Product Reviews:

The Bradford White Gas Power Vent water heater failed without warning overnight causing extensive flooding and water damage to a finished basement. Water heater was almost 10 years old. Should be built with a safety water cut off valve that ceases water supply to water heater if incoming water rate is greater than exiting flow.

My husband and I have had nothing but problems working with this company. Their product is inferior. We have had more than 3 complaints with this water heater. Within 3 weeks of my husband passing away, we have had the control valve/thermostat fail, twice. The day of his memorial, my entire family had to go to neighbors to get hot showers. The using of "American" in their name is misleading and manipulative. I hope to spare other customers the utter pain and frustrating at dealing with this so-called company.

The installation process was very fast and easy. My experience with the company customer service was amazing and they were very kindly. The water heater is just amazing. It's very convenient and easy to use. I just love that I don't have to worry about my water anymore. Hopefully I could get my family to get one just like I did. It really does help a lot and it's something everyone would love to have in their house. I do recommend this a lot but not use if all the brands work as good as mine. It doesn't take a lot of space and it works perfectly fine. I've tried other ways but this water heater makes life easier and nice.

I have owned Craftmaster 30-gallon hot water heater and the only things reliable about it is trouble and aggravation. I purchased this in 2004. I have had to replace the controls, valves, wires, etc. three times in 10 years. And I'm now looking at doing it a fourth time. The design of these parts are utter crap! Cheap plastic! After replacing these parts, this hot water heater works great for a few years, then invariably starts acting up. The pilot light goes out when the heater is supposed to kick on instead. Getting the pilot light lit again, is an exercise in futility! The red "reset button" once released, immediately extinguishes the ignition flame. Supposedly, after holding it down for 1-2 minutes allowing gas to build up, it should light the coils... and if it doesn't, you're supposed to wait 10 minutes to try relighting again. You can repeat this process for 12 hours, and if you finally do get this temperamental piece of junk to light, you're lucky. Customer Service has been useless in assistance. All they want to do is send you e-mail, and get you off the phone. Not to mention, I've been told by many a rep that the hot water heater extinguishes itself, if water is overheated, and that it must be my fault for setting the temp too hot. Baloney... I've been told that the underside vent must be cleaned every few months, so that air flow is accurate. Makes no difference one way or the other. And recently, I've been told by a rep, that my 40-yr-old house likely doesn't vent exhaust out through the roof properly. This product is inferior and unpredictable. It's great when it works, and the pilot light stays lit. God forbid it ever goes out though! It is next to impossible to relight. I have spent more money on service technicians attempting to repair/replace parts, than it would have cost to simply by a new hot water heater. I miss the old days, when it was easy to light a hot water heater: Strike a match, turn the gas on, and instant hot water. No muss, no fuss. Having owned many properties w/ hot water heaters over the years, I have never encountered such repeat problems, as with this product. It's simply not reliable, and not worth the $$$. Never again, will I buy a Craftmaster Product. And I had no clue that there was a Class Action Suit filed, and a settlement involved in these faulty units. Whirlpool/Craftmaster should have notified everyone, who purchased one of their units. Now I'm stuck w/ a constantly broken unit, and zero recourse. I will never buy anything Whirlpool/Craftmaster again, as a result.

I bought it on 11-24 13. I called Whirlpool on 1-29-13 and got no response. I called 3 or 4 times and still haven't heard from them. It's now 4-1-13 and still nothing. I tried many times and got the runaround from them. They owe me money for repairs to the heater. I will not ever buy from them again. Just thought you all should know about this.

Gas control not working. I have replaced the thermostat twice in three years. Now, the hot water tank pilot will not light. The igniter works; a new thermostat has been properly installed, and the pilot will not light. The gas is on, and the tank has functioned. I just want a new gas control.

“After using my Noritz Tankless Heater for a few months, I am very pleased with its performance. My gas bill has been cut in half and I have hot water on demand, with no cold hot issues, like some that I have heard of. Thanks again for your assistance with the buying process.”

My 50 Gallon water heater is still under warranty, model #051718153. The water heater shuts down after a few minutes. There's a sound of a leak inside the tank. They would not replace the tank; they'd only replace parts. We have already replaced the outer control box and the double burner, and there's nothing else to replace except the tank, which they refuse to do so. If I had called them and said there's water coming out from the heater, they'd have agreed to send me a new tank, but honesty doesn't work.

I have a Rheem water heater Model # 22V30F with a broken "Pilot Knob". I contacted Rheem and multiple parts suppliers. They all told me the same thing. Rheem does NOT sell the Pilot Knob individually. I need to purchase the "Gas Control Valve" which costs anywhere from $80.00 to $150.00. What a ripoff! Only the Federal Government would pay $80.00 or more for a knob that is worth less than $5.00. I guess Rheem wants to Ream their customers. I will never ever purchase any Rheem products again. I have seen the same knob on other brands of water heaters. I will try to get a knob from one of them.

We purchased a 50 gallon Kenmore water heater. Thinking that a 6 year warranty and a Kenmore was a good brand. However less than 18 months later, we had a flooded basement and learned of Sears "warranty" coverage. They will pay for the $19 part to repair the water heater if I pay the $200 trip and labor charges for a $350 water heater. I can purchase the part on my own for $30. I would rather go to a competitor and purchase a new one than spend an additional $200 for a 6 year warranty "defective" appliance.
