New home built in 2007 new Trane furnace installed. Wrong from install, noted by the service technician during a routine maintenance check and trying to fix a water leak coming from side of furnace. Charged me $187.95 and still that night the water leak continued. The next day 3 other techs came and tried to diagnose the problem. A roll of duct tape and lots of PVC piping later, the leak finally stopped after making my new furnace look laughable. Now we have rust issues caused from the water leak causing parts and switches to degrade and corrode. Needing a $20 part replaced the same reputable Trane dealer would like to charge $278 plus tax for something their bad install job caused to go out. After explaining that I feel the part was damaged because of the water leak that developed from a bad install and should be replaced at no charge, they told me I should just buy the part and replace myself. I said I'm not going to do that and they told me they are wiping their hands clean of me and walking away from my situation. I tried to call Trane and they hung up on me. I tried sending email and they tell me they're free to charge whatever they'd like to charge me as they are independent dealer. They do not want to understand that these problems are because of either a bad product or simply the bad install the tech admitted to. I will never own another Trane product during my lifetime. Horrible customer service and worse product. You can see from my photos the install job they did to my Trane furnace and the rust that has developed. And yet still no one from Trane or the installer would like to take blame.

In Dec 2012 we moved into our new home, over the Christmas/New Year period the hot water system broke down, I rang Rheem and reported the problem, January 2013 it was repaired under warranty, the fault being a leaking gromit allowing water to enter the circuit board. 2nd repair was in April 2014, the system required a reset, which Rheem was contacted and sent a electrician to perform the reset which wasn't covered by warranty and costed $99. 3rd repair, same problem, required a reset, but before the electrician left the system faulted again. The system was then put in bypass mode till a diagnosis could be made, a period of about 1 month. Note: while in bypass mode the system uses more power due to only heating a small amount of water in a secondary system much like a kettle. This job was then handed over to a refrigeration mechanic who two weeks later had to remove the heating unit from the system and take to town for repair, another three weeks passed when I called to check on the system and was told they were waiting for parts. Another two more weeks passed and I called to check on the job, parts had arrived and were being fitted. And a couple more days the unit was back on the hot water system (this period was approx 2 1/2 months of the system in bypass mode, costing more to run, and not being efficient as the manufacturer claimed, the next power bill was huge). 4th breakdown, the system worked for a little while before it stopped again, and was out of service. It was back in bypass mode for another two-three weeks while parts were ordered, the unit was removed again from the hot water system and sent to town for repair. Two week later it was returned and refitted. In December 2014 I contacted Rheem and spoke to Peter **, their customer service manager, and voiced my concerns that the system was almost out of warranty and now it is noisier due to being pulled apart so many times, and the run time was excessive and I felt it wasn't cutting out when it should, it wasn't cost efficient as they claimed it would be, and if it was to fail one more time I would have to replace it with another unit of a different brand, as I couldn't afford to keep repairing it and paying the high power bills it caused, and that I had lost all faith in their product. Peter assured me the system working within spec and would continue to function. 5th breakdown, 2/6/15 the system failed again, I called Rheem at 0800 that morning and reported it.Around lunch time I had not received any return phone call, and as I was leaving the following day to travel interstate, I decided to call a plumber and get the system replaced with a standard type hot water system so my family wouldn't be without hot water in my absence. 16/6/15 I got a return phone call from Rheem saying they would replace the system with a new model heat pump system, but I informed them that the system had already been replaced, and it was now out of warranty. After more emails to Peter **, and providing him with invoices for both the new system and the original failing system, copies of power bills and a photo of the installed new system, he has decided to refund me the cost of the new system $1375, plus $300 towards excess power. And not refund me the cost of the failed system $3080, as I had an opportunity to accept his offer of a new system back on the 16/6/15, two weeks after the system had failed and been removed and replaced. My argument is that he had the opportunity to replace the system in December 2014 when I voiced my concerns to him via phone call and not two weeks after the failed system was removed.

Goodman refused to honor their extended warranty on my furnace on a known defect, stating that the Service Provider must be approved by the Goodman Extended Service Department; and not every "authorized" Goodman Dealer carries this authorization status. Like other reviews regarding Goodman on this website, the Consumer must make informed decisions not just based on the words in the Goodman contracts, but based on other Consumers' experience as well. The devil is in the details when dealing with Goodman. Not a great way to build Consumer trust, but this is Goodman's prerogative to govern their business as they choose and to the sole benefit of Goodman; not the Consumer. BUYER BE VERY AWARE.

AC unit installed October 2008. Was serviced couple years ago, went down last year so needed to pay for more freon (sp) and labor cost, approximately $160. Now this year the heat pump went out and is now costing me another $1000 to fix. Service, change filters and maintain all you want, these machines will still fall apart!!

I had a new heat pump installed yesterday. While the technician was here, we attempted to register the new equipment using the website address in the Carrier literature. A message came up and said it's not a valid website (cac.bdp.com). So I called Carrier, their phone message said to go to Carrier.com/homecomfort to register the product, which I did. While the tech was here, I attempted to register the equipment but the website kept asking for the installer no matter what I entered. The technician recommended that I call Carrier back (he had to go to his next job). I called Carrier and was told they no longer accept product registrations over the phone. So when I told the woman I could log in to their website to register the product while she was on the phone, she said she wasn't allowed to hold for customers. She seemed pretty rude. The problem here is that the Carrier website won't allow me to register my product (tried three different browsers) and their customer service will not help me register. This comes across as a warranty scam. Make it difficult so that customers don't register the product then deny warranty claims.

I agree that the installation is the main point when it comes to gas furnaces. I am nothing but satisfied by this brand of Coleman. My previous gas furnace kept on leaking and made my house messy, and I had had to clean often. I always called the technician to do repairs who later on recommended to me the Coleman unit. It’s highly efficient without too much cost of the gas bill. It was also affordable, and the installation was easy.

The worst product ever used. Something on the furnace broke and it shredded items in house, endangering human life. The absolute worst furnace ever used. The furnace shredded and burnt stuff in the house. Poor quality product. It happened about 3 years of using it, and then something on the furnace broke, leaking water everywhere. This is a Carrier furnace that uses a boiler. After fixing the water leakage. It started to shred items in the house, causing excruciating pains and sufferings. Please everyone with similar problems with Carrier furnace, should start a class action lawsuit.

Year 5 and we have had nothing but problems with the unit that was installed Aug 31, 2009. The inside coils had to be replaced after 1year. The Fan Motor control ECM had to be replaced in 2013 - out labor cost of $200. The compressor fan motor had to replaced in Nov 2014 - out Labor cost of $250. They replaced it and 10 minutes later the unit shut down again. Now they are saying that the TXV on the heat pump is causing to short cycle on heat - will again be out Labor of $625. This is a nightmare and all the RHEEM service center says is they are not responsible for labor. WHAT ABOUT putting POOR QUALITY PRODUCT in consumer homes. WARNING to others - RHEEM does not take accountability for bad products.

Our unit is now 12 years old, the amount of repairs we have done to the unit, we could have replaced it with a quality Trane system three time over. A year into the system, our air handler developed a small leak losing Freon, under warranty, but labor with Custom Air of Florida cost over $700. Variable speed motor was replace three times costing us over $3000. Replaced capacitors every year at $200 a pop. Twice we had to have a leak fixed in the compressor coil, $1000 each time. Carrier is crap. Called them, told too bad in less words. We have a new Trane system going in this Tuesday with a heat pump, all labor and materials covered under warranty for 6K. Screw Carrier, go to Mexico, don't buy their junk.

New heat pump unit installed January 2013 Rudd Model RHSL- HM4221 JA and 13PJL42A01. Have had high electric bills 60 days after installation. Installing company has been out numerous fixing and replacing Freon and soldering parts. Still high electric bills. I wanted a Trane but company owner talked me into this unit. He keeps telling us mfg will not replace unit. We want our money back to purchase a unit from a different mfg.
