Lennox Furnace Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your Lennox Furnace, look no further! Our comprehensive Lennox Furnace Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

Troubleshooting a Lennox furnace can help identify and potentially resolve issues with your heating system. Here are some general troubleshooting steps you can take. However, keep in mind that the specifics may vary depending on your furnace model, and it's always advisable to consult your furnace's user manual or seek professional help if needed.

Check the Thermostat:

Ensure the thermostat is set to the desired temperature.

Verify that the thermostat has power and is functioning correctly.

Replace the thermostat batteries if applicable.

Inspect the Air Filter:

A dirty or clogged air filter can reduce airflow and impact furnace efficiency.

Replace the air filter if it's dirty or according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Verify Power Supply:

Check that the furnace is receiving power. Ensure that the circuit breaker for the furnace is not tripped.

Verify that the furnace switch (located near the furnace) is in the "ON" position.

Reset the Furnace:

Some Lennox furnaces have a reset button. If you suspect a minor issue, try resetting the furnace by turning it off and back on.

Check for Error Codes:

If your furnace has an LED display, check for error codes. Refer to your furnace's manual for a list of error codes and their meanings.

Inspect the Flame Sensor:

The flame sensor ensures that there is a flame when the furnace is operating. Clean the flame sensor with a fine abrasive pad to remove any buildup.

Inspect Venting and Air Intake:

Ensure that the venting system and air intake are not blocked by debris or snow. Proper airflow is crucial for the furnace to operate efficiently.

Inspect the Ignition System:

If your furnace has a pilot light, check if it's lit. For electronic ignition systems, verify that all components are working correctly.

Check the Gas Supply:

Ensure that the gas supply to the furnace is turned on. If you suspect a gas leak, leave your home immediately and contact the gas company.

If you are unable to identify or resolve the issue on your own, or if you are not comfortable with furnace troubleshooting, it's recommended to contact a qualified HVAC professional. Furnace repair and maintenance should be performed by trained technicians to ensure safety and proper functioning.

I wanted to take the time to write a good review since most people only bother to write reviews when they have an problem. After all when you buy a new product you expect it to work so why would you bother to write a review for that! Well I decided to write this because as most of you are probably doing now, you’re contemplating buying a Lennox but are reading reviews first, and like you I found mostly negative things. I’m not sure it made me feel much better but all the brands I researched had mostly bad reviews. So here’s my experience... I installed a fully modulating furnace (SLP98) and A/C (XC20) along with the WiFi stat and let me tell you it’s awesome! Quietest and most efficient units I’ve ever had. The one thing I also kept reading for Lennox is that parts are hard to get.

I replaced my HVAC system this year. I replaced my Lennox Gas Furnace and Trane Central Air Conditioner unit which were about 20 years old and were trouble free. The new Lennox units are unbelievably quiet and seem to be more energy efficient than my older units.

I bought Lennox elite EL296UH070XV36B-02 furnace on Aug 29, 2012. In Oct 5, 2022 the blower is stop working just one month past the end of warranty. There is no any error code on the control board. I did search through internet and did some test and looks like the motor control module has issues. I take the module to parts and try to test it, but I cannot find any technical documentations show the spec of the 3 pin connector to motor. So there is no way to confirm this part is really bad or not. In the end I spent $456. Bought a new module (It is a non re-fundable part). Fortunately my bet is in the right side.
