Product Reviews:

Although we live in Canada, we purchased our slide-in oven at Sears Roebuck
Although we live in Canada, we purchased our slide-in oven at Sears Roebuck in Buffalo, NY only because of the size availability only in the US (actually, the unit was manufactured in Canada as we found out later!). Obviously, this created another problem since the unit was not underwritten by Canadian Electric codes, Sears Canada repair would not touch it! Once installed, it worked great until the first problem with the oven quitting after self-cleaning. It is the second time in 3 years that both the thermostat and the sensor went in this RBS245 slide-in oven. Once the self-clean cycle completes (quite smelly!) and cools, the oven does not operate rendering the oven useless. First time, in 2009, Sears repair only suggested (since they would not do repair on it for reasons stated above) which parts could be faulty: Timer, sensor, thermostat or elements. It was thought to be the electronic timer unit, which was replaced at a $215 (needlessly) because that was OK. Both thermostat and sensor cost $150. Even the elements were replaced, $52. The second time, just a week ago, exactly the same happened. I replaced the 2 items: Sensor and thermostat at a cost of $154 and the oven worked fine again. I called both Whirlpool US and Canada, but no one could/would give any answers why this happens. So far, it cost $600 in parts to repair! This is nonsense from a company that has had good reputation and record. Obviously, that is changing! If Whirlpool cannot engineer a product that works as they say it does, they should close the shop! Reading here, there are others who complained with the same problem. It is time for Whirlpool to come clean!

Piece of crap. We built home 2 years ago and have all gold series appliances! They are all CRAP. Wish we would’ve upgraded to KitchenAid. Dishwasher won’t wash, microwave has hot spots and has to be unplugged and plugged back in often to work. Freezer side of the refrigerator will stop making ice because it freezes up often! Bought the Whirlpool Duet washing machine. It lasted around eight years. In the meantime I was replacing the rubber door seal cleaning out the pump constantly. The plastic pieces inside the drum all broke. Every few months I would get an error code. And During spin cycle it would literally shake my entire house. The problem with all the front loaders is the construction of the drum and the drum bracket. They are made of dissimilar materials. (Stainless and zinc) When you add soap to the water then the bracket becomes an anode and the drum becomes a cathode, which creates electrolysis which corrodes the bracket. When the bracket breaks your machine is totaled. I’m finished with every manufacture except Speed Queen. I bought a Top loader Speed Queen and I love it, it is built like a tank.

Bought Whirlpool French door refrigerator. Unit was defective when delivered and I told them so. That was on 06/14/2013. Unit got progressively worse and finally has quit completely. At Whirlpools suggestion we bought a Whirlpool Repair Plan Plus One (another scam) for $300. Repairman came out and told us the refrigerator couldnt be fixed. Now Whirlpool suggests their only option is for us to buy a discounted model. This refrigerator went from bad to not working at all in less than a year and a half. Anyone that buys a Whirlpool appliance with knowledge of how they treat customers and back their products has to be a little crazy.

I purchased a brand new refrigerator model # WRX735SDBM00 Ser # K51621170 on 30 June at Lowes. Paid about 1600.00. Within 5 days the ice maker was no longer functioning. I called the service department and a lengthy ordeal commenced of trying to repair. It is now 13 August 2015 and I have had over 10 visits from a technician and I still have no ice. I made a terrible mistake in not returning the appliance to the store within 30 days so now it has to go through the process which means that now I have to continue to wait until the technicians deem that this appliance is not repairable anymore before I can attempt to get a replacement. In the meantime, we have been inconvenienced, aggravated not to mention not be provided a product that works with no future date where I can get this appliance repaired. The local store management have been great to deal with and are trying but their hands are tied until the manufacturer determines they cant fix. In the meantime, the consumer is continuing to wait for the repair/replacement. No one seems to care or has there been any discussion of some compensation (not necessarily money) for the aggravation and inconvenience I have endured. Something is just not right. Suffice to say, never again will I buy a Whirlpool. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

April 1, 2018 we purchased a new Whirlpool 36in. W25 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator, model # WRF555SDHV, Serial #**. On 2/15/2019 the ice maker quit working. Kirbys Appliance in Prineville, OR ordered a new ice maker and installed it (it was still on warranty). On 5/8/2020 the ice maker quit working again...I called Whirlpool Customer eXperience Center, 1-800-253-1301. Had I purchased an extended warranty, it would have expired 3/31/2020. No one will come and fix or replace the ice maker at my expense, because of COVID-19. So, we purchased our $1,999.02 Whirlpool that does not make ice!! I will never buy another Whirlpool Appliance again.

My parents 89 and 76 years old bought a Whirlpool fridge a few months ago.
My parents 89 and 76 years old bought a Whirlpool fridge a few months ago. A month after purchase fridge built up moisture terribly. Water was laying inside so much seeping on floor. We called, Whirlpool sent serviceman out. Serviceman number 1 put some kind of black tape in the door saying it was the seal. We were just disgusted over this and it didnt work. We called again, serviceman number 2 came out, said bad door, so he ordered door. Serviceman number 3 came out, replaced door. Moisture still in fridge, food isnt staying cool, and you can physically still see gap indoor. We called again. Serviceman number 4 came out and said fridge is not level due to floor in house. But nothing wrong with floor in house. This serviceman pushed on fridge said to my 89 year old dad and 76 year old mother and I quote, Put a piece of wood under this side of fridge. We will not replace this fridge. Now mind the fridge was delivered and set up by Lowes. So now this brand new fridge is no good and we have had no help whatsoever to fix this problem. So my parents whom have been married for 62 years with 5 grown children, 16 grandchildren, a 36 greatgrandchildren and 1 great great grandchild have promised none of us will ever look at another Whirlpool anything much less purchase a whirlpool appliance. Just for the simple fact of how a multi trillion dollar company will not stand behind their warranty nor name. We are disgusted with the whole situation. This is the worst experience any of us have ever had. So no I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone for the simply fact of the way my parents have been so disrespected by this company. Its horrible to know this kind of behavior is even allowed for employees to disrespect people. The Whirlpool fridge is warped, damaged from the time it was built. The warranty I hold in my hand says and I quote after 3 visits and problem not fixed fridge will be replaced.Well Whirlpool has been out 4 times and has refused to replace it. This couple has worked hard all of there lifes, lives on a fixed income and has just threw away money on a Whirlpool fridge they cant use. So now we have are in the process of hiring a lawyer. Its the principle of Good Vs Evil with Whirlpool. How whirlpool has refused to stand behind the Whirlpool warranty. So Like I said earlier I would never recommend buying any product that has anything to do with whirlpool. Shame on Whirlpool just shame on them.

Cabrio - In Dec 2013: Ran the Clean washer cycle and it would not cut off. I had to shut off manually. Called the company and they sent a technician, who said he fixed it and that everything was good. Fast forward to Feb 2015: Tried cleaning the washer again. When I left the house there were 10 minutes left in the cycle. When I arrived home 7 hrs later, the washer was still running and my hot water heater had cut off. I had to reset via the circuit breaker. This will be my last Whirlpool appliance for a long while.

I dont know how this ever made it past the thought process stage to become a thing but it needs to go away. Im quite cranky right now as Ive just spent two hours scrubbing my oven while reaching past the oven door that doesnt come off because its a self-clean oven. This is what I have to look forward to for the next 10 years until it dies and I can get a new oven? What a joke!!

The Cabrio model (WTW5640XWO) I purchased in March 2011 died within days of installation. I was given instructions to modify the hose placement which resulted in a flooded basement and ruined carpet. Problems continued during the first year; several service calls. The problem was always the same; it did not drain/spin leaving a mess of soggy wet clothes. It died a final death - the same problem a few months after the 1-year warranty expired. The repair people have been out four times since. The last time, a $70 repair lasted less than 3 weeks for a bad shifter - always the same problem. Whirlpool will do nothing except offer to send a repair team out for a flat fee of an additional $120 with no guarantee they would fix the problem or replace the lemon. This week this Cabrio will be heading to the landfill. Ive had enough. No more Whirlpool products for me ever.

I too expected a whole lot more for the price I paid for Whirlpool WTW5000DW1 HE washer top load. Fuzz, grass, pet hair and food remain after washing. Had a repairman out to look at it. There is nothing wrong with it. He says they do not use much water to save money. Well, if I a have to wash everything at least twice am I saving money? Think. Will look into an old fashioned washboard next time. Frankly I think it is a scam. The HE Tide is more concentrated and my clothes do not come clean! Tried to get my money back from the company that sold it to me and I was told only if I were to buy the $900 Speed Queen. Someone’s making a lot of money from consumers who need washing machines.

Cabrio top load HE washer - Ive only had the washer a couple of years. My husband bought it for me thinking it would make washing more time efficient and energy saving. Lesson learned! After struggling with this washer for the past year, I was told today that to repair it, it would cost around $800 or I would need to buy another washer. The washers bearings and tub need to be replaced and it will not spin properly or at all. Previously, I have owned washers for over 10 years each. This was definitely not a good purchase. After reading all of the other complaints on this site, I understand that I am not alone. It was also mentioned on one complaint of the possibility of a fire hazard with this washer. Whirlpool should be recalling.

Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum washing machine: You wont believe this until you call a parts replacement place for tiny part. The plastic (or vinyl) lid hinge bearings are located at hinge corners of lid. Hinge pin passes through them, one on each side. Half the size of a penny, UNCONSCIONABLE greed at the price of $32-$33 dollars EACH when ordered from a parts place. IMHO, design by INTENTIONAL failure to fail after three or four years. As a result, the lid will not stay up on its own. Then you find out the horrible news which is an insult to intelligence. Id have expected to pay maybe two or three dollars each, but NEVER the price they are demanding. Theyve got you and there is NOTHING you can do about it. At that rate, parts would run tens of thousands of dollars to replace the entire machine, part by part. These greedy clowns make car dealers look like reasonable people! The LAST Whirlpool machine of ANY kind we will EVER own!

We have had a GX5fhdxvy 07 Whirlpool Gold French door fridge with bottom freezer that is approximately 4 years old. Since the first 6 months of use, so 3.5 years now, we have had continual problems with a flat sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer which then builds up and leaks all over our floor. Twice I have slipped, once banged my big toe to the point of cracking my big toenail and bleeding profusely, and the second time I slipped on my butt and really hurt my back. This is of real concern as one of my children has Cerebral Palsy and autism and could really hurt himself in our kitchen. We originally called while it was still under warranty and the technician said that we will need to learn how to defrost the tube that seems to be getting built up with ice. Thats the only way to fix it. We thought it meant fix it for a long period of time. After several months of this re-occurring problem, we realized that this is something you need to do very frequently, meaning several times a week. We have had no help from Whirlpool, they tell us that essentially it is our problem. They didnt even offer to provide parts. They were not interested in our problems and just asked us if we wanted to pay for a service call, and that was it. Now but what kind of service is this?? Clearly, after researching these products, this is a design flaw and a lot of consumers have complained about the the same issues. You would think that Whirlpool would have the decency and the business smarts to create a recall to solve consumers issues.Unfortunately, I am not able to purchase a new unit. This was an expensive purchase as it was… and we have absolutely no resolution to the problem. I have to say that after our injuries in our household, eventually someone will slip and do some serious permanent damage to their body or even worse, fall and sustain a head injury and perhaps even die. And although this may seem like a far fetched comment, it really isnt out of the realm of possibility at all! How long does it take for a manufacturer to respond to a flaw in their design??

I bought this washer (Whirlpool Cabrio) about 4 years ago. A year or so later, it started leaking; based on reading the troubleshooting guide we found that this was because the feet would continually get out of balance. After painstakingly re-leveling the washer every 6 months or so the washer now consistently leaks - even though its balanced/level! $508 to repair a machine I paid $787 for. No thanks. I agree too with the other reports that it doesnt get clothes clean. I just figured this was a feature those of us got for trying to be energy efficient.

I purchased whirlpool Model# WFG540H0ES gas with convection. I purchased it because the price was $1000 dollars less than comparable ovens and even now the price has gone up $300 since I purchased it. I really wanted the luxe look at a discount price, a burner that you could lay a grill over, and five burners which it provided all of those things. I hesitated to buy this oven because the door fell off the last Whirlpool within three years and they refused to fix it so I tried not to buy this brand but it had the amenities I wanted for the price I could afford. I really like the oven. I like the oven the best because it really does make a great cake. I like the two large grates that sit across the oven. It makes it feel high end. If you dont wipe the range immediately grease gets stuck on the range and is hard to clean. This is what I like the least. Im ready to wipe on the weekend and its too late. It took me four days of internet comparison to decide on this one. The house is not painted, the cabinets are falling off the wall literally but I am extremely proud of this oven and it makes me feel affluent even though Im not.

GFG461LVT2 - In October of 2010 I purchased a Whirlpool Gold Fridge and Stove. Its been about 3.5 years and two of the caps that go on top of the range burners are chipped. All of the caps are badly stained and despite the manual instructions to wash them in mild soapy water, they do not come clean. They dont come clean using heavy duty Easy Off cleaner. In addition, the seal on the oven door has apparently failed because the glass is foggy on the inside. Today I phoned Whirlpool after going to their website. I first spoke to a parts representative who advised that I would have to pay $47.00 per cap or $115.00 for all five burner caps. I was transferred to another department as I thought I should get the appliance parts and door fixed for free. The appliance is only 3.5 years old. I was told that the appliance is only guaranteed for 1 year and I would have to pay dearly to remedy the two problems. This appliance is Whirlpools Gold series. It supposed to be top-of-the-line - the price tag was certainly top of the line. Im very disappointed in American workmanship and the companys lack of integrity. Not too long ago I purchased a Whirlpool (aka Maytag) front loading washer. I now own a Samsung. The point is that designed obsolescence will force consumers to purchase products made outside of the US because some of us cannot afford to buy or repair appliances, cars, etc., every couple of years.

The knob on the Gas Cook top stove from Whirlpool (Part no: W10594481) is very poorly designed. It is very flimsy and breaks easily inside. Outside it still looks intact, but if you examine it on the reverse side, where it actually fits into the cooktops metal rod to turn the gas up or down, we can see it breaks there, as it is made of very cheap plastic. Although it is supposed to be a Stainless steel knob, it is actually all plastic where it matters most. I bought the new cook top from Whirlpool in 2014 and within a year have replaced all the knobs as they were breaking once every couple of months. I am still having this problem after 2 years now. I have contacted Whirlpool and have asked for a solution to this problem. They dont have any, other than offering a new version of the knob which costs $10 more and it is not easily available anywhere. I purchased a new gas water heater and had it installed by a plumber. It worked for 3 weeks then we lost hot water. I called the 877 number and got shoveled around to 3 or 4 people. I got hung up on twice then spent 45 minutes repeating all the instructions that are on the tank to relight the pilot light. They agreed to send a new valve. The first time, I never received the valve (after 10 days) and had to call back. The second time I called in, I spent 20 minutes trying to get another valve sent. The valve I, finally, received had plumbers dope on the back and clearly was previously used. Had the original plumber replace the faulty valve? And lo and behold, the second valve didnt work either. I have no idea why a gas water heater would have any issues after 3 weeks. I bought it brand new from Lowe’s. It is obvious that Whirlpool makes shoddy products. They have very poor customer service and care little for the customers’ time either in correcting the problem or being without hot water. I have spent over 2 hours with Whirlpool. Only to 3 weeks after the initial call, I still do not have hot water from a heater that is less than 2 months old! I called them on the issue of the second valve not working and they put me on hold (after 10 minutes the line went dead and I was disconnected) despite the fact I asked them not to do that!

I just purchased this washer Whirlpool Cabrio. Im experiencing the worst with it because it seems to take forever for it to wash. I came to look at reviews to see if other people were having problems like me. My issue is when I put it on quick wash it seems to say 41min then to 56min then goes down again and up again. I feel like its using more water as many times I hear it filling and washing. I didnt see anyone complain on that part but for the price its a big headache and upsetting because I spent that much thinking you get what you pay but I rather have the old washer I had than this. If anyone has had this issue please let me know and was it an ongoing thing. Not sure if you can comment back to reviews but shame on them to see all these unhappy people and not trying to make things better for them. I wish I read reviews before getting it. My Whirlpool Gold, Model # G16FDRXxQ06, has failed four (4) separate times. In each case I lost thousands of dollars, mostly in high-quality frozen foods. A Sears repair service representative came and repaired the refrigerator. In less than a year, after each repair, I had to call again. Three of these failures resulted in the loss of my food because the refrigerator simply stopped running. Unfortunately, I had been away from home for more than a week. One failure was caused by water leaking. This was apparently caused by a frozen pipe under the refrigerator. The repairman said that this was a routine failure for this Whirlpool model. I would like to recover my financial loss from Whirlpool. Is there a process to claim my loss? Is there a better, more reliable refrigerator?

Purchased first water heater in 2008 with 6 year warranty. In 2011, pilot light would not stay lit. Whirlpool told me to go to Lowes and get a new one at no cost. But I had to pay for service to identify the problem and installation of new one, costing $250.00. A year and a half later on a six year warranty, the same issue the pilot light not staying lit. They send a pilot light assembly and we pay the shipping and installation cost of $130.00.Two years later, the same issue begins again. Calling tech support, they determine it needs a third pilot assembly at $30.00 for shipping and $265.00 service installation fee by a certified Whirlpool technician. Worked one day! Im so done with this company!!!! I was promised a call from a supervisor with Whirlpool which Im still waiting on days later. Probably for the best at this point. I think I would feel better if I could beat the crap out of a Whirlpool CEO with it! Im cutting my losses and going with a different provider. I will NEVER again purchase another Whirlpool product!

I am having problems with my Whirlpool Water Heater. The pilot light goes off often and now it wont stay lit at all. I checked the thermocouple and measured the voltage, it is 19+ mV. So according to the manual, the gas valve/thermostat must have gone bad. I called the company and they gave me a name of the contractor but asked me to pay for the labor cost. This is a 50 gallon, 12-year rated heater bought from Lows in 2008. The heaters model number is BFG1J5040T3NOV. This thing has some serious quality issues.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer model WTW6400SW2, serial CU2372784 type 480: I have had this set for about 4 years now. First, I had to replace the motherboard. And now today, I found out that the center post seal was leaking and caused a lot of damage. I was told that it would cost around $300 plus to get it fixed. I have seen on sites that this washer is a lot of trouble and the makers need to fix these problems. Also, the washer sounds like a jet running. We need the makers of Cabrio to step up and fix these problems or refund us the money that we have paid out for this thing. We, the people who have bought these machines, need a lawyer and to start filing lawsuits against these people.

This washer started out to be good. Its only 5 yrs old. We began to smell an odor. Went to Lowes, spoke with someone in appliance dept. Purchased something for washer. DID NOT WORK. We have tried bleach everything. Our clothes smell. I have skin rashes and I think it is related to mold and mildew. Called the service center. They said could be a sock stuck around the tub area. They need to recall this washer. We spent a lot of money and it has ruined everything. Cannot get the odor out. We cannot afford another one. There is black mold around the rubber lining when you open up the door.

We bought a new Whirlpool dishwasher with a kitchen reno. It cost over $1000. One month out of warranty the pump died. As this is apparently a common thing with these dishwashers the company sent a new pump, free of charge, but we still had to pay $150 for the install. Now, less than 2 years after purchase, the dishwasher refuses to drain. I wrote to the company, they are not interested. Dont buy Whirlpool, you are only throwing money away.

When you first get the washer it looks like it can get the job done. Its the brand name and you trust to get the best clean from the washer. After a couple of months I dont see them clean. It washes with a couple of shakes back and forth and when my clothes are ready they seem like they were dipped in water. Not clean. It has all these fancy buttons for all different types of cycles and loads and they all seem to wash the same. As a mother of 3 kids I want my kids to put on CLEAN clothes. Not clothes that look like they have just been dipped in the water with detergent. I feel a good on cleaning board and my hands do a lot more than these high priced washers.

Within two years half of the racks rods completely rotted away. 3 years later the washer is busted - most likely pump which was probably blocked by one of the pieces of the rack rods. I am replacing it with Bosch - German engineering. Needless to say I will NEVER buy a Whirlpool - formerly reputable company again. Good-riddance Whirlpool.

Pathetic pathetic service!!! Unsatisfactory service!!! First of all, I would like to tell everyone who ever reads this, that please please please never ever use any Whirlpool products, as their service sucks, their response sucks too, and zero co-operation from their people, which will make you regret to have used their products in future. Please note I registered a complaint on the whirlpool no. **.The complaint was that the washing machine used by us had issues, the power button/ on & off button had come out, and this was clearly stated while registering the complaint. I get a call from Mr. ** (Representative of shree enterprises bibwewadi, pune) and the power button issue was well informed to him as well over the phone by me. He arrived to our place without any new material, he sees the machine and interchanges the buttons, i.e. the broken power button is replaced by other button from my machine which was less used compared to the power button. I had to pay a sum of rs. 400/- for the pathetic service I received from your end.I expect a response from your side within next 4 hours, or I might have to escalate this issue!!! (Please note Whirlpool team that I had submitted the same on your website yesterday, yet I have not received any response from your side). (Whirlpool rating- 0 out of 100). Thanks. (And whoever reads this, please tell me where else can I post this review of mine so that I shall alert everyone that how bad whirlpool service is)...

Kitchen Aid is Whirlpool - Buyer Beware. 1.5 year old dishwasher Model #KUDS35FXSS8 lost power, repairman came and confirmed it to be the panel control and the part is back ordered 4 weeks out. Expected to come day before Thanksgiving, repairman cannot schedule until part arrives thus no guarantee date of fix. Found part online from AppliancePartsPro.com. They shipped it one day later - fixed dishwasher. Whirlpool will not stand behind part because it did not come from them. I have all the proof that it is a Whirlpool Certified Part from a Appliance Parts Pro. Appears Whirlpool would rather have a broken machine in a home rather than help the customer fix it.

The damper switch at the top of my water heater, one I purchased at Lowes stopped working. I talked to someone at the local store, and I was told I had to contain the manufacturer. I called the number on the front of my unit. The tech talked my husband through the restart process...not once, but on two separate occasions. We were told that because it was intermittent, something they decided Over the Phone, they could do nothing. They would neither send a replacement part nor a technician. By the time we had to call back two days later, restart was impossible. JUST to get the part, a specialty piece, we now have to pay for expedited shipping! And either install ourselves, or wait 5 days After Arrival (!!), to get the stupid thing fixed! If they had sent the part out originally when we asked, we wouldnt have to wait for hot water or pay anything for a warrantied piece! Its a racket. Stay away!!!

We purchased this dishwasher (Gold Dishwasher WDF60SADB) because of its low 49-decibel rating. It goes over 60 decibels regularly and occasionally up to 70 during operation (not including drain noises which cannot be controlled by the dishwasher). We used a tablet app to confirm. Decibels are not linear, they are exponential. 70 decibels is what your average shower or dishwasher sounds like. 50 is about as quiet as a refrigerator. You have to talk over this dishwasher. And yes there was a big price difference between it and Whirlpools next loudest rated washer.Whirlpools customer service says they will not replace or repair based on sound ever, only for functional failure. Bottom line, dont pay any attention to Whirlpool sound ratings. They dont stand by them and do not consider gross overages a defect. Fortunately the retailer (Lowes) does stand by what they sell and will trade for any other machine by any other manufacturer. We have only good things to say about Lowes in this process. This machine arrived Wednesday, and we pick a replacement Sunday. It will not be a Whirlpool. I will never buy a Whirlpool anything again. We said it will do X but we dont care if a brand new one wont is no way to do business.

I bought a Whirlpool washing machine from Home Depot 4 years ago. It immediately started to grow mold in the seal even though I wiped it clean after usage. I called a certified technician to replace the seal. As he was removing one screw on the lock the Washing machine shorted out essentially destroying the panel and rendering the machine broken. I called Whirlpool and told them that the machine was defective otherwise, why would it do that? My technician has worked on hundreds of machines and this is the first time this has happened. The two managers I talked to refused to help me because I didnt have an extended warranty. It is true that I dont have an extended warranty but also, I had faith that Whirlpool had sold me a good product. There is no other explanation for the washing machine to do that other than it was defective. I asked the managers to send me replacement parts, but they refused to do that. The last machine I had was a Maytag that lasted 20 years and when I gave it away, it was still working. I expected no less from the Whirlpool I purchased at Home Depot.

We bought our Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine and dryer in October 2010 and it was the worst purchase we have ever made. We had two worthless calls to Whirlpool and all the regular brain-dead suggestions that do not improve function. We have had a technician out to our home and we have the extended warranty. The technician stated that the machine will never function properly and Whirlpool knows this. The low water level prevents washing, rinsing. The problems with the washing machine are many and the required multiple washes and rinses make the claim for low energy usage false advertising. It leaves white streaks on dark clothes constantly and has residue on everything from sheets to silks, no matter the cycle. Theres not enough water which covers the clothes, so clothes do not get clean. The spin cycle is so violent that clothes are damaged. The soak cycle is a joke. Soaking means to sit in water and soak. This machine drains the water so there is no soaking. With this very expensive machine, we can use only one cycle; bulky items on the low spin with a repeat rinse. According to the technician, these complaints are what they respond to all day, everyday. There is no mechanical fix for this design flawed machine. If you are looking at buying this machine, dont! The machine has ruined lots of laundry. Do not waste your money or your time. I would like my money back. The Whirlpool company definitely plays dumb on the customer service calls. Its a non-functional washer as it damages laundry and has false claim for low energy usage.

My agitator-free washer began tearing small holes in my clothing and sheets
My agitator-free washer began tearing small holes in my clothing and sheets about one year after purchase. I contacted Whirlpool and they sent out a service person, who ran a diagnostic test on the washer and said it was fine and I should learn how to wash clothes and load the washer, etc. The barrel of this washer has little holes and I believe that when it spins the clothing, some pieces may stick in one of those holes causing tearing. The service person also told me that my clothes were old. I guess that means this washer is not for washing old clothing. The tears in my clothing are in places that are very unlikely to tear, like the back of my jeans behind the calf of a leg, about half way up from the ankle. There are holes in my tee shirts at the bottom of the back. Even if I were a smoker, which I am not, I would not likely burn holes in those areas. Whirlpool obviously does not want to accept responsibility for this problem, even though there are many other people having the same problem with this type of washer.

My induction cooktop totally failed to work two months after installation. Whirlpool sent a repairman who told us it was the main board. He also said he was unable to locate any of that part anywhere in his computer. We called Whirlpool via our store, Ikea. They apologized, asked for 48 hours to locate a part, then said they would replace the cooktop if they were unable to find out. Almost 48 hours later, they hadnt located it and denied any replacement option. The parts cost is over $800. The cooktop cost just over $900. Whirlpool reps would only read from a script of legal warranty jargon. Then they said they needed 5 to 7 days. We had a baby visiting - we needed our stove. To me, an apology would be replacing that unit if the part wasnt available, not a verbal statement. Fortunately, we had the phone # of a local Ikea manager who told us to bring the cooktop to the store as they had them in stock. They replaced it with a new one. Over the years of my long life, I have bought many Whirlpool products. Never again. I need a washer and dryer, and will not be purchasing any associated with the Whirlpool Corporation. Thanks to Ikea, though, for standing by their customers.

I had my old agitating washer for 8 yrs that went out. I liked Whirlpool so decide to try their washer. Found the Cabrio washer (SWS5000WO) and thought without the agitator it would give me more room for clothes to wash better. Boy was I wrong, no matter what cycle or what size load it is off balance on the very first spin. I have to stay near by to stop the washer before the first spin adjust the load and start over again. Jeans and towels are impossible to clean. It throws the tub so bad it has pushed the side out. I have checked the balancing rods and they are fine. The icemakers Whirlpool has been using for the last couple of years are a PITB. They have diamond shaped ice cubes which are great but, whenever the filter nears the end of its life, the icemaker fill tube freezes up. Occasional freezes up just because. Changing the filter, although the old one supposedly has some life left, may/may not solve the problem. In June of 2010, I purchased a new Whirlpool Estate EED4400WQ0 dryer (serial number M01156261) with an accompanying washing machine. It has been in a clean, climate-controlled environment and gently used by my family of four for just short of two years. Last week, I began to notice that the clothes coming out of the dryer were cool and damp and it quickly became apparent that the dryer was only heating intermittently. This morning, the service person from the dealer who sold me the washer and dryer set (and a Whirlpool dishwasher a few months later) told me that contacts on the timer unit were bad and that the entire switch would have to be replaced. This is no small portion of the machine and the part alone will cost me about $150. After labor, we are looking at an expense of approximately half of the original cost of the machine - in less than two years. I called the Whirlpool’s customer service line to ask if there was anything that could be done and the answer was: Sorry, we cant do anything for you.” It is not acceptable to me for an appliance to become that expensive that fast. If Whirlpool cant do anything for me about this, then I will not be purchasing anymore Whirlpool products.

I absolutely HATE this washer! These pics are of jeans AFTER they came out of washer. Its energy efficient for sure...doesnt use enough water to fully wet the jeans. And, yes, I know how to choose the correct settings. See how wrinkled the jeans are? That is what all clothes look like after being washed in this washer. Dryer isnt any better. It does dry them, but they are so wrinkled they look like they were just pulled out of dirty clothes hamper. I was a Whirlpool fan up until this set. I realized before my 30 days were up that they werent cleaning my clothes well. I went back to Lowes & set up a date & time for them to be picked up. Purchased a self-cleaning Whirlpool oven - model number RBS245PRS06 at Home Depot. Spent extra for the self-cleaning feature. The oven had slight use and used maybe once a week. Cooked a big Thanksgiving meal and decided it was time to use the self-clean feature for the first time. One hour into the process the oven shuts off, no longer has power, and the oven door is locked and will not open. Called Whirlpool (talked to 2 levels of customer service), they wanted me to buy a $200+ warranty for another year of coverage!Researched online and talked to the parts people and this is a KNOWN defect. It happens frequently when using the self-clean feature. It requires replacing the Thermal Overload Safety Thermostat which costs $45 with shipping for the part. The service call is over $100 PLUS labor which can run even more. There are YouTube videos that show how to replace this fuse. The parts lady recommended NOT using the self-cleaning for this oven. Buyer beware. If you are in the market for a new oven do not consider this Whirlpool model. THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE AND WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT ONCE YOUR 12 MONTHS IS UP.

The oven never turned on again. Cost me hundreds. I have been afraid to use the self-clean feature ever since. The second time was in May and is no longer under warranty? Again it cost me hundreds!! Now I am supposed to be happy with 15% off another one of your products? Why would I have any faith in any of your products? I have since found out that Whirlpool has had so many problems with this model - they have quit making it. 0 stars. The refrigerator coil keeps freezing. There seems to be no defrosting, there is no element to do this so it freezes every 5-6 months. No warranty. I bought it as is but seems to me a function it should have isn’t working. They should fix them. Ill guess it’s just business, hope theyre ok with St. Peter’s showing them the way down to hell while he’s saying it was just business.

When we bought our side by side fridge (model GD5RVAXVB02), the manual said to clean the condenser coils if you have excess dust and/or pet hair. We have both. We tried with the vacuum and with a brush but it is impossible to get to the coils because they run side to side instead of front to back. You can only get to the first coil in front. The rest cant be accessed from the front, sides or back. I called to find out how Whirlpool recommended they be cleaned and they could only recommend a vacuum attachment tool (8171579A) to clean the floor below the coils or a coil brush (4210463RW) that cant reach the coils! This design is meant to fail prematurely. They could have easily installed the coils running front to back so they could all be easily cleaned.

Whirlpool gas range model WDF560SAFT bisque color, purchased in June 2020 from Home Depot online. After a 3.5 month wait range was delivered September 12, 2020 and installed. Have used the oven less than 5 times. Standing in my kitchen yesterday and heard a pinging noise, noticed chips of the finish all over my floor, it was chipping inside the top of the oven door, overnight the exterior top of the door was also chipping, bits of finish flying all over my kitchen! Have been on hold with Home a depot Cust. Serv. for almost 60 min. Will attempt to return to a Home Depot. Not sure what to do short of complaining about lousy Whirlpool product. Next time will come to Consumer Affairs and research.

We purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator on January 18th. It has never worked since it was delivered. A service call was place the next day. It is now 2 and half months and 6 technician visits later and the fridge is still not working. Whirlpool customer service has been contacted and they want to continue sending technicians out rather than replace the fridge. The customer service manager, Demetrius, stated the additional service calls are not costing Whirlpool more money because the repair company has 90 days to fix the problem so they are not going to replace the fridge. While this may be fine for Whirlpool it is certainly not good customer service. We were told they cant call the service company to get the details of prior visits and that we need to call the service company as there is nothing Whirlpool customer service can do but schedule technician visits. After a lot of aggravation, losing hundreds of dollars of food and hours on the phone here we are without a working fridge. Buyer beware!

All I ever wanted was a nice refrigerator with the ability to get crushed ice from the door. We bought our refrigerator from Lowes several years ago and have had problems with the ice dispenser ever since. Lowes sent repairmen many times and even replaced the one we purchased with a newer model. Whirlpool refused to replace. The problem persisted and we had to continue calling repairmen. The last straw was when the repairman asked to borrow my hair dryer to help him melt the ice that continuously builds up in the door chute. I stopped going through Lowes and went directly to whirlpool for repairs. Since then I have been told that I should remove the ice box and clean out weekly, be nicer in order to get better help and that my husband should do the talking so that Whirlpool will be more helpful. I am so disappointed. Its been a couple of years since I last called for repairs even though we had the extended warranty. I have to clean the chute daily in order to get crushed ice from the door. Whirlpool knows that their engineers developed an ice dispenser with problems but will not admit it. Their customer service is the worst ever. I will never buy a whirlpool refrigerator again.

We got a french door Whirlpool refrigerator about 15 months ago. Model Wrf757sdem01. There were problems from day one. Serviced about 6 times by 3 different companies... Died again less than 2 weeks ago. Finally the store decided to replace it. Was under an extended warranty. We have been without a fridge for over 10 days. It has caused multiple problems for us as we are out in the country. We have to haul ice to 4 coolers... Wait on the new one (a Whirlpool). Plumber had to be called in and he has had 3 of this same model replaced! Years ago you could trust Whirlpool. Now apparently not. I hope we do not have to regret our replacement one which still is not installed! By the way the water filters have to be replaced to the tune of 100.00 a year. We are not going to use an icemaker or get water from the new one.

After getting a suite of Whirlpool appliances from Home Depot, I found that they were a little below standard to previous Whirlpool we’ve owned. I found the top of the Electric stove could be easily scratched and the refrigerator was noisy. The stainless steel seemed not as heavy as our other ones. The Whirlpool insignia on the refrigerator came lose and I needed to glue it back on. I’ve always had good luck with Whirlpool and we’ll see how this goes. Just to be safe we bought an extended warranty on the fridge.

Update Review on 10/15/2020: New refrigerator 12/31/19. 4/27/20 Fridge terribly noisy, called Whirlpool directed to local provider. 5/5/20 Fan replaced, drawer clip broken. 5/11/20 Drawer repaired. 5/21/20 Fridge not keeping up, repair company said new compressor needed. 7/6/20 After numerous calls and literally hours on hold with Whirlpool compressor install but still seemed noisy. 9/30/20 Fridge partially cooling, no ice and water dispenser not working. Repair company ordered new evaporator cover and UI panel.10/15/20 Neither the repair company or Whirlpool know when the parts will be delivered. Whirlpool has no record of their being a service call or parts ordered. I talked to one rude, unhelpful and uninformed service rep. After following their instructions and using their recommended warranty provider, they claim not to have the issues in their system and cant be used to determine the repair/replacement of their unit. He indicated, You need 3 major repairs in 30 days to get a replacement fridge. It took them 6 1/2 weeks to repair the compressor. How can it break that many times in 30 days with that bad of service. Nothing is repaired in 30 days. The current rep seems to care and have a working knowledge. She is sending a request to determine when a part might be delivered. She couldnt give any indication of when the part might be delivered to complete the repair. Days? Weeks? Or again Months? An hour and a half on the phone with very little progress. New refrigerator with 3 major repairs and one small one in 9 months. Terrible refrigerator and extremely poor service! Go with another brand.Original Review: Refrigerator new in January 2020. The first issue was an extremely loud fan.It was replaced. While being repaired, service tech broke a tab on the door. (It happens) Another call to replace the tab. During May I notice its not making ice and freezer isnt keeping up. Lose all items in freezer. Now the 4th call on new refrigerator, tech says needs a compressor and orders while at my house. Soon the refrigerator isnt keeping cool. Now 34 days later, still not fixed. Whirlpool service provider blames Whirlpool. Whirlpool says they are shipping compressors but cant exactly say mine is delivered. Apparently, 4 service calls in 5 months and over a month with a totally broken refrigerator is their bar for a good product and service. Neither their approved service provider or Whirlpool care in the least. Awful service. Try another brand!

Cabrio washing machine WTW8600YW0 - Had this washer for 3 years. Its been repaired a few times, but this last time theyve replaced the bearings 3 times and it only lasts less than 1 week. This $1000 washer is now going on the trash. I tried to get help from WP, to no avail. There is a reason these are only warranted 1 year. One thing I liked about it: the fast spin speed gets clothes drier. Every other aspect is crap. Cleans very poorly. You cant make it use enough water. The tub looks huge because it doesnt have a conventional agitator. But if you put much in there you will end up rewashing in small loads because then it REALLY cleans poorly. I bought this because my trusted appliance store owner buddy said he owned one. When I asked him lately he doesnt talk much except admits that yes they have had a LOT of trouble with these machines. The life is very short on them. The wonderful fast spin speed destroys the light bearings quickly. And it gets worse the more its worked on. Its a disposable $1000 piece of trash. Im an engineer, and whoever designed this should have his degree revoked. The type of agitator it has and the extreme low water is very hard on your clothes. One zipper left loose will shred your clothes. I wanted to love the thing, but I have to hate it because it is unrepairable. If you could control the water and if it lasted at least 5 years without having to rebuild it several times at greater cost than it was purchased for, I might be less than rabidly angry at WP. They know they are junk but dont care. You have few choices as they now own most brands, and they know this. I have a Speed Queen on order. Just a plain old simple washer.

I was so excited for this stove top and oven - Whirlpool Gold AccuBake (especially at the price we paid for it!). Weve owned it for 13 years now, and in that 13 years, we have had to have the computer replaced 6 times now. The latest replacement being last week (Friday). The oven is still making clicking noises like the igniter wants to start and it is frustrating and annoying. It will do this for a 3-hour stretch numerous times throughout the day and night. Had a repairman here last week and he replaced the computer AGAIN! But the igniter clicking noise continues.

We’ve had problems with our fridge where after we had it for about 2 months a crack formed on the inside, the repairman came and put a piece of tape, tape on a new fridge I wasn’t happy. Then we had our stove for about a month and the front right element went it was replaced but to this day it works when it wants to and I brought this to the repairmans attention when he came to replace an element in the oven and he didn’t even offer to take a look at it. We called Whirlpool on the 27th of December to get service on the oven and was told nobody could get here until the 2nd of January. This ruined New Years Eve Plans, New Years Day Plans and our turkey which should have taken a max 5 hours on Christmas Day took 11 hours putting our dinner off until 8:00 pm. We purchased the extended warranty ($700.00) to protect us from high bills for repair and this oven issue ended up costing us about $800.00 for meals out. I asked at the time of my call if there was some kind of rebate to cover our meals and the inconvenience over the holidays and they told me no, that’s pretty bad for such a huge company. Our dishwasher which is also Whirlpool hasn’t worked since day one, we had a repairman out and all he said was, run your hot water before you use it and use Cascade, it’s no longer under warranty and there’s pieces falling off and I have to wash my dishes before I put them through the dishwasher so what’s the use of having one. We purchased all Whirlpool because of the reputation but well never buy Whirlpool again or recommend them.

Please read if youre thinking about buying from Whirlpool - the Whirlpool front loading washing machine. Hmm, where do I start? Oh yeah, its a colossal piece of garbage. Four years ago my wife and I went shopping for a washer and dryer. We looked at quite a few and then we came across the Whirlpool front loading washer. Ah, the wave of the future. The end all solution to your washing needs. The best the market has to offer and at over $1,100, they should be. The salesman completely sold us on why we should spend a little extra for such a superior product. I thought, I work hard. I dont make a ton of money, but this sounds like a long term, worthwhile investment. Wrap it up, the washer and dryer combo. Fast forward 4 years later. Whats that awful clunking sound the washer is making? Oh, its the drum. Maybe its off center. I opened it up to find that the spider arm is broken. Isnt it only 4 years old? Surely they (Whirlpool) will fix this at no charge to the consumer because as I was told 4 years ago, this is the best technology. Now mind you, its just my wife and me. She doesnt have to do laundry for 50 people or even 4 for that matter. Calling Whirlpool (ring, ring, ring. Hello, this is Whirlpool), I explained to them what the problem is and that we have only had this magnificent piece of gold for 4 years. What can you do for me? Sorry sir, the machine is only warrantied for a year. Youll have to buy the $350 part to fix it. Reading between the lines, Youre screwed sucker. Thanks for the cash. Really, youre telling me that I spent almost $2,000 of my very hard earned money for a washer and dryer set, and after only 4 years of use you will not fix it? Allow me to paraphrase the reply in laymans terms. Nope, youre ** and thanks for the green. Here are my thoughts on Whirlpool. They are one of the worst companies out there for customer service. The front loading washing machine is a horrible product that should be pulled off the market and never be sold again. My experience with this company will never happen again because I will never ever buy another one of their products. So please, before you think about giving them your business by buying a front loading washing machine, think again. And remember this - I now have a $1,100 paperweight.

Purchased my Whirlpool Duet front load washer WFW9150WW00 new in 2010. Also purchased extended warranty. After four years, just before my extended warranty was up, the entire inside needed replacing (drums, bearings). Now at only five years old, it keeps making a beeping noise in middle of wash cycle and wont continue working. Serviceman was told by a Whirlpool tech. that it could be two things, one being the door jamb, the other being the control panel. Door jamb was fine. Ordered new control panel ($240), had it installed and yet the washing machine still keeps beeping and doing the same thing. The serviceman doesnt know what else it could be. So, I am forced to return the part and purchase a new washing machine. I would never recommend Whirlpool to anyone!

In October 2009, we purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio topload washing machine for almost $900, because my wifes sister had a 1-year-old one and had been pleased. The Cabrio replaced a 3 1/2-year-old Maytag that died with a seized-up transmission. Maytag is also a Whirlpool product for those of you who do not know. We had issues at first with it going off balance but dealt with it. It was also taking 40+ minutes to do even a small load of laundry, but again, we dealt with it. Fast forward about 3 years, and we notice the machine is making really loud sounds during the spin cycle. I checked for any obvious issues but found none. The noise kept getting louder with each use. Finally, I called a repairman to check it out. His diagnosis was quick. The bearings were going bad in the machine, and he said it would eventually fail. He quoted me a price of between $400-$500 to repair because the job is very labor-intensive. I declined the repair but still had to pay him a trip charge. Then I checked with my wifes sister about hers, and she said hers had been making a very loud sound for several months but they were just ignoring it. I told her about the diagnosis of mine and advised her to tilt the machine back to look under it. Sure enough, there were oil stains under her machine, just like mine, indicating the bearings were failing. So we have 2 Cabrio machines, one 3 years old and the other 4 years old with the exact same problem. I called Whirlpool since I had registered the machine when I purchased it. They basically told me to go fly a kite since I had not purchased the extended warranty. They said I could attempt to repair it myself to save money, but they advised to have their repairman do the work. Well, no kidding. What a joke. They expect you to buy a $900 machine and have to replace it every 3 years. I am done with Whirlpool products. FYI, Kenmore products are also made by Whirlpool, so Sears is not an option. My wifes sister and we bought new GE washing machines, and both of us purchased the extended warranty this time. For $129 (5 years), its cheap, peace of mind. Whirlpool is crap. I would suggest never buying any of their products. I know we never will. Once they have your money, they dont care.

In less than a year my gas range required a new knob because it froze in place. They covered that but not the 4 new knobs since. I must clarify, its not actually the knobs but the thing underneath that my husband has had to replace ever since to our expense and time. Also in less than a year the paint under the knobs totally fell off. We contacted them about that and the reply was paint wasnt covered under warranty. Obviously they used heat resistant paint on the range top because that is perfect condition even with the constant cleaning, but the angled front where the knobs are I had to sand and repaint, not a good look for the stove. They really couldnt have just used the heat resistant paint for 2 1/2 farther? Just horrible quality and worse service. I purchased a 50-Gallon Electric Water heater in 2006, sure it lasted and worked well for quite a few years; however, in August 2014 my power bill started to rise dramatically, I live in Arizona and $300-$400 power bills are the norm in the summer months; however, a $700.00 bill will immediately be noticed. I contacted the power company and they sent a tech over who performed a lengthy diagnostic and determined that my water heater was running constantly thus accounting for the great increase in power, I contacted Whirlpool and received 2 heating elements (no charge) which my pricey plumber replaced. The problem still remained and I contacted Whirlpool again and again trying to get this issue resolved. I paid less than $400.00 for the heater installed and since Ive been having the issue Ive almost paid another $400.00 in labor costs trying to get a resolution. Ive decided to get another system and my only reason for posting this is to inform all that the Whirlpool heaters seem to be very problematic, like others Ive had plumbers decline my business when I inform them that I have a Whirlpool tank with the Energy Smart module.

After the warranty ran out, every time in the spin cycle, it makes a sound similar to a piece of metal banging around inside the cylinder during the cycle. My new ACCU-BAKE oven was not baking properly. Always uneven results. Finally called for service, just in time before the warranty expired. The service rep informed me that I had not bought a convection oven. Well, duh! Of course, I knew that! He tested the temperature levels inside the oven and found a variance of 10 degrees Celsius, which he reported by phone to the company. He advised me to reach into the oven half-way through any baking process to turn my cake around, and it would bake evenly. I asked him if he had ever tried that himself. No, he said, he was not a baker. That was the end of the service call. No follow-up, no service. Today I learned that the company actually has this exchange in its records, but if I want to get the oven to work properly Ill have to pay for service, as the warranty has expired. I wonder what would happen if I ever tried the self-clean or Sabbath mode features on this oven.

I CANT use the icemaker or the water feature which I paid extra to have. What a piece of Junk. The people at Whirlpool will just say, Did you purchase a warranty? YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO HAVE IT FIX WHEN ITS ONLY 2 YRS OLD!!!!!! They are so greedy, they make junk so that you spend more money on repairs or extended warranties.
