On 8/2/2013 I purchased a 5 ton a/c system model# RPHLHM6024JC, serial # W201312660 from ARS. On 2/12/15, a leak on the outside unit, which resulted in loss of freon, had to be fixed. This was deemed a manufacturer's problem. After a long argument ARS decided to pay for the repair. On 3/17/2016, during a routine servicing, the tech advised me of another manufacturer's problem - a leaking evaporator coil resulting in loss of R410 refrigerant. I was told workmanship will be $585.00 (part is covered by Rheem). Two major problems tell me that this product is a LEMON. I think Rheem should stand behind its products and do not make consumers, especially the elderly, bear the burden of it's shoddy manufacturing process. I am just one of the hundreds of Rheem customers who have claimed about their products and I hope some agency will make this company shoulder its burden.

Basically, I bought two Ruud/Rheem air conditioners from a local company and the 2011 air conditioner started to leak Freon as far as I can tell in 2016. Upon investigation and numerous calls I became aware that the company is selling units with copper coils (aluminum is the best choice) that are eaten through by the Freon and thus cause leaks in the coils which and in turn the unit shuts down. The company denies that they are having significant problems and will not help me financially address the repair. So, at this time I am repairing my air conditioner from my own "Pocket" even though I bought the units in good faith along with the assurance that Ruud/Rheem was a trustworthy company, WHICH THEY HAVE PROVEN ARE NOT TO BE.When I called the company, the customer service representative was in complete denial of the problem and I think they were trained to say certain pat answers to avoid liability. "I Highly suggest that everyone reading this write or call the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION as I did and a rep will call to take your complaint and if enough people do so there will be a federal investigation based on the MAGNUSON ' MOSS WARRANTY ACT, look it up to educate oneself."

WARNING - Be sure to register your Rheem Heat Pump. Without registration, you lose 5 years of your 10 year warranty. BETTER YET... DO NOT BUY RHEEM. If I could zero or negative star I would. My installer did not register my unit 7 years ago nor did I. I was not given a registration card to mail in. For the past 4 years, I've had 5 techs here to work on my unit. Made a horrible loud banging noise that would wake us up at night. The blower motor was replaced. See-cell warped fan blade on condenser replaced. Thermostat replaced. Added 2 lb. of freon... All to no avail. Now the compressor is gone.I had AEP out when I got a $400.00 electric bill. They said air was not circulating evenly throughout- kept the unit running continuously. I had to close of 3 rooms to afford my electric bill. I mailed Rheem Corporation a copy of my dated bill, installation date, model #, serial # and copy of my 10 year warranty. Their reply was ... Sorry.. There's no registration recorded, your warranty is gone. So Rheem Corporation is gone for me. My friend also purchased a Rheem heat pump and her unit is having the same problems. DO NOT BUY RHEEM.

I had an old Goodman air conditioner that came with the house. I had it for 17 years and was still working. I upgraded to a Trane or at least I thought is as I was told that it was a good size for my home. The Trane broke 3 times in 3 weeks due to connection of the drain and I notice that this air doesn’t keep my room cold. I have to leave my door open and even like that it gets hot at certain times. My old one used to freeze me. I don’t recommend Trane. My nephew is looking for a new air and I mentioned to him what I have gone through and Trane is out for his home. I don’t recommend Trane. Thanks.

Having been around for over 100 years, Payne has had an ample amount of time to refine and upgrade their products. The marker of a top-quality air conditioner is its ENERGY STAR® certification, and half of Payne’s models are ENERGY STAR-certified. Payne offers simple, dependable products, and with that comes affordability.

I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old with two Trane Air Conditioner units. I received a 1-year buyer's warranty for the house as part of the sales contract. As the summer heat started, we noticed the air conditioners were not working well. We contacted the warranty company for service. After a couple of checks including freon refill, they finally found out that there is a leakage in the main unit and the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. They said the unit is still under manufacturer warranty and asked me to directly contact Trane to receive a new evaporator coil and the warranty company agreed to follow up with the labor. I reached out to Trane but they said my warranty expired because I had to contact them within 90 days of purchasing the house. I have explained to them that I was never informed by anyone about this requirement, and I even did not know the brand of my air conditioner until there was a problem with it, but they did not accept. That is totally unreasonable, how can a home buyer know about this rule? This is just a way for them to get away from their warranty duties. I hope this review will help some people to know about this rule so that they can reach out to transfer the warranty within 90 days.

Purchased the new heat pump in 2014. It replaced a 25+ year old YORK system. Within a year the condenser developed a violent shaking and rattling during a storm. We called an American Standard recommended technician in our area and he said unit developed a leak. We got it fixed at our cost of $600. The unit also has a musty odor called stinky sock smell occasionally when we turn it on...It is disgusting so we installed an ultraviolet light again at our cost....Needless to say our other heater never had any shaking or smells. We contacted American Standard to try to figure out what the problem was with the shaking and smell. We got no answers and told us parts were under warranty but not labor... In 2019 the compressor failed, we replaced that to the tune of 1700 labor costs. A month later another part inside. Within a week a reverse coil part failed. WE contacted American Standard/TRANE to file a complaint regarding the unit and our costs to replace parts. We have maintained the unit and sent a 40 page pdf of a history of maintenance and repairs. So far there has been no response even though we have called several times to find out about our case. Lesson learned. Do not buy a new American Standard/Trane hvac.

Trane delivers a remarkable product. Having a trained professional to install it correctly, it will last for decades with proper maintenance by a licensed HVAC technician. Not designed as a DIY project.

This water heater was installed in my new home by the building contractor's plumber for around $800.+. I had no control as to the choice. It recently stopped working and I had a friend who is a certified heating and air conditioner contractor. He said that the heater is leaking from the top and fills up the blower and shuts off the exhaust. There as a safety will not turn on the burner. He removed the water from the blower and the heater worked for two weeks. Loaded up with water again. I never was given a copy of the warranty, so I did not know about the six years expected life on this expensive heater. I have had two other homes and never had a water heater that did not last 15 to 20 years and they did not cost $800+. I called Rheem, but warranty is no more, which would not have made any difference, from what I read from others that had the same model 41VRP4ON, and got no response. My heater has been fixed again and is expected to run for another two weeks, until the blower fills up again. When I finally give up on it, the service man says he is going to take it apart and expects poor welding by the manufacturer where the pipes goes into the top. No heater would leak from the top in less that 6 years if it was properly put together and inspected. I will certainly let my contractor as well as the others know about this brand, in order that others are not cheated out of their money!
