Product Reviews:

This is my third Whirlpool refrigerator. The first two lasted about 20 year
This is my third Whirlpool refrigerator. The first two lasted about 20 years each, and although not fancy, they were always serviceable. This one is different.Because of my kitchen cabinets, the only refrigerator with as much storage capacity (cu ft) as my old one was what seemed to be an almost identical Whirlpool, with the only exception being a slight difference in the ice maker. But this one is a disaster. The water/ice dispenser has been changed to one with one space only for your container. The water that comes out is warm, because the routing of the tube has been changed and it no longer goes through the chilled refrigerator space; the ice pours out so hard that usually half of it lands on the floor. In order to operate the dispenser using anything with less than a 4 diameter, you need two hands: One to depress the lever behind your glass and one to hold the glass farther away from the refrigerator. Failure to do that results in a wet mess. After dispensing crushed ice, it continues to send small pieces flying long after I change the switch to cubes. But that is the least inconvenience. In an apparent engineering change to meet energy efficiency, the new refrigerator recycles air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment. That and other changes in the frost-free engineering have resulted in:Uneven cooling in the refrigerator. In fact, it froze $1800 worth of insulin pens. I was advised by the Whirlpool representative that I shouldnt have put them on the shelf where the vent from the freezer spews out freezing air. Spoiled food in the freezer. Everything in the freezer develops a thick coating of ice crystals within a short time. This dries out the meat, shrinks the popsicles, and destroys the quality of fish and fowl. At this moment, I have two pork chops that defrosted in a plastic container on my kitchen counter. I bought them fresh, and now the 10-12 oz. of pork is swimming in over 1/2 c. of water.Interior fittings are poorly made and shelves and drawers do not work easily. The allegedly stainless exterior is difficult to clean, and many reviewers have remarked that they find rust within a few months. I could go on. There is more poor engineering, and an array of noises filling the kitchen, but you get the picture. I wish I could trash this refrigerator and buy a good one, but that isnt feasible both because of budgetary and space constraints. The last service person who came out sighed and told me that the refrigerator was cold, and that meant that the unit was operating okay! I HATE this refrigerator and struggling with it from day to day. My hope is that no one will buy a Whirlpool ever again. I certainly wont.Updated on 12/05/2017: Whirlpool, faced with my wrath over a refrigerator set on LOW that froze $1800 worth of insulin, provided a replacement (25 Cu Ft side-by-side refrigerator). I have owned two previous Whirlpool refrigerators -- for 20 years each -- as well as other Whirlpool major appliances. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCE. The replacement is deficient in every design and functional aspect I can think of. Temperature is uneven in both freezer and refrigerator. Food in the freezer is coated with snow within a week and dried out and spoiled within a month. Ice comes out with such force that it ricochets out of the glass and around the floor. Water from the dispenser is warm. Leafy vegetables spoil within 2 days. Whirlpool sent technicians who informed me that the unit was working properly because it was cold. PIECE OF JUNK! DONT BUY ANYTHING MADE BY WHIRLPOOL!

Whirlpool provides free replacement parts to repair this design problem but wont pay the service charges to repair their design problem. I purchased a KitchenAid french door style refrigerator (KBFS25EWMS10, SN K31902118) and it leaks water on the kitchen floor. At first I just mopped it up but later discovered they have a design problem in their drain system and water backs up into the freezer dept and eventually on to the floor. Customer Service provides free improved replacement parts for this design problem but wont pay the service charges to have the parts replaced. Simply put, Whirlpool/KitchenAid do not stand behind their product quality, instead they pass the problem and service charge cost for their design problem on to the consumer. Beware of this appliance supplier!

2 years of use the wash plate went. $150 later, one year later wash plate went again (the wash plate is all plastic, the motor spline in metal total stripes the plastic teeth in the wash plate) I replace myself. 3 weeks later the shift actuator failed which cost another $60 which I replaced. Now the bearing is going. There are only 3 people living in the house. I would stay away from the top loader washers from Whirlpool h2 low series. Huge disappointment.

Less than 2 years after we purchased our whirlpool dishwasher, the rack started to rust. Now the tines are so soft they fall off. The last time we bought a dishwasher the Same thing happened, but after 15 years! They dont even have an option for that to be under warranty so it tells me they dont stand by their product. I will never buy whirlpool again.

We moved into a new house in May 2013 and there was a new Whirlpool Gas Range installed. We have experienced an intermittent problem where the oven will not ignite since day one. We have reported it to Whirlpool and different technicians have attempted to repair it but it is still faulty. When the standard warranty ran out I purchased the Extended Warranty Protection from Whirlpool but it is WORTHLESS and they cannot fix it! The last technician from Philips Appliance in San Diego was terrible. He said he would order a new control board but never did and he closed the case without telling us.When I called Whirlpool to check on the status of the problem I was told that they will not look at or change parts for intermittent problems so what did I pay the extended warranty money for? When the oven does not ignite there is a smell of gas and we are now concerned that it may be dangerous so we are about to dump this useless Whirlpool gas range to a purchase a LG model! Bottom line is NEVER BUY Whirlpool and NEVER WASTE your money on a Whirlpool Extended Warranty Plan!

This washing machine started giving us trouble just a few months after purchasing. Have had repairman to our home 5 times in 3 years. Last time repairman came he said future repairs would be very expensive & we should purchase another machine. Whirlpool will not have my confidence again unless they recall this machine & fix all problems.

Whirlpool 50 gallon water heater - I bought a high efficiency tank water heater less than 1 year ago from Lowe’s. It stopped working after 10 months. Lowe’s indicated that it was a manufacturer issue so I called Whirlpool. After talking to the service rep, they said they would send a part, which I would need to install or call a plumber. The part didnt show, so I called again. This time I was told that they needed to confirm the problem with a local service tech. We are now at 5 days without hot water, and it looks like it is going to be another 3. Dont buy Whirlpool. Lowe’s has tried to help but cant get anything done either.

Updated on 12/28/2020: I purchased a 28 cu. ft. side by side Whirlpool refrigerator less than 3 years ago (Feb. 18). The icemaker dispenser paddle quit working nearly a year ago and there are no replacement parts supported. Today the ice maker quit making ice. This is crap for a major appliance that youd expect to go twenty years or so. Very dissatisfied. Dont waste your money on this stuff.Original Review: I purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator about 2-1/2 years ago, paid $1,800+ for it. Now two months ago the ice maker dispenser through the door quit working. I replaced the auger motor and that didnt help. Now the parts department says the actuator panels are no longer available. This is planned obsolescence to the Nth degree. No support for a major appliance less than 3 years old. Whirlpool SUCKS!!!

I have the Cabrio washer that is only four years old. It is leaking oil and is very loud during the spin cycle. I paid $800 for this washer and am extremely frustrated that it didnt last longer than this. I contacted Whirlpool customer service and had no luck since it is out of warranty. Due to the high number of complaints with the same issue, please consider a class action lawsuit. Thank you.

I bought a Whirlpool top load washer. In less than a month it had to be serviced by their recommended service repair. It has never worked properly. It malfunctions almost everytime it is used and takes at least an hour to wash even a small load. At first I thought I may have acquired an odd lemon. After talking with several friends who had bought the same Whirlpool model I found we all had the same complaints. My old machine could wash a king size comforter in 36 minutes... that was energy efficient.

These machines are designed to clean your clothes by rubbing them together
These machines are designed to clean your clothes by rubbing them together which they attempt to do in a minute amount of water. They destroy the fabric, pull the seam out of shape, wrinkle them beyond the point of wearable, do not get them clean and do not get all the detergent out. I have had clothes come out partially dry. They also do not dilute the fabric softener, leaving unremovable stains on your clothes. In addition, they take forever to do a load of clothes even without the extra rinse you need if you want any hope of getting the clothes rinsed. The dryer is the slowest dryer I have ever had. The steam refresh that is supposed to get the hideous wrinkles out of your clothes does not put steam into the dryer. Instead, it sets the dryer to the highest heat so that those clothes you did not want on high heat are now getting it; then it shoots bursts, yes large bursts, of water on them. Your clothes come out a combination of still wrinkles and wet. If you hear of a class action suit, please contact me. These machines should be recalled.

Very disheartening to know that an established company such as Whirlpool does not stand behind their products or acknowledge known product defects. Based on the quantity of complaints logged on this site alone, Id think a recall would be required. Identical to other consumer posts within, we purchased the Cabrio Platinum washer/dryer set (WTW8000BW0). Exactly 24 months to the purchase date, jet planes began flying through our home with the noise concentrated in the laundry room. The dryer has been fine; however, the washer is a whole other issue. The bearings are shot (as many users have cited) and the noise is deafening... even with the laundry door closed, TV on high, dogs barking and flurry of activity in the kitchen! We made a switch to the Whirlpool brand 2yrs ago due to reputation and longevity. Ooops. Lesson learned and $700 out the window. Back to GEs. If youre reading this and concur with our review, just remember... customers always have a choice! Unfortunately, Whirlpool will figure this out the hard way. Just like other iconic brands... Smith-Corona, Blockbuster, Polaroid, Nokia, Saturn, Pontiac/Oldsmobile, Sony and many others. There is typically a reason a company offers tremendous sales incentives (price cut, rebate, special financing) to unload products. We found out why. Thanks for the memories Whirlpool!

We purchased this dishwasher (Gold Dishwasher WDF60SADB) because of its low 49-decibel rating. It goes over 60 decibels regularly and occasionally up to 70 during operation (not including drain noises which cannot be controlled by the dishwasher). We used a tablet app to confirm. Decibels are not linear, they are exponential. 70 decibels is what your average shower or dishwasher sounds like. 50 is about as quiet as a refrigerator. You have to talk over this dishwasher. And yes there was a big price difference between it and Whirlpools next loudest rated washer.Whirlpools customer service says they will not replace or repair based on sound ever, only for functional failure. Bottom line, dont pay any attention to Whirlpool sound ratings. They dont stand by them and do not consider gross overages a defect. Fortunately the retailer (Lowes) does stand by what they sell and will trade for any other machine by any other manufacturer. We have only good things to say about Lowes in this process. This machine arrived Wednesday, and we pick a replacement Sunday. It will not be a Whirlpool. I will never buy a Whirlpool anything again. We said it will do X but we dont care if a brand new one wont is no way to do business.

Aqua clean does not work. I purchased this range this year not knowing aqua clean was different than a standard self cleaning. I had not use the range since its delivery in June until Thanksgiving. One meal in the oven and the turkey had created staining on the sides and the bottom. I have run the self clean cycle so far four times and scrubbed till I’m blue in the face. I have a top-freezer model WRT5715MYW. This week will mark the 3rd time Ive had a service call to complain about food freezing in the refrigerator compartment. The last time the repairman told me I couldnt place food in the center of the refrigerator since that is where the cold air from the freezer compartment comes down into the refrigerator compartment. This time when I called to schedule the repair call, the woman at the appliance store where I purchased this told me she also has a Whirpool refrigerator and she cant place any food on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator due to freezing. So this 21 cu ft refrigerator has a lot less usable space than I was led to believe when I purchased it. I would not recommend this product due to this reason. Beware of that channel that comes down the center of the back of the refrigerator. It seems like a design flaw to me.

Bottom freezer drawer keeps coming off its slides, but I live with it. Top refrig. section freezes things on top shelf, but 2 and 3 shelves down, temp is 39 to 42 = cannot get even temp. We purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine around January 2006, and from the start weve had nothing but problems with this appliance. Within the first year, water was leaking under the washer which was coming from a crack in the plastic housing of the water pump. I replaced the pump myself to save on labor. No big deal. The very next year, I started getting the F51 code and there was no way for me to get around calling a service company to have it repaired. $350 and one circuit board later, it was repaired. It remained working without fail until recently when it began giving the same F51 code. Let me guess, another $350 for better repair? I have to assume that the new circuit board that was installed wasnt any better than the original one that was replaced. I wouldnt put another $1 into this hunk of junk and Whirlpool should be ashamed to have this product on the market. I will never buy another Whirlpool product.

Just purchased a new Whirlpool Counter Depth, French Door, Freezer on bottom, Refrigerator from Lowes. Delivered Sept 1, missing the flap that makes the seal between the two doors. Shelves can be seen inside the fridge with doors closed. Exposed wires on the side of the door in a port with no cover. The fridge is unusable. Cold air flows out between the doors, temperature will not go lower than 45º. Moisture build up on the top and dripping down through the fridge. Frost build up on the back. Refrigerator runs continually. Had to shut it down. Called Whirlpool Sept 2. They will not replace the defective product. I must wait for a repair. The promise was within 24 hours for a technician to call. Called them Sept 2. Local family operated appliance repair company did not receive the request until Sept 4. They do not have the part nor does the parts supply company they deal with. Its on back order. Whirlpool has the part but long weekend and it will not be here until Sept 8 at the earliest. Whirlpool has advised Lowes that the issue is dealt with. I will see the technician on Sunday (Sept 6). Small family Business does not operate on Sunday or holiday, Monday, and have advised Whirlpool of this multiple times. Whirlpool doesnt care. I paid $2700 and do not have a working refrigerator. Whirlpool Cabrio - Clothes come out of the washer wrinkled, twisted and soap stained. I use the exact soap products they recommend in the proper amounts. Bought them in September of 2014. Wish I could return them. Too low of a water level that cannot be adjusted. Not fully rinsing the soap out of the clothes. Washing takes twice as long as with my former 25 year old washer. Dryer is new technology and energy efficient yet wont remove wrinkles from permanent press clothes.Uses hardly any water so clothes must be rinsed at least one or two times to get the soap spots off. Clothes always come out extremely wrinkled. Not all items can be put in the dryer so ironing is back in my life again. Some items come out so twisted and wrinkled that ironing wont even help. Dryer isnt much better at all and shirts and pants always have some wrinkles. Have had to bring some items to the dry cleaners to bring them back to a non wrinkled state. Whatever is saved in water and energy is more than made up by ironing and dry cleaning. The company representatives have sent service people out twice and they both said that the machines are performing as they were intended to. I do smaller washes and wash more often to try to get better results. I dont. Even though it is extra large capacity items such as blankets must be washed more than once as the water does not wet the entire blanket.

Called Whirlpool, they are not interested. 2 years later now and the machine is getting loud again. This is due to the spin throws water up and it is able to get out of the tub and down into the barring and the soap residue wears the barring out. Bad design. On July 19, I was forced to buy a new washer. Bought a Frigidaire which, when connected to the water supply, started immediately dumping water into the drum. Sent this defective washer back to the retailer and chose a new Whirlpool. O-M-I-G-O-S-H! It was delivered on 25 July and despite having 4 temperature settings, it only worked on either hot or cold AND you could never tell what temperature was going to be chosen by this computerized wonder. I repeatedly called Customer Support and received three different answers on what temperature was considered warm. The answers ranged from 65 to 102 degrees. Also, you could open the lid when the water was running in, which washers are no longer supposed to do. Whirlpool then arranged for A & D Service to come and repair my NEW washer and scheduled an appointment for a week later. I was forced to call that company to find out if they were even coming. When they did not show as promised, I cancelled the appointment and called Whirlpool to ask for another service company. They then scheduled me for two weeks later (now August 30th). The guy did come and told me there was user error - I had used too much soap as this was an HE washer. I asked him to show me where on the appliance and in the owners manual that it stated the washer was an HE. He couldnt find it either and said he would replace the computer and the door lock because his computer found that the washer was hit and miss on anything it was set on. At any rate, it is a little over a week later and I have heard nothing from the repairman and, of course, no follow-up from Whirlpool. Do not make the mistake of buying any Whirlpool product, and that now encompasses names such as Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Kitchen-Aid and many more if you want to be assured of a quality product and excellent customer service. What if this had been a refrigerator? The whole debacle has been a nightmare. Wish I had bought a GE!

I called and complained to Whirlpool and of course the fridge was out of warranty but heres the good part - The person on the phone asked me Did you put heavy things on the shelves? OMG My response, trying to think of the heaviest thing possible, was, Like milk cartons and juice? She even said There was likely a bad batch of plastic when the shelves were made. I was a big fan of Whirlpool. Great value etc. but I will never buy from them again. Shelves should last the life of the fridge!

Whirlpool Washer WTW8700EC + Dryer WGD8700EC. Bought to replace a 35-year-old Whirlpool set that is still working and had no repairs in that 35 years of ownership. Gave to family member and its working well. Was not a cheap item but well worth the money. It performs beautifully. I chose Whirlpool. It is a proven brand with a long history of reliability. When I bought my last Whirlpool, I bought the top of the line model washer and dryer. They say you get what you pay for and that holds true in my case as has with many others who believe it! So this time I did the same thing and bought the best top loader they had. It has many options I still need to learn. I just use it like the old machine and dont need to worry about types of fabrics or making mistakes. Just follow the instructions for detergent and softeners and all is good. This machine cleans as great as the old one without beating the clothes to death. New agitator design keeps from paddling the clothes, so I dont need to use the gentle cycle or medium to preserve the clothes. The dryer I can say is most efficient as I noticed it took far less time to dry, and notice a small drop in my electric bill and gas bill. I think this will be my last machine ever needed. I do take care of my things and I do clean and polish my machines, they are an investment like a car or house. Front loaders have a lot of problems with leaks from the doors. Will stick with top load only!

My dishwasher is 4 months old and is having some electrical issues. I have had to call into customer service 3 time to try to get a service call. Two of the service calls did not show up. To this Whirlpool said it was not their responsibility. From my experience Whirlpool does not care that the service calls are weeks out, or that the dishwasher does not work.

We bought this Whirlpool electric range in late July when our old stove literally blew up at breakfast. Unlike the local big stores, a small local store had this in stock. They assured us that the oven was self-cleaning. It is not self cleaning. It only cleans the bottom. We have spoken both to the local store and Whirlpool several times. The local store will do nothing. Whirlpool sent us a sponge and a plastic scraping stick. They told us to clean it BY HAND every time we used the oven and were very condescending. We are 75 and 77; we are not about to climb into an oven to attempt cleaning an oven that will not clean. Stay away from the Aqua Clean products like the plague. They do nothing, and Whirlpool will also do nothing. Next step -- court.

In July 2018 I purchased a coin operated commercial front load 27 in washer
In July 2018 I purchased a coin operated commercial front load 27 in washer and dryer. It was placed in and used in a six unit apartment building occupied by 8 long term adults. Prior washers and dryers had been operational for years with minor repairs at times. In June of 2019 the interior cement center balance on the top of the washer drum broke with resulting damage to screws securing the center balance and potentially other unknown parts. This was reported to Whirlpool customer Care service and they referred me to one of their a repair services. The repair service in about early August repaired the washer. In late September 2019 the cement balance broke a second time and this was again reported to Whirlpool service who requested I notify their recommended repair service. On inspecting the washer the repair service stated the entire washer was required to be rebuilt. The labor for installation of would cost me $1,125 with Whirlpool providing the parts under their warranty. The $1,125 labor cost was just under what I paid for a new coin operated front load washer. I reported this to Whirlpool whose supervising staff, without any inspection of damaged washer as to determine whether the washer was fit for its purpose when sold as a commercial washer, rejected any replacement of the less one year old washer and insisted they would only pay for the parts and I would have to pay for the labor, particularly when the both the cost of the replacement parts and the labor would be substantially in excess of a new machine. Due to time and effort constraints the problem was resolved by simply dumping the defective washer and purchasing a new commercial front load washer from a more responsible company.

Whirlpool customer service is non-existent. I have a Whirlpool microwave that burned up after two months of use, and they sent over a technician twice, in the past three weeks and it is still not working. Now, I am being told that it will take another two weeks before the correct part is found, and the technician is sent here again to fix the problem.I have no microwave now, for what is going to be about 5 weeks, and that is only if they get it right this time. Whirlpool wouldnt approve for me to have it traded a trade for a new one at HH Gregg where I purchased it in Aug of 2011. HH Gregg only has a 30-day return policy, and it went bad after 60 days.

My wife and I purchased the Whirlpool French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator in April 2013. Thank God we purchased the extended warranty. In June 2014 the ice maker quit working and delivering water. We have had the service contractor that WHIRLPOOL has qualified for all repairs. They have set up FIVE appointments to resolve the issue, all of which I had to leave work to meet because they do not provide any scheduled service outside the hours of 8am to 4pm. The first time they came the service man told me that WHIRLPOOL RECOGNIZES THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW BECAUSE THESE ARE NOTORIOUS FOR FREEZING UP AND NOT WORKING. I asked the repair man if there has been a recall because of this, he said no because WHIRLPOOL WILL JUST REPAIR THE ONES PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT! I called Whirlpool headquarters today. The advisor said he will register my complaint. I asked, Is that it? What does that mean? He said, I cant tell you what happens after I register the complaint. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT. I hope this may help someone NOT make the same mistake. If you need to talk to someone in upper level management to discuss your issue, forget it...they want the position but no accountability.

Whirlpool makes a beautiful product that does not last. I bought model WRX988SIBM in April 2015. Two years later the compressor is bad and no warranty coverage. Do not buy this model. It does not carry the Whirlpool 2-5 year sealed refrigeration warranty. Its amazing that an appliance that retails over $3K only comes with a 1 year sealed refrigeration warranty when Whirlpool offers it on other models. Be sure you know what your warranty coverage is before you buy any Whirlpool product.

We have had this Refrigerator for 3 years in December of 2016. To date, we have had to call a repairman (in February 2016) to replace a circuit board on the back of the refrigerator. That took 4 days, as the company sent the repairman the wrong parts. After that $300 repair, which we got at a discount because, the repairman felt bad that the company actually sent the wrong part. Since then we have taken it apart ourselves for several reasons: The freezer compartment filled up with a layer of ice and started to melt all over the floor, shutting the refrigerator off, (which then forced us to borrow coolers to store the food) until it could be repaired. The drain tube was completely blocked and in order to fix this problem, the tube had to be taken out and modified, according to the Internet videos we then watched. In order to make all of these repairs, the door, the shelves and baskets have to be removed, which is definitely not an easy thing to do at all. There are so many hidden screws and tabs that must be manipulated with tools and by hand to remove the doors, shelves and trays just to get where you need to be in order to make these repairs. With each repair, the ice maker and water dispenser started having problems, because, each time the refrigerator has to be shut down, it takes hours for it to re-set itself. Luckily my husband had the tools necessary, with videos on the Internet to assist us. However, once the first problem started, it was a snowball effect, literally. ALL of these problems have been identified by the manufacturer, however, nothing has been done. VERY POOR DESIGN!

Whirlpool Washing Machine Model WTW4950XW0 - This washing machine was purchased as a gift by my father. We have owned this machine for about 2 years. I am very disappointed with the quality of this machine. I have 3 children and several pets. I use my machine a lot and need a quality item that will last. This machine is not that item. Within a few months, the machine was off balance and bolts had to be tightened. We have had problems with the belt, bolts coming loose and the machine not draining.More recently, the machine has become very loud... For approximately the last 6 months. My husband has taken the machine apart and looked for anything to be wrong with it and has found nothing. Now the machine is not running. I will turn it on and it fills with water and then stops. I will clear it out and restart it and it does the same thing. Another issue has been with spinning and draining. The clothes are soaking wet even after the drain/spin cycle.I have researched what could possibly be wrong with this machine and have found a vast number of items that could need replaced. With the money I have already put into fixing this machine in the past and the amount it will cost to fix it this time, I believe I will be further ahead if I buy a new machine made by a different company. I will not be buying a Whirlpool product again.

I am getting numerous F1 codes on my Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine, Model #WTW6600SW2. By doing thorough research on this issue I can see the problem is in a known defective control board (part #W10130544). This part has even been replaced by Whirlpool with a new control board costing around $300 for just the part. After calling for repair service, two people (1 agent and 1 supervisor) refused to acknowledge any known issues with this part and further refused to any type of repair or replacement of the part. It is impossible for anyone in that position to not have knowledge of this problem. Simply look on the internet for a countless number of people with this very same complaint. Even though my washer is eight years old it has had very little use. There are only two grown adults in this household and the machine has never been abused or overused. It still looks new. Whirlpool should be honest and responsible when dealing with this type of problem. They should agree to pay for the part and repair service... at the very least they should agree to pay for the part.

Purchased on 04-26, professionally installed on 04-29 into a clean, large, well-ventilated area within the garage. Has turned itself off every day since then. Flashes code 10, screen is dirty... Pull the burner and the screen is clean. Called Whirlpool. They tell me to clean it again, so I do. This goes on for weeks... I can now pull the screen and clean it with my eyes closed. I get up a half hour early every morning to complete my water heater re-lighting procedure so my family can take a warm shower!!! Whirlpool gives me a phone number to a repair company. They tell me the repair person will have parts on the truck. I wait four days, guy comes out and says, You need a control valve.... did they send it to you? So I had to call Whirlpool back and order the valve... three more days... Very next day after repair, the thing shuts itself off again! I call Whirlpool and they try and push me off to the repair company, saying they are now responsible for the repair, but in the same sentence the tech says the heater needs a burner assembly. Okay, so you know it needs a burner assembly, but you ask me to contact the repair company to come out and fix it knowing they DO NOT have the parts on the truck? Only after I change my tone and raise my voice does she offer to send the part ahead of the repair appointment! In my opinion, Whirlpool has reached the top of a list shared by other mega companies like Bank of America and Time Warner Cable... Too bad the accolade is for the worst product and customer service. DO NOT BUY Whirlpool.

We purchased a top loading Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine, Model #WTW8040DWO from Lowe’s on October 15, 2015. Since that time, we have had a service call on three separate occasions. The last service call, the service technician got Whirlpool on the phone with their technician. The washing machine would get stuck at 40 minutes and would continue to fill with water, drain and fill with water and would never progress. After the service technician talked with Whirlpool technician, it was explained the machines electronics were so sensitive that the washing machine had to be on an independent CIRCUIT (meaning absolutely nothing else can be plugged into the circuit). We contacted Whirlpool indicating that was not acceptable. Very few, if any houses, have a washing machine on an independent CIRCUIT. Whirlpools response - I have an independent circuit for every appliance in the house. Obviously, she does not know what a circuit is. Totally disgusted. Will NEVER buy another whirlpool product again. Horrible product and horrible customer service.

We purchased a Whirlpool water heater from Lowes in 2011. Everything was fine up until June 2015. We got the dreaded 4 flashes. We called for service to come out, that costed us around $300. December 23rd of 15 it goes out again. We called Whirlpool instead of a service company and the part was under warranty. We paid for overnight shipping but because of the holiday it was not guaranteed. We told them we are fine with Sat. delivery. In the meantime we had to cancel a holiday party scheduled at our house the 24th. We waited around all day Sat. for the part to show and nothing. We called Whirlpool to get the tracking number and we find out that the other service rep didnt mark our package for Sat. delivery. I am very close to just buying a new heater. We bought this refrigerator because it was the only panel ready one we could find. When it was delivered the two doors did not line up. There was an adjustment that could be made but it required that Whirlpool had to do it. We made an appointment and was told it would cost $179 for the adjustment!! This for a refrigerator we had just purchased for several thousand dollars. The service person showed up and after working on the refrigerator he could not balance the doors. He blamed it on uneven floor, misaligned cabinets – anything he could say to shift the blame from Whirlpool. We called and complained again. They sent out another service person. He was just as useless as the first one. Told us to even out the doors we would need to shim the refrigerator which he would not do. Complained to Whirlpool with no results. I bought in 2008 a Whirlpool Cabrio washer because it was the best. It cost me $900 plus 170 extended warranty for four years. This month, my washer showed an f1 code. I call the Maytag store and guess what, they are not there anymore. They closed the store. I called for my extended warranty and guess what, they are not with Maytag and they filed a chapter 7. So, I spent over $1000 in a machine that only worked three years and now I have to buy another just because no one wants to take the responsibility on the warranty. I have to pay another $300 to fix the problem and even doing that, theres no guarantee that it wont fail again. So, and this is to the people of Maytag and their cheats, you may take my money but you lose me as a customer forever. Thank you for nothing. The only thing still working is the Whirlpool dishwasher but I wonder for how long. Ive talked to Whirlpool and they said I only had a 1 yr warranty and they could not help. I am writing to their corporate office to complain. I have an old Maytag refrigerator that still works and puts out ice in my garage. I went to look at Maytag appliances and just found out that in 2006 Whirlpool took over Maytag. So I will not ever, ever buy another Whirlpool or Maytag again.

Purchased model # WRX7355D8MOO through Lowes summer of 2013. By summer of 2014 ice started building up under freeze drawer. Little did I realize the compressor was failing, air flow was stopped up. Ice maker failed. In 2016 water dispenser calibration off, freezer failed. Called in certified Whirlpool repair. They spent three days troubleshooting problems. Repairmen told me, not to spend any more money to repair this fridge, buy a new fridge. I spent $2300 on this fridge. Its only 2 1/2 years old. Whirlpool better get their quality control issues resolved or shut down the plant. I know many part are made in Mexico, poor quality. Why pay for an expensive appliance that only last two years.

Purchased 11-02-2016. This Whirlpool/Kenmore dishwasher is falling apart. Top rack wheels are totally broken, ordered parts 4 times, gave up. Now they are held together by gorilla glue. I have gone through 3 gray plastic end caps for the top rack runners. Now one is contained by a plastic slip tie. Last week it started leaking. Sears was totally useless. Whirlpool keeps sending me back to them. Now, I have to go buy another new dishwasher. It will not be a Whirlpool. Next time getting the extended warranty.

In 2007, I purchased two 30 gal. Whirlpool Flame Lock water heaters (Model: FG1F3030T3NOV) from Lowes for two different homes that I own. I started having trouble with one of them after about two months. I replaced the thermocouple several times, with each one working only about a month. After that, Lowes replaced the complete burner assembly and that, so far, fixed the problem. Now, the second one has (1 Oct 11) gone out. The local Lowes told me that they are out of the burner assembly for this water heater. I called them this evening and was told that they didnt know when they would have the part, but to call back about every other day to see if they had received the burner assembly for this water heater. They said that it could be from two days to two weeks before they may receive this part!In 2008, I also purchased a 40 gal. Whirlpool Flame Lock water heater (Model: BFG1F4034T3NOV) for my house and no problems so far. In 2007, I even recommended that a friend of mine purchase and install one of these in a home that he owned. He did. I helped him install it and it later had the same problems! I am now needing a water heater for my workshop. What can I buy thats dependable?

My wife and I purchased a Cabrio washing machine and dryer, this is by far the worst washing machine we’ve ever owned. It hardly fills, even in deep water cycle. If you watch the clothes through the smoked glass lid with a flashlight, you can see they don’t even go underwater. The dryer seems to be fine but I would never recommend the washing machine to anybody looking to buy one.

We purchased a new refrigerator and dishwasher about three and a half years
We purchased a new refrigerator and dishwasher about three and a half years ago. There are only two of us living in the house and we both work so it is not like we use our dishwasher every day. Dishwasher is Whirlpool Whisper Quiet III Gold model. About three months ago, the panel lights quit working but the dishwasher would still run. Now the blasted thing will not even turn on. Our ice maker freezes up and we are always having to ice pick out the ice and clean out the ice maker. Basically, we never use it because we are tired of the process of cleaning it just to have ice. Now after reading reviews, I do not want to fork out the money to have a repair person come in and fix the dishwasher which most likely will break down somewhere else. Plus the dishwasher tray has a lot of broken tips and are rusty and I have actually had to file a few to keep from getting stabbed by the sharp point. The previous dishwasher worked great and had been in the house for over 15 years. I wish I could remember what brand it was. I only replaced it because I wanted one to match the refrigerator. I am appalled at the quality of the Whirlpool products. I have to get another dishwasher and I have other things that I need to spend my money on rather than a dishwasher. I wont buy another Whirlpool product as of September 13, 2013.

I apparently am one of the lucky ones to have an electric water heater. My unit started giving me failure codes during the Christmas holidays. Each time it would fail, I would get a different failure code indicating the upper element, the lower element, and a sensor failure. After testing all 3 of these components, it was determined to be a controller issue. After speaking with Chris on the phone, he overnighted a new controller to me. I installed the new controller and had no more failures. Hot showers for New Years! Thank you Chris.

I purchased it new in July 2008 for $550, a single homeowner average 4-5 loads a week. First time it broke down, it was just inside the one-year limited warranty. It broke down again Sept. 2011, the basket separated from spinning mechanism. I learned that after $75+ missing day of work, repair tech quoted cost of repair $885 and a minimum of 10 days waiting for part to arrive.I called Whirlpool, the guy on the phone was nice but told me I was out of luck. Even if I had purchased the 3-year warranty, I would still be out of luck. The washer was manufactured in April 2008. What a piece of junk. Save your money and skip it. I wish I had. Aside: Whirlpool, whatever happened to standing behind your products? I used to think you were a quality brand. Im extremely disappointed and wont be purchasing any of your products in the future.

Two years ago, we bought a Whirlpool gas range, model WFG361LVQ2. The range-top grates were porcelain-coated, smooth and shiny. The range itself has worked flawlessly (Admittedly, it gets only light use in our elderly household, which consists of me and my wife). The only complaint I have is that the porcelain on the grates is failing. On one of the grates, its flaking off where the flame contacts with it during cooking (Photos attached). On another two, the porcelain has developed a surface roughness thats clearly a prelude to same type of damage as the first. The fourth grate still appears to be intact. The differences in damage is no doubt due to the different amount of use that each receives. When I called Whirlpool, a supervisor there told me that grates have no specific life expectancy, and that is true for plain metal grates as well has porcelain-coated grates. She also said that some chemicals can penetrate the porcelain and shorten its life. I told her we didnt use any chemicals on the grates, but only rarely used common kitchen scouring powder, and I cant imagine the powder or the chlorine in the powder could do that kind of damage. When I asked what it would cost to replace the four grates, she said $187. I told her the entire stove cost about $500, and it didnt make sense to pay almost $200 to buy grates every two years for the next thirty years. I told her that the grates on our previous (non-Whirlpool) range lasted the life of the range - about forty years. So I declined to purchase new grates, despite her offer of a one-time discount of 25%. Though the grates are becoming eyesores, theyre still perfectly usable. So Ill hang onto them until I can find some bare metal ones to replace them.

We went away to Mexico for 4 months this past winter and this spring the noise seems to be much worse. It seems to have changed -- and we called Whirlpool and they would not help. They said we pay even though we bought this fridge less than a year ago. Consumers should be made aware that if your fridge is noisy you pay for any servicing - they only cover a malfunction. My fridge needs a professional to look at the cause of the loud motor noise.

We purchased our Whirlpool french door refrigerator with bottom freezer, model number WRF990SLAM02, from Lowes in August 2013. In November 2013 we noticed a pool of water on the floor, resulting from what looked like a leak coming from the ice maker. After contacting customer service, they sent a repair company to service the fridge. This rep stayed no longer than 5 minutes and barely looked at the appliance. He said this is a known issue by the company, they have since implemented a fix in the newer models, and it just needed one replacement part and would be good as new. It did NOT fix the problem, it continued to worsen to the point where the freezer is no longer working. I have a freezer full of defrosted food that is not safe to eat. Whirlpool finally agreed (after 3 months) to send another repair company to look at the fridge. This rep took over an hour thoroughly examining the appliance and concluded that it could not be repaired and would need to be replaced; otherwise, we could expect the same issue to keep recurring. Whirlpool did agree to replace the fridge, but has not been able to provide a timeframe. I was contacted by a representative from the product replacement line named Alisha, but she has never answered her phone I have returned her calls. I finally got a representative on the line who informed me I need to wait until I get a call letting me know the replacement product is in-stock. That was 3 weeks ago, and this morning I woke up to a huge water leak coming from the fridge. Whirlpool has deflected the issue off to Lowes, where I purchased it, and said they will have no further contact with me regarding the appliance. I will NEVER purchase another product from this company again. They seemingly left a faulty product on the market and failed to inform me about the known issue. Then they failed to quickly provide needed repair or replacement in a timely manner. They also refuse to reimburse me for the food loss, which would not have ever occurred had they handled the issue appropriately from the beginning. TERRIBLE company.

Whirlpool Accubake Gas stove/oven - Several times now, in the year and a half that Ive owned this appliance, Ive had issues with the knobs easily being turned on. The pilot never lights, and gas leaks horribly. One day I decided to take my daughter to the park and wed ran into the kitchen to grab a few drinks. A few hours later when we came home, I barely got the key in the door when I smelled gas. I left the door wide open and stepped inside the house and saw the not one, but two knobs had somehow been turned on. Im assuming that when my daughter and I grabbed our drinks, one or both of us must have barely bumped the knobs. We had to stand outside and leave the front door open for over an hour to air out the house!Ive found that I literally have to keep the knobs off the stove to prevent the gas from leaking in our home and someone passing out. NEVER in a million years would I have made such a huge purchase (and yes, its a huge purchase for a single mother!) on something thats used on a daily basis if I had known what a danger it could be. I almost forgot to add, that the stove top grill began rusting the first time I washed them off and the oven often does not light and we have to leave the drip pan unscrewed in order to light the pilot.

Quiet Partner II - Our dishwasher racks started to crack and rust very quickly, about two years after purchase. We repaired the racks and tines, but the rust got worse. We replaced our dishwasher today with another brand. Many of the tines on the drying rack had rusted and broken off. We have been told to only purchase Nylon racks. I hope this is good advice. I must admit I had no trouble with the machine as far as cleaning my dishes. I just felt the racks should last longer than two years. Cost to replace racks was about the same as replacing the whole machine.

Looked for the best refrig we could find and it turned out to be a piece of junk! Less than 3 years old, paid 2700$, french doors bottom door freezer. It started making a lot of noise it seem to be coming from freezer. Called Whirlpool, they said to clean coils. We wanted a repair company to come out. They set an appointment for next Tuesday between 12pm and 5pm. Said ok.Was making so much noise, and no longer freezing everything so call said company. Lady was very rude, and said they would not be out on Tuesday but sometime the following week. This would not work for us so called another repair shop, said they would be out. They were here before 6pm. Found out that they have been having this problem, had same type of call already this week. Repair for this problem would be over $1100.00. No thank you! I purchased Whirlpool french door refrigerator wrf535smbm00 at the beginning of this year and it has really made my house an unpleasant place to be. My main complaint is that it is very, very loud, and seems to vibrate through the whole house. It runs most of the time at a level of 60 dB, which might be considered a low noise level for a mechanical appliance that runs occasionally like a dishwasher, but is quite loud for an appliance that, according to their own specs, runs at least 40% of the time. Nobody wants to notice their refrigerator. They just want it to work.Which brings me to my second complaint, the temperature control is all over the place, generally ranging from 25-50 F. I find it difficult to believe that the government, which always seems overly concerned about the temperature of restaurant food, or the pasteurization of cheeses doesnt care that an appliance nearly every American household has doesnt necessarily do its job, and isnt required to display internal temperature. The old-fashioned set this dial to an arbitrary number and hope its cool enough is not charming. Finally, though the finish is listed as stainless steel, mine started sporting tiny rust spots after only three months. Whirlpool states that Cosmetic issues are covered by the manufacturers warranty for the first 30 days of ownership only. After the first 30 days any repairs for cosmetic issues are the consumers responsibility. It seems as though they know theyve used a low grade of stainless steel.

Late on the evening of Monday, January 27, 2014, after springing a leak in
Late on the evening of Monday, January 27, 2014, after springing a leak in my 8-year-old water heater, I purchased a new Whirlpool model N50T61 replacement from Lowes. Installation went smoothly and the unit lit off fine the first time. It heated the initial tank of water rather quickly, but the next morning, I noticed the status light on the control unit was not blinking, which indicated the pilot light had gone out. I relit the pilot light, the water heater fired off and appeared to be working properly. 12 hours later, the status light was out again. I relit the pilot, but within 20 minutes, it went out again. On Wednesday, the 29th, I called Whirlpool customer service and explained to the representative what had been happening. He stated that since the status light was not blinking a code, the problem was either an air supply or venting problem, and he couldnt help me. I relit the water heater again and performed the match smoke test described in the owners manual on the vent connection. It did exactly what the manual said it should do, so I assumed that was not the problem. However, while performing this test, the water heater went out again. This time, being right there when it shut off, I saw the status light blink twice about 5 or 6 times before it quit blinking all together. The two blink error code indicated low millivolt signal from thermopile.I called customer service again and explained to the representative what the first person had told me and also told him the results of my test and that this time, I had observed the two blink error code. He asked if I had a multimeter (which I do), so he had me disconnect the wires for the thermopile, connect the meter to the wires, light the pilot and read the voltage. My meter is an old analog unit, and not capable of reading millivolts (which is what the thermopile output is), and I informed the rep of this, but he had me do it anyway. As I suspected, I saw absolutely no reading on the meter. The service rep stated that he believed the error code and decided to send me a new thermopile assembly. However, their shipping department was closed for the day and I should not expect to see the new part until Friday. This was unacceptable, but he stated that this was the only option available to me.After thinking about this situation for a while, I again called Whirlpool customer service and told the representative that I was not satisfied with the solution previously presented to me and that I wanted a return authorization to take the water heater back to Lowes for replacement. The rep stated he couldnt do that, but said that there were a couple other things I could try. He attempted to explain these procedures to me, but wasnt able to do so clearly. He stated he would email the instructions to me. As of this writing, I still have not received the instructions. In the meantime, I did some internet research and found that Whirlpool water heaters have numerous chronic problems, including the issues I was experiencing. I decided this was not a product I cared to own. I called the Lowes store where I purchased the water heater and spoke with the manager. I explained the entire sequence of events to him, and he told me to bring the water heater back for a full refund. Since my local Lowes store only sells the Whirlpool brand, I took the money and purchased a different brand of water heater from another home improvement store. Needless to say, it will be a cold day in hell before I ever purchase another Whirlpool product.

We bought all new appliances Stove, Frig., Microwave, and Washing machine. The washing machine does not get the clothes clean. Most of the time it either does not put enough water in to get the clothes wet or it will not spin. We had it less than six months and had to call for a repairman and to this day it is not any better. The Frig. we bought is noisy and makes a high pitch sound that sounds like a motorcycle taking off. We had everyone over at thanksgiving only to find out the ice maker had stopped working. The microwave does not heat very well at all and at times if you open the door before it has stopped it continues to run. Everything was purchased at the same time from Lowes about a year ago. I will never purchase another whirlpool appliance.
