My father purchased a Bosch tankless water heater about 18 months ago. He had a professional plumber install the tank to the specifications that the factory mandates. The unit never did work properly. After hours on the phone with tech support listening to every reason in the book why it wasn't "their" fault , and hundreds if not thousands of dollars spent on a plumber they still will not honor their warranty and replace the unit. The problem with the unit is that whenever you turn on the cold water to make the water warm instead of scalding, the heater shuts off completely leaving you with ice cold water. The factory techs tell us that there is not enough water coming into the unit. Ok easy fix right "just tell us how much water is required". O wait the "tech" isn't allowed to suggest anything like that. My father is so frustrated he wants to take the unit outside and shoot it with a rifle. If there is a class action we want in!!!!!! Extremely disappointed!! We purchased this water heater about 4 years ago and for the past year we have to manually turn on the burner. It's been a nightmare! We called Lowe's to purchase the parts, but they do not sell the parts. There was a nine year warranty. Our last water heater lasted about 11 years. It's such a shame that this one is giving us problems just after 3 years. I'm really considering just buying another one. I don't want to continue struggling with this one. It's been a bad purchase and coming to find out that I'm not the only one with this problem. If it's a defect Whirlpool should at least replace them for the inconvenience. They should take responsibility for selling defective products.

I purchased this over a year ago but I just got around to installing it. I installed it in my basement. I put a 10" extension directly above it, a 45 degree elbow, and 11' of extensions to get it out beyond my deck. It seems to be running fine. I put a small slope on the extension to allow the condensation to run out instead of back into the unit. So I didn't put an condensation system on the side pipe. So far it's working great. It does take a little while to reach equilibrium but this isn't my first On-Demand hot water heater and this was expected. I keep it set at 120 F but I doubt that's what's coming out of the faucets. I'm not sure why that is but it's hot enough and the flow is pretty good so I'm not complaining. Now I'm just waiting for my first whole electric bill to see how much savings I'll get from getting rid of my electric hot water heater.

My Whirlpool water heater had to be replaced. I got a new water heater, and filed a complaint against Chris from your company. Talked to Chris, and he requested for paperwork on the old warranty. I tried to send it through fax number 1 800 999 9210, but got no response. Chris, please reply with the fax number so I can send the info you requested

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

I purchased my water heater from Lowe's about 11 months ago. The heater worked just fine for about 3-4 months then a popping noise started like a drum. I called Whirlpool and got this song and dance story with several email telling what is needed to do. Whirlpool said it was a water knock and I needed to install some devices on my water line or a tanks which cost a few hundred dollars. I called the plumber and he replace the main control valve. Same problem again so I called several other times and a plumber came and said it was my water pressure in which his gauge was incorrect. I went Lowe’s to complain and they said they would check into the situation and call me. It’s been several days and no results. Still the same problem. The Heater is a piece of trash and would not suggest anyone purchase one. It a total piece of trash and will replace with a premier heater very soon. Requesting Lowe’s replace or will take to Small Claims Court along with reviews pointed here. By the way, they want $450 to install the items on my water line - almost half the price I paid for the heater.

Your product and customer service is a complete joke. I purchased one of your hot water heater in March. From day one we had problems. Finally after a week of no hot water and your customer service department playing games and the service company you referred playing games, we were able to get a new hot water heater. With that said, that hot water heater has been leaking since day one. I called and they sent me out a replacement part but, still it is leaking. I then called in today and spoke to a miserable supervisor named, Shakir.I called to get service along with request that my warranty that will expire in March be extended. He was rude and to the point of advising no and that he will get the service company out. For 2 hot water heaters to go in less than a 9 month period. What is that saying about your product. Also not extending the warranty even shows your own company doesn't stand behind its own product. Unbelievable! I will never purchase anything with your name attached to anything again!

We bought an 80 gallon lifetime warranty electric water heater. We get about 20 minutes of hot water and then cold water. We've had 2 plumbers out and checked our system and said it has to be the water heater, but they don't want to mess with it in case it voids the warranty. Fine. We called Whirlpool and since the alarm system isn't indicating an issue, they say it's not the water heater. We now have to do a diagnostic ourselves to find out if it is the water heater. What? It has a warranty! We are not plumbers! How come Whirlpool doesn't think it's their equipment? We've already had ours checked and it isn't us! So frustrating and we will not buy another whirlpool product again! Not good customer service to promote repeat buyers. Whirlpool, shame on you.

In 2007 I purchased and installed a Sears WaterMiser 12. After 7 years and 351 days it started to leak from the top. A call to Sears (please note it is NOT 24 hours service) for a warranty claim. I was told it would be $85 for the service call. The service would be between 8:30AM and 4PM. Night before service, an automated message was left claiming the service would be between 12noon and 4pm. Service called at 10:30AM. Service confirmed, yes it is leaking. He took many photos and ordered the part he thinks is faulty.Part (9003487) is covered under warranty. However, to replace the part another $85 service call is needed. The cost of the part is $40.04. Based on a search of this issue, the anode is the problem but it is the beginning of the end for the water heater as corrosion has set in and it will (according to others and the service rep) leak from other places on the top of the tank.
