Product Reviews:

Several years ago I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner through a local dealer. It was supposed to be high quality with a 10 year warranty. After several years the coil developed a very small leak and had to be replaced. I tried to get Goodman to replace it, but they told me that I did not register it correctly and essentially told me to **. After some quick research, I found out there is a class action suit against Goodman for knowingly selling coils with a defective design. Many customers have been stuck with these faulty coils. STAY AWAY FROM ANY PRODUCT GOODMAN SELLS. On the Goodman website it says IN LARGE TYPE "A name you can trust." Do not believe it. I understand that any company can make design mistakes, but Goodman is a very large company that could afford to stand behind their products, but choose NOT TO. Check out the consumer reviews. Goodman is VERY LOW.

I have a Carrier 24ANB624A003 condensing unit matched with a 59TN6080V 17-14 gas furnace and using the communicating thermostat. The contractor that installed it used best practise methods and materials when installing the unit. That included pulling a proper vacuum in the refrigerant pipe and installing a filter dryer before opening the valves on the condensing unit. Carrier's condensing units are pre-charged with enough refrigerant gas for 25' of line set. The contractor has provided me with a ten-year comprehensive warranty conditional on my having them do the annual preventive maintenance. I have 36 years of experience (now retired) as a commercial heating and air conditioning contractor and I have designed and supervised the installation of thousands of systems and am a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers so I can speak with some authority on the subject. Carrier's quality is as good as any other manufacturer. Problems with systems are more often that not poor installations and poorly trained technicians. If your contractor does not provide a ten-year comprehensive parts and labour warranty then choose one that does.

We have had the same ac unit for the last 18 years. After such a long time a replacement is usually a better bargain than repairing. So we went ahead and bought this Ruud. I like how quiet it runs. It functions perfectly and does take much to run so the utility bill is low. This is what good manufacturing is all about.

I built a new home in 2007/2008. I researched and purchased what I was lead to believe was some of finest equipment in HVAC on the market. Boy was I mislead. It was much more pricey than the standard system I was originally quoted but since I was building the home myself for retirement, I wanted the best. The heat pump I purchased was a Bryant Evolution, two stage, variable speed, model # 286-ANA-048000-CBAA, serial # 2907E28649, a 4 ton/16 seer system. Sounds cool but what a piece of junk. The system was roughed in late October 2007 with final installation/operation in late August 2008 when I finished the home.First indication of a problem was a compressor failure the end of March 2009. I was told it was a fluke and the compressor was replaced under warranty. My HVAC system does not experience heavy use or extremes as far as heat and cold because I live in western Washington State where the climate is fairly moderate. In the winter, I burn a lot of wood and the summer we rarely use the A/C. That said, it should be fair to expect even a longer life from this higher end equipment. Not So! In January 2015, I experienced another compressor failure and this is where my true frustration begins. My dealer confirmed that it was in fact another compressor failure and said this had been a much greater problem than Carrier had wished to admit. It was apparently enough of a problem that Carrier was offering a pro-rated replacement program. So my options are: (1) replace the compressor again and take my chances, (2) buy a new replacement Carrier heat pump at a discounted price (approx: $2,000.00) and hope to get a better unit. I have absolutely no problem with the pro-rated idea since I did get some years of service from the original system. The problem is, even though I am technically paying for a new unit, Carrier does not even have enough faith in their own equipment to give me a new warranty. Even if I opt to buy the new replacement unit, they will only recognize the remainder of my original warranty. Is this ridiculous or what? If they were simply replacing my unit at no cost to me, because the original unit was crap, then I would have no beef at all with this ridiculous policy. But in essence, I am paying for the new unit both with more cash and the expectation that the original higher end system that I paid a premium price for would last far longer than it did. The last "standard grade" heat pump I had on my previous home lasted 18 years. So, what's wrong with this picture. When my dealer gave me these options and explained this warranty, I didn't believe it. So I called Carrier customer service. After talking with a representative and then a senior representative named Diane, I was told the dealer was correct and that was all Carrier was willing to do for me. I explained to Diane that this system had failed previously in 2009 but this made no difference. This was all Carrier was willing to offer even with their higher end systems. Very sad that even they don't have enough confidence in their equipment to give a person a new warranty on new equipment. Needless to say I will no longer be using or recommend Carrier equipment to anyone, EVER. This policy and the way they stand by their products and treat their customers is simply horrible. DON'T BUY CARRIER !!!!! So now I will be paying another $5,000.00 to buy a Trane and my big investment just 7 years ago is gone. One last note about some of their higher end products. My neighbor and long-time friend built a home next to me a few months after I built mine. Never guess what my recommendation was to him on HVAC for his house. Yep you got it, same junk. While he did not experience a compressor failure early on like I did, he did experience other smaller issues. However, his system failed (compressor) in the spring of 2014. His system was approximately 1 year newer than mine so his pro-rated cost to replace in April 2014 was approx: $1,500.00 instead of the $2,000.00 I was asked to pay. Ok, so good for him. He got a new replacement system (for a 5-6 year old system) for $1,500.00, AND a NEW Warranty that started from the day his new system arrived. So I would say this was good business on Carrier's part by essentially continuing his HVAC experience for a pro-rated amount and giving him a new warranty on a new product. Something must have happened between April 2014 and the end of the year (probably more failures), because as I said earlier, Carrier no longer has the faith in their equipment to give a new warranty on new products. In case I forgot to say this, DON'T BUY CARRIER and tell all your family, friends, and co-workers.

We bought a beautiful new Rheem HVAC which included a heat pump and gas furnace. The trouble started after our system was two years old. Aug 8th 2020 -(1) The fan motor on heat exchange stopped working and had to be replaced. Within one Month's time we had to replace: (2) The coil and (3) The reverse valve. Although the parts are under warranty the labor cost us around $3000.

I built my home and had a Carrier heating and air system installed less than 5 years ago. I believed Carrier to be one of the best so it was worth the extra money. I was wrong. In the last 4 and a half years, I have had 9, yes 9, service calls on my system. I have had fans out of balance (one was so bad it would rattle the dishes on the countertop in the kitchen). The main unit's compressor locked up and had to be replaced. The main thermostat went out and had to be replaced. There's a freon leak in the upstairs unit and freon has had to be added to both units 4 times. It leaked water condensation in the attic, and now I go to turn it on over the weekend and the downstairs unit blows warm air. It won't cool. It has cost me over $1,300 out of pocket for the things not covered under warranty. Some labor was not covered, some service calls were not covered and, who knew I'd have to pay shipping to get replacement parts shipped to me and then pay shipping to have the faulty parts shipped back to Carrier??? What a ** way to do business. The installer, Love Heating and Air in Monroe, NC is worthless and horrible to deal with and now I'm getting the runaround with Carrier Corp. I'm done with Carrier and wish they would come and rip this crap out of my home. I'll buy the Trane instead or a box fan. At least, the box fan would work.

When the unit arrived from the factory, the plastic door latch was broken. The HVAC installer retained the broken door latch and indicated they'd try to get a replacement. That never happened. When I called Carrier for a replacement part, they indicated they do not ship parts under warranty and told me to go buy the replacement part locally. If they won't honor their warranty with a little plastic part that cost them fifty cents to make, I don't feel they'll be honoring it for large ticket items.

OK... purchased new Trane HVAC with CleanEffects Air Cleaner in November 2011. In July 2012, returned from vacation to find that fan had quit working. Fixed in 2 days. In July 2014, the CleanEffects quit working - diagnosed as a bad door which contains the electronics. Waited 2 weeks for part. Called installer who said the Trane was having a problem supplying the part as they had changed to a new company to manufacture the units and parts for the CleanEffects. Installer said that he was trying to get local distributor to provide the door from a unit in stock but to date that has not been accomplished.I sent email to Trane and received response stating that they hoped to have backlog of parts orders caught up by mid-August 2014. My concern and disappointment with Trane stems from the fact that the company and its distributors appear quite ready to sell CleanEffects units on hand knowing full well they cannot support the product and are at the same time ignoring needs of current owners of the units. Trane seems to have a problem maintaining parts' inventories for their products. I would certainly advise anyone to steer clear of buying the CleanEffects air cleaner as I'm not convinced that it does much of anything when it does "work".

I had a 5 ton Rheem heat pump installed in 2006 to replace a prior AC that lasted 25 years. Two weeks ago, I had to replace the condenser fan and the reversing valve to the tune of over a thousand dollars. Last Friday, I came home from work and the house was 90 degrees inside. I called my HVAC man and he came out. The blower motor had gone out. Not only did it go out, but the barrel and housing is rusted onto the motor and can't be removed. Parts are not in stock and have to be ordered. I will be without air for a week when the parts get here with an outside average temp of 110 here in Arizona. I wouldn't put another Rheem on my roof if they gave it to me for free. What a piece of crap. By the time the repairs are done, I will be in this over $2,000. My advice is to stay away from this product and company. If they can't make a product where you don't have to replace almost every major part in it in only 6 years, it’s obvious they don't care about customer satisfaction. This is my opinion. You can take it or leave it.

We have been in our house for 2 years and everything has been working well, both the heat and the air conditioner. The size that was recommended is perfect for the size of our house. It was installed in a good location at the side of the house about a foot above the ground on a gravel pad.
