We have enjoyed this dishwasher for over 25 years. Over 25 years ago my husband gave me a portable dishwasher for Christmas. About 15 years ago we turned it into a built in. It doesnt look great, some rust and lost 2 of the prongs but it is still doing a great job.

I bought a new house and within 2 years my GE dishwasher and now my GE microwave jvm1750sp1ss need replaced. Ive got a cheap $100 microwave in the basement thats worked for years. GE quality has apparently went downhill. NEVER again. Cannot believe appliances that cant even last 2 years.

Microwave performs wonderfully but it has peeling paint inside. I contacted GE about it and the only thing they said was, Well give you a coupon for money off another GE microwave. Why if I had money to buy another microwave would I purchase a GE and watch the paint peel off again. I am retired on a fixed income. New appliances dont come easy.

I have a 15 year old washer/dryer set that has worked consistently and it resides at a rental property. I purchased GE washer/dryer set for primary home 4 years ago and it's awesome. It's the level 1-2 steps above basic model and has enough settings to fit my needs (maybe more than I even use) such as pre-soaking, 4 settings for loads and much more. I would not purchase anything besides GE appliances. Very reliable and easy to interface with.

I like my microwave. It works alright but the fan on it is extremely noisy. This is the first GE microwave that is so noisy. Besides that it defrost food well, I like the different functions on this microwave. They work great.

Installed 07/06/2015 While I was asleep on 12/09/18 the oven appeared to start microwaving an empty oven on its own. When I came down 5 hours later the microwave had no power. I opened door and turntable had melted and glass had exploded. The ring under it was burnt and melted in one location. Top of cabinet on right side was hot. Then the internal circuit breaker restored itself and started some recovery process making odd noises sounded like the magnetron was trying to run since the top was getting hotter, after a minute the internal circuit breaker shut it down again. I then unplugged it. It appeared the magnetron started heating on its own and turntable did not rotate. All of the heat was concentrated at 12:00 edge of glass turntable. It also burnt the metal floor under that spot.

I bought a microwave unit (HVM1540DP1BB) in August 2011. The warranty expired in 2012. But just a little over 1 and 1/2 months after the expiration, the unit would not power at all. The display did finally come on after a day with plug disconnected showing **, but if finally came to life. No more than a week later, the same thing happened. This time the unit does not come back to life, no reset. I had replaced in 2011 the original unit that the home builder had put in. That unit last eight years. GE makes terrible microwaves and I will not replace it this time with a GE.

Great microwave when the thermostats are working. Have gone through 4 in 2 years. I have convection/microwave. This is a great oven, and microwave. The failing parts should be something GE corrects. Service contract was purchased after 2nd needed repair. Their contracted service was awful. No communication, mis-scheduling, unavailable parts, Poor customer service. Have officially requested with GE not to have this contractor assigned to correct any problems in the future.

This microwave (jvm1540dm5ww) works fine but the plastic door is fracturing into bits. I expect this is because of faulty plastic in China. Cheap alternatives for fast profits. The machine is out of warranty. Replacement door is almost 160$ with shipping. Planned obsolescence by corporate America. This machine works fine but is a waste because I don’t trust the replacement materials to be any more stable. I rated this a two because the actual operation is fine. Sorry GE. I will not buy your brand.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

GE Profile dishwasher - model # PWD8280N00SS - Appears that moisture got between the exterior panel and door that houses that main board. Because of the moisture caused a short that melted the main board, with harness and the ribbon from the on/off panel that connects into the main board. Luckily I was home at the time or this could have caused a significant fire damage in my kitchen.

I have a built-in GE microwave. It is easy to use and best of all very easy to clean. It is brand new and stainless steel. Looks nice on the wall above the built-in GE oven. I can easily reach it. Some built-in microwaves are too high.

Negative 5 stars. I purchased a GE over the range microwave oven, JVM2052SN1SS, just over a year ago and had a service call to address a lack of exhaust about a month after my purchase. In summary, the tech said it would not function as a dedicated exhaust hood and nothing can be done. 14 months later, the key pad began malfunctioning. Also, the moisture sensor that the operation manual stated will automatically start the exhaust fan, never worked and every time we cook, moisture would build up between the glass on the microwave door.I called GE Consumer Relation today and they will not address this issue free of charge. I will not purchase another GE product because GE dont stand behind their products.

Has anyone experienced a plastic burning smell when the dishes are drying? My dishwasher is 3 years old and I wash on Light cycle which is suppose to be 45 minutes long but goes for 85 minutes. Company said to turn off circuit breaker and turn back on and it should be fine, it isnt. Last two times I used the dishwasher it wouldnt completely shut down so I had to do it manually and before I did this I could smell a plastic burning smell but there was nothing on the elements. I called for a service call but they were shut down for 4 days.

Our General Electric Dishwasher does a very good job of cleaning and drying our dishes. It does these jobs very quickly and quietly. We have had it for about 5 years without any problems or repairs. I would recommend our dishwasher the General Electric Profile for home use. Several of our friends and neighbors recommended this dishwasher when we bought it.

Have been trying to have repairs for new appliances less than year old since before May 20th. Have had cancelled appointments, service never showed, wrong parts etc. Went to consumer advocates for help, no help. Today my appointment was again cancelled and rescheduled to July 10th. About to have a stroke. Both ice makers dont work, yet I am not put ahead. Have to go back in line after GE cancels.Purchased microwave, double oven profile appliances, two dishwashers for which gasket fell off and dispenser for soap leaked, french door refrigerators, all stainless steel. I just got off phone with consumer advocates and again was told next date July 10th. And I do want an attorney to contact me. Thank you and I hope I get a response.

I purchased 5 new GE Appliances delivered June 1, 2014. Within the first 2 weeks, the dishwasher wouldnt drain and had the repairman out to fix it. Within the next 2 weeks, the door wouldnt stay closed and had the repairman come. He took the rubber off around the door so that the door would close and said he was not familiar with GE dishwashers and would go to showroom and look at it and come back. I said as long as I dont have a flood. He assured me that the water only fills up so far and would not leak. Within the next 2 weeks, I was downstairs and heard water running and it was pouring through the ceiling. I ran upstairs and very hot water was all over my kitchen and pouring through the floor into the basement. The unit malfunctioned and wouldnt shut off. I had to shut off the water to the DW and run to the electrical panel to shut off power. I then had to call insurance to get a restoration company to dry out and fix my house. I phoned Arkona Appliances to let them know and they gave me a toll free number to call for GE. The toll free number when you call you are on hold for at least an hour to talk to a receptionist which puts you on to someones voicemail. I was on hold for one hour the first time and one hour and eleven minutes the second time and begged to get a direct line for future calls. Reluctantly, the receptionist gave it to me. The technician had to come out and assess the dishwasher and said I needed a new dishwasher and sent the report in Friday, August 1. Because of the long weekend, I waited to call until Wednesday and they said they didnt receive the report. She asked me whether it was emailed or faxed - how would I know. Then she found the report and said I would get a new dishwasher Wednesday, Aug 13 or the 20th. Still havent heard anything. If received next week, it will have been 5 weeks from the time of the flood I have been washing dishes by hand. Awful customer service from retailer as well as GE. Problems dont go away they just get worse. Initially upset - NOW I AM FURIOUS!!!

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

This dishwasher model no. GDL6860N00SS and serial no. DM833394B was purchased in the summer of 2008 and has given me no problems until now. I used it last around 3pm on October 11, 2011 and apparently it was still heating up because my husband noticed a plastic burning smell the next morning. So he opened the dishwasher and it was burning hot! It had my granite countertop scorching hot, it also started to melt the bottle on the top of the counter. I think this could be a manufacturers defect.

Last summer GE replaced the peeling handle on my microwave oven. I have treated the new handle with kid gloves. No abrasive cleaning products have been used and the oven burner under the handle is used infrequently at very lower temperatures. One year later its peeling AGAIN. All the burner control bezels on my GE Cafe oven have also peeled. The handles look like plastic covered with aluminium foil. Cant believe GE hasnt fixed this problem or issued a recall. I will NEVER purchase another products made by GE!

Updated on 12/30/2018: Again had GE up, said it was not the pump as they stated. Hired a plumber as they requested, pipe not blocked. Changed connections and now the machine has no power. Again have to call for repair. I am sure they will have to order a part or tell me to call an electrician. I am so done. Please beware. Do not buy. Still not been able to use my dishwasher going on 4 weeks and brand new.Original Review: Purchased from Home Depot. I have had it for only one month used 4 times. The water did not drain. Called GE Repair. Guy came down, couldn’t figure out what was going on, said it must be the pump or it could be blocked. He went downstairs, could not find the pipe. Been there since 69...said he is going to order part. Waited 1 week. Then he calls me an hour before he was to be here. Mind you I took off work to be there. He said, “Did you have plumber to come in to see if there is a blockage and he needs to show you where the connection is?” Are you kidding me. I told him I am handicapped and having company for Christmas and I need it. He said he can’t come until I hire a plumber as he can’t find the dishwasher connections. Are you kidding?I said, “Can you come and install the pump and if it doesn’t drain then I will call the plumber.” He said no as he can’t find the connection...I am going to put 150 to have a plumber come when I know it’s the pump not a blockage to have the plumber show me where the dishwasher is connected because the idiot can’t figure it out. I said I need it for Christmas. Nobody working until next Wednesday. Do not get a GE. Poor customer service and to break down a few weeks after purchasing is unacceptable. I had A Bosch for 6 years, never a problem. Plus the lower rack tracks already fell apart. I live by myself and does not get much use. I read the reviews and should have known. The only reason I purchased I needed the bisque color. BUYER BEWARE.

A known GE microwave defect on this (GE JVM2070SK02 Microwave) models control panel has yet again resulted in our microwave not working and GE giving us the standby, pay for an appliance technician. I would like GE to own up and send a technician to replace the control panel and get it working since it’s a known issue.

My husband and I bought a GE dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in April 2011. We installed it in our new home in May 2011. It has never cleaned our dishes properly. Our dishes come out of the dishwasher with a film on them and do not look clean at all. I called GE in July. They sent out a repair person who proceeded to tell me that we were not cleaning our dishes well enough. The person also told me that our water wasnt hot enough, we didnt clean our dishwasher out often enough, etc. After I corrected everything, the repairman suggested our dishwasher still wasnt working properly. So, we called GE back. We have since had two additional repair men out. Neither one has been able to repair the dishwasher. The last repairman replaced a valve he thought might be broken. However, it is still working the same. I am absolutely disgusted with the experience I have had with GE.

My GE refrigerator is almost 30 years old. It's not a frost-free refrigerator, but frost build-up has not been a big problem. I usually defrost it twice a year. I have had no problems with it over the years, other than the light bulb burning out. I would certainly buy a GE refrigerator again.

GE dishwasher caught fire - not part of recall. I arrived home for lunch to find smoke alarm going off and kitchen hot and hazy. Determined it was dishwasher and opened to thick black smoke pouring out. Heat so extreme cups/dishes and racks and spinning thing on bottom had melted and adhered to elements, each other and bottom. Parts of the dishwasher itself are warped (steel!). Granite countertops too hot to touch and wood cabinetry surrounding it darkened. Dont know the extent of that damage yet. Thank GOD I came home for lunch- I normally do not. I truly believe our house would have been on fire.

Touch pad on GE CAFE over the range microwave started failing within first 2-3 years. Now, 6 years later, it has completed failed. Repair part alone (not including service call) is almost $550.00. Pure junk...made in MALAYSIA!

I brought our brand new home just over 1 year and 8 months ago with all new GE appliances. One of the GE Smart Built-In Double Wall Ovens, the bottom one which we never use, but the inner glass shattered randomly, very dangerous and they want us to pay them $100 for the inspector visit and then more for the par and service $325 for the replacement, the GE is disagreeing they had a defect on installations. That is an experience that we never repurchase GE brands, my friend had the same issue. They replaced in their house this way without warranty, however they disagreeing our oven had the defect on installation, lesson learned, never never buy the GE again!

Bought the whole GE profile kitchen series 2 years ago. Last week the microwave went dark, blew a component, and is dead. With only two people using it off and on for reheating, hardly got our money worth. Called GE for assistance and went back to the store where it was purchased. No one offered any financial assistance with the loss. The microwave itself was $500. My husband and I are very disappointed in the product and service.

I purchased the GE Cafe dishwasher in March 2010. Starting in January 2012, some of the keypad options stopped working. Then in April 2012, the keypad stopped working completely and I could no longer get it to turn on. I did call GE for repair. When the repair person was out to fix it, they said that this model has a design flaw. It was originally designed to sit 1 below the countertop so that the heat could release without shorting out the keypad. However, that would require a person to somehow raise their entire counter or fit the dishwasher below the floor somehow. GE was aware of the problem but decided to ignore the problem. That means that even though my keypad was replaced, the same problem will occur again and again no matter how many times the keypad is replaced. I paid over $1400 for this model, and the labor charges alone cost me $200 for the repair. I think it is absolutely despicable that such a large company has allowed a high-priced, defective product to go out into the market, knowing that a major malfunction will occur out of warranty in such a short period of time.

We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard.There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

My Profile dishwasher is not on the recall list, yet the heater element malfunctioned and did damage the entire inside racks and spin bar along with contents. GE told us to have their recommended repairman provide estimate. Repair guy estimated over $600 to fix. The unit was smoking hot which caused bubbling on the exterior and the dishes to show signs of burning. Well with estimate, GE is offering a discounted top of the line dishwasher for over $600. Pretty sure, I do not want another GE. Also, when I told the agent that I was afraid that if I had not been home, it may have initiated a fire, she said it would not have happened. Really?

I purchased a GE dishwasher model no. GLD6700N00CC, serial no. ** about 4 years ago. It just finished the wash, rinse and drying cycle when without warning, the front panel on the dishwasher started smoking and spewing fumes in my kitchen. The front door of the dishwasher and top of my counter were extremely hot. Luckily, I was home when it happened. Otherwise, I might have come home to a fire.

My experience with GE over range microwave oven (built in) as follows/ Unit Mod.JVM3160RF3SS. Ser.#GG248367A, this unit was produced April 2016. Review February 28, 2019, unit began to disconnect itself during normal use. This was done by way of throwing 15 amp breaker. New home with dedicated circuit = Yes. Online Problem shows indoor sensors interlocks not adjusted properly. Troubleshoot fee minimum $99 with parts estimate $250.00. We have been limping along for two months with frequent trips to basement resetting breaker, now the breaker trips when activated. Same thing happens on multiple circuits, via extension cord trial. Next step purchase NEW MICROWAVE that is not GE.

My GE Washing machine did everything it was supposed to do, especially in cleaning clothes and very few if any machine problems and they last years and years, mine was 15 years old. It kept surprising me because it ran so smoothly, truly cleaned my clothes and ran forever. The Dryer couldn't keep up with my old washer, had to buy a newer more expensive machine that couldn't dry at 8 years old. I loved my reliable GE washer.

18 Dishwasher Model GSM1860VSS - Cleans terrifically but I have a problem with either a leak or steam which is running the front of my dishwasher and marking it. It seems to be leaking from the black panel across the top. If I check inside behind the black panel I can see marks where water has been running. Please let me know how to fix this. The dishwasher was bought in 2015 and have the receipt from Home Depot. Thanks.

Microwave fan just stopped working. Dishwasher wont dry dishes. Also, cloudy water drooling down door when you open it. If you set it on heavy or normal, it runs forever. This is horrible for a year old product. They were acting up before then. Busy schedule kept us from reacting. Looks brand new, works like its 20 years old. Help.

My GE microwave, has been running fine, but the door handle has cracked on the bottom. This is the second GE microwave that I have purchased in three years. They need to do a better job with the door handle. I will never buy another one.

Our stainless steel finish 1100 watt JES1142 microwave is around 2 years old. Within the last year the finish inside started to corrode (yes, my wife cleaned it regularly with a non abrasive, appropriate cleanser). Also, the door latch button started sticking and a few days ago it just stopped heating. Unfortunately I cant find my receipt, but I bought it at my local Lowes on Bell Rd. Nashville TN. Serial # is MA212483G. Manufactured July 2013. Was this just a lemon? Very disappointed.

Dishes on top shelf do not get clean, and Power Dry does not dry dishes. Technicians say nothing is wrong with the unit and customer service was a nightmare.

Purchased the cafe dishwasher in March. We are now on our second one as the first did not work and now this one does not work. It worked fine for the first couple of months and now it’s doing the same thing as the first one. Pump is on the fritz apparently. Truly disappointed. We owned the cafe dishwasher at our last house and loved it so we made sure that we purchased the same one when we bought our new house.

Purchased this dishwasher March of 2015. We have had at least five service calls because it does not clean the dishes. Glasses with just water in them when they went in the dishwasher come out dirtier than they went in. Residue is worse on the glasses, but other dishes are not getting completely cleaned. Forget it if something is stuck on, if you dont prewash, you are washing them again. GE has replaced numerous pieces, blamed our water was too hard until they found out we had a water softener and water system and then blamed that instead. We have changed soaps (five different brands), tried every setting in multiple ways, turned off the water system and just had the water softener run, turned everything off and nothing improves the quality of the clean. GE has even refused to pay the service technicians that they GE sent out to repair the dishwasher. Now we cant get anyone to come look at it because they are afraid they wont get paid. We have had three dishwashers prior to this one and have never had an issue with the dishes coming clean. We have maintained that there is not enough water pressure to rinse the dishes, but they are adamant this is not the case. Regardless, the dishes are still not coming clean. All we want is for it to be fixed, replaced or our money refunded. GE customer service is terrible.

I bought a GE 1750 microwave in May 2011, which got caught on fire last March 2, 2012. Now, we have to go through all the hassles of having a repair tech come out and probably be without a microwave for months!

I have had the GE Unitized washer dryer for 4 months with no problems. It has the cycle choices I need for washer and dryer. It's easy to load and remove clothes, even if the washer tub is a little deep. It washes bulky comforters, coats, heavy denim, bathroom rugs just fine. The dryer is big and quiet. It works like a HE but uses all types of detergent. Great buy! Gave 4 stars for function only because all models do not have a "rinse only" choice.

I bought this microwave about 2 years ago (2011). Yesterday the microwave turned on by itself, I tried to stop it by hitting the clear button that didnt work so I had to unplug it. When I plugged it back in it seemed ok so I reset the clock but within minutes it started again, this time the key pad read key pad short-circuit and then went blank. I am glad I was home when it happened. I am now wondering if I should repair it or replace it.

I will NEVER buy another GE product. They were not helpful over the phone when I explained to them about the paint peeling on the inside of my microwave. Its only 4 years old & should not be doing this.

GE microwave turns on by itself, creating a fire hazard. We could not figure out how our plastic plates melted, until we witnessed the GE microwave turning itself on by itself. Also filed a report with saferproducts.gov. It may have to take a death of a human to have this dangerous product recalled by GE. Great business plan, GE!

Have to rinse dishes clean before I put them in. Otherwise they will not get clean. Does as well as most other dishwashers- until you get into the very upper end ones. The racks are good size. The outside is nice looking.

I purchased a GE Microwave oven, model #JVM1540DP1BB and, in seven months, the interior paint started peeling. I contacted the company and they said, go ahead and use it. It wont hurt anything. (Well, actually, it doesnt heat as well now.) They offered me a discount on another GE Microwave. I advised them that the oven was manufactured three months prior to my purchase and so the Microwave was only ten months from birth to death - it was also made in Malaysia and so was purchased practically straight off the boat - and should have been covered under warranty. The response to that was, Im sorry. Im only authorized... Fine. Let me talk to your boss, I said.I was connected to another company mouthpiece who promised to send a serviceman out to look at it. The next week, said serviceman did come to the house. He told me they could take it in and ...see if they could fix it or they could give me a discount on another one. Again I iterated that the microwave should be replaced at no cost. He flat out told me, They wont do that.My next fiasco with this danger trap was several months later when it started turning on of its own accord. So, we had to keep the oven unplugged at all times unless actively in use. I again contacted GE and was again advised that they would be happy to offer me a discount on another... blah, blah, blah. After a couple of years of using this machine, I called GE one last time. I spoke to the regional vice-president, Gary **. The response this time was truly mind-boggling. They had no record of my having called previously!!! But, after telling them I felt their product was inherently defective by design and, not only would I never purchase another GE product EVER, I have emptied my house of any and all GE products right down to the light bulbs, have purged my mothers house, and advise everyone I know of my experience, recommending they, too, do not patronize GE.He began repeatedly screaming at me, What do you want me to do? I told him that, two or three years previous, I wanted them to replace a defective microwave. Now, and following their abhorrent customer service, I wouldnt want anything from them and, if they were to tell me the sky was blue and water was wet, I would not believe them. I was not inclined to pay six hundred dollars yearly for a new microwave oven, so there was nothing they had I would ever want. I have a GE dishwasher installed by our builder. It is 6 yrs. old and for 6 yrs. it has been a problem. I already had it serviced in last years recall and now I get another notice. It is located close to our TV viewing area. and is so noisy. I hate to run it when we are watching TV. I would never buy another GE. We are also having problem with our GE double oven. A small black piece of plastic, which snapped into the back of the microwave handle has bent/shrunk, and popped off. My microwave is just a little over one year old. I called the GE 1-800 phone number for parts, and GE does not offer a replacement part for this, without buying a whole new replacement handle, which costs over $160.00.

We have GE Profile Quietpower 6 Dishwasher. We are the second owners of the home and did not buy it ourselves. But the dishwasher is no more than 3 years old. Our dishwasher also refused to turn off after it was done washing dishes, usually humming for hours afterward. One day, we came home and found that the whole house smelt of burnt plastic. Our dishwasher was burning hot and full of burnt plastic. It was off, so we unplugged it to make sure it would cool down. We dont expect any help from GE, but we will never buy GE ourselves. And we will make sure to tell our friends to never buy GE.

I was missing my wiring/ schematic diagram with my dishwasher and after spending hours on GE website to no avail I called the service center and was told they would send me an email that I would have to respond to and then they would email me a diagram in 8-10 business days. Email in 8-10 business days... WHAT!!!! I replaced the UI board after 2 1/2 years and the control board Fault code LED was blinking 7 times for a temperature sensor circuit has become inoperable. This is their fix; Disconnect the power at the circuit breaker for about 30 seconds and then reset the dishwasher. If the problem persists, contact service. No instructions on how to reset the dishwasher anywhere. American business at its best. Never GE again!

Our Profile over-the-range microwave failed after 2 years. (Warranty was for one year!) One day it suddenly died. The repairman ($100) said repeated twisting of the wire from the oven to the door (which contains all the electronics) is inevitable with opening and closing. The wire often breaks within its insulation: a bad design fault. No question of replacing the wire; we would have to order a new door, for nearly $400 plus $200 for installation, which requires 2 service technicians. This is more than the cost of a new OTR microwave. He advised us to get one with the controls beside, not in the door. Unfortunately GE is the only company that makes a microwave in the same colour as our range.

About two years ago I moved into my condo and as a housewarming gift my sister gave me money to buy a microwave oven. I bought a GE over the range microwave. GE microwave oven (jes1651sj02) started to spark like lightning, which can be seen through the inside vent grid/grill located on the right. Sparks are seen just behind the waveguide cover where the magnetron is located. It seems to be a common problem with GE microwave ovens from what I have researched. The microwave has now stopped working and just makes an odd noise like groan or urrrrr. It’s just over 2 years old. Its a piece of **. It should last 10 years or more, like my last 2 have. I gave away our Sanyo because it wouldnt fit the decor of our new kitchen - wished I never had.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

The first GE microwave never worked right out of the box. I took it to school and let my Physics students (I am a science teacher) tear it apart and find the trouble. The magnetron was broken. Since it could possibly have happened bringing it home, I decided to let it go and went and bought a new one. This one is less than a year old and has the very scary habit of coming on by itself. Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

I pushed the oven cleaning button. After about 2 hrs I noticed smoke coming from the stove and the island where it is installed. The door would not open and the oven just got hotter and hotter and smoke was filling my house. I called 911 and they sent the fire department. After disarming the breaker, they removed the stove. I purchased the stove in 1996 but only used the auto oven cleaner a few times. The model # is jsp40 and serial # TR244121R. If I had not been home my house would have burned. I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

We purchased a Profile Dishwasher, Stove, Oven and Microwave. So far weve had problems with all products especially the dishwasher. The bottom of the dishwasher is filled with water, the door has water running down the front and all dishes have to be dried. I have talked to GE and I was told the new models do not have a drying system as in the past due to EPA. I feel like we have spent thousands of dollars for items that are trash. Had I known I would be drying dishes I would never bought GE products. I would trade this GE for a SEARS in a minute but too late. Ill keep calling GE office, maybe a miracle will occur. GE Profile Model PDW9980L00SS about 5 years old overheated and melted the bottom water sprayer into the element along with anything plastic in the dishwasher at the time. I like the electronic beepings that let you know your settings, and it can be changed to your preference. I inadvertently hit the settings button and turned off the beeping and I thought the microwave was failing after only 3 months, but I discovered my error, fixed it, and all is well.

The arching of the metal rack caused smoldering in the microwave. I prepared a baked potato in the microwave. I smelled something burning. I assumed the potato was burning. I removed it, used the microwave again and smelled the burning again. Upon close examination, I removed the rake and that is where the burning and smoke is. The plastic hook/holder was melted and the side of the microwave was charred. I called GE and they said I should not have been using the rack with such a small amount of food. I have used this microwave almost daily for years - I never knew this. They said its safe. I dont believe it is. They told me to call repair. Im not satisfied.

GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days ago, our GE Cafe Series dishwasher nearly caused a fire. If I had not been home that day, it surely would have. I ran the dishwasher as usual and went about my day several hours later. I detected a strange acrid smell and with my five-year-old who was ill and at home that day, discovered the dishwasher door was burning hot to the touch. I needed a potholder to open the door. Once opened, there was a blast of heat and smoke. I needed to use oven mitts to protect my hands from the heat to pull the racks out and handle the dishes. The heating element did not deactivate at the end of the cycle.If I had not been at home, the house would have been destroyed as all the plastic items on the top rack in the dishwasher melted. In addition the plastic parts of the lower rack, the wheels and their clips; the silverware holder; covers; the clips that hold the pot tins in place were destroyed, to the point that the majority of our silverware was coated with plastic. The plastic on the lower water dispenser has been demolished; it completely melted more than 50% of the plastic covering on the arm and is charred and burned. We are so lucky to still have a home!The door must be kept open. When the door is closed, the element super heats and presents a major fire hazard. We have noticed that there is a recall for similar models with plastic tubs, but ours has a stainless tub. GE needs to broaden the recall to include all these models. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Our GE Cafe Series dishwasher model #CDW9380N20SS was installed on October 1, 2008. I would not be surprised to find that parts from the recall in April 2008 were also used in the Cafe Series. I have discovered in the few days since the DW units malfunction that there are over 1000 complaints listed with similar, even identical complaints, on multiple internet sites with the same problems.

I bought this Microwave JVM3160 on December 2016, after six month the handle door broke but it was replaced as part of the warranty. By January 2018 (no more Warranty) it began tripping the circuit breaker. I change the power source for a dedicate circuit only for the microwave 20 AMP. The microwave blew its own fuse. I replaced its fuse. Then it blew the 20 AMP circuit breaker. That was enough. This microwave went to the garbage after 1 year and 2 month of use.

This is the second GE microwave. In 2 years I have had that, the paint peeled off inside the microwave in sheets! I contacted GE the first time and was offered no help or explanation. I was told it was an older model, even though I bought it new. This time, I just chose to throw it away and never purchase another GE appliance again!

I bought a dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago, along with GE fridge, microwave, convection oven for my remodeled kitchen. It was less than a year old, when the dishwasher control board went. GE fixed it for no charge, as it was under warranty. They sent the part, and the repairman was great. A little over a year later, the same thing happened. It is no longer under warranty. I spoke with a supervisor about this. This dishwasher was just over 2 years old, and again, the same thing happened. They were very nice, and sent a man over, after sending the same part in the mail, and again, he was very nice, and I was called to see if everything was to my satisfaction, and it was. I was not charged. It is now a few months later, and the machine will not begin the cycle. The lights are on, blink several times, then finally go off altogether. I did the troubleshooting suggestions, including turning it off via the circuit breaker to reboot, and still nothing. I am so angry. This is a relatively new machine. I am so disgusted that I will never buy another GE appliance, and strangely, I have stock in the company. Its a small amount, but stock nonetheless. What a shame. Now, I have to spend a lot of money on a repair that I should not have to. GE charges $90 just to walk in the door. I was told the second time it would be over $200 to repair a 2 year old machine. It is not the customer support nor repairmen that I am so angry about, rather, it is the ** machine, which is not even 3 years old! The thing is, I always try my best to buy American products, even cars. Before I call in a repairman, I am going dishwasher shopping, in case I decide that it is simply not worth an over $200 repair. I will not be looking at GE.

Our microwave, model number JVM1750DP1BB, was manufactured May 2011. On Monday, Dec. 30, I was heating a bagel when the small plastic hook holding the rack caught fire. The interior of the microwave burned, but I was able to put it out before it spread too far. I shudder to think what might have happened it I had been in another room. Im irritated because I keep reading that this is a common problem. Im irritated because MY HOUSE COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN. Service Dept offers a $25 discount on a new GE Microwave after cutting cord & sending info plate in. I am concerned this microwave will cause a fire! Luckily I was near and unplugged it!

My dishwasher is probably 15-20 years old. It only is run about once a week but is still holding up. Does a pretty good job of cleaning but I do a pretty thorough wipe down before loading. Great value for the money. Hope you get a stainless steel version some day.

Ordered a repair part for my GE Cafe series microwave because the touchpad failed. The person who took the order told me they had a No Hassle return policy. They shipped the part right away but I decided to replace the microwave instead. I am still waiting 3 weeks later for them to pick up the item via Fed Ex and credit my account. They told me I cannot drop it off at a Fed Ex office. This is ridiculous!

Microwave is a 2001 and works just fine. There are a couple of things that could be better and that’s the exhaust and the lighting outside of microwave. Possibly could be more energy efficient but are bigger models built that way?

We have a five-year old GE Profile Microwave that has an LCD panel. It is a nice feature, but it has become unresponsive to touch and now will cost us $500 to replace the LCD panel. We will just buy a KitchenAid instead. The LCD panel is not sealed, so when you cook, even using the exhaust fan, the moisture gets up in there and damages the panel. This is such a terrible design. We paid $600 for this microwave thinking it is a good quality appliance. Never buy GE! I was in Best Buy yesterday and told people who were there looking at microwaves. Terrible quality! We have to purchase a whole new microwave hood range now.

I also have a GE Profile dishwasher with malfunctioning wheels. I read this site, and was comforted and enraged that I was not alone with my melting wheels. I sent GE customer service a note, explaining my problem. I also included a link to this site in my note. I explained that I was a loyal GE customer and that they should stand behind their products although my unit was no longer covered under warranty and did not qualify for the recall. GE responded to my e-mail with in 12 hours. They sent me a complete set of new wheels for my bottom rack free of charge, and sent out a technician to install them, again free of charge. They also e-mailed me to make sure I was happy and no longer had concerns. I am thrilled with my experience. Let me say that again I e-mailed GE and within 8 days (a holiday included), I had new wheels and a technician to install them at no charge.

I have bought 3 GE appliances in the past 2-5 years, a microwave, dishwasher and oven with cooktop. They are all white and the white paint is peeling off. The microwave is the worst with most of the paint gone from the metal around the window inside. I will never buy another GE appliance again. To have 3 different appliances with peeling paint signals a definite quality control problem in the company.

Purchased a microwave 5 weeks ago. When cooking it smells like something is burning. GE would only issue a goodwill certificate. Now Im forced to buy another GE product. After taking the cover off its clear that one of the connectors actually melted. It bubbled up and turned black. Because of this and the fact that other reviewers had the same problem. I dont want to buy another GE product. I dont think its unreasonable to get a refund since its only been 5 weeks. If I have purchased at a different store with a longer return policy I would be able to just bring it back to the store. Apparently the quality of GE products has gone down. I would not recommend.

I may be speaking too soon because I need to run my dishwasher again to make sure the minor leak truly has been fixed, but I am very impressed with the responsiveness of GE customer support. There was virtually no wait to talk to a rep about my 2-month-old dishwasher with a drip (plus water was collecting inside). Less than twenty four hours after my call, a friendly man was at my door to fully diagnose and then correct the issue. This was the cheapest, bottom-of-the line model that they so quickly came to service! While heating a bowl of butter, my microwave arced. Microwave had smoke and electric fire smell. I have contacted GE. They said it was a rare issue. From the reviews on this site, I do not believe that this is a rare issue. They offered a 25 dollar coupon to buy another one. I do not believe I would do that. I have a GE microwave manufactured Nov. 2013, model #JES1456DS1WW, Serial # VA201954 L. I purchased it at Home Depot. I have had it about 2 years. Suddenly it started flashing PF. I unplugged and plugged, and reset the clock several times, but it continued to do this, about 2 days, then just stopped working at all. The GE website listed on the product proclaimed GE Cares; I couldnt seem to find anyone who did despite numerous calls. We purchased a complete kitchen of Profile appliances. Everything is fine except dishwasher! The first one didnt clean food and left scum on everything... The company sent service several times replacing many parts.... finally gave us a new one... It still doesnt clean. It will not remove peanut butter, avocado, and my teacups are perpetually stained dark brown. My old dishwasher, Kenmore, left my dishes sparkling... no matter what was on them, plus I didnt have to run my kitchen sink to get hot water first! I will not use GE in my next house which will be built in about 3-4 years.

We purchased a black over the stove microwave from GE, the oven has great preset buttons and it extremely easy to use. It looks sleek and works great. The only issue we have had was a few months after purchase we tried to change the bulb for one of the lights and the entire mechanism crumbled and fell out so we only have one light now over the stove. Disappointing but everything else works great.

GE Dishwashers are very dependable and do a great job. I have not experienced any issues with mine. The pricing is very competitive and easy on the wallet. You may be able to find a cheaper dishwasher but just remember, you get what you pay for.

Sure enough, the second microwave stopped working and went complete dead a little over a year. I have always heard bad things about GE products, now I can confirm those negative comments about GE products are true.

My GE dishwasher was installed the first week of October, 2019. After 3 loads, the unit was no longer functioning properly. I called GE to set up a service appointment to get them to come look at the dishwasher. It ended up taking 3 different technicians, ordering 3 different parts, at 3 different appointments before the problem was fixed (or so I thought). By the time I was able to use my dishwasher again, it was already the end of December and my 30 day return window expired. It is now mid January and I am already having the same problem as before and having to go through the whole process again. Because the year warranty is only for repairs, they will not just replace the unit, and instead I will have to continue dealing with this nightmare. Obviously, I will just be replacing my unit on my own after this.... And it will not be with GE!

When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.
