Product Reviews:

I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer and Dryer in the spring of 2010
I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer and Dryer in the spring of 2010. Washer bearings just broke. I was told that the bearings in these machines are not strong enough to support the spin cycles. It is very disappointing to think that a company like Whirlpool would have their customers pay $1000 for a machine they know is not going to last. I agree with Julie. Maybe a class action lawsuit needs to be filed. Is there a lemon law for washing machines?

We purchased this combo from Lowes; checked my account and saw we were double charged! Got the charge adjusted; jeez. Bought this size to do comforters and large loads, but nothing large gets completely wet. Our clothes started to mildew as Affresh does not work. Im allergic to mildew and got headaches. The mechanic said this mildew is because all the action is under the basin and you dont want to see how black it is under there. It began to leak as buildup went into the bleach dispenser, and it turned black. He said to run a gallon of white vinegar in the clean cycle once a month, and this did work. I did a clean out with Castile peppermint soap, several white vinegar treatments, and got rid of the mildew and the (clog related) leak. I now use Mollys Suds powder. I was shocked to read on the Mollys site that mfg does not have to list all the terrible ingredients in commercial detergent, which is not helping you or the machine.

Ive read the reviews on this appliance. First of all the all of the washing machine being manufactured are designed to save energy and water. The water is loaded in the machine based on the WEIGHT of the clothes. the washing machines no longer have the features to (small, medium, large load) so the consumer can fill the machine. Having said that, most sales representatives will tell you appliances manufactured today are no longer designed to last 15-20 years, although they are way more expensive than the workhorses made in the past.I got rid of my fancy Samsung washing machine because it broke down at least 4 times within the first year of purchase and decided to go with the whirlpool because Ive had a workhorse in the past that was worked excellent. I love the fact the washers no longer have the agitator in the middle which allow me to wash my king sized bedding without the machine becoming unbalanced or making a lot of noise. So far the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer is working very well. Id rather give the Whirlpool a chance any day over the new johnny come latelys, which are more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes but are failing miserably in performance. I also love my Cabrio 8.8 dryer. They both work better than the Samsung models I got rid of.

I purchased a whirlpool gold series microwave model #WMH76718AS one and a half years ago, paid $500.00 for it. It stopped heating. Everything else works on it so it looks like I paid $500.00 for a digital clock and a fancy bread box! I went online and read complaint after complaint that the same thing happened to other people. It appears that the magnetron is faulty. I called Whirlpool and asked their service rep how she would feel if she bought a microwave and after 1 1/2 years it wasnt working. She told me that it was man made and that I should EXPECT things to go wrong. She did offer to pay for parts... which did surprise me. But I have to pay for a $45.00 service call and all labor that it costs to fix it. I called the number she gave me and got a answering machine.... still waiting for them to call me back. I most likely will just throw this Whirlpool piece of junk in the garbage where it belongs. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to repair a lemon. I feel that Whirlpool knows there is a problem with their product... that is why they offer to pay for parts. But why should their mistake cost their customers money on top of all the inconvenience. Whirlpool does not back their products or care about their customers after they get your money. I will Never buy a whirlpool product again and that includes anything from their sister companies Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Amana and there are many more. So before you buy anything make sure you check to see who you are really buying it from!

Bought a nice house in 2012 which has a Quiet Partner 3 Dishwasher. About twice a week it has to be reset pressing buttons because it blinks at you when you press start. Control board was replaced a couple times since we bought house. We just put up with it. The tub has a manufacturers defect in bottom where the plastic is so thin it finally cracked and over time water trickling out went to wall. Then ruined an area in finished basement ceiling. Ive used a couple different things to stop the leak but it always starts leaking. Customer service says its not under warranty so will buy a new dishwasher. But not Whirlpool or Maytag. Same company now. Dishwasher is a total piece of crap.

We have had the same problem with the magnetron in our Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination. Replaced this part in Dec. 2012 after warranty expired. Cost of repair was nearly cost of microwave. Magnetron went out a second time this week. When I called Whirlpool customer service, the management rep was very hard line about the warranty on the unit and parts. Very clear this company has a product reliability issue and does not want to keep its customers. I dont plan to purchase another Whirlpool product ever. What a frustrating disappointment!

We purchased our appliances including a refrigerator, stove, microwave and a dishwasher from Home Depot and chose Whirlpool because we believed in their quality. We purchased an ice maker for the refrigerator and it did not get delivered so we had to contact the store to get this resolved. Once this was resolved we installed the ice maker and began to use the products. We noticed a leak from the dish washer and checked the connections only to find out the leak was coming from inside the door. We contacted whirlpool to let them know. We were then contacted by whirlpool that they could not find a service center in our area and we needed to find one and they would reimburse us 150.00 for the service center that we find to come look at it and then we need to let whirlpool know what parts were needed and they would send them to us then we could have the service center come back and install the parts. After receiving this information I contacted whirlpool to let them know that this was unacceptable. First of all this is time and money out of my pocket and no service center is going to make two separate service calls for 150.00 dollars. So whirlpool tells me they have done all they can do in which I informed them that they have not done all they can do and they we just dumping this on me to take care of. So after arguing my point, the whirlpool employee decided to call a service center and make an appointment for Jan 09, 2020 which I agreed with and hopefully the problem will be solved. This should have been done from the very beginning instead of wasting my time only to have the whirlpool employees do their job. A customer should not have to deal with this. In the future I will using a different company for my products, not because of the product but because of the service. I have made a copy of this and will be posting my review.

I bought the front load washer 4 years ago. The tub bearing suddenly broke. We have 2 people in the house so the washer is not used more than 4 times a week. I was told it would cost $700.00 to repair. The washer was bought with a stackable dryer. Now Im told they no longer make a washer to go with the dryer. I called Whirlpool/Maytag and they could care less. The explanation I was given is that it is a man-made appliance. That is the worst customer service I have ever gotten. I would never recommend Maytag/Whirlpool. In fact I will highly discourage against it.

I just bought a Whirlpool 50-gallon water heater from Lowes because my old one took a turn for the worse. I brought it home, installed it just as the directions said, and immediately got an FVS fault detected code as soon as I plugged it in and tried to ignite it. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an appliance. And wouldnt you know it whirlpool service center is closed on weekends. What an absolute piece of trash. Im draining it and taking it back ASAP. Lowes and Whirlpool just lost my business for good.

I ordered a washer dryer combination through Whirlpool. I was given a delivery date 2 weeks out. Whirlpool employees must be doing their laundry very sparingly if they think that this would not put a strain on a household. But I was willing to wait. I asked the date and they wouldnt give it to me. A week later they called with the date and I asked the time. Again they wouldnt give it to me. However they said they would give me the time the night before. They then called with the time, which was during work hours. I told them I would be unable to do this during work hours and they gave me the only other optional date, also during work hours. I finally agreed and took a 1/2 personal day. When I arrived home. I received a phone call from Whirlpool that they will not be delivering my washer/dryer unit at all and to pick a different date. I canceled altogether.UPDATED ON 02/24/2016: I have worked hard to not get upset at companies. However I feel that this is an especially poor company and I cant remain silent anymore. I bought a Duet Washer and dryer over the phone with Whirlpool. It took 3.5 weeks for it to get delivered because Whirlpool kept cancelling. Each time, I took a 1/2 personal day so that I could meet the delivery people within their 4-hour window frame. On the 3rd attempt, they were finally delivered and set up by the delivery men.During the 2nd time I ever used the product, it stopped working, making a horrible grinding noise. I had to unplug the machine. My husband came home and hes pretty handy. However he was unable to even press 1 button. I had a friend in the repair business come the next day and he was unable to repair it. I called Whirlpool again and they said theyd have a repairman out the next day. They outsourced the job to a local company and Whirlpool sent me a confirmation email with a time and date. Again I took a 1/2 personal day. After hearing from no one, I called the repair company. They said they had no record of me in the system. I cried.I called Whirlpool and was put on hold for 3 hours. I hung up and called again. They said my department closed 8 minutes ago and they couldnt take my call. I asked how that could happen considering you began the call 3 hours before that time and would have stayed on hold until I died had I not decided to hang up and try again. Every time previous to this I had been on hold for a minimum of 1 hour.I have been trying to return the product. They tell me that Im unable to because my product is functional. I told them it was in fact not functional, which was about the 3rd time I said this, and they said Ill have to call back 1st thing in the morning. I told them I cant risk any more work time to deal with this poor company. So they put me on hold again and thats where I remain. I am currently going on 27 minutes.

I bought a Whirlpool top load washer. In less than a month it had to be serviced by their recommended service repair. It has never worked properly. It malfunctions almost everytime it is used and takes at least an hour to wash even a small load. At first I thought I may have acquired an odd lemon. After talking with several friends who had bought the same Whirlpool model I found we all had the same complaints. My old machine could wash a king size comforter in 36 minutes... that was energy efficient.

We bought a Whirlpool gas range about a year and half ago. The oven started giving lighting problems we had to light with a match every once in a while. Then the broiler igniter started giving same problems so I replaced the igniter, still did not work. Then I tried the control panel, still nothing. The igniters were about 45.00 each. The control panel was 250.00. Then I replaced the spark module and it is now working. Some models the spark module dont control oven and broiler but mine does. That was 200.00. The best thing was the part place I was ordering from would exchange the parts that you try and they also can answer questions either online or by phone, Appliancepartspros.com. My oven model # is wfg371lvs3.

Sad that I have to file this review! After reading multiple other reviews on all brands available to American citizens, I have come to the realization that cheap labor and materials are creating massive appliance garbage in our country as well as financial rip off for us all. It needs to STOP! What has happened to doing things right!! What company is going to be the first to produce good refrigerators! Paid over $2000 for my side by side and it is only 5 years old and has a freon leak that cant be fixed. Repairman said will have to buy a new refrigerator. Pathetic!! Cheap manufacturing in foreign countries is killing our economy and our household finances. Be prepared to buy NOTHING that works! Yeah, thats what I work hard for and look forward to. Americans better wake up.

We have owned the Whirlpool Quiet Partner II for about 2.5 years. We purchased this from our local Lowes store (on sale). For the first few months, everything was fine. Then, the dishwasher stopped completing a full cycle and left the dishes somewhat dirty. I found online that I could reset the controls by pressing heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal quickly. When the cycle starts, I press cancel and then set the cycle I want and it will do it correctly. I do this every time I wash the dishes since I dont know when it will decide to stop working (wasting water and soap to redo). Now, the dishes are not drying and water collects on the ceiling of the tub. I saw this after a smell was coming from the tub (like mold) and when I looked up at the top of the tub, I saw water droplets hanging there and mold forming around the sprayer and back of tub. I have to wipe the ceiling dry now or just run vinegar through it often. I cant see paying someone to come out since service calls start around $70 just to come to my home. I did look at reviews for the dishwasher before buying but I wished that I had seen this site first. I would not ever recommend this dishwasher to anyone!

I purchased Whirlpool dishwasher, model DU930PWSTO, in 9/2007. It quit working in 5/2012. I expected an appliance made by a reputable manufacturer (Whirlpool) to last longer than five years. It seems like a manufacturing racket where they build these things only to be replaced a short time later. With service calls and parts replacement, its cheaper to buy a new unit. Talk about a circle jerk! And who the heck puts anything else but SS screws in a water soaked appliance? Duh. Rust! Im disgusted and dissatisfied with the whole company. Im still waiting on their response to my complaint email; at the time, the machine quit working. Whatever happened to pride in American made products? Or, did this get company bail and were now slaves to the Chinese junk once again? Ill never buy another Whirlpool appliance again. Does anyone have anything good to say about this company? I wish I would have read this blog before purchase.

I purchased this Deep Cabrio Washer and Dryer a year ago. We moved into our new house and put in the new washer and dryer. During the first load in the washer, the spin cycle blew the ring right off of the hose and flooded our new laundry room and bedroom in the basement. My husband had to put a clamp on it to secure it. The washer does not wash the clothes, in fact you have to always wash it under Deep Water and wash it twice using twice as much detergent as you normally would. This washer is horrendous. My best friend bought the same one at the same time and she hates it just as much as I do as it does not clean clothes. Whoever designed this washer should be fired from Whirlpool. If you are considering a Cabrio washing machine, save yourself the aggravation and buy something else. I purchased a Cabrio model WTW5640X from Lowes 2 years ago. It has been one disappointment after another. First, the clothes were coming out really wrinkled and not fully rinsed. I now routinely use the extra rinse cycle. I also started washing very small loads with hardly any soap (and yes, I use the HE detergent). That works for me, but its not practical for a household of more than 2.This machine is also not for anyone with kids or who expects to remove routine soils. It doesnt clean well. White socks start looking dingy after a few washes, and even the hot cycle with bleach doesnt get whites white. Now, the washer has started shutting off with the clothes still soaking wet. I can press the Drain & Spin cycle to get it finish the job, but that adds another 13 minutes to the 63 minutes it already takes for a regular cycle with the extra rinse. I so wish I had not replaced my 15 year old Kenmore.

Long story short I was out of a washer for 2 weeks talking back & forth with Whirlpool which was absolutely a nightmare. Kept me on hold forever and hung up on me several times so they didnt have to deal with the situation. Absolutely no customer service at all. When it came down to it they were going to issue me a new washing machine and I had to go to the store to get it and when I got to the store they told me I had a $415.00 credit to spend. Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer: nice job Whirlpool! You designed a washer that breaks if you accidentally wash a coin! For the second time in a few months, were fixing our washer because a coin was in a pocket. The coin gets sucked into the discharge pump and sounds like popcorn popping when it drains. It rattles around the inside of the machine’s pump until it breaks the plastic pump housing. You will know when this happens because there will be water on your floor. Did you ever consider a screen to prevent a coin from ruining the washer? God forbid someone leaves a coin in their pocket. Well, if you leave a coin in your pocket and wash your jeans, it will cost you a repair every time with this hunk of junk. This would be my last Whirlpool. It will actually be cheaper to throw this thing out and buy a new one, since it won’t be the last time a coin accidentally makes it into the washer.

So I approached the salesperson at Lowes and I was informed (after the fact) that the Cabrio top loaders had poor ratings due to the fact the basket only spun 30 times a minute whereas the front loaders spun 300 times a minute. Six techs have been out to my house and replaced the thermocouple twice and a complete gas control valve. The pilot still will not stay lit. Supervisor contacted Whirlpool on Thursday. If I could give no stars I would. I own the Whirlpool Cabrio, which I bought only 2 years ago. Im on my 3rd service call. They replaced my board after only 1 year of owning it and now 2years later its the same error message (F6E2), the board again. Besides this problem the machine is horrible! Every load has to be done on the deep water mode or else your clothes will come out with dry areas. Forget about darks - they come out with lint and soap residue all over them. So for darks you have to use extra rinse cycle but still the clothes come out with lint all over them. Laundry has turned into a nightmare for me. And the clothes arent clean. If I dont spray and scrub any stains, the clothes come out with the stain still on them. Dirty white socks come out dirty, even with bleachI dont use warm water on my clothes because it shrinks them and I dont put all of my clothes in the dryer because it shrinks them. So I am constantly using lint rolls, like crazy on all my darks. And even though the machine is very large I was told to never put a lot of laundry in it because nothing will get clean. So now I have to do more loads of wash. Doing laundry has turned into a job, a horrible job that takes hours. So now I have to use deep water, extra rinse and smaller loads so how is this energy efficient - its NOT, its the opposite of efficient. I am doing more wash and using more water. I use liquid HE detergent like they said. I clean my washer when it lights up to clean it. I dont know what else to do. I just called whirlpool about all of this and my second board being broke within 2 yrs and they dont stand by their products. I have to just keep getting it fixed through my extended warranty company. Thank goodness I bought an extended warranty.I would never ever buy anything whirlpool again! Dont buy this washer if its still available, it is the worst. Even if cabrio isnt available (which I dont see on their site) I still wouldnt buy whirlpool. They should replace my machine with a different one at this point. Not that I want another whirlpool but at least I would have a machine that works. This machine completely stopped working after the error code so I have no machine for 4 days now. I waiting for my extended warranty to get back to me and then I have to make an appointment for the appliance company to come and fix it. This is crazy. All these days and I cant do laundry. This is not acceptable!

We were told by a very experienced repair technician today that the gear case and bearings in the tub need to be replaced at a cost of $700.00. Needless to say, I am very upset. I called the Whirlpool Company and after being on hold for almost 15 minutes, I was told that my washer is too old to qualify for any help with repair cost or part replacement. My household consists of two adults. We do on average three loads a week. This is an inferior appliance and after this experience I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.

On 5/3/16 I purchased an Amana high-efficiency, low water, top loading washer. What a joke, it is a piece of junk. There is no water so clothes dont come clean, and if you leave money in the pockets no worries. As it will be right there after the clothes are washed and dried (got matching dyer also). They dont even smell clean after two washing. And now you are to purchase a cleaner to clean your washing machine. This is truly not an efficient machine in any way.

Whirlpool Cabrio - Our washing machine just started leaking water with oil underneath. This would be our third repair since purchasing this machine but it doesnt sound like a repair is possible or worth it. Its too bad we cant go back to the old models. They definitely lasted longer with no problems. Companies should make the older models bigger and forget about the front loaders and newer models without the agitators. Too much shaking in the machine causes too many repairs!

Terrible wash machine. Some clothes come out having never even gotten wet. The spin cycle ties your clothes in knots so bad you have to machine dry them because the wrinkles are ridiculous. I’m all for saving water but if your clothes don’t get wet, how are they going to get clean? Also can’t do just a rinse and spin cycle. I would rate zero stars if I could. Don’t waste your money on this junk! Wish I could buy an old fashioned Maytag. Those washers were the best!

Our microwave is less than 8 months old, hardly used and only for heating items. Besides the point, being under a year old. It began to make noise and pop, spark sounds with the smell of burning wires and promptly stopped working. We called the customer service line and began the long frustrating circle of completely bizarre conversation. Maintaining our belief this is a fire hazard and not wanting it in our home they insist on a repair person coming after trying to sell us Extended warranty, Why would we want Extended warranty when the warranty is NO warranty, it seems, whatsoever. After requesting to speak to a supervisor 3 times. A overly bubbly person comes on the repeat same spiel and to make an appointment for 1 week away from 8am to 4pm to be available for a phone call to make an appointment to see about repair on said fire hazard microwave that is less than a year old. This appointment is made with repair place and they too are confused and noted Whirlpool said this is not covered under warranty, and they too would contact them.Today Whirlpool Canada calls and gives number to repair place to book appointment, Hello we already have one and the frustrating verbal dance continues. 5 minutes after this call the repair place calls, as whirlpool contacted them as well to book appointment, which we both could agree this is the bizarrest situation since we already have an appointment, from their appointment. We keep saying we feel unsafe, this is a fire hazard. Which they completely ignore. This is unacceptable and extremely poor service.

As part of a new home purchase from Pulte, the combo oven/microwave can with the house. After one year of usage, the oven liner started the pile and crack. We have a two year Whirlpool warranty through Pulte our builder. When we called the dedicated line for Whirlpool-Pulte to report the issue, we were told that Whirlpool must send a technician to take pictures and see what is going on. The technician shows up and declares that the oven is damaged and repairable. But Whirlpool reject to replace the unit claiming that this is a cosmetic issue and it must have been reported to them within 30 days from buying the home, as this is their policy for cosmetic issues. We did some research on our own and we found out that Blue color liner ovens have a well known issue, but Whirlpool keeps putting these into their products. Our builder is not able to get them to replace the unit as well. I will not ever buy any of Whirlpool products. Be aware if you want to purchase any Whirlpool appliances, warranty to them means nothing, even when they know that they are shipping products that have faulty into consumers.

First of all, I want to thank all of you who took the time to write all your comments. You have helped educate me in many ways. For one thing, I had no idea that Whirlpool made such bad appliances, or at least water heaters. I pretty much grew up in a Whirlpool household. But that was a long time ago. Things change. Anyway, I too bought a Whirlpool from Lowes about four years ago. It was the top of the line 50 gallon energy saver, and it has had problems staying lit for the whole time I have owned it. Because I read your comments before contacting Whirlpool (this time), I knew exactly what to expect. And that is what I got at first--someone trying to sell me parts via shipping costs. I said no to that, and a rep called and offered to replace the unit, which is exactly what Whirlpool should have done for all of you. I am writing this out of courtesy for Whirlpool. They did the right thing for me, and I truly do appreciate that. On the other hand, Lowes wants $700 to deliver and install the new unit. I live seven miles from the store. They set my other water, the Whirlpool I purchased from them, up in my garage. It is extremely easy to get to, and it is all up to code. In other words, even though they sold me a defective product and profited from both the sale and the delivery, they now want to do it all over again by charging so much for the set up. They did not even offer to prorate the new install. Of course, I will hire and pay a certified plumber to do the job, but I am very sorry to lose Lowes. I have always enjoyed shopping there. Home Depot is just across the street, and even though I have learned not to purchase a water heater, or any major appliance there either, I will go there from now on. Losing my business might not worry Lowes a whole lot, but two years ago I bought $5,000 worth of fencing from them, and God knows how much over the years. If you and I and all the thousands of other unhappy customers would stop going there, they might feel a bit sorry for doing us all so dirty. Agreed? Thanks again, you guys.

My new fridge is leaking large amounts of water on the floor, but it is not from the ice maker, as it is not hooked up. I have a Whirlpool refrigerator, model number GB2FHDXWS04, purchased in August of 2010. It was with good faith that I chose what I thought was a high-quality product, as well as, it was chosen because it was made in the USA and would be supporting US families, not China.Within one year, just as soon as the one-year warranty expired it began leaking water daily, all over my wooden kitchen floor, causing the floor boards to begin buckling. It is not from the ice maker, as it is not hooked up. Not only is my floor being ruined, but my one-year old refrigerator is not working up to standards, for which I chose the Whirlpool brand. My refrigerator has been maintained and operated by all instructions provided for this product.I assume that this company no longer wants to be in good standing with its customers, and refuses to make good on a major problem, for which a large amount of money was spent on a high quality serviceable item, by paying for the repair or replacement of obviously defective parts, or by the replacement of the entire refrigerator.

Whirlpool refrigerator model GX5F-IDXVB07; S/N K23918029; 24.8 cu ft purchased for almost $2,000 on 1/7/2014. Before it was four months old I had spoken with store about it frosting up the freezer drawer several times. Finally found it wasnt level and drawer was hanging. Ok figured it was ok, even though I had other issues with it. I took the cosmetic issue of false height on door, which made it seem larger and drastically size reduced produce drawers which made it necessary it actually cut off celery two inches to fit in drawer and door nooks being so narrow that they only fit 3 small condiments in them on the left door and its a trick to fit thing in the right, but since they are deeper can fit a little more. Ok thats my fault for not actually measuring. But who takes condiment jars shopping? The killer is that a leak in the ice maker, lets water/ice to build up under the ice maker on floor of freezer drawer. It then freezes there and if we dont take out the drawer and remove the ice chunks by hand it thaws and runs out in the floor about once a week. The leak began to be worse in August 2014. I understand it will need repair. What makes me really upset is the refrigerator is supposedly a very good brand and I have had so many issues with it that I curse it regularly. A two thousand dollar fridge with this many issues and I am stuck with it. I guess I should have contacted company before warranty went out, but we would get it past a problem for a while, then it would come back. I am just sick that I ever bought it in the first place! I hate it and will never buy or advise anyone else to buy from Whirlpool again. Quality is awful. Looks good on surface, stinks for quality.

Have owned my Whirlpool washer model# LSR 701 0PQ1 two years and had no problems with it before today... The washer was used once a week since I purchased it and only myself use it. There is only myself and my son and our loads are always small. Well today I put a load in and went to finish my other housework and when I went to check on the load, there was a weird smell in my laundry room. As I approach the washer to put softener in the rinse I saw a flash behind on the left hand side of the control panel where the size of load and water temperature selection is. I unplugged the washer and put the fire out. Have never had anything happen like this before with this brand. I already know I have to buy another washer but am scared to get another Whirlpool.

WFW97HEDW, WGD95HEDW American made and equivalent to LG and Kenmore. Size fitted our space available. Price was a bit higher than the Korean models with similar or better features. We bought and returned three consecutive Whirlpool models from Sears. Though we never really got to put the dryers to the test, nor did they fail, the washers were of such a poor quality that they broke down within 1-2 weeks of installation. Eventually we switched to LG and have had no problems. When the Whirlpool fails it locks your clothes inside and to open and retrieve your clothes is just short of impossible. We really, really really wanted to buy the American made brand and we were willing to pay the premium to do so, but these washers were awful.

I went from an HE front loader to an HE top loader (Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7000DW0) due to the risk of mildew with the front loader. Im not the only one doing laundry and if someone else does it, it always seems that they shut the door when empty, contributing to moisture and mold that needed to be cleaned out of the gaskets. I am so unhappy with my top loader HE washer. When I stop the machine and look, I always see my laundry half covered with dingy water, sometimes part of it still dry at the top and it is disgusting. I frequently have to rewash loads due to detergent getting trapped in folds or pockets created that hold on to dirt and lint, even being careful with the detergent amount. I run the washer now every time with settings of deep water, extra rinse, heavy load and presoak with instructions, with settings taped to the top for others. At almost 1 1/2 hours each load, we just cant keep up. The laundry still forms pockets and sheets form a giant tent over the entire load that has to be unraveled at the end of the cycle and wound so tight it had no chance of rinsing. I had to get a repair person out because it got out of balance and he had a small hand-held computer to enter a code to rebalance it. When we discussed the issues I was having, he was ready for everything I was doing wrong. He told me I can not wash blankets or large items (I thought I was buying large capacity with such an enormous drum). He told me they have caught people adding water with a bucket during cycles and that the washer software can tell them if people are trying to work around the system which voids the warranty.Apparently, this is a common complaint he blames on the government wanting high efficiency so they make the numbers look good, sacrificing the ability of the washer to perform at what a consumer expects. I have never seen the water in my drum higher than a couple inches and the drum is HUGE, but never used to capacity. He told me his wife demanded they get a commercial washer because she was so angry about how poorly it cleaned. I feel so scammed and I wish I could have my old agitator back. $100 for the repair call, $150 for the code to be put in and Im on warning that they will see if I try to add water, run out of balance or dont comply with any reason they can void the warranty by just checking the data the washer is collecting on us.

In less than a year the noise started, then the freezer became a refrigerator and my frozen stuff melted. I had a local technician come in and he fixed it but he indicated that the fix would not likely correct the problem. Sure enough, about 6 months later the same problem started all over again. Nowadays one is never sure where a product is manufactured. After the first year, a residue began to build up behind the glass on the front of the oven door. Finally, about 18 months ago, I decided to try to unscrew the back of the door in order to clean this since it got increasingly worse year by year. When I unscrewed the door, the side metal bars broke off and the range is to say the least, looked very unappealing . When the oven self cleans it makes the outside of the oven brown and very unappealing. This is a Whirlpool Gold, Super Capacity 465 range. We have been dissatisfied from the beginning. Purchased a new Whirlpool Energy Smart 50 gallon water heater from Lowes to replace our existing old one that had gone bad. Never again!! Had it professionally installed by one of Lowes installers. I have no problem with the installer.... the water heater was a piece of junk. From the first day we had sporadic hot water and to get that you had to have a hot water tap turned on full force. If you turned the tap to a lesser flow you got cold water. Couldnt get a hot shower at all. Contacted Whirlpool customer service 4 times by phone and 3 times by email. Horrible !!!! If I had read all the reviews ahead of time I would never have purchased a Whirlpool water heater. Each time contacting their customer service I was informed I had a plumbing problem... probably a cold water line was feeding into my hot water line??? Really??? After living in this house for 20 years all of a sudden I have a cold water line magically connect itself into my main hot water feed? I even set the temperature up as much as it would go. Could easily hold my hand under the hot water without getting burned. Most of their phone reps sounded like they were reading from a check list sheet and no desire to actually listen to what I was telling them. One even sent me a PDF file via email that had nothing to do with the problem I was describing to them. I finally told them after two weeks of this that I couldnt live with this situation and they said Well our technicians are 38 miles from you and we wont send one that far to check it. Asking what I could do they said Id have to hire someone (they werent able to tell me if I should hire a plumber or electrician) and Id have to pay for it and they would reimburse me. Sensing that this might be a fruitless task I resorted to calling the Lowes store where I purchased it and asked their advice. They offered to send out the original installer to check it out and work with Whirlpool over the phone. Like I said, I have no complaints with the installer, he was fast and professional. I stood there while their technician/customer service had him go through a few tests on the unit. All of that proved nothing except in their minds that nothing was wrong with their unit. He got off the phone and told me They refuse to accept any responsibility for the product being bad. I asked him what was I supposed to do. He got on the phone with the manager of the Lowes store and they agreed to swap it out at no charge to me. I of course was very happy but told them after all of this I didnt want another Energy Smart type water heater and that I didnt trust the electronics at all. He agreed to swap it out for a regular type and give me a credit for any difference in cost. Had this all done in one day and am very pleased with Lowes commitment to customer service. The new heater (still a Whirlpool sad to say) appears to be working fine just like my old one did. So much for it being a problem with my plumbing. After reading all the complaints about Whirlpool water heaters, I guess Im not looking forward to much of a life expectancy with this one and Im certainly not even going to attempt to call Whirlpool customer service if I do. This whole thing cost me $700 and as far as Im concerned Ill flush $700 down the toilet before buying another Whirlpool product. I still would love to know how any person with half a brain could tell me I had a plumbing problem when all that was done was removal of an old water heater and replaced with a new one. Thats two pipes people...cold water in, hot water out. I see that there was some type of class action lawsuit filed against Whirlpool. Maybe they need another one filed or forbidden to sell water heaters ever again.

Reading the many reviews of malfunctioning washers and other appliances, I wonder why organizations like Consumer Affairs and Consumer Reports do NOT help the many cheated customers form a class action lawsuit or boycott or some other means to effectively organize and force manufacturers to return the full cost of purchase, taxes, shipping, moving and repairs for 5 years for every product. The manufacturer have NO consequences for selling shoddy, malfunctioning but terribly expensive products. We are all being taken for fools by the corporations.I was stupidly brand loyal and bought a Whirlpool Duet front-load washer and dryer because we had to leave our perfectly good 28-yr-old Whirlpool washer when we sold our house. The first set of instruction is to pull the electric cord from a small hole in the back of the washer. No amount of pulling would budge the cord. Finally yanked with all my strength, heard a snapping sound and 12 of cord came out. Then no more pulling, yanking or tugging would produce another inch of cord. So I took off the top of the machine and found the cord tightly wedged in the fork of a plastic thing that looked like part of a stabilizer for the drum.A similar plastic thing on the other side was broken at the fork, the snapping sound I heard. Freed the cord with lots of effort, but it was still firmly stuck way down inside. Removed the back of the machine, found the cord stuck inside a circular thing with one tiny opening. Took lots of time and effort to free the cord from that, but it was still stuck. Finally managed to reach the plug, which was firmly anchored to the bottom of the frame with an orange lanyard. Cut the lanyard with a knife to finally free the cord. This had to be an act of sabotage by an assembly worker, as no way could the cord accidentally jam itself into 3 different places too small for the cord to slip in, and it certainly didnt tie itself to the bottom of the frame with a lanyard. The hour it took to free the cord was just the start of troubles with this machine. It did start and kind of tumbled clothes in an odd fashion, but when it went into spin cycle, it literally jumped all around the room, almost jumping out the door. The whole house shook and I feared the floor would collapse. That machine must weigh well over 100 lbs. even without water and clothes. Next load I tried delicate cycle which had a slow spin cycle.Same result, even worse. I had to wedge my body in the 10 space between washer and dryer and press down with all my 170 lbs. to keep the machine from doing serious damage to the dryer, walls and floor. I contacted seller, Lowes, and they said call Whirlpool. So I did, but no response. Before buying that machine, I read many horrible reviews of Whirlpool Duet machines, but I have only owned 2 washers since 1967, both Whirlpools, so I had strong but stupid brand loyalty.

Wish there was a no stars. This is the second refrigerator in 3 yrs or less. Had first one for less than 8 months before it stopped working. Needed to be replaced and now second one made it a little over a year and now just stopped working. Washers were also garbage and I’ve been slowly buying all new appliances with other brands. I’ll never buy a single Whirlpool product ever again.

I purchased Whirlpool Refrigerator model WRF989SDAM02 in June of 2014. I began having problems with the ice forming into a solid block shortly after having the refrigerator installed. I called for service several times over the next year trying to rectify the problem. Once the warranty had expired I continued upon the advice of Whirlpool Customer Service to schedule their certified Technicians to work on the problem. A year and a half and several hundred dollars later I am still unable to get ice cubes when desired.Ultimately I was advised that I would need to use the ice maker once a day to keep it from forming into a block. When this didnt solve the problem I again contacted Whirlpool, had another of their recommended service technician come and give his advice. I was told that the ice maker needs to be in constant use or it forms a block and this is a defect in the design of this unit. A Pro Tech Appliance Inc. Technician, an authorized Whirlpool technical representative, said the only way to have usage of ice would be if I made sure to dispense ice a minimum of 8-10 times a day. This is completely impractical and just plain ridiculous. I contacted Whirlpool again. They refuse to acknowledge this is a defect in the design of this model. I have replaced all parts that can be replaced, had the unit resealed and have paid for multiple service call. Whirlpool will provide no remedy for this problem. Now that the unit is out of warranty they have refused to provide a resolution even though its issue began while still covered under the year warranty. The ice in the ice maker is completely unusable and melts into a solid block within 24 hours if not in continual use.

I purchased a Cabrio Top Load Washer and Front Load Dryer four and a 1/2 years ago and have had nothing but trouble with them! The dryer needs to be run 2 cycles to get the clothes dry. In that time I have had a repairman come to the house 3 different times to look at the dryer, which cost me over $200. They have had to replace the belt and inner pulley and then the sensor harness. Recently when they came they tried replacing the coils. It continues to give me trouble drying the clothes and I am very dissatisfied with it. A few weeks ago the washer broke. I have had repairmen come to the house 4 different times. Multiple times there has been a problem with the spin and drain cycle. All of the water would not empty out. I would have to run the cycle again. They eventually replaced the actuator. I continued to have difficulties with the washer. Then the machine got very loud when it would spin out sounding like a rocket was going to take off! The repairman came once again said it was the motor. When they returned with the parts and took the machine apart, the parts inside the machine had all corroded! The water had been leaking inside the machine, destroying it, and a black sticky buildup had formed! The machine was deemed unrepairable! I paid over $700 for each machine and am very upset about this. When I spoke to customer service they would not stand by their product because I didnt have the warranty anymore. After numerous phone calls I filed a complaint and gave a bad review of the support service and product that I received.Weeks later they called me and offered to have me purchase another machine at half price! I had already bought another brand washing machine and I asked them to apply the amount toward what I had spent on the new one. They would not and insisted the only thing they could do would be to have me buy their washer at half price. I told them I lost faith in their product and didnt want another one. So, I would not recommend the Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer, or Whirlpool products since they will not stand by them! I have pictures to prove what happened to the washer!

We purchased a Whirlpool Overhead microwave and Quiet Dishwasher in May of 2017. Within the first year, the microwave needed new sensors installed. The repair person said this was a design flaw and he was getting many calls. Then at 13 months, the dishwasher wouldnt drain. The repair person fixed the problem and left reset directions because this can commonly happen. Now at 18 months later, the drainage problem wont resolve even with the reset. Whirlpool extended the warranty by 6 months but wont cover this repair. Two appliances, two problems. Dont buy Whirlpool.

Have had this washer for one year. Clothes have never been clean since day one. Dark clothes come out with white marks all over. Having to use an extra rinse cycle or set on bulky items - whats the point of a high efficiency appliance? Still not clean after that anyways. Stains such as chocolate and toothpaste still remain after washing and my husband complains of finding small holes in his clothes. Lid needs to be left open at all times or you get a funky smell. I am using the HE liquid detergent, even tried a cold water product for cold washes. I hate this washer. Wish I had my 20 year old Kenmore still.

This complaint is a follow-upon the last entry I submitted a week ago. I complained that my Whirlpool washing machine tears holes in clothes, and makes wrinkles that are almost impossible to iron out. Reading that several customers had similar complaints, I was encouraged to call Whirlpool. Whirlpool stated that they had no widespread complaints on this machine. Well, to make a long story short, Whirlpool came out and we paid the repairman $85 to look at our machine and tell us that nothing was wrong with the machine. So, I guess Im stuck with a worthless machine. BEWARE! Never buy a WHIRLPOOL!!!

whirlpool Cabrio Washer - I replaced my front loading Duet with this, thinking I was done with front loader. Designs are set to fail, liked the idea of no agitator, thinking can clean a lot clothes at once, boy was I wrong, heavy loads wont spin dry, forget sheets or blankets. The machine just stops, leaving everything soaked and you basically screwed, you can invoke a spin cycle but to help make rinse and spin out, sooo disappointed. Whats wrong with the designers of this product? They didnt try sheets to see if it would even work. I am far from over loading this too. Dont buy this.

Whirlpool repair visit scheduled again for 3/23/2018. This is the 2nd repair time since we purchased the washer on 2/28/2018. Purchased the same model 2 years ago, and experienced repeated problems to the point where we got rid of that machine and purchased the most current model referenced here. We are looking for a full refund of the purchase price as it appears that this recently purchased machine is on its way to be a repeat performance of the 1st machine that we got rid of (that was purchased 2 years ago). Again, we want the full purchase price refunded, which is $900.88. This machine is not even 2 months old. Thank you.

I have made 4 calls to the Co which warranties the washer because it is making squeaking noises on the spin cycle. I was refused service because the customer service rep didnt “hear” anything. In 2008, I purchased the 40-gal. Whirlpool electric water heater to replace the original unit in my home that had lasted 14 years without issue until it died of old age. After about 2 1/5 years, it died and I was given authorization to return it to Lowes at my insistence. Now after another 2 1/5 years, this one has died. So far, I have replaced both elements, lost a days work, missed out on a date because I could not take a shower and now Im told I have to replace the electrical box on top which wont get here until Monday. Its Saturday and I havent been able to take a shower in my home for 5 days now.The first CSR (Crystal) I spoke with implied that since I had 2 consecutive failures, this was a site problem, not a product problem. Theres nothing special about my site, and my old unit made it 14 years with zero repairs. I would argue that since both of the units only lasted 2 1/5 years, that the product is substandard. I asked to speak to a manager but was told no because they were all busy (no doubt) and her demeanor was unapologetic and unsympathetic. The second CSR (Nick) I spoke with was very nice and at least sympathetic. That goes a long way in customer service, but I was still not allowed to speak with a manager.I am going to try and repair it one more time, but I have zero confidence in Whirlpool and would never buy another Whirlpool product of any sort again. If I get it working, and after all Ive read here I doubt that I will, I will only be using it for the time it takes to get a replacement of another brand. This was my first experience with a Whirlpool product and you can be sure it will absolutely be my last.

Our Whirlpool refrigerator has been an extraordinary kitchen appliance, it may even be 28 years old. The ice maker worked until just four years ago and thats amazing. Its never been serviced and never needed a repair. I dont know what one can say about something thats worked so flawlessly. This seems a little bit trivial when considering the cost of a new appliance, but the plastic veneer on the handle had fallen off and needed glued back on, but thats about it as far as maintenance and repairs go. Overall its been an ideal purchase and I wish wholeheartedly all my purchases were as good as our whirlpool refrigerator.

I exchanged my fancy front loader Cabrio washing machine for a top loader after having numerous issues: clothes werent getting clean, extended water cycle, and a leak. The original purchase was made at Lowes, where I elected to invest in the 3 yr extended warranty plan. After several visits from their sub-contractor, they allowed me to exchange the washer for a top loader Whirlpool Cabrio. At first the washer seemed to work, but after about 8 months I started having problems. The bearings went out and when the service company replaced it they forgot to screw top of the machine together. During my first load, I heard this terrible noise and discovered that the entire top of the machine had separated from the bottom by 2 inches. I frantically rushed to turn the washer off before my laundry room flooded. So, they were out again and screwed the machine back together but failed to retrieve the original screw that they removed from the washer during the first round. Well, the screw got lodged in-between the drum and interior, causing it to completely break the machine. Lowes agreed to exchange the washer for another top loader Cabrio, but my 3 year service contract would not cover the new washer. Not to my surprise, I immediately had issues with it and had to hire a repairman to assess the problem, who concluded that it was the bearings. He informed me that it would be about $700 to replace the bearings and cheaper to just buy a new machine. I called Whirlpool and explained to them about all my issues, now becoming almost comical. They arranged for an outside contractor to assess it. After confirming that the bearing were bad they replaced them. Another few months go by before problems occur, this time the washing machine stopped draining water and spinning. The service company was out another 4 times. They replaced things like the mother board and control panel. My last appointment was today, where the service guy said, There is only one error code. It is a stuck button. I said, Will you at least witness a full cycle so I can show you all my problems: clothes still dirty and stinky, items still wet after spin cycle, cycle taking 2 to 3 hours to run, horrible noises, and timer adding minutes to original cycle. He called Whirlpool because he genuinely felt sorry for my situation. They were of no help. He didnt stay to witness a cycle. Moral of story: if the error code doesnt detect a problem, the consumer will not be helped (this is something that consumers do not have access to). They will happily call a technician out to put a bandaid on an issue until your warranty runs out. I have had between 7 to 10 service calls out to my house, requiring me to take either an entire or 1/2 day off of work each time. If I added up all time lost at work, I could have easily purchased a top-of-the-line washer/dryer duo and been done with all this Whirlpool foolishness. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this product.

I owned a Maytag washer for 30 wonderful years, so I of course bought a new one. I have battled with my Maytag (Whirlpool) front loading stackable top of the line washing machine for 2 1/2 years. It will not drain, yet sometimes it will. I have played every game with this machine to figure why. I had a repair company out 5 times while it was under warranty and they could never find the problem. It is totally unpredictable. If I could bill Whirlpool for my time and anguish I would own this company! They now say it is the computer board and I will have to pay $350 for a new service contract to fix the machine. I not very politely said that they should pay me for all my emotional abuse. They offered me another option saying they would pay for a service company to come out and look again. However, I would have to pay the labor and material cost. Since I have a stackable unit and it would take 2 technicians I would have to pay $90 for the second person. I was so mad that I called Whirlpool back and they refused to offer me that $350 charge and just said sorry. I are fortunate to have a lake house which needs a new washer. Guess what? It will NOT be a Whirlpool product. I wish I could go to the store where I purchased this holy terror and picket!

Model ED5PVEXWS14/Whirlpool Stainless Steel side-by-side refrigerator purchased from Lowes: My wife and I purchased this refrigerator from Lowes as a part of a kitchen renovation project. It was delivered by Lowes and worked great. The shelving cracked at the back as other owners experienced, but I blamed that on kids and was fine with ordering replacement parts online. Fast forward to the present and a year later, everything is working fine. Out of the blue it quit cooling or freezing on 6/12/13. I thought it was a capacitor problem, but since we purchased the refrigerator on 4/28/12, we decided to have a repairman come out and check. When he accessed it, he found that the compressor was bad. He stated every once in while you get a fridge with a bad compressor. He also said I just happened to have the particular refrigerator he sees frequently. I normally buy all Whirlpool products - microwaves, washer and dryer, dishwasher, my old refrigerator (still working at my relatives house), and my daughters college fridge. This is the first time I have experienced something of this nature with a Whirlpool product and hope I can work out a resolution with them or Lowes.

I purchased this washer (Whirlpool Cabrio HE) 2 years ago against the advise of many people including my husband due to the cost, $850 for what is now no more than a large paper weight! It had never really done a good job at cleaning our clothes. About 6 months ago, it started not spinning enough to remove all the water from the load. I thought, no big deal, I will just use the extra spin cycle. It became the normal thing - wash, spin, extra spin. Well, then it became wash, spin, extra spin, extra spin. I noticed 3 months ago that it was not even agitating. It fills up, sounds like it is agitating and then drains. There was no movement from inside at all. All along I am getting from my husband. told you not to buy it! I gave in and called the repairman - $185 for a console, $26 for a sensor and $55 for a couple of drum clips and then the $35/hour for the repairs. I would rather spend a couple hundred dollars and buy a washer with an agitator that really works. I would never recommend this washer to anyone!

I purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator, side by side in August 2013. The ice maker made ice but the size of the ice was much smaller than usual, however we lived with it. Soon it only made about a handful of ice a day, which defeats the purpose of an ice maker. So we called the store we bought it from and they sent a repairman. The problem was not solved until about the 4th visit from the repairman. I was told there was no problem with our ice maker from the first 3 repairmen. In the meantime the refrigerator side started pooling water in the bottom under the bin... Had to call again for that problem (they fixed). Now the door is showing rust under the handles. I have contacted Whirlpool and they have told me thats too bad, but they dont have to do anything because read the fine print, it is not their problem and thank you for being a Whirlpool customer. Whirlpool 27 cu.ft french door bottom mount WrF989SDAH White - We took delivery of this ice making fridge mid-September from Sears Canada. 3 weeks later we have ice at the ceiling/wall seam at the back inside the fridge. Water collects along the rubber seal of the freezer drawer which we have to mop up. We said we were not going to use the water/ice maker and its not even hooked up. Water comes down through the water dispenser onto the panel which we also mop up. Moisture in fridge. Temp settings are as factory specified. Whirlpool authorized tech guy gave us the inside info. Hes seen so many design problems with this model and what Whirlpool do is order the tech guys to say to customers we can order the parts and fix it. Whirlpool keep discovering and modifying the problems but you are not allowed a refund off the bat because the tech guys authorized & sent out by Whirlpool are not allowed to give a report to the retailer or say its design defective. So the customer has shelled out money and has to have band-aids left, right and center. Went to Sears to ask for a refund. They refused because tech guy wont give a report to them (but what do we really know eh? Because the tech guy stood in my kitchen and gave a verbal report to Sears but nothing written). So Im in the hole for a crap product that is only a few weeks old and Whirlpool and Sears have got us over a barrel. The tech guy said he was going to challenge their tech line now because hes upset at how many of these band-aid fridges hes seeing now. I want a different brand and model and cant have it because Sears dont have it. In dire straits now.
