I purchased a GE dishwasher model GSD2100v50BB on June 6, 2016. By March 9, 2017, a switch broke which caused the machine to be stuck in the wash cycle for over an hour before it was discovered. This caused soapy water to flow out of the machine all over the floor. It was fixed under warranty but by June 29, 2017 it broke again. It is no longer under warranty and it will cost $70 to 100 to fix it again. It was purchased at Home Depot and they state it is to be handled by GE. GE states that since a year has elapsed, they are not responsible for the repair.

Touchpad for CVM2072SM2SS stopped working. This touchpad has been creating issues for the last couple of years. Few reconnection of wires got it working for the last few times and now it is completely broke. GE is not ready to help with fixing the issue. It wants to sell me another microwave CVM1750SHSS which seems to have similar issues (also the plastic handle for those microwaves seems to fall apart due to heat). In fact, the reviews for the whole range of GE Cafe series seems to be pretty bad. GE is not owning up the design issues. Too bad!

We have a GE PROFILE dishwasher that has served us well for several years. Tonight, however, while it was doing the dishes the main circuit board caught fire. After turning the power off and trying to blow out the flame, we opened the door cover to find the main circuit board still smoldering. One of the relays on the circuit board had caught fire and started to burn through the circuit board melting it, the plastic cover and the wire harnesses. We were lucky to be home and awake when this happened and were able to take care of it. If we had been gone or asleep we probably would have lost our home!

My 3 year old $600 GE micro caught on fire with nothing it. I set the timer on my top of the line GE microwave for a reminder. Nothing in the micro, cooking nothing! When I came back it was on fire! Melted the inside. If I would not of been there it would of burnt my house down! The only way to shut it off and put out the fire was to turn off the power to it. The next day as soon as I turned the power on my GE microwave started on fire again!!! This must be happing to many people and needs to be addressed by GE! This company needs to be held accountable for burning houses down!

This is my third microwave since 7/13. The first day I used it did not turn off, the fan and light stayed on so I returned it to H&R Greg drove to their warehouse and bought a new one. Six months later, doing the same thing, would start up by itself, very dangerous and not shut off. Had three different repairs on it three days from work!!! They came out a week ago, installed a brand new one, same model. Next day, doing same thing, started by itself. Now have to plug and unplug it for use. Now they are sending out a service call to look at it for what I told them whats wrong same as the others. The only good thing about the people at the service center have been great and the service people too. I just want this fixed. Model # jvm1750dp2WW Spacesaver.

I own a GE turntable microwave. Ive had it for over 10 years and it is still going strong. I purchased it because of the capacity, the color, the wattage and features. The wattage in this microwave is amazing. It doesnt take long for things to heat up. I highly recommend this brand because it is so durable and the wattage it has. The features on the microwave are easy to access and has more features than I normally use. To have this microwave for so long and its still works just like I purchased it yesterday. Great job GE for providing an excellent product.

I purchased the GE Cafe dishwasher in March 2010. Starting in January 2012, some of the keypad options stopped working. Then in April 2012, the keypad stopped working completely and I could no longer get it to turn on. I did call GE for repair. When the repair person was out to fix it, they said that this model has a design flaw. It was originally designed to sit 1 below the countertop so that the heat could release without shorting out the keypad. However, that would require a person to somehow raise their entire counter or fit the dishwasher below the floor somehow. GE was aware of the problem but decided to ignore the problem. That means that even though my keypad was replaced, the same problem will occur again and again no matter how many times the keypad is replaced. I paid over $1400 for this model, and the labor charges alone cost me $200 for the repair. I think it is absolutely despicable that such a large company has allowed a high-priced, defective product to go out into the market, knowing that a major malfunction will occur out of warranty in such a short period of time.

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

SOLVED: PDW9980L00SS GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. The rubberized sump of this dishwasher suffers from chemical deterioration. In our case the deterioration allowed waste water to bypass a check valve and return into the wash water. Dishes dont come out clean and the spray wands get plugged up with bits of waste. The solution is to replace the sump. If youre handy with tools its an easy DIY job which requires pulling out the dishwasher and turning it on its side for access to the sump. Lots of videos online re the process and for safety start by shutting off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher power. For our model the new sump part number WG01L00289 replaces the original WD18X10026. Dishes & glasses now sparkle. Hope this helps as there was lots of frustration on this end before replacing the sump seen in the photo.

Our GE microwave stopped working after about 7 months of use. Ive never had a microwave break down on me before. Ive owned other brands which Ive used for years, actually lasted over 10 years. The only reason we purchased the GE microwave was because our old microwave was too big in size. I called GE for warranty service and it was very much of a hassle just to make the appointment. I had to call several times because a customer service representative misinformed me. It took a couple days just to set up a service appointment.Ive told the representative that the microwave stopped working and will not power back on again. The representative told me that the fuse probably went out. Something must have blown out. Finally, the appointment was made for about a week later, which was the earliest time available. It is so inconvenient not to have a working microwave even just for a day. Anyhow, the service tech came about two hours late. The scheduled time was for 8am-12 pm. He showed up close to 2pm. A family member was waiting at home all day because of this. Then the service tech told us that he needs to order a part for the microwave and that he will return a week later to repair the microwave.A week later, he didnt show up. No one even called. So I called back GE and found out that the appointment has been postponed! So now, we have been without a microwave for about three weeks. I think this is ridiculous. Im pretty sure that this is a common problem with GE microwaves and they already had an idea why the microwave wasnt working. It doesnt power-up! Now they are telling me that they dont have the part/s in stock? If I had known that we had to invest so much time and go through so much hassle from the get-go, I would have just purchased a new microwave three weeks ago. GE should pay me for all the time Ive wasted!

We moved into a new home in June of 2011 with the appliances already included. Ours came equipped with a GE, over-the-range microwave, model JVM1540DP1WW, manufactured in Malaysia, in April of 2010. Within several months, the revolving platter began to make a bumping noise while turning and then it eventually quit turning altogether. Five service calls later, we had the platter motor replaced, circuit board and four fan motors (apparently the platter has voltage supplied from that fan to make it run) and it still didnt work.It was taken back to the shop and eventually the problem was traced to a loose wire on a terminal connector. After a month of operation, it is again beginning to make the bumping noise while the platter turns. To top it off, Consumer Reports (the March issue) deals with problematic microwaves, especially the GE model and the unexpected fires that can occur. In addition, they can be susceptible to (not always however and only on certain models) wireless transmissions which could potentially cause them to start on their own. I know for a fact that it knocks off my XM Satellite Radio when it is running. Bottom line...its history and will be replaced with a check rated appliance before I too have a major problem.

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I could buy an inexpensive stove for that. I have purposely used ge in lower letters because that is the way I feel about their appliances and their service.

I know this commonplace complaint, like thousands before me, will head straight into the wind because the world just works in this way: technical support and repairs works as a profit center for a corporation. My GE Profile microwave abruptly failed out of warranty after years of use. The cause was due to a wire burning up inside that had not been loosely connected, said the GE technician, so this was an issue of inadequate quality--not bad enough to cause the microwave to fail quickly but enough to cause failure over time. After taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet, it only took the technician about 5-8 seconds to find and diagnose the problem, several minutes to get the right part (a wire) from the truck, and a couple of minutes to fix it. The labor charge was $121 for about 7 minutes of repair work, to be liberal with time. (This charge is separate from the charge to come to our home and diagnose the problem.) This prorates to over $1,000/hour for a basic wiring change, which I think is exorbitant. I understand that the technician is a highly trained individual, but this is already reflected in the high labor rate.According to GE, the cost to replace the built-in microwave, which came with a matching stainless steel frame would be $550 if we wanted the new microwave to match the frame at least (but not necessarily the oven, stove, etc.). This is the kind of cost you dont think about when you buy a new home built with matching appliances--well, I didnt. Companies like GE can rationalize all they want about all the overhead associated with servicing a repair call. I can certainly grant them some leeway, but in the end, charging an extra 8 times more an already high labor rate given the time needed to fix the problem is simply price gouging a consumer who has no good recourse. (This is why I pretty much avoid repairing anything, except for my car. Its almost never worth it.)I recently had an experience with an experienced plumber charging an hourly rate of $150, prorated by and rounded up to half-hour increments of work, regardless of difficulty of work. Repairing an appliance should work the same way, and my GE bill would have been halved. Because of such profiteering, I will not consider purchasing a GE appliance in the future. I pray that this microwave doesnt break down again in the coming years due to some other problem. It would be a lot less expensive to just buy a non-matching portable microwave then for $100-$150 than to keep up appearances. To be fair, the woman who fielded my service call was courteous and empathetic. Because the microwave apparently had an electrical burning problem, she previously waived the diagnosis fee. Otherwise, my simple repair would have run several hundred dollars, more than the cost of the microwave. However, she was unwilling to reduce the labor charge, so based on how strongly I felt ripped off, I give GE a star rating overall.

We upgraded our appliance package when we bought our village builder home 8 years ago. All GE Monogram appliances have rusted and now need replaced. New liners needed in oven which was so rusted we couldnt get the screws out to replace the originals. Was told by GE customer service rust to be expected when cooking. It creates steam and food particles can cause scratching!!! Maybe it should be steam proof especially a microwave. Even the door on this is rusted! Why the shelf ends in a freezer are rusted not sure on that one! Will NEVER buy this brand again and shame on them my upgraded appliances dont even make it to 10 yrs. A disgrace. I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

The GE dishwasher was in place in the home that we bought in 2017. I like the stainless steel outer color, the noise level is minimal, which I like. The options for different cleaning levels are great. It does a good job at cleaning our dishes. My only negative comment is that it was new when the house was built in 2017. For the past three months it has been stopping repeatedly, multiple times, mid-cycle so that you have to repulse the start button multiple times to finish the cycle. I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

I moved in to a newly-built home in Nov. 2010. Shortly after, my GE Profile microwave seemingly caught fire. We called for service and were offered a repair free of charge. We declined a repair and did receive a brand new appliance of the same model. Around June 2012, the exact same fire happened to the new one. I must admit that it took me about 9 months to report the problem because my family had been devastated with a lengthy illness and passing of my mother. While going through our trial, I shut down my mothers apartment and just started to use her countertop microwave. Realizing that I needed to address the problem with my microwave, I called and explained this to GE service. I guess that the representative was just doing her job and stated the year warranty spiel and had no concern of this being my second microwave within a two and a half year span and also the length of time that it had not been working. I was immediately given the cost for a serviceman to come out plus I was told that I would have to pay for any parts. When I went to Home Depot to price the microwave; the cost for my model was $278. I therefore decided. Why bother to have a defected model repaired? Who needs the aggravation? I will just eat my loss and buy another microwave. Be assured that it will not be a GE. I will never again buy a General Electric product.

I purchased this dishwasher 2 months ago and am VERY disappointed with its performance. For an appliance that claims energy efficiency it is a total failure. My last dishwasher was a Kenmore that I had for 15 years. It outperformed this thing in every aspect. Since purchasing this dishwasher my water bill has gone up and my energy consumption has gone up. Why? Because I cannot put plates close together in this energy hog or they will not get clean. I have to do twice as many washings as I used to for the same results. This piece of junk has NO WASH PRESSURE! All the dishes must be pre-washed in the sink to assure satisfactory results AND I must use the hot water boost or they will not get clean. Energy wasted doing a pre-clean and energy wasted with hot water boost - bad combination! This product is taking me backwards in savings and environmental damage.

We had some oil spill in the oven, which proceeded to catch fire. It was a huge fire that burned for a while. But all it took was a little oven cleaner, and it looks like nothing ever happened! The coating and materials inside of the oven are completely fine. It also still works perfectly! I'm amazed. 10/10 stars.

I love the way the dishwasher is so quiet and cleans the dishes well. However, they are ALWAYS WET. A repairman came and told me that I could not expect the dishes to be dry on the light cycle with the POWER DRY. He told me I have to wash on the normal cycle. I did that and they are still wet. He came back out again and basically had no viable explanation. I have to have a dish towel in hand to dry the dishes as they come out of the dishwasher. I paid a lot of money for what I consider the piece of junk that is sitting in my kitchen. I will never again buy a GE PRODUCT.

We built our house and purchased a NEW close out Advantium Microwave. Due to delays we were not able to get into the house and use the appliance until literally 1 month after the WTY expired. The KEYPAD is shorted. There are a number of these complaints for this microwave - so we arranged for service. $375 dollars later - it was ALMOST working and the repair service determined that a new keyboard would be needed. 5 mos later we are kindly asked to take a refund of our repair bill and forget the whole thing - the part is not available! REALLY?! $2000 for a microwave, and you dont even support it?! Last - LAST time I put trust in GE. SCB2000FBB 03

I wear earplugs in my house to avoid the noise! Secondly, the dishwasher started leaking and the warranty company is refusing to honor the warranty so Ive been hand washing dishes since August! I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

I purchased the GE Caf Advantium Oven Model No. CSA1201RSS. This is supposed to be one of their top of the line Microwave/Speedcookers and at $699.00 it should be. Within the first few months with little use, it made a loud buzzing sound and it went dead as if the breaker tripped. It was under warranty and a GE tech came out and repaired it free. The problem was the Magnetron, a key component inside the unit. I was shocked to see that the Magnetron was made by LG. I bought a GE because I did not want an LG, but I ended up with a GE with LG parts. The unit worked for several months and now it will not heat anything. I have only had this unit for 13 or 14 months and it is broken for the second time. I called the 1-800-GE-CARES to learn that they do anything but care. They told me it was out of warranty, but the parts are covered. It will cost me $99.99 for the tech to come out plus the cost of labor to repair the unit, which varies based on what needs to be repaired. This is unacceptable. There is clearly something wrong with this unit. I have had microwaves last 10+ years with no issues, and one of them was a GE! I thought GE would stand behind their products better, especially since they can see I had prior problems with this unit. This is a $699.00 tin can.

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. I had Thebes first washer for at least 10 years, maybe a little more. It only needed one part replaced, that was the capacitor, otherwise it was still usable. I am not an in depth handy person but I will read and do my research and found directions doable. Additionally, I found the service help desk very informative and that’s how I discovered it was the capacitor that had gone bad after washing clothes for so many years, and believe me, I did a lot of cycles with my kids and family. I feel I got more than my money's worth. Lastly, I’m still using their products to this day. I may not have the frequency because we are empty nesters but I still believe in their products,

I am a licensed master plumber. I do a fair share of high end kitchen installs, I noticed that in the last 5 years that all GE dishwashers I installed had a whole lot of extra parts to be installed by the installer. For example. Today I uncrated and tried to roll a GE dishwasher I got 6 and a drip tray fell out. Then when I went to install the dishwasher in the cabinet I had to install 4 different rubber flanges. When I went to push the dishwasher in the flanges came loose and hindered the install. The the insulation jacket kept binding up. The last 10 of these GE dishwashers I have installed the dishwasher appears to be racked or not square. I had to tell the General Contractor that I dont want to install the GE dishwashers any more. Way too much trouble. I have much better luck and ease of installation with Miele and Bosch. The GE dishwasher are very frustrated to install. Bob Licensed Master Plumber since 1982Richmond VA

I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

Dont buy one. I bought two last year. The first one completely died before the 60 days were up. I took it back to Sams club and bought another. The tag inside says it was made February 2011, so its only a year and a half old. Under the carousel, the paint is peeling big time. I wrote GE repeatedly, asking if it was still ok to use it. After ignoring me for quite some time, I got this reply. In the notice, they told me to get Sams club to replace the defective and apparently unusable product they are selling knowing it is defective. I love the part where you cant cook something with too much liquid in it. Who does that when they microwave?Heres what they said: Thank you for contacting GE regarding your microwaves and the paint peeling issue. I did some research on it and found that it a common issue among all brands. Excessive heating of un-covered liquids can create a high amount of condensation that the inside paint is not meant to withstand. Minor chips to the coating on the microwaves interior cavity will not affect the products performance. However, if the coating is actively flaking or peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable), discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. GE does not have an approved method of repair, and the microwave is not repairable. Please return to Sams club for an exchange, if you are still within the one year warranty. If Sams is refusing to accept the return, contact the Sams Club Support Team at 1-877-885-2787. GE will then reimburse Sams club.

GE microwave model JES1344ES. This is a stainless steel with black accent 1.34 cubic foot microwave oven. It looks great. The micro is heavy for its size. The stainless steel is brushed and low luster finish. The door handle is chrome as is some of the other accent pieces. The push button panel is easy to read and has a large knob for making manual time adjustments. The light inside is very bright. There is a rotating platter in the oven compartment that is not knocked off of its guide rollers very easy. The push button panel is a glossy black material that is easy to attract fingerprints. The preset times that are programmed in the microwave is the only part of the product that could be an issue. For example the popcorn button when used has burnt all of the different brands of microwave popcorn that we have tried. It is set about 30 seconds too long. There is no way to adjust the preset time that I can figure out. We set the time with the large knob manually and the popcorn comes out just fine. The preset times for the Auto Defrost are also a bit off. They are not long enough. We also have a Subzero freezer set at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit so that may be too cold for the defrost presets. Overall the microwave is great except for the preset times that Ive mentioned. We use it daily and have done so for five years. It still looks excellent inside and out.

The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

My GE Profile dishwasher is now 4 years old and Ive put up with it not cleaning well. For the last 3 years, I get a cloudy gray film over the dishes and finally figured out what is happening!! There is a gray rubber/plastic border around the bottom screen piece that has all the holes in it and covers most of the bottom of the dishwasher. I gently scraped with my finger and lo and behold its like gray putty!! So, the whole border of this gray rubber/plastic is disintegrating!! I had a 4 year warranty from Sears and they sent out a repairman. He is just going to order that whole screen part and replace it. He scraped the rubber and it came off for him too!! He said he never saw that before. He said it is probably the fault of my detergent which comes from health food stores and NOT the Cascade that they promote. Anyway, now I know where the gray film is coming from... Weve probably been consuming this for 4 years, a little at a time (NOT GOOD)!!! Im not thrilled with Cascade either!! We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitch
We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

I might as well use the dishwasher as a drying rack. We had a service person come out before the warranty expired. We have used all of the proper cleaning recommendations and setting per the service person. Not even 2 years later, the dishwasher started leaking and ruining our hardwoods. The dishwasher was quiet but then started making a horrible noise and a burning smell emanated when door was opened. Unfortunately all of our kitchen appliances are GE. I replaced a GE JEM25 microwave when the Magnetron gave up with a PEM31DWW unit. Within 14 months the paint on the ceiling of the oven started flaking off. Contacted GE and they offered to sell me another oven for $166. After reading all the negative reviews on this site, I dont think I will ever buy another GE product.

I purchased a this GE Model CDT845P2NS1 on Oct 2, 2019 and the unit was received Oct 23, 2019. I installed the unit approx. 4 days after receipt and dishwasher functioned well until November 10th, 2020 when the unit failed to pump out the water. I contacted GE Service (MabeService) and was advised that the unit was not under warranty and as such I should contact a GE Canada authorized service centre. After several attempts to get someone to come to our location at Sharbot Lake we got hold of Capital Appliance Repair in Ottawa. They were not able to send a technician until November 18th. After diagnosing the problem the technician advised we needed a main control board and would have to order one and then come back to do the install of the control board. It is now February 21st 3 months after the visit and I’m being told that the part is backordered and they have no idea when it will become available. I’m extremely unhappy when you spend over $7,000.00 for a GE CAFÉ gas stove, Microwave, Refrigerator and dishwasher to find out you cannot get parts in a timely manner. As a customer of GE Canada I have had no help is solving my problem. It is not acceptable to have a 1 year old dishwasher that has failed, much less waiting for repair that has taken over 90 days to get repaired. DO NOT BUY!

We lost our old refrigerator to a lightning strike and had to get a new one ASAP, and it had to be counter depth, a great ice maker, side by side, and not be a SS finish. My wife and I hated our old SS one but liked everything else on the old unit so we went looking for a new one that met these requirements. What a chore, this was not an easy unit to find as most everything now has a bottom type freezer. This was defiantly out of the question.

I love GE's washing machines front loader and it's excellent. I've never had to have them come out and four years to fix anything on it. Cleans very well and washes the clothes outstanding and it cleans up very easily when you clean it through the cycle that comes with the machine. It's relatively easy to understand as far as the button setup on there. I also liked that you get the echo warm in the Echo cold features along with the regular warm and cold. I did purchase the block that the time that I got it which helped out a lot is I'm 5 foot 10 and it's the perfect height. It helps getting stains out really easy as I have a nice here to play softball. I would definitely recommend this washer to anybody and everybody. I even wash my huge comforter for my bed in it and it washes it great every time.

Our GE microwave/convection oven model number JES1290SK01 is making grinding noises and has caught fire once on the side panel. We have owned this microwave for only 4 years. It was a terrible investment. No wonder Obummer had to bail them out. That is the quality the unions are currently producing. It’s sad really...

I bought a brand new GE Spacesaver OTR mount Microwave (Model # jnm1851dmbb) and had installed in my new home by the appliance shop where I purchased it in November, 2010. I am a widow and I use the microwave maybe 3-4 times per week, and take very good care of it. I went to steam some fresh veggies this evening and the whole unit just went dead. There’s no fan, light, or keypad. It is plugged in and I did not blow a fuse or switch. I checked them all. It’s just plain broken after less than 2 years of very light use. It’s a piece of junk! I’ll be buying another brand this time. I will never buy a GE again! It’s a junk, junk and junk!

I never imagined that a microwave in my new home would be rendered useless
I never imagined that a microwave in my new home would be rendered useless after 2.5 years. Like many of you, my control panel stopped working and the floor of the oven was extremely hot to touch. Heres the weird part. You can hit the number for timed cook, but youd have to let it heat the entire time. If you open the door, you cannot restart it. You have to unplug it to reset. Of course, I called GE customer service, who gave me the same spiel about $80 service call, plus repair and parts. Thanks to your candid remarks, I will not be purchasing another GE appliance.

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

We renovated our kitchen with all new GE Profile appliances in 2017 before moving into our new house in 2018. Nov 1, 2018 our GE Profile stopped working and showed a leak message. We called GE who referred us to A&E Factory Service. The repairman arrived Nov 6 and proceeded to not be able to pulled the dishwasher out and tell me the list of things he wont do because of policy. Without inspecting the dishwasher but looking at his computer with the list of things that could be wrong, he said he ordered two parts and would return on Nov 23. Nov 23 came and no repairman. Calls were placed to GE Parts and Service who expressed their disappointment over the no show then proceeded to say that parts would not arrive before Nov 30 and that one of the parts was on back order. Once the parts came then another repair appt could be made. I will have been without a dishwasher for over a month with no alternative recourse. Service response and A&E Factory Service is less than poor.

We purchased our GE dishwasher in September 2014. In December 2014 the dishwasher started to make a loud grinding noise. I contacted GE and a repair man was sent promptly to do the repair. Upon arrival and looking at the dishwasher he advised me that it was the motor. He then stated that he would order the parts and also stated that he did not have the correct tool to remove the motor and has not had one since they have changed the manufacturing process. At this time I am still waiting for the parts and I have contacted GE numerous times to find that the parts were either on back order or had been shipped out. I am still waiting for the parts and the repairs to be done. The estimated date of the parts to arrive is January 29th. At that time I will have been without a dishwasher for a month that I have just purchased.

Unit is only 7 years old and not greatly used (only two adults who dont use it much)… Purchased as part of package including GE refrigerator, range and dishwasher (already got rid of refrigerator, as parts kept breaking and unit had other chronic problems). I turned the microwave on to make popcorn - it immediately made a terrible noise and filled with smoke with an electrical smell. Unplugged the unit and contacted GE Repair. When I described what happened, I was transferred immediately to their safety unit because of the nature of the problem. A GE technician arrived today and almost immediately diagnosed the problem: a metal component that directs the waves of the microwave generation tube had burned out, and by federal regulation, he claimed, cannot be repaired - the whole appliance must be trashed and replaced. Once again, I have experienced GEs poorly engineered products that appear to be designed to fail in a relatively short time. Can you spell planned obsolescence? (No photo provided, as there is no external visual damage).

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

DO NOT BUY GE APPLIANCES. The quality is terrible even on an expensive dishwasher. I bought a $700 dishwasher in November 2016 and in April 2017 it was broken, parts not available, but after fighting with customer service, they sent me the parts at my house. No one is available to come over to install the parts, the parts are sitting at my table. I guess they want me to install them myself. I even had purchased a 5-year warranty. Customer service is non existence at General Electric. I know I will never purchase a GE product ever again.

GLDT696 series dishwasher - I have put up with my GE appliances and their problems for years, but now I will throw in the towel. Our Contractor appliances were replaced 5 years ago when remodeling the kitchen. Ten years of no problems with cheap stuff replaced with Stainless Steel GE ovens, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. I will only mention the dishwasher in this posting. Bottom line... Wish I went with another manufacturer. The washer has a gasket that loves to fall out of place creating leaks or floods. The pump has failed after the one year warranty. The control board has been replaced twice and today it looks like there will be a third one. That is if I am stupid enough to hold on to this piece of junk. If I buy another manufacturers steel front dishwasher it will not match the other appliances. At this point I dont care. Unlikely to ever buy a GE appliance again.

Model WES1130 GE Microwave - The entire interior of the microwave just started peeling off the coating/finish around 3 years after purchase. The turntable wheel guide path totally disintegrated the finish of the path. It still worked but was so unsightly and disgusting to look into the interior and possibly dangerous to eat anything that had been put inside to cook. I just got rid of it. I bought the Cafe dishwasher model #CDT855P2NS1, for $995, it arrived defective with the wrong size parts inside causing the door to not shut properly (as inspected by GE repairman). This was over 4 months ago. Since then I have been told to call every two weeks to see when a replacement model would be available in the warehouse (each of this calls required sitting on hold for over an hour). Despite having many of this model dishwasher for sale on the GE website, I have been told for over four months to call back in two weeks, because none are available at the warehouse and this is the only place you can source them from. Now I am being offered the price I paid for the dishwasher despite the exact replacement now costing $1,277, from the same place as the previous one was ordered from. This doesn’t include the $149 to install the new dishwasher to replace the defective one that was initially installed, which I am being told will not be reimbursed. I just want to warn everyone about not purchasing this product or expecting any support from GE.
