We paid top dollar (over $3000) for an LG Linear refrigerator in June, 2015. In March, 2018, it began making strange clicking noises so we got online and followed some tutorials about how to fix it. Nothing worked. We had a repairman come and he had to replace the control board and fan, at a cost to us of about $600. Now here we are in October, 2019 and it’s doing the exact same thing. We are looking at having to replace both exact same things, only this time it will cost $690. We could have bought a new refrigerator for what we’ve spent on repairs in the past four years. I will never buy another LG product. Maybe the company will see this and offer some compensation, but I doubt it. It’s infuriating!
I ordered a Part for my stove hood (lsvc302st) in April. It is now June and theyre telling me the part is on backorder till the end of the month. Every time I call the parts on backorder for longer. Play it safe and do not buy Any LG products. Its new and shouldnt have broke this soon. I dont use it a lot.
I purchased my LG oven range combo when I remodeled my kitchen in 2017. I chose this product because it had the convection as well as standard oven option and flat glass top burners. I need all the prep space I can find in a tiny floor plan - so the flat top was essential. I would say the burners all work equally well and the quick boil feature is something I use often. The warming center might be the only feature I really dont use. As for the oven, I have had convection in the past & was excited to have that option in this. This oven tends to run a little high in temperature in both the convection and the standard. 3 years later I am still tweaking my recipes and cook times to ensure the right balance of time and temperature. The features are great to have but the calibration seems a little off. Thats why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5.
Our experience so far has been great. The electronics make our range easy to operate and efficient to utilize. The heating element in all functions are very accurate, so we dont have to guess when using a specific recipe for temperature requirements.
I like my LG stove because all of my appliances is LG. I have refrigerator, washer and dryer. Theyre all the right size and fit for my home. The LG range is awesome and easy for my children to use. It cook evenly and plenty of room inside the oven in which I bake a lot. I have had all of my appliances for about 4 yrs or more now without any problems.
LRE3013ST - I was hoping to read that there was a recall on this particular stove because of the Intuitouch control panel. I seem to use the same burner on the left-hand side of the panel and noticed a crack in the plastic. Its only a few years old. Also after oven on for half hour or so it shuts off and FB appears on panel. Why do they make things like used to???
From day one, our 1+ year old LG WF487OCW top loading washer has stopped mid cycle with the UE error message. The start cycle that assesses the load size is a joke. It fails most often when I try to do a delicate cycle with a small load. I might have to rearrange that load 2-3 times or more to complete a cycle. But it can happen with any size load. With my laundry in the basement, I can never assume that the load I put in is done. Very frustrating to have to repeatedly rearrange the load. The machine will actually go into a violent series of moves before stopping. Washing machines typically last us many years. After reading other reviews, we find ourselves wishing that we had picked another brand. We actually chose this one based on good reviews from Consumer Reports! Sounds like we would only be facing additional frustrations if we tried to reach LG for customer service.
I bought an LG double oven in February. As soon as I tried to preheat the oven, the oven filled my house up with gas. After many unsuccessful attempts to have LG have someone come out to fix the oven under its warranty, LG finally scheduled a company to come out to fix the oven. After the company attempted to fix the oven four times, the oven still leaks so much gas when I attempt to preheat the oven that I cant use it. Even though the service company has told LG that the oven is defective and they wont come attempt to repair it anymore, LG refuses to replace the oven or refund me for the cost of the oven. I have been without an oven for seven months and Im currently stuck with a $1,500 defective oven. Thanks LG!
I purchased an LG stove, refrigerator and dishwasher four years ago. I live alone and am very careful with my belongings. The stove has paint chips every place the cast iron burner sits on the stove. It looks ugly. The shelves in the refrigerator have broken rails. Really, these appliances are only four years old. I have a second refrigerator in the garage thats twenty years old and still in great condition. I paid too much money to have these items look like theyve been through the war!
I tried to EasyClean feature three times and it did not work. Then I called LG multiple times. They finally sent out their technician who agreed that it is not working. He recommended I called priority services and they said we can’t do anything about it because the oven is still functioning correctly. I contacted the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey and had many email conversations with them and LG headquarters and the final decision was I’m supposed to use three or four different types of chemicals to clean the oven because their feature does not work. We are in our 70s and scraping back of oven is not an option, only bought this oven because of the EasyClean feature.
My husband bought this stove for me on Feb 14th, I was thrilled! I love to bake and cook and even canning. I had the stove for less than a month and the large right burner died. I called to have it repaired. We kept using the stove, and before the repairman could get to us, the entire top died! You could push the buttons, they would come on but didnt heat up. The repairman came out, looked at the stove and said he had to order the parts. Two weeks later, he replaced the motherboard and everything was up and running just fine. Two months later, we had the same issue. The left burner goes this time. Again, the same repairman comes out, looks at the stove, he again orders the same parts. He replaces the motherboard again. On the 3rd repair, LG tells me the repair guy is the one who has to call it a lemon, the repair guy tells me its LG that has to call it a lemon. Okay, so he repaired it and I just let it go, WHICH I have NOT have done!Dec. 14, we call the repairman again, I am now on my 4th repair for the same thing! Now LG wants to see my receipt for the stove, and they are sending it to their Claims dept. to see if they can replace this stupid stove. I really hope they do NOT plan to send me another stove like this one! Last week, the repairman came out, of course they have to order the parts and I am just betting, my stove will NOT be repaired in time for me to cook the family Christmas dinner! It really sucks to spend all that money for a stove that only works part time! The repair guy said, he also see problems with stove that have fancy mother boards. If you buy this stove, make sure you have a backup plan! I am currently baking cookies on a small rack while sitting on coffee cups in a roaster pan and it SUCKS! Now, I guess I will have to cook Christmas dinner on a George foreman grill, a roaster pan, and an electric skillet or its fast food. Geez like a great dinner for Christmas, NOT!
We have used the Easy Clean option on the oven, all it is - is a timer. You spray water in the oven, hit the option, wait 20 minutes, then clean the water up. The LG directions tell you to use 10 oz of water, spray on spot, and wait. Then it is clean. Nothing happens.
I purchased 5 Major LG Appliances (Range, Washer, Dryer-both with pedestals, Dishwasher and Refrigerator) in August of 09. Right away the appliances started giving me issues. The Dryer would not dry completely, due to me calling so many times, a tech was sent and told me not to use dryer sheets, um ok. I then received a part, a whole electronic panel in which I didnt even know was coming with no one to put it on. I still just have to dry my laundry 2 times to completely dry. The washer has had several parts replaced, I actually ordered the parts online since LG gave me the run around. The refrigerator works but has issues with the way it was built, cheaply! The dishwasher does nothing close to washing dishes. I rinse everything before it goes in and they come out dirty, like they were soaking in a mud bath. The MAJOR complaint is the LG LRE30453 Range. It is dangerous. I have called for over 2 years about this range overheating, both the burners and the oven. I was told to unplug, to reset the breakers, leave off 10 minutes, reset temperature but holding down the bake key and adjusting the temp up or down. I have done everything and it does not work properly. The range heats up to 600 degrees no matter what temp it is turned on to. It does not give an error code and it does not lock like it would if it were overheating, there is also a fuse that is supposed to blow if it gets too hot, per the tech that finally was sent this week, per LG extending my warranty on parts and Labor. The tech said that, due to the range being RECALLED, as well as the amount it would cost to fix it, that he would deem it unrepairable and LG should replace it. WELL, LG called this morning and let me know they were going to send me a check for $253.43 plus tax for my range and for me to Scrap the one I have now. I told them that was not acceptable and would not cover the price even of a generic brand and I wanted a supervisor, they had Michael, supposedly a supervisor called me and he gave me an extra year on the warranty to up the amount to $375.14 plus tax (403.25), but he wants me to send the range to LG, wait 3-6 weeks for them to review the range, then send me a check for the stated amount. I asked if they were going to cover meals during that time and he snickered and said, um no maam, we sure wont. I am SO furious about this. The tech said the range could be fixed but, in his line of work, he will usually deem it unrepairable if the cost to repair will exceed the price of LG replacing it for the customer. Well, now I am screwed, LG needs to either fix my range for 1500 or replace it for the 800 I paid for it on sale.I was on the phone with LG , 4 different people, hung up in 2 times after waiting on hold for their escalation team to answer. I called the 3rd time, got a lady names Ross and sat on hold for 25 minutes before she came on the line to tell me that she was reading my notes and I already talked to Michael so, there was nothing to be done. I asked about the escalation line again and she was very rude, and acted like I just wanted a new stove because mine was scratched or the paint was chipped, due to the lady taking my techs call RMAd the range and put due to paint chipping...I guess that was the easiest thing to pick to devalue the range the most. My tech called them and let them know he did not deem it unrepairable due to paint, that was just an issue from the overheating of the unit and it was UNUSABLE not cosmetically damaged like they reported that he claimed. He actually called them from my kitchen on speaker phone to describe to them the issues. Ross then very rudely gave me a number to call the escalation team myself and the phone rang and rang, to finally a recording of, this department is closed, please call back in normal business hours. I was on the phone with these clowns ALL day, with the supervisor Michael telling me that this week is the first time I have ever called them. Funny how all my calls disappeared once I called them out on not notifying me of the RECALL on this lemon of a range. I then referred back to my dryer issue and they acted like I was crazy. I guess at this point, I AM CRAZY, and broke from eating out and ruining food and pots and pans. LG is a JOKE. Life is NOT good with LG, they stink and do NOT stand behind their overpriced headaches of appliances.
Two years ago I purchased all new LG appliances for my kitchen. The microwave and oven work properly. However the dishwasher and refrigerator are pieces of junk. I upgraded my dishwasher to the Inverter Direct Drive. After trying different loading methods and different brands of D/W soap, the only way my dishes get truly cleaned, is if I use the power scrub setting. This setting runs for 2:45!!!My refrigerator LG model LFX31925ST/02 is even worse!! Every so often it makes loud vibrating sounds (which I have recorded), some banging which results in a chunk of ice that falls out of the bottom. The freezer is on the bottom and has 3 drawers. The top drawer does not maintain freezing temperatures, resulting in defrosted food that has to be thrown out. When I contacted LG Repair service (I paid for extra warranty) I was told that I am not covered for a repair visit, unless the refrigerator acts up in their presence. I advised them that I have photos and videos to prove its poor performance, however that is not sufficient! I called the retail store where I purchased it. After several calls, the store manager called me and apologized because LG would not even cooperate with him!
I have had LG service out to fix my 15 month old stove 6 times and it still wont maintain a temperature. The LG service department will not change out the defective stove saying that the replacement parts put on to NOT fix the problem werent major parts. They can set up a 7th service call to NOT fix it again. They stink AND the product stinks.
LG Front Load Washer & Dryer - Bought new several years ago. Worst product, bad design, many problems, and bad smell despite frequent cleaning of the bottom trap hose and screw on filter thing (and despite sanitize/tub clean over and over). It never rinses clothing or even washes it satisfactorily. Not energy efficient because it takes 4 rinses to get soap and stinky sour odor out of clothing. It never smells or feels clean anyway. Spent a thousand dollars to have it fixed when it wouldnt turn around. The smell is bad. Lots of other bad design issues besides the biggest problem. It doesnt clean the clothing!! LG makes REALLY BAD QUALITY PRODUCTS. The gas range is awful and so is the gas dryer and the microwave. It is blue inside, which is the only good thing about it. NEVER BUY LG ANYTHING. Maytag Neptune are great. I had them before the LG and were amazing. LG SUCKS.
I have three LG appliances and I have major problem with all.My microwave shelf makes contact with the oven wall because of too much play with shelf brackets and because the shelf should be smaller that what it is. It burned a line through to the metal and arced sparks. I wrote to the company service on the LG website but they did not reply. Today I called LG. The company representative said that it was no longer covered with warranty. I stressed that it was a safety issue and a design flaw. I switched to a supervisor who did not budge from that stand. I explained that it has been that way since day one but I had been very careful, that I always pull the shelf to the most forward position. Of course, as it should be safe for everyone. She said that she could have someone repair it at my expense. I said this was not acceptable. She then said I should buy microwave paint at the hardware store to fix the oven before using it again and not to operate it in the future with the shelf in, some solution! She also said the manual explains when to remove the shelf. I asked if it says never to use the shelf since that would be the only way to avoid the problem. She acknowledged that it did not. I reminded her of the light relay fire issue that they had with their refrigerators and that LG avoided the responsibility for that for about 4 years. Online reports made it clear that they only started to cover the repair recently on the 2005 models. I also made note of the problem with the leaking of the water through the seam between the two panels on the front of the dishwasher. She noted my problem but again, she said that it was off the warranty, but that she would send someone to my home to repair it at my expense. Again, this problem exists since day one. Someone needs to make these people responsible for their products. The refrigerator incident could have burnt my house down. Heaven knows what damage the toxic fumes from the microwave could cause.
We purchased an electric range, model LRE3012ST, on October 27, 2012, a top of the line model electric range. On the second day, we noticed that one burner when turned off did not show the HS indicating the surface was still hot. This is a safety feature to tell the consumer not to go near the burner since its still dangerously hot. We had two service calls over the next four weeks, and the technician would replace circuit boards. In both repairs the problem became worse, meaning other problems occurred besides still having the original issue. After the technician left the second time telling us he would call back when he had new parts, I decided to call Home Depot; and to make a long story short, LG called two days later and said they would deliver a new range. We received the new range on Dec. 22, 2012. And today, January 8, 2013, after having used the oven, we are unable to turn the oven off. The only way to turn it off is to pull the range from the wall and unplug it. My next call very shortly will be to Home Depot and demand they take this range; and I want it replaced with another range, but not an LG. I dont know where this range is made, but I will guess its China or the parts are made in China. And once again, China screws the American consumer.
Bought this with a stove and refrigerator. My biggest mistake was not returning it immediately. The third rack was a pain in the neck because you could not fit glasses in the middle rack, and when you try to adjust the rack it collapses and holds nothing in place. The collapsing racks are poorly designed - have proven to be a nightmare. They will not lock in and they keep collapsing when you load dishes and cups into the washer. The very top rack which was to hold the thin knives, and serving utensils will not stay connected to the side attachments and things you load here disconnect and fall into the main compartment to be fished out of the lowest rack. They have proven to be a great disappointment. Sometimes you have to fight the soap dispenser to get it to close. The whole design is an abomination and if I hadnt just purchased it a year ago I would throw it out. What were your thinking LG in the design of this monstrosity?
We purchased this LG LMV2031JT microwave along with LG fridge, convection stove, dishwasher around June 2015 as part of a complete kitchen remodel. (sound familiar?) The microwave now wont finish cooking a tv dinner. It will warm something up short duration but after about 3 minutes it just wont heat anymore. Place where we bought it said it might be cheaper to just replace it. :( Wow, bought LG because of supposed quality. LG says to call a service company to repair or buy their additional warranty. I bought it because it should be a quality product, not needing an extended warranty!!! Gal I talked to was nice but foreign. Now I will probably have 3 LG products and an off brand microwave as I will not ever buy another LG product. What a joke.
Bought stove in October of 2016. Didnt have gas line installed until Dec, but noticed when we reached up to use microwave we were accidentally turning one or both burners on. Called J. C. Penney about problem but were told that no gas would be released until the knob was turned far enough to light the burner and we would hear the clicking and would have time to turn it off. When we had gas installed to stove we found that wasnt the case. Just a small bump would allow gas to release without warning. Very dangerous situation. At 64 years old we should not have to worry about such a problem. Spoke to J. C. Penney about the problem and were told if we had bought their warranty they could look into it. We were told to contact LG but are put in hold for literally an hour or more until I get frustrated and hang up. Wanting to know what consumer protection agency we can contact about the dangers of this stove. Havent used the oven enough to say if there are problems with that. Sounds like this should be a class action.
Our range is two years old. We purchased an extended warranty. A few months ago, I noticed rust spots on the front of the stainless steel oven door. LG is giving me the runaround on fixing this. The warranty does not cover cosmetic issues, so I had to, after 4 hours on the phone, deal with LG supervisors. I am in the process of waiting to hear if the oven door will be replaced at no cost to me. From what I learned on the internet, this is a common problem in the manufacture of stainless steel appliances, but the companies that sell them refuse to take responsibility for the issue and blame it on the consumer for not taking proper care of the product.
This is long, lots to cover. When our old fridge died over Memorial Day Weekend in 2015, we were rushed to replace it --- and have regretted that ever since. We purchased an LG French door fridge at a major retailer, with just the one day to do research (because, our old one had died and wed already lost a couple hundred dollars in perishable food and had kids to feed). The linear compressor promised to be quiet, efficient, and durable - the literature boasts that an officially proven 20-year-durable lifespan realizes your peace-of-mind.At first, it was great - because it was new. Just ten months in, however, we began having problems as the fridge developed a clicking sound when the fan (compressor?) kicked on, and then a couple weeks later got an error code on the panel and the fridge stopped cooling. We lost another fridge full of groceries, and called LG for repair. It was well under warranty, being just one year old.The technician they dispatched called us before showing up, and told us this is a common problem - and that we have to defrost our frost-less new fridge when we hear that clicking because it means ice is building up inside on the fan. OK... So we did that, and the fridge began working again (this is in May/June 2016). Then, like clockwork yearly, we would hear the clicking and do the overnight defrost (2017, and 2018).So again it began clicking again in early July 2019, and we got ready to do the same thing - except instead, the fridge just quit working entirely on July 9th 2019 while we were at work and we came home to a flooded kitchen (from the melted ice) and once again, had to toss a fridge full of perishable foods (second time with this fridge). We unplugged it and left it overnight to defrost, as before, and plugged it back in on the 10th (empty). Left it for the day while at work, and when we came home the inside of the fridge was over 70*, clearly not cooling, but no errors on the panel, so I called LG for service on July 11th. This begins the worst customer service experience I have ever had with any manufacturer.July 11th: talked to condescending service rep who eventually agreed that we needed a service call. Scheduled it for July 16th (earliest available), and gave me a confirmation number which I read back. I arranged to take a half-day off work to be home for the 8-12 hour window. He says that luckily Im still within the 5-year warranty; I tell him my paperwork says it is 7 years warranty. He updates my account... Then assures me that the parts are covered under the warranty and I will only have to pay the labor for the service call.July 16th: at 11am, I called LG to check the ETA of the tech so I could update my office on when I would be in. Was told that my tech had just finished a call in a town 15 minutes from me, and that I was next on his list. At 12:15 still no tech, so I called back --- and was told that my service was completed. Spent quite a bit of time on the phone to learn that the confirmation number I was given was for someone else, and that I had no service call scheduled after all. I was quite angry, as Id stayed home for this and had been without a fridge for a week already. The person I spoke to said she was in the escalation department and she promised to call me within an hour with a resolution to get my fridge fixed, that her supervisors assured her it would be done that day.At 1:40 I called back (because, surprise - no call from LG and no tech) even angrier because I was no closer to a working fridge AND now Id lost a full day of work without pay. Im not allowed to talk to the same person I spoke to at 12:15, because she is helping other customers... Am told there is no way they can fix my fridge today but they will dispatch my call to an authorized service repair center, who would schedule a new service date. An hour later I get a call from said service repair center ---- who informed me that they dont service my area because they are in a different STATE. Yep, that last LG rep sent to the wrong repair center. So I call LG again (4th time this day), and this time Im told that I have to wait for the system to call me to schedule something, but that would be either today or tomorrow. Its 3:30 at this point. The rep cant help any further. Next day, by 4pm, still no call so I phone LG again. This rep tells me it can take 3-5 days for the system to call me to schedule something.... Each time I call, Im given a different scenario, none of which are getting my fridge fixed. The next day (July 18th), I get an email cancelling my appointment - which I havent been able to make so I dont know what this is for. July 19th: I call again because still nothing and its been ten days since my fridge broke. This rep is able to schedule a service call (what happened to the system??), and we set it for July 24th, next available day.July 23rd: given the absurd hassle Ive had to deal with to get this fridge fixed, I call in to confirm my appointment for the next day because I cant lose yet another day from work and have no tech show up. Am told parts were ordered on the 19th (which parts? the ones that always break, that fancy compressor that is supposed to be so great and durable but only lasted four years). This time the rep tells me that they have extended a courtesy warranty to cover the labor in addition to the parts, and that they received a couple of complaints. I have talked to 8 different LG customer service reps by this time, expressing many complaints from me on this whole fiasco, especially against that first rep who didnt bother to schedule a tech at all and cost me a days wages. The rep also said a grocery reimbursement would be sent in a couple of weeks for the inconvenience. This is the first Ive heard about this option.July 24th: my fridge is finally fixed, with a new compressor. The tech did not charge us for the visit, so at least that part LG honored. Fifteen days to get the fridge fixed, replacing a part that was the big selling point, four years and two months after we bought it. We lost tons of perishable food from the fridge and freezer (it holds a lot!), and two full days of work without pay. For two weeks weve had to eat out/eat convenience food because a picnic cooler just doesnt work that well to hold perishable foods that long, and its the middle of summer; it is an expensive way to eat! Now we wait for whatever grocery reimbursement they deem sufficient to compensate us, and count the days until the fridge breaks again, hoping it is still under warranty when it does. I dont trust this fridge at all. But we paid $3k for it, and cant afford to replace it yet. The environmental impact of manufacturers building appliances that fail after just a few years has got to be enormous and I wish there were lemon law type of things we consumers could count on for better durability.
To all of you that just brought your beautiful new LG refrigerators you must not have done any research. Because there thousands of dissatisfied customers with faulty refrigerators, compressors complaints and and on and on. I bought mine brand spanking new with French door and dual ice makers. Beautiful. It stopped working almost up to the date of when I bought it and no more warranty on the unit but there was one on the compressor but only for replacement. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life. If I had known this would happen I would have never bought this piece of junk. Not only can you not get through to anyone to fix it. You have to pay for someone to come out and diagnose the problem that you already know what the problem is. Then you have to pay for the repairmen (who is contracted) to come out and install the compressor which according to other loyal consumers may or may not work. But only if you can find one to come AND keep his appointment. After many tries I decided to give up and get a new one. But I will never ever in my life buy another LG product. I knew their phones were crap. Because I had to have mine replaced three times. I am an iPhone user now. But do your research anyone that reads this. My unit was bought in March 2013. And it went out in April 2019. I knew I couldn’t have been the only one so I read and found that all of the people that bought theirs after mine complained. If I had read all of those complaints I wouldn’t have had to buy another refrigerator six years later. Please stay way from LG. Even when you do call for assistance the people that you speak to are rude and condescending (only if you need help. But not if they are getting something from you. Then you may be treated with respect. So STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY. Go to the proven manufacturer our parents used. GE WHIRLPOOL OR KENMORE OR FRIGIDAIRE. Thank you.
We recently purchased an LG Gas Range. It became apparent early on that there was a serious and significant manufacturing defect with the knobs which could pose a major safety threat to you and your family and home. Basically, if you even lightly brush up against the knobs, they may turn easily in the on position and either ignite a flame unexpectedly or emit gas also unexpectedly. We have had several near misses of people catching on fire and a few gas emissions which last over 30 minutes. I thought once I contacted LG they would immediately take action -- WRONG -- I am absolutely stunned at their response. They told me that they couldnt do anything about it and that I should buy child safety locks for the knobs. My previous gas stove was in the same location for 17 years and NEVER had this problem. We plan to take legal action since several other consumer have experienced the same problem. Shame on LG. They should be put out of business!
We recently purchased an LG gas range. We paid more and got the higher-end model. Like other people have reviewed is very dangerous. You bump into the knobs and the gas leaks out you dont know it happens unless you smell it or you hear the clicking. LG needs to do something about this Dangerous gas oven.I turn the oven on with my pocketbook. I reach up into the microwave. The oven turns on. Its crazy. If you have little children around its very dangerous and you have to remove the knobs. That looks great. Not when you have spent close to $1,500 on the oven. Yesterday I baked cookies with the grandchildren and the cookies in the front were not as cooked as the ones in the back. Thats another problem. I added a photo with three of the knobs off, doesnt that look like **.
We purchased a brand new LG stove/oven in 2014. The control panel started giving us issues about a month ago (27 January 2016). We reported the issue to LG customer service and they offered an extended warranty for about $275.00. We purchased it and their repair representative arrived at our home. He verified that this was an LG product by model and serial number, and confirmed that the stove/oven was produced in 2013. He then said that he didnt have the required parts to perform the repair, and that LG no longer makes the parts. Since then, LG wont fix their own product because we dont have the initial purchase receipt. We have been arguing with so called LG executive services ever since. Ultimately, this is an LG product, LG took our money for the extended warranty, and they are incapable of fixing their own product. Is this fraud?
LG - LRE6321ST glass top stove. We purchased all our LG appliances from Brick on March 07, 2013. Yesterday we noticed that its numerical pad which also control the oven/clock setting is not working. We even reset the stove by turning off/on the circuit breakers & unplugging from the wall. Does anybody knows how to make it work as its now out of warranty?
I purchased my home in 2010 that came with new set of LG appliances. I am having nightmares with the LG gas stove (model: LRG30357ST). Within few months, one of the knobs cracked at the plastic insert. Now why on earth would you design a knob with a plastic insert to mesh with a metal shaft? I replaced this with a new one costing $80. After a few months, this one cracked again and I had to junk the knob as it was of no use. Now after a year, the rest of the 4 knobs have cracked too and I have to use a Gorilla SuperGlue to hold them together. Not sure how long they last. Calling the customer service is of no use as they redirected me to the parts department. Why on earth would I pay $400 ($80 times 5) for 4 knobs? I will be junking the gas range once the knobs become unusable. My advice to fellow consumers, be cautious when buying an LG product and make sure you have reviewed thoroughly the comments by other consumers. I will never buy an LG appliance going forward. By the way, my LG dishwasher had its door and motor replaced (fortunately LG covered that). The only original part is the frame.
I purchased the entire suite. After 1 year all the range knobs broke and cracked. To buy new ones its over 300 dollars. Then the microwave went out so we replaced it with a good brand. The dishwasher doesnt clean the dishes and stays wet inside continuously. The refrigerator, all the bottom drawers have broken and now the rubber around the doors has cracked and broken. Once these breakdown I will replace with another brand. I have gone back to the retailer with no resolution. LG is the worst brand for appliances. They only last maybe a year and then one by one issues come up.
We bought a Microwave Model LMS1190ST on May 2014. When Im using microwave it will turn on and stop for 10-15 seconds. Then it will turn on again and you can hear a hissing sound inside the oven. Scary crap. Dont buy any LG product.
Purchased a new LG dishwasher on 12/17/20. Model #LDT5678SS. Delivered on 12/20/20. Used MAYBE a dozen times & now there is rust in the bottom of the tub & on the door. Since it is now past 30 days Lowes will not fix/replace it so we reached out to LG since there is a 1 year warranty. The tech they sent out said he owned the same model & kept his outside & his didnt do that. Then he went out to his truck, made a phone call, came back in & told us to call Customer Service & left. We called customer service who informed us the tech said it was improper use on our part. We only used Cascade & water. I dont understand how this is improper use!We also purchased the 5 year extended warranty from Lowes, but because it is still under manufacture warranty, they cannot help either. They also stated that rust on the tub & door is considered cosmetic & would not be covered. Even though in the back of the LG book, that came with the dishwasher, it states there is a lifetime warranty on the tub & 1 year warranty on the parts/labor.So now we are stuck with a brand new rusting dishwasher that sticks like rust inside & Im sure will only get worse with time but thats considered cosmetic. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN. Its sad because we used to love LG. Own several LG TVs & also just purchased a LG Microwave which Im going to return before the 30 days. We were also looking at purchasing the matching stove & refrigerator but that is definitely out of the question now!! Between the Dishwasher, connectors & warranty we paid over $1,000 & now were stuck with it!
I purchased the above noted range back in March 2014. Just recently, there is this noise from the fans when you turn the oven on. It does not matter if the oven is on convection or just nonconvection mode. The same noise still exists. We live in Saint John New Brunswick. I called a few appliance companies to service the oven. I was told, we do not service LG ovens.I went to the facility that sold me the oven and asked if they knew of a service representative. I learned from the store that sold the appliance, there is no one in the area that services these LG products!! We called the LG 1-888-542-2623 number just to be told that there is no one in the area that services these! Buyer beware-dont purchase LG products!! They cant service what they sell! Am very frustrated with these products!!! What a waste of hard earned money!!
I love the way the oven cooks. It is my first experience using the glass cooktop. Still learning. Would have liked for the air fryer basket/tray to be included rather than having to special order it.
We purchased our LG linear compressor refrigerator 3 years ago along with a LG gas stove with double ovens. Last year the ice maker broke and the upper oven igniter went out. Now the compressor has gone out on the fridge. It leaked water all over my hardwood floors. Of course everything is out of warranty. Im so disgusted with LG. These appliances were part of a kitchen renovation from Home Depot. Never, ever again!!! My husband was able to fix the oven, but after reading all the negative comments, we are buying a new fridge and tossing the LG. Enough is enough. I hope the class action lawsuit in Illinois is successful.
Microwave LMV168SW, SB or ST this morning gone. Hardly used. We bought Smart TV, range top line, dryer, Refrigerator top line, (super bad), washer bleach didnt work with white but damage light colors, 3 X new washer. Now the Micro. Not help. BESTBUY.
Control knobs will turn on with a slight bump and if you don’t notice it fills your home with gas. I have also reached into the cabinet above and bumped the knob causing it to ignite and almost catching my clothes on fire. This range should be fixed or replaced! Very very dangerous!!!
Many service calls since August, you have to wait all day onset time. No one shows up, several repairs, several visits and calls because service said not under warranty and LG said was reschedule and last 3 visits same thing, won’t order parts, said have to pay for it. Now had second fire with stovetop coming on with no one home and house full of smoke because something was on stove. Now want replaced and something done about smoke damage.
I purchased my LG washer in January of this year and I couldnt be more disappointed! Im constantly getting the UE (unbalanced) code when it tries to spin so then it fills back up with water and tries to automatically rebalance itself - which never works - and what a huge waste of water!!! I have to stand over my washer and constantly rearrange my clothes numerous times until it works and sometimes it doesnt if the load is small. Actually you cant even do a small load in this machine due to this problem. I end up going old school and wringing out my clothes by hand! I so wish I had my old washer back as this is awful. I wouldnt recommend this washer to anyone.
5 years ago I bought a LG stove. Every year since I have to replace the handles. They melt and crack and I find it unreal that any stove would have melting handles as I explained to the service rep. She told me that being it is the 4th time I need to replace them she would try to get them for me at no charge and she would call me back in 2 days with a answer. That was a week ago and I never heard a word. Today I call to find out again I have to purchase them... another 100 bucks. Dont buy from them. They are ripping off customers.
We purchased a microhood at Menards on 04/16/2016. It was to replace a GE microwave which had been over the stove for a number of years. This LG microhood worked for 3 weeks and when I put vegetables in to reheat one day it just didnt heat. I talked to Menards and they said it was up to me to contact LG warranty issues. Trying to understand foreigners is extremely aggravating. Why doesnt anyone keep the jobs in the USA anymore? He had me unplug the microhood to reset it and when that didnt work, tried to find someone to repair it. He was unsuccessful finding a business to work on this product. So now I am stuck waiting for repair scheduling to contact me in a number of days. I need this microwave now! As far as I am concerned this company no longer exists. I am looking at having to purchase a new washer and kitchen range within the next little while and it will not be an LG. My husband works at a car manufacturer where hundreds of people work and we are going to make sure other employees are forewarned about this company. We certainly never expected to get less than a months use from an LG product.
Perfect range-oven combo from LG. Easy to maintain and keep clean. Excellent temperature adjustment, to go along with other settings. Foods cook as they should. Looks well in the kitchen setting and I would recommend to all.
This range has performed usually well. However, the burners on the stove dont really heat up to fit the pot that one would cook with. Meaning, that when you turn the burner on to fit a small pot, it still heats way above the pots diameter. The range stove top glass cracked early on. The other problem is that the stove had to be serviced to adjust the oven temperature and to have a new seal put on the oven door. It looks great and does the job, but I cant understand how the glass on the stove top cracked.
Purchased stove (LRG30357ST) from an appliance outlet in 2009 & had no problems other than fake chrome on over priced knobs crinkling from heat, until this year, 2014, when bottle fell from counter & bounced up on to the outer glass of door, shattering the glass. Thought it could be a DIY fix & purchased the tempered glass from **. Glass turned out to be too long for project. After much frustration, I came to the conclusion that because the glass was originally glued to the inside of door (with brackets to support weight of glass) that it is impossible to get JUST the glass. I have to purchase a new door, while throwing away or recycling a perfectly good door (minus glass) to the tune of 335.00. I mean, come on LG, some of us do have some smarts. And since its out of warranty I wont be getting any recompense from them & hate to use homeowners insurance (deductible is higher than door). So, am frustrated by NOT being able to get JUST the glass. They probably ran out of such parts at the Mexico plant where it was manufactured. And the person at the LG 800 number. Well shes a piece of work. Has a job, has a script & doesnt care because LG doesnt care either!
This machine is suppose to be load sensing, but this function causes the washer to stop 5 or 6 times during the spin cycle. You have to manually rearrange the clothes, and even that doesn’t work sometimes. Whites, towels and jeans are the worse to try to wash.
I bought an LG Range from Best Buy in November 2018 for $1800. In February the oven broke and I have been told that it was the control panel. After 3 weeks they have sent the control panel but the LG repair guy said that we need 2 others parts. # weeks later I am still waiting for the LG repair guy to fix this oven. Its a total of 6 weeks. Meanwhile my 8 months LG dryer broke. I couldnt go with the same experience. I decided to pay out of pocket, 300$ later. The dryer broke 1 week later. I just spoke to an LG supervisor who said that she didnt get any parts order. I am literally crying... Worst customer service. Terrible appliance!
I recently bought LG WD1275QDT, found disappointing not unto expectation for the price range. Not recommended (but company suggests) for liquid detergent use if you use pre-wash, Main-wash detergent will leach into pre-wash and left nothing for main wash (Media has better design for dual use). If you open detergent tray risk softener leaching into wash (bad design). Rinse and wash water inlet is same. Expect more soap may leak every time. Also pipe is corrugated may hold detergent. Takes long time to wash. 2-3 hr is most common option (I found time being wasted between cycles, NOTHING is optimized may be company wanted to use all possible rotations of inverter control). Load sensor will NOT help to optimize/help select correct detergent according to load because 1. Reading not indicated 2. You have to put detergent before start (waste of technology). If paused door opens after 2 mins and machine switches off after next 2 min (very bad). Sometimes door doesnt open even after pause or power off??? If you pause 2 times machine switches off, have to start over again (Software bug?). Machine has option like selecting pre-wash, spin, temp crease care, intensive but they have to be selected before, change of mind. No way.
Updated on 05/02/2021: This is my second review on the same LG electric range. This range has not worked correctly since the first month or two after we bought it! The temperature is NEVER at the correct temperature, the fan never stops blowing even though it’s in regular bake so that every baked good comes out too dark, and the cleaning feature has NEVER worked correctly. I have contacted LG and after them blowing me off the first time, I came here to warn people away from this garbage LG range. LG finally, after contacting me because of my first review, had two different repair companies come to my house. The first company had made seven appointments to attempt to see what was wrong. Four different repairmen came and each one gave us a different story and ordered the wrong parts, resulting in them having to order something else and come at a later date. The second company sent one repairman and he replaced some parts also and it seemed ok, but it’s still all over the place temperature wise and the fan never goes off, still!I do not use the convection setting, the fan should not be burning the tops of my food. This supposed attempt at LG repairing their defective appliance has been going on (this time) since November 2020. As soon as I can afford it, I’m buying a new range and rolling this one down the driveway for the garbage man. People, stay away from LG’s electric ranges, especially this model.Original Review: My LG electric range is only about 18 months old and I really think I wasted my money. I’ve cleaned it a few times a year and all it does is blow all of the dirty stuff onto the door and I always have a layer of black burnt on mess that I have to soak off. The gasket around the door is severely stained from the black gunk that just gets baked on as the oven cleans. I called LG about a year ago and they argued with me and told me to clean the gasket myself when the owner’s manual states not to. When I told the person which page to go to in the manual, they put me on hold forever. When they came back they said they would send out a new gasket that I could install myself. The gasket has yet to arrive, and the promised call-back from a supervisor never happened.Today, I cleaned my oven again and, yep, I’m soaking of the black layer with baking soda and water, the gasket is even more stained now. The oven fan seems to run non-stop, as if it is on convection not regular bake. I’m so disappointed and embarrassed that I proudly announced that I had just bought an LG range in the beginning. How can companies keep their business with such an inadequate level of customer service and defective products? I guess I’ll just be one of the crowd that I didn’t know existed until I searched for possible answers to this defective range’s issues. Never, never, never, again, LG! Keep your junk. My $1000 Whirlpool Gold could run laps around this piece of garbage, I wish I’d never replaced it.
In January 2019 we purchased four new top-of-the-line LG appliances from Home Depot: dishwasher, oven/range/microwave and refrigerator. Within two months we had problems with the dishwasher and LG did not have the needed parts. Within the next several months we had to call for service on the oven/range (twice), on the microwave, and this week on the refrigerator. LG was extremely uncooperative in scheduling a service appointment, even after the Home Depot telephone them on our behalf. They insisted on photographs of our receipts (we have neither smart phones or the ability to transmit photos) although we gave LG THE MODEL NUMBER, SERIAL NUMBER, RECEIPT NUMBER AND DATE AND THE TELEPHONE NUMBER OF THE Home Depot store. The LG representative was rude, and even hung up on my wife. Home Depot had a similar experience, and advised us to NEVER buy an LG appliance from Home Depot in the future. Not much chance of that! I purchased a brand new LG Range, Model #LDE3031ST that was delivered from Best Buy on February 8, 2014. I am only at this residence on Saturday and Sunday where the Range is, so it gets minimal use. On April 8, 2014, the bottom oven of the range stopped working. I contacted Best Buy who referred me to LG. I jumped through hoops with LG. They insisted I send them a receipt documenting that the unit was new and still under warranty. I did this the same day. No response. Two days later, I call again. I am given the number of the local repair company who is suppose to fix it. Fine, it was a Saturday so I was told by LG that I should hear from them on Monday. I did not. On Tuesday, I receive an email with a repair date of Tuesday. I call LG to find out what time and they tell me that it has been cancelled because the repairman said I wasnt available. I never received a call and I actually have someone sitting at the residence all day this day. I am told that they can come out Friday (today). Fine, I have someone sitting there waiting. I call LG this morning. They are closed for the holiday. I call the repairman. This is my third call to the repairman who has not returned my calls. He is rude and states that they have no repairs scheduled for today. That maybe Monday or Tuesday he will call me. Easter is Sunday. I have 20 people coming over that I have to feed cold cereal because the oven doesnt work.I am getting a run around for a lemon. I have been waiting 20 years for a new range that works. I am not happy with this one. LG does not stand behind their product. When I continually call, I am confronted each time with a, what seems to be the problem. Evidence they do not keep records. Do NOT buy from LG. Its the worst experience I have ever had with an appliance. I plan on opening a claim with the BBB and my local Attorney General.UPDATED ON 01/23/2015: I had written a previous review regarding the horrible service I received from LG. Since my original review, a service tech has come out to my home 4 more times to fix the same issue. LG refused to give me a new range. For the year I owned the range, 15 days was the waiting period I had to wait for the stove to be delivered. The first service call I did not have a working range for 6 weeks. The second service call, no range for 3 weeks. The third, no range for two weeks and the last service call, no range for 4 weeks. So out of the 12 month warranty, my range only worked less then 8 months. Buyer BEWARE. Every holiday last year was ruined because of this stupid range. Every holiday, I was without a range that worked and LG responded with, We are very busy with it being the holidays. The service tech, which was very nice and not working directly for LG but an independent that I made them send because the LG tech never showed up and never called. The tech told me that these stoves constantly have trouble because its a smart stove and the motherboard can break from a brown out or the simplest things. Run from LG.
Electric Range LRE30451SB - Purchased from Best buy in April 2008. Last evening ten minutes into cooking dinner, there was cracking, sound, like blown electrical noises, a bunch of red under my large burner (in areas that there should not have been) and what sounded like an electrical explosion. No smoke, no smell.... and strangely enough it did not blow the breaker. Purchased the additional 5 year protection plan, but of course as luck would have it I am 4 months out of warranty. Best Buy told me I should have received another email offering additional protection (did not receive), so I am out of luck. Did some research (on this site) and saw mention of a recall. I called LG, and mine was one of the recalled ranges. WHY ON EARTH were customers not notified of this recall? Especially when it has to do with burners getting too hot and/or not shutting off. I could have done without the near cardiac experience. There is supposed to be a technician here in the morning. This is the second LG product that we have had a major problem with. The other was a TV less than 6 months old. Very upsetting. We work very hard, and prices are high, quality low.
Was fortunate enough to buy our LG refrigerator at Costco, because after one year and two weeks, it stopped cooling in both the freezer and refrigerator. After telling LG phone tech that we have lots of food which will spoil if not cooled/frozen, they arranged to have a service tech call on us in 6 DAYS. What a joke! Costco Concierge service was great, but they seem to be at the mercy of LG technicians for service scheduling.
I bought this oven for my husband in December. In July he cooked a pork roast in the lower oven. The area between the 2 panes of glass filled with grease and condensation. We looked at the top of the door and it is designed without any type of seal to prevent this from happening. I called the company and they said this is a maintenance issue and not covered. There is absolutely no way to clean this awful looking door so now Im left with a new oven that looks 30 years old and dirty. This is a terrible design flaw and no business should carry LG if they dont stand behind their products. The oven looked very pretty in the store with its blue interior, but, unless you never plan to cook I would not recommend even considering this oven. Wish I would have read these reviews before my purchase, thats what I get for impulse buying. Ill now be back to Best Buy shopping for a new oven and giving this one to the scrappers.
Please be a prudent shopper when buying this unit. We purchased this refrigerator (LG Linear Compressor Refrigerator) two years ago and paid about $1000 extra for a counter depth unit. That brought the price just close to $3700.00. I did not get the warranty because I thought it would last at least five years. Nope. The Error Code E-IF comes on at least once a month. The refrigerator went in bad order about six months after we bought it. Luckily the year warranty was still good. Just about every month now, I have to use a hair dryer and defrost the unit so my family can get ice and water through the door. That is not good for a unit of this price. At first, I would pull the unit out and unplugging it for at least four hours. That is not good when the thing weighs a ton and it has to sit in the middle of the kitchen. I have now found a YouTube video of another customer that uses a ladys hair dryer to defrost the unit. I have began using a hair dryer to defrost the unit as well. It is much faster. Searching the internet, I have found other people who reported this is not a great unit to buy and they too have had many problems. LG should issue a recall or reach out to the many customers who have complained about this unit. I think that will go a long way to making the consumer happy. Again, it is the ice maker that is horrible.UPDATE on 04/08/2017: I had a service person come out and they told me my electronics board and the fan at the bottom of the unit needed replacing. Mind you, we have had this unit (LG Linear Compressor Refrigerator) less than five years. The technician said company recommended a new board and a new ice fan. The board only cost .74 cents. That is right.. Only 74 cents. I find that strange. Seems to me that board was bad. The Ice Fan was a tad more costly. Anyway the job came up to over $300 to repair. Issue one. I had to wait for the electronics board and the fan to arrive. The next service date that I could get was six days from the initial visit. So, I had no ice and water through the door. We survived. We knew that the unit would be fixed in a couple days. Six days later (yesterday) the technician comes out and installs the parts. Refrigerator worked well for ONE day. Just looked at it and a different Error Code is on R-DH. Are you kidding me? This thing cost too much to have all these problems. The fix for this is to unplug the unit and then allow it to reset. So, I have to pull it out from the wall again. How many times, I can could. Maybe I should keep track. I will do this. If it does not work, LG website suggests a service call. Wow.
I purchased a LG Counter Measured Stainless Steel Refrigerator on August 2014 from Home Depot. Into 10 months of having this product (June 2015), I found a large amount of icing behind the produce draw and I could barely open the draw. Apparently the compressor was going and needed to be replaced. LG came out and promptly fixed the problem. They replaced the two boards - internally and externally at no cost to me.Then around early August 2015, I found several rust marks on the right and bottom drawers of the refrigerator. I promptly called LG especially since I had not owned the refrigerator an entire year. They asked me to upload pictures and the representative stated she would present this to senior management to see what they could do to remedy this. She called back the next day and said senior management felt that the damage was caused by me in some way. I told them that I had purchased a dishwasher and a range at the same time, clean them with the same stainless steel product, and the items did not have rust marks. They said that their decision was final.Surprisingly I received a call in late October 2015 from LG inquiring about the rust spots complaint on the fridge. I explained that there were actually additionally rust spots appearing every day and that I was very unhappy with this situation. He sent an LG service person to view the rust spots and take pictures as well. The service man called the warehouse to immediately order me the right and bottom freezer doors and to have them installed the following day. At this point, I am a little concerned that the new doors will have the same problem and if it happens again, will they cover the damage? I have purchased many products from LG and was generally very happy with the products and service.
The large LG refrigerator is simply terrific! It has 2 freezer drawers on the bottom and a really large refrigerator section with a giant pizza-width meat drawer. We chose the stainless steel finish and, admittedly, it is hard to clean but looks so nice when you polish it. The top double doors have just the right storage on the inside. The 3 fruit/veg. containers are nice and big. In the freezer I have unplugged the ice maker, because it took up too much room and simply leave an ice tray across one side of the top section divider. It allows for sections of food to be stored without being in a jumble. It is a very large and tall fridge and I didnt mind doing without the cupboard section that usually is hung above. I found 3 woven baskets that simply sit on top and look very nice there.
The knobs on the oven are not safe and are a fire hazard. All you have to do is lean against them a tad and the eyes will turn on. If you have children or animals you do not want this oven in your house. DO Not leave any items on the stove top because the knobs are so sensitive you will start a fire. They need to recall and fix this issue before a fire from this stove/oven causes deaths.
LRE 3203 ST stainless steel electric range smooth top convection - This electric range is a Junk. Dont ever buy any LG appliances, same issue with the LG refrigerator and dishwasher. In 2012 just before Thanksgiving I purchased new appliances because I wanted all stainless steel thinking that these high-end all computerized LG appliances will serve me and my family at least for 5 years. Unfortunately I went with LG!! Big mistake!!!!! The worst appliances you could ever buy!!!The stove basically started having issues after 2 years. The burners stopped working, replaced the control panel, didnt work!!! We replaced the cooking element, didnt work. Called the customer service, they told me that this stove is too old and basically I have to pay for a technician to come out who is going to tell me what is wrong with the stove and pay for everything! Junk, junk, junk!!! Thank you LG, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. My 3rd cooking element stopped heating Tuesday this week. I have to buy a new stove now. LG customer service is not helpful, dont even bother to call!
My recently purchased LG oven temperatures are totally erratic, occasionally getting so hot as to turn on my smoke detector. While under warranty and after long delays, a service tech came out and made an adjustment. This did not fix the problem and now that my warranty is expired, they want to charge me for another visit. All of the known reliable repair people in my area refuse to work on LG products. I started to troubleshoot the problem on my own and found loose screws, stripped screw heads, and other assembly and manufacturing defects. Im telling all my friends, dont buy LG!
Noticed a burn spot on the inside of my LG Microwave oven about 2 weeks ago. Tried to wipe it clean to no avail. Took a closer look at the spot which is growing larger with each use. Now it seems to be burning away at the material. The microwave has been noisier at start up than usual but thought nothing of it so it may or may not be related to the problem at hand. Contacted LG customer service and their rep told me to stop using the microwave as it could catch on fire, but what was occurring with the microwave would not harm the food being cooked. Thats a small comfort. Requested recall information, but alas there is no recall issued by LG for this problem yet the potential for fire is great. Wheres the logic in that? Hasnt LG heard of Tort law? LG contacted the local repair shop to fix the issue at their expense. Parts and labor paid for by LG. Purchased this microwave in 2008. I have used and owned various microwaves in my lifetime and have never had anything like this happen before. Yes, I keep the interior clean and grease free. Needless to say if this is unrepairable and must buy another microwave it will not be an LG.
My LG stove worked for about 3 and a half years. Then began shutting off and not coming back on. Finally convinced 2 different repairmen to come, but they didnt fix it. Most repairmen near me wont work on LG. Parts hard to get and expensive. It wont come on now at all. Have to buy a new stove and this one is less than 4 years old!
Three of the four LG appliances that we purchased at almost $6,000.00 for the set, have failed in some way since the delivery in July, 2016. The stove has caused two fires. The Microwave computer display has gone crazy and displays all manner of odd characters blinking or scrolling across the display. It doesnt microwave for the time set so we dont dare trust it to do 20 seconds when it could easily do 6 minutes or more. *See Photos. The Refrigerator began failing a little over a month after we installed it. This is a known issue to LG, as I see many buyers of the LG in-door ice maker refrigerators complaining of the same problem. Leaking water and ice build up in the door jam, forming ice in the door jam and inside the refrigerator, making it impossible to open the left produce drawer as the ice blocks it, or to close the front doors completely as ice builds up. *See Photos. The Dishwasher never worked correctly. The detergent compartment wont open. Not with liquid detergent, not with powder detergent, not EMPTY. The heating element doesnt work as the dishes come out sopping wet, even when I choose Extra Dry as a cycle. The Stove is an EXTREME fire danger. The knobs turn so easily and light the flame automatically on high that me reaching over the stove to grab something has turned a burner on more than once. When we were installing the microwave this happened and our shirt, the cardboard and plastic we had protecting the stove from dust, all caught FIRE. Also our cat walking across the knob, turned it on, burning our cats fur. I can not imagine what would happen with children in the home. We should have to push in the knob and turn it in order to light the flame as a safety precaution. Any slight bump or brush on the knobs turns the burners on high. We have to put tape on the knobs to keep them from being turned on accidentally. I see this is a known issue from the volumes of similar complaints from consumers who have bought the LG gas stove. In my opinion, this should be a Class-Action Lawsuit. I sincerely hope it doesnt require the loss of life or 3rd degree burns in order for LG to recall these stoves and do the right thing. So here we spent nearly $6,000.00 on new appliances even though we are on a fixed Military Disability income. Now we have $6,000.00 worth of paperweights by LG. The Model numbers of our appliances are as follows: LG Dishwasher LDT9965BD, LG Microwave LMHM2237BD, LG Gas Stove LDG4315BD, LG Refrigerator LMXC23746D.Uninstalling these appliances and replacing them with Non-LG, quality appliances that will work and not fail, are a significant difficulty for us with my husband disabled and only me to complete the work. It will require me having to hire and pay someone to uninstall the appliances, move them out to the garage and then install the new appliances. We will never buy LG anything, again. I am waiting for a response from LG. Calls to LG are useless with either overseas Operators saying I am sorry Maam for the inconvenience over and over. Or worse, saying that my issues are all Cosmetic and therefore not covered under manufacturer warranty. Calls to the United States Offices of LG also put me on hold forever and then I get hung up on. I did email LG again today. Costco has been much more responsive and I have been working with them over the last 4 months to get a resolution. I have asked Costco to stop selling LG Appliances in their warehouse and online.
Have the recall issue and LG sent a repair co. out and they replaced the main board. It is now a week later and having the same problems with the range. Temps rising on their own. I called LG again and they told me it is a one time fix. I have all LG appliances and am replacing them as I can. Just replaced the dishwasher 2 months ago and the range will be next followed by the washer that Im having issues with as well. Lifes not so good.
While recently reading a Consumer Reports article about recommended refrigerators, I noticed that LG got very high ratings. Given my experiences with an LG refrigerator, I was shocked. Six years ago, we were so pleased with our LG top-loading washer/dryer so decided to look at their refrigerators. I saw the one I wanted right away -- stainless, French door refrigerator with a huge amount of room inside and outer door ice and water dispenser. Loved the interior lighting, too. After looking at this one, I knew nothing else would make me happy so we plunked down $2500 for it, on sale no less! It ran fine the first year and I was the envy of anyone who came to our house and admired it.Skip to year 2 -- New Years Eve and we kept hearing this loud noise whenever the fan came on. An LG certified repair technician checked it a few days later and said it was a known design flaw; ice would build up around the fan and when the fan turned on, it would hit that ice. She was able to repair it and things were great again -- until the water/ice dispenser stopped working later that year. It had to be replaced but luckily, we had bought an extended warranty so we didnt have to pay for it. Shortly after that, one of the glides on a freezer drawer wasnt working correctly and it had to be replaced. This past December, the ice tray kept overfilling with water so when it froze, the tray couldnt empty; we kept hearing a loud clacking noise. I had to get out my blow dryer to thaw the ice enough that the tray could turn over and dump it. Of course, since the refrigerator is 6 years old, our extended warranty was up so it was on us to get it fixed. Luckily, my husband is a former Industrial Arts teacher and avid YouTube viewer, so he ordered a new ice maker and fixed it himself. It worked fine after that.2 months ago when I opened the refrigerator one night, I noticed quite a bit of water on the top of the freezer door. I thought maybe I had spilled water, though I couldnt imagine how I might have spilled that much, and after cleaning it up, I opened the freezer drawer. Soft ice cream, thawing meat, melting ice cubes did not bode well. Strangely, the freezer indicator on the outside of the refrigerator registered 0 degrees. I checked the refrigerator and the inside felt warmer than usual. When I stuck a thermometer inside, it registered 50 degrees. Thinking maybe the coils needed cleaning, we did that and moved all of the food to our 25 year old garage refrigerator and to our basement freezer. The next morning when we checked the temperature in the refrigerator, it was almost 70 degrees so time to call an LG certified technician. (Not easy to find, by the way) The first one who came to our house and checked our refrigerator announced that it needed a new condenser and two evaporators. He was qualified to fix them, but his company would no longer allow their technicians to work on the LG evaporators/condensers because theres a special valve inside that, if damaged during a repair, cant be fixed -- the whole refrigerator would be dead. His company didnt want to assume that responsibility, and I cant really blame them. The second LG certified tech said that even though the parts are still covered by the LG warranty, it would cost us about $700 plus a $100 service charge to fix it. Thats almost a third of what we paid for the refrigerator and would cover the cost of a new no-frills top freezer refrigerator! Oh, and only a 60 day guarantee. We said no thank you, so as we speak, theres what my husband likes to call a $2500 paperweight sitting in our kitchen. I sent an email to LG and the answer I got back sounded as if the girl who replied hadnt even read my email, or at least didnt understand it. Her suggestion was to contact an LG certified technician to fix it. (I guess she missed the part of my email where I said that we consulted TWO LG certified technicians!) Disgusted with that response, I sent a letter to both the President of LG and the Consumer Relations person to express my dissatisfaction with my refrigerator. Have I heard back? No. Will I hear back? Probably not. Given the number of complaints Ive seen over time, it appears that LG service leaves a lot to be desired. I think its a sad commentary when a $2500 less than 7 years old dies, while a 25+ Kenmore out in the garage is still working just fine.According to one of our repairmen and from what Ive read, the problem is that appliance companies today are manufacturing appliances to last only 5-10 years, and refrigerators are nearer the bottom of that estimate. Gone are the days of appliances that lasted 25 years or more (I had a Maytag washer/dryer set that lasted almost 30 years!) Most refrigerators, too, have only a one year warranty, so purchasing a longer warranty is pretty much a necessity. Searching for a new one over the past several weeks has been a real challenge, and so far, nothing has grabbed my attention like my LG did six years ago... maybe because Im going back to simple, top freezer fridge without an ice maker so well hopefully avoid a lot of repairs. Bottom line: If youre looking for a new refrigerator, please do your homework, and stay away from companies with poor service record reviews after the sale. Also, make sure you buy an extended warranty because chances are, youll eventually need it.
We bought an LG Studio top of the line and are having issues with interior light bulb keeps burning out. Meat probe doesnt work. Uneven oven heating, the first call to LG was Sept 15th and they were going to send someone out, second call was Sept 25th, again they were waiting to send a technician out. Third call Oct 2nd, Nathan the customer service advisor promised he would get back to me by the end of the day with a resolution... Still waiting and it is Oct 3rd mid day. WE WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANY LG PRODUCT AGAIN.
My LG refrigerator stopped working yesterday at 3 years old. So LG covers the part but I have to pay $572.00 to have the new compressor installed. And on top of that the parts are a week out and I cannot set up the service appointment to replace the bad compressor until I have the parts in hand. And I was told LG is very bad at getting the parts out. So once parts are in hand I need to set up the appointment and oh by the way they are 2 weeks out because there is only guy that can fix this LG compressor. So that make 3 weeks without a fridge. So I am upset with LG. I looked in my house and I have an LG washer and dryer, 2 TV, sound bar and stove. Do you want to guess who is done with LG products? THIS GUY!
Purchased Lsc5683ws electric range from Goemans Appliances, Cambridge in January 2010. Cost was $1650++. Electrics failed in October 2013. Paid $175.00 for service call and repair. Three weeks later exact same problem. It was fixed again. Used the self clean for the 3rd time only. After completion noticed the blue enamel was coming off. Also had a very strong smell when turned on. March 2015 unit shut down completely. No electronics again, but this time the oven kept heating. Guessing temperature was over 500 degrees. Had to unplug at wall to cut power supply. Feeling very vulnerable to starting a fire. Spent approximately 2-3 hours on phone with LG customer service in the Philippines. Was cut off twice. Uploaded required invoice as requested. Phoned again 2 days later. Sent invoice again. Still waiting on response from advanced team as to what (if anything) they will do for me. Returned to store for help, but they offer no help unless you have purchased their extra insurance. This situation is appalling to me. Do not buy LG. What a waste of money and time.
We purchased a brand new LG washer and dryer in May 2013. Last week the washer stopped working and gave us an OE error. After the repairman came yesterday (Tuesday), we have to wait ANOTHER week for pump that was broken. I have been to the laundromat this morning to the tune of $20 to wash and dry clothes, not to mention the time wasted sitting there. These are precisely the reasons why we wanted a reliable washer and dryer. I am buying new kitchen appliances (microwave, stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator) this summer. I WILL NOT buy LG appliance again. The reliability is terrible!!!
Got the LG Range 9 years ago. Recently the range can not turn off. I check with LG, and they said it is in the Recall List, and it is a known issue. They sent the technician and the technician said the part is out of stock. And he will report the issue back to LG. A lady for customer service called me next two days, and she hardly answer my question. Have to escalate to her supervisor and the whole conversion with the supervisor is total disaster. Basically he said, I am the boss, you have to done whatever I told you. Totally not happy with the conversation. And he ask for the receipt, hey, the range was purchased 9 years ago, not sure how many people keep receipt for 9 years, not even the tax receipt. And finally, he said he will order the part, but it will be available on next year Jan. Then I ask for call me back if the part is available, and he said, thats my business, I have to call back myself to check. Wow, how great LG service!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I asked to talk to his manager, and he said, I am the boss, and I am the last person you can talk to. Can anyone tell me what else I can do?
Updated on 03/24/2020: Well this is just a follow up to my last review. Still no change in the fact that LG has the worst customer service. As stated in my last review I bought the microwave last November and after 10 service calls they still refuse to replace the unit, forcing me to take day after day off work as they try and repair the microwave. DO NOT BUY LG is my advice if youre in the market for appliances. I only hit 1 star because it wouldnt let me put none.Original Review: Well I wish I could say my experience was good, but if I had to do it all over I would definitely not choose LG. It started in November of 2019, I was deep in the middle of a whole house remodel and it was time to purchase appliances. I chose LG because they had the look I was wanting and seemed to have decent reviews. So I made my purchase at the Home Depot and set up delivery. They were delivered the next weekend and as they suggested I unboxed everything at once before the delivery driver left and all looked just as beautiful as the ones I had picked out at the store. I was still a week away from actually installing all the appliances so I didnt think to plug each item in to make sure they worked. Thats where the trouble started, the refrigerator, range, and dishwasher all worked great and still do to this day. But when I got the over the range microwave installed and plugged in it wouldnt work. I immediately called home depot who referred me to LG direct. I called LG direct and they said since I waited 72 hours that I would have to have it fixed rather than replaced. Here we are March 1st 2020, 5 service calls, 8 calls on hold with LG, and a pissed off wife, I still dont have a working microwave, and the part they say it needs is backordered. I am beyond pissed off with LG and would definitely not recommend them on the sole reason as they do not stand behind their product. I wish I could return all of the stuff and go with another brand. Ill keep you updated if they make it right. But I have lost all faith in their customer service.
Loved the look of this range but told salesman I wanted self clean. He said look it has Easy Clean. Not the same I found out 2 months later. Also my service book states I get grill pan for top of stove and small cleaning kit which I found out months later and was told not for my model... But the worst is my oven is chipping enamel - golf ball size chip. Also told not under warranty. This is a defect not warranty problem. So now it’s my problem to replace this part on bottom of oven. Is about $180.00 and grill pan is about 60.00 plus cleaning kit about $10.00 so I need to spend about 250.00 to get my range back to new. Remember this range is only 18 months old... My husband wanted a GE but I like how this looked. Wished I listened but won’t have this range long at this rate because it’s hard to get parts from overseas and customer service sucks and so does the company. Be WARNED!!!!!
The LG front loader leaks and its not a year old. It also has a bad odor... before you load your clothes you have to run empty washer with detergent or your items with stink - really bad. LG ice maker on refrigerator Jams every day. Its a pain in the butt... should have kept my Maytag appliances. They gave me no problems. I wanted to upgrade and remodel home... very bad idea. I hate these LG junk. Spent over 6 grand for all my upgrades... which in fact was a downgrade. Refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, over the range microwave, front loaders washer and dryers with pedestal. Dont waste your money on LG... Ugh.
We purchased this refrigerator in May 2015. Ice maker has always been marginal, but this last week after we got home from a few days away, we found the refrigerator and freezer not working. No error codes, so we tried a power reset. Still no cooling or freezing. We called the appliance repair from the store we purchased from and their technician came out and verified the compressor had failed. He said their shop would contact LG about getting a repair estimate. We had purchased a 5 year warranty, but were 15 months out of coverage. Started to investigate if this was a common problem and lo and behold, we find there was a class action suit against LG for defective linear compressors. Our model was in the affected date range, however the settlement only covered 5 years after purchase for parts and labor. We are now waiting for a repair estimate. LG compressors are not reliable. Do your own research. These fridges are advertised as saving money, but when you spend over $2000 for a piece of junk that only lasted 6 years, do the math. They are not cheaper to own. We went shopping for a replacement and told the sales lady our experience with LG refrigerators and she commented that several of her customers had conveyed the same story about failed LG compressors. It is probably going to make more sense to just purchase a new refrigerator, given the cost of repair labor. Rest assured, it will not be LG or any other LG product in the future. LG is not Life is Good. It is Lucky Goldstar. Our luck ran out.
We have had an F3 error code issue for months, it threw the error for the first time 2 years to the month from date of manufacture. We have had the range for 26 months and the error for the last six months of that. After numerous calls with LG they would tell us to unplug the unit and at first that would clear the error only for it to return a few days to a week later, then when those calls resulted in the error never clearing they suggested that we have a tech out to fix it at our own expense since it was beyond warranty. After numerous visits from a LG referred appliance repair company, having LG first suggest we spend $200 on a part to replace the buttons, then when that didnt work asked to spend another $160 on the actual control panel part for the electronic system LG shipped a part for this stove which does not fit in the actual model we have. They apparently have discontinued the original part that is needed, at this point there is no part that fits our range which was manufactured 2 years ago in March 2018, we received the stove in June 2018 and have had issues with the F3 error button in a continuous shortage stage since about March 2020.This was not a cheap gas range. It cost ~$2,000 and to have spent $360 on parts + another $200 on labor at this point we are so frustrated. that is $560 that we could have put towards a stove that would not be a continuous pain the the side to have repaired, for an issue that should not be coming up so close to the manufacture date on an appliance of this cost only to find that they dont make the part we need any longer. I would not recommend purchasing a LG range to anyone I know.
It is a front loader that is energy efficient. It was a reasonable price at the time compared to other washers available. I am not a fan of the upcharge for a color so we ended up with white. I also am not a huge fan of the way the water lines need to be cleaned out. If you dont leave the door wide open, it gets a funky moldy smell. I want it to be within my price range and large enough to do my familys laundry. I prefer name brands with reputations for quality and longevity. Regular repairs would make me flip. The washers are expensive enough as is that I dont need to be spending MORE money to fix it.
LR3023ST - The touch panel quit working on several buttons affecting 3 burners and some oven numbers at 2 years. The touch panel was replaced. Then 2 months later it happened again affecting 2 different burners and the off button for the oven. We will never buy another LG stove again. We would like to give this costly endeavor a zero as we go out to buy another stove today.
I have purchased a LG Microwave Oven model MS4266OBS from Good Guys in 2018. The following statement is printed on the glass door of the MW oven: Smart Inverter Magnetron 10-year Warranty - Please see the picture attached. It doesnt say either Part only warranty or Limited Warranty. My LG MW oven does not heat after 4 years. LG Customer support asked me to perform a quick test and they determined that the Magnetron is faulty and need to replace. They also told me that they do provide the part free of charge but I have to pay for the labour. When I mentioned what is printed on the glass door of the MW oven, they said I need to refer to the operations a manual that comes with the MW oven to get full details of the 10-year warranty and its my faulty as I have not read the operations manual before making the purchase. As per the advice received from the LG Australia Customer Services, LG EXPECTS ALL CUSTOMERS TO READ THE OPERATIONS MANUAL OF ANY LG APPLIANCE prior to buying them as what is written in the operations manual could be a clear contradiction of what is printed on the appliance. This is misleading the customers who trust whats written on the appliance to be accurate as per how it is written on the appliance. BE CAREFUL with this dodgy company, their dodgy products and customer service! It is not possible for anyone to read the operations manual of a product at a shop before you purchase it. I am not sure how these companies were allowed to operate in this kind of dodgy manner.
I am very dissatisfied that this new range panel is malfunctioning after LESS than 6 months of use. The light button will not work and on one of the front eyes the eye button will only go on High and will not go cooler. The oven will not turn on. Very poor quality product.
Remodel kitchen, replaced all appliances with LG top of line Stainless items. Within a few months the knobs start melting, after LG repairman visited a few times and attempted to repair the stove to no avail. I got the run around after contacting Home Depot where I purchased the items, the manager got involved and the range was replaced. The problem continued with the second range. I did get a couple set and then LG stated they would send one more set, now that that set has melted I just cant afford the high cost of another set of control knobs. Its really sad that you invest so much money buying someone products and they pretty much NOT worth the time you spend researching for the best products. These company makes Billions but do not care if their products are a value or if the consumers got a fair shake out of the deal!
We originally purchased our LG LRE3061BD range in September of 2017. Within a week of owning it the cooktop cracked. We called to get a replacement but being as it was a newer model the replacement tops were backordered several months. Going several months without a stove would not work as we are a house of 5 and I need to be able to feed our littles. We went out and purchased another one of the same model as all of our appliances were a matching set.Now fast forward to today and our cooktop is cracked AGAIN. There was no moment where we saw it crack. We went to the stove which was off at the time and saw the crack. I have owned several cooktops over the years and have never had the glass crack before. Now Ive had the same model crack twice in two years. I called LG and they informed me that it was no longer under warranty. They also told us that there is a recall on this particular cooktop for the burners not working properly. After hanging up and researching the replacement part I called LG back. If Im going to Shell out another 350.00 for a replacement cooktop I want the recall fixed as I dont know if this could be what is causing the glass to crack. When I call back I speak to someone else who now tells me there is no recall on this model. I dont understand how in 5 minutes there is such a drastic change in the information Im being given. I ask to speak to a supervisor and I am placed on hold. The man gets back on and says that he spoke with his supervisor and has escalated the call and a supervisor will call me back. I asked when they will be calling and he says that it will be 24-48 hours for the message to get to the supervisor and for them to call me back. I explained to him that this would not work as I either need to order a replacement now or go get yet another new stove to be able to cook for my littles. He says it takes that long for the message to get to the supervisor.I explained to him that in this day and age with email and phones it does not take 48 hours for a message to get to someone. He puts me on hold again and tells me he spoke with his supervisor again and he will review the information and call me back in a few minutes. That was almost an hour ago. We shall see if they call back and if it goes anywhere. I would not recommend purchasing this product. I believe the small triangles in the glass are playing a toll on the structural integrity of the glass. This is the only difference between the cooktops I have owned previously and the two that have now cracked. I am not hard on my appliances and it breaking twice in two years is unacceptable.
LG Range #LRE30453ST - Never used convection oven. Good thing after reading others. Hardly used oven and it stopped heating. Service tech replaced control and it worked twice and stopped heating again. Now says needs new control panel which tech says they no longer make and this problem was a recall. He said they will either replace with new range or pay me. I call LG and they say they do still make the part but it is on 2-3 week back order and cant tell me if it is different than the one I had that was recalled for design problems. So if I ever go get the new panel, what assurances do I have that it wont happen again? None. This range is a problem and the company should be taking better steps to resolve. Does anyone know if there is a class action suit going on this? I will NEVER buy LG again. Right now my whole kitchen is LG. NEVER AGAIN! Do not buy..... I rate them zero stars but you require at least one to submit so let that be minus one.
Purchased a double oven model # LDG3035ST/01, within the first year the top oven kept giving a F9 and F11 code and the oven wouldn’t heat past 100 degrees-so we started only using the bottom oven which now gives us the same code. We basically only use our range for the cooktop. So disappointing and we never will buy a LG product.
I researched ovens forever and finally settled on an LG. I was so excited. I used it twice - once for a frozen dinner and once for a turkey. All the moisture and grease went straight into the area between the glass. I tried the self-clean (both kinds) and water from the self-clean went between the glass as well. There was obviously a seal issue. I called LG and they said no - its cosmetic (didnt seem to make a difference it happened from cooking once). I kept going from service rep to service rep and speaking to people until they sent out a service technician. I asked him can you please fix the seal issue? I told him I didnt care if he fixed it or replaced the door, either way that would have been fine. He said no I am going to order you a new door, it should take 6 weeks. I asked do I need to do anything? He said no. I called to check on the status of my new door and they said OH...LG declined to send it... Not one person from LG or the repair place called me to tell me that, not a word from anyone, the repair place passed the buck and said they were supposed to let you know.So I called, spent more time on the phone trying to explain they need to either fix the seal as every bit of moisture gets in there or replace the door. They didnt care. They said its just cosmetic, your oven still works. I asked them so what you are saying is that all your ovens have this issue, mine is not an exception, and you stand behind the fact that even a brand-new oven is going to look like hell? No answer. I asked about the implied warranty of merchantability and she checked with Legal and said no, they dont have to do anything because its considered cosmetic. She then went on to say it says in the manual not to put a lot of water directly on the oven... I proceeded to tell her I did not, I only followed the self-clean instructions to the letter and the repairman could see that there is a gap and all moisture is getting in. Did not matter and furthermore did not have ONE word, not even an apology for not contacting me to let me know that they had denied the request. No one at LG calls back and follows up and they just keep saying this is cosmetic and they dont care because people keep buying the product. When I brought it up to them that their customer service was not good and they needed to at least speak to their customers and let them know instead of just letting them wait - no response. It is also my opinion the repair companies they send are just as bad since they basically lied to me--that repairman looked me straight in the eye and said your new door should be here in about 6 weeks. I am warning anyone who is shopping for an oven - do not get an LG - unless you dont care if it looks like hell even the very first or second time you use it. Now I am going to have to research and find a repair person to see if I can have the problem fixed on my dime when this was 100% not my fault and LGs defective product. In summary, on top of the fact there is a seal issue within the glass, the customer service is the worst I have seen of any business I have dealt with. The fact that they say its cosmetic even though its a brand new oven shows that once they have sold the item, they do not care if that item looks bad through no fault of the customer. I can understand if the oven gets scratched or has some sort of cosmetic issue over time, but for this to be an issue right out of the box and for them not even to attempt to fix it (not necessarily replace but fix) is truly beyond the worst customer service there can be. I have never written a consumer report before but I am so mad and do not want anyone else to have this happen to them. I will never buy LG again (or for that matter, Samsung as they are all part of the same company) and recommend when purchasing an appliance of any sort - go with another brand do not buy LG unless you are willing to pay for problems even if they are not your fault.
My over the range microwave is just over a year old. Making popcorn last night I smelled plastic burning. Opened the microwave door and saw flames coming out of a melted hole in the top of the microwave. Its over a year old so my choice is to buy a new one or go without. Will be buying but NOT a LG. But I sure will be telling everyone I know what happened. For as little as I use it, it should of lasted me years and years.
I purchased the LG 6.3 cu ft self clean oven in black stainless. 12 months in (even though I baby it and am very careful) the paint is chipping off. Now 1 month later the fan motor growls every time I use the oven. I called LG and asked if they would cover the repair simply because it is so very recently out of warranty. No. No chance. $125 to have a technician assess it and then whatever the parts and labor are to repair it. If the product is only designed to last 13 months perhaps it should be cheaper than $1100. I have used it approximately 300 times for about an hour max each time. So 300 hours of use should be all you should expect.
I purchased a $6,000.00 worth of LG appliances approximately one and a half years ago from Sears. The microwave oven (Model: 2085ST) now needs a replacement door panel not covered by the warranty. The microwave has had minimal usage (average use of once a week which equates to 60 uses). Upon attempting to resolve the problem using the LG customer service line, I was referred to a local service center which did not even work on LG appliances. Additionally, I was placed on hold twice and had to repeat my issue twice to rude employees. The quality of the appliance and the customer service is so poor. Evidently, the company has no responsibility to stand behind their products. I will strongly advise everyone I know to never purchase LG products.
The front left element of my induction range has stopped heating. The indicator light turns on, but the pot never heats up. It also doesnt recognize when a pot is NOT on the element like the other elements do. I tried unplugging the unit and plugging it back in but it didnt work. This range is over $2000 and has been in use for less than a year. Unfortunately, I purchased it barely over a year ago - a couple months before moving into my new house - which means that that warranty has just barely expired last month. I bought a whole set of LG kitchen appliances for the new house and 3 of the 4 have had problems so far (fridge compressor went out a month ago, microwave plate broke in half randomly while cooking 6 months ago).
I purchased a LG refrigerator from Abt Electronics in 12/15. Less than 8 months, the ice maker was not working. The manufacturer came out, ordered the part and had it delivered to my house the next day. He returned to install it. Then less than 18 months after purchasing the new refrigerator, it started making a strange noise. The next morning, there was water in it.Called LG and was told the warranty was up since it was over a year old to call Abt and use my extended warranty service. Called Abt, they diagnosed the problem as it needing a new condenser! Had to wait on the part. Returned a week later installed the condenser. Later the same day, the panel on the doorways showing an error code and the ice maker or water dispenser wouldnt work nor was it cooling in the refrigerator but the freezer was working. Used my extended service warranty again, had to wait a week to get the part and reschedule another service call. They came out to install the fan.I have now had all three major parts on this less than 1.5 year old LG refrigerator. What else can go wrong now? Thank goodness I had an old 30 year old refrigerator in my garage to use as a backup! Wouldnt ever buy an LG refrigerators again. Hoping this last five years! My earlier refrigerator lasted 22 years with no repairs. I just bought a new one since I had my kitchen remodeled!
I bought a LG Over the oven Microwave about two years ago. It just suddenly died on me after gentle use. I went to heat up a small meal and realized the thing was totally dead. It did not show the time, the inside light was not on - nothing. I checked my house power outlet to make sure it was ok and it was. So, it was the microwave that was not working. I will never buy another LG product. And I will also tell everyone not to buy their products.
This range has been very good for baking, roasting and broiling. And it is self-cleaning. The convection setting works well. Enjoy the tunes when oven has pre-heated or timer goes off.
I had an LG washer for about three and half years. The washer stopped spinning. I called LG for the 10-year warranty and was told that a technician would come out and check the washer. I was told it would be around $100 to diagnose the problem. I told LG that the motor was slipping, it should be covered under their 10-year warranty. They said I would still have to pay a technician to come out to tell me what I already knew. I argued with them many times about the problem. I even asked them to send someone out for a courtesy call; they would not . They finally gave me the number for Parts. They found the part for the motor rotor assembly. They opened the back of the washer, undid the mounting bolt, removed the rotor, and sure enough, the rotor assembly gear was made of cheap plastic. It was strange because the new one with a metal center was stripped out. This not only should be covered by the warranty, but also, a defective product should be covered by the company. The whole job of replacing this part was about 15 minutes and $75 in parts. I have photos of the part being removed with its stripped center and the new one being installed.
PSA: DO NOT buy an LG refrigerator. Both they, and the service company they contract with, A&E are absolutely horrible. Back story: I purchased an LG fridge 2.5 years ago to replace an aging one which was keeping food in the 56º range. The new fridge worked fine with the exception of the black satin stainless finish on it which had started peeling off. About a month ago I called to report that. They sent out a service tech who said it was a manufacturers defect and it was covered. They would replace the doors in approximately two weeks.About a week after that, the fridge quit working. I checked all the stuff a non technical person like myself knows to check: had the door been left open; was the air intake clogged. Nope and nope. I busted out the manual. They said to call LG if it was failing to cool so I got on the horn with their service. Shortly into the phone call, the customer service person says, touch the inside of the fridge, does it have any condensation on it? It did not. He told me it was the compressor and promptly scheduled a service call which was about a week out. So I threw out stuff which would perish soon, got freezer stuff to my friends and cleaned the fridge so that it would not get stanky sitting closed up without power. The tech shows up as scheduled, confirms it is the compressor and also the motherboard and orders parts. The parts arrive a few days later, they are the wrong parts. We are now a week and a half in. He blames it on LG (who knows if it was LG or A&E at this point) and says he is going to order the parts and they will be overnighted. Had this been the case they would have arrived on a Thursday, come the next Tuesday, there are still no parts, so we call again. Now the story is that they will be ordering the parts and they will be here tomorrow. LG ships the parts to the consumers home, and A&E will not schedule until the parts arrive so first you get to wait for the parts, then you get to wait for them to have availability in their schedule. The parts arrive, three days later they schedule the tech yet again. They call the day that the repair is to be scheduled and say that the tech called in that day and they will need to reschedule. At this point another friend gets on the horn and basically tells them, oh hell no! and they miraculously find someone from Cape Girardeau and send him up. The guy puts the parts in, says to leave the fridge for 24 hours before putting anything into it. This was yesterday. Wake up this morning and the fridge is yet again a balmy 65º.Call LG AGAIN .... and A&E is closed and wont be able to schedule anything until Monday. Which will then of course be another service call scheduled days out, another tech coming out saying, yes the fridge is not working, ordering additional parts, waiting for parts, waiting to schedule said parts to be told that the fridge cannot be repaired. The fridge is under manufacturers warranty. The failed compressor has a 10 year warranty. I have the extended 5 year store warranty. There are so many 1 ⭐️ reviews on the LG fridge and A&E with people who are having the exact same issues as I am with both companies on Consumer Affairs, this entire debacle is being repeated all over the place. We are now three weeks into this, the doors never did arrive, the fridge still doesnt work and we are waiting on service yet again. If I can save any of you the headache, I wanted to put this out there.
This is the 4th appliance (6 in total) that is nothing but crap! The model # LRE30453SB is the range that we own! I have had a technician out 4 times in 7 months to fix problems! The sensor has been replaced twice and the brain box once, and last week (11/8/2012), they were back again because of the same problem (sensor). This time, they put goop in the back of it to keep it from making the sensor noise. All I want is to have decent appliances! Luckily for me, this range has an extended warranty! My fridge wasnt so lucky. Well, I should say we are so lucky - $500 in medicine and food wasted! LG doesnt care! They wont do anything! The list goes on and on for ** appliances! The dryer and washer have both had to have repairs to them within the first year; the range, 4 times in 7 months. Now the fridge! Something needs to be done! This is a lot of money that I dont have to replace the food lost, and potentially new fridge! Do something.
My very nice LG (big freezer on the bottom) has a computer that lasted 5 1/2 years and Ive been told that thats pretty good for an LG. The service people (two different companies) hate to work on this brand because of the difficulties in understanding the pamphlets/instruction on how to fix them. The two companies I called for help each asked me some pertinent information about my problem and after answering them, both told me the same thing.... The motherboard has died, just like that. I had really liked the fridge until it simply stopped working, even though over the years it made some strange noises and I had trouble with the automatic ice maker. I love the size of the freezer and the fact that its on the bottom. But none of that helps when the thing decides to quit. My problem is that this one replaced (in Feb 2009) a Coldspot that we purchased in 1977!!!! Really! Yes, we had to put in a new compressor in 1991, but what service that thing gave over the years!! To find a silver lining, I guess I have to look at it from the viewpoint that the cost of the LG ($1200) came to spending a little more than $200 a year for its service, which is small enough. Next time I buy a fridge, Ill stick to the old standby names!!
Total runaround. In the first year my knobs have melted, called and complained and they were not covered, they said I shouldn’t use the oven for heat! Sent an email complaint. They sent me new knobs. Year 2 the door is rusting inside behind the glass, again not covered, told it was a maintenance problem, the door is getting wet!! Inside!! Also the knobs have melted again, If the oven is in use and I take the knobs off the temperature of the front panel is more than 200 degrees. If you bump the knobs they turn the gas on. I have the extended warranty and still be charged for service and labor. Please tell me what is the purpose of an extended warranty! Model number Lrg3085st. Serial 505mmqhof948. Pictures have been sent.
Last Friday, I came home with a car-full of groceries only to find that something was wrong with my LG model LFX31925ST. Retrieving my owner’s manual to call for help on my 18-month old fridge deemed fruitless. After being on the phone with what seemed to be an outsourced customer service department for over 30 minutes, the only help I received was My policy says I cant do anything,” which when translated meant I was out of luck. That cool feature where you can link your smart phone for a diagnostic check is only good for the first year. I was told he could schedule a serviceman to come out to check the codes on the door panel for a beginning fee of $89.00. I said I was unable to afford it and hung up. My son went online and looked up the error codes, which this rep refused to tell me what they meant and was not listed in the manual. After further online research, I was able to figure out what I could do and 24 hours later, it was back to working. It was the icemaker fan, which appears to be a flaw in these fridges. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I researched different products 2 years ago when I discovered that my husband was planning on leaving me. I insisted on what I thought was top of the line appliances in the kitchen. So I now have a fridge I cant rely on, a dishwasher that doesnt clean dishes no matter what soap or rinse agent I use and an oven that works but it is a good thing I dont cook much. I am disabled and on a fixed income, so I was hoping that my new kitchen would last me 10-15 years but may get less than 5 at this rate. Dont go by reviews on their website since they only use certain reviews.
I purchased an LG electric range in early 2013 and just two months later it malfunctioned. When I called LG for service they never called me back and then it started working on its own so I never called them back. However, on Thanksgiving morning it completely died. We checked everything and we could not get it to work. We were told by several people who work with electronics that it was probably the motherboard which is too expensive to replace as far as Im concerned. I am very unhappy with this product considering we paid seven to $800 for it just two years ago and now it is basically useless and will just go fill a landfill somewhere. I cannot find my receipt but I have spoken to LG repair regarding this item.
My refrigerator is 5 years old (LFX28978ST/02). Purchased with every appliance as we were moving into a new home. Already went through one issue shortly after purchasing the fridge with the ice maker. They made it right, but the LG certified technicians had to come back multiple times because they really didnt know what they were doing. Now the latest adventure. Compressor went about a month and a half ago. Turns out the compressor has a 10 year warranty. Great, right? Not so much. Getting this problem resolved has been an absolute nightmare. After doing what they wanted me to (having a repairman come out), I found out labor was not included on the compressor. Fine. I found a very reputable company to inspect and agree to do the repair. Unfortunately, its a half a days work so talking $300-$400 just for labor. Decided to have it fixed rather than buy a new fridge.1st call - said I would have a response in 24 hours. 2nd call - said no, timing to hear something back is 24-48 hours. 3rd call - said no, timing is 3 days. 4th call - said no, timing is 3-5 days. I verified if the 5th day was guaranteed (in this case Friday). 5th call - said no, the day I called didnt count so need to wait until Monday. 6th call - show they called my repairman the day I called. (This would prove to be a trend-lies). 7th call - they called and left a VM to my repairman but left a wrong number to call back. Called back to get the number myself. They didnt have the number. They called my repairman (I dont know why - the customer service rep had no info for us) and he told them the same thing. Put in a request on his computer for service center to call my repairman back. 8th call - said they showed they sent out an e-mail with the info to my repairman (they did not).9th call - my repair man was on vacation so could not confirm anything until he returned. Heard nothing. Supposedly putting in their system to call him again. Nothing. 10th call - immediately asked for a supervisor. Transferred me to someone in the states (Huntsville, AL). She told me the other calls go to the Philippines and that the computer showed someone calling him the day I lodged the complaint (lie). Also told me my previous Confirmation/ID# (or whatever they call it) had been closed. Great! She opened a new number. This was Thursday the 17th. Told me my repairman would hear something in 5 business days and there was no way to expedite because there were so many people in front of me. Thursday should count as day one since I called in the morning. Nothing.11th call - Called back on Friday the 25th. Asked for a supervisor. This time did not get transferred to the states.I assume still the Philippines. Told me the computer showed they called my repair man the day I called the last supervisor. (At this point, I feel like they do this in their system in case they get sued so they can say... Look, we called him. He didnt answer. All lies) Promised someone would call my repair man in 30 minutes and an e-mail would follow. Nothing. 12th call - Called Monday the 28th (today). Again asked for a supervisor. Again, Philippines. Joe promised he would have my issue resolved and would not leave until it was. After missing 41 minutes of work, hung up on me. I guess the moral is, dont buy an LG anything! My stoves electronics are also starting to fail as well. They want you to give in so they dont have to ship a compressor that will probably fail again anyway, but Im not giving up. Back to the phone...
We own a lot of LG products so when we were in the market for a new stove, we went straight to the LG section. Well my burner on my range wont turn off. I called LG and they told me my model was on recall and they were aware of the problem. The tech came out and said he had to order the part. Then after spending way too much time on hold (One guy didnt even put me on hold, he put me on mute for 20 minutes!!!), they told me my range was not on the recall list!!! So I would be responsible for the parts and labor!! I then spoke to the supervisor who basically told me there was nothing she could do. So what am I supposed to do with this defected stove... leave the burner on and burn down my house? Not only that the number they gave me for the tech was no longer in service, I had to Google the company myself and provided LG with the correct number... For that alone they should fix my stove! So I will be contacting the better business bureau ...Heres the real kicker, Im hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house!!! LG stands for Lousy Grinches! They stole my Thanksgiving. Maybe Santa will bring me a real stove... by Maytag.
I bought these appliances a 1 1/2 years ago. The upper dishwasher rack is full of rust and peeling. I called LG service to complain and they promised to send me a new rack... That was 3 months ago..Still waiting! The electric range is also junk. When the burners are turned on they immediately go off, so you have to stand there and push the knob in again and again to get it to cook anything. These stainless steel appliances were not cheap. Anyone thinking of buying LG appliances should rethink the purchase. I will never buy another LG product.
