I was doing a routine refrigerator cleaning and the glass I was cleaning absolutely shattered all over my kitchen. Shards of glass are everywhere including my disposal. I called Whirlpool and talked to a customer service rep. Of course, this is not under warranty. So I asked to speak with a supervisor. All I could get from her is Sorry, youre disappointed. We can replace that part for $87.71. It has taken me over two hours to clean up all the glass. I wouldnt be upset if I had mishandled the glass, but it broke when I was drying it with a towel! I’m wondering if anyone elses glass shattered in the same fashion.
I purchased a Whirlpool Gold side-by-side Refrigerator on June 15, 2013. The freezer works fine but the refrigerator does not feel that cold and when I put a thermometer in there, it reads 42-43 deg although the refrigerator is set at 37 deg. The tech was just here and told me to put a thermometer in a glass of water and read it again. His thermometer read 46 deg when reading a bottle in the door although he explained that he had had the door opened for a while during his visit. He said his reading of the bottle upon opening the door was 36 deg. I do not believe that. I just measured some bottled water temperature and it was 48 deg. I have a hard time believing the temp went up 12 degrees and he has been gone for a half hour. My food is cold but not like you expect from a refrigerator. My bottled water and soda, etc., are not very cold. The worst is the water dispenser. That water is barely cooler than tap water. There is almost no difference. The water temperature has been in the 60s when Ive measured it. The tech says the first glass wont be cold (have never had that with any other refrigerator) but even if you get the second and third glasses of water, they arent any colder... maybe a couple of degrees. If anyone else is having this problem and Whirlpool will do nothing, then Im interested in legal action.
If you are searching for a top freezer refrigerator that works and keeps the food cold, do not buy this brand. I recently ordered a brand new refrigerator from Home Depot, the Whirlpool brand. It was set to standard factory settings, and I let it sit plugged in for 24 hours as required. The fridge was remaining in between 45 to 50°F, and I let it run for another 24 hours after filing a complaint and talking to the people at Whirlpool. The fridge still cannot get beneath 40°F, though the freezer seems to be okay. I spent almost $1000 on the refrigerator, and I’m very disappointed in the quality that this supposedly good brand produces. I went on Facebook marketplace, found an old 1995 Kenmore and bought it for $50. It works so much better than this brand new, fancy looking refrigerator, because back decades ago is when they actually took the time to make quality products, and didn’t make the crap that they do now that breaks down instantly or after only a few years. Unfortunately, and my researching has confirmed this, appliance manufacturers today create bad quality products that break down shortly in order that you will have to purchase more of their products after only a few years. Refrigerators used to last decades, now you’d be lucky if they lasted maybe 8 to 10 years. Trust me on this, don’t waste your time on this brand. A refrigerator should have no problem on factory settings getting at or below 40°F within 24 hours. DON’T BUY THIS JUNK!
I bought a Whirlpool fridge 4/23/2013. Thanksgiving it went out. I had a repair company come look at it to see how much it would be to repair. He said the compressor was out, it has a freon leak, and the electric board has a relay that is acting up. Basically it would cost $600 or more to fix. I only paid $750, mind you. Whirlpool customer service said if we pay to have it fixed then send them the paid receipt. They would then give me a 6 month service plan for future repairs if needed. Please tell me how that helps me now? A voucher for $200 or offer something to help me now. Not a happy customer. Thanks for nothing Whirlpool.
The refrigerator is a Whirlpool Model #GSC25C6EYW0. We purchased it on September 17, 2013. So far we had to fix the ice maker, the drawer broke, the refrigerator cools unevenly. They tried to fix it but cant. Therefore, I cannot put tall things on the top shelf. Now it is not cooling and I have to repair or replace it.
I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator from Home Depot. It didn work. I had to wait for a week to get a new fridge.. I also bought the 5 year warranty -- its not worth the ink its written with. MAYTAG DOES NOT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY DONT KNOW A THING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I have not had any problems with my Whirlpool refrigerator. It is four years old and has had two owners, including myself. It has the stainless steel look and has top to bottom french doors, one side is the freezer and the other the refrigerator. Both sides are equally the same size. It has a filtered water dispenser and ice maker in the door. Id say for the price it is a really good value.
Purchased a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator model #ED5KVEXVB07 in July 2012 from Sears for about $1000. Unit quit cooling late Dec 2014. I did not purchase the extended warranty, so the Whirlpool 1 year warranty was all I had. The repair technician (local company, not from Whirlpool directly) told me that the compressor had seized up, and the repair would be at least $300. I thought Id call Whirlpool just to see if theyd be willing to do anything for me. Long story short: No. I told the person on the phone: “I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.” She said: “Im very sorry about that.” After I hung up, I thought: If Whirlpool was really sorry, theyd stand behind their products for a part that should not fail after only 2.5 years.
I purchased new and installed my heater in 2003. SN: 0253109845, MN: EE3J50RD0454. I started removing and replacing or cleaning heating elements in 2011: pretty good service. In 2015 I noticed black and brown water coming from the hot water taps. I opened it again, cleaned it, and realized anode replacement was required. That is when trouble started.I tried everything usual including 4 foot cheater bar, heating the coupling, impact wrench, tapping with a hammer, etc. Finally found a 700 ft-lb. pneumatic impact wrench on sale at Harbor Freight. After serious wear and tear on my air compressor and about 1-1/2 hours of work with the impact wrench, I got it out. The threads were messed up some, but I did not look close. I had to put the 1-1/4 inch head back in to return it to service while I found and ordered an anode. Could not get one from Whirlpool and could not buy one in Lowes where I bought the heater. The surprise was when I cleaned the threads to put the head back in, I had to use almost as much time and torque to get it to stop leaking as I did when I took it out. Then, when I did try to install the new anode, it required to same effort. Conclusion, There was some kind of imperfection with the threads in the coupling that messed up the threads on the initial installation of the anode, which made it nearly impossible to remove. Whirlpools quality control stinks. The next one will NOT be Whirlpool.
It is a new model side by side with water and ice maker. The temperature is very uneven, inside it has surprisingly little storage room in both fridge and freezer. Very difficult to fit food in due to awkward spaces. Would not buy again or recommend.
Whirlpool refrigerators with bottom freezers have a major defect in a tiny drainage hole hidden inside the back panel. The hole easily gets blocked with bits of debris during manufacturing or with a few bread crumbs, then it freezes shut. Then water ends up all over your floor. You cannot fix it yourself as you have to take apart the whole freezer. The repair bill is huge. This will happen often. Check on the internet and YouTube to verify & you will see that this happens to everyone with a Whirlpool. Also your floor will be ruined if you dont mop it up every few days until the repairman arrives! Stay away from Whirlpool!!
This refrigerator is less than 1 yr. Old and this repair will be the FOURTH. The severe lack of craftsmanship and customer service is shocking! Most states do not have lemon laws for appliances, however something needs to be done to compensate me for THE TIME and inconvenience this caused my family. I needed to purchase a second compact refrigerator because I knew that it would break down again!
I have never posted a negative product review but must do so now. The refrigerator is 1 1/2 years old at most and has been well taken care of. I noticed today that the finish at either side of the bottom of each refrigerator door handle has a problem. I couldnt tell if the finish was pitting or is just discolored. I called customer service and expected that they would help, especially since we have an extended warranty. Representative number one told me that the extended warranty only covers problems that affect the function of the product. I spoke to her supervisor and then her supervisor. I got plenty of apologies but no support. I offered to send pictures, but they were not even interested in checking out the problem. After speaking to them, I took the handle off and I see now that the handle cut into some sort of film that exists on the metal. (I am not talking about the protective plastic coating that is on the the refrigerator at delivery.) The film is lifting off the surface and creating discoloration. If Whirlpool was at all concerned, I think this issue could be fixed with some sort of gasket to keep the metal handle from cutting into the surface. Im hoping the problem is static, but hard to say what will happen. If they had been interested in trying to understand the cause of the problem, it would have been easier to accept the limitations of the warranty. It would have demonstrated an interest in avoiding this problem for other consumers in the future. My last Whirlpool product. Period. Good luck if you decide to do business with them.
My new refrigerator was purchased in December 2016. The black finish was scratched by the installers wiping off their hand prints. The retailer offered to replace the doors which happened two months later. The black finish scratched IMMEDIATELY while cleaning of the installers fingerprints, using a silk microfiber towel though it looks like the cleaning was done with steel wool pads. I called Whirlpool and the retailer. Whirlpool says to order more replacement doors. Ha! Ha! I have had black appliances since 2000 in another home and there was NEVER a problem cleaning them. I do not recommend WHIRLPOOL because of this problem with the stability of the black finish. I dont have a receipt or order number because the suite of appliances was purchased by the condo association, not me personally. But I can attest to the condition of the marred finish and the ludicrous solution provided by WHIRLPOOL customer service... order more doors. I guess youd have to do that every week after you clean the front of the refrigerator.
Im yet another angry customer who is dealing with a defective Whirlpool hot water heater purchased from Lowe’s, still under warranty, and it failed. The thermocouple appears to have failed and, amazingly, the part is nonstandard in that it screws in backwards compared to every other HW heater. Lowe’s doesnt carry the part even though they sold the HW heater. When I contacted Whirlpool, they agreed the part is under warranty and will send one, but I have to pay shipping for a minimum of $10 and a week to wait, plus having to get the part installed. Obviously, I am one of many who bought this defective appliance. Whirlpool used to be a good company, but Ill tell everyone to avoid them in the future. Meanwhile, I have no hot water and its freezing in Cincinnati.
We purchase Whirlpool fridge less than a year ago. Its still under guaranteed. 2 months ago we notice the fridge part heating up and food was going off. I went back to the shop where we purchase the fridge. They said we had to contact Whirlpool direct so we did had to wait 3 weeks for someone to come and look at it. Fridge is not repairable. Fella who came out did not report back to Whirlpool. I was waiting and waiting to hear word. I rang to see what was the story on it and eventually they said O we will exchanged your fridge and we will ring you on delivery date. Now Im over 2 month waiting on a fridge. Whirlpool is a joke. The company should be put out of business for what they do to honest people buying their stuff, and people who are in the same boat as me should go to the high court and sue them for all the stress they put people through. Shame on you Whirlpool. Disgrace.
This is our 3rd repair in 13 months and now my 4 and 1/2 year old son and I both suffered bacterial food poisoning on this 3rd round. It has been a complete nightmare. Then we found out until last month, they were completely replacing the entire refrigerator. Then they stopped that and are just replacing the parts again. Now there is a back order of the parts and not to put any food in there or we will get sick again. The repair itself will take 4 hours whenever they get the parts in and another 1/2 day to take off work. We are building a house and have bought the entire gold series line of crap that is sitting in boxes in our garage. NOW WHAT WHIRLPOOL?
I Wish I had reviewed this refrigerator sooner. I bought a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser in the door in 2016. Problem #1: Water leaks from the water dispenser and dribbles down the front of the door. I am as vigilant as I can be about wiping up the spills, but over time it has left a water stain. Stainless steel is not stainless! Problem #2: The freezer is too narrow. Too many frozen items that come packaged in boxes have to be wedged into it or stood on end. Problem #3: Ice cubes sometimes randomly drop out of the dispenser and melt on my hardwood floor. Problem #4: Even though the water is filtered, mineral deposits have built upon the well that collects the drips and I have yet to find any product that cleans it. It looks horrible and filthy. If Id had any idea how awful this appliance would look after just a couple of years, I would have been in contact with Whirlpool immediately.
We purchased our Whirlpool refrigerator in 2010. A year or two after the purchase the side walls, draws, and shelves all started to crack open. We asked whirlpool to send new parts. They sent one and that cracked also. We will never buy from them again.
Whirlpool GX5FHDXVB03 french door refrigerator: Continual water leaks. Condensation freezes in bottom of freezer compartment then leaks out on to floor. Per repairman, this is a common problem with this model which theyll come out and fix (remove ice and run hot water done drain line for a cost nearly $150) but it will happen again and again, etc. I cant tell you how many times weve had to perform this task. This is an engineering design defect that Whirlpool should fix.
I purchased a stainless steel side by side refrigerator and unbelievably the doorshelves came crashing down - they just cracked in the middle. How cheap can stuff be made, those fridges are not cheap. I thought Whirlpool was a good product - I guess not.
Whirlpool freezerless refrigerator quit after 17 months. Bought it brand new. APPLIANCE INFORMATION. Merchandise REFRIGERATOR. Brand Name WHIRLPOOL. Model Number WRR56X18FW02. Serial Number U90502841. Highly disappointed!
My son purchased the Whirlpool 2 door w/ icemaker about 3 years ago. Twice weve had a repairman here. Yesterday was the 2nd one. He tried 3 ways to get liquid to go through a round coil I could see at the back. He said the problem was between the two back panels (back of fridge & inside wall) where there was a tubing to release the water from defrost cycle. It appears to be a manufacturing problem. I am very upset! It should be replaced at the very least.
Bought side by side in 2010 and after the first 3 mth the ice maker jammed up. Found out the dispenser door was not working right so it was change. But lo and behold the dame thing jammed up again within 3 weeks and the door is working. I will never buy WHIRLPOOL AGAIN. I hope they go out of Business. They are selling junk and they do not care. Made in American. Pack your bags Whirlpool. You are no longer needed.
French door style leaking water on the floor. Is Whirlpool covering the repair?
We purchase a French door refrigerator model G16SARXXF04 3 years ago with extend warranty and since 7/3/15 stop cooling making ice. Then 3 repair person came each week, 1 week later from the Lowes Warranty Dept. With no solution they replace the main panel, the ice maker. And again 8/14/15 stop working and 4 times I am losing the food. And this last time my husbands medicine which very expensive got damage and cannot use. They are coming again but anytime I take food out to dispose. Couple of day later the refrigerator start cooling so when the repair person comes say cannot do anything because is cooling. They are not giving solution. Call Whirlpool, same. And I am sick and disgusted!!! Dont buy Whirlpool.
GX5FHTXVQ03 - Our whirlpool refrigerator/freezer has been leaking from the freezer for a couple of years (purchased in 2011). An ice sheet builds up in the freezer unit, then leaks out. We have gone through countless attempts to defrost and correct, disconnecting the ice maker, and a replacement part that accomplished nothing. I see online numerous people have experienced this same problem. It appears to be a design defect. Made another call to Whirlpool today. They are willing to schedule a service call for us... at our expense. Gee, thanks! Hey, but they are sorry about our warped oak hardwood floor. That sure makes me feel better. WE WILL NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL AGAIN!
Model # WRF990SLAM00 Ser# K23919328 - It should be possible to rate this piece of junk zero stars!! Purchased on Feb 2013, it is driving me and my wife insane. It is noisy compressor wise all the time (Our kitchen and living room in the townhouse are one room). The problems started after the hurricane in 2016 killed our power for three days. I had to shut the refrigerator down to manually defrost the freezer section because the fan on the fan-coil was hitting a huge accumulation of ice. Then the weird blackouts started approx once per month where the panel light as well as the interior lights went on and off every minute with that dreadful BEEP. This went on for over 24 hrs and made living in the same room HELL. The beep and three clicks happen every minute and the cooling is none. Whirlpool service came ($80.00) just to look at it and will come back with the rest of the bill which probably will be astronomical. I feel cheated big time!! Minute and the cooling has worsened big time. Whirlpool service came ($ 80.00) just to look at it and stated it needs a new computer board as well as a new front panel on the left door.
Hello, Here is our story. We bought this refrigerator Whirlpool - 26.2 Cu. Ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator through a local reputable retailer. After 16 months we started to have problems with ice melting in the ice bin. We continued to have problems related to cooling/freezing within the refrigerator to the point where almost all the major parts were replaced. The good news is the dealer negotiated with Whirlpool to have all repair costs covered after the first visit. I asked about just getting us a new refrigerator and was told Whirlpool requires a part to be replaced 3 (THREE) TIMES before consideration. In summary, the refrigerator could not be fixed and was condemned in agreement with both Whirlpool and the Dealer. Here is the interesting news - since the refrigerator was out of warranty (12 months and now we are at 18 months), they are requiring we pay $600+ for the replacement. Buyer beware - either pay for the extended warranty or risk having to be inconvenienced by having your refrigerator unavailable for days or in our case, weeks!
I have just had one of the worst experiences with any appliance warranty repair service of my life. I rarely complain but strongly feel the company needs to make some changes. They have no repair folks less than 50 miles away from the dealer (and my home). Their refrigerator was sold to me with the understanding that such a service was available as part of the purchase price. Ha! The repairman referred wiggled out of the time assigned to him. Another repair referral will take weeks. The unit is a piece of junk and is malfunctioning in less than a year. When, and if, any repair person comes to my home they will find it in the garage with the rest of my junk.
We purchased a KitchenAid KFIS29PBMS00 in August of 2013. By March of 2014 it had stopped freezing and producing ice. Sent out a technician (mind you each technician has to come twice, once to diagnose and then to repair). They determined that all of the panels and ice maker needed replaced. Did so with no resolution. Placed another call. This technician determined that the compressor was bad. Installed a new one on April 10th. The fridge worked for 30 days. Stopped freezing and producing ice. Placed the 3rd service call. Was told that the new compressor was bad. Technician showed up on June 5th to replace it but did not have one with him. He was told by Whirlpool that they had discovered a wiring problem and that if the Serial number begins with K322 -K335 yours is one of them. We are K324. He ran a serious tests and contacted Whirlpool. I was told it is not in Whirpools hands. LUCKY ME NOT. It is now June 19th, I have made 2 additional calls to KitchenAid after not hearing anything back was told that I was in the process of receiving a new fridge and that I would get a phone call. After nothing I called back again. After 47 minutes I was transferred to a Supervisor. According to her while we were on the phone, she ordered a new refrigerator. No upgrade, compensation or a care in the world for the consumer. I will NEVER purchase a Whirlpool appliance again. I expect to have to call back again.
This series is a complete dud. We purchased a home in 2015 that had a Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator. The home was built in 2013 and appliances were brand new. The majority of our neighbors, whose homes also contained this refrigerator, have had to repair or replace this model. None of the homes in my neighborhood are older than 4 years. We will not be purchasing anything Whirlpool associated in the future.
I have a double door bottom freezer refrigerator manufactured by whirlpool. It is less than 2 years old and is an absolute piece of garbage! In less than a year the noise started, then the freezer became a refrigerator and my frozen stuff melted. I had a local technician come in and he fixed it but he indicated that the fix would not likely correct the problem. Sure enough, about 6 months later the same problem started all over again. Nowadays one is never sure where a product is manufactured. However, if Whirlpool had their products made by chimpanzees in the jungle they would be better than the pieces of trash they are now selling!
Bought a Whirlpool Gold stainless steel refrigerator and the thermostat didnt work after a couple months of use. Lost all the product in the refrigerator and freezer and whirlpool would not compensate us. They did pay for the $29 part because it was under warranty but still think it was completely their fault for putting a defective thermostat in it. Last night the relay on the circuit breaker stopped working and I again lost all my refrigerated food overnight. This time it is not under warranty because the warranty was only good for one year. So, I just paid $314.03 to have it repaired. So angry that I spent so much money on 4 Whirlpool Gold products when I remodeled my kitchen.
My side-by-side refrigerator leaks water. I find water on the floor but we cant find the source. When I called Whirlpool, they stated its not under warranty, but we can schedule a repair appointment, I declined. Im still looking for the leak. Its intermittent, sometimes I dont see water for a while. The last fridge we had, we had to get rid of it because the sides and front got too hot to the touch. I was afraid it would cause a fire.
I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator model GSF26C5EXW02 from Lowes. It is a huge piece of crap that has had so many visits from the Royal Appliance guy, that we are now on a first name basis. Lowes was awesome and has actually replaced this junker twice at no cost to me and has, in fact, reimbursed me for all the food this fridge has ruined by freezing. The appliance repair guy cant seem to find a problem so I just keep getting ruined food because of this hunk of junk.
I have owned a Whirlpool Gold refrigerator since 2011. It has required two repair calls due to a water leak. The company did repair it free of charge on the second visit even though it was out of warranty. It is now leaking again which has caused damage to my wood floor and basement ceiling tiles. I am told that I have pay for the repairs this time even though it is the same problem. I was offered a modest discount to purchase a new refrigerator. I will never buy another Whirlpool product. This refrigerator should be recalled. I recommend GE products. They stand behind their products and they last a lot longer. Shame on Whirlpool! So many complaints with very little response .
After months of careful research and comparison, I finally bought a pricey (over $2K) Whirlpool refrigerator with a bottom freezer and French doors with water dispenser on top. I really did not want any fancy features, just narrow doors because of my small kitchen, and a fridge on top because of my back pain. Since the date of purchase in May, 2014, I have had 4 service calls. The first was covered under warranty, but no cause of the sheet of ice collection and underside water leakage was identified; I did, however, receive a somewhat patronizing lecture on the importance of thorough reading and comprehension of the owners manual, and a statement that most of my service calls are for customer education. A follow-up service call, a few weeks later and also covered under warranty, identified the cause of the ice collection and water leakage: a faulty duck bill little piece of plastic in the drainage system that is a problem well known to Whirlpool. In mid-June of 2015, the ice maker had to be replaced, to the tune of $360.00. Today, I had a service call ($103.00) and received an estimate of $405.50 to replace the broken freezer drawer slides, which prevent the freezer drawer from fully closing. I will be applying that $405.50 to the purchase of the simplest model, non-Whirlpool refrigerator available, and have the Whirlpool hauled away. Besides the problems noted above, the center of the refrigerator freezes the food, while the freezer compartment arbitrarily defrosts. There are alarm icons that go from blue to red to alert you of the need to replace the (expensive) ice and water filter, refrigerator air filter and crisper freshener. Alarm bells ring to inform you that the doors have been open too long, but nothing alerts you to the fact that the freezer door is not completely shut, or that the freezer has gone into defrost mode because someone inadvertently brushed up against the control panel and changed the settings, or that water is pouring freely out from underneath the appliance. I have had to change my buying habits because fridge holds at least 15% less food, even though it is the same cubic footage as my previous (top freezer) one. Freezer contents easily slip down behind the top freezer drawer and jam the door open. I have to take most frozen boxed items out of their original containers and pack them flat in freezer bags to get enough storage. Some tall bottles do not fit anywhere in the refrigerator compartment, and have to get put in sideways. Even in the absence of mechanical problems, using this refrigerator is like packing and unpacking a suitcase many times a day. While Whirlpool customer service personnel were not overtly rude, there were dismissive and condescending overtones in some of the questions and directives I received from them, and another insinuation that service calls would not be covered under warranty if they end up being for the purpose of customer education. The extended wait (7+ days) for appointments with a Whirlpool-certified appliance repair company, along with the customer education exclusion, were absolute deterrents to the purchase of the extended warranty. Besides my personal disappointment and disgust with the purchase of this appliance, I am sad to see that the Whirlpool brand has slipped so far in product design, quality and customer support.
My Whirlpool French Door refrigerator will have its TWO year old birthday on September 15, 2015.. only if it lives that long! On August 8, one month and one week short of its 2nd birthday the compressor died. Of course the manufacturers warranty expired after one year. Thankfully, I purchased an extended warranty through the retailer. While this will cover my repairs, there is nothing that will cover the hundreds of dollars worth of spoiled frozen and refrigerated products which had to be discarded. I will NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT!
I received this Email from the Whirlpool Director of Consumer Care to evaluate my experience with their customer service department. I filled out the survey over a week ago including a complete documentation of my problems and have not even received an acknowledgment of the survey or promise to look into my problems. In the last 7 months I have experienced problems with 2 Whirlpool major appliances which both appear to be unrepairable and which have been unsuccessfully brought to the attention of your customer support group. In March a fridge and in October a clothes washer. Both were high end products roughly 3 to 4 years old. I did not have an extended warranty with the fridge so I dealt directly with the customer support group. However I was covered by warranty with the washer and your distributor Bad Boy have been making the calls on my behalf but have been just as disappointed to date as I was. Both cases were very similar. In both cases the repairman came out within a few days and promised to return the following week with the broken part but I have never heard from either one of them EVER. In the case of the fridge I was told to defrost it the day before the promised repair date and lost all the food $$$. At this stage a number of calls went out from me to Whirlpool for the fridge and from Bad Boy for the washer and eventually we both got a new delivery date of roughly one month. Both times the date passed with no shows and no call backs. Repeated calls later to the customer service group, with promises of EXPEDITING the delivery, the fridge part delivery date was extended to 3 months so we had no choice but to buy a new fridge. As for the washer, Bad Boy even had an unsuccessful face to face meeting with your representatives and we have had no word back or expected delivery dates well into the third month.I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO? I have made so many calls with so few call backs and no clue what to expect or when? Your representatives use the word expedite with no idea what the word means. At the suggestion of one of your representatives I even called one of your distributors Sears to see if they had the part. Their Canadian head office is in the Philippines and they said they had the same problem with Whirlpool. Twice I tried to talk with your representatives supervisor and both times were unsuccessful. In a world of computers where it should take seconds to find inventory parts and expediting packages usually refers to next day delivery, the fact Whirlpool requires months is unbelievable. The only explanations I can come up with is 1- You dont make parts for your appliances. 2- New appliances are made so poorly all parts are gone. 3- You could not care less about your customers. 4- You dont own a computer. Most of our appliances are Whirlpool because we thought you had a good reputation. We had to purchase a new fridge and still have had no word on the washer?
On April 17th mid morning I noticed that the freezer side was not keeping items Frozen. Everything was melting period. I then opened up the refrigerator side all the items are not as cool as they should be. I then proceeded to do a Google search to see what I should check for in regards to the freezer and the refrigerator side not keeping cool. I then proceeded to pull the refrigerator out to inspect the back of the refrigerator. When I did that I noticed there was a hot mark on my wall, as well as a huge it burn mark on my floor. I then unplug to the refrigerator do the huge fire hazard and I touched my floor and it was very hot to the touch.I called my stepfather who is a firefighter and had him come over right away. He said we needed to take the refrigerator outside right away because the compressor had overheated and that is why it started to burn my floor. He then went to the fire station and got a heat sensor check machine, and we checked my wall and floor and we had to make sure that it was cooling down so it did not start my floor boards on fire so then we had to put a fan on it to cool it down. I then went and purchased a new refrigerator, due to this one was no longer able to be used or repaired. The refrigerator was only four years and 5 months old. For a $1,300 refrigerator it should last longer than 4 years.I called Whirlpool the following day or two days later and regards to this issue. The only thing they could tell me is that they were sorry, this refrigerator almost started my home on fire and we have six children a family of 8. It ruined my floor and part of my wall in my kitchen and we have lost a few hundred dollars and groceries. This is ridiculous and not the first time, I read a few others having this issue, Whirlpool said they have never received any complaints in regards to the refrigerator burning the floor and does not see it as a fire hazard at all.
I have a rental home and my residence, I have purchased a fridge for BOTH places. Within 1.5 years, both of the fridges shelving cracked. Customer service will not do anything to remedy this. It is a known issue with his model of appliance. There are numerous complaints and they DO NOT stand behind heir product. NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL.
Bought a Whirlpool refrigerator and now it is dead after only 3 years - the gas is gone. The Dealer at Budget Appliance Surrey told us it was not a good fridge to begin with (but sold it to us for $900.00) and that Whirlpool had made a lot of fridges cheaply to begin with... So it was not their (Budgets) fault. When I contacted Whirlpool they were really too big to listen to my complaint and even though I had the receipt, they did not care to hear my complaint either. Never buy a Whirlpool fridge.
I have used Whirlpool products for over 30 yrs. This is the worst made product I have ever purchased. The ice maker doesnt produce very much ice. The cold water on door isnt cold. There is too much wasted space in freezer and refrig. side. You cannot get anyone to call you back to call for help. I contacted Whirlpool over a month ago. No return call yet. Consumers beware!! Model no. WSF26C3EXF01.
I bought a refrigerator from Lowe’s and the refrigerator had a lot of manufacturing defects. I called Whirlpool and 3 techs were sent to my house. After the last tech, Whirlpool decided to exchange the refrigerator. Since then, Whirlpool has been playing games with me.
Bought a Whirlpool French door refrigerator in March 2014 and have had to have it serviced 4 times now - all for the same issue. We get frost in the refrigerator (not the freezer, the refrigerator). The same parts keep being replaced but they are all defective. This last time the service tech said he contacted Whirlpool and they had a redesigned part that should take care of it. Within 3 days of the new part being installed the frost is back. The other issue is the loud noise of the compressor. We have had multiple Whirlpool products through the years, but this is the last.
How would you like to be without a refrigerator for 10+ days? How do you justify 10 days without a service tech being available for what I call an emergency! Either you need to hire more technicians or make BETTER products. My suggestion is have a supervisor go out to a call first and access the problem. My case, a tech shows up after waiting 10 days, to tell me my refrigerator needs all the parts. Which means Ill have to wait probably another 2-3 weeks for the parts to arrive. Im sure the parts werent ordered to be expedited. Im beyond furious. We lost everything in our freezer. Doesnt stay frozen in coolers. When we purchased the refrigerator, just under two years ago, the service tech was out three separate times because our ice maker kept going on the blink. Finally, I purchased ice maker, because your refrigerator only makes ice when it wants. Not reliable! Second problem, the lights in refrigerator & freezer went out. Real smart to install LED lights that can only be replaced by a technician. Insane for the consumer. (Cost of lights replaced w/o warranty contract is $100). DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU ENJOY MISERY!!Why would you put glossy black finish on front of refrigerator, and the sides have black texture, where you cant see fingerprints. Has to be cleaned daily! Hope you can rectify the problem before two more weeks pass. Model: WRS322FDAB. SERIAL#: HR72710418. Not a fan of your lemon of refrigerator. You can also view this on your customer reviews WHIRLPOOL.
We purchased the unit in March, by April it wasnt cooling. In June it shut down. In July after 8 tech appointments and repairs. Whirlpool finally said they would refund my purchase and I should see the money in about three weeks. That would be about a week longer than the refrigerator worked. I dont have the money to just get another one so I guess the family will be without a refrigerator for another month. That means shopping every day for perishable for a family of 10. I would not recommend another Whirlpool product. This is no joke, every time I called them one of the first things asked was Did you get the extended warranty? Why would they ask, sounds as if they dont trust their own product either. This unit was purchase online through Sears.com. Purchase price was $2299.99. Order placed on March 4, 2017.
First, I was put on hold by the first female for 44 minutes, and then a second woman finally answered, and said she didnt know why she would send me to her, because she was in the sales department, and she put me on hold for another 25 minutes. I finally had to go, because I had an appointment. When I got home, I called back, and got a man by the name of John, and at least he recommended he could schedule a repairman. The problem I told him is, the inside wall of my refrigerator has 2 cracks on the side, and a crack on the back wall. I dont want a repairman to come, just to tell me he cant put 2 new walls inside of my refrigerator. I could not find an email, so I could email Whirlpool about this problem, and definitely, they were of no help. I bought the refrigerator at Lowes late 2003. I have never, in my life, seen the inside walls of a fridge do this. I spent a lot of money for this, for it to crack on the inside walls. It does not seem like something is right with this.
I purchased a Whirlpool Gold top freezer refrigerator (G2IXEFMWQ03) in May 2011. Six months later, the freezer began to collect frost and eventually clogged the refrigerator port from freezer. Since cold air from the freezer was not going to fridge, I had to turn down the refrigerator temp to lowest setting. I had a service person come out and replace Adaptive Defrost Control under warranty - it would have cost me around $250. Now roughly 12 months after repair, the defrost issue is back. The part cost me $175, and that is if I install it myself. I called and mailed Whirlpool which was a waste of time. This is the last Whirlpool I plan to purchase. For the same issue to occur in this short time span, it has engineering flaw written all over it.
Whirlpool refrigerator stopped working after two years of ownership. The back of the freezer compartment will ice up, stops cooling and makes a loud grinding noise. We expected a much longer life in a brand new refrigerator. Our extended warranty plan has not provided a replacement or comparable credit for a new refrigerator. We have been without a refrigerator for over a 1 1/2 months. Very unpleasant during the holiday season!!! I would never recommend buying a Whirlpool product of any kind.
Do not buy a Whirlpool refrigerator. This is the 3rd time I have to call in repair for the ice maker in 4 years. Water poured out on my floor for the 3rd time ruining my floors. Called Whirlpool and said there is nothing they can do to help me. They don’t care about their Customers! I could have bought a new one by now based on repair costs. They don’t back their products. I’m really annoyed now!
I recently purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator, model number WRT351SFYB00. Several months later, I noticed a small amount of water on my kitchen floor. I moved the refrigerator and found the hard wood floor under it had been completely ruined, so the leak had obviously been going on for a long time. Possibly since day one. I called a repair man. He identified the leak was coming from a cracked drip tray which was not uncommon. However, much to his surprise, due to the design of this model, he was unable to remove and replace the tray. He explained there was a metal panel bolted in place that was preventing him from replacing it. He said this panel was also bolted to the compressor. Therefore, the best he could do was caulk whatever cracks he found in the existing tray and hope for the best. It goes without saying he could not guarantee his work like he normally does.I noticed this same complaint on a user forum website on Appliancepartspros.com, so this refrigerator obviously has a significant design flaw. My repairman said if it was his refrigerator, hed get rid of it, and also indicated that after seeing this, hed never again recommend Whirlpool to anyone. All I know is that Whirlpool is permanently off of my list now as well.
55 Gal Electric New in 2003 / Limited Lifetime Warranty - I paid quite a bit more initially at Lowes for this unit. Its stainless lined. I have had numerous problems since purchase. I had to replace the sensing element in the Smart Box in 2006. Then the lights started flashing again making a humming sound in the box. I took each piece apart in smart box and cleaned them, which seemed to help. Then the upper element that is also stainless that requires a special wrench to replace went bad according to the blinking lights. Lights stopped after several resets. Now, the water is boiling out of the top of heater and they tell me its the seal in the element that I never replaced. The cover for the element is off. Water cannot possibly build up and force out the top of the cover of tank. I am not an idiot, yet they tell me that is most likely the problem. They didnt listen to me long enough to properly assess my concern. Every plumber I talk to says its the separation of the liner inside the heater. Nonetheless, I have a water problem now in the basement and have never heard back from Whirlpool as promised with troubleshooting guide on an email. I am sick of calling and getting the runaround with every issue. The warranty is horrible for the consumer. Sure, you have a limited lifetime warranty, but when you cant get proper information when you need it, what good is it? Made in America is why I bought the product. I also need a new washer but will not be searching in the Whirlpool line due to their lack of care with an important issue with my heater.
The shelves in the newer units are plastic not glass with metal and they rip/break holding heavy contains like gallons of milk, and they are more expensive to replace. I just wish they would go back to building things like in the old days. My last refrigerator lasted 20 years. Ive had this one a year paid twice the price and already had to replace shelves and trays for it..
We purchased in July 2016 from Best Buy. Very nice product. Our former Whirlpool had lasted 20 years and was a work horse for our family. The new one began not freezing ice cream in November. Then, it would periodically freeze things very well and then not freeze items fully. We contacted Best Buy thinking we had a lemon. Worthless - no help. Told us to contact Whirlpool directly. The repair person came out today and told us that our refrigerator cannot be in our garage outdoors because the energy efficiency of the refrigerator causes it to shut off when the surrounding temp drops below 54F. Our former Whirlpool had been outdoors in our garage in that spot for 18 years, no problems. The new models now no longer operate if the air cools down around them. What!? There is no warning information, no sales information, no way to learn this until after you shell out 1000 dollars and lose your frozen food. It is in the manual in fine print, but we didnt read the manual cover to cover when we got the refrigerator, and we sure didnt read it BEFORE we bought it. And no one at the store, nor the installation people who represented Best Buy as paid installers told me I couldnt have this outside, even though I specifically told them I was buying it for our outside extra fridge and freezer to replace the old one, and the installers installed it outside. Technically our refrigerator is working as its supposed to apparently. However, I think it should prominently be noted on pre-sales materials that it must be operated indoors only (in climates always >54 degrees). Now I have a new refrigerator that I cant use as an extra in our garage. Apparently all the new fridges are energy efficient like this and shut off below 54. I cannot find any info on the internet about this, or any other complaints about a similar situation to mine. How does that make any sense? Freezing is 32 so any frozen goods will thaw, by default, always, if the machine is in cool environments. Phooey on this design spec. Dumb engineers.
This is a great choice if you like a drawer for a freezer. It’s double door. The racks are easily moved. There’s are drawers for beverages and cheeses and vegetables. One downfall is replacing water filter cartridge every couple months and freezer could be set up a little better so you don’t have to pack things on top of each other.
I bought a Whirlpool french door refrigerator, model # ED5LVAXWS about five years ago. I didnt have any problems until last month, on August 25, 2016. The ice dispenser stopped working, and the refrigerator went off. I had to throw out a lot of food. I got a new extended warranty that day, and a serviceman came out the following day, 8/26. It turned out he wasnt a repairman, just someone to diagnosis the problem and order the parts. The part was ordered, and the fridge would be repaired within 5 days, but the part was delayed because of a Hurricane Hermine, which completely understandable. On 9/8 the repairman arrived, but he realized that the original guy who diagnosed the problem was in error. He had ordered a compressor, and what needed to be replaced was the thermostat. As of today, 9/29, the part is still not in -- I was told its on backorder with no ETA. If I didnt have a mini fridge, Id be at a complete loss. I called what I thought was Whirlpool to complain about the part taking so long to arrive, but was told they can do nothing. It turns out that a company called AIG U.S. Warranty Division handles Whirlpools guarantees. I am not a happy camper.
Bought Sep. 2012. April 2016 stopped cooling. Four visits over 4 weeks, various parts replaced, coolant refilled. Stopped cooling again soon after first 3 visits. After 4th visit cooled moderately (42 degrees) for 5 weeks. June 24, renewed service contract for 1 year for $112. July 12, stopped cooling! Took 8 days for service person to arrive; 5 days for him to tell Whirlpool that repair needed 5 parts, one of which is no longer made! But they sold me a service contract?? 16 days after initial call, Whirlpool says my case is in adjudication, which will take 7-10 business days. So I wont know what they are offering till Aug. 8th-11th. Four weeks living out of a cooler. The product is rotten, and the service is worse.Just recently discovered that all this time when I thought I was talking to Whirlpool, it was actually sub-contracted to AIG. Yes, the AIG that needed a massive government bail-out. Whirlpool customer service refused to talk to me; referred me back to AIG. The only other all-refrigerator (no freezer - I have a 20-year-old Sears freezer in the kitchen that works just fine) I can find is an inch too tall for the space. But I plan to spend for my handyman to raise the cupboard floor above, rather than buy another Whirlpool! Most of May, four weeks in July/Aug without a fridge. Hours on hold. The first service firm they used was incompetent, couldnt find the cause. I wonder how much of my $1,353 purchase cost, and my $112 service contract theyll refund?
My Whirlpool refrigerator needed a $400 mechanical repair shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. Its only been 13 months since repair, and the refrigerator is experiencing the same problems again! Whirlpool is plagued by negative reviews across the internet... hundreds of complaints on Yelp.ca forums, and consumeraffairs.com. There also used to be hundreds of negative Google reviews, but mysteriously all of those reviews have disappeared, and you can no longer leave a Google review for Whirlpool Corporation.
I purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator in Jan 2014. The first thing I noticed was the installers bought the appliance in without a box. The next thing I noticed was the door would not close unless you gave it a big push. While looking around at the hinges, I found 2 hairline cracks at the base of the refrigerator and 2 dents. I called Service and they sent a technician out. The technician told me they are going to want to epoxy this and you will see it. They asked did it get delivered in the box, I said no. I asked why, she said it should have been delivered in the container so you would know that it is new and not a rejected one from a customer. I called Whirlpool to voice my issue with having this epoxied. Kecia was the CSR...she said that is the normal repair for a crack. I told her I had a Kenmore refrigerator for 23 years and it was still functional when I bought this. I replaced it to get the energy savings. I told her I wanted the refrigerator replaced. I told her that the cracks tells a story about the quality of the appliance. I asked her what happens if these cracks expand after the year warranty expires. She said you can buy the extended warranty. I said but the existing warranty will not cover the cracks...what will the the extended warranty do? I asked if there were any recalls...she said no. I asked have there been similar complaints about cracks and dings (not that I thought she would answer yes). She said no unless someone had stepped on the base of it. I told her I lived alone and I definitely did not step on the base of the refrigerator. She got aggravated (almost to the point of being rude) and said Mam, no one said you stood on the base. I asked her repeatedly if there was someone else I could speak with. Her repeated answer was I am authorized to speak with you. She wouldnt let me to speak with anyone else. I am done with Whirlpool and stuck with this substandard refrigerator. Not happy at all in Va.
I called and emailed Whirlpool because the water dispenser drips all over the front of the fridge and floor. They had the nerve to tell me to use a cup for the problem and there was nothing they could do. They were no help with this problem.
Whirlpool Refrigerator Model WRX9885IBM01 French Doors - We purchased this $2,000+ dollar refrigerator in December of 2014 and within two weeks of plugging it in, we noticed the freezer drawer was crooked and ice crystals in the freezer compartment. We contacted Whirlpool re the matter and they dispatched a local serviceman. He informed us that the inner lining of the refrigerator was crooked and he contacted Whirlpool. He sent pictures of the crooked drawers and was advised by Whirlpool to adjust the outside door, but nothing could be done for the inside crookedness and that he was to take silicone and seal the refrigerator to prevent air coming in to create the ice... Really? We told him that was merely a Band-Aid to the problems and we wanted a replacement. According to Whirlpool, they can only service our month old refrigerator and cannot replace it.Actually, they cannot even service the defective product they sell, they can only caulk the problem until it comes again. I am not going to stop until everybody in the country buying a refrigerator thinks first about the warranty Whirlpool offers. After reading defective parts, etc., I am amazed they are still in business! We are contacting Lowes to come pick it up! Let them deal with the garbage they are selling!
The refrigerator itself is noisy but thats not the problem. Most of my low ratings are because of the ice maker. Instead of being in the freezer it is up in the refrigerators area. It jams a lot, makes a lot of noise, had to replace the ice maker assy inside it already as it quit. Then the defrost water drain plugged and had to be cleaned out. Too many problems for such a new refrigerator. The refrig. itself works fine but get one with ice maker in the freezer.
Purchased the American Made Whirlpool in Oct. 2020. There is plenty of room and there are only 2 adults in the home. It is a basic no frills refrigerator. We do not even need the ice maker that it has. Would purchase this again. The only negative is it makes weird gurgling sounds on occasion.
Whirlpool refrigerators are best whenever I used many refrigerators. It provide many useful service to users. It allow us to store different varieties of products including vegetables, fruits, beverages and many more. It can make cube ice for to use in different drinks, products, etc. It consume less energy to used this Whirlpool refrigerator products. We used Whirlpool refrigerator with less stress of storages of fresh vegetables and fruits. Water is main thing we used to store in this fridge, it maintain temperature well for cool and fresh taste of nectar of nature. Nowadays, refrigerator are used widely in our locality especially Whirlpool which I mentioned them earlier to buy this awesome product to give comfort of mankind. I recommend Whirlpool refrigerator.
Fridge residue - ED5FVGXWS07: Well, I gave it a long time and this is how they make Whirlpool refrigerators! I had a GE for 20 years and was so looking forward to this new one. What idiot designs a fridge that leaves water stains like this? And, the water falls onto the floor when refilling a water bottle plus there is no catch for the water. Argh! I really dont want to live with this for 20 years! Their resolution was to get a water softener; really?! It has a filter built in. They refused to replace the fridge.
Purchased suite of appliances. 2 years later front burner will only operate on high (fire hazard). Fridge icemaker in door has never worked properly. No ice or shooting everywhere. Whirlpool offers no help because did not purchase pricey warranty & are nasty. Food freezes inside fridge & its my fault. Never Never buy whirlpool or any of their products KitchenAid Jenn-Air. There is a whole list!! They say made in USA. LIE. They are assembled in USA. Everything else is outsourced. No integrity from this company & definitely do not stand behind their products. Customer Service is non existent!
We bought the refrigerator end of November 2017 but didnt start using till February 2018. March/April stopped working completely. Since it was on warranty, we got repaired. End of December stopped working completely again. Few days after the warranty expired. We got few Whirlpool products with our order in November. Washer was already repaired too. We will never buy Whirlpool again!
Ordered water filters for refrigerator. They did not arrive. Tracking # came back not found. Waited on phone for an hour. Talked to representative. She could not help me. Transferred me to another department. Been holding for an hour. Still no help. If this is what Whirlpool calls good service, they are completely lacking. I will not order another Whirlpool product.
We got a brand new bottom freezer french door Whirlpool refrigerator in our brand new apartment. Since we moved in last week the temperature control in the refrigerator box has failed three times. The freezer stays cold but the coils are frosted solid and no cooling gets up to the refrigerator box. We turned on moisture control but that didnt help. The users manual is completely useless and in fact doesnt even match the control panel. The numbers for temperature settings on the instructions dont match the numbers on the panel. We had to turn off and thaw out the unit completely three times already and this is just the first week! Last night the building maintenance guys came in and sprayed the back panel of the freezer with warm water. He said he talked to the GE tech, who suggested we also increase the freezer temperature settings to 4 and the refrigerator to 44. But this morning the temperature rose again. It sure sounds to me like the daily defrost cycle isnt running at all and nobody wants to consider that possibility. Thaw the unit several times a week is completely ridiculous. Our food has experienced so many temperature excursions who knows whether its any good now. I cant wait to get my first taste of salmonella. This is what you get when you combine junk with poor service.
We bought a Whirlpool French door fridge model WRF989SDAM00 in 2013 and were impressed by how it looked in our kitchen. Its December 2015 and things have started to go wrong. First the freezer stopped freezing items completely and found out that ice had built up on the cooling tubes inside the rear freezer wall. Had to be taken apart and thawed with a heat gun. Now the freezer freezes on and off and the ice maker is not making ice properly and leaking all over the left side of the fridge. Went to Sears {place of purchase} and we were asked immediately if we had purchased the extended warranty. We hadnt and were told Sears could do nothing and that these newer fridges have a tendency to have trouble within the first couple of years and thats why they recommend the extended warranties. Really a $2500 dollar fridge a couple of years? Had a local appliance repairman look at it and he said the compressor was bad. $500.00 to fix. Boy do I regret buying this thing. These big companies just walk all over us consumers.
I have purchased Whirlpool refrigerator 2 years back. Suddenly my refrigerator stop working. When I filled complaint against this in customer service care. They sent technician. He told its compressor not working and asked 2800 rs for gas filling. Then he said hell come tomorrow for this. For 4 days he didnt come. After 20 calls, to customer service centre they said, Your refrigerator has to sent to the center. For that they asked 1000 rs... We were so disturbed by their slow service. We immediately said yes. Now when our refrigerator arrived at their center. Now they are again asking for 3400 rs for other part. Im so frustrated by this service. What type of warranty you are giving.. The warranty is of just the box.... So bad products. Such a bad experience... Never gonna buy Whirlpool product again or recommend anyone.
Water began accumulating on the floor, dripping out of the freezer 16 months from installation. Upon investigating I found the bottom of the freezer had a solid sheet of ice on it. Water was dripping out from the back of the freezer and collecting until it froze. I followed a YouTube video that explained the problem, the freezer drain clogs. The video continued with a how-to dismantle the freezer to defrost the drain and drain the water. Apparently the drain is too small and the fix is a new grommet which costs approximately $27.00. I followed the YouTube video and TEMPORARILY fixed the trouble myself. This is a Whirlpool defect, aka, poor design. What is Whirlpool offering to customers to permanently solve this problem at no cost?
We are now over a month without a working fridge/freezer because of the lack of Whirlpool care. Our brand new Whirlpool fridge stopped working after 3 days. That was nearly a month ago. I have wasted hours on the phone with rude reps from both Home Depot and Whirlpool. A new one with multiple dents was attempted to be delivered today which I wouldnt sign for knowing Id be stuck with it. Now we have to wait 2 weeks for another one. A $100 compensation doesnt nearly cover our food loss let alone a family of 4 living without a functioning fridge and freezer. I will never purchase Whirlpool again!
This is my second Maytag French door refrigerator. 1st died after 5years. Bought the same again but bought an extended warranty. After 3 years, a month of service calls I still do not have a running refrigerator. Had to rent one from rent a center while Whirlpool sends more repairman. Try calling their customer service is where they got their name. They give you such a runaround they create a whirlpool. Product is junk.
Let me just start by saying I have multiple Whirlpool appliances, and I have always bought Whirlpool appliances in the past. I bought a refrigerator 3 months ago, and it quit working. So, I called Whirlpool to come service it. The service repairman said someone left the freezer door open and it froze up. Two days later, I had to call them back again, because now, the fridge part was not keeping food cold. He came back out and told me it was the compressor. I then in return called Whirlpool that afternoon, and they refused to replace it saying they had to follow their Warranty Policy and they would call me back on Wednesday. They did call back on Wednesday and told me they had located the part. I got a call on Tuesday of the following week and was informed they could not locate the part. I called Whirlpool the next day, and they told me they would have to send it to their Exchange department for review and I would hear back from them in 3 business days. I asked for them to rush my request, but they told they have no way of doing that. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again!
I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator because it was the lowest priced model that offered a bottom freezer compartment and fit into our available space in the kitchen. We also want a white coloured appliance. One thing we never noticed until set up at home was that there were no ice making trays nor an ice bin. We have had the fridge for five years with no problems. It is quite noisy when running.
I purchased a brand new fridge in July of 2014 (model wrf990slam00) hoping refrigeration repairs were now behind me. They were not. The ice machine did not work from day one and they knew it was defective when I called so they had someone come out to replace it. Just over a year later it is not working again and my freezer will not freeze either. They tell me I am now out of warranty and any repairs going forward will be out of pocket. Congratulations Whirlpool. You make products that last a whole year. Do not buy Whirlpool. They could care less about you or the quality of their products.
We purchased this large 4 door refrigerator in December 2018, from Costco in Florida, having in mind with the 2 years Manufacturing warranties and 2 years of Costco warranties above the manufacturing warranties. We didnt expect any problems for the initial 4 years. Up on delivery some parts of the unit was missing, delivery guys said they will make a report for the missing left drawers and the parts. We did not have any manuals how to setup and use. After we called the customer service they send us the operating manual. We encounter several other problems with this unit and the most recent one to our surprise the warning light to change the water filter was on. We hardly using the water from the fridge because of the having monthly spring water delivery service. We called customer service and after explanation of our concern and following their instruction the light was on. Finally we were told that whether or not using the water filter has to be changed every 6 months and send us the additional service warranty contract which is $411.95 for 3 years. We still have 3 years 4 months remaining from our original warranty.
My KitchenAid side by side refrigerator/freezer is a beautiful thing, shiny steel surface, gleaming white inside. However, its made poorly. The ice cube maker compartment broke and the replacement came without any installation instructions. It was hard to figure out and I broke it. Now, everything in the refrigerator is freezing and changing the temperature on the digital panel makes no difference. McKinneys appliance, where I bought it, no longer has a refrigeration technician and they referred me to Whirlpools 1-800 number where I supplied some information and sat in my chair on hold listening to music for a half hour before hanging up.The recording on the phone suggested their online chat where I was asked the same sorts of questions and was told I would get the answers I wanted by paying $5.00. I had no idea what I was getting into but I didnt pay, just terminated that inquiry. Feeling cheated by the company whose product I had mistakenly purchased. Im now running the risk of a technician visit, sometime between 8 am and 4 pm a couple of days from now. I have to be prepared to wait around all day for somebody to look at my refrigerator, charge me a lot of money and, from what Ive read online, potentially see the problem return in a very short space of time.
I bought Whirlpool fridge in 2013 and as of today I am on the fifth ice maker. Unfortunately I did not get the extended warranty. It was purchased At Lowes Model number GZ25FSRXYY2. Do not buy this fridge. I called Whirlpool to complain and got sorry we cant help. Can you say LEMON?
Our new refrigerator was delivered on March 28, 2015. On May 31 as I was opening the door, the top of the bottom door handle broke. I was finally able to get a door handle shipped to my home and I replaced the handle. On July 21, I am opening the door and the 2nd handle breaks in exactly the same place again. Two broken handles in less than four months. Terrible design flaw in this door handle. Now, I am being told by a service representative that the handles are only warrantied for 30 days because handles are cosmetic.
Our 3 year old 2013 whirlpool gold French door refrigerator was not cold enough in the freezer. I tried a few self help remedies. Then had repairman. He had good news, bad news. Good news is Whirlpool will replace the evaporator because, they know they have a problem with the part. Bad news is, they wont cover the labor which is $400.00. Freezer now fine. Has anyone else had this situation. I am pretty angry that they wont cover labor for a part they know is defective.
We purchased our Whirlpool french door refrigerator with bottom freezer from Lowes. A few months after purchasing, we noticed a pool of water on the floor, resulting from what looked like a leak coming from the ice maker. After contacting customer service, they sent a repair company to service the fridge. This rep stayed no longer than 5 minutes and barely looked at the appliance. He said my refrigerator was not under warranty, which was **, as I personally registered the refrigerator the day it was. My kitchen floor is ruined as a result. I will NEVER purchase another product from this company again. They seemingly left a faulty product on the market and failed to inform me about the known issue. Then they failed to quickly provide needed repair or replacement in a timely manner. They also refuse to reimburse me for the food loss, which would not have ever occurred had they handled the issue appropriately from the beginning. TERRIBLE company. In addition, since Lowes is aware of the reputation of this company and continue to sell their defective products... I will not be shopping at Lowes anymore! Both this companies should NOT be in business!!!
Purchased a NEW Whirlpool side by side refrigerator (WRS965CIA) and it was delivered on 2-3-14 with a dent in the door. The retail store ordered a replacement door and this order was approved by Whirlpool. 4 months later, I still dont have the door. My 8 calls to the retail store say that Whirlpools Trade partner is not returning their calls or emails to get this resolved. My contact with Whirlpool was met with contact your Trade Partner. Vicious cycle and still no replacement door.
We moved into a new home (brand new construction) in Dec 2018. The ice maker/water dispenser has never worked. Weve had 2 different repair people come a total of 5 times to no avail. Now have to deal with Whirlpool directly to deal with Warranty. Will Whirlpool offer a new fridge? No, they will send a replacement door. 8 months later and we still have a fridge that does not work. Not impressed with Whirlpool and extremely unsatisfied with the produce. Do not buy this brand.
In a recent decision regarding the highly expensive, supposed elite performing Whirlpool Gold refrigerators, a group of unsatisfied Whirlpool owners who are tired of cleaning water puddles from in front of their new refrigerators have hired all automobile corporations to manufacture cars only available to the CEO, Executive Board as well as the entire engineering staff at Whirlpool. These cars will be guaranteed to run ok. However, once the car is heated up under normal working conditions, the cars will be guaranteed to leak oil all over whatever surface they are parked upon. We hope that this will not be an inconvenience to the CEO of Whirlpool; however, perhaps once you have destroyed your new garage floor, you will understand the nature of our complaint with your poorly designed and engineered Whirlpool product. While this letter will have no effect on my current defective product provided to me by Whirlpool, it makes me feel better and I have not had the attention span to listen to my wife complain while she is cleaning up yet another (whirl) pool underneath our fridge.
I have a smaller/apartment size fridge. As a 1 person household it is a perfect fit. Works well & wasnt expensive. I am a Foodie, having it so nothing is too warm/cold, all the temps are equal, is a big deal. And in 10 years no breakdowns.
I purchased a Whirlpool Ref side by side 11-2013. I have had nothing but trouble. First the Ice maker leaked, was fixed. The door to the ref has had serviced 5 times. The tech after many times trying to fix hinge on door twice was told to order new door. This took 6-8 week to get. Came today 5-27-15 too but new door on. It is still not right, has big gap in the middle - still not level as should be. I have called Customer Service again today with no help. All they want you to do is spend more money on a contract. I THOUGHT WHIRLPOOL WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD PRODUCT......NOTTA....WILL NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN. SO IF YOU EVER BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT BE SURE TO GET EXTENDED WARRANTY. YOU MIGHT NEED IT..........STILL NOT SATISFIED AND NO HELP IN SIGHT.
I bought my refrigerator side by side on April 16th 2010 at Lowes. Not even six months, the liner inside started to get cracked. I called and they send serviceman. He just put a tape to cover the cracks. I called Whirpool corp and they told me its cosmetics issue so our warranty does not cover cosmetic problem for as long it works and cools. I will never purchase Whirpool brands. Lesson learned.
Update Review on 10/15/2020: New refrigerator 12/31/19. 4/27/20 Fridge terribly noisy, called Whirlpool directed to local provider. 5/5/20 Fan replaced, drawer clip broken. 5/11/20 Drawer repaired. 5/21/20 Fridge not keeping up, repair company said new compressor needed. 7/6/20 After numerous calls and literally hours on hold with Whirlpool compressor install but still seemed noisy. 9/30/20 Fridge partially cooling, no ice and water dispenser not working. Repair company ordered new evaporator cover and UI panel.10/15/20 Neither the repair company or Whirlpool know when the parts will be delivered. Whirlpool has no record of their being a service call or parts ordered. I talked to one rude, unhelpful and uninformed service rep. After following their instructions and using their recommended warranty provider, they claim not to have the issues in their system and cant be used to determine the repair/replacement of their unit. He indicated, You need 3 major repairs in 30 days to get a replacement fridge. It took them 6 1/2 weeks to repair the compressor. How can it break that many times in 30 days with that bad of service. Nothing is repaired in 30 days. The current rep seems to care and have a working knowledge. She is sending a request to determine when a part might be delivered. She couldnt give any indication of when the part might be delivered to complete the repair. Days? Weeks? Or again Months? An hour and a half on the phone with very little progress. New refrigerator with 3 major repairs and one small one in 9 months. Terrible refrigerator and extremely poor service! Go with another brand.Original Review: Refrigerator new in January 2020. The first issue was an extremely loud fan.It was replaced. While being repaired, service tech broke a tab on the door. (It happens) Another call to replace the tab. During May I notice its not making ice and freezer isnt keeping up. Lose all items in freezer. Now the 4th call on new refrigerator, tech says needs a compressor and orders while at my house. Soon the refrigerator isnt keeping cool. Now 34 days later, still not fixed. Whirlpool service provider blames Whirlpool. Whirlpool says they are shipping compressors but cant exactly say mine is delivered. Apparently, 4 service calls in 5 months and over a month with a totally broken refrigerator is their bar for a good product and service. Neither their approved service provider or Whirlpool care in the least. Awful service. Try another brand!
I purchased a brand new refrigerator model # WRX735SDBM00 Ser # K51621170 on 30 June at Lowes. Paid about 1600.00. Within 5 days the ice maker was no longer functioning. I called the service department and a lengthy ordeal commenced of trying to repair. It is now 13 August 2015 and I have had over 10 visits from a technician and I still have no ice. I made a terrible mistake in not returning the appliance to the store within 30 days so now it has to go through the process which means that now I have to continue to wait until the technicians deem that this appliance is not repairable anymore before I can attempt to get a replacement. In the meantime, we have been inconvenienced, aggravated not to mention not be provided a product that works with no future date where I can get this appliance repaired. The local store management have been great to deal with and are trying but their hands are tied until the manufacturer determines they cant fix. In the meantime, the consumer is continuing to wait for the repair/replacement. No one seems to care or has there been any discussion of some compensation (not necessarily money) for the aggravation and inconvenience I have endured. Something is just not right. Suffice to say, never again will I buy a Whirlpool. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
I purchased a new Whirlpool stainless steel French door refrigerator MSRP for $2,500 in good faith. If something were to go wrong with the appliance, Whirlpool would fix the unit as applicable under their accompanying written Whirlpool Corporation Major Appliance Warranty for the duration of one (1) year from date of purchase. However, this has not turned out to be the case at all. As per their written Whirlpool Corporation Major Appliance Warranty for one (1) year from the date of purchase, when this major appliance is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product, Whirlpool Corporation will pay for factory specified parts and repair labor to correct defects in materials or workmanship that existed when this major appliance was purchased. Service must be provided by a Whirlpool designated service company. My refrigerator was purchased on 10/27 and delivered on 10/28. Service repair performed by a Whirlpool designated service company was on 11/30, 12/30, 1/9, 1/18, 2/9, and 2/23. A future appointment was scheduled for 3/22. Whirlpool’s designated service company notes from 2/9 specifically state that the refrigerator will not run and parts were ordered. Whirlpool’s designated service company returned on 2/23 for parts installation and noticed that other components of the appliance were not functioning properly and proceeded to call the tech line for support. After hours of troubleshooting and multiple failures to function properly, the service company deemed the refrigerator as un-repairable and clearly stated in their notes that the unit was not cooling, there is a manufacturing defect, restriction in the units seal system, and the unit needs to be replaced. I was instructed that the tech line would complete the ticket, send the information over to Whirlpool Corporation, and I would need to follow up with Whirlpool’s customer service to set up the delivery of a replacement and haul away of the non-working defective refrigerator.Furthermore, the company (manager Wanda at the TN office), had already promised to replace this unit if the service repair performed on 12/30 did not fix the unit, which the company has never honored and has since decided to recuse themselves of this promise made on behalf of their employee. In addition, this Whirlpool manger (Wanda at the TN office) even gave me her direct phone number and extension to follow up with her. She has never answered any of my 10 phone calls over a period of 3 weeks and never attempted to return a single voicemail that I left for her. Since the promise of a replacement refrigerator, I contacted Whirlpool by phone on the following dates: 12/30, 1/3 and 1/16; 1/17, 1/19, and 1/30; 2/20, 2/24, and 2/28; 3/2, 3/9, and 3/13; and 3/15, 3/16, and 3/19. I as well have emailed them information they have requested on 2/20, 2/24, and 2/28.Below is verbatim of the last few Whirlpool customer service representatives that I have had correspondences with.2/28 (Tabitha): I have sent in your information for the PEX (replacement unit) since I see here that your unit is un-repairable. Someone will continue to contact you within 24 to 48 hours to go over the PEX process with you.3/2 (Brittany): I see we received your file on March 1st; however, it was denied because the request was blank. Can I place you on hold on a moment? (After a long pause) I apologize for leaving you on hold so long. Your records were listed under two different accounts on our end with one being linked by your phone number and another being linked by your address; therefore, all of your records have probably not been viewable. Upon further review of your information, our Whirlpool designated service company that performed service on 2/23 will have to call into the tech line to complete their notes before we can proceed. No, you cannot speak to a manager. If you wish to have a manager contact you, one will do so within 24-48 hours. You cannot speak to a manager because at this time there is nothing they can do to assist you; unfortunately, this process is moving along at its fastest place and there is nothing more we can do for you at the moment. There is nothing that we can accept from you to speed this process along, even though your copy of the service company’s receipts include the statements of work from our designated service company. If you wish to escalate this matter, you can write to Whirlpool Customer Relations Department at 553 Denson Road.3/9 (Kia, supervisor): Although our designated service company may deem your unit un-repairable, Whirlpool has to deem your unit un-repairable for a replacement to be issued. At this time, Whirlpool does not deem your unit un-repairable. You will need to contact our designated service company and have them forward over your information. I am the highest level of supervision for the company and if you wish to escalate this, you can write to Whirlpool Customer Relations Department. Their mailing address was already provided to you previously. At this point, our conversation is over. We will not be replacing the product as we do not determine it to be un-repairable. Thank you for calling Whirlpool. The information we have discussed will be documented. I am the highest level of management for the company, so your request to be transferred to management is denied. I am aware of everything you have said and I have documented this information. At this time, I am done discussing this with you and will now hang up the line. This kind of customer service is not only discourteous, but it is despicable in the upmost matter. This displays complete corruption in regards to the written warranties provided by Whirlpool Corporation that come with your Whirlpool product at the time of purchase. Currently as it stands on 3/20, my $2,500 valued Whirlpool refrigerator is just under (5) months of the purchase date and has been deemed as having a significant manufacturing defect, as well as needing replacement by Whirlpool’s designated service company that they hold a contract with. Yet, Whirlpool refuses to replace the unit and refuses to speak with me based on the ground that only their contractactually designated service company deems the refrigerator as un-repairable, but they do not. My refrigerator has not worked in weeks! From reading the Whirlpool appliance product reviews online, I discovered that I am by far not the only consumer that has suffered from victimization on behalf of Whirlpool Corporation. I saw numerous consumers who had purchased the exact same product (matching model number) as me, had issues, and Whirlpool refused to assist them. Therefore, I think that we as consumers need to take a stance to stop these unethical practices of Whirlpool Corporation and demand that they honor their written warranty for their products. This company’s abuse and neglect of their consumers is absurd.
The product has water and ice maker problems. The day we got the new refrigerator home, it did not make ice for one week. I called and had service come out. The line was not connected properly under the refrigerator. Water was flowing out of the front of the refrigerator. I called service again and they put in a new ice maker. The ice maker was still not working. I called service and another firm came out and said the new ice maker was bad. They put in another new icemaker. Now it is making ice but will not dispense it through the door like it is supposed to. I will call service again on Monday.
We purchased a new side by side black finish refrigerator. There is a design flaw in the water/ice dispenser. The bottom of the dispenser has no edge so any drops of water run down the front of the refrigerator! This leaves constant watermarks down the front. 2. The finish scratches very, very easily. I would not recommend this finish to anyone with children or pets. When you open the door if your ring touches the surface it will scratch it! There was NO user manual on care and I used paper towels to clean. Big no no, as now I have fine scratches on the front. I would never buy this product again because of these flaws. I have a 7 month old refrigerator that looks 7 years old and it is just my husband and myself! Love the inside, hate the outside.
Purchased Whirlpool side by side June 2010. Within a few months realized major problem with ice maker. Reservoir on door would leak and freeze inside the door. Service man out at least twice, advised to maintain service contract as would continue to have issues. It still leaks, freezes up and does not dispense properly. Now the inside liner of the refrigerator is cracking and neither the warranty company nor the WHIRLPOOL Manufacture Co. will stand by their product. It is my intent to warn as many people as possible, so they will not have the same bad experiences.
Purchased a Whirlpool double door refrigerator and within a year the freezer and refrigerator doors were severely out of line. Called repairman who said the risers were broken, they were plastic and needed to be replaced. We did that. The doors were again out of line so badly that you had to push the refrigerator door side hard to get it to close. Repairman came today and stated he would recommend ditching the refrigerator as the risers in the bottom of the refrigerator are made of plastic and will continue to break. He leveled the doors but stated that they will continue to become out of line again. The repairman stated that this is a design defect in the Whirlpool refrigerator and he has replaced the risers in many of the refrigerators repeatedly. As if the refrigerator isnt enough, we own a Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer. Within 3 1/2 yrs the motherboard went bad in the washer and we had to replace it. The part and labor was almost $400. Whirlpool considered us a valued customer and offered us a comparable washer for $500 and they would take ours away for $20 extra. Only problem is that our original washer was $1,000 and the comparable was not as large as the one we had and did not have the stainless ours had.All I can say is if were valued customers I would wonder how they treat their less valued customers. All of this is to say that I will no longer purchase any Whirlpool products. Not only are the products below par but the customer service is non existent. They really do not care if they lose customers or not. They dont want to hear your woes about their appliances.
I have a model ED20PK. The doors are rusting on the outside. This refrigerator was purchased by my husband who has passed, I do not have the receipt and I dont know where he purchased it. The refrigerator worked perfect. It has been in my kitchen from day of purchase. My home is adequately heated in winter and air conditioned in the summer. I have an up-scale home. I dont see any reason to replace the refrigerator, but I cannot stand the deteriorating condition of the doors. If I replace it, I will not buy a Whirlpool or any brand made by Whirlpool. The rust is not just a discoloration, it is actually rough to the touch and is getting worse day by day. If you have any answers or help I would appreciate a phone call. I am not really in an economic position to just go and buy a new refrigerator.
Purchased new from Best Buy for over $1000. One or two months after the warranty expired the ice through the door malfunctioned, would only spit out crushed all over the floor then clog up. Didnt bother to repair it, just open the freezer. Next, the door would not seal right and frost builds up in my frost free. Also, the ice delivery wont close tight. Now the unit is about 3 years old and I just finished paying it off and all the door shelves are cracking. Contacted Whirlpool and was told by email politely, Too bad. You are out of warranty, but please buy parts from us and say nice things about Whirlpool because we so value our customers. Never will buy Whirlpool again and recommend you DONT.
