JVM1540 - We replaced the microwave that came with our home above the stove. When we took the old one out, the blower was not installed properly for ventless. We thought that had to be the reason it just stopped working. We felt sure it wasnt GEs fault as we have always trusted them for a quality product worth the price. WRONG! I cant help but wonder if Lowes knows they are selling a costly piece of junk! When our new one quit working, we replaced the fuse 3 times, now it says keyboard is shorted service required. And thanks to this site I am tossing this piece of junk without spending any more money. GE shame on you!

I have a 15 year old washer/dryer set that has worked consistently and it resides at a rental property. I purchased GE washer/dryer set for primary home 4 years ago and it's awesome. It's the level 1-2 steps above basic model and has enough settings to fit my needs (maybe more than I even use) such as pre-soaking, 4 settings for loads and much more. I would not purchase anything besides GE appliances. Very reliable and easy to interface with.

Two years ago, I replaced my 25-year-old GE bottom-of-the-line dishwasher because it made a noise like a freight train. I was ecstatically happy to have a brand new top-of-the-line stainless steel GE Profile dishwasher that hardly made a sound while working. Well, that is the best part of the new machine because it also hardly cleans. We have tried different detergents, additives, etc. We have checked our water temp, pressure, etc. Not only does the machine not clean all the silverware/dishes, it doesnt dissolve and remove all of the liquid detergent, so I have to run the machine through another rinse cycle. We are so frustrated in my house that we have finally given up and now hand wash our dishes. I hate this dishwasher and would never buy another GE product again! I also had an issue with a GE bottom freezer fridge. But thats another story. By the way, the old 25-year-old machine? It always got my dishes clean.

My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

I bought the GE dishwasher in the slate color, just after a colleague at work did - within a few weeks of each other. Hers has already been repaired twice and is still not working. Mine was installed last week - and did not work even one time. No water getting to it. Had the connection checked and installer confirmed the dishwasher was defective. Im sending it back and want nothing more to do with GE products. I wish I had seen/looked for these reviews before I bought it.

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. This was insulting. Shame on GE.

My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

Our washing machine has been with us for almost ten years and I really love the features which make it look modern and easy to dump in a load when we're running late for something. It has been having problems recently but it still runs okay, with only a few hiccups but for a little over ten years, that's pretty good!

I had a new GE profile microwave which broke off couple of times and finally after 4 years of using it had to replace it. Since it was a built in so had not many options for replacement and went for GE again. This time the new microwave had a faulty door switch. It wasnt opening up every time. Scheduled an appointment and no one showed up - waiting for the whole day. I called the customer service 3 times and learnt that they had ordered some parts and were waiting for that. No one called and conveyed me this. I learnt myself after waiting from 8 am to 5 pm and upon calling them. They rescheduled me for a week later so that the parts can arrive. The day before the appointment I called again and now they dont have me in the scheduled appointment and got another appointment a week later. IT IS SUCH A BAD COMMUNICATION BY GE. I will NEVER recommend GE to anyone.

Bought the whole GE profile kitchen series 2 years ago. Last week the microwave went dark, blew a component, and is dead. With only two people using it off and on for reheating, hardly got our money worth. Called GE for assistance and went back to the store where it was purchased. No one offered any financial assistance with the loss. The microwave itself was $500. My husband and I are very disappointed in the product and service.

My 4-month old dishwasher started to leak so I called GE to repair since it is still under warranty. Technician said there was a superfluous piece on the gasket which he removed. Dishwasher was fine for about 2 cycles when it started to leak again. As GE do not have a weekend service I had to take a second half day off work. Different technician said the gasket was not pushed in correctly and I should check it each time before running it. Shouldnt this be part of the design - a gasket that stays put?! Ran the dishwasher. Water all over the floor. The new floor that is getting ruined by this clearly faulty appliance.

We bought a brand new GE dishwasher from our local hardware store on Black Friday. It was $600 dishwasher on sale. It was installed on December 5th, it broke on December 6th, and we had a repair man come out to take a look at it. To be fair, the local hardware store did ask if we wanted to replace (2 week wait time) or repair (2 day wait time) it. Since it was a bolt that was severed (by opening the door to the machine, mind you), we figured it would be an easy fix. The first technician who visited said, Yeah, its broken. I have to order a new bolt and then come back out in a week to fix it. And oh, by the way, Ill have to drill a new hole for it too. Thats when I called GE customer service to request a new product. But since my 48 hour window had passed, and we opted to have it fixed, it was keep it or ask our local hardware store to replace it at their expense. I bit the bullet and just had it repaired. Now, less than 2 months later, the technician has been at our house three times. He’s soon to have a fourth visit because we need a new dispense modulator. After speaking with customer service several more times, and with a not very nice lady in the Chairmans office, I still have a defective product. Oh, did I mention that Im paid hourly and have now taken off 13 hours? So what’s the use of that $600 dishwasher that we bought? Its been out of commission for more than 2 weeks, in less than 2 months, and has now cost us $900. Thanks, GE! We’re so glad to see you stand behind your product.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher, model PDW9880J00ss, in July 2005, along with GE range, refrigerator and microwave oven. We have had nothing but trouble with them. Most currently, the power board did not shut off at the end of the cycle, overheated and melted the harness also. We were alerted when the odor of burnt plastic filled our home. It was fortunate that we were home and in the next room, or our house could have burned down. The dishwasher cannot be repaired. I will contact GE to see what, if anything they will do to compensate me, but I am not optimistic. I will never buy GL products again. I thought by buying top of the line products from a well-known manufacturer, I would have a quality product. I was totally wrong. Sometimes, you dont get what you pay for.

When the handle on my expensive replacement (GE Profile for GE Profile) microwave/convection oven peeled, we called our retailer (PC Richards is really good about service). A new door showed up and it, too, has a plastic handle. The difference is, this time its solid grey plastic as opposed to white plastic with silver paint. Seems to me that an expensive SS appliance should have an SS handle. Too heavy? Just use a tube of SS - not solid. Too hot if above burners? Didnt my last GE Profile micro/convection have a SS handle? I spoke with customer relations. The person was well trained not to say anything that might suggest she agreed with me. Since the issue is cosmetic and not functional, I have to consider the issue dealt with now that the door has been replaced. I told them I will do my best to publicize this issue and that I will never again purchase a GE appliance. I also called CEO Jeff Immelts office in Connecticut. I made it clear that my dissatisfaction has cost them a long time, loyal customer and that I would spread the word. I would appreciate if anyone agrees with GE that a SS handle would be too hot over stove burners.

We bought the countertop stainless steel microwave model JES1142SJ the end
We bought the countertop stainless steel microwave model JES1142SJ the end of 2010. Noticed a rust ring under the revolving paint about a month ago. The paint was chipped off and when I washed it with a dish cloth, more came off. It is getting worse. We didnt stop using it since it seems it is only coming off under the plate but is it safe to continue using? Could it catch fire? Is it putting bad things in the food we heat in it? Even though it is not an expensive microwave ($100-$125) it should not be rusting inside. It should last longer than 3 years!Sounds like GE will not back up their products since so many microwaves owners are complaining about the paint being inferior and flaking off. There should be a recall for this problem on all microwaves sold by GE. Complaints have been from countertop to the most expensive dual stoves! This is not acceptable and GE needs to step up and deal with the problem with their microwaves that they sell. I usually buy GE; but this is making me have 2nd thoughts and think that my ones I bought in 2010 will be the last purchased from GE.They did come out twice for my range when the oven stopped working at 2 years and one of the eye knobs to turn on and off needed to be replaced when it would not turn off. But a 2 year old stove should not have needed any repairs. I noticed a big difference in quality after I bought this new one when we moved. My old GE from 1996 is still my favorite one and is still working just fine in my sons house.

I have had a fridge, a washer and a microwave oven from GE. I have been so disappointed in all three, but the microwave oven disappointed me the most. The door broke around the handle and the hinges, and was replaced shortly after buying it. Then it broke again and I replaced it myself. Then it broke again. This makes me not want to try another GE product. The fridge shelves all broke because they were plastic. The washer fell apart shortly after a year. It is just myself and my husband using them, so they should last for years. When you buy large item, you would like them to last a long while.

We bought a GE dishwasher a little over 3 years ago. In the last week of September we awoke to the smell of hot or melted plastic. We found the source to be the dishwasher. I had loaded and started it before going to bed the night before. The counter-top above the dishwasher was stove top hot and upon opening the dishwasher found that a cutting board that we have had for many years and have always put in the dishwasher had melted on top of the heating coil. Dishwasher safe items on the top rack melted as well. It had been drying for at least 9 hours. After pulling the dishwasher out we saw the heat shield had melted and was crumbling. We contacted GE, sent them all the pictures and they told us it was not a safety issue. We have no doubt that if we had not woken up so early we would have had a fire in our house caused by the dishwasher.

Super sad about the performance of this dishwasher. This is the second leak in a year. The first time my husband fixed with new GE pump because we wanted the dishwasher up and running and the scheduled repair time was out more than a week. We were also told there would be no reimbursement to the damage to the brand new floor that was damaged. This time I REFUSE to have him fix the dishwasher even though once again the repair time is out more than a week. The cost of this dishwasher should warrant a functioning product.

I own a GE Model #JNM1731DM1CC that came with my condo, in March of 2008. After two weeks, the tray was spinning, and nothing was heating up. They came, and replaced something, and it worked again. It is now November of 2011, and the ** thing doesnt go off. When the timer stops, and you open the door, the table turns, and the microwave is on, letting rays come right out at you. I have to unplug it after every use, so that I dont expose myself to rays coming from the microwave. I spoke with several appliance repair shops, and they told me that it is probably the circuit board, and that to repair it would run at least $200. I am so disgusted with GE. I also have a stove that practically blew up, when the door shattered, after only having it for six months. They had to come and replace the whole glass front. I doubt very much, if they will help me, because it took at least 12 calls to get them to replace the glass door, with the glass all over the place, and inside the oven, four days before Easter dinner at my house.

So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

This caused soapy water to flow out of the machine all over the floor. It was fixed under warranty but by June 29, 2017 it broke again. It is no longer under warranty and it will cost $70 to 100 to fix it again. It was purchased at Home Depot and they state it is to be handled by GE. We bought a model PVM9215SK3SS microwave as part of an over-the-range microwave oven/extractor fan combo. Unlike every other microwave combo weve ever had in our frequent moves, this microwave cannot run the kitchen timer independently of the microwave. If you try to set the kitchen timer when the microwave is running, the cook-time changes and overcooks whats in the microwave. If you try to set the microwave to cook while the timer is timing a food cooking on the range, it simply refuses to work. The instructions are very hard to both find and then understand, having been written in China to cover many different models. Apparently I can ask my phone to turn it on. I sure cant manage that very often in person! The fan is too loud for comfortable use even at the lowest speed, which is a great disappointment. A former Profile model was very quiet at every speed, and much more efficient. Were saving up for something that works.

Model GLD5660V00SS - seems to be an entry-level dishwasher compared to others I have used/had in the past. It is rather small inside - usually have to run it every day or every other day for just two of us. It is plastic inside and the wheels have already come off a couple of times even though Ive only been using it since July. Having said that, it does a decent job cleaning and is easy to load. The outside with the stainless panel is attractive and the controls are easy to use. It has a large, removable silverware bin that keeps silverware from nesting. However, the holes are not large enough for the knives to fit in properly. The tops are removable, so I can just put them in another section.

Last night, out of nowhere, the microwave started running. I realized that it was actually heating when the glass turntable popped. I jumped up and opened the door to stop the heating. The turntable was broken. The interior was incredibly hot. Having read several reviews I realize that this is not an uncommon problem. I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

Purchased my first GE dishwasher 3 -4 years ago, it died, one month before the warranty ran out, they sent a repairman at no charge, acted like he did not know what he was doing, mumbled something about a part and left saying they would return with a part 2 weeks later he comes back and says that they cannot fix it and they sent me a replacement dishwasher free of charge, 13 months later and it died, So I bought a more expensive GE dishwasher thinking it would last, wrong, 15 months later and its dead, went to parts select and troubleshooted it, ordered all parts recommended to fix the issue and its still dead, these parts cost me 300, so I contacted GE to see what they had to say, no help at all except to only charge me for 50% of parts, I have to pay for house call and labor and installation, gee what a deal NOT bottom line, GE dishwashers are junk, dont buy them.

I bough a GE microwave oven, model JVM1740SM1SS, less than 2 years ago. The keypad says that it is shorted out and needs service. It turns on randomly. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it will either say, service needed, keypad shorted out or press clock.GE has so many complaints about there microwaves, some that are very serious. They still claim that there are no problems with them. They have to know there are problems, but do not want to issue a recall and take a financial lose. Its only a matter of time, before something so serious happens that it will be a bigger financial lose than a recall.

Not a very good job at cleaning, plus takes over two hours to run. It has a steam function, to help clean grease off of dishes, and should be used for simple cleaning too. Although the instructions state it can hold settings of 8, we have never been able to use more than 4 before it is packed. The utensil holders are almost useless. It has nice lighting for controls and a clean front. The installations instructions are not very good. They also did not include an elbow to connect to the water supply, which the hardware store manager said is standard connection, so GE just wanted to save $4.00 and piss off the customers instead.

Luckily, no one was hurt except we are still getting glass in our feet a week later. My husband and I both contacted GE by email with no response whatsoever. Clearly, having read about this happening to many others, this product should have been recalled. It is their top of the line. The microwave wasnt even in use. We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

Purchased a GE 650 dishwasher which we quickly discovered has terrible racking for North American dishware. Also the control panel is overly complicated yet limited to use (always flashes settings even when not in use). Once you figure out how to load dishes into the very tight/ narrow tines they fall over and chip/break. When investigating the dishwashers by GE made in China/Taiwan etc all have same issue. The ones made in USA by GE have wider and longer tines. We have had MANY dishwashers over the 40 years and NEVER had one as bad as this. When calling GE customer service the senior rep was not willing to offer any customer satisfaction as nothing technically was wrong. At one point she stated we had made the purchase so live with it even though it was the wrong choice. We offered to pay for any cost difference, etc. When questioned about GEs interest in customer satisfaction she stated that was not a warranty issue. She was not concerned about a satisfied customer. With that, we will not be purchasing another GE product or its affiliates. What a waste of money.

Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchased and installed in 2009. First off the exhaust fan is terrible and is very noisy. The product itself worked well until recently when now the microwave heats intermittently, one time it will come on and heat, next time nothing. The fan runs, but no heating. The truly frustrating part is I need the front venting and no other units have the vents that blow the air outward, all the new units blow the air straight up your cabinets. Certainly a high end unit should last longer than 5 years with only two adults using it now and then. The cost of the service is outrageous and I surely would not use the $100 rebate on another GE product if they do not last any better than this one.

After the 2nd technician came out I ran my dishwasher and at 2AM realized something was wrong because it was still running. I came into the kitchen to find my entire kitchen floor flooded in boiling hot water, ruining my cabinet baseboards. I have since had two service calls canceled at the end of the time designated and today I have no technician showing up. Customer no-service is saying technician tried to call me; I have recd no call and have no message left. I have taken multiple days off work to sit at home waiting, and waiting. Their service department is absolutely terrible. The motherboard went out after only 8 months of use. They never notified the appliance repair company that the part was back ordered (I had to follow-up on that) and every step of the way I kept being told someone will follow-up in 2-3 business days. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call to check on the status of my claim EVERY time. The request for a replacement dishwasher after two weeks was denied because the part was going to be available in another week, but then I wouldnt receive the part for a minimum of another week after that. When I asked to speak to a superior she refused and told me no one was available. After demanding to speak to one I was told they would contact me in ANOTHER 2-3 business days (well see if that ever happens). This is (still going on) an absolutely awful service experience. I dont care that the dishwasher broke, I care that theyve handled it so poorly.

GE Profile microwave Model: PEB7226SF1SS came as part of the builder installation. In the first year had issues with the microwave not starting intermittently and had to call GE support who sent in a technician who had to work on the door alignment and the switch was the problem which said to have fixed. About 2.5 year from purchase the heating seemed to be irregular which we did not take much notice and then it stopped working completely. We called GE support and did get the usual routine of the product being out of warranty and have to pay for the technician. While scheduling they realized they did not have a their own service person in the vicinity and was advised to reach out to local service person.Local technician diagnosed that the magnetron has gone bad and advised most manufacturers have 10 years warranty on the magnetron as they are supposed to last for a long time and I should reach out to GE. Having reached out to GE support again to our surprise were advised that unlike most manufacturers this product did not have 10 year magnetron warranty. Customer service, part service and customer relations kept redirecting to each other. GE does not provide an option to sell the replacement magnetron to the customer and now want their authorized center to be engaged and paid again to have the part ordered and installed. Disappointed with GE product quality, their stand on warranty compared to their competition and their service which has given me run around and no solution. I have written to them asking for solution which they havent responded yet.

GE Model PDW9280J10SS Fire - Many GE Profile dishwashers have been recalled during the same time frame as the model we purchased, but it is not listed as one of the recall models. Just as many other complaints, ours started to smoke out of the top of the front door and filled our house with smoke. Thank God we were there to shut it off. The next day I opened up the front door to see what had been burning and it had holes burnt in front and back of the main circuit box (for lack of better name), one burn mark right where the main wire harness plugs in and burnt right through it. This is the same description many others have written. There is a problem with all of these Profile dishwashers purchased between 2006 and 2009 (ours 2007). GE Profile Dishwasher Model GLD4400N10WW - This was the second GE dishwasher I have purchased and it will be the last. When guests come to my home, they ask whats wrong with my dishwasher when helping me in the kitchen. The racks are bubbled and there is a burn mark by the heating element from overheating. The dishes have always been too hot to unload afterwards that you have to leave the door open for ten minutes before touching them, or you will burn your hands. I purchased this dishwasher from Lowes on 2/23/2008 for $368.88. I see that there is a recall on the dishwasher now, and it is only worth a repair. Quite frankly, my dishwasher is all ruined inside and it needs more than just a new heating element. It isnt worth it to me. It is very noisy and sounds awful when I use it. I will not be putting any money into replacement parts at this point, and I am very disappointed with my purchase. A dishwasher should last more than 3.5 years. My dishwasher should be replaced for free, not just get a new element. My husband is a licensed builder and he will not be using GE either, after this experience. I am enclosing a photo of the burns.

High efficiency Dishwasher have long run cycles and most dont dry to well. The silverware trays hold water because the tray sides are flat (horizontal) and that holds about a half of cup of water. All they have to do is put them on a 45 degree angle and the water will run off. Apparently it worked well on paper and no one actually ran it through its cycle. Our dishwasher has gotten very warm mid-cycle and now trips the breaker in the house each time we run the cycle. The problem became evident in April 2012. We have called in a GE repair person to fix it and they said it was a heating issue and not repairable. We have not used it since, but have not replaced it with a new one yet. In August, we read about the recall of a similar model number manufactured within same time frame. Our machine model is PDW7300J03WW, the recalled model is PDW7. Our machines serial # is **. Strangely, the serial number is not listed in the recall, even though symptoms are exactly the same!We have called GE Consumer Affairs at 1-800-386-1215 four times, the most recent today, 9/14/2012. Each time we call, we are left on hold for 59 minutes only to be disconnected automatically! I am sending a registered letter to GE CA with a copy of this link and intend to contact my local news if I do not receive sufficient response within the week. Does GE need to see an actual fire report from my fire department or worse in order to get their attention to replace the unit? It is disgraceful and extremely dangerous.

Just bought a Monogram dishwasher one week ago, and the front sound barrier fell off. The service man came out, took a look, and said it was not a big deal. I questioned him why it fell off within such a short period. He stated that it was GEs policy: to make Monogram quieter than competitors, they put in sound barrier in front. However, it fell off often. Since it does not affect how the dishwasher work, GE does not believe that it is a big deal. Therefore, no need for quality control, and he will use new glue to glue it back. No guarantee that it will not fall off later... What is GE stand on the engineering products any more? I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

Its been more than 2 months that GE repair has been TRYING to repair my 4 month old dishwasher. 4 service calls, 3 wrongly ordered parts, GE blaming repair company, and repair CO. blaming GE. The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. Will never consider buying GE products ever again.

GE Profile Microwave/Convection Oven JVM1790WK, over the range unit, CAUGHT
GE Profile Microwave/Convection Oven JVM1790WK, over the range unit, CAUGHT ON FIRE while microwaving water for coffee. One of the four prongs that holds the oven grid in place started flaming wildly and smoking after about one minute of microwaving. My whole kitchen has an acrid awful burning smell. This is my second unit for a small kitchen, and I will be lost without this. The first one I had the handle fell off. This one is too dangerous to use. These units cost $600!!! I cannot afford to replace one every few years. Maybe this model and brand is bad news?

GE appliances were installed in my new build home including a brand new, never used microwave. When we did our walkthroughs the microwave appeared to work (turned on, timer ran, etc.) but after signing we found out that the unit was a dud and the microwave emitter did not work so nothing was ever heated regardless of the run time. We have called GE several times only to get extremely rude and dismissive customer service reps (“Audrey” if that was even her real name). They refuse to replace a brand new unit that never worked and insist on trying to repair it, but we are also being told that this will take several trips as the technician will only first come to inspect it then a second trip will be needed to bring out the necessary parts (they don’t carry them in the truck because they are “fragile”). I’ll never be using a GE product again.

I have a GE dishwasher that shut itself off after three uses. It was rebooted by a repairman, and worked once. GE repairman called to let me know and I was originally scheduled for today but have been canceled. I’m taking the day off but for nothing. There’s no number to call. There’s no one to complain to. JCPenney is not standing by their merchandise because I did not buy an extended warranty. Originally purchased in November 2017. The machine was replaced by GE in December 2017. I have a dishwasher that I paid over $500 for and I’ve used it four times.

Over-the-range microwave failure (model JVM2052, manufactured Dec. 2010) was purchased and installed professionally in March 2011. Total cost is $546. First, the fan failed in about June 2012 and I thought I can live with this. In Sept. 2012, the unit failed, but the interior light and clock still work. I paid $97.00 for a service call from the dealer, and the tech said the power source failed(?). Estimated parts and labor for repair is $370. So, I will buy a new unit (not GE) and pay about $150 for delivery and installation and take away this GE unit. I live in Morris County, NJ and this is not a rural area! GE service rep whom I called said GE doesnt service this area and to look in the yellow pages for an authorized dealer. I called again and got the name and address of the president of GE Appliances, and I am going to write about this product.

Nine cycles but none of them dry the dishes. Very quiet, cleans the dishes very well. Like the third drawer, very handy. The only complaint is that it does not dry the dishes. No combination of cycles will dry the dishes.

Bought a GE Dishwasher on March 31st 2017. Used it in April & May, left June 1st for the summer so dishwasher was not used for 2 mo. Tried to use it in August when we got back it didnt work. Would not pump water. Called GE. They sent a service tech. out, replaced the pump, still didnt work. So next week they came out again & this time ordered a Computer board. Ever since then they have came out twice a month to repair dishwasher. Always something different. I requested 3 different times to have it replaced they refused. So I straight up asked if they were just trying to run me out of warranty & then drop me. Well, guess what - they came out for the last time on 4/5/2018 to repair it for the last time out of warranty. They turned me down every time to just replace it. WORST PRODUCT EVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, POOR POOR POOR.

I moved into our house about 27 years ago, and have had to replace every single appliance except the microwave. The oven, fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher—all replaced at least one time over. But this 90s GE microwave keeps humming along. I really should replace it just because it is this awful off-white color and everything else in our kitchen is part of a beautiful stainless steel/black/white scheme, but it is actually built right into a cabinet and I fear I will not be able to get another microwave in there. The only gripe I have about its performance is the fan comes on and roars full-blast anytime the stove or oven is on. It is so loud its difficult to talk over.

I purchased a GE Dishwasher 3 months ago and it has been broke (wont drain) for almost a month. I tried to schedule a service through GE since it is under the warranty and they never showed up for the second time. I called and complained but it is not just the product, their service is even worst than the product. I am going to take the unit to Home Depot and ask for a refund or exchange with another brand. It is suppose to be brand new and wont drain or can we get a service scheduled. Never buying this brand again.

It is about six years old, great dishwasher. The bad part is the new detergent! GE profile, pre-rinse, preheat water, everything, including enough water. Hold everything, unfortunately, now aluminum must be hand washed. Good looking, curved front. Its great, I shudder to think what the new low water usage ones will be like. I HATE my new low water usage washing machine. I HATE the reformulated dishwasher detergent, can be used on anything aluminum, now I use lots more water hand washing all aluminum items!!!

GE built-in oven with microwave on top in white color, model no. JKP90CMICC
GE built-in oven with microwave on top in white color, model no. JKP90CMICC. Microwaves outside door is peeling off in chunks. This is a manufacturer defect and I have contacted GE to see if they will stand behind their products quality and replace this door of the microwave. I have heard so many negative things about GE customer service so I dont have much hope but I have to pay to replace this poorly constructed door. I will never buy another GE product and I will spread the word on how they treat their customers. I will post again when and if I hear back from them.

My GE microwave (Model: JVM1540SN1SS) that I bought new two years ago for $250.00 broke already. The table doesnt turn and nothing heats up even though the timer works. There are only two adults in the household using it, and we dont even use it very often. I find this pitiful service. My last microwave lasted about 15 years.

GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

I purchased a newly built home which had all GE appliances in the kitchen. After 2 years and 5 months, the microwave no longer heats the food. I had a 3rd party appliance repairman come to do a diagnostic evaluation. He informed me that the magnetron has gone bad. To have this repaired would be the same price as purchasing a new microwave. He also informed me that the magnetron should never go bad in such a short amount of time. I contact GE and my warranty was for 2 year so the best they can offer is a $75 good will certificate. What this means is I have to purchase a new microwave and send in proof of purchase and in 4-8 week, GE will send me a $75 rebate check.I am disappointed in the GE product. Their products are now made in Asia (my microwave says made in Malaysia) for cheap labor and the quality has gone down. What is worse is that they do not stand by their product. The fact that something as serious as the magnetron went out in less than 3 years is a red flag that it was not assembled correctly. The microwave is listed at over $500. I would have been happy with GE even paying half but $75 will not even cover the cost for shipping and installation. I am very disappointed.

I purchase GE Profile appliances for my new home. I thought I had done my research but until I actually owned I found I feel differently. The microwave pad scratches very easy and after only a few months you can see which buttons I use the most. I’ve only used a microfibers cloth to clean and it scratched the surface. Appliance repairman said to use terry towel. Wish I’d known that. Secondly, after owning all Samsung appliances previously I now appreciate what I had. So many of the features of my past microwave are not on this GE. For example the vegetable good, built in sensory knew when vegetables were cooked. Also, soften butter and chocolate was another feature. Thaw meat knew when it was thawed. So my advise go for the Samsung microwave

Our brand new GE Profile dishwasher wasnt cleaning dishes (even after rinsing them before stacking them in the dishwasher). GE technician came several times and lectured me how I need to open hot water faucet before turning on the dishwasher, about how I should stack the dishes in the dishwasher, etc... all bogus talk. Our builder was kind enough to replace the dishwasher because he saw how frustrating it was to deal with GE service. The new GE Profile (i.e. replaced by builder) works without opening hot water faucet, or washing the dishes or stacking them in any particular manner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend GE Products because GE service is HORRIBLE and their products arent that great. I have GE Profile all over my kitchen. Within the first year, my microwave, dishwasher and built-in fridge broke down!!!

I cant remember the exact date of purchase for my GE Spacemaker microwave oven. I have a receipt somewhere, but I have receipts for repair dated 2002. It is for a door seal gasket for the microwave. A model JVM60 GE Spacemaker installed over the range. The microwave worked perfectly for several years. Then one day, when I pressed the start button, I noticed a small fire inside the window above the control panel where the time is displayed. I called repair man; I was told that it was the circuit board, and GE was not able to send repair spare part. Since then the microwave is only good for displaying the time, and storing my everyday pan. I do remember paying $400.00 for this microwave because I purchased it at my employment. It would seem to me a company making a $400.00 appliance would be backed by a circuit board, which they know would go bad in a short time. Thats why they only had a one year warranty guarantee. To show you the difference in a microwave appliance, I purchased a small counter top microwave in 1997; it still works like a charm, and I use it every day. From the negative reviews I read on these Spacemaker microwaves, I firmly believe there should be some compensation to us consumers for the money spent, plus the hazards we experienced. If that is not agreed, then all of us consumers should file a class action suit against GE.

I am so disgusted. My 1 year and 2 months old microwave could have burned down my house. It got very hot so much you couldnt even touch it! Microwave product code JES1344SK. This should be a recall and customers should not need to have to pay for these to have them fixed. GE should be grateful this didnt start the house on fire and no one was killed by it! I will never by GE again!
