This refrigerator stopped working withing 2 weeks of delivery. Lost a great amount of food. It was a real hassle to get the warranty company out. Took several days. Now there are places on each shelf in the refrigerator where food freezes and I have to throw it out. I am not real happy with this.
When you first get the washer it looks like it can get the job done. Its the brand name and you trust to get the best clean from the washer. After a couple of months I dont see them clean. It washes with a couple of shakes back and forth and when my clothes are ready they seem like they were dipped in water. Not clean. It has all these fancy buttons for all different types of cycles and loads and they all seem to wash the same. As a mother of 3 kids I want my kids to put on CLEAN clothes. Not clothes that look like they have just been dipped in the water with detergent. I feel a good on cleaning board and my hands do a lot more than these high priced washers.
Like many other reviews Ive read here this morning, I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio HE Top loading washer before I did my homework. I purchased approximately 2 years ago. While I dont seem to have the volume of complaints Ive read from others, I do have many intermittent complaints. As others have described, from day one I have gone from this uneasy feeling about how it is working to down right POd about the condition of my clothes after a load finishes.List of issues you will avoid by buying a different product: 1. Water levels SO low your clothes dont get clean. Yes Whirlpool, thank you for trying to save me $$ by lowering my water bill, but for goodness sake there should be enough water in the damn tub to cover the load. I literally watch dry clothing twist back and forth and NEVER go out (like they claim) to the edge of the tub and under then back up in the center. Instead they just sit there watching from the edge while the poor items of clothing in the center get twisted together.2. Powdered detergent, even if listed as HE will not dissolve in this low water level and will end up as white patches of film on your dark clothes. Suggestion to avoid this - dont use powdered detergent, but even if you use liquid HE detergent, you may still experience white patches of soap film on your clothes. It happens on all of them but shows up clearly on dark clothes. Setting the washer to always do a 2nd rinse cycle will improve the outcome. Not a perfect solution since the point of a low water washer is to use LESS water and not more by running a 2nd rinse on all your loads.3. No Consumer/User options to allow you to use the washer as you see fit. Since I paid a small fortune for this stupid washer and didnt realize that I would never again be able to dye fabric in my washer I am posting this as a warning to other crafty consumers. DONT BUY THIS WASHER if you ever want to dye fabric or an article of clothing larger than underwear. There is absolutely no setting on the washer cycles that will fill the tub with more than a few inches of water. The washer falsely has a mislabeled setting called Deep Water Soak. This is absolutely a LIE. Good thing I tested the cycle before putting my blanket in there to dye it. The cycle spins many times in the beginning pouring water into the clothes, then empties the tub and does it again. Then after 10 minutes into the cycle it begins to fill (if you want to call it that) the tub. After putting about 3 inches of water in the tub - not even enough to cover the top of the articles in the tub (I used 6 towels as my test subjects) it stops to soak. But stuff is still sticking up out of the water!!! OMG! So frustrating. This would not do for dyeing anything of value as you would not be able to agitate enough to ensure coverage of the fabric evenly with dye. Just dont buy this washer if you have, as I have in the past, enjoyed changing the color of linens and re-dyeing dark clothing that have faded! Whirlpool clearly didnt care about how consumers actually need to use the washer. I may try using this setting by pausing and filling it manually with buckets of hot water from my sink to get enough water in there to cover the fabric. Its just ridiculous that I even have to consider how to outsmart my washer!4. Smelly clothes. Seriously. I do the obligatory monthly Affresh cleanings, and I have learned to leave the lid open after the last load of clothes so the tub can air dry. However, I still from time to time pull a load out of the tub and it smells like mildew. And dont think for one second that the smell will go away when dried. I have opened the dryer and pulled clothes out, smelled the mildew and put them right back in the washer for a 2nd go round. Nothing worse than putting on a clean nightgown and smelling like mildew! Ewe!! With this awful washer you can NEVER leave a load of washed clothing sit for any length of time or you can look forward to smelly clothing. Hate it. Absolutely HATE it. Again, this defeats the purpose of using less water.Cant make myself spend more dollars that I dont have in the budget to replace this piece of crap. I have figured out all the workarounds for now, but as soon as I can replace it I will send it to the dump. Not going to resell or donate to anyone else as it would just be a burden for others. If there was ever a rightful need for a class action lawsuit to compensate consumers for false claims by a company - this is it! Hope this helps prevent anyone reading from making the poor purchase decision I have!
Purchased this dishwasher in 2015. It has been horrible. The unit has never cleaned sufficiently on any cycle. I run the unit in the evening for the full cycle with heat. It takes almost 4 hours. The dishes are still soaking wet the next morning. We would be considered light use as a family of two. I hand wash any larger pans or cookware as the racks do not support anything of midrange weight or above. With the poor cleaning, I purchased a additional silverware rack and placed it more centrally to attempt better cleaning. It remains mediocre at best. The most recent irritation is the door latch has started pulling free from the unit and remains attached to the door! I have to take pliers and remove it from the door and reaffix it into the housing of the unit. Will never recommend this nor will I ever purchase anything from this company in the future. Sad to see the quality falter to the point of absolute failure.
I bought a Whirlpool fridge in 2014 and started having problems a year later. It was making really loud noises and the fridge part wasnt working. All the food was warm. Of course there is no warranty on it after one year. I called a repairman and he said that the doors dont seal properly so the warm air is getting in causing condensation which freezes the engine/fan which is the cause of the loud noise. The reason why the upper fridge is warm is because the fan pushes the cold air up from the freezer, which of course wasnt working. Then I noticed that the frame at the bottom of the fridge is bending causing the freezer not to seal properly which would be the reason for warm air getting inside the fridge.
The Worst experience with Gold Series Mod WRF 757SDEM01. Purchased from Best Buy June 2016. $2215.00. Within 6 months The interior light began going dark within 6 months. Our very reputable warranty repair service ordered a part that did not repair it. Was only temporary. They did figure out that the circuit board was bad and promptly took care of our problem. Next I kept noticing water appearing on our wood flooring. Let it go because it only appeared sporadically. Called Whirlpool only to find out they switched to a warranty repair service that was inept and inexperienced. Said he could fix it. Blamed it on a freeze-over so I let floor dry up then re-started and refilled. Thought he did fix it cause it made sense. When reassembling he broke to upper freezer try glide. Then 3-4 weeks later I notice one morning water again on my wood floor. The dripping had been running beneath the wood slats and had seeped up through the joints. Now the flooring wood has swollen and will need to be replaced because of this. This is the second time I had to unload all food and store at neighbors and give away. Extremely poor engineering designs as each time the ice dispenser is used, nothing prevents ice from flying out onto the floor ever since day one. Same with water. The release does not shut down to prevent water or ice from pouring out onto the floor when removing any size cup. The refridge doors must both be opened to use the lower level drawer. Loses much cooling with having to always open both. Next, weve come home MANY times with the left refridge door partially open because of the difficulty of the mechanism to secure at closing. This happens to us 5 times a week for three years-honestly!. This was the only refridge we could find that would fit our opening in a 20-yr-old home. The fridge is so heavy one man cant pull it out of its opening. Only 2 very small wheels in front and skids in rear stick due to weight. Weve confirmed this is not a spigot leak from the ice maker. Finally (but probably not) the ice container allow much air in because of having to open the left door that your ice is always melted together plus it too small for a family of two and ice must be purchased when entertaining. And to top it off, the human that took the warranty call this time is foreign and my wife could not get them to get our last name spelled correctly nor the phone number correct after constantly repeating it. This unit and model is an absolute lemon. Im going out today to find another unnecessary $2500.00 to buy another.
I have a Whirlpool french door unit with ice & water through the freezer door. I recently noticed rust in the ice. When the extended service plans tech came to see it he told me that the ice bucket would have to be ordered. Almost a month later, I called him and was told that rust isnt covered. I understand that surface or cosmetic rust shouldnt be covered, but rust in a place where it can be ingested is different. Anyway, I called Whirlpool directly and a very nice phone rep agreed with me and asked her supervisor. Needless to say, I just sent Whirlpool a letter stating that I would pursue this through legal channels if I dont get satisfaction.
Dishwasher leaking thru the diverter motor; apparently the gramet # WPW10195677 gets worn out and starts leaking. They have discontinued the part and can no longer be found. I call Whirlpool and all Parts supplier in my city. Obviously this is something that happens with time (5 yr old dishwasher) and is something very simple to change. But if we cant find the part....what are we supposed to do. Also my dishwasher rack has broken 2 years ago and is holding with zip straps! Horrible product!
I owned a Kenmore washer for approx. 20 yrs that endured 6 kids for most of that time period. When time came for a new one, I had to have the latest model, and settled on a Maytag Bravos approx 3 yrs ago. This was a huge mistake - I paid between 600-800 for this machine, and it is a piece of garbage. The repairmen here yesterday explained to me that Maytag and Whirlpool are now the same company, and also that all these machines are now made overseas because of cheap labor. In a nutshell, I was given an estimate of at least 300 to repair this piece of crap - he explained that they are only made to last a few yrs -where is the justice in this situation? I really dont get how these big companies get away with selling crap, knowing all the while that the consumer is getting screwed - yet people continue to buy them..
We purchased our Whirlpool Gold series, french door refrigerator 22 months ago. The freezer and ice maker has stopped working. We had one repairman come out already and he couldnt fix it. We have another one coming in 2 days. I am very disappointed with the Whirlpool brand. I also bought a microwave, 2 wall ovens, and a dishwasher at the same time. The microwave makes a clicking noise every time you use it.
I have hated this Cabrio washer and dryer set since the day they were delivered brand new by Best Buy a couple of years ago. The washer does not clean well, often does not spin dry, and leaves some clothes dry after a full wash cycle!!! I have to wash small loads on the deep water cycle to even have a chance at cleaning the clothes. The clothes are so dreadfully compacted and tangled that it takes great effort to birth them out of the washer, unfurl them, shake them, and put them into the next torture machine- the dryer. It is as if Whirlpool intended to build a machine to twist clothing so tight that it requires a bodybuilder to untangle the clothing. Then the items are so incredibly crumpled that ironing has found its way back into my already busy life. Ironing is a massive challenge to the degree of wrinkles in the clothing. The slanted tops are icing on the cake. Cant even pull the clothes out of the dryer to the top of it because they slide right off. Cool.
We hate the matching Cabrio washer dryer bought in 2011: Dryer lower blower went out after 18 months in service. The day it went out whirlpool sent me the extended warranty offer. Warranty had expired 6 months prior. I renewed for 12 months and promptly called for a repair. Cost was approximately $450.00, all covered under the newly paid for warranty. I dodged a bullet there. Washer has the splintering fiberglass around the top. Lower bearing is out and sounds like a freight train coming out of the laundry room. Not going to have it repaired. Looking for new units not manufactured by whirlpool. Shameful ROI. No more whirlpool products in our house.
Had the fridge 5 1/2 years. Freezer quit working was told by 2 different repairmen it would cost $800 to repair. Called Whirlpool, was on hold 45 minutes, literally, both times I called. They could not help me. Called the corporate complaint line. The man I talked to was such a smart **! I finally said I cannot believe you are talking to me like this, I have bought Whirlpool for 35 years. He backed off slightly. Still couldnt help me. BTW, I LOVE my new Samsung refrigerator! Will NEVER buy Whirlpool again.
Purchased a home recently that had a Whirlpool dishwasher installed within it. Havent lived here for more than 2 weeks. Go to use the dishwasher a week ago and the dishwasher wont turn on. Its brand new! We tried resetting the breaker and all the tricks on the website page. So we called Whirlpool to have them send someone out and diagnose the problem... a week later. The appliance repair man comes out and says its not receiving the proper voltage for the dishwasher to run. So I contact the electric company that installed the electric wires within the home and they came out the next day to check their work. The electrician found that there was the proper voltage coming into the lines for the dishwasher to run and in fact it is the dishwasher. So at this point Im back to square one and called Whirlpool again. At this point, I just wanted them to replace the dishwasher with a new one (same model, no upgrade) since it hasnt even been 30 days of owning the thing and its already having issues. I havent even used it once. I didnt think I was crazy for asking for a new one. Especially when the problem seems to be electrically related. They tell me another person has to come back out and deem the product unrepairable for them to exchange the product for a new one. They tell me its going to be yet again another week for someone to come deem it repairable or not. But wait heres a 75 dollar Visa gift card for your inconvenience. How about you spend the 75 dollars on hiring a technician to come fix it today? Had a similar problem with a LG appliance and they sent me a new one with no hassle without even sending a tech out to see if it was repairable or not. Buyers beware! Dont waste your money on Whirlpool. Clearly they do not care about their customers. They would rather spend more money in technician fees than to just admit their product isnt functioning correctly and replace it.
I purchased the original Whirlpool refrigerator in August of 2013. That was replaced in October of 2013 due to a factory defect that left the ice maker unusable. In April of 2014, we now have a factory defect that has resulted in the entire unit unable to keep the fridge below 70 degrees F. It has been 2 weeks since the fridge died and Whirlpool has informed me it will be another 2 weeks until a replacement fridge will be delivered. I have spoken with countless customer service reps and 2 customer service managers, as well as 1 executive from the executive office in Michigan. Several times Whirlpool has dropped the ball in this process. The original repair appointments were booked and had to be rebooked because the repair company could not accommodate the appointment times Whirlpool booked. It took over a week to get the fridge declared dead. Then another week just to process the request through tech support... After speaking with 2 customer service managers and being told it was being rushed, I spoke with an executive who said the claim had never been submitted and it would take another 24 to 48 hours to process. I spoke with the executive after the 48 hours and he said the fridge will be delivered in 2 weeks! 4 weeks without refrigeration for a second factory defect. I have explained that I have a newborn (6 weeks old when this started) and a 2 year old, and we have had up to 9 people staying in the house (to visit with the baby) over this period and that I need a fridge to keep my breast milk cold. I was told I would receive a $75 gift card and a $125 check to help with food and costs associated with the loss of our fridge... Neither have arrived. We are spending quite a bit on ice just to be able to keep food and milk cold to temp. so we dont have to spend money on eating out (too expensive for us). I am shocked by Whirlpool’s poor customer service. The first time the fridge was replaced I dealt with one person and didnt have to call the customer service line every day. I wish I had her number still.
My Whirlpool electric range has been a nightmare! I bought this thing 5 years ago and I am having it replaced on Saturday! It had a cleaning thing where I put in distilled water and 20 minutes later I could just wipe it out. Not true. I had to use oven off??? Next the oven would not work. Learned if I turned off the power it would reboot itself! The next thing it did was all on its own it turned the temp. from 250 degrees to a full BROIL. The oven now will not heat up to 350 degrees! I just blew $1200.00! On the other hand I did buy a Whirlpool fridge. It has been awesome!
I replaced a 4 year old Whirlpool dishwasher with a new Whirlpool dishwasher on 01/18/2019. July 2020, dishwasher failed. Finally got Whirlpool to send out a repair technician and was advised that the sump and motor had failed. This is after only a year and a half. Whirlpool will not back their product because I did not send another $200 for a service plan. So basically whirlpool cant even guarantee that their product will even last a year.My 4 year old dishwasher had the same issue which is still unacceptable. I have a Whirlpool refrigerator that almost burned down my house and just replaced a failed Whirlpool stove with a Samsung. I wish I could say what I am replacing this dishwasher with, but I am too frustrated to even look for a replacement after only a year and a half. Replacement parts will cost $250 just for me to do it myself. Do yourself a favor and research the product. Should you spend more? I cant answer that. I have seen 20+ year old Frigidaire dishwashers still working. I honestly dont know what brand to get, but I do know that I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again, and neither should you.
A whirlpool water heater model FG1F5040T3 purchased from Lowes five years ago developed problems, which could not be fixed. My problems started two weeks ago when the pilot light would not stay lit eight hours at a time and then nothing. Having a service plan through our utilities, they were notified not once but as it stands now, 6 times. Six techs have been out to my house and replaced the thermocouple twice and a complete gas control valve. The pilot still will not stay lit. Supervisor contacted Whirlpool on Thursday. Now its Saturday and no word from Whirlpool and no hot water. Try to get assistance from Whirlpool after work hours and it is impossible. This tells me that they do not care about their customer or the product that they make. Do not buy Whirlpool products!
The salesperson was great but we are not happy with our washer. We already had it swapped out once because of white spots showing up on our clothes. The only thing they could think of was that the bleach I used wasnt rinsing out completely so it showed up on our clothes. Recently, I washed a table runner by itself and it had some red in it. Now there are red spots on a couple of items that I washed after the runner. My husband just now asked why there were red spots on a shirt that he wears all the time. I explained. Also, we have had some white spots on clothes and I could scratch it out without leaving a permanent mark. Were no longer using bleach and we use only liquid detergent and all of it is HE. So I dont understand the machine. I hate it.
The washing machine has been through 4 boots. The boot material is so flimsy, that they tear constantly causing water to leak out of the machine. There are times it is minimum water, and other times a lot of water.
My 4-year old water heater has upper/lower sensor issues for the fourth time this year. The rep was supposed to send replacement parts to arrive today (day four with no hot water), but the wrong ones were shipped. A different rep called and offered to exchange the unit for a new one. The expense to me will be $350-$450 for the plumber to uninstall my unit, take it to Lowes and bring the new one back to install. The plumber suggested I take my $450 and just buy a new non-Whirlpool unit. He knew immediately that I had a Whirlpool hot water heater because its the most common repaired vendor. Whirlpool should be covering this expense for re-installation of their inferior product. Poor customer service. Day 4 with no hot water during the holidays with no solution in sight short of me purchasing a new hot water heater. Whirlpool finally got the right parts to me and I paid a plumber $190 to install. One week to the day later, my pilot light will not stay lit. No change in ventilation since it has been installed. I will say I have been dealing with their rep Chris on the phone who is extremely nice and I feel sorry for him. But we all have the exact same issue which is not being resolved.
I bought a whirlpool water heater at Lowes 4 months ago, and it has stopped working. I called the customer service number and was treated so unjust. I told them that I had just had it looked at by a plumber and he said that the water heater needed to be replaced, I told the whirlpool represented if what the plumber had just advise me. So I asked them if they could just replace it, the customer service representative told me I had to call another number to have their service people look at it and that wasnt for another 10 days. At which time I asked the representative what was I to do without hot water for 10 days. She told me that they could only schedule it that way. So Im here to tell you all please please please dont ever Buy anything from whirlpool because they will not back it up! I on the other hand just lost $500 and went out and bought a Rheem water heater instead.
Never have to worry about my extra freezer products. Keeps them at the correct temperature. Plenty of room on the shelves and on the door. A great asset for large families.
I purchased a side-by-side Whirlpool refrigerator less than three years ago, but about a year ago we discovered it was leaking from the freezer thats located on the bottom. Initially we thought that if we simply defrosted the sheet of ice that formed on the bottom of the freezer - it would stop the leaking. Its hard to keep up with - I checked into it on the Internet and discovered that there is a clogged drain hole that is causing the leaking.Apparently, a number of people are experiencing the same thing. I called Whirlpool (since our local repairman suggested we contact them because this is a chronic problem and is likely to happen again). The customer service person kept pushing me to buy the extended warranty with their repair that will cost nearly $400!!! Without it - it will cost nearly $200 that doesnt include any parts. Its a new refrigerator, very bad quality and theres damage to our kitchen floor, and then Whirlpool wants me to pay $400 to repair the mess they made! VERY UPSET...
On April 10, I bought a Whirlpool washing machine with a sensor. My clothes do not come clean. The dirty spots are still visible. I had three technicians come to check it out and after they just made the machine start, make the water run, and make the water empty, they confirmed that it was working normally. I have insisted on having someone come and just do a small wash and they did not agree because they are not there to wash clothes. I went back to Leon’s where I bought it and the saleslady told me that she could not do anything about it. I have been dealing with the customer service and the person has tried three times to get someone to come and check the washer properly and was insisting in front of me that I wasnt at all satisfied with the performance of the washer and still confirmed that the washer was working fine. They keep saying that there are no parts that need to be fixed or exchanged, so that means there is nothing wrong with the washer. I have tried all different kind of soaps. They were suggesting that I use Tide, which was the best performing soap. I used Tide or Purex - I even tried half a bottle of bleach - and it would not clean my clothes. The problem is the clothes are not turning, they just hardly moved with water that just keeps the clothes humid. I tried putting in more water with a bucket and when I push the start button, it would drain out all the water that it did not put itself. Ive called the consumer protection and they have advised me to take legal actions against the company and the store that sold it to me. They confirmed that whatever we buy, the article has to do the work it was made for; so the performance of a washing machine is to wash clothes. I even took a three-year prolonged warranty and the store told me that once the one-year warranty with the company has expired, then they could help me with sending their technicians and see what the problem was and they would take it from there. I have an account with the store and I have eighteen months to pay it off. So I was wondering if the saleslady did sell me an appliance saying that it was very good and that I should not have any problems with it. Can I take steps going against her for false advertisement? It’s a month now that my clothes are not washed properly and I need to rewash them by hand before putting them out to dry. The consumer protection office has been telling me that the store should be the one to finalize the problem with the company, but it seems that not even they can come to an agreement. Whatever steps I will take against the company and the store, what are my chances of getting my washer replaced? Whirlpool has been advised about me taking them to court and I got permission to do so. Actually, they invited me to go ahead and do what I thought was right. I do not have the money or time to waste on something that maybe I will have no chance to get anywhere. All I want is to have it replaced with another washer that would be more performing. If anyone has had the same problem and had their case solved, maybe it will give me hope to go on. Please, what is the best and fastest way for me to get this problem resolved? I do need a washing machine. I do need to wear clean clothes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
This seems to be a very common complaint with Whirlpool French door especially after reading other reviews. Bought a WRF560SMY in 2/2014, from Lowes who installed it and promised good service for that first year. Whatever went wrong, they would take care of it, replace if needed, pay for lost food, etc. So far, so good. Now in 7/2015, warranty is up of course!!! And we are selling our home, so thought I would get an extended warranty as another selling point that would transfer to new owners. Well, of course, right after I purchased the warranty, the day after actually, the freezer started buzzing. Took a look and the whole back wall of freezer was covered in frosty ice. So defrosted it, seemed to run okay... For a few hours, same problem. It sounds like the compressor fan is scraping on ice, and it runs continuously. Defrosted again, same problem. So now it is time to break down and get on the phone, which I hated to do since I went through this with Samsung in late 2013, took me 3 months to resolve. Anyway, called Whirlpool Michigan office, which I recommend. They claimed they would cover repairs, and to call their warranty repair dept. to schedule service. THEY told me I was out of luck, as my just purchased warranty would not be good for 60 days. Back to Michigan, they told me it WOULD be covered, and to try again. No go, and this time someone with a middle eastern accent told me not only would it not be covered, but even after the 60 days, it still would not be covered as it was a, GET THIS!!! pre-existing condition! Excuse me, this is not a brain tumor, and Obama did away with that anyway. So tried to call Lowes, who sympathized, but could not help since the warranty I purchased was from Whirlpool, but they would repair if I paid. And be aware that most chain stores require you purchase an extended warranty within 30 days of installation, so out of luck there, but they were nice about it, told me go back to Whirlpool. So another call to Michigan, and FINALLY got a gal at their call center in Tennessee, who resolved my problem in about three minutes. All in all, 12 phone calls. This is a manufacturer issue. she said, not a repair problem. which is what the others were apparently not educated about. It appears, although she did not say so in so many words, that this is a very, very common problem, and Whirlpool will indeed cover condenser or defrost heater assemblies for 3-5 years depending on the model. So she is supposedly calling a local repair and someone will be out in a day or two, but will call us first. No call yet, so still nail biting. I would recommend to all of you with this or other issues to read the manufacturer warranty very, very carefully. There are some things in there that go beyond the standard year, and I KNEW I had read that this problem was covered beyond the one year, and indeed, it is. And also to call, call. Call their Customer Experience Center in Michigan (1-800-253-1301) and if your freezer is icing up, you will most likely get them to fix, depending on the age of your unit. If you dont get satisfaction with the first person, keep calling back again and again, and get the NAME of the person you have spoken with and tell them to document your call. This saved me, as every call I made came up on their screen so they knew I was getting frustrated. But, she assured me, this particular problem is ABSOLUTELY COVERED BY WHIRLPOOL, so obviously it is a defect they know about. Why they dont fix it at factory, dont know but will continue to look for that answer. They got especially cooperative when I told them I was purchasing a home that would need all new appliances in the near future, which is true. Use the Michigan number and keep calling and calling until you get satisfaction. This is a covered repair beyond the one year. By the way, I do not have my ice cube maker hooked up and never did, but still had this issue. With this being said, I am very unhappy that yet another refrigerator failed on me. The Samsung after only 3 months, and the Whirlpool after only 17 months. But I will follow up on this report when and if these repairs are made in a day or two ;-] we shall see, and let you all know. The repair service is Whirlpool certified, so will grill the guy they send and see how many of these he has to fix, and whether it really is fixed So stay tuned. Just dont take your time and get frustrated talking with people who turn you down right off. Be persistent, and plan on about a dozen calls and two hours of your time. Remember to take notes of times, names, what was said, etc. This is the only thing that saved me with Samsung by the way. After 3 months they told me they HAD NO REPAIR PEOPLE in my area, and sent me a check for the purchase price to buy whatever replacement I wanted, but they also made me jump through many hoops, send pictures, docs, all kinds of stuff. Think I can almost speak a mid-eastern language now as well. Not so with Whirlpool though. It seems most if not all of their call centers are in the USA. Good luck to all of you. On my way to defrost again so we can get some sleep tonight without the chainsaw noise, and will update as soon as something occurs here. Hope I helped a little. As a PS, the last gal I spoke with was so very nice and knowledgeable. I told her she should not be taking calls, but promoted to training the call takers, and did take the time to call her supervisors and leave a message at how very good she was, which we should all do if we ever get a nice, educated person on the other end.Updated on 07/29/2015: I promised an update, so here it is. After thoroughly explaining my issue, they promised and delivered a repair person who arrived within the time they gave. He was very nice, but even tho they knew what my problem was, the guy did not have the parts onboard. He said it may take a week or two. So I am defrosting my freezer about every 48 hours to keep it from totally destroying itself. To the guy who exchanged his Whirlpool for a Samsung, I wish you a whole lot of luck if something goes wrong, and it will for sure. You wont get anyone who speaks English, but if you have a Lowes warranty, you may fare better. I can give you details on what will go wrong and how they deal with it if you want. I would advise you to have the Lowes warranty, and not a Samsung warranty, and make sure you get one within 30 days, or you are out of luck with Lowes. Good luck to you. Will update more on my Whirlpool, will say the repairman was very, very nice and gave me his card to call if I had more problems I could not solve myself until the part comes in. By the way, I do not use the icemaker and never did connect it, nor with the Samsung. I pity anyone who has to deal with Samsung directly and strongly advise you to get the warranty thru the store.
Purchased the Cabrio top loading washer and dryer. Huge mistake. The clothes come out of the washer a tangled wrinkle mess. Have tried different cycles and water levels to no avail. Dark clothes have detergent streaks and lint. The dryer has a steam refresh cycle which Ive used to try and remove some of the wrinkles caused to no avail. Clothes come out with water spots. Ive only owned this dual for about 6 months. Take my advice and DO NOT PURCHASE!!!
It works extremely well. My wife and I have had it for several several years and no problems with it and it cleans the dishes very well. We really like the silverware holder. The right size for a family. Recommend it to anyone.
We bought a Whirlpool freezer-bottom 18.5 cu ft. fridge from Lowes. The compressor broke in less than three months of regular use. I called Whirlpool who sent A&E to check it out. The technician didnt even file a report and lied to me about what was wrong with the fridge. They sent a different company to come look at it and they confirmed that the compressor is broken. I called Whirlpool customer service and was told that the warranty only covers repairs not replacement even though I paid over $1,000 for a defective product. The excuse: Its a man-made product so we cant guarantee it! So what used to be a 3-5 year warranty not too long ago is now what? A one-year warranty is virtually useless. I can see a future not too far off where there is no warranty at all. Where is the protection for the buyer? If I wanted to purchase a second-hand fridge, I would have. I will never buy Whirlpool again.
Whirlpool 50 gallon water heater - I bought a high efficiency tank water heater less than 1 year ago from Lowe’s. It stopped working after 10 months. Lowe’s indicated that it was a manufacturer issue so I called Whirlpool. After talking to the service rep, they said they would send a part, which I would need to install or call a plumber. The part didnt show, so I called again. This time I was told that they needed to confirm the problem with a local service tech. We are now at 5 days without hot water, and it looks like it is going to be another 3. Dont buy Whirlpool. Lowe’s has tried to help but cant get anything done either.
After 14 years of good service with Whirlpool Duet front load washer dryer set, wife chose Whirlpool kitchen appliances as part of a kitchen update project. All matching fridge, range, microwave hood and dishwasher. What a nightmare! The icemaker growls and whines all the time and the dishwasher was broken before being packaged at the manufacturer. A wheel from the middle rack was missing when the dishwasher was opened. It wasnt in the sealed dishwasher nor in the box. So it had to have been broken off before the item was boxed. We called for warranty claim and A-1 Appliance was recommended out of Shreveport, LA. In a few weeks he showed up, looked at the rack for a while and said Ill have to order a new part. I said fine. (How hard can that be? Right?) So here we are 5 months later, unable to use the middle rack because it cant hold any weight with the roller missing. Multiple calls to Whirlpool and A1 and we keep getting promises and runarounds that turn out to be lies. How hard is it to say go to your local Lowes and well authorize them to give to give you a rack from an in-stock dishwasher? Let Lowes wait on the new part! Sounds simple, and any other company would have done that, or told us to return it to Lowes for another one. But NO! Whirlpool just whines about being behind on parts, shorthanded, or lies about the part is in and its A1s problem now.So, today, same story. A1 says they need 2 parts. **! Its one part. Whirlpool says A1 has the needed part. Same old runaround. So, we just replaced our 14 year old washer and dryer with NON Whirlpool units. $2500 more in of appliances that Whirlpool could have gotten, but Im guessing they dont even care about missing and losing sells. They certainly do not care about warranty, parts, quality, customer satisfaction or repeat customers. Never again with Whirlpool! Beware!
My husband and I purchased a Gold Series, French Door refrigerator/freezer in 2012. Everything was fine until our icemaker took a dump a few weeks ago. It had to be replaced. Taking time off from work to meet the repairman with that repair was an inconvenience but it was only magnified when we were told he would call us an hour before the repair, which never happened. We were given the usual 4 to 5 hour window in which we could expect a service call, which is the standard these days. But I had to rush home when he called because we never got that courtesy call an hour before. The repair, as frustrating as the situation was, was made and we thought that would be end of that for a while.Things were fine until today when I discovered puddles of water on our wood floor as I was leaving for work. While mopping things up with a paper towel and trying to determine what the problem was, I discovered a frozen puddle of ice on the floor of the freezer when I pulled it out. This situation, obviously, was more urgent than the last one we had a few weeks prior so we were hoping for a bit more than the Well have someone come out on the 20th response I was given. It was only after jumping through hoops like a trained monkey at the circus and raising my voice a few times out of frustration, did we get a call from the actual repairman who said he would be out within a couple of hours.By his own admission, the small rubber seal the repairman replaced somewhere in the refrigerator, was known by the manufacturer to be an inferior part. He told us they are well aware of the problems caused by this inferior seal and that they eventually need to be replaced with one that is of better quality. Apparently, its cheaper for them to use the inferior one, and they choose to disregard the inconvenience, not to mention the potential damage that could be caused to a persons home because of it.We have a great many concerns on a great many levels surrounding this product and the way we were treated as paying, extended warranty consumers. This refrigerator was a major purchase for us. We placed our confidence in a company and a product we thought we could trust; not to mention making the assumption that if we paid good money for an extended warranty, a problem like this most recent one would meet with more of an eager attempt at getting us the help we needed without having to become as insistent and frustrated as we were forced to be.How disappointing to discover that spending over $2,000 on a major purchase like this and then being told we would have to wait 3 to 5 days for a repair. Having to take time off from work, or being told to wait for up to 5 days for any sort of help to replace a small rubber seal, known to be of inferior quality, that was replaced in 10 minutes is absurd. Think twice before spending hard-earned money on this product!! The tragic lesson, however, in all of this is the verbal confirmation by the repairman that just about all manufacturers are the same when it comes to corporations trying to save $$$ and blowing off the inconvenience and expense of their customers.
Updated on 07/30/2021: On 5/4/21 a tree took out a neutral on the power line to my home and after inspection by my electrician, he said my Whirlpool refrigerator was done. Not even 1 year old. When attempting to get Whirlpool to replace the refrigerator, they said they have to try and repair it before considering any other options. As they do not cover damage by acts of God their warranty would not cover replacement. Mind you I paid around $1500 for my refrigerator and it was not even 1 year old. 5/17/21 (2 weeks from when the refrig got fried and I had to get and I had to purchase a used refrig until then) serviceman said he had to order parts. 6/1/21 - Motor-Cond $158.20, Fan Blade $13.97, CNTRL Elec $60 CORE [PI] $497.45 and Evap Fan Motor $183.91. Did not fix the problem and had to order more parts. 6/8/21 - Evap Fan Motor $183.91 (first one did not work), Rail $34.76. Service tech said to wait a bit before moving the frig back to make sure it was cooling properly. Finally moved it back on 7/7/21 and hooked up the water line. Few days later noticed water leaking from the top of the freezer door and a lot of water on my floor. Heard a funny sound and found water spurting from the top 2 corners of the freezer door. Called whirlpool warranty and was told they would contact me. Next I get a notice that I have a service appointment in August. Was able to get it moved with a follow up appointment with a part that was broken during the last repair for 7/28/21.7/28/21 - Fill tube heater for icemaker was open and frozen - now tech ordered Rail $34.76, Freezer Door $1,525.84 and Valve $124.23. 6-8 weeks custom order. So we also have to added 5 service calls to the cost - Approx. $500++. Total Replacement Parts = $2,758.81 with a final total cost to repair of $3258.81+ vs just replacing or reimbursing me for the appliance of approximately $1800. Someone needs to review their model because not only am I without a working refrig for 4-5 months, but the repairs cost them $1500 more and now they have a customer who will not longer invest in Whirlpool appliances because of bad business practices and inconvenience.Original: I purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator in July 2020. Earlier this month I had a tree pull down a power line and disconnect the neutral, allowing a full surge of power to go through my house. It fried the exhaust hood, literally melting the components. It also fried my refrigerator. The electrician who reconnected my home signed an affidavit that the refrigerator was permanently damaged due to the surge. When contacting Whirlpool to file a claim, I was on hold over an hour before getting a person. This happens every time you attempt to contact them, so patience is required. I was not able to get a service call on my refrigerator for 2 weeks (5/17/21) so that left me without a refrigerator. The service company showed up early and I had no choice but to leave my job or reschedule another 2 weeks out. The tech said he could only repair and made an attempt to contact Whirlpool to get the unit replaced and he was on hold for over 30 minutes. They declined and said because it was an act of God they could not replace it. I was already having issues with the unit before the surge of a constant defrost that was causing food to spoil due to melting then refreezing causing freezer burn. I also lost over $500 worth of food. They dont cover. It also caused the icemaker to constantly freeze up. Now it will take at least another 2 weeks for the replacement part to fix and a refrigerator is not something you can go without that long. I had a concern this would happen. When speaking with customer I service, they said they just needed the tech to confirm it was damaged to replace it. At this point he said he does not know if the piece (on 2 weeks backorder) will fix it. They can only tell after the fact. He said Whirlpool only fixes and does not replace, which is not what Home Depot informed me when inquiring into the warranty with Whirlpool. They said Power Surges are covered. So with this in mind, I would seriously consider buying from Whirlpool. Things break, situations happen and no one should have to go without a refrigerator for over a month because they may be able to fix it. Then there is the concern if something is melted/destroyed inside, if it could cause a fire in the future. Will never buy another Whirlpool appliance again. They cant stand behind their products, the products are worthless. And yes, I am very upset. Again - just had Whirlpool tell me its not covered as it is an act of God! ARGH -
Have a warranty with them to get reimbursed for repairs for a year. Have had to use it twice now for the same part. Customer service told me itd take two weeks to get a certified repairman of their choosing to be reimbursed. Two weeks to go without a fridge is their solution and they have no other repairmen working. So I ask to speak to a supervisor and the representative tells me she wont transfer me out because thats the way it is. Paid out of pocket to get it fixed immediately instead of waiting.
In August 2012 I purchased a side-by-side fridge with indoor water/ice dispenser. The appliance was purchased from Sears and delivered and installed by their employees or contractors. In November 2014 the refrigerator abruptly stopped making ice and began continuously cycling through the ice making process without creating ice cubes. Repairman told me the ice maker needs to be replaced for $300. He stated the control board went bad and the only recourse is an out of pocket replacement of the entire ice maker. A two year old fridge. The fridge has never been moved, abused, misused or dirty. It has only been used in a two adult home under normal household conditions. I would have thought an item that cost $1000 would last longer than two years!
Model CAE2745FQ0, Serial #C72680766 - Purchased this coin op clothes washer 2/2/2018 at Brandsmart, Deerfield Beach FL. Would not empty or spin correctly; 1st service call 2/28/2018. (Less than 30 days from purchase date). 3/21/2018 called Whirlpool again as same problem continues (as listed above). Washer is not being overloaded. Whirlpool repair visit scheduled again for 3/23/2018. This is the 2nd repair time since we purchased the washer on 2/28/2018. Purchased the same model 2 years ago, and experienced repeated problems to the point where we got rid of that machine and purchased the most current model referenced here. We are looking for a full refund of the purchase price as it appears that this recently purchased machine is on its way to be a repeat performance of the 1st machine that we got rid of (that was purchased 2 years ago). Again, we want the full purchase price refunded, which is $900.88. This machine is not even 2 months old. Thank you.
My old 25 yr old Whirlpool died and was shopping for a new one. I saw the Cabrio and was really impressed by the features and large capacity interior. I can say that I thought my clothes were getting clean until I looked closely. I have never been so disappointed with this washer. I wish I had my old one back! Clothes arent clean, they are so twisted when I take them out and theres a horrible smell, like oil burning when it runs. The machine would fill up and when it would start to wash, it wouldnt, it would stop. And a loud humming noise was coming from the back.I shut it off and turned it back on and it wouldnt clear. I had to unplug it and plug it back in to clear it and start over. The bearings are gone now and I was going to have a repairman come and look at it, but now I wont bother! After reading everyones comments this Cabrio is a piece of junk and Im sorry I ever bought it! So now Ill be shopping for a new one tomorrow with an agitator!!! Im not impressed with the HE appliances!!! Ive owned this POS for not quite 6 yrs. Expensive to purchase and I will not recommend Whirlpool to anyone! Its sad that companies today make cheap products!! Built to last... ha!! Well never see those again!!
We bought model WRS571CID*** which has an in-door ice maker that has stopped working after exactly 3 years. An excellent authorized service rep advised that the wire harness from the freezer to the door was damaged by chafing from normal opening and closing the freezer door, which has caused the ice maker wires to break, thereby disabling the ice maker. The only remedy is replacing entire the door, which would cost $1700 according to Whirlpools published repair data, which he is obligated to charge. Apparently, the wiring harness is not a replaceable part, because I suspect the labor hours needed to disassemble and reassemble the door is prohibitive. Well, a new fridge costs about the repair. I spoke to the Whirlpool company about whether they acknowledge that the design is faulty and that the door should be replaced at their expense even out of warranty, and they declined. So I advise prospective buyers to be aware of this issue and watch other reviews. There are many customer reviews on various sites complaining about this very issue. Our workaround is to put ice trays into the freezer to make ice, and while the dispenser still works, pour the ice thus made into the ice dispenser manually - until the wire control that also becomes damaged and stops working. I would not recommend buying this model.
One month after the delivery/installation of this new refrigerator, it began making loud noises when cooling the top refrigeration unit. After the 4th service call and replacement parts, the noise ceased for 3 months. The noise has returned and Im now scheduling the 5th service call for the same problem. Thank goodness I purchased the extended protection plan through Lowe’s when I bought my three new Whirlpool kitchen appliances. Whirlpool used to be known for quality and dependable appliances. That no longer is true. SAD.
This product is just DISAPPOINTING. The gas knobs got stuck TWICE IN 13 months only! The range is NEW! The first time 3 out of the 4 knobs broke, this time only one. It would not turn off, so we are forced to climb on the counter and turn the gas off every time we are finished cooking and turn it on again. The company wont be able to send us anybody till next week, which will force us to go on like this for NINE days plus, of course, the time it will take to order the parts needed. There is not even a back up emergency service, which should be in place since we are dealing with GAS! I have heard complaints about this product in this area: in my opinion the range should be recalled. Of course, the representatives one talks to are all trained to keep calm and reply the usual things: Oh, I am sorry etc. but the bottom line is that neither the product nor the customer service are good (the first customer service person was not very friendly either). I highly recommend that you AVOID this range if you are considering buying a gas one with double oven.
The side-by-side with the lower freezer was one of my all-time favorite units Ive ever had. The capacity of the interior was expected to be better, particularly the freezer, but it was effective in getting to the items I needed. Storing was good, but the freezer had trays in the upper portion that I could see when looking down, as Im over 6 tall.
Less than 2 years after we purchased our whirlpool dishwasher, the rack started to rust. Now the tines are so soft they fall off. The last time we bought a dishwasher the Same thing happened, but after 15 years! They dont even have an option for that to be under warranty so it tells me they dont stand by their product. I will never buy whirlpool again.
Bought a Whirlpool refrigerator December 2011, it is now 3 yrs. old, keeps shutting itself off. There is nothing under the troubleshooting area of the instructions for this. I called Whirlpool, they said I have to pay a tech to come here and troubleshoot. The warranty is 1 years, so after paying over 1k for an appliance, that gets you 1 year! I try to support American made, but no more Whirlpools here! I have all Whirlpool appliances, but Im guessing they wont last either. Very disappointed in the lack of customer service.
I am sure this will be removed quickly... But my advice to my fellow consumers is do not purchase Whirlpool appliances. They do not stand behind their products and they are a nightmare to deal with. I purchased my range (Model WEE730H0D50) May 8, 2017 and from that day the oven never work (the board was out on a brand new product). They arranged a service tech to come out 3 times. Each time the service tech discovered the replace board was damaged. So I have not been able to use my oven since I bought it in May. 3 months later now the stove top stopped working. You would think after all these issues they would replace their product. But nope I have to wait 2 weeks to get this lemon serviced again... I have young children at home which makes things worse...
Less than 3.5 years use on a 2015 Whirlpool dishwasher...total costs to repair would be $600. This just to let other know. Whirlpool did nothing for me when the same issue showed 15 months after purchase and again 18 months later. Absolutely horrible experience. I dont want them to contact me and I post this as a warning to others. They just want to sell you high priced service contracts. Terrible dishwasher and even worse customer service.
We purchased a dishwasher for $650 and within a very short period of time, the upper rack was so squeaky that it was intolerable. Service guys came and replaced the rack and wheels and all was well until a few months passed and it happened again. At that point, it was outside of the warranty, so we called upon our extended warranty we bought through Whirlpool. Guess what? That warranty doesnt cover the racks. So they referred us back to Whirlpool. They told us we had to pay for it ourselves. After being treated like a ping pong ball several times, we ended up paying about $150 for labor for another guy to come out and replace the racks again. Whirlpool agreed to pay for the parts. A few months later, we again have a squeaky upper rack that is so loud it wakes people up in our house and its less than two years old at this point. Weve been sold a LEMON!! Just got off the phone with a supervisor at Whirlpool who said they cant do anything about it and wont acknowledge we have a lemon. When I told her I was going to take this as far as I need to to resolve it, even if we have to go to court, she laughed out loud at me. We will never again buy a Whirlpool product. Our LG appliances have been great however.
Mine is a stacked unit...saves space and I just love the stooping over factor... BUT, its an energy saver and I always have to add about 5 gallons of water to it for it to cover even half a normal load...ugh!!!
Our water heater pilot light has started to randomly shut off leaving us with cold water to shower in on numerous occasions. We hired a local appliance company that we are familiar with to come out and look at it. The tech thought that replacing a part would fix it. It didnt (which I will take up with them). After doing what Whirlpool asked us to do it still is not working. I called them back to warranty the tank and the rep keeps repeating it is a limited warranty so basically I have to pay the service call and labor charges to look at, repair or replace which is going to cost nearly as much as it will to just buy a new one.
My family purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine approximately 4 years ago. The first two years were fine. I had no issues out of the machine at all. The last two years (just as my warranty expired) have been terrible. It was serviced twice just before the warranty was up and my husband has serviced it twice since. On two separate occasions, the bearings have worn-out and the bottom seal leaks water all over my floors. I would never recommend one of these machines to anyone!
We purchased a new home 6 weeks ago that was furnished with new Whirlpool appliances. The stove worked great however the oven never worked at any time. The appliance sales person advised that we had to go through Whirlpool for repair on a brand new appliance. To date we have had to stay home 2 days and the range is still not working and third service call is now scheduled. A call to Whirlpool ended with them advising that we do not qualify for a replacement range, even though it never worked. We have been without an oven for 6 weeks now which is totally unacceptable. I would never buy another Whirlpool product or recommend them based on this current experience. We paid for a new product that never worked and they will not replace it. Hopefully they can repair it on the third visit. Unfortunately I have lost faith in this product and this company.
We got the convection oven. It has no element like the one we had before with the fan. It is useless. We have to upgrade the temperature to get what we want. Difficult to clean. It does not cook like it should. We do not like it, period. Those electronic controls are not doing their work. No more Whirlpool appliances. Problems with the noise of our dishwasher also.
Well, this saga continues. Whirlpool dishwasher was purchased at the HH Gregg on Rockville Road on March 17, 2012. Whirlpool dishwasher broke down on May 17, 2012. I bought the extended warranty but who cares? HH Gregg doesnt because it does not go into effect until a year after purchase. So since its less than year, I called Whirlpool, who sent someone out a week later, who, of course, cannot fix the brand new dishwasher because 2 parts had to be ordered. This was almost 2 weeks ago! I still have not heard from the company, A & E, who works for Whirlpool here in Indy. Whirlpool called me on Monday to tell me theyre sorry and blah, blah, and will try to find part in five more days. Then ship it to me, and, of course, it will probably take another week for the maintenance man to fix it. I mean, I grew up having to wash dishes by hand, so no big problem. But when you spend $600 to $800 for a supposedly nice product to enjoy the leisure time of your life and get extended warranties, you expect it to work for at least 6 months before breaking down. So be warned. Do not buy Whirlpool, and furthermore, beware of buying extended warranties and appliances at HH Gregg.
We bought this 26 cu ft fridge from Nebraska Furniture Mart in April 2017. In November stopped making ice. Was repaired. Now it’s not working again. Multiple enquirers shows this is a common problem with this fridges. I’m debating whether it’s worth the effort to repair it or just put in junkyard. WORTHLESS piece of shiny metal.
I bought this washing machine in May 5, 2012 and delivered in July from Paddys Market. We do not use the machine that much because me and my wife and two kids living in the house. Yesterday I put my clothes in the machine and left it to wash it. When I went to get my clothes, water was all over the place in the basement and the machine was beeping and reading code LF. I turn off the machine and turned on back. Water started to fill and then suddenly water started to coming from the bottom of the machine. I removed the bottom panel and I could see the water was coming very fast from the bottom of the basket (the drum shape). I called the private company to repair it and waiting to find out.
We moved to a new house Nov. of 2012 and I went to Lowes to buy a new refrigerator. The last refrigerator we bought was a Maytag. It was a LEMON and probably had every part replaced because we had the warranty. At Lowes I thought the Whirlpool Refrigerator would be a good choice. We didnt purchase the warranty, big mistake. After only 4 YEARS, the refrigerator is DEAD, not in working order and would too expensive to fix says our reliable repair serviceman.
After reading all reviews online on the lid of the Whirlpool Cabrio Washer, it upsets me that there has not been a recall on this. Our lid has snapped & has to be held down until the lock light comes on. Often times during the cycle it must sense the lid is broken & thinks it is not locked & sets the load off line. I have to pause the load & then reset the load & hold the lid down tight until it restarts.
I am very impressed with Whirlpool. After seeing my review, they contacted me and offered to send the parts to fix the problem with the LED lights. They sent a Whirlpool authorized repairman to my home with the understanding that since the refrigerator is out of warranty, I would have to pay him. Whirlpool also asked me to return the faulty part so they can research the problem. We are once again happy owners of Whirlpool products. Thank you Whirlpool!
This is a comment for the person with the ice maker problem. I have a side-by-side, in-door ice dispenser that clogs up. First sign of problem is either the ice wont come out or it comes out crushed. What happens is frost builds up in the path the ice takes at a couple of different points. The only solution I have found is as soon as the problem starts I turn off the ice maker using the switch on the inside of the freezer. Then let it empty with normal use (if you wait too long youve increased your problems). The release button for the ice bin has frozen by now so you cant just lift it out. The bin needs to be empty. When it is empty, work the bin loose and take it out. Youll find that frost and maybe cubes have collected, frozen and blocked the passage. Be sure to turn the ice bin on its side and spray water into the undercarriage to melt and remove all the ice build up there. I use a hot sponge to melt the frost in the ice tube and then dry everything. This gets messy so be prepared to have water on the floor. Dry the ice bin and reinstall it. Ice cubes will be ready to drop from the ice maker so it wont be long until you have plenty. I live in Florida with high humidity so need to go through this process about once a month. Its a pain, but now it is just part of owning this unit. Good luck and hope this helps.
My parents bought a Whirlpool washer machine and the machine was fine for the first two years, then water started leaking from the bottom of the machine and no one has yet to fix the problem! They have the worst customer service department. The A&E worker who came to my parents house smelled, wasted a bunch of time working on the machine and didnt fix anything! The A&E worker visited my parents house over 10 times and the problem still wasnt fixed! They (worker) have ordered parts after parts and still water keeps running from the bottom of the machine! Someone, please help and cut Whirlpool from the stores! Ive spent almost a whole on the phone trying to help out my elderly parents! Its ** and a lot of headache! Never use Whirlpool; theyre all crap!
I have had an extremely frustrating experience with Whirlpool refrigerator WRT311. It broke after 6 months. So far it has been diagnosed twice with a faulty compressor and leaking coolant. Whirlpool will (seemingly) never replace an appliance--even if it makes no sense to keep trying to fix it. This is a $600 refrigerator! I cant imagine how much they have spent in repair costs. They simply send a service tech time after time, jerking the consumer around with no regard for what we have to go through to arrange 6 tech visits, some of them multiple hours long. Yes, we have had six tech visits, for a total of 10+ hours, and six weeks living with a broken refrigerator. As well as 30+ phone calls, hours on hold, etc.The refrigerator is loudly throbbing away after being refilled with coolant twice, and is still leaking coolant. Are they hoping the customer just gives up and buys a new appliance on their own? I wonder about the many positive reviews of their appliances: Are they fake? Are they churned out by Whirlpool? I have no confidence in this company. They are inept, if not crooked, and I would advise buyers to beware of poor quality and extremely poor warranty and consumer service.
This dishwasher is so far advanced from what came with our new home 18 years ago. It is absolutely the quietest machine. You have to look at the light display to know if it is even running. Its a well thought out unit with the exception of the silverware accommodation. They used a flat low-profile basket attached to the inside of the door. Not accommodating enough space wise. Solved by augmenting the more stars compartmentalized basket that came with the old dishwasher. Would recommend and purchase again in a heartbeat!
We purchased a Whirlpool Duet machine in September 2010. About a year ago, I started noticing tears and stains on clothing. Luckily, it was always on a washcloth or blanket, nothing special. Last week, it tore a 3-inch hole in my good jacket. I was not happy! My husband and I checked inside the drum and all around the seal. Neither of us found any rough edges. I thought if I called Whirlpool, they might have had a recall. They assured they had never heard of this problem. REALLY!!! Just look at all these e-mail complaints. Back to the old top loading - basic wash machine. Definitely not a Whirlpool!!!
We bought a Cabrio washer less than three years ago. I have never felt that it got my clothes clean. The washer recently stopped spinning and agitating. We were told by a very experienced repair technician today that the gear case and bearings in the tub need to be replaced at a cost of $700.00. Needless to say, I am very upset. I called the Whirlpool Company and after being on hold for almost 15 minutes, I was told that my washer is too old to qualify for any help with repair cost or part replacement. My household consists of two adults. We do on average three loads a week. This is an inferior appliance and after this experience I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.
This is a replacement of a similar model, that lasted 23 years. This modest, white, 2 door, side by side refrigerator, was purchased without the optional ice maker. It was bought specifically for the dimensions, of our custom cabinets. There are obvious differences, from the previous incarnation. The textured doors were replaced with a smooth glossy finish and their height extends higher than the refrigerator cabinet. The adjustable shelves were replaced with less adjustable pre fixed shelf supports. The LED interior lighting is much brighter that the incandescent bulbs they replaced. Overall, so far a very capable refrigerator, for a moderately sized kitchen and if the life, lasts as long as the one it replaced, this was a very good purchase.
Does the CEO know you do not stand behind your products? My washer is not even a year old and cost about $400.00. And you have stuck about $1800.00 into repairs instead of replacing a lemon washer! The washer had problems the 2nd month I owned it and you stuck a new clutch in out. Now just about everything replaced, it still does not work so I will order more parts. This is ridiculous. I would love to hear back from your CEO and would like to be reimbursed for 5 days of pay to take off and wait for repair men, laundry mat fees, etc!
I Purchased a Whirlpool range with self cleaning. I do not recommend anyone to purchase these ranges. The self-cleaning does not work at all. Like numerous reviews that said you can run them several times to do the self cleaning and they do not clean at all. Save your money. Do not purchase a whirlpool appliance!
I purchased the 19 cu. ft. Whirlpool Estar refrigerator WRT 3595FYW on 4/28/12. Freezer began showing frost immediately. Repairman from Marcellas Appliance where purchased - (518) 381-1957, came to check it, put a sealer around the door openings of refrigerator and freezer. Frost continued. I called Whirlpool. They sent another repairman from EB Russell in Schenectady, NY, door needs replacing. Door was ordered and when received by them, the door was replaced on my refrigerator. In August 2012, frost is in freezer, on its roof, on the door daily. I called Whirlpool. I told them I wanted to remove it from my home. Whirlpools reply was, you have a repair warranty, not a replacement warranty. I was not advised of this when I purchased. Otherwise, I would have gone to Sears, Lowes, etc. On 8/16/12, another repairman from The Appliance Man, Albany will be here Monday. Its dishonest sale, replacement was advised possible by Marcella, that it was just a matter of course to get an okay from Whirlpool. This is not so. There is no replacement or return policy. Please help. Thank you.
I bought a 3 burner glass hob under your built-in cooktop category (model no. AKCG 930-90 cm) in Nov. 2015 from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In the month of April 2015 I started having problems with the medium burner. The problems was rectified on 29-4-2017 after some replacements that cost me Rs. 5000. After two months again the same problem occurred, the medium burner was not igniting again, I registered a complaint on 5-7-2017, the representative came and did some maintenance and left but the same problem resurfaced after a few days.I was fed up of complaining and started using the burner during necessity by placing a weight on top of the knob. Finally on 15th Feb 2018 while I was using the stove the glass top cracked into pieces. My experience of the companys built-in cooktop is horrible and bitter. Every time I registered a complaint the representatives used to attend the complaint after 2 weeks and that too after so many phone calls. I am really dissatisfied with the service and quality of the product. I therefore strongly recommend customers not to buy this product.
We purchased a Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerator with a bottom freezer in Dec 2009. We discovered a leak dripping onto the finished basement ceiling. We discovered after several attempts that the plastic evaporation tray was broken (since day one). Previous defrosting had obviously evaporated into the hardwood until now. This item, although obviously broken when installed, was not fixed as the warranty had run out.Boo to Corbiel and to Whirlpool. They are financially not worth a lawsuit.
Whirlpool Cabrio Washer-Dryer - Bought a set a few years ago at Lowes. They are a very attractive set and I was pleased at first. Now, I have had to have repairmen out for these units 3 times. The bearings keep going out on the washer because it spins so fast, it wears them out. Now the thing is leaking. Whatever happened to the days when appliances lasted 15-20 years. For the high cost of these things, they are junk. I am very disappointed. I will never buy one of these again.
I bought a new whirlpool washer 12/15. In May 2016 it stopped spinning fast, clothes are coming out wet, still waiting for it to be repaired. Waited 3 weeks for a part, repairman came out today, it did not fix the problem. Now it doesnt work at all. Service tech said wait another week for more information. Called whirlpool. They offered me a $50 gift card to cover the laundromat. I paid $1200 for this washer. whirlpool doesnt care. I want a replacement. They said the warranty covers repair only, but they cant fix it.
I have 1 month old gas range, bought from Costco.. I was cooking chicken and it is just explode.. Called to Whirlpool company and they act like they don’t really care about it... I am shocked.. I search google and you can find other incidents with whirlpool explosion.. Just google it.. I am sooo upset with this company.. My kids were with me when it happened.. Do not buy whirlpool products...
Whirlpool Dryer Model #108409 - This dryer has given me problems within a year of purchasing it. I thought that I was investing into a good product by paying more money, $1677 to be exact. Technicians have been to my house on three different occasions and yesterday the repairman wrote that the dryer in not repairable. Badcock Furniture store in Hinesville, Georgia said that they can do nothing. BWG, who is responsible for the warranty, wants to charge me to have it repaired even against the report of the repairman saying its non repairable. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH WHIRLPOOL... I will never by another Whirlpool product. I bought this product in April of 2012 and it did not make one year before it started giving us problems. The repairman also said that the dryer was probably dropped in transporting it and it could not be detected from just looking from the front view.
I bought a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer in September 2013 and washer is already broken. It leaks out the front of the front loading door (yes, I clean it as advised, including leaving door open to air dry etc). I am a retired senior citizen and my wife and I spend 6 months of the year in Florida so the washer has barely been used since we are barely home and its not like we are trying to wash load after load of heavily soiled items daily. I would not recommend this product at all!! The repair people said it would cost approximately $300 to fix and offered a plan to fix it for $350 with a 1 year warranty. Why should I bother to do either if I will have to do same after 1 year? This machine is barely used and broke?! The customer service people were not helpful and seemed only interested selling me the repair plan to fix what should not need fixing. So, to recap - I bought the machine in 9/13 then went to Florida from 10/13 to 4/14 (so it was used 1 month). Then, it was used from 4/14 until 10/14 (6 months). I returned from Florida this year in April 2015 and it started leaking in June 2015 (2 months). So, my machine has been used for a grand total of 9 months and it is already broken!!! Stay far away. Whirlpool should come and replace this machine for us for free if they care anything about customer service and senior citizens but clearly they do not. In Florida we have an old Sears Kenmore machine that has lasted for over 20 years!!
My oven is less than 2 years old. The blue enamel has had cracks for over a year & was told its cosmetic & theres nothing that they can do about that. Now its starting to pop off. I found a few slivers in a vegetable dish! Now I cant even use the top oven because of this! It seems to only affect the bottom of the top oven. I feel that the temp may be getting too hot for the blue enamel which is another safety concern. I have contacted Whirlpool/KitchenAid to be told that if they send out a repair person he would just use a marker on chips. I was told they would give me an employee discount from $3000 to $1800 to replace but I would have to act right away for that price! Really? My oven is only 1 & a half old. When I started researching this problem I am having I found many complaints of people having the same problem! As a consumer I feel so mad & frustrated that they are not doing anything about this since its an ongoing complaint from so many dissatisfied consumers. I do believe it is a safety & health risk now that its showing up in the food that has been cooked in that oven. I would urge anyone thinking of buying a Whirlpool/KitchenAid cobalt blue enamel oven not to! They will not stand behind their product & you will have to replace at your own expense. Shame on you Whirlpool!
Purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio 4 years ago. It worked fine until last October when I had to call a Repair Service as all the Digital Controls would not work. It was the Digital Board had to be replaced at a cost of $ 315.00. That was October 2016 and in October of this year 2017 it started doing the same thing again. I call the Repair Service and they told me not to waste any more money on this machine as it is a piece of junk. I guess he was right as when I read all the bad reviews it got today, I realize I will be better off to buy another machine. It will not be a Whirlpool product. I purchased a Sears Kenmore Washer & Dryer back in 1995 and the washer lasted 20 years and I still have the dryer. This is what you refer to as a good product.
I bought a new washer and dryer 2 years ago, it was built by Whirlpool under the Kenmore name plate. In the first two weeks we had them come and service it as it was very loud in spin mode. The serviceman said they were all like that. Now, two years later, it is so loud you cannot even carry on a conversation while in the spin mode. Called for service again. After two minutes he says, You better buy a new washer, this one will cost over $800 to fix. Never will buy another Whirlpool appliance or Kenmore again. Buyer beware!
Purchased a Cabrio washer wtw5550xwo in Sept. 2010.. Had to replace the pump a little after the warranty ran out. Then recently the control board goes out. Called customer service to complain. This part costs $320 to replace. They told me since it is no longer under the one year warranty they could not help me. This is a major part in less than 5 years of the machines use. I guess I will be purchasing another washer. It will not be a Whirlpool or any company affiliated with them. How sad. I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone. They just dont make them or stand behind them like they used to.
Whirlpool stove and dishwasher very good quality. I find that the quality is beyond excellent for the amount of money. I would highly recommend Whirlpool. Easy to clean, heats up fast, looks beautiful. I would never change Whirlpool for anything else.
I have had this Cabrio washer and dryer for two years now and I would do better washing my things by hand. Save water, sure there is none!! I have a glass lid and I actually stood there and watched a cycle and the clothes on top never even got wet!! My whites are now gray!! Called the company to get nowhere. I am going to buy an old-fashioned washer that actually uses water. I tried to be eco-friendly but I dont like dirty clothes!!
RE: Our Whirlpool gas range/oven model# GW397LXUS05 installed Oct 2010 started acting up when setting the oven temperature. The 0 doesnt work so we input 355 instead of 350 etc... Other numbers have started to fail as well... Also it needs cleaning but a neighbor with the same model said whatever you do dont use the self clean for the oven, as they did & it literally burnt out the control panel costing them over $400!! Say what?? So we cant use the self-clean feature or well really fry the control board... Would LOVE to hear Whirlpools explanation on this one... And a minor issue but nonetheless worthy of a mention, the oven drawer never slides in/out properly & hasnt fit right from day one...
Whirlpool washer Model WGD4815EW1. Bought this washer just about 4 months ago and right away I hated it but was told by people that all the machines had gone to the lid lock and that the government had mandated the energy saving devices on the machines so the machine will only put just a little water in the machine. I have been VERY VERY unhappy with this machine. My husband figured out a way to bypass the lid lock mechanism. Then after washing clothes many times I found out in order to get my clothes clean I had to just set the dial to Bulky every time OR I had to wash the clothes 2 times to get clean if I didnt. Once we bypassed the lid lock and then I figured out where to put the knob so the clothes would come clean I was fine until last week the machine just would NOT wash or do anything... it filled with water and just sat there until my husband got the water out. I located a Speed Queen from an appliance store and I am much happier. It does not have the CRAZY lid lock on it. I realize that some children are apt to mess with the washers. But I dont have children anymore and when I did I had a laundry room with a lock up high on the door so they could not play in the laundry room. I dont understand why this so called mandate could not have been done in a way as to allow those with kids to have the option on the machine with a built in code device to set the machine so the lid will lock and those of us without children in the house to opt out of the code to set the lid lock. NO REASON why we cant have a CHOICE. As far as I see it is a way for the government to try control more where they need to keep out. The cars have been designed with safety locks for children to keep them safe, but it is up to you to choose to use them. Same principle! Now for the mechanism to make it so the machine will only put so much water in the machine to wash. Youre NOT SAVING any ENERGY or WATER if you have to wash the loads twice!! This whole mandated business with the newer washer machines is a huge JOKE on everyone. I will be searching out used machines and having them rebuilt because I dont EVER plan on buying another one of these newer machines. If enough people stop buying them the manufacturing companies can raise some cane with the government to get the mandate lifted. NO I will not buy another Whirlpool washer. I encourage some of you out there who LOVE a challenge to figure a way to change the stupid motherboards on the newer machines and create a great business for yourself because if someone else can create it you can recreate it.
I bought my Cabrio washer about 3.5 years ago. Little after the year, I had to replace the lid because the hinge broke. Then came the F1 code, which I noticed if you turn the machine off for a couple of minutes, it resets itself. About a week ago, it started making a grinding noise and staining the clothes with oil or grease. Transmission problems. I was told by the seller it had a 10 year warranty. I called them up and now I got to foot the bill for a technician to come to my house and tell me what I already know plus labor. Might as well buy a new one. Beware because I believe Kenmore is manufactured by the same company.
I purchased Whirlpool Slide-In 30 Gas SS Conventional Range. Terrible product quality. After about three years of use, the range shows an error message cooling fan is too low. I wasnt able to use the oven. Abt Services came in to do the repair. One month after the cooling fan was installed, the same message came up again. When Abt Services replaced the cooling fan again, the display was completely out. The cost of the repair parts is over $800. Are you kidding me! I paid $1500 for the range. Now I need to pay $800 to repair. Whirlpool didnt offer any discount for repairing the defective product but offered purchase similar product at a discount price. I will never ever pay a dime for Whirlpool product. It is a nightmare using the product. I learned my lesson. No Whirlpool product again in our house.
I had a perfectly good Kenmore range, but I didnt like the color. I purchased a Whirlpool 30-inch gas range at Lowes. I had problems immediately! The repairmen were at my house 6 times within the first year. My warranty expired and they wanted me to pay for an extended warranty. I refused to pay any more for this piece of junk! I fought with Whirlpool and demanded they either replace the range or reimburse me the full cost. They finally agreed, after many heated conversations, to replace or reimburse me as long as I promised not to purchase a Whirlpool product again. What kind of company would say that? A company that knows their product is defective and has poor customer service. I opted to take the new range that they promised wouldnt have the same problems. It is having the same issues as the original one. It shuts off in the middle of cooking and it is infuriating to say the least. I can promise Whirlpool I will never purchase a product from them ever again!
Six months after purchasing my Whirlpool Washer model number WTW5000DW0 I would hear what sounded like rocks in the bottom of spin drum during spin cycles. Then noticed it was taking longer for clothes to wash and sometimes the water did not completely drain. Called for Service under LOWES warranty (the worst people to deal with). Tech comes removes a penny and dime and tells me that is the problem. Leaves. 45 minutes after he leaves there is the noise again. Call and set up for this Service Company to come back. Even though they went out of business prior to the appointment Lowes Service would not listen to me and insisted I stay home ALL DAY for someone who did not show up. Repeated calls to the Service Company resulted in nothing - phone disconnected. So finally after much frustration I am given new appointment with new Service Company - PARRISH. Tech comes in here five minutes and wants to know the sound, I explain. He checks out the unit and tells me it is a major problem and the part and labor will be costly. Best if they just replace the machine. His added comment - I see a lot of this. So if this machine is such a problem why was it not recalled? I am getting a replacement as I have warranty and machine was not a year old when problem started. Lowes Service Contract is another problem but I will deal with that later.
When renovating my kitchen I went with all Whirlpool appliance. I have nothing but trouble with my fridge. About a year old we had to replace the motherboard at our expense. After having that done, about 6 months later I had to defrost it so it would work again. Now it has to be done every month. All they say we can book another service call at my expense again. All I say thank goodness I kept my old Frigidaire. It saved me more than once. So my advice is stay away from Whirlpool. They dont stand behind their products from my experience.
Smelled strange odor in laundry room area.. Noticed plastic panel to Whirlpool electric water heater controls was melting and immediately closed breaker to the heater.. After inspection of heater control panel, noticed all wiring damaged and burnt causing burning smell.
Bought this new in Oct 2012. A week back stopped working. After a week found out it needs new compressor and will cost 1,096.00. Paid 2,100 for this new and now need to buy another fridge but not this make.
Im no longer buying Whirlpool products. They do not all up and are made like crap. My Cabrio washer being the most recent problem. Hinges broke on the lid and the drum spring broke. Out the door it goes! Im having my American made Speed Queen delivered tomorrow, the last Speed Queen I owned last over 30 years.
Purchased side-by-side model fridge, and within a month, the ice-maker froze up. Within a year, the relay switch failed, and caused the compressor to fail. What a lemon. Also, the clear bins in the door of the fridge side, have all cracked. Whirlpool says it is a cosmetic issue, but I think it is hazard and a material processing failure during their manufacturing process. They obviously would not cover any cosmetic issues under the warranty.I was one of the lucky ones, at this point, as the repairs were under warranty (expensive compressor, only by one week), had to buy an extended warranty to cover me in the future. I was only out the cost of extended warranty, and a fridge full of food. Lucky me. Customer service is worthless for any issues. I dont think Ill buy another Whirlpool product again. Buyers beware.
I purchased the four-door Whirlpool stainless steel refrigerator. It was installed on the 15th of June. One month later, the ice was not coming through the dispenser and if it did, it was a small amount. During this time, I was receiving notices from them about purchasing an extended warranty. Today, August 23, 2012, the ice maker stopped working completely. I was disgusted. Paying for the top-of-the-line refrigerator that doesnt last for 90 days is ridiculous. Also, the handle on the vegetable keeps coming off. That will be the last Whirlpool appliance I will buy.
I own a Whirlpool Cabrio. I wanted a newer technology (no agitator) washer with top loading capabilities. I ended up with a four to five-year lifespan with this washer. The bearings are busted and it leaks water from the bottom. I have followed loading instructions specifically. It will cost about $1,000 to fix so of course, I am buying another washer and a matching dryer.
I have always loved the Whirlpool washer and dryer, namely because it is made in the USA, but the newer model Whirlpool is disappointing. The low water machines are not as effective as the older models. Even set on a 2 cycle rinse I get suds in the clothing. The spin cycle bunches up the clothing you can hardly shake them out before adding to the dryer.
I had purchased fully automatic top loaded WHIRLPOOL WM 360 BW PRO-HS 9.5 on 08/05/2019. I had purchased the above machine after going through the various claims made on the website. However, I regret to say that since installation I find that the performance of the machine is not up to my satisfaction. Even after two visits by the engineer, the following issues remain:(i) The machine makes lot of noise in the initial stage.(ii) Though the timer shows a particular time during selection of a washing cycle, in reality the machine takes one and half times more than the timing shown. In case one selects warm / hot water, the actual time taken is twice that shown or more. I am sure in winters it will take more time in case warm / hot water is selected.(iii) The clothes get badly entangled during wash.In the past I had a LG front loading washing machine which never gave me any problem. I had gone for the best top loading model of Whirlpool hoping for better performance but it has only caused problems. Not worth the expenditure.
We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Conns Appliances on 2/2/12. It worked fine until about 2 months ago. Then it started freezing food in the refrigerator. We called Conns, and they sent a technician to replace the thermostat. A couple of days later, it was still freezing food. So we called Conns again. They sent a second technician. He called Whirlpool tech support, and they told him to adjust the position of the thermostat sensor. A couple of more days went by, and food was still freezing. The problem had gotten even worse.I called the manager at Conns and suggested that we should consider replacement since the previous 2 technicians were unable to solve the problem. He sent a third technician. Tech #3 called Whirlpool tech support and re-adjusted the sensor. He said there wasnt a lot they could do and that if I wanted to get it replaced, I would need to call Whirlpool.I called Whirlpool Customer Service and explained everything that had happened. They told me they would need to send another technician. I asked why, since 3 technicians had already looked at it. She said there were different levels of service and they would have to send someone from their authorized service company, as if Conns is not authorized. I asked if this problem was common in this model of refrigerator. She said she could research that if I could hold, so I said ok. After being on hold for several minutes, she came back and said she couldnt find any record of this being a repetitive problem.I didnt have a thermometer, and I thought if I had more concrete evidence of the problem, then maybe they would replace the refrigerator. So I put a glass of water in the middle of the top shelf. Within 24 hours, it was frozen solid as an ice cube!Technician #4 came and called Whirlpool tech support. This time, they told him that this had been a problem ever since this model came out and they had a fix that had been on the books since day 1. So the customer service lady obviously lied to me. Technician #4 stuffed a piece of Styrofoam in the hole where the air comes from the freezer into the refrigerator and he re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. I asked if we could just replace the unit and be done with it, but he said we had to wait and see if his fix worked.I went to Ace Hardware and bought a refrigerator thermometer. Two days later, we had frozen strawberries, frozen lettuce, frozen milk, and even the meat and cheese were freezing. My thermometer said temperature was 32 degrees. I called Whirlpool back and insisted that they replace the refrigerator. They told me The unit was not authorized for replacement and they needed a 2nd opinion. I was very angry. I told them there had already been 4 opinions and a 5th wasnt necessary. I wasnt getting anywhere, so I asked for a supervisor. They transferred me to someone named Sue. Sue told me the same thing - not authorized, need a 2nd opinion. I told her that I work at The Mens Wearhouse and that if a customer spent that much money on a suit and had trouble with it, they certainly would not have to bring it back 5 times to have it re-tailored. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said, Sir, my supervisor doesnt speak to consumers. I could not believe my ears. Where would they be without consumers? I was so mad I hung up on her.Later, I realized I had no options and called to request the 2nd opinion. I was told that the technician could authorize the unit for replacement. They also told me I couldnt get a technician for a week because their technicians were all booked up repairing their faulty products. I had no choice but to wait. I moved my thermometer to the bottom of the refrigerator to see if the temperature was the same there as on the top. The temperature there fluctuated between 28 and 34 degrees. I called Conns to tell them the story, thinking maybe they would go to bat for one of their customers. They told me this should never have happened and that the matter should be escalated to their home office and that a manager would contact me within 30 minutes. He never called. Two days after that phone call, I went to Conns to speak to the manager. I told him the whole story and told him that if Whirlpool would not replace the refrigerator, then I would have no choice but to contact Discover (my payment method for the original purchase) and dispute the charges. I pointed out that even though it should be Whirlpool paying for it, his store would take the hit if Discover reversed the charges. He called someone and told me a Conns service manager would contact me within 48 hours.More waiting. Technician #5 came. I told him he was to authorize the unit for replacement. He said he couldnt do that and that Whirlpool tells all their customers that just to get them off the phone. He re-adjusted the temperature sensor and left. I was livid. Now the problem went the other way. The temperature wouldnt go below 50 degrees. We filled an ice chest with food and ice and began living out of it. The Conns service manager called and said he would have to send a technician. This would be #6. I was very angry with the service manager and called Discover to dispute the charges. Discover opened an investigation, sent a letter to Conns (and maybe Whirlpool, Im not sure) and issued a credit to my credit card account.#6 came and re-adjusted the thermostat sensor. The next morning, he called to see how it was doing. The temperature was still around 50 degrees. He wanted to come and adjust it again. I told him to get the unit replaced! So he submitted paperwork to request a replacement. He called back and said that he felt sorry for us because he knew we had a 3-month-old baby in the house. Since the replacement had been requested, Conns wouldnt pay him to come again; but he said he would come on his own time, on his lunch break, and readjust the sensor in hopes that it would get us by while we waited for a replacement. He said it might take 3-4 days to get the replacement. I told him he could come, so this was technical visit #7. He adjusted the sensor. The next day, the temperature was still 50 degrees.I called the service manager at Conns to confirm that they had requested the replacement. He said the paperwork was submitted, that the home office would review it, make a decision, and that we should know something in a couple of days. That was on Wednesday. On Monday afternoon, I called him again. He said the paperwork wasnt submitted to home office until Saturday and that he was expecting to hear from them by end of day Tuesday. In the meantime, we were still living out of an ice chest.I had already determined that Whirlpool wasnt going to help me, and now, Conns was giving me the runaround. That afternoon, I was working on a project at work with a lady who was fairly new in our company. Turns out she used to work at the Conns home office and she knew people in high places there. She called a VP on my behalf. The next morning, I got a call from the VP telling me that I could get a replacement. I dont think I would have gotten my replacement if I hadnt bumped into the lady who used to work at Conns.I called Conns store, and they said a credit had been issued and I could come to the store and pick out whatever I wanted up to the amount of the credit. I knew I didnt want another Whirlpool. The selection was very limited, but I found a Frigidaire that I thought might work. Then they told me I would have to pay extra for an ice maker, even though I had bought the ice maker for the Whirlpool that was being replaced. I argued with the manager until finally he agreed to give me the ice maker, delivery, and installation.Yesterday, Conns called to tell me they were coming in the afternoon to install the refrigerator. They had the audacity to ask me what was the matter with the unit they were replacing! They did come and replace the unit. But wait...Thats not all! This morning, the ice maker had not made any ice, even after running all night long. Conns sent a technician today, and he said all of the parts were not installed and it was preventing proper water flow. He is coming back on Tuesday to install the missing parts. So we still arent done. I dont know if Im more angry with Whirlpool or with Conns. Whirlpool did not honor their warranty and Conns got stuck with it. But then Conns provided poor service too. I got stuck in the middle, and it still isnt fully resolved.
It is my belief that through my experience that most Gas Range manufacturers mainly Whirlpool corporation purposely designs the stove igniter part to fail in 5-10 years. They do this in hope the consumer will purchase a new stove. The igniter in my stove has failed 6 times since I purchased it in 2005. I have had to replace it at my expense each time. The last time it failed, I asked Whirlpool if they would do a good faith gesture and replace it. They very rudely refused. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance again and encourage others to follow me. If they give me this much grief over a simple good faith gesture, I can only imagine the difficulties in getting them to honor a warranty claim!
We purchased this refrigerator towards the end of 2008. The entire interior of the refrigerator is imploding. The plastic Whirlpool used to frame the glass shelves is cracking and shards are falling off. There are 3 drawers; one has already fallen because the plastic sliders the drawer moves along has disintegrated. We noticed the small hairline cracks appearing some time ago but never thought they would go to this extreme. Apparently the plastic used cannot stand up to cold temperatures.I contacted Whirlpools chat and was told that the product is out of warranty and I need to place a service call to get new parts. I proceeded to email the CEO of Whirlpool, Mr. Fettig because I dont believe I should have to pay for a service call when its a manufacturing problem. I received a call the day after and was told the same thing; that they are sorry we are experiencing a problem but the warranty only covers the first year. I was told that if there was a problem with the plastic being inferior that they should have cracked in the first year. I responded that the cracks may have been occurring early on in the back of the refrigerator which is the coldest part but were noticeable. Its very frustrating because a refrigerator purchase is expensive and not something that I planned on doing a mere 5 years later. I believe that Whirlpool at the very least could have shown goodwill towards their customers and given at least some discount on the replacement parts or at the very least a certificate with an amount off toward the purchase of a new refrigerator. Its a win-win situation for everyone because the customer is still happy with their Whirlpool refrigerator and/or it guarantees repeat business for Whirlpool. Apparently Whirlpool doesnt care about keeping customers happy and want and/or need repeat business. Its the last Whirlpool I will ever purchase!!!
Our 27 cubic foot BLACK French Door refrigerator is freezing up again for the 4 or is it 5 time. We are now told they will give us a replacement and to go to the website and find what we want. The website lists DISCONTINUED fridges. Called their RUDE rep and found out only can get a Smaller, stainless steel ONLY refrigerator. So is that how they work, sell crappy refrigerators and then replace with a lesser refrigerator, which most likely will break down too. SHAME ON WHIRLPOOL. Or is it DEADPOOL. Your reputation is shot. We will NEVER purchase another piece of junk from you!!!
Plate in front of the door that is at the back of the water dispenser bowed out. Company will not fix even if the refrigerator is not a year old yet. Said it only covers things like this for thirty days. Do not buy a refrigerator that Whirlpool will not stand behind.
