On 2/4/12, I purchased a Kitchen Aid double oven microwave unit nearly three years ago, when doing a kitchen remodel. All the appliances are Kitchen Aid, thinking we were purchasing a good, reliable brand name. Yesterday, I placed the oven in the self cleaning mode. After about 2 and a half hours, the inner glass panel on the oven door exploded, sending hot, shattered glass onto the floor. The intensity of the heat cracked the new cabinet along the top of the oven. I called the service center, and they indicated there have been no recalls on this problem. I am horrified to think that if my grandchildren were present, they could have been injured. After reading other complaints on this website, I think Kitchen Aid needs to do a recall on this unit. By the way, they did not offer to replace the glass. They said the glass was covered, but not the two service calls to replace it, and the glass can only be ordered by a service technician.

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher back in April of 2006. It hasnt worked right ever since we bought it. At first, I would notice that every once in a while, it wouldnt get the dishes completely clean, and then it got to be more and more. I had a repairman come out today and he said it needs a whole new motor mechanism. This will cost at least $250 (we paid almost $1,000 for the dishwasher). We have all KitchenAid appliances and have had issues with almost all of them. We will not buy anything else from them.

Since posting the initial review, I was contacted by a KitchenAid engineer who scans online reviews about their dishwashers. Im happy to say that the dishwasher has now been repaired at no cost to me. Hopefully the replacement rails and adjusters will last longer than the original ones did. Im very pleased that KitchenAid stepped up to make this right. Ive been a loyal customer of KitchenAid and will continue to be in the future. But this is only a great dishwasher if it stands the test of time and thats yet to be seen.

We have had a top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher for over 5 years. This washer gets light use as we eat out a lot and only seasonal residents. The first problem was the failure of the door to stay closed. A repairman came out and we discovered that they use heavy string to attach the door and it broke with a $200 repair. About 6 months later, my wife was pulling out the dish rack and a plastic piece in the track came out. About 2 weeks later, the other sides plastic piece came out and now the entire rack falls down if you pull the rack out too far. Another $210 to fix. None of this should have happened if they used quality dependable parts.

I inherited a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUD102CRBS) when I bought my house. It appears to be a mid to high-end model. It worked fine for the first 8 months or so. Then the counterbalance system for the door (which is quite heavy) broke, and the door came crashing down. Now, the latching mechanism has failed, and the door keeps popping open. The unit doesnt do such a great job at cleaning the dishes, either. From what I have gathered, KitchenAid used to be a good brand. I have purchased smaller items with this brand name. However, given my experience with this unit, the price that the previous owners surely must have paid and the surprising number of complaints on this site, I have changed my position. Its probably not worth the cost to repair it, so I will probably replace it with a high-quality make & model as rated by its users. Unless I hear much better things about the brand in the future, I will never buy KitchenAid again.

Kitchenaid khms2056sss-2 microwave - Microwave keeps beeping for no reason. Often controls are frozen and cannot be accessed for several minutes. Randomly selects cooking task such as reheating pizza or melting butter with no input from owner. Even after the microwave is unplugged for 5 seconds, it still starts up its beeping without input or any reason. Each time the unit is unplugged, the owner resets the time and date as requested by the screen. The light for the microwave does not go on adequately to see what is cooking. Due to the design, the window is so high that it takes steps to see into the oven.

We just completed installing a new kitchen, with all new appliances, cabinets, wiring, etc. as of December 2011. On February 4, 2012 while cooking a single potato, we looked at the KitchenAid microwave (Model KHMS2040WBL-1 Serial #TR 1 25 10840) only to discover that it was filled with flames. We pushed the stop button and the flames went out. The instructions screen continued to flash sensing, sensing until I unplugged the device from the outlet. Upon cleaning the microwave oven, we found that the potato was reduced to a small pile of glowing black carbon, the glass turntable was blackened and cracked, the plastic spindle upon which the turntable sits was about 50% burned away, and the paint under where the potato had been sitting was burned down to the raw metal.Reading the instruction booklet, I found that the device is supposed to sense when the food being cooked is giving off steam, and then shut itself off when no further steam is sensed. Obviously, this function failed.I called the KitchenAid customer service line (1800-422-1230) only to be transferred to the Safety Department at Whirlpool, the corporate owners of KitchenAid. After explaining my experience, the representative Timika ** offered to send a repair service to my house. A repair person from A&E came, agreed that there had been a fire and told us not to use the appliance again, because of consumer neglect. What the neglect is a mystery to me. In summary, Whirlpool has refused to cover the damage to the appliance even though it was manufactured in June 2011 and was still under the original warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and the New York State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Fraud.I am completely dissatisfied and angry with the Whirlpool response. They seem to want to avoid responsibility for (and resulting recall) a failure of the electronics board in this appliance. I have found the website ** which describes a class action suit over fires in KitchenAid dishwashers, also apparently due to failures in the electronics panel of those appliances.

We started having issues with our KitchenAid dishwasher, KUDS301XBLO, potscrub light staying on just after the one-year warranty was up, but we were able to reset it. Then we noticed the dishes were not getting clean and the potscrub light was staying on. It will not even complete a cycle. We have only had this dishwasher 1 and 1/2 years. I called to ask about the 2- to 5-year warranty that covers all parts of defective equipment and was told I had to pay $129 service call for them to come and look at it, then I would have to pay for parts. I was offered to buy an extended warranty for $259. That seems like a lot for a dishwasher that cost more than $800 a year ago. I have been reading that the control panels have been malfunctioning and starting fires. I am very upset that this higher end dishwasher is less reliable than a $400 one. I have also read that the manufacturer is aware of this problem and has failed to recall this product.

We bought all KitchenAid appliances when we moved due to their reputation for quality. We didnt get it. The refrigerator has leaked (a recall that we werent notified of) and it marked our hardwood floor. The ice maker quit and now the deli door has broken off. The gas cook top hums all the time and the double oven heats slowly and cools with a noisy fan for a long time. It also snaps and pops when heating and cooling. Our dealer says this is normal. Im writing this so people dont pay extra for KitchenAid quality that is no longer there.

We bought a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2006 ($4300) and the main control board went out and they do not make the replacement part. We have been without a refrigerator for 3 weeks and still have no idea when we will have it fixed. The repair company says they have to find a circuit board to have it overhauled. It is unbelievable that Kitchenaid stopped making a major part that control the entire refrigerator.

Very well made microwave. Love that it matches the other appliances. It has so many features! From melting butter to baking a pizza on the pan that is included with the microwave. No problems as of yet in the 3 years we have had the microwave. It is stainless steel and looks pretty. The only slight improvement I would make, is it would be nice to have a flatter looking front. It reminds me of a spaceship with the way it bows out from the door front. But I do like that underneath it is angled up towards the front, so it allows for more working space on the stove top that it sits over. Over all I am really pleased with the purchase.

I have never written a review, but compelled to because my experience with KitchenAid has been so terrible. I wish it was possible to rate KitchenAid zero stars. I have had nothing but problems with my brand new KitchenAid refrigerator (model #krmf706ess01) since I purchased it in January of 2017. In the last 7 months I have had to call KitchenAid on numerous occasions. The first time I called regarding the freezer because it had completely frozen over - The drawers would not slide open/shut because it was frozen solid. There was blocks of ice everywhere and all of our food was freezer burned. A technician from one of their hired contractors came out to fix the problem and afterward instructed us to empty the freezer for 24 hours and everything would go back to normal. We did so - throwing away all of the freezer burned food which was probably close to $300 worth of food. We refilled the freezer after that 24 hour period and the same thing happened again! Ruining all of my food again, and refreezing over again. At the same time, we began having problems with the water dispenser/ice maker leaking into the fridge. We called again and KitchenAid said they would send someone out. They scheduled the appointment for August 3rd - using the same repair contractor. I was given a 4 hour window meaning I had to stay home from work. August 3rd - nobody shows up or calls. I call Kitchen Aid to let them know that happened and after sitting on hold for 57 minutes, I was finally told that repair contractor needed to order a gasket and it would take 2-3 days to come in, but because of the inconvenience of nobody showing up, they would work with my schedule when rescheduling and give me a targeted time. Even though I complained about my food being ruined 2 times, nothing was done or said about that.2-3 days then passes by and nobody from the repair contractor called. 4 days later, someone finally calls and said they had to also order an ice maker in addition to the gasket. They have not seen the leakage problem at this point, but theyre ordering parts? Another 3 days passes and nobody called, so I called them. They let me know they had us scheduled for a technician to come out the next day. When was somebody going to tell me? They said they would try to get us a morning appointment. When I told them KitchenAid said they would work with my schedule, they just said they would try. I immediately called KitchenAid, explained this whole fiasco all over again, and the customer service rep offered me a $125 gift card for the ruined food, and said to have the technician come out one more time, and if problems still persisted after that, they would give us the option to either replace the unit or choose another refrigerator. The next day the repair contractor came with no parts that they claimed they had ordered and were waiting on. The guy looked at the freezer, said Wow thats really bad and claimed we needed a new door, which Kitchen Aid would need to approve, and would take 4-6 weeks to come in. He looked at the ice maker and said he would take care of that another time. I called Kitchen Aid immediately. The representative proceeded to tell me that they will not replace the refrigerator that their policy requires a certain amount of information and severity and our case does not qualify for a replacement as per their policy. He said the representative I already spoke to should have never promised me something thats not true. When I expressed my concerns - needing to miss work again, not being able to store food, having only $125 reimbursed even though I probably lost about $500 worth of food - his response was I understand, but offered no real solution. The only option he gave me was to send someone from a different repair contractor for a second opinion. So now I am left waiting on another appointment, with another technician, along with another day lost from work. The pictures Ive attached dont even begin to show how terrible the freezer ended up getting - this only shows the beginning of the problem. I am unbelievably disappointed in the product and service. When you spend thousands of dollars on a new refrigerator, you expect it to work properly.

I bought a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator on December 26, 2013. On February went out, only lasted a year and four months. The unit does not cools and does not freeze - all my food went to waste. I contacted KitchenAid as soon as this happened. Has been almost four months and till this date they have been giving me the runaround. I been calling them every week. They keep transferring me to different person apologizing for what happened and still my fridge has not been fixed. It seems that they cant find anybody to work on it.I contacted a local service guy from Maytag. He did me a favor to check the damn thing. He told me what it needed. When I asked him to fix it he stated that the unit was under factory warranty and KitchenAid needed to take care of it. He also told me that he would not fix it because he would not deal with them. He also told me to call them again and keep insisting for them to fix it. He did mention that they would give me the runaround to avoid fixing it. He was was right. Here we go almost in the middle of June and still cant make them to fix my refrigerator. There is any one can tell me what I have to do to get this people to fix it. Somewhere I can call to ask for help. The unit was not cheap. I paid almost 3K for the refrigerator - for the damn thing to break in a year and four months. Help!!

We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a disaster since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the dual compressor KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didnt work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem. Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. Its all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

The machine is about 15 years old, with three shelves. It was one of the more expensive dishwashers on the market when purchased. At about about 4 years, due to abusive use (seriously soiled and grease laden everything) the machine progressively clogged. Over a weekend I tore it apart and cleaned it. It has performed admirably in cleaning since then due to reasonably use. Just recently a door spring has broken, meaning the door must be lowered manually with care until I have an opportunity to repair it. I wrote a letter to the Jeffrey Fettig, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whirlpool and Marc Bitzer, President of Whirlpool North America regarding a part they no longer made for my 5 yr. old KitchenAid refrigerator. Because of problems I was having with the refrigerator lights and the ice maker not working a repairman told me I needed to replace the electronic control board but that KitchenAid no longer made the part. I called KitchenAid customer service and was told I had to send the control board to Illinois for repair which meant my refrigerator would not be operating for a week or more. After spending hours online I found that Sears Parts Direct had a replacement control Board for my KitchenAid model which I ordered. By some miracle I was able to get the lights working by making an adjustment on the door hinges and the ice maker suddenly started to work. I returned the control board I received from Sears. What is interesting to me is the fact that I never received any response to my letter to Whirlpool senior management. In the letter I asked them 3 questions:When and why did they make the decision to stop producing an integral component for a KitchenAid product causing major inconvenience and problems for consumers? Why does KitchenAid Parts online show this component as available when it is no longer made? Why would a Whirlpool control board be defective in a 5 year old product? (As stated above my control board was not the problem after all.) I also told them I had noted the number of KitchenAid product complaints on Consumeraffairs.com. The fact that I never received any kind of follow up shows Whirlpools total lack of integrity and concern for their customers. The JOKE is Whirlpools Vision and Mission statements..... Pride, passion and performance.... Creating Loyal Customers for Life. We are a company of people captivated with creating loyal customers. Unfortunately the joke is on their customers.

Webster’s Dictionary defines “Self-Cleaning” as capable of cleaning i
Webster’s Dictionary defines “Self-Cleaning” as capable of cleaning itself”. In 1963, GE developed the first “Self-Cleaning” oven. After 63 years, Kitchenaid and their AquaLift Technology has turned back time by redefining “self cleaning” to mean: “If you want your oven clean, you’ll have to do it your-“self with a scrubby pad and manual dexterity”. Plain and simple, AquaLift does not clean your oven and does nothing other than soaking the bottom tray for 40 minutes in warm, filtered water. It produces no steam to speak of, which is the principal behind its cleaning method. After 40 minutes of steaming, the water in the bottom tray is lukewarm to the touch and any grease or oven grime in the oven is unaffected. We called KitchenAid about this on 11.29.2019. When you call and ask about their knowledge of this issue, they tell you they have never heard of this problem before, yet after a quick web-search, you’ll find numerous Class Action Lawsuits filed and customer reviews regarding the false claims AquaLift makes. When the sales people at the Big Box store where we purchased the oven were asked how the self-cleaning worked, they only provided positive support for KitchenAids superior technology.During our call to KitchenAid, they suggest to run the Aqualift process multiple times and then scrub the oven with a scrubbing pad between cycles. Kitchenaid even offers to send you a sample of cleaning power named “Affresh”? Why would a “Self-Cleaning” oven need to be run multiple times; need a scrubby pad; and a scrubbing agent if the self-cleaning worked? The best part of “self”-cleaning the oven yourself: To get to the back part of the oven’s walls and back panel, you will have to remove the oven door, unless you can suspend yourself in thin air to avoid laying on the open door to reach these areas. So, when Kitcheaid saying their oven is self-cleaning, it really means clean it your-“self”.

I am a semi retired senior that saved to purchase my last (what I thought at the time) kitchen range. I have owned KitchenAid ranges in the past and have been very pleased. There were two reasons I purchased this particular brand, it doesnt make any fan noises and for the self cleaning system. To my delight the stove is very quiet and allows an option to turn off all the normal beeping noises and the elements work well. That being said I have never been so disappointed with an oven cleaning system, it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL and yet the company continues to produce this system misleading the public. To me this is a criminal offense except I have no way to make them accountable. I am so disappointed with KitchenAid that they would associate themselves with such an inferior product. It is crucial for me to have a self clean oven and as one of thousands I am now stuck with a product I have come to hate in my kitchen. I am an avid cook and now find there are many products I am unwilling to cook as I have no way to clean my oven. I made wonderful Yorkshire puddings the other night and my husband spent two hours trying to clean the oven but the interior is so shoddy (not really a porcelain coating just some cheap material that cant withstand a proper cleaning and wont come clean with water being heated to 200F doesnt matter how many times you try). The first time after I used the self clean (I have only had the stove for 4 months and cleaned it 5 times) I sat down and cried, having spent so much money and having so much disappointment was a bit overwhelming. I called the place I bought it, they are really great, said the only thing they could do was to sell me a different stove at cost. I appreciated that but I now dont have the funds to do this or I would just to get rid of my stove. I have an extended warranty but this is not considered a warranty issue. I really have trouble with KitchenAid not standing behind their product but more so with a problem they know exists but keep producing, and as consumers we seem powerless to enforce change. As a side note, the oven wasnt hot enough and it does have an option to calibrate the temp. but even so because the oven is not well insulated or made of quality porcelain. During the cooking the temp. can drop as much as 50 degrees before it heats up again which can really affect the cooking process. So all around in general not very happy.

Almost exactly one month past the one year warranty, our KitchenAid Refrigerator/Freezer Model KRSC503ESS is having intermittent freezer issues. Came home from vacation to find water leaking from ice bin because temp inside compartment was well above freezing. Had hoped appliance store would stand behind product but did not/would not and passed it on their contracted repair service. I thought I was upgrading to KitchenAid when spending $2600. Thought I was buying years of satisfied ownership. I was wrong on both accounts. Fortunately (for the time being) the purchase was made through AMEX and we are hoping their warranty extension will see us through this matter. Regardless, I had much higher hopes of quality from KitchenAid.

The oven bakes perfectly even though it takes a while for the oven to reach temperature. The top electric 5 units are wonderful. I love the 3 racks. One has a handle type opening in the front and extends all the way out. The electronic display is easy to read and convert to convection baking or broiling. I havent tried the steam bake option yet, perhaps today when I make cookies. Repair shop recommended not using the auto clean as it heats to 800 degrees. So hello baking soda.

We originally notified KitchenAids warranty department on or around 11/16/2017 about our refrigerator (KRFC704FPSoo) not cooling adequately and making a loud shrill noise. We were told that the service company (Authorized Service, Inc.) would be here on 11/17/2017. We were contacted on 11/17/2017 by the service repair company that they could not come until 11/20/2017. On 11/20/2017 the repair company showed up and told us that the compressor needed to be replaced and that it would take approximately a week for the parts to come in. On 11/28/2017 the repair company revisited and this time informed us that the problem was not the compressor and that the problem was a temperature sensor/regulator and that they would expedite ordering the replacement parts. After the repair company left, they later called and confirmed that they had ordered the parts. I again notified the KitchenAid warranty department on 12/2/2017 and expressed our concerns regarding our warranty service and they started passing us around from department to department offering no help with our problem. On 12/4/2017 I contacted the repair company and informed them that we had not received the supposedly expedited repair parts and they informed me that they were scheduled to be here on 12/5/2017. When no repair parts were received on 12/5/2017 we again contacted the repair company and this time they informed us that the repair parts were ordered late afternoon on 12/4/2017. We were told to expect the parts to arrive on 12/6/2017. We later received another call from the repair company explaining that the repair parts would not be here until 12/7/2017.During this process we also contacted Home Depot (where we purchased the refrigerator) on 12/2/2017 and spoke with someone in their appliance department and explained our problems and concerns with the Kitchenaid warranty service. The lady I spoke with told me that she would get in touch with Kitchenaid and she would see if she could find out what was going on and get back with us on 12/4/2017. She also mentioned that she would explain our situation with her associate manager. Since I did not hear from anyone from Home Depot on 12/4/2017, I again contacted the appliance department and was informed that they could not help me. In the meantime we still are without the use of our refrigerator and it is now leaking water onto our new hardwood floors which I assume is being caused by the compressor freezing up and then thawing. This started happening on 12/2/2017 and was told to KitchenAid, Home Depot and the service repair company. After all that has happened with this refrigerator and the service supplied by all parties involved, KitchenAid, Authorized Service, Inc. and Home Depot, I would advise anyone to look elsewhere for their appliance needs.

My concern is these pieces are floating around while my food is cooking in the oven causing it to land on my food. Called KitchenAid. They sent a technician out and they ordered me touch up paint. I explained this will not sell the safety issue of paint in our food. They are offering me nothing else. I really want my money back to buy another brand. We are extremely unhappy.

The front control panel of stove/oven does not work well. I started the oven and then could not turn it off. It was very scary. The machine finally had to be pulled out from the slot and manually unplugged. The panel off button does not work, and the other functions work sporadically. Broken adjuster assembly KUDE40FXSS3 - Just under two years old and this is our third problem with this KitchenAid dishwasher. First the electronic locking latch stopped working properly. Then the dishwasher wouldnt drain properly. And now the rolling wheel mechanism of the upper rack (adjuster assembly) is broken. The design of the assembly is poorly done, since it will be under daily attack from soap and hot water and the small plastic parts that hold the wheels eventually break and cause the entire upper rack to fall.

On June 27, 2018 my parents purchased side by side KitchenAid refrigerator model: KRSF505ESS. They made this purchase at Canadian Appliance Source. The product was delivered on Sep.20.18. The product has not performed well since opened, the freezer didn’t freeze and the ice maker didn’t work. To resolve the problem, we contacted WHIRLPOOL CANADA, at phone 1-800-807-6777 as they are taking care of the appliances after the purchase as a manufacture warranty. We scheduled an appointment for Sep.27.2018 and the technician appeared on the wrong address, even though he was provided with the address shown above and the postal code. We called to Whirlpool Customer service again and scheduled new appointment for Oct.1.2018 from 9am-1pm, Spoke to Brenda. We arranged the time and took time off from work, nobody appeared, no phone call made to notify us.When called Whirlpool on Oct.2.2018, they advise that the appointment from Oct 1st rescheduled for Oct. 2nd (without any notification to the customer) and the technical behind the schedule. The time of my call was 8pm Est. on Oct.2.2018. The tech didn’t come (spoke to Stephanie). I called Whirlpool on Oct.3.2018 stating that the technician wasn’t at the place and they offered to reschedule the appointment for Oct.10.2018 for 8am-12pm (Spoke to Tylor). At this time the technician Ram **, from “The Appliance Pros came. He did some maintenance and advised to wait for 24 hours to see if the fridge is working. The refrigerator didn’t work, and at this point both the fridge and the freezer weren’t operated.I was calling Whirlpool Canada on Oct.11.2018 and explaining that the fridge is not working. The representative after a long wait on hold explained that we are on emergency status but unfortunately she doesn’t have any records or documentations from the technician about the issue. I called Whirlpool Canada on Oct.12.2018 at 8:30am Est, and they said that the technician should come secondly to monitor the issue, and it is scheduled for Oct.16.2018, and again nobody notified us about this.I am very frustrated customer of being offered poor service, very long waiting times on hold, NO COMMUNICATION between the customer, the Customer Service and the maintenance team, and no resolution in timely manner. I would like to address it, since it is not the way Whirlpool should serve their customers. I would like to get faster response for the addressed issues, need to be notified about any changes that done by the customer support representative about any changes or updates about the service. Im not typically writing reviews but this situation should definitely be addressed. I hope my review will avoid people of dealing with CAS in particular and Whirlpool Canada in general.

We call certified repair and were told that the Tsunami had destroyed their plant and they no longer had the parts in order to repair the fridge. They told me they could rebuild the board but no guarantee would be given for the part and it would take anywhere from 2-3 months to rebuild. The fridge was 5 years and two months old. Ive had a KitchenAid dishwasher for 5 years. In March, it stopped running. And after some debate, I finally got KitchenAid to pay for parts (the control panel) which were covered under warranty. One week later, the control panel failed. And again, KitchenAid replaced the control panel. Today, the control panel failed again. When I called KitchenAid, they refused to replace the faulty part. Apparently, the warranty expired 2 days ago. Even though the part or parts have been faulty, they refused to replace them. At this point, I am better off buying a new unit, because the same thing will probably happen again. Oh, Ive been paying for all the labor charges each time it breaks. Plus, the KitchenAid microwave just broke too.

Purchased a Kitchen aid dishwasher on 01/21/21 to replace a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that did not last 3 years. Was not what I wanted but beggars cant be choosers. Model number KDFM404KPSO, the first issue was that it smelled like an oil refinery when operating, and still does. Called the manufacturer, and was told oh that is the material they used to help with heat retention. It should dissipate in 6 months or so. Believe me that this smell was/ is nauseating. Second issue was the noise level. It was touted as one of the quietest on the market, believe me it is not. It was making noises that the service rep sent to check it out could not explain. Now scheduled for a complete rebuild after less than 2 months.Third issue. It does not get some of the dishes dry especially on the top racks, and yes we use a drying agent. Both kitchen aid dishwashers have proven unreliable, but at least while the old one worked it did not stink up my kitchen, and you could not tell it was running when standing over it. Will NEVER buy another product made by this manufacturer, and they make several different brands.

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

My brand new Kitchen Aid KBLS22KWMS arrived yesterday. Its a bottom freezer, single top door model. The bottom deli drawer kept sticking every time I opened it, so I took the drawers out, to try to find the problem. Thats when I saw that the molded plastic, on which rests the shelf supports on the deli and crisper doors, was very thin, and could be pushed in with just normal pressure from my finger. One of the supports was dented in already. Crisper drawers and the deli drawer are held by plastic frames, with no metal at all. Only the top shelves have full metal support. All the plastic is really shoddy workmanship. I have no faith that this fridge will last even a year, much less 5. Its going back to Lowes tomorrow. KitchenAid® Superba® Series EQ Built-In Dishwasher - KUDE40FXBL1 - Like many others in this column, we spent a bit more money to buy a Kitchenaid dishwasher, thinking that the quality was better. The delivery date for our dishwasher was April 26, 2011. As many have noted, the wheel system on the upper racks continues to fail. The plastic tabs that hold the wheels onto the dishwasher rack adjuster breaks, allowing the wheels to come off and ultimately leading to the upper rack dropping down on top of the dishes in the lower rack. On April 7, 2012, a few weeks shy of one year, and just before the end of the full coverage warranty, we had the dishwasher rack adjuster replaced for the first time by Sears technicians (since the machine was purchased from Sears). In January 2013, two of the four wheels were falling off again and allowing the rack to unexpectedly drop from the upper rails. After much complaining to Kitchenaid, they agreed to send replacement parts (2 dishwasher rack adjusters, one for each side, part number W10350376). The new parts are exactly the same as the two sets of dishwasher rack adjusters that failed in the past. I had hoped that Kitchenaid would have made a design change to the parts by this point in time, but it appears as though they have not addressed the issue. I will be replacing the parts by myself, and if there is no change in design, it looks like this may be an annual task. If anyone knows of a solution, kindly advise.

We purchased the KUDS201XBL1 in April. To this day, we have only seen the clean light 6 times. We have been through 2 different repair companies, 9 emails to KitchenAid, too many phone calls to count, a new control board, being told to turn up our water heater, being told to run the hot water in the sink every time the machine drains and refills, telling us our pipes are bad, maybe it is the motor, the heating element, the control panel again, etc. What we have determined on our own is that the Pro-Wash & Heavy Duty Cycles will not complete. Normal wash and 1 hour wash will complete occasionally as long as the heat dry option is not on. Currently the latest repairman (an outside vendor who in his defense has really tried to work with the company) is waiting for KitchenAid to get back to him. KitchenAid has already told us our warranty does not include replacement, only repair. Well, at this point, I dont expect we will be getting even the repair had. The guy was in my kitchen less than 10 minutes and told me that the control board has failed and KitchenAid does not have spare parts for fixing the control board. He charged me $90 dollars and left. I am now left with this useless built in refrigerator and I have no hope that KitchenAid will help me in any way. I WILL NEVER buy another KitchenAid product.

Unfortunately, I am joining a long list of customers who purchased the Kitchen Aid Superba microwave oven/oven built-in combination. After less than 5 years, the bottom oven door locks, without warning or just cause. KitchenAid is aware of this manufacturer defect, but chooses to ignore it, and refuse to resolve this issue. Turning off the circuit breaker should reset the computer, but dont count on it. The other solution you may be given is to turn on the self clean feature, cancel it after 2-3 minutes, and hopefully it will unlock. I am appalled that managers like Kia (ID 8592), has no concern for customers. Kia basically stated that after one year, warranties expire, it becomes the customers problem. The licensed technicians are stumped to fix the problem, but wont tell you until they collect a service call fee. What is even more outrageous is the model and serial number are inside the oven, but when the door is locked, you cannot not see the number. It is a no-brainer to relocate the model and serial number, so it is accessible when the oven locks up, because it will. The bottomline is, a class action lawsuit needs to be filed, and a national recall needs to go into effect. Please send me an email if you want to be included in this lawsuit. Send facts with your complete information to **. This is an obvious manufacturer defect which is a hazard. The oven light will not turn off, and the oven door locks for no apparent reason. I am writing to the president Mark Bitzer and the CEO Jeff Fettig about the issues that should be a concern to them. Others experiencing this problem should write to them at ** Benson, MI 49022.

I have stopped using the oven as it gives me headaches and makes my kitchen very hot.

We have now had eleven service calls with the tech here up to three hours a call. The control panel has been replaced three times. The key board once. The sensor once. The temperature still goes from 325 degrees to 386 degrees after preheating two cycles. The bottom door hinges have been replaced twice with no change. Door still does not close properly resulting in bottom element not coming on. Whirlpool says this is all acceptable. For a supposed top of line stove, one should be able to bake without burning or undercooking. The manual says the oven temperatures are accurate. Not so!!

Why is it so difficult to make dependable products these days? We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in January 2013 and the control panel went out twice within the first year and now it is out again and the dishwasher will not run. The model number according to the inside of the machine is W10502126A. Now I just purchased a one year parts/labor warranty which was not cheap to have them come out to replace the panel. I bought the warranty because something tells me this is not a permanent fix rather a band aid as I think it will go out again before the year is up. Expensively made cheap product.

I loved my two year old KitchenAid Dishwashers until it started falling apart. Literally, we found disintegrated plastic pieces and ball bearings in the dishwasher. The plastic and ball bearings are part of the rolling racks. Seriously? The dishwasher is only two years old and it is disintegrating before our eyes. I couldnt believe it. Then I started to Google KitchenAid Dishwashers and ball bearings immediately popped up - indicating clearly other customers have had the identical problem. KitchenAid - what can we do??? Should I buy replacement parts? Advise us please!

I bought the KDTM604 top of the line dishwasher on July 26, 2020 from Lowes. I spent good money and had to wait forever. Well I am sitting here today writing a review because two weeks ago it broke and the service man was just able to come check it. So the pump is already broken. Before you wonder I must say, I am single so I do not use my dishwasher a lot and I do not use the highest setting. I use all the products they told me to use including the all important RinseAid (which I do love). So if you do buy this product get an extended warranty, but I would just not buy this product.

I have a KitchenAid Model KHHC2090SSS-2 Architect series. I have an extensive experience with concerns regarding this model. I replaced it once under warranty because it was arcing, and finally died completely. A year later, the microwave began to start on its own. There is nothing like walking into your kitchen and finding out the your microwave started it, set the cook time for an hour, and had already been running for 6 minutes. I called KitchenAid, and they immediately sent me to their safety department. They offered to fix it free of charge. Well, 4 months after being repaired, it started doing this again. After investigating this more, I have learned that KitchenAid has this problem, and Consumer Reports did an extensive investigation. Other models are involved. Fires have occurred. Buyer beware - these microwaves are a huge safety hazard.

I purchased this dishwasher in October 2011 which was a Kitchen Aid model KUDC10IXWH4. This was installed in a basement kitchen which is only used at New Years and Easter and is run for a total of 10 loads per year. The control panel failed within the first five loads and we needed factory service. When the service tech arrived I was informed that we had to pay the labor and service call. This failure was in early 2102 after the unit was run for the New Year holiday. We were told by the tech that we should consider the extended warranty because these units constantly fail. The unit starts by itself. The thermal fuse fails about every 6th load at a replacement cost of $138 per trip. Kitchen Aid is absolutely useless in this process and deny any responsibility in this matter. As this unit has just been run enough to empty the sample bottle of Jet Dry and had for service calls I would tell anyone never to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance as we will not ever again. Their customer service is horrible!

A KitchenAid KEBS207BSS01 Double Oven came with a new house we purchased. The first time we self-cleaned the oven, the blue porcelain flaked off the convection cover, exposing bare metal. KitchenAid Customer Service stated this was a cosmetic problem not covered by warranty, since the oven was still functioning properly. I replied that the self clean feature was a function that was obviously not designed to chip off the oven interior, and therefore not functioning properly. They suggested a purchase a blue pen from Amazon that could be used to paint over the chipped interior. Incredibly poor product quality and customer service.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

I have read reviews of the oven shutting down when cleaning both but not using. If this is the case, why isnt there a recall on these ovens? I purchased a microwave oven, model KBMS1454SBL-1. About a year and a half into the product, the dashboard lights went out and stopped working. I went to the KitchenAid website and filled out their contact form in which they referenced I visit their service page. I filled everything out in on the service page. On that page it indicates the following: If your appliance is not under warranty or covered by a service contract, then the charge for the technician to come to your home will cover diagnosing the problem with the appliance, and a written estimate for the repair. To me that is vague. Does that mean that once the technician will do the repair, then I will be charged? Oh and also how much will I be charged? Well here is what happened. On March 23rd, 2013 I waited all day at home (wasting my time) waiting for this technician to come out. A representative from a company called A&E Factory Service came, looked at my unit and said, Oh, the dashboard doesnt work. It will cost $250 to replace it. I said, That is too much. Dont worry about it. I can order the part myself and do it myself as well. But it does not end here. He explained that now I have to pay him $129 for his service. I exclaimed why. He said, Well, that is what it costs! I was shocked. At no point did KitchenAid or A&E inform me of the cost for this service.April 26th I finally have time to call A&E and tell them I want a refund because no one at any point asked me if I wanted a service for $129. They explained that they would not give me a refund. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with them and another 40 with KitchenAid, each blaming each other or saying that I should have assumed that it would not be free. But if KitchenAid does not state the cost and the contractor A&E doesnt explain how much prior to, how is that a fair practice? My service order number with A&E is **.I will never buy a KitchenAid product again. A&E explained that it does happen sometimes and that I should ask the KitchenAid management to do a conference call with A&E to get a refund. I called Kitchen Aid and they dont even consider the idea. They just say, Its not our problem. Your product is out of warranty so its not our problem. What a joke. A company that truly can give a rats ** about its products or customers! If I had wanted someone local to fix my problem like A&E and called them myself instead of doing the service through KitchenAid, A&E explained that they would have informed me prior to coming out. But because I did it through KitchenAid, then its not their problem. They are only supposed to show up, diagnose, collect money and then leave. Nice little partnership they got going! Screw the little guy, then waste his time and then try to overcharge for a part. Unbelievable! Never again! I will stick to brands that actually go out of their way and help their customers, whether a product is in warranty or not! Never again!

I purchased microwave/hood combo in October 2010, installed November 2010. Unit no longer heats as of mid December 2011. I did not want microwave in the way for holidays so I contacted them in January. The second service call, I was informed element inside turntable had melted. After several more service calls, six all together, my unit has been on my dining room table for almost three months. Repeated calls to Whirlpool/KitchenAid have gotten me nowhere. I maintained that if part of the turntable melted, unit must be defective. I now have to pay $315 to get the unit replaced. They have no concern that I missed work on numerous occasions for failed service calls or that I paid for initial service call. If product is defective, it should be replaced without further cost to me.

22.6 ft counter-depth model ksc23c8eyy02 - Weve had this fridge for over a year and after the third service call, should have sent it back as a lemon. We bought a Kitchen Aid because the one we were replacing is a 17-year-old Kitchen Aid SuperBa thats now in our garage, still working. Number of service calls in past year: 3, soon to be 4. We bought a Lowes extended warranty so I have only been dealing with Lowes contract service, not KitchenAid. I have no complaints about KitchenAid service, just the quality of their product.Pros: I gave it an extra star because its so pretty. Cool functionality, easy to keep clean. Stainless surface will hold magnets, too. Cons: Ice maker has only worked twice. Ice freezes into a large block since its on the door. We buy ice and pour it in, but the ice dispenser freezes up and does not dispense at all. Lowes contracted service technicians replaced the ice maker at 5 months after purchase and it worked for about a month before it stopped making ice again. I have not had time to call and take a day off work for yet another service call. Water dispenser doesnt work unless fridge temp is set above 40 F. The technician explained that the engineering is such that the water line is too close to the coils as it passes through the fridge and it freezes. So, the water line freezes and does not work unless you keep the fridge above 40F (and then the milk goes bad before the date during the summer months). The doors are not balanced or smooth in closing and the freezer door has been left a crack open several times because you have to push it to make sure its closed. They have been here to adjust the doors at least twice. I am so very disappointed in this fridge. I have many Kitchen Aid appliances and was always willing to pay extra for the quality, but I didnt get that this time.

If I could rate this company any lower, I would. I have a Kitchen Aid microwave (TR71834046), Refrigerator (KRFF707ESS01), and dishwasher (KDTE334GPS0). All were purchased 3 years ago along with a range. I have had to file 10 different claims on the items listed above in those 3 years. I also have had to purchase several warranties and extensions to make sure I am not completely screwed. For how much money I have spent, you’d think their customer service would at least be worth it. Think again. You have to wait for at least 1 hour before ever talking to anyone. So I’ve spent well over 10 hours just on hold with this god awful company. Each time they then set up a date in the not so near future for a repair company to come out and sometimes even then the job is far from over. I am now awaiting a company to come fix 3 different things on 2 different appliances. This after they were just out 3 weeks ago repairing something else. I HIGHLY recommend you stay VERY FAR away from Kitchen Aid. This company is absolute trash and uses the cheapest of plastic to make their products. I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from them again.
