This review is of a low end dishwasher with simple controls. It has a plastic tub. The racks seem poorly designed. Bowls are hard to fit in. It cleans competently if it has hot water when it starts and a high quality detergent. Its basic and does the job. Pretty quiet too.

We purchased a GE Profile Microwave with our GE Profile range in 2010. In 2016 we noticed an area on the bottom of the back wall that was peeling. It is in an area where nothing is rubbing or touching it. After taking photos and contacting GE customer service I was offered a discount on a replacement microwave. I expressed my concern that a new microwave might do the same thing--peel. I was told that the newer microwaves have a moisture resistant paint. The area that has peeled is much larger now than is shown in the attached photo taken in 2016. I expected my oven to last longer than 6 years; its a GE Profile and we take excellent care of our appliances.

We sent the rebate form in, and they denied our claim. It was for a dishwasher that was recalled. We had to buy another one and only received $100 for the rebate after having to spend $500 on a dishwasher, but the rebate was denied! Unbelievable. We have written GE and the FTC with no response.

Purchased my GE Profile series dishwasher several years ago and it has served me well over countless cycles. There have been a couple of occasions that it required repairs (water leaking) but had been done so under warranty conducted by an actual GE tech. When this unit finally reaches its usable service life I’m most likely to consider a GE unit again.

We bought a GE dishwasher a little over 3 years ago. In the last week of September we awoke to the smell of hot or melted plastic. We found the source to be the dishwasher. I had loaded and started it before going to bed the night before. The counter-top above the dishwasher was stove top hot and upon opening the dishwasher found that a cutting board that we have had for many years and have always put in the dishwasher had melted on top of the heating coil. Dishwasher safe items on the top rack melted as well. It had been drying for at least 9 hours. After pulling the dishwasher out we saw the heat shield had melted and was crumbling. We contacted GE, sent them all the pictures and they told us it was not a safety issue. We have no doubt that if we had not woken up so early we would have had a fire in our house caused by the dishwasher.

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

However this dishwasher is junk and I based on my experience I would not recommend this product to anyone!

We usually turn on the dishwasher in the night. Last month ours started smelling smoke in the morning 6:00 am. When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Even after seeing pics, their tech review and the whole incident, their engineers determined this is not a safety hazard to me or my family.

PVM1870SMC ($580 plus tax/Cost CDN). I bought all new GE Profile units in mid 2010 for my new house. I spent $7000, plus tax, for 4 items from a reputable company in Hannon Ontario. I bought a Fridge, Dual fuel range, Dishwasher and last the Microwave, model stated above.About 6 months back it started acting funny, but thought not too much of it as it was very intermittent. Today the Microwave will NOT seem to shut off after it beeps from cooking/warming up food and the door is open then closed. I close the door and it starts to hums. If food is in it, you can see it is still cooking. I open the door, and then close it again and it starts to Humming as soon as the door closes. The glass tray does not turn, nor does the light go on (when humming) as it does when you actually push the start button. If you do start it, everything works, that is the table turns, light goes on and it cooks/warms food etc. Then it beeps when done, you open the door to remove items, close the door, and again just starts humming.I unplug it for an hour, but as soon as you plug back in, again.. Hums until you open the door. I put a cup of water in it, and just closed the door, did not push the start button. After about 40 seconds, the water started to boil.

We had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when the house we live in was built and it was one of the ones which were recalled as a fire hazard. We didnt really have any issues with it though, other than it was a bit noisy. With the credit offered, we decided to upgrade to a high end Profile model. The sound proofing is impressive and it was actually hard to tell the unit was on, but that is the only thing you can say that is good about the machine. As a dishwasher, it fails miserably and often items come out dirtier than when they went in. OK, weve struggled on with that for some time now but today, a nasty burnt plastic smell brought us both to the kitchen to investigate. Sure enough, the replacement for the fire hazard was the culprit. Obviously, it will need some serious repairs before it is safe to use once more. Looking through this and other sites, it seems this problem is rife and GE is reluctant to deal with the issues. Well I think that will be our last GE appliance. Thank you very much and rather than throw good money after bad, we will put the repair costs towards another machine ABGE.

After speaking with Home Depot employees, GE service scheduler and finally Consumer Relations, that person agreed to schedule a repairman to come to our home and repair the microwave no charge. Bought our GE Microwave (DVM1850DMWW) from Home Depot about 5-6 years ago. I can see a unit just failing; but to start burning, smoking and smelling is non-excusable. We were lucky enough to be in the kitchen at the time and catch the problem before it escalated. While the unit was just ok while it worked, potentially burning down our kitchen is inexcusable regardless of age. Time for a range hood and a small countertop model. A non-GE model.

GE had recalls on models 8500 and 8700 due to the motor catching fire but not my 8600 which is right in between. So besides it being the worst working dishwasher weve owned by not even cleaning well, the unit catches fire and almost burns my house down and GE wants to give me a credit toward buying another fire trap as opposed to replacing it because its 5 years old. I bought a GE Adora dishwasher from Home Depot. There is nothing technically wrong with it - in other words - it is not malfunctioning. It is just that its normal operation is AWFUL, in my opinion. The PROS: it is very quiet. The CONS: it does not clean your dishes! And since this is the primary function of a dishwasher - I would say it is a complete failure. Originally, I had hard water, and I thought that was probably the issue. I purchased a whole home Kinetico system, which remove almost all particulates from the water, and makes bottled-water-quality drinking water. (On a side-note, I would TOTALLY recommend the Kinetico system!) But even after having the water issues fixed, the dishwasher has NEVER worked properly. I have used every type of dishwasher detergent, including Cascade Complete & Platinum, Finish Ultra & Quantum Powerball... and I have also added rinse agents etc. Basically - whatever state your dishes are in when you put them IN the dishwasher, they will only be slightly improved when you remove them. Even if you SOAK the dishes first, they come out with all kinds of residue. It does an especially horrible job on glassware, but silverware is also terrible. And I have to re-wash by hand every coffee cup that comes out. I truly loathe this machine, and will replace as soon as I do enough research about a better brand & model.

We purchased a GE Cafe Dishwasher in Oct. 2013, and in Nov 2014 we had a major leak that ruined our hardwood floor. We called GE and they authorized a repair even though our Dishwasher was 1 month beyond the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately is now the end of January 2015 and the dishwasher is still not fixed after 4 attempts by their recommended factory authorized repair company. I have called and written numerous documenting the failed attempt and inability of the repair company to fix our dishwasher, and asked for a replacement, and was denied. They have already spent about $900 to pay the repair company, which I would think would have been cheaper to have replaced the dishwasher and had a satisfied customer. So I have now been without an operational dishwasher for 2 months while it sits in the middle of my kitchen floor, as I wait for the cupping in my hardwood floor to lay down so I can get my floor repaired. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the quality of the GE Cafe dishwasher.

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

Have owned, installed, and repaired many dishwashers throughout the years at various houses. This GE unit is by far worst dishwasher that I have ever had the displeasure to install and operate, and it replaces a Kitchen Aid unit that started a fire, see **. Specifically the GE unit had the control panel break off due to misalignment, requiring repair, the drain bulkhead fitting was poorly designed and caused a leak, requiring repair, the water solenoid valve failed in the 2nd year, and finally the door does not lock closed without significant care and attention to alignment and requires many attempts to lock closed for the start of cycle. This is the worst and I cant wait to pull it out and replace it.

I purchased a GE microwave, model LVM1750DPWW, in 2012. It was delivered approximately 12/6/2012 and was installed in July 2013 after our kitchen remodel was complete. In March 2014, my daughter was warming something on the rack when the back upper rear hook started sparking and caught fire. I am thankful the only damage was to the microwave and to the smell in the house for a few days. When I called Lowes and GE, they act like theyve never heard of this issue. Yet, I see many other complaints of the hooks catching fire. Just to be sure, I turned on the microwave again. The hook started sparking immediately. GE sent a repairman to the house who told me that GE ought to let people know not to leave the racks in the oven. Since she was cooking on the rack, it would be difficult not to have the rack in the oven. He said the oven was a safety concern, could not be repaired and that GE would bring out a new microwave and install it for me. Great! I was pleased - yet concerned. A couple days later, I received an email from GE customer service saying that we had put the rack in the oven incorrectly. There is NO way to have put it in incorrectly. Besides that, he couldnt have seen if this was true since the hook was burnt and melted. I am pretty angry.

Ive had this dishwasher for about 3 1/2 years now, and never have I been so dissatisfied with a product. I gave a review then, was contacted by a GE rep, followed their guidelines, even had a GE rep come out and review the problems. We changed our hot water temp, when we did dishes (not during clothes washing), checked to make sure the blades are not hindered, changed soap to Finish Gel (works best), added rinse aid. There is just not enough water to rinse off the dishes. Period. I do not add more heat/dry, and use Sanitize and Steam 99% of the time. What happens is the food sticks to the dishes and melds into them, causing permanent discoloration. This is no pot scrubber. It does no scrubbing! I have to wash my pots every time after I clean them in the dishwasher even if I pre-scrub them clean before washing! Sometimes the food from other dishes or the soap dumps onto the clean pot and makes it dirty! There should be a lawsuit against this company for this product. Its horrible! BUYER BEWARE! This rating should really be a 0 (zero)! Sorry I am not submitting proof of purchase from that time. We remodeled our kitchen in 2012.

Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

Bought a PDT845SSJ2SS in June. Two months later, it has a leak. Good news, has a leak detector which shuts down the machine. Bad news is that it leaks and the leak detector worked! Called GE. We dont have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days. Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday. Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. Shes going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowes and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1. Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that. I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I dont want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE released the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! I assume partial responsibility for this goat rope - I faithfully refer to Consumer Reports when purchasing appliances and electronics. I suggest you do the same... you will find GE listed AFTER BOSCH, KITCHENAID, KENMORE and others. Also, realize the GE brand is now a CHINESE company. Caveat Emptor!

Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! Take a lesson from GM!!!

My microwave also began peeling under the glass within a few years after we purchased it. I contacted GE and they claimed they never heard of that type of complaint before and there was no recall. Updated on 12/30/2018: Again had GE up, said it was not the pump as they stated. Hired a plumber as they requested, pipe not blocked. Changed connections and now the machine has no power. Again have to call for repair. I am sure they will have to order a part or tell me to call an electrician. I am so done. Please beware. Do not buy. Still not been able to use my dishwasher going on 4 weeks and brand new.Original Review: Purchased from Home Depot. I have had it for only one month used 4 times. The water did not drain. Called GE Repair. Guy came down, couldn’t figure out what was going on, said it must be the pump or it could be blocked. He went downstairs, could not find the pipe. Been there since 69...said he is going to order part. Waited 1 week. Then he calls me an hour before he was to be here. Mind you I took off work to be there. He said, “Did you have plumber to come in to see if there is a blockage and he needs to show you where the connection is?” Are you kidding me. I told him I am handicapped and having company for Christmas and I need it. He said he can’t come until I hire a plumber as he can’t find the dishwasher connections. Are you kidding?I said, “Can you come and install the pump and if it doesn’t drain then I will call the plumber.” He said no as he can’t find the connection...I am going to put 150 to have a plumber come when I know it’s the pump not a blockage to have the plumber show me where the dishwasher is connected because the idiot can’t figure it out. I said I need it for Christmas. Nobody working until next Wednesday. Do not get a GE. Poor customer service and to break down a few weeks after purchasing is unacceptable. I had A Bosch for 6 years, never a problem. Plus the lower rack tracks already fell apart. I live by myself and does not get much use. I read the reviews and should have known. The only reason I purchased I needed the bisque color. BUYER BEWARE.

So far it hasnt interfered with the way its working, but were on alert that it might not be too long. Ive owned dishwashers before, one for 32 years, one for 9 years. I have a GE microwave manufactured Nov. 2013, model #JES1456DS1WW, Serial # VA201954 L. I purchased it at Home Depot. I have had it about 2 years. Suddenly it started flashing PF. I unplugged and plugged, and reset the clock several times, but it continued to do this, about 2 days, then just stopped working at all. The GE website listed on the product proclaimed GE Cares; I couldnt seem to find anyone who did despite numerous calls. Six months ago, my GE profile fridge is not making ice. It cost me $300.00 to fix. Now, the freezer is not working right. I was told another $300+ to fix. I went out and bought a new fridge. Back to basic, Kenmore brand. GE profile is not inexpensive and only last 5 years, starting to break down. Please stay away from this company.

My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

Purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM stainless steel dishwasher in December 2013. The dishwasher and install totaled $700, which for that price and with Maytags past reputation, I wrongly assumed that the dishwasher would last a long time. In May 2016, slightly over 2 years, the dishwasher started having issues with the control panel. The control lock would randomly activate. I would have to reset the circuit breaker daily, leaving it off for around 10 minutes. Even with trying to go through all the steps to resolve the issue, resetting it from the circuit breaker, sequence on the control panel, the dishwasher wouldnt work. I called Maytag and after 40 minutes on hold, they finally answered. They wanted $89 for a service call and for the $143 part, plus labor. Might as well just replace it with another brand like GE, or Samsung.

Their service department is absolutely terrible. The motherboard went out after only 8 months of use. They never notified the appliance repair company that the part was back ordered (I had to follow-up on that) and every step of the way I kept being told someone will follow-up in 2-3 business days. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call to check on the status of my claim EVERY time. The request for a replacement dishwasher after two weeks was denied because the part was going to be available in another week, but then I wouldnt receive the part for a minimum of another week after that. When I asked to speak to a superior she refused and told me no one was available. After demanding to speak to one I was told they would contact me in ANOTHER 2-3 business days (well see if that ever happens). This is (still going on) an absolutely awful service experience. I dont care that the dishwasher broke, I care that theyve handled it so poorly.

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

Model JVM1740DP1BB - GE Microwave - complaining since November 2014. Great microwave UNTIL the inside ceiling bubbled and began to flake off in various locations. A service tech that visited our home advised us to call GE and advise them of a potentially hazardous situation. The GE rep offered to sell us a new microwave but only stated that we were out of warranty, although this is clearly a manufacturers defect! She proceeded to tell us the lining was perfectly safe but maybe we shouldnt operate it. However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

I bought a brand new GE Dishwasher GDWT308VBB delivered October 3, 2012 which promised: 5-stage filtration with Piranha hard food disposer, 5 self-cleaning filters ensure clean dishes, dedicated silverware jets, highly pressurized spray jets target the silverware area for improved cleaning; steam prewash - loosens tough soils before any cycle virtually eliminating the need for soaking or pre-rinsing dishes; auto wash cycle - cycle automatically adjusts to soil level to maximize energy savings and ensure clean dishes; natural convection heated dry option, a drying element effectively dries dishes reducing the need to towel dry after unloading; 52 dBA sound level - nearly silent two-pump system cleans dirty dishes without disruption. No matter which cycle or combination of features I use, my dishes have yet to be cleaned. Contrary to advertising above, I do need to rinse dishes prior to cleaning in dishwasher and also rewash dishes after dishwasher cycle is completed. We purchased our new GE Over-the-Range Microwave (model HVM1750DPWW, 1.7 cu. ft.) for $269.00 in February of 2012 and in August of 2013 it started to malfunction. Specifically the microwave would start on its own whenever we would OPEN the door. Now the microwave does not work at all (with the door closed or open). Based on the feedback that I have read in some of the posts on this site, I will replace the microwave since the maker can no longer be trusted to manufacture units that are robust and safe. But what manufacturer can be trusted at this point? It is my understanding that all microwaves (from all major companies) are currently made overseas with poor materials and highly suspect safety and quality standards. I purchased this GE Profile dishwasher last June, I paid $1,499.00 for it and have had three (3) service calls. The first one said the water is not hot enough, the second one said run the water in sink and get hot before you use the dishwasher. The tech was here again this morning and called in to tech services and was told put plates on the right side of the rack only and the dishes will get clean. Are they kidding me? I called the 800 number for customer service and was told by Dominic (rep in customer service) that they would replace the dishwasher and allow me a 40% discount on a new one because this one is working as designed. It is my understanding that the dishwasher should wash dishes, so that tells me it is not working as designed. I want a new dishwasher, preferably one that washes the dishes and not one that I have to pay an additional 60%. Are you kidding me? This is not right. I have read the reviews on this dishwasher and it seems everyone who purchased the dishwasher I have are having the same problems and it is not working as designed. Please let me know asap when the replacement dishwasher will be delivered. I will not pay an additional 60% for another. It is not right that you would keep making excuses until warranty runs out. I notified you of this problem one month after I purchased it and I have lived with this problem for almost one year and now you tell me that you will give me a discount on a new one. We just had a Fire in our GE Microwave, Model # JVM1750SP1SS. Manufactured in August 2010. Purchased at Home Depot in December 2010 and installed January 2011. The right rear shelf hook caught fire while the microwave was in use. Luckily, we saw it in time... We are not sure who to complain to or tell about this. We went on GE.com to inform them of this issue and am waiting for a response. I see here that I am not alone. There is other info being shared on YouTube about this issue as well. GE better make good on this for me. Now I have to find my paperwork... Figure out who will remove this under cabinet installed oven and replace it. I am probably on my own here as it is 3 years old!!

My GE microwave also has paint peeling off the top inside and bottom with rust as well. And cannot be repaired but not one person has said they were sorry or even owned up that it is a fault in paint. This is disgusting to think about this stuff falling into your food!!! This is not safe at all and 10% off new unit is not nearly enough considering they are up to $3000.00 now for microwave/oven unit.GE does not stand behind their products and it shows!!!!

When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

I was heating up some Mexican food and smelled plastic burning and looked in the microwave and saw one plastic knobs that hold up the metal grill on fire. I blew it out. I have GE repairman come out to see if they could fix it, and he said that happens and they were not responsible for it. I told the repairman to get out of my house as GE has built a product that can burst into flames and will not address that they are at fault.

I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

The flat, firm-press keypad for microwaves just seems dated. Often they get worn out. However, all in all, it does what a microwave is supposed to do and does so efficiently. It’s not the most attractive microwave though.

I notice when cleaning the inside of the microwave that the coating on the top (ceiling) of the microwave has bubbled and cracked and there is a hole in the interior top coating. This unit is about 9 years old, and is a dual unit as the bottom is a convection oven with very little use. Im told I need to replace the microwave. I have never seen bubbled and cracked interior in many years of owning and using this type of appliance. The photo shows the defects in the lining coating. Im really upset about this.

I purchased a GE Spacemaker Microwave model JVM 1750SP1SS from Best Buy in October of 2011. Just a few months after having the microwave, the handle came off. I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

The microwave is small enough for 1 person and yet big enough for a family of 4. I feel it cleans up pretty easily also, inside and out. This is also a stainless steel on the outside, that makes it easy to clean.

GE Profile Microwave/Convection Oven JVM1790WK, over the range unit, CAUGHT ON FIRE while microwaving water for coffee. One of the four prongs that holds the oven grid in place started flaming wildly and smoking after about one minute of microwaving. My whole kitchen has an acrid awful burning smell. This is my second unit for a small kitchen, and I will be lost without this. The first one I had the handle fell off. This one is too dangerous to use. These units cost $600!!! I cannot afford to replace one every few years. Maybe this model and brand is bad news?

I bought a GE stainless steel over the range microwave vented oven in may of 2012. At 24 months, it caught on fire while cooking a bag of popcorn. Fire shot out of the side of the microwave. I shut it off but it still shoots fire out if you try to use. The warranty on this unit is one year. It is unrepairable.

GE Profile microwave PNM1871SM1SS - After 5 years of intermittent use in our second home, the magnetron crapped out. Research finds this to be a chronic problem with them. GE has sold an inferior product & has no intention of making it right with consumers. GE can only fail in the marketplace, soon relegated to just another so-so company struggling to survive. Goodbye GE.

I thought there were food particles between the glass plate and the ring. When I took out the plate, I saw that the paint had bubbled and was peeling off the bottom of the microwave. Extremely unhappy with this. Ive had hand-me-down off brand microwaves that lasted much long than this GE and with NO PROBLEMS until they just rolled over and died. I have all GE appliances in my kitchen and have to say that Ill never buy GE again. Electric stove is a problem, dishwasher a problem. Refrigerator was a problem (when it was new! it was fixed and thankfully is still running well).

Purchased the cafe dishwasher in March. We are now on our second one as the first did not work and now this one does not work. It worked fine for the first couple of months and now it’s doing the same thing as the first one. Pump is on the fritz apparently. Truly disappointed. We owned the cafe dishwasher at our last house and loved it so we made sure that we purchased the same one when we bought our new house.

Dont buy one. I bought two last year. The first one completely died before the 60 days were up. I took it back to Sams club and bought another. The tag inside says it was made February 2011, so its only a year and a half old. Under the carousel, the paint is peeling big time. I wrote GE repeatedly, asking if it was still ok to use it. After ignoring me for quite some time, I got this reply. In the notice, they told me to get Sams club to replace the defective and apparently unusable product they are selling knowing it is defective. I love the part where you cant cook something with too much liquid in it. Who does that when they microwave?Heres what they said: Thank you for contacting GE regarding your microwaves and the paint peeling issue. I did some research on it and found that it a common issue among all brands. Excessive heating of un-covered liquids can create a high amount of condensation that the inside paint is not meant to withstand. Minor chips to the coating on the microwaves interior cavity will not affect the products performance. However, if the coating is actively flaking or peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable), discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. GE does not have an approved method of repair, and the microwave is not repairable. Please return to Sams club for an exchange, if you are still within the one year warranty. If Sams is refusing to accept the return, contact the Sams Club Support Team at 1-877-885-2787. GE will then reimburse Sams club.

I purchased a GE Profile™ 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Sensor Microwave Oven and paid over $500. I have had it 3 years and in the first 6 months it broke. It was under warranty and the $400 fee (door replacement) was covered. Then it broke 1 1/2 years later and I received a quote for $200 in labor plus the cost of parts (no longer under warranty). When the repaid guy walked in the house he said, Oh, one of these. Is it the door? I said no, we already had the door replaced, but his comment was very telling that I purchased garbage. I fixed it myself for $10 - it was a fuse. Then it broke 2 weeks later and I believe it is the fuse again. I contacted GE because I believe I received a lemon and they are willing to give me parts at 50% and nothing more. This was the worst investment decision I ever made and I caution others to not purchase this microwave.

We have a five-year old GE Profile Microwave that has an LCD panel. It is a nice feature, but it has become unresponsive to touch and now will cost us $500 to replace the LCD panel. We will just buy a KitchenAid instead. The LCD panel is not sealed, so when you cook, even using the exhaust fan, the moisture gets up in there and damages the panel. This is such a terrible design. We paid $600 for this microwave thinking it is a good quality appliance. Never buy GE! I was in Best Buy yesterday and told people who were there looking at microwaves. Terrible quality! We have to purchase a whole new microwave hood range now.

I purchased a full suite of GE Monogram Appliances about 5 years ago. All are fine except the microwave which was made in China. The back is rusting out, the inside is chipping at the door and moisture builds up in the door window. This progressive deterioration has taken place over the past 5 years. I paid $420 for the microwave plus $226 for the trim kit. Now, all GE wants to do is sell me a new unit and a new trim kit (will not fit old trim kit). I paid approximately $20,000 for the entire group. I bought GE because I trusted the name. Im stuck with GE if I want to match the remaining appliances. There are only two people living in this house so there is only minimal usage. To further complicate things, there is no serial number on the tag.

The WORST Customer Relations Department & GE Dishwasher EVER
The WORST Customer Relations Department & GE Dishwasher EVER 1. Ordered dishwasher & Scheduled Delivery. 2. After my 4 hour window of waiting, I was called and informed the installation needed to be cancelled due to the installer calling in sick. 3. During installation, they dropped my dishwasher & dented the door. I rejected the dishwasher as my other one was already hauled out. 4. Due to my hectic work schedule, my dishwasher was installed about 2 weeks later. 5. Dishwasher was not cleaning. 6. Technician came out another week later and I was told it was MISSING parts from the manufacturing plant and should have never passed QC. In addition, It was missing the bottom spinner and the top spinner was snapped off. The technician glued it back on.7. Called Customer Relations to get the runaround saying, its not their fault it came from the manufacture missing parts. In closing, I own a large apartment complex and have many BUSINESS friends. I will NEVER buy a GE product EVER again and to think of all the people I know, Im going to share my horrid experience with everyone I know. This will make great conversation when golfing too.
