In October 2009, I purchased a Whirlpool Energy smart gas water heater with flame lock safety system.$509.00 I had it installed on 5/4/2009 by Westmoreland Affordable Plumbing, $218.00. On 10/15 called Whirlpool stating that the upper thermistor was coding as a failure. They sent me another one to replace it on 10/19/2009. On 10/19/2009, 1 and 1/2 hours later, the tank was coding a bad gas valve, called back and told Whirlpool what had happened and that I smelled gas. I shut off the gas to the water heater and waited for a valve replacement to arrive. On 10/21/2009 I had E.H. Plumbing to install the new gas valve to the water heater, $150.00. On 10/28/2009 the new gas valve went bad. I contacted Whirlpool and argued with them until I had them replace the hot water tank. With their approval I went to Lowes and tried to get the same water tank but they no longer sold that model anymore. I was given their equivalent to the one I had purchased earlier. I had it installed on 10/29/2009, $150.00. I now see a class action suit was filed against Whirlpool for the model in 2008. They were still selling this model after the lawsuit???? I spent $1027.00 for a $509 hot water tank and a lot a days without any hot water. I have all my receipts and returned codes for this transaction. Is it possible to get my $300.00 back (for two extra installations) as a result of this problem? I also kept the old gas valve thermostat.

My new washer is very inefficient. Clothes do not come clean and come out very wet. The cold water only rinse is not an environmental feature... clothes come out so wrinkled that instead of hanging them to dry as I used to (after shaking out the few wrinkles from a warm water rinse in the old washer) I now have use the dryer. This makes no sense to me... I wish I had spent half of the price of this new washer and had the old one repaired... at least then my clothes would come out clean.

I had an upscale Frigidaire suite of kitchen appliances and I loved them. A few years later I moved and needed a new set. I thought Whirlpool was about the same and I bought a Whirlpool set. The stove wont boil water or even fry an egg. It heats up and cuts off continuously. I called a service rep out and he called the engineer who told him it is designed like that and I need to use hot water on the stove to boil it. I was shocked at his ignorance and insulted by his stupidity. Ive been cooking for 60+ years and everyone who cooks knows you use cold water to boil water. But really, the stove does not cook anything. When frying eggs the burners cut off every few seconds to the point you cannot cook anything with it and the engineer said thats the way they designed it. DONT BUY WHIRLPOOL. THEY WONT EVEN BOIL WATER. HORRIBLE STOVE AND ONCE YOU HAVE IT YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT.

I purchased a refrigerator 7 yrs ago. I paid over $1800 on sale for it. Now it needs repairs, it already cost me $89 just to have the tech look at it and he said it will cost $300 to $500 to fix it on top of the service call and now he informs me that it will take at the very least until February or March before he gets the part. I contacted Whirlpool and they told me there is nothing they can do, just to work the tech and I said so Im supposed to go without a fridge for 3 months and was told sorry for the inconvenience. So Im thinking they sell me their product, take my money, then brush me off when I ask for help. That is piss poor way to do business.

I bought a new Whirlpool fridge that has been a piece of junk since the day I bought it. The minute the warranty expired. The thing broke down. The corporate service center was a joke. 15 min wait time just to get through. Then a runaround of misinformed referral numbers. Minimum charge $200/30 min just to have a service rep even look at it. And then $100/hour + parts after that. Highway robbery. My doctor doesn’t even charge me that much. I will never buy a piece of junk WP product ever again. Their customer service is rude and non-existent. The company does not stand behind its products. Don’t buy!

I purchased my Cabrio washer and dryer 2 1/2 years ago, and for the past 6 months, I have dealt with it being unbalanced and I tried everything to get it balanced. When I researched the problems, I found so many other consumers are having the same problems and that Whirlpool will do nothing about it. I decided to start a petition on Change website to try to force Whirlpool to stand behind their product and correct the problem, offer us a refund or another product, or even fix the darn thing. It is tough economic times, and we spent money to have something that was energy-efficient as well as a product that is supposed to carry a good name. I am a single mother with three children, and I dont have a $1000.00 to throw away after 2 years. This is shameful that we, the consumers, have to deal with this. Please go to the Change website and sign my petition. The more signatures I get, the more leverage we have to deal with Whirlpool. Lets pull together and show Whirlpool we will not stand for them robbing us of a quality product. Thank you so very much.

I bought a Whirlpool 3.4 Cu Ft. Top Load Washer, Model: WTW4800XQ on Sunday. Today is Tuesday morning, but the machine broke last night. It lasted for about 5 loads and they were not big loads, unbalanced, and yes I had the right amount of soap. Whirlpool is saying that I washed something that was not machine washable. However, that is simply not true. I washed the bathroom rugs (which have been washed many times before) and they are saying the pump is clogged. If I had a washing machine 48 hours ago, do I really have to pay a service repairman to fix it? I will never buy any Whirlpool product again.

I stumbled across this page on another mission and had to stop to add my exp. Perhaps I got lucky and got a good set but Im on my 3rd year and my washer and dryer are my friends. I dont have hot water connected to my washer and my husband is a shingle roofer so I often have to wash his clothes twice but my dogs beds come out beautiful and the sanitizer on the dryer removes odors very well. My water bill went down, I can wash my rugs and large comforters at home now. Plus they are so pretty. Im sorry you are all having so much trouble but I love mine sooo much I just had to stop a moment to throw in a little positive.

We decided to upgrade to the Whirlpool Cabrio Elite set after 20 years of having the same washer and dryer. Yes, they were still working after 20 years, but we wanted the bigger and better and shinier appliances when we bought our new house. The dryer is fine. Dries a load in 38 minutes. The washer is a regular POS that never should have been put on the market. The best thing about this washer is that it has a transparent lid that allows you to watch your laundry getting dirtier as it washes. Its less than a year old so I havent had the problems with the bearings and such yet, but as far as cleaning, it DOES NOT DO THE JOB! My blacks have white residue on them EVERY SINGLE time I wash them. I end up washing/rinsing/rinsing my darks which definitely defeats the save water function. A regular load takes an hour to wash, and then another hour to rewash, which definitely isnt time saving. My whites are grey and often come out with the same dirt on them as they had going in. Im talking about dirt that you can scrape off with your fingernail, which tells me that they arent even getting wet, nevermind washed. The large capacity is a myth, since-- as per instructions--you can only line the dirty clothes around the centre hub without covering the little silver bump in the centre, or else the clothes wont come clean. This wastes a large amount of capacity. In a nutshell, your darks will come out dirtier, your whites will come out dingier, you waste more water from rewashing, you waste more time and electricity due to long wash cycle and rewashing. I will never buy another Whirlpool ANYTHING again.

I was very excited when Melanie from Whirlpool customer service called me back about my complaint. WHAT A JOKE! I thought she was going to offer at least a repair considering by her own admission this same problem with my control panel of my double oven happened just last May (dead for the third time). Instead she offered me 15 to 30% off a new product if I bought it in the next 30 days! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?The first time the control panel died was when I used the self-cleaning feature. The oven never turned on again. Cost me hundreds. I have been afraid to use the self-clean feature ever since. The second time was in May and is no longer under warranty? Again it cost me hundreds!! Now I am supposed to be happy with 15% off another one of your products? Why would I have any faith in any of your products? I have since found out that Whirlpool has had so many problems with this model - they have quit making it. The repair man says Whirlpool cant make the control panels fast enough to keep up with all the repairs but this is still not under warranty - how about a recall? Do you guys stand by your products at all?

At least 3 of these years we have had to pay someone to fix this for us until we learned to do it on our own. Our just over 1 year old Whirlpool washer died completely last month (mid May). After calling them and being directed to the extended warranty dept (which we ended up purchasing), a repair guy came out and told us it was our main controller board. Three days later, he returned with the board and nothing. We were then told it was the user interface. They were on backorder until June 5, which means our machine would be out of commission for three weeks. I just received another call informing us the part was now on backorder until June 15. Whirlpool, on what planet is it acceptable for your appliances to be out of commission for six full weeks? Never again.

I absolutely hate this Cabrio machine. This should be off the market. Shame on them for selling this. Salesman sold me a bill of goods on this washer and dryer. I have to wash some clothes 3x or hand wash. Whirlpool told me to use bulky or delicate cycles, as this puts more water into the machine so my clothes will rinse clean (doesnt work). It was horrible! I paid $568 for a Whirlpool dishwasher from Lowes in 3/09. The Clean light flashed, then stopped and flashed again. I didnt buy an extended warranty, because I felt Whirlpool was a great company. I had A&E Factory Service come for a service call, paying $70 later w/ tax, only to find out that the heater is no longer working. It would cost $216 to fix it, and we had to remove the dishwasher. Why bother for the total of Todays service call and the repair, when I could buy a new dishwasher? It cost $568, and it lasted a little over 2 years! It was horrible. Theres no warranty and no help from Whirlpool, because I didnt buy a warranty. Guess, my dishes will air dry, and I might as well do them myself!

I purchased a washer and dryer set, the Cabrio Platinum Series WTW8500BRO, about 3 years ago. I had a UL code come up a year ago and the machine was serviced and all was back to normal. Then only 9 months later it started acting up again. This time it sounds like an airplane taking off and there is a black spatter leaking from underneath, also the lid lock stopped engaging. I started to look up the error code for the lid lock and while reviewing that issue it was an easy fix, however, the noise and black spatter issue led me to tons of horrible reviews about this product. It is a bearing/tub/shaft issue that is going to cost me $500 to fix. First off I did not pay cash for this set, I rented it for 3 years and paid twice what it’s worth, around $4,000. Stupid on my part but I couldn’t afford it the other way. Weekly payments were easier. Now I am scared to fix this product because of all the reviews I’ve seen from other consumers. I haven’t had the other issues like dirty clothes, not enough water, high cycle times because they all start with a high number but after it configured the load the time shrinks, but this major issue about the bearings, they say I have to replace the entire tub assembly which is half the cost of the unit. So stupid and I cannot believe Whirlpool is getting away with this crap. Please please please inform me about any lawsuits. I will gladly participate in that. They should be held accountable for such a worthless piece of junk. Like I said I am now afraid to fix this machine because from what I’m reading, more than likely it will only last a short time.

I purchased a whirlpool under counter oven - my main reason for not buying something cheap was the safety of my family - I chose the AKZM656 eye level oven. The stove is about two years old, but we do not use it that much. Two days ago my wife set the timer and placed a dish in for cooking; she then went outside to water the garden. About twenty minutes later she returned as something was burning- the oven reached a temperature of 350 degrees and would have burnt the whole kitchen down if she did not spot it. Now surely the oven should be designed to switch off if sensors fail? I reported this to Hirsch (Ballito) but they say they have no one servicing the Richards Bay area. I am not sure if this stove should be fixed as it is obviously not safe and makes me wonder how Whirlpool get safety standards passed on these items. Surely you expect better when buying a well-known whirlpool brand?

My new Whirlpool refrigerator has accumulated ice on the top of the freezer
My new Whirlpool refrigerator has accumulated ice on the top of the freezer compartment from day 1. I called Whirlpool and a repair was scheduled five weeks later September 12. The repair person said he needed a part and would order a new light switch and ice door parts from Whirlpool. Ten days later he came back with a new switch and instructions to file some plastic off the ice door part so it will close properly. It only partially worked; ice stopped forming in the ice chute but still formed on the top around the light switch. The new switch is not flush with the liner and the plastic liner has a small crack starting at the switch. How Whirlpool wants to cut out a six inch square of the liner including the switch and glue in a patch. This patch would only be warrantied for the balance of my one year warranty. I find this unacceptable and will complain to the store where I purchased the refrigerator.

Another load of darks with white soap residue splattered across every item. Despite using a soap pod and setting to so-called Deep Water wash. Whirlpool top load WTW5000 is a terrible machine. As in other reviews, constant soap residue and clothes stretched and tangled into a compressed wad with deep wrinkles as you try and untangle them after the wash. Unable to dilute your soap and faking out the machine to get a bit more water are recurrent themes. Just ridiculous. There should be a class action suit for replacement. I purchased a Whirlpool bottom freezer refrigerator for my wifes birthday because my old one was old, ugly, rusted and didnt match. Since she likes to cook, it was her dream in life to have a stainless steel refrigerator with a freezer on the bottom. At the time, it was the only kind that would fit into spot. One year ago, first the ice maker leaked causing water to spill onto the floor. Since I am a mechanical whiz I bought the part for about $30 and fixed it myself. We were happy. After two years, the freezer worked, but the refrigerator part went warm. I had a repairman replace the control box for $100. It still didnt work. We called Whirlpool, and they said the warranty expired, but as a courtesy, would charge me $95 for a service call. That was not acceptable. They told my wife that the products were man-made and are prone to mistakes. I replaced the fan myself for $100, but drove a total of two hours to get the part since it was rare. It worked great. For one and a half weeks, we were happy. Then the refrigerator and freezer DIED. Only the light and the fan worked. We bought a old school used GE top freezer, but at least it is stainless steel. We lost $2000 in two years and the people at Whirlpool refuse to do anything about it because it isnt their problem. Worst refrigerator EVER!!! !

Bought unit from Lowes in july 2017. Shortly after icicles started forming on the roof of the freezer near where the door & frame meet. Called authorized service repair company to have them check out. Tech knew right away what was wrong. Appears Whirlpool has the parts made in China & then assembled in the USA. China has overfilled the freezer door with insulation warping the door. This makes the door seal sag on the bottom & pull away on the right side. No way to repair. Was told they need to order a new freezer door.Weeks later I get a call that Whirlpool cannot get a door replacement!!! Said they will give Lowes a store credit. The floor model at Lowes has the same defect. When Lowes ordered a replacement unit they opened the packing & found that this unit has the same defect. I am replacing with a Frigidaire! Where is the quality control at Whirlpool. Anyone at Whirlpool who puts these units together could not help but see this defect - but ignores it & ships it out anyway. Thats what you get from farming stuff out to China. No excuse on Whirlpools part. Maybe Trump can save Whirlpool.

We purchased our Whirlpool Refrigerator #WRT519SZDB from the Home Depot 2 years and 10 Months ago. About three weeks ago it started to freeze items in the frig section. We lowered the frig section cooling level one selection and went on a two week vacation. When we came back, everything in the freezer section was thawed out. We had a tech look at it and he told us that the compressor was partly seized and overheating. Tried to reach someone at Whirlpool customer service by phone, email, and chat but so far, I have not had anyone contact Me back? Looks like repair will cost almost as much as a replacement refrigerator. So much for Whirlpool being a trusted brand!

I bought a Whirlpool fridge 4/23/2013. Thanksgiving it went out. I had a repair company come look at it to see how much it would be to repair. He said the compressor was out, it has a freon leak, and the electric board has a relay that is acting up. Basically it would cost $600 or more to fix. I only paid $750, mind you. Whirlpool customer service said if we pay to have it fixed then send them the paid receipt. They would then give me a 6 month service plan for future repairs if needed. Please tell me how that helps me now? A voucher for $200 or offer something to help me now. Not a happy customer. Thanks for nothing Whirlpool.

I was informed that is normal for agitatorless machines. I asked if he could hear the noise, and he said yes, thats it. So I disconnected thinking, Wow, who makes a machine in todays technology that is so loud you think something or someone is in serious pain?! Now am at the point where I want this design in pain out of my house! Going to Lowes today to try and talk rationally for a complete refund so I can purchase an LG or Samsung which is what I should have done originally.

My mother-in-law purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in 7/2010. It broke down the first time in August then consistently after that. We have had repair people out multiple times and the issue continues. I called Whirlpool and they said since it was purchased more than a year ago, it is not their problem. You would think that in all that time they would have found a way to repair or replace it. To make matters worse, we have had to call hospice in to care for my mother-in-law, all she wants is to get ice and water out of the door.

The 2 rear steel rack supports were flaming/sparking. I was told by Whirlpool over the phone that this might have been a recalled item, but they would send a technician to check. The technician said it was a build-up of grease and that I should not have used the rack and not to use the rack at all in the future. However, I do not use the microwave often enough to get a build-up of grease and it is cleaned thoroughly. This is a Whirlpool-manufactured product. Why would it be unsafe and why can I not ever use the rack again? If this was a hazard, why has it not been recalled? The technician removed the rack and sprayed a white substance on the support, and I was charged $138.03 for this and left with a partially, unusable appliance. I would like this to be replaced, so that I can use 100% of my microwave or be reimbursed for this expense. Please explain. Thank you.

Dont buy this washing machine. All of my clothes are dingy and gray. I paid $1,751.96 for this set. What a big waste of money. Sometimes the clothes come out with dry spots and then some come out with lint like they have gone through the dryer and yet they are coming out of the wash. Often they are in a very tight large ball in the center of the machine. I distribute evenly around the machine and I dont overload. The brilliant engineer that decided the machine did not need a soak cycle is a person that has never washed clothes. Wish I would have taken pictures of some of the soil still left on my clothes.

My Whirlpool washing machine has not worked properly from the first day. Whirlpool washing machine customer care is pathetic. I bought a Whirlpool semi-automatic washing machine, Sparkle. This product is in warranty period. From the first day, this product did not give right result. Machine sound is very high and I called customer care center may times (around 9-10 times). They sent this machine three times in service center but the results remained the same. The problem arose when we put some load in it. He said the gear box should be changed and the machine should be cleansed off the dirt. He offered some powder costing Rs. 1500/- to be used in washing machine.Later, he asked Rs. 350/- for other parts after two months then I paid them again after 15 days for a piece that did not work. Then, they want to charge me Rs. 350/- again. When I showed the previous slip, they then changed that part without any cost. But after 15 days, again same problem occurred. They charged me 150/- Rs. but the problem is the same. Total money I spent is Rs. 1500/-+350/-+150/-. I also purchased a stand and cover for safety, but what will happen if product is not good? The technicians visited many times and they all said this piece is not okay but they cant do anything. The company should change this product. The machine is still rotting at my home. Im not sure if it could be accepted to be exchanged for a new one. Customer care gave us the satisfaction code but technician did not ask for this code. Im really very sad that I have called around 10 complaints within two years. Why are you people not listening? You all are doing time pass. You can check my complaint codes in your records and ask your technicians about Noida. Many times, I did not note the complaints number. Please open my file and check the issue. I told the technician many times that I want to talk to your seniors and want to tell them the problem because from the first day, it was the same, but they refused. I have also purchased a 320 LT fridge from you but that product is very nice. You should listen to our problems. This was not expected of such a branded company. I promised myself that I will never in my life purchase a Whirlpool product and advise the same to others.

We purchased this washer on 2008-04-27. It ran okay until a few months ago when it began making strange intermittent noises. This is now happening more and more often. I reviewed a lot of websites and see that this is a common occurrence for Whirlpool Cabrio washers, and Whirlpool will not stand behind it and make it right. Im going to write them a letter mirroring what Im saying here, and remind them that other appliances in my house are coming due for replacements or upgrades. Whirlpool and its affiliates will not be part of those upgrades going forward. I have no patience or tolerance for expensive **, which is what they put out here. I will have to purchase a replacement washer since this seems to have two major areas of failure, both extremely expensive to repair. I might check out Roper and see what they have--its apparently very well rated by the folks that work on these things.

In 2099, I purchased a Whirlpool Gold from Lowes. It has never cleaned my dishes, especially the pots and pans. My dishes also have a powder coating on them after various cleaning cycles that I have tried. I have tried every detergent available. The repairman suggested a detergent, which I already tried. He told me that the dishwasher uses only 1.9 gallons of water in total. That confirmed what I thought the problem was, not enough water! It is a design problem that cannot be fixed. On 12/31/2009, I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio, model# WTW6800WW1. I was excited as we have never spent that kind of money on a washer. We felt as though we had purchased a higher end washer and would have it for years to come. Wrong! About one year in to its use, I began to think it was getting louder during the spin cycles. I thought I was just being critical and it was just my sensitive ears. Now just past the two-year mark, I know it was not me. It’s the POS washer. It is so incredibly loud, not that you cannot be in the same room as it is during the washing time especially the spin cycle. In its defense, my clothes got cleaned. However, I know that the bearing is eventually going to give out and I will have a mandatory repair on my hands or have to pay someone to fix it. Either way, it’s a lot of time and a lot of money to fix a two-year old washer that should not need to be fixed. I attempted at getting Whirlpool to stand behind their product. No chance, no way. Good luck with that. Their washers last about 2-3 years. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product. This is a horrible product which is matched by their horrible customer service.

This has happened at least 3 times. In the meantime I must empty and clean the ice bin and surroundings every night or it freezes up and cannot be removed at all. Finally told them I no longer want a new door, I want a different model fridge. Was told they do not replace, only repair. It is now April and they have done neither. My Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator is just 4 years old. When they delivered it, they noticed damage on the bottom which required them to bring me a new refrigerator. The new one had issues with the ice maker that required multiple service calls to fix. The refrigerator door always seemed a bit misaligned as it was a bit lower than the freezer door, but it closed, so I never complained. I was just tired of all the issues! During the last six months, the door started to remain ajar instead of closing completely so that we had to always be sure to apply sufficient pressure to close it tightly. I considered calling in a repair, but it was still closing so I thought I might be overly critical. As it got worse, I realized the door was defective, but one day, it just fell off completely without warning as though the hinges were made of butter! After multiple service calls, a tech reattached the door, but I could see that it would not hold and sure enough, it is starting to remain ajar again. I have contacted the warranty company who is now saying the service tech claimed we were hanging on the door. This repair company the warranty company uses has an F rating with the BBB. Now, Im being told it may take a couple weeks to get another repair company to give them an opinion, but the issue is clear, the door was defective and it looks like they found a way to avoid having to make good on the warranty!

Our hot water heater (Whirlpool Mod # BFG1F404053NOV) stopped working. I called the Whirlpool help line and was advised to change the thermocouple as they had been having issues with this particular model. I was advised to go to Lowes, where we had purchased the heater, to get a new thermocouple at no charge to us. After changing the thermocouple, guess what? It still didnt work. I went back to Lowes and they replaced the heater, at no charge to us (they were great during this whole ordeal so no knocks against Lowes). Well, one year later, it’s the same issue. I installed this Whirlpool Gold Series oven in December just before Christmas. I cooked a 9lbs Turkey for over 4hrs at 350 degrees (it should have only taken 21/2 hrs at 325) used a thermometer to test the temp. Well the breast part was fine but later in the evening I removed the entire turkey only to find that the legs, thighs and bottom of the turkey was still RAW. Lucky no one had asked for that part of the turkey. Next I tried a small prime rib roast. Same thing happened. The top of the roast was fine and the bottom was RAW. I dont dare cook anything in the oven now. Called whirlpool and they are going to send someone to look at it but I wont hold my breath for any results. After reading the same complaint on several reviews and the TV show Marketplace it seems to be pretty standard for this product.

The dishwasher racks in Whirlpool/Amana/Kitchen Aid/Maytag dishwashers do not last as long as the dishwasher does. The vinyl coating on the cheap metal tines wears off causing the metal underneath to corrode and rust. This rust will deposit on your flatware, stainless or otherwise. When the vinyl coating wears away at the base of the tines, the tines will break off, creating more opportunity for rust to deposit onto flatware. You can purchase new tips for the end of the tines, and more vinyl to paint onto the tines, but you cannot replace the tines themselves or paint the vinyl onto any rusty surfaces.Another option would be to buy a new rack. A new bottom rack costs almost half of what a new dishwasher costs and if you need both top and bottom racks, you will pay almost $400 for the pair. Whirlpool was not amenable to negotiating a better price on the racks, but they would sell me a new model at a price that was close to what it would cost to replace both racks! Now does that make sense? Does it make sense for appliance companies to cause consumers to have to throw out an entire appliance rather than fix it? No, and it is creating more waste and filling more landfills. My dishwasher has run great for 7 years and I refuse to buy into the rack racket! No more Whirlpool for me!

The fellow said, Oh you should clean your oven weekly, really there are 2 of us and I use the oven maybe 2-3 times a week without spillovers. When I do have spillovers I use the AquaLift waste of time, then have to spray it down with Affresh Spray the co. My husband and I have been loyal Whirlpool consumers for over thirty years. When it came time to purchase a new refrigerator, we purchased the GC3SHAXVY00 model. It was quite expensive but we decided to splurge. This was the worst mistake. Let me also state that we have had the refrigerator now for maybe 5 years. Within the first 6 months, the door that is the central operating system for the appliance went out. The appliance was still under warranty at that time, so Whirlpool ordered a new door. The technician replaced the door and left. However, within 15 minutes of the new door being replaced, the entire refrigerator began to shut down, not just the freezer. Fortunately, we had the techs cell and we called him and he came back and put the old door on until he could order another new door. That made three doors in the first 6 months of us owning the appliance. Then, the ice maker started freezing up. We were told just to defrost the ice maker once a month, that this was a problem the company was experiencing with this 500-dollar refrigerator. Then, the water line started freezing so we would have to leave the freezer door open for about half an hour every week to get the line to thaw so that we could get the water to come out of the dispenser. Now, the ice maker has quit completely. Are we going to call a whirlpool tech? NO, what for? This refrigerator has been a true lemon from day one. I have three more Whirlpool appliances that have broken down within 6 weeks of purchasing them. It was time to replace our appliances so we thought we would support our local economy by purchasing Whirlpool. To say the least, that will never happen again. I will be replacing all my appliances with LG from this day forward.

We have a wtw5500xw2 washing machine we bought 03/2012. We can no longer use it. The machine would not spin or agitate so the clothes do not get clean or get the water out and after the cycle is done we have to wring them out after to be able to take them to the laundromat. So two repair companies and 3 months later we find out that it is the wiring harness that is the culprit. After a new motor and a shift actuator, we contacted Whirlpool only to be advised that the washing machine is out of warranty and that we are out of luck. If the company has a known issue about these wiring harness they should be looking into it and changing suppliers or offering to replace the wiring harness at a discount to its customers. I will not be buying a Whirlpool appliance ever again. I would recommend going with a Kenmore. I have had a Kenmore dryer that I got 19 yrs ago that we got used and only had to replace the heating element.

Brand new dishwasher and first time I started it I noticed the timer showed the cycle taking over 3 hours. When done I opened the door and there was some water in the bottom and the door was very wet. Dishes had not been washed. A glass that had turned upright had no water in it. The soap pod was still intact. I started over again and the same thing happened - two more times. The silverware is not clean either. Its going back!!! Im sure there will be resistance but we will deal with it.

Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS refrigerator compressor failed after 24 months. No help
Whirlpool ED5FVGXWS refrigerator compressor failed after 24 months. No help from Whirlpool as the said 12-month warranty had run out. I do understand it’s my bad luck, but they really should try harder to back the products they make. Two years on a compressor is totally unacceptable. They could care less. I even proposed a $200 rebate on a new Whirlpool fridge. My bad luck wasn’t the compressor going out, it was buying the fridge in the first place. Shame on you Whirlpool! Viva la Mexico! They told me I could use it as a boat anchor.

I hate this washing machine (Whirlpool Cabriolet) with every ounce of my being. That may sound harsh when talking about a washing machine. But, I assure you it is warranted. I have owned many washers in my day. This machine came to me after a family member passed away. The machine was almost new and had not been used very much at all. I found out very quickly that in order to simply wash a load of laundry could take as much as four hours. Every time you go to do laundry you get continuous codes and alarms. So it is a series of trips up and down the stairs to reset the machine, try to equalize the balance, and in many cases I have to unplug the machine and reset it all together. I have researched it extensively. And I have followed the instructions in the manual and from online instructional videos trying to resolve the multiple issues. I cannot wait to get an average everyday washing machine that is not too smart for its own good. I hate, hate, hate this machine!!!

My French door refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling while under a 5 year warranty. The repairman came out 4 times to fix it over a couple months and I lost the ENTIRE CONTENTS of my refrigerator and freezer 3 separate times! I am a single mom working at a non-profit agency and I had to take 4 DAYS off of work to accommodate the repairman. Finally the repairman notified Whirlpool it could not be fixed and I was told by Whirlpool that it would be replaced under the warranty and I should wait for a call back, which never came. I called back after a few days to speak with the Exchange department and Mindy told me that I had to pay $1600 to get the exchange! When I asked to have the call escalated she flatly refused! What kind of corporation is Whirlpool that would treat customers this way? Never mind that the quality of their products gets worse with every passing year! Made to break so they can force you to buy a new one! Ive been without a refrigerator for 8 days already and cant feed my family properly with no place to store food!

This morning is the fifth morning I had to take a cold shower. My hot water heater keeps going out. When we call, we are told to dust the underneath better, as it sucks dust. Are you kidding? The hot water heater is still under warranty, which means I will have to spend around $200 to have repaired again. So much for top of the line.

My 15 year old front loader quit working and was going to cost more to repair than we thought was worth it. So, we went shopping at Home Depot and based on discussions with salespeople ended up with the Whirlpool cabrio toploader. What a mistake. I am so disgusted with this washer I dont even know where to start. If there was any way we could return it we would do so. The clothes come out wrinkled, twisted, absolutely covered in pet hair and detergent and fabric softener residue. Yes, Im using HE detergent, in the correct amounts. Yes, Ive read the manual front to back. Yes, Ive tried all the troubleshooting suggestions. No, they dont make a damn bit of difference.I would give anything to have my old front loader back. It was a great little machine that did a wonderful job of cleaning our laundry. Pet hair was washed off, I could lay things out to dry and they werent all wrinkly and did not require ironing. Just about everything that comes out of this cabrio machine that I lay to dry needs to be ironed before it can be worn. It is just a horrible, horrible machine and Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for foisting this off on unsuspecting consumers.

Since my review I have been corresponding with Whirlpool Customer Service (Chris). First he sent me an email and mailed a replacement board to have us (the homeowner) install. Because the cover was so melted, the replacement board would not fit down into it. I emailed pictures to Chris. Once he saw the pictures, he called me and arranged for the water heater to be replaced since it was still under warranty. He even extended the authorization code so we would have plenty of time to arrange for a plumber to do the work. We had to pay for the plumber, but Whirlpool arranged for us to have a new water heater. Now I can sleep at night without worrying that my house would burn down if the old water heater caught fire. Chris was GREAT to work with. I had a direct number to him and called any time I had a question. I was very impressed with Whirlpools Customer Service.

My $1800 French door refrigerator is only 20 months old and the ice maker has quit working. They sent out a repair person 5 times and replaced parts three of those times. Now they are saying it is unrepairable and are refunding my contract fee of $345 and leaving me with a broken ice maker. When the problem started it was making ice just not dumping it. Now it doesnt even get water. Throughout this all, two months, I have had to constantly call them to find out our next move. They say someone will call me in 2-3 days but they never do. One of The last people I talked to said, Well you can still keep food in it. I dont feel that is reasonable considering I bought a refrigerator with the ice maker in it. I finally called Whirlpool corporate instead of the service contract people to see if anything could be done and was told someone would call me back in 2-3 business days. Well its been a week and big surprise - have not heard from anyone. It is looking like we will have to purchase yet another refrigerator in less than two years. The service people I talked to were rude and really didnt seem to want to help at all. I believed when I purchased this Whirlpool product that they were a reputable company. Sorry to say that is not the case at all. I dont know if the refrigerator is really unrepairable or if they just gave up trying to find the issue. Seems hard to believe a basically new appliance cant be repaired.

I purchased my Whirlpool refrigerator from Whirlpool guest system (online)
I purchased my Whirlpool refrigerator from Whirlpool guest system (online) in 2010 for around $1,160. Recently, it stopped dispensing water from the dispenser. I called the Whirlpool certified A&E serviceman to repair the dispenser. He concluded that the water line is frozen inside the door. He also stated that such issues with the door shouldnt happen for at least 10 years. He gave me a bill of $920 to replace the door. I called Whirlpool and they declined to pay for the repair as it is out of warranty. I feel that they sold me a faulty refrigerator and they should pay for this expensive repair. With $920, I can probably pay for a new refrigerator (not Whirlpool, of course). I am completely disappointed by Whirlpools customer service and poor quality of their product. This company, I believe, is more interested in selling crappy products, make profit and not provide good customer service. Shame on you!

I purchased a new home in 2005 and equipped the kitchen with Whirlpool appliances. Every single appliance has broken at least once. The refrigerator ice-maker has been repaired once and replaced twice. Some of the control panel buttons on the dishwasher work some of the time. Other times we have to strike the panel to make them work. Weve had to replace the handle on the microwave door twice at nearly $50 a pop. And the motherboard on the dual-oven has been replaced once. I will NEVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance for as long as I live.

The plastic around the lower door handle is cracking (currently in 4 directions from the handle) and the plastic on the side of the control panel is cracking in the center area and lower side. Neither of these area experience abnormal stress in day-to-day use. Unfortunately I could not get a good photo of the other crack on the lower corner of the control panel but included the one on the side in the middle. I contacted Whirlpool customer support about 1-2 months ago and to date, have not received any type of response or concern from them about this issue.

There was a 30 day warranty from Lowe’s which unfortunately we missed because we had not moved down for the summer till after the 30 days. I am so disappointed with this washer. I totally dread doing laundry. The following are the complaints: Every load comes out totally twisted and wrinkled!! The soap/fabric dispenser holds water after each load (I have to take paper towels and get the dispenser empty!!!). There is not enough water to properly clean the clothes. I have never noticed a reduction in my water bill and have had this piece of junk since 4-25-13. There is NO short cycle on this junk machine. There is an odor to my towels - like they are musty - after I dry them and use them. I use Tide HE detergent and clean the washer with Affresh (you shouldnt have to clean a washer). I should have taken the time to write a review much sooner, but decided today was the day after doing laundry. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER.

The Whirlpool hot water heater model ES80H123-45D from Lowe’s is a free replacement for a lifetime warranty unit that went bad after 8 years. First heater would heat to 154 degrees with a setting of 150. Very good. New one heats to 140 degrees with a setting 150 degrees. Digital ESM screen on heater reads 150, but the water is only 140 by my temperature test. I talked to complaint line 5 times in 7 days and was told to do various test, but the temp never went past 140. They replaced both thermostats and temperature still never past 140 with ESM reading 150. They first told me standard temperature was plus or minus 5 degree range. Then, they changed their minds and said it was 10 degrees. They are calibrating their equipment to operate 10 degrees less then their Energy Smart module reads to cover up a performance issue with their water heater. They say this unit will operate between 80 and 150 degrees—nothing’s said about a plus or minus operating range. I will buy a new temperature gauge to see if my old one is correct. It was tested against a digital one a couple of years ago when I had a new dishwasher installed by Lowes. The installers gauge read over 152 and mine read 154 degrees at the sink next to the new dishwasher, so it was close to accurate at that time. Whirlpool is happy with their under-performance.

Weve been in this house for almost 4 years so the dishwasher (Whirlpool WDT790SAYM) is no older than that, maybe even 2.5 since I think I got it home in my CX-5 which is 2.5 years old. Anyway, never really had a problem with it and we run ours maybe once a day or twice in a row every 3 days. Last night I remember running a load and this morning noticed the dishes were dirty but the inside of the tub looked clean. So I plop another pod in and tried to run it again and sat there and watched it. It filled up with water but then nothing. After 20 minutes I opened the door and steam came out so the heater element was working and there was water at the bottom. I tried various things but nothing. Canceling still works. So either I try to get this fixed, or buy a new one. This wasnt a cheap dishwasher either. My wife balked when I 1st bought it considering she thinks a $300 model is better than most of these $500+ models. Right now I cant argue with her since we just replaced an expensive Samsung washing machine that lasted maybe 5 years. Theres another review of this model on these forums and the person tried to get it repaired many times and it appears maybe the same thing is happening to us. I wont go down that road considering repairs like that exceed the cost of a new dishwasher.

I bought this piece of junk heater (serial no. 0804T411536) from Lowes and had their contract plumber install it in or about 2008. Since that time, I have had nothing but trouble with it. It just doesnt stay lit. Every plumber who works on it tells me that they have numerous problems with them and they cannot repair them - the customer has to get the part from Whirlpool. And today the woman I talked to told me that I had to pay the shipping charges, which vary according to how quickly one wants hot water! I personally find that a true rip off. We purchased an Estate Washer for my 89-year-old mother in 2008. The paint has been peeling down to bare metal on the left top quarter from the corner down to the lid hinge for the past 2 years. I contacted customer service and was given probable causes, one of which was the washer might have gotten dusty! He said that could cause chipping. I reminded him the problem is peeling chunks, no chips, layers of paint. The warranty expired of course. The solution he offered was for me to buy paint from Whirlpool or Lowe’s, and paint it. I have had a Kenmore washer for 24 years. The paint is perfect, and it still runs great. I would never buy another Whirlpool product. The quality is atrocious.

On 3/31/2012, we purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator (model #ED5FVGXWS07, serial #HR14602963) from the electronic appliance store called SuperCo, located at 17523 Colima Road, City of Industry, CA. Within around a month, we noticed that things kept in the refrigerator all showed weird phenomena; raw eggs were frozen inside the shells and ice is frozen on food and utensils stored, not in the freezer, but on the fridge side. At the same time, all food kept in the refrigerator turned bad easily, especially during summer time. Cooked food went bad and had a bad smell within just three days of being kept in the fridge. Also, the ventilator-like part on top of the fridge (the part which released cold air) had ice frozen around it from time to time.Obviously, the fridge was not working, as the freezer was not cold enough and the side was either making food turn bad or causing ice to freeze on stuff kept inside. The temperature seemed to be extremely uneven inside. We then asked SuperCo for repairs or a replacement, but they refused and referred us back to the manufacturer, Whirlpool. Repair services have been called three times on 2012, according to the paperwork records I have: a) on 5/31/2012, bad damper was broken and replaced; b) on 6/7/2012, (according to paper records from SuperCo), replaced parts; and c) on 6/20/2012, turned ice maker off and cleaned (the hand writing was hard to read). Then, around December of 2012, after the services, we experienced another great problem with this fridge again. When ice cream was kept in the freezer, they appear to have melted and my brother suffered from diarrhea after eating the ice cream. The ventilator-like part on top of the fridge still had ice frozen around it. We then took pictures as fresh vegetables kept at the bottom drawer of the fridge had ice frozen on it, too. I finally emailed Whirlpool through their official website on 2/7/2013 and asked for a new fridge replacement based on the Lemon Rule. An e-solutions specialist, Judy, replied that the product was warranted for a specified time period for repairs, not the replacement of the product, and Whirlpool declined my request for a replacement.Repair service was then requested by me for the fourth time, through email. On 2/21/2013, this fourth repair company came and checked the fridge. After a detailed inspection, the technician concluded that some parts of the fridge needed to be replaced, one of the parts called the thermostat. Strangely, after he called his company, he changed all that he said before and claimed that the fridge was 100% working and that no repairs were needed at all. Even when we showed him the frozen vegetables from the fridge side that we got recently, he insisted that the fridge had no problems at all and left. The way Whirlpool responded to my request was extremely disappointing, with their refusal to replace the fridge after three complete repair visits, and the fourth visit changing the inspection conclusion with no reason. Of course, the disappointment is greatest with the extremely bad quality of this electronic appliance. As of this moment, my fridge could still not keep food well and is causing us bad health. I think the only way I could go to now is to take action against the company for the lemon refrigerator, for breach of warranty, and maybe fraud.

When I first bought this machine I loved the big tub, but I was concerned that there was no agitator. It confuses me how clothes can get clean if there is nothing to rub them again. Even in the olden days they rub clothes against a board. Well my concern is valid and I believe the washing machine industry needs to go back to the old model, as this new version does not work. Here are all the problems: 1) The machine judges how much water to put in. This doesnt work. I follow the directions and outline the perimeter and dont overload, yet still it just barely puts in enough water to make the clothes wet. Im all for conserving the environment, but enough water needs to be provided to actually get the clothes clean. I would like to be the judge of how much water should be used, so I would like to be able to tell the machine if it is a small, medium or large load. I do believe that the lack of enough water is why the clothes do not come out as clean as they should and why they end up smelling (see #4). 2) There is no agitator, so there is really nothing available to help clean the clothes. Spinning them around like a maniac is not enough, which leads me to the next problem. 3) The clothes come out twisted terribly and then many times come out of the dryer wrinkled because of how hard they were twisted. I tried to select a less harsh spin cycle, but then the clothes are too wet to put in the dryer. There is no happy medium.4) Biggest problem to date: Our clothes/towels have all started smelling. You know that smell when you leave your clothes in the washer too long (like two days) and then put them in the dryer? Its that smell. The clothes/towels dont smell when you immediately take them out, but they do smell at any bit of moisture. When I dry myself off after the shower, I notice the newly washed bath towel smells like a wet dog. I have used the pods, liquid detergent and powder. I dont remember having the smell problem when I first bought the machine and used powder, so I just returned to using powder today. (Ive even tried doubling up on the pods, but the clothes still smell.)This leads me to problem number 5: When using powder in this machine, the machine does not empty the powder container completely, and so the clothes do not get the required amount of detergent. Often there are clumps left over in the powder dispenser, but not always. (This is what led me to go to the pods and liquid detergent in the first place.) But at least with powder (I use Gain) my towels dont stink after the first time I used them.I wouldnt recommend this machine. I really researched machines before I purchased this one, but they all had bad reviews, so how do you pick? And I never look at the good reviews because we all know so many people are paid to rave about products they know nothing about, or it is a company employee writing the review. This machine is a huge disappointment. I am going to try adding a rinse cycle like a previous reviewer suggested. Maybe the extra water will help with the smell. Of course this is not good for the environment though, so this whole way of making washing machines with no agitator and limiting water defeats the energy efficient goal.

Most dissatisfying experience with Whirlpool. In 2013 I bought a stackable Whirlpool washer and dryer. Everything worked well for two months, and then the washer started having problems. The washer memory board unit (MBU) needed to be replaced. This was done under warranty. One and half years later I started getting the error F07 which means an electrical problem. I called Whirlpool and they told me a technician would cost $85 for a service call. I delayed the call until today. The technician came, did a diagnostic and then advised me that I would need a new MBU. The cost plus labour amounts to almost the cost of a brand new washer. To add insult to injury, Whirlpool advised the service call would cost $89. (They upped the price since my last call.) You can imagine my shock when the technician told me that the $89 covers the first 15 minutes. I paid $133.34 for one half hour diagnostic testing and to be told I need a new MBU which is on back order for at least 6 months!!! My recommendation is - NEVER BUY any Whirlpool product ever.
