Product Reviews:

I had a new Rheem Classic Heating and Air Conditioner installed on 6-14-2012, or at least my Homeowners insurance did. After receiving 2 bids for replacement, my insurance company awarded the bid to a dealer who installed Rheem Units. The unit was a combo heating and air conditioner unit that sits outside, at the back of the house. It is a RRNL unit. It is a 2- 1/2 ton unit, which was the size of the one replaced. The old one kept our house cool in the summer and warm in the winter, unit it suffered hail damage that rendered it useless.Long story short, the new unit has never worked right as it does not even come close to cooling our house. Of course our old unit had real Freon in it where the new unit uses the 410A stuff. Unit has already had to have compressor replaced, has already had to have Freon added once and needs again and a new fan motor. It is not even 4 years old yet. The fan on the unit runs continually and never shuts off in the summer. We keep the thermostat set at 72 and according to the digital readout, the unit never cools the house down to this point, thus running day and night.I had to pay $200.00 labor to have the compressor replaced under warranty, which I don't think I should have had to do. When the fan went out a couple of weeks ago, I asked the installer/repairman if there was any recalls on this unit and do they ever get a LEMON in these. He told me no on both questions. I had to pay to have Freon installed, but the fan was replaced under warranty and he did not charge me to switch out. I am really dissatisfied with this unit and which I had my old one back, or at least this one replaced.

Just over ten years ago, we built a new home in Pennsylvania and decided on a Carrier heat pump because of anticipated quality and longevity. The outdoor unit is a 38YDB using a Bristol compressor. The compressor recently failed after 10 years and 6 months. Through our HVAC repair company, we knew that Carrier has had problems with the Bristol compressors (which are no longer used) and our repair company should know since they have been a dealer for almost 30 years.I contacted Carrier customer service and customer relations personnel by telephone and I made them aware (although they didn't acknowledge) of the company's compressor problems. I asked two questions : 1) would Carrier provide some satisfaction to our situation with regard to how close to the warranty the failure occurred? and 2) if we should choose to purchase a new Carrier unit, would the company provide any type of recompense toward the cost of the new unit? Carrier provided nothing in response to my inquiries. Essentially, "No, we're not going to provide any measure of customer relief or satisfaction" and with the tone of, "nor do we really care if you take your business elsewhere." This I will certainly do!

On October 16, 2012 we were awakened by a terrible noise coming from our Goodman HVAC unit inside our 6-year-old Fischer condo. We found that the noise went away when we turned off the heat, which is not feasible when the weather has turned cold recently. Since we have been under a service agreement for the past 2 years with Rick's Heating and Cooling I had them come out and upon investigation it was determined that the noise was related to vibration in the extremely long line-set (approximately 106-110 feet) and DelMonde (the installation company) had paired the 3-ton outdoor heat pump with a 2-1/2 ton inside air handler. We have not been able to use the heat pump as the compressor is failing and the coil on the interior air handler has also failed. Therefore, we have been relying strictly on "emergency" heat and space heaters and keeping the thermostat low in an attempt to minimize our electric bills.Additionally, Rick Martin of Rick's Heating & Cooling states that even if we replace the heating and air conditioning system he cannot guarantee future performance due to faulty installation of the existing line. Ideally, the entire system needs to be replaced and new Freon lines run in the proper location. This could be a considerable cost to us and may possibly also involve having to cut through our drywall and that of our neighbors'. Naturally, we do not wish to involve our neighbor in this matter, nor do we want to have to bring it up before our condo association board and would like to minimize intrusion and inconvenience of others. As luck would have it the heat pump only had a 5-year warranty and the coil has a ten-year warranty, however, DelMonde failed to register either item for the warranties. After many weeks of getting opinions from other HVAC companies, two visits from DelMonde, and numerous phones calls with Gary ** of Fischer Homes Warranty Dept. we had an inspection on December 5 with representatives from DelMonde (the installation company), a Goodman factory rep., and Gary ** of Fischer. On December 10, 2012 we received a written opinion from Rob **, the Goodman factory rep, who declared that the refrigerant line set was within guidelines of 150 feet and "equates to a capacity decrease from rating of approximately 12%" and "It is not outside our allowable design parameters per the R-22 Long Line Set Application guide and is not detrimental to the system operation." He further noted that the heat pump and air handler is a "proper" match ... and he "can find no issues with the application or installation."This is very perplexing to us, especially since 3 different HVAC specialists have indicated that the very long line set is much longer than they would deem appropriate and heat pump/air handler do not appear to be a proper match. On December 16, I wrote a response to Rob ** stating that we are not satisfied with his findings and felt the cost burden to replace our HVAC system should be equally shared by Goodman, Fischer, DelMonde and us. To date, we have yet to receive a reply to my proposal.

Rheem 80,000 BTU heat pump - I purchased a complete HVAC package two years ago through an installer in my area (Loveland, Ohio). The product is a high efficiency Rheem. Almost immediately and continuing today, the heat pump shuts down because of condensation working its way into a vacuum line that monitors the gas valve. I have been told that this problem is particular to Rheem (and they are aware), but have not corrected the problem. I tried submitting my problem and complaint to Rheem on their website but when I press the submit button, nothing. The comments go nowhere. I have turned the gas valve a 180 degrees on its bracket so the tube has a slight back flow. I'm hoping this helps eliminate the problem. I will never purchase another Rheem product again.

Purchased the new heat pump in 2014. It replaced a 25+ year old YORK system. Within a year the condenser developed a violent shaking and rattling during a storm. We called an American Standard recommended technician in our area and he said unit developed a leak. We got it fixed at our cost of $600. The unit also has a musty odor called stinky sock smell occasionally when we turn it on...It is disgusting so we installed an ultraviolet light again at our cost....Needless to say our other heater never had any shaking or smells. We contacted American Standard to try to figure out what the problem was with the shaking and smell. We got no answers and told us parts were under warranty but not labor... In 2019 the compressor failed, we replaced that to the tune of 1700 labor costs. A month later another part inside. Within a week a reverse coil part failed. WE contacted American Standard/TRANE to file a complaint regarding the unit and our costs to replace parts. We have maintained the unit and sent a 40 page pdf of a history of maintenance and repairs. So far there has been no response even though we have called several times to find out about our case. Lesson learned. Do not buy a new American Standard/Trane hvac.

Installed a Carrier HVAC in 2016 remodel. A year later the outside coil was leaking. Carrier agreed to replace the defective part, but not the labor costs. $1,000! This week A/C doesn't work and we find out a different coil is leaking. Another defective part that Carrier agrees to replace under warranty but not labor costs. In for another $500! This is absolutely unacceptable. My story is not different from many I've read here. How do we go about initializing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!

Very pleased with recent complete A/C purchase. Unit works exceptionally well. The technician, Azi, did a great job installing & explaining functions of the unit. He was very courteous & professional during entire process. Highly recommend!

My fridge is only 8 months old and stopped working about 5 weeks ago. They have sent repair techs out 5 times, replaced the compressor, condenser, some fan thing and evaporator. It worked for 2 days then the compressor started leaking again. I've lost 2 refrigerator full of groceries. It damaged my floor. I was unable to have family over for Christmas and I've been using a mini fridge. The Whirlpool customer service people have been no help and some have been very rude. I have no idea when this will ever be fixed. There is no way I would ever buy any appliance from Whirlpool again. Terrible experience.

High-quality air conditioning units at an affordable price means that American Standard is accessible to pretty much everyone and offers something that most people would be satisfied with. Though there aren’t many premium models past a 22 SEER, the focus on cooling and the breadth of the lineup means that Canadians stay reliably cool during a hot summer.

Similar to most postings... Newly constructed home with 2 new Carrier HVAC units. One 4 ton and the other 2 ton. The 2 ton has been serviced 3 times in the past 12 months. The first 2 visits were covered by the home builder; However, the last visit I had to absorb. I do have a ten-year warranty on the units... The 2 ton failed again and it cost me 305.00 for labor and diagnostic fee. I asked Carrier to reimburse me as this was the 3rd failure in 12 months. They declined any help whatsoever. I will never buy a home that has a Carrier HVAC system nor will I recommend anyone to buy Carrier. The HVAC company that came out to service it also said the part they had to replace routinely fail, yet Carrier accepts no responsibility... Carrier stinks...
