I purchased the "extended warranty" through our local One Hour Heating and Air (now out of business). This covered a total replacement installation in 2009 of: a Furnace/Coil downstairs; heat pump/air handler unit upstairs; two outdoor units. Evaporator coil sprung a leak last week and I checked my warranty online and on the phone w/ Goodman and they confirmed my coverage for parts and labor. Called one of their authorized "Asure" techs and he came out and told me the coil wasn't covered.Everything (all serial numbers for furnace, heat pump/air handler, two outdoor units) was covered and registered EXCEPT, they had "no record" of the serial number for the coil. They all start with similar #s (0905, 1001) yet that one serial number for the coil isn't among what they have. I'm beyond angry, especially after reading that that's the part that may have been defective upon install!! *sigh* They said the only recourse I had was to present them with a RECEIPT from 2009 showing that coil on there! After confirming the furnace was covered online, I didn't even consider keeping the receipt. Lesson learned there, I suppose. I will be calling them back today and try and dig a bit deeper. This is ridiculous.

In June of 2010, I had my Carrier Infinity heat pump replaced. My old unit was crushed by ice. I went to use the AC at the start of the summer of 2011 and the AC was inoperative. The compressor failed in less than 1 year.Carrier paid for parts only and would not pay over $700 in labor or for freon charges. Almost worthless warranty. Pathetic company. I purchased 2 infinity systems for $22,000 6 years ago. It will never happen again.

We have 11 Trane furnaces installed in a house built 7 years ago. We have replaced 5 evaporator coils and now have another one we have to replace. The excuse we hear is that this was a manufacturing problem where copper was used instead of aluminum. There are tons of problems itemized on the internet related to quality problems. Every time we replace one, it costs $1,300 and all we get are excuses. I'll tell whoever will listen that they should not buy Trane products. I have never had a problem with any furnaces in any home we have ever lived in, which has been two previous homes (one for 10 years and another for 27 years). No interest from anyone from Trane to provide any assistance or demonstrate any interest in helping to reduce the cost and accept responsibility for faulty engineering design. I'm actually surprised that there has not been a class action lawsuit filed since it is common knowledge that there was a major engineering design flaw.

I have owned a Heil furnace for about twelve years. I purchased new together with my house when I moved in. So far it’s operating efficiently, and it’s very reliable. The only thing I have done on my furnace has changed the filters and no other major repairs. I also did a replacement of the converter at the AC unit compressor outside that is not necessarily part of my furnace. I had a technician inspect my furnace recently, and he confirmed that it is still running like a new one. It is as well very efficient, and my heating bill has dropped drastically I would recommend this brand to anyone to purchase one.

The furnace and air conditioner are great. However, the thermostat is pretty complicated to make changes. I did not find useful information on the web to help me through the process of changing high and low temperature and setting the schedule.

This unit is horrible! I had two of the Ducane units installed at both sides of my home less than four years ago. Both models freeze regularly and bring water in my home. I live in Arizona where we experience a lot of dust and so their filters require replacement in every three to four weeks. They are also noisy and I haven’t noticed any difference in the temperature of my home. It is a total waste of money. This unit is horrible! Purchased new Trane XL15i electric heat pump system for over $14K in 2013. Never used since house has wood heat, electric heat pumps are costly and A/C not necessary, Purchased for home re-sale. Discovered unit not operating in January 2015 - first time we attempted to heat house. Now almost May and unit still not working. So far fan motor has been replaced, a capacitor, two circuit boards, and now more Freon added. It appeared to work, but original problem appeared next day. Either units are defective, or technicians have insufficient repair training. I want to sell home, but it won't pass home inspection until the unit works. I should have read reviews, but assumed Trane was a reputable brand. It is essential to have a back up heating system if you choose this product. Unit is attractive and looks "high tech". Too bad it cannot function.

I had the six ultras 95 installed in my home two years ago by a certified installer. It has been running amazingly since then. I have devoted myself to yearly servicing and maintenance. I also change the filters according to usage. I use a Nest thermostat to warn me when to change filters based on usage. I also constantly check the water lines for leaks. My advice to any owner of this product is to take maximum care.

So recently, i purchased a couple Trane air conditioning units for the home. I was downstairs testing the home for the new winter in our new home and noticed that one of our current furnaces that came with the duplex was failing to fire. Not only is this a fire hazard, but it means it could be a cold winter for our upper tenant. I examined both units and they both appeared worn and used and the other one was likely going to fail. I went to Trane.com and found a unit that I really wanted. Ended up with the XL95. They were a little pricey, I'll be honest. But their multi-speed blower, auto mode for the fan motor, and super high efficiency has been amazing so far. We've had them for a few months and Wisconsin is just starting to get cold. I got the home down to 60 degrees and wanted to see how quickly I could get the home warmed up to 70 degrees. Took me 10 minutes to get us there and maintain that temperature. Overall, I am overly satisfied with these units and my tenants will be as well.
