I purchased this AC/Furnace and had a problem with it not cooling and the Outside exchanger coming on and off all within the warranty period. The contractor who installed it, fixed it by putting more 410 refrigerant in it. When I asked about the on and off issue I was told that it was a "cycling" thing going on, was lead to believe that was a normal operation. Recently I had the same problem and another tech from the same company came out and told me it has a leak and he put 5lbs of 410 refrigerant in to fix the problem. He stated the problem was due to low pressure, that is why the unit did not cool and the reason why it turned on and off. Now I am 4 months over the 5 year warranty period, so I am told by the contractor and Rheem will not replace that portion as that is where the leak is without me paying for the cost of the part plus labor. The Rheem products are crap. I spent good money and had a contractor hoodwink me into thinking there was no problems with the unit when in actuality the problem was occurring during the warranty period. This unit should have easily lasted much longer than it did, but unless you're an ac tech you're not in the know. If you are looking to replace your furnace/AC unit look at another company. Rheem is one big rip off. By the way I'm a Veteran. All Veterans beware. This company is like the VA.

I have had this furnace for approximately two years now. I am satisfied with it as it heats up well, but I sometimes wish that it could do better. If I were to purchase a furnace again, I would buy the same brand but may go with a different model.

Had a new Carrier furnace and A/C installed in August 2013. It totally worked fine until last summer. After several visits by several technicians they replaced a low pressure switch and a coil in the inside unit. Last occurred last fall. I turn the unit on the spring and no A/C. Called the company that installed it since it is still under the 5 year labor 10 year parts warranty. It required 2 lbs of Puron. They never checked for a leak but recommended I have a nitrogen test that would cost me $800.00. I asked why I have to pay for a leak test under warranty. The tech told me that it is not covered under warranty. So they will continue to put Freon in until it goes out of warranty in August then it is all on me. A wasted 9k. Never ever buy or recommend Carrier products to anyone.

When my old furnace needed replacement in the fall of 2013, I was quite sure that I was going to buy the same brand yet again. I had lived in the house for more than twenty years and never had to repair the Ducane Gas Furnace. It heats our home in a short time and has significantly lowered our gas and energy bills. I’ve had no issues with it but I’ve had it checked and serviced every year to ensure that it continues to deliver optimally.

Bryant furnace installed in 2007 by certified installer and looked great. A couple of months back I noticed the plenum was bent and distorted with the seams opened up. Have had three "authorized service technicians" tell me they have never seen this occur before but deny any furnace malfunction. Bryant customer relations directs me to contact the Better Business Bureau to complain...really? I have been told my concrete floor "heaved", my floor joists dropped, or the installer caused the damage. Unit looked fine when installed but it has lifted about 4 inches and destroyed the plenum. Anyone else ever seen something like this?

Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrier is Awful. Stay away. So bad, it’s criminal. Installed a very expensive top of the line Carrier heat pump - it was defective from day one. No air flow or humidity control. Carrier, as well as, the Authorized Carrier Dealer/Owner and techs could care less to help or troubleshoot in any way - they don't respond to emails or letters or calls. This is a very bad company. I have spent over 60 days so far trying to get this heat pump fixed. The dealer/owner is a "walk away guy" - wants to install pricey equipment and if anything goes wrong threatens you with lawsuit to pay. I have never, ever, experienced such a bad company and bad people. One tech said, "You can call me 100 times but I'm not gonna fix your heat pump." And "just buy floor fans". That should work. Unreal - spare yourself this stress and use a reputable company. After calling, writing, emailing everyday for over 60 days, corporate Carrier has been of no help to me and the local dealer/installer is worse. Carrier only cares about sales and protects its rogue dealers - customers mean nothing. My home is being damaged everyday - no cooling, no heat, high humidity (mold) and no airflow or ventilation. 60 days of no action, I worry about when winter comes with no heat.

Our home was built in 2002 and completed in October. We have a closed loop geothermal system with 3 zones. Each zone has a heat pump and a Trane air handler. The system works well and we've had good heating and cooling for 9 1/2 years with low electric bills (thanks to geothermal). We have a 3 visit per year contract with the company that installed our system and have been generally pleased with this service. The first air handler failed after 4 years due to an evaporative coil leak. It was replaced under warranty (with plenty of labor costs). The second one had the same problem shortly after the 5-year warranty expired. It was replaced at full cost. The third unit now requires replacement at less than 9 1/2 years old due to another evaporative coil leak. 3 out of 3! That’s a definite strike out for Trane. All 3 air handlers are indoors in clean protected environments and have had the units serviced 3 times per year. Our much cheaper heat pump that we had in our previous house in TX (with air handler in a blazing hot attic) never had a coil leak. The electric bills were a lot more, but there were no failures in 13 years.

Built a new house and installed a new TRANE heat pump, finished in fall of 2019. We started using the AC this summer. After 2 months it stopped working. The aluminum Chinese evaporator coil failed with a massive leak on the hottest week of the summer. Not even a year old and it needs a new coil. It will not hold refrigerant for even a day. AVOID TRANE AND CHINESE COILS.

About four years ago, I had a 91 % American Standard furnace installed in my newly constructed home. As of today, I had never had it serviced yet it works as well as it did when I first purchased it. These furnaces are also quite popular in my neighborhood. As yet, I haven’t heard anyone complaining. I can’t express the joy of having a quiet, dependable and efficient furnace enough.

The old Carrier unit (installed in the mid 80s) finally died three years ago. Since I retired from Trane after 25+ years I wanted a Trane heat pump. Every winter since it was installed we have had Dirty Sock Syndrome. It makes the entire house smell just like dirty socks. Never had this issue with the Carrier unit all those years. The Trane dealer cleans the unit and the smell goes away till the next winter. However, my dealer is now saying if this next cleaning doesn't work we should look into purchasing and installing ultra violet lighting to kill the bacteria. Why doesn't Trane assume responsibility for the problem?
