The glass window on my two-week-old KitchenAid Superba double oven with convection exploded last night during the cleaning cycle. Glass flew out all over the floor, clogged the vents of the oven, and terrified me. Thankfully, I was home and able to turn off the unit before anything else happened. Now, I am afraid to replace this with another KitchenAid, especially after seeing these other instances of glass doors shattering.

We bought a KA frig in 2005. We should have learned from that experience. Week 1 everything in frig and freezer was freezing. Service came out 3 times. Finally they removed whole freezer side door (the brains of the unit) and brought a whole new door. Wouldnt replace whole thing just the door. While putting on new door they scratched and scuffed up unit. Yr later ice maker broke. Had to have new ice maker. We have continued to have trouble with it and it is messy. Ice gets hung in shoot, come home water on the floor. Finally stopped using it and went back to ice trays. We paid 2200 for this unit. We redid kitchen in Jan 2011. New slide in range above stove vent a hood vented thru the roof and microwave and new dishwasher. We dont cook a lot. We use the dishwasher maybe 3 times a week. It would not complete cycles but not consistent on which one then the panel lights started staying on, then off. Then it stopped working. After reading reviews we started the breaker thing. Now nothing. It wont be 4 yrs old until Jan 28, 2014 and remember used MAYBE 3 times a week. :( The writing on my knobs on the stovetop rubbed off the first time I cleaned them. The oven temperature has never been right. We have tried to adjust it but no luck. The oven does not cook evenly either. The vent a hood does not draw good. We paid a lot of money for these appliances. I previously was a Jenn Air fan... Loved loved loved Jenn Air. The ONLY reason we went KitchenAid was because the dealer in my town which we have always purchased from stopped selling Jenn Air. If we didnt purchase from them they dont work on it. So after they assured us how good KitchenAid was (even tho we had problems immediately with our fridge supposedly a freak occurrence) we went with the KitchenAid. BIG HUGE mistake. NOW the dealer we bought from so they would work on it for us has gone out of business after 60 yrs. They retired. :( Now I had to call 800 number to find someone. I have been waiting a week and a half and still no call for my appt date. We will never purchase KitchenAid again. Bad product and very costly. :(

YKERS306BSS - purchased within the last year. The oven randomly shuts off and will not work, nor will the oven panel. The only way to restart the oven is to pull the unit away from the wall, unplug it then plug it back in. Unfortunately this is not a viable solution for our 91 year old mother. We cannot find anything in the manual to help solve the problem. It would seem from the website that this is somewhat a common problem.

KitchenAid Gas Range model KGSA906. When self-cleaning for the first time, it stopped functioning. The panel is dead and the oven is locked. The repair guy said it is a known defect with KitchenAid. KitchenAid would only respond that it is not covered under the warranty. Now, we have cleaned the oven a second time with the same result. KitchenAid is being sold as a quality product and they should stand behind their product on this clear design defect, but they are not.

We just renovated our entire home, and I wanted a good, solid, basic dishwasher for the basement kitchen, thinking this a better option for my teens. This is not our main kitchen and it doesnt get the normal amount of use like our main, upstairs kitchen, and I didnt want anything too complicated. The KitchenAid dishwasher was installed and leaked from day two. It leaked out the sides and all over the floor, and ruined the brand new cabinetry that it was installed next to. In the two years that weve had it, it has been serviced 7 times, and tomorrow will be the eighth. It was barely nine months old and a pump had to be replaced.Early on, I begged the KitchenAid company for a new unit. I even offered to spend a little more and get a totally different unit, knowing Id have to have another cabinet panel made to match our cabinets. Anything to get this lemon out of my kitchen! Nothing doing. Im basically stuck with it, and now whenever I call (again) for service, they want to charge me the service call because its out of warranty, even though they have the service history. I ask for a supervisor and they finally agree to foot the service call, but for how much longer, its anyones guess. Thank goodness I chose two Bosch dishwashers for upstairs. They are quiet and work wonderfully, and they get a lot of use!

When we purchase our home, we inherited a built-in refrigerator, model listed above, and it immediately broke down. We had a home warranty and it was repaired satisfactorily under that warranty without assistance from KitchenAid. It was around a 1K repair. The unit was 6 years old. The next repair was one month out of warranty and we repaired again. This time it was over $600.Now my fridge is dead again. I contacted KitchenAid to request a concession due to the fact that the first repairs were done without their assistance and the fact that this unit cannot seem to operate without major repairs. Mind you, this units replacement cost is over 14K. They denied my request for assistance. We now are facing replacing the entire sealed system and multiple boards, and maybe the evaporator fan motor (that have already been replaced before at our cost). I would not ever consider purchasing another unit from KitchAid due to the longevity and customer satisfaction. At our prior home we had a SubZero built-in that was purchased new in 1987 for 6K and when our home sold 29 years later, it was still working with only minor issues during those 29 years.

I have a KHMS 2050SSS-2 microwave. It was purchased new in 2011. Very little use. In the middle of the night my smoke alarm went off. The kitchen was lit up like somebody was running a arc welder. The microwave was running even though no one was using it. I tried turning it off. I even opened the door but the thing keeper going. The glass plate was melting and a hole was burning through the bottom. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. My wife dialed 911 because we really expected a house fire. Whirlpool was contacted. They sent out a repair team who said it was “not repairable. Since then I have contacted Whirlpool 3 times but there is zero response. I find that their could not care less attitude disturbing to say the least.

I used to love KitchenAid. I had a suite (dishwasher, refrigerator and range/oven) from them for 10 years in my old home and had no issues. Naturally, when I went to purchase appliances for my kitchen remodel in my new home, I bought KitchenAid again. A year after they were installed, the fan in the oven started to rattle and I began to notice surface rust on the appliances. Ive always used stainless steel cleaner, and I never had this issue with my old appliances. The rust will not even come off with the cleaner. KitchenAid sent out a service technician who fixed the fan and looked at the rust. He said the rust was a problem with all of the stainless steel appliances when they get any water on them. Seriously? A dishwasher, refrigerator and oven? When do they not get water on them? When I contacted KitchenAid, they told me it was a cosmetic issue and therefore not covered. They did call their service technician who said he only saw a small amount of surface rust on the stove and did not look at the other appliances. He also told them it was an environmental issue. (Totally different from the story he told me.). KitchenAid also said it was a cosmetic issue and there was nothing they could do about it as I had used the wrong brand of stainless steel cleaner and the environment was too moist. My home is 30 miles from the ocean in a desert climate, and my previous home (where I did not have problems) was much closer to the ocean, so how it that environmental? KitchenAid offered to send out a second technician out at my expense. I will never buy another KitchenAid product again.

Dishwasher model KUDS03CTWH2 - Have had this dishwasher for about 6 to 8 years. It never washed dishes clean from day 1. Had a repair man out twice while it was under warranty. His answer was it is energy efficient. In other words it saves energy but does not wash dishes. I now use Heavy Duty cycle along with Pro Scrub for one wash and first need to soak my dishes and silverware. Much of the silverware does not clean. It cost us $1200.00. I will definitely never buy Kitchen Aid again. We are not happy with our stove or refrigerator which were bought at same time.

I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher less than two years ago and have been extremely unhappy with it! Model #KDTE334DSSO. My 17 year old dishwasher cleaned the dishes better than this one. I used to use environmentally friendly dishwasher soap but had to go to a heavy strength brand now. The plates fall down in the dishwasher (I recommend taking plates and trying them before you purchase any dishwasher) and now I have all of these little rust looking spots all over the front - which naturally is not covered under the extended warranty!! Terrible appliance!!!

A month ago I was cleaning the appliance when I saw rust under the stainless coating on the refrigerator. Stove and dishwasher are okay. I called the service, they came to see. They charged me $100 for coming. They said it would cost me $1600 to replace all three doors and there was no explanation why this problem occurred. I would like to know if it happen to someone other.

On August 13, 2012 we purchased a French door refrigerator made by Kitchen Aid. 10 months later we were seeing water running down the inside door from the ice maker. I called the company and they sent out technician to fix it who didnt seem like he knew what he was doing. He made several phone calls to ask questions about the repair. After he left my refrigerator was working properly so I was satisfied. Meanwhile, my neighbors were looking to get a new refrigerator and loved the look of mine so they purchased the same model. Months later my neighbor called me complaining of water leaking from her ice maker. They had to have it repaired but then a couple months later she told me their freezer stopped working and they lost hundreds of dollars of food. She called Kitchen Aid to come repair it for a second time. My husband and I went on vacation and we returned home to find our freezer stopped working while we were gone and lost all of our food. When I called Kitchen Aid they informed me I was two months past my warranty and since I didnt buy an extended warranty (which I didnt think I would need to on a fridge that cost almost $3000.00) there was nothing they could do. It could be repaired but at my cost. After a very heated discussion and much screaming on my end about their inferior product I got them to agree to fix it at their cost. I am sitting here now while a repairman is here and he is running dye through the lines to find the problem. He has informed me that it will be at least a couple of weeks until this is fixed. Meanwhile I have no working freezer and have a family to feed. I called Kitchen Aid again to see if they could do something and the womans response was there was nothing they could do and she actually suggested that I leave food in a friends freezer! I googled complaints against Kitchen Aid and was shocked to say the least. It seems they are known for these problems and customer service is not their strong suit. I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance again and will tell everyone who will listen about my experience.

We purchased a new wall oven from kitchenaid and it vibrates with a great deal of noise when baking. We called in the issue to Kitchen Aid and they set out a service company to fix it. They first replaced the cooling fan and the noise continued. They then came out and replaced the convection fan and the noise continued. They came out again and tightened all screws and sheet metal. They now want to replace all of the racks but it still vibrated without the racks. Still an issue so their the last response is to send another service company out to get a second opinion. This is getting crazy and a major inconvenience. Just refund my money! How do you spell LEMON or is it a poor design.

We bought the dishwasher about 2 months ago, I have had Sears service out to check it out and the tech basically said it was all my fault. The dishwasher doesnt clean, it doesnt dry, you cant interrupt the cycle (add a dish) without starting over. I have to make sure the dishes are spotless before putting them in the washer. Many times the detergent door wont open and when it does the packet just sits in the holder and never gets into the washing area. I feel that I have wasted close to $850.00 which is something I can not afford. I would never buy anything they manufactured again.

In December we purchased a complete appliance package from KitchenAid. When delivered the first problems were damaged interior of the dishwasher, fan on the microwave was hitting on something. KitchenAid sent out a service company to fix that problem. Next the interior of the oven start to fall apart. There were crack all along the bottom and pieces of the blue enamel started to break off. KitchenAid sent out another tech. And the stove top started having bubbles show up around the heating elements. KitchenAid sent out another tech. The tech said that the stove was bad and had to be replaced. KitchenAid fought us on the cooktop saying it was cosmetic and would not change it out. We told them no way. Brand new appliances should not be doing that after only a month. They only agreed to replace the glass top. The tech told us that they are experiencing a lot of problems with this new line of appliances. The new oven microwave unit came in yesterday and the microwave doesnt work properly. The tech said that he has to open up a brand new appliance can take it apart to fix it. KitchenAid has been absolutely unhelpful. My next step is to call up an attorney! We have brand new appliances that are breaking down after a few week and the same day. I have no confidence in KitchenAid.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side refrigerator in 2007. It recently began having problems keeping the freezer temperature constant. A repair company came out and indicated that the problem was that we need a new main contact (part number W10219463) but KitchenAid (manufactured by Whirlpool) has discontinued the part. So, we are told we need a new refrigerator. Aside from the fact that it is environmentally irresponsible for refrigerators to have the shelf life of a disposable cell phone, thus resulting in landfills being filled with major appliances built to fail and be discarded rather than repaired, it is also outrageous for a company to discontinue parts in this way. I tried to contact the company using their website, but the system would not accept my message (the website seems to work as well as my refrigerator). I sat on hold on their corporate consumer line for 45 minutes but never got through to a person. I highly recommend that people avoid purchasing any refrigerator manufactured by Whirlpool (which manufactures KitchenAid, JennAir and Whirlpool refrigerators). It likely wont last and it wont be repairable.

We bought this refrigerator for our vacation home in Cabo and liked that it was a reputable American company with a local dealer if anything were to go wrong. Six months and four service calls later, KitchenAid has finally agreed that the unit is unrepairable and will replace it...but SIX MONTHS LATER? What if we hadnt kept the old refrigerator. This Kitchenaid doesnt get below 70 degrees, wont make ice cubes and doesnt keep anything in the freezer frozen! Basically it doesnt do one thing its supposed to do. Yet it has taken six months of aggravation to a least get Kitchenaid to own up to the fact that its a piece of junk. Now how many months till it gets replaced? I can understand that every once in awhile, a product gets through thats just not good, but thats where customer service comes in. The way that this has been handled is is a reflection of a complete lack of quality and integrity in every way. Beyond disappointing. While Id hope the majority of their projects work as they should, buying a product knowing how they treat the customer when the product doesnt work is a clear signal to look elsewhere.

Even flipping the switch on the circuit breaker doesnt work most of the time. Like others, we bought this *more expensive* machine because we wanted to buy an American-made product, and because we grew up with KitchenAid dishwashers that lasted, problem-free, for decades. KitchenAid Refrigerator Counter Depth Side by Side KSC23C8EYY02 - This pertains to a new Refrigerator purchased in January 2013. Condensation formed above the ice/water dispenser on exterior of original freezer door. New freezer door was installed last week (after 2-month wait). Now, new problems pop up - the ice maker does not produce ice. The electronic display is defective (light segments do not work) and the freezer is super-cooling. 3 different service companies have been here since last Monday and the problem continues. Why cant someone figure this out? A new ice maker is on order, a new display is on order and today, we are told that the heaters (supposed to keep water line to ice maker from freezing) may be defective. We have 4 months before our one-year warranty runs out and no confidence that we will have a functional refrigerator before then.

In 2013 I purchased a KitchenAid package of appliances for my house. Since last year I have had the repair people out on 5 different occasions and I am still having issues. The model number is KFIS29PBMS02. Initially I was having issues with the ice maker and freezer and the PO code which means powers failure. I was told to have an electrician check the outlet which I did and it was fine. They then said it was a circuit board but didn’t know which one and they recommend replacing both which we did. No sooner did they leave and the code popped up again. They said it must have been a bad board and replaced another board. After they left it acted up again. Tech came out and said it was a bad deli board which is the last thing the company wants to replace due to the cost. I told them ice machine is still not working right. He said I may need a new machine. I couldn’t afford one at this point after taking numerous days off from work to meet the repairman. Fridge had also frozen up and the guy defrosted with his heat gun and said KitchenAid knows that the condensers are bad because they are aluminum and they have been replacing them. Fridge froze up again, ice maker makes ice randomly say a tray a week if lucky. I put bought ice in the dispenser and it melts. They are coming to replace the condenser this week after making arrangements for someone to stay at my house to wait for the repairman.Talked to different repairman today before he came and told him the problem and he said it may not be the condenser which is under warranty still (5 years). Frustrated as hell and think there is class action status here. Customer service at Kitchenaid sucks. They do not care and basically told me I didn’t put enough money out to qualify as a lemon.

Bought the range in March of this year for my mom. The salesman said the KitchenAid was a good brand (upper middle market), it has good looks, and a large oven. What he failed to mention is that they typically last 3-4 weeks, and you shouldn’t use them for cooking or they may get damaged :(. Within days of use enamel started falling off in the oven cavity - very dangerous when it lands on food, a couple months after the plastic door trim started peeling off and lately the cooktop scratched. We are extremely careful with all our appliances, we still use our green Admiral stove from the 60s and it is mint condition - I don’t understand how the KitchenAid stove can be so poorly built. I thought I was getting better value but in hindsight I should have gotten the basic GE stove. In conclusion, I do not recommend the stove, unless it is for display only, you are better off getting one at Goodwill.

The design of the microwave section of the oven has the door opening down. You cannot remove it. Unless you are 6 feet tall and or an orangutan reaching the back of the microwave to clean the area that gets the dirtiest is next to impossible when you are a normal size person. In addition, periodically it decides that when you’re microwaving something, it just it doesn’t want to and it shuts off.

Today, I was baking chicken, first at a slightly higher temperature than at 350 F. When I took the chicken out, we noticed a small piece of glass the size of a dime on the inside and a crack running from top to bottom. I have read the numerous other posts regarding exploding glass and I seem to have gotten off lucky. However, now I am terrified to use the oven, especially at higher temperatures. I have a kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances. My experience with KitchenAid service has been nothing short of a nightmare. Four years ago, the ice maker in the fridge malfunctioned in the middle of the night and continued to dispense water all night long until it had flooded my kitchen, dining room and basement below, ruining a portion of our hardwood flooring. KitchenAid took no responsibility even though the fridge was only about four years old. We also had continuous problems with our dishwasher not staying closed during the wash cycle. After numerous service calls, we finally discovered there was a recall to replace the latch. The big question now is what is KitchenAid waiting for? The potential danger of the exploding glass is extreme. There seems to be a high frequency of this occurring. Perhaps we can vocalize this on Facebook. There has to be power in numbers. KitchenAid can be certain that I will never buy another major appliance from them again.

Nov Posted by Amna 11/28/21 7:55 PM. I bought a kitchen aid dishwasher 4 months ago. Its stopped working right after one month. I called customer support and warranty, they said that they dont have any availability until next month. We waited patiently and the services guy showed up finally after one month. He took a peek at the dishwasher for 3 minutes and claimed that the motor has stopped working. He said that he does not have an extra motor and he needs to order one. He claimed that the motor would arrive by next week and he could come and install it. It has been 2 months now and the guy never shows up! We are calling and calling the customer support and there is no response. After a long wait time the callDisconnects. I would never ever recommend kitchen products to anyone ever! They have the worst customer service and they have no empathy for their customers! I am disappointed because I overpaid for this kitchen aid dishwasher. The worst company ever people! Never ever waste your money on such cheap and low quality and of course useless products!

Purchased a Kitchen Aid side-by-side refrigerator as part of a new home purchase. Everything was fine for the first year but then the lights in the refrigerator and freezer began going out. I called Kitchen Aid and they scheduled a service repair. Two lights were replaced (at no cost to me) and about 3 months later, the same issue came up again; no lights. Again I called Kitchen Aid and they sent out the same service repair company and they again replaced two lights (at no cost to me). Now, 4 months have passed and the lights are out again in both the refrigerator and freezer.I called Kitchen Aid a third time and they said the refrigerator was out of warranty and I was on my own even though they didnt fix the problem when it was under warranty. I believe the LED light panel needs to be replaced costing several hundred dollars. Kitchen Aid quality is average at best and I would recommend not purchasing their product. My refrigerator retails for about $10,000, model KBSD608ESS, so I would expect much better quality.

We purchased the KA model KFIS29BBMS02 in December 2013. We noticed it was rather noisy but we were told that refrigerators make some noise. We have already had technicians out 4 times. They have replaced the evaporator fan motor on July 25 for a flapping noise. That noise is still present. We have a high pitched whirring noise that happens a few times each day. We have found out the mostly constant humming noise is the compressor, as it is always running. We have been told at todays appointment that the compressor needs to be replaced since it is apparently leaking Freon and will hopefully keep working until the repairman can get the part - which is on back order because so many have needed to be replaced!!!! We have also had to replace the touch pad control panel as it popped out of the front of the fridge! After 9 months, we are still unsatisfied with the refrigerator and the KitchenAid brand. So disappointed.

Our side by side (high end) refrigerator stopped working. We called out a reputable service company and after trouble shooting, he determined the main power board was the problem. He traced it down to a built in relay(?). It was a part that could not be replaced. He needed to send it into KitchenAid to be repaired or replaced. In the mean time, the service man found a used one. A couple of weeks later the power board was returned by KitchenAid. The replacement part was no longer available nor were they repairing them! The used power board has a glitch which doesnt show the temp of the fridge on the control panel. At least it is working. My repair man is trying to locate another power board for us as a back up. It has now been 2 months and he hasnt found another power board. You have got to be kidding me. How can KitchenAid get away with this?

Had to have KitchenAids preferred service company out to replace the duckbill drain with a p-trap to drain defrost cycle water as the duckbill clogs and overflows to bottom of freezer and had to chip out ice every few days. KA directed us to use the service as there is a service notice out on this model (so obviously KA knows about this issue), and KA says they have no intention of paying any part of the repair service. I would not recommend KitchenAid to anyone. If we still had wood floors instead of having recently replaced them with tile, the floors would be ruined.

They refer me to the service center. The service center only services during the work week... in 5 hr windows... So they think no one works 8-5. Rotten family of products. Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

The oven was set on self clean - something that is a feature on the oven... and it got so hot that it melted the computer panel that sits between the microwave and oven. I was unable to unlock the oven - the latch was completely bent from the heat. The repair company came out with a new latch but when they saw the damage they said the oven is reparable. KitchenAid completely washed their hands and told me there was nothing they would do. Their words The self cleaning can surpass 500 degrees and can melt this area. So I ask you... then why put that feature into the system if it is going to ruin the oven? Incredible.

We purchased a complete line of Kitchenaid appliances back in January 2018. Our Frigidaire refrigerator (purchased in 2004) needed replacing (after 14 years!) and thought it was best to replace our other dependable appliances due to age. Within 1 month a repair person had to come and replace the freezer door due to a crack in delivery. The repair person urged that I buy an extended warranty on my appliances due to their lack of reliability and quality. I wish we had listened (but I believe a company should build and back up their products...Im old school). Now our oven starts when it chooses to. Works one minute. Hour later nothing. Our neighbor has had the same experience with her 3 year old Whirlpool oven (parent company). She was told it (after numerous attempts to repair) that she needed a new circuit board at the cost of $495. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT PURCHASE KITCHENAID OR WHIRLPOOL appliances unless YOU believe an extended warranty covers their lack of quality.

We built a new house in 2012 and bought all new KitchenAid appliances. I thought I was buying a great branded product. My natural behavior is to buy the best and when I went in to buy appliances for my new house, I was directed to KitchenAid. I started my experience by having several problems with our microwave and with my cooktop at one time, with the burners not working correctly. I also had the board on our dishwasher go out. However, my fridge is a nightmare. I started having a problem 4 months into my purchase. I bought a French door fridge, and my kids do not always pay attention to how the door closes so once in a while, it stays slightly cracked open. KitchenAid tells me I need to train my 2, 5 and 8 year old kids to check the fridge door. Do you think kids will remember this all the time? The problem is that the beeper does not let you know if someone left it open until after 5 minutes. The other problem is the sound on the beeper. I can hardly hear it, and there is no adjustment for higher volume there either.I can hardly blame kids or teach kids that are 2, 5 and 8 years old to shut a door and check it. I can tell you that I know I bought the most highly priced fridge on the market and a simple timer and beeper on the thing is not adjustable. I cant even get an upgrade to fix my problem. I offered to pay for the fix and nobody can help. I am asking for a louder beeper and a timer for an alarm, and nobody can help. More functionality is what the consumer is asking for. Supposedly, we buy the highest priced item on the market so that we would get more support, or at least an option to add this to your fridge? I would have expected this from cheaper models, but a KitchenAid, as far as what I have been told, is the best. Well, I got room for argument on that one. I went to Sears today and LG and Samsung have adjustable timers and adjustable sound within their appliances. My plan is to buy one and never own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid ever again because I absolutely cannot get a response from this leadership team within the Whirlpool organization. This is the 6th time since I have owned this fridge that this has happened. I figured, to replace all the food in my fridge, it would cost me $60-$100 each time. At this rate, it is too costly, with your cost of the product and the way it is engineered to afford your products from this point forward. I am not happy about the communication I have gotten from KitchenAid and Whirlpool to address my problem. I am not happy about supposedly purchasing the best brand on the market and not having more flexibility to adjust timers and beepers.I am not happy about having to replace my fridge in my new home 18 months after purchase. I am not happy because I will have to try and match stainless colors on the new Samsung or LG brand product I intend on buying. I am not happy about not being able to match all my appliances in my new home because KitchenAid can’t offer a product with adjustable timers and beepers. I am only one customer, and I never bad mouth anyone’s products. But if someone asks about my new KitchenAid products, I will let them know my experience with customer support and product experiences I had from the Whirlpool umbrella.

Bought this June of 2016. Looks great and worked great. Received the ultimate error code. PO flashed every 10 minutes or so. Fridge shuts down and restarts. Fridge and freezer parts stopped working correctly. Replaced the pantry Drawer UI PCB circuitry board and the harness attached as instructed by Whirlpool through an authorized repair facility. Six hours later, error code returns and there are no noticeable changes. Had the evaporator motor replaced at a follow-up date, as the original part was wrong that was shipped. This cooled the fridge and freezer correctly, but the PO error code returned.$800 later, tech support at Whirlpool has 2 or 3 more ideas as to what else it could be. The fridge is out of warranty and customer support can only offer me $75 to help for the $3,500 spent. My 14-year-old Conquest fridge by Whirlpool in the warm garage is working better and has only cost me $45 in parts since new for a new fan motor. The design problem is that there is a circuit board under the water dispenser, and no way to keep any leaking water from frying the circuit if that was ever a problem. Im hoping the next dart we throw hits the problem(s) and fixes the issue.

The cable pulley broke and came crashing down on my leg. The door is very heavy. I was very fortunate that I was bruised rather than fractured. I bought a new French door with bottom freezer refrigerator in July 2010. I had continued problems with the seals on the French doors and the doors not closing properly. Also, the ice maker is freezing over. After 4 warranty service calls, the problems were never fully resolved. Now, we have water which flows into the freezer compartment and freezes on the bottom. Once its full, the water flows onto our wood floors. This was a fairly new model for KitchenAid at the time of purchase and I would recommend do not purchase this style. The ice maker storage in the door is heavy and the doors do not seal properly, leading to a host of other issues.

I never had a dirty dish come out of it; provided you used the jet dry. No matter what I threw at it, they came out clean and spotless. The controls were on the top edge of the door so hidden during use and programmed before closing the door. The dishwasher ran whisper quiet and had multiple cleaning cycles; including pot scrubber. It should also be noted that the heater in this unit heats everything to the point of sterilization. You can actually smell the clean when the dishes come out. This dishwasher had the adjustable top rack so cleaning large items in the bottom was very easing. It also had extra large capacity so it took a lot of dishes to fill it. Stainless steel, and hidden controls were very nice. The large, rounded, stainless door handle was the only protrusion from under the counter so it blended well into the cabinetry. Kitchenaid 24-inch Stainless Steel with Proscrub. It came with the standard warranty and I paid to extend it an additional 2 years. It also came with a nicely written owners manual which was clear and concise on the operations.

I am so glad I came here to read the reviews as I have a decision to make. I purchased this model Kitchenaid dishwasher which was to be installed today. It didnt work. The installer said it was either the washer motor or the CPU. Im not technically inclined enough to know the difference. He took it back to the store and brought out another one. It didnt work either. The suggestion was made that there was a problem with my power and/or water supply. My Kenmore dishwasher worked for 20 years on those resources.Store tested the machines and found that they were both defective. I was offered the opportunity to have them replace the defective part or get full credit and choose a different dishwasher. My confidence level was very low and it seemed akin to buying a new car, but let us put a new engine in it first. After reading these very helpful reviews, I shall select a different brand of dishwasher. Thank you all.

I purchased the Kitchen Aid model KUDS301Xss and had it installed in Jan. of 2011. In the first year, under warranty, I had the rollers on the rack replaced (they are plastic and after heating in the dishwasher, they get brittle and break) and then I had the control panel replaced. Shortly after the year warranty was up, the rollers on the rack broke again, and I was told that it was not covered, so I spent $50 to purchase the parts and I repaired it myself. I was offered an extended warranty, and I purchased it because I had already had so many problems that I thought it would be a good idea. So now, I have had the dishwasher for just over 2 years and the rack rollers are broken again! I called to use my extended warranty, dont bother. Its not covered! The rack is covered, just not the rollers; this doesnt even make sense to me! So I called Kitchen Aid Customer Service and after talking with a supervisor, I was told that they could offer me the parts for 50% off - $75 + tax! I explained that I paid $50 for them from a local distributor and they could keep their parts. All I wanted was for them to give me the parts; I was willing to fix it myself! I will never purchase a Kitchen Aid appliance again and I will tell everyone I can to do the same! I wouldnt be so upset if the company would stand behind their product. Its a poor design and poor customer service makes for one unhappy consumer!

Bought a KitchenAid Dishwasher 15 months ago. Almost $900. Wife wanted it to match our KA fridge. I thought, for that kind of $$, the KA DW would clean better and last longer than my moms $300 Kenmore. But the KA has never cleaned well, even with top-line Cascade products. This week, it would start but not complete a cycle. Nothing in the manual about this. Called customer service. Took them 20 minutes to tell me they have no troubleshooting advice for this problem. My only option was to pay for a service call and the machine is just 3 months out of warranty! I told the lady that I would be writing many uncomplimentary reviews. The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Co
The KitchenAid Double Oven KODE500ESS is advertised as an Even Heat True Convection with Even Heat Preheat. The machine is attractive with its huge viewing windows, its highly polished finish, its commercial style handles, and blue enamel interiors. The electronics are elaborate. You are able to adjust almost every function of the oven should you wish to so, down to alarm sound loudness, and calibrating the oven without a technician nearby. However, this oven is not without fundamental flaws. The engineering is deficient in crucial areas: the temperature sensors are located near the top broiler unit, a unit which is used in the preheat cycle resulting in unreliable preheat readings; the heat release vent is located at the top near the electronics components, which could be affected by the extreme temperatures, such as those used in the cleaning cycle, ultimately causing an oven computer crash. We chose this oven based on the many positive reviews and have had the oven for 6 months. Even after talking with KitchenAid representatives and two repairmen, we have yet to feel comfortable with the ovens ability to function properly. First, the preheat operation is worthless due to the location of the sensor. When the preheated indicator sounds after 8-10 minutes, the oven is probably 20-30 minutes away from the achieving the desired heat, should it ever be attained. Second, the highly emphasized Even Heat claim is questionable. Once attained, the temperature can, by design, fluctuate. This we understand and have no problem with fluctuations, unless the variations are large. We have experienced 50-degree swings. We have agonized with uneven cooking in many directions: dishes done on the sides, unfinished in the middle; dishes browned on one corner, not on the others; when two dishes in same oven baked at same temperature, both requiring same number of minutes, one will be done before the other. The repairmen state there is nothing they can do to fix these problems. This is not a bakers oven. It is not even a novice’s oven. It certainly is not as functional as our previous ones. It is unreliable, untrustworthy and we wish this one were not ours. If KitchenAid planned to put an extremely inferior product on the market prematurely at an exorbitant price, they have exceeded their expectations.

The entire unit had to be replaced. Next everything was burning. The repairman came & told us, You didnt calibrate the oven!!! They calibrated it and then told me that the setting will not hold. we will have to continually monitor the temperature in the oven.I baked two pans of oatmeal bars for my grandsons football team. One pan burned, the other did not. When I called about this I was told, You should have used the convection function. In other words it was my fault. I just threw out 4 loaves of German stollen because 4 were burned on the outside and uncooked on the inside. The remaining 2 loaves are fine. This oven will bankrupt us if we keep bringing in repair men. My question is this, Any suggestions for replacing this unit? We purchased a KitchenAid 48 KSSC48QT side-by-side (for custom wood panel inserts) from Factory Builder Store along with a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, all KitchenAid. The ice maker on the refrigerator has been a joke from the beginning. The ice dispenser does not work, we have to open the freezer door in order to scoop ice out of the bin on the door. When we open the freezer door, ice always falls all over the place and the flap on the ice maker is covered with an ice sheet from some type of leakage. After reading everyones comments, I have come to the conclusion that KitchenAid will soon be a past American icon and I will need to just take it as a loss. What a shame. My kitchen is the heart of my home and was featured in our local newspaper and in MySanAntonio website. We entertain almost every weekend and I make sure all my guests and neighbors know that I dont have any ice from the freezer in my kitchen because KitchenAid makes a lousy product. Guests have naturally gone to the freezer door during a party to dispense ice and I just comment Oh sorry, it’s a KitchenAid. Don’t ever buy one! Please get the ice from my old freezer in the garage! (which for 10 years has worked perfectly). Some of these folks are CEOs, contractors and custom home builders so I make sure the word gets out. This shiny, expensive bells n whistles model replaced a new and very similar Whirlpool which lasted only 6 days before dropping dead. Repair parts were several days away and we were w/o a reefer. Retailer (Lowe’s) very kindly stepped in and arranged this replacement which was actually a slight upgrade and delivered it the very next day. Looked great until the next morning when it seemed that ice maker wasnt working correctly. Within a day and a half the ice maker required service. It was leaking and freezing all over inside the door and top of reefer interior. This resulted in two service visits before a heater kit had to be installed (factory told repair tech it should have been installed at factory). Following this, continued leaks until new seals were installed. Now, 10 1/2 months later freezer quits. Service tech comes, advises this acts exactly like a service flash they received. Performs a number of diagnostic tests and calls KitchenAid as the service bulletin does not offer any fix only says to call for special instructions. Those special instructions were to give me a case number and Customer Assist telephone number. He was told by KA there was nothing he could do - that the matter was being submitted for review and disposition. Meanwhile no freezer and water gushing forth onto kitchen floor from dead freezer/ice maker. I call the number provided and am told that the team would be reviewing the matter and it could take five (5) business days for a decision as to whether it would be repaired or replaced. This being totally unacceptable I was referred to a supervisor who told me there was no way to expedite the process. I told her that five days was totally unacceptable for a replacement decision and then comes the kicker... The five days is only for the decision, if approved by the team any replacement will take an additional 10-14 days! In the meantime I have no working freezer and the refrigerator side, while working, is much warmer than optimal temp settings and compressor is making significant noise. Until this venture we have always had Whirlpool/KitchenAid appliances for 42+ years of marriage save for a short stint with a GE reefer that wasnt our choice. TEST QUESTIONS: Do you think well ever buy anything from KitchenAid/Whirlpool again? (Oh, and did I mention this year we plan to upgrade range, microwave and dishwasher?) Is it any wonder foreign appliances are flooding the market in a country where Made in the U.S.A. once meant quality, longevity and outstanding customer service?

When I pulled the top rack out to unload it, the left side collapsed without any warning, spilling dishes and glasses down onto the crockery in the bottom rack and out onto the floor. When I looked for the cause, it was obvious that one of the two flimsy plastic “spring” pegs that retain each wheel of the upper rack on its axle had broken. This allowed the wheel to pull off the axle and thereby allow the entire left side of the top rack to collapse. It seems to me the axles on the rack adjuster (part number W10350376) are very poorly designed and is not made as solidly as the wheels on the lower rack. This is despite the fact that both upper and lower racks are of the same dimensions and so to me as an average consumer, both should be able to support a full load of dishes.

Purchased all new appliances 4 years ago, worst mistake and purchase ever made. Our KitchenAid fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave were all replaced 4 times. That was by the store we bought them from NOT the actual company as KitchenAid will not replace their defective junk. The fridge we have now was purchased in 2016 and has been repaired 3 times already, currently pending a fourth repair after having to fight with the executive office this morning. Our fridge is making the loudest vibrating noise you can’t stand to stay in our 3600sq ft home. Customer service could get someone out by the 26th! Two weeks away. I called the service company they schedule at and they luckily had a cancellation tomorrow but told me it’s not under warranty. KitchenAid sent over the old fridge they replaced model number and warranty info., which, it would still have been covered. When I called executive management again today they wanted to blame me saying there are so many files. It’s hard to find things. So I had to give Nikisha the work order number her customer service gave me! Then she said, Oh, it was a manual submission. Seriously?! Then I had to read the warranty to her from the book I was given about how the warranty works. Horrible appliances, horrible customer service and I dread tomorrow as every time service comes out it requires a part and parts take 2-4 weeks to receive!

Purchased a KitchenAid 36 Full depth 29 CU French Door Refrigerator on June 5, 2013 and I have problems starting 3 months after purchase. The refrigerator had ice build up in the rear wall and made a loud noise. I had repair person come out 3 times. The problem would cease for about 3 months and then would begin again. The authorize repair man broke the tracks that support the freezer. Didnt know this until later. December 2014, the freezer just stop working. The refrigerator is still cooling, but it still has moisture in it. This has been a $2,399 headache. I bought this refrigerator because my previous KitchenAid lasted for 20 years, but I wouldnt recommend this refrigerator to my worst enemy. DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR.

Had purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator new in September 2013. On January 3 the refrigerator broke AND WAS LEFT WITH NO REFRIGERATION. Being under warranty KitchenAid sent out their service repair service. On January 8, the service repair came and said they had to order a part. On January 14, service came back, installed part and that was not problem, had to order another another part. January 22 came, installed part, didnt work, said had to order another part. January 29 returned installed another part, still didnt work, said that new part installed was defective, had to order another part. On January 30, I called KitchenAid and stated that I wanted a different repair person and they would not do so because their repair service are qualified technicians. January 31, installed yet another part, didnt work and said it was unserviceable and wouldnt come back and refrigerator had to be replaced. KitchenAid said they would not replace but wanted to get another opinion. February 6, 2nd company came out and wanted to order more parts. In the meantime, we have Four children and have been LEFT WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR for excessive amount of time. Never seen service like this before. Please help because in the middle of all this more than several phone calls transpired and its obvious that no one at KitchenAid could care less that a family is left without a refrigerator.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!

KDRS483VSS - DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID RANGES!! They dont know how to repair them and their policy is not to replace them but to repair them. I am talking about an $8000 dual fuel range that I have waited years to purchase only to find out that once it was delivered the only thing working properly was the gas top. This is a very classy looking expensive piece of JUNK metal. The hinges on the large oven dont pull the door closed enough to turn off the oven light and you have to press the door in to turn light off. I now have no working ovens at all and this was through the Thanksgiving Holidays. No one cared!!! The oven shows several error codes and now just does nothing. I thought that KitchenAid was a reputable company but that is not the case. This is a known problem with these units. After many complaints still no results!!

KitchenAid electric range # KERS807SSS00. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid! They don’t deserve a star! Because They sold out to Whirlpool to avoid covering their poorly built products that should’ve had been recalled or, came up with a seal to prevent control board burnout! This is my second spillover and the dash control panel is burned out again. At least the range does work because it’s independent from the oven, you do need the control panel to operate the oven. I called KA which is Whirlpool now. Whirlpool, simply have a way of not covering any warranties on KA. They always have an excuse. Or, there’s no record of a complaint by me or by anyone else on this issue!I find that hard to believe because I had a spillover and I called and complained to KA within two months of purchase about the faulty glass top (No Seal) to prevent spillovers from the glass top to the bottom of where the control board burned out. Which they did cover because it was during the warranty period. And their excuse was, “Didn’t you read the manual?” Well No Maam! I didn’t! This is the third one in my family, and there’s been spillovers and nothing was blown out!! I should have realized. They had General Electric ranges. At the cost of $ 480.00 plus labor for the part. We will rather buy a new range other than KA or Whirlpool or any other products made by them!! In the meantime, I’ll be grilling out on the grill ☀️????

Refrigerator model KRSC700HPS just over 1 year old. Has been icing up inside the freezer and refrigerator causing air blockage so temp of refrigeration at 60 degrees. Told by repair service that they first need to replace thermostat and fan units. Then if ice repeats have to replace the control unit. All parts on backorder so have to do without the refrigerator for who knows how long. Repairman said even a replaced control unit may not fix the problem. Over $2,300 loss. Just learned that there is a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool regarding this problem with defective Control Units causing ice build-up in many of their different branded refrigerators.

I was sitting in another room working and I heard what I thought was my cats knocking over their food. When I went to investigate, nothing was disturbed. Then I looked at the oven and there was a pile of glass on the floor. Since oven was out of warranty, we had an appliance repair done by local professional. I will never buy another KA large appliance.

Called KitchenAid...and they replaced the doors. After ten days of having the new doors installed, I can see rust forming on the steel again! I never even touched them with any sort of cleaner at all! Their customer service experience has been the worst. They keep promising theyll resolve the issue but never follow through. At this point theyre blaming me. Very disappointed in the construction of the product and their customer service. Ive owned multiple competing brands of appliances and other stainless steel products in my kitchen and have never experienced this. I cant in good conscience recommend KitchenAid refrigerators.

Since the day I purchased this range, gas/convection oven, I have been disappointed with the quality. First of all, the salesperson at ABT told me the same thing about limiting the amount of self cleaning you do (but said you should do that with all self cleaning ovens.) Then, the fan on the oven sounds like a jet engine when it is on convect or cool down mode. I purchased this range in 2005 I believe, and this Thanksgiving, literally moments after the turkey was done, the oven shut down and will not turn back on. After reading all of these reviews, it clearly does sound like a recall issue and it is unfortunate that Kitchen Aid refuses to acknowledge their poor workmanship or design on this product.

Our KitchenAid refrigerator has had a host of issues since we bought it. The main current issue is ice buildup at the bottom of the freezer, which has created huge puddles that have warped our wood floor. The issue is a plugged defrost drain line. KitchenAid knows about this issue, as there is a published workaround and a new part to replace the too narrow, easily plugged drain line. I havent bothered to call them because its out of warranty, and they are sticklers for their 1-year warranty. Also about 9 months after I bought it, I noticed rust starting on the stainless steel door. It was caused by a faulty heating unit in the French doors, which was causing moisture buildup along the inside of the doors. KitchenAid sent a tech out to fix it for free. BUT the rust was not covered by warranty at all (Theres a 30-day warranty for cosmetic issues, never mind that the cosmetic issue was caused by an equipment failure).

Our KitchenAid Wine Cooler is in its sixth year and stopped cooling this week. With most refrigeration this age you automatically assume it is just a premature leak of the Freon/coolant which is bad enough. However, the repairman (his trip cost $85 for the bad news) reported it was the evaporator that failed and the parts are already out of production/not available and therefore, the unit will have to be replaced. Whirlpool which owns KitchenAid confirmed the part is not available and that there was nothing they could do for us. Since we would have to replace it with another KitchenAid unit for reasons of fit and appearance, one would think they might do something monetarily for the consumer. Ironically last evening at a New Year Eves party we heard a very similar story involving a failed KitchenAid refrigerator that was only in its third warranty year. KitchenAid/Whirlpool should not be getting away with this fraud-- no consumer expects to junk a relatively new appliance because it breaks. When the class action lawsuit happens, Whirlpool will wish they had done right by their customers.

After purchasing a high end dishwasher from KitchenAid, I am so disappointed in this machine. It has leaked water so long and ruined my kitchen floor to the extent it had to be replaced. The racks never stay up on the top shelf and had to be replaced three times. The dishwasher is just two years old and another leak, this time it was the motor/pump assembly to the tune of $210.00. I will never buy this brand again. I called customer service to complain and they wanted to give me a few hundred dollars discount on a new dishwasher, like I can afford another one. At any rate, it would never be this brand again when I do buy. So frustrated and so disappointed in this washer. You think you are paying more and getting a better machine, what a joke that is. Just not happy. Wish I would of read the above reviews before I had bought mine...

Model #KRFF707ESS01 Seriel#K63621163 - In March of 2017 we remodeled our kitchen. We purchased KitchenAid appliances due to the new industrial type of handles. As soon as we hooked up the fridge the water/ice dispenser was not working. When you would press the ice water would come out. We placed a call to warranty, they came out and could not find the part - about 3 weeks later they show up and replace the front panel with an older style front panel as the part on my fridge was too new. Then around a month later, the fridge starts making a horrible noise, we call. A company by the name of GGSL Appliance Repair (in Orange County California) comes out, the guy was very rude and you could tell he did not want to be there. He tells us we need to order our own part. He stated if he ordered the part it would take up to three weeks to get it in. We do as asked and order the part, it arrived the next day. Once the part arrived we could get a hold of no one to install the part. They were ignoring all of our calls. (In the meantime KitchenAid is aware of this. We kept calling them as well.) Finally the part is put in place. Then within a couple weeks the fridge will not hold temperature, the fridge is sitting at 60 degrees. Anyone who knows anything about food handling knows that bacteria grows if a fridge runs anything over 39-40. I have to throw away tons of food and meat including my condiments. I call KitchenAid complain my $3000 brand new fridge has broken THREE times now and they tell me someone will come out the next day. The company they then hired called and said, No. I am sorry we cannot come until Monday (even though my fridge is at 60 degrees). That day I call KitchenAid/Whirlpool and get an email to a clevland_resources@whirlpool.com. I email him as well as show him all my notes and receipt for the purchase of the part that should have been covered under warranty that was on 09/06/17 and he has not responded. The fridge repair people were at my house today and still not fridge (have to order the part). I asked how long they said they do not know because they need approval from warranty to order the part. My fridge is obviously a lemon at 3K and they dont care to do anything about it. I am beyond frustrated and want to warn others about the products and services they offer. I would have never bought this product had I known the outcome. Poor products, poor customer service.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher based on ratings. Wrong move. From day one, I should have returned it. Before installing it, the control panel had to be replaced. The print on the panel came off when the protective tape was removed. The tech service man came and replaced the complete panel. After about a week, there was a leak coming down the front of the door [stainless steel]. Repair man came again claiming it was due to steam from drying cycle. Took it apart now. Its okay. We have been complaining about dishes coming out dirty each time and have gotten different answers. Called a third time tech. Checked machine codes, claiming all was okay. But the hot water was not hot enough [120 degrees] at burner. Claims 87 degrees. We have never had a problem with past three machines, last one being a Maytag which was spotless but was not stainless steel and we were matching the new appliances. Another wrong move. Should have kept it. The last tech said he was sorry he had to tell me there was nothing he could do. However, if the tech would read the manual, it states that in the hi-temp cycle, the machine heats the water to up to 150 degrees. Maybe he could find another reason for dirty dishes. I am now going to Lowes to see if they can be of any help. This machine is a lemon. Also, dont lean over the counter top. The panel is so touchy that it will turn the machine on or off. The only pro is the machine is very very quiet . Maybe that is why the dishes are not cleaned, its not doing anything.

Well I am sitting here today writing a review because two weeks ago it broke and the service man was just able to come check it. So the pump is already broken. Before you wonder I must say, I am single so I do not use my dishwasher a lot and I do not use the highest setting. We purchased a new Kitchenaid refrigerator and double oven wall unit when we moved into our new home March of 2010. We have had issues with the ice maker/water dispenser not working. The temperature Not staying cold. The veggie tray LID fell off. Now its dead! The repair man did not have an answer, he made many phone calls and theyve decided its the motherboard, which will cost us $500 and a week to get in. Well then it started working, then it died, right now its cooling. The Ice/water in the door was so gross - from water and ice? Theres no way to take it apart to clean. After months of trying to clean the black mold out of it, I finally found a hand held steam pressure cleaner to clean it. I WANT TO SAY THAT I HAVE A 30 YEAR OLD REFRIGERATOR in my garage thats still working. Its NOT a KITCHENAID! Then theres the double ovens, that are self-cleaning thats a joke. When I lock the oven to clean it, it blows a circuit and we have to call someone to fix it. The last time the guy said I wouldnt use it. Its NEVER worked, and that was the reason I bought it. BUT I have to clean the ovens by hand because the advertised self cleaning was just a lie. At this point I would rather buy a refrigerator that I can rely on. I tell everyone, Do not buy Kitchenaid. They are the worst appliances on the market.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased & installed about two and a half years ago (Dec 11). The model is KUDS35FXSS4 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. We also purchased the extended warranty which is thru Federal Warranty Service Corp. We are having the same, repeating top rake wheels failure (3 times so far - every 9 to 12 months) that many others are experiencing. 1st time was under warranty bought from them... Of course the ext warranty does NOT cover wheels and rollers so downtime, parts, labor, aggravation, etc is on us. Thought KitchenAid was a reputable brand like Maytag 20+ years ago (before they went out of business for poor quality and reliability).Wrote KitchenAid a letter explaining and complaining about our recurring issue over a month ago and have heard nothing. Like many others on this site wed thought there would have been a recall or a part redesign to address this design failure but we see no change in parts when we reorder, over and over again. Funny, the parts supplier acknowledged they are sending out a lot of this specific part to address this specific problem. Anyone know how to initiate a class action lawsuit? Based on all the responses read on this site looks like we certainly have the beginnings of one. With so many out of work lawyers right now it could be a way for some of them to get started. It goes without saying (but we are saying it anyway) we are forever done with any future KitchenAid appliances.

From the day we received our fridge we had problems: the doors wouldnt stay closed. If the right door only was open, then shut, the left door would pop open. There was condensation running down the flange between the doors constantly. In the morning wed come down to the kitchen and find a door slightly open even though it was closed when we went to bed. We had about 10 service calls for the fridge with the door issue in the first year and nothing ever was solved. Hinges were replaced, the fridge was re-leveled, moisture setting adjusted and so on, over and over again. What is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again know the results will be the same. This was what was happening because all the servicemen did the same thing over and over again without any different results. How much time can a person take out of their day to deal with such nonsense?I started asking for an exchange about half way into the process of service calls and was refused. I kept arguing we have a food safety issue here and this didnt seem to mean anything to anyone. I also tried getting to speak with a supervisor. Denied. Finally, just as the fridge was 1 year in my kitchen I managed to speak with someone who made an exchange finally happen. This refrigerator actually has doors that close, stay closed so therefore we dont have the condensation issue. The bottom line is that I had a lemon and everyone passed the buck to try and avoid exchanging the fridge. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product again. Look for my oven review next.

I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from KAM Appliances in July of 2012 and received delivery in September as they were on back order. From the beginning, we had difficulty regulating the temperature of the refrigerator. It is model KFFS20EYMS. When I called KAM the first time the technician they sent told me I did not open the refrigerator often enough to let in hot air - in the meantime, I am throwing out enough fresh produce since it seemed that the vegetable crisper was the most troublesome spot. I was also told it had to do with the ice maker being below that although the meat drawer is between them - plus I would assume some type of insulated barrier. The second time I had someone come they replaced a part and told me those thermometers you can purchase to check the temp are no good. The sales department at KAM told me the only thing the could do was sell me a new refrigerator - and this one not even 6 months old. I would never go back to KAM for another appliance and I purchased two other appliances the day I order the refrigerator - thank goodness they were not KitchenAid appliances. When the one year manufacturers warranty ran out, my husband spent a very well invested $49 for an extended warranty. Those men have been here 4 times and I still have frozen produce and now things are freezing in the meat compartment. KitchenAid should stick to stand mixers. If I were a woman of means, I would take this refrigerator and throw it away and buy a Kenmore!! If I could rate it less than one star, I would.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

The last two years before the oven stopped working all together the convection oven didnt cook evenly. This is the absolutely biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased! In November of 2010, we had just finished our $18,000 kitchen renovation. Our $2500.00 side-by-side with freezer drawer on the bottom is a beautiful stainless steel. Was delivered and installed by Lowes. That is when the fun began. After about 2 weeks, we noticed that the food in the freezer was soft to the touch but cold. We gathered the children and told them of the importance of making sure the drawer was closed all the way. After several days and several lessons in proper door closing procedure, I noticed that there was never any ice when I wanted a cold drink. I soon came to realize after the food in the top part of the new $2500.00 beauty became room temperature that there might be a problem beyond my children and proper door closing procedure. Then the real adventure began. I called the customer service number in my trusty manual and spoke to one of the clear speaking people in charge of handling such situations. I was told that they would send a repairman to look at the refrigerator and the appointment was scheduled. When asked what to do about all the food in my stainless steel showpiece, I was told that they are not responsible for food loss in this type of situation. Maybe one of your neighbors could store your food for the time being. Yes, maybe I could have a neighbor store food for my family of 5 until I could get my metal closet repaired (midnight trips to get a snack are now more exciting). I then had the pleasure of meeting a repairman who was more than happy to look at my wonderful now skunky-smelling top-of-the-line food storage device. Mr. Repairman started poking and tapping and doing repairman type things. I will need to go through this section by section to try to eliminate possible causes to the problem, Mr. Repairman told me. When I asked what kind of time frame we were looking at, I was told, Minimum of 4 hours to dismantle, however many hours to do the repair once diagnosed and another 4 hours to re-assemble. Great, I said, My new state-of-the-art cold food making contraption will be spread out all over some repair shop for who knows how long?Oh no, said Mr. Repairman, We do it right here in your home. You what?????? You are going to take apart my appliance here, diagnose the problem, order the part, come back when the part comes in, repair it and then re-assemble it ????? Yes. How long are we talking about ???? 7 to 10 days if the parts come in. After a quick dial, I was back on with customer service telling them what I had just been told. Let me call the repair company, please hold. After a brief hold of about 20 to 30 min. I was told to have Mr. Repairman contact his office. When Mr. Repairman was done with his call, he printed out a slip from his little portable printer and told me that his office and KitchenAid determined that the repair was going to cost too much and that the unit should be replaced as totaled. Wow, what a relief. I was now put in contact with a customer service rep to arrange for my nice new right out of the box stainless steel replacement. Within 2 weeks, will have the new one delivered. What? 2 weeks? What am I to do for 2 weeks without a refrigerator? You can rent one until your new one comes, I was told. Anyway after my waiting period and lots of take-out, my new ice box arrives and is installed to numerous cheers from the kiddies. We thanked Mr. Deliveryman who left and we went on with our lives... until about 2 and a half months later. Honey, did you leave the freezer door open? Everything is soft. And there is no ice. Ring, ring. Hello, customer service. How may I help you? After an even more entertaining episode and even more trips from Mr. Repairman who used the term deja vu, it seems like I have been here before (long term memory is not an issue here). Mr. Repairman said that this was common and that a part needed to be replaced. He didnt have the part but it will be ordered. How long are we talking about? 7 to 10 days. Well eventually Mr. Repairman came back and replaced this little rubber part that lets condensation drip onto a pan so that it can evaporate. Problem solved... NOPE!!!!!! Several more visits from Mr. Repairman and several times telling him that yes, he had been here before KitchenAid decided that this unit also was too much to repair and authorized a replacement. And yes, it was going to be another 2 weeks. At this point I said, Hold on. Why would I want this thing replaced a third time? Can I get a different model? No, that is not an option. 2 weeks later, my brand new stainless steel right out of the box replacement replacement food keeper cold thingamagig makes its grand entrance. Mr. Deliveryman who also say it feels like he has been here before installs and again leaves. Wow what a journey. All this just to keep food from going bad even though twice it did. And after all this, I am still sane. I liked the refrigerator when I saw it in the store. It looked beautiful. Now all is going well and we still have our KitchenAid and it looks like everything is finally going to be... Oh wait I forgot to tell you that I just got off the phone with customer service because unit number three is doing the exact same thing. If anyone is interested in a stainless steel boat anchor, please let me know because I have one made by the good people at KitchenAid.

KUDS35FXSS 8 is a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that has an obvious design flaw. We had a similar style KitchenAid at our last house which was a good product. When we built our new home we got the next level up. In less than 1 year, 3 of the small plastic pairs of clips that hold the wheels on the upper rack broke off. Today the dishwasher would not go into wash cycle and after watching a how-to video I found 3 of the little plastic triangle clip parts in the food chopper. One was wedged against the chopper blade. I removed it and the dishwasher works again. I wired on the top rack wheels with stainless steel wire. The lady at the service center said that they hadnt heard of the problem. We bought it a few months before installation so nothing was going to be covered. A friend just had the same rack breakage issue and several people on this site say so too. CHECK THE SMALL PARTS WHEN YOU BUY!

Brand new oven. Used oven in bake mode twice before. First time using in convection roast, set temp at 350, 45 minutes later heard a pop, went into kitchen, fine glass shards on floor, glass door in oven shattered. Called kitchenaid, they asked questions, said they would transfer me to the safety department, and disconnected me. I re-called, waited another 8 minutes and finally got connected to a person. Asked if anyone was hurt, I stated my dog got cut on his foot, they said they were sorry. They set up a repair appointment for the next week, they said if the repairperson had the glass they would fix it, otherwise they would order the part. I asked why they didnt tell them to bring the part, they said that was up to the repair people. I asked if there was any compensation for the meal in the oven covered in glass, they stated they dont do that. I asked if this was a recurring problem, she never did really answer, except to say that it is glass and glass does break. This issue really should be revealed when purchasing, and the extent of the problem revealed and pursued. If anyone had been in the kitchen at the time, they definitely would have gotten hurt.

During a dinner party the week before Christmas, the oven door exploded in my 2 month old, second use of Superba model #KEB-277, which original cost is nearly $2,500. It took me being a proactive consumer, spending about 1/2 hour a day for 6 weeks for the final repair to take place. The first warranty repair company just did not show up for an appointment. Finally, it took to making two appointments with different companies just to make sure someone showed up to look at the problem. Second company was wonderful - however, it still took me being involved with KitchenAid Safety Division”, their customer service and HHGregg (who told me it wasnt their problem since the 30 day warranty had expired! ), to finally get pieces to repair the door.Since neither KitchenAid nor HHGregg saw any need to replace a defective product, I insisted on all 2 new pieces of glass, a new steel shell that had been dented with the explosion, and all new racks. The problem is behind me, but I will never purchase another KitchenAid appliance nor buy any product at HHGregg.

I did not know KitchenAid made dishwashers until we had to shop for a new one. I have a KitchenAid mixer and I love it. I love the KitchenAid dishwasher also. It is very quiet. It takes twice as long to run the wash cycle, but being quiet as it is I do not notice the time. Washes good, too. Dishes always come out clean as ever!

I regret every day that I bought a KitchenAid. I bought top of the line double oven and upon installation we noted that the oven door was crooked and installed wrong by manufacturer. I have not even used the oven but KitchenAid refuses to replace the oven door. They say that according to their manufacturers warranty, they are only obligated to repair it once the appliance is in your house. That is the worst customer service that exist.

On Saturday, the KitchenAid over the stove microwave/convection (model KHHC2090SBL) caught fire before my eyes. Serviceman yesterday said the magnetron had burned holes within the machine and was not replaceable. Unbelievable! Has this product been recalled? What is wrong with this manufacturer allowing this product to be sold?
