After only 4 hours of installation, the microwave turned on and the fan and light came on. It was not cooking anything. Inside of microwave was hot and I could smell a burnt electronics smell. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and when I plugged it in, it started up again. The LCD screen was scrambled, all lit up. Opening the door stopped the unit, but it started again when I plugged it in.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

The dishwasher is poor quality. Top is thin, top dish rack has trouble with tall glasses. Bottom rack doesnt slide in and out well. The power cord and water cords are too short. They are 2 ft shorter than our previous model dishwasher. Top was loose when delivered and had the wrong screw in one of the holes. The hose and cords are difficult to hook up because they are so short. We cant fit as many dishes in as our previous model of the same size and the unbiased reviewers are saying its washing quality is poor. We havent had it long and hate it. Home Depot wont take returns on portable dishwashers though. Out lots of money on this. This GE is thin plastic trash that costs lots of money with no return.

Bought a new GE microwave cafe series in May 2014. Within one month the handle which was not stainless steel started to peel and cut my wifes hand. GE sent a replacement new door for the unit that did not close. Then he had to transplant the handle from the new door to the old door. A month later the unit failed. A new replacement unit took 2 months to replace. It has worked 3-4 weeks and has also now totally failed. Our experience with GE CAFE microwave and GE service process is poor to miserable. I would not recommend this product or their service to anyone.

Bought the new dishwasher in Dec. 2013. In November 2014 a month shy of warranty expire, the detergent dispenser did not release or partially released the detergent. GE sent out A&E Factory service to fix. First visit initiated the parts order which was a new computer board and a Cascade Series detergent dispenser. A month later the second visit to install parts, the A&E tech was at our home for 3 hours and it took that long to remove and replace detergent dispenser. The tech did not replace computer board stating it was not needed? A week later the detergent dispenser still did not release the detergent! Called back to set up another appointment which was at the earliest Jan 19th 2015. Meanwhile last Friday Jan. 9th 2015 the dishwasher started to smoke heavily causing smoke detector to go off at 9 p.m. at night. Thank goodness!! We were home so that I could disconnect the power. Third visit was 1/12/15 and was informed by Lead A&E tech that the board should have been replaced and that the tech that was sent out was a trainee and inexperienced to work on my dishwasher. He should of never worked on my dishwasher(!!) according to the Lead A&E tech. The Lead A&E tech also stated that my model has had a problem with the computer boards which is essentially the brain of the dishwasher. I am currently taking my fight back to GE since A&E Factory is a subcontractor to GE and is not authorized to replace appliances. I told GE that I want a new dishwasher that is not using the problem computer boards even if it is an upgrade. It is not our fault that they have work with A&E who send out inexperienced techs to work on complicated GE appliances. We want a dishwasher that we both feel safe to run while we are not home. Is that too much to ask for?

I purchased this dishwasher on April 2018 and from the beginning was not working well. I called a technician about 2 months ago, came with the computer and told me it is working fine, but my dishes are never well cleaned. Anyway on Nov 27, 2018 the water started coming out from my tiles and I didnt understand why? I kept drying and it kept dripping. I was so worried and called a handyman. He told me it is the dishwasher dripping water. All my cabinets, my tiles are wet inside. I have called and report it and today a technician was coming to repair it (which I will not accept.) I want a peace of mind. I need a new working dishwasher. Today, the technician was supposed to call me before arriving and I was 5 minutes away and left. Now, your customer service reps are telling me to wait till Tuesday. I am having guests and my house is a mess, I have the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen, everything is stinking to humidity and all happens because of this BAD PRODUCT. I want this trash to be exchange as soon as possible.

I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005.
I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

Purchased new GE dishwasher after previous model lasted over 11 years. Family eats most meals and home and typically runs washer at least 4 times per week. New model was upgrade with stainless steel interior and all the efficiency upgrades from technology advances. Ran great for first 18 months then suddenly we opened one morning and notices water standing in bottom of machine. Emptied dishes, re-ran with same result. Technician called and spent an hour diagnosing to determine water pump, control board and wash motor would all need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $600 or 75% of what we paid for the unit new less than 2 years ago. Simply unacceptable that GE would produce such an unreliable product. We will be replacing with a different brand and would tell anyone to avoid GE dishwashers.

This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five year
This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

We purchased a GE Profile Dishwasher from PC Richards & Sons in 2012. We purchased the extended warranty. The top of the door started to rust on left side within the first year. Death in family and called just after warranty ran out. The rust turned into a little hole. Door replacement was no longer available when I emailed GE directly this year. GE Representative sent me a $50 rebate to use to buy another GE. The dishwasher works wonderfully but appearance is awful. I will never buy another GE appliance.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

Ive had this dishwasher for about 3 1/2 years now, and never have I been so dissatisfied with a product. I gave a review then, was contacted by a GE rep, followed their guidelines, even had a GE rep come out and review the problems. We changed our hot water temp, when we did dishes (not during clothes washing), checked to make sure the blades are not hindered, changed soap to Finish Gel (works best), added rinse aid. There is just not enough water to rinse off the dishes. Period. I do not add more heat/dry, and use Sanitize and Steam 99% of the time. What happens is the food sticks to the dishes and melds into them, causing permanent discoloration. This is no pot scrubber. It does no scrubbing! I have to wash my pots every time after I clean them in the dishwasher even if I pre-scrub them clean before washing! Sometimes the food from other dishes or the soap dumps onto the clean pot and makes it dirty! There should be a lawsuit against this company for this product. Its horrible! BUYER BEWARE! This rating should really be a 0 (zero)! Sorry I am not submitting proof of purchase from that time. We remodeled our kitchen in 2012.

Our brand new GE Profile dishwasher wasnt cleaning dishes (even after rinsing them before stacking them in the dishwasher). GE technician came several times and lectured me how I need to open hot water faucet before turning on the dishwasher, about how I should stack the dishes in the dishwasher, etc... all bogus talk. Our builder was kind enough to replace the dishwasher because he saw how frustrating it was to deal with GE service. The new GE Profile (i.e. replaced by builder) works without opening hot water faucet, or washing the dishes or stacking them in any particular manner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend GE Products because GE service is HORRIBLE and their products arent that great. I have GE Profile all over my kitchen. I moved in to a newly-built home in Nov. 2010. Shortly after, my GE Profile microwave seemingly caught fire. We called for service and were offered a repair free of charge. We declined a repair and did receive a brand new appliance of the same model. Around June 2012, the exact same fire happened to the new one. I must admit that it took me about 9 months to report the problem because my family had been devastated with a lengthy illness and passing of my mother. While going through our trial, I shut down my mothers apartment and just started to use her countertop microwave. Realizing that I needed to address the problem with my microwave, I called and explained this to GE service. I guess that the representative was just doing her job and stated the year warranty spiel and had no concern of this being my second microwave within a two and a half year span and also the length of time that it had not been working. I was immediately given the cost for a serviceman to come out plus I was told that I would have to pay for any parts. When I went to Home Depot to price the microwave; the cost for my model was $278. I therefore decided. Why bother to have a defected model repaired? Who needs the aggravation? I will just eat my loss and buy another microwave. Be assured that it will not be a GE. I will never again buy a General Electric product.

I know that I should have given up on it a long time ago, but in the past I always had good luck with GE appliances. Needless to say, I will never buy anything from GE again. I just dont know how to start to show how disappointed and upset Im about this Microwave. I know GE is good brand but this Microwave must be the worst. I bought this microwave between July or August in 2016. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt. I bought a cash at Home Depot in my area, because I bought it cash Home Depot unable to find a record of but they remembered I did buy there between that time. I know bought that time because I bought my house in July 20116. This microwave started giving problems since June 2017. When I call GE they told me, they cant help because I dont a receipt, and they told from their record, this microwave was purchase in January 2015, they didnt want to believe that I purchased it in 2016.They charged over $100 to have a technician to come, he has to order a part that cost as well over $100, when the part comes another technician came. It was the wrong part. He had to order another part. The technician came back and Microwave work for only 1 or 2 months and stop working. Its been very stressful with this Microwave. This microwave was the most expensive, I bought over $500-600. Even though from your record you said I bought it in 2015, it still unfair, no one expect to buy something that expensive and break down that fast. I dont what to do. Im just so frustrated about the whole situation. This microwave cost me about $ 1,000 now from price to repair, and yet still not working. I wish someone reply to me and help me, if no one help I never wish to buy a GE product. So Sad GE, I need HELP.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

I bought GE Profile appliances 5 years ago. The dishwasher motor needs a new one. It cost me $300.00 to fix and I ended up buying a new dishwasher, of course, no more GE. Six months ago, my GE profile fridge is not making ice. It cost me $300.00 to fix. Now, the freezer is not working right. I was told another $300+ to fix. I went out and bought a new fridge. Back to basic, Kenmore brand. GE profile is not inexpensive and only last 5 years, starting to break down. Please stay away from this company.

GE Dishwasher Model GLD7400R10BB - Remodeled my kitchen about 2 1/2 years ago and replaced all my appliances with GE appliances. I noticed that every now and then my dishwasher wasnt starting or running through a full cycle. I had called the GE repairman because my microwave was not heating up and asked him to take a look at my dishwasher as well. After hearing it was going to cost me $500.00 to fix my still under warranty microwave and the control board was no good and very expensive to replace because my one year warranty had past on my dishwasher, I will never invest in the money hog GE ever again! Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. That LG cost $42,000 for a new kitchen and months of contractors and work. Washing dishes by hand is looking better every day... Think about it.

Have owned, installed, and repaired many dishwashers throughout the years at various houses. This GE unit is by far worst dishwasher that I have ever had the displeasure to install and operate, and it replaces a Kitchen Aid unit that started a fire, see **. Specifically the GE unit had the control panel break off due to misalignment, requiring repair, the drain bulkhead fitting was poorly designed and caused a leak, requiring repair, the water solenoid valve failed in the 2nd year, and finally the door does not lock closed without significant care and attention to alignment and requires many attempts to lock closed for the start of cycle. This is the worst and I cant wait to pull it out and replace it.

Or, if I had left the room while it was on. Immediately after turning the unit on, it started making loud electrical arcing noises and flashing light. I had just placed a microwave safe glass dish inside. I removed that and tested again with nothing inside. Same thing happened. I next thoroughly cleaned the unit. Tried again. Same thing happened. I had paid a little more for this unit than the usual believing it would be worth it. It clearly was not.

I bought a GE dishwasher model #GDF570SSJSS from Sears. It was delivered on Thursday, installed Friday (by myself and a daughter) and the first test run produced nasty, dirty dishes. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes for it to declare that the cycle was finished and the dishes were clean. Fortunately I did not opt for the drying cycle. Or else the nasty crud would have been baked on. I called GE service and they scheduled a Monday service call. Monday, a very nice man hooked the unit up to his computer and found nothing wrong. He then placed a plexiglass door on the unit so he could watch the cycle. He found that the connection to the upper arm was not attached. He snapped it into place and declared that it was fixed. While I watched through the plexiglass door I was appalled that the reason that the GE dishwashers are so quiet is that the washing spray is extremely gentle. The technician seemed very proud of how quiet the units are. I told him that I could get my dishes cleaner if I spread them on the lawn and used a water hose sprayer. He was not amused. I chatted with him and asked several questions and learned some interesting facts. The lower and upper spray arms and the top rain action do not all happen at once. First the lower arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the upper arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the top rain action happens. This cycles over and over until the machine thinks the dishes are clean. I asked why there wasnt a hurricane inside the unit scrubbing my dishes? He said that the motor is a DC motor, I asked how many volts, he said 12.After he left I filled the machine up with dishes I had saved over the weekend for the test. The machine ran for 2 hours + (I forgot to write down the start time). The end result was nasty, dirty dishes that I washed in the sink afterward. So the new dishwasher looks just like the old dishwasher but let me tell you, she is not happy at having the worthless piece of junk sitting nearby and doing nothing while she is sweating over a sink full of dishes. When Im not quite so angry in a few days I will have a conversation with Sears to try to resolve this.

I may be speaking too soon because I need to run my dishwasher again to make sure the minor leak truly has been fixed, but I am very impressed with the responsiveness of GE customer support. There was virtually no wait to talk to a rep about my 2-month-old dishwasher with a drip (plus water was collecting inside). Less than twenty four hours after my call, a friendly man was at my door to fully diagnose and then correct the issue. This was the cheapest, bottom-of-the line model that they so quickly came to service! Now in an ideal world, a new dishwasher wouldnt need any servicing at all, but I think all dishwashers are pretty finicky so at the moment, Im pleased.

Purchased this dishwasher March of 2015. We have had at least five service calls because it does not clean the dishes. Glasses with just water in them when they went in the dishwasher come out dirtier than they went in. Residue is worse on the glasses, but other dishes are not getting completely cleaned. Forget it if something is stuck on, if you dont prewash, you are washing them again. GE has replaced numerous pieces, blamed our water was too hard until they found out we had a water softener and water system and then blamed that instead. We have changed soaps (five different brands), tried every setting in multiple ways, turned off the water system and just had the water softener run, turned everything off and nothing improves the quality of the clean. GE has even refused to pay the service technicians that they GE sent out to repair the dishwasher. Now we cant get anyone to come look at it because they are afraid they wont get paid. We have had three dishwashers prior to this one and have never had an issue with the dishes coming clean. We have maintained that there is not enough water pressure to rinse the dishes, but they are adamant this is not the case. Regardless, the dishes are still not coming clean. All we want is for it to be fixed, replaced or our money refunded. GE customer service is terrible.

My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

It is only June 2015 and it had been repaired for more than 4 times. Ill try through Home Depot to get a replacement, if not Im planning to go through consumer court and file case against GE Profile. I would appreciate if somebody can help in resolving this issue and you can contact me through my email.

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. In 2012 we purchased a GE microwave for around $500.00. It lasted with moderate use until 2017 at which point, it almost burned our house down due to malfunctions of internal parts. After many hours on the phone and several repair visits, GE agreed to replace it. The replacement lasted until March of 2020, at which point it started tripping our breaker. I took a half day off of work waiting on a repair technician. The technician came out and replaced a switch. Two hours after he left, the microwave stopped working. I called GE back and was given another repair appointment, again taking a half day off of work, I waited for the technician. That evening, we noticed that the internal light would not shut off when we closed the microwave door. Two days later the microwave started producing a burning smell whenever we used it.I went out and purchased a $50.00 microwave from Walmart. This experience has been beyond what is reasonable for a customer to experience. I have received numerous automated emails from GEs consumer relations department from a GE consumer relations employee that is allegedly been responsible for my case. We bought a GE dishwasher a little over 3 years ago. In the last week of September we awoke to the smell of hot or melted plastic. We found the source to be the dishwasher. I had loaded and started it before going to bed the night before. The counter-top above the dishwasher was stove top hot and upon opening the dishwasher found that a cutting board that we have had for many years and have always put in the dishwasher had melted on top of the heating coil. Dishwasher safe items on the top rack melted as well. It had been drying for at least 9 hours. After pulling the dishwasher out we saw the heat shield had melted and was crumbling. We contacted GE, sent them all the pictures and they told us it was not a safety issue. Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchased and installed in 2009. First off the exhaust fan is terrible and is very noisy. The product itself worked well until recently when now the microwave heats intermittently, one time it will come on and heat, next time nothing. The fan runs, but no heating. The truly frustrating part is I need the front venting and no other units have the vents that blow the air outward, all the new units blow the air straight up your cabinets. Certainly a high end unit should last longer than 5 years with only two adults using it now and then. The cost of the service is outrageous and I surely would not use the $100 rebate on another GE product if they do not last any better than this one.

I purchased the GE Cafe dishwasher in March 2010. Starting in January 2012, some of the keypad options stopped working. Then in April 2012, the keypad stopped working completely and I could no longer get it to turn on. I did call GE for repair. When the repair person was out to fix it, they said that this model has a design flaw. It was originally designed to sit 1 below the countertop so that the heat could release without shorting out the keypad. However, that would require a person to somehow raise their entire counter or fit the dishwasher below the floor somehow. GE was aware of the problem but decided to ignore the problem. That means that even though my keypad was replaced, the same problem will occur again and again no matter how many times the keypad is replaced. I paid over $1400 for this model, and the labor charges alone cost me $200 for the repair. I think it is absolutely despicable that such a large company has allowed a high-priced, defective product to go out into the market, knowing that a major malfunction will occur out of warranty in such a short period of time.

This General Electric Dishwasher is by far the worst dishwasher I have ever used in my life. It does not clean dishes no matter how well you stack the machine with your dirty dishes and utensils. I can always count on having to rewash at least 10 dishes and or utensils for each load that I wash in this dishwasher. Also, the detergent dispenser does not empty completely.

I purchased a microwave in Oct 2010. It went blank and nothing works. I checked to see if its receiving power. The power is okay. I purchased the microwave, fridge and stove at the same time. I always had confidence in GE products. Microwave should have lasted longer than less than 2 years. I didnt purchase extended warranty because of GEs reputation. Very dissatisfied customer.

We installed a GE Spacemaker Microwave Oven /Range Hood in 2005. We used it mainly for the overhead light over the range, the timer, the vent fan, and only occasionally to microwave vegetables. On 8/5/2011, I put a dish of eggplant in a glass dish to heat up and the microwave shut down completely to the point that I had to check the circuit breaker to see if the switch was shut off. The microwave and everything associated with it is dead.

I have a GE dishwasher installed by our builder. It is 6 yrs. old and for 6 yrs. it has been a problem. I already had it serviced in last years recall and now I get another notice. It is located close to our TV viewing area. and is so noisy. I hate to run it when we are watching TV. I would never buy another GE. We are also having problem with our GE double oven. I ruined several holiday dinners before realizing the temperature was 75 degrees where it should be. A replacement part is almost a $1,000. I would never ever buy another GE appliance.

I purchased a new GE over the oven microwave to replace a 10-year old Spacemaker unit. After three weeks of use with no issues, the unit overheated excessively during a normal use. The heat was so intense that the pegs that hold the racks melted causing a severe burn on my sons thumb. I unplugged the unit fearing further injuries and/or fire. Are GE products manufactured poorly or did I get a lemon? Who knows? Anyone else have a similar issue? I am still waiting for GE to respond.

I purchased a GE Dishwasher 3 months ago and it has been broke (wont drain) for almost a month. I tried to schedule a service through GE since it is under the warranty and they never showed up for the second time. I called and complained but it is not just the product, their service is even worst than the product. I am going to take the unit to Home Depot and ask for a refund or exchange with another brand. It is suppose to be brand new and wont drain or can we get a service scheduled. Never buying this brand again.

Ever since I bought this dishwasher in Jan 2014 it hasnt dried properly. Finally had a tech come out and he told me the water wasnt hot enough. How is it energy efficient if I have to raise the heat in my water heater to get the dishes to dry???? Very dissatisfied! My old dishwasher (with plastic lining) dried the dishes with no problem. I had it for 16 years before I had any problems with it. This new one is a problem from the first time I used it. No GE ever again!

I have had my GE dishwasher for over 5 years. It was cycle is a little long but it gives me a wonderful clean wash. You will need to use cascade complete dishwashing tablets giving you a clean and food free dishes. This dishwasher is easy to load with no breaking racks and plenty of silverware storage. Minimum care and needs service on a maintenance schedule, probably once every year.

According to the label in my GE Sensor microwave oven, it was manufactured in October 2010. I dont know how long after that time I purchased it. The paint on the ceiling is falling off and what hasnt fallen off is bubbling up over the entire surface, exposing bare metal. There is also missing paint on the floor of the oven. I called GE today and was told by a representative that it is a fire hazard and I should stop using it. She said I must have used a harsh chemical, but I have used nothing but dish detergent and water on paper towels. There should be a recall of these ovens, and GE needs to improve the quality of the paint. The microwave is not that old, and this should not have happened!

Our microwave is of poor quality. Unit failed completely after a couple of years in use, like many GE products. This GE unit had a large rotating platter and easy controls, but it just stopped operating one day. Nothing could get it going again, so we replaced it with a Samsung microwave which appears to function well (only a year into use, so no way to know yet) although platter is smaller and controls not as convenient.

Have used GE dishwashers before - were good. However GE no longer makes them, its just a name - now made by MABE (part of HAIER), Mexican with Chinese ownership, and this new one arrived with a factory fault - cracked tub which leaked immediately. Cracked tub seam and leak found immediately by service tech GEs site referred. Good news is the leak detector worked! Bad news - is we didnt install it right away (old one still worked and pandemic...) so it was a year before we got to it (was partly a gift). So - now MFR Mabe is giving us the run around and so far not doing anything about the faulty dishwasher they mfd and shipped through Home Depot. Dont be fooled as we were - GE is not actually GE anymore and the mfr HAIER/MABE are doing nothing to correct a factory mfg fault.

We bought a brand new GE dishwasher from our local hardware store on Black Friday. It was $600 dishwasher on sale. It was installed on December 5th, it broke on December 6th, and we had a repair man come out to take a look at it. To be fair, the local hardware store did ask if we wanted to replace (2 week wait time) or repair (2 day wait time) it. Since it was a bolt that was severed (by opening the door to the machine, mind you), we figured it would be an easy fix. The first technician who visited said, Yeah, its broken. I have to order a new bolt and then come back out in a week to fix it. And oh, by the way, Ill have to drill a new hole for it too. Thats when I called GE customer service to request a new product. But since my 48 hour window had passed, and we opted to have it fixed, it was keep it or ask our local hardware store to replace it at their expense. I bit the bullet and just had it repaired. Now, less than 2 months later, the technician has been at our house three times. He’s soon to have a fourth visit because we need a new dispense modulator. After speaking with customer service several more times, and with a not very nice lady in the Chairmans office, I still have a defective product. Oh, did I mention that Im paid hourly and have now taken off 13 hours? So what’s the use of that $600 dishwasher that we bought? Its been out of commission for more than 2 weeks, in less than 2 months, and has now cost us $900. Thanks, GE! We’re so glad to see you stand behind your product.

Second GE Spacesaver Microwave - It is a total mystery, no clock, no light, no fan, no power. We replaced a GE Spacesaver that came with our house with a new GE Spacesaver Adora (Model DVM1850DM4WW). It has been in use for less than 2 years and has been used only a few times per week. I have a Sharp Carousel II that we use in our basement. It gets as much use as the new GE. It is 28 years old, and works fine every day. This is the second GE product and this one lasted less than 2 years. Ill never buy another GE product. I was trying to support an American company. Anyone know a good one that makes microwaves?

Last fall, we updated our kitchen counters to quartz, and the Jenn-Air to a GE induction cooktop. While it is indeed pricey, the joy of cooking is not overstated here. The quick heat up, the ease of controlling the heat more precisely, and the easy clean up makes this unit well worth it. I love it!

The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating
I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating and recommendation of the salesman. Worst dishwasher I have ever had by far (in 27 years)! Salesman didnt know it doesnt have a water heater. It worked so poorly I had a company repairman to look at the dishwasher within a week of delivery. He recommended we run the sink water until boiling before turning it on, always use normal power, steam and boost settings. The cutlery is still often dirty - you have to scrub all food off the cutlery and rinse until clean before putting it into the dishwasher. A year later, the dishwasher is not nearly as quiet and a cycle takes 4 hours. Because of the design, this machine loads quite a bit less than my old dishwasher. Overall, I am sure this dishwasher uses way more energy and I use more cycles per week. I wouldnt take this dishwasher if they were giving them away for free!

We purchased a black over the stove microwave from GE, the oven has great preset buttons and it extremely easy to use. It looks sleek and works great. The only issue we have had was a few months after purchase we tried to change the bulb for one of the lights and the entire mechanism crumbled and fell out so we only have one light now over the stove. Disappointing but everything else works great.

Consistent with many reviews about poor customer service and saga to try to
Consistent with many reviews about poor customer service and saga to try to get an appliance fixed, we experienced a very situation with their microwave. Power is on but doesnt heat food. 5 visits later and multiple calls to GE became a string of technicians having to order a part, waiting at least a week to receive the part and technician trying to fix it. For 2 weeks the microwave worked and then stopped working. Called GE again, and again they insist on having technician come by to diagnose the same problem. We put our foot down and asked for a replacement and were denied because it wasnt deemed to be irreparable. I stayed online until they offered a discount on a new microwave and they then took more than a week to send that and also proceed to take the old one which not convinced they were entitled to take given we had to purchase a new one. Completely inefficient process, customer service agents who are in and unfortunate enough to follow an inefficient process that is not focused on the consumer. Really unfortunate for a top tier company whose mission is centered around the customer but fall down on execution. Really disappointing. Im glad that we live a in capitalist state that allows us to have other choices and not feel stuck with one brand. The cost of our time and stress and technicians hourly wage is disproportionately greater than the 300 dollar retail price tag for the machine.

Microwave Model HVM1540LP1CS... This microwave was installed 6 years ago when I built my home. I live by myself and the microwave has only been used by me. I loved this microwave until suddenly it began to turn on by itself and I would often hear popping noises. I looked up reviews of this GE microwave and found that this is a frequent problem with GE microwaves. Fires were reported in a couple of reviews so I immediately unplugged mine, as a safety precaution. If this happens frequently with these microwaves, why isnt GE replacing the parts for the defective machines since they can be fire hazards?

Purchase date 4/20/15; Model # GDT 580 SMF ES; Serial # VD776355; Dishwasher wasnt installed until the end of June upon completion of a complete kitchen renovation. Eight months later, on March 1, 2016, the dishwasher was leaking water all over the kitchen! I initiated a service call and the repair man replaced the seal and it has worked without leaking until April 13, 2016. AGAIN a very large amount of water poured out of the left side of the door. The repair man had to return 3 more times and finally didnt have a leak for almost another year. Now, June 1, 2017 my kitchen is once again flooded. This machine is garbage - Very expensive garbage. Dont waste your money! I had previously purchased from Sears and never had a water leak in a machine that was 20 years old.
