Adora Microwave - door falling apart: This microwave is supposed to be installed above a range. The materials are not suited to this. The plastic door has disintegrated. We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. When the first handle failed under warranty GE said that it was not covered as it is a plastic part! They finally covered it after a long conversation.

5 years ago I updated my complete kitchen with Adora LG appliances. To my dismay, the handle on the microwave (Model DVM1950SR1SS) began peeling like paper. Now I have a white plastic handle that’s supposed to be stainless steel as an eyesore in the middle of my kitchen. When I called GE replacement line, I was informed the handle was $164! My 5 year old kitchen is out of date! As far as I’m concerned this is a defective part and GE should replace it at no charge. I have been a faithful GE purchaser for many years. After this mishap, I will no longer recommend GE appliances or will I purchase them.

Our GE Spacemaker XL microwave stopped working on 7/11/12. We purchased our house in January 2000 with the microwave included and have not had any problems with our microwave, until yesterday, when we woke up and tried to pop the kids breakfast in for a quick heat and it made a strange humming noise and you could smell plastic melting. All power was quickly turned off to the unit. Now to find a replacement for this built-in microwave is going to be a problem. The local technician stated the blower motor we need is no longer available. Thanks, GE, for at least 12 years of excellence. We are now looking for a similar replacement.

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

My GE dishwasher was installed the first week of October, 2019. After 3 loads, the unit was no longer functioning properly. I called GE to set up a service appointment to get them to come look at the dishwasher. It ended up taking 3 different technicians, ordering 3 different parts, at 3 different appointments before the problem was fixed (or so I thought). By the time I was able to use my dishwasher again, it was already the end of December and my 30 day return window expired. It is now mid January and I am already having the same problem as before and having to go through the whole process again. Because the year warranty is only for repairs, they will not just replace the unit, and instead I will have to continue dealing with this nightmare. Obviously, I will just be replacing my unit on my own after this.... And it will not be with GE!

Bought a new GE microwave cafe series in May 2014. Within one month the handle which was not stainless steel started to peel and cut my wifes hand. GE sent a replacement new door for the unit that did not close. Then he had to transplant the handle from the new door to the old door. A month later the unit failed. A new replacement unit took 2 months to replace. It has worked 3-4 weeks and has also now totally failed. Our experience with GE CAFE microwave and GE service process is poor to miserable. I would not recommend this product or their service to anyone.

My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

My microwave is a GE, model JE 1040 made in 1998, which they probably dont make anymore. I use it several times a week, mostly to heat up leftovers and water. Also pre-packaged microwavable meals, such as breakfasts and biscuits. I have cooked different kinds of meat and other items in it many times and am completely satisfied with it. I would be lost without it.

Most microwaves Ive tried are pretty similar in performance, except in the case of cooking microwave popcorn. Most are horrible with their preset popcorn button. When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

She said No, that is the service fee. What a racket they have going on.I will not purchase another GE microwave, even though my other appliances are GE. My microwave is six years old. My GE refrigerator ice maker also stopped working after 5 1/2 years. I have had GE washing machine and dryer without no real problems after 12+ years. I have many other things to do other than to voice my extreme and total displeasure with your company. GE - Huge Company, Small Customer Service. We purchased a GE microwave oven from ABT electronics in about August, 2013. In October, 2014 we had issues with the fan remaining on while the door was closed. Called GE. They said the unit was out of warranty by about 2 months. We felt that was a short period of time and that we called as soon as the issue became chronic.Had three service calls where the techs tried to fix a simple problem. First tech walked through our living room with dirty boots. Didnt fix the problem. Messed up our carpet. Bad attitude. Second call, two techs couldnt fix the problem. Said it was a door issue and they made some superficial adjustments. Problem not fixed. Third call, two more techs. Same result. In the meantime I tried to convince GE that I didnt want another service call. I wanted a new unit. No luck. I was offered a discount to purchase a new unit for around $300 or so. Im sure they spent more money on service calls than a new unit would have cost in terms of dollars and the reputation of one of the worlds biggest companies. Now, the fan for the unit stays on almost all the time after the cooking is done. Is this the best GE can do? If so, thats pretty sad. Tried to reach someone in sales who would get it. No such luck. DONT BUY GE AND IF YOU HAVE ISSUES DONT RELY ON A FACELESS, CLUELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HELP IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY.

I purchased a full suite of GE Monogram Appliances about 5 years ago. All are fine except the microwave which was made in China. The back is rusting out, the inside is chipping at the door and moisture builds up in the door window. This progressive deterioration has taken place over the past 5 years. I paid $420 for the microwave plus $226 for the trim kit. Now, all GE wants to do is sell me a new unit and a new trim kit (will not fit old trim kit). I paid approximately $20,000 for the entire group. I bought GE because I trusted the name. Im stuck with GE if I want to match the remaining appliances. There are only two people living in this house so there is only minimal usage. To further complicate things, there is no serial number on the tag.

My GE Profile Dishwasher was serviced 2 years ago for a faulty electronic control pad. It made starting the dishwasher a complete gamble, you never knew when it would actually turn on. I paid a couple hundred dollars to fix this problem 2 years ago and of course it has stopped working once again. So frustrating! GE decides to replace one bad part for another bad part. I then asked for the service call to be covered since it was obviously the same problem but they refused. Our GE Cafe Appliance package is less than 1year old and the convection/microwave door handle is wrinkling and peeling. I realize that weight may be a concern hence the plastic vs. metal handle due to the side hinge of micro but aluminum or other light metal would have made more sense. A service tech is coming out next week to replace the in warranty handle however this cost will be our responsible next year when this happens again. A light metal retrofit/recall seems to be the logical solution to remain customer centric and maintain GE loyalty. How this material choice error is handled by GE to ensure this problem does not repeat during the life of this appliance defines brand loyalty. Thank you for your consideration.

Have a six-year-old GE Tall Tub Café dishwasher (model#GHDT168V00SS) I purchased at Home Depot in Denver. Also purchased a 5 Year Extended Warranty that I assumed was through GEs Extended Warranty Opportunity. The dishwasher suddenly began leaking and ruined our hardwood floors (I know, wood floors in kitchen not good; tell that to the builder). I called GEs customer care number and basically talked to a scripted robot. You dont have a warranty through GE, its a third-part insurer such as Assurant, I was told. Not worth repairing, and the warranty expired a few months ago. I know parts wear out, but for heavens sake, cant they build a dishwasher that doesnt leak from the bottom, underneath the unit, where water will seep unbeknownst to people, eventually destroying the floor? Guess not. So, no more GE appliances EVER. PERIOD! Switched to Samsung, LG and Maytag. Now, gotta spend a couple grand ($2K+) to repair the hardwood floor.

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

Dishwasher was fine for about 2 cycles when it started to leak again. As GE do not have a weekend service I had to take a second half day off work. Different technician said the gasket was not pushed in correctly and I should check it each time before running it. Shouldnt this be part of the design - a gasket that stays put?! Ran the dishwasher. Over a year later, in our new home, as of yesterday, it will start and immediately cut off. Now, weve been using this microwave in the same plug since May and now its October. So, what happened? Today, Im looking for the users manual and have located it online. But it appears that the PDF GE has for it, the Adobe document, has a problem. So, Im going to check it on my laptop, as this is my PC. Thank God we only paid under $100 for it. On some of these consumer complaint stories, the person paid a great deal for theirs.

The GE dishwasher was in place in the home that we bought in 2017. I like the stainless steel outer color, the noise level is minimal, which I like. The options for different cleaning levels are great. It does a good job at cleaning our dishes. My only negative comment is that it was new when the house was built in 2017. For the past three months it has been stopping repeatedly, multiple times, mid-cycle so that you have to repulse the start button multiple times to finish the cycle. It creates steam and food particles can cause scratching!!! Maybe it should be steam proof especially a microwave. Even the door on this is rusted! Why the shelf ends in a freezer are rusted not sure on that one! Will NEVER buy this brand again and shame on them my upgraded appliances dont even make it to 10 yrs. A disgrace. Purchased a GE 650 dishwasher which we quickly discovered has terrible racking for North American dishware. Also the control panel is overly complicated yet limited to use (always flashes settings even when not in use). Once you figure out how to load dishes into the very tight/ narrow tines they fall over and chip/break. When investigating the dishwashers by GE made in China/Taiwan etc all have same issue. The ones made in USA by GE have wider and longer tines. We have had MANY dishwashers over the 40 years and NEVER had one as bad as this. When calling GE customer service the senior rep was not willing to offer any customer satisfaction as nothing technically was wrong. At one point she stated we had made the purchase so live with it even though it was the wrong choice. We offered to pay for any cost difference, etc. When questioned about GEs interest in customer satisfaction she stated that was not a warranty issue. She was not concerned about a satisfied customer. With that, we will not be purchasing another GE product or its affiliates. What a waste of money.

We remodeled our kitchen three years ago and purchased three GE cafe products: the dishwasher, microwave, and stove. The stove has been wonderful, no problems. The microwave was defective when we purchased but was easily repaired by the install of a new circuit board (I believe that is what it was called). Anyhow, no problems since. The dishwasher has been a big disappointment (it too needed a new circuit board) in regards to its performance. Dishes come out looking horrible as if there is still soap on them! I tried different types of soaps, the liquid, tabs, and rinse aids. Nothing seemed to work! I finally gave up on the liquid and my husband cleaned out the liquid dispenser completely and I only used the tabs as the results seemed to be a bit better. I regretted trashing our 15+ year old dishwasher that worked wonderfully! I am giving my review three stars because my coworker suggested I try a product called Lemi Shine (you can purchase at Target). I was not hopeful but it was the answer to my dishwasher prayers! It is incredible and I have used it for a few months now and have no complaints about my dishwasher’s performance. I use only the tab dispenser (Finish Powerball) and then I sprinkle Lemi Shine around the tab and my dishes are clean with NO residue! As an added bonus, the inside of the dishwasher is spic and span too! I guess I didnt notice how filmy and cloudy it had become. Try Lemi Shine and I hope it works for all of you too!

Microwave Oven-Space Saver Model JVM6172DF1WW - This is the same problem that is well documented across the web regarding this POOR General Electric product. I purchased the microwave about 14 months ago and the keypad abruptly stopped working. After checking the electrical circuits from the main box to the device, I determined that the problem is not due to the electrical connection. GE appliance division has been in a poor state for a long time now. The company manufactures this product outside of the U.S., in this case Malaysia, and obviously has a poor quality assurance - quality control plan in place. Couple the production issues with poor customer service and you have a huge, well respected company that is putting out shoddy work.I will be trying to get someone to take responsibility for this problem within General Electric but recognize that any success in that respect is a long shot. My message to other consumers is succinct and to the point - DO NOT purchase this product with your hard earned dollars. Go with another brand with a company that stands behind its products and wants to keep the customer coming back for more. GENERAL ELECTRIC is not one of those companies.

I bought GE dishwasher model #GDF570SGJOCC from a local appliance dealer in April, 2017. The machine cost about $600, and $150 to install. Today I learned the circuit board is caput and it will cost $600 to replace it. I will never again buy a GE product-- 2 years of service and it needs to be replaced.

My GE DVM5140DN1BB Serial # ZS 902371B manufactured in December 2009 has stopped functioning. It looks and sounds like it is working but it will not heat. GE only guarantees their warranty for 1 year after the date of purchase. This should have been my first clue. For a fee, they will come look at it.Growing up we had an Amana Radar Range. My mom bought it in 1987. I replaced it so that I could save counter space and also that it would match my other kitchen appliances. I bought the GE microwave in May 2010. This product lasted for a total of 16 months. Ridiculous! In my opinion, big business companies no longer have to be held accountable for producing bad products. Money was lost but will never again be spent on a GE product.

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen
We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

I purchased this dishwasher 2 months ago and am VERY disappointed with its performance. For an appliance that claims energy efficiency it is a total failure. My last dishwasher was a Kenmore that I had for 15 years. It outperformed this thing in every aspect. Since purchasing this dishwasher my water bill has gone up and my energy consumption has gone up. Why? Because I cannot put plates close together in this energy hog or they will not get clean. I have to do twice as many washings as I used to for the same results. This piece of junk has NO WASH PRESSURE! All the dishes must be pre-washed in the sink to assure satisfactory results AND I must use the hot water boost or they will not get clean. Energy wasted doing a pre-clean and energy wasted with hot water boost - bad combination! This product is taking me backwards in savings and environmental damage.

Purchased the cafe dishwasher in March. We are now on our second one as the first did not work and now this one does not work. It worked fine for the first couple of months and now it’s doing the same thing as the first one. Pump is on the fritz apparently. Truly disappointed. We owned the cafe dishwasher at our last house and loved it so we made sure that we purchased the same one when we bought our new house.

Just two years old, the interior paint in my GE Microwave JES1072SHSS started to peel. I called customer service, then emailed, learned that the paint peeling posed no health problem, then, as a gesture of goodwill, given a $75 rebate. I foolishly bought yet the same microwave today (and will return it) as I read here on this site: not only is it unsafe to use a microwave with peeling paint, GE had a class action suit over this very issue and never took responsibility for the health risks to loyal consumers. So it gets returned this week. But PLEASE BEWARE. Gosh, I really bought the goodwill - hook, line and sinker! Then I read all the complaints here - about peeling paint.

Nothing happened...never has. It just wont wash dishes. I have to prewash every item that is put into this piece of garbage. I bought it new and have used it for 3 years. It remained in the box the first 5 years I owned it and it honestly did me as much good in the box as it has since we installed it. It makes a good rinser but wont even wash off a lemon seed left in the bottom of a glass. This is such a joke. I would never buy another GE product. The refrigerator I bought at the same time, a side-by-side, the entire front door froze solid within 2 years and we had to buy a new one. Your company stinks. This is a rip off of my money. Refrigerators and dishwashers are not cheap. Model GSDL122F02BB is the dishwasher.

This review is related to the Monogram 2.2 Cu. Ft. Built-In Microwave Oven model #ZEB1227SLSS. The GE site: https://appliances.monogram.com/us/specs/ZEB1227SLSS indicates in two places that the built-in trim kit is included (and one place where it is listed as additional), yet GE has confirmed that in fact, the trim kit is an optional add-on with a $325 additional cost. Calls to GEs consumer line have been disappointing. Me: Your website says its included, and is in a section with other features that are in fact included but not additional fees; GE: We have confirmed that the trim kit costs extra. We have, in fact, purchased the oven and are awaiting its installation, and I have other experience with GE Monogram appliances so I expect this to operate well. But I cannot understand their reluctance to acknowledge this error on their site. Potential buyers, please beware of this issue.

We purchased 3 GE Profile Appliances when we remodeled our kitchen. It turns out that they are junk. The microwave and the refrigerator have had to be repaired several times and the dishwasher went downhill very fast and we had to replace it as it was not cleaning the dishes correctly. We now are living with a microwave that has peeling paint that I hope is not damaging our health that they would not do anything about. And a refrigerator that was repaired today at the cost of almost $400 and it still is not cooling down. So now I have to wait 48 hours for another service call. Dont buy GE unless you want Junk!

Figure it out GE! The sixth motor and mode selector for our washer has been reluctantly ordered by a tech this morning. The second motor was installed months after buying the brand new machine. Now, only two months since the fifth motor and mode selector was installed (Dec 2, 2011), the wiring harness is burnt up. The tech recommends replacement of the washer by GE, but only gets push-back from GE. This newest incident included a horrific smell of smoke. I do not trust this machine. I have a wife and child to protect. Think about it - do the math - add your costs for repeated repairs. You do not get to be a company the size of GE by not understanding simple economics. I just renovated my kitchen and purchased all new appliances. I had stopped buying anything GE because of the poor customer service and inferior appliances. After more than 25 years I thought I would give GE a second chance. What a mistake. My new microwave clunks every time the dish inside spins. GE sent out a repairman who said he fixed it. As soon as he walked out the door, I realized it was never fixed correctly. After waiting on hold with GE for over 45 minutes today, I was told that they will send another repairman out. If he finds it isnt repairable then he will send that info back to GE who will try and figure out how to fix it. If it cant be fixed then I will get a new microwave. It is a new microwave that was defective. I dont want this microwave because it has been defective since day one. I purchased my appliances from a local family owned store. GE has a policy that they (GE), are responsible for repairs for the first year and then the company I purchased the appliances from will do any future repairs. I will never buy another appliance from GE. They still have the worst customer service. Ridiculous how terribly they stand behind their appliances.

My parents owned the same GE microwave for over 25 years and had no problems with it. However, after theirs finally died 2-3 years ago, my parents made the mistake of purchasing another GE microwave. BIG MISTAKE!!! It wont turn off unless they unplugging it! They have already paid to have a tech come out to fix it but the problem started again 3 months later. I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. I said Do you mean your solution is that my parents who just spent several hundreds of dollars on your defective appliance should spend several more hundreds of dollars to purchase another one from GE? Why did their last one last over 25 years but this one only lasted around 2-3 years? Why dont you stand by your products? Their response was I can connect you to customer service for further help. I said I think Im going to stop wasting my time. and hung up on them. Dont trust the GE name, it doesnt mean what it used to!!!

I had trouble from the beginning; the dishes came out hazy. When I called GE, they said to use the recommended detergent; I did. The dishes came out hazy and smelled like detergent. They messed around long enough with that and getting someone out to fix the controls, which did not work properly, until enough time lapsed and I could not get a refund. The dishwasher turned itself on after a power outage. It was not running when the power went out and was running non-stop for God knows how long before it was noticed. This happened at Thanksgiving time, and they had service out at 6 weeks so I had to do Thanksgiving dishes by hand. After that, they postponed for another 2 weeks. I got a replacement dishwasher, thanks to the Home Depot Manager. The dishes come out stinky and hazy; sometimes, there is visible soap residue on the glassware. I even ran the dishes through a second no detergent cycle and still had residue on the dishes. The controls do not work. We have to turn the power on and close the door 3 or 4 times before it will come on. We are afraid to leave the circuit breaker on when we leave as we are unsure if it will start on its own like the first one did. It is also the worst designed layout for loading any dishes. This is totally unacceptable as soap residue causes intestinal difficulties, and you should not have to be afraid that your dishwasher will take on a life of its own and start. I highly recommend you do not waste your money on this dishwasher. GE has extremely poor customer support. Home Depot support was great. This makes two GE Profile Dishwasher in less than a year and two strike outs. They will not get the chance for a third out. We are getting a KitchenAid.

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... We bought a GE cafe series microwave (model/serial number: pnm919sf1ss/gd235771b) and 4 months later it ceased to function. We just had a remodel and for the first time had an expensive, over the oven microwave and were very excited. Unfortunately, unlike the 2 cheap microwaves weve purchased in the last 36 years, this one we had used for 3 months total, developed problems. The motor seemed to surge and then it would go off. Half an hour later it came back on but would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I called GE and they arranged for a local company to come take a look. They insisted on a 4 hour window and fortunately my husband is retired so he could be there. The repairman came and didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. He called his boss who talked him through diagnostics. After an hour he left, saying hed be back in a week with some new parts. Again we had to wait the 4 hour window. He came in and we were on pins and needles hoping he wouldnt scratch our cabinets as he took the unit down. He replaced the microwave component and when he left it worked. Two days later it again died. I called the repair people and they told me I had to call GE to get permission for another attempt at repair. I called GE and they said I had to call customer service to file a report. They told me I had to make an appointment for a technician to come out to see if the microwave could be repaired. Really??? The technician would try to repair it again or decide it couldnt be repaired and needed to be replaced. Like we have nothing better to do than wait for these repair people who have no clue as to how to repair the microwave. Every time they take down the microwave they risk ruining our cabinets. It was so unhelpful. I am really disappointed in GE customer service. We had to go out and buy a microwave to use while we were waiting for the repair. They obviously dont care that we cant use their expensive product. Our replacement microwave was $40 from Walmart and works beautifully. We finally complained to our WONDERFUL contractor who originally purchased the microwave for us and he is replacing it with a new one. He was appalled by GEs treatment. He takes note of appliances that are crap so he can warn customers. I thought I was buying from a reputable company and thinking we were getting a great and special product. Too bad.

I just wanted to make future purchasers aware of an issue I had with the oven light (GE over-the-range microwave model JVM1540DM5BB) underneath the microwave. It is much dimmer than my previous GE oven. I bought it from Lowes and after returning to the store to check a floor model, I discovered none of the models were plugged in so you cant check this out in the store. You only find out once the thing is installed. Lowes referred me to the manufacturer who then told me, after asking if my oven had 1 bulb or 2, the oven was working as designed. How they could definitively determine this over the phone was beyond me, but that was the extent of the assistance.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have
If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

I bought a microwave Model JVM316RF3SS on 6/12/16 from Best Buy. Here is the serial number GG242212A. This thing is tripping the circuit breaker, it is intermittent. I had been buying GE for the house because the stuff would last or they would stand behind their products. Looks like times have changed, I called yesterday to the customer service and the only thing I was offered was a song and dance. If you are to consider buying a GE product, think about it again. This microwave is only a year and a half, to have a tech service guy come out and look at it, it is was priced out at $97-108 for a visit and then parts and time will be added in additional to this visit price. They have priced this repair out to be cheaper to just replace it. My washer is making excessive pump motor bearing noise during the high spin cycle, this is two years old. Looks like GE is building crap. My background is a mechanical technician for over thirty years, building products that are to be used in the household should be built to last not become a disposable item like a cigarette lighter. Good job GE for joining the other substandard products being built. Must be outsourcing this to a foreign country like everything else. With the model and serial number GE you can call me if you have ANY questions.

GE Profile microwave Model: PEB7226SF1SS came as part of the builder installation. In the first year had issues with the microwave not starting intermittently and had to call GE support who sent in a technician who had to work on the door alignment and the switch was the problem which said to have fixed. About 2.5 year from purchase the heating seemed to be irregular which we did not take much notice and then it stopped working completely. We called GE support and did get the usual routine of the product being out of warranty and have to pay for the technician. While scheduling they realized they did not have a their own service person in the vicinity and was advised to reach out to local service person.Local technician diagnosed that the magnetron has gone bad and advised most manufacturers have 10 years warranty on the magnetron as they are supposed to last for a long time and I should reach out to GE. Having reached out to GE support again to our surprise were advised that unlike most manufacturers this product did not have 10 year magnetron warranty. Customer service, part service and customer relations kept redirecting to each other. GE does not provide an option to sell the replacement magnetron to the customer and now want their authorized center to be engaged and paid again to have the part ordered and installed. Disappointed with GE product quality, their stand on warranty compared to their competition and their service which has given me run around and no solution. I have written to them asking for solution which they havent responded yet.

It has a spacious interior and a large turntable. Also, the light stays on while cooking and comes on when the door is opened allowing one to watch and check on the cooking process even in a dim night light environment. GE Profile Microwave JVM1850DMCC - For the third time in 5.5 years, Ive experienced a magnetron failure in a GE Profile Microwave. The first failure was fixed under warranty. The second was so bad, the microwave had to be replaced, but it was no longer under warranty. I should have heeded the warning and gone to another brand, but on 12/31/10, I paid over $500 to replace the microwave with a new GE Profile to match the existing appliances. Apparently this was a big mistake as the magnetron has failed yet again. The microwave is on its own separate 20A circuit, so that shouldnt be an issue. It would seem, however, based on the number of complaints I see on this site, there is something inherently wrong with the manufacture of these microwaves, or more specifically the magnetrons. Im extremely disgusted at this point.

Its an older Hotpoint, and the layout is fairly roomy for a dishwasher of its size. The last apartment I was in had a comparably sized dishwasher that had too many shelving elements that got in the way of being able to just shove some dishes in there. Ive discovered with this dishwasher I need to stick to powdered detergent because the Hotpoint doesnt fully dissolve tablets. It does a fine job overall, though.

We purchased a GE Model JVM 3160DF3WW microwave oven in October 2016. The handle broke on this unit the first week after we bought it. It then worked fine for 10 months. In August 2017 it began throwing the circuit breaker erratically, then whenever it was turned on and has not worked for a full day since. It has been repaired by Appliance Solutions of Utah at least 6-7 times (by two different technicians) and still has not worked. At least $500 worth of new parts have been put into a $200 microwave by them. After numerous calls to GE, they have offered to send me a Goodwill Certificate for the amount of purchase after I buy another GE microwave. With our experience with this microwave (inoperable and unrepairable for 5 months) I dont intend to buy another GE microwave; especially considering the one available locally is the exact same model as the one we have, which was purchased, from Sears, for $191.42. Appliance Solutions of Utah has all the records of the NUMEROUS unsuccessful repair attempts made on the unit since August 2017. I requested a refund so that a different unit could be purchased. Over the course of the past 5 months I have talked to at least four different customer representatives, after multiple hours on hold. None could find any record of the previous discussions. GEs final suggested solution was to offer us a $100 Goodwill Certificate, the title in itself being ironic. So, after buying a microwave which was defective in the first place, spending $75 to have it installed, being without the use of the microwave for five months, and being told that, GE does not offer refunds, that is what the company feels they should do to rectify the situation. Setting aside an implied warranty of fitness, the fact that the repair agents sent out by GE could not repair the microwave after numerous attempts would seem sufficient grounds to fully refund the purchase price. That is the least a reputable company would be expected to have done. GEs position is that the store selling the microwave would be responsible for a refund; apparently ignoring the terms of the warranty. I this point, I am considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and a claim in small claims court for Breach of Warranty. Obviously, the microwave was never repaired per the terms of the warranty as it is still inoperable and has never worked since the initial report to GE. We will NEVER buy another GE product; Buyer beware!

This dryer replaced an eight year old Frigidaire Gallery Series. The new GE dryer is drying clothes much quicker. I have read some reviews complaining of the buzzer, but it is a nice feature to know when the cycle is about to complete. The nice thing about this dryer is that it has the right amount of dial drying features needed without a bunch of electronics that can typically cost a big service call if gone bad. Also the bottom rear of the dryer allowed enough room for the exhaust to go either left or right behind the dryer with it still sitting close to the back wall. I was lucky to find this as an open box item returned to the store because it was not a gas dryer for the first buyer. Photo shows exhaust located to outside wall.

Called out GE service tech to diagnose my dishwasher which was not draining after the wash cycle ended. Was told it was the control board and it would be best to buy a new dishwasher. Purchased a control board online (was a GE original part for a lot less than the GE price) but it did not solve the problem. After researching the problem online, I found out that it could be the drain valve. Sure enough, bought one for $14, installed it myself and the dishwasher works like new. Called GE Service to try and get a refund for the service visit ($89), was told that I had 30 days to have the tech come back out at no charge. Tech never advised me of this policy and GE will not refund my money.

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

Microwave lasted 6 months, very light duty, burnt metal smell. Purchased from Walmart, they told us to contact GE. All GE could offer is a Good Will certificate which means, we have to go buy another GE microwave up to $155 in value. We pay taxes, shipping etc. Not really a customer-centric return policy for a lousy designed product made from cheap components in Asia. These microwaves are a piece of junk. This isnt the only complaint about this model of microwave. Others are experiencing the same problem all within the past 6 months. From March 2018 thru August. Stay away from these microwaves.

Negative 5 stars. I purchased a GE over the range microwave oven, JVM2052SN1SS, just over a year ago and had a service call to address a lack of exhaust about a month after my purchase. In summary, the tech said it would not function as a dedicated exhaust hood and nothing can be done. 14 months later, the key pad began malfunctioning. Also, the moisture sensor that the operation manual stated will automatically start the exhaust fan, never worked and every time we cook, moisture would build up between the glass on the microwave door.I called GE Consumer Relation today and they will not address this issue free of charge. I will not purchase another GE product because GE dont stand behind their products.

6/11/2014. My microwave of 5 years the GE Adora starting to act strange. It would start to hum and the panel light would light up. The humming would only stop if I opened the door. Sometimes it would stop on its own. But today the humming kept continuing and I thought it was harmless until I heard a loud pop in the microwave and smelled something burning. The microwave glass turntable had exploded from intense heat inside the microwave. It was bizarre. Immediately I ran over and unplugged the microwave hood. In all the years and houses I own, this is the most expensive microwave I have purchased and it has lasted me the least amount of time! Microwaves shouldnt start on their own and thankfully I was home when it did. Otherwise my house would have burned down.

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

First of all, I wish I had seen this site over two years ago and I wouldnt have purchased a GE product. But, that is spilled milk. My two year old microwave, GE 1750 over the range, started running on its own. I disconnected it and called GE and asked if they had experienced any problems with their product and if this was a fire hazard, the nice young lady put me on hold and did research and stated that no reports of a fire hazard or running on its own. My husband encouraged me to do my own research and guess what? shocking, I was lied to! There are reported fires on the news and a law firm has a class action lawsuit against GE! I guess because this appliance wasnt in the nice young ladys moms house it wasnt of importance to inform me of the fire hazard? GE is off of my list of products I would buy!

I unplugged several times and it would start coming on by itself. I cannot believe they dont warranty their shoddy keyboards. I am very angry. I think they should stand by and replace their keyboards free of charge since they are fully aware they are making deficient product. This is scary to have an appliance just start beeping and say shorted... luckily I had my original wired in microwave replaced and put in a plug in or I would have flipped out if I could not unplug it. I got this along with the GE stove... so far the stove is not beeping...

Second GE Spacesaver Microwave - It is a total mystery, no clock, no light, no fan, no power. We replaced a GE Spacesaver that came with our house with a new GE Spacesaver Adora (Model DVM1850DM4WW). It has been in use for less than 2 years and has been used only a few times per week. I have a Sharp Carousel II that we use in our basement. It gets as much use as the new GE. It is 28 years old, and works fine every day. This is the second GE product and this one lasted less than 2 years. Ill never buy another GE product. I was trying to support an American company. Anyone know a good one that makes microwaves?

We wrote to GE regarding the issue with the dishwasher and, after some phone tag, a certified GE engineer came to the house, diagnosed the problem and ordered all the replacement parts. This morning, they came by to install and essentially rebuild the entire system with the exception of the stainless steel. Overall, we are very happy with the outcome. With all the negative issues GE experiences online with regard to the Cafe Series, I give them a solid 8 for responsiveness and taking care of the situation. Perhaps ours is a rarity, but if you approach them logically and with facts, they seem willing to work with the consumer. Heres hoping the system cleans better now too!

We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS
We purchased a new General Electric (GE) Adora microwave model DVM1850SM4SS from Home Depot for approximately $355.00 in 2010. It was manufactured in Malaysia and had been in use for 2 years and 9 months before the magnetron failed. I spoke with a GE Customer Care representative on two occasions, and she said that the best that GE could do was split the cost of parts and labor since the 1 year warranty had expired. We had not purchased the extended warranty believing at the time that a microwave generally lasts for many years, and GE had always made quality products and would stand behind them. I indicated that I wanted to have the problem properly diagnosed by the service rep recommended by GE before proceeding further. The 10-minute service call bill set us back approx. $100.00. It would cost at least another $170 to replace the magnetron if we used the service tech contracted by GE. For $270, I believe we could find a fairly nice new microwave. I looked at alternative options for repair or replacement, since I am rather partial to the looks of the over the range stainless steel Adora. The model we have is no longer manufactured, but GE now offers the 1.9 cu. ft. Adora that Home Depot sells for around $400.00. In my internet research, I noted several postings that indicated that due to the high voltage danger of the magnetron, only trained technicians should attempt repairs. After half a dozen calls, I fortunately learned of a Microwave Service Center close to our residence that could replace the magnetron. After taking it down from above the range, hauling it in for repair and paying the approx. $104.00 bill and hauling it back to our residence to mount on the wall, we have a microwave that should work for a while! Total cost including service call for diagnosis - $204.00. Considering that GE does not wish to stand behind the quality of their products, I would not be likely to purchase a GE product again.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.
