Product Reviews:

On May 23, 2016 I had a Trane 3 Ton, 16 SEER Condenser & Air Handler installed at my residence. This system uses R410a. On July 25, 2016 the units were no longer cooling, so I went outside to see what was happening. When I looked into the condenser unit I saw that the top of the compressor was cherry red so I disconnected power and called the installer. He came the next day and put some oil in the lines stating it must be a bad TXV valve. So I asked him to get a new one and he said that would not be necessary the oil "did the job". It ran for the remainder of the summer. On Aug 15th 2017 the compressor started banging, going on and off, and water was coming out of the emergency drip pan PVC line. So again, I called the installer and he said given what I said happened he will order new parts; compressor and TXV. WELL it is 4 weeks now and still no parts. Call the 800 number you say? I did 5 times, I have a reference number. I know them by first name. Their answer; "We understand you are upset." They can't get the parts, WILL NOT replace the units and will not give me my purchase price back. So what's a person to do? NEVER buy a TRANE - they continue to field defective units full well knowing they will break down in less than a year. And from I have read in this column, I am not that confident these replacement parts, should they ever arrive, are not going to be a permanent solution. It important to remember this system failed in less than 2 months of operation.

After 5 years we change two condenser unit and two coil. After 1 year we change condenser unit and coil again. Compressor go bet and coil leaks again. If You want save many never use Goodman products!

My air conditioner is barely 3 years old and the fan motor on the external air conditioning unit stopped working. A new fan and motor is going to take 7-10 business days to be available due to backorders! It is now 90 degrees in my house! In my non-professional opinion these parts are necessary parts and should be in the inventory. Very disappointed in the follow up customer service (and this unit cost over $5,000.00).

Coleman succeeds in their ability to offer Canadian consumers a little bit of everything. Their Echelon Series products are loaded with a variety of technological features to improve efficiency and reduce noise production, while the range of LX Series air conditioners will have something for almost any Canadian home. Meanwhile, their air conditioners are backed by a reasonable warranty coverage should any problems arise.

I purchased a new home and the day I moved in, the unit was not working. I have a 1 year warranty. The licensed contractor comes out often to either tell me the unit is frozen, needs to be charged or coil needs replacing because of an expansion valve has malfunctioned. Even when a/c unit is supposedly fixed, it does not cool the home properly. It takes at least 4-5 hours to drop 2 degrees. The a/c unit runs constantly and is very inefficient. HVAC unit is a 13 Seer, 2 1/2 ton unit and I'm in a 2 story, 2,100+ square foot home. I have been in my home less than 3 months, and the 3rd coil is getting ready to be replaced. This is the 10th service call. This is the first Carrier HVAC unit I've ever owned and will be the last one.

Every time I leave for over the road, I come back house is cold, when it warms up, I shut it off, then need heat and nothing, it's always sensors, gas valve sticks. The furnace gets new filter every month, dust out top of furnace, and plagued with issues, oh and the air conditioner, when it cycles off sounds like it gears are being stripped. That's normal after a year of whinnying, Never again will I buy Rheem. 96% efficiency my butt. My hydro goes up while I wait for repair guy.

I have several Carrier and Payne HVAC systems in several houses. I had 2 very simple technical questions regarding their thermostat. (Can the unit humidifier be set to greater than 45? and Where is the humidity sensor?) Called Customer Service looking for Tech Support line... no tech support line, they know nothing, suggested I call local "Carrier dealers," i.e. local contractors. I did, they had no idea why Carrier would refer me to them. They don't offer tech support (as they shouldn't). I called back Carrier, went to Level 2 customer service... same BS, unbelievable... no more Carrier products.

10 years ago we had a Trane heat pump and indoor unit installed, we didn't buy the extended warranty because Trane appeared to be a solid brand. Literally each year during a/c season we've had to replace some portion of the indoor and/or compressor units. We've had a circuit board short out because a lizard found a way onto the compressor electronics box. We've replaced 3 master control boards in the inside unit and numerous other circuit boards and sensors. The system has not been reliable and has cost us as much in repairs as we paid for it originally. The Trane website talks about all the extensive testing they do but they seem to overlook basic things. It doesn't seem that we should have to replace this many electronics each time we start the a/c season.

I find it hard to read all these negative reviews about Trane. I am Canadian and sell and install Trane furnace's, A/C, Heat pumps and air handlers since 1991 with very little issues at all. I sell a 10 year parts and labour program with every piece of equipment just to make our customers more comfortable with the equipment and if it is required it protects them from any charges for 10 years. I am thinking that the installs that I am reading about are not done to manufacturer's specification which is very important to follow or the equipment will not work properly and or the installers are not properly trained or qualified. There are contractors here also that are not qualified and only care about getting your money, Trane will take away your dealership if you have continuous install problems.

Heat pump 4 years old - spent 2500$ in repairs already. The very first year, we had to replace the condenser, the second year, the coils, the third year we have had to replace the tubing soldering. The parts are warranty but the labor is not, it has costs us 800 to 900 dollars a year. We have called Goodman and they say, the parts are under warranty but we are responsible for the labor to repair these parts. I have asked that extend our warranty or replace the unit. I can get no help. There is no logical reason for the major items in a brand new unit purchased in 2013 have so many bad parts. Customer service is HORRIBLE, no help at all. Registered 4/9/13, Serial #1210586748, Model gph1348h41, Dealers name Connell's heating and A/C.
