Their service department is absolutely terrible. The motherboard went out after only 8 months of use. They never notified the appliance repair company that the part was back ordered (I had to follow-up on that) and every step of the way I kept being told someone will follow-up in 2-3 business days. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call to check on the status of my claim EVERY time. The request for a replacement dishwasher after two weeks was denied because the part was going to be available in another week, but then I wouldnt receive the part for a minimum of another week after that. When I asked to speak to a superior she refused and told me no one was available. After demanding to speak to one I was told they would contact me in ANOTHER 2-3 business days (well see if that ever happens). This is (still going on) an absolutely awful service experience. I dont care that the dishwasher broke, I care that theyve handled it so poorly.

I purchased this product in June 2011 for a summer weekend getaway home. I used it 5 times during that summer. The following summer I didnt use it at all. Summer 2013, I used it and everything seemed fine. That night I heard something and the microwave turned on by itself! Thank goodness I was at the house. I cannot believe this unit has not been recalled yet, as I see other consumers are complaining about the same thing. I keep the unit unplugged all the time. What recourse do I have as a consumer? I have my bill of sale and paid good money for this unit.

I thought that making a purchase of GE products would be a positive experience especially with GE Customer service - should they be needed for resolution of any complaints. Wow... was I wrong! I purchased a GE Microwave (junk), a GE refrigerator (junk & previously submitted a review), a GE Stove (no problem - so far) & a GE Dishwasher (junk) & this review is based on this product. All of the aforementioned GE products were purchased at the same time. The dishwasher began to leak & malfunction. I called GE & they put me through the paces - the beginning of another terrible experience. I was directed by GE & RC Willey to Consumer Electronics who send out a repairman who proceeded to rip me off for 165.00 for a part that didnt work! C.E. denied sending a serviceman to service the dishwasher! I returned to GE for help in getting my dishwasher back in service. The ONLY solution that they offered me was a replacement that I had to purchase! Bottom line the experience cost me close to 675.00!! The Original GE Dishwasher cost me 1,000.00!! GE refused to take the dishwasher back or even give me any type of credit for what I have. What I have now is another GE piece of junk that I had to pay full price for - $550.00 + tax, etc... The washer runs forever - does a terrible job in washing & rinsing & leaves a film & a white powder-like film on the glasses. Ive changed detergents in an effort to get a decent wash out of it & that hasnt worked. I am so sorry that I spent so much money for GEs Top of the Line appliances only to end up frustrated with GE Junk & a Customer Service Department that was just as good as their product. I would NEVER purchase or even think of purchasing another GE product!!! My advice to anyone considering purchasing ANY GE Product is Dont Do It.

I have a GE microwave oven. The paint inside the door is peeling off and has been for quite some time but I never got around to calling them. I recently decided to purchase a new microwave and use my old one downstairs. I called GE to ask them about this problem as I didnt want to have this same issue with my new microwave. GE told me they would do nothing to help me fix the problem and I need to stop using it because it is a safety hazard. I told them the microwave still worked fine and if I need to stop using it, does GE offer any compensation for something that is obviously a defect. I was told, no, GE will do nothing. I told them Id even be happy with some touch up paint but the lady was so rude, she would just sit there and not say anything until Id ask, Are you still there? Granted my microwave is several years old but because of this door defect, Im being told basically I use it anymore even though it still works. I need to just throw it away. I have a new GE microwave on order but thanks to their horrible customer service will be cancelling that order and buying another brand. I also will not ever purchase another GE product. I told them this and they said, fine. Obviously they dont give a crap about their customers.

I bought one of the microwave ovens with two metal shelves. I found that the shelf in the middle of the oven was in the way and I removed it years ago, but left the top shelf in the unit. The other day, while cooking in the microwave it started to spark at the point where the shelf sat on a small clip. The inside of the oven is ruined. Why would anyone put metal shelves inside a microwave? Im just lucky that I was nearby and able to stop the fire before it destroyed my kitchen.

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

Its been a decent dishwasher. Usually residue left on something. Even with rinsing. And weve tried all brands of detergent. Rinse, China, speed cycle, normal, pots/pans and anti-bacteria cycles. 9 hour delay and extra hot wash and heat dry settings. It works for our family. A load every 2 days or so. Its almond/bone colour. The hoses are flimsy. They seem like they could leak at any moment. Not sure Id buy another GE.

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

GE GDF520PGDWW 24 white, full console dishwasher - Energy Star. I have had this dishwasher model since December 2014 and it has not drained consistently since the beginning either during the wash cycle or rinse cycle. GE has sent three different repair companies to replace the pump, the control panel, and ultimately the entire dishwasher, yet even the new dishwasher still does not drain consistently. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it doesnt. The GE-certified repairman was again here this morning and is again ordering a new pump. Counting the original pump, the previously replaced pump and the pump in the new unit, this would be the fourth pump. I tried to suggest the problem may not be the pump, but the repairman could not think of another possible issue. I do not recommend purchasing this dishwasher.

I have had this GE microwave for over a year now and have not had a problem with it. It has a variety of settings and it doesnt quit if something causes a spark/feedback, like a tiny piece of foil. It has a spacious interior and a large turntable. Also, the light stays on while cooking and comes on when the door is opened allowing one to watch and check on the cooking process even in a dim night light environment. Mid-morning munchies without having to turn a bright light on. I have tried other GE products and was disappointed with their performance. This GE microwave has worked well and I have not had any problems with it.

In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

I never imagined that a microwave in my new home would be rendered useless after 2.5 years. Like many of you, my control panel stopped working and the floor of the oven was extremely hot to touch. Heres the weird part. You can hit the number for timed cook, but youd have to let it heat the entire time. If you open the door, you cannot restart it. You have to unplug it to reset. This dryer replaced an eight year old Frigidaire Gallery Series. The new GE dryer is drying clothes much quicker. I have read some reviews complaining of the buzzer, but it is a nice feature to know when the cycle is about to complete. The nice thing about this dryer is that it has the right amount of dial drying features needed without a bunch of electronics that can typically cost a big service call if gone bad. Also the bottom rear of the dryer allowed enough room for the exhaust to go either left or right behind the dryer with it still sitting close to the back wall. I was lucky to find this as an open box item returned to the store because it was not a gas dryer for the first buyer. Photo shows exhaust located to outside wall.

When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

After having my Cafe Stovetop for about a year and a half, there was a electrical component malfunction. During this, smoke came out of the stovetop and it smelled of electrical burning. I sent a complaint to GE since several components were damaged. Knowing that the warranty was only for 1 year, there would be nothing they could do except sell me the parts.

4th service call for a piece of ** over the range microwave that keeps breaking. The service is a joke too. The sent some moron to come take a look at the microwave after I placed this latest service call. He came and without diagnosing, he ordered a few parts and scheduled a follow-up for today. He called this morning to reconfirm the appointment (which was already confirmed 2 times previously and this reconfirmation has never taken place previously) and I missed his call. When I called him back short whIle later, his voicemail directed me to call the 800 #. After a 35 min hold with them, they said since I didnt pick up the phone in the morning, the appointment was canceled. What???? It states nowhere that theyll call you to reconfirm an ALREADY SCHEDULED AND CONFIRMED appointment and that if you miss the call, they cancel the appointment. Next service call is a week from now, which makes it 3 weeks without a microwave. I hope they rot in hell.

I bought a GE Adora dishwasher from Home Depot. There is nothing technically wrong with it - in other words - it is not malfunctioning. It is just that its normal operation is AWFUL, in my opinion. The PROS: it is very quiet. The CONS: it does not clean your dishes! And since this is the primary function of a dishwasher - I would say it is a complete failure. Originally, I had hard water, and I thought that was probably the issue. I purchased a whole home Kinetico system, which remove almost all particulates from the water, and makes bottled-water-quality drinking water. (On a side-note, I would TOTALLY recommend the Kinetico system!) But even after having the water issues fixed, the dishwasher has NEVER worked properly. I have used every type of dishwasher detergent, including Cascade Complete & Platinum, Finish Ultra & Quantum Powerball... and I have also added rinse agents etc. Basically - whatever state your dishes are in when you put them IN the dishwasher, they will only be slightly improved when you remove them. Even if you SOAK the dishes first, they come out with all kinds of residue. It does an especially horrible job on glassware, but silverware is also terrible. And I have to re-wash by hand every coffee cup that comes out. I truly loathe this machine, and will replace as soon as I do enough research about a better brand & model.

We purchased our Adora over-the-stove microwave oven from Home Depot. The Adora brand is made exclusively for Home Depot and were sold on its special functions and value. Well now, 3 years later, this exclusive models glass fogs up when we use it. There are only 2 of us living at home. We use it maybe 4 or 5 times a day. A microwaves typical lifetime is 9 to 10 years. Also, by the way, when we turn on the fan to highest, it sounds like an express train hurtling through our kitchen. Our dog had a heart attack and died the first day we operated it. No he didnt. We dont even have a dog. But you get the picture.

If you plan to use your dishes for food or drink or if your pets eat food from bowls, dont buy a GE dishwasher if you expect items to get clean. Seems entirely incapable of producing grit-free clean dishes. Is particularly noticeable on the glasses. And I clean the filters all the time (manual recommends periodically) and I am taking a break from cleaning said filters to tell the world that GE Dishwashers are junk.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

One of the most disgusting situations I have ever been in. I purchased a brand new home with all new GE appliances. I have since learned that a technician was sent out twice prior to our walk-through because the superintendent noticed the dishwasher wasnt working properly. I registered all my appliances online. The first time I used the dishwasher, it flooded the kitchen floor, causing the builder to have to repair baseboard and drywall. A technician came out and repaired it. I used it an additional two times and each time I did, it flooded my kitchen and a repairman came out. After the second time, I contacted GE customer care to open a case. The third time, I requested a new dishwasher and the customer care agent, Stephanie, stated that my new dishwasher was a discontinued model and so she suggested one that was a slight upgrade. I agreed to this change and she informed it would take approximately 24 hours to have it approved. I have since talked to seven different people at GE customer care. This was started when a company called Barlows Distributing showed up unannounced at my front door approximately hours after my discussion with GE. They said they were here to install my dishwasher. I was rather shocked, said the timing was impressive, and let them in the door. After they had drained the water standing in the then current dishwasher, they started to put in a replacement. I looked at the box and realized they were placing the same model in. I told them that was unacceptable, because according to GE, I was being approved for a different dishwasher. I then told the tech to stop installing it and called GE. GE had no idea where this dishwasher had come from. Then an unavailable number showed up on my cell phone and when I answered it, the woman spoke my first name and started talking about my dishwasher, stating the builder had ordered a new one. I asked her who she was twice and she would only tell me GE customer care and not her name. I have since learned her name was Julianna. She said that I had to take this dishwasher or I wouldnt have one at all. I took this as a threat. After spending countless hours on the phone with GE opening a case and discussing the issues, picking out an acceptable replacement, I was then told the builder made this decision. Not only was I thrown from person to person over a discontinued model, I was threatened, and further was told by the superintendent of construction that once the dishwasher was installed and we closed on the house, I had to handle all problems through GE. I own the dishwasher, not the builder. I registered the warranty, and I handled it through the proper channels. I feel I need an explicit apology from GE. One of their arms doesnt know what the other arm is doing. During this entire time, I had little use of my right hand and seven fractured vertebrae (for which I am permanently disabled) and had to physically wash 10 boxes of dishes that had been packed up due to our move and stand while doing it. GE has caused me property damage, stress, and severe physical pain, yet threatens me and yanks me from person to person. This is my house, my dishwasher, and this matter should have been handled directly with me, instead of inviting someone into my house that I had no connection to or knowledge of. The really sad thing is that I just purchased and had installed a $6500 water softener and reverse osmosis system for the whole house, manufactured by guess who...GE.

Purchased a GE Profile (oven and microwave unit) for over $3000.00 seven years ago. GE Dishwasher model #GDF610PSJ5SS stopped working (would not even turn on) a little over 3 months. Because it was purchased over a year ago for a spec home we purchased, GE would not honor the warranty even though we had only purchased the home 3 months prior. I just found the site for the review on 5/17. Ive had two GE Cafe microwaves model CVM2072SM3SS purchased at the same time for the two kitchens in the house. The microwave in the in-law suite lasted one year and I replaced it with a very economical one which has been fine for 3 years. The electrician could not repair it. The microwave in the main kitchen is 5 years old but it stopped working (same issue of frozen panel) after 4 years. In Nov. 2016, during Thanksgiving weekend, it froze and stopped working. I looked on YouTube and we cleaned the terminals in the panel using alcohol. That worked for 2 months. When it stopped again I tried the same remedy but it did not work. The panel lights up, but it will not respond to any commands. After 7 months of it being inoperable, I decided to either fix or replace it (while using a way cheaper GE from a friend). This is an abysmally poorly engineered VERY expensive microwave. The LED panel is a disgrace! Do not buy CAFE microwaves. Im out $1500+ (for two) plus the replacements, the aggravation, the ugly looking counter with the loaner from my friend. I am ready to bite the bullet and buy a microwave that fits the style of my kitchen. It wont be a CAFE! Although it is a set... Enough is enough. I give up.

I may bring it to a higher level just because I am so pissed off that no one was informed about this issue, and something very bad could have or still can happen to someone because they are not getting the information they need! I also bought a stove as well as the dishwasher. We Told them with great concern to put a extra warranty on the more expensive item, which was the dish washer... more could go wrong. We all agreed, including sales person. Day before the first year, the dish washer was not draining good. They said the warranty was running out. I told them, I had got extra yr warranty. The robot voice said it might be over. The repairman came in, and said the same thing. The repairman replaced everything in the dishwasher. It took him 3 visits. He got it working. He claimed there was an extra orange ball in the part and that why it didnt drain well.I started using it for 2 weeks and it stop draining completely. When I bought it the salesperson said, See I added the extra warranty on. But unbeknownst to me, she put it on the stove... How the heck am I supposed to know she did it wrong. I call the company and they said, Look at your receipt. And sure enough, it was on the stove. Looking at it and how the salesperson made it sound, it was understood by all that the warranty was on and I had an extra yr on the dishwasher... I looked at the receipt. Had a list of what I bought the warranty and we were good to go. Everything was replaced in it, everything. It was a mechanical issue and yet here it sits not working and I havent even paid for it. I am disabled and was give a lemon. I would never recommend a GE anything. This was a first... I usually buy Whirlpool and never ever had a problem... Theyre selling lemons and they know it.

We got the GE cafe series appliances with our house. We just completed 16 months in our new house and the microwave stopped working. We had to call the GE cafe person to troubleshoot the problem. He charged us $80 (without even touching the microwave) and said we will have to spend $450 more to fix it. This is such a horrible customer experience. I had a $40 microwave in my old apartment which lasted for 4 years without a single problem. I am definitely not paying $450 for a useless microwave. But now I am worried about remaining appliances I have from GE. I understand that you would say you cant do anything as the appliances are not in warranty anymore. But if you really care about your customers, you should start looking into this and fix it. I am very very disappointed and I am not letting this go. July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

Excellent. The dishwasher cleans dirty dishes and dries them as I expect. We use all the features periodically, usually the RINSE & Normal wash daily. We rarely use the China setting, but we do use the pots and pans and hygienic features as well. We also occasionally use the delayed start feature. Our dishwasher is a decent size four our family for daily use and for large get-togethers. Our house came with a WHITE dishwasher, which were not totally fond of as a personal preference, BUT, its LOOK and design are fine by our standards. We have had a problem with the door catching on the screw that holds the dishwasher in the cabinet. Seems like a simple fix, but it hasnt been. We were super excited to get this GE Profile Cafe dishwasher. Minus the brand, it was the exact design/style as the one my dad has which we love! First issue, dont have a name of a dish liquid if you cant use all of them. Cascade apparently makes different detergent styles for the smart dispense. Dishes were ridiculously dirty and the horrible thing is I couldnt find an answer why on GEs site, I had to go to a handyman site. That was about a month and a half ago. Today, I did the dishes and, of course, let it do its thing. I always have the heated dry on by the way. Well, dinner came and I grabbed some dishes out which were screaming hot and I had to use an oven mitt. I didnt think anything of it because sometimes Im a sissy about that. Well, its now 3 hrs later and I get up to the smell of burning plastic. My first thought was that the sippy cup straw fell on the heating unit. I did not, however, expect to open it and see the Tupperware melting, the silverware rack melting and the water bar to be melting to the heating unit and it being so hot that I have to use an oven mitt just to touch the freaking rack. Oh! And by the way, we bought this off Craigslist last year and it was brand new. It still had the casing around it from the store.

I have had my GE microwave for over 6 years and the paint is flaking off the inside of the microwave, causing a health and fire hazard. Paint chips in the food and bare metal exposed can cause arching which in turn can be a potential fire hazard. After researching online I have found that this is not a uncommon problem with GE microwaves. Some have had this issue after 1 year. I contacted GE and told them of the problem and that I felt this was a manufactures defect.GE does not feel that this is a defect problem but advised me not to use the microwave any longer. Their solution was to discard this microwave and purchase a new one. I paid almost $300.00 for the original one plus $20.00 for a mounting kit. I was told that GE would offer me a discount on a new one from $339.93 to $319.93 total. This is not much of a offer considering this should be a obvious manufacturers defect. By ordering another I will have the same problem again. GE needs to stand by their products and admit fault.

This usually occurs after the warranty expires. Cost to repair can exceed the original cost of the unit. Mine failed in warranty but it took them 10 weeks to fix it. The reason it took so long is that GEs repair protocol calls replacing the whole door (which has NO electrical parts in it) instead of replacing just the latch assembly because the labor cost to replace the latch itself exceeds the cost of a complete door assembly. Door assemblies were on back-order because of the high failure rate.

Slightly more than one year, I purchased a model GLD4404RCC dishwasher about which I have made complaints in the past, concerning poor washing performance and which you chose to ignore beyond attempting to tell me how to use it. Now, this Chinese-made piece of junk has begun to give different problems. Upon completion of the wash cycle, it starts to make a lot of noise and will not shut down. I must do this manually. Guess what? It has waited less than two weeks after the purchase date to do this, meaning it is out of warranty. We have just purchased a new home and will be needing new appliances such as dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and a water heater. It will not be GE. I shall never purchase any more of GE products as the whole company stinks.

I purchased a GE Dishwasher about two and a half years ago. Recently, we found there was a small leak in the solenoid motor which caused damage to my floor. I looked up for the model number and it is not on the recall list. Now, I have to call the repairman. This should have never happened in two years. What is GE going to do about this?

Just bought a Monogram dishwasher one week ago, and the front sound barrier fell off. The service man came out, took a look, and said it was not a big deal. I questioned him why it fell off within such a short period. He stated that it was GEs policy: to make Monogram quieter than competitors, they put in sound barrier in front. However, it fell off often. Since it does not affect how the dishwasher work, GE does not believe that it is a big deal. Therefore, no need for quality control, and he will use new glue to glue it back. No guarantee that it will not fall off later... What is GE stand on the engineering products any more? Will never buy any more GE product...

My GE Profile Dishwasher is a plain Jane without the bells and whistles, yet is a trusted, working appliance. Honestly, the only beef I have with this model is that plastic articles do not dry completely unless placing the controls on Heated Dry, and leaving the dishes in the dishwasher for the entire drying cycle. I have had my kids place some dishes in the dishwasher, caked in day old food. I left the plates in the dishwasher, hoping to teach my kids a lesson about rinsing off their dishes before placing them in. Imagine my surprise when after running the dishwasher through its normal cycle, the plates came out spotlessly clean! Impressive!

A week ago I placed a microwave dish in the microwave oven. The second rack was in place with the small microwave dish on it. When it started I noted flames from the rack bracket. The plastic on the rack had melted. I removed the rack and have not replaced it. This morning I place a microwavable cup in to reheat the coffee, and once again flame erupted.I am calling GE but wanted to let people know of this problem. I have had this appliance for a month. GE sent out a repairman. I overheard him tell someone that when there was cavity they considered it not repairable. Whomever he spoke with asked for pictures and from that deemed it repairable. I would not let them repair it as a fire with flames hot enough to melt the bracket and burning an opening in the inside shell is not something I want in my home. I received no satisfaction from GE as they just follow the Party line, I doubt any of them would want to take my repaired oven in their homes. I will dispose of it and purchase a new one from a different company.

We purchased this dishwasher for our rental. The last dishwasher was over 30 years old and still working but the racks were coming apart so we opted for a new one from Home Depot. A year later our tenants called saying when they used the dishwasher it rained in the basement. Our maintenance man called and said the dishwasher melted a hole in the right side about 1.5 inches by a 1/4 inch. Midway to the heater element. He did a temp fix with silicone.I called GE Recall number and was told it was not on a recall list. I called customer service and was told they would waive the service call. I explained this was a FIRE HAZARD. They insisted all they could do is send their tech out for repair. Since I paid about 280 dollars for the dishwasher I decide a service call would probably run near that and told them NO! I am now sending all information to consumer affairs department with my STATE REPRESENTATIVE. I also am putting the fire hazard info out there on facebook and twitter. I am waiting for someone else to say they also had a fire hazard. This should be on a recall list!

We purchased our GE dishwasher in September 2014. In December 2014 the dishwasher started to make a loud grinding noise. I contacted GE and a repair man was sent promptly to do the repair. Upon arrival and looking at the dishwasher he advised me that it was the motor. He then stated that he would order the parts and also stated that he did not have the correct tool to remove the motor and has not had one since they have changed the manufacturing process. At this time I am still waiting for the parts and I have contacted GE numerous times to find that the parts were either on back order or had been shipped out. I am still waiting for the parts and the repairs to be done. The estimated date of the parts to arrive is January 29th. At that time I will have been without a dishwasher for a month that I have just purchased.

The GE repairman just left. It wasnt the coil that was flaking, it was the eco dish washing detergent I was using. The detergent wasnt dissolving, it was clogging up the jets and burning on the coil. What I was seeing was black burned detergent flakes. The repairman gave me citric acid to use to clean out the clogs (for free). He also didnt charge me for the visit, even though it was my fault. He also told me to get the water in my sink really hot before I start the dishwasher. I am very impressed with his service!

The new home that we purchased had the above named dishwasher (GDT655SSJSS). When I run the dishwasher there is a very high frequency whine throughout the cycle - the only time it stops is when it is changing cycles. I have contacted GE Customer service 3 times... The first time I was told to add a quart of water to the bottom of the dishwasher and that should fix the problem. Tried that - still high frequency whine. Second contact - no response. Third contact - today- called customer service after my negative appliance review was rejected by GE (buyer beware of all those positive reviews) and was told that this noise is normal. Totally Unacceptable - since the sound hurts my ears and causes a headache - I have to listen to 111 minutes of this noise (except when the washer pauses to change cycles). This is the very worst dishwasher I have ever owned and even though it is only 2 months old I will be replacing it - and it wont be a GE Dishwasher.

I have used 4 dishwashers of various brands in my house over the past 30 years. The current one is a new GE dishwasher (Model No: GDT695SSJ0SS), which is by far the worst. The dishwasher never dry, no matter which cycle I choose. When it is done (green light on) water still flowing down everywhere inside - on the door, on dishes, at the bottom. When I called GE customer service it said I have to use rinse agent in order to get it dry. Of course that means we have to constantly buy that additional product (made by a GE subsidiary?).For those who dont remember this, our old dishwashers did not required the use of additional product and still dried dishes perfectly. GE is apparently producing products of lower quality, yet the repairman sent by GE claimed that this model is their best ever. Really? Is this company so arrogant that it pays no attention to the convenience of its customers? Since the repairman found no defect with the machine (even though it does not dry), GE refused to accept either a replacement or a return. From design to functions to price this is indeed a lousy machine. Ill never purchase another GE product again.

We purchased a GE Profile Microwave with our GE Profile range in 2010. In 2016 we noticed an area on the bottom of the back wall that was peeling. It is in an area where nothing is rubbing or touching it. After taking photos and contacting GE customer service I was offered a discount on a replacement microwave. I expressed my concern that a new microwave might do the same thing--peel. I was told that the newer microwaves have a moisture resistant paint. The area that has peeled is much larger now than is shown in the attached photo taken in 2016. I expected my oven to last longer than 6 years; its a GE Profile and we take excellent care of our appliances.

We purchased a complete kitchen of Profile appliances. Everything is fine except dishwasher! The first one didnt clean food and left scum on everything... The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. My old dishwasher, Kenmore, left my dishes sparkling... no matter what was on them, plus I didnt have to run my kitchen sink to get hot water first! We bought 3 GE Profile appliances in 2005 when we renovated our kitchen. We have not had much problem with the gas oven/range/stove. We have, however, had nothing but problems with the microwave (which I submitted a separate review for) and the dishwasher. Recently, a friend made some suggestions regarding the dishwasher. I then went online and watched some tutorials on troubleshooting my dishwasher problems. I tried all the new suggestions and the dishwasher worked OK the one or two times after that and then back to all the old problems: 1. We have to scour every dish until its nearly clean before loading (even though the instructions specifically stated no pre-rinsing necessary). 2. I am not sure the soap cup opens. The soap is always left caked in the cup resulting in running the dishwasher twice. We have tried all kinds of various soaps and they all do the same thing. The eco-friendly soaps are the worst. We strive to be eco-friendly, but how can we be if we are using the harshest soaps possible AND running our dishwasher twice?! Not to mention the pre-rinse scour and running water until it is 120 degrees prior to running.3. The dishwasher also leaks and is very noisy.I have read some other reviews on this product and realize our dishes are not always dry at the end. This is a non-issue for me. I dont care so much if the dishes are dry. I do prefer for them to be clean. Dishes are a task I do not prefer to do. It would be nice to have a functioning helper. I am grateful the thing hasnt caught on fire. I saw that this dishwasher currently sells for $800-$1,500. I cannot believe it. I wouldnt spend $100 on this piece of junk.

GE Stainless Steel Profile Dishwasher - My dishwasher is about 5 years old.
GE Stainless Steel Profile Dishwasher - My dishwasher is about 5 years old. Two years ago, we noticed that the gaskets, both around the tub and on the bottom of the door, were becoming gummy and rippling. We were hoping to make it another couple of years before buying a new dishwasher, but a couple of week ago, the top arm fell off because the gasket was so degraded. We ordered the appropriate parts and were only able to replace the top-arm gasket and the tub gasket. We had to call an authorized GE repairman, specifically RC Appliance in Sparks, NV. When he tried to get the gasket out, his hands turned black from the rubber. After about an hour of trying to get the new gasket installed, he had to use his pliers to crimp the gasket in place leaving large dents along the bottom edge of the door. He said the factory had crimped the old gasket in place at the factory from the other side. I am extremely unhappy about the workmanship and the fact that the gaskets did not last a reasonable time. I dont want to seek an attorney, but would rather GE contact me to discuss what must be done.

In 2012 we purchased a GE microwave for around $500.00. It lasted with moderate use until 2017 at which point, it almost burned our house down due to malfunctions of internal parts. After many hours on the phone and several repair visits, GE agreed to replace it. The replacement lasted until March of 2020, at which point it started tripping our breaker. I took a half day off of work waiting on a repair technician. The technician came out and replaced a switch. Two hours after he left, the microwave stopped working. I called GE back and was given another repair appointment, again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and stated that the door of the microwave was causing it not to work and he ordered a new door.I called GE and was given another repair appointment. Again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. He arrived and replaced the door. That evening, we noticed that the internal light would not shut off when we closed the microwave door. Two days later the microwave started producing a burning smell whenever we used it.I went out and purchased a $50.00 microwave from Walmart. This experience has been beyond what is reasonable for a customer to experience. I have received numerous automated emails from GEs consumer relations department from a GE consumer relations employee that is allegedly been responsible for my case. I have never actually spoken to this person even though I was advised numerous times that she would be calling me. As of this point, I plan on never purchasing another GE product nor can I in good conscience recommend to anybody that would inquire, purchasing a GE product. The customer service I received has been bad to say the least and the product even worse.
