Product Reviews:

I purchased a Reliance 606 water heater in 2010. Within a few months, I experienced problems with keeping it turned on. Constantly, I had to re-light it just to have it go off in a few days. I called the technician listed in user's manual many times who gave me a complete runaround. They told me I needed to have a local contractor come and test it for various things, which I did at my expense! I was told Reliance knows of the manufacturing failures but refuses to respond to customer complaints. A plumber contractor replaced parts at my expense and the water heater worked for less than one year only to have the same replacement part break again! I made more calls to Reliance and again no help was offered. They refused to honor warranties (manufacturing book states six-year warranty on parts) and have a total lack of customer service. He would not tell me his name, allow me to speak to a supervisor or anyone responsible for problems. I do believe hot water heaters are expected to last longer than one year! I also heard Reliance is now manufacturing under a different name but not sure what it is. I now have to purchase a new water heater at great expense to me. Do not buy Reliance water heaters ever!

This company was rated highly, but then they started having their product made in China. After 4 years our water heater started leaking. It is covered under warranty, but not installation. At this point, it is hard to find a distributor that even carries Rheem due to their product becoming so poorly made. Do yourself a favor and less headaches... Don't buy Rheem.

I have this tankless water heater for the past 4 years. I have never had any problem . The only problem that i have is that my water bill went up..... my kids and wife stay longer in the shower and before the hot water would run out and they would get out of the shower . Be aware hot water won't run out but water bill will run up!

On 8-12-16 my Rheem hot water heater which is (2) yrs old went to vacation mode and I only had warm water. Plumber spoke with Rheem and they recommend replacement of gas valve. Rheem sent part and it was replaced 5 days later. After a few days it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and was told they would send another gas valve for replacement. After 2nd replacement of valve, a few days later it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of vapor sensor. Vapor sensor was installed and again went to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of wire harness. After this replacement I had NO warm water. Plumber replaced complete unit on 9-24-16. Rheem covered the water heater but would not cover labor. Because of all their replacement recommendations my labor charges came to 1767.00. After reading the other reviews, why isn't this heater recalled?

We purchased and installed heater on November 7, 2014. We own several rental properties and have installed many water heaters, we always bleed the water lines and then get power to the unit. We heard from the renters that evening that they had no hot water. The hardware store replaced this with an identical unit which was installed on November 9th. The tenants again had no hot water that evening. We called the Customer Service Number on Monday, 11/10 and were told we must have caused a dry burn and because it was not installed by a professional. We sent a licensed electrician over and he reported there was too much resistance in the top heating element, (he stated the Reliance system heats the top element 20% and then switches to the bottom unit and heats it to 20% and continues this rotation - he has never seen a heating system like this) he called the Customer Service Number and basically was told the same thing .... there was a dry burn and there was no coverage for this. The hardware store replaced the upper heating element for us that evening, Monday, 11/10 and we replaced that part. There was only warm water for a short period of time before we again heard from the tenants that there was no hot water. We replaced this unit with a Richmond and have had no problems.

Purchased last summer when my tank water heater gave up the ghost. I waited until December to rate it because I wanted to see how it preformed under winter conditions. My home is in the Colorado Rockies at an altitude of nearly 8000 feet and the water incoming into my house 34 degrees. This water heater has preformed flawlessly under those challenging conditions.

This unit was just in service for over 3 years when the gas controller failed. About 6 months later, the tank developed a leak where the flame was impinging on the bottom. Because of new government energy regulations, this unit is supposed not available anymore and I'm going to have to pay $50-100 more for the equivalent replacement. While under warranty, failures like this before the unit is even 4 years old is unacceptable. Not to mention that I have to pay a plumber to fix them.

After debating whether or not I wanted to have a tankless water heater installed I finally decided to replace my old water heater with another Bradford White. Great water heater. Tankless would have been nice but I plan on moving in 5 to 8 years and just don't know if I'll see the return on my investment.

I bought the Whirlpool gas water heater less than 1 year ago from Home Depot. It does not work. The pilot light will not spark to ignite the gas. Customer service is never available when you call, you get a message machine. Going forward, I will never buy a Whirlpool product and I will recommend friends and family to boycott Whirlpool. The 6-year warranty is worthless. You can't rely on the warranty. You can't rely on the water heater. You can't rely on Whirlpool to stand behind their product. The water heater is junk.
