I purchased my stove in June 2020. I had no idea it was to be connected to the internet, but no big deal. Had I known of all the other quirks I would have thought twice. 1: A red light comes on to tell you a burner is on but not which one. 2: A red light appears when a burner is hot but it doesnt show which one. 3: Only 3 burners out of 5 can be used for cooking the other 2 are warming and melting ONLY. 4: The stove updates its software whenever it feels like it and shuts off the oven and burners. 5: Periodically I have the oven on and it just turns itself off!6: The touch controls for the oven are in a bad spot because if you accidentally touch them when the oven is on the oven will shut off.Not sure if it has any serious problems just the inconveniences listed.

We purchased a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator from a local appliance store in December, 2018. We immediately noticed a loud humming noise coming from the refrigerator when the motor is running, which is a lot. We can hear it from our bedroom on the other side of the house. The store replaced the motor and the fan, but the constant irritating humming continues. The store called Whirlpool for advice, and were told that side by side refrigerators are louder. They also said that since it is working there is nothing they can do. We had a Kenmore side by side in the very same spot for over eight years. Never noticed when it was running. We will never buy another Whirlpool product again!

Steam cleaning DOES NOT work! I have complained to Home Depot and Whirlpool since my purchase 9/2018. They sent 2 different repair men and both times I was told there was nothing they can do. I got one phone call from Whirlpool (Maytag) and they sent me a cleaner (wish is just for the stovetop). No other return emails or calls have been acknowledged. My stove looks like it hasnt been cleaned EVER! I was also told to use elbow grease. I am so disgusted and at my wits end. Any suggestions, besides court?

The fridge had been leaking just a little for a while until the leak picked up and left a puddle. Turns out this plastic tube connector cracked. Seems a very poorly designed fit that caused the bend in the plastic to rupture. Now the whole tube and what I think is the water inlet valve will need to be replaced.

Cabrio washer - I have always had a Whirlpool appliances and have always been satisfied with them, but this is the worst washer ever manufactured. I bought it to wash heavy loads of jeans and it takes me all day to wash 1 load because it is always out of balance. No matter what setting I put it on I have to keep rearranging the load. Without putting up with that, the load takes 87 minutes on bulky wash. That is far too long and then you add all the time I spend rearranging it to get it to work. I think there should be a recall or at least admit you have a poor design. My son works for Whirlpool, but Im not sure I will be supporting this company again.

So disappointed with my Whirlpool purchase. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product in my life. This is my second whirlpool oven to die in a short period of time. My most recent oven only made it two years. For there to be an internal wiring issue that is now costing me $500 to repair on top of waiting 30 days for them to be able to fix the oven. This is a terrible product. Unfortunately, I didnt realize the poor quality and poor reviews prior to purchasing from this company. PLEASE be advised.

Bought in 2009 brand new set washer and dryer together at Best Buy. The washing machine in 2011 started its never ending problems. I’ve paid for parts & labor for the door lock sensor mechanism multiple times where I learned to repair that myself even buying parts and installing on my own last time... Then a drain pump went bad. Replaced that. Now a code f51 sensor to a motor rotor not spinning issue. Horrible. All the money and time in this unreliable machine is so awful. This thing also isn’t that great when it works too. Goes unlevel way too much having to redistribute and restart cycles all the time... Wish it washed better for the price and all the trouble. It is the worst machine. Has to be! Everyone I know can’t believe the fight I’ve had through the years with this machine. The company doesnt help you. Costly headache Junk machine!

The only way they would assist me is if I would pay the full cost of repair because it is 3 weeks out of warranty! There are no other suggestions. I would have met them half way with paying half the bill but I got nothing but Im sorry and we cant help. They dont stand behind their product.

I purchased a 29 cu ft Whirlpool French Door refrigerator (WRF990SLAM) Feb, of 2013 from Lowes and have had nothing but problems since I purchased it. First, I noticed that the fridge sounded louder than normal. Then a few months later, ice started building up in back of the fridge. Then the most craziest thing ever started happening, the water dispenser started randomly shooting out water. Lastly, the ice maker takes forever to make ice. Still to this day, Whirlpool has yet to fix the problem. Funny that the technician said that theyve received a lot of complaints regarding the same issue for this model...so, I say you should be able to fix it then or replace my fridge. I have a 2yr extended warranty which states if they cannot fix my fridge after 3 attempts then they have to replace it. They refuse to honor that. Whirlpool and Lowes are full of crap!!! Whirlpool doesnt care at all that their products are crappy and their service is bad. They sent me a survey asking how do I like my product and I informed them of my issues and they sent me a response to purchase an extended warranty. Now, if they really reviewed the surveys, they would see that I have an extended warranty for 2yrs but regardless of that what about the issues Im having with my fridge? Do you not see my comments? If you didnt care you shouldnt even bother asking. Lowes pretended to care and made me believe they were going to replace my fridge but then sided with Whirlpool and said that they have to make 3 unsuccessful attempts to fix the fridge but each attempt has to be 30 days apart. Thats a bunch of crap because its been 6 months and my fridge still has not been fixed or replaced!! I have a Samsung side by side that I bought a year before Whirlpool and never had a problem with it. I bought it from Home Depot also, along with a stove microwave and dishwasher. I will be sticking with Samsung and Home Depot from now on!

My Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5550xw0 has had many problems. It started with the lid lock error, replaced it, lasted about 2 weeks, and got another one. I did the diagnostic test that pointed me to the actuator, replaced it. It worked for 2 weeks, got another one, and then another one. I was getting a bad reading from the control panel, replaced it, and that worked for a while. I found out that the actuator had a little water drops on it. I figured that it must be the tub seal, so I replaced it. That lasted about a week and a half, and it started dripping again. Now, I figured it is that the transmission has bad bearings, that causes my tub seal to leak, that causes water drips to go onto my actuator, causing a failure in that, which can give me all kinds of bad readings on the diagnostic test. I have replaced at least half the cost of the original purchase price on a year and a half old washer. I also bought my son a Whirlpool Cabrio washer a few months before I bought mine, and he hasnt had a single problem.

I purchased a top load Whirlpool Washer and Dryer in April 2021. When it was installed I commented about how noisy it was. I was told it was because it was empty, but it will be much quieter once you put in a load of laundry. That did not make any difference. I called Whirlpool customer service and explained I had just purchased it less than a week ago and it appeared to be very noisy. I was told they could send someone out, but if they determined there was not a problem I would be charged a service call. I said the machine is not even a week old why would I be charged a service call shouldnt this be a warranty issue. Again I was told there would be a service call charge.I am completely baffled at the customer service response. This is the first and only time I called. I contacted the store where I purchased both the washer and dryer and was told it should not be that loud, this is the first time anyone has complained about the noise level and there should not be charge. Whirlpool has terrible customer service and I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool product again because of the customer service. I have purchased numerous appliances in my lifetime and have never been treated so poorly. If I could return both the washer and dryer I would not hesitate. I would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone.

When my wife and I were planning our retirement, we made a to-do list before we officially stopped working. We are loyal Whirlpool users and over the next 3 years we purchased 4 major Whirlpool appliances in preparation of having 8-12 years of problem-free time as we go from a two-income working family to two people on fixed incomes. I retired in December of 2011 and unfortunately this did not pan out on 2 of the 4 appliances. The washing machine, in late February 2012, blew a transmission 23 months after purchase and 11 months after the warranty expired. Discussions with Whirlpool by phone were unsuccessful in getting the repair covered.Ultimately, this repair cost us $265.00. In late April, 9 months after the warranty expired, the refrigerator iced up and had to be manually defrosted, despite being equipped with ADS. My family and I did the defrosting because it was a weekend and tech support was not available. On Monday, the refrigerator was functioning, so I was told to run it and see what happens and call the tech if it happens again. I had done research online and found many folks were having trouble with this refrigerator model and the main problem was the control board”, a board that is used in many Whirlpool refrigerators. I ordered one after the initial problem and waited for it to ice up again. On Sunday, May 20, it repeated the same symptoms displayed and I put the board in myself and it solved the problem. This computer board cost me $95.81.I contacted Whirlpool about the two premature, post-warranty expiration issues in hopes of getting some reimbursement for the repairs. The Whirlpool rep told me that because there had not been a recall on either appliance, they could not reimburse me. They instead offered me a 6-month extension on the dishwasher I bought last July. I have been on several complaint websites and have seen the refrigerator control board repeatedly mentioned - all within the approximate 2-year timeline as my control board failed. My refrigerator was a GB9FHDXWQ01 model, but the control board is used in many of their refrigerators. If this has happened to you, please contact me at ** and, hopefully, together we can get enough data to get a recall and get proper treatment from Whirlpool. Please include your refrigerator’s model number so I can verify the board is the one in question. Thanks.

My three month old Whirlpool electric range caught on fire last night. The wiring that connects to the electrical cord to the stove shorted and melted. Thank God we were up and smelled it and quickly pulled the stove out and unplugged it. Had the fire dept out this morning and they verified that it was the stove and not house wiring. Now, I am without a stove, out of my money and waiting on the mercy of Whirlpool to take care of this situation. I do not want this stove in my house so I wont accept repair. Not sure I want another Whirlpool either. If this had happened during our sleep time, the whole house could have burned down. So upset and inconvenienced.

Refrigerator is good, keeps food at a good temperature, freezer keeps even ice cream solid. Only fault is draw in freezer does not hold as much as the old bottom freezer with separate unit for a draw. The refrigerator is nice looking and does the job. It just seems that manufacturers are always trying to make things better, but usually features were fine in older models.

Whirlpool Gas Range model GW397LXUB1 is a lemon. We bought our house new in 2008, and it came with Whirlpool Gold package appliances. Within a year, the console buttons quit working for the oven, and we had our warranty fix the console. Within another year, it happened again, and then again last November and now again this week. This range is obviously defective, yet the only solution was to buy for $350, a one-year warranty from Whirlpool. I asked if they had any sort of redress or rebate if we bought another unit, which they reported no. So I looked online for other people who have had similar issues, and counted at least 75. So this company knows they sold defective units, but wont stand behind them without substantial cost. All this simply assures me is that Whirlpool is NOT a stand-up company, and I can assure you that Ill never purchase any product from them again.

I bought a complete kitchen set of the Whirlpool Gold Series Appliance from Brand-Smart in 2/2013. The first problem I had was the compressor on the refrigerator. It started making a noise & stopped cooling in 04/2014. I called Whirlpool and they said there was only a year warranty on parts and service. I was not notified that I could get an ext. warranty. Therefore I will have to pay for the repair. I called a service tech out and he said I needed a new compressor, total cost 255.00. Then in 11/2014 it started making the same noise & stopped cooling another $255.00. Now its doing the same thing. It needs another compressor, will cost me $255.00 more! A total of $765.00!! And I have only had the refrigerator 2 years 2/2015.

Bought at Lowes. Washer was horribly out of balance on first use. Called warranty # to get service. Was made appointment by Whirlpool for next day. Too good to be true I thought and I was right. A week later, repair company called to make their own appt, chuckled and said Whirlpool does NOT make appointments for them. They came out to see washer and at the time of appointment, the guy said sometimes they come from the factory not hooked up right inside and after he went back to a lady in the office, Jonnys Appl Repair, Bozeman, MT said they would not fix it because washer was not sitting on a concrete floor. They are idiots. Finally, washer completely broke 7 months later. There was no service that would honor ANY appointment Whirlpool made. Went through 6 repair companies trying to get a close appointment date. Hopefully next week will be the magic repair. GO WITH SEARS. I bought a Whirlpool water heater in 2009. I paid $588.46 at Lowes. Turns out it is in a class action lawsuit for faulty thermocouple. I was given a coupon from Whirlpool for 2 new thermocouples as part of the class action lawsuit. The thermocouple goes out on it every 1-3 months. You never know when youre going to have a cold shower getting ready for work in the morning. I literally could have bought a new water heater for what Ive spent on thermocouples the last few years. The last two times it went out, I had to replace it twice within 1 day. Im sick of replacing it and have decided to install a new hot water heater. We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher (Ser# F21102027MOD, Model# WDF730PAYB2) after reading some of the reports that it was just as good as a Bosch. Wrong! We bought this washer March 17. On May 17, the selector switch and sub control broke down. We had bought this item at the HH Gregg store here, and also purchased a 5-year warranty which they said we cannot use because the dishwasher is only 2 months old. Is there a lemon law? And what makes this worse is that we called Whirlpool on May 18th. They could not get anyone out here until May 25th to look at it. As of this time, they still could not fix it because the two parts had to be ordered. Today is June 1st and the part is still not in? Makes me think, does this part always go down because its on back order? So you are fully warned, do not purchase a Whirlpool. If I can get some extra money, I am throwing it out and buy a Bosch because I dont think it will ever be fixed.

When you purchase a Cabrio high efficiency washer dont expect clean clothes
When you purchase a Cabrio high efficiency washer dont expect clean clothes! But, you can expect holes, torn and, smelly clothes. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to wash. The machine I purchased has a glass top but its dark and you cant see into the machine so that was a waste of money! If you wash clothes in 1/4 depth of water, nothing gets clean. Who even designed this disaster? I had enough common sense to know it was going to be bad but the salesman at Lowes informed me that ALL washers were high-efficiency and getting a tub full of water days are over. I wish we wouldve just paid for repair and kept my old washer. I hate doing laundry with this machine! I use to be able to wash my blankets, pillows, curtains, throw rugs, even car mats with no problems. Not anymore! This machine couldnt handle it. You ought to see my sheets and shirts when theyre done. They come out twisted up so tight I have to untangle them before they go to dryer. What a horrible nightmare of a machine! If we were not out so much money Id send this machine to the junkyard and get a real washer with realistic amounts of water! How are you saving anything when clothes require 2 times to get somewhat clean??? If youre reading this and considering a high-efficiency washing machine, DONT DO IT!! You will regret it. Im counting the days when I can junk mine!

Purchased washer and dryer in 2013. After several months I noticed small holes in my clothing. I called for service since my machines were still under warranty. There was nothing the repair service could do except make suggestions on water amount and settings. Which I tried with no improvement. I also contacted Whirlpool and was told I could call for service for several weeks since it was still under warranty. I asked why call for service when I was told it could not be fixed. I did have it serviced again and told it was a problem with the design. Numerous items of clothing were ruined which I showed the technician. He gave me a phone number to contact Whirlpool. They in turn said there was nothing they could do for me. I usually place items in laundry bags for delicate fabrics but for obvious reasons not all items fit in a bag. I have never had such terrible service nor experienced an appliance that operates so poorly. I am surprised there are not more complaints with this problem. We purchased our Whirlpool Front Loading HE Washing Machine a year and ten months ago from Future Shop, and now it has failed. After paying about $100 for a service call, we were told we need to order a motor control board that will cost an additional $397 plus tax, plus installation. Because it is off warranty, this means my $1030 washing machine that is less than two years old will cost me about $680 to repair! My parents old top loading washing machine still works after 30 years. And now I notice that so many other people have had the exact same problem. Why hasnt Whirlpool fixed this issue? Our 4-year old Whirlpool microwave suddenly stopped heating. We thought that we forgot to push something so we tried again to start it. This time, it started to spark. We bought a new microwave oven and foolishly bought another over the range Whirlpool microwave. This was about 1 1/2 years ago. The second Whirlpool microwave oven stopped heating as well. F7 came up on the controls which meant that the magnetron failed in this second microwave as well. We called Whirlpool and they said they would only repair it if we paid for the repair which would have cost almost as much as a new microwave and maybe more if other parts were involved. Next, last year, 2012, the pump on our Whirlpool dishwasher broke and once again, it was too expensive to repair it. We had to buy another dishwasher so we bought a Maytag, not knowing that they were made by Whirlpool. I guess we will have to wait until that guarantee is up before that also breaks. Also, last year, our Whirlpool washer pump broke and that cost us a few hundred dollars to repair. From the complaints that I am reading from people about their Whirlpool appliances, it is seems that their products are made to last just until the warranties expire. We should start a class action against Whirlpool. On many sites, I have read numerous complaints about Whirlpool products, the majority about the magnetrons in their microwave ovens breaking during and shortly after guarantees run out. They should not be allowed to get away with this. BBB, Consumer Affairs, where are you? To the many of you who have been burned by Whirlpool, I hope you have contacted the BBB and Consumer Affairs and maybe even the Attorney Generals office in your home state.

I have a 3 1/2 year old 9400WFW WP washer with a 70 error code. After viewing complaints on various websites, it appears this is a large scale problem with Whirlpool Duet owners. I just got off the phone with WP customer service and explained how many complaints are out there for F70 code error, yet they do not have a recall on this part! How can this be justified? This is a non-mechanical part of the washing machine. The life expectancy should be more than 3 years. My washer is not overused as there are only 2 people in the household. I do not want to pay the cost to repair this. I think WP should issue a part recall on this model. Does anyone know how to find out how many replacement CCU or CPUs have been purchased in relation to the number of 9400 WFW sold or if there may be a chance that WP needs to reconsider a recall?

Since May 3, 2016, five servicemen have failed to repair my Whirlpool refrigerator (WRF560SEYM), which is less than 2 yrs old. One trainee from A&E Factory Service had the nerve to reinstall broken parts. I have been completely without refrigeration for the past 48 hrs only to learn that the repairman scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled because AIG warranty has not approved his visit. Further investigation reveals that the parts were never ordered, pending approval from AIG. Whirlpool cant help me because AIG has not declared the appliance unfixable. Hhgregg cannot help. I have spent countless hours on the phone on hold & wasted hundreds of dollars on spoiled food. Dont trust Whirlpool. Theyre not the company they once were. Their warranties arent worth the paper theyre printed on. Buyer beware!

Why are the Whirlpool appliances so badly made that they are not fit for normal use? Are they buying substandard parts? Do ConsumerAffairs advocate for more robust, long lasting products, particularly with current sustainability concerns for the world? Having to buy a new motherboard and burners, cups and knobs after a couple of years of normal, careful use, is unacceptable, surely? The motherboard, burners and fitting charge is almost half the cost of a new appliance (gas range). Is this acceptable?

Handle needs smarter design. I purchased model #WRT311FZDM00 in November of 2015, didnt install in my new home till December. I am a single senior female, so there is little wear on the fridge, unlike a family of several people and with kids. The door handle actually broke just behind the screws that hold it in place, the plastic part of it broke into a couple of pieces. The cost to replace this handle is approximately $80, which is ridiculous in my opinion. Please start making things of quality materials instead of cheap plastic, especially at a stress point of a part. Even I know better than that. All 4 of my major kitchen appliances are Whirlpool, as well as my washer/dryer. I thought I was buying quality products. Hopefully things will hold up better with the other ones.

We bought the Whirlpool duet washer & dryer in the winter 2011. The washer is absolutely awful. I have to keep it set on the Whitest White setting so every load gets a second rinse. In order for my clothes to smell CLEAN I use bleach in every load I can. With the loads I absolutely cant use bleach in, I have to be standing waiting to put the clothes in the dryer or I have to rewash the entire load because of the smell!! My towels are ruined from the bleach and my clothes are faded because of the multiple wash cycles. I have used the recommended Affresh numerous times and it does not help! Needless to say this washer was a total WASTE of money! We will be purchasing a new washer very soon! It will NOT be Whirlpool!!

Bought Whirlpool French door refrigerator. Unit was defective when delivered and I told them so. That was on 06/14/2013. Unit got progressively worse and finally has quit completely. At Whirlpools suggestion we bought a Whirlpool Repair Plan Plus One (another scam) for $300. Repairman came out and told us the refrigerator couldnt be fixed. Now Whirlpool suggests their only option is for us to buy a discounted model. This refrigerator went from bad to not working at all in less than a year and a half. Anyone that buys a Whirlpool appliance with knowledge of how they treat customers and back their products has to be a little crazy.

I bought a 40-gallon hot water heater in November 2007. First problem I had with it was in 2009 when the pilot wouldnt stay lit. They sent me a requisition number to take to Lowe’s to pick up the part (igniter) and gave me a service number to give to the plumber to fix it. Plumber actually told me these heaters were junk and this wasnt the last problem Id have. Last Sunday (January 2012)--here we go again. Pilot went out and wont stay lit. Whirlpool is telling me its because I have a draft. Yeppers, that must be it because after they had me (arthritic 53-year old) and my disabled husband performing circus acts trying to relight it, then it was the filter on the bottom, then it was a draft. Last time I tried to light, which really someone as blind and disabled as me shouldnt be doing anyway, I about blew up. I hate getting ** by big corps. I filed a complaint with state Attorney General. If that doesnt work, hell, I think Ill take both Whirlpool and Lowe’s to small claims court. What do I have to lose? $35? Their fancy-schmancy lawyers will probably charge them a couple grand for their efforts. Im sick and tired of getting the short end of the stick. Since when is a hot water tank supposed to last a mere 4 years? Oh, by the way, Whirlpool says it’s all on me now--well see about that. First of all, both of these chumps just lost a customer and I Facebooked by friends about this pleasant experience plus included a link to this page. Consequences are all mine, I guess. Its pretty swell bathing in a sink full of water that you heated on the stove. I dont have any money because Im too busy giving it all to big insurance and big pharma right now. What a country!

I am so frustrated with my Whirlpool Gold Wall oven with Accubake system. It has been on for 12 hours in clean mode. The door is locked. My home is full of smoke and even though I turned off the breaker so no power would go to it, it is still locked and hot two hours later. This is the second time this has happened. Not only is it a fire hazard, my walls are hot to the touch. It is frustrating. There is no override of the clean mode. BTW, I was baking when the inside light switched on and off and the door locked down. I was nowhere near it and it was the second batch I was baking so I did not touch the clean button. It did it itself.

This will be the last Whirlpool appliance I will buy. We purchased this Whirlpool refrigerator Model # ED5GVEXVD literally a few days over 2 years ago. It is a side-by-side refrigerator with shelves that are supposed to slide out, however, we have never used it in that capacity. The problem is that the plastic frames on every shelf, even the ones that do not slide out over the bins, have cracked in no less than 2 places on each shelf. We contacted Whirlpool over a month ago. The good news is that they responded quickly. The bad news is that they stated, It is unfortunate that you had problems with the shelves, but we are unable to do anything for you because it is out of warranty. If you would like to purchase replacement shelves, we could order them through their consumer parts department. This is such a crock. If it was one shelf, I could justify the possibility of it getting smacked or something overweight was placed on it, but every shelf? As I said, not a single shelf is crack free, including the ones that sit directly over the bins, which should have additional support from the bin construction.By the time I replace every shelf that is cracked, it will be equal to what I paid for this refrigerator 2 years ago, and it will net me maybe 2 more years of service. If I have to invest that kind of expense into it, the refrigerator will go to the recyclers and I will buy from another manufacturer, which will definitely not be a Whirlpool or Whirlpool subsidiary. The cracks were noticed early last month. The cracks are already getting larger. I will no longer allow my children to get anything out of the refrigerator since Im afraid that the shelf will crack, the glass in the shelf frame will break and we will have an injured child, which instead of reaching this website, I will be contacting a lawyer. I need to do something with this refrigerator, but with the economy, I cant afford to just keep replacing a $1,000 refrigerator every 2 years. This refrigerator does not get extreme use since it is the 2nd refrigerator in the house. The primary fridge has been in our house since 2005 and I wouldnt trade it for anything. This Whirlpool refrigerator, however, is poorly made. The materials that the refrigerator shelves are made from were just a poor engineering decision because it is not holding up to mild to moderate use without cracking. We purchased this Whirlpool appliance thinking we were getting a quality product from previous reviews we had read, however, this is obviously no longer the case with this company and seeing the complaints that I now see online. Someone would have to give me really compelling evidence to make me decide to ever purchase another Whirlpool appliance again.

I purchased my Whirlpool refrigerator in March of 2011 and the ice dispenser failed in early April of 2012. I called Whirlpool and asked for a repair, but they refused, saying the refrigerator was out of warranty. Being a handy person and upset about the failure after only just over a year, I took the dispenser apart and found that a plastic part had broken and caused the ice door to become unhinged. I called Whirlpool back and explained what had happened, but they refused to help again. They transferred me to the parts department where I was told that the part that was broken was not available and the only thing I could do was replace the entire door! Not only is their product poorly designed, but it is also not easily repaired. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.

I purchased this machine in April 2011. Adequate performance until this past fall. It did not drain properly and began to smell, then stopped working. I called a local certified repairman who discovered an item of clothing trapped beneath the basket blocking the drain pump. $109.00. Less than 2 months later it happened again. The repairman returned and again found a blocked drive shaft under the basket. $109.00. When it happened a third time I called the Whirlpool repair line. A serviceman was sent out and immediately knew what the problem was (prior experience). He removed the basket and once again there was an article of clothing under the basket, blocking the drain pump - $129.00. At this moment it is beginning to smell again. I spent 40 minutes on the phone this morning with Sears and Whirlpool. No help whatsoever. This machine is not even 3 years old. I never overload it and clean it regularly. I bought the washer and dryer as a set because they are quite visible in my home. I have had Whirlpool products for over 40 years and never had a problem. I need someone to stand behind this machine.

WTW8800YWO Whirlpool Cabrio washer, 4 yrs old! Replaced!!! Its a poor quality washer -- the bearings go out. I purchased this washer and matching dryer at Lowes following a house fire. I initially thought the water saver was a good feature. Unfortunately, my clothes were not clean and were covered with lint following each wash. I have had to replace the ring inside the washer due to shifting and causing water damage to the new flooring. I soon became disappointed with my purchase, but until the noise became so loud in the spin cycle and the repair exceeded the initial costs, I kept the washer. I am another consumer who would NEVER purchase nor recommend a Whirlpool W/D. The repairman said, If you want a washer built to last, buy a Speed Queen!

My 4-year old water heater has upper/lower sensor issues for the fourth time this year. The rep was supposed to send replacement parts to arrive today (day four with no hot water), but the wrong ones were shipped. A different rep called and offered to exchange the unit for a new one. The expense to me will be $350-$450 for the plumber to uninstall my unit, take it to Lowes and bring the new one back to install. The plumber suggested I take my $450 and just buy a new non-Whirlpool unit. He knew immediately that I had a Whirlpool hot water heater because its the most common repaired vendor. Whirlpool should be covering this expense for re-installation of their inferior product. Poor customer service. Day 4 with no hot water during the holidays with no solution in sight short of me purchasing a new hot water heater. Whirlpool finally got the right parts to me and I paid a plumber $190 to install. One week to the day later, my pilot light will not stay lit. No change in ventilation since it has been installed. I will say I have been dealing with their rep Chris on the phone who is extremely nice and I feel sorry for him. But we all have the exact same issue which is not being resolved.

Whirlpool N50T91-403 purchased in Mar 12 had an error code 4. I knew the water heater had a safety installed in it when I was working on the plumbing and allowed it to drain the hot water side down to 16% of capacitance of 50 GL. After the plumbing issue was resolved, I saw the water heater had shut off (thermal protection) but the switch wasnt tripped as far as I could tell. Knowing small processors can only remember anything if they have power, I removed the Honeywell circuit board and with my multimeter probed all of the capacitors contacting them both (-) and (+) and in reverse order. Doing this forces the IC to forget its codes because they require a small amount of voltage to remember them, usually powered by a small capacitor. I reinstalled it and voila! Presto! It works again.

A Whirlpool hot water heater in an apartment I own would not stay lit. A plumber came to service and told me I needed a part from Whirlpool and that no one in town carried them. I called Whirlpool and after providing all information about the unit, she informed me that she would not send me the part because the serial number was not registered in my name. I explained to her that I purchased the building and did not install the water heater that a prior owner had installed it. All I wanted was a repair part. The Whirlpool rep refused to sell me a part unless I could provide a bill of sale where I purchased the tank. The part cost $41 which I was more than happy to pay for regardless of any warranty coverage. I have an obligation to provide services to my tenants. This Whirlpool washing machine is incredibly annoying and slow in everything it does. First off when you press the START button it takes 2-3 minutes before it decides to do anything, like maybe add water (except click, click and more click). If you have pressed the start button and you want to stop it to add something... again you have to wait almost 2-3 minutes before the lock is released and you can open the door. I am at 2 hrs and 15 minutes as I write this on the LIGHT WASH cycle with extra rinse and its still going. I have never seen anything like it. Cant imagine how long a HEAVY CYCLE takes. Cannot even try to measure the time. I put the load in and go to work and hope its complete when Im done 8 hrs later. We had a Maytag for 15 years with no issues (other than a drain hose cracked and had to be replaced) and it was time for a new one with a move to a new place. The sales associate convinced us this was the best machine at the time... Well what a mistake that was. There are no complaints about the actual washing. Everything comes out clean but I suppose taking that long I cant imagine why it wouldnt. I certainly cant recommend a Whirlpool washer to a friend, because I dread the thought of doing laundry at this point.

When our sheets were washed in bulky/sheet cycle and deep water this happened. Maytag sent out repair person to find the water pump went bad, pump was replaced. After repair same bad washing results as stated previously. Maytag then sent out repair person for the second time. This time the main electrical board was replaced. Still after two repairs wash loads are still coming out dirty, soapy, dry in spots in any of the selected wash cycles large or small. I had a Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01. Purchase 3/13/2010. I had repairman after repairman come to fix it. The last one probably saved my family and my house. The light in the back corner was not only blinking, but flashing rapidly, much like some wild party light. It eventually stopped. The freezer works perfectly fine, the fridge works when it wants to. The ice maker makes ice some days but not others. The motor on the ice dispenser is completely frozen up. Does that all sound about right? If it does, clean it out and cut the power to it before someone gets electrocuted or your house catches fire.If you cant find the electrical diagram, or the company wants $455 to answer your questions, look under the right side of the freezer draw, but not on the draw. Remove the guard on the very bottom of the unit, near the wheels on the right side. You will feel a plastic bag attached to the underside. Inside that bag is the complete diagram of all the wiring harnesses along with the schematic for the amps and voltages for each wire. Are they telling your circuit board is bad and you will need a new one? Before you do that, inside the fridge compartment, in between the water filter and the ice maker, remove the light cover. Notice that inside that space is the access to another panel. Remove that panel. BE SURE THERE IS NO POWER RUNNING TO THE UNIT FIRST. Here you will find a connection plug with more or less 15 wires that are connected to the main wiring harness. Above that plug you will find a holding chamber. This holding chamber contains water from the filter that is waiting to go to the ice maker. It has dripped condensation on the plug since the day you first turned on your fridge. Your wires are most likely broken and corroded. You will need to have your unit completely rewired, but because of the design flaw that fix will only buy you another 4-5 years. My Whirlpool GI7FVCXWY01 left yesterday 5/15/2014 and none too soon.

The exterior look of the refrigerator (WRX735SDBM00) is impressive and the stainless steel does not show finger prints easily. It has two french doors on top, a middle drawer, and the freezer drawer on the bottom. The interior is 25 cf, but there isnt much space, even with reconfiguring the shelves, and the crisper/meat drawers are so small, that a large bell pepper wont fit. When one French door is closed it pops open the other door, which then does not close back tightly. Although there is an alarm system to warn a door is open, it only works if the doors are open and not just cracked. We have to constantly push on both doors to be sure they are closed tightly, even after washing down the gasket to get a better seal.

ECO friendly top load Whirlpool washing machine - I bought this machine September 2013. Now it has a continuous clicking sound. It appears to be the lid locking mechanism and the washing machine will not turn on. It is under warranty and I am finding it hard to get a repair service in my area that is directed to Whirlpool to come and fix it. The only appliance repair in our area states that they will charge for trip and service if they find that is not a defect within the Whirlpool perimeters. I could be charged up to $200 for trip and service which is half of what I paid for. Whirlpool states this is not the case, and I am now having to wait a week to even set up yet another appointment. I have other machines that lasted 7-10 years until they wore out. I am frustrated and what could be a simple fix has turned into a financial nightmare.

I purchased a Whirlpool French door refrigerator (model #WRF736SDAW12) with the bottom freezer last year. From the day it was delivered, its been broken. It was pouring so much water from the top panel, it would run over the top shelf and fill the shelves below. This was not a small drip. From the beginning, I was calling and requesting a new refrigerator this one was obviously defective. Whirlpool insisted on sending repairmen over and over and over again. I kept calling. I did not want this refrigerator. What if they finally fix the water problem and down the road, it has an electrical problem because of the amount of water it was internally leaking? Well, guess what? Not even twelve months in, theres an ELECTRICAL FIRE in the refrigerator! Thank goodness it was contained within a metal box within the fridge. It otherwise could have burned my house down. The refrigerator has finally been deemed irreparable. So for almost $300, Whirlpool will send a new refrigerator. Am I crazy? Theyre going to charge me more money? Its for depreciation, they said. Ive used the refrigerator for a year. I said it was broken when it was delivered. I requested a new one then. Theyre the ones who kept replacing parts. Now Im supposed to pay more money for a product that I paid full price for? I was told I have 14 days to accept their offer. WORST, customer experience, EVER! Thats what their customer service line is called – customer experience line. Sheesh!

May 16 - July 25, 2014. Took almost nine weeks to get the replacement. Numerous service calls. Their tech said self-clean feature should never be used. In addition, I heard that the techs are only paid for one service call, no matter how many times they come. And, they cant fix this oven. It has to be replaced. Nightmare and very dangerous. Most American families cannot wait nine weeks for a new oven to be fixed/replaced.

Our home is only 8 years old. Our neighbors and double ovens have all gone out! I mean it just quit working and the parts and repairs are crazy expensive! We have already spent $400 on a control board and now we need a control panel which is another $300! Its ridiculous spending $700 on repair of an oven that should have lasted a lot longer! Another thing is that our ovens are white and now the panels only come in black! I will never ever buy Whirlpool appliances again and I am spreading the word to everyone I know!

I have had a Whirlpool hot water tank now for about 7 years and all I have had out of it is trouble. It wasnt even a year old and I was putting a thermocouple in it a few months later I put another one in it. All I do is put thermocouples in it. I have saved the old ones. This heater is a piece of junk and I am the one whos paying the price for it. I just put a thermocouple in it on January 9, 2012 and I am putting another one in it on January 15, 2012. I have replaced all parts and it still does it. They are going to buy me a new one someday. I’m tired of this. This should not be happening. They are ripping people off. If the pilot light does not light, you have to replace the thermocouple in it.

In October 2009, I purchased a Whirlpool Energy smart gas water heater with flame lock safety system.$509.00 I had it installed on 5/4/2009 by Westmoreland Affordable Plumbing, $218.00. On 10/15 called Whirlpool stating that the upper thermistor was coding as a failure. They sent me another one to replace it on 10/19/2009. On 10/19/2009, 1 and 1/2 hours later, the tank was coding a bad gas valve, called back and told Whirlpool what had happened and that I smelled gas. I shut off the gas to the water heater and waited for a valve replacement to arrive. On 10/21/2009 I had E.H. Plumbing to install the new gas valve to the water heater, $150.00. On 10/28/2009 the new gas valve went bad. I contacted Whirlpool and argued with them until I had them replace the hot water tank. With their approval I went to Lowes and tried to get the same water tank but they no longer sold that model anymore. I was given their equivalent to the one I had purchased earlier. I had it installed on 10/29/2009, $150.00. I now see a class action suit was filed against Whirlpool for the model in 2008. They were still selling this model after the lawsuit???? I spent $1027.00 for a $509 hot water tank and a lot a days without any hot water. I have all my receipts and returned codes for this transaction. Is it possible to get my $300.00 back (for two extra installations) as a result of this problem? I also kept the old gas valve thermostat.

This product is just DISAPPOINTING. The gas knobs got stuck TWICE IN 13 months only! The range is NEW! The first time 3 out of the 4 knobs broke, this time only one. It would not turn off, so we are forced to climb on the counter and turn the gas off every time we are finished cooking and turn it on again. The company wont be able to send us anybody till next week, which will force us to go on like this for NINE days plus, of course, the time it will take to order the parts needed. There is not even a back up emergency service, which should be in place since we are dealing with GAS! I have heard complaints about this product in this area: in my opinion the range should be recalled. Of course, the representatives one talks to are all trained to keep calm and reply the usual things: Oh, I am sorry etc. but the bottom line is that neither the product nor the customer service are good (the first customer service person was not very friendly either). I highly recommend that you AVOID this range if you are considering buying a gas one with double oven.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine F1 code - We have had this washing machine
Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine F1 code - We have had this washing machine for over 6 years now, and ever since our 3 year warranty time was up, the washing machine will only stop, and display the F1 code as soon as the wash cycle has completed, with 23 minutes left. To start off, with this problem, it is causing me more water, and electricity that should not have to be wasted if the machine worked properly. I called the place where I got the machine, and was told to give Whirlpool a call. I did this, and was told that there was nothing that could be done, and if I would like to schedule an appointment for a tech to come out and work on it, they could do that. YES, I would have to pay for it. Needless to say, the washer has been doing this for over 6 years, and if there is a way to get it fixed WITHOUT having to pay for the repairs, that would be wonderful.

It clicks for a few minutes then tries to sense whats in the machine then starts clicking again. Clothes come out of machine half wet. Queen sheets are dry in the middle. Water NEVER even touch the middle of the machine drum. All around nightmare with this machine. Would not buy another whirlpool because the customer service that I was given was terrible.

In November 2012 we purchased a Whirlpool Gold Series refrigerator, model WRF990SLAM from Lowes. This model has the ice maker in the door. We also purchased an extended warranty. In July of 2013, we contacted Lowes service because the refrigerator had ice inside it, top left, where the ice maker equipment is located. Also, under the ice bin, there was a solid block of ice. Water was dripping onto our food inside the refrigerator. August 6, a 3rd party repair company came and replaced parts. One week later, the same issue was happening. We called for service again. It took until 9/9 for them to come out again, and replace the same parts. Approximately 2 weeks later, SAME problem. This time, I called Whirlpool directly. I was told that they (Whirlpool) are aware of the problem with this model, and they should have new parts in by the end of the month that will fix that problem. They even have a special team for this! I asked for their direct number (866-461-2287). On 10/7 I phoned again asking for a status update. I was told that they were just waiting for approval to call consumers to set appointments, and I should hear from them by the end of the week. I also informed them that I was no longer able to use the ice maker or water dispenser because it was now leaking substantially into the refrigerator. They made a note of it. As of today, 10/13, I have not had a call back. This refrigerator cost us nearly 2500.00 and has a known defect! Tomorrow, Monday 10/14, I will begin to demand a new refrigerator (different model!) via Lowes AND Whirlpool. Too bad Whirlpool. Were now going to buy a new gas range...and I can guarantee you it will NOT be a Whirlpool!

I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer on 11/07/10. I brought it home, hooked it up, turned it on and water came pouring out the bottom. I should have known better then, but I took it back and got another one, same model. I dont even have it 2 years and its locked up. I had a repairman here and was told it needed a new water pump ($200 plus). There are 3 adults in my home so its not like I use it hard. I am really disgusted. This is the 3rd washer I bought from Whirlpool in less than 10 years. I went on the Whirlpool site and voiced my disappointment and my problems with their washers. I was told they take pride in their products and I should have a nice day. Yeah, right, they dont have to drag clothes up and down the stairs and then to a laundromat when theyre in their 50s with a bad knee and back. Yes, I will have a nice day when I get that piece of junk out of my house. I will never buy anything made by Whirlpool again.

I have bought two Whirlpool water heaters and with each one have had the same problem: the pilot light will not stay on. I have to continually turn the pilot light on each day. I have replaced the entire flame/pilot/thermal couple assembly several times. Each time I use the unit, it works for about 2 weeks, then Im back to turning on the pilot light every day. We bought a Whirlpool freezer-bottom 18.5 cu ft. fridge from Lowes. The compressor broke in less than three months of regular use. I called Whirlpool who sent A&E to check it out. The technician didnt even file a report and lied to me about what was wrong with the fridge. They sent a different company to come look at it and they confirmed that the compressor is broken. I called Whirlpool customer service and was told that the warranty only covers repairs not replacement even though I paid over $1,000 for a defective product. The excuse: Its a man-made product so we cant guarantee it! So what used to be a 3-5 year warranty not too long ago is now what? A one-year warranty is virtually useless. I can see a future not too far off where there is no warranty at all. Where is the protection for the buyer? If I wanted to purchase a second-hand fridge, I would have. I will never buy Whirlpool again.

Worst appliance of any kind that I have ever used. Has only on/off button, in effect. Wastes water. There is no option to change anything once cycle has begun. No soaking. Occasionally, the machine simply decides to stop and drain itself so that you can start all over again!! No idea how long cycle is. Nearly done? No idea. No matter what temp or how much detergent or how much water, the clothes are not clean. The lid locks and so there is no way to know whats going on. I suspect there is very little water during rinse cycle. All of the whirlpool appliances are similarly horrible. Washer is the WORST. Shame on you Made in America.

I Bought the Whirlpool Duet Steam Mod#: WFW95HEDC0 in 2015. I have always wondered how a machine can get clothes clean with less water but liked the idea of the energy star and saving water. However, I found that I was right and the clothes do not get very clean. They do not even get all wet hence the dry feeling when they are done. I just recently got a little frustrated at having to rewash some things by hand afterwards. I started to pretreat and wash out stains by hand beforehand. That helped some. I finally stopped the machine after all the water was done filling it and it tumbled a bit. It looked like it was wet from the window but when I dug through the clothes I pulled out a t-shirt that was almost bone dry. Some of the other thicker clothes like jeans etc. had a lot of dry spots too. This is why the odors don’t come out and why spots and lines are left where the dry meets the wet. There just isn’t enough water get all the material wet. I then proceeded to pour a pail of water in to get all the clothes wet. When I started it back up, it drained some of the water and I still had the problem. So now I get all the clothes wet in the sink before I put them in the washer. It’s amazing how clean they got and they didn’t have the body odors either. I think this machine would be fine if it could be reprogrammed to add more water for cycles. I know that would change the “Energy Star” but this water saving idea is bogus if we have to rewash and add more water to the cycles. At this point I will be looking for a new machine that doesn’t have the energy star but allows me to adjust the water myself. I do not trust these machines anymore.

My not yet 3yr old ($2100.00) Whirlpool refrigerator started having problems. I thought it was related to the ice maker. When the repairman came out, he said it had leaked the Freon, so I thought it should have been a simple fix. Boy was I wrong. It turns out it has a sealed system so no one can access this to fix it. It is now junk and I have to buy a new one. I will never purchase Whirlpool anything ever again and I will also tell anyone who will listen about my experience. Bought a Whirlpool Gold model GI6SARXXF04 less than two years ago and have already had three problems. The first was a faulty main water inlet hose that dumped water all over the kitchen floor. It was still under warranty so I didnt have to pay for it. Now have two additional problems. About two months ago there was a puddle of water under the refrigerator every few days. I finally figured out it was ice build up in the bottom freezer chest that melted that caused the water leak. The second issue is that the ice maker just stopped working. It had been working great this whole time and then suddenly it just stopped making ice. I contacted Whirlpool and they will cover the repair for the defrost issue but not for the ice maker. Gee, thanks, way to backup your product. Im guessing the reason they dont backup the ice maker is that its probably the more expensive repair. Like many people here I also will never buy another Whirlpool product again, regardless of what it is. Theyve shown me that not only do they produce inferior products, they also arent interested in customer satisfaction.

I have the 4.3 cu. ft. washer. This washer worked OK, but the lid lock does fail after about one year if the washer is in an environment where moisture may be present.I noticed the lid lock not working all the time about two months before the warranty expired. If this happens, call the warranty department immediately. After checking the ground wire and resetting the washer power over and over again, the lid lock finally stopped working completely. Here is how to fix it:There are two screws on the back of the top portion of the washer. Unscrew them from the silver straps. The washer lid will now push forward and up and off. Prop it up with a stick.Unscrew the two screws on the lid lock and start taking it apart (after reading this entire review). Be careful not to lose any parts and be sure to know where everything goes for re-assembly. Take pictures if necessary. Take the lid lock completely apart including any small pieces. The plastic slide needs to be cleaned. It has a spring that may fall when you pull it apart. The metal contact points inside the lid lock mechanism need to be cleaned. Be extremely careful when pulling the red cover off of the housing assembly. Pull the four metal contact points completely out of the plastic assembly. Be real careful with the black plastic slide piece, the metal rocker switch and the switch actuating motor. Use a small file and rubbing alcohol to clean off any green or white corrosion. Make sure to check all contact points.Re-assemble and you will immediately notice the lock switch working better. Re-install onto the machine. Re-install the upper portion of the washer. Start your laundry. Repeat after one year or when the lid lock becomes faulty again. These points should have been made out of a less corrosive material. Poor craftsmanship. Would not recommend.

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5600XW - Bought the washer/dryer set on May 13, 2011. The dryer has not given me any trouble. The washer on the other hand has been awful! From the very beginning, I noticed the washer was not getting my familys clothes clean! If one of my children had gotten anything at all on their clothes, I would have to wash about 5 items of clothing to even have a chance to get it clean! Doing this did not always work! I usually send my really dirty clothes to my mother for her to wash in her old style washing machine with an actual agitator! They always came out clean when she washed them! Also, please do not attempt to wash comforters, sheets or any bedding in this washing machine. It does not clean them! When you take them out, they smell worse than when you washed them and have wet and dry spots all over! Oh, and they are still dirty! It is now May 8, 2013 and my washing machine does not wash or agitate anymore! I called Whirlpool and they can only offer 2 options. A repairman for Whirlpool in my area will come out for $129 to diagnose what is wrong. This price does not include parts or labor! My other option is a flat $300 where this will pay for everything along with a 1 year extended warranty. So with the $300 option, this will put me paying about $1,000 for my washing machine! This is ridiculous. My washing machine is only 2 years old. I should not have to be repairing already! Do not buy this washing machine. If you do, definitely purchase the extended warranty and be ready to use it!

Beware to those who are in the market for a new washing machine. I am reviewing the product not the retailer. The lack of the agitator on the machine has left the consumer very agitated! I have called Whirlpool in the first year at least three times for them to come look at it and see the pictures of the clothes. It rips but the response basically is, “It cant be helped maam.” Here is what it does: When you do a load of shirts the sleeves tangle so much your clothes rip You can do approximately 3- towels or it won’t spin correctly. A load takes forever! Now I have been doing laundry for over 40 years so I know how to do a load and I have never been so disappointed in a product I could not return, why you ask because they say there is nothing wrong with the machine. Dont do it! So Whirlpool get a 0 star rating from me but I have to give it one for this review to move forward.
