Whirlpool Refrigerador Modelo WRF535SWHB
Our long and tortuous experience began in 2013 and continues to this day. But Ill just give the headlines. In August 2013 we bought Whirlpool BTM French Door KFIS20XVMS11 from Lowes. Three years later we learned that model number appeared on the attached recall notice which had been issued just days before our unit was delivered in September. Neither Lowes nor Whirlpool notified us of this recall which described a simple repair to a part that was leaking so slowly that its effects took three years to show up in a destroyed floor and cabinet enclosure that will cost $2981 (and still rising) to repair. We called AIG, the company behind the extended warranty provider, and they responded promptly by dispatching a Whirlpool factory authorized service technician who attempted unsuccessfully to drag the unit from its alcove over the warped, erupted floor beneath. With the refrigerator half-way out of its enclosure, the technician stopped and asked us to sign a waiver of liability. When we refused, he announced that the problem was water damage and he jammed the unit back into place, leaving dents in both doors and the freezer drawer below. We went to Lowes, who strung us along for several months before sending an engineer whose report concluded that the problem was a manufacturers defect (The Lowes engineer and his associate damaged the unit further when they forced it back into place over a floor made more uneven when they removed the pieces of rotted oak shown in the accompanying photo.). Based upon the engineers report, which Lowes said it had no duty to share, we were given a 1-800 number for Whirlpool customer service, with assurance that we would be taken care of. Although we had to start from cold without the engineers report, Whirlpool customer service was initially very accommodating and gave us hope. For a moment, I thought we were going to get resolution. They assigned a case number and we supplied the requested documentation. That was on a Friday in March, 2017.Monday we were surprised to receive a sternly worded notice from the Whirlpool Law Department that a clerk there would be taking over our case. We realized that we were far from resolution. Why did the Law Department intervene? We dont know. We guess it may be because they want to avoid a class action lawsuit on behalf of possibly thousands of leaky refrigerator owners (Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air and Amana units were all among the affected). In any case, since January we have been monkey-in-the middle among Whirlpools various departments, Lowes various departments and AIG, with no progress. What do we want? We just want things back the way they were before our leaky refrigerator did its damage and before Lowes and Whirlpool demolished our good as new looking KitchenAid refrigerator in the process of telling us they wont fix it.Footnote: We purchased all new KitchenAid Architect series appliances in August/September 2013, including top of line cooktop, dishwasher, convection microwave, convection oven and a French door cabinet depth refrigerator. Every unit except the cooktop has required warranty service, including five expensive electronic parts replacements. Fortunately we bought extended warranty service from KitchenAid/AIG, who have been terrific to deal with on the parts replacements. I dont recommend Whirlpool appliances but if you are intent on buying them, I do highly recommend extended warranties. As for the value of Whirlpools manufacturers warranty, watch this space. Ill be back with the final resolution.
I bought two Whirlpool (Model: bfg1j4o4t3nov4o) natural gas water heaters. The pilot light would go out to so I re-lit it and sit in the attic until the water got hot and the burner go out. But before the burner went out, I could see the flame go from blue to yellow and hear the water dripping down on the burner. So, after the burner goes out, the water would drip down on the pilot light putting it out. They sent me a thermo coupling for free but that was never the problem. The problem is that the water heaters are poorly insulated which causes the water to drip down on the pilot, putting it out. To make a long story short, no part they send will fix these heaters. I have a GE heater in my house for 20 plus years and it is still kicking. I should have went back with that same heater. For some good news, I got my money back from Lowes. I raised so much hell in that store that the manger gave me my money back just to get me out of his store. I made them realize that all we want is our hard-earned money back from a product that does not work.
I bought washing machine in March 2012. Since the date of purchase, the machine is not working properly. Even though it is under warranty period, I have to spend money on my own to repair it. Whirlpool customer care never responds. When I ask to give the number of higher authorities, customer care denies to do that.
I purchased a gas hot water heater from Whirlpool. I have had problems with it since it was new. Whirlpool kept sending repair parts, which I installed, until the warranty expired. Now they say “Sorry Charlie, the warranty has expired.” The water heater has never been fixed. They just dragged it along until the warranty expired. Whirlpool has no complaint department or the repair place will not give it to you. They told me there would be no use for a complaint department. They would just tell the same thing the repair was telling me.
I purchased a Whirlpool cabrio mod. wtw5840bwo washing machine in Oct. of 2014. As of June 2015 I am ready to kick it to the curb. The washer works to it design and hasnt broke down but it doesnt clean our clothes. We load the machine, add the right amount of clothes and recommended detergents and 1hr later after the wash cycle is completed, the clothes still stink with the smell of daily perspiration. I went back to using our old washer that has a worn out agitator. It does a better job.
Purchased a gas hot water heater from Lowes in October 2015. Installed the hot water tank and two months later started smelling a faint gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box. Called Whirlpool and they thought it was the gas valve and replaced part, but had to pay $30 for overnight shipping. Had plumber install new part and did not fix the issue. Called plumber back out and he found a small pin hole size leak behind pilot light. Patched the leak and still had a gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box. Called Whirlpool back and after some back and forth was able to get hot water tank replaced, since it was only two months old and should not need any maintenance that soon. Replaced water heater with new tank and this tank has a gas smell coming from around the Honeywell box as well. We replaced all our lines and even had the fire department check out our gas lines. Could not find anything. I am still baffled as to why this tank has a gas smell coming from the Honeywell box. I cant seem to find anyone else having this issue. Whirlpool or Lowes has not been any help. Ready to unhook it and buy another brand. Anyone have this issue?
The front of our Whirlpool washing machine started to rust in one place at the bottom within six years. Now it has broken out in three of four places on the front. We are very dissatisfied with machine and will never buy one again.
Whirlpool Gold Freestanding Accu bake Duo FIRE HAZZARD - We bought our house August 2013 and we were SO happy to see the stainless steel appliances and we thought Whirlpool was a good brand that our grandparents stood behind for years (they obviously havent bought from them in 50+ years... times must have changed for the worse). Anyway, I got all moved in and was fixing supper and noticed how REALLY dark and greasy the oven was. I could barely see inside because the coating of grime was so thick that it dimmed the light by being so thick over the glass bulb cover. I immediately thought Wow... the past homeowners were nasty and lazy because they have this nice self-cleaning oven and dont even bother to clean it. I noticed it smelled slightly like it had a gas leak somewhere when it was preheating but it cooked the supper okay that night.Because it was hotter than a jungle in NC in the summer heat of August, I decided to wait until winter to use the self-clean... thought it would warm the house as it got rid of the gunk, right? I kept using the dark coated oven about a total of 25 times and always noticed the faint gas smell at first when it would preheat. I thought maybe it was SO dirty that the oven seal wasnt working right and since it was now November, I figured I should just run the self clean cycle and maybe it would make it run properly as it was REALLY dirty and the igniter or something may actually be clogged. I figured it would probably stink a little at first when it started the cleaning cycle because of the excess build up but it needed cleaning so bad that I cleaned it... The smoke alarms started to go off, we just disconnected them for peace and quiet... Our throats and eyes were burning and it smelled more like plastic burning... FOR HOURS it was horrible! The walls and the Terracotta tile floor were flaming hot!!! The next morning the house actually smelled like it had caught on fire and it stayed that way for weeks! The oven was very clean inside after the cleaning BUT the oven is now totally useless! It will not stay lit. I have never been able to use it again as it will not come up to temperature... just clicks over and over and hisses trying to light. I tried again today and it started LOUDLY hissing like a big open gas pipe was on in there and I got scared and cut it off. THANK GOD it went off!I have been reading similar complaints about Whirlpool Gold ovens for a couple hours now and I am truly scared to use this oven now. After reading the comments of the hundreds of dollars it will take to get it to bake again and how most people STILL had the same reoccurring issues and NO help from Whirlpool... Well I decided to share my experience in hopes that if anyone else is reading this... and I am sorry to say... Well... you are not imagining the problem either. We never read these blogs like this BEFORE we buy or use our appliances, only AFTER something scares the crap out of you and you look for a recall. If I could afford to sue Whirlpool for a replacement then I would. I wish everyone could afford to sue Whirlpool for their unresolved issues that have cost them unnecessary expenses due to the customer loyalty we have had for Whirlpool as we used to be taught You get what you pay for and Do not go with an off brand because those companies go out of business when you need them to repair or service stuff. Am I the only one that was taught this? Times are very hard now and the economy is getting worse and now we have to be screwed by big companies like Whirlpool getting rich off of hardworking people and they do not care enough o help pay for the poor workmanship issues they are making. Shame on you, Whirlpool. I am taking the rest of the day to read reviews on a replacement stove so I can get this ticking time-bomb out of my new home. I too have read enough about the same oven that others have had worse memories than I did. I will not waste anymore of our hard-earned money on Whirlpool ovens. You have to decide what is good for you....
Since my review I have been corresponding with Whirlpool Customer Service (Chris). First he sent me an email and mailed a replacement board to have us (the homeowner) install. Because the cover was so melted, the replacement board would not fit down into it. I emailed pictures to Chris. Once he saw the pictures, he called me and arranged for the water heater to be replaced since it was still under warranty. He even extended the authorization code so we would have plenty of time to arrange for a plumber to do the work. We had to pay for the plumber, but Whirlpool arranged for us to have a new water heater. Now I can sleep at night without worrying that my house would burn down if the old water heater caught fire. Chris was GREAT to work with. I had a direct number to him and called any time I had a question. I was very impressed with Whirlpools Customer Service.
We purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine on 3-18-16. In February of 2017 the washer died. I was bleaching my whites at the time so most of the clothes, whites fell apart because they sat in bleach and water for 2 days. I had to figure out how to get them out without getting bleach and water all over my clothes. I called whirlpool and they got someone to come fix it. The tech came and said we needed a new control panel. We waited 3 weeks for the panel. He came on 3-24-17. He put the part in. Took less than 10 min and said, All set. I went downstairs and put a few things in. I was a bit leery and the machine started. I went back upstairs and I hear beeping. I go back down and the machine is flashing again. I called the repair people they said, Unplug it for 10 min. It may reset itself. If it doesnt, call back. It didnt. I called back and wanted me to wait till the following week. I told her I had clothes in there.Someone came the next morning and said it needed a harness and they would order it. Well its the 28th and I havent heard anything. I have called whirlpool several times with no satisfaction. We had the machine less than a year and its been dead for 2 months. I am disabled. I have multiple sclerosis so every day is a new issue. I hate to put that in here but I want you to know what Im dealing with along with a dead washer. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
We bought a new Whirlpool dishwasher with a kitchen reno. It cost over $1000. One month out of warranty the pump died. As this is apparently a common thing with these dishwashers the company sent a new pump, free of charge, but we still had to pay $150 for the install. Now, less than 2 years after purchase, the dishwasher refuses to drain. I wrote to the company, they are not interested. Dont buy Whirlpool, you are only throwing money away.
The lid stopped locking just over one year after I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio top load washer, which disabled the washer from washing. After investigating, it seems the electronic control board needs to be replaced, which will cost $400 just for the part. I have a large family, including a disabled child, and a washing machine is mandatory necessity that I cant afford to replace after only one year.
Purchased a new Whirlpool water heater from Lowes. Two days into the reset switch kept tripping, Whirlpool wanted me to wait for someone to repair it. Lowes exchanged it for me. When I called Whirlpool service myself, Jessie was in technical support could have careless about my business and was dismissive about any issues or concerns I was having. This will be my last Whirlpool product ever.
Our son-in-law bought us this Range. Before it was even a few months old the oven handle melted off, we called Whirlpool they sent a repairman to fix it. Now it is three years old, the same exact problem with the broiler handle. There should be a recall on this part, why in the world would a manufacturer use plastic for handles to begin with. Yes I can replace the part myself for $37.57 plus all other added fees but its not right nor fair when its a faulty part to begin with. My one and only new stove is actually a pain.
Whirlpool model WRF560SMYB04 - We purchased this model Whirlpool in Dec 2015 after having a refrigerator for 18 years with no problems. We started having cooling issues in late 2017 and finally an intolerable fan noise in April 2018. Researched it and purchased a fan. Opened up the freezer panel and found that the unit was completely frosted up to the point where ice had formed around the freezer fan and was hitting the blades. Contacted a repairman who came out and called in the issue to the Whirlpool tech line. He was told that he should check continuity on a couple of wires. If these checked out, the problem was the user interface board at the top of the refrigerator. We purchased a new board for about $100 and installed same. No change. I was now $250 into repairs and no further. We became aware of Whirlpool Service Pointer W10875533A which described conditions that we were experiencing. The issue was a coil thermistor that would corrode (apparently within 2 years) and would not provide accurate signals. Whirlpool also issued an instruction sheet W10902213 Rev A describing how to relocate the thermistor and protect it with foil and tape. My repairman came out, confirmed the thermistor ($54) was bad, replaced same following the Instruction Sheet. We were now out over $300 on a $1000 refrigerator purchased 2 years earlier.Whirlpool issued the Service Pointer (not to consumers, but to repair shops) in Sept 2016 (within our warranty period). We received no notifications from Whirlpool of the defective design. Nor did we receive a recall notice. Moreover, Whirlpool tech group must have known about this issue, but instructed my repairman to replace the interface board. Whirlpool knows they have a defective product out there but are doing nothing to inform the consumer or stepping up to correct the problem. We have contacted Whirlpool to recover our expenses...will let you all know how that goes. Anybody interested in pursuing a class action?
The heater was bought in March of this yr, 2013! Already, it quit working! Error message... we got the replacement part after much hassle! It was replaced and still doesnt work! Its going on day 11! I am furious! The unit needs to be replaced and I get, Well, you have to pay for labor, etc. You have got to be kidding me! It has been in my house for 3 months! I will call the media, our local guy who investigates, if this is not replaced asap! I already know I will never buy anything Whirlpool and will tell everyone on my media not to either!
I purchased a Whirlpool Microwave GMH6185XVQ1 on 7/2010 for kitchen remodel. It needed a magnetron repair just after one year warranty ran out. I called Whirlpool and they agreed to repair. Whirlpool sent me an offer for an extended contract. I purchased it. Since microwave was out of warranty at time of contract purchase, I was told there would be a 60-day waiting period. Microwave broke again on 3/2012. I waited until extended contract was in effect. I was told since microwave broke before contract was valid, I would have to pay out of pocket to repair, then contract would be valid after that. It appears (per internet research) these microwaves have bad magnetrons that need frequent repair. I wrote to BBB to complain.
Fridge was purchased in Feb 2012 from one of the home improvement store chains - along with an extended warranty. It worked flawlessly for about two years, at which point it began draining into the freezer compartment and eventually onto the floor (up to a quart or more at a time). Initially this was a rarer occurrence, happening once every few weeks - but has recently become more and more commonplace. The extended warranty purchased with the appliance covered direct repairs, but am told it will not cover the associated damage to the hardwoods. The local technician contracted for repairs was familiar with the root cause and was able to diagnose immediately upon viewing the brand and style of fridge. As was explained, the drain systems are of extremely poor design leading to icing and blockage of the drain itself during defrost cycles. The only fix at that point is to essentially turn the refrigerator completely off (remove power) and manually defrost the entire thing. The repairs were conducted same day as this review, and as such I am unable to say whether or not the fix is a lasting one.As a note, Ive not experienced any other mechanical or electrical failures or shortcomings with this model. It cools effectively and properly and has not had any history of trouble with making ice - as some other reviewers have experienced. The door containing the ice dispenser (left side) however, does not stay open, swinging shut from full open in a little over 4 seconds. Im still awaiting a complete estimate on the floor, but an initial value on damages is in excess of $1,000. Given current knowledge and the opportunity to choose again, I would select another manufacturer.
I recently just purchased a new home with an upgrade provided by the builder (which I paid), kitchen appliances to Whirlpool Gold package. 2 weeks from the time the house closed escrow, I used my Whirlpool Gold Accu Bake wall oven self-clean feature. I set it for 2 1/2 hours, which is not even a full cycle of 4 hours. I noticed after 2 hours that the oven shut down. The oven exhaust was hot and the panel control as well, (almost burned my hand). No power and door locked. After a week of waiting to cool down hoping it will unlock and turn back on, it didnt. I called the builder and Whirlpool. Of course, the builder said to call Whirlpool. They registered my oven and set an appointment. The contractor (A&E) came to take a look at my oven and assumed that it was just thermal fuse. He was explaining that the oven does heat up and shut down. Probably after this repair, this will happen again. He replaced the thermal fuse and tried to turn on the oven. The house electric breaker is working, but the oven still did not turn on. So this time, he checked the control board and said that it is dead and will have to order. I am tired of having an oven for 2 weeks only and already have this issue. I did find out as well online that Whirlpool do have several complaints regarding their self-cleaning oven. I want to either just replace the whole oven or give me cash so I can replace the Whirlpool and buy another brand. I dont see the point of having a self-cleaning oven if this will heat up and shut down the unit or get a suggestion not to use the self-cleaning feature anymore so it wont break. I think this is a design issue and Whirlpool is not taking the responsibility to fix the design to start.
Whirlpool Gold Series Dishwasher Model # WDT710PAYM6 - Purchased this dishwasher in July, 2014. Last week the dishwasher powered off mid cycle. Could not power back up. Tried a few suggestions found online to reset which did not work. I had both a plumber and an electrician look at it. All water lines were fine and power coming in and out of dishwasher and control panel was checked and all looked okay to electrician, but could not get the machine to power up. No longer under warranty. Very dissatisfied there is no recourse.
2007 we purchase a Whirlpool Casio washing machine. Rusted out in three years. 2008 we purchase Whirlpool gold dishwasher. In two years the front panel rusted out. We replaced this panel and now the second one has rusted out. According to Whirlpool they do not cover rust. When we replace the washer it was with a Samsung. NO SIGNS OR RUST IN THE LAST THREE YEARS. When we replace the dishwasher it will not be a Whirlpool. As far as I am concerned, Whirlpool products are junk.
Its just okay. It doesnt clean as well as I expected to regardless of which dishwasher cleaning brand or type I use. It frequently leaves full residue even if the dishes have been pre-soaked. Even though I have it set to see to it, I feel it leaves too much water on the dishes. It doesnt have a rinse and hold setting. This dishwasher doesnt have any extraordinary features. It just has the features you would expect to find on any dishwasher. The size is average but it handles the amount of dishes I have as a one-person household. Its unobtrusive; nothing sticks out, there is no faux metal on it. Those are all features I like. Its not as quiet as it makes itself out to be. On the whole, I feel this is a very average dishwasher.
I have a Whirlpool GoldSeries dishwasher and I wish I had never bought it. I’ll start with the cons because I don’t think any other dishwasher on the market matches this: After 3.5 years either the motherboard or the motor is trash. It will cost so much to fix it that buying a new dishwasher is a better option. I paid more than $800 for the dishwasher + $200 for the install + $75 for the service call to find out it is garbage. I used it about 2-3 times per week, which adds up to about 455 uses total for the time I used it. This shows that the cost of this dishwasher, without operational cost considered, is $2.36 per load (or $307.14 per year if you prefer). No other appliance I have ever owned was as expensive, over its lifetime, as this dishwasher.Whirlpool customer service was difficult to get a hold of and then obstinate and useless. The dishwasher would stink if it was not cleaned regularly. Pros: It is quiet and it cleans the dishes well. Recommendation: Do not waste your money on this. Many other dishwashers are quiet and clean dishes but not many will be this big or expensive. A disappointment over their lifespan.
Three years ago I bought a bottom freezer Whirlpool Gold refrigerator from Lowes. Two days after it was installed, I noticed a pool of water on the kitchen floor. This happened again. I called Lowes and they brought out another refrigerator, same make and model, and took the first one away. A year later the same thing happened. I had it repaired - quite an ordeal for the technician. He had to order a part and found it difficult to actually get into the freezer. Now after a year and a half approximately the same thing is happening. I cant afford to continue the repair bills and dont like the inconvenience (what if this happens when Im away from home?). The pool of water is substantial - its as though the defrost is simply emptying through the front of the freezer onto my floor.
I have use Whirlpool washers and dryer for years. I had Washer and dryer that lasted me 20 years, even when I thought they were going out I had purchased another set maybe two years before and they were still running so I left them in the house I sold, I would recommend Whirlpool to my friends and family.
We purchased a Whirlpool Gold self-cleaning oven three months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. First of all, the new aqua clean system is a joke. I ended up scouring the inside with cleanser and a scouring pad for over 30 minutes to get all the baked-on food that the aqua clean system did not get off. Now Im not wanting to use the oven to cook anything that splatters. Secondly, the oven does not cook when using the convection mode. I thought convection was suppose to cook quicker but in my case, I have to cook the food longer. Thirdly, the bulb burnt out in the oven after only three months. Im glad we are trying to sell the house because I could not live with all the problems very much longer.
This morning another chunk of our Whirlpool Microwave handle fell off while I was cooking breakfast. I got on the internet after breakfast and typed in whirlpool microwaves to see if anyone else had experienced problems with their microwave handles and found this site. We purchased a Whirlpool Microwave oven from Lowes in 2011 (over the range model). About two weeks after it was installed, I noticed a crack in the handle. Then a few days after that, a small chunk of glass/plastic fell off of the handle when I shut the microwave door. Since that time, the door handle has been steadily disintegrating. Sometimes chunks of plastic fall off when one shuts the door, even if you are very gentle. Chunks of plastic fall off nearly every time I clean the microwave door, even if I dont touch the handle. Sometimes chunks fall off randomly when Im not even using the microwave. Pieces of plastic have fallen into my cooking pots a few times. Perhaps the steam from the cooking food loosens the cheap glue holding the handle on? What an inferior product! I am very dissatisfied with Whirlpool and will not recommend their products to anyone.
I purchased a side-by-side Whirlpool fridge and the ice maker stopped working 2 weeks after I purchased it. The retailer said that I would have to go through Whirlpool to resolve the matter. This has gone on for almost six months now. Ive had two service companies do 7 service calls to fix the problem and today, the 8th service call was supposed to happen and the guy never showed up. The company has lied to me telling me that it will just be one more service call each and every time.I want my refrigerator exchanged for a new one. They are refusing to do so until each service call is completed. I think they sold me a lemon based on the fact that nobody seems to be able to fix the issue. I cant seem to get anywhere with Whirlpool at this point and dont feel that I should have to keep a product that never worked from the start. Help! Is there some kind of lemon law on appliances?
Kitchen Aid is Whirlpool - Buyer Beware. 1.5 year old dishwasher Model #KUDS35FXSS8 lost power, repairman came and confirmed it to be the panel control and the part is back ordered 4 weeks out. Expected to come day before Thanksgiving, repairman cannot schedule until part arrives thus no guarantee date of fix. Found part online from AppliancePartsPro.com. They shipped it one day later - fixed dishwasher. Whirlpool will not stand behind part because it did not come from them. I have all the proof that it is a Whirlpool Certified Part from a Appliance Parts Pro. Appears Whirlpool would rather have a broken machine in a home rather than help the customer fix it.
We bought a new Whirlpool side by side refrigerator almost a year ago based on good reviews. There are many things that we love about it; however it has had ongoing problems and the the latest one cannot seem to be fixed despite multiple repair calls by two different repair services. The service center has been responsive and even extended our warranty but we are getting tired calling them and having repair people in our home. At what point does Whirlpool consider its appliances to be lemons and replace them?
I shouldve read the reviews online about Whirlpool before buying our washer and dryer Duet. 4 years later the main bearing is going out and its 1200 to fix it. No support from them or anything. They did offer a loyalty discount on a new washer... No thanks. Just would be another headache a few years down the road Im sure. Goodbye Whirlpool. Never buying anything from them or their other brands. Ill definitely spread the word too.
I like the washer for the most part. The thing I dont like is that even though I always keep the door open after doing a load of wash, the gasket continues to grow mold requiring me to do a monthly bleach/sanitizing process which is different than doing a bleach load of wash. The gasket also needs to be cleaned frequently. This is in a front loader.
We purchased a water heater at Lowes. Our old water heater had an issue but we always had good water pressure with the hot water until we made the horrendous mistake to purchase at LOWES - the worst possible place to buy a water heater. They sent the water heater and we had to look for someone to connect the WHIRLPOOL WATER HEATER (the runaway water heater). When it was installed the water pressure at my home was so bad that only one shower can be used at a time. This never happened before with the old water heater, there was no pressure at all.We called LOWES the WORST PLACE TO BUY A WATER HEATER, they did not accept any responsibility and they sent me to the Technician that Lowes has in DENVER to fix the problem. This bad company (WHIRLPOOL) sent us a crooked technician who wanted to charge us $600 dollars to repair something other than the water heater. We did not trust this person and we called another technician who told us that the water heater is not working properly. There is no one at LOWES and NO ONE at the Whirlpool customer service who can help us with this disgraceful water heater.DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL WATER HEATERS. DONT BUY AT LOWES!!! They are crooks! They do not respond for their products. They do not want to exchange the damn water heater as HOME DEPOT would. Buy everything at HOME DEPOT! Run away from Lowes! They dont stand behind their products, they send you all the work and if you have something wrong with your purchase they will not help you.
I paid about $400 for this dishwasher and the regular price was over $600. Got a good deal. It washed dishes wonderfully. All I had to do was scrape the chunks off. It cleaned the rest. BUT... at a certain point, it started NOT cleaning. It was only about 6-7 months old. It was to the point where everything just came out kind of slimy and food grit was re-deposited on the dishes. I cleaned both filters. I made sure there was enough Rinse-Aid all the time. I ran hot water in the sink before starting to make sure the temp was hot enough. My husband went online and someone had instructions about cleaning the water intake because it could sometimes have sediment buildup. Not a difficult process, but there was no gunk in the intake filter. When I listened to a load it seemed like it drained, (most start with that), paused, rinsed for a couple minutes, paused, drained, paused and refilled for the wash cycle. So the pump worked, the arms went round and sprayed. Nothing was in the way of the arms. After it started the wash cycle, it seemed to just stall. It would spray for about a minute and then stop. Im not sure it sprayed after that. The timer kept counting down. It said dishes were clean, but it was an absolute waste of time. I was ready to go buy a cheap dishwasher and throw this one in the dumpster. I think it is a 720 padm??Just after my husband checked the water intake filter, we started another cycle. When it was rinsing, he opened it up and everything seemed to be working ok. It drained, then filled and started the washing cycle and then stopped. He opened it back up and surprise, the water was full on the front level by the float (that turns the water filling off). But in the back of the dishwasher, there was only about an 8th of an inch of water. Online it said the water should fill to just about the top of the heating element. It WASNT. Problem? It wasnt LEVEL. The instructions when installing said it should be leveled. We did when installing it (when it worked great). But looking back, we put in a new hardwood floor about the time it stopped working ok and we didnt put 2 and 2 together. We did not re-level. When we pushed the dishwasher back into its built in cabinet, it must have gotten OUT of level. The rinse part worked I guess. Then it drained and re-filled. After re-leveling the dishwasher, we opened the door at that point. The water was a level depth front to back and side to side. My husband explained what he thought had been the problem to me. When the wash cycle starts it fills, the float shuts off the water at the appropriate level. THEN... the dishwasher starts to pump and fill the arms and the tube up the back that feeds the upper washing arm. So much water goes into the arms and up that tube, the dishwasher looked almost empty of water again. As the dishwasher was now level, it began adding water to compensate for the arm/tube filling. Before the float would shut off too soon because the front part of the tub was full but the back wasnt. Without enough water, the dishes were NEVER going to/COULDNT get clean. The re-leveling made sure that the float didnt turn off the water filling until there was much more water, the CORRECT amount. The next load cycled all the way through, spraying much more than Id heard before and the dishes were clean. P.S. I also got some dishwasher cleaner and used that on a couple empty cycles. I NOW LOVE this dishwasher again. FYI If my husband wasnt handy Id have junked this thing. We HAD leveled the dishwasher when we installed it. Just didnt realize it COULD get un-level just pulling it in and out of the cabinet to install new floors. Check out all the troubleshooting stuff in the manual. But if it doesnt help, put a level inside across the bottom rack, front to back and side to side and make sure the bubble is in the middle of the two lines. The previous dishwasher I had, just made like a fountain of water that went up the middle of the dishwasher into a sort of funnel filling the upper arm. THIS one has that tube up the back and it curls down under the filter and Im guessing it is more sensitive to being OFF LEVEL, because the tube doesnt go straight down, it curls and lays across the bottom of the tub. Without being level, there was never enough water to suck up that tube to start the the actual wash cycle and it just stalled there till the timer said clean at the end. IE: dishes never did wash. BUT IT DOES NOW! Woohooooo!
I would not buy any Honeywell electronic water heater thermostat. Has failed two times. I have to pay for a new one to be mailed and for repair. A bad product from all the reviews. Honeywell is claiming they do not service it anymore and gave me a Sears telephone number. Servicemen have said it is a crap product and fails all the time.
I have an oven hood Whirlpool Microwave. Even though its more of a basic model it has worked terrific so far at about 5 years old. Only draw back is the extremely loud 4 beep alarm upon completion of warming up food. I actually cringe when it is about to go off especially early in the morning. Ours doesnt have the handy options button to turn it off. I have tried other combos with the buttons to see if they have it set up different but to no avail. Does anyone know if you can shut it off. The people who design these things must not have babies because they would think of this at nap time Im sure. Truly the sound this thing emits could wake the dead! I also had the fancy Whirlpool before like some folks mentioned about the handle and door frame cracking and disintegrating. Guess what, so did my parents, sisters, aunts and my neighbors. Definitely a major design flaw or faulty materials. My sister, mom got new doors and they began cracking again within a year!
Have two Whirlpool refrigerators. Both perform well. Love the glass shelves, which make it easy to see whats inside and to keep clean. The newest one has the water dispenser inside and not in the door. Would probably not even consider another brand.
I bought a new Whirlpool electric range in the spring of 2008 and purchased the extended warranty from Leons. The oven worked fine for the first three & 1/2 years, but then the bottom element in the oven seemed to have stopped working. The top element would still come on, in an effort to keep the oven at temperature, but was not effective.I called in a repair. The technician showed up, turned the oven on, noted that the bottom element did not come on properly & replaced the motherboard in the control panel with no further diagnosis. The oven worked for approximately 9 months and then the problem recurred. I called in another warranty repair. This time when the technician showed up, he turned the oven on & told me he was going to order a new bottom element, which he installed about a week later, again, with no further diagnosis. Now, here we are again, one month off warranty and 6 mos since the last repair, and again, the bottom element in the oven is not working correctly. I reported the issue & my dissatisfaction to Whirlpool and was basically told, How sad, too bad - hardware components fail and theres nothing we are going to do about it. Seriously? This range is just barely 5 years old and has a history of repeated problems with the bake function - obviously, something is defective in this product.I can see it, if I had not had any problems until this point, but when the same issue keeps coming up & obviously has not been correctly diagnosed and repaired, I would think they would have enough integrity to offer some kind of help or solution. Given the history here, its highly unlikely that Im going to be willing to spend big bucks on another attempted repair that, in all likelihood, will be merely a short term band-aid, so Ill probably have to buy another new range - which I cant really afford right now. Trust me, it will not be a Whirlpool & it will not be from Leons.
I am on my second Whirlpool hot water heater within 7 years and both had a 9-year supposed warranty. Upon replacing the pop-off valve (at my expense), I paid $98 to replace the gas valve (part was issued by Whirlpool). Still having problems with pop valve and now the pilot light wont stay lit. Upon calling the number (877 817-6750) I was finally told they would replace the heater. When I stated that I did not want another faulty Whirlpool heater and that I would take the faulty heater back to place of purchase but that I wanted a local plumber to install their own heater, I was told that I had to have a thermal expansion tank or they basically would not do anything. Why would I want a third Whirlpool product? The second one is ruining my tiled basement floor as it is. So after spending over $600 for the faulty heater, now I have to spend $700 to replace it.
I purchased the Cabrio washer/dryer in 2006. We have had it repaired 6 times and I even purchased a two year extended warranty after having issues with it the first year. Now I seem to be in the same boat. The washer will not spin and drain. This has already been looked at by a technician several months ago. I feel like this product is faulty and has not worked properly from the start. Are there lemon laws for appliances? It seems that this product would qualify. I will never purchase Whirlpool again.
I bought my fridge 6 years ago. 13 months after purchase I had to replace the compressor. Last month I had to replace the water drip pan. Now the fridge is knocking and hissing again and warm inside. Compressor needs to be replaced. I contacted Whirlpool and they said 6 years is old for an appliance. Seriously!?? What about 13 months when the compressor went? They obviously dont stand behind their products. They are unable to admit I got a dud. Im so disappointed and frustrated. Stay clear!!!
Sixteen months after I bought the Cabrio washer (model # WTW7800XWO), the F1 error light came on. I had to replace the electronic panel on the machine for $400. Whirlpool refused to replace it even though they have been replacing this panel for others. This is a common problem with the Cabrio washer.
I’ve had my Whirlpool Duet for 12 years and it has been a great one. I’m a mom of three sons, all of them wash their own laundry!! Lots of loads are done weekly and it cleans well! We leave the door opened after it’s unloaded so the tub will dry. Every few months, I put a tab in it so it will clean out all of the buildup. I don’t get the “front loader smell” that way.
We bought all new Whirlpool kitchen appliances in February of 2017. The French Door Refridgerator MRF993FIFM we purchased was a large side by side with a water/ice dispenser and freezer on the bottom. The concept of it is great, as it is very roomy. The problem is with the product quality and usability. We are a family of four with the youngest being twelve. We do not have to worry about rough little hands anymore. That being said there is a crack in the back of the plastic casing of one shelf, a crack in the freezer door, the seal doesnt connect on the dispenser side door, the slide out shelf in the freezer doesnt stay on its rollers and the main ice maker stopped working (which never worked properly either). Also, and this is what bothers me the most, the glass on one of the shelves is sealed down so it cannot be cleaned under. But there is a small slit going all the way around that separates it from the plastic. Food is still seeping underneath and creating mold with no way to clean underneath! This was not an inexpensive refrigerator and we were not prepared to have these kinds of problems after a year. We are very unhappy with the quality of this product.
My microwave is very reliable and has lasted a very long time. I have never had a problem other than the circular glass plate that broke. It took me a little time to get use to the timer on it which is a little different than other microwaves that I have used. Overall a good buy.
Purchased a Cabrio Top Loading Washer and Dryer 3 years ago from Lowes and our clothes have NEVER even come close to coming clean without spending a ton on stain removing aids, which only work part time. So I approached the salesperson at Lowes and I was informed (after the fact) that the Cabrio top loaders had poor ratings due to the fact the basket only spun 30 times a minute whereas the front loaders spun 300 times a minute. So after 3 years Im forced to bite the bullet and purchase another washer. Ever since they purchased Maytag, their quality control has gone down the crapper. Now Im going back to the old reliable, the agitator washer. Newer is not better in this case.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT IN MY LIFETIME!!!! If I could I would rate this fridge and Whirlpool’s repair and customer service a NEGATIVE 100. My wife and myself purchased this refrigerator on 6/2/19. On 6/16/19 we noticed that it was not cooling as should, we called in to set up a repair service call only to find out that we had to wait until 6/20/19 to have a service tech come out to look at the refrigerator. When the service person came out to look at it he stated that it needed a sensor??? And that they would have to wait until the evaporator thawed out to replace the sensor. We had to reschedule another tech on the following Monday 6/24/19 to replace the part. 8 days after the refrigerator stopped cooling. Now fast forward 2 weeks and now we have the exact same issue, whatever was fixed did not correct the issue. We had to call back into Whirlpool to make a setup another service call. We have to wait 5 more days until a service tech can come out to recheck the issue. Whirlpool offered no other assistance. If I could I would return this defective unit and buy a different brand of refrigerator. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT IN MY LIFETIME!!!! I will make sure that I let everyone I know that I would never recommend a Whirlpool product!!
We bought a house almost 10 years ago and it included a Maytag washer and dryer. About 5 years ago, we decided to buy the Whirlpool front loaders. What a mistake as the washer shook every time it ran. After several warranty service calls and days of vacation waiting for the service, they finally said they couldnt do anything. During that time I had been in contact with Whirlpool and asked for them to take them back. Of course they wouldnt. I asked for a swap for top load washer and they would need to also replace the dryer to match: still no deal. It took a letter from a lawyer to make it happen. They also bought back the washer and dryer stands which covered the lawyers costs. So shortly after I received the Cabrio washer and matching dryer, the lid is very heavy which I believe the lid spring broke. I refused to call the service company as I did not want to go thru that crap again. I also know I can fix it myself easier and without all the drama. I keep waiting for another failure but so far all is acceptable. Whirlpool is not the same company as they were when I made my living doing warranty service for Whirlpool! 30 years ago they were the best in the industry. The Maytag pair was giving to our relative and they are still working flawlessly. Unfortunately Whirlpool now owns Maytag. This experience has cost Whirlpool replacing our kitchen appliances. As much as I want to buy American, I will go with Bosch or LG only.
I have the same issue with cooking time on my Whirlpool wall oven (WFE54OHOES). Bought it in January and have not yet had a single recipe come out cooked. Outside is crisp, inside uncooked, after twice the amount of time it used to take. Its still under warranty. Service came out and told me to bake differently. Thats an answer for you. I am going to pursue this issue with Best Buy where we purchased it.
This is the worst product (Whirlpool Cabrio Washer) I have ever purchased. I paid $999 for it new. I had to have it repaired at the cost of $500 at just two years old. My sister bought and had the exact same repair needed. I used to trust Whirlpool but not anymore. I wont buy Maytag either since it is a Whirlpool product as well.
On November 1, 2011, I purchased the Whirlpool Estate washer (model # ETW4400XQ) from Wholesale Appliance in Charleston, SC. The first time I used it I knew something wasnt right when both the regular and so-called gentle cycle agitated at an incredibly fast speed. It is damaging my clothes. I called the dealer and they sent out a service person. He said that was just the way it was and he couldnt do anything. So, I keep trying to use the gentle cycle, but it was the same thing. I would have to stand by the machine and stop it after a couple of minutes so it wouldnt ruin the clothes. The more I thought about it, I decided that the repairman wasnt right. I called Whirlpool customer service and they sent a different repair service. He also said that he couldnt do anything to make it slow down as it was programmed by a computer inside and he could not change it. I went to the dealer, Wholesale Appliances, and they said there was nothing they could do as far as giving me a refund or a discount on a better machine. The setting on the washer clearly says gentle cycle.” Well, the whole world knows that does not mean beat the clothes to death as fast as possible. Can you make any suggestions? Thanks.
I bought the Whirlpool Cabrio top loader set in 2006. Honeymoon was over after the first year and I had to change the dryer element then the washer with the F51 code six months later. Last year, I had to replace the heating element again! For the last six months, I have been dealing with the dreaded UL on the washer. I cant afford to pay a technician $100 to come out and tell me whats wrong let alone what they will charge to repair a problem that, from the looks of this message board, will never be fixed. I have no choice but to get it fixed in order to sell the ** machine. I paid $1400 for this brand new set and have already invested $500 in repairs. How is this possible? I had a 20-year-old machine prior to this and never had an issue. There are lemon laws for cars, why arent there any for appliances over a certain amount? How in this day and age can a company be allowed to sell such garbage? I will never, ever buy another Whirlpool appliance as long as I live. Any other brand can have my money any day.
This washing machine is terrible. It barely cleans my clothes and frequently gets off balance. I am now on my second repair call in less than 3 years. (I bought the unit in the summer of 2013. It is now the winter of 2016.) The last repair guy tried to blame me, suggesting that I was filling it too much and with heavy materials. Last night, I washed 5 or 6 doggie towels. Not even large, bath sized towels. And the whole thing just stopped. It wont spin and wont unlock. What a piece of crap.
The wash machine is JUNK. We paid $2500.00 for our washer & dryer at lowes in 2012. I HATE IT from the start. It has destroyed most of my clothes. I hate doing my clothes. The water does not get my clothes wet, they dont get them clean AND the washer dont even get them wet. THEY need to do a recall or get us a lawyer. ALL the money I have put in this washer. The price we paid for them is a SHAME. IT is WRONG they are telling people that this washer is the best. They lie. I HATE HATE THEM.
My wife and I purchased a brand new dishwasher less than a month ago. It stopped working after less than a month. After waiting hours on hold, the service company they sent out, went out of business before the appointment. Now after 3 months of nothing but frustration. I have written many emails and none have been replied back to. Worst customer service ever!! Not not buy Whirlpool or Kitchenaid (same company).
I bought my Whirlpool Cabrio washer from Lowes in Statesboro GA on 2-14-14. I did purchases an extended warranty on it. After 11 months is when I started to have my problems. I was washing my clothes. I did not hear my beep on my washer. After 2 hours my laundry should have been done. I stopped on the wash cycle and shut off. I put it on the rinse cycle thinking it washed my clothes. It shut off during the rinse cycle. I called the Lowes repair. ** was to come the next day, He did not show up. I had to call again. It took 2 more days before he came out.It takes over 6 business days before I get my part. I have to have my laundry washed else where. It did the same thing again. I called. ** came out. He ordered the other part. It took 7 business days. It came in Tuesday. I tried to wash my daughters comfort on Wednesday. It did the same thing. Shut off during the wash cycle. I called at once. ** was to have been here Thursday. He never showed up. I called Friday. They said hell be there by 5. He still never showed up. I called back today .This time ** called me. He said, “So you tore it up?” I said, “NO it’s still doing the same thing.” He said hell be here tomorrow between 8-12. I am so tired of this washer. I even asked if I could get a replacement. They said no. I said this is stressing me out. I am on anxiety pills already. This is not doing any good. I paid all the money for this washer and it does not work. I have to arrange to have my laundry done some where else. All they said was sorry. This is the worse washer to buy.
I bought a new non-frost 14 cubic Whirlpool fridge Model # W4TXNWFWQ in 2013 from PC Richards. The freezer keeps getting busted. It actually produces a lot of frost which stops the entire fridge from running properly. The tech said this is a common problem with Whirlpool. I am lucky to have bought the 3 years warranty. But when I call to fix the problem it always takes them a few days and I have to miss work for this non-sense.
This product deserves ZERO stars! I purchased a Cabrio washer - dryer in October, 2013. I have carefully followed the instructions for the washer. I am hugely distressed about the large amount of money I spent on a washer that is absolutely terrible, horrible, awful., no words can adequately express how bad this so-called washer is. The low-water washing has torn up all of my new towels in the matter of a couple of washes. It has completely ripped out the hems of the towels and pulled long ragged strings in the towel. And these were not cheap towels. I am mad at myself for not researching better before buying. I hope my complaint can save another consumer from the misery I am suffering because of this shameful product.
Will never buy another Whirlpool/GE product again. Nothing but problems. Paid $1700 for a Whirlpool/goldstar refrigerator 2 years ago. Problems from the start with slide-out shelf cracking, evaporator fan burnt out within 2 years, digital display cannot read anymore. Now have another problem again - not cooling. Going to the trash. No wonder your stock price have dropped. I would sell off to. Whirlpool/GE have been going down hill for the last 5 years. Maybe more. Cheap products, do reflect, it just a matter of time, I would think you would address these issues in your product line, but it shows your company is all about profits instead of quality of products. Keep going like you are, and you will be bankrupt. Cheap overpriced and nothing but junk in any products you manufacture.
Cabrio Top Washer - Disappointed!! Its selling point was using less water but do they realize that you DO have to use a little water to clean clothes. Leaves residue on every load and where I have to use the extra rinse cycle and that still doesnt work. This product is going on eBay today! Never again Whirlpool.
I originally brought this to the attention of Whirlpool on February 27, 2014, and they chose to ignore the matter I raised. I am appalled at their customer service, but then again, customer service has been dead in America for decades now. I purchased a KitchenaAid (Architect Series II, Model KERS807SSS02, Ser. XW4704146) oven in 2009, which included a 5-year extended warranty. The first time I had to use my extended warranty was the first time a pot overboiled and thus overflowed covering the top of my range. Since then, Ive had to have my oven serviced two other times, but resulting from a pot which overflowed on the range. The controls are located in the front, directly below the stove top. There is most definitively a flaw in the design of the model I purchased. It seems quite obvious to me that the design should have included protection from moisture reaching the controls. It is very common for pots to overboil, from time to time, and thus overflow, but this should not cause the controls to malfunction due to seepage. Had I purchased the model that had controls behind the range and controls above the cooking surface, moisture would never reach the controls when a pot overflows. It should not cost hundreds of dollars each time a pot overflows on a range. Had I known that the oven model I purchased had a design flaw that allows moisture to reach the computer controls of the oven, I would have purchased the oven with the controls above the cooking surface.I invested over $2K on this oven because having owned KitchenAid appliances in the past, the KitchenAid brand had historically proven reliable. KitchenAid (or now Whirlpool) can no longer take pride in the quality of their products, most likely relative to the loss of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Whirlpool ignored me the first time I contacted them on this matter and most recently today when I was told that it was a use matter. Apparently they believe that an overflowed pot is not a common occurrence on a range. I wrote directly to Jeff Fettig, CEO of Whirlpool and he has chosen to ignore me.
A disaster from start to finish. I would give it zero stars if possible. Purchased from Home Depot online in September, 2020. The first delivery was scheduled for October 11, 2020 at 7am on a Sunday. I spent hours on the phone trying to get the time changed. I was assured it would take place later. That didnt happen. The delivery service Temco called at 6:30a and refused to come back later. I had to make a new appointment. A week later they delivered the dishwasher, left it on the porch, refused to uncrate it or bring it inside the house, refused to haul away the old machine and stole the Dishwasher parts kit that I had paid for which delayed installing the dishwasher. After the machine was installed I discovered the machine did not come with a manual. I was told I had to download and print the manual. When I complained that I should not have to use my paper and ink to print a users manual after paying $800 for a dishwasher. I was promised a check to offset my costs. I was supposed to get a credit for my inconvenience but that never happened either. The first time I ran the machine using the one hour cycle water was all over the machine and I had to dry inside. I was told that I had to use a longer wash cycle so I did the second time. After 4 hours of washing, the glasses had a film on them, even though I rinse the dishes before putting them in the machine the dishes had some debris on them and water had still collected on the top of the glasses.Whirlpool sent a repair company out and the technician said motor pump and display control were faulty and it would probably be cheaper to replace the dishwasher rather than repair it. I was told I would get an email the next day telling me what would happen. I never got the email. During the week I called Whirlpool and Home Depot many times to complain about the faulty dishwasher, stolen parts and the promised refunds for my inconvenience as well as having to print the manual. Calling Whirlpool or Home Depot customer care will take hours and gets you nowhere. A week after the repair person came out I called the repair company to request a report as to what had been done and was told that they were coming back out the following Monday to fix the machine again. Monday, The repair technician came out and replaced the control panel but not the pump. The machine wont heat up to dry the dishes--the heating coil wasnt even warm after being on for 8 min. I am supposed to be contacted again for a 3rd visit!! I have a dishwasher that is faulty (read lemon) and Home Depot wont allow me to return it because their return policy is 48 hours after delivery. Whirlpool refuses to replace it unless the technician says it cant be fixed. Obviously, that will never happen. I should have repaired my old dishwasher rather than waste my money on this horrible machine. Whirlpool used to make fine products but those days are over. How does running a dishwasher for four hours saving energy? My old over 10 year old Whirlpool dishwasher was perfect until the pump broke. The dishes were always clean, dry and came out of the machine hot and sanitized. I am so disappointed in both Whirlpool and Home Depot.
Purchased brand new washer & dryer that was chosen specifically for its HE & washing capabilities as Im a single mom with 5 kids, 2 of whom have disabilities, & I need a good washer & dryer. Washer and dryer both broke several times. I paid for an extended warranty but they never resolved the issue. Called Whirlpool & they didnt care. Four years later, Im using a set I bought used that rips my clothes while the washer & dryer sit still broken. Will never buy from Whirlpool or Kettles again.
I bought my refrigerator model #WRV986FDEM, in October. It has not made ice in over a month. I think its very unfair to purchase a product and not be able to use it. The technician has been out here twice and the situation is still not resolved. I understand that customer service is not a strong suit of your company but I am not a customer to be taken lightly. I paid almost three thousand dollars for this piece of junk and I want it to work properly. I find it unacceptable that the technician just left and the situation is not resolved. I will be posting my displeasure on every site I can today since I had to take yet another day off to accommodate you and your inferior product. ALL I WANT IS ICE from a fridge I bought 4 months ago. In the words of our illustrious president. Very, Very BAD.
This is Whirlpool model MVWP835DC2. I bought brand new. Recently used about once a week. Got an alarm that indicated no communication to core unit. Talked to Whirlpool service and unit is out of warranty (20 months) and advised I should use authorized service company to come and diagnose. This took 2 weeks. Service man came, washer did not power up. He quoted that repairs would be $750 and not worth it, buy a new one. I went on internet and found YouTube videos that showed how to diagnose and fix. I called Whirlpool for new console, $350 and one month. Went to parts house and got part for $250. This fixed problem.I have a few problems with this machine and company. 1) This now turns out to be a known problem with these machines. The console fails. I am not sure how this is going to last 30 years. 2) Service man took nothing apart and could not diagnose problem with no power. He quoted $350 for the console and the balance for the core. He was guessing or pulling a scam. Take your choice.3) Part not available from Whirlpool because so many are failing. Thanks for making a great product.
We purchased this machine new less than 6 months ago. We found that it is not cleaning our jeans. We cant even work cattle and get our jeans clean. I called Sears and Whirlpool and told them it does not clean our jeans. They said it was under warranty and that they would come out to see if it was working properly. Well they said it was and then sent us a bill for $77. They said Customer Instruct was not covered under warranty. I already read the instructions and I knew how to operate this machine. The technician said this is not the first time he has had this type of complaint. Anyway I am VERY dissatisfied with this washing machine and I want Sears and Whirlpool to take it back and give me a better machine. I want one that can get clothes clean. If you are satisfied with dirty clothes then I guess you will like this machine.
Ice maker stopped making ice. This side by side Whirlpool refrigerator was purchased 4 years ago. We called Whirlpool. An authorized repair man identified the problem. At the bottom hinge of the freezer door two of the wires have been broken. A defective design, but no recall from Whirlpool. The solution is to replace the entire freezer door for a cost of $1200. Ridiculous that a replacement door cost more than the purchase price from Lowes. It would appear that these 2 wires could be reconnected, but Whirlpools only solution is an entire new door. Automakers stand behind their products with recalls, but its not the same with Whirlpool. Love my Whirlpool range, washer and dryer, but this counter depth side by side is a real loser.
We purchased a Duet washer in Feb 2011. On Nov 2011, it started making a very loud noise when it would spin. We contacted the warranty company, not realizing it was still under the manufacturers warranty. The warranty company came out and took a look and claimed it would be about $1500.00 in parts to repair. We contacted whirlpool and they also sent a service person that claimed the same thing. Both service people claimed that the other did something to the machine and it was the others responsibility to fix it. We have contacted whirlpool and the parts have been ordered. We were informed today that they are on backorder and will not be available until some time the middle to the end of January. When asked why they just dont replace the washer, the answer we received was that was not the policy.
I purchased a side-by-side Whirlpool refrigerator less than three years ago, but about a year ago we discovered it was leaking from the freezer thats located on the bottom. Initially we thought that if we simply defrosted the sheet of ice that formed on the bottom of the freezer - it would stop the leaking. Its hard to keep up with - I checked into it on the Internet and discovered that there is a clogged drain hole that is causing the leaking.Apparently, a number of people are experiencing the same thing. I called Whirlpool (since our local repairman suggested we contact them because this is a chronic problem and is likely to happen again). The customer service person kept pushing me to buy the extended warranty with their repair that will cost nearly $400!!! Without it - it will cost nearly $200 that doesnt include any parts. Its a new refrigerator, very bad quality and theres damage to our kitchen floor, and then Whirlpool wants me to pay $400 to repair the mess they made! VERY UPSET...
Purchased the Gold Series Dishwasher Model No: WDF730PAYM0 Serial No: F14403489 on Dec 2011, started using it from Jan 2012. All is good until June 2014. It started leaking from the bottom, called Whirlpool - the great bad company. Since it is not under warranty they asked to schedule an appointment with their local authorized rip off service company. Technician come on the service day and told me that it is $120.00 for the service call and Labor and parts are extra, first of all $120.00 to come to my house is first rip off, that is the reason Whirlpool on their website do not give any estimates on the service call. After checking the appliance he said main assembly is bad and needs to replace and that will cost more than the original purchase price - what a ripoff. He asked me to contact Whirlpool, they may help since this is the known issue with this model. Called Whirlpool and mentioned and they said it is too old to continue to operate so they cannot help. Ended up trashing the 2.5 year old dishwasher for the new GE dishwasher. Never buy a Whirlpool ever again even on sale. Whirlpool company is not ethical and not ready to help consumer, would love to see them close their operation in America.
We have also had many problems with 3 year old convection oven. After about 2 months the broiler would just come on in the bake mode. I called Whirlpool about this problem and they were a bit ignorant on the matter. They said they could arrange a service call, but if they did not find the same problem mentioned that I could be charged a service call, even though it is under warranty. I denied at the time and the problem did not happen again for about another 1-1/2 years or so. In the last few months it has happened a number of times and the one time my wife leaves the room, the potpie burns up. She also lost a pan of brownies. Now we make sure that someone is in the kitchen when the oven is in use. Today the broiler comes on while pre-heating and for the 1st time we receive a message TURN OFF POWER TO RESET in which I did thru the breaker. It took forever to cool down, then she is going to try again. I also am going to contact Whirlpool and see what they have to say. Last I checked there was no recall for this model (#GFE461LVS), but there should be after reading all of the complaints or they are bound to have a lawsuit on their hands or maybe even a class action lawsuit.
The knobs on the Whirlpool gas stove model Super Capacity 465 AccuBake system are easily confusing and dangerous. If the knob is turned in the wrong direction when intending to turn the burner off, it turns to a very low setting which is although nice for simmering, it is very easy for it to be mistaken as the off position and leaves only the gas leaking if the smell is not noticed in time.
I called and emailed Whirlpool because the water dispenser drips all over the front of the fridge and floor. They had the nerve to tell me to use a cup for the problem and there was nothing they could do. They were no help with this problem.
I bought this Whirlpool Cabrio Washer 3 years ago. Yesterday will be my last repair. I installed a new tub (bearing failed have to buy a full tub to replace), new suspension rods and a new stator and rotor (cracked). Last year I replaced a drain pump twice, and a computer board. All of these repairs since I purchased this washer have cost me well over $900 for a $1400 machine. I dont mind replacing a pump every few years but these larger failures are unacceptable. We have moved back to Kenmore on some new appliances we purchased this year as result of trouble with Whirlpool. Whirlpool should send out a recall on the suspension rods; the existing ones seize at the top and stop functioning causing the tub to shake excessively. This led to the cracked motor (rotor cracked).
We originally became alarmed by an awful smell and noticed that our Whirlpool Conquest side-by-side refrigerator freezer/fridge was not keeping food items cold. Upon further inspection, we saw that the compressor starter in had started fire and melted. Our refrigerator model #GS6SHAXLS42 and serial #SM3832794.
I purchased a Whirlpool wash machine and dryer from Home Depot 3 years ago. From the outset we had problems with both units. Wash machine spin cycle does not work properly, and that causes a problem with getting clothes dry. Some soiled clothes will not clean properly and have to be hand washed. Dryer rarely works on one cycle, towels and bed sheets have to be run through a second cycle. These are NOT energy savers. Garbage product, I will never buy Whirlpool again.
We bought a Gold Series dishwasher on 2/12/2013. It stopped working properly and we had a service call on August 6, 2013. Since then, we have had 3 companies come out 5 different times to try to fix the machine. Nothing on the top rack gets clean. In fact ,they come out dirtier than when they go in. The last service call was on October 7, 2013. I was told by a Whirlpool representative that the repairman would call technical services and that if the problem was not solved, that the machine would be deemed unrepairable and that Whirlpool would replace the machine since it was within the warranty. I was also told that their standard is that if a machine has to have 3 service repairs to be deemed unrepairable. So 7 days after the last repair, the machine was still not washing correctly. Once again everything on the top rack was dirty. The machine has had the motor, the pump, and the hoses replaced. Still doesnt work. So I called again to get the ball rolling on replacing the machine and was told that they would not replace the machine and that I needed to have another repairman come out and sit in front of the machine and call technical service. Apparently, the previous repairman didnt follow their instructions. I called and complained twice, I guess Whirlpool thinks that as consumers we have the ability to change work schedules, school schedules, take vacation time, etc. to wait around for the 6th service call, and wait through the 5-hour window that we are given for the repairman to get there. Well we dont. Obviously I have given Whirlpool plenty of opportunities to fix this problem. They havent been able to do so with 3 different companies. There comes a time when you just stop kicking the dead horse. Now is that time. If they cant figure out whats wrong the first time, and not the second time, and not the third time, why do they think the 6th time is the charm? Because I got so upset with them, they referred me to a customer care manager. She called and left me a message, and I have been calling her now for 2 days with no success on her DIRECT line nonetheless. My phone calls are not returned. I wont even go into how many customer service reps told me a different story every time I called. Whirlpools customer service doesnt care about their consumers. They dont care about our complaints. Now I have a $600 piece of junk. I will never buy another Whirlpool product. I will make sure that every person I know that is looking at appliances knows about what a horrible company Whirlpool is. They just put crap in a shiny package!
All of sudden, this expensive microwave stopped heating. Called whirlpool, they said they will charge $300 to fix it and $540 to replace. So much after paying new piece of garbage in 2-3 years.
Whirlpool Accubake Gas stove/oven - Several times now, in the year and a half that Ive owned this appliance, Ive had issues with the knobs easily being turned on. The pilot never lights, and gas leaks horribly. One day I decided to take my daughter to the park and wed ran into the kitchen to grab a few drinks. A few hours later when we came home, I barely got the key in the door when I smelled gas. I left the door wide open and stepped inside the house and saw the not one, but two knobs had somehow been turned on. Im assuming that when my daughter and I grabbed our drinks, one or both of us must have barely bumped the knobs. We had to stand outside and leave the front door open for over an hour to air out the house!Ive found that I literally have to keep the knobs off the stove to prevent the gas from leaking in our home and someone passing out. NEVER in a million years would I have made such a huge purchase (and yes, its a huge purchase for a single mother!) on something thats used on a daily basis if I had known what a danger it could be. I almost forgot to add, that the stove top grill began rusting the first time I washed them off and the oven often does not light and we have to leave the drip pan unscrewed in order to light the pilot.
We purchased a new Cabrio top loading washer in June of 2011 to replace a Maytag Neptune (thinking at the time that wed gone as low as possible). We didnt abuse the machine. In fact, because it had a tempered glass lid (in a plastic frame), we were careful with the lid on the machine. It broke during a wash cycle. Because its heavy, the lid has spring supports on both sides; these are stronger than the plastic frame and over time the frame will break, rendering the machine inoperable. The discounted price for a new lid is over $200, and Maytag (I mean Whirlpool) tells us that it lasted through the 365 day warranty, so the bill is on us. It may be green when it works, but taking 18 month appliances to the landfill is not very green. And others on the web report say that the lid only lasts a year or so. The ratings scale needs to have negative values. Id give this appliance a -5.
I bought a fridge from Sears located in King of Prussia, PA on February 1, 2011 model ED5LHAXWB02. The fridge was leaking from the water dispenser the day it was installed. The technician said it was normal and it will stop in 2 to 3 days. The leaking never stopped, multiple attempts has not solved the problem and the fridge has never stopped leaking. We have to keep towels under the water dispenser to prevent damage to our kitchen wood. Despite the problem existing from day one of delivery, a replacement or refund has been declined to us. Sears technical assistance was not able to remedy the problem, after a series of missed appointments. Sears technical service attempted to fix the problem without success and has not suggested any further solution. Sears technical service claimed that they have been in contact with Whirlpool. During the warranty period, we asked for a replacement or a refund. Nothing has been done. Whirlpool just provides lemons to their customers.
I recently purchased a new Whirlpool propane water heater. Dependable name, dependable product, years of trusted service, right?! We have bought many Whirlpool products over the years but never again. Got it home and installed it. It sounded like a plane taking off, and that was in the garage. Next came the lack of hot water. Mind you, we replaced a 40-gallon tank with a 40-gallon tank and the last one we had lasted 18 years without a problem.Well, same showers as usual, and we were turning up the heat mid-shower and again and again during the shower. Even turning up the heat on the water heater didnt relieve the problem. We are not happy with the product. And, no, there is nothing mechanically wrong with it; its just sub-par. Our water heater from 18 years ago worked more efficiently than this newer model. We called customer service, and we were told that unless there was something mechanically wrong with it, such as a defect, there was nothing we could do. There’s simply no recourse.Shame on Whirlpool for not making a quality product and standing behind it. This was a very expensive purchase - over $500.00. We thought we were buying a quality appliance. Very disappointed, and I will be returning it. I’m never buying another Whirlpool product again. I can only hope that the company we bought it from has a better customer service policy. Very frustrated and disappointed.
Ive had so many problems with this washer. Everything has been replaced on the machine and it is still a failure! It has overflowed 5+ times. Stopped draining 4 times (fun getting water out of it...). Have been without a washer for a total of two months! My In-Laws have the same and theirs hasnt been a problem (however it isnt used as much as mine.). Hopefully mine is just a Lemon! Ill never buy another one!!!!! Especially from Lowes. They deem it only a lemon if it has had the same issue for 4-5 times. That is with the extended warranty! TO THE DUMP IT GOES!
I got a Whirpool Cabrio Washer that I purchased in 2008. I am constantly getting ul code. If washer is leveled, it leaks water out the bottom rear of the washer. Its a piece of junk. I called Whirpool to no avail. Whirpool will not stand behind their product. They know they have a problem but wont do anything about it.
Bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer from Home Depot. It started making noises on the spin cycle 2 months after the purchase. A technician came out and concluded it was a clothes hanger behind the machine making the noise. False. Two days later I tried to wash a load. All the panel lights came on. And then the machine died. No power. The tech came out and tried to run tests but the machine would not respond correctly. Informed it has a bad control. The machine will malfunction even if a button is pressed too long. And then its repairman time again. This machine is poorly designed. No doubt whoever designed the digital control panel did not think about ease of use. The tech has to recalibrate the controls after every failure. Whirlpool and Maytag have put out a bad product and this will be my last.
No response from Whirlpool, but I did find out what the rust was. Instead of using stainless steel or plastic or rubber, the inside light frame is made of a cheap metal that has rusted and is literally falling apart, sharp and very rusty pieces were falling into the washer tub. No wonder I find holes in the clothes that werent there before washing. I removed what I could, including the part it should hold, a plastic plate that covers the light, protecting it from moisture. My husband covered it with electrical tape to prevent injury and possible electrocution. I contacted Whirlpool, but they have ignored my questions and have not answered. They do not have a replacement part for it (stated on their parts website) They give you no solutions to a problematic appliance that should have been recalled and taken off the market due to safety issues that have caused injury and possibly worse.
My husband and I purchased a Whirlpool Washing Machine & Dryer a year and a half ago. As of current, the machine has stopped working. The machine will turn on but will not agitate. It makes a horrible grinding noise. The type of washer we purchased was a WTW4900BW0. Whirlpool told us we should have purchased the extended warranty. But, I feel we should get more than a year and a half out of a machine that cost $650.
I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator with French Doors, Model No. GX5SHDXVD03. Within 1 year and 4 months, I had to replace the defrost control board. I spoke to Whirlpools customer service, George ** said he was sorry for my inconvenience but that he refuses to help in any way because I missed the warranty period by 4 months. I spent $352.74 for the parts and labor and lost hundreds more in food. Do not purchase any Whirlpool products. I was told that the boards have been going out frequently.
Purchased the Whirlpool Cabrio supposedly a top of the line washing machine? Not even three years old, used 3 times a week for normal to small loads, for a family of three. Stopped spinning water out, so clothes are soaking wet at the end of the cycle. Repairman said I need a new transmission and inner spin basket is completely worn. New parts will cost me around $500!!!! Repairman said this should not be this worn down in 2 1/2 years. I purchased this machine to replace a Roper brand machine I purchased used for $200 and had for over 10 years without issue! I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again. They do not stand behind their product! I should not have had any issues with this machine for at least 10 years!
After getting a suite of Whirlpool appliances from Home Depot, I found that they were a little below standard to previous Whirlpool we’ve owned. I found the top of the Electric stove could be easily scratched and the refrigerator was noisy. The stainless steel seemed not as heavy as our other ones. The Whirlpool insignia on the refrigerator came lose and I needed to glue it back on. I’ve always had good luck with Whirlpool and we’ll see how this goes. Just to be safe we bought an extended warranty on the fridge.
Sounds crazy, but the outside of my stainless steel door is all dented. I live alone and one day noticed that it looks like someone body slammed my fridge. Is there air in the door panels that could be escaping or something like that? Anyone hear of this?
Greetings: I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator on July 3, 2014. And the supports for the door to open and closed have grinded and worn out - not allowing the door to close properly, requiring being lifted up, and pushed close as much as possible. Not the quality I expected with the purchase of a Whirlpool product. I want this door repaired or replaced at the expense of Whirlpool. Having paid over $600.00 for the product, I didnt expect no problems like this at all, poor design. The weight of the door is too heavy to support a hinge mount in plastic, its ridiculous. Now cooling is being wasted, runs constantly, and just not the quality I expected nor received.
We bought our Whirlpool washer (WTW5700XWO) in April 2011. This machine has so many issues. Lets start with it not getting our clothes clean. Some clothes never even get wet. Then on the other hand, there are times when the clothes come out soaking wet, like it never went through the spin cycle. (We know it did because its super loud!) Recently, it started shutting off during the wash cycle. Sometimes, it doesnt release the soap or the fabric softener. I am so frustrated with this machine. There should be a recall. We paid $700 and now well need to go and shell out more of our hard earned money to buy something that actually works. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance.
Ice maker continuously freezes up & have to pour hot water into the ice maker to get the ice maker off the mounting. VERY ANNOYING, A DEFECT IN THE UNIT= NEED CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS.
I purchased the washer 1.5 years ago. At about 9 months, the latch was in need of replacing. The washer was locked and would not unlock. That was fixed. Fast forward to 1.5 years old and the control board needs replacing. The washer stopped in the midst of a cycle, filled with water. The repairs are over $400 -- nearly the price of a new washer. Ive never had a washer to go out on me. I willingly gave away my previous washer for the purchase of a newer model and did not expect this fiasco. I will recommend against purchasing a Whirlpool washer.
My Cabrio was built in April 2016, its now Feb 2019, and its not working. Shows error code of LF, the inlet water value is bad. I bought a Sears protection plan, repairman comes out, tells me no-one has the part anywhere, its backordered and no way to know when it will deliver. Sounds like a scam so Sears doesnt have to fix it and Whirlpool makes little to none of the part so you have to buy a new machine. This machine also takes forever to wash clothes, sometimes part of the clothes come out dry because not enough water. Its a huge tub, but of no use because theres not enough water to clean properly therefore, you have to do small loads. I always put it on high water because the other features like, quick wash & normal do not give but only little streams of water! The first one I had delivered made a funny noise from day one so Sears replaced it the next day. This one has NOT even lasted 3 yrs. There needs to be new legislation placed upon these companies with regards to the products they make. It should be illegal to make such junk and be able to charge high dollar for it and it doesnt operate well or last very long. They are laughing all the way to the bank on everyones dollar, intentionally making products that last less than a few years! I Will NOT purchase Whirlpool or any of their products again! They owe me a new Cabrio and Im going to make sure I get it and get my moneys worth! DONT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS JUNKER! DONT BE FOOLED BY ITS PRETTY SLEEK LOOK.
I have Whirlpool gas range, model # WFG361LVS1. The igniter went out after only one and a half years of light use (4-5 times a week). I did not buy the extended warranty, so part is not covered. I only asked that they send me the part for free. I talked to a supervisor at Whirlpool (Dave). He said I should have bought the extended warranty. He said he could not help me. He was also very rude. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.
I count myself as lucky... my Whirlpool 465 Accubake Ceramic Cooktop stove was given to me. I have used it for 3 years. One day, out of the blue, the oven, which was in use, started clanging loud and jumping up and down. I started screaming & tried to cut it off & it would not go off. I ran to the panel box & threw the breaker. It also burned my food that was cooking. It did it several times. Then I decided to not cut the light on or touch the button to raise the temp. It has not done it since. I bake everything on 350 degrees and immediately throw the breaker. I am scared of this stove and plan to replace it. I will NOT buy a Whirlpool, anything. (washer/dryer/fridge/aircon)....once bitten...
Do not buy Whirlpool appliances! Save yourself the trouble. I have a Whirlpool free-standing gas range that I bought when I purchased my house in June 2008. Just the other day, the oven stopped working. When I went to turn the oven on, I can hear a clicking sound but the burners in the oven do not ignite. I called Whirlpool and they offered to send someone out to fix the problem. By the time someone comes out and charges me for parts, labor, etc, I will probably have paid half of what I paid for the range when it was new! I also had the same thing happen with a Frigidaire refrigerator last year! The bottom line is that brand name appliances are not built the way they used to be. I am actually looking at buying a Samsung or some other model and try my chances with them!
If I could give no stars I would. I own the Whirlpool Cabrio, which I bought only 2 years ago. Im on my 3rd service call. They replaced my board after only 1 year of owning it and now 2years later its the same error message (F6E2), the board again. Besides this problem the machine is horrible! Every load has to be done on the deep water mode or else your clothes will come out with dry areas. Forget about darks - they come out with lint and soap residue all over them. So for darks you have to use extra rinse cycle but still the clothes come out with lint all over them. Laundry has turned into a nightmare for me. And the clothes arent clean. If I dont spray and scrub any stains, the clothes come out with the stain still on them. Dirty white socks come out dirty, even with bleachI dont use warm water on my clothes because it shrinks them and I dont put all of my clothes in the dryer because it shrinks them. So I am constantly using lint rolls, like crazy on all my darks. And even though the machine is very large I was told to never put a lot of laundry in it because nothing will get clean. So now I have to do more loads of wash. Doing laundry has turned into a job, a horrible job that takes hours. So now I have to use deep water, extra rinse and smaller loads so how is this energy efficient - its NOT, its the opposite of efficient. I am doing more wash and using more water. I use liquid HE detergent like they said. I clean my washer when it lights up to clean it. I dont know what else to do. I just called whirlpool about all of this and my second board being broke within 2 yrs and they dont stand by their products. I have to just keep getting it fixed through my extended warranty company. Thank goodness I bought an extended warranty.I would never ever buy anything whirlpool again! Dont buy this washer if its still available, it is the worst. Even if cabrio isnt available (which I dont see on their site) I still wouldnt buy whirlpool. They should replace my machine with a different one at this point. Not that I want another whirlpool but at least I would have a machine that works. This machine completely stopped working after the error code so I have no machine for 4 days now. I waiting for my extended warranty to get back to me and then I have to make an appointment for the appliance company to come and fix it. This is crazy. All these days and I cant do laundry. This is not acceptable!
