KitchenAid Distancia Garantia

The warranty for KitchenAid ranges may vary depending on the specific model and location. However, in general, KitchenAid ranges come with a one-year limited warranty, which covers any defects in materials or workmanship.

During the warranty period, KitchenAid will provide free repair or replacement of any parts that are found to be defective. The warranty may not cover damages caused by misuse, abuse, or improper installation.

Additionally, some KitchenAid range models come with extended warranty options, which may include additional years of coverage for an additional cost. It's always a good idea to read the warranty information that comes with your specific KitchenAid range model, or to check the KitchenAid website for the most up-to-date warranty information.

If you have any questions or concerns about your KitchenAid range, you can contact KitchenAid's customer service for assistance.

So Im cooking some chicken on the back burner of my KitchenAid Superba when suddenly without any warning the glass shattered all over the stove and into my food and almost in my face. Im not happy and Im just glad that my grandchildren were in the kitchen as usual because I watch them all the time, I just didnt happen to have them tonight.

On March 25th 2015, our carbon monoxide detector went off. The local fire department came and they determined that the source of the carbon monoxide leak was our Kitchen Aid slide in range-oven. They supplied a report that outlined this. They shut off the propane supply and pulled range out of position and said we could not use this appliance until problem was fixed. We notified Kitchen Aid customer service on 03/26/15 (appliance under mfg warranty), and explained the situation. This issue was passed on to their safety department. The safety department did not respond to us until 03/27, and they explained that they needed a carbon monoxide meter to service our appliance, which they did not have available. We have been in contact with them every day since the incident happened, and we still do not have an appointment from service department to resolve our issue. The excuse everyday is that they are waiting for carbon monoxide meter to come back to them from the field to send to our local appliance repair center, and in turn to come to our home. This is not acceptable, and we need to help, now, to resolve this issue.

Bought the range in March of this year for my mom. The salesman said the KitchenAid was a good brand (upper middle market), it has good looks, and a large oven. What he failed to mention is that they typically last 3-4 weeks, and you shouldn’t use them for cooking or they may get damaged :(. Within days of use enamel started falling off in the oven cavity - very dangerous when it lands on food, a couple months after the plastic door trim started peeling off and lately the cooktop scratched. We are extremely careful with all our appliances, we still use our green Admiral stove from the 60s and it is mint condition - I don’t understand how the KitchenAid stove can be so poorly built. I thought I was getting better value but in hindsight I should have gotten the basic GE stove. In conclusion, I do not recommend the stove, unless it is for display only, you are better off getting one at Goodwill.

I would not buy this stove again. The “baking” oven is worthless. The stove itself cooks irregularly. The sensor pads which operate the stove are badly placed. The range top is pretty good but the grates are big and moving them to clean around the burners is cumbersome.

This product is an expensive piece of junk. I would not recommend it and beware before buying. Two years ago, I purchased a 24 KitchenAid electric wall oven (Superba) which never worked properly from the beginning. I thought I didnt read the recipe correctly! It never thoroughly baked/roasted in the center and now, the outside of the cake is baked but the inside is raw. Same with roasting meats. The same applies for both regular bake and convection.

Purchased range KSEG950E in January 2016. The oven never has worked properly. I have had service out at least a dozen times. Purchased the extended warranty out of necessity and have regularly had technicians out for service. I’m told each time that there is nothing wrong. My oven does not hold temperature. I set it and it will vary up or down 50-75 degrees during baking time. This is totally unacceptable to me as a baker. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid, I usually love their products. We are about to trash this very expensive range and buy another brand!

Superba YKEBC107KM - 2 issues; Door hinges seized and new thermostat blew after one self clean. 2 authorized repairmen failed to fix my door hinge problem. The 2nd guy said it would be $600 parts & labor in addition to the $150 service call that left my oven torn apart! I ordered new hinges and receivers from Partselect.ca and installed them myself. All good. I thought it would be smart to replace the 12 year old thermostat while I had the unit out. The replacement thermostat blew with the first self clean cycle. Partselect sent me a replacement which I just installed (now Im a pro at working on this unit!). I suspect the part is NOT at fault. Its more likely the lack of ventilation in the cabinet space to dissipate the extreme heat created during self clean. The thermostat is actually working properly. It senses the operating temperature has risen beyond what the components can handle and shuts it down. Unfortunately, this solution is not prioritized by manufacturers and technicians. The feature is what sells more units. So its true; more bells and whistles doesnt necessarily mean better! KA will not give consumers any insight into repair of their products. It is a racket that insulates the manufacturers through the technicians, financed by the consumer.

After installing a Kitchenaid Microwave Convection oven we found that the door steamed to total fog, remaining this way often for 24-30 hours. After a service call and a recommendation to replace the unit by the service people, the exchange was denied by the product exchange department - who did not even have the grace to call and tell me of the denial. After protesting that 24-30 hours is not acceptable for a door to fog over (never has happened with any other microwave oven I have owned) was not normal, I was told point blank that the product exchange department has the last word and it is final. It is a $500 unit and I cannot believe that they would not just exchange it. I am a designer who specifies products often - I will not work with Kitchenaid again based on this experience.

We purchased this refrigerator, along with an entire line of KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, microwave, even a toaster oven). It has been a disaster since day one. The doors have never aligned correctly (as seen reviewed before) and the ice maker stopped working early on and water ran and ruined my wood floor (as reviewed before). But, the main problem is with the coils in the refrigerator that consistently ice up, allowing no air flow, therefore no cooling (which has been reviewed before). Obviously, this leads to spoiling food, which we have replaced numerous times due to the problem. Now, we keep a thermometer in it at all times, so once we see it start getting warmer, we have to take apart the refrigerator to defrost the ice that has covered the coils. We have had this problem serviced four or five times. Each time replacing various parts... the last time pretty much replacing EVERYTHING INTERNALLY.The service techs admit this is a problem, due to the dual compressor KitchenAid tried to do with this model. Even store salespeople admit it didnt work and has been changed. Well, enough is enough. I want a new refrigerator, not a replacement, not any more service calls. But, I have been told that I need to wait until it fails again, then call customer service again to report the problem. Someone will have to come out again and assess the problem... Should I just leave the rancid food in there for them to take back to KitchenAid with them once they come? Come on KitchenAid... read the file. Its all there in black and white... every single service call. Time to fess up and fix the problem, with a NEW refrigerator.

While cooking a roast at 225, which should have taken eight hours, the oven went into the broiler mode at the two-hour mark. If we were not at home, we would have had smoke damage to the interior of the house. The door locked and could not be opened. All controls failed and we had to shut off the breaker. After cooling down for one hour, the door opened and we removed the black pork roast. The oven is still in the broiler mode on high and will not shut off.

We have had two kitchenaid ranges in the last two years. The first one burnt up twice on the self-clean cycle and was replaced by a range with a higher speed blower fan that is extremely loud and annoying. Kitchenaid replaced the fan twice and have come to a conclusion that this is normal. When I first contacted Kitchenaid, their comment was we have had no noisy fan complaints. Service techs they have replaced many. Kitchenaid have told us they no longer going to help us with the noisy fan as it is normal. We are now stuck with a $2200 range. We will never buy kitchenaid junk again.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

Last night our KitchenAid oven locked at the end of an hour long chicken bake at 350 degrees. I turned the bake knob off immediately. Within 15 minutes, the inside of the oven was on fire. Firemen arrived and by then, the glass front was broken and they put out the flames. Luckily, it was contained within the oven but of course, time for a new range now. Approx 10 years of use was fine for many years but this computer problem of locking and the very hot self cleaning feature just coming on by itself is ridiculously unsafe! Who knew a product could be so poorly designed that it would do this, start a fire by self locking and then heating up to serious temperatures!

We purchased a white Kitchen Aid gas range (model #KGRS206XWH2). Less than two months after installation, the lettering on the burner control knobs is dissolving off, and smears off with the touch of a finger. I called Kitchen Aid for new knobs, and they said they would send new control knobs as a one time courtesy. They do not consider it under warranty, as they call it a cosmetic issue. No chemicals, or abrasives have been used on these knobs. It is not a cosmetic issue, its an engineering defect, and a safety issue. Unless you want to live for years, with a range that has no lettering on the burner control knobs, dont purchase this range!

All Kitchen Aid appliances were bought for a purchased home. Accidentally, a pan hit the oven window glass and broke it. Kitchen Aid or its parent company had zero replacements of glass or whole doors. Zippo...anywhere. I had to repurchase a new stove so I ad an oven to use! Literally, thousands of dollars wasted. I have a Kitchen Aid refrigerator and it is poorly manufactured as well. I had to replace the stove/oven and purchased a GE. I would strongly urge others to not buy this brand. Ever.

I bought KitchenAid built-in microwave oven, model KCMS185JBL, and started to use it in June 2004. For the last year, the turn-table would sometimes stop and hesitate then turn again. Today (6/23/2012), the microwave would run with a rough and loud sound but it does not heat the food. For the price I paid, it should not have gone bad after 8 years. I have had a GE counter top microwave since 1996 (cost $299) and still running with no problem.

Stay away from the Steam Oven. We purchased this double wall oven which is a high-end Steam Oven on October 9, 2014. I cleaned it for the first time last week. The door does not seal between the panes. They are now streaked. There are big stains in the floor of each oven from the steam cooking. This is not able to be cleaned. I called Kitchen Aid, 800-422-1230. I was told the staining is normal. It is considered cosmetic and not covered under warranty. The doors are also cosmetic, even though I would need a repair man to disassemble the doors in order to clean them. I would not purchase this high-end item again, EVER. Although it cooks wonderfully, I want it to look clean. I am going to pull out the oven and purchase a different unit because having a double wall oven that cannot be cleaned is out of the picture in my house, as I am sure it is in yours.

I have purchased two KitchenAid gas ranges (yes, I should have learned my lesson the first time!). Both have been seriously problematic. Within a year of purchase, both locked up when I cleaned them for the first time, and I could not use them without a tech coming to my house to repair. One of those ranges had a faulty fan which did damage to another part due to overheating during the cleaning process, which resulted in damage to other parts! Most recently, the electronic range control on my Architect II went on my three-year-old gas range. So back to the repair techs. I will never purchase another KitchenAid stove. Based upon my experience and that of others, they are simply poorly manufactured and not reputable. Repair costs are ridiculous and I am thinking of replacing mine due to the high repair costs and lack of faith in this happening once again, at a time when I really need to use the stove!

I have purchased a KitchenAid oven. Never again. It takes over 12 minutes to heat up. All the while it is running, it is loud. The burners take forever to get hot also. I have also purchased a refrigerator. The ice maker is awful...Its too small and doesnt make ice fast enough. The other product from KitchenAid I purchased is a front load washer and dryer. The washer needs to be cleaned all the time. I was not told that. The dryers lint catcher, for a large capacity dryer, is so small, its ridiculous. None of these things were mentioned to me. I would have never purchased these appliance if I knew! Very upset buyer.

I purchased a suite of Kitchen Aid products in July 2011 from Art Handlers Appliance Center. Refrigerator, dishwasher, gas convection oven and range and microwave. They were installed in my new home. To date, the handle on my microwave didnt just come off, the plastic broke. It just doesnt heat food quickly and is the noisiest microwave ever. The range has knobs on the front and the writing on all the knobs came off within one month. Im currently on my third set of knobs and they now have no writing on them at all. Therefore if anyone else uses the range they have no idea what they are doing. Also, unless you lock the unit, if you lean over it to get something out of a cabinet, you can easily turn it on with your body without knowing it. Overall, this is a dangerous unit to own.

I purchased KSSO42QTX refrigerator in December of 2011. It cost over $5,000.00. Within 3 months, the unit had frost and ice accumulating in the freezer and poor cooling (high temperature) in refrigerator leading to spoiled, wasted food and on several occasions, illness due to spoilage. I contacted KitchenAid on several occasions over a two-month period and was directed to defrost unit and start over. When the problem persisted, they finally agreed to send a technician. The independently contracted technician found defective fans, motors and gaskets. I requested that the unit be replaced being that it was a lemon, having proven defective after only 3 months of usage. The technician and KitchenAid customer service said they will repair, but not replace the refrigerator. I was told to defrost and shut off the refrigerator. I waited for approximately two weeks for the independent repair company to receive the new parts and make a return appointment. When they arrived, they realized that they had been sent the correct fan parts, but not the correct gaskets. The technician refused to repair the fan as he only gets paid at the completion of the job and refused to repair the fan, which would have created an appropriate cooling environment for food storage. We are currently waiting, again, for over 1 week for the new part to be delivered. I have now been without the use of a refrigerator for approximately 3 weeks in sweltering summer heat. My wife has had to take 2 days off from work to accommodate the technicians schedule and will be required to take another day leave from work to accommodate for another appointment.Throughout this process, KitchenAid customer service has been terrible. They were unconcerned that our refrigerator has been spoiling food. They were unconcerned that the unit proved to be defective after 3 months of usage. They were unconcerned that we have no refrigerator in the middle of a summer with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees. They were unconcerned that we had several instances of illness due to spoiled food. They have been unwilling to replace the lemon refrigerator, which broke within 3 months of purchase. They have been unwilling to expedite any service or delivery of parts in order to alleviate this egregious situation. They refused to use expedited mail service. They refused to appoint another independent technician when the one originally assigned refused to provide timely service. We are still waiting for the repair to be completed. I have been offered no compensation for the trouble that I have had due to the lemon refrigerator.

We have had this range for 6 years. If you check the service calls, 3 have been for the oven not reaching maximum temperature. Each service call is close to or more than $200.00. The temperature works for a while and then returns to 259 degrees. Never been fixed properly. Now we have an error F2E1, service call $125.00. The repairman said we have an error F2E1 and we would have to order a new keyboard. Really $125.00 to tell us what we already knew. Now, to make matters worse he said this part, estimated cost $500.00, may not correct the problem and further work/parts would be needed and he wouldnt know until he tried the new part. The most frustrating part is he said the keyboard part could not be returned if further work was necessary thus increasing the price and that couldnt be determined until he started the work! So, we have decided to buy a new gas range and a new fridge and obviously neither one will be a KitchenAid.

I have had this Electric range KSEG950E for about 2 years and have had major problems with its self-cleaning technology. For starters, it simply doesnt work, even after repeated cycles. Cleaning out the water after the cycle is finished is tiresome. And the side and back panels never come clean. Its nearly impossible to scrub out these areas, as you can only use nonabrasive pads, and the oven is so deep, you cant reach in far enough to clean effectively. Even soil on the reachable areas is a challenge to clean, using only the recommended non-scratch scrubbing sponges and fresh kitchen appliance cleaner (the addition of which is recommended for hard to remove soil).Im not a heavy oven user and have tried to clean oven at the slightest sign of soil build-up. Once more, being 5 7, Id think that reaching around inside the oven to scrub should be easy. But after the lengthy clean-up sessions, I hardly need to go to the gym for exercise! Surfing the net, I see that Im not the only very dissatisfied customer! It may be good publicity to have low-energy cleaning technology. But if it doesnt work well, it cant earn high marks for the company.

I purchased, unfortunately, the complete upper end Kitchenaid appliance for our kitchen 5 years ago from Home Depot and with the extended warranty with Asurion. Within 2 years the dishwasher had many problems that required several repairs: new computer board, new pump, new door, new seals, new wash arms and more. The self clean for the oven never works at all and never fixed. The microwave often refuse to work at all and must unplug and wait 15 or more minutes to work and never fixed. The worse... the $3500 French door refrigerator freezer has died 4 times. Needs new defective wire system that the fix damaged interior parts that were never covered or fixed. Next the freezer fans died. Next the ice maker stopped making ice...still waiting for that fix. And now the water will not flow as well. And each time we must shut it down and lose lots of food. Asurion coverage is slow and limited and uses distant repair companies that break things and never follow through for many weeks. Do not buy their coverage. Home Depot never back these awful appliance either. And Kitchenaid simply does not care and says sorry its is not their problem. Worse appliance I ever had in over 50 years. Avoid at all costs.

Very well made microwave. Love that it matches the other appliances. It has so many features! From melting butter to baking a pizza on the pan that is included with the microwave. No problems as of yet in the 3 years we have had the microwave. It is stainless steel and looks pretty. The only slight improvement I would make, is it would be nice to have a flatter looking front. It reminds me of a spaceship with the way it bows out from the door front. But I do like that underneath it is angled up towards the front, so it allows for more working space on the stove top that it sits over. Over all I am really pleased with the purchase.

The last time I talked to a service manager, she refused to pay for the labor, so I called her back three times and told her to mail us the part since it was free and she never called us back. Finally they sent the part. They always say the part is covered under warranty but we have to pay for the $150 labor charge. One time they paid for the guy to come and tell us what was wrong but wouldnt pay for him to come back and put the warranty item in!? Our oven latch constantly gets stuck and I have to keep hitting self clean on and off until the stupid thing can unlock itself. Now the latch keeps the door from closing all the way and then the oven will not heat up properly. The one customer service girl asked me if we unplugged the oven and I said no then she proceeded to tell me I had to pay $150 for the service guy to come and look at it. When I asked her why she wanted to know if I had unplugged the oven, she told me, “Well, that resets the computer”. Why wouldnt you tell me to try that first?! Because that worked! Their customer service department is useless!

After about 6 times I asked the repair man what could be causing this to blow and he said, I see this all the time so dont use your self-cleaning and it wont happen. Why buy self-cleaning if you cannot use it? So I used it again before Thanksgiving and another repair man from another company came out and had to order the fuse so no oven for Thanksgiving. I told him something must be causing the fuse to blow with the extreme heat cleaning the oven. He told me the same thing the other repairman said, Dont clean it. I have owned a double KitchenAid oven in the past that was wonderful and never had a problem. My other appliances are KitchenAid but after paying all this money for what I thought was one of the best I will never buy KitchenAid again.

We remodeled our Kitchen and we bought a new oven, microwave, dishwasher, warmer all KitchenAid appliances. First time we heated up the oven to 350 degrees, it heated up to over 500 degree and burnt the bottom of the oven. The temperature settings are very off and wrong, everything we cook we have to use set it very low to get it to cook properly. Dishwasher does not clean correctly and it was leaking, they did come in and adjust it. It kind of works now. The Microwave has been repaired twice in the first year, and this model cost $1000. The warmer works fine.I will never buy anything KitchenAid ever again. We have had nothing but 3 years of issues, and the customer service repair guy did not have a clue on how to fix any of these appliances so he just keeps ordering parts and wasting our time for this $1000 microwave. Really disappointed in KitchenAid. They are the worst and most terrible customer service team. They never offered to replace any of the appliances and when we unpacked the microwave it had a ding in the front of it.

I paid for high-end KitchenAid appliances because of the reputation of quality and service, and Ive experienced nothing but the opposite; in 2 years, my refrigerator needed a cooling element replaced, my oven glass exploded across my kitchen (thank goodness my children were not standing there!), a heating element in my convection microwave needed to be replaced, and most recently a door switch in the microwave needed replacing because it was causing it to not operate. This last repair, I was out of the 2-year warranty by one month, and they are refusing to cover the $142 cost of the repair. They dont stand by their products. In 2 years, for the thousands of dollars we paid, nothing should go wrong with any appliances, let alone these many occurrences. And to not cover a repair being 1 month past warranty, especially with all of the other problems Ive had, even just to save face, is ridiculous for such a large company.

We purchased a combination oven & microwave/convection oven in 2008, the microwave recently began to not heat food and drinks. We notified KitchenAid and were referred to a local repair who diagnosed the problem and said it would require a new magnetron and control board, with labor the cost would be $650+, we decided the cost of the repair was much less than a new oven and microwave and committed to the repair. Repair was made, microwave now functions/heats food and drinks at a fraction of the previous level. Had repairman return today to diagnose and repair again. He proceeded to do test as dictated by KitchenAids factory tech on the phone with him, fill vessel with 10oz. of water, check temperature, heat for 30 seconds and check again. The difference was +20 degrees hotter which is the lowest level of their benchmark for acceptable being acceptable.Bottom line is it still doesnt heat as it did before the $650+ repair. I then spoke with rep at Kitchenaid for an hour expressing my displeasure and asking for help, their answer’s sorry but its a 10-11 year old appliance and they dont perform as well when theyre that old is the final word from them. My question to her was why didnt anyone mention that before we committed to the repair, she was silent on that. Sooo, I will not advocate KitchenAid as a quality product again much less purchase another of their appliances. I will advise others to look elsewhere when shopping for appliances! I have also filed a dispute with my credit card company in an effort to recover some of the cost we incurred.

When I had my brand new Superba Microwave Convection Oven installed, it did not work. The light came on and the timer counted down as if the oven was on but the microwave never turned on. The manufacturer would not replace it and I was furious. The warranty only covers repairs. It never worked from day 1. After three visits by repairmen over 7 weeks, the broken part, the appliance manager was installed and it worked temporarily. Then a few weeks later, the same thing happened. My builder was disgusted and took the oven out and gave me a brand new model (Whirlpool/KitchenAid wouldn’t). It was the same model but a brand new unit. After a few months, I had a similar problem and the repairman came out. And guess what, it’s the appliance manager again. I do not want this model back in my house. I am struggling to get another model as I have no trust in the Superba model. It is a Superba piece of crap.

Our KitchenAid built-in electric/convection oven started a fire and burnt a turkey to a crisp because I made the oh-so-unthinkable mistake of basting it during cooking. The repairman came out and said its normal for the broiler to come on during the cooking cycle if the oven temperature falls, but I cant see how any appliance manufacturer can think this is a good idea. Aside from the fact that this feature makes conventional roasting and other types of cooking impossible, more critically, it represents a serious design flaw that makes the oven a fire hazard. I have contacted the CEO of Whirlpool about this hazard but I do not expect any satisfaction given the response KitchenAid had when a cheap relay on our 13-month-old refrigerator failed causing the temperature to rise and all the food within to spoil. They simply told us that since the fridge was one month past the warranty, it wasnt their problem. How can they justify making appliances that have the potential to harm people?

I have a house in New Jersey that was affected by Sandy. When installing the new kitchen I decided to buy KitchenAid appliances since I had them in my house in Florida and loved them. WHAT A MISTAKE!! I have had the range serviced 4 times now for the same problem (oven not lighting). It was recommended by the store where I bought the range that I should call Whirlpool and request a replacement. The answer I got from Whirlpool was that the warranty does not cover replacement only repairs. So keep in mind when buying KitchenAid that if you get a lemon like I did, you are going to be stuck with it and just keep getting service until your warranty expires. Also, once you get into the extended warranty period (if you still own it by then), you may have more issues. I havent reached that point yet and dont think I will. I think by then I will have replaced this range with a GE.

We have had the repairman out for repair on the iced up ice maker 3 times. The compressor has been changed once. Yesterday, we were told the panel was defective, to the tune of $500 for repair. And no, the warranty is not still in affect, despite having these problems with this fridge before. I am frustrated. Whirlpool, Lowes and the Kitchen Aid repair people are not helpful. We have had this range since March and it is a huge disappointment! On four different occasions the control panel has blown and shut down the power to the range. In order to restart it we had to reset the circuit breaker. After the second call to service we were told that we should put the stove on a separate circuit by itself. We hired an electrician and had a separate circuit put in for the stove. After the third outage KitchenAid replaced the control panel, but last week it went out again.Next problem is that the knobs and front panel get extremely hot when you run the oven for more than 30 minutes. You need a potholder to turn the knobs. Reported this concern to safety dept. who sent the serviceman again to test the temperature. It was 140 degrees at the knobs, but 160 is the legal heat level. A child could easily burn their hands. Lastly, the AquaClean does not work very well. The edges dont come clean and the large glass door is impossible to clean. There is heavy grease stains all on the glass that cant be removed. This range is not acceptable and is not recommended. There doesnt seem to be any resolution.

We did a total kitchen remodel in 2003 and used KitchenAid Architectural Series appliances. Were a household of 2 adults, and we take great care of everything and the refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, microwave and cooktop look like new. The 36 gas cooktop with 4 burners and a grill Model KGCP462KSS0 ignitor went out. We had that part replaced and found that the wiring harness part 8284974 had malfunctioned as well. I called KitchenAid only to find the part is no longer manufactured. They offer no alternate, no help in having a new one manufactured. Bottom line is, the effective life span is 8 years. Replacement is $3000+; the granite is cut for this appliance as well. Moral of the story - never buy another KitchenAid appliance!

We bought a KitchenAid stainless steel stove, dishwasher and fridge in February 2018. The fridge began to show rust spots within the first year. We followed all advice to treat and prevent them but they still occur and at this point, the fridge looks awful. I can only assume after all our efforts that the quality of the stainless steel in these appliances is at fault, and would not recommend this brand. I also find it odd that this issue is not covered by warranty. If something is sold as stainless steel then I expect that it should remain so as long as I am following the manufacturers instructions.

I purchased my KitchenAid French door fridge (Model # KFCS22EVWH2) new in Jan. of 2012. It is now September 2012 and I have a river flowing out of the bottom of my fridge. I have hardwood floors and the water is destroying them. I called Customer Service and a repairman came today. He explained that he reports this problem every day to KitchenAid. Apparently there is a small hole at the back of the freezer that allows condensation to drip into a pan under the freezer. When that hole becomes plugged, the water does not drain and creates an ice dam. When my kitchen heats up from weather or cooking, the ice melts and flows out of the freezer onto my floor. The only way to fix it is to unplug the fridge, let it defrost for 2 days and then plug it back in. Well, that does not fly with me. My husband and I are handicapped and we cannot go through this process every six months to save our floor. This is ridiculous. I called the company back and was told that this is new to them (right!) and they are sending another repair person in tomorrow. I dont know how this will turn out but I do know that I am not very happy right now. Can I trust the person tomorrow to tell me the truth? If he does get it to work, will the problem return after the warranty is up? Who fixes my floor? In all fairness to KitchenAid, I will post the results of tomorrows visit and a follow-up in a few months. I am in hopes that they will take care of this for me without a problem. I purchased a dishwasher and stove at the same time (also KitchenAid) so I hope that this is isolated and not an across-the-board disaster.

Called Kitchen Aid to advise that my stainless steel Kitchen Aid refrigerator began developing rust marks 2 years after purchase despite using stainless steel cleaning product recommended. Advised that cosmetics such as rust or discoloration after 30 days from date of purchase are not something they will address. Advised that they do not sell warranty for rust or discoloration. My Kitchen Aid stainless steel range which was purchased at the same time also has a spot where it is discolored. I expect this is only the beginning. The stainless steel used is manufacturing Kitchen Aid is obviously VERY poor quality. When I asked both the customer rep and the manager if Kitchen Aid considered it okay that their products should begin rusting after 2 years, they stated that they were only saying that after 30 days cosmetic issues like rust and other discoloration is not something they can help with. Nor is it something that they will warrant. If you are looking for your appliances to look good in your kitchen for more than a couple of years, I do not recommend Kitchen Aid.

On 2/4/12, I purchased a Kitchen Aid double oven microwave unit nearly three years ago, when doing a kitchen remodel. All the appliances are Kitchen Aid, thinking we were purchasing a good, reliable brand name. Yesterday, I placed the oven in the self cleaning mode. After about 2 and a half hours, the inner glass panel on the oven door exploded, sending hot, shattered glass onto the floor. The intensity of the heat cracked the new cabinet along the top of the oven. I called the service center, and they indicated there have been no recalls on this problem. I am horrified to think that if my grandchildren were present, they could have been injured. After reading other complaints on this website, I think Kitchen Aid needs to do a recall on this unit. By the way, they did not offer to replace the glass. They said the glass was covered, but not the two service calls to replace it, and the glass can only be ordered by a service technician.

My stand mixer had a bolt fall out while I was using it. I dont know where it came from, but now the stand wont stay locked down when I use it. I tie it down when I am using it. My fridge is the fancy freezer on the bottom, two-door type. There is a set of plastic drawers in the fridge that cant be used because the plastic frame that they hang on broke! My stove I have is a glass top slide-in convection oven. I have had the cooktop replaced, the front panel has been replaced twice, the meat thermometer sensor has had to be replaced twice and many more repairs. If anything overflows, the circuits blow and nothing on the cook top works for a few days until it is dried out. Last Thanksgiving, I had to cook my turkey on the barbeque and my oven didnt work for 6 weeks! Last night, a screw fell out of the bottom of the door and the inside and outside of the door was coming apart. I could see a screw was loose. I took the door off to fix it and had to take it apart. I decided to clean the glass while I had everything apart (my glass window was filthy because when anything overflows, the liquid goes down the panel and into the door). And when I was putting everything together, I heard a weird noise and the panes of the glass window shattered. These appliances cost me over $5000.00 and I bought them thinking I would never have to replace them. Ive contacted KitchenAid and they have sent people out to fix it. However, that is because Ive paid for an extended warranty. They will not replace the stove because a problem has to re-occur 3 times for it to be replaced. Meanwhile, they have paid $1000s in service repairs and are too obstinate to replace the stove which is obviously a lemon (like all my KitchenAid appliance). I am just sick about all the problems Ive had.

We purchased new Kitchen Aid Appliances for a total kitchen remodel 3 1/2 years ago. We also purchased the extended warranty from the people who sold us the fridge (Kitchen Aid Counter Depth Refrigerator with French Doors), range, and dishwasher. Both the range and the fridge have had problems within 2-3 years of use. The range had warranty (from the extended warranty coverage) repairs 3 separate times! Now, the fridges water valve stuck open and flooded the kitchen floor which is 3/4 inch tongue and groove maple hardwood. The extended warranty people (Repair Master) will only cover fridge repairs. (They deny they will cover any collateral damage.) We still have another year and a few months on the fridges extended warranty which would take it to the appliance being 5 years old. The extended warranty people said we have to go to Kitchen Aid for help with the floor damage. Just got off the phone with Kitchen Aid and they denied any obligation since their 1-year warranty was up. So, with what could be several thousand dollars of damage to the kitchen floor, we are forced to place a claim with our homeowners insurance! We have never paid more for appliances in our lifetimes (married 35 years) than we did for what was supposed to the top end appliances such as Kitchen Aid. And then, once Kitchen Aid has your money and a year out of you - you are on your own! We will never purchase Kitchen Aid again. They are simply not Worth IT! And the extended warranties are baloney too! You might as well save your money. Its too bad that big companies dont care about the little guy anymore! Think long and hard before you buy Kitchen Aid!

KitchenAid® 27-Inch Single Wall Oven, Architect® Series II - I purchased this Oven October 5, 2013. It was installed October 24, 2013. On December 31, 2013 it stopped working. I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

We have a KitchenAid Double Wall Oven purchased at Sears in 2001. Just now, fully out of the ten year warranty. Its model no. YKEBSDB3 and serial no. YK210XXXX.This unit has been nothing but trouble since we got it and we are at the point of replacing it. In Canada, this unit sells for over $3500.00. I never even thought to check consumer reports before we bought because I knew (ha!) that KitchenAid appliances were the top of the line, had an excellent reputation, and felt so lucky that I could financially buy such an excellent set of ovens for the first time in my life. Boy was I ever wrong.I wont go through the litany of issues we have had but they are similar to the rest of the complaints and issues stated previously. We had a Warranty with Sears which has now run out. I have to say the serviceman who does the warranty work for Sears was wonderful and I have no issues with him but, he also disclosed problems with several similar ovens. One easy fix: we have had issues with the door hinges/springs deteriorating and the doors not fully closing, hence the oven not warming. A quick fix is to buy two approximately 1 diameter rare earth magnets and place them on the sides of the door about 3 down from the top so as not to affect the electronic panel. They will keep your door tightly closed.I too, would join in any class action suit against KitchenAid/Whirlpool and will continue to badmouth the company at every opportunity until they had the decency to admit publicly that there are problems with these ovens and offer to repair them free of charge. Thanks for the platform to speak up.

In 2013 I purchased a KitchenAid package of appliances for my house. Since last year I have had the repair people out on 5 different occasions and I am still having issues. The model number is KFIS29PBMS02. Initially I was having issues with the ice maker and freezer and the PO code which means powers failure. I was told to have an electrician check the outlet which I did and it was fine. They then said it was a circuit board but didn’t know which one and they recommend replacing both which we did. No sooner did they leave and the code popped up again. They said it must have been a bad board and replaced another board. After they left it acted up again. Tech came out and said it was a bad deli board which is the last thing the company wants to replace due to the cost. I told them ice machine is still not working right. He said I may need a new machine. I couldn’t afford one at this point after taking numerous days off from work to meet the repairman. Fridge had also frozen up and the guy defrosted with his heat gun and said KitchenAid knows that the condensers are bad because they are aluminum and they have been replacing them. Fridge froze up again, ice maker makes ice randomly say a tray a week if lucky. I put bought ice in the dispenser and it melts. They are coming to replace the condenser this week after making arrangements for someone to stay at my house to wait for the repairman.Talked to different repairman today before he came and told him the problem and he said it may not be the condenser which is under warranty still (5 years). Frustrated as hell and think there is class action status here. Customer service at Kitchenaid sucks. They do not care and basically told me I didn’t put enough money out to qualify as a lemon.

I have a KitchenAid double wall oven, convection on top. While running the self-clean on the top oven for the first time, the oven door glass shattered about 1.5 hours into the cycle. There is a near identical complaint on this website. KitchenAid will cover the part, but not the labor. I had shattered hot glass all over my kitchen floor because it slides out the bottom crack. It got into the bottom oven, shards come out every time I open either oven, even though I tried to vacuum in the cracks. Really KitchenAid?

I am writing this review to help others avoid getting into the situation I was in with the purchase of the KitchenAid KFGG500ESS gas range. I ignored reviews which warned of the same problems I ended up having so I thought Id confirm that I think there is a problem. Buyer beware! I had to have service out immediately because the oven was not true to temperature even after calibrating it up 30 degrees. I ruined several meals because they just wouldnt cook thoroughly and finally gave up trying. Also, the control panel was extremely difficult to press and hurt my fingers. I ended up using the back of a spoon to press the buttons which seemed like a ridiculous way to have to use a brand new appliance. It took the service company two weeks to order the parts and get the tech to come out - all that time without the use of the brand new oven. The range needed a new control board and temperature sensor which didnt fix the problem to my satisfaction. The oven still baked unevenly and the control panel was still difficult to use.The biggest problem was that the stainless steel panel behind the knobs got extremely hot and when you touched it or brushed by it, you could get burned which is very dangerous especially for small children. I was told by the service tech that KitchenAid told him that is just the way it is and there is no way to fix that issue. He said that KitchenAid tests the products before they are sent out and they are up to standards. I do not want to have a stove in my house that will burn someone if they touch it (along with the other problems with the stove that were not resolved) so the store I purchased it from agreed to exchange it for another range. In the end (2 months after my initial purchase of the KitchenAid) I got a Bosch range installed and it works beautifully and is perfect in every way. Unfortunately, I was told by the assistant manager of the the big box store that the KitchenAid I returned was put back on the floor at a discount to try to sell to someone else! Shame on them!

Did you know KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool which includes Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Kitchen Aid... Pretty much all the heavy hitters from the US fall under the Whirlpool umbrella now. Just keep that in mind as read through all of these disappointing posts about quality, service and general safety. I, like many, replaced my entire kitchen with what I believed was the TOP quality KitchenAid appliances. I bought the KEMS308SSS05 which is a Micro/Convection oven combination. Its failed now 5 times since I purchased new in 2012. I am 4 months outside of the 2 year warranty but the first problems (for which theyve never corrected because it continues to happen) started with the first 90 days.I get sometimes there are lemons at ANY company, we are humans and were not perfect, but a company when realizing their faults need to step up and cure the deficiencies. Thats the difference between an average company and a great company, and sadly whirlpool seems no longer to be or even want to be a great company.

We purchased a KitchenAid microwave/oven combo in April 2013 while building our home. It was installed in December. It immediately experienced an error. We called to have it serviced, but the repairman could not find the problem. The error had disappeared! It is now May, the warranty has expired, and the oven is beeping non-stop at all hours of the night and intermittently throughout the day. When it is experiencing this problem, none of the keys on the keypad work. I thought KitchenAid made a quality product, but this is not the case. Very disappointed that such an expensive product could cost us this much trouble and sleepless nights. Its a holiday weekend, and no one at KitchenAid can be reached. Not a happy KitchenAid product owner!

My KitchenAid refrigerator is only 4 months old and the ice maker has already stopped making ice. It just stopped for no reason. Luckily, its still under warranty so the repair man will be coming out next week but REALLY!?! The dumb thing is only FOUR MONTHS OLD. I am afraid of what will need repairs in the future after the warranty has expired. I didnt read the bad reviews before I bought ALL KitchenAid appliances and that included a dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator. The repair lady told me to Buy the warranty. She said they dont make things like they used to. Now you tell me... very disappointed in KitchenAid. They used to be a very reliable, high end company.

KitchenAid is saying that they will not pay for fixing my gas range repair that I purchased a year and half ago. This is the second time that we used the self clean, and it just stopped working. They sent a repair guy out. The first thing he said was, oh, this happens with the self clean mode. Ill show you another way to do self cleaning without it breaking down. Now they are saying they wont pay for the repair because I had the racks from the stove top in the oven so that I could get them cleaned. It does not say in the owner manual to not clean them in self cleaning. And I dont understand why that would affect it??? Please help! I just purchased the extended warranty for another 5 years, and cant afford to pay $850 out of pocket! KitchenAid are really thieves!!! Model number KGSS907SSS03.

Same story as everyone else - self clean worked really well but when I turned it on today to do Christmas baking - nothing! If I had read these a few days earlier, I would have kept my dirty oven. Now I have to find someone to fix it in the week leading up to Christmas. Too bad. I actually really liked using this oven. Shame on salesmen selling us these products they know have issues.

This is for a KitchenAid range that we purchased just one year ago. We actually love the range and its versatility but it has ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. The writing on the knobs rubs off with just a finger. It happened to all four of my knobs and I have had to reorder all four as I can no longer tell what setting I am on. They cost almost $30 each. A KitchenAid KEBS207BSS01 Double Oven came with a new house we purchased. The first time we self-cleaned the oven, the blue porcelain flaked off the convection cover, exposing bare metal. KitchenAid Customer Service stated this was a cosmetic problem not covered by warranty, since the oven was still functioning properly. I replied that the self clean feature was a function that was obviously not designed to chip off the oven interior, and therefore not functioning properly. They suggested a purchase a blue pen from Amazon that could be used to paint over the chipped interior. Incredibly poor product quality and customer service.

We built a new home in the Rio Grande Valley in 2005. Since we had previously remodeled our home in Irving, Texas using KitchenAid products which gave excellent service, we assumed we could rely on newer models to do the same. This was a mistake. We installed a stainless steel oven/microwave combination (Model No: KEHC309KSS 05, Serial No: XS060040 57). The microwave door springs continually break and the light bulb burns out regularly. The product requires a service call every year. It requires two men to change the microwave light bulb because the whole unit has to be pulled from the cabinet. One man must hold the unit while the second replaces the bulb. Even though the service people are told they must send two men, they seldom comply, requiring the scheduling of a second service call. If we did not continually purchase extended warranties, there would be no way to keep the product operable. After reading all of the posted complaints, we are now afraid to use the self-cleaning part of the actual oven. This was a poorly designed product which never should have been marketed in the first place. After a two page letter listing the number of service calls and the problems, we received a call from KitchenAid stating they had received the letter, had no record of any previous complaints and were relaying the information to their engineers. It sounded as though there would be no follow-up and no effort to resolve the complaint. Its amazing that a company can continue in business with so many complaints against it by relying on past reputation. We would never recommend a KitchenAid product again.

After using the self-cleaning mode three times, the lock would no longer disengage. My oven (KEMC378) was still under warranty at the time so the locking device was replaced. Again after using the cleaning mode a few times, the problem reoccurred with the new lock. After about a week of not using my oven or microwave, the lock disengaged on its own. Needless to say, I no longer use the self-cleaning mode. Recently on 10/27/2012, the locking device, on its own, became engaged and will not release. I can no longer cook or microwave - its completely useless. I called KitchenAid on 10/29/2012 to see if my model was part of the recall. We recently bought a used KitchenAid stainless steel stove. The control knobs are at the front of the oven and we discovered that they are easily turned on with even the slightest touch or bump. Unfortunately, when working in the kitchen, I did not notice that I had lightly touched the control knob which turned on the High setting. Within minutes the high setting ignited the oil in the pan on a front burner and flames were shooting up hitting the over-the-stove microwave oven. The flames covered the bottom edge of the microwave and the plastic edge melted.Luckily I was able to extinguish the fire, but my house has extensive smoke damage and could have completely gone up in flames. As well, the microwave oven is no longer useable. The stove knobs are a serious safety hazard as they can too easily be turned on with a light touch, a childs hand or even a dog sniffing the front of the stove. We are going to throw the stove out and never buy a KitchenAid appliance again.

We bought a dual oven Kitchen Aid True Convection Oven with Induction cook top (Model YKFID500ESS). We started noticing blue flakes in the rag when cleaning the upper oven. Then 2 weeks after the warranty was up the surface started flake away in the front edge of the bottom surface of the upper oven. When we contacted Whirlpool they said this wasn’t a recorded problem from anyone else and they would not be covering it. They told me they would have just used touch up paint even if it was still under warranty. We luckily had bought an extended warranty and when they came out the tech said it was not repairable. The warranty company covered it under their lemon clause. We then ordered another identical range to replace it thinking it was a one of problem. I checked out the new range before I accepted it and found the same issue with the surface in the same location already bubbling. We would not accept the range and had it returned to the store. I now have to contact the store and look for another option because I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance. Whirlpool needs to come clean about this issue and everyone with this model needs to take a close look at their top ovens surface.

Three years ago I upgraded my entire kitchen with stainless KitchenAid appliances, after much research - with a hefty price tag. I liked that the products were made in the USA and that they were considered high-end appliances. I even replaced a Bosch dishwasher (it did not live up to its reputation). The oven cost $1500 and change at the time of purchase, and the model is now over $1900. Two and a half years later my oven started having problems - it turns off during cooking and will not come back on. I had repair people out several times but they could not fix it. Turns out it needs a whole new keyboard, which is over $800 just for the part. I tried to contact KitchenAid customer service - yes, this was out of the 1 year warranty but I felt that it should not be having such problems after only 2.5-3 years (the oven that I replaced was 15 years old and was in perfect working order - and was a much lower-end appliance).Anyway, I have tried in vain to get KitchenAid to help me but they will not. My dishwasher has also had several pieces fall off that have had to be replaced. You would think this company would help their customers but no, they ignored my letter. All I wanted was to purchase a new oven at a discount - which they would normally allow but they will not let me do so because I have a home warranty plan (which I had not used to help in any way other than to diagnose the issue). Shame on KitchenAid for such horrible customer service, and for selling overpriced appliances that do not last and definitely are NOT worth the high prices. We spent a bunch of money on KitchenAid appliances (refrigerator, stovetop, dishwasher, and double range) when we remodeled our kitchen and, if I could, I would like to go back in time a slap myself in the face for making this decision. KitchenAid appliances are GARBAGE. One side of our fridges french door pops opens then the other side closes. This is a nightmare when you have kids because it basically ensures that your fridge is open ALL OF THE TIME.The dishwasher doesnt work very well. We previously had a Bosche brand dishwasher and I SO wish we stayed brand loyal because that brand was terrific. The KitchenAid dishwasher doesnt completely clean our dishes, it does more of an 80% cleaning making us have to rewash some items after they been through the KitchenAid process. The nobs on the stovetop have broken twice now...I think you get the idea. We bought KA because we thought we were buying a premium brand and nothing could have been further from the truth. We will NEVER buy anything from this brand again and if my ship ever comes in I will happily throw this crap away and buy new appliances immediately.

I have a KitchenAid Double Oven Gas Range. I read up on the oven before purchase and my purchase was due to the high ratings it received. I love the double oven, but I am very disappointed with the stainless steel stove top range. I consider my self pretty careful with my appliances, but taking care of the stove top is ridiculous. It scratches easily and within weeks of use, brown stains have formed around the burners which will not come off. Of course, you cannot use abrasives and stainless steel cleaner does not work. This oven is only a few months old and I planned on having it for a long time especially with the price paid and being a KitchenAid appliance which is known to be a reputable name. Model KDTE104ESS - purchased 13 months ago; 3rd dishwasher we had - others changed with kitchen upgrades, never had a failure such as this. Previous dishwashers were Kenmore, Frigidaire; latter was a very basic model; in same residence 32+ yrs, kids (3) no longer part of current household. Dishwasher used 6-7 times per week in household of 2, with my wife cooking 5-6 days a week; moderate use, rarely use heavy-duty clean cycle with present dishwasher. This model has a 2-stage filter (fine, coarse), with recommended cleaning varying from once/2 months to yearly. We did not clean it since new, since we scrape dishes, do minimal pre-wash or none - our usual practice for 32 yrs in present house, 6-8 yrs in prior house. When dishwasher quit draining, checked filters, small amount of residue (1/2 tsp or less), no significant coarse grit seen. Noted no discharge from DW via exhaust tube with 3 successive cycles. I watched running empty DW. Had purchased an extended warranty for a year (3 appliances, range, fridge & DW), all purchased together, all KitchenAid, 13 mos ago with complete kitchen remodeling after 22 yrs since last remodeling.Repairman (under warranty) checked machine, found exhaust pump clogged with debris, failed; emptied some particulate matter from exhaust tube into a bucket, looked like congealed fat, a few parsley & other leafy matter. No hard grit seen. He did say that matter had been pulled past the filters (couldnt say why other than pump has a suction like a vacuum), though neither filter was even moderately clogged.KitchenAid approved a $300 plus sum for pump replacement; their consumer services could not answer my query as to how so much debris got past the filters to cause pump failure within 13 mos. This model does not have a grinder as in next higher model, but again, there was not much particulate debris I could see; pump was not yet removed, so will wait to see what it looks like.In summary, very disappointed with this early pump failure, with way less usage than in prior dishwashers that functioned well for a family of 5 for 10 yrs, and 22 yrs respectively. Believe Kenmore is made by Whirlpool, the parent company of KitchenAid, so the design, though older, is I feel similar. Modern DW detergents (we use the satchets, not powder or liquid) recommend NOT scraping too much food residue off dishes, to allow triggering of enzymatic action for cleaning dishes. We rarely see residue, occasional baked on material such as egg yolk, which we now clean off; no pots go in DW, rare baking dishes, which we scrub off in the sink. So we dont feel this DW was overworked.Writing this while searching for others with similar pump failures, trying to understand why two levels of filters failed to protect a pump that obviously is rather delicate, hence recommendation by KitchenAid Consumer Services now that every month we run an empty cleaning cycle with an Affresh tablet to clear the system. BTW, weve never seen hard-water residue inside any of our dishwashers; the prior two did not have stainless steel interiors, never required special interior cleaning with bicarbonate etc., for any build-up; we get city water, pipe-bourne, just flushed out my gas water heater after 4-5 yrs, saw a small amount of milky flow at beginning of drainage, then clear; I have a water filter at my house cold-water intake; the water (filtered) in the fridge is always clear, no problems with ice-makers over 32+ yrs, no hard-water cum anywhere.KitchenAid has no answer for us other than the Affresh cleaning cycle; we use a comparable DW detergent to the recommended Cascade, not Cascade Platinum as recommended; anybody with a similar problem, either with KitchenAid dishwashers or any Whirlpool family dishwashers (include the high-end Jenn-Air brand now)? Am feeling very disappointed with this choice right now, will expect another pump failure in 1-2 yrs, if so will look for remedy from KitchenAid, or else...!Can scan receipt of purchase from Lowes store locally if required. I have no repair order number, as requested below. Do have extended warranty # if required. We had Sears brand appliances in our old house (8 years), still have Sears (Kenmore) washer and dryer, 3 sets over 43 yrs of married life, 2nd set in this house, first set lasted 24 years, top-loaders, replaced when laundry room was remodeled, now with HE front loaders that are currently 8+ years old. Some repairs were needed, recall replacing motor of current washer when motor-bearing became noisy.

We purchased a KitchenAid 48 KSSC48QT side-by-side (for custom wood panel inserts) from Factory Builder Store along with a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, all KitchenAid. The ice maker on the refrigerator has been a joke from the beginning. The ice dispenser does not work, we have to open the freezer door in order to scoop ice out of the bin on the door. When we open the freezer door, ice always falls all over the place and the flap on the ice maker is covered with an ice sheet from some type of leakage. After reading everyones comments, I have come to the conclusion that KitchenAid will soon be a past American icon and I will need to just take it as a loss. What a shame. My kitchen is the heart of my home and was featured in our local newspaper and in MySanAntonio website. We entertain almost every weekend and I make sure all my guests and neighbors know that I dont have any ice from the freezer in my kitchen because KitchenAid makes a lousy product. Guests have naturally gone to the freezer door during a party to dispense ice and I just comment Oh sorry, it’s a KitchenAid. Don’t ever buy one! Please get the ice from my old freezer in the garage! (which for 10 years has worked perfectly). Some of these folks are CEOs, contractors and custom home builders so I make sure the word gets out. I guess I will just keep a supply of bagged ice till the whole ** thing gives out on us, which I expect will happen soon based on everyones feedback!

It didnt blow out our panel, but warped, or melted some of the frame, and other moving parts. We have never been able to keep our oven door shut properly ever since. After calling the repair guy, he says the oven door hinges needed replacing. Expensive, but okay we did it. About 6 months later, the same thing happened. We needed to use a step ladder pushed against the door to keep it shut while cooking. About 2 months after that, the panel blew. Another expensive repair. One year later, our broiler no longer works, the door, is literally falling apart, and although the rest of it works, there are no lights on our panel, timer doesnt work, clock is off, cant even see what the temp is.At this point we are just letting it die instead of fixing it. Especially when the repair guy (after 3 visits about the ajar door) said he just doesnt know what else to do. After reading several forums, I have to say that the self clean function is the worst enemy of any oven, and it should be removed. Hide all the elements to make it easy to clean with soap and water, and thats good for me. There is no point in having the technology, if they cant see how it negatively affects and breaks the rest of the oven.

Tonight at 5:45 pm the inside glass of my KitchenAid Superba built-in electric convection single oven exploded with such force that the glass shot across my entire kitchen and into my dining room. I had the oven on and was baking fish at the time. Luckily, my baby had just moved from her usual place on the mat in the kitchen or else she would have been utterly disfigured and seriously injured by the explosion of glass. I immediately phoned KitchenAid and they said they could send a technician on Thursday, January 5, 2012. The technician has just phoned to say he would just replace the glass and that this happens 100s of time a week and there is no guarantee that it wont happen again. When I asked for some certainty that the oven would be safe, he said he wasnt the designer and it wasnt his role to tell me that the oven would be safe in the future, then he said he refused to do business with me and put down the phone. I am appalled. We escaped lithely this time, but there is no way I am prepared to let it happen again. I think everyone should know how unsafe these ovens are. KitchenAid needs to withdraw these ovens from sale and, for me, they need to return my money so I can go in search of a different oven. I will once again be phoning KitchenAid to find out what they will do about the situation. I phoned Trail Appliance Edmonton South but they said their technician will phone tomorrow. They, however, did not seem to realize how serious the situation is. Does a child or someone has to be seriously hurt before something happens to have this oven removed from sales?
