model RVGR33015BSS from Us Appliance. It was shipped by one carrier and brought to Denver. The order was then moved to another carrier for the trip to Trinidad Colorado. I went to the carrier and picked up the oven (we live in a rural area). Upon inspection of the box for visible damages I found none. I did not open the box. The box was unloaded at my house by me, and we took the oven inside... we noticed the door was open on the oven but when we got into the house we found that the brackets that held the outer door to the inner door were broken and the outer door was hanging by some screws. I notified US Appliance with pictures. They came back and told me that I had damaged the oven and it was my problem. I contacted Viking and my customer rep told me there was not much she could do. I was told because I picked up the stove at the shippers; it was my responsibility. There was no other damage to the stove. One small dent on the bottom of the front kick plate that was not visible. My wife and I decided to go forth and repair the oven ourselves. I had a local welding shop, reweld the brackets on the front door panel, we purchased a new piece of glass and reinstalled the door ourselves. FYI the spot welds that held the brackets on were at best way too small and the welds did not penetrate into the parent metal.I also noticed the oven would not light, so I took the cover plate off and inspected the spark for the oven part found the cover plate was installed incorrectly and the spark was grounding on the frame. I took the cover plate to my shop and increased the size of the hole by 1/2 and repaired the spark boot and it is working better. However I did notice the oven will not light from the convection bake position. I have to start the oven in bake and after it gets hot move it to convection (I think the fan caused a draft).Im disappointed in US alliance and will not do business with them in the future. We love our rebuilt stove. Serial number 111715C10200028. Im giving it two stars because I think the stove may have been damaged at the factory, and the stove could have been packaged better. It was placed on a pallet with flimsy straps. It is possible that the unit was damaged by a shipper but there are no marks on the box indicating a fork from a forklift got into the wrong place.
I knew about Viking based on recommendations of friends, of the internet and of other people talking about it. I purchased six pieces of Viking appliance. The reason why I purchased the six pieces is because it all says Viking professional, but when those six pieces were delivered, one of them doesnât say Viking professional, which is different than what I saw on the website. Its not something that Id expect because I especially selected the model that says professional. Nevertheless the Viking range is of high quality. It was complicated when were selecting the range hood because it has different kind of motors but they provided very good advice and suggestion for us to select which one we need.
Purchased a complete kitchen full of Viking professional series products in 2008. In 2011 the microwave quit working. In 2011 the stove top igniters are always trying to light a lit stove. 2011, dishwasher spray arm fell off (plastic broke). Ongoing is my fridge freezer side by side. Too warm on top but frozen veggies in the crisper. The oven always seems to take a little longer to get to temp then in 2014 would never get to temp. Have called the Authorized Viking distributor and have always been transferred around. I have been pushed to an authorized repair company and been fleeced for labor and materials. Dealer came out for dishwasher and after talking on the phone for an hour told me it would be over $500 to fix. I paid him for the service call and found the part online, and put it in myself. Took the microwave out and just bought a GE. No one wanted to work on the micro. Pulled the oven out of the wall, called the technician and he came out to troubleshoot. Told me the lower element was out. He quoted me over $550 to fix when the part came in within the next few weeks. I paid him the 140 for the trip charge and service call and found the element online for 111. I put it in myself. An absolute hassle and this is unacceptable for appliances that are supposed to be top of the line. Never, I mean never... NEVER will I ever buy another Viking product. Pure 100% crap. I have a mother in law apartment that does not have a single Viking product. Never have issues. I have Kohler throughout the main house. Hardly ever an issue. If there is one, I talk to KOHLER and they send me what it takes to fix. I cannot wait to remodel my kitchen!!!
Viking Refrigerators quality is good. However, the freezer was broken a couple of months ago. So the whole thing just freezes. We called for service and the technician showed up the next day and fixed it. For two years that Ive had it, my experience with them has been good.
The quality of the Viking Range is fantastic. I already have one and I wanted another one. I like the light above the knobs. Its pretty awesome. I dont have it on my old one, but we just got the new one. The customer service at the designer show has been really good, too. However, we have had a problem with the oven temperature. Ive had a technician come out and it wasnt resolved the first time so Im waiting for them to call me back and see if they can resolve the issue. It would also be nice if there was more information on troubleshooting oven temperature for owners, if thats possible, or just a little bit more explanation on how the ovens work and how theyre a little quirky. Nevertheless, its such a beautifully made stove. The racks didnt slide out. Its a great piece of equipment.
I purchased Viking range from a local appliance dealer and installed it a month ago. I pretty much knew what I wanted âcause I had used the website and based on our space, my husband and I figured out what we wanted. They also answered some questions we had. They have a beautiful stove ring and some of the pieces that we were thinking about were on display which helped to be able to open the doors and look in and see some of the new features. It was nice to have a showroom with actual appliances in it. The quality is good so far. One of my favorite is the indoor grill top. Ive used the oven and the cook top. The only thing I havent used is the grill. Overall, Im confident with the product and Vikings reputation.
I enjoy the Viking brand, and I had already bought some of their appliances. My Viking refrigerator in the kitchen looked really good. And now that Ive gotten used to it, the quality is very good. I highly recommend Viking Refrigerators.
I was looking for higher end appliances, so we decided to go with Viking and have had nothing but problems. The refrigerators doors had a crack in it. The doors were not aligned. The freezer is always kind of opening and not sealing properly. Its a bit noisy. Then there was indenting, and this is the second time it happened in the fridge. I dont know why. I realized I have an extended 10-year warranty with PC Richard so I had the guy come out again, and he said he had to order a bunch of parts, and he placed the order. I hope that is being handled. As far as my range, its horrible. Im always having trouble. It is a very high-end stove that the burners half the time arent working. Its not holding the proper temperature inside. I feel like its a limit. I would put it on 400 but it only went to 300. Viking replaced the burners a couple of times. They come and fix it, but it reoccurs. Theres something wrong with the actual range itself. And then, when I called Viking because of everything that happened to have it serviced again because they canceled my last service due to the COVID, they told me Im out of warranty now. But its the same problem Ive been having since I got the range. Ive called in again but nobody has gotten back to me. They were supposed to push it up to management. I made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding whats going on.
I purchased a Viking range a few years ago. Two of the stove top burners have stopped working. The replacement boards to fix problem are $1200.00 just for the parts, and Viking cannot guarantee they will work, AND they will not let us return parts if they dont work. I would NOT buy these overpriced, underperforming units again.
I got a whole kitchen package two years ago. Ive had some things break on them but every time Ive called, Ive had great customer service under the warranty in getting items replaced. So, its never been the issue. My husband and I put houses for a living and we decided to put Viking in one of our high end properties that we do. When we went to the International Builders Show, we stumbled upon the owner who was speaking at the first day to a group of people and were intrigued by his speech. So, we decided to solicit the package about trying to improve the quality of the product. Viking is comparable to Wolf but Wolf is still slightly ahead as far as quality. I have a 60-inch range, refrigerator, dishwasher and hood and theyre all Viking. I like the griddle in the range but I hate the indoor barbecue. I wish I had the double griddle. If I could switch it out, I would. So, that was my huge mistake but its fine. I just dont use it because its too much of a mess.
My old Viking fridge was leaking and causing damage to the hardwood floors. Viking offered a 30% discount on a new model and requested a copy of the invoice after I made the purchase. They then changed their mind and offered a 10% refund instead. Still waiting for the check months later. Dishonest and disgraceful customer service.
