I bought a new Whirlpool electric range in the spring of 2008 and purchased the extended warranty from Leons. The oven worked fine for the first three & 1/2 years, but then the bottom element in the oven seemed to have stopped working. The top element would still come on, in an effort to keep the oven at temperature, but was not effective.I called in a repair. The technician showed up, turned the oven on, noted that the bottom element did not come on properly & replaced the motherboard in the control panel with no further diagnosis. The oven worked for approximately 9 months and then the problem recurred. I called in another warranty repair. This time when the technician showed up, he turned the oven on & told me he was going to order a new bottom element, which he installed about a week later, again, with no further diagnosis. Now, here we are again, one month off warranty and 6 mos since the last repair, and again, the bottom element in the oven is not working correctly. I reported the issue & my dissatisfaction to Whirlpool and was basically told, How sad, too bad - hardware components fail and theres nothing we are going to do about it. Seriously? This range is just barely 5 years old and has a history of repeated problems with the bake function - obviously, something is defective in this product.I can see it, if I had not had any problems until this point, but when the same issue keeps coming up & obviously has not been correctly diagnosed and repaired, I would think they would have enough integrity to offer some kind of help or solution. Given the history here, its highly unlikely that Im going to be willing to spend big bucks on another attempted repair that, in all likelihood, will be merely a short term band-aid, so Ill probably have to buy another new range - which I cant really afford right now. Trust me, it will not be a Whirlpool & it will not be from Leons.

I am old school & do not like the idea that I cannot open my machine without waiting until it slows to a stop before door will unlock. You do not know what level your water is unless opening door. You are not able to open door & see if you need more detergent. Water softener is the same -- do I need more/less, cant tell. But, the washer performs well & clothes are clean, even dirty jeans/work clothes.

Whirlpool washer Model WGD4815EW1. Bought this washer just about 4 months ago and right away I hated it but was told by people that all the machines had gone to the lid lock and that the government had mandated the energy saving devices on the machines so the machine will only put just a little water in the machine. I have been VERY VERY unhappy with this machine. My husband figured out a way to bypass the lid lock mechanism. Then after washing clothes many times I found out in order to get my clothes clean I had to just set the dial to Bulky every time OR I had to wash the clothes 2 times to get clean if I didnt. Once we bypassed the lid lock and then I figured out where to put the knob so the clothes would come clean I was fine until last week the machine just would NOT wash or do anything... it filled with water and just sat there until my husband got the water out. I located a Speed Queen from an appliance store and I am much happier. It does not have the CRAZY lid lock on it. I realize that some children are apt to mess with the washers. But I dont have children anymore and when I did I had a laundry room with a lock up high on the door so they could not play in the laundry room. I dont understand why this so called mandate could not have been done in a way as to allow those with kids to have the option on the machine with a built in code device to set the machine so the lid will lock and those of us without children in the house to opt out of the code to set the lid lock. NO REASON why we cant have a CHOICE. As far as I see it is a way for the government to try control more where they need to keep out. The cars have been designed with safety locks for children to keep them safe, but it is up to you to choose to use them. Same principle! Now for the mechanism to make it so the machine will only put so much water in the machine to wash. Youre NOT SAVING any ENERGY or WATER if you have to wash the loads twice!! This whole mandated business with the newer washer machines is a huge JOKE on everyone. I will be searching out used machines and having them rebuilt because I dont EVER plan on buying another one of these newer machines. If enough people stop buying them the manufacturing companies can raise some cane with the government to get the mandate lifted. NO I will not buy another Whirlpool washer. I encourage some of you out there who LOVE a challenge to figure a way to change the stupid motherboards on the newer machines and create a great business for yourself because if someone else can create it you can recreate it.

About two months ago the washer starting stopping and the UL light continued to come on during every spin cycle. So I would adjust the clothes and start it again. So I decided that I should call a certified serviceman to come out and access the problem. Today a certified serviceman came out to access the problem. After about twenty minutes I was told the tub needed to be replaced and the cost and labor would be $600 or more. I do realize that the washer is about 8 years old but to completely need a repair like a new tub. I am very upset and have no idea what to do.

Avoid Whirlpool at all cost. I have had the GSS series, which was horrible.
Avoid Whirlpool at all cost. I have had the GSS series, which was horrible. It was declared unfixable by service after 2 weeks of ownership. It was replaced with a similar WP model WS series and was told it was basically identical to the GSS series except for some cosmetic differences (They do look identical and yes, it’s just as horrible as the GSS.). The first one was defective from day 1. It was replaced and assured the next one would be thoroughly checked out prior to delivery. Obviously, nobody did this (was still in box and never opened). The fridge arrived and had the same exact defects as the previous units. Service literally said these were junk and they had nothing but issues with them that they simply cannot fix, and issues Whirlpool is obviously aware of but will not admit to, nor back up their products. Service literally told me to avoid WP at all cost or I will have nothing but non-stop issues and non-stop service calls and the fridge will still not be fixed. I purchased the extended 5 year warranty that clearly states that the fridge will be fixed or replaced if deemed non-repairable. Mine was! Yet, neither Whirlpool nor the retailer will do anything. I was literally told Take it to the dump and go buy a new fridge by both Whirlpool and the retailer. My purchase was less than a year ago. The 3rd fridge has only been here 3 months. They took my $1,500. They took my money for the extended warranty. It has been declared non-repairable, yet Whirlpool’s and the retailer’s response is Too bad, we are keeping your money, not honoring the warranty. We don’t care if it’s non-repairable. Take it to the dump and buy a new one. This is new! The money it cost, the money for extended warranty, the money for lost food, the money for lost wages due to having to be here for repeated service calls, the huge amount of time spent using hair dryers and everything else under the sun (this fridge must be baby sat and monitored pretty much 24/7 due to more issues than I can list). The fact this fridge has taken over my life, with freezer and fridge unusable (totally unusable, it has taken over my life, but I still can’t use it and spend a fortune getting take-out food) is just shocking, but more shocking is the fact neither WP or the retailer (the blue one that starts with an L, ends with an S and competes with HD the orange store) will stand behind the product or the warranty and instead is telling me to flush multi thousands of dollars down the drain and take my new, with extended warranty, to the dump and buy a new one. Calls to both companies only led to more wasted time and frustration.I don’t even see how this can be legal. They happily took my money. They fully explained how I needed the extended warranty in case something like this happens and assured me the extended warranty would protect me in case something goes wrong for 5 full years. They will replace it with a new one if un-repairable. Yet in less than a year, Ive gotten 3 defective ones with the last one only 3 months old with the first service call made on the day after delivery, but I’m supposed to throw all this money down the drain, take my new fully warranted fridge to the dump and buy a new one?!Shocking and not something I can afford to do. If I could afford it, I would get this thing out of my house in a heartbeat and buy something else, but I’m not made of money so this is not an option. Not sure what I can do other than to warn others to avoid Whirlpool and avoid the retailer (L---s). I’m just in shock and to say I’m upset would not even come close to describing my utter disappointment and frustration with both companies and this whole ordeal (never ending nightmare is more appropriate).

Steam cleaning DOES NOT work! I have complained to Home Depot and Whirlpool since my purchase 9/2018. They sent 2 different repair men and both times I was told there was nothing they can do. I got one phone call from Whirlpool (Maytag) and they sent me a cleaner (wish is just for the stovetop). No other return emails or calls have been acknowledged. My stove looks like it hasnt been cleaned EVER! I was also told to use elbow grease. I am so disgusted and at my wits end. Any suggestions, besides court?

Refrigerator caught fire - I own a 2003 Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator that I bought new from Lowes in 2003. On Friday, July 13, 2012, I woke up to the smell of burning wires. I called 911 and they sent out a fire engine. While waiting for the firemen to arrive, my neighbor came to help me determine where the smell was coming from. Within seconds, we heard loud clicks and a huge cloud of gray smoke came out from behind the refrigerator. The firemen arrived, entered the house, unplugged the refrigerator and told me that the smoke and smell was coming from behind the fridge.

I am very disappointed in my Cabrio washer. I have had it for two year and now I have to spend $ 250.00 on a machine that sounds like Im in a machine factory. It is so loud in the spin cycle that you cant hear a TV or radio. Also the lit of the washer broke in the start of the second year. I had my previous washer for 15 years before requiring a service call. I have to agree with all the reviews that this washer should be recalled. Maybe if we all call the media in on this problem Whirlpool will be forced to pay for a recall or repairs. Another case of big business ripping off the consumer.

This is an AMAZING dryer. Probably the best I've ever used. My husband & I live in a mobile home so our main reason for purchase is the fact it is VENTLESS & it's compact. The dryer is so quiet. You can hardly hear it with a tv going. It doesn't take any more time to dry than another modern dryer. The end result are damp clothes, however there is enough steam and heat left in the bin at the end of the cycle to where if you fluff the clothes they'll be dry in a matter of seconds. The dryer acts as a dehumidifier by capturing moisture from the air it uses. All the features are up to date and easy to figure out. It's worked extremely well since we've had it and I'm happy to say we LOVE IT!

The plastic holding the vegetable drawers broke and now they are cracking because nothing is there to hold them in place. This fridge has a freezer on the bottom, which I like. Unfortunately, I had an Amana before this and it was wonderful- just old. I had to settle for a smaller refrigerator and that is part of the problem.

My husband and I, purchased this washer on November last year, I used twice before and I noticed that the clothes felt hot, but the cycle was COLD water. Now use it again until June 2015. In every cycle the clothes were hot, I started calling to get an appointment in June at the 1800-253-1301, but the system was down twice. Then in July then again the system was down, then August 10, system was down. I did not wait more and called back the next day, August 11, got appointment for the 20. A technician came, he told me that the hoses was switched, but I know the hoses was installed correctly, my husband was here at the installation. He knows the proper installation of the washers.

Posted the following review of this oven on the Whirlpool website: How did this get 5 stars with so many complaints? Ive only used this oven once since installed last Sunday. It heated my kitchen up at least 3 degrees. I live in the South so evidently its not meant for southern summers. It does look nice but if Id known the fan blows such hot air out of the bottom, I wouldnt have chosen this one. Afraid if I use the self cleaning cycle, it will burn my hard wood floor. Probably why there are many complaints about uneven cooking and long to preheat since all the heat is blowing out of the bottom. I received an email saying it didnt meet their website guidelines and they wouldnt post it. Interesting?!

Another load of darks with white soap residue splattered across every item. Despite using a soap pod and setting to so-called Deep Water wash. Whirlpool top load WTW5000 is a terrible machine. As in other reviews, constant soap residue and clothes stretched and tangled into a compressed wad with deep wrinkles as you try and untangle them after the wash. Unable to dilute your soap and faking out the machine to get a bit more water are recurrent themes. Just ridiculous. There should be a class action suit for replacement. The customer service is useless and terrible - actually - there is probably nothing they can say and no answer or fix for this horrible machine.

I purchased the Energy Smart Gas Water Heater about a year and a half ago, intending to install right away as part of our upgrades. Just now, I was able to install this replacement to our 30-year-old water heater that was showing problems. When trying to start the unit, I kept getting the response that the lower sensor unit failed. We contacted plumbing companies. We were told they would not work on any Whirlpool models purchased from Lowe’s, because they were the worst hot water heater ever made. I called Whirlpool support. They wouldnt put me through to a tech support person until I was registered in the system. I gave up trying after many minutes of frustration.

I too experience all the other complaints on this site as well, stuff still left on clothes, dry spots, stains not removed after being pretreated etc. I did some research before buying this set and saw some good reviews, dont know who wrote them but obviously they were highly inaccurate. This is my biggest purchase regret ever, as this set cost about $2500, so disappointed.

We have had this Whirlpool Duet WFW9150 washer for 7 years, doing 2-4 loads a week. Overall we are quite satisfied with it. A few complaints: We are on a well, and so get the odd bit of crud in the water. The machine has filters on the inlet lines, but you must pull it out from the wall to get at them. The filters are hard to remove. If something goes wrong--power blip, or sensor something, you have to restart the cycle. There is no way to continue from where you left off. There are features I wish it had: Rinse with warm or hot water, a spin only cycle, And Im in a hurry and it isnt very dirty cycle (Shortest cycle is almost 2 hours). Whirlpool doesnt have a service center for our area. If we need repair we need to take it into town. This is inconvenient.

Technician come on the service day and told me that it is $120.00 for the service call and Labor and parts are extra, first of all $120.00 to come to my house is first rip off, that is the reason Whirlpool on their website do not give any estimates on the service call. After checking the appliance he said main assembly is bad and needs to replace and that will cost more than the original purchase price - what a ripoff. He asked me to contact Whirlpool, they may help since this is the known issue with this model. Called Whirlpool and mentioned and they said it is too old to continue to operate so they cannot help. We called Whirlpool which was no help. Then we called a repair man who told us, “There was a leak in the seal system and it was low on freon. Would have to replace a compressor, evaporator and it would be better and cheaper to just buy a new refrigerator. It has just turned 4 years old. I called Whirlpool again and they said they didnt know why it went bad. I said is it a recall or just a bad refrigerator. The girl was no help at all; I kept asking to talk to a tech and finally asked for their corporate office address which she said was 553 Benson Rd., Benson Harbor, Mich. 49022. Product: Whirlpool Gold Series, Model WRX988SIBM01: Purchased 2014 at Lowes. 2nd day after delivery, called Whirlpool, refrigerator not working properly, freezer drawer will not close, condensation on outside. Sent person that delivered the refrigerator to fix problem, freezer had frozen ice behind each drawer approximately 2 inches that would not allow drawers to close. Delivery person used hair dryer to melt ice and adjusted drawers. Still periodically have to physically remove ice build up to allow drawers in freezer to seal properly. Ice maker stopped working, makes no ice at all, ice comes from inside refrigerator not from freezer, bad design.Today woke up to freezer drawers completely thawed and had to throw away all food, panel shows temperature at -2*. All food thawed and unable to be cooked/used. Called Whirlpool could not send someone until next Tuesday (4 days). We are a family of 5 and cannot wait that long. Unfortunately have called 3 other appliance companies only to find that refrigerator has to be repaired by special technicians! This is our first Whirlpool, bought because made in America, have been very disappointed with our $2500.00 purchase. Not sure that we will ever purchase another Whirlpool product, our inclination will be to buy less expensive product and choose to replace as opposed to paying recurring service calls + parts and labor.

I purchased this dishwasher (whirlpool WDF330PAHW2) in February 2019. Really worked great until May 2020. Now doesnt drain on the last cycle, smells bad (even though cleaned) and door leaks under handle on front. Really too bad. I have been a Whirlpool champion for 25 years. Now not so much.

We purchase a washer and dryer from Lowes in 2012 and a couple months ago I begin to notice that the Clorox and the softener draining spout is not working. The Clorox side is full of water, and the softener half of the time dont even drain all the way and not happy with that. The washer is beginning to rust on the inside by the dispensers, the lid area and the outside panels. I should have purchase GE. I would not recommend this brand to anyone.

I have had a Whirlpool hot water tank now for about 7 years and all I have had out of it is trouble. It wasnt even a year old and I was putting a thermocouple in it a few months later I put another one in it. All I do is put thermocouples in it. I have saved the old ones. This heater is a piece of junk and I am the one whos paying the price for it. I just put a thermocouple in it on January 9, 2012 and I am putting another one in it on January 15, 2012. I have replaced all parts and it still does it. They are going to buy me a new one someday. I’m tired of this. This should not be happening. They are ripping people off. If the pilot light does not light, you have to replace the thermocouple in it.

Refrigerator Model ED5FVGXWSO2 - After owning it for a couple of years, we decided to do a super cleaning and remove all the shelves. When we took the shelves out, I noticed that the plastic support tracks were all cracked. I called and complained to Whirlpool and of course the fridge was out of warranty but heres the good part - The person on the phone asked me Did you put heavy things on the shelves? OMG My response, trying to think of the heaviest thing possible, was, Like milk cartons and juice? She even said There was likely a bad batch of plastic when the shelves were made. I was a big fan of Whirlpool. Great value etc. but I will never buy from them again. Shelves should last the life of the fridge!

It is a really great microwave, but the door is falling off of it. We can still use it, but try to be careful about it. I honestly and truthfully love my whirlpool microwave as well as my whole set of whirl pool appliances. The door is trying to fall off, but we can still use the microwave. If we get another one we will probably get another whirlpool because I love it so much.

Bought microwave two years ago, almost immediately when stove area got warm, the microwave would not work properly. It would beep, the info keypad would cycle, then freeze up. After unplugging and letting it sit for a while, it would work fine for a time. Now it doesnt work properly at all. We keep it unplugged until we need it then it may or may not work. I have had a service company look at it and the only thing they could figure was that was an electronic failure from the heat. I am concerned that it is a fire hazard and leave it unplugged. Not what I expected from a $1000 appliance. I wish there was a class action suit that I could join.

My initial CS complaint is with Whirlpools IVR system, which was far less than a desirable experience. After tricking the system, a CS agent answered promptly but was not able to address my concerns. I asked to speak to a supervisor and received a return call from Chris within minutes. I found Chris to be patient and understanding of my issues. After replacing our competent GE dishwasher with a Samsung dishwasher and having to replace it immediately due to the terrible job it did, we bought a Whirlpool Gold Series (stainless tub) for just under $400. I realize this is the bottom of the stainless tub price point, but we have been so disappointed! The silverware container sites outside the regular tub, and rarely cleans even easy substances to remove, if there are more than a few items in each container. Dishes on the other levels are very hit or miss -- each and every load has to be examined for dirty dishes. Id pull this one out and return it too if it werent such a hassle. Dont buy this product.

If you are in the market for a new refrigerator, STAY AWAY from Whirlpool Top Freezer models. Mine just failed after only 5 years and Whirlpool will NOT do a thing about it, except ask, Did you buy the extended warranty? The compressor in my refrig was made in Mexico by a company called Embraco. I used to work for Whirlpool and these compressors were garbage then, and I guess still are, in my opinion. The 5 year sealed system warranty was removed from these refrig years ago and I can only assume this is why. If you want the 5 year SS warranty, buy a side by side or French door model. Just be sure it doesnt have an Embraco compressor on it! And while I am not a believer in them, planned obsolescence dictates you probably should buy the extended warranty/service plan for such a purchase. Dont rely on positive past experience, even for a company like Whirlpool. Their gold ring of promise emblem is very tarnished for me now.

Its just me and my husband, and we eat out most of the time. So, it wasnt used a lot. I called Whirlpool, and Sherrie could only say that she feels my frustration. No, she doesnt. She has no idea. I just purchased $4000 worth of Whirlpool appliances, and now, I have no idea if they are going to last. It is a piece of junk that I paid good money for. In this day and time, we have to watch what we spend. I think Whirlpool should be a stand-up company and admit to taking our hard-earned money for a piece of junk. I am a very unhappy owner of a Whirlpool Cabrio Model: wtw5640xw0 & matching Dryer. About 4 years ago, my husband chose to replace our 11 year-old Maytag Performa Washer & Dryer instead of fixing a part that needed to be replaced in the Washer. I was upset with the very first load of laundry in the Cabrio and I was extra upset that my husband had junked my perfectly awesome working Performa Dryer. )-: First of all, the Cabrio set is Extremely LOUD! Secondly, I often have to wash loads more than once because they do not get clean the first time. Next, the Washer is Always knocked off balance. Ive resorted to using the settings on the Washer with the low spin every time, no matter how light the load. And, now there is something wrong with the lid lock mechanism (which has always sucked anyway), but this is a new problem... I was just checking on the internet to try to figure it out when I stopped to write this review. The lid will not lock & the lid lock light wont go off, so the Washer wont do anything at all! I can not express enough what a piece of junk this Washer is & Im never going to allow my husband (who doesnt even do the laundry) to choose my Washer & Dryer again!

My 15 year old front loader quit working and was going to cost more to repair than we thought was worth it. So, we went shopping at Home Depot and based on discussions with salespeople ended up with the Whirlpool cabrio toploader. What a mistake. I am so disgusted with this washer I dont even know where to start. If there was any way we could return it we would do so. The clothes come out wrinkled, twisted, absolutely covered in pet hair and detergent and fabric softener residue. Yes, Im using HE detergent, in the correct amounts. Yes, Ive read the manual front to back. Yes, Ive tried all the troubleshooting suggestions. No, they dont make a damn bit of difference.I would give anything to have my old front loader back. It was a great little machine that did a wonderful job of cleaning our laundry. Pet hair was washed off, I could lay things out to dry and they werent all wrinkly and did not require ironing. Just about everything that comes out of this cabrio machine that I lay to dry needs to be ironed before it can be worn. It is just a horrible, horrible machine and Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for foisting this off on unsuspecting consumers.

Purchased heavy duty dual steam washer and dryer in 2008. Recently got some error codes that we could not fix. Had one service company come in and they could not figure it out. Had a certified Whirlpool company come in and they could not figure it out. They called Whirlpool technicians and they were even unsure of what is wrong. Said they could keep ordering parts and trying them to fix the problem. And of course I would be responsible for the parts. And no guarantee it would be solve the problem. Called Whirlpool direct, to no satisfaction. They said they could send the same company out and have them call the tech line while on site and try to troubleshoot the problem. However, would have to wait another 3 days to get him out. Been a week without washer. I have had washers bought previously last over 10 years without any problems. If these machines are breaking or control boards are going out after about 4 years, then Whirlpool has a bigger problem. Whirlpool supervisor was only offering to maybe a discount on the parts needed, without even knowing if they could fix the problem. Seems to me like they really dont care. Very dissatisfied, will definitely not recommend this product to anyone. And if it ever gets fixed, I am going to sell them immediately.

I had my kitchen remodeled and purchased a Whirlpool built in electric microwave and lower oven combo (Models WOC54E and WOC95E). I selected this product because it had the right dimensions for my kitchen and I thought Whirlpool was a quality brand. Well I was completely incorrect about the latter point. Within just a few months, I noticed a drip line in the microwave door, between the outer and inner panel that could not be accessed to clean. I barely used the appliance and had no explosions in the unit that would account for this unsightly stain. When I called Whirlpool, they told me that cleaning and resealing the microwave door was not covered by warranty, and if I fixed the problem, then I would invalidate the warranty on the appliance. I had no choice but to live with this drip line, which has now been joined by others. I can think only that this is caused by condensation and that the door is permeable to moisture. Then there is the oven: When it is in use and for at least 30 min after, the fan on the unit is deafening. Not just a little noisy, but really loud. This is my first experience with Whirlpool and its products, and I would NEVER purchase others. They are not inexpensive and are clearly of substandard quality. The fact that Whirlpool is prepared to put a defective product on the market and then not be prepared to fix problems with the unit is appalling. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL.

I am very upset about this Washing Machine and Dryer. I did my research in 2012 and found good reviews on drum size, water usage, bells and whistles. I purchased the set in Feb of 2013 (its on Jan of 2017). NOT EVEN 3 years later, I write to say that my washing Machine is ready for replacement! I paid 989.00 for each and last year the Spring on the Glass Top was worn away, I am told because bleach was splashing up in the spring area. Cost to fix with a local repairman... $235.00. Now I noticed a small amount of water on the floor, move the washer and there is a LARGE amount of water Stain and my cycles keep popping up UL. Two separate repairmen (because I didnt believe my trusted first one) tell me the cost for the shot bearings and seals will cost almost as much as a new washer! I am a family of 3. I have a daycare so do a few extra loads, but am not using this any more than average to low use. Not to mention that on top of all of this the computer appears to be shorting out and to order a new panel the repairman places that at an EXTRA 300.00. SO UPSET! The dryer dries very nicely and is quiet however, the motor went out 6 months ago and we replaced that, not wanting to but better fix than scrapping it only 3 years into a product expected to last well over 10! The little clip on the door to lock it is also loose and hardly locks now. The repairman is having trouble even finding the small part. Young Couple Expecting to have a brand new 1900.00 washer dryer set last a long time only to be out of warranty and already needing to buy a new set! DONT EVER BUY A CABRIO WHIRLPOOL.

WHIRLPOOL MICROWAVE HAS HAD MAGNETRON GO BAD 3 TIMES IN 1-1/2 YRS! I bought a Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combo Oct 2009. July 2010 the magnetron went in it! December 2010 the magnetron went in it AGAIN! This time we had to pay the labor to have it repaired because it was 2 months outside the warranty period. We did not want to pay because we knew having the same part go twice in one year that something is wrong with it. Whirlpool told us that if it happened a 3rd time that they would most likely replace the appliance for us. Well....July 2011 the magnetron went AGAIN for the 3rd time! Whirlpool told us to take it to a licensed shop to have it diagnosed to prove that it was the same part as the previous two times, fax paperwork from the prior two times, and have the shop call in the diagnosis of the 3rd time. We did all that, and they told us they wouldnt do ANYTHING for us because it was outside of the warranty period! Well they knew that when they told us we had an opportunity to get it replaced! THE SAME PART WENT BAD 3 TIMES IN A 1-1/2 YR PERIOD OF TIME. We trusted that the Whirlpool representatives were being honest with us during those phone conversations. Whirlpool can not explain why representatives would give us hope of a replacement (although each conversation is documented by their login and employee ID number). So not only did I buy a brand new MSRP $619 microwave, I paid to have it repaired the 2nd time, and to have it diagnosed the 3rd time, uninstalled and reinstalled the microwave each time, the inconvenience of not having use of the appliance during each occurance, and the unbearable suffering of calling in to customer service and repeating the story over and over to each representative. My house is brand new (we moved in to it November 2009); we bought ALL our appliances from Whirlpool. All I get for an answer now is sorry. That doesnt help me any financially having to repair and now replace an appliance that has been in use for only 1-1/2 yrs! I have seen $39 microwaves from WalMart last several years, so what is wrong with Whirlpools manufacturing?! Customer Service is unreliable, untrustworthy, non-sympathetic, and insanely frustrating! My question for Whirlpool is...why cant you make a product that lasts better (better quality=longer life=healthier environment and happier customers)? Why cant you stand behind your products better? Dont you care about the impact youre making on us emotionally, financially, and environmentally? The model # is GMH6185XVS0 Serial # is TRY3111264.

I purchased a new Whirlpool top load washer and dryer in 2012. I heard all kinds of crazy stories about all the new machines, so I tried to stay with the regular top load style. About 6 months ago my machine seems to have lost its mind! I tried unplugging it, but thats just a temporary fix, it goes right back to its antics! I had my last washer and dryer for over 12 years. I purchased 5 Whirlpool appliances when I remodelled my kitchen and am extremely disappointed with the quality and ability of them. The self-cleaning range (this phrase is a joke) has proven to be useless. I followed the cleaning direction according to the manufacturers direction even using the distilled water as indicated. Purchased this Whirlpool refrigerator WRT771REYM at Home Depot in June 2014. Within a few months of purchase, had to call for a repair tech because the water line had frozen. Tech unfroze it and told us not to block the air vents to avoid this happening again. The amount of care we have to take to load this fridge so as not to have the water line freeze is ridiculous. Its very picky. For a while, we were still having to unfreeze the line every couple of months. Then it became more and more frequent, to the point where we cant keep it unfrozen for more than a few hours. This seems like shoddy design to me. And of course, the warranty is expired so I am out of luck unless I want to pay for repairs out of pocket.Adding insult to injury, Whirlpool claims that this isnt a common issue. Not true - there are numerous reviews about this very issue on Amazon, Sears, Home Depot, etc. Just try googling the model #. Sad that Whirlpool does not stand behind its products. I purchased a Whirlpool washing machine from PC Richards in Lake Grove 15 months ago. I paid $590.00. I had to call PC Richards back because it sounded like the machine was not spinning right. The servicemen came back and said nothing was wrong. It was supposed to sound like that. Now the machine stopped draining and spinning. I went to the store and they handed me customer service numbers and said they could not help me. I contacted Whirlpool online and received a phone call from a woman that gave me a lesson on how to load the machine and put soap in it! She was a very polite woman, but, gee, that didn’t solve my problem. After 4 days I was able to get through by phone and was told to call service. I contacted Mahler Appliance. He looked at it and said he couldn’t fix it and took a check for $81.47. He told me to call Whirlpool. I called Whirlpool again and got their service people. The gentleman came and could not figure out what was wrong. He tried a few things and said it was probably the main board. He said to call Whirlpool, but they most likely won’t give me back my money. He could charge me $460.00 for a new board per his supervisor. I just paid $590.00 for the machine and another $87.00 to some guy who took advantage. He left with an $87.00 check and I still have a broken washer. He did tighten up a loose wire he said he found and told me to try it and good luck. So I tried it. I put clothes in and turned it on.I came back about 20 minutes later to see if it continued to run and I slipped and fell on the ceramic floor because water drained out from somewhere and went all over my floor. I have injured my back and elbow from hitting the hard floor. I also have water all over the place and finally a very broken defective washer. I am angry. I hurt myself and have spent close to $1000.00 and I still have no working washer and no way to buy another one. The washer is 15 months old. That’s brand new to me. There was obviously a problem from the beginning. Whirlpool has always had a quality name for years. I would hope that they would stand by their product and fix my washer for me. It is obviously defective.

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet washer in Jan. 2011 and there has been 3 problems. There has been water leaking, loud/banging noises during the spin cycle, and torn clothing. Technicians have visited 4 times in 7 months. At this point, I forsee more problems in the future. I spoke to a supervisor at Whirlpool and I asked if the washer could be exchanged. I was told, If it is repairable then we will continue to repair it. I was also told that I could purchase an additional 1 or 2 year warranty. A comment like that makes me believe that the company foresees problems in the future as well. A company like Whirlpool should realize that customers should not have to spend time leaving work early or taking off to meet with a technician about an appliance so often or at all! I have owned a washer in the past but it was left when we sold the home and I never experienced any problems!

This Whirlpool Water heater was purchased through Lowes on March 29, 2011. This past weekend, water started leaking out of the thermostat/natural gas control located on the side of the tank. I called a plumber to take a look. He stated that a new thermostat/natural gas control was needed. Although the tank has a 12 year warranty, this item does not. Whirlpool did agree to replace the part but would charge me $30 to overnight the item which still would have taken 4 days because of a weekend. To install the item would have cost me almost $500.00.To purchase a new Rheem Water heater was $999. I chose the second choice as the first choice would have still left me with a subpar water heater obviously already out of warranty. The reason for my review is that I saw the number of complaints on the failure of this part. When I purchased this water heater, it was the better model due to the 12 year tank warranty. What use is the tank warranty when the other items dont last? There should be some type of reimbursement but Im not holding my breath. Please buy a contractor grade water heater and not the cheaper models.

We have recently retired and moved into a smaller home. The kitchen needed to be furnished with all of the normal appliances. We bought two Whirlpool products, a refrigerator and trash compactor. Since we are living on a fixed budget, I was hoping that the furnishings that were bought would last as long as our past appliances did. However, our brand new refrigerator after two and a half years needed to have a new light installed. We called Whirlpool and set up for a repair. The repair was $290.00. We paid the repair man working for Whirlpool, then called Whirlpool and asked if there was anything they could do to help with the cost. They suggested that we buy a protection plan. Both of the refrigerators we have owned during the past fifty years lasted twenty plus years. This one only went two and a half before having to be serviced.Whirlpools answer to my request of helping out with this $290 service call was Sorry, you should have bought a service plan. I wish I would have gone with either of the same brands that we had in the past. Those being, Sears and Sub-Zero. I would suggest that those of you who are contemplating buying a kitchen appliance, choose a company that has a product that will go more than two and a half years without having to be serviced. Neither of the other refrigerators that we had ever had to be serviced. They stayed with the houses we sold.

Now two months ago the ice maker dispenser through the door quit working. I replaced the auger motor and that didnt help. Now the parts department says the actuator panels are no longer available. This is planned obsolescence to the Nth degree. No support for a major appliance less than 3 years old. Whirlpool SUCKS!!!

Purchased this refrigerator, Model # WRS965CIAH on October 3, 2014. Paid extra for counter depth. Initially the refrigerator worked fine. After about 9 months we noticed the food in the back of the refrigerator especially on the top shelf started freezing. This started getting worse over the next 2 months. When I called Whirlpool 10/19/2015, 800-253-1301, I was told by their representative that this was normal, that air from the freezer blows into the refrigerator through vents and to just re-arrange my food so that it is not pushed to the back of the refrigerator. I asked him if this was normal why wasnt this happening in the first few months but only developed later? He had no answer. I asked him if it made sense if this was normal then everyone who buys this refrigerator has to make sure their food is not pushed to the back of the unit, then why dont they state that in the directions for use??? Ok everyone make sure every day you push all your food to the front of the unit so it doesnt freeze ridiculous. He just said thats the best thing to do. I asked him if I could talk to a technician, if maybe there was a way to fix it manually and he said there were no technicians there. I asked him if he knew about the lemon law and he said they dont have that there... ok. The refrigerator is just days after the 1 year purchase so he basically said just to call where I purchased it that Whirlpool could do nothing for me. Is this how Whirlpool trains their employees??? Good job Whirlpool, way to go. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty. Will see how the repair goes and report back. Did not call sooner due to health issues. Its not like the refrigerator is years old and started to break down - this is within a year. Whirlpool doesnt care about quality. Will never buy Whirlpool again and will spread the word as often as I can.

I bought a matched set of Whirlpool washer and dryer. Within about 3 months the dryer quit running on any of its cycles except heavy duty. About a month after that the washer started messing up. First it quit putting in the bleach. Next it quit adding water except under the heavy duty cycle. Then after about another week or so it quit putting in fabric softener. After a couple of more months it only uses hot water. Now not quite a year after I purchased it the washer now only adds water in the wash mode and not the rinse cycle. Now all this would not be a problem except I had lost the warranty cards and in their website would not let me register it online.

I have owned a French-door Whirlpool/Kenmore refrigerator for less than 3 years & all the lights start flashing fast when you open the doors. Anyone that knows anything about seizures know this can set one off. Turns out its a common problem with the LED lights & you have to replace circuit board at over $100.00 for the part, plus you may have to have it installed. Best to stick with a $0.99 bulb you replace every 5 years.

My comments are similar to all the other comments on here regarding the Whirlpool Cabrio washer: I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio 5 years ago and have been sorry every wash day since. I have to wash my clothes twice because the machine doesnt fill the tub with enough water to get the clothes clean. I have tried using the bulky setting for all loads to try to get the water level high enough to at least cover the clothes. This is a terrible design and the worst piece of junk. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again...

We have never had problems with our old Kenmore appliances. Since we have had the Whirlpool complete set we have had problems with both the Refrigerator and now the Stove. The fridge had already been re-engineered by the time the repair man got here but the fix didnt work. We had a 50 degree refrigerator for over a month. Now the stove wont keep a constant temperature so we wait for the service man once again. They look beautiful but they are the worst we have owned over our 36 years. They obviously have engineering issues looking at all the other reviews. I dont see us purchasing another Whirlpool appliance in the future.

On August 16, 2016 I received delivery of an Whirlpool under counter refrigerator that I ordered online from Home Depot. Model # WUR50X24EM. Five months later, on January 10, 2017, it stopped working, I called Whirlpool for repair. They referred me to their service company, I called the service company the same day. They had a repairman out on the following Tuesday, 1/17/17. The repairman said that he will need to contact Whirlpool to order a part. Whirlpool sent him the wrong part. After numerous phone calls no one from Whirlpool could figure out the correct part number. The repairman kept sending over pictures and information on the correct part, but this all went nowhere with Whirlpool. On 2/7/17, I called and started yelling. I had been very patient up to this point. I was finally offered by Whirlpool a parts research to determine exactly which part was needed. Plus a $50 Visa card to appease me. At this point, its been four weeks without a refrigerator and no one from Whirlpool has put any effort towards trying to figure out the correct part. On 2/16/17, I called Whirlpool again to find out if they had found the correct part. They told me that the new part had been sent to the service company and Whirlpool scheduled me an appointment right then for Monday, 2/20/17.So today is 2/20/17, the repairman came and went, Whirlpool once again failed, they lied because the repairman came out with the wrong part that was originally sent to him when he ordered the part back on 1/17/17. I called Whirlpool and asked for a manager. They connected me with the Resolution Specialist. I told her everything and pointed out that it has been six weeks without a refrigerator. She said she will take care of it and get the right part ordered. I asked her how long I should have to wait, cause at this point I have waited long enough. She said she will have an answer by the end of this week. I dont believe her, I feel as though Whirlpool is pacifying me. I dont understand why they cant order the correct part.I have no faith in Whirlpool that they will do the right thing or have any understanding on how inconvenienced they have made me. I have no faith to the point that I ordered another refrigerator from a different manufacturer. It will be here tomorrow between 8am-12pm. Oh, and Home Depot, they washed their hands of this a long time ago. And, I have yet to see the $50 Visa Card.

My story begins in August of this year when my wife and I built a new home. The builder provided Whirlpool appliances in the kitchen. The fridge has continually tripped the breaker and after numerous visits from the builders electrician, we finally also had the Whirlpool service technician check out the fridge too. After the control board was replaced, and the interior light housing was replaced, it turns out the wiring harness in the fridge is faulty and is not repairable. According to your customer service team, the fridge will need to be exchanged. I have made numerous calls to the suggested numbers (866-698-2538 & 800-253-1301) to find out the status of the exchange. Each time, I have been told that my file is with the review team, and that if I have not heard from them in the next three or four days, that I should call back again. I have not been able to contact the review team directly myself, as your customer service team is either unable to or is not allowed to share those contact details. So I am relegated to wait and then call back again. I have lost track of the number of calls I have made, and the hours spent on hold because of the high volume of calls or re-telling the whole story. The fridge was determined to not be repairable on November 19th. I am not sure if this is the treatment you intend for your customers, or if this is an anomaly.

My husband and I have been loyal Whirlpool consumers for over thirty years.
My husband and I have been loyal Whirlpool consumers for over thirty years. When it came time to purchase a new refrigerator, we purchased the GC3SHAXVY00 model. It was quite expensive but we decided to splurge. This was the worst mistake. Let me also state that we have had the refrigerator now for maybe 5 years. Within the first 6 months, the door that is the central operating system for the appliance went out. The appliance was still under warranty at that time, so Whirlpool ordered a new door. The technician replaced the door and left. However, within 15 minutes of the new door being replaced, the entire refrigerator began to shut down, not just the freezer. Fortunately, we had the techs cell and we called him and he came back and put the old door on until he could order another new door. That made three doors in the first 6 months of us owning the appliance. Then, the ice maker started freezing up. We were told just to defrost the ice maker once a month, that this was a problem the company was experiencing with this 500-dollar refrigerator. Then, the water line started freezing so we would have to leave the freezer door open for about half an hour every week to get the line to thaw so that we could get the water to come out of the dispenser. Now, the ice maker has quit completely. Are we going to call a whirlpool tech? NO, what for? This refrigerator has been a true lemon from day one. I have three more Whirlpool appliances that have broken down within 6 weeks of purchasing them. It was time to replace our appliances so we thought we would support our local economy by purchasing Whirlpool. To say the least, that will never happen again. I will be replacing all my appliances with LG from this day forward.

Our newly renovated condo came with a Whirlpool washer/dryer, and its been a nightmare. Not only has the unit destroyed 5-6 items of clothing, but weve had to have two repairmen out to remove socks that were sucked into the drainage pipe. On top of all of that, the customer service has been terrible - their hours are very limited, and theres nothing the call center employees can do beyond sending a tech out to look at your appliance for a cool $175. All this for a machine that was purchase new in June 2014! We will never buy a Whirlpool product again. Sad example of why American manufacturing has so thoroughly declined.

Purchased side-by-side model fridge, and within a month, the ice-maker froze up. Within a year, the relay switch failed, and caused the compressor to fail. What a lemon. Also, the clear bins in the door of the fridge side, have all cracked. Whirlpool says it is a cosmetic issue, but I think it is hazard and a material processing failure during their manufacturing process. They obviously would not cover any cosmetic issues under the warranty.I was one of the lucky ones, at this point, as the repairs were under warranty (expensive compressor, only by one week), had to buy an extended warranty to cover me in the future. My Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5550xw0 has had many problems. It started with the lid lock error, replaced it, lasted about 2 weeks, and got another one. I did the diagnostic test that pointed me to the actuator, replaced it. It worked for 2 weeks, got another one, and then another one. I was getting a bad reading from the control panel, replaced it, and that worked for a while. I found out that the actuator had a little water drops on it. I figured that it must be the tub seal, so I replaced it. That lasted about a week and a half, and it started dripping again. Now, I figured it is that the transmission has bad bearings, that causes my tub seal to leak, that causes water drips to go onto my actuator, causing a failure in that, which can give me all kinds of bad readings on the diagnostic test. I have replaced at least half the cost of the original purchase price on a year and a half old washer. I also bought my son a Whirlpool Cabrio washer a few months before I bought mine, and he hasnt had a single problem.

Whirlpool and their extended warranty is a ripoff! I bought a Whirlpool refrigerator not even two years ago. It has stopped working 4 or 5 times, causing us to lose all our food. When it is working, it makes an awful noise. I have renewed my contract with A&E due to the fact that the frig is a lemon; which A&E is a joke as well. I contacted them 2 weeks ago about the frig not working again. They stated they could not come until Sept 18th, a month later. Come on. Really. They are a ripoff as well as Whirlpool appliances. False advertising is against the law. I also contacted the merchant where the frig was purchased in Hazlehurst GA, who does not care one way or the other. If whirlpool was as great as they seem to think their appliances are, they would replace this lemon in my kitchen. We are elderly and are not able to keep dealing with this issue. I would never ever recommend a Whirlpool appliance to anyone. As a matter of fact, I will tell everyone I know not to purchase one; due to the way your company has treated me and my wife.

I had whirlpool microwave model # WMH32517AS-2 that came with my new home in March of 2013. In September of 2013, we noticed there were times that the microwave failed to warm the food or liquids (coffee) sometimes at all. Then we figured out that we could hear the noise it makes when it actually warms the food. So after a repair man came out and saw the issue of not warming up, he replaced many parts but within a day we experienced the same issue. Whirlpool had a different repair man come out and replace additional parts hoping it would fix the issue but unfortunately, it did not. Whirlpool said they would send another microwave to us in January of 2014 but now its April 2014 and nothing sent and I have a broken microwave in my house. Due to the length of time it has been, I had to submit this. We have also called customer service on 5 occasions (who have these call documented) and the person that was supposedly helping us and assigned to our case 7 times with no response. We have attempted to talk to a supervisor but were told that I could not, which is unusual. Its just frustrating that this is happening.

Whirlpool and Sears better take their head out of their bum before the completely decimate their customer base. Why arent these problems being fairly addressed? It says a lot that your original warranty is only a year and any additional warranty is cost prohibiting. Four months after purchasing an $1,800 stainless French door fridge it began to not cool even though it was running. I called and was on hold for 45 minutes, then transferred to a different service company that could only come 3 days later. They were here a total of 3 times and each time they could not fix it. It would run for a few days or weeks then die again. Each time I lost a few hundred dollars in food. Each time I was on the phone for almost an hour, and each time it was days later before they would come. Whirlpool refused to refund or swap out the unit. I would have been stuck if it were not for Home Depot finally agreeing to exchange it for an LG.I have never been so upset with any companies customer service in my 45 yrs. The only reason that I am writing this is because my Sony 65 TV died the other day. It was 6 months old and I called Sony. They answered within four minutes and quickly decided to exchange it for a new one and extend my warranty for 2 additional years. There are still decent companies out there. Purchased this French door fridge with the freezer on the bottom in September 2017. Started having problems shortly after with the freezer not auto defrosting/ice damming on the evaporator unit in the freezer unit, which caused the fridge to warm up and food to spoil. Service came out several times and ultimately replaced the Jazz board 3 times, 2 harnesses in freezer, 1 Heater and the evaporator fan motor, with the same problem happening after a few weeks. Requested a replacement after the 3rd visit, but Whirlpool refused to back up their product. Sent service a few more times to no avail. Demanded a replacement once again. They sent a new service company out 15 months after our original purchase and they FINALLY deemed it non-repairable and are FINALLY going to replace it (turned out to be a broken wire inside the walls of the fridge, likely was like that upon delivery). So now we will have been put out for a total of 16 months for a fridge that cost >$1000. If Im spending that on an appliance I expect it to work properly or else be fixed/replaced in a TIMELY fashion. And the best part: they refuse to compensate us for any of the food that was lost due to a faulty product and very poor customer service! That was a lot of money lost because of their incompetence. If they had just replaced the broken appliance in the first place I would have been satisfied. But since they refused to do anything beneficial to remedy the situation, I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool appliance again. And add in the inconvenience of scheduling a time to be home for multiple visits to greet the repairman. Oh yeah, plus our time wasted defrosting our frost-free fridge with a blow dryer to buy us time until it got repaired. Buyer beware!
