Product Reviews:

I thought that making a purchase of GE products would be a positive experience especially with GE Customer service - should they be needed for resolution of any complaints. Wow... was I wrong! I purchased a GE Microwave (junk), a GE refrigerator (junk & previously submitted a review), a GE Stove (no problem - so far) & a GE Dishwasher (junk) & this review is based on this product. All of the aforementioned GE products were purchased at the same time. The dishwasher began to leak & malfunction. I called GE & they put me through the paces - the beginning of another terrible experience. I was directed by GE & RC Willey to Consumer Electronics who send out a repairman who proceeded to rip me off for 165.00 for a part that didnt work! C.E. denied sending a serviceman to service the dishwasher! I returned to GE for help in getting my dishwasher back in service. The ONLY solution that they offered me was a replacement that I had to purchase! Bottom line the experience cost me close to 675.00!! The Original GE Dishwasher cost me 1,000.00!! GE refused to take the dishwasher back or even give me any type of credit for what I have. What I have now is another GE piece of junk that I had to pay full price for - $550.00 + tax, etc... The washer runs forever - does a terrible job in washing & rinsing & leaves a film & a white powder-like film on the glasses. Ive changed detergents in an effort to get a decent wash out of it & that hasnt worked. I am so sorry that I spent so much money for GEs Top of the Line appliances only to end up frustrated with GE Junk & a Customer Service Department that was just as good as their product. I would NEVER purchase or even think of purchasing another GE product!!! My advice to anyone considering purchasing ANY GE Product is Dont Do It.

I have microwaved many types of food in mine! Remember, it’s not just for reheating leftovers! I have cooked fish, and chicken successfully. Those turned out juicy and tender. I follow directions from a microwave cookbook. It’s easy and clean up is a snap.

Model WES1130 GE Microwave - The entire interior of the microwave just started peeling off the coating/finish around 3 years after purchase. The turntable wheel guide path totally disintegrated the finish of the path. It still worked but was so unsightly and disgusting to look into the interior and possibly dangerous to eat anything that had been put inside to cook. I just got rid of it. I purchased another GE Model JES1460DSBB and it started malfunctioning after 3 weeks. I returned it and will not buy another GE product.

In January 2010, I bought a sensor cooking microwave oven (Model: JES1460DN1BB Serial #: MS900742B). I paid almost $500.00 for it. Now, in less than two years, the inside is already clipping off so it is dangerous to use. I returned it to the store and was told that the guarantee was good for only one year. So, I would have to pay to have it repaired. My last microwave (before GE) lasted well over 10 years. I always thought that GE was a good company; I guess not. I feel that it is their fault. I seldom use the microwave and I even clean it with a damp cloth. I do not think that I should have to pay for the repairs and I should be given some kind of a discount on a new one. I feel that GE is now in the business of making effective appliances. They should stand behind what they make.

We had a GE microwave that my parents got when I was in elementary school that lasted us through graduation (when I got it), and it then lasted me another 6 or 7 years after that. It was a great microwave, so we went with GE for our next one. What a mistake that was. The new one died completely less than a year after we got it (less than a year after its manufacture date at that!). The one after, one of the same make and model, lasted 3 years to the month after its manufacture date. Sorry GE, but I just do not have any interest in spending so much for so short a lifespan on your products, and its a damn shame that your quality has suffered so badly that you have lost a once-loyal customer of your brand.

I purchased a GE Profile stocks in 2007 and a GE microwave model JVM7195SK1SS purchased 12/30/16. We have replaced the knobs on the stove 2 times because of peeling in the past. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. I know that we will get the same handle and won’t be able to use the burner below or hope that using the fan will keep it from cracking again. I would never recommend a GE product again.

We usually turn on the dishwasher in the night. Last month ours started smelling smoke in the morning 6:00 am. When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Even after seeing pics, their tech review and the whole incident, their engineers determined this is not a safety hazard to me or my family.

Microwave (GE 2.2 PROFILE) was manufactured in Oct 2015, I ordered in November 2015 and it was delivered January 2016. Installed in March 2016. Was making rattling sound like the case was loose or something. The other night I placed cup of water in microwave, turned on for 1minute and FLAMES shot out (on the inside) from the “squares” on the inside. Does it every time so unplugged. Contacted GE. Was told Out of warranty. Repair person can’t come for 2 weeks. Waiting for return call from customer support. I don’t think flames can be fixed!!

We purchased a complete kitchen of Profile appliances. Everything is fine except dishwasher! The first one didnt clean food and left scum on everything... The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. My old dishwasher, Kenmore, left my dishes sparkling... no matter what was on them, plus I didnt have to run my kitchen sink to get hot water first! I will not use GE in my next house which will be built in about 3-4 years.

I have written to GE Appliances Consumer Relations for a replacement but pending another service call. I remodeled my house 5 years ago and went with the GE Profile appliances in my kitchen. Last week I had run the dish washer cycle and noticed the soap had not dissolved and the dishes didnt seem to be clean so I ran the cycle again. I started it at about 8 pm and we went to bed not thinking any more about it. About 1 am I awoke to a horrible plastic burning smell. I checked through the whole house and could not find where it was coming from until I entered the kitchen. As I entered the room my eyes started streaming from the burn. I opened the dishwasher and smoke starting bellowing out of it. Not just smoke but a toxic smoke filled the room. The inside of the dishwasher was so hot and everything plastic inside was melted. The bottom drawer and parts of the dishwasher were also melted. The silverware tray full of silverware was all melted together. This all occurred in a matter of 5 hours. Had I not woke up when I did, who knows if we would have woke up.The house was full of toxic smoke that did not trigger the smoke detectors. We just went ahead and purchased a new dishwasher and had it installed yesterday. This morning my husband decided to do a little research on this product and found there was a recall last year. I contacted GE and found that our model was not part of the recall because it has a stainless steel interior, only the plastic interiors are part of the recall. I also found out that had we called them and had them send out a certified GE technician look at it, they would replace it. Too late it has already been replaced and sent to the recycle center. I did take pictures and have record of the model and serial number which doesnt matter. I just want to get it out there that this product is also dangerous and a fire hazard. This product could have easily caused a fire in my home. I also wish I would have done more research before we replaced it. Our new dishwasher is a GE Profile...

GE has had microwave recalls in the past due to fire hazard. I have registered a concern with the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

I purchased a newly built home which had all GE appliances in the kitchen. After 2 years and 5 months, the microwave no longer heats the food. I had a 3rd party appliance repairman come to do a diagnostic evaluation. He informed me that the magnetron has gone bad. To have this repaired would be the same price as purchasing a new microwave. He also informed me that the magnetron should never go bad in such a short amount of time. I contact GE and my warranty was for 2 year so the best they can offer is a $75 good will certificate. What this means is I have to purchase a new microwave and send in proof of purchase and in 4-8 week, GE will send me a $75 rebate check.I am disappointed in the GE product. Their products are now made in Asia (my microwave says made in Malaysia) for cheap labor and the quality has gone down. What is worse is that they do not stand by their product. The fact that something as serious as the magnetron went out in less than 3 years is a red flag that it was not assembled correctly. The microwave is listed at over $500. I would have been happy with GE even paying half but $75 will not even cover the cost for shipping and installation. I am very disappointed.

My 4-month old dishwasher started to leak so I called GE to repair since it is still under warranty. Technician said there was a superfluous piece on the gasket which he removed. Dishwasher was fine for about 2 cycles when it started to leak again. As GE do not have a weekend service I had to take a second half day off work. Different technician said the gasket was not pushed in correctly and I should check it each time before running it. Shouldnt this be part of the design - a gasket that stays put?! Ran the dishwasher. Water all over the floor. The new floor that is getting ruined by this clearly faulty appliance.

My Profile dishwasher is not on the recall list, yet the heater element malfunctioned and did damage the entire inside racks and spin bar along with contents. GE told us to have their recommended repairman provide estimate. Repair guy estimated over $600 to fix. The unit was smoking hot which caused bubbling on the exterior and the dishes to show signs of burning. Well with estimate, GE is offering a discounted top of the line dishwasher for over $600. Pretty sure, I do not want another GE. Also, when I told the agent that I was afraid that if I had not been home, it may have initiated a fire, she said it would not have happened. Really?

We bought a brand new GE kitchen. We put all GE in the new kitchen. The hood/microwave/convection oven broke in 9 months. We had service out, and they wanted the same amount we paid for it to repair it. My husband is an engineer and he got it to limp along. Then in September, it broke and cracked up. All the control panel cracked and broke. It does not work. We called GE. They said to get a replacement. We went to Sears and bought a similar unit as the original has been discontinued. We were assured of a credit towards the new one. A credit would not be issued. Gary ** has continually called my home but not my cell. He reached me today in school, a Special Ed behavioral unit, and started yelling at me over the phone. He said that I did not provide serial numbers. I have many times. He said there is no record of my complaint. I have called, emailed and written at least 3 times providing all information. We just want a credit for the original unit. We have provided sales slips, etc. Please help.

SOLVED: PDW9980L00SS GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. The rubberized sump of this dishwasher suffers from chemical deterioration. In our case the deterioration allowed waste water to bypass a check valve and return into the wash water. Dishes dont come out clean and the spray wands get plugged up with bits of waste. The solution is to replace the sump. If youre handy with tools its an easy DIY job which requires pulling out the dishwasher and turning it on its side for access to the sump. Lots of videos online re the process and for safety start by shutting off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher power. For our model the new sump part number WG01L00289 replaces the original WD18X10026. Dishes & glasses now sparkle. Hope this helps as there was lots of frustration on this end before replacing the sump seen in the photo.

Appliance repairman said to use terry towel. Wish I’d known that. Secondly, after owning all Samsung appliances previously I now appreciate what I had. So many of the features of my past microwave are not on this GE. For example the vegetable good, built in sensory knew when vegetables were cooked. I had a problem with my GE Profile Dishwasher that I had for several years and I had it on factory warranty. However, the last time they came to repair, they did not have parts available to fix anymore. So, they recommended new one. I worked with Consumer dept and made arrangements to replace with one they recommended at $500+. After several efforts to get it delivered, it was and we began using. It is not a Profile like my old one and it does not have the additional washing, rinsing and drying cycles as the Profile. It is a flat out bottom line washer. No, sani clean etc.. We have used the machine about 4 times and each time we have to rewash several of the dishes and especially the silverware. This is the most disgusting piece of equipment I have ever used. My home is loaded with GE products from years ago, mostly the Profile series and I have been delighted with the products and service. This machine is a disaster. I cannot believe that GE has this on the market or maybe this is a machine they use to satisfy customers who may threaten to use someone elses. It was not free, as I say it cost over $500. The stores and onlines advertise better machines on sale for less. I have GE stock which I will sell. They are going down on Quality. Consequences: Stuck with poor machine that does not do job that I paid good money for. Really, GE, get yourself together. Product Model:GDF510PSD1SS.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have
If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

I have had the GE Profile for approximately 8 years with no Issues. I learn something new it will do every now and then I had no idea was possible. I stillHave not conquered the convection baking and that is my fault. I need to use it more often since it wouldn’t heat up kitchen like the range does especially these hot summer days in Texas.

GE Profile Microwave/Convection Oven JVM1790WK, over the range unit, CAUGHT ON FIRE while microwaving water for coffee. One of the four prongs that holds the oven grid in place started flaming wildly and smoking after about one minute of microwaving. My whole kitchen has an acrid awful burning smell. This is my second unit for a small kitchen, and I will be lost without this. The first one I had the handle fell off. This one is too dangerous to use. These units cost $600!!! I cannot afford to replace one every few years. Maybe this model and brand is bad news?

We built a new home in 8/19. Much to our dismay, the builder only offered GE appliances. We had a bad experience with a GE appliance in the past so we went with the most expensive offered, the Profile series. Nine months into our new home, the microwave push button to open the door broke (with food stuck inside). I was only able to schedule an appointment through an automated system. Days later, repairman breaks door trying to get food out. Parts were ordered and new date was set for one week later. Day before that appointment, I got a call canceling my appointment due to the part being on backorder. The entire call took 57 minutes. New appointment was set for an additional week. Again, appointment canceled and part was ordered from third party. Third appointment was a repeat yet again (but without a call and with repairman showing up). The rep did say she would send $70 for us to buy a small microwave while waiting. We are now at three weeks without our microwave being fixed and I have spent HOURS on hold trying to get to a resolution. Last representative asked why I even made an appointment if I didnt have the parts. What!! They have scheduled the appointments. I asked to talk to a supervisor but then was told it would be 24-48 hours before someone could call me back. The rep said this is the timeframe they quote for a callback but she didnt know when anyone would actually call. No idea how much longer we will have to wait-it seems we are at their mercy. When buying new appliances in the future, we will ask who services their warranty! Either way, we will never buy GE appliances again.

I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005.
I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

We just had a Fire in our GE Microwave, Model # JVM1750SP1SS. Manufactured in August 2010. Purchased at Home Depot in December 2010 and installed January 2011. The right rear shelf hook caught fire while the microwave was in use. Luckily, we saw it in time... We are not sure who to complain to or tell about this. We went on GE.com to inform them of this issue and am waiting for a response. I see here that I am not alone. There is other info being shared on YouTube about this issue as well. GE better make good on this for me. Now I have to find my paperwork... Figure out who will remove this under cabinet installed oven and replace it. I am probably on my own here as it is 3 years old!!

Purchased my first GE dishwasher 3 -4 years ago, it died, one month before the warranty ran out, they sent a repairman at no charge, acted like he did not know what he was doing, mumbled something about a part and left saying they would return with a part 2 weeks later he comes back and says that they cannot fix it and they sent me a replacement dishwasher free of charge, 13 months later and it died, So I bought a more expensive GE dishwasher thinking it would last, wrong, 15 months later and its dead, went to parts select and troubleshooted it, ordered all parts recommended to fix the issue and its still dead, these parts cost me 300, so I contacted GE to see what they had to say, no help at all except to only charge me for 50% of parts, I have to pay for house call and labor and installation, gee what a deal NOT bottom line, GE dishwashers are junk, dont buy them.

GE is a very reliable name brand with history to back it up. I’ve used their washing machines for years and only changed out once due to newer features. I had Thebes first washer for at least 10 years, maybe a little more. It only needed one part replaced, that was the capacitor, otherwise it was still usable. I am not an in depth handy person but I will read and do my research and found directions doable. Additionally, I found the service help desk very informative and that’s how I discovered it was the capacitor that had gone bad after washing clothes for so many years, and believe me, I did a lot of cycles with my kids and family. I feel I got more than my money's worth. Lastly, I’m still using their products to this day. I may not have the frequency because we are empty nesters but I still believe in their products,

Within months the microwave needed a new circuit board and, later, the auto open vent is making funny noises when it opens and closes. WORSE: Dishwasher on fritz in third year, requiring a new computer control pad. The cost: $283. Not even a year after purchase of new cafe series dishwasher, stainless lining rusting. Service called, GE tech agrees rusting of lining, GE warranty says not under warranty. Ive replaced screws that show signs of rust with aftermarket stainless screws. Cafe oven has had three front knobs just fall off - two were repaired under warranty and had to purchase extended warranty on third because it was more cost effective. Cafe Refrigerator had drain plate in back of unit completely rust away, tech knew what problem was before he stepped foot in my kitchen, he told us this was common. He caulked some sensor inside fridge box during service, I asked why, his response was its a design flaw and unit will operate better with this modification. Oh and redesign the ice dispenser, its tilted towards the back of the freezer and the ice is dispensed out the front.

Horrible experience. I wouldnt recommend GE appliances to anyone. My husband and I ordered our items on the day of closing on our new Home. Well the items were scheduled to arrive Aug 9, 2017. Every other Appliance arrived from Samsung, but my GE dishwasher was a no show. I received a phone call hours later stating they didnt know it was on Backorder and I wont receive it until Aug 11, 2017.I spoke with supervisor Krista because I didnt understand the lack of respect far as not knowing if the 11 was a good day or even so much as an apology! Until I expressed how upset I was! 2 hours later I received a automatic message stating the items it still on Backorder and now its not coming until Aug 17th! I spoke with Home Depot who apparently has nothing to do with the vendor handling and conducting business this way and now I have to go return the product & order a new product.I dont even want GE appliances AT ALL. After calling today being put on hold 30 mins still no supervisor came to the phone. Terrible Customer service and lack of communication of the vendor. Ill be sure to highly encourage my friends and family to not support this Brand! Feeling upset and totally let down. I know this cant be how such a popular brand conducts business.

I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have
I have a General Electric HVM1540DN1WW over the stove microwave that I have had. This month will be a year and a half. The oven stopped heating so being a DIY person, I pulled the oven out and took it to my workshop to see if it was something I could repair. Inside the front panel was a very helpful schematic of the whole oven. Using the troubleshooting step listed on the paper, I found that the Magnetron tube had gone out. So I went to my owners manual and found that the tube had a four-year warranty on it so I called General Electric consumer relations to have the part replaced. First I had to fight with them because they said it was only covered for a year. After about an hour and a half on the phone and giving her the publication number on the manual, she agreed that it was indeed covered for four years. So she said that she would replace the part and she would even send a technician out to install it at no charge. I was very happy at this point. She said that she would ship the part to me next day with UPS and the tech would be out the following day to replace it. So far so good, till the next day when the part did not arrive. I called back in to General Electric consumer relations and spoke with a man this time and he told me that she had canceled the order that is why I did not receive it, and he couldnt see why. So he looked at the comments she had made the day before and did see that she said she would replace it and send a tech. The tech was supposed to be here the next day and I had no part for him to install. The man said he would place the order and have it shipped to me by the next day no later than 10 a.m. and the tech would be here between 1 to 5 p.m. Great! Until the next day and again no part when they said it would be there. Again with the call only to find out that it was scheduled to arrive next day guaranteed by 7 p.m. The tech is supposed to be there with in the next few hours and I wouldnt have the part. I called Fed-Ex and sweet-talked the lady into getting a hold of her driver to see if she could get to me ASAP. Bingo, next thing you know I have the part, the tech calls and the part is replaced. Oh boy, the big gaping hole above my stove is finally going to be filled once again. (I promise I am coming to the end.) After reinstalling the oven, I found out that it was taking longer to heat than when I got it, and it has a brand new Magnetron in it.Again with the call to General Electric consumer relations to set up another tech to come out and check it out. So the following day, the same tech arrives and puts a cup of just barely cool water in it and puts it in for 30 seconds, pulls the water out and says it is working just like it is supposed to and leaves. Well, again I called General Electric consumer relations to let them know what has transpired, but this time I asked to speak with someone higher up the food chain. I then spoke to a lady and she said that she would set up another tech to come out and check it out, and if it resulted in the same way that she would replace the unit with a new one. The following day, the same tech calls me and said that the oven is working the best that it could so I should call back to consumer relations as he did and set it up for a new one to be sent in its place. So I called once again and was not able to speak with the same lady and the only thing she could do is send me a voucher for $250 laying around for a new oven, but I would have to purchase one and send the voucher in with the receipt to get a refund. I told her that I did not have a spare $250 dollars around to go buy a new oven and then wait for the refund to get to me. So I asked that she have the lady that said she would replace it to call me back to straighten this problem out. Finally the following week, the lady calls me back and said, This is the best that I can do, due to me voiding the warranty. I asked, What? She said that the tech that spoke with me said that because I had hard wired in the unit to the house wiring, it was receiving low voltage so she couldnt do any better than that. I told her that was the most asinine comment I have ever heard coming from a field tech and asked her whether he went to a school backyard Techs-r-Us. I asked if she would have the tech call me to explain. I also gave her some friendly advice that she should not use that comment to anyone else for fear of someone laughing at her. We agreed to have the voucher sent if that was the best she could do. I will not buy another GE appliance again! I have purposely not mentioned anyones name because it was the experience, not the person that I spoke with.

Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. It wouldnt turn off, so we unplugged it. We are lucky that it didnt catch the house on fire. NEVER go to sleep with your dishwasher running. All the stuff you see at the bottom is plastic that dripped down. There is brown residue, so I think it did start to catch fire. Thank goodness we woke up early.

Bought a PDT845SSJ2SS in June. Two months later, it has a leak. Good news, has a leak detector which shuts down the machine. Bad news is that it leaks and the leak detector worked! Called GE. We dont have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days. Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday. Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. Shes going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowes and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1. Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that. I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I dont want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE released the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! I assume partial responsibility for this goat rope - I faithfully refer to Consumer Reports when purchasing appliances and electronics. I suggest you do the same... you will find GE listed AFTER BOSCH, KITCHENAID, KENMORE and others. Also, realize the GE brand is now a CHINESE company. Caveat Emptor!

We bought a GE dishwasher and a GE oven/micro combo. We were told that we would have them in a week but it took three and a half weeks to get them. The dishwasher was damaged/defective and did not work; water leaked all over the floor several times and dishes wouldnt wash. They would not replace the unit but insisted that they had to service it. A couple more weeks passed and the repairman had to return thrice to finally get it to work. The microwave had a bent door that did not lineup properly when closed. Again, another repair was scheduled and we had to experience another service call. I have never had a worse experience buying appliances than I had at Pacific Sales. Kwam, the manager does not return phone calls. He made promises of helping us with a discount because of our troubles but has not kept those promises. Their contract installers are inept and unkempt. My appliances do not seem new since they were repaired and the door on the microwave is still not lined up as a new unit should be.This experience was an unmitigated disaster that should not happen to any consumer. Never will I buy anything from Pacific Sales or their parent Best Buy again. These problems are created by their management and their management does not care.

On 05/20/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was using timer and walked away then turned around and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames/smoke reflected in the Microwave window. She observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a rag & water. The burning items appeared to be plastic/insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate. Had this unit only 14 months during that time the microwave fan would turn itself on for 3 minutes and then turn off all by itself. Happened twice in 14 months. Glad we were at home and were able to extinguish the fire. Called Lennar the builder who put this unit in to take pictures and check electrical. Was told the GE unit was bad to call GE. We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

I purchased this dishwasher 2 months ago and am VERY disappointed with its performance. For an appliance that claims energy efficiency it is a total failure. My last dishwasher was a Kenmore that I had for 15 years. It outperformed this thing in every aspect. Since purchasing this dishwasher my water bill has gone up and my energy consumption has gone up. Why? Because I cannot put plates close together in this energy hog or they will not get clean. I have to do twice as many washings as I used to for the same results. This piece of junk has NO WASH PRESSURE! All the dishes must be pre-washed in the sink to assure satisfactory results AND I must use the hot water boost or they will not get clean. Energy wasted doing a pre-clean and energy wasted with hot water boost - bad combination! This product is taking me backwards in savings and environmental damage.

We bought all GE Profile appliances for our kitchen when we bought our home in 2013. Since then every appliance has had issues and have replaced parts on. The biggest disappointment was the dishwasher. It doesnt clean since day one. We bought extended warranty and had numerous service calls since we bought it through ABT appliances. Not to mention the dishwasher alone was $1000. We literally have to wash the dishes with hands because this dishwasher is only for show in our kitchen. I called GE consumer relation and they tried selling me another one with a discount for $950. What a joke. Will never recommend or buy GE products.

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave, GE Profile **, on 2/22/2005 as part of a kitchen renovation. I also purchased the GE Profile dual-fuel range, **, and the Profile ** refrigerator at the same time.I am now having to replace the over-the-range microwave as the interior enamel is chipping off in chunks rather than the discreet amounts in the beginning. The dual fuel range burst into flames and was replaced 3 years ago (the line was eventually recalled). The tracks that support the drawers in the refrigerator are breaking off slowly but surely, meaning they will not be useable shortly. I would not take a GE appliance as a gift.

Negative 5 stars. I purchased a GE over the range microwave oven, JVM2052SN1SS, just over a year ago and had a service call to address a lack of exhaust about a month after my purchase. In summary, the tech said it would not function as a dedicated exhaust hood and nothing can be done. 14 months later, the key pad began malfunctioning. Also, the moisture sensor that the operation manual stated will automatically start the exhaust fan, never worked and every time we cook, moisture would build up between the glass on the microwave door.I called GE Consumer Relation today and they will not address this issue free of charge. I will not purchase another GE product because GE dont stand behind their products.

Now I have a white plastic handle that’s supposed to be stainless steel as an eyesore in the middle of my kitchen. When I called GE replacement line, I was informed the handle was $164! My prior GE ref was 13 years old. New one, now four months old, has cut my electric bill by 40%, runs much more quietly. It is a 15.3 cu feet side-by-side; the top area of the refer side has a bulky light cover that interferes with what you can put on the top shelf. The pockets on the inside door of the freezer side are a bit too small. But, all things considered, it's a great unit and I'd probably buy it again, considering the price.

I purchased this GE Profile dishwasher last June, I paid $1,499.00 for it and have had three (3) service calls. The first one said the water is not hot enough, the second one said run the water in sink and get hot before you use the dishwasher. The tech was here again this morning and called in to tech services and was told put plates on the right side of the rack only and the dishes will get clean. Are they kidding me? I called the 800 number for customer service and was told by Dominic (rep in customer service) that they would replace the dishwasher and allow me a 40% discount on a new one because this one is working as designed. It is my understanding that the dishwasher should wash dishes, so that tells me it is not working as designed. I want a new dishwasher, preferably one that washes the dishes and not one that I have to pay an additional 60%. Are you kidding me? This is not right. I have read the reviews on this dishwasher and it seems everyone who purchased the dishwasher I have are having the same problems and it is not working as designed. Please let me know asap when the replacement dishwasher will be delivered. I will not pay an additional 60% for another. It is not right that you would keep making excuses until warranty runs out. I notified you of this problem one month after I purchased it and I have lived with this problem for almost one year and now you tell me that you will give me a discount on a new one. I have already paid for a new dishwasher and that is what I expect in return. Thank you. I expect to hear from you soon.

He told me it is the dishwasher dripping water. All my cabinets, my tiles are wet inside. I have called and report it and today a technician was coming to repair it (which I will not accept.) I want a peace of mind. I need a new working dishwasher. Today, the technician was supposed to call me before arriving and I was 5 minutes away and left. Now, your customer service reps are telling me to wait till Tuesday. I am having guests and my house is a mess, I have the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen, everything is stinking to humidity and all happens because of this BAD PRODUCT. We bought a GE cafe series microwave (model/serial number: pnm919sf1ss/gd235771b) and 4 months later it ceased to function. We just had a remodel and for the first time had an expensive, over the oven microwave and were very excited. Unfortunately, unlike the 2 cheap microwaves weve purchased in the last 36 years, this one we had used for 3 months total, developed problems. The motor seemed to surge and then it would go off. Half an hour later it came back on but would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I called GE and they arranged for a local company to come take a look. They insisted on a 4 hour window and fortunately my husband is retired so he could be there. The repairman came and didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. He called his boss who talked him through diagnostics. After an hour he left, saying hed be back in a week with some new parts. Again we had to wait the 4 hour window. He came in and we were on pins and needles hoping he wouldnt scratch our cabinets as he took the unit down. He replaced the microwave component and when he left it worked. Two days later it again died. I called the repair people and they told me I had to call GE to get permission for another attempt at repair. I called GE and they said I had to call customer service to file a report. They told me I had to make an appointment for a technician to come out to see if the microwave could be repaired. Really??? The technician would try to repair it again or decide it couldnt be repaired and needed to be replaced. Like we have nothing better to do than wait for these repair people who have no clue as to how to repair the microwave. Every time they take down the microwave they risk ruining our cabinets. It was so unhelpful. I am really disappointed in GE customer service. We had to go out and buy a microwave to use while we were waiting for the repair. They obviously dont care that we cant use their expensive product. Our replacement microwave was $40 from Walmart and works beautifully. We finally complained to our WONDERFUL contractor who originally purchased the microwave for us and he is replacing it with a new one. He was appalled by GEs treatment. He takes note of appliances that are crap so he can warn customers. I thought I was buying from a reputable company and thinking we were getting a great and special product. Too bad.

Were using a white GE Digital Microwave Oven at home Model No. JEI2870SPSS. We got it from Ansons a few months ago when our previous Kyowa was broken beyond repair. The price is reasonable, the usable space inside is adequate and the exterior design goes well with our kitchen. It has touchpad controls which are very easy to use especially with the pre-programmed settings like steam cook and snacks. So far it has worked very well. Its quite excellent at defrosting meat and evenly heats our food. We have no problem cleaning it and its pretty silent when in use. I hope this one lasts us longer since its pricier than the Kyowa and because use of the microwave less these days because they say the radio waves emitted by these machines cause cancer.

Fourteen months after buying my new built-in GE Profile Microwave/Convection, it stopped heating. I was told by GE that it was not under warranty. I paid close to $300 to an appliance service operation locally to fix my nearly $1,000.00 GE built-in (depending on the microwave to help feed four kids under the age of nine). So, about 13 months later I had another heating issue and I called the appliance service operation and they found another problem with the microwave. They said it was a faulty piece of equipment, replaced it and didnt charge me since they were local and said this shouldnt have happened (knew I was recently divorced and took pity on me). Almost 18 months after this, so three years after the purchase, the microwave started to act up again - it continues to work even after you open the microwave. Just dealt with it since it still worked. However, 6 months later, the microwave now doesnt heat. The power is on, and nothing happens inside. This started a week ago, but it was off and on. Now its dead. Never buying a GE anything. Ive got to buy a microwave and a refrigerator in the next six months. It is NOT going to be a GE!

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. I am sorry now that I bought my GE stove and refrigerator now because they match the micro.

I own a GE over the stove Microwave that spontaneously turned on while I was sleeping. Once the unit was running for a bit, it caught on fire. The tech never did anything to find out what caused the problem. Instead he was just looking to see if the unit was salvageable. He condemned the unit, and GEs solution was a $25 rebate on the next one of their products I would purchase. The liability GE would have been up for if I were not home would have been astronomical. My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

We moved into our home just over a year ago. We replaced all of the kitchen appliances; refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher with GE slate gray appliances. This was in November, 2014. On New Years eve (2016), the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. I removed the kick panel and saw water pouring from the pump. After the holiday, we finally got in touch with the appliance repair shop who handles GE warranty work in our area. They contacted GE on our behalf to see if GE would stand behind a product that was just over 1 month out of warranty. Bear in mind, this wasnt something simple like an indicator light burning out, this failure was catastrophic. GE basically told them (and us) to pound sand. We are a 2 person family. The dishwasher was used maybe twice a week during the year weve owned it. Amazing quality! Now Im looking forward to watching the rest of this stuff fall apart. It looks like the life span of the product and the warranty period are the same. How handy for GE. They must not have to depend on repeat business or take these negative reviews seriously.
