So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!

Within a year and a half of buying a new construction condo, the GE microwave fan stopped working (used the condo for no more than 30 days). I read all these complaints and am not surprised. My experience with Kitchen Aid appliances (refrigerator, microwave all junk) is no different than this. If I were to replace any of my appliances, I will not buy an American brand because they are all made in some other country with very poor quality control for very high profit and low quality goals. No choice for now, other than to get it repaired. At least, it provides employment, but what a way to create employment. I would never work for such companies.

Unfortunately, the GE dishwasher came standard in the new townhouse I bought. It is horrible! Within the first year it smelled like sulfur every time I turned it on. I tried cleaning it from top to bottom, but there is always grime after running it and a film on the dishes. Ive had dishwashers all my life and never experienced such a shoddy piece of **. I had many brands of dishwashers over the years, except for GE, and I dont remember having to take it apart and clean it once a week. If I dont clean it once a week it stinks!!! I couldnt stand the smell and finally called the GE repair expert. He knew less about the dishwasher than my cat. I could have purchased a new dishwasher for what I paid for the service call. And he talked to me like I was an idiot. DO NOT BUY A GE DISHWASHER or use their service. I wish I could give it minus 5 stars.

GE is a proven brand and its quality for reliability. When I was shopping for one I went with a known brand. Planning to upgrade my kitchen and will be shopping for a countertop microwave. The over-the-range microwave has stood up 15 years of use. Happy with purchase and performance. Will purchase GE brands in the future.

After having my Cafe Stovetop for about a year and a half, there was a electrical component malfunction. During this, smoke came out of the stovetop and it smelled of electrical burning. I sent a complaint to GE since several components were damaged. Knowing that the warranty was only for 1 year, there would be nothing they could do except sell me the parts.

We moved into a new home in June of 2011 with the appliances already included. Ours came equipped with a GE, over-the-range microwave, model JVM1540DP1WW, manufactured in Malaysia, in April of 2010. Within several months, the revolving platter began to make a bumping noise while turning and then it eventually quit turning altogether. Five service calls later, we had the platter motor replaced, circuit board and four fan motors (apparently the platter has voltage supplied from that fan to make it run) and it still didnt work.It was taken back to the shop and eventually the problem was traced to a loose wire on a terminal connector. After a month of operation, it is again beginning to make the bumping noise while the platter turns. To top it off, Consumer Reports (the March issue) deals with problematic microwaves, especially the GE model and the unexpected fires that can occur. In addition, they can be susceptible to (not always however and only on certain models) wireless transmissions which could potentially cause them to start on their own. I know for a fact that it knocks off my XM Satellite Radio when it is running. Bottom line...its history and will be replaced with a check rated appliance before I too have a major problem.

The GE over-the-range, model JVM316URFSS was installed in our new home by the builder. We have been in the house and used the microwave moderately for the past two years. Last night, out of nowhere, the microwave started running. I realized that it was actually heating when the glass turntable popped. I jumped up and opened the door to stop the heating. The turntable was broken. The interior was incredibly hot. Having read several reviews I realize that this is not an uncommon problem. I am going to buy a replacement but I am very concerned by the fact that GE is aware of this recallable situation and continue to allow this product to remain on the market. I will NOT purchase another GE because apparently they do not care. Our house could have burned down had we not be home.

We purchased a new GE dishwasher from The Brick, after three washes it leaked all over our new hardwood floors. I called The Brick and they said it was GEs problem. I called GE and they sent out a repairman who told us it was a broken seal on the pump and that this dishwasher is discontinued and he cant get the part. So, that would mean GE would have to replace our washer with a new one! We went back to The Brick and told them we did not want the GE washer and wanted to replace it with another brand as we were within the thirty day guarantee. No apology or well pay for the damage to your floor (floor is warped underneath) and guess what Im still waiting for a call back from GE!! Dont buy anything made by GE. You will regret it! As well, I will not be shopping at The Brick anymore.

My old (Panasonic) microwave lasted over 15 years. This brand is really poor quality and they dont stand behind it. Electrical burning smell. Less than 9 months old. Called customer service, they refused to repair and will send a goodwill rebate cert saying I can buy a new one (any model) and I will be refunded. I ended up paying $100 more because all local stores did not have anything close to my model. They will not cover shipping, tax or any of the extra cost of the new microwave. Stay away from all GE products.

New house and all appliances came w/ it, used washer once to make sure plumbed correctly. It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... Its black and as this was a speculation home, builders chose colors... it doesnt show dirt as white appliances does... would buy same color again.. although real dark with oak kitchen.

Bought new Spec house with all GE appliances (was charged extra). Dishwasher Model GDF510PSD1SS wasnt drying dishes, run time 3 to 4 1/2 hours. Opened door to stop it. Have to hand wash first, then place in dw. Service man said dishwasher working properly. All was wet, rinse aid constantly leaking. Tech replaced. Inside of dw gray color had milky white film on it, dishes, rubber gaskets around door. Tech poured citric acid sol. on filter. Next run, white film again. New Cuisinart pots, pans, lids, silverware & all, scratched and nicked in first wash. Found a piece heavy glass and screw in DW. Tech said someone forgot to put screw in panel and he didnt know where glass came from. Seven + tech visits, GE Consumer Relations refused my calls. Every 2 to 3 weeks, have to remove, clean filter, bottom screen, hand dry. One cycle works. White film was hard water buildup. A used dishwasher!! Bought water softener. The new home that we purchased had the above named dishwasher (GDT655SSJSS). When I run the dishwasher there is a very high frequency whine throughout the cycle - the only time it stops is when it is changing cycles. I have contacted GE Customer service 3 times... The first time I was told to add a quart of water to the bottom of the dishwasher and that should fix the problem. Tried that - still high frequency whine. Second contact - no response. Third contact - today- called customer service after my negative appliance review was rejected by GE (buyer beware of all those positive reviews) and was told that this noise is normal. Totally Unacceptable - since the sound hurts my ears and causes a headache - I have to listen to 111 minutes of this noise (except when the washer pauses to change cycles). This is the very worst dishwasher I have ever owned and even though it is only 2 months old I will be replacing it - and it wont be a GE Dishwasher.

I bought a GE Profile dishwasher 3 years ago. After two weeks it was broken. I called Mabe Appliances and they sent out a tech. He told me it was broken. When I called Mabe back the service people told me to read the manual...yes really. Finally after a lot arguing they replaced it. About a day after the 1 year warranty expired all but one of the cycles stopped working. I have to take it apart every 3 months to clean out the water output as its clogged and the water doesnt have any pressure and therefore does not clean the dishes. I got up this morning and the dishwasher was still running but there were no lights on the front of the unit. I turned it on around 8pm so it was running for 11 hours. When I opened the door it was apparent it had been stuck in the wash cycle the whole time. It is now completely dead. Nothing works. No lights. WHAT a piece of JUNK. How can GE put their name this crap? STAY AWAY FROM GE APPLIANCES. Spend a little more and get a Samsung or LG or Bosch.

No one is available to come over to install the parts, the parts are sitting at my table. I guess they want me to install them myself. I even had purchased a 5-year warranty. GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

GE Microwave Model JVM6175EF1ES - On July 26, 2014 purchased as a set stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. From the beginning I had problems with the microwave with the door had a bad connection and the microwave would shut off. On April 2015 the microwave started working without me starting it and I had look up and I saw sparks on the inside and I unplug it. GE replace it and now after 2 years I have the same problem just started and would not shut off and I unplug it. Both times I was lucky to be home. I would like GE to fix my microwave. I understand it has passed one year but, I think appliances should not break down after 2 years. I would like it fixed or replaced if possible. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Ive owned my GE Profile dishwasher for 6 years. Two months ago the pump had to be replaced and this is quite an expensive item. Then the other day I went to open the dishwasher and the doors spring gave away, hence slamming to the floor and crushing my big toe. The repairman said it was not the spring that broke but the link that holds the spring in place. The spring is actually quite strong but the link is just a flimsy piece of plastic. We are both anxious to see if the replacement link he ordered has been made stronger and are replacing both just to be sure it doesnt happen again. Although my toe isnt broken, it is extremely bruised and painful so I am going to be ever cautious of opening the dishwasher again.

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave in 2008. After 3 years, the magnetron went out and the microwave stopped heating. I called GE repair, and they told me it would cost over $300 to fix - close to the cost of a new microwave. Stupidly, I bought another GE microwave in August 2011, model JVM1750DP1BB. In the one year Ive had it, it has broken 4 times. One time, it was the magnetron (seems like a common problem). Another time it was the motherboard. Another time, it was a bad wiring problem. Each time, I called the GE repair service, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. Twice, they cancelled my appointment on the day because they overbooked. Given that I had to take time off work for the appointments, this is a huge inconvenience. I have been waiting over this last time for an appointment, after they again cancelled my scheduled appointment. GE makes a terrible product, and their repair service is a joke. I bought GE because I wanted to Buy American, but they have completely turned me off. Think twice about buying GE! You will waste lots of time and money.

GE jvm1750sp1ss microwave - bought in 2010, less than 4 years old has stopped working. Lights are on, but when we hit the start button we hear a small pop and nothing else. The clock does work counting down but nothing else. I happen to love this microwave, it was a gift for my wife. It now no longer works and cannot afford a new one. Option 1: replace parts myself for 150.00. Option 2: call a technician for 200.00 plus parts or option 3: do without. Option 4: wait to afford a new one. I guess all things grow old but we should have enough history on these items to post a life span. Well a story like this usually falls on deaf ears but if someone is reading, make the suggestion on the life span or make the parts affordable. Thank you.

I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me thats an aesthetic issue. They cant do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but its something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

One day after the new GE dishwasher was installed, I came home to find water raining down into my basement. My kitchen floor was destroyed. The installers came out a week later to look at it. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

In that time, the white coating on the inside of the microwave has been deteriorating, beginning with the area under the turntable and extending out to the bottom and sides of the unit. I am concerned that our food will be contaminated by the particles that are coming off or that there will be a fire caused by the microwaves hitting on the uncoated metal. I do not plan to ever purchase another GE microwave.

Purchased a GE 650 dishwasher which we quickly discovered has terrible racking for North American dishware. Also the control panel is overly complicated yet limited to use (always flashes settings even when not in use). Once you figure out how to load dishes into the very tight/ narrow tines they fall over and chip/break. When investigating the dishwashers by GE made in China/Taiwan etc all have same issue. The ones made in USA by GE have wider and longer tines. We have had MANY dishwashers over the 40 years and NEVER had one as bad as this. When calling GE customer service the senior rep was not willing to offer any customer satisfaction as nothing technically was wrong. At one point she stated we had made the purchase so live with it even though it was the wrong choice. We offered to pay for any cost difference, etc. When questioned about GEs interest in customer satisfaction she stated that was not a warranty issue. She was not concerned about a satisfied customer. With that, we will not be purchasing another GE product or its affiliates. What a waste of money.

The side panel of our built-in GE Profile microwave 1999 caught on fire when my daughter was using it. It had a faint glow behind the metal plate. Then, it became flames quite quickly. A flash and pop was the ultimate end before we turned it off during the test. It had been working fine until the fire. This is a definite safety issue. Now that I know the microwaves have been faulty, it makes me concerned about the GE Profile electric stovetop burner. I have noticed it gets extremely hot and doesnt seem to want to turn off!

We purchased this dishwasher for our rental. The last dishwasher was over 30 years old and still working but the racks were coming apart so we opted for a new one from Home Depot. A year later our tenants called saying when they used the dishwasher it rained in the basement. Our maintenance man called and said the dishwasher melted a hole in the right side about 1.5 inches by a 1/4 inch. Midway to the heater element. He did a temp fix with silicone.I called GE Recall number and was told it was not on a recall list. I called customer service and was told they would waive the service call. I explained this was a FIRE HAZARD. They insisted all they could do is send their tech out for repair. Since I paid about 280 dollars for the dishwasher I decide a service call would probably run near that and told them NO! I am now sending all information to consumer affairs department with my STATE REPRESENTATIVE. I also am putting the fire hazard info out there on facebook and twitter. I am waiting for someone else to say they also had a fire hazard. This should be on a recall list!

I received a recall on my original wall oven with microwave unit, and was only going to receive financial help from GE, if I replaced it with the same unit model JTP90. The unit was only 3 years old at the time. I purchased the new model, which cost $1,200.00, and received a check from GE for $600.00 for the recall, which is already a rip off in my opinion. I had the new unit for 14 months, when the microwave stopped working completely, with no power whatsoever. I thought it had blown a fuse. I took it to the repair center, and they tell me the diode, capacitor, and fuse have all failed. $200 later, it can be fixed, but they have no idea why all three went out at the same time. I, however, do know, GE just makes junk! I will never purchase another GE appliance. Just a side note, my 3 year old dishwasher was also recalled, and it was $600 to replace it with the same model. They sent me a check for $300. It sounds like GE has a good thing going. Make a piece of junk and recall it a few years later, and only give the customer half of the cost to replace it, and only if they buy another GE product! Wow!

GE states they do not repair microwave ovens under warranty. Instead, they offer to reimburse you at MSRP for repurchasing the unit if you will show evidence you have ruined the units operational function. The interior bulb burned out in my unit, I disabled the unit, sent in pictures and receipt. They sent a coupon for about $30.00 less than MSRP and lied about the conditions of reimbursement. Brendia, the agent I spoke with, broke off email contact when I stated the unit was no longer available from the sellers on the GE seller list (including the seller I originally purchased from), and that the unit was only available at MSRP from the online sellers I could find. My microwave is inoperable and GE has not responded or offered to increase reimbursement to MSRP. I have not located a chain of command to whom I can report Brendias dishonest management of my case.

I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. By the way, the repairman was very nice and respectful to us.

Because we have a combo microwave and oven, the entire unit must be replaced. Thats around $2400. We cannot match the color, because they dont make bisque appliances any more. BIG MISTAKE!!! It wont turn off unless they unplugging it! They have already paid to have a tech come out to fix it but the problem started again 3 months later. I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. I said Do you mean your solution is that my parents who just spent several hundreds of dollars on your defective appliance should spend several more hundreds of dollars to purchase another one from GE? Why did their last one last over 25 years but this one only lasted around 2-3 years? Why dont you stand by your products? Their response was I can connect you to customer service for further help. My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

I cant remember the exact date of purchase for my GE Spacemaker microwave oven. I have a receipt somewhere, but I have receipts for repair dated 2002. It is for a door seal gasket for the microwave. A model JVM60 GE Spacemaker installed over the range. The microwave worked perfectly for several years. Then one day, when I pressed the start button, I noticed a small fire inside the window above the control panel where the time is displayed. I called repair man; I was told that it was the circuit board, and GE was not able to send repair spare part. Since then the microwave is only good for displaying the time, and storing my everyday pan. I do remember paying $400.00 for this microwave because I purchased it at my employment. It would seem to me a company making a $400.00 appliance would be backed by a circuit board, which they know would go bad in a short time. Thats why they only had a one year warranty guarantee. To show you the difference in a microwave appliance, I purchased a small counter top microwave in 1997; it still works like a charm, and I use it every day. From the negative reviews I read on these Spacemaker microwaves, I firmly believe there should be some compensation to us consumers for the money spent, plus the hazards we experienced. If that is not agreed, then all of us consumers should file a class action suit against GE.

We bought a GE dishwasher a little over 3 years ago. In the last week of September we awoke to the smell of hot or melted plastic. We found the source to be the dishwasher. I had loaded and started it before going to bed the night before. The counter-top above the dishwasher was stove top hot and upon opening the dishwasher found that a cutting board that we have had for many years and have always put in the dishwasher had melted on top of the heating coil. Dishwasher safe items on the top rack melted as well. It had been drying for at least 9 hours. After pulling the dishwasher out we saw the heat shield had melted and was crumbling. We contacted GE, sent them all the pictures and they told us it was not a safety issue. We have no doubt that if we had not woken up so early we would have had a fire in our house caused by the dishwasher.

We purchased our GE dishwasher in September 2014. In December 2014 the dishwasher started to make a loud grinding noise. I contacted GE and a repair man was sent promptly to do the repair. Upon arrival and looking at the dishwasher he advised me that it was the motor. He then stated that he would order the parts and also stated that he did not have the correct tool to remove the motor and has not had one since they have changed the manufacturing process. At this time I am still waiting for the parts and I have contacted GE numerous times to find that the parts were either on back order or had been shipped out. I am still waiting for the parts and the repairs to be done. The estimated date of the parts to arrive is January 29th. Excellent. The dishwasher cleans dirty dishes and dries them as I expect. We use all the features periodically, usually the RINSE & Normal wash daily. We rarely use the China setting, but we do use the pots and pans and hygienic features as well. We also occasionally use the delayed start feature. Our dishwasher is a decent size four our family for daily use and for large get-togethers. Our house came with a WHITE dishwasher, which were not totally fond of as a personal preference, BUT, its LOOK and design are fine by our standards. We have had a problem with the door catching on the screw that holds the dishwasher in the cabinet. Seems like a simple fix, but it hasnt been. Id like to see that problem go away for any dishwasher installation.

Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

We purchased this new 8 years ago however the problems started after about two and a half years of use. I called GE when the paint started peeling off of the door of the microwave. They asked me if I cooked salty foods. I cook bacon in the microwave. They told me my only option was to buy a new door and have it installed. It was $250 at the time. I did not have the money or desire to fool with it. I continued to use the microwave and it has continued to degrade. Now eight years later there is so much metal showing that we decided we must do something. It is unsightly and very difficult to clean because its rusting. Ive been expecting electrical arcs to occur and the microwave to catch on fire. It hasnt done that. It has continued to cook the food. The entire metal area on the door is without paint. There are other large areas of metal and rust inside on the bottom of the microwave. The entire vent panel is without paint and rusted. We also had to have the control panel replaced twice. It was covered once under the warranty and once it was not. We also had to replace the element in the oven which is used rarely. To replace the microwave and oven combination now would be $3,500. When I do replace it I will replace it with a different brand.

First, as a new homeowner blessed with select builder-provided appliances, I never imagined I would be authoring this letter 4 months after closing on the new home. Your friggin’ microwave oven light mechanism truly sucks! I lost the two bulbs a week or so ago and purchased two more at the cost of approximately $10, even though a one-year warranty was stated. That was okay, as I was more interested in fixing the problem versus starting some long-range purchase interest. So, and this is the most aggravating aspect, I have the correct pins and life is ** good, and as I attempt to insert the first, the ** pin breaks off. Okay, so I reflect on the horrific engineering of the mechanism, and I softly” align the second of the two bulbs, and the ** pin breaks off again. ** is my predominant theme tonight. Cracked tub seam and leak found immediately by service tech GEs site referred. Good news is the leak detector worked! Bad news - is we didnt install it right away (old one still worked and pandemic...) so it was a year before we got to it (was partly a gift). So - now MFR Mabe is giving us the run around and so far not doing anything about the faulty dishwasher they mfd and shipped through Home Depot. My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

When we returned about four hours later we were met in our apartment lobby by the building manager who informed us that we had a fire in our apartment. It started in the dishwasher, which was off, and destroyed the unit. Repairs will be costly due to fire restoration required as well as the need to now replace more than just a dishwasher. After only 4 hours of installation, the microwave turned on and the fan and light came on. It was not cooking anything. Inside of microwave was hot and I could smell a burnt electronics smell. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and when I plugged it in, it started up again. The LCD screen was scrambled, all lit up. Opening the door stopped the unit, but it started again when I plugged it in.

We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen
We bought all new GE Cafe kitchen appliances when we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago. The first Cafe dishwasher needed repairs in the first 3 months, and was replaced within 10 months due to continuing problems. The replacement GE Cafe dishwasher was deemed non-repairable after 2.5 years. The unit has a design flaw and the bracket holding the top water sprayer broke. The extended warranty with Assurant will not cover the dishwasher because they say it is not a working part. We are trying to get GE Customer Care to help but after three weeks the message we are getting is they do not care at all.The front burner on the cooktop will not light. GE cannot get a replacement part so the cooktop was also deemed nonrepairable after only 3 year. Our Cafe refrigerator also has a design flaw. The refrigerator must be unplugged to reset the computer when the water filter is changed. If you dont the refrigerator does not recognize the filter and will not dispense water. Needless to say I will never buy GE again. It is sad to see what was a good company go down the tubes.

My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

Well now, 3 years later, this exclusive models glass fogs up when we use it. There are only 2 of us living at home. We use it maybe 4 or 5 times a day. A microwaves typical lifetime is 9 to 10 years. Also, by the way, when we turn on the fan to highest, it sounds like an express train hurtling through our kitchen. Our dog had a heart attack and died the first day we operated it. No he didnt. I work as a service tech for a major insurance company. I am a master tech, and master electrician. The company that I work for owns an apartment complex which is used to house company executives whose offices are located at other sites, but often come to the Chattanooga Site to work short term. I was called to repair an old dishwasher in one of the apartments. Upon looking at the existing dishwasher, I decided to replace with a new one. I received a new GE model GDF 510 PGD 1WW dishwasher on November 8, 2013. As usual I unpackaged the appliance and examined the exterior. Finding no visible damage, and with the help of a master plumber, I removed the old dishwasher, and installed the new one. After all the connections were made, I opened the door, removed all the packaging from the dishwasher, and found the upper spray arm lying in disarray in the bottom of the machine. Assuming that this was the way that the machine was packaged, I installed the spray arm, plugged the machine up and started the machine as the operations manual instructed. The machine would not work. The power lamp would burn solid for a few seconds and start flashing. I tried to start the machine a number of times while reading the instructions, and while my partner read the instructions aloud, but with no results. Finally, I used a screwdriver to hold the door switch closed, pressed the start button and the unit started. The catch mounted on the door would not make the door switch, mounted on the machine body. We tried to adjust the switch and the catch, but with no success. The dishwasher did not show any signs of exterior shipping damage, but for some reason the upper spray arm was off and lying in the bottom of the unit, I found a small piece of broken plastic and a screw in the bottom of the machine, and the door switch would not make. Outside that I have no complaints. I am not sure where this machine was assembled, but it certainly was not equal to the machine that we removed. Thanks GE for making my job harder. I will have to find another dishwasher Monday and replace the damaged one, and perhaps send this one back, but the replacement will certainly be another brand.

First off: GE doesnt make some parts for this model anymore. The unit is large compared to many others; the upper tray provides adjustable height; one of the set of spikes in the upper tray rusted out because of inadequate plastic coating, and no replacement was available from GE; the control panel on the top edge of the door failed within warranty period and was replaced free; the holes in the rotating arms that spew water upwards onto the dishes must be cleaned with tweezers to remove bits of paper from labels. Those are all the negatives. The positives are that it is very quiet; a cycle takes about an hour; it cleans dishes well so long as they are not hidden from the water jets; pre-rinsing can help but is not necessary. I would buy it again.

The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. I purchased a this GE Model CDT845P2NS1 on Oct 2, 2019 and the unit was received Oct 23, 2019. I installed the unit approx. 4 days after receipt and dishwasher functioned well until November 10th, 2020 when the unit failed to pump out the water. I contacted GE Service (MabeService) and was advised that the unit was not under warranty and as such I should contact a GE Canada authorized service centre. After several attempts to get someone to come to our location at Sharbot Lake we got hold of Capital Appliance Repair in Ottawa. They were not able to send a technician until November 18th. After diagnosing the problem the technician advised we needed a main control board and would have to order one and then come back to do the install of the control board. It is now February 21st 3 months after the visit and I’m being told that the part is backordered and they have no idea when it will become available. I’m extremely unhappy when you spend over $7,000.00 for a GE CAFÉ gas stove, Microwave, Refrigerator and dishwasher to find out you cannot get parts in a timely manner. As a customer of GE Canada I have had no help is solving my problem. It is not acceptable to have a 1 year old dishwasher that has failed, much less waiting for repair that has taken over 90 days to get repaired. DO NOT BUY!

I had a blow up with my GE microwave which came with 2 metal racks. I used the rack once and the microwave flared up as if I had warmed something on aluminum foil. I removed the racks. The microwave is 2 years old. Last week I warmed a chocolate chip cookie on a paper plate for 10 seconds. Immediately the microwave flared up, the plastic bracket that the shelf rest on burned and melted. I was lucky no one was hurt or a fire resulted. GE came to inspect the microwave and offered to replace it for $258.80. I am arguing with GE. I want them to replace it free of charge. Their own technician tells customers to never use the metal shelves. I maintain that the design or brackets are faulty and GE should stand behind their products. This microwave was always used correctly. Do consumers have any rights at all?

I bought the Cafe dishwasher model #CDT855P2NS1, for $995, it arrived defective with the wrong size parts inside causing the door to not shut properly (as inspected by GE repairman). This was over 4 months ago. Since then I have been told to call every two weeks to see when a replacement model would be available in the warehouse (each of this calls required sitting on hold for over an hour). Despite having many of this model dishwasher for sale on the GE website, I have been told for over four months to call back in two weeks, because none are available at the warehouse and this is the only place you can source them from. Now I am being offered the price I paid for the dishwasher despite the exact replacement now costing $1,277, from the same place as the previous one was ordered from. This doesn’t include the $149 to install the new dishwasher to replace the defective one that was initially installed, which I am being told will not be reimbursed. I just want to warn everyone about not purchasing this product or expecting any support from GE.

Sometime in the 1970s, my mother bought all new GE appliances; a refrigerator, a kitchen range-microwave combo and a dishwasher. After her death my husband and I moved into her house and continued to use these appliances until 2007. The refrigerator and dishwasher are still going strong as of now... October 2014. The refrigerator only needed the drainage line cleaned. The range began to have some electrical shortage problems and rather than try to repair (which is what we should have done with both appliances), we decided to replace the refrigerator and range/microwave. We bought new GE appliances; a GE refrigerator (my brother put the old one in his shop), GE microwave and GE range. The new refrigerators icemaker would not work property when we got it and the microwave (Model #JVM2070SK02) quit early this year (big difference in the old microwave at 30 some years use and my new one at only 7 years use). Because my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I was the only caretaker, I was not able to address the malfunctioning icemaker immediately. In fact, because of my husbands hospitalization, I wasnt even at home during that year enough to use the icemaker. WOW! What a ripoff GE is selling to consumers. My complaints wont solve my problems nor the problems experienced by other people who bought these defective appliances but it helps to vent my anger. Just recently a small leak in the waste-water drain hose (easy to replace) sent me scurrying to find a new dishwasher but when considering the replacement of my 1970s dishwasher and the reliability of my newer appliances, I decided that my 1970s dishwasher will outlast anything I could replace it with. So I decided to replace the waste-water drain hose myself. What a sad appliance market we have in the US when buyers have to replace newly purchased appliances anywhere from a few days to a few short years after purchase. I think appliance companies intentionally produce inferior, unfixable products so consumers will replace their inferior ones with new inferior models thus keeping up sales. Do we have a choice? I lived before dishwashers and microwaves and I can live without either now. I would prefer not to go back to wood cook-stove and an icebox but I may not have a choice (I actually have an icebox if needed). Is there any way to hold companies responsible for the products they produce? If anyone out there has had longevity of 10 years or more use from a newer appliance line, that is appliances made since 2000... Please share the producers name with rest of us. GE isnt what it used to be and neither are many other US brand name appliances.

My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

I just remodeled my kitchen back in May of 2012. My wife and I started looking for the appliances and we decided to get the GE Cafe series set (dishwasher, cooktop, electric oven and microwave). Our microwave oven, model CVM1790SS1SS, developed a humming noise as soon as you closed the door. It does sound like the magnetron is on. To verify that, I filled a cup with cold water and I put it inside and closed the door without setting any cooking time. After three minutes, the water was too hot to touch. I called GE and told them that it was a fire hazard. They sent one of their technicians and he determined that it was not a fire hazard and if I wanted it fixed, I have to pay for it. How could he say its not? If I close the door, the oven is going to continue heating up until it burns itself and everything else around it. I am pissed at GE because this unit is barely one year old and expensive. This is a safety hazard and GE failed to acknowledge. Bottom line, Ill never buy GE again and will not recommend it to anyone.

I purchased the dishwasher in August. In September, two months later, it would not drain. GE sent a service tech out under warranty who found food particles stuck in the drain pump, removed them, put the dishwasher back together and went on his way. Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher cant handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher. The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived. GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GEs Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!
