Product Reviews:

We purchased a Trane XL18i high-efficiency heat pump back in the fall. We have had many issues with the unit since installation. It was initially not installed correctly and continues to not work properly. We thought Trane was a good product, but we are seriously questioning this. Now that the season has changed and we are using A/C for the first time, it does not work correctly. We spent thousands of dollars and NO ONE seems to be able to rectify the issues. We have been given our 3rd thermostat (I don't think there's anything wrong with the thermostats), and I'm really not so sure that there isn't a much bigger issue with the installation or unit itself. We believe at this point that the entire installation needs to be checked, including all wiring that was done with it to find the problem and resolve it once and for all. The Trane dealer we used is useless, so we called the Trane 1-800 number and requested a field service rep be sent out. They refused and said that they didn't care about the issue, talk to the dealer. They really don't stand behind their product! We are obviously not alone with this experience, so couldn't we all band together for a class action lawsuit? Any attorney's reading this or does anyone know an attorney who would take this on? I am on board with this. We would love a refund at this point and have them take all the equipment back so we can go with another company. Wishful thinking.

The worst product ever used. Something on the furnace broke and it shredded items in house, endangering human life. The absolute worst furnace ever used. The furnace shredded and burnt stuff in the house. Poor quality product. It happened about 3 years of using it, and then something on the furnace broke, leaking water everywhere. This is a Carrier furnace that uses a boiler. After fixing the water leakage. It started to shred items in the house, causing excruciating pains and sufferings. Please everyone with similar problems with Carrier furnace, should start a class action lawsuit.

I had a Carrier ac unit installed in my new home in 2016. I have regular scheduled maintenance every 6 months. Today at my maintenance visit I was charged $523.25 because of a bad TXV valve. My unit is currently off as I am waiting for the part. After paying almost $5200 for the unit and air handler I should not have to be replacing defective parts. I would not recommend Carrier products.

We installed an XL15 system in our home - heat pump, air handler, etc. near the end of 2011. 6 mos. after it was installed the fan motor on the air handler died. It took a week to obtain the replacement. Now, in May of 2019 we're dealing with the need for other parts for the air handler - a circuit board, valve, EVAP sensor and another sensor. Parts take much too long to be obtained. They say 3-5 business days, but we're already past 4 days and I don't expect to see them within 5. So, buyer beware that unless the part(s) you need are readily and locally available, you could have a problem. The risk is high and when we replace this system it will NOT be with a Trane system.

My new Goodman heat pump lasted almost a year before losing the freon. Multiple repairs failed. Goodman will not honor the warranty, and I don't want to hassle with legal issues. Looking for a new unit after only 2 years. I will not purchase Goodman products again.

Shortly after the 5-year warranty ran out on my Trane heat pump, I had to replace the motor ($600). 1.5 years later, I had to replace the compressor. I will never buy another Trane and will spread the word that this is a terrible product.

Purchased new Trane XL15i electric heat pump system for over $14K in 2013. Never used since house has wood heat, electric heat pumps are costly and A/C not necessary, Purchased for home re-sale. Discovered unit not operating in January 2015 - first time we attempted to heat house. Now almost May and unit still not working. So far fan motor has been replaced, a capacitor, two circuit boards, and now more Freon added. It appeared to work, but original problem appeared next day. Either units are defective, or technicians have insufficient repair training. I want to sell home, but it won't pass home inspection until the unit works. I should have read reviews, but assumed Trane was a reputable brand. It is essential to have a back up heating system if you choose this product. Unit is attractive and looks "high tech". Too bad it cannot function.

In September 2009, I had an XL 15 Trane Heat Pump and air handler installed in my new home. In June of 2012, it was diagnosed with a leaking evaporator coil. The new coil was ordered and it was installed on June 19, 2012. I was presented a bill by the service tech for $960. The evaporator coil was under warranty, but I had to pay the shipping of $100 for the new coil and the return shipping of $100 for the old coil. I called the Trane representative for this area and he stated that he had no knowledge of any problem with their evaporator coils. Basically he said that it was too bad and offered no help at all. I would never recommend any Trane product. They have a poor quality product and an even worse customer service department. If there is a class action suit, I wish to be included.

I had a Carrier heat pump and air handler installed in 2017 (Comfort 25HCE418.1.5 ton... w/SEER 14.5; Carrier Performance fan coil w/variable speed DC blower). I had all the scheduled maintenance and now the evaporator coil leaked and I am being told it will cost $1425 to fix just for labor! What good is having a new system if it costs this much to fix? I was told by the tech that they had to replace these evaporator coils after one year! Even with the parts covered the labor is cost prohibitive. If these systems cannot be maintained even with regular maintenance, which was also expensive, then they must be defective! My heating and cooling bills were also huge and the thermostat had constant problems - going out, or not registering the correct temperature. You would think these companies would be concerned about their reputations. You would think that the certified dealers would also be concerned about the quality of these products. You would think there was some integrity in this business.

Installed new Bryant heat pump unit and Carrier unit 7 years ago. The large print communicates a 10 warranty on parts and labor, finer print says 5 yrs unless registered within 90 days, not sure what providing and name and phone number has to do with adding another 5 years - needless to say, bad on me for not reading the finer print and registering. On my second (third if you count the original) heat pump fan motor. 1st covered under the 5 year warranty, second $800 plus was not.Now my blower fan on the Carrier unit is gone. Again no luck with Carrier on honoring or at least part of the $1280 cost to replace the unit. They were unwavering on their position that because I did not register that they would not honor the same warranty they would have to in one of the three states that have laws covering such warranty conditions. Between differing house I’ve installed three new higher-end Carrier ac-heating systems. Never again.
