Whirlpool Range Troubleshooting
If you're looking for help fixing your Whirlpool Range, look no further! Our comprehensive Whirlpool Range Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.
Nothing Works
If your entire range won’t turn on, check for a power issue. Make sure the range’s power cord is plugged into an operational, grounded outlet. You can test the outlet by plugging a small appliance like a lamp into it and seeing if it turns on. If the outlet doesn’t have power, check your home’s circuit breaker or fuse box and reset the breaker or replace a blown fuse as necessary. Consult an electrician if the range still won’t turn on.
Stovetop Doesn't Work
If the cooktop portion of your range won’t operate, ensure that you’ve set the control knob properly. You must push the knob in to turn it to a setting. If your model has a control panel instead of knob, ensure that you’ve touched the display area on the panel to select one of the burners before choosing a function. For models with ceramic glass cooktops, verify that the Control Lockout feature hasn’t been set. This setting locks all of the controls so the cooktop won’t operate. Usually, the control panel will indicate that the setting is engaged with “LOCKED” on the display. Consult your owner’s manual to determine what pads need to be pressed to unlock the controls.
Oven Doesn't Work
When your range’s oven won’t operate, start your troubleshooting by verifying that the electronic oven control is set properly. Check your owner’s manual to determine the proper way to set your model’s controls when using the oven. Next, make sure that the range’s Delay Start feature, which programs the oven to turn on at a future time, hasn’t been activated. The oven also won’t operate if the Control Lockout feature has been set; check your owner’s manual to see how to unlock the controls if necessary.
Makes Strange Noises
You may near some noises that cause concern when your range is in operation. They are often normal operating sounds. If your range features a convection oven, you may hear a humming sound when cooking at high power. The sound should quiet or go away completely when you turn down the power. With a ceramic glass cooktop, you may hear a whirring sound during use. The cooktop has a fan that runs at various speeds to keep the electronics at a controlled temperature. It may continue to run after the cooktop is turned off, if the temperature is very high.

Whirlpool Range difficulty
My 3 year old Whirlpool refrigerator costing $1285.86, needs a new motor and fan. Of course it died right after a trip to the grocery store. On a week temperatures were well into the 90 degree range. Needless to say my groceries had to be thrown out at a cost of an additional $250. How convenient that the refrigerator died 2 months after the 3 year protection plan ran out. I just spent $182.94 to have a repair person come and check out the refrigerator. I will need to spend another $170.00-$200.00 for the motor and fan once the parts come in, which can take up to another 10 days. Had to go out and buy a backup refrigerator that cost $562.38. Also had an issue with this refrigerator after a year and half with ice building up in the bottom of the freezer. Luckily we had the protection plan at that time, otherwise that would have cost us $157.58. The refrigerator is stainless steel and I have a terrible time keeping the rust off the front of it. At this point l guess all I can do is warn everyone I know to never buy a Whirlpool appliance if this is an indication of how they manufacture their products. So very disgusted with this refrigerator! Sad my old Frigidaire was close to 30 years old when the freezer just wasnt freezing well anymore. Thats why my new backup refrigerator is a Frigidaire and not a Whirlpool.
Buyers beware of Whirlpool ovens! We bought a Whirlpool Built-In Electric Oven in August 2008. Fifteen months later, I decided to clean the oven for the first time and when I turned it on the auto-clean, the entire control panel went dark. The technician said he has seen this problem several times in such ovens and was able to repair the oven. I called Whirlpool and they had not heard of this being a common problem. Last week, the air blower wasnt functioning and had to be replaced. I called Whirlpool again and told them about this second incident in a 4 year old oven that is not used frequently. I told them their quality assurance people and/or engineers need to re-evaluate their products. My lesson learned is that I will never purchase another Whirlpool or Whirlpool related product.
Ice maker stopped making ice. This side by side Whirlpool refrigerator was purchased 4 years ago. We called Whirlpool. An authorized repair man identified the problem. At the bottom hinge of the freezer door two of the wires have been broken. A defective design, but no recall from Whirlpool. The solution is to replace the entire freezer door for a cost of $1200. Ridiculous that a replacement door cost more than the purchase price from Lowes. It would appear that these 2 wires could be reconnected, but Whirlpools only solution is an entire new door. Automakers stand behind their products with recalls, but its not the same with Whirlpool. Love my Whirlpool range, washer and dryer, but this counter depth side by side is a real loser.
I have had trouble with this AccuBake stove since four months after I bought it in 2011. First, the clean cycle would work intermittently then would not ignite to bake, broil warm or clean. All burners would light intermittently. Every time I had trouble, I called the service tech from Homestead Lumber, where I purchased the product from and he could never find anything wrong. Product would work fine whenever he came out. Finally, it acted up in May of this year while the product was still under warranty and while the service tech was here. The tech replaced the circuit board. One month later, Im still having trouble replacing igniter. Four days ago, Im still having trouble. This stove stinks. Right now, I wish I had my $959 back for the stove and wish Whirlpool had it stuck up their butt.
I purchase a suite of Whirlpool Kitchen Appliances April 2017. My range is the slide in model. The knobs are on the front of the stove top. I 4 months in I saw that the paint behind the plastic panel where the knobs are was chipping. Also, the gasket in the oven had some loose threads so I finally decided to call the warranty. Whirlpool paid for the gasket to be replaced but Customer service said the chipping was cosmetic and that only covered for 30 days. I am so disappointed in this range and Whirlpool. My stove looks very used after 10 months. I followed the instructions on what to clean it with and how to clean so I know its not me. The paint chipping is crazy! How as consumers do we deal with this? This Range was a cost over $2000! and they give me touch-up paint!I purchased Whirlpool because I researched prior to purchasing my appliances. I thought I was buying Quality, this is not quality! At Christmas I had a pot of potatoes boil over and the element circle on the glass top cam off with cleaning. This too is not covered because its cosmetic. Ironically, my old glass top Whirlpool range did the same thing. That why I got a new one! I guess it still works. Who cares how it looks... RIGHT? Well, I WAS a good Whirlpool customer. Not anymore! Do not purchase Whirlpool glass top ranges unless you want it to look worn out after less than one year. I have tried to post pictures but this wont let me paste them!
First time owner of a Whirlpool range and will be the last time. Nothing but junk! I liked how the top grates were and electronic ignition. The knobs turn too easy and often when bumped will turn gas on without igniting. Very dangerous. The oven grates guides rusted almost immediately making it difficult to pull racks out. The oven light works sometimes. The glass on the oven door at the bottom came unglued. The bottom door under oven is a total waste. No use for it. In my adult life I have had different brands but this is the absolute worst and will never recommend this brand to anyone period.
Whirlpool electric range with ceramic cooktop - I have a large black mark on one of the cooktop burners that appears to be beneath the surface of the cooktop. It’s almost within the finish of the burner and unable to be cleaned with cooktop cleaner. I have purchased an extended warranty and arranged for a service call. The repairman came out as scheduled, but informed me after making a phone call to who knows, because he did not tell us that the problem was cosmetic and could not be repaired under warranty. However, if we wanted a replacement cooktop, it would cost almost as much as a new stove. He also said that he had seen many of these ceramic burners with that problem and it was not unusual. All I really want is what is fair, a defect that is not my fault that needs to be replaced. The stove (Whirlpool electric range with ceramic cooktop) was purchased in 2004 and is kept very, very clean.
I purchased 3 appliances (microwave, stove, and dishwasher) on 10/22/10 when they were on sale at Sears for my soon to be remodeled kitchen. I did not have them delivered until 11/15/10 until contractor was getting ready for them. They still were not installed immediately. On 11/17/11, in the evening, the microwave stopped working. I called Whirlpool on 11/18/11 for service. Whirlpool will not honor the 1-year warranty since technically I bought them in October 2010 but did not even have them installed in my home for use until the end of November or beginning of December 2010. Common sense tells me the company should honor the warranty. Are products being made today to last less than a year before they go bad? To pay for a service call and parts, I can buy a new microwave (but you can bet it wont be Whirlpool).
My Whirlpool range, was purchased 14 years ago. It was fine until 2 months ago. I was preparing a meal for a dinner party and the oven went from low baking into Clean mode. (This cant be done by accident, it is many step process to go into clean mode) Locking the door! When I realized what was happening I immediately turned the breaker off but we still could not open the range door. Since the oven had my potato casserole and my Teflon coated cookie sheets inside it started to emit a toxic smell choking all of us inside the house. The unit was too hot to touch so my husband and brother-in-law finally donned gloves and got the range outside. I called Whirlpool the next morning and got the run around as to what type of range it was Kenmore/Whirlpool. Whirlpool finally sent someone out to look at the range and their determination was it caught on fire and melted! The company will not do anything about the unit or all the damage it cause because the range is over 10 years old. But they did not tell me this until I had spent weeks getting estimates and gathering information for them. I TOLD THEM DURING THE INITIAL CALL THE RANGE WAS 14 YEARS OLD. I TOLD THEM THE EXACT DATE IT WAS PURCHASED. Whirlpool sent me a letter from their Claims Resolution Department saying my DISHWASHER will not be covered and misspelling my last name. I have tried to call the person ** at least 25 times and she never answers the phone, only get her voicemail. I just wanted to tell them I was a little concerned about their accuracy with the typing of the name and product..... How complete could the investigation have been if they didnt even get the product correct. The smoke/smell ruined my microwave and ceiling fan. We had to paint the ceiling, redo wallpaper and professionally clean all the carpets and drapes on my first floor (we had just remodeled our kitchen last May so this was an expensive redo not in the budget. Not to mention the cost of a new range). I will NEVER buy a Whirlpool again. And I want to spread the word about the possibility of your range having the same problem.
Called Whirlpool customer care for help with identifying make and model number of a slide-in, ceramic cook-top range (one of their popular brands). The representative was cordial, patient and very helpful when it came to giving me directions on how to locate make/model information on the unit. That was until I let her know about a recent problem with the stove. The edge of the cooktop is much too sharp! My hand got cut while wiping down the stove top/adjacent counter. Although Ive had the stove for a while, Id never had that happen before; thats probably because I used a thin rag this time around to do the cleaning. I asked the rep if anyone else had reported getting cut by the stove top. She said, No. I let her know that my goal was to just them know about the situation, because such a sharp edge on a cooktop is a safety issue. She disagreed. But what could or should she have said? In all fairness, it came down to balancing loyalty to the company with genuine care for the customer.I do appreciate how kind she was in communicating with me, but am very displeased that once Id shared about the problem she seemed rather dismissive of the situation. How could the risk of being cut NOT be a product safety issue??? If you visit the Consumer Products Safety Commission website, you can see where risk of laceration is a reason some products are recalled. Based on that understanding, I would say that sharp edges on a ceramic cooktop IS a safety issue!
In November 2012 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator, model WRF990SLAM from Lowes. This model has the ice maker in the door. We also purchased an extended warranty. In July of 2013, we contacted Lowes service because the refrigerator had ice inside it, top left, where the ice maker equipment is located. Also, under the ice bin, there was a solid block of ice. Water was dripping onto our food inside the refrigerator. August 6, a 3rd party repair company came and replaced parts. One week later, the same issue was happening. We called for service again. It took until 9/9 for them to come out again, and replace the same parts. Approximately 2 weeks later, SAME problem. This time, I called Whirlpool directly. I was told that they (Whirlpool) are aware of the problem with this model, and they should have new parts in by the end of the month that will fix that problem. They even have a special team for this! I asked for their direct number (866-461-2287). On 10/7 I phoned again asking for a status update. I was told that they were just waiting for approval to call consumers to set appointments, and I should hear from them by the end of the week. I also informed them that I was no longer able to use the ice maker or water dispenser because it was now leaking substantially into the refrigerator. They made a note of it. As of today, 10/13, I have not had a call back. This refrigerator cost us nearly 2500.00 and has a known defect! Tomorrow, Monday 10/14, I will begin to demand a new refrigerator (different model!) via Lowes AND Whirlpool. Too bad Whirlpool. Were now going to buy a new gas range...and I can guarantee you it will NOT be a Whirlpool!
Horrible stove. Bought online. Get set up and its worst design ever. Have to lay down on floor to watch broiler. Cant even slide out. The stove top is difficult to clean. The cast iron grates are very heavy and have to move one side at a time. I Cant control low heat. Have to use back burner only. Then Crap builds up on back console. The oven grates are too wide apart, Have To supplement with racks from my other stove oven.
I exchanged my fancy front loader Cabrio washing machine for a top loader after having numerous issues: clothes werent getting clean, extended water cycle, and a leak. The original purchase was made at Lowes, where I elected to invest in the 3 yr extended warranty plan. After several visits from their sub-contractor, they allowed me to exchange the washer for a top loader Whirlpool Cabrio. At first the washer seemed to work, but after about 8 months I started having problems. The bearings went out and when the service company replaced it they forgot to screw top of the machine together. During my first load, I heard this terrible noise and discovered that the entire top of the machine had separated from the bottom by 2 inches. I frantically rushed to turn the washer off before my laundry room flooded. So, they were out again and screwed the machine back together but failed to retrieve the original screw that they removed from the washer during the first round. Well, the screw got lodged in-between the drum and interior, causing it to completely break the machine. Lowes agreed to exchange the washer for another top loader Cabrio, but my 3 year service contract would not cover the new washer. Not to my surprise, I immediately had issues with it and had to hire a repairman to assess the problem, who concluded that it was the bearings. He informed me that it would be about $700 to replace the bearings and cheaper to just buy a new machine. I called Whirlpool and explained to them about all my issues, now becoming almost comical. They arranged for an outside contractor to assess it. After confirming that the bearing were bad they replaced them. Another few months go by before problems occur, this time the washing machine stopped draining water and spinning. The service company was out another 4 times. They replaced things like the mother board and control panel. My last appointment was today, where the service guy said, There is only one error code. It is a stuck button. I said, Will you at least witness a full cycle so I can show you all my problems: clothes still dirty and stinky, items still wet after spin cycle, cycle taking 2 to 3 hours to run, horrible noises, and timer adding minutes to original cycle. He called Whirlpool because he genuinely felt sorry for my situation. They were of no help. He didnt stay to witness a cycle. Moral of story: if the error code doesnt detect a problem, the consumer will not be helped (this is something that consumers do not have access to). They will happily call a technician out to put a bandaid on an issue until your warranty runs out. I have had between 7 to 10 service calls out to my house, requiring me to take either an entire or 1/2 day off of work each time. If I added up all time lost at work, I could have easily purchased a top-of-the-line washer/dryer duo and been done with all this Whirlpool foolishness. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this product.
Avoid Whirlpool at all cost. I have had the GSS series, which was horrible. It was declared unfixable by service after 2 weeks of ownership. It was replaced with a similar WP model WS series and was told it was basically identical to the GSS series except for some cosmetic differences (They do look identical and yes, it’s just as horrible as the GSS.). The first one was defective from day 1. It was replaced and assured the next one would be thoroughly checked out prior to delivery. Obviously, nobody did this (was still in box and never opened). The fridge arrived and had the same exact defects as the previous units. Service literally said these were junk and they had nothing but issues with them that they simply cannot fix, and issues Whirlpool is obviously aware of but will not admit to, nor back up their products. Service literally told me to avoid WP at all cost or I will have nothing but non-stop issues and non-stop service calls and the fridge will still not be fixed. I purchased the extended 5 year warranty that clearly states that the fridge will be fixed or replaced if deemed non-repairable. Mine was! Yet, neither Whirlpool nor the retailer will do anything. I was literally told Take it to the dump and go buy a new fridge by both Whirlpool and the retailer. My purchase was less than a year ago. The 3rd fridge has only been here 3 months. They took my $1,500. They took my money for the extended warranty. It has been declared non-repairable, yet Whirlpool’s and the retailer’s response is Too bad, we are keeping your money, not honoring the warranty. We don’t care if it’s non-repairable. Take it to the dump and buy a new one. This is new! The money it cost, the money for extended warranty, the money for lost food, the money for lost wages due to having to be here for repeated service calls, the huge amount of time spent using hair dryers and everything else under the sun (this fridge must be baby sat and monitored pretty much 24/7 due to more issues than I can list). The fact this fridge has taken over my life, with freezer and fridge unusable (totally unusable, it has taken over my life, but I still can’t use it and spend a fortune getting take-out food) is just shocking, but more shocking is the fact neither WP or the retailer (the blue one that starts with an L, ends with an S and competes with HD the orange store) will stand behind the product or the warranty and instead is telling me to flush multi thousands of dollars down the drain and take my new, with extended warranty, to the dump and buy a new one. Calls to both companies only led to more wasted time and frustration.I don’t even see how this can be legal. They happily took my money. They fully explained how I needed the extended warranty in case something like this happens and assured me the extended warranty would protect me in case something goes wrong for 5 full years. They will replace it with a new one if un-repairable. Yet in less than a year, Ive gotten 3 defective ones with the last one only 3 months old with the first service call made on the day after delivery, but I’m supposed to throw all this money down the drain, take my new fully warranted fridge to the dump and buy a new one?!Shocking and not something I can afford to do. If I could afford it, I would get this thing out of my house in a heartbeat and buy something else, but I’m not made of money so this is not an option. Not sure what I can do other than to warn others to avoid Whirlpool and avoid the retailer (L---s). I’m just in shock and to say I’m upset would not even come close to describing my utter disappointment and frustration with both companies and this whole ordeal (never ending nightmare is more appropriate).
We purchased a Whirlpool AccuBake oven in 2005. I think we used the self-cleaning feature about 3 times. The reason I mention this is it may be a possible cause to the frightening experience we had on August 15, 2012. My wife was cooking on the stove top when suddenly we heard loud electrical explosions coming from the back of the oven. We soon saw long arcing bolts of sparks shooting out the back, and my wife was terrified and didnt know what to do. I told her and my son to stay away from it. I ran to the circuit breaker box and turned off the breaker. We then looked in the back of the oven and it was on fire. I ran around looking for a fire extinguisher but my son managed to put the fire out. We called Whirlpool up and explained what had happened. They immediately sent someone out to look at it.I was very impressed at how fast they got someone out there. Whirlpool sent two technicians to look at the damage. After they were done inspecting, they told my wife that the problem is loose connections on Whirlpools side and not the feed and it had a damaged control board and that this is the fault of Whirlpool. He was very polite to us and apologized for any inconvenience. After a week had passed, no one called us, so my wife called and talked to some woman representative at Whirlpool. She told my wife that the report she got said that the oven had loose connection on the feed side from where we bought the oven and we should deal with them. My wife couldnt believe her ears and said, No, thats not what the technician told us, and the woman continued to talk and my wife said, Wait, slow down. The woman replied, Oh, am I going too fast for you? Well, I guess I have to talk slower then, in a sarcastic tone. My wife then called the technician who wrote the report and explained what the representative had told her, and his reply was, I cant believe she said that. I am not happy about this, that is not what I wrote in my report. Dont worry, I will personally take care of this. Again, the technician was civil and polite. After two days passed, my wife talked to the same woman again but this time she changed her story. She never apologized and said, It looks like in this report that the connections were loose to the control board. Since the oven is 7 years old and accounting for depreciation, Whirlpool is offering to you a total of $59. My wife said, Really, $59? How long is the life expectancy of these ovens? She told her, 10 years. My wife said, 10 years? Well, ours only lasted 7 and you are giving us $59 after we were almost killed and my home could have burnt down to the ground? She said, That is our offer.I called Whirlpool back and asked to talk with the safety supervisor and it was a woman again. Was it the same woman? It could have been the same woman my wife talked to, I was not sure. I asked her, When is it appropriate to issue a recall on a product? Our oven was defective at purchase. She said, You are the only complaint we had on this oven, so no recall is necessary. Yes, I said, but since it has been proven this is the fault of Whirlpool, I would expect at least a working oven from Whirlpool. I also told her the technician told my wife that Whirlpool should be bending over backwards for you, and she said, I apologize for the technicians remarks. I told her that I was dissatisfied and she will be hearing from me in the future. I did some looking on the internet and I found that KitchenAid which is made from Whirlpool had issues with a particular oven which was found that when the self-cleaning feature was used, it would heat up the control board, and since most people dont use the self-cleaning feature that often, it would take a very long time to develop. I thought that loose connections and heat are a bad recipe for disaster, and that quality control negligence and inferior components are to blame. Considering the past history and track record of class action lawsuits and appliance malfunctions such as the control board on their dishwashers, I believe it is all connected and related to my problem. Sorry but $59 isnt going to buy me a decent toaster oven, let alone a real oven. That oven should have lasted over 10 years and considering the possible damage and deaths that could have occurred, you would think that it would be in Whirlpools best interest to address this problem and bend over backwards for anyone who had the misfortune of purchasing this mickey-moused nightmare of a disaster-waiting-to-happen problem. Its not so much the money. What if a small child touches an oven as it conducts 220 volts then shocks into a childs heart to ground? What a ticking time bomb this oven is. As far as I am concerned, I dont want a dangerous oven like this in my home and Whirlpool needs to take some lessons in public relations.
The burners were very crooked and the pans got burned out right away. They were covered under warranty but since then, they had the same problem with them with the new items. They had the light bulb stuck and couldnt get it out, they came under warranty and now a new light bulb wont work in it. The control top indicator light didnt work so I had that fixed under the warranty, but now it has the same problem and I cant afford to get it fixed and it could be a real safety issue. When it was under warranty, I called about the brown in between the oven door and they said it was cosmetic. It gets worse every time we use the self-cleaning oven like the seal isnt tight. The outside of the door gets brown also when using the self-cleaning oven. We thought we would have this range for a long time as we had a Whirlpool range before which lasted 20 years. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again and we have had a lot of them. e cant afford to buy a new one so we are stuck with this one with all its problems. Whirlpool just gives you the runaround when you call. When they brought the range, the self-cleaning oven part wasnt even hooked up so they had to come back and fix it. I cant believe they dont have more recalls on these. I have only had this for 4 years.
I have a new Whirlpool double convection oven which is very noisy. There is a rattle and pinging noise that occurs and the fan is also loud. Im not sure if it is an install or product issue. Can anyone comment on their convection oven? I dont believe this is normal. I am disappointed with my purchase and would opt for gas or basic electric. The double convection ovens were fairly pricey too.
I bought my Whirlpool range in 2009. Good thing I bought an extra warranty because since then, my oven has stopped working about 5 or 6 times. When I turn the oven on, it does the clicking sound, it starts up then it turns off and sometimes it doesnt even turn on. In 2010, I had my turkey ready for the oven at Thanksgiving. I turned on the oven and nothing. I had to cut the turkey and deep fry it. In 2011, same time on Thanksgiving and now Ive been waiting for 2 weeks for the part. I have 4 kids. I need an oven. I cant take this anymore. Also, out of the blue, sometimes the stove top starts clicking on its own and it scares the hell out of us. I have to unplug the stove. Help.
Apparently the planned obsolescence period for Whirlpool ovens and microwaves is 11 years. Last month, we had to get the oven repaired, and now the microwave has stopped heating. Coincidence??
I have the stainless steel Whirlpool Gold appliances. They look beautiful but do not work for long. For one, the dual burner never heated properly on the cooktop. I just worked around it. The oven vent on the cooktop left brown marks on the stainless facade attic top by the clock. Ive read some have melted this area. Then after 2 years, the entire front glass door and handle fell off when I opened it. It not only fell, but the cheap plastic lip that holds the door on cracked so it is impossible to get back on. So, since I cant afford a new stove. Im stuck with this horrible looking mess in my kitchen.
I have a gas range Model WFG540HOESO Airlift self clean. When anyone reaches across or leans against the range, ever so slightly, the knobs turn and gas is released. It is EXTREMELY dangerous. The Airlift self clean has never worked. When the repairman contacted the technicians at Whirlpool, they told him that there was nothing they could do. In other words, I am stuck with an oven that will not self clean. The water in the bottom does not even come to a boil.
We bought a Whirlpool range. The same day we got it the burner exploded and my electricity went off. I called the customer service to request a replace, they told me a technician had to go and look at it. They did. I had to miss a day of work as they come between 9 to 5 pm (will not tell you what time). The guy say the range is defective (really!??) and will need to request parts. I called them again (after 15 times you wait minimum 30 min each time). They told me they can replace the parts. I said I bought a new appliance not an use one. Money back. Told me somebody will contact me. Week later nobody contact me and still waiting 30 min each time. I called nobody answer my calls. I wonder I may get somebody if I wait hours? No idea. Please do not buy from this guys... They are bad in all the way.
I bought a new home from Pulte recently. All of the kitchen appliances were Whirlpool which came with a 1 year warranty. I have had problems with 2 out of the three that were installed. The oven had a faulty control panel. I am still waiting for the replacement from Whirlpool which I am told could be months getting there. The dishwasher they installed, FX1700017, leaks water from the vent at the top of the door. When you open the door after running a load, there is a puddle under the vent from water that is trapped in the vent. The service company that they sent out said it is a design flaw and there is no fix for it.Whirlpool just keeps saying since there arent any error codes coming up, there isnt a problem with the way the dishwasher is functioning. I was told I could pay for another opinion, but they wouldnt guarantee to reimburse me if they couldnt prove the dishwasher wasnt functioning properly. I guess they dont consider someone slipping and falling because they didnt see the puddle before it got cleaned up a problem. I have given up trying to get anywhere with Whirlpool. I will take my $150.00 for a second opinion and the $200.00 that they want for an extended warranty and put it toward a dishwasher that doesnt leak! Beware!!
I purchased a Whirlpool range from Lowes for $750.00. After 13 months, the digital circuit board went out and cost $580.00 to repair. I thought this was odd since the range was fairly new. The service tech said the boards are a common problem. Two years later, when using the self-cleaning mode, the door was locked and the board was out again. So this must be the issue because that is the same problem that happened the first time. This must be a design flaw! The board cannot handle the heat generated in self-clean mode. Way to go Whirlpool, put the board near the oven door where it is subjected to extreme heat and melts!
In all of my 50 years of marriage and buying stoves, I have never had an oven breakdown. I live in Canada - I purchased three appliances, all Whirlpool 2 years ago. I had to have a service call on the fridge three weeks ago - a little rubber nipple was clogged up and water was running into my freezer. Bill $100.00 - two weeks ago, the broil element in my stove would not turn off when the bake cycle heated up. Actually, you did not have to press the fast heat button as the broil came on by itself. I have been waiting almost two weeks for the part - today I was told it would be another week. The part has to come from the US - what ever happened to Whirlpool Canada???? - I am told the bill will be $350.00 and maybe more plus the service call. I do not find this acceptable. What do you do when you have already invested the money in the product. Bring back the old Moffat stoves. I would like to be reimbursed for the money I have put out and will put out.
Ive had the stove a long time with no issues. The self clean doesnt really clean of course. In my experience, I dont think many do clean well. Maybe there are newer ones that do work better. I would probably buy Whirlpool again.
Over the last 3 years, the self-cleaning oven has decided to lock the door and clean itself with my food still inside on five different occasions. There is no way to override the lock. We have to shut off the electric power completely then wait for the oven to cool down before we can open the door and remove the charcoal substances! This happened once while a member of our fire department was here for dinner. This is one of the most frustrating and dangerous events ever! Please, please, please do not purchase a Whirlpool self-cleaning oven! I will never purchase one again. I was so excited to have a glass top stove and the first time this happened, I thought it was just a freak occurrence. But it is happening again and again. My oven is kept clean in attempt to avoid this, but to no avail. Not only am I afraid of a fire, but Im also out too many dollars of food waste! How disappointing to be cooking dinner and have it ruined by the oven. Nothing was burning in the oven at the time it decided to lock itself either! Disappointed, frustrated, and extremely miffed!
We purchased a 4 piece set of Whirlpool kitchen appliances and have minor to major problems with 3 out of the 4. We had problems with our gas range/oven from the start. When I called to register the brand new range they told me it had been previously registered to someone else and they made me fax my receipt to them proving that the appliance was purchased new. Lowes said it was brand new in the box when I purchased it leading me to believe Whirlpool tried to pass off a refurbished product onto Lowes and then onto us. No surprise when the stove stopped working 3 times in barely over a year. It was so defective Lowes ended up replacing it for us. Not Whirlpool... they only argued with me about how the third time it was out of warranty and offered no help in fixing or replacing the defective oven. Now our ice maker just stopped dispensing ice 7 days after our warranty expired on our refrigerator model # WRS586FLDM00. Whirlpool will only agree to cover parts and is sticking us with the service call and labor! And thats not all... the plastic coating on the dishwasher racks started coming off exposing rusty metal when it was barely over a year old and I have received a postcard indicating there is a lawsuit involving our model for overheating and fire events! Now waiting for that to be our next issue. I am so disgusted with Whirlpool. We bought Whirlpool appliances believing they were quality products. They are quite the opposite. Wish I had researched their reputation and history of complaints before buying. Do not recommend Whirlpool Brand. Sincerely, Disgusted in California
I got the works; the stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. I cannot believe all the BS you got to do to baby these appliances. If I had designed this mess... I would not be selling it. Every one of the appliances has a issue... the oven takes a long time just to cook toast. I would send them all back... but from what I have been told this is it. They all suck! I sure wish I had my older appliances back. I see the city dump in their future! I got the black stainless. Believe me I am not happy at all. The repair people have already had to fix or replace parts and I have not had this stuff for 30 days yet.
I purchased Whirlpool gas range with AquaLift Self Cleaning Tech exactly a year ago. DOES NOT WORK!!! The only Self that cleans will be you on your hands and knees. Still dont know what to use. Manual says do not use oven cleaner or abrasive or you void the warranty. Ok Whirlpool any suggestions? Soap and mild detergent not cutting it. You would think with all the customers complaining about this feature the bright engineers that designed this would come up with a solution.
Purchased this oven on 9/12 from Sears, did not purchase an extended warranty and didnt think it was necessary. Im a 64 year old widow and only use the oven on holidays, to date Ive used the over 5 times. With Easter coming, I decided to clean the oven. Followed the instructions, the door locked and the oven died. Im totally disappointed, now it would cost over 100.00 to repair, money I cannot afford. Called Sears and all I was told over and over again that they can send a repaid person and I would have to pay. I was also told that I should have purchased a Kenmore and I wouldnt have had a problem and finally I was told that they couldnt fix it and referred me to whirlpool customer service, who also told me it would cost over 100.00. A 19 month oven should not have died. It should have cleaned the oven and continue to work for many more years. Again, Im upset, angry and disappointed with sears & whirlpool. And dont know what to do. Does anyone else have this problem with the oven, is there a recall?
I purchased a Whirlpool water heater with the Flame Lock Safety System on 6/4/12. When installing the water heater, the cold water pipe would not screw into the top of the water heater. I exchanged this water heater for a new water heater of the same make and model. I brought this water heater home and had it installed and noticed that the flame on the burner was orange and too high. I called the 877-817-6750 number for warranty and was told by the customer service rep that it was either the gas regulator or the orifice inside the water heater. I was told to contact a plumber to take care of this issue and it was not a warranty claim and not their problem. I then went to the Lowes store where I purchased the unit and spoke to a manager. The manager called the same number I called and was told the same thing, that I was responsible for the repairs to the unit. How can this not be covered? Both pieces are internal to the unit and were never touched during installation. I now have to remove and return this unit and install a new water heater that will not be a Whirlpool at my own expense. Do not buy Whirlpool.
I have a combo Microwave oven/oven GMC275PDS07. When the microwave is finished with the requested program, the end of program chime lets you know its done. Then, if the door is not opened for at least 3 seconds, the chime will ring again every minute thereafter ad nauseum. This will go on for hours without end. I know because I tried it. I reached out to Whirlpool via a web chat and my question was not even addressed. I was ignored. From reading other submissions, I assume this is de rigueur for Whirlpool. I then called Whirlpool and spoke to Katie in Tennessee. She was not able to bring up any make or model when I provided her the numbers exactly as listed on the inside of the door. She was not able to provide any respite from this annoying feature. This a Whirlpool Gold model, presumably the top of the line, in my book I will never purchase any Whirlpool product of any type and I will make it a point to let anyone who will listen that Whirlpool is not a manufacturer that takes its customers concerns seriously. Katie then advised that she looked up this feature and told me there is no way to turn the beeping off. I find this amusing since she could not find the model or serial number when I gave it to her.
My Whirlpool stove works really well, and it is self cleaning. I have had my present oven/stove combo now for 5 years and had not had one single mishap at all. I am so confident that you will like it I am personally recommending it. It bakes beautifully and if there is a spill or overflow in the oven I just press a button & it cleans itself!
I purchased the Front-Loader Duet in June of 2008. Like many of the consumers here, my machine began making a thunderous sound during the spin cycle. I contacted Whirlpool and arranged for service. The service call was $129, the estimate was over $1100 to repair (bad bearing). The machine originally cost $899 plus tax. I called customer service to complain. I had owned two top-loader Whirlpool machines; one for 15 years, the other for 12 years with no service calls ever needed. How can Whirlpool possibly justify what is obviously a design defect by telling me that I should have bought an extended warranty? I replied that in my experience, an extended warranty is an unnecessary expense for a Whirlpool product.
Whirlpool stove, product ID WFG540HOES. I purchased a whirlpool gas stove in 2014 for a lake house. Came to my lake house to find the temperature was 90 degrees inside and the oven was running full blast. The oven had turned itself on. Whirlpool appears to be having a problem with this type of issue. Called their customer care department and was transferred to the appliance safety line which was only a line to leave a voicemail. Very bad customer service. My kitchen countertops and kitchen floor will need to be replaced, also cannot get rid of the burnt smell in my house. Do not recommend purchasing Whirlpool appliances.
During the initial warranty the oven was not heating properly. Several service calls within the warranty issue was not resolved. Whirlpool extended the warranty another year as of this date and several service calls problem not resolved. When a tech comes out there is a diagnostic check that checks the temp for 10 min. Since the temp drops after 10 min they cannot detect problem. I asked for the tech to remain for the complete cooking period which they cannot do. I have wasted many meals and still have a oven that does not work.
Purchased above refrigerator (WRF736SDAM13) over a year ago and it has been nothing but trouble. Ive had service companies out 6 different times. The doors never lined up or closed properly from day one. The final and last attempt to fix was putting caulk in the seal of the doors!! Left door does not seal properly and moisture builds up on inside. I requested several times for a new one and Whirlpool refused. Also purchased microwave, stove and dishwasher. Microwave went out 6 months after using it. They had to replace a major part. At least they did this at no charge. Just the hassle of having to be home 2 times to meet service tech. WILL NEVER purchase Whirlpool appliances again. Ive been using them for in all my homes in the past. STAY AWAY from this model.
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio for $1,100 because it was the largest capacity washer in our price range at the time. It has had very little use as I typically take my clothes to the laundry mat since it is anything but large capacity. I have always had problems with the buttons malfunctioning but I went to empty a load and the water was still standing in it - I got code ld and realized that the entire tub had broke off and dropped into the bottom of the machine. Where is the class-action law suit? I want to be the first name on it. I dont have $1,100 to waste on junk. Whirlpool should be ashamed.
Bought on 9/11/2014 and installed by Lowes installers on the 15th. It quit heating two days later. Called Lowes and they said I would have to call Whirlpool. I did. WP had me metering with a multi-meter until found OTC button was tripped. Then they suggested I troubleshoot the elements and sent me a video. I called Lowes and they said they would replace. Later they called back and said WP would not give them a RA number and for me to call them. I did and the rep after much arguing directed me to call their factory authorized service, A & E. I did and they said it would be 33 days before they could come out. I hung up and called Lowes who called back later and wanted me to call WP again. This time they said they did not have a repair service close enough to come, but I could try buying the lower heating element and replacing it to see if that worked. I said no, the heater was brand new and they needed to fix it. Their next solution was have me contact a local plumber and arrange to troubleshoot, me pay the plumber and then send them the bill. They would reimburse me up to $100.00. Not acceptable and now the button has to be reset every few hours and the water gets scalding hot while it is heating. I called Lowes and they said they would get back to me, but I have little hope of a resolution. Product number is ** SN is ** Model is E2F50HD045V. Bought at Lowes, Lindale, TX.
My parents bought a Whirlpool refrigerator that makes a strange noise, an intermittent clicking. Sometimes it goes on for hours. It is neither the ice maker, nor the compressor. I contacted Whirlpool, they said it is normal. It is not normal. I have a twenty-year-old refrigerator far quieter than this brand new, $2600 noisemaker that keeps things cold.
3 months after warranty the oven will not stay on. I will stay on for only 20 minutes then it goes out. It clicks but will not come on. I can only use my oven for backing biscuits but cannot bake chicken or meats.
l will never buy Whirlpool appliances again, nor do I recommend to anyone. My wall over was 1 1/2 yrs old with a worthless 1 yr limited Warranty. I had Total Appliance from Cleveland do the repair, the only ones I found at the time that would work on this type over with a Digital panel. I think the engineers think we all live in Silicon Valley. Unfortunately the cost to repair after I cleaned the oven for the first time was $384.00 to unlock the door and 2 trips and he had to remove the door to replace 2 fuses so the door and panel would work! Im afraid to clean them oven again..I called Whirlpool and the first wait time was 70 Mins... I put the phone on speaker, finally I talked to 2 Customer Service men to no avail. He basically said my Warranty was up and nothing they could do! I said I was going to complain on Social Media and he didnt care! Go to Consumers Digest before you buy any new appliance! PS, I also went on YOUTUBE and you can see all the TROUBLESHOOTING ON MANY APPLIANCES!
I purchased this Whirlpool Aqualift oven at now bankrupt HH Gregg so my recourse is limited. I loved the look of the slide in range and the salesman raved about the quality of this appliance. First the ceramic top is a nightmare to keep clean, not mentioned at purchase. The Aqualift feature is totally useless. I use my oven on a very limited basis. Putting water in the bottom of oven does absolutely nothing to clean oven and even less on sides and oven door. I spent a substantial amount of money on this so called self clean oven and I am so disappointed in results. It does not get off even a minimum of spots, I would hate to have something actually spill over. Aqualift does not work and then you are advised to not use anything else to clean it, so what now?
I bought YMFE330W0AW0 Whirlpool on sale less than a year ago and I have been angry since almost the beginning. This is a cheaply made product which angers me because Whirlpool is supposed to be a quality product. The clock cannot be set because we have to press really hard and that part of the stove head is broken now. I knew this would happen after only a few weeks but was wishing it would not. There is a lot of heat that leaks out of the oven continuously when trying to bake something. The top is horrible. This stove top does not keep an equal heating element so if you put it on low, it actually turns off for a few minutes and becomes red again for a moment or so. It is impossible to cook anything evenly. I HATE and DETEST this stove. The worst product I have ever known. If it is on sale...BEWARE.
We too have nothing but problems with our supposedly top of the line convection/microwave oven. Purchased in 2010 in February for new kitchen. From start, original microwave installed did not work, would not cook or heat. Dealer replaced. One year later, same problem, but now out of warranty. Had to pay labor, costs, and parts to get fixed. Fast forward 13 months, again magnetron needs replaced, microwave will not work. What a hunk of junk for our money. I will never buy any Whirlpool appliances again, and I will tell everyone I know the same. When you call customer service, they are nice but only say “too bad, out of warranty”. What a joke for a major appliance company to tell customers. It is obvious that this microwave is faulty from the get go, and they just keep on making them the same way and not trying to fix the problem.
We bought this dishwasher new from the Brick 2 or 3 years ago. It was bought not because old dishwasher wasnt working, but we needed a new fridge and stove so we also bought a dishwasher to match the new stainless steel fridge/stove. If I could give 0 stars I would. Biggest complaints: It doesnt matter what soap, what setting or how much your rinse/scrape your dishes THIS DISHWASHER WILL NOT CLEAN THEM. Its very rare it actually cleans a dish or utensil properly. If your plate had ketchup on it, it wont clean it. But if you had a sandwich on the plate and managed to not get ANYTHING from your sandwich on the plate, it would come out clean. The drain constantly clogs. We rinse everything, but the drain hose constantly clogs to the point the unit wont drain. Have to remove the unit, take off hoses and blow them out. It clogs because the strainer at the bottom of the dishwasher which is supposed to stop stuff from going down the drain hose doesnt work. If you look at the strainer and the system they use to stop stuff from going down the drain hose. Its no surprise it doesnt work. By design it cant work. My brother in law is a licensed appliance repair man. Sears actually paid for his schooling. He installed and hes fixed the clogged drain numerous times. He agrees. Worst dishwasher ever.
Our machine was bought via the employee purchase program. Its just under 2 years old and the bearing has been out for nearly 6 months. I called Whirlpool and our local Whirlpool repairman. They both want hundreds of dollars to repair it. Being pretty handy, my husband and I decided to fix it ourselves. Trying to find compatible parts for this model is a NIGHTMARE. Everything in my house is Whirlpool...range, dishwasher (also junk), microwave, fridge, washer, dryer...and it will all be systematically replaced with ANYTHING BUT WHIRLPOOL OR ITS COUNTERPARTS.
Purchased a Whirlpool range. Shopped around for several weeks before I found what I thought was a good price and with a rebate! Ive owned the stove for 2 months and 7 days... guess what? The stove broke. The burners popped. I called to have it serviced and remember that it had a rebate. I never received any paperwork on the rebate but figured its Whirlpool, good company. Wrong... its not that I didnt have the rebate paperwork but the rebate has expired... even though I didnt get any paperwork nor was there any mentioned of a time frame. Dont get me wrong if it had been 1 year or even 6 months... really 2 months!!! So not only did I not get the rebate of $100.00 I have a broken stove! So tired of being ripped off!
I purchased my range, model #WEG730H0DW0 in April 2016. I am extremely dissatisfied with the product and the Whirlpool service. I guess its comforting to know that Im not alone. Ive had two problems so far. The first is with the broiler that clicks on and off. It took several visits and a new electrical board for the service person and me to figure out that the door has to be closed to broil. Not sure about all of you but I am used to keeping the door cracked open to be able to keep an eye on the food being broiled. Apparently there is a thermostat at the front of the oven designed to keep the electrical controls from getting overheated or from melting so when the door is cracked open the heat from the broiler hits that thermostat and the broiler is shut off.The people at Whirlpool are awful and rude. I made so many calls and described the problem in so many ways and not one person knew about this newly placed thermostat or thought to ask about keeping the door closed. It took me and my service tech over an hour of troubleshooting on his SECOND visit to figure it out. He looked up the specs and we figured it out. I wonder how many new electrical boards have been replaced when the solution is as simple as keeping the door closed. A stupid design. Also having the same problems with the knobs. They turn so easily that twice I have smelled gas and realized one of the knobs was turned ever so slightly (before the clicking sound to ignite the stove). Then the third time could have been deadly. I had friends come pick me up and we stood in the kitchen for a bit before we left for the entire day. When we returned the whole house smelled of gas. Someone inadvertently must have brushed up against the stove and the knob turned. My dog, thankfully is still alive and so are we. THIS IS NOT ONLY A STUPID DESIGN BUT A POTENTIALLY DEADLY ONE!! I am forwarding this message directly to Whirlpool in the hopes of getting my money back. I am replacing the range immediately and will never purchase a Whirlpool product again!
Whirlpool oven aqua lift - This oven is the worst in the world. I cant even imagine cooking a turkey in it. After cooking a pizza it took four cleanings and a lot of scrubbing. Self cleaning --- not, you clean and clean and clean. I have had ovens that were not self cleaning and easier to clean than this. Do not buy. And Lowes is no help at all. Run as fast as you can.
My new ACCU-BAKE oven was not baking properly. Always uneven results. Finally called for service, just in time before the warranty expired. The service rep informed me that I had not bought a convection oven. Well, duh! Of course, I knew that! He tested the temperature levels inside the oven and found a variance of 10 degrees Celsius, which he reported by phone to the company. He advised me to reach into the oven half-way through any baking process to turn my cake around, and it would bake evenly. I asked him if he had ever tried that himself. No, he said, he was not a baker. That was the end of the service call. No follow-up, no service. Today I learned that the company actually has this exchange in its records, but if I want to get the oven to work properly Ill have to pay for service, as the warranty has expired. I wonder what would happen if I ever tried the self-clean or Sabbath mode features on this oven.
I had an upscale Frigidaire suite of kitchen appliances and I loved them. A few years later I moved and needed a new set. I thought Whirlpool was about the same and I bought a Whirlpool set. The stove wont boil water or even fry an egg. It heats up and cuts off continuously. I called a service rep out and he called the engineer who told him it is designed like that and I need to use hot water on the stove to boil it. I was shocked at his ignorance and insulted by his stupidity. Ive been cooking for 60+ years and everyone who cooks knows you use cold water to boil water. But really, the stove does not cook anything. When frying eggs the burners cut off every few seconds to the point you cannot cook anything with it and the engineer said thats the way they designed it. DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL. THEY WONT EVEN BOIL WATER. HORRIBLE STOVE AND ONCE YOU HAVE IT YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT.
Whirlpool built-in electric oven self-cleaning (model # GBS307PRS01) has a problem with self-cleaning. Every time you use the self-cleaning feature, the thermal fuse switch and thermostat burn up. This has happened on the two occasions when the self cleaning feature was used. The only thing that Whirlpool will tell you is that there is no recall on that model.
I recently had the bake sensor go bad on my Control Panel of our Whirlpool Gold AccuBake Oven with microwave. Not a problem correct? WRONG! While the Whirlpool people were very professional in helping me (a shout out to them), the part I received was the wrong color. It was white; they called it a biscuit color. My oven is black. I have no idea what Whirlpool actually calls that color. Anyway, in my visit with them, I was informed the black control panel has been discontinued. Am I the only person that has a black control panel? This $280.00 part is now going to cost approximately $3,000.00 to replace the entire unit. Is there anyone that can direct me to where I can find a black replacement control panel? Way to take care of your customers Whirlpool. Solve this and I will give you a great shout out.
After the one-year warranty ran out, my wife ran the self-cleaning feature, which since Ive found is a well-documented problem in online forums. The oven overheats and blows out the thermostat, fuse and some other cylinder device, all in all a $600 repair. I am furious that both Whirlpool and Ikea (where we purchased the electric oven) keep completely silent on this issue, not bothering to tell homeowners to use this function at their own risk. Just wipe it out! The well known nature of this self-destruction and potential high cost of repair should be information given to consumers, but of course this would affect their sales numbers. BE WARNED!
Got the dreaded 4 flashes LED status - High Temperature Shutdown. Online and vendor documentation says that this condition requires gas valve unit replacement, a $115 option. If your Pilot remains burning, but main burner does not kick in, then a good guess is the circuit board requires a reset. Prior to any further work, test the Thermopile, that is the round item with two blades located below and to the right of the gas valve unit. Move knob on control panel to OFF1) Pull out plug with red and white wires located on front of gas control. 2) Have someone Hold in the control knob on the unit at Pilot, and make sure Pilot flame is burning. 3) Using a multi-meter, set it to millivolt reading, and test voltage across the two wires. Voltage should be greater than 350mV, preferably >500mV. 4) If you get a reading in that range, your Thermopile is good. Turn knob to off position. Do NOT uncouple gas lines. 5) Piezo Igniter wire comes apart, disconnect it. 6) Remove screw that holds front cover. (screw located bottom left as you look at the unit) 7)Cover simply pulls off directly towards you. 8)Remove the screw holding the circuit board to the cover, and remove circuit board by unclipping it - 3 clips, one either side and one at bottom. 9) Unplug the 3 strand thermostat cable, you should now have the circuit board clear. 10) Take a piece of aluminum foil, fold it twice, then lay circuit board on it facing up, do it on top of tank, want it grounded. 11)Using one of the multimeter probes, wrap a piece of foil around it, keeping point free, and ground it too. Then slowly work around the board, touching all the solder connections you see, as well as the chip legs. Pay particular attention to the round objects on the board (capacitors), make sure to ground out each of the solder points, visible either side. (takes about 5- 8 minutes, take your time) 12) Once done, reconnect thermostat cable to board, then reinstall board into cover (dont forget the screw)13) Place cover back into place, screw in cover screw, reattach Piezo wire and black electrical plug with thermopile wires. 14) set Knob to Pilot, get pilot lit (may take a few hits on the Piezo button) and while still holding the knob in, watch to see what LED flashes you get (there will be a 10 second time lapse before it will start to flash) 15) You should either get 1 flash or 7 flashes, that means the board is reset, now turn knob to warm, and see if main burner kicks in. Good luck, and for a half hours work you have saved yourself $$$. PS: If it occurs again, you have sediment build up, need to drain the tank.
I purchased a Whirlpool gas top range from Lowes in Somerset Ky September 2013. Model number WFG524SLAB1. The surface is showing bubbles. I contacted Whirlpool and they gave some kind of story. In other words I am stuck with it. Still under warranty but they wont send someone out to look at it. Lowes told us that it could be a paint defect when it was made. If the top starts peeling, it will be a real mess. I have never used anything abrasive on the stove top. As of right now I am not happy with Whirlpool at all and if they dont do something about this, I will never buy another one of their appliances.
We purchased a Whirlpool 5 top burner gas range in 2008. The oven stopped working. It would click 2-3 times, heat to 100 degrees then stop. Luckily, the range was still in the 1 year warranty. WP sent a tech out who eventually deemed it non-repairable. WP replaced the range. We were sent a letter offering an extended warranty plan May/June 2012. We took advantage considering our troubles with the first range. In October 2012, we noticed the oven started the same problem (2-3 clicks and would not ignite). In addition, the top burner clicks on its own to the point to having to unplug it. Since then, we have not plugged it back in for we feel it’s not safe! We have been working with WP Extended Service Plan (ESP). The obligor is the Federal Warranty Service Corp. for 2 months, ruining our Thanksgiving and now a few weeks till Christmas, our family is still without a range/oven. The ESP claims the damage is from chewed wiring from rodents. We live near fields that have just been cut; mice are coming into our home. However, when the tech came out, finally, he claims there are no chewed wires and the part he has to fix the oven is not worth putting in and will contact the ESP claims department to deem the range/oven non-repairable. This is the second range/oven - its doing the exact same problem as the first but ESP refuses to help us. The last supervisor would not do anything. We requested his ID# and he hung up on us. I contacted WP directly and waiting to if they can help.
Hi Folks, so today I had the pleasure to speak to Whirlpool regarding a repair bill on our washing machine which now has a bearing failure and estimate to repair was 1279.00. Its 6.5 Yrs old, just out of extended warranty and cost me with the pedestal a total of 1250.00 when new. I explained that in the 6.5 since I have lived at this house where we spend all new Whirlpool Gold Appliances, half have now failed. Range Microwave, Dishwasher and now the 1250.00 front loader is dying a slow and agonizing death with a bearing failure. Just so everyone understands, the estimate is from an official Whirlpool repair service that was booked through the Whirlpool website. Other repair folks just would not bother to look at it when I told them I believe the bearing was going bad.The repair man that arrived was professional and on time. However, I had a hard time understanding how a 6.5 Yr old washing machine would be considered beyond economical repair by costing 1279.00 to repair. Labor was 250.00 which I thought was fair. Time, etc. But parts made up the difference in cost. So later in the day, I spoke to Whirlpool and they offered the equal new washer for what would seem an excellent price. About half off. Wow, I thought that sounded good. So I asked if my existing pedestal would work with the new washer and it did not and I would have to pay for one. Regardless if my old one was fine or not.So, they offered a discounted rate from new at another half off. Total approx 800.00. So, I asked the Whirlpool rep to hold on and I need to check with my wife if she wants the replacement. She uses it as much as I do and wanted her thoughts. She checked the model on the washer and pedestal and with the local Home improvement store, they have it on sale for both units (washer and pedestal) and its about 50.00 less?Consequently, I called Whirlpool back and explained that it does not move the needle to regain my trust as compensation on a 6 yr bearing failure, failed dishwasher and range microwave they offer what a distributor of their product can offer for less as a package? Really? I mean, the Home improvement store is not in the business to lose money. Now, I am having a hard time understanding my own failure to have trust in a brand I used to have with my previous house. My mom had an old Whirlpool washing machine that lasted 25 years before she and my dad gave it away. You know, the old white top loader they used to make back in the 70s. Sheet metal, made a racket and never broke? Oh yeah got the clothes clean too! I dont know what to make of it anymore. So, I will just wait till it dies and take my hard earned money and spend it on another brand in my next house which we are going to move to soon. Maybe I can feel nostalgic and find my moms old washer. Its probably washing someones rags right now and getting them clean. It must be 35 yrs old by now.I dont expect to get anything for free. Its out of warranty, so I need to deal with the consequences, but there are steps the other party can take to help remedy the situation. I think they tried and it was genuine but in my thoughts its just not enough when your local box store is offering the same. When you develop a brand to extend a message of trust in quality and value, you need to have quality and value all the time. I suggested they help with the costs on the parts. I would certainly pay for the labor. Parts cost little to the manufacturer. Unable to help that way. I thought it was cheaper for them too. Guess not. Its come to be a throw away washing machine at 6.5 yrs and I am Infinitely disappointed. I just want my washing machine to work as well as my mothers old one and have the possibility to fix once in a while when needed.
Within six months, the plastic surrounding the oven and the plastic handle began began to crack. Company was of no help. Also, the screen says to change filter, even after you put in a new filter. Extremely disappointed.
The first day I set foot in IKEA changed my life, innovative and sensible and affordable. Some years later I had the opportunity to remodel a kitchen and I immediately thought of IKEA. I used their online planner, researched the appliances and knew that they were made by Whirlpool and that they offered a kitchen package discount if I bought 3 or more appliances with all the cabinetry. So I hurriedly designed the entire kitchen from top to bottom with IKEA.Included in the design was my center piece, my 5 burner Praktfull Pro Gas/Convection oven range with stainless steel backsplash and top of the line hood fan, basically a thing of beauty! I loved it and I visited the store several times to look at it. I finally bought everything, and installed it. Absolutely the most beautiful kitchen in the world. We have a historic building and were on several historic tours, interviewed for the newspaper, our kitchen was the highlight of the tour. My gas range drew oooos and awwws. The range is an exceptional appliance, beautiful and amazingly efficient, easy to clean…I was in love. Then one day it happened, the love affair was quickly over, devastatingly over. The door fell off the oven and the hinge broke! Yes you heard me right, it fell off, but that is not the worst part. It appears that not only are there no parts to fix it… there IS no fix for it, period. The door fell off because it had been glued on!!! Yes glued on. Whirlpool and IKEA had actually manufactured an appliance that failed in less than 4 years of use and no apparent intention to ever provide service or parts for it. This is criminal and they should be fined for their neglect of the customer, their calculated malfeasance and fraud to the customer. So my beautiful kitchen has a big black angry cavity in it and now I must try to find a new range that will fit in the opening left by this piece of junk and also pay probably over $2,000 to $4,000 for it. Most of all I am heart broken, mad and distrustful of anything IKEA in the future. Oh and by the way, my entire house is IKEA, my living room, my patio, my bedroom (s), my library, my office! Ive spent thousands and thousands of dollars at IKEA. No more! THE FINAL INSULT: Ironically…. my kitchen was featured on the IKEA website!!!
I purchased a Whirlpool classic range model number rf263LXTS0 on January 2010. We had some hang-ups on the kitchen renovation and were not able to install the appliances until May of 2011.I used the cooktop that evening and was very pleased. I then went to use the oven 2 weeks later and it did not heat up. I asked the contractor to check things out (maybe it was something minor that he could fix). He checked the things that he installed and everything on his end was working fine, so he told me to call Whirlpool.A service technician came out and, within 10 minutes, said that the oven controls were defective.I paid $450.00 for the oven originally. The service technician charged me $136.74 for 10 minutes to tell me that the oven control needed to be replaced (that is the major part of the oven) and that it would cost me $318.41 to replace the part.I called Whirlpool and explained my circumstance and Paula, the supervisor from Tennessee, said that there was nothing she could do. I told her that even if I installed the oven back in January of 2010, the major part of the oven should last more than 1 and 1/2 years. What terrible craftsmanship and crappy customer service. It is sad that customer service cant stand by their product and Whirlpool has to rely on making their money on repairing defectives products. I now have to go out and buy a new oven. I also buy a lot of appliances in my business and I will never buy a Whirlpool again.
We ordered the Whirlpool 6.4 CuFt Electric Slide-in Range WEE745HOFS from Costco on 1/3/2017. It was delivered 2 weeks later. The FIRST time we turned on the oven the top heating element caught fire during the preheat and damaged the interior of the oven! The interior paint was completely burned off above the fire, exposing the raw metal. Costco called Whirlpool for us to ask for a replacement oven. Whirlpool refused. We called too. Whirlpool sent out a repairman who replaced the element and PAINTED the damage on the top of the interior. For weeks, every time we turned on the oven, the house filled with smokey paint fumes. I have a chronic lung disease (sarcoidosis) so the paint fumes were a serious problem. We stopped using the oven. Weve hardly used the oven since that time because we have a nice, large countertop oven. I turned on the Whirlpool oven again in January of 2018. The top element burned out AGAIN after less than a dozen uses! I was 2-3 days past the purchase date and again Costco tried to advocate for us but Whirlpool refused to help in any way.My next door neighbor purchased this exact oven two months before we did and she has had the SAME problems (and worse!) with NO help from Whirlpool! I have HATED this oven even though we mostly use the cooktop. A $1300 oven should NOT burn up an element in less than a dozen uses! The cooktop is very difficult to clean, scratches and stains easily. The trim and panel also scratch very easily. Yes, I did purchase the Whirlpool cleaning kit and follow all directions carefully. My next door neighbor says dont bother trying the Whirlpool Aqualift cleaning feature because it DOESNT WORK! She hates this oven too. By the way, ALL of my appliances are new Whirlpool appliances! So far the dishwasher is doing ok but the microwave is 4 months old and the door is not closing completely, so it has to be adjusted often or it clicks rather than cooking. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN WHIRLPOOL!
I bought a Whirlpool 5-burner gas range with double oven at a cost of $1700. Almost immediately, the finish above the oven started cracking and now is starting to chip off. When I contacted them, they stated cosmetics were only good for 30 days. We had just moved and were getting settled so we didnt use the range much for the first 30 days. I am very unhappy with this product and also unhappy with Sears for their lack of effort.
I am writing due to the defects and flaws in my recently purchased appliances. I chose Whirlpool believing I was buying the highest quality for longevity purposes. Every appliance I own is Whirlpool or Maytag - same company. I purchased warranties and was told the warranties dont cover my issues and was basically brushed off. I am infuriated. Here is a list of complaints. Refrigerator is cracking on the inside on the inner door and at the bottom. These cracks surfaced within the first year of purchase. The warranty does not cover cracks in the inner body. The oven/range has an exhaust that bellows out of the top of the range in a way that the smoke curls up onto the panel and discolors it. I have never had an oven constructed with an exhaust pipe in the front that pours smoke onto the range itself and into your house. The dishwasher paint has rusted off on the door as have the screws on the inside of the door. The cover panel on the cleaning dispenser of the washer has popped off and cannot be popped back on, hence the guts of the dispenser are always visible and when I go to load the cleansers the front has to pulled out from inside the dispense. The refrigerator is also leaking from the bottom and the ice-maker no longer produces ice. This started off and on for the past 2 years. At first I thought the leak was from a near by window. No it is the refrigerator. All of these appliances were purchased in 2013, 14 and 15. New. I am 56. I have never had issues like this ever in my life growing up or as an adult. Appliances lasted forever. I am one person. How much damage could I do? None. These are flaws in chemical compounding of the paints and materials for cracks and rust. Whirlpool was called various times and was not interested in sending a rep to verify my claims. They said all of my warranties did not cover such issues only motors. Lots of many spent in vain. I will not purchase Whirlpool again as they seem disinterested in customer satisfaction.
First, let me say we are so lucky and blessed to get home in time to prevent my home from burning. My Whirlpool range, model 4rf364pxk0, apparently decided to turn itself on (no one home) and grew hotter and hotter. It obviously burned out the thermostat because it was way hotter than cleaning mode. The key pad was melted and sagging inward the control panel warped, heat pouring from it. The racks and interior were glowing orange! My back splash tile blackened and cracked! The oven door locked! Oven hood ruined although it probably saved my cabinets! We hit the breaker! There was so much heat you could feel it on the outside of the exterior wall of the house 30 minutes later! The clean up to my kitchen has been horrible. Black soot and strange greasy film on everything and the stench has been toxic enough to give my husband a raw throat and myself a migraine! Oh and here is the ironic part - my husband was bringing me home from a hospital stay from high blood pressure! It would be almost comic if it wasnt so darn scary! Please, please address this issue before a more tragic story is posted! From looking at this site, it is obvious that there have been other incidence of your stoves turning themselves on and uncontrolled heat. I firmly believe another few minutes and our home would have been engulfed in flames. Now I will spend my weekend shopping for a new ceramic range, hood and tile!
Bought dishwasher and a gas range about a year ago. Had to call the repairman twice on our dishwasher and three times on our gas range. Now it is little over a year and I am out of warranty. I paid extra and thought I was buying products of a good brand. I should have bought products from one of the cheaper brands along with the extended warranty.
We had our microwave and stove delivered in October, 2015. We had 4 deliveries of the microwave. The first two were damaged, the third needed a new fan motor and the door was not straight. They wanted to send parts to fix but we could not see spending all that money for a brand new microwave to have parts put in. I complained a lot to both Whirlpool who would not replace it and ABC Warehouse who finally agreed to replace it with a brand new one. The 4th is good. (so far). Our stove has a flaw in the glass top, the drawer doesnt close properly, and there is a piece of metal sticking out from the lower right side of the oven door. ABC says they cannot do anything about it and Whirlpool says it is under a parts warranty so it has to be repaired. I even spoke to supervisor Kimberly at Whirlpool. Got same answer. We are very angry and disappointed. As I told the Kimberly, Whirlpool got every penny they asked for. We paid for brand new in perfect condition and got a stove that needs fixing. We will never recommend Whirlpool as a Company for appliances and based on all the negative reviews Ive read, neither will a lot of other people.
We had the same thing happen. We purchased a brand new home and within 6mo the plastic around the handle started breaking off and pieces would fall into any food that was being cooked on the stove. Whirlpool fixed it for free but now the same thing is happening with the new door.
I have had my Whirlpool stove for over 30 years and use it daily. Still a great stove. I would not trade this stove or any of the new types. I just need to get the self cleaner repaired. The only problem I have is finding parts to fit this older stove.
I had purchased a washing machine trough CSD canteen and go for AMC for five years on September 25, 2006. In September 2010, I lodged a complaint and the Engineer visited and asked for a replacement of the bottom cover. I said okay, but later on he told me that I have to replace the complete outer cover. I agreed and asked them to replace it. The cost is fixed for 2,500Rs. They replaced the cover but did not replace the bottom cover.I talked to the agency and they agreed to hold to 1,000Rs for the bottom cover and I paid to them 1,500Rs. Later they brought an old cover and I refused to replace that. They told that the bottom cover is not available. Then they never tried to replace the bottom cover. I arranged for the same from the local marketing for 600Rs and replaced it. I paid the service charge for the engineer.Later, I lodged a complaint that the machine was not drying the cloth. The engineer visited and told me that the belt will be replaced on payment. I agreed and he told me that I will visit the next day and replaced the belt. But he did not come until it was late.On September 18, 2011, with number DL0911018283, my machine was not switching on and I lodged a complaint to customer care. But no engineer visited me. Then I regularly complained but there was no response from the agency. On September 23, I talked to customer care, Mr. **, that I am going out of station and I lodged a complaint from the last five days that no engineer visited me. My AMC is expiring on September 25, 2011. I will come back on October and then send the engineer. On October 9, I reminded them that they refresh my complaint with number DL1011007031. The engineer visited and told me that the PCB of the machine is faulty and I have to pay 3,500Rs.I told him that I complained for this problem during the AMC period, hence they are supposed to repair my machine free of cost but he refused. I talked to customer care and tried to resolve the issue but I was not successful. Then I talked to Mr. **, the head of Customer care in Delhi, on October 12. He promised to resolve the issue but no engineer visited me and my machine is still defective. On October 13, I tried to contact Mr. ** several times but he or his PA is not picking up the phone. Now, how will I get to repair my machine?
Bought a Whirlpool Gas Range model WFG530S0ES0 in Nov 2015. Eleven months into owning it the oven wouldnt heat up. Turns out the motherboard and wiring harness needed replaced. Since it was within a year of purchase, parts and labor were covered. Dec 2018 the same darn thing happened. I called Whirlpool and they basically said, Tough luck, lady. Was I surprised, not in the least. I talked to a supervisor who said that they dont have a single complaint on their Gas Ranges. Did I believe that, not in the least. Whirlpool finally agreed to pay for the parts but not the labor. Whirlpool supervisor said that equipment failure occurs. I said theres a difference between reasonable equipment failure and unreasonable equipment failure. For a 3 year old Whirlpool gas range to failure twice, with the same problem, is unreasonable failure. The supervisor said in such a pleasant voice, Basically too bad for you. Oh and have a Merry Christmas.
You Have Been Warned! Do Not Buy A Whirlpool. We bought this Whirlpool washer from Lowes. It is a top loader without the agitator in it. The sales pitch was very good. One of the best washers on the market. It was less than 1 year old when it started getting out of balance. We would stop it and rearrange the clothes and start it back up. Over a few months it just got worse. Now, it will scare you when it gets out of balance. You cant set within 5 of it or it will run you over when it jumps, but you have to set close enough monitoring it or it will run out the door of the utility room after you. Now, I find out the Maytag has bought Whirlpool Corp. Not a good move for them. Whirlpool has mess its own name up, why would Maytag want any part of it? I dont think I will trust Maytag anymore either for fear it may be a Whirlpool.
I am not pleased with my self-cleaning oven. I dont even use my oven that often and I cannot get off even the simplest of stains on the sides, top, and bottom. I have tried to clean the oven three times and the stains from pie drippings are still not coming clean. It should not be this hard to clean an oven because my last oven was so much better and it was not Aqualift. The top of the oven is also very hard to keep the burners clean and looking like new. I am very disappointed in this oven and believe that this is false advertisement to the consumers. I pride myself in keeping my kitchen looking clean but this just is not working for me!
I have owned an Accubake gas range since April 2012. The range is 3 months out of warranty, and the oven will not light... just a clicking sound and gas pouring into the oven. I have also had problems with the burners being turned on by brushing against against the knobs. I have a note by the stove to remind myself to check that the knobs are in the OFF position. My 1 year old grandson turned the burner on just by touching the knob... NO SAFETY FEATURES!!! I havent checked to see what a repair is going to cost me, but if it is several hundred dollars, I will just replace this piece of junk. It is very sad that a costly brand new appliance only comes with a one year warranty. I will never ever buy another Whirlpool appliance!!
I bought a 3 burner glass hob under your built-in cooktop category (model no. AKCG 930-90 cm) in Nov. 2015 from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In the month of April 2015 I started having problems with the medium burner. The problems was rectified on 29-4-2017 after some replacements that cost me Rs. 5000. After two months again the same problem occurred, the medium burner was not igniting again, I registered a complaint on 5-7-2017, the representative came and did some maintenance and left but the same problem resurfaced after a few days.I was fed up of complaining and started using the burner during necessity by placing a weight on top of the knob. Finally on 15th Feb 2018 while I was using the stove the glass top cracked into pieces. My experience of the companys built-in cooktop is horrible and bitter. Every time I registered a complaint the representatives used to attend the complaint after 2 weeks and that too after so many phone calls. I am really dissatisfied with the service and quality of the product. I therefore strongly recommend customers not to buy this product.
We bought Whirlpool Gold Series on July 6, 2014. Refrigerator, range, microwave & dishwasher. Our refrigerator - we have the repair company out almost every month cause the icemaker was constantly icing up and wasnt making the ice cubes single, would come out all attached to each other. So after arguing with Lowes and Whirlpool we were able to get a different refrigerator in February of 2015. Now in April 2015 we are having trouble with our microwave with the light flickering off and on when we open the door and sometimes it work and sometimes it doesnt. The repair company has been out 3 times for the same problem telling me that where the door closes are 2 latches that when not lined up cause this issue, so the repair company replaced the 2 latches and a month later it started happening again. So they came out and replaced the light socket. Now we will see how long that last. Now for the range which is the AquaLift Self-Cleaning which doesnt clean the oven at all. It was like I was back in the early 1950s, only worse. The baked on grease spots, you cannot get off at all. To me this is false advertising and the stores personnel lied to about all you have to do is pour 2 cups of water in the bottom of the oven, press the self-cleaning button and after 40 minutes of cleaning and letting the oven cool a bit you just have to wipe the oven down with a damp cloth and the oven is clean. Not so much!!!Wish I had all my old appliances back because they were made to work correctly. The new appliances suck for the amount of money you pay for them. So please beware and do research on the appliances you want to purchases otherwise you will get ripped off with no satisfaction for your hard earned money you spent on them. I have always had Whirlpool appliances and have loved them but these new ones we purchased are nothing but junk.
I bought the Whirlpool WTW 5000DW1 washer and dryer to go with it. Within the first 2 weeks the plastic handle broke on the dryer. Ive been using the corner of the plastic handle ever since to open the dryer. The washer is the worst washer I have ever purchased in my life. The tub doesnt fill up over the clothes half the time. It is perfectly balanced on the floor but it always bounces around and you cannot open it to rearrange the clothes because they lock the lid. The only option is to try to hold it and wait for it to finish or start over by pressing the button for at least 3 seconds. I have had a few items get shredded by it and a lot of times the clothes dont get cleaned and rinsed properly. Even on 2 rinse option. Just the fact that it has a 2 rinse option is a big red flag. It is supposed to be a energy saver and water saver but that isnt true. If you have to wash and rinse the clothes twice because it has spots from the detergent still on the sheets, something just isnt right. Whirlpool shouldnt even put a product like this on the market. I have owned many Whirlpool products before this but this is the last Whirlpool product I will ever buy. Obviously Whirlpool doesnt test its products or care about quality.
It shows handprints, smudges, the door swings open and slams into stove. I did purchase extended warranty which I intend to pursue, not enough space, door issue, junk. Dissatisfied, dislike, low quality - that should say enough.
Paid between $800.00 and $1,000 (cant recall exactly) three years ago and the oven locked recently while cooking a pizza. Couldnt get the lock to disengage and the oven turned on self-clean mode without me doing anything. The pizza burned crispy before I finally got the door open. The failure code for the control panel showed up. I didnt buy the extended warranty because we only needed it to last 5 - 6 years until we do a full kitchen remodel and the really inexpensive (~ $250) oven that was installed by the previous owners to sell the house lasted six years with no trouble. Now we have to pay $391.00 to repair what I consider a brand new oven. In doing some research it looks like the control panel fail is common and is associated with using the self clean mode which we only used once. Great oven if you only need one for a few years and are willing to pay the price.
Whirlpool Gold Convection Oven - I bought this new oven, cleaned it once. The bottom cracked where the spills had been. Since Id had it only two months, repair tried to say it was only cosmetic but had to replace it. Next time I cleaned the oven for multiple spills, (a year later) it cracked again, giving the bottom a shattered look where the spills were. I only cleaned it once and the bottom is ruined. I dont expect Whirlpool to stand behind this, but I agree these Convection Ovens require a Class Action Suit because they are selling faulty merchandise. Period.
Stove was purchased in June, 2021. Two months later, oven will not heat up!!! Contacts Whirlpool, and TEN days later, a service person finally shows up. Problem appears to be a circuit board that they dont have, and has to be ordered! When will it arrive? He has no idea!!! I called Whirlpool, but its frustrating and a waste of time. You only get to talk to someone that appears to be reading from a script! If were lucky, well be without an oven for one month; however, it could be two...or three...or four!!! My advice: Dont buy this stove/range!!! Not only is the oven an issue, but it just seems flimsy and subpar quality, especially the oven door. Added to that, the glass top is very difficult to keep clean... Worse than any glass top stove weve had in the past.
I purchased a Whirlpool electric stove WFE540HOES 3 weeks ago from Best Buy. 2 Main complaints: Extended cooking time when using the oven. Food that should bake in 14 minutes was taking 25. Food that should bake in 30 minutes was taking 50, etc. The big issue was that the exterior of the stove was getting extremely HOT when using the oven. The area behind the handle and the storage drawer were so hot I had to use a towel to open it w/o getting burned. Thought it was a faulty stove so I exchanged it for the same model. Just got the replacement and its worse than the 1st one! The heat permeates from the bottom of the door and heats up the storage drawer below. The area behind the handle and the enamel edge of the stove get so hot. Its definitely a safety hazard if not fire hazard. Anyone else experience this??? Its going back!
In 2012 we bought three new Whirlpool kitchen appliance back in 2012. The refrigerator has needed a drain pan replacement, and two air diffuser replacements. Of course, both air diffuser issues occurred just outside the one year warranty. Then the range oven has required two spark modulator replacements – again just outside the one year warranty. Whirlpool’s solution: buy another 1 year warranty to get it fixed; or buy a new Whirlpool appliance at a discounted price.
I would not give this any stars! I purchased a Whirlpool gas range (model #WFG371LVB1) just 2 years ago at Lowe’s. The oven heats up to 475 no matter what temperature it is set at. The Whirlpool authorized service agent said it needed a control board which would cost $650 to install. The repair company found one for less--only $300. After reading all of the other complaints about these ranges, weve decided not to repair it and will probably have to replace it soon. We have been Whirlpool customers for years and will not purchase another Whirlpool product. There should be a recall on any of their products that have these continual problems. The oven cannot be safely used for normal baking.
The oven works well. My complaint is that the glass door is very difficult to clean. Some kind of liquid got in between the panels and I cannot clean the glass without removing the oven door. Im afraid to remove the door as I may not be able to get it back on the oven. I have dirty glass I cant clean and that makes me unhappy. Otherwise the oven works just fine.
I have a Whirlpool double oven. When I attempted to use the self-clean feature according to manufacture instruction, the bottom oven stopped cleaning in the middle of the cycle. I had a repairman out and he replaced the thermal fuse in the back of the oven. It cost $85. I didnt attempt to clean it again for another few months since I dont use the bottom oven often. When I did attempt to use the self-clean feature according to manufacture instruction, the same thing happened. I called the repairman and he said that the thermal fuse would blow every time I tried to clean the oven, because of the way the oven was manufactured. I contacted Whirlpool and they were not at all helpful. I intend to contact them again.
The buttons that turns on the burners and oven turn on with a very light touch and start leaking gas and sometimes light. Its very dangerous and has done this since We got it new from Lowes. I wonder if there was a recall on this model or if lots of other customers have had the same trouble. Model #WFG524SLAS O Ser. # R20910336 We have had this stove about two years and My wife has kept after Me to report it , but I never realized how dangerous it really was until now. The previous stove We had you had to push in on the buttons and then turn them before they would light. Thank You.
Got a simple error code E6 F2 on the display of my oven (only 8 years old). Called Whirlpool to schedule a repair. They told me there were no available dates for one of their techs to fix my unit. They referred me to 3 outside companies that wanted to charge me over $100 just to come out and take a look. One of the phone numbers to the companies they referred me to was a wrong number. I asked them to tell me what the error code means and they said they couldnt tell me with any degree of accuracy. (What use is an error code, then??!!) I checked all over the internet and different websites say it might be a control board (over $300 for the part) issue. But several techs also said that it is a crap shoot and could also be a Temperature Sensor. I called back Whirlpool to see if they could get me a deal on the part. But, guess what? They dont sell it anymore...in fact they dont even sell their own parts at all!! And, they transferred me to some outside company that refused to even give me part numbers, to avoid me shopping for a better deal (which I did end up finding on Amazon after number 6 below). I called back Whirlpool and after getting transferred around to 2-3 different people and wasting about an hour I finally got someone who finally wanted to just give me whatever decent service they could and they finally got me the part numbers of the 2 different control boards (Main Control Unit and Sister board that controls the locking mechanism, $367 and $140 respectively). Now I am faced with paying an Appliance Repair person over $500 for what seems to me is a BIG FAT LEMON of an appliance due to the sheer number of unsatisfied people that are having the same issue, have had it fixed, and had the error just return again. THUS.... WHIRLPOOL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR PRODUCTS JUST SUCK!! AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! THE LEAST THEIR COMPANY COULD DO IS TRY TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT EXACERBATE IT BY GIVING SHADY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REFUSING TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
My double oven is only 6 years old - it stopped working on xmas day, had a repair man look at it. He has phoned Whirlpool and has not had his calls returned to buy the part needed. Why is this. I need my oven, why is Whirlpool making it so hard for me to have it repaired.
Purchased WP fridge, stove, and dishwasher at the same time. All were the gold series. At 20 months, freezer stopped cooling. WP would not cover the repair. Refrigerator has been noisy from day one. This company does not care about their customers.
I bought my Whirlpool induction stove several years ago. We normally use a toaster oven for baking as we are only 2 in our home. Last year I decided to cook a large turkey for the family. I threw the turkey into the oven and started cooking it. After an hour or so I decided to start cooking the potatoes etc on the stovetop portion. My potatoes started cooking and my element shut down. I did everything I could to get it going but finally resorted to the manual to see if there was a suggestion. The suggestion was that the oven had heated the burners too high and that I had to shut off the burners and wait for 5 minutes and try again to use them. The oven was only cooking at 300F. I waited 15 mins to get it running again. The stovetop went out once again and I had to stop cooking. Conversely Ive had the same issue with the oven. Ive been cooking in the oven and have had it shut down as a way to address the stovetop being too hot. How am I suppose to cook on this unit with any kind of confidence? I did an online chat with a rep today and they suggested getting a technician over to the house. I was told I could pay $129 to have them look at it. This is obviously a design flaw that I was never told about prior to my purchase and would never have bought had I known. Shame on Whirlpool!
It was in the house when we bought. I find location of knobs stove top, are too easily turned on. It is ok for now, but I am not a big fan of this stove. Builders buy a base grade appliances for profit in their spec homes to keep them. I will replace this one.
So disappointed with my Whirlpool purchase. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product in my life. This is my second whirlpool oven to die in a short period of time. My most recent oven only made it two years. For there to be an internal wiring issue that is now costing me $500 to repair on top of waiting 30 days for them to be able to fix the oven. This is a terrible product. Unfortunately, I didnt realize the poor quality and poor reviews prior to purchasing from this company. PLEASE be advised.
My mother purchased a Whirlpool gas stove. When the stove arrived the door didnt shut properly. We were told to contact Whirlpool. They sent a repair person out who said that you have to use the stove a few times first and then the door would close. Meanwhile, I had a 2-inch gap and gas and heat escaping. I called and requested another company to come out and check it. No one called back. I called again and they sent out the same repair guy. Apparently hes the only one in the whole Charlotte metro area that can service Whirlpool. Again he said I had to use it more. I called again and requested a different repair person to come out. They promised to send out a lead. When the company called to confirm the appointment they said no one told them that. They finally sent out a different person. That person said absolutely the door was dented. He offered to replace the door. He then came back and said the door comes in too many pieces and he didnt want to put it together so I should contact the store I bought it from and see if they would replace it. Whirlpool refused to repair it. I was able to get the store to replace it after explaining to them the problems with the warranty service. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they lied and said they tried to contact me which never happened. When I called the executive office I was told that I was the problem and that it was resolved so leave them alone. I regret my purchase of my appliances and now have no one to stand by the warranty.
Thirty minutes into running the oven self cleaning cycle for the first time, the middle pane of glass exploded! Weve had this range two years 4 months, and didnt buy the extended warranty. I contacted Whirlpool and they acted like this was the first theyve heard of this. I inquired on the class action law suit in New York from 2012, the year we bought ours, and they had no comment. They were willing to sell us an extended one year warranty and we pay for the service call for only $332! I declined and will never buy a Whirlpool product again.
Please DO NOT purchase an appliance with Whirlpool. I have had my double oven WiFi for 7 months. It has worked great. They did a update on it and I have had an hour glass for 2 1/2 weeks but the crazy part was they sent me a part, had it expedited 2 day shipping on a Friday and I didn’t get till Thursday of the next week. Go figure. So they send a new part and guess what? It’s broken and my oven doesn’t work once again. The other part is they have to wait for the code on the error 3-5 days. One we are going on week 3 with no oven and at this point I call and tell them my husband can run to Lowe’s and take a control panel off a new stove and put it on or better yet something is wrong with this oven. I need another oven because at this point I’m extremely pissed. Please DO NOT buy any products with this company. They SUCK!!!! They should replace it and pay me for all the meals I have had to buy.
I purchased a Whirlpool Gold from ABC Warehouse in Flint, MI, for $2099.00 before tax and it was delivered on 10/22/2010. Head-liner of inside of refrigerator has a crack about 3-3 1/4 inches long and the refrigerator is running more often. A repair tech came today, 10/14/2011, and did his job fine. He called Whirlpool and they stated to fix it with epoxy? The repair tech is ordering this. I called Whirlpool at 9:00 am right after the tech left at 1-800-253-1301 and spoke to Sherry. I explained everything to her in a very nice manner and she stated that according to the manual, they give us it is for repair only? I said, ok, could I please speak to her Supervisor and she said yes but it will be the same answer. I spoke to her supervisor, Lisa at 9:15 am, she came on talking about the problem and let me talk, I asked her on several occasions are you still there, and she said yes, her words were that Whirlpool only repairs nothing else for the year as per my paperwork (record). I said we dont even get this till after we purchase the item, I mentioned I had a Cabrio Washer and it was junk and had more service calls than any other machine I owned. I have a stove as well from Whirlpool it’s been good so far, I told her with service like this, and them knowing their liners are made of cost cutting saving materials as I have read enough complaints about this on the internet, that Whirlpool is eventually going under and so are the other small shops that do part work for them and their jobs will be outsourced to Japan, China, India and so on, I asked if there was another person higher up than her I could speak to and she said no, they’re not available at this time I snickered and said thats management for you. They have a customer service rep (call center complaints which is Sherry), then supervisor like you (Lisa) then some other management that dont want to talk to you. Way to go Whirlpool. I told her to document that I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance and I will definitely tell others and so on, and if we get enough folks to ban them they will leave USA or close and then Sherry and Lisa will be unemployed just like the rest of us in the good ole USA. Poor appliances for folks that can barely afford to make it and if you’re lucky and working like me and you buy something; shouldnt a refrigerator last more than this, and you stand behind your products? I also told her I know some are abused but this was not an abused product from me. It is a Whirlpool ‘cut your cost savings product’, and forgets the customer. Please look at the old appliances, I also mentioned I have an old Amana in my garage that is 17 years old runs great and never had a problem. And I gave her up for this piece of junk Whirlpool. I then told her I will write letters, emails and everything I can think of to ban this make and product. Model number of this refrigerator is GI7FVCXWBO, freezer on the bottom, fridge on top, side by side doors, solid black with ice maker. When I purchased this I bought it to last a long time as I had to finance it, and take from our monthly income. I had never had a nice fridge, but heck this is not nice. It’s a joke and the sad part is, I owe over $900.00 still and just got laid off. Thanks to the good ole USA and Michigan, but I will pay it off no matter what cause I pay my bills, and stand behind my name as a good person and citizen unlike Whirlpool. Boycott their products as they dont care about us or the American workforce. Oh, and this damage was not caused by abuse to the fridge - it was poor quality of materials in their products. Thank you for letting us complain about products! Also, it’s not like I can go out and buy another refrigerator as it took me over 18 years to get this one. Thanks WHIRPOOL for letting me down on another bad product but it will never happen again. Ive definitely learned and will teach others. Its just not fair that these big manufacturers can get away doing this to the poor people, maybe its like they say; corporate greed?
I purchased a home from Pulte and closed in June of 2020 and had no choice but to take Whirlpool appliances. Pulte does not offer high end appliances in order to maximize their profit. The first thing that failed after only 3 months was the Microwave and because we didnt want to get the same cheap microwave we upgraded and paid 400 for a Kitchen Aid, same size but never received the trim kit that matches the oven that came in sometime in October 2020. It is now January 2022 and we are still waiting for the trim kit. Every time we call to find out we spend hours on the phone. The refrigerator is a cheap version of the worst refrigerator made in China, the ice maker works ok but ice gets stuck in the chute and when it doesnt get stuck half goes to the glass and the other half to the floor. Poor design and we are stuck with it. Tried to buy an LG from Costco but it wont go through the door so again we are stuck with this small refrigerator with no room for groceries for two people. Stovetop is also cheap, only looks good the day we got the house, one of the burners would go off when turned to low with gas still flowing. Grates look 10 years old but must admit we cook every day. Oven will not calibrate and it is not accurate so we have learned to set everything 10 degrees higher to make up for the variance. Dishwasher had issues as well, unless you run it for 3 hours the shorter settings always have dishes or utensils still soiled. Warranties have expired after one year so it is now time to replace almost everything if we want decent appliances. Very disappointed but I blame Pulte for buying cheap.
