We have a full size counter top GE microwave. It is about 3 years old and there have been no problems. Our last microwave was also a GE and it lasted about 15 years before it started to suffer from occasional electrical arcing inside, while in use. We simply stopped using it and after reviewing all models, chose to buy another GE and it has been great. We have an over the range micro at our summer home - a Frigidaire and not as good. Our research shows it will likely fail long before the GE.

I have a GE microwave oven. The paint inside the door is peeling off and has been for quite some time but I never got around to calling them. I recently decided to purchase a new microwave and use my old one downstairs. I called GE to ask them about this problem as I didnt want to have this same issue with my new microwave. GE told me they would do nothing to help me fix the problem and I need to stop using it because it is a safety hazard. I told them the microwave still worked fine and if I need to stop using it, does GE offer any compensation for something that is obviously a defect. I was told, no, GE will do nothing. I told them Id even be happy with some touch up paint but the lady was so rude, she would just sit there and not say anything until Id ask, Are you still there? Granted my microwave is several years old but because of this door defect, Im being told basically I use it anymore even though it still works. I need to just throw it away. I have a new GE microwave on order but thanks to their horrible customer service will be cancelling that order and buying another brand. I also will not ever purchase another GE product. I told them this and they said, fine. Obviously they dont give a crap about their customers.

I have a GE microwave. It stated that I had a 10 year warranty on the magnetron on the computer website. Now GE says its not warranted. I have owned this microwave for a little over a year and its pile of **. All they wanted to do is sell you their products and they dont stand behind what they make anymore. Nothing is made to last in this time and age. I will never buy GE products from Home Depot again.

Bought the whole GE profile kitchen series 2 years ago. Last week the microwave went dark, blew a component, and is dead. With only two people using it off and on for reheating, hardly got our money worth. Called GE for assistance and went back to the store where it was purchased. No one offered any financial assistance with the loss. The microwave itself was $500. My husband and I are very disappointed in the product and service.

I purchased a GE monogram microwave along with all the other brand new appliances when I remodeled my kitchen. Let me be clear when I say I will never buy another GE product again in my life. Not only is the product inferior but the customer service department is run by a group of very inept people that lack basic communication skills. The microwave I purchased needed two repairs within the first five years of purchase. I have a microwave in my office at work that I purchased over 10 years ago and Ive never had an issue with it. Needless to say, it isnt a GE product. Last April the microwave started acting up again and kept turning itself off. We didnt even bother calling GE because like everything else their repairmen are also incompetent. 1-800-Appliance came out and found that the magnetron needed to be replaced and we should just purchase a new appliance. Because our microwave had been installed in a custom made cabinet and the trim kit was still good, we made the mistake of purchasing the same exact microwave from GE for convenience. This was in April of 2014. Right now I am waiting for a GE repairman to come and take a look at it because it is already not working. This is after I spent an hour on the phone with consumer relations. I will never purchase a GE product again.

Microwave Model HVM1540LP1CS... This microwave was installed 6 years ago when I built my home. I live by myself and the microwave has only been used by me. I loved this microwave until suddenly it began to turn on by itself and I would often hear popping noises. I looked up reviews of this GE microwave and found that this is a frequent problem with GE microwaves. Fires were reported in a couple of reviews so I immediately unplugged mine, as a safety precaution. If this happens frequently with these microwaves, why isnt GE replacing the parts for the defective machines since they can be fire hazards?

Purchased an entire line of GE appliances for kitchen after having prior (still working) appliances for 13 years. Have had at least 5 services calls and countless emails and phone calls for non functioning Dishwasher. Here is response from GE Manager: I have reviewed the pictures and no I would re-wash those 4 dishes if they came out of my dishwasher prior to using them with my family. Dried on fruit, starches and dairy are tough for any dishwasher to take off as the sugars in them act like glue. Again for these types of foods we would highly recommend more pre-washing to make sure that they are not left on the dishes after the dishwashing cycle. CAUTION: DO NOT BUY.

20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

And cannot be repaired but not one person has said they were sorry or even owned up that it is a fault in paint. This is disgusting to think about this stuff falling into your food!!! My GE dishwasher is just OK, I would say. It saves water and money. It is fairly efficient to load and pretty effective at washing on normal but many times I need to hand wash the big or hardened food off the dishes before loading, which feels like more work than should be necessary. I purchased a GE Profile stocks in 2007 and a GE microwave model JVM7195SK1SS purchased 12/30/16. We have replaced the knobs on the stove 2 times because of peeling in the past. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. I know that we will get the same handle and won’t be able to use the burner below or hope that using the fan will keep it from cracking again. I would never recommend a GE product again.

Updated on 12/30/2018: Again had GE up, said it was not the pump as they stated. Hired a plumber as they requested, pipe not blocked. Changed connections and now the machine has no power. Again have to call for repair. I am sure they will have to order a part or tell me to call an electrician. I am so done. Please beware. Do not buy. Still not been able to use my dishwasher going on 4 weeks and brand new.Original Review: Purchased from Home Depot. I have had it for only one month used 4 times. The water did not drain. Called GE Repair. Guy came down, couldn’t figure out what was going on, said it must be the pump or it could be blocked. He went downstairs, could not find the pipe. Been there since 69...said he is going to order part. Waited 1 week. Then he calls me an hour before he was to be here. Mind you I took off work to be there. He said, “Did you have plumber to come in to see if there is a blockage and he needs to show you where the connection is?” Are you kidding me. I told him I am handicapped and having company for Christmas and I need it. He said he can’t come until I hire a plumber as he can’t find the dishwasher connections. Are you kidding?I said, “Can you come and install the pump and if it doesn’t drain then I will call the plumber.” He said no as he can’t find the connection...I am going to put 150 to have a plumber come when I know it’s the pump not a blockage to have the plumber show me where the dishwasher is connected because the idiot can’t figure it out. I said I need it for Christmas. Nobody working until next Wednesday. Do not get a GE. Poor customer service and to break down a few weeks after purchasing is unacceptable. I had A Bosch for 6 years, never a problem. Plus the lower rack tracks already fell apart. I live by myself and does not get much use. I read the reviews and should have known. The only reason I purchased I needed the bisque color. BUYER BEWARE.

I am a licensed master plumber. I do a fair share of high end kitchen installs, I noticed that in the last 5 years that all GE dishwashers I installed had a whole lot of extra parts to be installed by the installer. For example. Today I uncrated and tried to roll a GE dishwasher I got 6 and a drip tray fell out. Then when I went to install the dishwasher in the cabinet I had to install 4 different rubber flanges. When I went to push the dishwasher in the flanges came loose and hindered the install. The the insulation jacket kept binding up. The last 10 of these GE dishwashers I have installed the dishwasher appears to be racked or not square. I had to tell the General Contractor that I dont want to install the GE dishwashers any more. Way too much trouble. I have much better luck and ease of installation with Miele and Bosch. The GE dishwasher are very frustrated to install. Bob Licensed Master Plumber since 1982Richmond VA

We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? We have a GE Profile Microwave (PNM1871SM3SS) that is only 3 years old and is reporting KEYPAD SHORTED - SERVICE MAY BE REQUIRED. We called GE service repair and told them the exact message. The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. He said if we get another GE microwave, it will fit right in there and that I can do it myself if I am handy but after reading all the reviews online, I am skeptical whether I should get a GE microwave again or not!

My purpose is to inform the public that GE will not stand by their stainless steel dishwasher appliance on rust. In less than 10 months the outside of our door has rust spots. I used only soap and water and cloth to clean as door does not get dirty and our water in Hawaii is safe and drinkable. Does not require water filters. The jvm3160 series has a known defect in the door interlock electrical system that blows the unit fuse if the door is opened while the mw oven is operating. This usually occurs after the warranty expires. Cost to repair can exceed the original cost of the unit. Mine failed in warranty but it took them 10 weeks to fix it. The reason it took so long is that GEs repair protocol calls replacing the whole door (which has NO electrical parts in it) instead of replacing just the latch assembly because the labor cost to replace the latch itself exceeds the cost of a complete door assembly. Door assemblies were on back-order because of the high failure rate.

GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

My less than a year old GE microwave stopped working last week. My AT&T
My less than a year old GE microwave stopped working last week. My AT&T phone service died so I had to make repair arrangements online. Guy was here this morning. My microwave’s main board is fried. It does not conform to Repair Guy’s published schematics. Repair Tech could not upload new data to it. Repair guy did order three new parts including a main board. GE told Repair Guy that mainboard delivery ETA UNKNOWN. After three hours here repair tech left and told me to call GE customer care. Believe it or not, two hours on telephone with GE. First you need to talk to a customer service rep that cannot help you. They then determine you need a Customer Advocate. Then they need to input data on your file for the Customer Advocate. Then they need to transfer you to that department. Then you have to get a case number assigned. Then you give someone all the serial numbers and model numbers again. Then the Customer Advocate (CA) takes the call. The CA does not speak English as you and I speak English. After the CA puts me on hold to verify the purchase, then the appointment, then the tech and then the order they actually speak to me. In my case, the mainboard part is not available on CA’s computer. The CA has to electronically contact the parts department to find out if the part is in this universe. If the part can be delivered to my Repair Guy in Jackson, GA within 14 BUSINESS days from the date of the inquiry I have to take the part and wait for repair. In the event the part cannot be delivered in 14 days CA will start a process to get me a new microwave. The parts department has up to 48 hours to respond to the CA. When asked what happens if no response occurs in 48 hours, I was told, That never happens. It is the Christmas Holiday and I anticipated guests. My husband is disabled and his meals are pre-made frozen so I will have to decompose them and heat them on the cooktop. GE could care less about those issues. So after waiting five days for repair I have no working microwave. Someone told me not to replace my GE with a GE, but I did not listen. It is December, holidays, no microwave is an aggravation that I thought paying for a GE product would alleviate. So, on January 2nd I might get an answer. Part possible or new appliance COULD be ordered and delivered by someone sometime.

Our new GE dishwasher is a disappointment. 1. There is water on the door after the dishes wash. 2. There is soap on the door after the dishes wash. 3. The silverware is often dirty after the dishes wash.I have observed the following: 1. The reason for the water is the silverware trays are made of plastic and do not dry. They should make them of coated wire like they used to. 2. The soap tray is often prevented from opening all the way by the silverware in the rack. They should re-design the bottom rack. 3. The silverware tray is too enclosed for good cleaning. It should be made of coated wire like they used to.

I have a 3 and a half year old GE Cafe Dishwasher which I paid over $1400 for and yesterday, when I ran it, I had a couple of cups melted when I opened it. This morning, I opened it to remove the remaining dishes. I closed the door to it and left for work. I did not run it again, just emptied it. My husband came home about an hour after I left to a house filled with smoke and the smell of melted plastic. He opened the dishwasher and found everything inside melted. The spinners, the silverware holder and all the plastic rack dividers were totally melted.Apparently, the heating element stuck on and overheated it. If he hadnt come home when he did, I believe our home would have caught fire. He said the whole kitchen was much hotter than the rest of the house. The service repair man said it cant be fixed because it got so hot it melted the seals in the motor. It was not a wiring problem with the house. It was a problem with the dishwasher itself. So now, I am out $1400 plus a house full of very toxic smelling smoke.

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

We purchased our new GE Over-the-Range Microwave (model HVM1750DPWW, 1.7 cu. ft.) for $269.00 in February of 2012 and in August of 2013 it started to malfunction. Specifically the microwave would start on its own whenever we would OPEN the door. Now the microwave does not work at all (with the door closed or open). Based on the feedback that I have read in some of the posts on this site, I will replace the microwave since the maker can no longer be trusted to manufacture units that are robust and safe. But what manufacturer can be trusted at this point? It is my understanding that all microwaves (from all major companies) are currently made overseas with poor materials and highly suspect safety and quality standards. (Note - previous GE Microwave [same type - over the range] lasted for 14 years.) Thanks to Consumer Affairs for allowing us to post unfavorable reviews.

I have an above the range GE microwave oven, model no. JVM1750M1CC. It has been in service for about 9 years. About 6 months ago it stopped working with an F3 code. The code claims the control panel needs to be replaced. I found that the price of the control panel was over $100 and the service call was at least $100. A little shopping around and I found I can purchase a new oven for about the same price. As the control panel is located just above the largest burner where water is usually heated to a boil, it receives a lot of steam. I visited a local church second hand store and purchased a countertop microwave and used it while I found a good solution. I decided to let it dry out for a few days and lo and behold it worked again. Unfortunately it only worked for a few hours, sometimes a full day and then I needed to let it dry out some more. I purchased an extension cord with an on/off switch and hooked it up. Now I can stop the electricity without having to climb up on a chair to pull the plug. Once I was set up with the easy on/off switch I could easily reset it. After about a week of resetting, it got the message. It has been working properly for over two weeks now with no failures.

When we purchased our home it came with GE appliances which was covered under a one-year warranty. My microwave has been broken for nearly 3 months. It is almost impossible to get a service tech to come out immediately. GE customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. They are unprofessional and unreliable. Most of all uneducated about their job. If I could return all of the items in my house that were made by GE back to the seller I would in a heartbeat. The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

I like many other people have had issues with the keypad malfunctioning. The first one shattered the first time I used the microwave, I then replaced it 2 years later and now another 3 years the second one stopped working. GE was rude when I talked to them, said they had no record of my replacement keypads even though I contacted them directly and were offering another for $514. That is no deal, I could get one in the store for that price. Also, the icemaker and water dispenser in my GE Cafe french door refrigerator are constantly malfunctioning, my range keypad does not always work, and the seal around my dishwasher keeps coming off! I have had my GE microwave for over 6 years and the paint is flaking off the inside of the microwave, causing a health and fire hazard. Paint chips in the food and bare metal exposed can cause arching which in turn can be a potential fire hazard. After researching online I have found that this is not a uncommon problem with GE microwaves. Some have had this issue after 1 year. I contacted GE and told them of the problem and that I felt this was a manufactures defect.GE does not feel that this is a defect problem but advised me not to use the microwave any longer. Their solution was to discard this microwave and purchase a new one. I paid almost $300.00 for the original one plus $20.00 for a mounting kit. I was told that GE would offer me a discount on a new one from $339.93 to $319.93 total. This is not much of a offer considering this should be a obvious manufacturers defect. By ordering another I will have the same problem again. GE needs to stand by their products and admit fault.

I did the repair and put the machine back in service. At the end of 2014, an electrical storm occurred inside the unit with smoke and flames beginning within the control side of the unit. I unplugged it, let it cool, then later confirmed it was ruined. I tried consumer service again. They sent a repairman out to confirm the unit was not repairable. This time they called 2 days later and offered me a $20 coupon toward a new, retail GE microwave.Basically, they wasted my time. We bought a GE dishwasher and a GE oven/micro combo. We were told that we would have them in a week but it took three and a half weeks to get them. The dishwasher was damaged/defective and did not work; water leaked all over the floor several times and dishes wouldnt wash. They would not replace the unit but insisted that they had to service it. A couple more weeks passed and the repairman had to return thrice to finally get it to work. The microwave had a bent door that did not lineup properly when closed. Again, another repair was scheduled and we had to experience another service call. I have never had a worse experience buying appliances than I had at Pacific Sales. Kwam, the manager does not return phone calls. He made promises of helping us with a discount because of our troubles but has not kept those promises. Their contract installers are inept and unkempt. My appliances do not seem new since they were repaired and the door on the microwave is still not lined up as a new unit should be.This experience was an unmitigated disaster that should not happen to any consumer. I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

Five years ago I purchased a brand-new condo w/ a GE Nautilus dishwasher installed. This machine has NEVER worked right. Issues: 1. The detergent cup that closes, consistently gets stuck shut, hence only half of the detergent gets dispensed and a second cycle is usually needed to get the dishes cleaner. 2. Dishes are never really clean. Theres always at least one dish that has something left over on it, but its usually multiple dishes. 3. Lower rack started rusting out after 3 years of very light use (used approx 3-4 times a month). Loud. Louder than my washing machine. 4. Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. A new lower rack is approx $100. My condo also came with a GE refrigerator. It too is junk. Never again...

Bought our GE Microwave (DVM1850DMWW) from Home Depot about 5-6 years ago. I can see a unit just failing; but to start burning, smoking and smelling is non-excusable. Purchased a GE 650 dishwasher which we quickly discovered has terrible racking for North American dishware. Also the control panel is overly complicated yet limited to use (always flashes settings even when not in use). Once you figure out how to load dishes into the very tight/ narrow tines they fall over and chip/break. When investigating the dishwashers by GE made in China/Taiwan etc all have same issue. The ones made in USA by GE have wider and longer tines. We have had MANY dishwashers over the 40 years and NEVER had one as bad as this. When calling GE customer service the senior rep was not willing to offer any customer satisfaction as nothing technically was wrong. At one point she stated we had made the purchase so live with it even though it was the wrong choice. We offered to pay for any cost difference, etc. When questioned about GEs interest in customer satisfaction she stated that was not a warranty issue. She was not concerned about a satisfied customer. With that, we will not be purchasing another GE product or its affiliates. What a waste of money.

This washer was easy to install myself, and has worked perfectly. Stainless steel insides. Very happy. You put a pod in, turn it on, cleans great. We do not even have to use heating element. Dishes dry quickly on their own. 24-inch wide. Bought to fit the new kitchen cabinets. Nice brushed stainless outside. Cleans easy with towel and hot water. Silverware container picks up to take to storage areas. No problems at all.

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

I have a GE Profile model JT965SK4SS micro/oven combo. It came new with my new home. A couple years into it, the paint (lining) interior of the microwave start to bubble and peel and eventually started rusting. Had SEARS come out (warranty had expired) who contacted GE and they concluded it was only cosmetic that it doesnt affect the functioning of the microwave. Well, its gotten a LOT WORSE now, bubbled peeling paint all over inside, rust, exposed metal, and the paint is falling onto food. I can NOT even wipe out the interior to clean it, it makes more stuff come off/fall down. I called GE last week, was told by 2 employees that it is NOT safe to use anymore, discontinue use. I had SEARS come again (per GE). The tech said he had NEVER seen anything like it before. He called GE to tell them its not safe, exposed metal, and its dangerous. They again said, well maam, youve gotten 8 years use of it. We wont replace it, but will offer you a discount for a new one ($2,500 out of pocket for me). The person who had offered me the discount (yes, I sent pictures, showed how bad it is) also gave me a tip regarding the unit I have now with the exposed metal and the chance of arcing (spelled? like Ark) if the unit catches on fire, make sure not to open the doors, the fire should contain itself. 2 employees told me its not safe, a 3rd gave me helpful info for if/when it catches on fire... and yet, they still wont replace the unit... and do not stand behind their own products. I plan to go to our local news station, see if they can get anywhere with this, since they wont do anything. Patiently waiting and unable to afford a new unit.

Microwave (GE 2.2 PROFILE) was manufactured in Oct 2015, I ordered in November 2015 and it was delivered January 2016. Installed in March 2016. Was making rattling sound like the case was loose or something. The other night I placed cup of water in microwave, turned on for 1minute and FLAMES shot out (on the inside) from the “squares” on the inside. Does it every time so unplugged. Contacted GE. Was told Out of warranty. Repair person can’t come for 2 weeks. Waiting for return call from customer support. I don’t think flames can be fixed!!

Just two years old, the interior paint in my GE Microwave JES1072SHSS started to peel. I called customer service, then emailed, learned that the paint peeling posed no health problem, then, as a gesture of goodwill, given a $75 rebate. I foolishly bought yet the same microwave today (and will return it) as I read here on this site: not only is it unsafe to use a microwave with peeling paint, GE had a class action suit over this very issue and never took responsibility for the health risks to loyal consumers. So it gets returned this week. But PLEASE BEWARE. Gosh, I really bought the goodwill - hook, line and sinker! Then I read all the complaints here - about peeling paint.

I purchased 5 new GE Appliances delivered June 1, 2014. Within the first 2 weeks, the dishwasher wouldnt drain and had the repairman out to fix it. Within the next 2 weeks, the door wouldnt stay closed and had the repairman come. He took the rubber off around the door so that the door would close and said he was not familiar with GE dishwashers and would go to showroom and look at it and come back. I said as long as I dont have a flood. He assured me that the water only fills up so far and would not leak. Within the next 2 weeks, I was downstairs and heard water running and it was pouring through the ceiling. I ran upstairs and very hot water was all over my kitchen and pouring through the floor into the basement. The unit malfunctioned and wouldnt shut off. I had to shut off the water to the DW and run to the electrical panel to shut off power. I then had to call insurance to get a restoration company to dry out and fix my house. I phoned Arkona Appliances to let them know and they gave me a toll free number to call for GE. The toll free number when you call you are on hold for at least an hour to talk to a receptionist which puts you on to someones voicemail. I was on hold for one hour the first time and one hour and eleven minutes the second time and begged to get a direct line for future calls. Reluctantly, the receptionist gave it to me. The technician had to come out and assess the dishwasher and said I needed a new dishwasher and sent the report in Friday, August 1. Because of the long weekend, I waited to call until Wednesday and they said they didnt receive the report. She asked me whether it was emailed or faxed - how would I know. Then she found the report and said I would get a new dishwasher Wednesday, Aug 13 or the 20th. Still havent heard anything. If received next week, it will have been 5 weeks from the time of the flood I have been washing dishes by hand. Awful customer service from retailer as well as GE. Problems dont go away they just get worse. Initially upset - NOW I AM FURIOUS!!!

GE Microwave Model JVM6175EF1ES - On July 26, 2014 purchased as a set stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. From the beginning I had problems with the microwave with the door had a bad connection and the microwave would shut off. On April 2015 the microwave started working without me starting it and I had look up and I saw sparks on the inside and I unplug it. GE replace it and now after 2 years I have the same problem just started and would not shut off and I unplug it. Both times I was lucky to be home. I would like GE to fix my microwave. I understand it has passed one year but, I think appliances should not break down after 2 years. I would like it fixed or replaced if possible. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Does the united States make anything except make us pay taxes. This is a piece of mess. The last 2 years my husband he suffered with LLC. Now I got to deal with this. Poor workmanship. We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

Purchased GE Dishwasher, Model GDF540HGD488. Its two or three years old and is junk. Top rack rails failing apart, bottom rack sliding rails have melted. Bottom sprayer has melted and wont stay on, incoming water has it bouncing on the bottom of the machine. As the heat dry is in it smells like melting or burning plastic. Dishes are NEVER clean and need re-washing. GE will do nothing, warranty off. Repairman says its just the type it is. Replacing it this weekend with a new Maytag, no way I would ever consider buying another GE product. Worst Dishwasher I ever owned.

My husband and I bought a GE dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in April 2011. We installed it in our new home in May 2011. It has never cleaned our dishes properly. Our dishes come out of the dishwasher with a film on them and do not look clean at all. I called GE in July. They sent out a repair person who proceeded to tell me that we were not cleaning our dishes well enough. The person also told me that our water wasnt hot enough, we didnt clean our dishwasher out often enough, etc. After I corrected everything, the repairman suggested our dishwasher still wasnt working properly. So, we called GE back. We have since had two additional repair men out. Neither one has been able to repair the dishwasher. The last repairman replaced a valve he thought might be broken. However, it is still working the same. I am absolutely disgusted with the experience I have had with GE.

We purchased a GE JVM6175EFES microwave oven in 2014 and are now on our 4th unit. When cooking food, condensation forms and drips down the wall behind the microwave. GE replaced it with another, but it was a rebuilt unit which when operated caused sparks and smelled of something electronic burning inside. So another unit was ordered and delivered damaged. Now after a year, the 4th unit is once again causing condensation on the back wall. GE has no answer or explanation for this problem and really doesnt seem to care. This is just one of several problems weve had with GE appliances. We also had to go thru 3 refrigerators to get one that was not damaged from the factory. We will be trying to replace the microwave with a different model, but doubt if GE will work with us to get this resolved as their customer service has been no help at all. DO NOT BUY GE appliances.

RCA RMW953-White 0.9 cu. feet Microwave, 900-watts, 10-power levels, end cooking signal, glass turntable, 6-one-touch cooking menus, speed and weight defrost, cook by weight. Bubbles obscure text. I wanted a white microwave with a door handle, .9 and fairly powerful. I was glad to have found this microwave. But I dont know if the hole was there before, or my teenagers or I inadvertently put a small hole in the plastic covering over the control panel outside the microwave (NOT meant to be removed, I asked support) but now its become a larger hole as air got underneath. I cannot read the button text. I tried to cover it with scotch tape and thats not working.I searched and found out this is a common problem with GE microwaves. The buttons are very close to the bottom and therefore, countertop, so if you have a utensil or plate or something that sits near the microwave, it might nick the plastic coating. I called GE support (in India) and they said since its under warranty, I can return it. However Id have to pay shipping costs. Fortunately, I bought this at Wal-Mart (I hate to support this store but it was the only place I could find this style) and they have an excellent return policy and there is no charge for shipping. It was easy to call and request a shipping label within the generous warranty period. You might save yourself the trouble of a return or be very careful to not put a small hole in the plastic coating. Again, this is not protective coating for shipping, this is a permanent coating to protect the buttons.

I own a GE turntable microwave. Ive had it for over 10 years and it is still going strong. I purchased it because of the capacity, the color, the wattage and features. The wattage in this microwave is amazing. It doesnt take long for things to heat up. I highly recommend this brand because it is so durable and the wattage it has. The dishwasher is new and looks great. However the dishes are not getting clean. After washing with a 200+ minute wash cycle utensils are still dirty and food particles are left on plates and bowls. This is occurring even with a good rinse prior to placing them into the dishwasher. I clean out the food particles filter after every two loads, makes no difference. Also the water bottle jets are a nice idea but water bottles are too tall to fit even with the third rack removed. I am very displeased with my purchase. This was not an inexpensive model.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

Month Long Dish Washer Installation from Hell (Try #3 the best).Install Try 1 (I took off work for): Oops, I ordered the wrong hose. I am going to have to come back next week to install. I will call you and set something up. (installer). Next week Friday: Hello is this GE Installation services Umm its Friday and the guy never called or showed up this week to install my dishwasher I just purchased??!? (me). We then set up a time for the following week. How unprofessional.Install Try 2 (I took off work for): Umm still didnt bring the right hose. Can you go to Home Depot for me and buy the right one and bring it back? (installer). Ahh No!?! This is your problem not mine. (me). Well I will have to come back then. (installer). You have to be kidding me. I have to take another day off work?!? (me). Finally he gets a guy to come with the correct hose. Umm, can I borrow a screw driver and some tools from you?(installer). You have to be kidding me, sure? (me). Installer proceeds to drop the sides and fumble around banging the pieces on my NEW floor. Finally getting it installed. It doesnt look right. Dont the feet raise up and shouldnt the dishwasher be flush to the cabinets????!? and it looks crooked?? (me). Nope. (installer). I file a complaint and the guy removes my $60 install fee and sends another team out to fix it.Install Try 3 (I took off work for): 3 guys come and re-install dishwasher worse than the guy before them. From the other room you hear banging around and Oops, I broke a screw etc... This is what happens afterwards. Umm the plastic backing and sides are showing. Its pushed out farther than it was from the first guy. It definitely is NOT supposed to look like that. Plus its loose??? (me). Best we can do. Bye. (install team). This doesnt seem right....(me). Oh no, its leaking!!!!!!!!!!!! (me). So I called a plumber to come ASAP as I said before its NEW wood floor. New Plumber NOT associated with GE or Home Depot (who I probably will be getting a nice bill for calling last minute) proceeds to fix my dishwasher for the next 4 hours...Here is a small list of problems: 1) its leaking; 2) the foot vibrated off; 3) screws broke off; 4) damage to hose; 5) bottom plate installed at angle not even remotely level; 6) scratched up floor and cabinets; 7) installed too far forward and too low. This is the list. So far we still are trying to figure out where it is leaking from and if the dishwasher even will work. Thank god I actually got a Professional this time unlike GE/Home Depots teams. I then called GE Install services 1-800-432-7167 again and this is what they had to say: We already refunded you the 60 dollars. There is nothing we can do but we will file your complaint. I called again to speak with a manager and after a long conversation, he gave me $62 off my order. -- And let me tell you that is not going to cover the cost of the plumber I just hired to fix your mess. Not to mention the 3 days off work I took. Irritated I hung up. I bought a fridge, cook top, and double oven with GE along with this dishwasher. I wish I hadnt given them my business. Apparently, I am supposed to call back if the dishwasher doesnt work when my plumber is done working on it. Oh I WILL be calling back, you can bet on it. As for now I just hope he finds the leak... Moral of the story is NEVER use the install services they offer. You are better off getting your own plumber from the start.
