This is a work horse of a machine. I have been using it for 12+ years. Not my first choice, but it was here when I moved in. Still going strong. So why change now, when its doing its job. My first dishwasher choice would have been a Bosch, because they are so quiet.

Unfortunately, the GE dishwasher came standard in the new townhouse I bought. It is horrible! Within the first year it smelled like sulfur every time I turned it on. I tried cleaning it from top to bottom, but there is always grime after running it and a film on the dishes. Ive had dishwashers all my life and never experienced such a shoddy piece of **. I had many brands of dishwashers over the years, except for GE, and I dont remember having to take it apart and clean it once a week. If I dont clean it once a week it stinks!!! I couldnt stand the smell and finally called the GE repair expert. He knew less about the dishwasher than my cat. I could have purchased a new dishwasher for what I paid for the service call. And he talked to me like I was an idiot. DO NOT BUY A GE DISHWASHER or use their service. I wish I could give it minus 5 stars.

We purchased our Adora over-the-stove microwave oven from Home Depot. The Adora brand is made exclusively for Home Depot and were sold on its special functions and value. Well now, 3 years later, this exclusive models glass fogs up when we use it. There are only 2 of us living at home. We use it maybe 4 or 5 times a day. A microwaves typical lifetime is 9 to 10 years. Also, by the way, when we turn on the fan to highest, it sounds like an express train hurtling through our kitchen. Our dog had a heart attack and died the first day we operated it. No he didnt. We dont even have a dog. But you get the picture.

My GE dishwasher has clean all my dishes. Not leaving a run or mist on no dish. I can set the time on when I want my dishes washed. The programming is out of this world! The cost is a great easy and inexpensive cost. My wife was very happy with the purchase. The buttons are not too big. Its very digital timing.

I give it stars for value because an extra step is needed to set cooking time. Most microwaves do not require pressing a cook time key before selecting # of seconds. Other than that, microwave is first-rate and very dependable. We use it several times a day for 1.5 years now with no problems.

Microwave oven, model # WES1450DN1BB, manufacture date, April 2011 - Your customer service sucks! I called there 5 times today and was told my microwave oven has been recalled, yet no one knows! You dont have it listed on the recall or anything. Your Customer Advocate doesnt know its recalled but your Service Department knows and I was told by them that it says, Do not repair, return to the place of purchase. Yet, I called my place of purchase and they know nothing of it either, but are going to work with me the best they can! It was manufactured in April of 2011 and we bought it around July 2011 (we think it was around then). There are many complaints online about the same issues as we are having - paint all bubbled and peeled off the inside top, and smell of burning wires coming from under it! If something would have happened to someone in my family or to my home, you bet your ** I would have sued the pants off of your company! Someone needs to get their ** straight with what is going on in your company or you are going to have a lot of issues! I may bring it to a higher level just because I am so pissed off that no one was informed about this issue, and something very bad could have or still can happen to someone because they are not getting the information they need! Stop and think about it. Because of your companys lack of communication, someone could die! I am very pissed off!

I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

I have used 4 dishwashers of various brands in my house over the past 30 years. The current one is a new GE dishwasher (Model No: GDT695SSJ0SS), which is by far the worst. The dishwasher never dry, no matter which cycle I choose. When it is done (green light on) water still flowing down everywhere inside - on the door, on dishes, at the bottom. When I called GE customer service it said I have to use rinse agent in order to get it dry. Of course that means we have to constantly buy that additional product (made by a GE subsidiary?).For those who dont remember this, our old dishwashers did not required the use of additional product and still dried dishes perfectly. GE is apparently producing products of lower quality, yet the repairman sent by GE claimed that this model is their best ever. Really? Is this company so arrogant that it pays no attention to the convenience of its customers? Since the repairman found no defect with the machine (even though it does not dry), GE refused to accept either a replacement or a return. From design to functions to price this is indeed a lousy machine. Ill never purchase another GE product again.

First off: GE doesnt make some parts for this model anymore. The unit is large compared to many others; the upper tray provides adjustable height; one of the set of spikes in the upper tray rusted out because of inadequate plastic coating, and no replacement was available from GE; the control panel on the top edge of the door failed within warranty period and was replaced free; the holes in the rotating arms that spew water upwards onto the dishes must be cleaned with tweezers to remove bits of paper from labels. Those are all the negatives. The positives are that it is very quiet; a cycle takes about an hour; it cleans dishes well so long as they are not hidden from the water jets; pre-rinsing can help but is not necessary. I would buy it again.

The paint started peeling on the inside ceiling area of the microwave the end of the first year we bought it. I called GE and they claimed this was not harmful to the operation of the microwave. It was disgusting to have paint chips falling onto food we were cooking. Now almost all the paint is gone and there is some rust too. How can this be for cooking and what if some of the paint is accidentally ingested? If GE did not replace or offer to repair the problem. Stay away from GE microwaves is my advice.

No instructions on how to reset the dishwasher anywhere. American business at its best. Never GE again!

A few years ago, I purchased a brand new GE microwave oven. A week ago the microwave oven stopped working. I contacted an Appliance Repair company for repair. When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. All they care about is taking your $$$.

We bought a microwave oven (CVM1790SS2SS, ZA301193K) for our new house some 4.5 yers ago. The flimsy, but very shiny, metal cover on the door handle split and the resulting sharp, but hidden, edge cut my finger. We covered it up with scotch tape, and ordered a replacement for the handle. We paid GE $102 (other folk sell it for $76, as we later discovered). There were no useable installation instructions. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! He spent 2 hours to install the replacement part. The screws that came with it, were not quite right. Ill never buy another GE appliance in my life. The Item was ordered by Ellen ** (It was shipped on 1/17/2017).

We have the dishwasher, fridge and stove from the GE Cafe series. In the 2 years that we have had them, we have become pretty acquainted with the local repair people because there hasnt been one month when all three were working at the same time. The fridge had to be replaced (we lost over $1000 in just food) - the replacement fridge had to be repaired. The customer service is awful. They are just trained NOT to be helpful. GE takes no responsibility for putting out such low quality, high priced appliances. I will never buy GE again and hopefully these reviews can save you the same grief and hopefully money (we have to pay for service repairs). Buy anything but GE, one star - is one too many!

GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

We purchased our new GE Over-the-Range Microwave (model HVM1750DPWW, 1.7 cu. ft.) for $269.00 in February of 2012 and in August of 2013 it started to malfunction. Specifically the microwave would start on its own whenever we would OPEN the door. Now the microwave does not work at all (with the door closed or open). Based on the feedback that I have read in some of the posts on this site, I will replace the microwave since the maker can no longer be trusted to manufacture units that are robust and safe. But what manufacturer can be trusted at this point? It is my understanding that all microwaves (from all major companies) are currently made overseas with poor materials and highly suspect safety and quality standards. (Note - previous GE Microwave [same type - over the range] lasted for 14 years.) Thanks to Consumer Affairs for allowing us to post unfavorable reviews.

So I straight up asked if they were just trying to run me out of warranty & then drop me. I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. The dishwasher had a fire in the wiring harness for the energy save drying switch. The dishwasher was under warranty and was repaired by GE without issue, and they told me it was safe. About 2 years later, GE recalled the dishwasher for having started numerous fires throughout the country. As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

Explain that its obviously cheaper to drop ship me a new unit (and I will waive the new frame) than all of the parts, frame and a second call to fix the unit. Their answer, buy a new unit at a discount or simply go without a microwave for 3 months. Add me to the list of victims trying to warn others to NEVER buy a GE product.

In early 2017, we bought all of our GE Profile appliances including the dishwasher through our builder as part of building a new home. Love the slate exterior. Love the whisper quiet of the appliance. I do NOT like the way it cleans my dishes. Most of the time, the soap isnt even distributed. The soap compartment is opened but most of the soap is still there. Ive followed the instructions on loading to ensure my dishes arent blocking the water that is supposed to spray up and help distribute soap. Even though I select the dry function, my dishes are sopping wet when the cycle is finished. We have to catch the end of cycle and crack the dishwasher open to let the steam escape in order to cut down on the wet. Even then, we still have to dry dishes to put them up. We have a water softener and have verified its working so I know thats not causing these issues. I would not recommend this dishwasher.

We have had GE come out to our house 8 times and even our same repairman admits this product is a lemon, but he is not allowed to say it to get us a new one. The company wont let him! Our dishwasher never has cleaned dishes properly and it has leaked over 10 times! It floods our kitchen, hallway, and basement. We had to rip the carpet off our stairs and now the water is ruining the drywall! We just video recorded it leaking and running under our refrigerator, down the basement stairs, and soaking our storage! We are currently calling our lawyer to get something done about this! GE never stands by their appliances!

Slightly more than one year, I purchased a model GLD4404RCC dishwasher about which I have made complaints in the past, concerning poor washing performance and which you chose to ignore beyond attempting to tell me how to use it. Now, this Chinese-made piece of junk has begun to give different problems. Upon completion of the wash cycle, it starts to make a lot of noise and will not shut down. I must do this manually. Guess what? It has waited less than two weeks after the purchase date to do this, meaning it is out of warranty. We have just purchased a new home and will be needing new appliances such as dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and a water heater. It will not be GE. I shall never purchase any more of GE products as the whole company stinks.

I purchased the dishwasher in August. In September, two months later, it would not drain. GE sent a service tech out under warranty who found food particles stuck in the drain pump, removed them, put the dishwasher back together and went on his way. Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher cant handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher. The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived. GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GEs Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!

GE wants to sell me a new door for over $200. It just seems a little underhanded that we buy high-end appliances thinking we are getting a good product. Since it was a built in so had not many options for replacement and went for GE again. This time the new microwave had a faulty door switch. It wasnt opening up every time. Scheduled an appointment and no one showed up - waiting for the whole day. I called the customer service 3 times and learnt that they had ordered some parts and were waiting for that. No one called and conveyed me this. I learnt myself after waiting from 8 am to 5 pm and upon calling them. They rescheduled me for a week later so that the parts can arrive. BIG MISTAKE!!! It wont turn off unless they unplugging it! They have already paid to have a tech come out to fix it but the problem started again 3 months later. I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. I said Do you mean your solution is that my parents who just spent several hundreds of dollars on your defective appliance should spend several more hundreds of dollars to purchase another one from GE? Why did their last one last over 25 years but this one only lasted around 2-3 years? Why dont you stand by your products? Their response was I can connect you to customer service for further help. Unit is only 7 years old and not greatly used (only two adults who dont use it much)… Purchased as part of package including GE refrigerator, range and dishwasher (already got rid of refrigerator, as parts kept breaking and unit had other chronic problems). I turned the microwave on to make popcorn - it immediately made a terrible noise and filled with smoke with an electrical smell. Unplugged the unit and contacted GE Repair. When I described what happened, I was transferred immediately to their safety unit because of the nature of the problem. A GE technician arrived today and almost immediately diagnosed the problem: a metal component that directs the waves of the microwave generation tube had burned out, and by federal regulation, he claimed, cannot be repaired - the whole appliance must be trashed and replaced. Once again, I have experienced GEs poorly engineered products that appear to be designed to fail in a relatively short time. Can you spell planned obsolescence? We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

I purchased a full suite of GE Monogram Appliances about 5 years ago. All are fine except the microwave which was made in China. The back is rusting out, the inside is chipping at the door and moisture builds up in the door window. This progressive deterioration has taken place over the past 5 years. I paid $420 for the microwave plus $226 for the trim kit. Now, all GE wants to do is sell me a new unit and a new trim kit (will not fit old trim kit). I paid approximately $20,000 for the entire group. I bought GE because I trusted the name. Im stuck with GE if I want to match the remaining appliances. Purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM stainless steel dishwasher in December 2013. The dishwasher and install totaled $700, which for that price and with Maytags past reputation, I wrongly assumed that the dishwasher would last a long time. In May 2016, slightly over 2 years, the dishwasher started having issues with the control panel. The control lock would randomly activate. I would have to reset the circuit breaker daily, leaving it off for around 10 minutes. Even with trying to go through all the steps to resolve the issue, resetting it from the circuit breaker, sequence on the control panel, the dishwasher wouldnt work. I called Maytag and after 40 minutes on hold, they finally answered. They wanted $89 for a service call and for the $143 part, plus labor. Might as well just replace it with another brand like GE, or Samsung.

We purchased a GE microwave/convection oven which developed peeling on the inside top of the microwave. GE contacted me and offered a replacement ($300 toward a shelf model or prorate the microwave/oven). Why would we take $300 replacement when we paid nearly $3000 for this oven???? So we took the prorated one directly from GE. We felt confident that we would not have a repeat of the problem. The oven was manufactured in December 2012. After it was delivered, I noticed a rough area on the turntable; and after the oven began to peel AGAIN on the second oven, I believe that the rough area was due to a remanufactured part on the oven. Now we are stuck with another microwave/convection oven combo with the same issues as the first oven. I never used anything harsh to clean the oven and now this happens again. Why cannot this company manufacture an oven that will not have defects in it??? I am tired of peeling paint on a second oven when I have done nothing except pay them for 2 ovens. Why cannot they use stainless steel interiors, and this would stop the many complaints that people make about the product. I would NEVER again purchase another product from this company. The products I have purchased have been inferior. I paid for two microwave/convection ovens and still have one that is inferior!!!!

I have a 2011 GE Model # JES1456BJ05 microwave and it has been gently used and kept clean. Upon cleaning today I noticed that the top of the inside is blistering and peeling off. Surely this is not safe as it could fall into food, plus they should make them to stand heat, after all this is why they are made for heating things. I called GE who informed me that there is no recall on them so I am pretty much stuck to go out to buy a new one with no help from them. I now read that this has happened to people before. We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

GE GDF520PGDWW 24 white, full console dishwasher - Energy Star. I have had this dishwasher model since December 2014 and it has not drained consistently since the beginning either during the wash cycle or rinse cycle. GE has sent three different repair companies to replace the pump, the control panel, and ultimately the entire dishwasher, yet even the new dishwasher still does not drain consistently. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it doesnt. The GE-certified repairman was again here this morning and is again ordering a new pump. Counting the original pump, the previously replaced pump and the pump in the new unit, this would be the fourth pump. I tried to suggest the problem may not be the pump, but the repairman could not think of another possible issue. I do not recommend purchasing this dishwasher.

GE sent out a repairman. I overheard him tell someone that when there was cavity they considered it not repairable. Whomever he spoke with asked for pictures and from that deemed it repairable. I would not let them repair it as a fire with flames hot enough to melt the bracket and burning an opening in the inside shell is not something I want in my home. I have had it with GE! Only 18 months after install, my beautiful, stainless, three-rack, GE, top-dollar dishwasher will not turn on. Repair attempts have been futile. Tech said not to expect more than seven years service out of new appliances. Were tossing this junk and buying CHEAP replacements going forward since all we have to choose from is throw away products. OEMs like GE should realize they are shooting themselves in the foot with their planned obsolescence business plan.

Has anyone experienced a plastic burning smell when the dishes are drying?
Has anyone experienced a plastic burning smell when the dishes are drying? My dishwasher is 3 years old and I wash on Light cycle which is suppose to be 45 minutes long but goes for 85 minutes. Company said to turn off circuit breaker and turn back on and it should be fine, it isnt. Last two times I used the dishwasher it wouldnt completely shut down so I had to do it manually and before I did this I could smell a plastic burning smell but there was nothing on the elements. I called for a service call but they were shut down for 4 days.

One day after the new GE dishwasher was installed, I came home to find water raining down into my basement. My kitchen floor was destroyed. The installers came out a week later to look at it. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

I own a GE over the stove Microwave that spontaneously turned on while I was sleeping. Once the unit was running for a bit, it caught on fire. It melted thru the glass plate before I woke up and was able to remove power from the unit and stop the fire. To GEs credit, they did send a tech out to our place. The tech never did anything to find out what caused the problem. Instead he was just looking to see if the unit was salvageable. He condemned the unit, and GEs solution was a $25 rebate on the next one of their products I would purchase. The liability GE would have been up for if I were not home would have been astronomical. This appliance put my property and the life of my family and neighbors in danger. GEs inaction on this problem shows that they have no concern for the safety of the consumers that use their products. The HR response has been appalling.

Bought a PDT845SSJ2SS in June. Two months later, it has a leak. Good news, has a leak detector which shuts down the machine. Bad news is that it leaks and the leak detector worked! Called GE. We dont have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days. Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday. Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. Shes going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowes and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1. Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that. I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I dont want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE released the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! I assume partial responsibility for this goat rope - I faithfully refer to Consumer Reports when purchasing appliances and electronics. I suggest you do the same... you will find GE listed AFTER BOSCH, KITCHENAID, KENMORE and others. Also, realize the GE brand is now a CHINESE company. Caveat Emptor!

Our GE microwave/convection oven model number JES1290SK01 is making grinding noises and has caught fire once on the side panel. We have owned this microwave for only 4 years. It was a terrible investment. No wonder Obummer had to bail them out. That is the quality the unions are currently producing. It’s sad really...

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

2years and 2 months GE Model JVM1540 microwave purchased at Sams quit heating. Everything works other than it does not microwave, GE customer no-service says the part magna something is covered for 5 years, however the labor is not. I offered their customer no-service dept. a deal. If it was my fault the MW broke I will pay the entire cost to fix it but if it was a defective part, they have to pay the entire bill including labor ( which is the right thing to do). They declined to do the right thing.

I owned a previous GE dishwasher 4 years ago and would give it excellent ratings. I bought a newer top of the line version when I purchased a new home. It simply fails to clean dishes. Wet food that any dishwasher would remove, remained on the dishes. The drying cycle never dried the dishes. We have to hand wash the dishes now and have stopped using the dishwasher after 3 days of ownership because of health hazard. I called Lowes about this within days of the install. Lowes sent out the installer who claimed the machine was installed properly. Then Lowes scheduled a GE repairman to come to the home. We waited all day for him to arrive for a morning appointment. He never came. Lowes stepped up and is replacing the dishwasher with a non-GE product. I would not touch a GE product again given the lack of service and commitment to their product. I feel confident with Lowes, but not with GE - their ethics from engineering, manufacturing and servicing are very suspect with us.

I bought a GE dishwasher that has a plastic tub. The tub smells. I asked GE to replace it, they wont because they say it operates correctly. I cannot imagine why any manufacturer would use a product in a dishwasher that STINKS. The plastic even has a warning for California consumers, that its a cancer-causing substance. Im glad I dont live in California, so it will never cause cancer here....

I am a licensed master plumber. I do a fair share of high end kitchen installs, I noticed that in the last 5 years that all GE dishwashers I installed had a whole lot of extra parts to be installed by the installer. For example. Today I uncrated and tried to roll a GE dishwasher I got 6 and a drip tray fell out. Then when I went to install the dishwasher in the cabinet I had to install 4 different rubber flanges. When I went to push the dishwasher in the flanges came loose and hindered the install. The the insulation jacket kept binding up. The last 10 of these GE dishwashers I have installed the dishwasher appears to be racked or not square. I had to tell the General Contractor that I dont want to install the GE dishwashers any more. Way too much trouble. I have much better luck and ease of installation with Miele and Bosch. The GE dishwasher are very frustrated to install. Bob Licensed Master Plumber since 1982Richmond VA

This dryer replaced an eight year old Frigidaire Gallery Series. The new GE dryer is drying clothes much quicker. I have read some reviews complaining of the buzzer, but it is a nice feature to know when the cycle is about to complete. The nice thing about this dryer is that it has the right amount of dial drying features needed without a bunch of electronics that can typically cost a big service call if gone bad. Also the bottom rear of the dryer allowed enough room for the exhaust to go either left or right behind the dryer with it still sitting close to the back wall. I was lucky to find this as an open box item returned to the store because it was not a gas dryer for the first buyer. Photo shows exhaust located to outside wall.

I just renovated my kitchen and purchased all new appliances. I had stopped buying anything GE because of the poor customer service and inferior appliances. After more than 25 years I thought I would give GE a second chance. What a mistake. My new microwave clunks every time the dish inside spins. GE sent out a repairman who said he fixed it. As soon as he walked out the door, I realized it was never fixed correctly. After waiting on hold with GE for over 45 minutes today, I was told that they will send another repairman out. If he finds it isnt repairable then he will send that info back to GE who will try and figure out how to fix it. If it cant be fixed then I will get a new microwave. It is a new microwave that was defective. I dont want this microwave because it has been defective since day one. I purchased my appliances from a local family owned store. GE has a policy that they (GE), are responsible for repairs for the first year and then the company I purchased the appliances from will do any future repairs. I will never buy another appliance from GE. They still have the worst customer service. Ridiculous how terribly they stand behind their appliances.

Bought all new General Electric Appliances in 2002. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, and Dryer replaced after 6 years. Handle on Advantium Microwave replaced twice at the cost of $50 for handle made of plastic? Today our house smelled like burning plastic which upon inspecting dishwasher, found the heating element was COOKING everything in dishwasher. Got so hot that is melted the silverware bin and anything plastic in dishwasher. Glad we were home to unplug unit which we could not reset the controller on door of unit. Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of this incident and is VERY common complaint with this Manufacturer. I have been on hold for 30 minutes with GE consumer relations phone number 1-800-386-1215. Was told by automatic system wait time was going to be 5 minutes. Figured I would write complaint on here as well while holding...READ CONSUMER REPORTS and stay away for General Electric Products!!! Model Number is PDWF480P00SS. Serial number is GS734641B.

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

I have a GE microwave oven. The paint inside the door is peeling off and has been for quite some time but I never got around to calling them. I recently decided to purchase a new microwave and use my old one downstairs. I called GE to ask them about this problem as I didnt want to have this same issue with my new microwave. GE told me they would do nothing to help me fix the problem and I need to stop using it because it is a safety hazard. I told them the microwave still worked fine and if I need to stop using it, does GE offer any compensation for something that is obviously a defect. I was told, no, GE will do nothing. I told them Id even be happy with some touch up paint but the lady was so rude, she would just sit there and not say anything until Id ask, Are you still there? Granted my microwave is several years old but because of this door defect, Im being told basically I use it anymore even though it still works. I need to just throw it away. I have a new GE microwave on order but thanks to their horrible customer service will be cancelling that order and buying another brand. I also will not ever purchase another GE product. I told them this and they said, fine. Obviously they dont give a crap about their customers.

We bought a brand new GE kitchen. We put all GE in the new kitchen. The hood/microwave/convection oven broke in 9 months. We had service out, and they wanted the same amount we paid for it to repair it. My husband is an engineer and he got it to limp along. Then in September, it broke and cracked up. All the control panel cracked and broke. It does not work. We called GE. They said to get a replacement. We went to Sears and bought a similar unit as the original has been discontinued. We were assured of a credit towards the new one. A credit would not be issued. Gary ** has continually called my home but not my cell. He reached me today in school, a Special Ed behavioral unit, and started yelling at me over the phone. He said that I did not provide serial numbers. I have many times. He said there is no record of my complaint. I have called, emailed and written at least 3 times providing all information. We just want a credit for the original unit. We have provided sales slips, etc. Please help.

GE microwave model JES1344ES. This is a stainless steel with black accent 1.34 cubic foot microwave oven. It looks great. The micro is heavy for its size. The stainless steel is brushed and low luster finish. The door handle is chrome as is some of the other accent pieces. The push button panel is easy to read and has a large knob for making manual time adjustments. The light inside is very bright. There is a rotating platter in the oven compartment that is not knocked off of its guide rollers very easy. The push button panel is a glossy black material that is easy to attract fingerprints. The preset times that are programmed in the microwave is the only part of the product that could be an issue. For example the popcorn button when used has burnt all of the different brands of microwave popcorn that we have tried. It is set about 30 seconds too long. There is no way to adjust the preset time that I can figure out. We set the time with the large knob manually and the popcorn comes out just fine. The preset times for the Auto Defrost are also a bit off. They are not long enough. We also have a Subzero freezer set at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit so that may be too cold for the defrost presets. Overall the microwave is great except for the preset times that Ive mentioned. We use it daily and have done so for five years. It still looks excellent inside and out.
