I bought my microwave on Dec. 8, 2010 and paid to have it installed. On June 29, 2011, the microwave quit heating anything up so I called Whirlpool. They sent a technician out and he repaired the magnetron. The tech said it was defective. I accepted that but then on Nov. 8, 2011, the microwave quit again, same problem. I called Whirlpool and told them I thought it was a lemon and wanted it replaced but they refused and said that they paid to have it fixed. They came out and fixed it. Same problem, the magnetron. Well, here we are another six months later, it has quit again. I have been on the phone with Whirlpool. I spoke to a lady named Barbara and she said even though its out of warranty, they would be willing to pay for the parts, not the labor. Of course, labor is more than the parts. So, I asked her whats going to happen another six months from here on. When it goes out again, she said that that was it. They werent paying for any more parts. I asked her for her supervisors number. She advised me to write a letter and someone would call me. Well, a lady named Donna did call and she told me the same thing. They would pay for parts but not labor and the offer was only good for 30 days. Also, I have the tech talk to their techs but she didnt have the number and maybe they could find the problem. Well, the problem is its defective. Thats all there is to it. We could fix it over and over again but its going to keep burning out. I told Donna surely I cant be the only one complaining about this microwave and her response was theres no recall on it. Something needs to happen. This cant be right. We spent hard-earned money on this product and shouldnt have such a problem every six months.

After 1 year, my fridges plastic interior wall/liner started cracking everywhere. One crack is right across the entire back wall; other smaller cracks are on the sides and back. Three fridge shelves literally fell apart: pieces fell off! The glue came undone on the sides of the shelf that hold the glass in. Pieces of the shelf itself were falling out of the fridge. The microwave door has plastic trim around the glass on the door, and it is cracking also. It seems that anything that was made Whirlpool and is plastic is cracking and/or disintegrating. Sears caulked the cracks in the fridge and is replacing the shelves, but nothing is being done about the microwave. Whirlpool said, Too bad. Go to Sears. We may have made the product, but Sears is responsible. And Sears is saying Too bad; weve done all we can.

We bought this microwave/hood combo at Home Depot and installed it in our second home roughly 16 months ago. We used it very little over that period because the home is only for vacations. The plastic handle began to disintegrate where it connects to the door (top and bottom) to the point where there is very little plastic remaining. We called the service center and the woman attending to us told us she had never heard of that happening before. Either she had just started working there that day, or she was lying because there are dozens of similar complaints on this very website.I do not understand what is to gain by denying a manufacturing defect. It simply makes no sense to me that a company would allow their reputation be so tarnished. What an ignorant and short-sighted business practice. I will never, ever buy another product from this company. I will also be sure to tell anyone who will listen what I think of the shabby service they gave us.

We bought all new appliances Stove, Frig., Microwave, and Washing machine. The washing machine does not get the clothes clean. Most of the time it either does not put enough water in to get the clothes wet or it will not spin. We had it less than six months and had to call for a repairman and to this day it is not any better. The Frig. we bought is noisy and makes a high pitch sound that sounds like a motorcycle taking off. We had everyone over at thanksgiving only to find out the ice maker had stopped working. The microwave does not heat very well at all and at times if you open the door before it has stopped it continues to run. Everything was purchased at the same time from Lowes about a year ago. I will never purchase another whirlpool appliance.

I had a full set of kitchen appliances delivered to me on December 11. The delivery crew installed everything but the microwave because we needed to have wiring done. Three days later an electrician came and upon opening the microwave box it was severely damaged. Whirlpool won’t replace it because I called one day outside their 48 hour window. They delivered me a damaged product – period. It should be replaced without question. Instead they want to send a “cosmetic tech” out to see if it can be fixed. I can’t imagine that’s a more cost-effective method for them. Completely unacceptable. I will never buy Whirlpool again based on their lack of customer service and common sense.

I purchased the Whirlpool Gold OTC microwave model #GMH6185XVQ on November 29, 2010, and it was installed on December 26, 2010. After 18 months, the Magnatron went out. Its just me and my husband, and we eat out most of the time. So, it wasnt used a lot. I called Whirlpool, and Sherrie could only say that she feels my frustration. No, she doesnt. She has no idea. I just purchased $4000 worth of Whirlpool appliances, and now, I have no idea if they are going to last. It is a piece of junk that I paid good money for. In this day and time, we have to watch what we spend. I think Whirlpool should be a stand-up company and admit to taking our hard-earned money for a piece of junk. Dont they realize that its going to hurt their business.

I would not, at this time, even really give this product 1 star, but that was the lowest rating allowable. We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door Refrigerator at Lowes a couple of years ago after our Amana was toasted by a close proximity lightning strike. (It got more than just our frig, but the replacement frig is the only item we have had issues with.) We even got the extended warranty thru Lowes for the unit. Shortly after the extended warranty expired we started having issues with the bottom freezer door icing up. We thought that possibly the grandkids had not shut the freezer. So we cleaned up the ice around the door, but the problem persisted. The ice cream in the freezer was rock solid, to get it out of the container you had to put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. The items in the frig were also frozen. So we emptied the frig and freezer, unplugged the unit and let it sit for a couple of days with the doors all open. We then plugged it back in and hoped for the best. It seemed to be ok for a couple of days then the ice on the freezer door appeared again. At this point, I contacted Whirlpool to see who was a licensed repair company in our area. I contacted the licensed repair service, explained my issue, they got the model and serial number info and ordered what parts could conceivably be the culprits. The tech came, the unit was frozen up, all the vents in the freezer were showing icing. So he removed the back of the freezer compartment and thawed the unit out. At the same time I mentioned that the ice maker had quit working, he found that the wiring connection was not properly connected and fixed that while he had all the stuff out. After re-assembly he ran all the diagnostic tests Whirlpool lists and found everything passed. Since the boxes of parts had not been opened they could all be returned to stock. So no charge for parts, as he could not find indication that any were needed. So 1 service call at $100 and it appeared that maybe the issue was resolved, not the case. Not even a month later, issue re-occurred. No grandkids had been there, no instance of the freezer possibly left ajar. Another service call, and by the time the tech arrived, since I had unplugged the unit and emptied it again, all the frost/ice was melted. $100 for a service call, tests all came back as nothing indicated as not functioning. So if I dont put too much stuff in the freezer or too much stuff in the frig it will run without freezing up for about a month. Oh and weekly put it into the defrost mode a couple of times. Now it has started making a tic-tic-tic or rat-tat-tat sound to the fun and games. If the noise is non-stop, it only stops when you open the freezer door. Leading me to believe it is a fan. (Correct, I was told by the local Whirlpool licensed repair facility.) I have spent the weekend, again thawing out my unit in hopes that the noise will cease. It is loud enough to be heard at the other end of the house. No such luck, so I spent an unproductive 1-1/2 hours on a call to Whirlpool yesterday. The larger part of the time was on hold waiting to talk with someone, anyone. Due to our unusually high call volume, wait-time is long today. Thank you for your patience. To retain your place in line, do not hang up. Finally, I got a rep named Karen, who sounded like she was almost asleep. She had very little to offer except, Im sorry you are experiencing these problems. I have no record of previous complaints like yours on record for this model of our product.Hello, I found 929 reports of the same issue on Consumer Reports. Oh, you cant believe what you read on the internet was her response to that tidbit. She offered to sell me a Repair Plus 1 Plan for only $359.95. A licensed repair service comes, repairs your unit and the plan gives you ONE YEAR of peace of mind. Lets see... I said... so you are offering me an extended one year warranty? Oh, but it comes with a repair first then one-year peace of mind. Seems that Whirlpool has moved into selling warranty extensions rather than fixing the issues with these Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerators. With what I have already paid for service calls added to this Repair plus 1 Plan, I would have invested $$$ enough to BUY A NEW FRIG that is not a Whirlpool product.Seems a bit foolish to me. So Whirlpool is not admitting that there is a design or manufacturing problem with these units. Even the ones sold just this year seem to have the same issue. They have not corrected this and it appears they have no intent to do anything about it. She did indicate that they had a known issue with the drain and that a fix was offered for that (a redesigned drain unit could be installed). But since I was not getting ice build up on the bottom of my freezer compartment I did not appear to need the redesigned drain unit. Her evaluation of my issue was that the drain did not appear to be a problem. So after a fruitless call to Whirlpool, oh and they did have my previous emails concerning my issues on file but did not consider my complaints to be part of a known issue, I have the local tech coming back to see if possibly there is something, anything to be done with this refrigerator. So another $100 at least, likely no resolution if the service tests all come up normal again! So when the tech comes, I am going to ask him to contact the service engineer that he is supposed to have the contact info for (per Karen at Whirlpool) and see if he can get any resolution to my issues by using that service engineer.

I earlier filed a complaint about the Whirlpool Gold microwave arcing within a minute of cooking frozen green beans and causing burn holes in the food. We contacted Whirlpool’s customer service and were told that the machine was no longer under warranty, but we could have it serviced, repaired and have an additional year of warranty for $259. We took a pass on that. Further trial and error along with research helped us come to the realization that the arcing was caused by the high mineral content of the green beans. Whirlpool did not tell us this, but we found the information provided by others. We no longer cook the particular brand of green beans which seem to cause this event. The microwave is no longer arcing. You would think Whirlpool might be aware of this.

We purchased our home brand new in June 2010 and with it came all Whirlpool appliances. We started having cosmetic problems with our over the counter microwave about 2 years later (model WMH2175XVS-2). The plastic casing around the door handle started to crack on the top and the bottom and now both pieces are completely gone as they fell off. The handle is still attached and the microwave is usable; however, it looks shoddy. To replace it, we were told by a Whirlpool authorized repair person that you would have to replace the whole door at a cost of $300 or more if you include labor. I am disappointed that this happened and that we cant get it repaired. It makes me think again about purchasing more Whirlpool appliances.

I had whirlpool microwave model # WMH32517AS-2 that came with my new home in March of 2013. In September of 2013, we noticed there were times that the microwave failed to warm the food or liquids (coffee) sometimes at all. Then we figured out that we could hear the noise it makes when it actually warms the food. So after a repair man came out and saw the issue of not warming up, he replaced many parts but within a day we experienced the same issue. Whirlpool had a different repair man come out and replace additional parts hoping it would fix the issue but unfortunately, it did not. Whirlpool said they would send another microwave to us in January of 2014 but now its April 2014 and nothing sent and I have a broken microwave in my house. Due to the length of time it has been, I had to submit this. We have also called customer service on 5 occasions (who have these call documented) and the person that was supposedly helping us and assigned to our case 7 times with no response. We have attempted to talk to a supervisor but were told that I could not, which is unusual. Its just frustrating that this is happening.

The 2 rear steel rack supports were flaming/sparking. I was told by Whirlpool over the phone that this might have been a recalled item, but they would send a technician to check. The technician said it was a build-up of grease and that I should not have used the rack and not to use the rack at all in the future. However, I do not use the microwave often enough to get a build-up of grease and it is cleaned thoroughly. This is a Whirlpool-manufactured product. Why would it be unsafe and why can I not ever use the rack again? If this was a hazard, why has it not been recalled? The technician removed the rack and sprayed a white substance on the support, and I was charged $138.03 for this and left with a partially, unusable appliance. I would like this to be replaced, so that I can use 100% of my microwave or be reimbursed for this expense. Please explain. Thank you.

I moved into an apartment in July 2010 after closing in May 2010. My microwave by Whirlpool stopped heating a few days after the one year warranty was over. This appliance was of April 2009 series. My builder doesnt take responsibility and Whirlpool asks for huge service visits and repair costs that leaves me with no choice but to replace, and that too with the same product. This will cost me about $600-700 including installation and warranty, etc. I strongly believe that consumers should be protected against such liabilities. I have to pay for the product, the removal of the faulty one, installation of the new one plus taxes, plus transportation etc., only because Whirlpool sold it and the builder bought it (they are also hand in hand with these suppliers and dont bother after occupancy). God save us from such eventualities and undesirable expenses which hurt. No one should buy such items.

Because a year had passed, they were not willing to do anything other than put us in touch with someone who could service the refrigerator. We already know the repair will cost over $200. I spoke to Sue in Tennessee that refused to let me speak to a supervisor regarding replacing a light bulb in my microwave. Sue insists that I can do this, despite no instructions in the owner’s manual and warnings all over about electrocution if I open the panel. Sue refused to assist me and is sending out a repairman. I will never do business with this company again, and I am angry that Sue refuses to see a problem with me paying $75 to replace a light bulb in a nearly new microwave. She continued to give me incorrect instructions on how to replace the bulb, and the owner’s manual does not have instructions nor do they exist on the internet. The owners are not supposed to dismantle this model, but Sue at Whirlpool Customer (no) service told me that I have to pay. Seriously? For a less than two year old microwave? Never again. I think I will take this unit out and get a GE.

Just like many other reviews about this brand - our microwave went bad after only 14 months of using it. Initially the door sensor would register - it wont operate even if the door is closed. Or it will keep going even if the door is open. I contacted BBB and the Whirlpool corporation regarding this safety issue. I pointed out that the safety mechanism is faulty and they should recall all of those models that have similar issue with door sensor. This is extremely dangerous for households with kids. There is a reason why this safety mechanism is mandatory in all microwaves! Whirlpool pointed out to me that I should not try to operate microwave with open door and refused to take any responsibility. Ive owned probably 10 different microwaves over the years and NEVER had micro go bad after only one year, yet alone have completely faulty safety mechanism. Consumer beware!

Our microwave is less than 8 months old, hardly used and only for heating items. Besides the point, being under a year old. It began to make noise and pop, spark sounds with the smell of burning wires and promptly stopped working. We called the customer service line and began the long frustrating circle of completely bizarre conversation. Maintaining our belief this is a fire hazard and not wanting it in our home they insist on a repair person coming after trying to sell us Extended warranty, Why would we want Extended warranty when the warranty is NO warranty, it seems, whatsoever. After requesting to speak to a supervisor 3 times. A overly bubbly person comes on the repeat same spiel and to make an appointment for 1 week away from 8am to 4pm to be available for a phone call to make an appointment to see about repair on said fire hazard microwave that is less than a year old. This appointment is made with repair place and they too are confused and noted Whirlpool said this is not covered under warranty, and they too would contact them.Today Whirlpool Canada calls and gives number to repair place to book appointment, Hello we already have one and the frustrating verbal dance continues. 5 minutes after this call the repair place calls, as whirlpool contacted them as well to book appointment, which we both could agree this is the bizarrest situation since we already have an appointment, from their appointment. We keep saying we feel unsafe, this is a fire hazard. Which they completely ignore. This is unacceptable and extremely poor service.

I purchased GMH6185XVS microwave in Dec. 2011. It was installed in January 2012. This was for a remodel kitchen with all Whirlpool appliances. In August 2014, we discovered the micro would not heat. I called Whirlpool as directed by Sears. I am told I have to call a repair service and pay for it. I have a 14 year old Whirlpool in my home. We have never had a problem with it. I had a Whirlpool micro in my previous home; never a problem. This is a second home that we hardly ever use. We are two adults. My daughter had the same problem with the same microwave. I am very upset with Sears as well as Whirlpool. Even if I used this machine everyday, it should not break in 2.5 years. Shame on both Whirlpool and Sears. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again. I will be telling everyone I know.

Microwave Hood Combination...moisture sensor failed...potato caught on fire. Service company Whirlpool sent failed to show (Whirlpool selected a repair shop over 100 miles away). 2nd service company told me sensor failed and they would return with new part (ignoring the fact the white microwave was not gray and black) in a few days. If I wanted a new microwave without the dust and ash, I had to call Whirlpool. Whirlpool is ALWAYS experiencing a high volume of calls.Whirlpool states 7 - 14 days (unit on back order of course) for the microwave will arrive. 21 days later..no microwave. More high volume of calls... Whirpool state a repair center has received the microwave on July 31st and should have called me. Said repair center has no record of this transaction. Whirlpool reps claim to have records of my claim...but... they keep asking did we tell you it had been handled? I say read my file... Customer rep says my file is hard to understand (i.e. it is long). But they assure me they are empowered to help me. Maybe they should look up that word.Today...it is not Whirlpool customer service fault! No... It is being handled by a Product Replacement Specialist... Sadly they cannot provide me with any contact info for that Specialist. Empowered but not informed! Lesson: Whirlpool dont buy or if you do... and it catches on fire...just buy a new one... They make it impossible to get a replacement.

Whirlpool microwave 1163XVS - I purchased a new home and a Whirlpool microwave in May 2010. The microwave has all of a sudden stopped heating! Turns on, spins, counts down, lights up, etc., but will not heat. Found this site by trying on my own to detect a possible reason and Im shocked to see these many complaints of the exact problem. Unbelievable, should be class action suit maybe for continuing to take money from consumers for defective product that Whirlpool knows about and appears to not take responsibility. Ive read enough, not even going to call for repair. Im buying another brand and spending more wisely this time. Thanks for the heads up. Shame on Whirlpool.

I purchased this microwave in September 2010. It was installed in a vacation home, so it has actually been used for less than one year. It has now stopped heating food for the fourth time. The previous problems miraculously fixed themselves after flipping the fuse for a few minutes. I guess I should have been suspicious at that point, but I figured maybe I had overheated something. But this time, the problem has not corrected itself. The Whirlpool representative that I spoke to, while very polite and personable, only scheduled a service call that will cost me $89.95 PLUS parts and labor. I asked her if other people had reported this same problem, since it had happened to me several times. She told me NO. I decided to do some research myself (yes, I know; I should have done this BEFORE I spent $578 on a worthless product) and found that many others have had the same problem, and that this is obviously a defect in the design of this unit. Unfortunately, I purchased the entire Whirlpool package because of a special rebate available at the time. Now, I am wondering if my other appliances will begin to break down in the near future. After reading about the experiences of others, I am calling to cancel the service visit. I will be removing the microwave from my kitchen and purchasing a new one. Whirlpool has lost a customer. I will NEVER purchase a Whirlpool product again.

Finally, the whole door came off. The warranty company finally agreed to replace the door. Less then a month after replacing the door, part of the handle cracked off. I initially purchased all new Whirlpool products as part of my new home purchase in a Pulte subdivision, June, 2011. My WP microwave failed to heat in 2012 and the replacement of the Magnetron and Inverter and service was covered under warranty (would have cost me $493.51). Sadly, the microwave again failed to heat in 2014. I was so disgusted with this second failure, I decided to live without a MW until January, 2016 when I paid for my second service call and learned, once again, I needed a replacement Magnetron and Inverter, to the tune of $400. Both servicemen told me the 2011 magnetron/ inverter mechanisms were new technology and did not last long. Again, sadly, when I contacted Whirlpool, they would not admit to their defective product line and indicated they could do nothing since I am out of warranty. It is unconscionable that a corporation is not liable for their defective products.

Bought in October 2014. Died December 2015. The previous Whirlpool microwave this unit replaced was 10 years old and carried a 5 year warranty on the magnetron. Imagine my dismay to find out this unit carried only a 1 year warranty on the magnetron. So 2 months past warranty expiration Im left with a dead unit. I performed elementary troubleshooting. The unit has a fuse on the 120 Volt input. But the unit must be disassembled to gain access to the fuse. So what SHOULD be a five minute job turned into an hour and a half. The fuse wasnt the problem - replacement fuses blew like popcorn. Fuse placement within the unit without regard for service considerations is a poor design. To their credit, Whirlpool agreed to cover the cost of repairs if I would pay for labor. I agreed. A tech came out and looked at the unit. He said that he would have to order a bunch of parts and that he would be back in contact by the end of the week. Three weeks went by. There was no call from the tech; my messages on his voicemail generated no response. So a couple of days later I purchased a replacement from a competing manufacturer.

I purchased a whirlpool gold series microwave model #WMH76718AS one and a half years ago, paid $500.00 for it. It stopped heating. Everything else works on it so it looks like I paid $500.00 for a digital clock and a fancy bread box! I went online and read complaint after complaint that the same thing happened to other people. It appears that the magnetron is faulty. I called Whirlpool and asked their service rep how she would feel if she bought a microwave and after 1 1/2 years it wasnt working. She told me that it was man made and that I should EXPECT things to go wrong. She did offer to pay for parts... which did surprise me. But I have to pay for a $45.00 service call and all labor that it costs to fix it. I called the number she gave me and got a answering machine.... still waiting for them to call me back. I most likely will just throw this Whirlpool piece of junk in the garbage where it belongs. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to repair a lemon. I feel that Whirlpool knows there is a problem with their product... that is why they offer to pay for parts. But why should their mistake cost their customers money on top of all the inconvenience. Whirlpool does not back their products or care about their customers after they get your money. I will Never buy a whirlpool product again and that includes anything from their sister companies Maytag, Kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Amana and there are many more. We purchased our unit (Microwave Hood Combination #WMH53520AH-1) in Fall of 2013 and within a year we noticed there were occasionally problems with the sensors; occasionally when you would open the door the lights would flicker and even rarer still, they wouldnt turn on at all. Id close and re-open the door several times to try to get it to register, because if it doesnt you are unable to heat anything in it. The sensor issue increased with the passage of time, but because it was outside of the 1 year warranty, Whirlpool refused to do anything about it, instead advising that I pay $70-140 for a service professional to come out and inspect it. The biggest problem with the sensor issue in this unit is that normally, if you open the door mid-heating cycle, the microwave will automatically turn off but once I opened the door AND IT CONTINUED TO EMIT MICROWAVES - the cycle stayed on!!!Needless to say, on the occasion that the microwave is actually working and we are heating something up in it, we NEVER open the door mid cycle and instead hit the cancel button, which blessedly works. You would think Whirlpool would care about their reputation for making high-quality electrical products. A flaw in the construction or design of a product can appear if quality of materials is poor and the problem can be exacerbated over time. Which is why I assume the warranty is only for one year. High Quality Products and Good Customer Service are such rare things these days. For our next microwave (which I imagine well need soon) I think well forego Whirlpool and go with a different company.

My wife and I have decided never to purchase Whirlpool products again.

As soon as we bought our new microwave, I saw what appeared to be hair on the door. I tried to scratch it off but I could not so I wondered if it was a crack but I could not feel it. As time went by, many other lines appeared but I could not feel them, just see them. After a couple of months, I noticed the first crack could be felt and then soon after that I could feel the other cracks. The first crack goes from the glass to the edge of the door and is wide open and the door edge kind of just hangs there. There are now about 20 cracks and the door will most likely fall apart soon. I called Whirlpool and they lied and said there have been no complaints at all about their doors. I read them some of the names here on this site having the same problem and the best they can do is offer to sell me a new door for $180. I told them that their product was defective and need to be recalled or something and he again tried to send me to the parts department to sell me a $180 door. I told him if that is how Whirlpool treats their customers, I would no longer buy anything from them.

Ive had it with Whirlpool products. I am now getting rid of my third Whirlpool microwave in just eight years. Every one of them had the same exact problem and Whirlpool continues to deny there is a manufacturing defect. Each of them developed a hairline crack extending through the bottom screw of the door handle to the glass on one side and the outside door frame on the other. They will do nothing about it and claim it is just a coincidence. No more Whirlpool ever!

The microwave was easy to install above the stove and it has the exhaust fan conveniently hidden out of site underneath it. The cost was very low and it is not complicated to set up and use. I also like the fact of not having countertop space taken up by having the microwave sitting on it.

The microwave keypad is worn down after 10 uses making it difficult to read the pad. I just discovered the microwave was missing the front leg and they do not have a replacement part so I am stuck with a virtually new microwave that will not balance. It took 4 phone calls to their customer service department to try and sort out the problem. Poor product and extremely weak customer service department.

There is a melted hole in my Whirlpool microwave. The model WMH53520CS is on the recall list for this but not my serial number. Other have posted this and theirs was not covered. This should never happen. I have never had a microwave do this. If I have to replace it I won’t buy Whirlpool ever again.

It is a really great microwave, but the door is falling off of it. We can still use it, but try to be careful about it. I honestly and truthfully love my whirlpool microwave as well as my whole set of whirl pool appliances. The door is trying to fall off, but we can still use the microwave. If we get another one we will probably get another whirlpool because I love it so much.

The door handle is cracking on my Whirlpool microwave. This is a poor experience with Sears. My original door was smoked up from a kitchen fire. I replaced the door and handle in June. My boyfriend does all the cooking, so I did not notice the handle until November. It is cracking on the side. We contacted Sears, and they said it was past the warranty. This problem is due to a defective product. I have seen several similar complaints online.

We purchased a new home in July of 2011 and we paid extra for the upgraded appliance package, which included a Whirlpool Microwave/Convection Hood Combination unit. We have Model # GH7208XRS3. We use the microwave a few times a week and only used the home 6 months each year during 2012, 2013 and 2014, for a total of approximately 18 months. From the very beginning, we had trouble with the microwave control panel turning itself on and the electronics going through various timing and programming functions independent of any human operator.During the combined two-year warranty period from July 2011 July 2013 (the Manufacturers Warranty lasted one year and the Developers extended Warranty lasted an additional year) we had 5 service calls on the same issue. The Authorized Repair Center repairman called the Whirlpool Tech Line while he was in our home and was told that there was a flaw in the design of this model. They replaced the door and then when it acted up again, they replaced the control panel. In Nov. 2012, after the repairman told us the door needed to be replaced again, we asked for a new appliance since we had the same issue repeatedly and they had already tried to fix it by replacing the door and it was still under warranty. We were told that Whirlpool would not replace the appliance until they had tried to fix it three times and we needed to get a new door again. We were told that because it was the same issue repeatedly, we would get a replacement if it still went bad after the warranty was up. So we had the door replaced again, which did not fix the problem. In late 2014, we again had the same issue with the control panel and made a call to Whirlpools Customer Experience Center. At that time, we were told that the warranty was no longer in effect and Whirlpool would do nothing to fix the issue. Even though it was the same issue that they had attempted and failed to fix while under warranty, the company would no longer stand behind the promise of customer satisfaction and told us they will not replace a 3-year-old microwave. When I asked the Customer Service Rep to speak to a Manager to escalate the issue, I was transferred to the Tennessee Office. When I got the same repeated run-around from the Supervisor, Melissa, I asked that Customer Service Supervisor to let me speak to a Manager and she told me she could not give me the name of anyone else to speak with and hung up on me.I am writing to you to express my extreme disappointment in Whirlpool and the products reliability, the way the company has handled fixing the problem and especially in the conduct of the Customer Service department. Whirlpool gave us nothing but a run-around for the years the warranty was in effect, knowing that this model has a design flaw and trying to do band-aid fixes until the warranty ran out. We were told that our only option now is to pay to have the same problem fixed a fourth time or purchase a new microwave.Whirlpool has trained their Customer Service people to be polite but ineffective and obstructionist on the phone and then hang up on the customer when they cannot resolve the customers issue. I believe that Whirlpool should be committed to customer satisfaction and making sure that their products work as intended and fix the problem that was reported while under warranty, even if it no longer in warranty. Whirlpool should be as disappointed as I am that after three attempts the problem is still not fixed and should be committed to customer satisfaction enough to replace the appliance after three failed attempts.

Ive had my Whirlpool refrigerator for 6 months and since then Ive had it serviced 7 TIMES! Im a person who works so every time my fridge breaks down I have to take time off from work to wait around on a tech. I just called Whirlpool to see if they can switch my fridge out and they said NO! All they can offer me is a $50 check and have a different company come out and check my fridge. Im SO UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED! I remember when I was a little girl my parents and grandparents would talk about how good Whirlpool was and I was so excited when I moved into my first brand new house 6 months ago. It had all brand new Whirlpool appliances but now I think they are a piece of crap because to top it all off my microwave broke down 3 months after I moved in and I waited over a month from the time I reported it to have the tech come out and replace it. I dont recommend ANYONE buy this brand!

We own a Whirlpool microwave hood combination. The door started cracking where the handle attaches. Ordered a new door and installed in July 2017. 18 months in the door and the handle have both started to crack again. This seems to be a problem with Whirlpool microwaves but they wont stand behind their product. Theyll send someone out to replace it for $$$$ but they wont admit they have a flawed product. One year warranty - no exceptions. Will have to replace the microwave and it wont be Whirlpool!

This microwave usually has great reviews but I think I just got a dud. I purchased this model (WMH53520CS-0) as part of my new home build. After 9 months the door sensor broke and anytime we would go to run the microwave, it would tell you to open/close the door. Whirlpool sent out a certified factory dealer to fix the problem. They found it to be a faulty control panel and replaced it. After that was replaced, the exhaust fan broke. Whirlpool sent out that dealer again with the new part, and everything was working perfectly. Flash forward a whole 24 hours later, and the microwave would make the loudest sound ever and shut off after 3 seconds and blow the fuse. Turns out the turntable motor had broke and the NEW control panel was already faulty. The turntable motor part was on back order for a month and I am still currently waiting for it to be shipped to me while I have a microwave shut off collecting dust. As most anyone would be, I was extremely frustrated knowing that Whirlpool has spent at least 4 times more sending out certified dealers and replacing parts, than if they were to just order me a new microwave. They stood firm on their policy even if it meant a customer without a working microwave for over a month. Whirlpool did offer me a nice $75 debit card that took 4 weeks to arrive to help pay for a temporary microwave, but they would not work with me when I asked for the warranty to be extended 3 or 6 months. I wanted that peace of mind and its frustrating that for 2 of my 12 month warranty, the microwave was completely broken.Overall, its a nice microwave when its working but with all I have had to go through, I wouldnt recommend this model nor any Whirlpool appliances...

Whirlpool Gold microwave quit heating after little use. We moved in house one year ago, microwave 6 years old. Spoke with Timena customer service rep. She took my model, serial info and clearly explained this model had defects and they would replace for free even though 1 year warranty was up. Delivery staff would call within 24 business hours. After 4 days I call back and get Mia rep, she claims I was disapproved for new unit after all?? I spoke to 2 supervisors above her Karin in Tennessee, and another. They claim I was mistaken??? I said, “Look up the recorded call and you will see the message is clear... They acted shifty and claimed I should buy a new starting at $1399!!! They would consider small discount?? Their rep was clear at first then they failed to back her up. Terrible customer service. Lied etc. Never buy Whirlpool!!! They are cheap and don’t stand behind reps. Awful company!!!
