As a manager for a mechanical contractor it is very hard to look my customers in the face and tell them that the new heat pump we just installed doesn't work. This has happened 3 times in less than 90 days. One was short compressor mounting bolts from the factory and the refrigerant line broke during shipment. Carrier said it was a warranty issue. I say a factory defect! They wanted me to fix and not provide a replacement. Took a lot of my time 15 plus hours but they finally replaced. Today new unit had a bad transformer and would only heat. When switched to cool compressor would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off on high limit. Brand new unit needs a reversing valve.Again Carrier wants me to repair and not provide a replacement unit. Carrier corporate is useless in solving my issues as a contractor. I feel for the all the homeowners. Trane is 60 yards away from CARRIER GREAT LAKES, my local carrier distributor. I walked over to Trane and will be paying more for heat pumps and will have to pass on the cost to my customers, but at least they answer the phone without attitude and have handled all of our other problems with a smile. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR COMPLAINT IN BEFORE THEY COMPLETE THEIR MOVE TO MEXICO.

We purchased a very expensive, we thought top of line Carrier Infinity system, heat pump, and have had nothing but problems. Just tonight, on the coldest DC night in 20 years, the thermostat shut off. This is the third time in 3 weeks this has occurred. To be fair, Carrier customer service has been prompt in follow up and assessing issues, but problems like these really shouldn't happen with frequency like we've experienced. Given other problems with the unit, I'm frustrated, agitated, and now COLD! Help us out, please!

I have Trane XV95 furnace installed 5 years ago. It start to fall apart now. Control board is replaced recently, the new control board uses 120 V for ignitor. I use Comfy service guy to install it. He just put the new control board and didn't tell me my old 80 V ignitor need to be changed to use the new 120 V ignitor. So in the three weeks, it burned out two ignitor until I found out this fact.I has really bad experience with Trane product and Comfy service. If you don't have knowledge about furnace, it is really easy to be ripped off from service guy. Imagine my furnace ignitors get burned and burned continuously just because service guy don't tell you the new control board need 120V ignitor instead of 80V ignitor, and you keep buying a 80V ignitor.

My old furnace needed replacing and I struggle with the decision to spend a little more for a modulating furnace. I finally choose a DM97MC furnace with a Daikin One thermostat. I am very impressed how quiet the system is. I can’t even hear then it runs. And, now my house is more balanced even with no swings in temperature. Very impressive.

In the past year, had three heat pumps installed. In the process was emailing Trane (American Standard) to see about an extended labor warranty. No response at all! Go to their website, try to call, it keeps reverting to emails communication only. One of the units just installed 2 weeks ago sounds like it is coming apart. Had to google their phone #. Talked to customer service. They do not cover labor even within 30 days. So with that being said I will not be purchasing Trane (American Standard) units again. I think that their response to the matter is poor.

Our 9-year-old Carrier furnace was blowing cold air. The repair guy for Carrier said we need a NEW FURNACE! If he only replaces the part, there is no guarantee it will work (up to $2,000 for repair). It s December (here in New York) and we have waited SEVEN DAYS and no part in sight! We will NEVER buy another Carrier!

5 compressors in five years - On June 29th, 2007, we installed a Carrier Infinity 3-ton 15.5 Seer heat pump model 25HNA636A003, the high efficiency unit, thinking that we would recoup our upgrade expenses in energy savings. Wrong! In 2009, the air compressor went out. We had installed under our five star warranty. Now, 7-30-12, we just had another compressor installed under the ten year warranty. The man who installed the latest compressor said this is a "bad compressor by the name of Bristol". He wanted to sell me a new compressor for $2,500. Carrier knows this is a bad compressor and should replace it with one that won't keep burning out. I still have five years left on the five star warranty.

Goodman refused to honor their extended warranty on my furnace on a known defect, stating that the Service Provider must be approved by the Goodman Extended Service Department; and not every "authorized" Goodman Dealer carries this authorization status. Like other reviews regarding Goodman on this website, the Consumer must make informed decisions not just based on the words in the Goodman contracts, but based on other Consumers' experience as well. The devil is in the details when dealing with Goodman. Not a great way to build Consumer trust, but this is Goodman's prerogative to govern their business as they choose and to the sole benefit of Goodman; not the Consumer. BUYER BE VERY AWARE.

Trane XV90 Furnace is a Bummer. This furnace was installed 7 years ago. I am now faced with replacing a cracked heat exchanger for $1200 (labor only; warranty covers part) and an end bell/fan motor for about $1500. No way should this be happening on a 7 year old unit. Might as well install a new furnace (different brand) for another $2000 and get a 10 year parts and labor warranty!

Had a new Trane heat pump system installed in May of 2013. The system worked well until winter came. My first bill in Dec was $294. My second bill was $387, third bill was $528. I first thought the company that installed the system had underrated the size system I needed, so I called them. They came right out, & discovered the filter drier had not been installed properly & I was told it was a factory defect. I called Trane & attempted to get them to pay me for my loss due to their factor to stalled defective filter drier. After being in contact with 3 different customer care personnel & sending them previous years' bills, I was told they don't pay customers heat bills. After several communications back & forth. They told me they would send me a check for $200. I responded that I wasn't looking for welfare & evidently they needed money more than I did. After that, I sent 2 emails to the CEO of the heat pump division with absolutely no response. I have used Trane systems for 20+ yrs because of their quality, but evidently their responsibility ends with repair of the defect. They assume no responsibility for cost incurred by the consumer. The people who sold me the unit & repaired the unit were great. I can't say the same for the producers of the unit!
