We purchased a VERY expensive GE dishwasher (Re: Case: 13259178, Model: PDWT580V00SS, Serial No:MZ841691B) for over $1500 and IT DOES NOT WORK! It actually DESTROYS dishes! It leaves a thick detergent film on plastic cups and plates and renders them unusable. We have scheduled no less than FIVE technician visits and all of them refuse to indicate that the dishwasher is faulty and needs to be replaced or they would likely lose their job. All they say in their report is that the dishwasher is performing normally. So a dishwasher that DESTROYS dishes is NORMAL? GE is a $265 billion company. They have a customer that is infuriated with a faulty product that they will not replace. They are giving us the runaround and it is unconscionable. Any other consumer focused business would have replaced their product by now. Not GE. They have a huge infrastructure built to keep consumers from getting their products repaired or replaced correctly. This feels like Davey Vs. Goliath but we are going to prevail. My advice to all consumer is to NOT EVER buy a GE dishwasher, unless they like to have their dishes ruined.

I purchased the model (PEM31SM1SS) GE Profile (Spacesaver oven) in November of 2008. Less than a year later, it overheated and failed. Since it was still under warranty, the repair was managed by the appliance vendor. The scorch mark on the rear wall of the oven was and is still there. During the past year, the paint on the interior roof began to bubble and peel. There is now a broad area of exposed metal and the paint around the interior door frame is also peeling. When I returned to my vendor, I was informed that several other customers had the same issue and was told to call GE. I also checked online and found many other complaints for the same thing. When contacted, GE offered me a $75 rebate voucher, applicable only if I buy another GE microwave. The current price for this model - the only one anywhere that fits the space - is $279. Even with the voucher, this is still a lot to pay for a product that has proved to be defective. GE does not appear to stand behind its products. It used to be a reliable company but given the issues Ive had with both this microwave and my expensive dishwasher, I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

I purchased a GE dishwasher, stove and refrigerator in December 2012. All 3 appliances have broken, needed parts (which were also broken) and I still have appliances that arent working appropriately. The dishwasher door broke and it doesnt clean or dry well. The induction stove (the main burner) doesnt work and the replacement part was delivered to my house and that was delivered broken. The fan in the refrigerator broke and still remains broken. I have had nothing but headaches since the day the appliances were delivered. I would not recommend GE appliances.

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

GE Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM2SS - The touchpad stopped responding, like many other who have had this issue. GE would not give me a break on replacing the main and supporting circuit panel as suggested by the technician, so I had to pay out $500 on my own. After less than a year now the microwave wont heat. I liked the units looks and display but if it wont work, its useless.

My parents owned the same GE microwave for over 25 years and had no problems with it. However, after theirs finally died 2-3 years ago, my parents made the mistake of purchasing another GE microwave. BIG MISTAKE!!! It wont turn off unless they unplugging it! They have already paid to have a tech come out to fix it but the problem started again 3 months later. I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. I said Do you mean your solution is that my parents who just spent several hundreds of dollars on your defective appliance should spend several more hundreds of dollars to purchase another one from GE? Why did their last one last over 25 years but this one only lasted around 2-3 years? Why dont you stand by your products? Their response was I can connect you to customer service for further help. I said I think Im going to stop wasting my time. and hung up on them. Dont trust the GE name, it doesnt mean what it used to!!!

I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

Slightly more than one year, I purchased a model GLD4404RCC dishwasher about which I have made complaints in the past, concerning poor washing performance and which you chose to ignore beyond attempting to tell me how to use it. Now, this Chinese-made piece of junk has begun to give different problems. Upon completion of the wash cycle, it starts to make a lot of noise and will not shut down. I must do this manually. Guess what? It has waited less than two weeks after the purchase date to do this, meaning it is out of warranty. We have just purchased a new home and will be needing new appliances such as dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and a water heater. It will not be GE. I shall never purchase any more of GE products as the whole company stinks.

I bought the dishwasher July 2020. I’ve had 9 service calls and multiple calls to GE and my dishwasher still doesn’t work correctly. It doesn’t wash or dry thoroughly. At one point it wouldn’t even turn on. They came and the wires melted together. It was installed by a professional. Now I’m worried it a fire hazard. I’ve had to leave work early each time. At times they have not shown up when they were supposed to or shown up when they are not supposed to. Every time you call you are on hold for at an hour. When you do get through they pass you on to someone else who doesn’t care or know what to do. Ive been told several times that should I get a new dishwasher after this many calls but I’m told by the service person that is not true. Also if the repair person deems it unrepairable can be replaced. The repair person said that’s not true. Now the its out of warranty and they are trying to charge me for the service call. They offered to sell me a new dishwasher at a discounted price. Unbelievable! I’m at my wits end and I’ve lost faith in GE

Not a very good job at cleaning, plus takes over two hours to run. It has a steam function, to help clean grease off of dishes, and should be used for simple cleaning too. Although the instructions state it can hold settings of 8, we have never been able to use more than 4 before it is packed. The utensil holders are almost useless. It has nice lighting for controls and a clean front. The installations instructions are not very good. They also did not include an elbow to connect to the water supply, which the hardware store manager said is standard connection, so GE just wanted to save $4.00 and piss off the customers instead.

She said No, that is the service fee. What a racket they have going on.I will not purchase another GE microwave, even though my other appliances are GE. My microwave is six years old. I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

One of the four prongs that holds the oven grid in place started flaming wildly and smoking after about one minute of microwaving. My whole kitchen has an acrid awful burning smell. This is my second unit for a small kitchen, and I will be lost without this. The first one I had the handle fell off. This one is too dangerous to use. These units cost $600!!! I cannot afford to replace one every few years. Maybe this model and brand is bad news?

In January 2013, my husband and I purchased new appliances from Home Depot,
In January 2013, my husband and I purchased new appliances from Home Depot, including the above referenced dishwasher. The first dishwasher was delivered broken. The display panel was detached from the body of the dishwasher. At that point, I was concerned about the quality of the product. From the way it was detached, it appeared to be very cheaply made. (It was also installed incorrectly, causing a leak under our sink and ruining the bottom of our cabinetry. We settled this with Home Depot, but I include this detail to help emphasize my frustration over this whole situation.)When I contacted Home Depot about the faulty product, they agreed to provide a replacement, so I decided to give it another try. I wish now that I had simply returned the product and purchased another brand. Upon receiving the new dishwasher, I noticed immediately that the edge of the inner rack was scratched so badly that the plastic coating was gone, and rust had already begun to appear. I had to call customer service and get replacement racks. (More on this to follow.) Allow me to detail our service call records:Call #1. Heat dry didnt work at all. The technician told me that I needed to run the water in the sink and make sure it was very hot before running the dishwasher, and he changed the settings. This created a slight improvement, but not much.Call #2. Soon after, detergent tabs started to get stuck in the dispenser cups. I was using the exact brand recommended in the manual. The technician told me that detergent tabs were just the worst, and that I should try gel detergent, even though this is contrary to what the manual states. The detergent ruined my silverware, and I have had to purchase a new set, which I now hand wash.Call #3. Using gel detergent did not work. Technician came back, and told me the wrong replacement racks were sent. That must be what was blocking the water from getting to the soap. He ordered another replacement rack. He brought a plastic door, watched the water, and told me the upper arm wasnt spinning fast enough. He made an adjustment and claimed to fix that.Call #4. Detergent still not emptying from the cup. A different technician came back and used the plastic door. He found a different problem, but did not have the parts to fix it, so, another service call had to be scheduled.Call #5. Technician comes back, and finally fixes the detergent cup problem. For now.Call #6. Heat dry now does not work at all. There is so much water on the dishes that I have to hand dry them, and afterward, I have to mop my floor. There is just a massive amount of water in the dishwasher. In addition, it will not start except on a one-hour delay. Pushing the delay button does nothing to change the settings, and does not allow me to scroll through like it should. This appointment is scheduled for today, but I am not hopeful that anything will change. At this point, I have no faith that this dishwasher will ever work. Customer service did extend my warranty for six months, but that is the only concession I have gotten from them. That extension will expire soon, and I fear that at that point I will simply have to spend another $600 on a new dishwasher and leave this one on the curb. Its unacceptable for any consumer to have to purchase a new dishwasher less than two years after purchasing from GE.

I purchased a GE Microwave Oven model # JES1139WL03 in late May of 2010. In early July, the paint started coming off the inside of the door when I wiped it with a damp dishcloth. I called Lowes, where I had purchased it, but was told that their warranty was only 30 days. I called GEs Consumer Support line and was told that for $65, I could ship the microwave to a repair center who would determine whether the machine could be repainted or would need to be replaced. I was told that either would require me to pay for it, since the machine still worked and peeling paint was not considered to be a warranty item. I guess if it catches fire, then they might warranty it.

Horrible experience. I wouldnt recommend GE appliances to anyone. My husband and I ordered our items on the day of closing on our new Home. Well the items were scheduled to arrive Aug 9, 2017. Every other Appliance arrived from Samsung, but my GE dishwasher was a no show. I received a phone call hours later stating they didnt know it was on Backorder and I wont receive it until Aug 11, 2017.I spoke with supervisor Krista because I didnt understand the lack of respect far as not knowing if the 11 was a good day or even so much as an apology! Until I expressed how upset I was! 2 hours later I received a automatic message stating the items it still on Backorder and now its not coming until Aug 17th! I spoke with Home Depot who apparently has nothing to do with the vendor handling and conducting business this way and now I have to go return the product & order a new product.I dont even want GE appliances AT ALL. After calling today being put on hold 30 mins still no supervisor came to the phone. Terrible Customer service and lack of communication of the vendor. Ill be sure to highly encourage my friends and family to not support this Brand! Feeling upset and totally let down. I know this cant be how such a popular brand conducts business.

Ive had this dishwasher for about 3 1/2 years now, and never have I been so dissatisfied with a product. I gave a review then, was contacted by a GE rep, followed their guidelines, even had a GE rep come out and review the problems. We changed our hot water temp, when we did dishes (not during clothes washing), checked to make sure the blades are not hindered, changed soap to Finish Gel (works best), added rinse aid. There is just not enough water to rinse off the dishes. Period. I do not add more heat/dry, and use Sanitize and Steam 99% of the time. What happens is the food sticks to the dishes and melds into them, causing permanent discoloration. This is no pot scrubber. It does no scrubbing! I have to wash my pots every time after I clean them in the dishwasher even if I pre-scrub them clean before washing! Sometimes the food from other dishes or the soap dumps onto the clean pot and makes it dirty! There should be a lawsuit against this company for this product. Its horrible! BUYER BEWARE! This rating should really be a 0 (zero)! Sorry I am not submitting proof of purchase from that time. We remodeled our kitchen in 2012.

Since it could possibly have happened bringing it home, I decided to let it go and went and bought a new one. This one is less than a year old and has the very scary habit of coming on by itself. Our dishwasher has gotten very warm mid-cycle and now trips the breaker in the house each time we run the cycle. The problem became evident in April 2012. We have called in a GE repair person to fix it and they said it was a heating issue and not repairable. We have not used it since, but have not replaced it with a new one yet. In August, we read about the recall of a similar model number manufactured within same time frame. Our machine model is PDW7300J03WW, the recalled model is PDW7. Our machines serial # is **. Strangely, the serial number is not listed in the recall, even though symptoms are exactly the same!We have called GE Consumer Affairs at 1-800-386-1215 four times, the most recent today, 9/14/2012. Each time we call, we are left on hold for 59 minutes only to be disconnected automatically! I am sending a registered letter to GE CA with a copy of this link and intend to contact my local news if I do not receive sufficient response within the week. Does GE need to see an actual fire report from my fire department or worse in order to get their attention to replace the unit? It is disgraceful and extremely dangerous.

After many searches trying to do due diligence, we bought a GE dishwasher online Nov 2014. It was delivered and installed two weeks later. The day (Saturday) after delivery we loaded it and started the cycle; water went in, the circulation pump started and then the machine stalled. The machine was reset pumped out, restarted but no further improvement.Called the GE service number and after a 20 minute wait was informed that a request would be placed to a local service company. Monday the local service company (30 miles away) called to inform us they had to reject the service request and that GE would set up another. Three days later GE was called again. They were unaware that the service request was rejected so had not attempted to find someone else. They could not get another company to respond and told us to arrange the service call ourselves, pay the bill and submit it to them.My wife and I are now wanting to return the machine but were informed we would have to go through the local Home Depot. They informed us that we would need to have GE arrange it. GE was called back and informed us that the dishwasher could not be returned as long as it could be repaired which leaves it to their discretion. The process to arrange these things took a long time, many delays and many phone calls back and forth to Home Depot and GE. The calls to GE often took 15 minutes to get someone who would forward the call to the service rep which placed back in another 15 minute queue. Do not believe that Home Depot will take returns. The advertising makes you believe they will take but they do not without GEs RGA which GE is reluctant to provide. Avoid GE. I am not the first to find out that GE warranty (one year) and service is poor and that they are more than willing to wait out the warranty to leave their customers with a possible lemon. Other dishwashers are available with 5 year warranties.

Of course, I rinse my dishes, but Ive had few incidences of dishes coming out dirty. Hot start, start (long wash), short wash, rinse only and plate warmer. The interior is set up well with a good variety of spaces. I would say its a normal-sized household dishwasher, not compact, with approximately a 24 width, 24 depth and height. White with gray lettering; four buttons and one dial. Simple design that is easy to understand and operate. The run-time of this dishwasher is quite long, and it is very loud.

We just purchased a new home and moved in about a month ago. The builder would only put in GE appliances despite our protests. We had purchased another new home 2 years before with a new GE water softener and GE reverse osmosis system. In the 2 years we were there, we had service people over on multiple occasions because they never worked correctly. The common message from all the service people was that GE makes junk. Corporate designed garbage designed to last only as long as the warranty. Dealing with GE was always a nightmare with long waits and customer service that worked banker’s hours. In other words, GE does not stand behind its garbage. In any case, we just bought another new house and the signature series microwave (billed as the best they make) would start to run spontaneously and beep when nobody was near it. We had to shut off the power to it just to make sure our house did not burn down. We researched it on the web and determined the keypad was bad. We told them this when we called in the warranty. They took a week to send a technician who would only work banker’s hours and forced me to take a day off work. He gets here and tells me that he had just tested the microwave and learned the keypad was bad! Duh! He then proceeds to tell us that he did not bring a keypad and that he would have to order one that would be mailed to our house. We live on a new street which address is not recognized by FedEx so we told him he needed sent to himself. He refused. He assured us that we would get it. So, Friday 3:00 pm rolls around and no part shows up so we call to find out what is going on. Mind you, I have already scheduled Monday off work at this point. They tell me that the part is back ordered and that they have no idea when they can ship it. Additionally, they have a wrong address for our house. We tell them the correct one and they tell us their computer does not recognize it. She cannot tell us when the part will be available. We tell her that this is unacceptable and that if they cannot replace the part, they need to replace the microwave. She says that is not her department and we have to call their customer department on Monday which is open from 8 to 5 pm Eastern time! We live on the West coast!!! That means they are only open until 2:00 my time and I have a job where I cannot make calls during the day. I can’t do it at lunch because the hold times are over an hour!!! I guess I have to get up at 5 or take the day off. When I tell people in the know about this, they just laugh and say, “whaddya expect!?!, its a GE!”. We have been about a month with a brand-new microwave that has never worked and GE is impossible to reach and has not even ordered the part!!! We are toying with the idea of just replacing the piece of junk with a product manufactured by a reputable company like Samsung or LG from a box store who will honor returns and take the home builder to small claims court. In any case DO NOT BUY GE PRODUCTS!!! You have been warned. They make cheap junk that never works right and play games so they dont have to honor their warranties. This is a New York Corporation run by people who do not care about customers, honor, or integrity. They make backdoor deals with shady homebuilders to peddle their junk exclusively and you will have to replace it in two years. Learn from our mistake in buying GE. They bring junky crap to life. Garbage Electric is what they should go by.

GE Dishwasher Model GLD7400R10BB - Remodeled my kitchen about 2 1/2 years ago and replaced all my appliances with GE appliances. I noticed that every now and then my dishwasher wasnt starting or running through a full cycle. I had called the GE repairman because my microwave was not heating up and asked him to take a look at my dishwasher as well. After hearing it was going to cost me $500.00 to fix my still under warranty microwave and the control board was no good and very expensive to replace because my one year warranty had past on my dishwasher, I will never invest in the money hog GE ever again! Sometime in the 1970s, my mother bought all new GE appliances; a refrigerator, a kitchen range-microwave combo and a dishwasher. After her death my husband and I moved into her house and continued to use these appliances until 2007. The refrigerator and dishwasher are still going strong as of now... October 2014. The refrigerator only needed the drainage line cleaned. The range began to have some electrical shortage problems and rather than try to repair (which is what we should have done with both appliances), we decided to replace the refrigerator and range/microwave. We bought new GE appliances; a GE refrigerator (my brother put the old one in his shop), GE microwave and GE range. The new refrigerators icemaker would not work property when we got it and the microwave (Model #JVM2070SK02) quit early this year (big difference in the old microwave at 30 some years use and my new one at only 7 years use). Because my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I was the only caretaker, I was not able to address the malfunctioning icemaker immediately. In fact, because of my husbands hospitalization, I wasnt even at home during that year enough to use the icemaker. WOW! What a ripoff GE is selling to consumers. My complaints wont solve my problems nor the problems experienced by other people who bought these defective appliances but it helps to vent my anger. Just recently a small leak in the waste-water drain hose (easy to replace) sent me scurrying to find a new dishwasher but when considering the replacement of my 1970s dishwasher and the reliability of my newer appliances, I decided that my 1970s dishwasher will outlast anything I could replace it with. So I decided to replace the waste-water drain hose myself. What a sad appliance market we have in the US when buyers have to replace newly purchased appliances anywhere from a few days to a few short years after purchase. I think appliance companies intentionally produce inferior, unfixable products so consumers will replace their inferior ones with new inferior models thus keeping up sales. Do we have a choice? I lived before dishwashers and microwaves and I can live without either now. I would prefer not to go back to wood cook-stove and an icebox but I may not have a choice (I actually have an icebox if needed). Is there any way to hold companies responsible for the products they produce? If anyone out there has had longevity of 10 years or more use from a newer appliance line, that is appliances made since 2000... Please share the producers name with rest of us. GE isnt what it used to be and neither are many other US brand name appliances.

I also bought a counter top GE microwave oven model jes1451dn1bb that turned itself on and then stated a vegetable sensor error. I did not trust it after this and when I plugged it back in, it stated a keyboard short had occurred and that I may need service. What I need is a non-GE microwave oven that works longer than 18 months. Prior to this machine, I had bought the same model back in 2003 and the same thing happened; The machine turned itself on and stated a popcorn sensor failed. This was back years ago and I complained to GE but never heard from them. This problem has been going on for years and they do not give a ** about the consumer who lives with this machine. I complained tonight about my second microwave and unless a miracle happens, I will never buy another GE product again in my life!

One day after the new GE dishwasher was installed, I came home to find water raining down into my basement. My kitchen floor was destroyed. The installers came out a week later to look at it. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

Our GE Spacemaker XL microwave stopped working on 7/11/12. We purchased our house in January 2000 with the microwave included and have not had any problems with our microwave, until yesterday, when we woke up and tried to pop the kids breakfast in for a quick heat and it made a strange humming noise and you could smell plastic melting. All power was quickly turned off to the unit. Now to find a replacement for this built-in microwave is going to be a problem. My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

GE appliances were installed in my new build home including a brand new, never used microwave. When we did our walkthroughs the microwave appeared to work (turned on, timer ran, etc.) but after signing we found out that the unit was a dud and the microwave emitter did not work so nothing was ever heated regardless of the run time. We have called GE several times only to get extremely rude and dismissive customer service reps (“Audrey” if that was even her real name). They refuse to replace a brand new unit that never worked and insist on trying to repair it, but we are also being told that this will take several trips as the technician will only first come to inspect it then a second trip will be needed to bring out the necessary parts (they don’t carry them in the truck because they are “fragile”). I’ll never be using a GE product again.

When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

It lasted 1 year and 3 months before the entire control panel stopped working. We utilized the dishwasher about once a week or once every two weeks in a two person household. Hardly a rough environment for a 700$ appliance. The repair costs was quoted for 99$ just to have GE look at it. The control panel was 140$, plus additional labor. This amounts to over 280$ to repair a year old product. I advise buying LG or Bosch.

In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

Purchased a black stainless steel microwave model JVM7195BLTS. When we opened the box we realized the handle finish was stainless steel and not black stainless steel as the rest of the unit. The website picture clearly shows a matching black stainless steel finish on the handle. Store was unaware of any problems and reordered another one. They claimed the GE rep said they had a problem with the handles on these units but didnt tell the retailers.

We purchased our GE Cafe stainless steel dishwasher in May of 2012. Periodically, it leaks around the bottom of the door. I have to put a plastic container on the floor to catch the water. This is bad enough and very disappointing, but the next and most important issue I have with it is the fact that it doesnt clean properly. I always, each and every load, rewash 3 to 4 items. The stainless handles also get very hot to the touch, which isnt very safe for a toddler. If I had the strength, Id pick it up and throw it out the back door. A dishwasher is designed to do one thing, wash dishes; its not a difficult concept. It is supposed to make life easier, not harder.

Our $599 GE dishwasher of 3 years is literally falling apart. We have a GE Slate Colored Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher (GDT580SMFES) and over the past two weeks, the water stopped heating and 2 seals in the dishwasher started disintegrating. If you touch the seals (the main gasket at the bottom of the dishwasher and the main seal that keeps water from leaking outside of the dishwasher), parts of the seals come off on your fingers. We bought our dishwasher through Lowes with the extended protection plan and were having a hell of a time getting it fixed... Every time we call to make an appointment, its a minimum of 15 minutes on hold and it takes FOREVER for the new part to arrive/get the new part installed (almost 3 weeks now). So disappointed in our appliance and in Lowes for selling us such a lousy extended warranty. Never again!

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

I have a GE Triton. We started a load of dishes before going to bed. When we woke up in the morning there was a terrible burning plastic smell. The dishwasher was stuck on, and ran all night. It wouldnt turn off, so we unplugged it. We are lucky that it didnt catch the house on fire. NEVER go to sleep with your dishwasher running. All the stuff you see at the bottom is plastic that dripped down. It melted the bottom of the silverware rack, and some silverware fell down to the bottom where the plastic handles of the knife handles melted. There is brown residue, so I think it did start to catch fire. Thank goodness we woke up early.

My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

We wrote to GE regarding the issue with the dishwasher and, after some phone tag, a certified GE engineer came to the house, diagnosed the problem and ordered all the replacement parts. This morning, they came by to install and essentially rebuild the entire system with the exception of the stainless steel. Overall, we are very happy with the outcome. With all the negative issues GE experiences online with regard to the Cafe Series, I give them a solid 8 for responsiveness and taking care of the situation. Perhaps ours is a rarity, but if you approach them logically and with facts, they seem willing to work with the consumer. Heres hoping the system cleans better now too!

RCA RMW953-White 0.9 cu. feet Microwave, 900-watts, 10-power levels, end cooking signal, glass turntable, 6-one-touch cooking menus, speed and weight defrost, cook by weight. Bubbles obscure text. I wanted a white microwave with a door handle, .9 and fairly powerful. I was glad to have found this microwave. But I dont know if the hole was there before, or my teenagers or I inadvertently put a small hole in the plastic covering over the control panel outside the microwave (NOT meant to be removed, I asked support) but now its become a larger hole as air got underneath. I cannot read the button text. I tried to cover it with scotch tape and thats not working.I searched and found out this is a common problem with GE microwaves. The buttons are very close to the bottom and therefore, countertop, so if you have a utensil or plate or something that sits near the microwave, it might nick the plastic coating. I called GE support (in India) and they said since its under warranty, I can return it. However Id have to pay shipping costs. Fortunately, I bought this at Wal-Mart (I hate to support this store but it was the only place I could find this style) and they have an excellent return policy and there is no charge for shipping. It was easy to call and request a shipping label within the generous warranty period. You might save yourself the trouble of a return or be very careful to not put a small hole in the plastic coating. Again, this is not protective coating for shipping, this is a permanent coating to protect the buttons.

We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

We bought Cafe series appliances less than 4 years ago including dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave. These are not cheap appliances. We also bought a service contract with them. When our dishwasher broke a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, we called service to have it looked at. After 3 trips and over a month later the dishwasher is still not fixed. Each time we tried to make an appointment we were always given a date 1 week out and a 4 hour time window, but each time the technicians showed up late and once even 3 hours late despite the 4 hour window. The fact that after so many visits and part replacement the dishwasher is still broken says a lot about the quality of the product and its maintainability. All customer representatives work like zombies. The problem with GE lies within the culture. Nobody cares. The service contract is a total waste money.

By January 2018 (no more Warranty) it began tripping the circuit breaker. I change the power source for a dedicate circuit only for the microwave 20 AMP. The microwave blew its own fuse. I replaced its fuse. Then it blew the 20 AMP circuit breaker. That was enough. This microwave went to the garbage after 1 year and 2 month of use.

Microwave oven, model # WES1450DN1BB, manufacture date, April 2011 - Your customer service sucks! I called there 5 times today and was told my microwave oven has been recalled, yet no one knows! You dont have it listed on the recall or anything. Your Customer Advocate doesnt know its recalled but your Service Department knows and I was told by them that it says, Do not repair, return to the place of purchase. Yet, I called my place of purchase and they know nothing of it either, but are going to work with me the best they can! It was manufactured in April of 2011 and we bought it around July 2011 (we think it was around then). There are many complaints online about the same issues as we are having - paint all bubbled and peeled off the inside top, and smell of burning wires coming from under it! If something would have happened to someone in my family or to my home, you bet your ** I would have sued the pants off of your company! Someone needs to get their ** straight with what is going on in your company or you are going to have a lot of issues! I may bring it to a higher level just because I am so pissed off that no one was informed about this issue, and something very bad could have or still can happen to someone because they are not getting the information they need! Stop and think about it. Because of your companys lack of communication, someone could die! I am very pissed off!

We remodeled our kitchen three years ago and purchased three GE cafe products: the dishwasher, microwave, and stove. The stove has been wonderful, no problems. The microwave was defective when we purchased but was easily repaired by the install of a new circuit board (I believe that is what it was called). Anyhow, no problems since. The dishwasher has been a big disappointment (it too needed a new circuit board) in regards to its performance. Dishes come out looking horrible as if there is still soap on them! I tried different types of soaps, the liquid, tabs, and rinse aids. Nothing seemed to work! I finally gave up on the liquid and my husband cleaned out the liquid dispenser completely and I only used the tabs as the results seemed to be a bit better. I regretted trashing our 15+ year old dishwasher that worked wonderfully! I am giving my review three stars because my coworker suggested I try a product called Lemi Shine (you can purchase at Target). I was not hopeful but it was the answer to my dishwasher prayers! It is incredible and I have used it for a few months now and have no complaints about my dishwasher’s performance. I use only the tab dispenser (Finish Powerball) and then I sprinkle Lemi Shine around the tab and my dishes are clean with NO residue! As an added bonus, the inside of the dishwasher is spic and span too! I guess I didnt notice how filmy and cloudy it had become. Try Lemi Shine and I hope it works for all of you too!

Purchased my GE microwave roughly 2 years ago. Recently it started running with the door OPENED. I cannot get it to stop even when pressing the cancel button. This happened whether or not there was time remaining on the clock. I was very concerned about the microwave rays being harmful to my children. We unplugged it overnight, it worked for literally 2 minutes and then it would not even turn on. Model number HVM1540SN2SS. Pretty upset that I have to buy a new microwave already!! Ive had this stainless steel GE Dishwasher model GDF645SMONES with the controls in the front for nearly a year. The dishwasher constantly comes on with the slightest accidental touch. However the buttons that control the cycle settings are extremely difficult to operate to cancel the lock or delay hours features. I have to literally bang on the buttons to get a response. My thumbs are now sore from the constant pushing to cancel that lock and delay features that came on accidentally. Once locked, good luck in canceling anything. Im so disgusted with this $600 dishwasher. Complaints to GE and the so-called warranty company that turned out to be one and the same, have fallen on deaf ears from the day I got it. I just remodeled my kitchen back in May of 2012. My wife and I started looking for the appliances and we decided to get the GE Cafe series set (dishwasher, cooktop, electric oven and microwave). Our microwave oven, model CVM1790SS1SS, developed a humming noise as soon as you closed the door. It does sound like the magnetron is on. To verify that, I filled a cup with cold water and I put it inside and closed the door without setting any cooking time. After three minutes, the water was too hot to touch. I called GE and told them that it was a fire hazard. They sent one of their technicians and he determined that it was not a fire hazard and if I wanted it fixed, I have to pay for it. How could he say its not? If I close the door, the oven is going to continue heating up until it burns itself and everything else around it. I am pissed at GE because this unit is barely one year old and expensive. This is a safety hazard and GE failed to acknowledge. Bottom line, Ill never buy GE again and will not recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

It has a E4 code indicating a leak. Waiting over a week for serviceman. It always because of covid is the excuse for shabby service.Original review: I have never had such a problem in my life, first you have to phone then its either they put you on hold or transfer you to a voice mail. This is ok service until something serious happens then all of a sudden you dont get any call backs and stall tactics and simply dont listen. My mother bought expensive GE Profile dishwasher with 5 year bumper to bumper warranty that means nothing, I cant get through, tried to send form there no way to send it just a clear button??? Its supposed to be at least in contact within 48 hours to 72 hours. I have given them extra time due to Covid but I BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT IS JUST ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR THEIR TARDINESS.
