My 80 year old mother bought a new Kenmore washer and dryer from Sears June 30, 2011. The last 2 weeks, the operation has been sporadic, and as of today, it won't fill or run through a cycle. She bought these to replace a 12 year old washer and dryer. I called Sears helpline and they couldn't find any record and immediately wanted me to schedule a $79.00 service call. I was eventually put on hold while she "checked on something". 5 minutes later, another lady came on the phone and had no idea why I was calling. After some troubleshooting, she told me I needed either a control board or a lid switch and asked me again if I wanted to schedule a $79.00 service call. I have never had a major appliance fail after only 3 1/2 years. Seems like the helpline just wanted to sell me a service call. If I have to replace this washer, you can rest assured it will not be with another Sears product since they don't stand behind this inferior product.

Even though the washer worked well, it developed a leak after a few months that would frustrate us because we had just invested in a new washer. Not counting on the leak, the washer worked well and was somewhat reliable. We liked the easy the washer cleaned the clothes. This was upsetting because of the bad experience we had with the leak. This washer looks like a very modern and functional machine. The appearance led us to keep the machine on the main floor of the house instead of hiding it on the basement. The dryer was expensive but not overly expensive. The repair costs to fix the leak made the machine not have as good a value as it would have. Not the withstanding the leak the value was good.

Works great! Easy to operate. Wrinkle guard feature works great. Easy to move; easy to clean. I would recommend this dryer. This dryer is very reliable. I have not had to have it serviced yet. Runs quietly and runs with reasonable dry time lengths. No issues whatsoever with its operation. It is the standard white of most dryers. It is easy to maintain a clean finish with minimal effort. Just a quick polish with a dry cloth. An occasional damp sponge to rid some extra lint. While I paid a little more for the Kenmore, the overall value is good to me because of the lack of maintenance in the long term. It dries the clothes well and keeps the clothes in overall good repair.

Electrolux washer ruined clothes - I purchased a new washer along with the dryer and pedestals in March 2012. Washer started putting bleach stains on clothes. After ruining several pieces of clothing, I called for service. The first service call was very prompt. Because bleach was involved, the tech replaced three parts, all dealing with the dispensing of the bleach. This repair didn't work. I spoke with the service company, and they indicated that there was nothing else they could do and that this problem has happened before. So after bleaching several more pieces of clothing, I called Electrolux again. They said that they needed to send someone out again, so I told them what the repair company had said. They needed verification that the machine was not repairable. It took quite some time for this to happen. I had stopped using bleach in the machine, but somehow, it was still bleaching clothes. I would call, and nobody would get back to me. Finally, after about a month and 15 pieces of ruined clothing at a cost in excess of $800, they authorized replacement of the washer. After making sure the new washer was working properly, I attempted to get reimbursement for the damaged clothing. They had me send pictures of all the damaged articles. Again, after many calls not being returned, I finally started calling every 15 or 20 minutes and leaving a message until they got tired of having to listen to all the voice mails. They only offered $150 for all the damaged clothing. Oh yeah, I have also had to have 2 service calls on the dryer. The door wasn't closing properly.

These machines are designed to clean your clothes by rubbing them together which they attempt to do in a minute amount of water. They destroy the fabric, pull the seam out of shape, wrinkle them beyond the point of wearable, do not get them clean and do not get all the detergent out. I have had clothes come out partially dry. They also do not dilute the fabric softener, leaving unremovable stains on your clothes. In addition, they take forever to do a load of clothes even without the extra rinse you need if you want any hope of getting the clothes rinsed. The dryer is the slowest dryer I have ever had. The steam refresh that is supposed to get the hideous wrinkles out of your clothes does not put steam into the dryer. Instead, it sets the dryer to the highest heat so that those clothes you did not want on high heat are now getting it; then it shoots bursts, yes large bursts, of water on them. Your clothes come out a combination of still wrinkles and wet. If you hear of a class action suit, please contact me. These machines should be recalled.

Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and dryer three years ago which was installed in our new home on an interior wall with a straight shot through the roof exhaust pipe. After only four months of using the new dryer, the exhaust pipe became stopped-up with a considerable amount of lint. The exhaust cap on the roof had to be removed to allow access for removal of the lint from the exhaust pipe. This process had to be repeated about every 4 to 5 months since. Since the dryer lint basket very seldom collected lint and had to be emptied, four weeks ago we had the service technician out who determined the lint screen had been torn in numerous areas. Since the lint screen is within an enclosed area, he advised there must be some defect in the dryer lint basket which was cutting the screen. Over a period of time if left unchecked, this could have become a fire hazard. Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening again? If so, please advise.

LG 7600 top loader does not have the capacity to really get clothes clean. As it drains it leaves a scum which gets left on clothes. In my 45 years I have never had such a poor performing machine. My husband's jeans were dirty and mucky from working out doors. I ran it on the best setting I could find. I took them out and put them in the dryer. There was so much sand and dirt in the filter and the bottom of the dryer. I knew the washer had not even came close to getting them clean. Because it has no agitator, the clothes are only bathed in water so really dirty ones don't come clean. Oh how I wish I had my money back on this machine.

I bought this Maytag MCT washer and dryer set brand new from Lowe's October 31st, 2016. When I washed the first load it made so much noise I thought it was broken. Called Lowe's and they said it is just noisier than the older ones. This is the water/load sensing model, supposed to be great. I am usually here by myself, so at most I wash one load of clothes a week. I have a queen size mattress pad in there washing right now. This pad fills up the drum pretty much, I have it on 'deep water' but that only gives me maybe 1/4 of the drum that has water in it. The pad is wet from wicking, NOT from the water covering it. How is this supposed to clean anything when the water is not covering the items?When it spins out, it gets off balance easily. The manual says to not worry about balancing load as you put it in there, but doesn't make any sense to just cram on one side as the water isn't going to float the cloth around to balance. The settings for Bulky does nothing more than the setting for Deep Water, you still do not get enough water to wash your clothes.It also does not do any good to add fabric softener to the machine, as it seems to just take it all out, you cannot smell any fabric softener on your laundry when you are transferring it to the dryer. And the laundry when dry isn't soft like it was with the old machines. I will be 62 in December 2017. My parents always had Maytags, never a problem. This is the 4th set of Maytags I have had. And bought a set for my daughter in 2013 also. And this by far is the worst. Their quality is completely gone now. Nothing but cheap made products that are predestined to fail. Friend across the street said she had looked at this set when she was in market to get a new set. She has an friend who works on appliances and who works for stores selling these models and he told her, they were not worth buying. Wish I had known that. Do not waste your money.

We bought this Maytag Bravos XL machine in Sept 2016. It has never cleaned the clothes properly, you can't even tell they have been washed! It also shakes a lot. In January it shook so much it knocked a hose off, flooded my kitchen and downstairs bedroom. Home insurance had to pay to replace the kitchen floor and downstairs ceiling. We contacted Maytag. They said they don't have a repair person in our area. Home Depot won't take it back. We are stuck with no workable machine. We have to go to the laundromat and pay 70 a week for laundry, plus the time, and we are out all the money. We paid Home Depot (thousands) for a washer and matching dryer. Plus all the takeout we had to order while they repaired the kitchen, but the strain of this whole thing is ridiculous.
