I moved into a house with the dishwasher already installed and it didnt work. We closed it so we didnt use electricity but it started and wouldnt stop. The power button is broken. It just sits there and the lights are always lit. I tried calling for help but the workers were very unhelpful. I called a different number and was waiting a whole five minutes and no one picked up!

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

I purchased a GE Spacemaker Microwave model JVM 1750SP1SS from Best Buy in October of 2011. Just a few months after having the microwave, the handle came off. I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

We have a full size counter top GE microwave. It is about 3 years old and there have been no problems. Our last microwave was also a GE and it lasted about 15 years before it started to suffer from occasional electrical arcing inside, while in use. We simply stopped using it and after reviewing all models, chose to buy another GE and it has been great. We have an over the range micro at our summer home - a Frigidaire and not as good. Our research shows it will likely fail long before the GE.

GE Dishwasher Model GLD7400R10BB - Remodeled my kitchen about 2 1/2 years ago and replaced all my appliances with GE appliances. I noticed that every now and then my dishwasher wasnt starting or running through a full cycle. I had called the GE repairman because my microwave was not heating up and asked him to take a look at my dishwasher as well. After hearing it was going to cost me $500.00 to fix my still under warranty microwave and the control board was no good and very expensive to replace because my one year warranty had past on my dishwasher, I will never invest in the money hog GE ever again! WARNING... DO NOT BUY GE!

Ive owned my GE Profile dishwasher for 6 years. Two months ago the pump had to be replaced and this is quite an expensive item. Then the other day I went to open the dishwasher and the doors spring gave away, hence slamming to the floor and crushing my big toe. The repairman said it was not the spring that broke but the link that holds the spring in place. The spring is actually quite strong but the link is just a flimsy piece of plastic. We are both anxious to see if the replacement link he ordered has been made stronger and are replacing both just to be sure it doesnt happen again. Although my toe isnt broken, it is extremely bruised and painful so I am going to be ever cautious of opening the dishwasher again.

GE microwaves are crap. In fact its not restricted to microwaves. Its their ENTIRE line of appliances. They team up with other grade e or f manufacturers for appliances (ie: LG, Samsung) and ANY GE appliance is almost guaranteed to fail prematurely. I see all these comments bucking Malaysia and in all reality the fact remains that Malaysia makes damn good stuff (think SONY). But it is the COMPANIES that build the products and how much theyre getting paid that factors quality. No doubt that GE is using the bottom dweller rejected off the assembly line parts to build their units. Most are Chinese garbage. China also builds some very reliable products but as the saying goes dumb American will buy anything. They save the best for them and sell us the crap.It is the lowest grade of those already should have been scrapped at the factory parts that GE passes off as quality and they do a good job at showing it. A cheap 30 dollar China made Emerson microwave made by Daewoo (Korean company that actually is decent) lasts longer and takes a hell of a beating compared to the overpriced rejected junk we call GE. The GE ac units are another classic example of pure garbage. Sadly the older GE works forever. That should sum it up. Why didnt the GE executives while visiting Thomas Edisons grave make every effort to step away from his grave and not stand upon it? Because Thomas Edison would pull them under.

My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

Purchased my first GE dishwasher 3 -4 years ago, it died, one month before the warranty ran out, they sent a repairman at no charge, acted like he did not know what he was doing, mumbled something about a part and left saying they would return with a part 2 weeks later he comes back and says that they cannot fix it and they sent me a replacement dishwasher free of charge, 13 months later and it died, So I bought a more expensive GE dishwasher thinking it would last, wrong, 15 months later and its dead, went to parts select and troubleshooted it, ordered all parts recommended to fix the issue and its still dead, these parts cost me 300, so I contacted GE to see what they had to say, no help at all except to only charge me for 50% of parts, I have to pay for house call and labor and installation, gee what a deal NOT bottom line, GE dishwashers are junk, dont buy them.

This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

We purchased a new GE dishwasher from The Brick, after three washes it leaked all over our new hardwood floors. I called The Brick and they said it was GEs problem. I called GE and they sent out a repairman who told us it was a broken seal on the pump and that this dishwasher is discontinued and he cant get the part. So, that would mean GE would have to replace our washer with a new one! We went back to The Brick and told them we did not want the GE washer and wanted to replace it with another brand as we were within the thirty day guarantee. No apology or well pay for the damage to your floor (floor is warped underneath) and guess what Im still waiting for a call back from GE!! Dont buy anything made by GE. You will regret it! Our builder installed our GE microwave Model: JVM7195SF1SS as part of our kitchen appliances. It worked fine for about 3 1/2 years. Then it stopped heating. It turns on and appears to work, but after inserting a cup of cold water and running it on high 10 minutes, we remove cold water. I looked into this and found that the magnetron (spelling?) tends to fail. Apparently, its a known issue, based on the reviews. GE wont allow consumers to replace this and doesnt provide replacement parts. Getting it professionally repaired will cost more than the microwave is worth. GE sent me a certificate for $150 to replace it, but it will cost at least twice that to purchase a new unit and get it installed. Plus, we have to buy another GE. I dont want to end up in the same situation. So we didnt use the certificate.

This unit was purchased at Lowes on 11/22/16 and installed by our plumber shortly thereafter. Its not even 6 months old! It was poor at drying at first and then stopped drying altogether about a month ago. The GE Customer Service has sent a repairman here on 4 occasions in the past few weeks, sent faulty parts, including an element and a board (Im guessing that they mean a motherboard) but it is still swimming in water. Ive asked them to replace the dishwasher, to which they have refused. Yes we are irate, and rightly so. Whatever happened to quality manufacturing and decent customer service? I will never buy another GE product again. There should be lemon laws for appliances. Now we are being informed that the parts are back ordered until September, but that they might be able to get them from California on or about the 25th. Their apologies mean nothing when they do not back it up by amending the situation in an appropriate manner. By the way it takes 256 minutes for a full cycle. The plus side is that it is very quiet, but Im not sure how energy efficient a dishwasher can be that runs that blasted long. It doesnt clean very well either. If considering the dishwasher or another appliance, stay away from GE Is our recommendation.

I purchased all GE Profile & Café appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in 2012. The DW has never cleaned well. I have contacted GE through email several times and now I have to handwash all of the silverware and re-wash most of the dishes. At times, glasses and silverware come out worse than when they went in. We have checked the water temp, pipe size. We use recommended detergent and finish rinse. We had a service call from a reputable appliance repair person, we purchased the recommended citric acid and performed the recommended protocol. This thing stinks! GE recommended another service call. I had a 20+ year old KitchenAid prior to this and it worked like a champ! Never an issue. I am ready to toss it out and buy something else (but it wont match!). Any suggestions?!!

My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

I purchased a GE Profile™ 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Sensor Microwave Oven and paid over $500. I have had it 3 years and in the first 6 months it broke. It was under warranty and the $400 fee (door replacement) was covered. Then it broke 1 1/2 years later and I received a quote for $200 in labor plus the cost of parts (no longer under warranty). When the repaid guy walked in the house he said, Oh, one of these. Is it the door? I said no, we already had the door replaced, but his comment was very telling that I purchased garbage. I fixed it myself for $10 - it was a fuse. Then it broke 2 weeks later and I believe it is the fuse again. I know this commonplace complaint, like thousands before me, will head straight into the wind because the world just works in this way: technical support and repairs works as a profit center for a corporation. My GE Profile microwave abruptly failed out of warranty after years of use. The cause was due to a wire burning up inside that had not been loosely connected, said the GE technician, so this was an issue of inadequate quality--not bad enough to cause the microwave to fail quickly but enough to cause failure over time. After taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet, it only took the technician about 5-8 seconds to find and diagnose the problem, several minutes to get the right part (a wire) from the truck, and a couple of minutes to fix it. The labor charge was $121 for about 7 minutes of repair work, to be liberal with time. (This charge is separate from the charge to come to our home and diagnose the problem.) This prorates to over $1,000/hour for a basic wiring change, which I think is exorbitant. I understand that the technician is a highly trained individual, but this is already reflected in the high labor rate.According to GE, the cost to replace the built-in microwave, which came with a matching stainless steel frame would be $550 if we wanted the new microwave to match the frame at least (but not necessarily the oven, stove, etc.). This is the kind of cost you dont think about when you buy a new home built with matching appliances--well, I didnt. Companies like GE can rationalize all they want about all the overhead associated with servicing a repair call. I can certainly grant them some leeway, but in the end, charging an extra 8 times more an already high labor rate given the time needed to fix the problem is simply price gouging a consumer who has no good recourse. (This is why I pretty much avoid repairing anything, except for my car. Its almost never worth it.)I recently had an experience with an experienced plumber charging an hourly rate of $150, prorated by and rounded up to half-hour increments of work, regardless of difficulty of work. Repairing an appliance should work the same way, and my GE bill would have been halved. Because of such profiteering, I will not consider purchasing a GE appliance in the future. I pray that this microwave doesnt break down again in the coming years due to some other problem. It would be a lot less expensive to just buy a non-matching portable microwave then for $100-$150 than to keep up appearances. To be fair, the woman who fielded my service call was courteous and empathetic. Because the microwave apparently had an electrical burning problem, she previously waived the diagnosis fee. Otherwise, my simple repair would have run several hundred dollars, more than the cost of the microwave. However, she was unwilling to reduce the labor charge, so based on how strongly I felt ripped off, I give GE a star rating overall.

One of the relays on the circuit board had caught fire and started to burn through the circuit board melting it, the plastic cover and the wire harnesses. We were lucky to be home and awake when this happened and were able to take care of it. If we had been gone or asleep we probably would have lost our home!

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

GE Microwave Model JVM6175EF1ES - On July 26, 2014 purchased as a set stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. From the beginning I had problems with the microwave with the door had a bad connection and the microwave would shut off. On April 2015 the microwave started working without me starting it and I had look up and I saw sparks on the inside and I unplug it. GE replace it and now after 2 years I have the same problem just started and would not shut off and I unplug it. Both times I was lucky to be home. I would like GE to fix my microwave. I understand it has passed one year but, I think appliances should not break down after 2 years. I would like it fixed or replaced if possible. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

GE states they do not repair microwave ovens under warranty. Instead, they offer to reimburse you at MSRP for repurchasing the unit if you will show evidence you have ruined the units operational function. The interior bulb burned out in my unit, I disabled the unit, sent in pictures and receipt. They sent a coupon for about $30.00 less than MSRP and lied about the conditions of reimbursement. Brendia, the agent I spoke with, broke off email contact when I stated the unit was no longer available from the sellers on the GE seller list (including the seller I originally purchased from), and that the unit was only available at MSRP from the online sellers I could find. My microwave is inoperable and GE has not responded or offered to increase reimbursement to MSRP. I have not located a chain of command to whom I can report Brendias dishonest management of my case.

My GE microwave oven turns on by itself. The GE microwave oven model number: JVM1540DN1WW. The serial number is: RS903539B. My GE microwave oven turns on by itself usually as if the one minute express button was pressed in. This has been occurring for about 2 years and has been doing this normally when the air conditioner is not turned on. It appears this is a humidity issue. All summer it has been working fine. As the weather has started to be lower and we turned off the air conditioner, the problem has come back. When the temperature rises and we put the AC on again the unit will work fine. We live in Florida and it can be humid outside but with the AC turned on the humidity is lower and the microwave will work fine.

PVM1870SMC ($580 plus tax/Cost CDN). I bought all new GE Profile units in mid 2010 for my new house. I spent $7000, plus tax, for 4 items from a reputable company in Hannon Ontario. I bought a Fridge, Dual fuel range, Dishwasher and last the Microwave, model stated above.About 6 months back it started acting funny, but thought not too much of it as it was very intermittent. Today the Microwave will NOT seem to shut off after it beeps from cooking/warming up food and the door is open then closed. I close the door and it starts to hums. If food is in it, you can see it is still cooking. I open the door, and then close it again and it starts to Humming as soon as the door closes. The glass tray does not turn, nor does the light go on (when humming) as it does when you actually push the start button. If you do start it, everything works, that is the table turns, light goes on and it cooks/warms food etc. Then it beeps when done, you open the door to remove items, close the door, and again just starts humming.I unplug it for an hour, but as soon as you plug back in, again.. Hums until you open the door. I put a cup of water in it, and just closed the door, did not push the start button. After about 40 seconds, the water started to boil.

Bought model DDT575SMFES less than a month ago (along with a new microwave, stove and fridge) from the Home Depot. When the appliances were delivered the stove had some flaws in it so it had to be replaced. The dishwasher is a whole other story. It worked fine for a week but now it takes forever to get it to turn on. We try and try but it just beeps and the light flashes. Once we do get it turned on to stops before completing the cycle. If it does run a full cycle the soap dispenser does not dispense the soap. I wish I would have looked at this site before purchasing these GE appliances. Total junk and will NEVER buy anything GE again if I can help it. No responses back from GE and from what I read dont expect much from them. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. I purchased a newly built home which had all GE appliances in the kitchen. After 2 years and 5 months, the microwave no longer heats the food. I had a 3rd party appliance repairman come to do a diagnostic evaluation. He informed me that the magnetron has gone bad. To have this repaired would be the same price as purchasing a new microwave. He also informed me that the magnetron should never go bad in such a short amount of time. I contact GE and my warranty was for 2 year so the best they can offer is a $75 good will certificate. What this means is I have to purchase a new microwave and send in proof of purchase and in 4-8 week, GE will send me a $75 rebate check.I am disappointed in the GE product. Their products are now made in Asia (my microwave says made in Malaysia) for cheap labor and the quality has gone down. What is worse is that they do not stand by their product. The fact that something as serious as the magnetron went out in less than 3 years is a red flag that it was not assembled correctly. The microwave is listed at over $500. I would have been happy with GE even paying half but $75 will not even cover the cost for shipping and installation. I am very disappointed.

Since 2010, our 2006 GE 1.1 cu. ft. countertop microwave oven model # JES1136WL has had power failure problems. It began in our previous home and now in our next home. All of a sudden, Id check the panel and it would say PF, which means power failure. So, Id reset the clock and there it is, ready for the next usage. Over a year later, in our new home, as of yesterday, it will start and immediately cut off. Now, weve been using this microwave in the same plug since May and now its October. So, what happened? Today, Im looking for the users manual and have located it online. But it appears that the PDF GE has for it, the Adobe document, has a problem. So, Im going to check it on my laptop, as this is my PC. Thank God we only paid under $100 for it. On some of these consumer complaint stories, the person paid a great deal for theirs.

I own a GE Model #JNM1731DM1CC that came with my condo, in March of 2008. After two weeks, the tray was spinning, and nothing was heating up. They came, and replaced something, and it worked again. It is now November of 2011, and the ** thing doesnt go off. When the timer stops, and you open the door, the table turns, and the microwave is on, letting rays come right out at you. I have to unplug it after every use, so that I dont expose myself to rays coming from the microwave. I spoke with several appliance repair shops, and they told me that it is probably the circuit board, and that to repair it would run at least $200. I am so disgusted with GE. I also have a stove that practically blew up, when the door shattered, after only having it for six months. They had to come and replace the whole glass front. I doubt very much, if they will help me, because it took at least 12 calls to get them to replace the glass door, with the glass all over the place, and inside the oven, four days before Easter dinner at my house.

In 2008 I redid the entire kitchen and purchased all GE Profile stainless steel appliances thinking I was purchasing quality items. Well, it didnt take long before the dishwasher broke but it was fixed for free by GE under a recall. However, now the refrigerator has begun to leak under the right corner of the ice/water dispenser located on exterior of freezer door and the microwave touchpad has also failed as I need to press below the actual keys for it to work half the time. When I spoke with GE customer service they basically told me there was nothing they could do with the refrigerator, I would have to call a repairman and have it looked at or pay their $100 diagnosis fee.The microwave they told me had issues with that particular touchpad and had it broken within first 5 years they would have repaired it for free under their recall program. But since its 7 1/2 years old I would have to buy the touchpad which normally only lasts for 6 months to 1 year or buy a new GE microwave and they would offer a rebate. Im so unhappy with their customer service and poor reliability of their products that Ive passed on each offer as I dont want to contribute another penny to a company that in my opinion is unethical and has horrible reliability. 3 out of 4 of my fancy GE Profile stainless appliances have broken! I stated it would only do it once in a while so was concerned it wouldnt do it when tech was here & I would be charged so I passed on the tech. They sent a tech out & it only shut off but no arcing sound or intermittent starting & stopping. Tech stated it probably was door micro switch, but when GE called me back they said he stated it probably was circuit board. Whatever the cause it is still what I would call arcing & going off & on.GE stated They could give me a discount on a new microwave which amounted to cost of $100.00 more than I paid for it in the first place.

We recently purchased our second dishwasher in 16+ years (the other one (a Kenmore) is still running fabulously but staying with the sale of our former home - however I am tempted to swap it out with this new one from GE). This beautiful inside and out dishwasher has a couple main flaws that has me wanting my old dishwasher back. The buttons on the front are super sensitive, causing it to come on countless times a day as we get items out of cabinet above. This is not something we thought about. Our old one had the controls on the front but they were under plastic that you pushed... not actual buttons like this one.The second issue is minor. The rack on the bottom is set up very wide on one side and our dinner plates are smaller than some and they do not sit firmly in between the tines. The spacing is great for larger plates or serving items but not for medium size plates. We use a lot of bowls so the other side with closer together tines is always full. Like I said just a minor flaw. Lastly, the unit puts off a high-pitched sound during certain parts of the cycle. It is not really loud but it is bothersome if we are still in the kitchen when it is running.

I have had this dishwasher for less than a year and it doesnt work. The soap dispenser does not always open or it opens but the soap is not dispensed and just dribbles down the inside of the door. I have called in multiple trouble tickets. They have replaced the computer and the dispenser and have ordered another new computer and dispenser because the problem hasnt stopped. When I called GE to complain that I have had the unit repaired too many times and would like a replacement, they said if it is reparable, they will not replace it. I explained that it is not reparable if they fix it and it breaks again. This past Saturday, the tech told me that I need to run my hot water for ten minutes prior to running the dishwasher and that I should move the silverware caddy from its current location in the front (where it is supposed to go) to the back, taking up space in the rather small tub so I have less room for dishes, which, by the way have to be thoroughly rinsed before washing them. I explained to GE that if I have to jerry-rig the unit to make it work, then it is not reparable. Would they say it was okay if the latch didnt stay closed and I could just put duct tape on it to make it stay shut? If the product does not work as designed, and when the instructions that are provided with the dishwasher are followed and it does not work, it is not reparable. They refuse to replace it and while they did extend my warranty, there will come a time when that warranty is up and it will start to cost us money for all the repairs. It is costing GE more money to keep sending out techs and re-replacing parts than it would to just replace the relatively inexpensive dishwasher. Would I recommend this dishwasher to a friend? I would not recommend this dishwasher to an enemy! DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!!!

We were super excited to get this GE Profile Cafe dishwasher. Minus the brand, it was the exact design/style as the one my dad has which we love! First issue, dont have a name of a dish liquid if you cant use all of them. Cascade apparently makes different detergent styles for the smart dispense. Dishes were ridiculously dirty and the horrible thing is I couldnt find an answer why on GEs site, I had to go to a handyman site. That was about a month and a half ago. Today, I did the dishes and, of course, let it do its thing. I always have the heated dry on by the way. Well, dinner came and I grabbed some dishes out which were screaming hot and I had to use an oven mitt. I didnt think anything of it because sometimes Im a sissy about that. Well, its now 3 hrs later and I get up to the smell of burning plastic. My first thought was that the sippy cup straw fell on the heating unit. I did not, however, expect to open it and see the Tupperware melting, the silverware rack melting and the water bar to be melting to the heating unit and it being so hot that I have to use an oven mitt just to touch the freaking rack. Oh! And by the way, we bought this off Craigslist last year and it was brand new. It still had the casing around it from the store.

Very heavy to mount above a stove, not enough watts. The model I have is 900 watts, too many options for cooking different foods, not many parts are available to make a repair on any of the GE microwaves, I would not recommend purchasing a GE.

My dishwasher is doing the same thing as the recalled models. The GE Cafe model is not included in the recall. The dishwasher front, which is stainless steel, becomes so hot it burns to the touch and stays that way for hours. Burning smell in the kitchen! Cafe models need to be added to the recall!

We bought a new GE microwave oven in 2007. It failed in 2018 after much, much use. We replaced it with a Whirlpool which failed in one week. Lowe’s let us return it and we bought another GE like our original and we are very happy with it.

I needed a microwave, and researched a lot of brands, some the buttons quit working, others sparked. Found this GE on sale at Lowes about 4 years ago for $29.00 and so far I am very happy with it. I must admit it is a little big, but it works beautifully. It does fit on the counter, so for its size and the price it is a great deal!!!

The GE repairman just left. It wasnt the coil that was flaking, it was the eco dish washing detergent I was using. The detergent wasnt dissolving, it was clogging up the jets and burning on the coil. What I was seeing was black burned detergent flakes. The repairman gave me citric acid to use to clean out the clogs (for free). He also didnt charge me for the visit, even though it was my fault. He also told me to get the water in my sink really hot before I start the dishwasher. I am very impressed with his service!

I purchased all the kitchen appliances. All GE brands. The microwave after almost 3 years the white paint from inside start peeling. When I called GE directly, received no help at all. They wanted to replace the microwave and the stove for over $2400. I can buy the full set from Best Buy for almost $2300 all in Samsung brand. Also, this related to paint issue. Maybe the paint is a very low quality or something related to lead-paint. Imagine you are warming up the food and know nothing about the paint is peeling, and each time you have small pieces in your food. I wish I could add the recording of the microwave that everybody could see.

20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

The GE over-the-range, model JVM316URFSS was installed in our new home by the builder. We have been in the house and used the microwave moderately for the past two years. Last night, out of nowhere, the microwave started running. I realized that it was actually heating when the glass turntable popped. I jumped up and opened the door to stop the heating. The turntable was broken. The interior was incredibly hot. Having read several reviews I realize that this is not an uncommon problem. I am going to buy a replacement but I am very concerned by the fact that GE is aware of this recallable situation and continue to allow this product to remain on the market. I will NOT purchase another GE because apparently they do not care. Our house could have burned down had we not be home.

I purchased a GE Microwave Oven model # JES1139WL03 in late May of 2010. In early July, the paint started coming off the inside of the door when I wiped it with a damp dishcloth. I called Lowes, where I had purchased it, but was told that their warranty was only 30 days. I called GEs Consumer Support line and was told that for $65, I could ship the microwave to a repair center who would determine whether the machine could be repainted or would need to be replaced. I was told that either would require me to pay for it, since the machine still worked and peeling paint was not considered to be a warranty item. I guess if it catches fire, then they might warranty it.

Sometimes there are dishwashing detergent (powder) left on the dishes. Nothing extra, very basic, it has regular or pot scrubber cycles, air dry or heat dry, a slot for dry rinse liquid, detergent slot, short wash cycle, upper rack, lower rack and flatware basket. Came with the house purchased 17+ years ago. White body with black upper control panel the entire width of the dishwasher. It is still in very good condition, but then I take care of everything, always rinse everything before placing them in the dishwasher. Never needed service yet.

I purchased new home with new GE appliances. The dishwasher from day one has been a problem. It constantly leaves water droplets inside on top, sides and door of dishwasher as well as all plastics are covered in water after even using heated drying selection. I was told after 2 visits by GE repair that it functions as designed. We have water softener, use rinse agent and quality dishwashing detergent, and the water temperature is within acceptable range.

After having my Cafe Stovetop for about a year and a half, there was a electrical component malfunction. During this, smoke came out of the stovetop and it smelled of electrical burning. I sent a complaint to GE since several components were damaged. Knowing that the warranty was only for 1 year, there would be nothing they could do except sell me the parts.

Their service department is absolutely terrible. The motherboard went out after only 8 months of use. They never notified the appliance repair company that the part was back ordered (I had to follow-up on that) and every step of the way I kept being told someone will follow-up in 2-3 business days. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call to check on the status of my claim EVERY time. The request for a replacement dishwasher after two weeks was denied because the part was going to be available in another week, but then I wouldnt receive the part for a minimum of another week after that. When I asked to speak to a superior she refused and told me no one was available. After demanding to speak to one I was told they would contact me in ANOTHER 2-3 business days (well see if that ever happens). This is (still going on) an absolutely awful service experience. I dont care that the dishwasher broke, I care that theyve handled it so poorly.

While heating a bowl of butter, my microwave arced. Microwave had smoke and electric fire smell. I have contacted GE. They said it was a rare issue. From the reviews on this site, I do not believe that this is a rare issue. They offered a 25 dollar coupon to buy another one. I do not believe I would do that. GE has had microwave recalls in the past due to fire hazard. I have registered a concern with the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

For the amt. of money I paid for this microwave, you would think it would outlast the house. I bought it 3 yrs ago. The touchpad covering started to get warped right off the bat, and the handle was always steaming hot when you used the stove top (also GE). The other day, while using the stove top, I happened to look at the microwave, and it had no power. I checked the breaker, it was fine. I happened to notice a crack on the touch pad. After further investigation, I noticed the entire touchpad is shattered. It was clearly from the heat given off from the stove top. And I wasnt even using the microwave at the time. I sent GE an email, didnt even get an auto response. I am going to call them, but we all know what they are going to say, and I am not paying $482 for the part. Was hoping there was a recall, since so many people on the net complain about the touchpad.

I purchased a full suite of GE Monogram Appliances about 5 years ago. All are fine except the microwave which was made in China. The back is rusting out, the inside is chipping at the door and moisture builds up in the door window. This progressive deterioration has taken place over the past 5 years. I paid $420 for the microwave plus $226 for the trim kit. Now, all GE wants to do is sell me a new unit and a new trim kit (will not fit old trim kit). I paid approximately $20,000 for the entire group. I bought GE because I trusted the name. Im stuck with GE if I want to match the remaining appliances. There are only two people living in this house so there is only minimal usage. To further complicate things, there is no serial number on the tag.

I also have a GE Profile dishwasher with malfunctioning wheels. I read this site, and was comforted and enraged that I was not alone with my melting wheels. I sent GE customer service a note, explaining my problem. I also included a link to this site in my note. I explained that I was a loyal GE customer and that they should stand behind their products although my unit was no longer covered under warranty and did not qualify for the recall. GE responded to my e-mail with in 12 hours. They sent me a complete set of new wheels for my bottom rack free of charge, and sent out a technician to install them, again free of charge. They also e-mailed me to make sure I was happy and no longer had concerns. I am thrilled with my experience. Let me say that again I e-mailed GE and within 8 days (a holiday included), I had new wheels and a technician to install them at no charge.

6/11/2014. My microwave of 5 years the GE Adora starting to act strange. It would start to hum and the panel light would light up. The humming would only stop if I opened the door. Sometimes it would stop on its own. But today the humming kept continuing and I thought it was harmless until I heard a loud pop in the microwave and smelled something burning. The microwave glass turntable had exploded from intense heat inside the microwave. It was bizarre. Immediately I ran over and unplugged the microwave hood. In all the years and houses I own, this is the most expensive microwave I have purchased and it has lasted me the least amount of time! Microwaves shouldnt start on their own and thankfully I was home when it did. Otherwise my house would have burned down.

I have had a fridge, a washer and a microwave oven from GE. I have been so disappointed in all three, but the microwave oven disappointed me the most. The door broke around the handle and the hinges, and was replaced shortly after buying it. Then it broke again and I replaced it myself. Then it broke again. This makes me not want to try another GE product. The fridge shelves all broke because they were plastic. The washer fell apart shortly after a year. It is just myself and my husband using them, so they should last for years. When you buy large item, you would like them to last a long while.

I purchased a GE monogram microwave along with all the other brand new appliances when I remodeled my kitchen. Let me be clear when I say I will never buy another GE product again in my life. Not only is the product inferior but the customer service department is run by a group of very inept people that lack basic communication skills. The microwave I purchased needed two repairs within the first five years of purchase. I have a microwave in my office at work that I purchased over 10 years ago and Ive never had an issue with it. Needless to say, it isnt a GE product. Last April the microwave started acting up again and kept turning itself off. We didnt even bother calling GE because like everything else their repairmen are also incompetent. 1-800-Appliance came out and found that the magnetron needed to be replaced and we should just purchase a new appliance. Because our microwave had been installed in a custom made cabinet and the trim kit was still good, we made the mistake of purchasing the same exact microwave from GE for convenience. This was in April of 2014. Right now I am waiting for a GE repairman to come and take a look at it because it is already not working. This is after I spent an hour on the phone with consumer relations. I will never purchase a GE product again.
